Takata recall.i was notified by letter in march of 2016 that my saab was part of the takata airbag recall and that i would be notified when and where to take my car for air bag replacement.i was also notified in that letter that parts were not currently available and i would be notified when they were available and what service center i would need to take the cart to for repairs.sometime in april 2017, i was notified that dorito bros saab, in walnut creek, california would be doing the air bag replacement and i would likely be contacted within the next month about scheduling the repairs.i did not hear back and i tried to contact dorito bros. My car has been literally undriveable since the day they replaced the recalled airbag. I would like to report that on tuesday, january 29, 2013, i was in an accident which destroyed the front end of my car.the car was subsequently declared a total loss by my insurance company.in spite of the significant impact, my airbags did not deploy.to confirm that this was a malfunction with the car, the car's information screen denoted an airbag malfunction.i have photos of the message on the information screen if needed.my fear is that this is an error on more cars than mine and this should be looked into for all 2006 saab vehicles.
I contacted the local dealership in elk grove, gmc and on 3 different occasions they state they do not service saab vehicles. I told them that gmc is responsible for it and they stated there is only one location that we could take it to in central california by fresno if i want to get it fixed. Which it will be an undue hardship. I also told them that our car was spilling gas due to an original faulty unit. They stated there was a recall for that however, it somehow doesn't show on my vin. Several times we ran out of gas and our kids got gasoline on their clothes. We called 4 dealerships and all of them state to go somewhere else. When i open the hood i see gmc brand all over the car. I believe gmc is discriminating against people with disabilities and not accommodating me. I told them i cannot drive 300 miles, i have to have someone take it because i had a stroke. They told me that they are gmc but they are not. If they are using that as an excuse then this recall committee should investigate into this and sanction them. At this point, because of safety recall is not available to get it done, i cannot safely drive with my kids. 2 of my kids are special needs kids. At this point, i would like gmc to reimburse me the full current value of the vehicle for their failure to do the needed recall repairs. If gmc made a faulty business choice when they took over the saab's the customers should not suffer. Gmc constantly makes me feel that even though70% of the vehicle is gmc i don't have the same rights as gmc customers. Currently, the blue book value is $6500. I'm stopping paying registration in hopes to get this vehicle either traded in for another one by gmc or refunded. Since a recall is not supposed to be an undue hardship upon, gmc is devising and scheming and changing policies and procedures to discourage customers to getting service recalls to saabs.

"takata recall" -i'm very upset and angered that the gm safety recall 28810/saab safety recall 15041informs me of the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants but provides no remedy!according to the recall letter that i received and verification from the gm dealership that sold me my vehicle, there are no parts available to order and gm won't provide for a loaner or rental car!therefore i'm expected to rent a car until the parts are available at my own expense or risk injury or death to me, my wife, my children or any other occupants for a potentially 3-12 month period of time.how is this acceptable or allowed by my government safety administration?i'm more familiar than some others as my wife's 2010 honda crv was recalled just last week for the same air bag concerns, but in honda's case, they have provided a rental car at no cost to my wife even though they don't expect replacement parts to be available until later this summer 2016!a foreign manufacturer stepping up but an american institution, general motors, turns their cheek and exhibits unconscible blindness to our predicament.please get involved or at least explain to me how i'm supposed to accept what gm is communicating to me is a customer and a u.s. Citizen!thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall it has been a year since the recall was announced without a resolution.this is too long for a potentially fatal defect to continue to be left unresolved.
I called to get a recall replaced and never got a call back.
Takata recall........when is a fix going to be found.been waiting forever !its ridiculous ! gm should be held accountable

I have a brand new saab. 2006 model bought in september 2006. Since i have the car the driver's side airbag malfunction ed. Light has gone on three times, and had to be repaired. If the airbag was not workingit can cost me my life.
Two items:1. The seatbelt failed to catch when pulled forward and would unravel and not return. The seatbelt fails to stop the passenger should there be a sudden stop. 2. Both the left and right side tail light assemblies have shorted and melted at the electrical connection.
Takata recall my car have electrical issue with the motor transmission and tail lights my tail light aint working all the time the passenger side tail light look like the wire caught on fire by the plug and the transmission jurk sometimes and the odbo2 saying there's no transmission fluid and its full the crank shaft sensor like come on and wont go off after i replace it then the throttle body code came up and i replace it then now it start off slow and when i check odbo2 it saying the throttle body and i know it's not so thats tell me it's the wiring harness
I have a 2006 saab 9-3 aero, manual transmission, approximately 26,500 miles. Since as early as october, 2007 the instrument panel occasionally goes blank while the car is operating. This occurs in all manner of driving conditions. It is as if the car has been turned off. However, the car continues to run. When this occurs, the brake lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, radio, windows and air conditioning shut off or do not operate. On occasion, particularly when the car has been left in the sun, it will not start and the key fob will not operate the doors. The car has been at the dealer four times for this issue. They have replaced a steering cim (?) and, after the latest incident, on june 2, 2009, the ignition switch. Nonetheless, on june 7, 2009, the condition occurred again.
Intermittent problem with door locks, sometimes the driver's side, sometimes one of the other 3 doors, the door lock will not lock the door; or sometimes is the opposite where it will not unlock the door
While driving at 11:30 pm on a small (paved) country road with my high beams on, my warning system indicated "left high beam failure.i continued driving and about a minute later i noticed sparks along the left side of the car.i pulled over to see what was wrong and the left head light was in flames.within 15 minutes the entire front half/engine of the car was in flames and the entire front half of the car essentially burned to the ground.
Takata recall, i took my 06 saab 93 aero into bellevue washington cadillac dealership to get my air bag recall fixed, after i hot the recalled airbag replaced they reset my ecm and now my airbag light is on intermittently and drains my battery dead over night! i have called bellevue cadillac and they refuse to do anything about the damage they did to my car by replacing the recalled airbag with another bad airbag! they listed in their computers that they fixed my car and never did so now i am stuck with another bad faulty airbag and now a battery drain issue from it. My car has been literally undriveable since the day they replaced the recalled airbag. The car also has a failed gas gauge due to electrical issues from the factory which was never recalled, the fuel sending units are bad and never worked properly since the car was purchased which alot if people with the same saabs have experienced all over the world!
Wheel lock ignition module malfunction. This is the error that occurs on sid. The wheel lock release will not function correctly and the key will not start the car. Occasionally, it will take 30 minutes for the wheel lock to release and allow the car to driven. Typically, this code occurs during the summer months when the humidity is high. Reading through the saab owner websites, this appears to be a common issue.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.while driving approximately 50 mph, the power steering failed.immediately, the brake and accelerator pedals failed to respond and the engine stalled without warning.the engine failed to restart after several attempts.roadside assistance was called to the scene and the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection.the technician stated that the failure was related to the idling within the computerized system.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on two separate occasions for identical failures.the technician stated that the failures were related to the temperature sensor, which was replaced.the failure continued and the vehicle is currently being repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 40,550.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving the out of alignment steering indicator light illuminated on the dash, it illuminated continuously until the system was cleared.the dealer was vague about this problem and stated it was not necessary to have it inspected.there is a problem with the automatic doors locks and the trunk release as well.the doors lock and unlock at will and the driver's door and trunk came open on one occasion while the vehicle was being driven.the manufacturer has not been alerted.updated 08/14/06.

I purchased my 2006 saab 9-3 aero sport sedan on march 10, 2006.by april 1, 2006, i was experiencing difficulty starting the vehicle, i.e. It would sputter, misfire, skip and idle at more than 1,770 rpm.eventually the engine would even out and i would be able to pull out of the driveway.on the morning of may 1, 2006, the car continued this starting behavior, resulting in the "check engine" light coming on.i immediately drove the car to my saab dealer.they kept it for 21 days and still did not fix it, even though the dealer replaced every fuel injector on the car.on may 29, 2006, i took it back to the dealer for resolution and was told on june 6, 2006, that there was a service bulletin coming out about the pcm, after they had kept if for week without even trying to fix it.evidently, the pcm either needs to be replaced or reprogrammed.
-the contact stated that after driving his 2006 saab 93 (6300 failure mileage) approximately one (1) mile and stopping the vehicle, turing off the power, the vehicle would not restart.the vehicle had to be towed to a dealer.the dealer stated that "each trip the vehicle had to be driven more then ten (10) miles in order for it to restart appropriately."

I have had my 2006 saab 9-3 in for service 4 times for an abs/traction control/stability control failure. Each time i take it to the dealership, they tell me that the cost is around $385 for a hub assembly, no labor included. I have talked to many people who have had the same problem. The real problem is that the wire leading to the wheel corrodes. Now my car is at the dealership for the same problem and they want to put in a rear harness for the same system and want to charge me $315 just for the part, doesn't include labor. This part has been found for around $120 elsewhere. This is very frustrating as the car acts as a totally different animal when it is not functioning properly. Every time this has happened the temperature has been 40 degrees f or lower.
Ecu issues, loss power when driving.
Takata recall has not been fixed.my car is a 2006.i can not tradeor sale my car in the condition of the recall on this airbag.how do i get my money back?
Multiple shorts indicated on sid. Original message "electronic stability control failure". This is a common complaint amongst saab owners for this make and model. Occasionally, an associated an abs failure indication will appear while traveling. Have not noticed a loss in abs function yet, but it was dry when these shorts occurred. The failure is assumed to be associated with the cruise control function and its use has been lost.
I was driving car on middle lane on highway approaching traffic, when my car completely shut off. This was after getting a complete tune up including oil change, new batteries and tires. Towed car to repair shop and after repair, the engine light remained on and then there was smell of gas and car continued to stall. Took car back to repair shop, where the fuel injector was replaced and gas smell was eliminated. But engine light remained on and car completely shut off again. Took it to repair shop, yet again. This time, starter was changed and mechanic claims that a new ecu/ecm is needed for engine but part for 2006 model has been discontinued and is now running on 2004 eci/ecm and engine light still remains on and started is a bit rough.
I have a 2006 saab 9-3 aero. My engine light has come on. I have tried to get this serviced several times. Each time the dealership/other mechanic resets the codes and tells me there is nothing wrong. Now they tell me it is a evaporator canister purge valve. They tell me that the part costs $425. No labor included. I have found this part for under $45. This is crap!!! i have even found tutorials on how to do it, 1 hour job. I have been trying to get this fixed since it was under warranty two years ago. Now they find the problem? a little suspicious if you ask me!
Was at a stop sign, vehicle suddenly cut off, had plenty of gas.tried to start, it wouldn't about 10 min. Passed and tried again, it started.thought it was just a fluke.went on about my business.about 2 weeks later, i was driving and it cut off, waited about 10 min. Vehicle stalls while in drive there is internal fuel issue causing engine to misfire and potential damage
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. While operating the vehicle, the check engine indicator illuminated and the temperature gauge malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer who replaced the fuel cap, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 120,000. The vin was invalid.

My 2006 saab 3 convertible only has 46,000 miles on it. We purchased it in may of 2006.recently the "coolant level low" light kept coming on.we would top off the coolant and in about 8 days the light would be on again.the saab dealer in guilford, ct. 06437, where i brought it to be repaired, has indicated to me that it needs a new engine because the coolant was leaking into the engine!!saab said that they would pay $6,000 toward engine parts.i have to pay the remaining $2,000.the new engine might be rebuilt or new and only guaranteed for one year.the car will be in the shop for "at least" a week.during that time saab is giving me a free loaner to use.i believe that my car was at danger for an engine fire because the coolant was leaking into the engine, according to saab.the car was too new with too little mileage for such a safety hazard to occur.i have heard of other saabs having this problem and believe that saab should pay the entire cost of the repair under a recall.
The coolant reservoir has cracked three times in 16 months on my brand new saab 9-3 aero 2006.it only has aprx. 12k miles.saab replaces it for free, but offers not further explanation even upon request by owner.they refuse to issue a recall and this is a widespread problem with car according to service dept.on the first and most recent incident, of three incidents, there was combustion of the coolant reservoir, and resulting smoke.the vehicle is up to date on insurance, scheduled maintenance and lease payments.i have this documented on saab service dept. Service records.i fear for my safety, daily.
The coolant system tank ruptured spraying engine coolant over turbo and engine.the coolant tank has been replaced 2 times in the past 9 months.it is currently at the dealership awaiting a new coolant tank.
For the second time in 24 hours the coolant tank has failed. This time it required the car to be towed back to the dealer for repairs. Tank leaked all the coolant from the system due to tank failure.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.the contact stated that every four months and approximately 30 miles, the coolant reservoir cracks, which causes leakage onto the engine.as a result, a fire erupts under the hood.the failure was noticed while driving 30 mph.the current mileage was 12,500 and failure mileage was 4,000.
Major leakage from coolant expansion tank. Saab dealer reported the tank had cracked and required replacing. Tank replaced. Service mgr stated that saab has an issue with these tanks on the 2.8 v6 turbo engines.
1. Normal driving leads to issue.2. Low oil indicator illuminates when driving for more than 1 hour at highway speed.3. Nothing done to correct issue, dealership says saab is aware of the issue, but no corrective action has been taken.
In august 2007, we had to have our 2006 saab 9-3 sportcombi towed to the dealership, as the coolant expansion tank ruptured while on the highway and all the coolant had leaked from the engine.the coolant expansion tank was replaced under warranty. In october 2008, we again experienced problems with the coolant expansion tank leaking and again had to have it replaced at a cost of $389.32 plus the cost of a rental car, as the parts were not immediately available.my understanding is that a technical service bulletin has been issued by saab regarding this recurring problem with the turbo v-6 engine, as the turbocharger is located too close to the expansion tank.i do not feel that it is reasonable to have to replace the coolant expansion tank twice within a 14 month period on a car that is less than 3 years old.i filed a claim with saab customer service and they responded that since it had been more than one year since the parts had been replaced, and the car was no longer covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, they would not take any action.also, the original repairs were made at a dealership that has since closed and consolidated at a second dealership that is some distance away (in santa clara, california).the dealership in san francisco says that the repairs in saab's system indicate that only the coolant expansion tank cap was replaced the first time, which does not agree with the invoice that i have.in summary, i believe that there is a faulty design involved, and that the manufacturer should cover the cost of the repairs, not us.i am concerned regarding the reliability of the car, and should we continue to experience problems with the coolant system, we will have to replace the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.while driving 20 mph, the steering wheel locked and the vehicle stalled.no warning lights were illuminated prior to the failure.the contact crashed into a ten foot barrier.gm sent an engineer to gather evidence and survey the damage.one occupant was injured and a police report was filed.gm stated that they will take apart the vehicle to find out why it stalled and crashed.the failure mileage was 36,000.

When getting gas, fill the tank . Fuel level goes to empty. The fuel level will remain on empty until gas is at half, shows current gas level for 5-7 miles then returns to displaying empty.
Vehicle will not turn over.it was determined by dealership that new fuel pump was needed to correct problem.vehicle occasionally within the past couple of years would almost stall out when coming to a complete stop.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 800. The vin was not available.

Vehicle stalls for no reason. This has happened while driving on the highway and during routine trips through streets with stop lights and stop signs. Check engine light comes on intermittently.has been inspected my numerous mechanics and cannot find a problem.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and shook during acceleration. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced, but not repaired. Fuel delivery system - my fuel sensor gradually stopped working and now my fuel gauge is not working at all. Recently my car is hesitating when i accelerate in all 5 gears and i was told it may be the fuel pump or fuel line. Last week i took it in for an oil change and was given a notification of a recall for the fuel delivery system. When researching the recall by the vin# it is not listed but if i search by make and model it is listed. Not sure what to do at this point.

When i used my cruise control sometimes it engages and does not engage. It did this for over a month. When i first bought the car, i did my research on it and it said that it has a steering fluid loss problem, because the quality is poor. I am curious to why there has not been a recall on it yet.

Had been having problems with a very rough idle. Then when putting car into reverse from a cold start the brakes would be inoperable (brake would not press down). Throwing car into a different gear was only way to stop car. Very scary when parked on an incline one morning and reversed into traffic but couldn't stop. Took to service repair to find the brake booster needed replaced. Said this was unacceptable failure in car of this age/mileage who has very regular service record.

I own a 2006 saab 9-3 aero sport combi.two weeks ago, after the vehicle had been parked for 24 hours, i started the vehicle and placed the gear shift in reverse.the vehicle started rolling out of the drive way.the brake pedal was rock hard at the top of the stroke.it took me nearly 75 feet to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was traveling at 2-3 mph.the vehicle is currently at the dealership because the brake booster is back ordered.this is the third time the vehicle has been in the shop for this complaint.each time the aux. Brake booster was replaced.
Hard shifting, slipping of transmission when accelerating. 2006 aero v6, when cold the shifting of the automatic transmission is very stiff resulting in noises and bumps when up or down shifting in the 'auto' mode. Shifting into higher gearing at highway speeds are slow and often up and down as the transmission tries to find the correct gear range. This occurs (looking for gears) when warm. Also when warm going down hill the shifting bumps very hard to lower gears causing car to slow down dramatically. When cold, transmission sometimes will not shift up when accelerating while making a turn from a stop.
1. Normal driving conditions manual shift model2. Shift handle and assembly "flew off" while driving causing it to be very difficult to shift in traffic3. Dealership "glued" the shifter back on.
The shift nob flew off - exposing only a small metal bar to hold on to and shift- this happened while in traffic and made it impossible to shift until pulling over and re-attaching the nob.
Hello, i have been renting this car out for awhile....i have been unable to rent it out because of the recall, however, i repaired this issue months ago and the dealer that repaired the problem has submitted proof to you twice but still no one has updated this to your website and this is severely effecting my car rental business. Please advise?
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. The contact stated that the driver side and front passenger side seat belts failed to retract. The failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that the seat belts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Rear passenger seat belt has locked up while seat belt is extended out.same exact issue in front seat has been recalled but since this is the back seat i'm told this is not part of the recall.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. While parked, the front driver side seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact was unsure of what part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9.3. The contact received a notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v318000 (seat belts). However, the part needed to remedy the vehicle was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v318000 (seat belts) and 16v063000 (air bags). The parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The dealer was contacted (putnam cadillac in burlingame, ca, 650-342-9500) and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
2006 saab 93 base. Consumer writes in regards to safety recall. *ldthe consumer stated the dealer advised there was no such contract with saab owners or warranty service offer for the vehicle.
Having difficulty getting gm recall #15027, nhtsa #14v318 fixed.scheduled appointment on august 15, 2017 with authorized service center, cadillac of norwood and they never ordered the part because they said they had to see the car first which they never told me. Service advisor told me they would call me when part was in, which never happened.called after and pete fitzpatrick was dismissive of my complaint.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3. While driving at approximately 15 mph while the brake pedal was depressed, the seat belt violently seized across the contact's chest causing her to lose consciousness. As a result, the contact crashed into the rear of another vehicle and the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 163,000.
I received a recall notice on my seat belt in august 2014, but they have not yet installed a new seat belt in to take the place of a defective seatbelt.
Two items:1. The seatbelt failed to catch when pulled forward and would unravel and not return. The seatbelt fails to stop the passenger should there be a sudden stop. 2. Both the left and right side tail light assemblies have shorted and melted at the electrical connection.
I went to have a recall addressed nhtsa campaign id number: 14v318000. The dealership does not have parts and stated that they may not arrive for some time. There was a very limited knowledge about the recall and i was forced to leave without having my seatbelt repaired. I believe it is very dangerous owning a convertible with a seat belt that has a manufactured defect and i would like my issue resolved immediately.

When backing out of my garage this morning the vehicle brakes were very difficult to engage and had to forcibly depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle (which still did not provide full braking force) and avoid running into the parked vehicle behind me.this has been a problem for as long as i have owned the vehicle.typically occurs whenever the vehicle has been parked for some time (e.g. Over night or during the work day) - just replaced the brake pads and rotors and this had absolutely no positive impact on the problem.definitely a safety issue that could result in an accident.
Vehicle stalls while in drive there is internal fuel issue causing engine to misfire and potential damage
Upon starting the vehicle after sitting, the brakes had greatly increased pedal effort to apply and greatly reduced breaking result. The car failed to stop and struck a pole while backing up.
2 incidents occurred.i have owned the car for 1 week and, occasionally on cold starts, when attempting to back up and stop, the brake pedal is hard to depress making braking extremely difficult.additionally, on occasion, if i accelerate and then attempt to depress brake pedal, the pedal is extremely difficult to depress making stopping difficult.this has almost resulted in an accident during hgh traffic situations.
On a cold start, the brakes fail.
Loss of brake power assist after a cold start up. The vehicle is very hard to stop, requiring high pedal pressure, until the car has warmed up for ~30 seconds. This has occurred numerous times over the past 6 months. The car has been left with 2 different dealers on several occasions, to allow them to observe and diagnose the problem. They have never been able to duplicate it. I have given the dealers info about the current nhtsa investigation (pe08005) pertaining to this same complaint for this model car from several other sources, and noted that earlier models of this car were recalled for a (possibly) similar defect.
Low of vehicle power brake assist. After sitting for several hours, when the car was first started the power brake assist would not work or would work at a reduced rate. There were not check engine or brake lights to notify us of a failure. This almost resulted in an accident. It took nearly 20 ft to get the vehicle to a complete stop. Had this occurred in a parking lot or in another location were a person or vehicle was close by an accident would have occurred.the vacuum pump was replaced i believe the part # is 12822387. Had a notification been given that there was an issue such as a check engine or brake light, this would not have been as big of an issue.
My 2006 saab 9-3 aero has a series of unpredictable braking motions.i have had the braking sensor assembly replaced - however brake pressure and control are unpredictable.letting up on the brake slowly results in a loss of all brake pressure in a non-progressive fashion.there are also times that only by pushing the brake pedal all the way down to the stop that the car can be held in place when idling.

Brake vacuum pipe check valve broke apart, resulting in a loss of braking power and check engine fault. Car was not drivable after incident.
When a bump is hit while brakes are applied, brakes make a metal-on-metal grinding sound. When steering wheel is turned after braking (pulling into or out of parking space) metallic clicking sound is heard. Brakes work better after car is warmed up.
On cold startup the vehicle has no power assisted brakes. This has lead to numerous occasions where you get in the car and begin to back out and nearly hit another vehicle. It takes nearly a minute after startup of the vehicle before it is safe to put it in gear.
Car will not stop when in reverse after morning start-up. No braking power in reverse even at idle. Problem has been addressed 3 times by dealership. Car in again for same problem only 5 days after previous "fix"in shop again now almost 2 weeks as of today.
2006 saab aero v6, at acold start and while backing out of the driveway, the brake pedal goes very hard and the car will not stop for 15 -20 ft.
Intermittent brake failure. More noticeable at cold starts pulling out forward or backward. Brake pedal goes to the floor with very little braking power. Very dangerous to drive and we parked the car and contacted the dealer. They have now had the car for 4 weeks and are waiting on a part from the factory. This is a very dangerous situation on this car and could very easily result in an accident with injuries or death. I am a male and it was all i could do to get the car stopped on at least 2 occasions. I had to use the emergency brake on one occasion to avoid a collision. This car has 32,000 miles on it. The dealer said the problem was a vacuum line on the brake booster but the replacement must come from saab. I am not sure if this will resolve the problem or not.
On july 22nd 2010 at approximately 1500 est, i started my car, a 2006 saab 9-3 aero sport sedan and placed it into reverse to exit my garage/ driveway on my way to work. As i neared the street i depressed the brake pedal to slow down and enter the street but the brake pedal seemed to be ineffective and i ended up putting the car into neutral and entering the street at an angle. After i had stopped in the street i pumped the brakes and put the emergency brake on and shortly (2min) i was on my way without further incident. I reported this incident to my saab dealer, and they said they had never heard of this before and said there was nothing i could do as it was out of warranty. During the rest of the summer i drove that car i had no further problems. (it is my parents car that i drove when i was home for the summer). I later found out that my parents also had this problem intermittently so i began searching online and found others that had a similar problem and referenced a report pe08005 which seemed to describe my problem. I brought this report to the saab dealer and they told me they had never seen it and couldn't do anything about it.
Similar issue to nhtsa defect investigation # pe08005.loss of brake power assist after a cold start up and reversing. The vehicle is very hard to stop, requiring high pedal pressure, until the car has warmed up for ~30 seconds. This has occurred numerous times over the past 6 months.it is more prominent after sitting for several days.also while driving on the road, when a bump is hit while brakes are applied, brakes make a metal-on-metal grinding sound and the braking action does not work until additional pressure is applied.this also happened when braking on slippery road conditions such as snow or rain.this caused a near accident when my car did not stop for another 10 feet than intended and entered an intersection on a red light.
Found my cap to my brake reservoir cracked open like a tin can above the threads.the plastic literally split in two.the cap still could be twisted on and off easily, but would no longer prevent brake fluid from escaping.cap will be replaced with a new one.i have heard similar complaints from people with my car possibly related to the heat generated by the turbo.2006 saab 9-3 aero 2.8l v6.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.the contact discovered that his brakes failed shortly after starting the vehicle when he placed the vehicle in reverse to back out of his parking space.when the transmission is shifted from park into reverse or drive before the engine has been warmed up, the brakes do not work to slow the vehicle and the brake pedal feels rock hard.to stop the vehicle the contact shifted the transmission into park.brake function appeared to return to normal after the engine warmed up.this failure has occurred on four separate occasions.at 15,383, the contact struck another vehicle when the brakes failed while reversing out of a parking space.the crash occurred at low-speed approximately 2mph and no one was injured.the contact's vehicle was scratched but there was no apparent damage to the other vehicle.dealer replaced electric vacuum pump multiple times under warranty. Contact claims faulty vacuum check valve caused brake booster to leak and electric vacuum pump to run too long and burn out.the contact pursued remedy under lemon law and the vehicle was repurchased by saab on january 7, 2008.
Fear of accident coming from brake booster continuing to go bad in my car. Brake will stiffen and not stop car - will only slow down. Car has been looked at 5 times since nov. 2006 for this condition. Gm will not do anything but replace the part and it has failed numerous times, replaced 2 times after complaints.

The abs system was not working correctly for the first 6 months that i owned the car. This caused the rear brakes to be partially engaged all the time when the car was driven. It was so bad that you could hear and smell the brakes scraping. The dealer said it was all right to drive the vehicle.i took them approx. 6 months to get the correct parts to repair the problem. All the time the brakes were rubbing which caused them prematurely wear out. I have never in my life had rear brakes wear out in 15k miles. One of two things has happened. The abs caused the pads to wear out or they had bad brake pads to begin with.(note: my other saab has 30k miles on it and still has it's original rear brakes).
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.on three occasions, when applying the brakes, the pedal extended to the floor.the failure was noticed while driving 3 mph.the vehicle did not stop.she pumped the brakes and the vehicle eventually stopped.on the third occasion, she ended up in the middle of an intersection before the vehicle stopped.the dealer currently has the vehicle.the contact stated that she was experiencing the same failure as mentioned in nhtsa campaign id number pe08005 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum service brakes, hydraulic: power assist:vacuum:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The current mileage was 15,300 and failure mileage was 15,000.update 04-02-08 the dealer replaced the mast cylindere. Updated

Intermittent loss of brake power assist on cold start, giving very hard pedal.recovers with several pumps of brake pedal, or several seconds of idle time. Began about mid-june, 2007, and was reported to dealer.behavior is not consistent, and may vary with weather conditions.barely avoided a low-speed accident in a parking deck first time it happened. Car taken to dealer specifically to identify / repair problem on 11-7-07.dealer response has been positive, but unable to locate specific problem.dealer found that other saab 9-3 aero (v6) models exhibited similar characteristic, including brand new 08.further pursuit with saab got negative response, as dealer was unable to find the problem, and reported the car "normal" in that it behaved as other similar models on cold start. I then reported to a saab owner website, and responses from others led to coverage of currentnhtsa investigation pe08005.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.while reversing the vehicle at 4 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle did not stop.he had to stand on the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle.the failure occurred approximately six times and only when driving in reverse.the vehicle was taken to the dealer on september 24, 2007.the contact believed that the vehicle should be included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v236000 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings).the current and failure mileages were 13,000.
22 june 07rear brakes replaced, noticed on initial driving that brake pedal would 'bottom out' , brakes would make metal on metal sound, and vehicle slow to stop.13 july 07 vehicle returned to dealer with brake complaint, hand brake adjusted.17 aug 07 vehicle returned to dealer with same above complaint, vacuum booster pipes and non-return valve replaced5 sep 07 vehicle returned to dealer with same complaint, vacuum pump pipe assembly replaced again.10 sep 07 vehicle returned to dealer with same complaint, no problem found.as of this date brakes continue to malfunction on initial startup, once brakes have been used for several stops they appear to start working more correctly.

Vehicle left roadway at 35mph and struck a tree. Airbag failed to deploy, driver suffered facial and teeth damage.
Takata recall. The steering pump is leaking and i took my car to gm and they refused to work on my 2006 saab 9-3. The steering leaking is safety issue, and if i lose control of my steering..i can end up hurting myself. Please take this into consideration and make gm fix my steering pump!
When i used my cruise control sometimes it engages and does not engage. It did this for over a month. When i first bought the car, i did my research on it and it said that it has a steering fluid loss problem, because the quality is poor. I am curious to why there has not been a recall on it yet.
The contact owns a 2006 saab 9-3.the contact stated that the air bag light remained illuminated.the air bag light switch was replaced by a saab dealer.in addition, the steering wheel lock failed.the dealer informed the contact not to drive the vehicle.the ignition was replaced.there had been no further occurrences.the failure mileage was 32,000.
Dt:the consumer owns a 2006 saab 9-3.while the consumers wife was driving the vehicle when the lever that holds the steering wheel in place fell off.as a result the steering wheel moved in a back and forth motion.the steering wheel also up and down in direction.there was no prior warning that anything was wrong with the steering wheel.the vehicle was currently at the service dealer being repaired.the dealer reinstalled the lever, and stated that the factory may have installed the lever incorrectly.the manufacturer had not been contacted.(11/17/05)*sc
I own a 2006 saab 9-3 aero wagon with approximately 33,000 miles on the vehicle and the wiper system is broken. The wipers failed while driving at night on a recent trip and we were 200 miles away from home. We had to drive at night in the rain with no way to clear the windshield. The failure was not simply a broken wiper blade as i could have easily repaired that, but instead the wiper linkage broke. The plastic pieces in the system show signs of cracking and will not stay in place.

The front driver coil spring broke and the broken end of the coil was pressed against the side wall of the tire.when the tire was removed a 1/4" deep gouge was observed in the side wall.this incident happened while parked, i noticed a loud bang and a strange noise while the vehicle was moving.i immediately removed the tire to check for problems and found the broken spring and gouge. If this occurred on the highway (my commute is app 80 miles round trip) it could have easily punctured the tire and caused a more serious problem.or left me stranded in an unsafe location.
Premature fatigue failure of coil spring on driver's front macpherson strut.failure caught before tire puncture incident.fracture occurred on bottom coil.vehicle:saab 9-3 2.0tyear: 2006mileage: 38000 milesawaiting dealer repair.
Found both front coil springs broken in half following a noticeable deterioration of ride quality over the past several months.my mechanic had to replace both front coil springs, struts, and sway bars in order to repair the vehicle and noted that the break on the right coil spring was approximately a half inch from the tire potentially resulting in a punctured tire.
Coil springs on my 2006 saab 9-3 with 35500 miles broke. It rubbed on my front right tire which may need to be replaced.
I have a 2006 saab convertible.i left to go to work this morning and there was a horrible noise in the front.i drive the interstate part way to work and the noise seemed to lessen.when i got off the interstate and came to a stop light the noise was extremely loud.i turned around and took my care to the dealership where i had purchased this vehicle.i found out that both of the front coil springs had fractured and one was stuck in my passenger side tire.the tire on the inside had been cut all the way around the wheel.i was told that the service people could not believe that i did not get in an accident.i had to investigate this issue with saab's on the internet in order to find that it was a problem.i then called saab dealership (the only one in the area)30 miles away and found out that there is a problem with the coils breaking.i now have to have my car towed all that way and they are not sure if saab is going to cover a rental car fore me.i have to be able to get to workand now will have to be out the expense of a rental car.saab should cover all of my expenses.this is a problem that should be on the recall list and not put people in such danger when saab is aware of this issue.i have always told everyone how much i love my saab and they would love one too.now i am afraid to drive this car when it is fixed, because i don't trust that there isn't something else wrong that could cause an accident.
Sunroof exploded outward and spontaneously.....temperature was 60 degrees, driving on freeway, going straight, it was iff a rock had been thrown in car but it exploded up instead of in.
Both front suspension coil springs snapped and saab told me that gm would not repay me for the repairs through special coverage #15917.
Ecu issues, loss power when driving.

Clear day. Highway travel. Cruise control set to 65-70 mph.2006 saab 9-3 convertible 3200 miles. Entered construction zone and attempted to slow/brake and the car did not slow down. Car continued at set speed. Seems the cruise control did not disengage and the car was fighting to keep the speed up to cruise control setting. Truck ahead slowed and i did not. Maneuvered left to avoid truck and made contact with a construction trailer. Continued to after contact. Had to use emergency brake to stop vehicle. Penn dot called police to the crash scene. Car was towed and the retrieved by dealer. Insurance adjust, saab tech and saab collision manager pulled an error code from the diagnostic and verbally stated that the cruise control did not disengage. Later after the adjuster left was contact by a regional department stating that the tech mis-interpreted the code. Saab sales manager has not returned 5 messages for information of releasing us from our lease.
Brakes have failed to work several times. They feel like they are locked and not able to press down. Today after accelerating from 0 to about 35 miles per hour the car continued to accelerate on it's own. I felt like the cruise control kick in. I tried to press on the brakes but they would not work. I was driving in the passing lane to avoid hitting any cars. I noticed the cruise control was on. I turned it off and the brakes finally started to work. The dealership can not duplicate the problem and claims he has never heard of any such complaints. I have seen several of these complaints on the internet.
Windshield wiper transmission broke at 60mph on a two lane road while passing a semi during heavy rainfall. Complete loss of windshield wipers occurred, loosing all visibility which became very dangerous given the vehicle position, speed and other traffic. I own and operate a saab repair shop and this is a very common failure on all 2003-2011 saab 9-3 models where the plastic linkage pops off drive motor causing complete or partial loss of wipers. Have repaired 13 of these 9-3s in shop over five years. Please look into this serious issue. I myself had never been put into this position before but will now be suggesting replacement of this assembly to all my 9-3 clients. Saab part number 12755304 is current repair unit from saab parts na. Please see this ebay seller selling new linkage repair kits to show a small extent of failures.
