The driver side side-curtain air bag deployed without vehicle being in an accident.this caused injuries to the driver.mrat the time of the incident, consumer experienced ringing in the ears and some apparent hearing loss which now has been determined to be permanent.also, the lumbar in the driver seat seems to be too high. *jg

The drivers seat seems to be defective. It is cocked in a manner that forces the driver to sit at an angle to the steering wheel. The seat cushion is not aligned with the seat back and forces the driver to sit almost across the seat to be able to face straight forward. Also the lumbar support is uneven and only suports the left side. This further adds to the "twist" that the driver has to endure in order to safely operate the vehicle. The company tech rep told me the solution is to not use the lumbar function. Also the seat bottom seems to collapse on the left side when turning or cornering to the right. This has caused me to almost lose control many times on the highway and on off-ramps and when taking evasive actions. I have been forced to add my own padding to the left side of the seat cushion in order to be able to drive the car somewhat normally. I am now concerned that the side air bag will not function properly if i am in a collision. The company and the dealer seem umwilling to do anything about this. Additionally, this is creating back and hip problems for me. I believe this is an unsafe situation that will eventually cause an accident or in the least, contribute to additional injuries if i am in and accident. I chose this car for it's safety record which seems somewhat ironic.

I have a 2002 saab 93 and the dic cassette on those car always goodbad. They are defective there was a recall on those cars and i called the dealer and asked them and they said there wasn't no such recall, they denied it because the parts is expensive.

My 2002 saab 9-3 stalled in traffic and could not be started again.the direct ignition module had burnt out suddenly, and smoke was seen coming out of the connector when i tried to start the car.the module failed with no warning at all, and i was lucky to have been in heavy, but slow traffic.the module was replaced and the car is running.the car has less than 50,000 miles on it, so the sudden failure of such a critical component is surprising and disconcerting.i have little faith that this will not happen again, without any warning.

The check engine light came on at approximately 79,900 miles. Upon diagnosis by the saab dealer, they saidthe ignition cassette was failing. Replacement was necessary as when the part ceased to function the car would not run. This is the fourth time this part has been replaced. : dates the ignition cassette was replaced -- 6/30/08 (82,903 mi), 3/21/07 (56,231 mi.), 12/15/05 (32,671 mi.), 8/17/04 (18,720mi.). The replacedpart is available.

My dic failed for a second time! i hear its an extremely common issue with these vehicles.

I just purchased my 2002 saab 9-3 from karz and more in longview wa. In november 2012 and drove about one mile went into a store came out and the vehicle would not start. The thermostat and the ignition coil pack were bad. Replaced the thermostat just once and the ignition coil pack twice. Car is still not running i have died on the freeway, in town, too many times to even count the car will start with a jump but wont run for very long before it dies. Frustrated and at my witts end! had a full diagnostic....showed nothing no one seems to know the problem. Its ran about a week since i have had the car ugh!

Saab information display (sid)is losing its pixels and is unreadable.this is the second time unit has failed.the first was replaced under warrantyin may 2005.sid provides engine information and maintenance updates as well as general informationsuch as time, radio/cd player operation ,and hands free telephone (constar) information. I have not replaced the second unit since it was approximately $400 to replace and required a saab certified technician with special equipment to mate with the car.

Dt*: the contact stated the air conditioner and the defroster has been repaired multiple times due to a sensor problem. The engine was replaced a few months ago but the replacement engine was noisy.

The blower on the air conditioner was not working.in addition i went in twice to have them look at the heating unit or climate control.the third time they replaced it, but it still turns off and sets to zero.now the heat will come on whereas it didn't before.i recently (last week feb. 16) down shifted in traffic because there was an accident ahead.i down shifted for five to four to three and the car turned off and i drifted to the side.i had the car towed to the dealer and they looked at it later the following week.i had to call the sales department to get someone from service to call me (my salesman has since quit).when the call was returned, the manager of sales todd aluded to the fact that this repair would not be covered under warranty.he said that the problem was diagnosed as non-mechanical (implying it was driver error or neglance) and saab usa would not hold to the warranty.the car was purchased on april 12, 2002 and has less that 25k miles; i have driven for over 23 years and had several manual cars and had always been able to downshift to slow the car in any situation.i believe i have a lemon.there are other issues with the car such as the tcs and braking system in rain and snow, yet the dealership tells me the noise and locking that is felt under my feet is normal.

The contact owns a 2002 saab 9-3.while the vehicle was undergoing an oil change, the mechanic discovered that the catalytic converter rubbed against the oil pan and cut a 1/4 inch groove in the pan.he moved the catalytic converter over to avoid a major failure and repaired the oil pan.the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer, located three hours away.the current mileage was approximately 113,000 and failure mileage was approximately 110,000. 1. Use of high beams2. If i do not use the high beams the low beam lights never fail6 month trial just finished.3. My 2002 saab 9-3 convertible starts fine once it start moving goes off, then i starts it again, then when i stop it goes off and keep on doing it again and again. The first time i had the idea it was cold, but i noticed it doesn't matter it do it every time i stop at any light or stop sign, then i called the manufacturer number 1800-9559007 they asked me for the vin # [xxx] the customer service representative told me that vehicle doesn't have any recalls they can't do anything about it,then i told her if my vehicle is suffering the same problems in the recall description it should be repaired by the manufacturer, but she told me that unless your vehicle gets on fire or accident they can't include it in any recalls. They should do something about it since this is a manufacturer problem according to the rest of vehicles included in the recalls, then she told me she checked my vehicle vin number again and that repair was done, but my car is just giving me that problem constantly.what can i do. Filled my car with gas on wednesday.noticed a strong gas odor and quickly dropping fuel level.took my car to local garage.they identified broken tabs/brackets holding fuel lines.contacted saab dealer in dublin about a recall on this item - dealer informed them it didn't apply.i called saab customer service and was told my vin number didn't fall within the saab recall #15018 (gm recall 04101).it obviously isn't a coincidence my 2002 9-3 has the same problem being recalled on other 2002 9-3s.

Wet braking performance:wet braking performance in terrible in my 2002 saab 93.there is literally no braking response for the first 2-3 seconds after applying significant pressure tothe brake pedal when driving in wet conditions.there is obviously water building up on the brake discs that is causing the delayed brake response.creates a very dangerous situation.

The rear view miirror on the passenger sidedoes not move far enought to the left (9 p'clock) to permit adjustment so that there is a serious blind spoton cars moving uptoward the left rear of the vehicle. So i conclluded there i a a serious design flaw in the mirror mechanism....i talked to gary rhine, the dealer service advisor, and he said there was nothing that can be done about it . I have never owned a vehicle wherein the driver's rear view mirror could not be a adjusted all the way outward satisfactorily... I believe a recall is appropriate..........................................................................left rear of the vehicle. Attempts to adjust many itimes faile, so i conclude there is a design failure this failure nearly caused 2 accidents as i started to miove into th e left lane.. I talked to gary rhine.
