There are over 3,000 complaints abut the air bags on this model on the internet. I took suv into dealer to see if air bag was a result of an accident the week before. Dealer charged me $150. Dealer said no it was a defective air bag in steering wheel. I contacted usa headquarters of porsche, but they said there was no recall yet even though there are over 3,000 vehicles with this defect reported on the internet by an attorney. I contacted the ny attorney general, they told the dealer they should refund my $150 and repair my vehicle. The dealer refused. Ny attorney general said i should take them to small claims court. Cost for repair was estimated at $1,200 by dealer to fix defect.
When the weather temperature goes 29 f or below, theair bag, anti- lock brake and horn stops working. When the weather goes back to normal, they all perform normal.
While traveling on one of the main highways of dubai, united arab emirates, a porsche cayenne driven by a female uae national was hit on the left hand side of said vehicle by another vehicle causing severe damage to the car and various injuries to the driver.of the three (3) air bags on said vehicle, not a single one deployed or opened that could surely have lessened the injuries sustained by the driver.
For safety: airbag fault and earning light appearing approximately 60k miles in.from a simple google search, it appears to be a widespread issue.when contacting both porsche locally and porsche corporate to amend, both refuse repairs by citing vehicle's age (although this is a prevalent, known issue). For performance features: pcm failure; pcm is the navigation and radio console system.again, both porsche local and porsche corporate were contacted after discovering through a mere google search, which will illustrate this large issue with porsche cayenne vehicles incurring pcm failures in droves.porsche has acknowledge both the airbag safety failure and pcm fault is due to bad electrical engineering, to include acknowledging the choice of to not pursue a recall or "goodwill" repairs.

2 issues. Like other 2006 porsche cayenne's, in normal driving in my neighborhood in 2014 my car started vibrating uncontrollably. Stopped driving and had it towed to the dealer. Turns our the drive train broke at 74,000 miles. Which seems is a systemic problem with all 2006 cayennes. $2400 to repair. Then last week the coolant water pipes broke draining all the coolant fluid out of the car while it was being driven in normal traffic. Towed to the dealer.i soon learned that there had been 8 class action law suites filed on this problem in i believe 2010 and porsche set aside $45m without admitting guilt to end the law suit andto fix affected cars; however, you had to have it fixed by the end of 2013. Nobody told me of this problem, especially my dealer where the car sits today as i try to get either the dealer of porsche of na to support the cost of the fix. So far they are not willing. Cost to repair is $2800. Car has 84 thousand miles. Seems strange that nhtsa since every 2006 porsche cayenne has both of these expensive problems. Http://www.coolantpipesettlement.com/

Vehicle suddenly loses power ("throttle control" as the service rep puts it), usually while traveling at highway speeds.this causes sudden deceleration, creating issues for surrounding traffic.in each case if i floor the accelerator i can maintain approximately 25 mph to get to a side street, where i arrange for a tow truck.this vehicle has been in the shop three times for a total of a month, during it's first 6 months (14,000 miles) for this condition.each time the porsche dealer believes it has been fixed.intermittent so hard to diagnose.
Vehicle runs inefficiently when cold and smoke has been noted from the exhaust pipe when vehicle is driven.it will turn over, but not catch.dealership was told by porsche to use a lower octane fuel (87) to remedy the problem.this contradicts the information in the owner's manual which states only premium unleaded fuel 91 or higher should be used.if the vehicle is taken into a lower altitude area, the fuel should revert to premium.this is a brand new car and it does not start when the engine is turned over, leading me to believe there is a manufacturing defect in the design of the engine.my husband owns a 2004 cayenne s, which has a 4.5 v-8 instead of the 3.2 liter v-6 and it starts immediately, even when cold.

Strong smell of gasoline evident on driver's side rear when stationary or even not running and parked .research online with the search criteria of "gasoline smell on driver side rear" produced numerous complaints and questions on this phenomenon.the culprit is the fuel pumps/filters/seals for the two gasoline tanks.they are make from plastic and are prone to cracks or leaks from full tanks.one porsche parts supplier put it this way on their diy repair page "the question is not if, but when you experience this problem."the solution is to take out the rear seats, cut the carpet, remove the seat belt anchors, remove the cover under the carpet to access the pumps and filter.this is a problem porsche must know about as they have changed the design of the pump parts.

Sometime in 2011 i noticed the car began to hesitatewhen shifting gears (automatic). I was on a long drive from florida to my home in maryland when the first incident occurred. I thought it was just a thing until it began to happen routinely at all speeds. I took it to the dealer and they advised that the valve body would need to be replaced at a cost of $4,500.i missed the warranty period by 60 days so i would have to pay the cost. The truck only had 75,000 miles on it as i usually used my other car for my daily commute. I'm letting the vehicle sit until i can afford such a costly repair. I got the vehicle from a dealer in ny with only 3000 miles on it. I'm certain this was a defect that porsche knew about and they should offer to foot the bill for the repair.

I was driving the truck and all of a sudden i heard a knocking noise that sounded like the bottom of the car was going to fall off. I made it home and called the dealer. I was advised that this was a common problem and that it was the cardon shaft and it was a common problem. The job i was advised was a $2,000 job. I haven't been able to drive the truck. I finally had it repaired for roughly $900. Very unhappy...
