Dt: the air bag and the check lights came on.the consumer contacted the dealer and they said they could not service the car until 10/17/2005. Called porsche customer service, and they said they could help.the consumerbelieved this was a safety hazard, and hedid not want to drive the car.

**uncontrolled acceleration** cayenne s accelerated uncontrollably while driving.while driving at approx 60 mph, i encountered traffic ahead and took my foot off the accelerator, however the car began accelerating.i tried lifting the pedal with my foot, no luck, applied the brakes andthe car slowed, however, when i removed my foot from the brake, the cayenne continued to accelerate.the cruise control had not been activated and was off.i kept pressing the gas pedal and releasing it at least a dozen times and finally the cayenne stopped accelerating on its own, only to lose any control to accelerate.i coasted into a parking lot and stopped the car.turned it off and restarted - i was able to drive, however acceleration was very slow and gear indicator on the dash cluster displayed a black 'd' in an orange square.this is a symbol that does not exist in the owners manual.the car shifted through gears normally.the rapid uncontrolled acceleration repeated itself and i was able to pull into another parking lot, slowing and stopping the car thanksto massive 14" front brakes with 6 piston calipers and 13"+ rear brakes with 4 piston calipers.i turned the car off for a few minutes and restarted.gear selection indicator appeared normal and i was able to drive off, however acceleration was still veryslow.drove home with the rapid acceleration repeating itself again and then stopping after a few miles.the only reason this did not cause a crash is the massive braking power of the cayenne and astute driving.i ran diagnostic software when i made it home and there was an "accelerator module" failure reported.the tail lights, alarm, central locking, and the ability to open the tailgate at all have also failed - "rear lighting control module" failure.so while driving, my tail lights failed, car accelerated uncontrollably and failed to accelerate in a safe normal manner.this is a major safety issue and should be promptly addressed!

While driving with both of my children in the rain my entire car locked and my windshield wipes stopped my windows wouldn't roll down and my doors locked on and off my alarm system started to go off uncontrollably even while driving porsche isn't being of any help giving me run arounds also my check engine light came on in the process of the incident

Driver side door will not open from inside or outside without warningluckily it happened to my young son so he could get out and get in from other door to drive to dealer. Dealer had to replace the new door lock, according to dealer same thing had happened to few cars.in the past. My concern is what would have happened is it was me or my wife , we are not flexible enough to get out from other doors. What happens in case of emergency when you can not open the door. It is a safety issue and door locks should be recalled for older modelsthere should always be way to open driverside door manually in case of emergency.

The rear brake lights (left, right and high mounted) remain lit at all times, as does the rear right and left fog lights.turning lights on or off has no effect.depressing the brake pedal has no effect.this problem has occurred randomly and inconsistently and when the car has been unoccupied and unattended as well as while driving.while unattended, the lights coming on drains the battery and can strand the driver.if problem occurs and the battery is not drained, the driver may be wholly unaware of the problem and may drive with the brake and rear fog lights lit.this problem also creates a major safety hazard as the brake light remain on at all times.following drivers have no way of knowing that the driver may be braking and could result in a serious and potentially fatal rear end collision.the driver of the cayenne, is not aware of the problem.no warning lights are illuminated to make the driver aware.if problem is noticed, removing the fuses for the fog lights and the brake lights corrects the issue, but must be reinserted, allowing for the problem to reoccur.vehicle build date was 12/03 and outside of the porsche wiring harness recall, but this may be the result of a faulty wiring harness feeding the rear of the vehicle.

2004 porsche cayenne had the following repairs performed on the vehicle: rear hatch lid adjusted, dome light covers replaced, audio unit replaced, etc...***no answer required***. *mrthe transmission jerks and banged at slow speeds.the dealer updated the transmission control unit.the vehicle also experienced stalling problems.the remote entry remote lost it's programming and had a poor signal.at time all the door locks would not unlock using the keyless entry system.the vehicle experienced suspension problems.the rear hatch light wouold not turn off because the hatch was misadjusted.the consumer felt that the horn was not loud enough.the vehicle shimmied at highway speeds and a vibration could be felt in the steering wheel.the headlamps fogged up.the driver's side mirror ould not fold in automatically.the radio and other accesories would not turn off whent he key was removed from the ignition.the hood was had to raise because the tailgate shocks failed.the rear hatch would not close because it was misaligned.the rear roof molding would not stay in place.the radio produced no sound at time in the radio or cd mode.the instrument cluster had to be updated.the sunroof would not close flush with the roof.the vehicle has been out of service for a total of 32 days since the vehicle was purchased.

While driving i heard a loud knocking noise and coming from under the center console and my truck started to shake. I came to a complete stop then proceeded on but once the truck got over 20mph the knocking noise started again .

This vehicle is a porsche cayenne which is not on your list of vehicle make. This vehicle was delivered with defective brakes and wiring problems. Factory authorized dealer and service co, thoroughbred motorcars, and distributor, porsche cars of north america have failed to address or correct defects in vehicle that existed at the time of delivery of the vehicle.the rear hatch did not open fully upon release of the latch, brakes pulled to the right and would get worse when hot or wet, parking lights did not function properly, brakes grabbed with little pressure, warning on high beam, warning on dip beam, dip beams flickered then would shut off and the trailer lights did not function. *sc

2004 porsche cayenne s. Consumer writes in regards to reimbursement for vehicle fire damages. *as

Coolant line/plastic coolant hose failure.i was driving in traffic and my low coolant light appeared. Within seconds, the car began smoking and the temp. Gage rapidly began to rise. I had to turn the car off immediately in the middle of traffic to avoid possible engine failure. I towed the car to my mechanic and he indicated its a design defect from porsche and the plastic tubes are now replaced by orem aluminum tubes. Upon further investigation, i was able to determine that the design flaw by porsche was concealed. The cayenne s is in the shop and i'm hoping that only the hoses need replacement and nothing else was damaged due to this issue. A huge dent in the wallet as this is a costly fix.

The contact owns a 2004 porsche cayenne s. The contact statedall the antifreeze leaked out of the vehicle causing the engine to overheat causing the vehicle to be unable to be driven . The dealer was notified who stated there was a design flaw with the plastic pipes. The manufacturer was notified who offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Car was bought as certified porsche in mar 2011 with 66k miles; current miles 165k miles; driven approx. For 100k miles in 6 years.engine clicking noise was getting louder and louder.told by mechanics that the "f" cyn. Walls are scored and engine needs to be replace.checked on-line for this condition with other v-8 porsche owners to find that it's very common.this seems like a design issue and safety wise ( no power, miss firing and stalling).a $100k new should not have a v-8 engine that has a design defect that is worth less at such low miles.

Porsche announced their "campaign" (recall) on november 14, 2017. I have called several porsche dealers since that time, and the parts for this recall are not available. One dealer says it could be "another couple of months" before the part is available. The ah10 campaign says that this situation can cause a fire! is this what porsche is waiting for? something needs to be done to get them to produce the parts necessary to prevent significant injury or death.

The contact owns a 2004 porsche cayenne s. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, an overheating indicator light began to illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken directly to an independent repair shop where engine coolant was added to the vehicle. While adding the coolant, the technicians noticed that the coolant was leaking out through its plastic tubing. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer where the plastic tubing for the engine coolant was being replaced with aluminum tubing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 54,500.

Porsche knowingly manufactured cayenne model vehicles with plastic coolant tubes that degrade and fracture causing engine coolant to leak into the engine, potentially leading to significant engine damage. Porsche has known about this defect and failed to make consumers aware of the potential failure despite the risk to the owners safety and pocketbook.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle performs as if it will stall while accelerating in traffic.the vehicle has never actually stalled, but hesitates during acceleration.the hesitation occurs mostly when vehicle is makingturns. This is a recurring incident which occurs daily.

Dt: the air bag and the check lights came on.the consumer contacted the dealer and they said they could not service the car until 10/17/2005. Called porsche customer service, and they said they could help.the consumerbelieved this was a safety hazard, and hedid not want to drive the car.

Porsche-04 cayenne on occasions stalls on turning and touching brake and twice on the freeway going straight but braking and pushing on throttle no power for a few seconds.

Original engine cooling tubes defective, plastic composition.can fail without indication causing overheated engine at any time. Replacement parts are upgraded to metal. No recall and maker will not reemburse damage or repair.

Coolant pipe start to fail for the model year 2004-2006.the material for coolant pipe was made of plastic and it resulted in a disintegration of pipe overtime due to temperature changes.porsche technicians identified this issue and porsche engineers also identified this issue.they came up with a replacement part which is made of aluminum to mitigate damages to the engine due to sudden failure of coolant pipe.if the pipe busted, it will cause the vehicle to fail during operation and may result in a hazardous incident causing environmental issue and possibly injury to the driver and its passenger.it is highly recommend that porsche to recall this product and replace it for all defect to prevent further incident.additionally, this is an engineering flaw so the cost to repair, replace or to upgrade cannot be the owner responsibility.

Water pump failure. Original part has plastic impeller and high failure rate dealer wii replace with upgraded part but no reembursement.

The porsche cayenne (and other porsche models) have a coolant leak problem. My vehicle's "low coolant level" light came on. I checked the coolant level and found it to be severely low. The porsche dealer service (and on-line forums) report that porsche cayenne engines are encountering a coolant leak problem that appears to affect all cayenne s, cayenne turbo and cayenne turbo s engines built from 2003 to 2006 (my vehicle is a 2004 model).the coolant leak problem is located in the plastic coolant pipes located under the intake manifold of the engine. According to the porsche dealer, this is a common problem due to the plastic material used by porsche (which has since been changed to a metal material) and the plastic fittings. The lack of coolant can cause the engine to overheat, or even blow an engine, which can be extremely dangerous if this occurs while driving. In order to correct the problem, porsche service says that the coolant pipes must be replaced, which is a very labor and parts intensive service costing well over $1,000.

There is an open recall (nhtsa recall number 17v-576) for the fuel flange on my vehicle. I previously paid out of pocket for this repair and contacted both my local dealership and the corporate customer service for information about being reimbursed and was told they notify me about reimbursement. I paid $1995 and no one wants to discuss repayment with me. How do i recoup my out of pocket expense for this manufacturers defect? i have all receipts for this repair.

I have had problems with 3 of the 4 doors not operating correctly.my right rear door does not open at times from the inside or outside.the vehicle has been to the shop 4 times for repair and porshe has been unable to fix it.on 2 of the other doors, sometimes the outer door handles remain in the open position and do not retract after opening the door, often leading to the door reopening when you go to close it.in addition, sometimes the rear hatch does not unlock at times.i have been made aware by 2 porsche dealerships that they have both had other customers with similar or related conditions.this is very serious and has the potential to lead to a very dangerous situation.

Tail gate fails to remain open in cold weather.it fell, striking the back of a person.the weather was below 32 degrees f and there was no snow or ice on the tail gate. Appears that springs/hydraulic devices fail in cold weather.

Coolant level appears low all the sudden and pipes r leaking.

The porsche cayenne is notorious for drive / cardan shaft failures. Had bad drive shaft noises, and subsequent premature failure, it was a worn center support dampener and a faulty center support bearing. Iexperienced banging, bumping, grinding noises from my porsche cayenne and was unaware at the time it was the drive shaft. I have outlined the noises and causes below: - a clanking or clunking noise while accelerating or from deceleration to acceleration around 35to 40mph and while cayenne was shifting from 2nd to 3rd to 4th gear.around 5th and 6th gear going around 50-60 mph it stopped. If i kept the rpm under 200 it seemed to run ok, no issue, but if i pressed the accelerator hard or gunned it, it went haywire. It was the result of a worn and damaged dampener or diaphragm located on the center support bearing. This condition will allow for the drive shaft to travel up and down with variations in drive line torque. This movement will produce a loud clanking or clunking sound and make for a very uncomfortable ride. I later found out that this condition is one of the most common failures on the cayenne drive shaft, all models 2003 to 2006. This should be a recall and free fix by porsche because it has happened to so many of the vehicles and model years stated above!but no, porsche quoted me $2,500 to fix it.not fix the problem area, the hard rubber dampener on the center support shaft of the power train, which by the way is possible.no, porsche would only replace the entire power train for $2,500.

The contact owns a 2004 porsche cayenne s. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to respond when contact attempted to accelerate. The vehicle accelerated at once and jolted rapidly. The contact stated that the failure recurred every time vehicle's speed was around 20 mph. The contact was able to avoid the failure if the vehicle maintained a higher speed. After several days, the vehicle was not able to be driven. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repair; however when notified, they stated that the failure could be related to a failed drive shaft. The manufacturer was not made aware. The failure and current mileages were 94,000.

The contact owns a 2004 porsche cayenne s. While driving approximately 50 mph, a severe vibration occurred along with a simultaneous banging sound outside of the vehicle. Dt: the contactowns a 2004 porsche cayenne s.while driving up a hill at slow speeds the vehicle will feel as if the transmission is going in and out of gear.this causes the vehicle to jerk, and makes it difficult to control the vehicle.this happens intermittently whether it is warmer or colder temperatures.the service dealer reprogrammed the electronic control module, , but this did not remedy the problem.the service dealer attempted to repair the problem numerous times.the attempts to repair the problem included, updating and the replacement of the transmission control unit.this still did not remedy the problem.the dealer reported the problem to the manufacturer, and they sent a technician to determine the problem.the technician reproduced the problem, and said that it was a condition of hill holder function which holds the vehicle in place to approximately 800-1100 rpms, at which it will start to engage the transmission.the manufacturer stated that this was a normal operating procedure for this type of vehicle when the vehicle wa scold.the contact requested for the manufacturer to submit the reason why this was normal operating procedures for the vehicle.the remedy from the manufacturer was for the contact to accelerate more when going up a hill.the second explanation the manufacturer offered was that the jerking of the vehicle was caused by outside temperatures.the california new motor vehicle board requested that the second explanation be put into writing, but the manufacturer refused.another safety concern botheringthe contact was that while driving andupon acceleration the vehicle will stall.when accelerating nothing will happen, the engine will completely lose power.the service dealer stated this was transmission control.,but the repairs did not solve the problem.

Vehicle hesitates 1 - 2 seconds before responding to accelerator pedal input.it is a serious safety concern when attempting to pass or crossing a busy intersection.

When merging onto a freeway or similar highway, the vehicle will sometimes just die in response when you hit the gas pedal to increase speed to match other traffic.this causes other to take avoidance action at highway speeds and on one occasion a semi nearly rear ended me.

Main drive shaft center bearing faulty, failure without notice, causing severe vibration in drive train. Dealer will replace with upgrade part with no reimbursement from maker.

Severe vibration/noise in main rear drive shaft.failure of rubber bushing component on center support bearing causes severe instability of drive shaft. Potential for loss of drive train component at speed.first failure at 72000 miles.dealer admits that there have been multiple instances of failure on vehicles nationwide to the extent that porsche does not have replacement parts available from warehouse and other dealers are reluctant to transfer stock because of anticipated need.

The contact owns a 2004 porsche cayenne s. While driving approximately 50 mph, a severe vibration occurred along with a simultaneous banging sound outside of the vehicle. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in motion. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they informed the contact that the center drive shaft bearing was faulty and would need to be replaced. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for the repair. The failure mileage was 50,800.updated 5/24/11 updated 06/06/11

Car was driving normal.parked in garage and 2 hours later took back out for short drive.reaching 25 mph, car begin shaking violently and than as accelerated further stopped shaking.pulled over, than accelerated again slowly, car begin shaking at approx 50 mph.slowed again. And car continued to shake violently at various speeds. Took to independent porsche shop, and was diagnosed as "failed drive shaft center bearing".

While driving i heard a loud knocking noise and coming from under the center console and my truck started to shake. I came to a complete stop then proceeded on but once the truck got over 20mph the knocking noise started again .

Vehicle failed on at least three occasions to initiate abs steering to stay in lane on snow packed road on downhill grade.brakes initially grabbed and four wheel drive would not react to driver input to obtain steering control during prolonged slide.vehicle was equipped as sold without modifications.

*sc

I own a 2004 porsche cayenne s and from the very first day of ownership the car has a serious hesitation problem when accelerating. I have had the car serviced at the porsche dealership (mckenna in norwalk, ca) and they tell me that they are very aware of the problem and there is no way to fix it. Many, many cayenne owners are having the same problem and porsche refuses to fix the problem. I have had several near-miss collisions because of the cars hesitation when accelerating. Please help and let me know the status of this dangerous issue.thanks, derek dean.
