Takata recall.i called carl black chevrolet, in east orlando, on july 17, 2017, to make an appointment to have my passenger side airbag replaced in response to a recall.they acknowledged the issue and i made an appointment for 10:00 on july 24.i asked them if they needed the vin.the response was no, they would check the vin when i came in.i asked if the airbags were available.the response was yes, that they were available.during the week, i stopped by the dealership to verify that the parts were available and to determine how long the repair would be.the person i spoke to scanned the vehicle in, verified the existence of parts, but warned me that this recall would take several hours.when i brought the car in on june 24, the fellow immediately told me that the part was not available locally and he would have to "special order" it and that the order would take at least a week.i told him of my previous contacts with the dealership and asked him to verify.he disappeared for a few minutes, came back, and said the parts were not available.i asked why the other people had told me that the parts were available.he said that he could not speak for them, but the parts were not available and would need to be "special ordered", which would take "at least a week and possibly considerably more".i asked if someone would call me when the parts came in and they said maybe, but i should call them.it seemed pretty clear that these people did not want to repair my car. They said that they were just enforcing gm's policy.if so, it appears that gm is not acting in good faith with this recall.

Takata recall. I was instructed to file this safety complaint if the manufacturer was unable to fix the defective air bag. I called our local dealership and they told me they have not identified a fix to the problem yet.

Takata recalli was notified over a year ago by gm that my vehicle is affected by the takata airbag recall. I was told that i would soon have replacement parts for my vehicle. Several months ago, i received a letter from gm saying that there were no parts available. I was told the solution was "not to use the passenger seat". There was no estimated time when parts would be available. This is not an acceptable solution. I need to use the passenger seat of my vehicle.

Takata recall- i was informed of the takata airbag recall march 2017 and i can`t get it fixed. I`m fearful of what could happen. I called my dealership and asked if they would disable the airbag and i was told they couldn`t because it is illegal yet i saw news stories where toyota said they are going to disable airbags if replacements aren`t available. I just want it fixed/disabled so i don`t have to worry about anyone dying from flying debris. Isn`t there a way to allow the disabling of airbags in just the affected vehicles? i can`t have anyone sit in the passenger seat as it is but it would be nice if the driver/backseat passengers didn`t have shards of metal flying at their faces if the thing goes off.also.....i have spoken to gm about this and they told me they are fixing airbags in states with high humidity first because it is the humidity/moisture that messes with the airbag. The last person i spoke to at gm told me they have been working on states such as ca and az first. Seriously? if the problem is humidity the last state that should be done is az, and even ca has a lower average humidity than my state. Their average humidity is lower in az than literally every other state in this country. I live in nj, average humidity is 83% and az is 53%. How are cars in az getting fixed before mine?

Takata recall - have owned this car since 2009 and was not aware of the problem until the beginning of this year.there is currently no fix to the problem and i have been told not to ride in the passenger seat.i have been riding in the passenger seat since 2009 and that response to the problem is totally inadequate.it's almost a year since the original notification and there is still no fix.seems to me "don't ride in the passenger seat" is a euphemism for them trying to avoid lawsuits.i have not experienced an incident and hopefully will not in the future but i am hoping that the nhtsa might spur someone to come up with a solution to the problem.

The safety air bag is a critical safety system.my drivers dash warning light for the air bag system illuminated. I took it to the gm dealer who said after a 100 dollar diagnosisthere was a resistor failure in the drivers air bag which would cost 1200 dollars.the air bag is a passive non moving device. It should not fail in a passive mode.how do they know it is not caused by the recalled defective cable assembly without taking the air bag out and examining the cable ?

Takata recall. My recall was completed. However, when i picked my car up after the repair, my airbag light was on. I picked it up at close and noticed the light was one when i got to the light basically next door from the dealership. I called immediately as i couldn't turn around as they had closed. I left a message for jeremy who took care of the paperwork less than 5 mins after leaving. No return call. I called the dealership the next week as left a message for the service department. Still no return call. I don't know if my recall was actually completed correctly as the light is still on. An independent garage checked my car's computer and confirmed the light is on due to the airbag. I just want the light off and to know the recall was completed correctly. I've tried calling since, but i always get voicemail and well they never returned calls even when i tried to schedule the initial recall repair. Recall repair was completed by coyle chevrolet in clarksville indiana. However it wasn't done correctly.

Takata recall. Gm sent a recall notice to me back in january 2017 about the airbag issue, but now almost 11 months later they still have not started fixing the problem and when i called today they still give me the same story about investigating the best solutions for the problem and can provide no date when they will actually start fixing the problem. The representative claims my car is "safe' to drive, but when i asked him to put that in writing he said that wasn't possible.i think some pressure should be put on these companies to start making repairs. I've heard of other companies making the necessary repairs. Why isn't gm?

Takata recall:i believe its been about a year since the recall was announced.i have called the dealer several times but they always say the parts are not available.this is not a complaint about the dealer.it is about general motors.i have parked the car for a year but continue to pay license and insurance.if they can't get the parts, they should buy the cars back at the average nada/blue book value.then, they can store the cars until the parts are available.i know that there have been millions of cars recalled; but gm should be responsible for getting them fixed in a timely manner.i believe they could get them manufactured by someone else or a variety of companies.they are protecting their earnings, stock price, and shareholders. They should be fined for every day that they drag this out.and, that fine be on a per car basis, with the owner of the car reaping the benefits of that fine.that would get them to move faster, and find manufacturers that will get the parts needed

Takata recall - safety recall taking too long in march 2017, i received a gm recall notice for my pontiac vibe.i called gm and logged a ticket (case#8-3053081027). Each time i call they state that the parts are not available or the engineering fix is not ready. This time i called they want to know the mileage of the vehicle. I asked why and did not receive a valid answer from gm customer support. My toyota corolla had a takata airbag replaced two years ago. Why is it taking gm so longto repair a safety problem when other manufactures have completed they safety repairs ? customer satisfaction should be a top priority for gm. I don't believe "parts are not available" or an american engineer can't figure out how to replace an air bag. I am a father of an american middle class family and need to have this car repaired.

The fix is taking way too long, and in the meantime i can barely use my car since i can't have passengers in the front. I'm stuck making payments on a car that i can't hardly use.

Takata recall: i received a safety recall notice in march stating that there was a safety recall with no parts currently available for my vehicle. It has been eight months and there is still no remedy. I think this is an unreasonable amount of time to address this safety issue. In particular, i have been unable to use my front passenger seat this entire time and this greatly impedes my use of this vehicle.

Takata recallwas notified of the takata airbag recall (nhtsa recall 17v006; manufactur recall number n162017009) on january 10, 2017. It is currently october 28, 2017.i have tried calling my local dealership numerous times over the last 10 months, yet they continue to claim a fix is still not available. And that for safety reasons, i should not have a passenger in the front passenger seat.my wife is pregnant with our second child and is due in just over 2 weeks. The 2009 pontiac vibe car will only fit 2 car seats in the back row, which means that only 3 people are able to ride in the car due to this airbag recall. Since our dealership said that no fix will be available soon, we will be forced to use a second vehicle to transport our family anywhere we go. This is just plain unacceptable. The dealership should disconnect the passenger airbag, which would allow a passenger to use the front passenger seat. Sure, it may not be as safe as driving with an airbag, but from what i understand, it is a whole lot safer than having a passenger in the seat with a takata airbag.the 2009 pontiac vibe had only 31,000 miles on it when we were notified. It currently has 37,000 miles on it. There was a similar recall on the drivers side airbag years ago. We received notification in 2012 or 2013 about the issue and to contact our dealer (in new mexico at the time). They claimed no fix was available. It was only just addressed by our new local dealer (in virginia) in 2016 because parts were "finally available". That's at least 3 years and while also unacceptable, i don't have actual dates for it. I am fearing this current passenger takata airbag recall will take just as many years.

Takata recall - it has been over two years since i was notified of this passenger air bag recall. I have waited patiently, on top of altering my driving habits. Now that i have recently moved from il to florida, the "potential for the intrusion of moisture" has increased dramatically because of the humid climate here in sw florida. Even if there is no passenger in my car, i - as the driver - have an increased risk of "metal fragments ... Striking the vehicle occupants and result in serious injury or death". Upon recieving yet another recall notice (march 2017) i contacted pontiac and gm. Neither has offered a plan to correct this issue. Without this correction, i must continue to under utilize the car that i have paid in full to general motors. For example, with our recent move, we purchased many large items such as furniture and bicycles. We could not use the vibe's hatchback because that would require the back seats to be lowered, in turn, not allowing another person to ride in the vehicle with me - the driver. Furthermore, with family visiting from out of state, i am unable to transport them from the airport with their luggage, nor can we load up the car with beach gear (chairs, wagon, umbrella, cooler, etc. )and transport our family members in one trip. Again, we purchased this car with the intention of being able to use it. I need the air bag fixed or a comparable car loaned to me at no charge so that i can conduct normal life activities in my/another automobile without fearing for my, or my passengers' safety.

This recall is for the passenger side air bag. It has been under recall since january 10, 2017.in march, i received a letter about this recall. As of today, there are still no parts available to do the recall. Also, there is no indication when they might be available. The result is that i am stuck with a car that cannot have a passenger in the front seat. So, i cannot use the car for my family etc. Pontiac has not made loaner vehicles available so that i can carry out my business as i should be able to. I have attached the output of the website describing the recall and indicating that no remedy is available.

Takata recall - recall issued on my car january 10, 2017. I received written notice march 2017. It is now october 12, 2017 and there is still "remedy not available". I have made repeated calls to the dealer and to gm to get an estimate on when the repairs can be made and they have no information for me. I believe 9 months is much to long to have to wait for a recall repair. I have to borrow other people's cars when i need to transport another person in the car. I want to trade in my car for a new one, but i'm certain this recall is going to hurt the value. Having to wait this long and to still not have an answer as to when the repair will be made is wrong.

Takata recall.remedy has not been timely.have not been able to use the front passenger seat for almost 8 months.

My daughter was rear ended while she was sitting at a stop by a large vehicle going 40+ mph and was subsequently pushed into the back of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy on contact to or by any other vehicle. Due to there not being airbag deployment she suffered neck trauma and tendon damage to her shoulder.

"takata recall", i have contact the dealership more than 5 times and they keep stated the part has yet to arrive and they will contact me when it arrives.how long should i have to wait? or just get killed by the airbag.

Takata recall - i received a letter march, 2017 (5 months ago) that my pontiac vibe had a air bag recall. The letter warns that it is unsafe to sit in the passenger seat. This has forced me to keep my car in the garage most of the time. I can't sell the car easily. Since then, here has been no communication other than through the news. It is because of this lack of communication that i would never buy another gm car not to mention the other recalls issues.

Takata recall, i received a recall notice from general motors a couple months after the initial recall was issued by the company. Soon thereafter i contacted their customer service rep. Who told me a local dealership would conduct a temporary fix by disconnecting the front passenger air bag, so it would not go off in the event of a crash. The dealership told me that they could not perform this because it was a liability issue for them. Therefore, gm offered me gravely inaccurate information about the "fix" that could be performed. Gm did not offer a rental car/loan car for an "undisclosed reason told to them by pontiac human resources." my car may not be completely fixed until 2023, which i find to be extremely ridiculous given the severity of the issue.

"takata recall" - i received a recall notice six months ago related to my vibe. The recall specifically states until the repair is performed the front passenger search should not be occupied. As of today, the parts are still not available and the only thing the people at pontiac can say is "gm does not recommend that anyone sit in the front passenger seat."i believe i've been patient enough and that gm should have to provide a rental car or fix the vehicle.

Takata recall:we have been advised that the passenger airbag is dangerous, and that "in the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking the vehicle occupants, and result in serious injury or death."you can imagine that we took immediate action after receiving our airbag recall notice in march, 2017, calling every dealer that we could find, trying to get this problem fixed. Now we have been advised that takata is going bankrupt, leaving us in the lurch.i continue to call dealers and they continue to tell me that there is "no remedy" yet.since we do not have a fleet of cars, we depend on using this car to drive. We feel that gm and takata are putting our family at risk for a horrible outcome. Of course, we try not to use the front passenger seat but sometimes we have no choice.please please help us by making this replacement part available. It is incredibly uncaring for gm to put aside this issue and simply let people drive in this unsafe condition.please advise me on what i can do to help get my car fixed!!!sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall: the manufacturer has not remedied safety recall 17v006 for my vehicle in a timely manner and has not provided any updates on when the remedy would be available.

Takata recall.for over six months my family -- including a 5 year old and a three year old in child seats in the rear -- has waited for a fix to the airbag issue, which makes it apparently dangerous to have someone (wife or husband) in the passenger seat.we are moreover concerned that any explosive debris would of course injure a child in his child seat in the back, which is not really shielded by the separate seats up front.at what point will this impossible situation be remedied?we need to have full use of a safe car for our small family. We cannot forever be expected to rent cars for trips and more. The latest recall reminder we received in the mail -- regarding the potential for a fire due to the window switch -- did not even note the takata recall or warning to not use the passenger seat!

Takata recalli've been told there has been a recall, but it's been months and there is not any remedy for it.meanwhile, no one should occupy the front passenger seat.what can i do?

Takata recallapparently my recall states "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available." given the severity of this recall, i find it troubling that no remedy is available nearly a year after i was first notified. I have contacted my local dealer and they state that they cannot act until the remedy is identified. This my family's only car and rely on it daily. There has been no incident yet, but i do not feel safe driving a car with such a severe defect. I'm not sure what i can do, but this is not safe and the length to identify a remedy is irresponsible.

Takata recallour vehicle seats 5 and our family has 5 members. The vendor has instructed us to not use the seat, which makes our vehicle unusable. They do not have any date of when we may have use for our vehicle and refuse any remedy.

Takata recall. I understand there are millions ofairbags to be replaced. However it's been over 6 months since receiving a recall on my passenger-side airbag inflator, and they still haven't got the parts to replace it. I paid $18,000 for the car and would like to use the passenger seat. I realize it's lower priority than driver-side airbags, but it's still important. Please ask pontiac/gmc and takata to complete the recall in a timely manner. Thank you.

Takata recallmy complaint is simply that the front passenger seat of my car is useless because there has not been a fix for the recall and no one can sit in the seat.this has had a very big affect on our family and affects our ability to sell the car too (for what is was worth...who would buy it?) this has been going on too long.we have been patient and now we are really upset that no one has fixed it.

Sometimes when accelerating, it's slow to move, then a sudden jerk happens if i put pressure on the gas pedal. This happens when driving at lower speeds, i can be entering my garage or accelerating after a stop light or sign. Can be scary when it jerks during acceleration.the steering column is beginning to rattle and shake at about 45 miles sometime at lower speeds as well,a very rough ride on smooth pavement, feels like it's falling apart.the third issue has to do with the airbag indicator light staying on in both drivers and passenger sides while driving. When i went to dealer for an appointment it didn't happen but getting a diagnostic tomorrow for that. Bought the car used last year with about 37,000 miles, always serviced at the dealer where i purchased it. I now have a little over 53,000 miles on it at this time, just local diving.

Takata recall - it's been 8 and a half months since this recall has taken effect. The recall states that i should not have a passenger in the passenger seat until the airbag has been replaced. The airbag has still not been replaced and the recall status states "recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available". This is far too long for a potentially deadly issue to go unresolved and far too long for my wife and i not to be able to sit next to each other in our car. This needs fixed now.

Takata recallalmost 9 months ago, i was informed that my car's airbag could cause death by sending shards of metal at my head in a collision. To this day, there is still no remedy. I have contacted the dealership and was told they don't have any remedy outside of telling me to stop using my car. Since almost 9 months have passed, i felt the need to report here that gmac is not acting fast enough. No one can afford to rent a car for a year. This is not okay. Every day i worry about an accident because i can't afford another vehicle that is safer.

Takata recall - called gm - entered multiple tickets - told that gm doesn't have a solution to fix the defective airbag. Ticket number 8-3216300087 (latest ticket). Called on 11/17/17 - spoke to gm cust service... Told same thing ( gm doesn't have a solution to fix the problem) ... Customer service rep hung up the phone on me. The federal government needs to put pressure on the american manufactures to replace defective parts they put into an american automobile. My toyota corolla had an airbag replaced two years ago.

I have a open recall on my vibe for the front passenger side air bag. It has been over a year since i was first notified about the recall and i still do not know when i will get a replacement. I have called the dealership and gm about this and they can't tell anything either. I need someone to help me fix this problem. I live in the southeast of virginia. We have very high humidity and heat. These two factors are the prime issues causing these air bag problems. When can i expect to receive information on a fix for this. Also, i just received a notice that tk holdings has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. Is this going to cause me not to get a air bag replacement?

Takata airbag. I have a 5 passenger car with 5 people in my family. We are unable to use the front seat not allowing us to use the car. It has been 11 months for this recall. It would be nice to be able to transport the whole family in one car.

Over the last few years, on 3 different occasions, the same thing happened.i was entering the main road from our subdivision.i stopped at the stop sign.i was not in a hurry.when it was clear from both left and right, i began to enter the main road.then much to my surprise, there was a car coming from the right.where did that car come from? it wasn't there when i looked.but presto, there it was.i concluded; it was concealed from my vision by the right air bag post. On all three occasions i came close to an accident.that post is about 8 inches wide and about 3 feet from my eyes.it's simple math, when an 8 inch post is projected out to the 50 yard distance where the cars were hidden from my view, that 8 inch post conceals 50 feet.that means that there are 50 feet hidden from my right view every time i enter a main road.the air bag may solve the air bag safety problem; but it makes the right post 8 inches wide; creating an equally dangerous situation.

Per the recall, i tried to have the passenger airbag inflator fixed at a gm dealer. However,i was told that i would need to sign a waiver for any damage done during the recall repair because if the dash or other parts broke, they would not be able to replace them. They should be made to cover all of the repair costs to fix this major safety problem. Also note, that another gm dealer, where i got bought the car told they could not even get the replacement part on 3 occasions.

Takata recall of passenger air bag, july 2016.not remedied as yet. Michael alb erts

A recall notice on the air bag was issued in march 2017. It is now june 7, 2017 and pontiac still has no resolution in place and has not distributed parts to the dealers to replace the airbags. This is unacceptable. I cannot use the passenger side of my car so i cannot drive my family or friends anywhere.i rented a car for a week or so around easter to take a 4 day trip with family, where i had to drive 800 or so miles round trip. Pontiac refused to reimburse this cost because it said it is only a recommendation that don't use the passenger side seat but if you call they they say you could die if in sit in that seat and have an accident. Which is it? they cannot have it both ways.

Takata recall. It's approaching a year on this dangerous recall. Please step in and demand that remedies become available.

Takata recall - passenger airbag parts not available over 1 year after recall issued

Takata recall - we were notified in march, 2017 that a recall on the front airbags was pending. As of 10/18/2017, seven months later, the recall is still pending. When will it be completed?

Takata recall.i don't understand why my car has had a recall on it for the passenger air bag inflator for over two years, but they never have the part.no one is supposed to ride in the passenger seat - really, for two years?this is ridiculous!

In march we received a recall telling us of the passenger side air bag issue and potential fatal injury that could result.i called pontiac today and they have no idea when this problem will be resolved.in the meantime we are unable to allow passengers, or each either, in the passenger front seat.this is very difficult as my wife uses this car for business.the last recall we got on the 2007 vibe took over 18 months to resolve. (we sold that car and bought this one).0it's like the car isn't made anymore so there's no rush.please help.

Takata recall-safety recall notice as of januarty 2017, parts are still not available (after at least 12 deaths) october 3017 when i received a notice of chapter 11 filings by takata that stated to call my local gm dealership for free replacement. All calls made to tk holdings, airbagrecall and the ntsb just keep saying to call each other so i'm going in circles with recordings.

I have received several notices and made several attempts to get my airbag recall repair completed, but i have been told several times by 2 different dealerships that they either could not get the part or that i would need to sign a disclaimer stating that any damage occurring while the recall repair was completed would be my responsibility.the reason given was that pontiac went out of business and they would not be able to get replacement parts. I feel this is wrong and all costs to complete the recall and fix any damage should be gm's responsibility.this is an important safety recall for possible shrapnel coming thought the airbag when deployed.i do not feel safe allowing anyone to sit in the front passenger seat and if i resell the vehicle, then what happens?the dealerships are king buick gmc, 16200 frederick road, rockville, md 20877 (where i bought the car), and criswell automotive, 503 quince orchard road, gaithersburg (they told me about the waiver for damage). Please advise how i can get this recall fixed without paying for further damages.

My airbag warning light lit up on the dash cluster.(concomitantly, i noticed that the steering wheel controls for the horn, radio and cruise control also stopped working.)research showed gm recall 14139 for failure of spiral cable assembly (connected to airbag module, horn, cruise control and radio); however, we were told that this car was not among the recalled vehicles.how is that possible?the steering wheel has not been previously removed.any problem with the spiral cable was inborn at the factory.

No incident.just have been trying to resolve an issue that has rendered my car unable to have any other person in it as the back seat is filled with 2 car seats.pontiac recall letter from 3/2017 said to contact the customer assistance center & they were no help. Called again 10/2017 & they basically said they would get to it when they could. Called the nhtsa on 5/17 & they were no help.called them again 11/2017 & could not get through to anyone. Called the tk holdings number & they told me to access safercar.gov, which is not helpful since i already know my car is under recall.i have been driving an unsafe car for 7 years & can't get any recourse.the resale value of my car is compromised & i have been given no hope that this safety concern will be resolved.does someone have to die first before this recall is addressed?

Takata recall - i first received a notice from gm motors in march 2017 advising that the front passenger air bag was being recalled. I was advised that i would be contacted when replacement parts became available but still have not received anything. I went to a gm dealer auto repair center back in july & they advised there wasn't anything they could do since parts weren't available. None of the airbags in my vehicle have been deployed during the course of this year.

Takata air bag recall.in july i was notified of the recall.to this date there is no repair available.basically i can not longer use the vehicle in the way it was designed and there is no solution.apparently gm is accepting responsibility but i have no recourse but to suffer the loss of value of my vehicle.how can the government allow this indefinite solution.

Takata recall:my car has been recalled since january 2017 and the pontiac dealership still has no parts and/or remedy in order to fix the recall. It has been 9 months and they still are unable to address the recall. Obviously i don't want anyone to be injured while in my vehicle should the airbags deploy! i put today's date in the box at the bottom of this page (even though i didn't have an accident yet)

Takata recalli received notice many months ago about this recall along with several others. As instructed by general motors, i took my car to the dealer for repair and replacement and was informed that there is still no fix available for the dangerous airbag. I was warned in the notice not to transport anyone in the front seat of my car until the airbag is replaced. This is a grave inconvenience for me and my family!!! i inquired about gm taking the car back and was told that would not be possible. I have been waiting now for 2 years.this week i got another notice informing me that the manufacture of the airbag has filed chapter 11 bankruptcy!!! still no remedy available!!!i need gm to repurchase this car from me. Why should i be stuck with it and not getting it's full use and have to worry each day that something deadly may happen. Please help me to appeal to gm to take this car back!!! thank you so much for your help.

2 weeks ago my drivers side airbag warning light came on and has been staying on. I looked up on recall and saw that toyota has a airbag recall affecting the cable switch to the airbag. 2009-2010 vibe spiral electrical cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. It also says that toyota has a improved part. It does make me nervous driving with this on. I took my car to [xxx] buick they said they do not know anything about the recall and will fix it for 500 to 1,000 dollars. I talked to a [xxx]at the gm hot line. He said there is no recalls for my car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Previous complaint filed #11022315. Recently received notice from tk holdings inc.notice stated i should contact my nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free repair. I called hare chevrolet, noblesville, indiana, by phone & was told parts were not available to repair the front airbag, even though the notice said they were ????

I have been waiting since march 2017 for airbag to be fixed. Still no parts or rental caravailable and i have been told not to have a front seat passenger. Other brands offer rental cars, why not pontiac?

Takata recall. Issued a recall on car in january 2017 according to website, but did not get letter about recall until mid-march 2017. Dealer states no parts are available for recall despite living in high heat (and therefore higher risk) area, and cannot say when parts will be available. Notice states passenger shouldn't sit in front seat; which is untenable for my family. Gm should be required provide loaner where there is a risk of death due to defective part, but dealer will not despite dangers posed to those in the car. Five months after initial recall is beyond a legitimate "reasonable time" to repair a known, lethal defect, yet no one at gm or anywhere seems to care.

Takata recalli don't mean to add fuel to the fire, but it has been almost nine months since a recall of my pontiac vibe 2009, purchased in 2008, was issued. Earlier a few years back, the driver airbag was replaced as part of a recall.no problem. We are in a very humid area, still nc is listed as a zone 2, further extending the wait time. And increasing the possibility of a tragedy. Please hurry with a solution. Thank you.

My 2009 pontiac vibe is experiencing the same problems as the 2005-2008 toyota matrix is regarding the stalling issues.

Pontiac vibe 2009: on certain vehicles, due to fat misapplied the main switch to control electric window on the driver side could get stuck or stop working. If we tried to lubricate the switch may overheat and melt. A switch that could melt produce smoke and cause a fire damaging property or injuring someone.correction: dealers will inspect the master switch to control electric window on the driver side and apply special grease that prevents heat buildup, or replace the circuit board of the switch, if necessary.number of vehicles affected: 16,724.

Purchased the 2009 vehicle used with 103,000 miles, car was decent at first.. Now loss of power and the car shuts itself off constantly when going to start it. Makes a diesel sound very rough. Sometimes turns itself off more than once in one day or every other day. Garages have looked at the issue but nothing found !

Received recall on above vehicle. Called dealer (smicklas) chevrolet, told to bring vehicle in. Took vehicle in on 3-12-2009 and [xxx] (service mgr) told me they didn't have the tools to do the job and and that they had been sending vibes to the toyota dealership for recall repair and that otherwise he didn't know what to tell me. Told him i would call gm to see what they said. Left dealership and filed this complaint.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My 2009 pontiac vibe base 1.4l has serious manufacturer's defect steering issues that make it feel very unsafe to drive.at low speeds there is a rattle that comes from the steering motor and intermediate shaft (2 separate issues which are expensive to fix and no longer covered under warranty) which makes the car feel like it's broken and falling apart.at highway speeds the steering is unpredictable, it overcorrects and fishtails back and forth. This car feels like a death trap, i completely regret my purchase and feel as though it is unsafe for the long term.these issues are directly related to the toyota matrix as they were made in the same plant with the same parts.

The contact has a 2006 pontiac vibe that has the same problems problems as the toyota corrolla. The pontiac stalled while driving and the the owner had to wait 45 minutes before it could restart. The dealer fixed the problem, but the contact would like to complain that the dealer says that it was the electronic control module. There was 32000 miles when it happened and 35000 miles. The vehicle had sat for about an hour and then stopped after driving for 15 minutes at 35 miles hour.

Power window master switch failure.shorted and caught on fire. Fire was isolated to switch and door panel, however interior of car did fill up with smoke.power window master switch was previously addressed as per bulletin 15791a however recall did not remedy defective part/hazard.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving various speeds, the check engine, vehicle stability control, all wheel drive, and abs warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (jones buick gmc truck located at 1335 manheim pike, lancaster, pa 17601; (717) 394-0711) where it was diagnosed that the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning technology of the indoor and vehicular environment needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 888-327-4236 and advised the contact to call nhtsa. Case number: 8-3025152974 was provided. The failure mileage was 92,690.

I cannot roll down my windows since they are on recall since november 2012. I have to show a badge when i enter my community and must take off my seat belt and get out of the car to do so. I only received one letter and was told i would receive a second. It has now been over four months.

Car has the accelerator problem and the brake problemthe odometer reads that the car is traveling 50 mph and the car is really doing 42 mph, the passenger seatbelt turns off with passenger.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving 15 mph, after opening the driver side window via the power window controls located on the driver's side door panel, smoke appeared from the door panel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. When the contact restarted the vehicle, the smoke disappeared. An independent mechanic informed the contact of a recall involving the power window control unit. The dealer removed the door panel and diagnosed that there was a fire inside of the driver side door panel. The power window control unit also needed replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The contact mentioned that he did not receive the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 12v491000 (visibility). The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The dashboard warning lights came on.the lights did not provide enough warning time to allow my husband to pull off the interstate (and turn off the car) before the engine overheated and was destroyed because of a damaged water pump.the vehicle was serviced on the same day (transmission drain/fill and tire rotation) and there was no earlier warning that there was an issue with the water pump.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,669.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 17v006000 (air bags); exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall notification in march of 2017. The dealer (sutliff chevrolet, 1251 paxton st, harrisburg, pa, 17104) stated that the parts were unavailable for the repair. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Various lights come on in the dashboard, i forget now exactly which lights, but i think it was the abs light, the vsc light, and the traction control light.this happens only for a few minutes in a month or so.when it happens, the abc, vsc, and traction control do not work (i tested it in a snowy parking lot).i went to salentine pontiac a couple years ago, and they said that since it is so intermittent, they are not really likely to be able to find the source of the problem, nor know if they would have fixed it.i contacted pontiac via e-mail and phone, and was told they have no idea what the problem is, and have never even heard of such a thing.looking on the internet, i found several other people with the same problem. Now i see there is a recall involving exactly this issue, but it is apparently only for the pontiac g6.it seems unlikely that the vibe problem is not related.i would hate to see g.m. Go broke, but the things they have been doing are unconscionable.

The check engine, stabilitrack, and vsc lights all came on at the same time. I have noticed several other postings on the internet about this problem.i have 55,000 miles on the vehicle.

Periodically (once or twice per month) the anti-lock brakes, traction control, and vehicle stability control will stop working for a few minutes.when it happens, the warning lights all go on.i tested the function in a slippery parking lot, so know the various features stop working when these lights go on.i looked in the internet and found several people have the same issue.they have been told it is everything from a bad gas cap to a connector on the brake sensor to a cracked computer circuit board.i asked my dealer at the time about it, and they said realistically if it only happens for a couple minutes and then might not happen for a month, they don't know what's causing it nor even if they would have fixed it.i called pontiac and they said they never heard of the problem and told me to take it to a dealer and let them look at it.i don't want to run up hundreds or even a thousand dollars looking for a problem that only occurs a few times per year.but if several people on the internet have the same problem, i think it should be addressed.it obviously is a safety problem when brakes and vsc don't work properly, even for a minute or so per month.the dealer where i purchased the car (salentine) went out of business.i mentioned the problem to the dealer i now visit ([xxx])and they say they have not heard of the problem.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On may 11, 2016 while driving on i -81, my car with 86,000 miles on it suddenly started to weave back & forth across the interstate. I thought the tie rod had broken. I was able to slow down and pull off the road. Then i called a tow truck and had it taken to the nearest repair shop..no warning lights came on until the gm mechanic plugged in his code reader.then lots of lights lit up.he said that the electronic control unit went haywire and caused the abs system to fight with the stabilitrak system. All i know is that a extremely dangerous failure happened.if we had been in heavy traffic, or on slick rainy or snowy roads a serious accident would have occurredthis failure reminds me of the problem toyota had years ago with their vehicles suddenly accelerating out of control.. I was driving home from work this evening, which is about 25 minutes away from home, when my vsc, engine, and battery light came on. I was at a red light and was going to pull into to a grocery store lot. My car would not go into gear. I tried several times with no result. I was stuck in the turning lane of the intersection. I shut off the car and restarted it. I was able to turn into the parking lot and went around to turn back to my work parking lot, as soon as i stopped for a couple seconds, the car would not go into gear once again. I had to leave it in the lot overnight. When my friend came to tow it, he was able to put the car into gear with no issue. He took it to a local auto parts store and they ran the diagnostic codes. The codes stated that it was the transmission solenoid. I had that changed out and then on the day i got it back, the battery light came on, it would come on and then go off. On the way home after running errands, the light came back on, when i parked the car at home, the light was on. I turned the car off and tried to restart it and nothing. I let it set for a few minutes and tried to restart it. It started back up, i checked the alternator belt to make certain it did not come off, and shut off the car again. I tried to restart it and nothing.

For the past year, the vehicle has exhibited excessive oil consumption requiring one quart of oil per every 1000 miles.consumption is greater in the winter (closer to one quart every 800 miles).this vehicle is equipped with the 2.4 liter engine - the same as the toyota matrix and corolla.toyota has issued a warranty enhancement (ze7) and tsb recognizing this defect - so far gm has not done anything.(i have been in contact with gm.)at a minimun, gm should match toyota's actions.the estimated repair cost to replace the pistons/rings with a better design is >$4000.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 60 mph. The instrument panel lights illuminated after the failure occurred. The contact was able to coast onto the road shoulder, restart the engine and resume normally. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 90,200.

Due to a manufacturing defect with the engine, the vehicle burns over a quart of oil every 1000 miles. This means it requires a waiver to pass inspection. The 2009 toyota matrix, which shares the same engine, had a recall issued. The vehicle was in motion on a highway. The check engine light and abs warning illuminated, distracting the driver. There was no collision, but a near miss.

Excessive oil consumption, defective piston rings.the 2009 pointiac vibe gt shares the same engine as the 2009 toyota matrix.the engines were manufactured in the same plant.toyota has issued a warranty enhancement program ' ze7, to fix the premature wear of the defective piston rings.gm has not issued as similar fix (as of march 2017). Pontiac owners are responsible for cost of the repair.

The check engine, stabilitrack, and vsc lights all came on at the same time. I have noticed several other postings on the internet about this problem.i have 55,000 miles on the vehicle.

Exsesive oil consumption. Motor can sieze during operation resulting in steering and braking failure.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving between 45-50 mph, the contact lost contact of the vehicle because the accelerator pedal traveled to the floorboard. The contact quickly shifted into third gear, but it did not slow the vehicle down. The contact then shifted into neutral and the motor revved up to 7,000 rpms. The contact shifted back into drive, but the vehicle was still accelerating. The contact powered off the engine and coasted the vehicle into a driveway. The vehicle was restarted and the engine revved back up to 7,000 rpms. The contact powered off the vehicle a second time. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

Intermittent, but increasingly frequent engine stalls at highway speeds and slower speeds. Stalls may happen at cruising speed or when decelerating or accelerating. Occasionally, engine races or chokes. Usually requires turning the key to off and then restarting the engine in neutral or park. Similar problems as experienced by owners of 2005-08 toyota matrix and pontiac vibes who had the ecm recalled. This ecm replaced under warranty on 6-3-14. Recall of 09 and newer models may be warranted to prevent dangerous crashes and rear-end accidents.

This car has the 2.4l toyota 2az-fe engine, which has a known defect in the piston rings, leading to excessive oil consumption.those of us with pontiac vibes apparently have no recourse through either toyota or gm.

2.4l engine w/ 150000 miles burning excessive amount of oil;appx. 1 qt per 1000 miles

Serious oil consumption problem, every thousand miles i am down 1 to 2 quarts of oil. I've tried different types of oil different types of treatments and i've had gaskets replaced and still consuming lots of oil.it is definitely not leaking .

Excessive oil consumption, burning oil, to the extent of 8 quarts between routine oil changes

My 2009 pontiac vibe 2.4l engine had excessive oil burning and it went from bad to worse in a matter of days. I had it looked at and the piston rings were faulty, which then led to my engine seizing, and also my seat belt buckle which connects to the seat will not latch in the drivers side in the drivers chair and and also the drivers side passenger seat which is major safety hazard. My engine was maintained every 3000 miles with oil changes and it has 154,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 128,000.

Excessive oil consumption

The engine stopped at freeway speed. This was the sixth time that this happened over a period of about a year. Once off the freeway and stopped, the car does restart. I have taken it to a dealer, but they did not do an official inspection since there were no codes and the car was running fine. This was just after the car had dies on the freeway in december. That was about the fourth occurrence.they suggested cleaning the battery terminals which were a little corroded. I did this and installed a new battery. The stalling has happened twice since. Ihave been talking to gm customer service and their suggestion is that i pay to have diagnostics done at a dealership. This is a statement from their chat:however, we can see what assistance is available, however, given having over 100,000 miles does limit what we can do.ok, so you're not allowing us an opportunity to look into this further.12:32:34leaundre:i can document this concern in our system.the specialist will do nothing further unless i pay to have the diagnosis done on the car.

Excessive oil consumption with the 2.4 liter engine

Car shuts off completely while driving. Happens completely at random. After placing in park, removing key, re-inserting key, restarting, all is fine for a while. Probably faulty ecm.

I bought a 2009 pontiac vibe with a 2.4l engine a little over a year ago with around 80k miles.i noticed right away that it was using about a quart of oil around every 1k miles.it now has a little over 90k miles and uses about 1.25 quarts of oil per 1k miles.i found thattoyota admitted to a problem with the 2az-fe engines that are in their matrix and camrys, as well as the pontiac vibe, and have offered the ze7 warranty enhancement program to replace the pistons and rings in these products to correct the excessive oil consumption issue.i contacted gm service to see if they were going to offer the same program for these engines since they purchased these defective engines from toyota.they responded by saying that there were no open service programs open for this car.i asked them why gm wouldn't admit to the problem as toyota did, and offer a program similar to the toyota program to resolve the issues with this engine.they responded again by saying that there were no open service issues for this vehicle.i think it's very irresponsible of gm to not acknowledge a problem with these engines and offer the same support for them as did toyota who supplied the engines to gm.i grew up as part of a gm family, but won't plan to buy any future gm products due to their lack of support for their customers with an obvious product quality issue as is found here. If toyota acknowledges a problem with these engines and provides support to their customers, why doesn't gm offer similar support since toyota supplied the identical engines to them?doesn't make for good customer public relations and doesn't provide any incentive to buy future gm vehicles.

Pontiac vibe with toyota corolla 2zrfe 1.8 liter engine consuming 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles.seafoam / lucas oil solution has been attempted with no positive results.since neither toyota nor gm will help us, i wonder how long the catalytic converter can last burning the excess oil.

Without warning oil consumption went from normal to over 1 quart per 1000 miles.this is a known defect whichtoyota notified its customers of, gm choose not to notify.this excessive consumption, not leaking resulted in a seized engine.gm is not accepting any responsibility and i believe they owe me either a full repair, or pre-event market value.while they originally offered to cover 2/3 of the repair they have backed away from that offer offering a $2500 customer loyalty on a purchase, both are unsatisfactory to me, as they were made aware of the problem and chose not to notify owners.car with passenger was in the hoa lane when engine failed causing a 7 lane transition without power. Car was towed, no crash due to the experience of the driver.

Starting about 80,000 mile my car started consuming oil of greater than 1 quart every 1000 miles.now at160,000 miles it consumes 1 quart every 500 miles. I have the 2.4 l 4 cylinder engine that came fairly standard with this model year. I have seen this complaint alot on web pages.my rav 4 2006 with the same engine had the same consumption problem.toyota did an extended warranty on this problem for the rav 4 and i think gm should do the same for my vehicle.toyota has an advisor out for the sister car the matrix for the same model year.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

I've had multiple faulty engine control modules in my 2009 pontiac vibe.it may be a coincidence, but felt it worth reporting since it may be related to nhtsa campaign 10v387000 which covered the 2005-2008 models.

Car is stalling on initial acceleration from stop often - especially in warm weather and city type driving.. Occasionally stalls when coming to a stop. Occasionally increases rpm's randomly. These instances have caused major safety issues when navigating traffic.below does not offer option to state this problem has been ongoing since purchase.

The check engine and traction system control warning lights were coming on and off intermittently. The first repair was replacement of the pcm (computer that controls everything) due to a short. Within 2 days the warning lights again came on intermittently. After a few days of searching for the problem the dealer performing the repairs obtained info on similar reported claims from the gm company. It was found out that there is an oxygen sensor that goes bad and does not set off a warning as it should, and this again caused the pcm to again short out and need to be replaced. The dealer has been very good about finding the problems and doing the repairs; but now i am afraid to drive a car i just bought 2 months ago, for fear that the computer will again burn out and i will lose control of the vehicle!

2009 pontiac vibe. When the car is in drive and the car is stopped or nearly stopped, the engine races to 7000 rpm. This causes the vehicle to suddenly move forward into an intersection. To regain control i must shift to n and continue to apply the brakes as hard as possible. This occurs at random intervals. After i turn the engine off and back on it seems to work ok till the next time. I took the car to the dealer three times. The first and second trips to the dealer they said they found no trouble vehicle met specs. No parts replaced. The third time the dealer kept the car for two weeks, the car was returned on feb 19 2010. The dealer performed a two modifications to the vehicle. 1. Accelerator modification, and 2. They removed the driver floor mat. Today 02/22/2010 the car malfunctioned again, causing a near collision.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While the contact was at a traffic light, he noticed that the rpm's increased beyond 2500 without the contact pressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealership and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 9857.

2 weeks ago, i started smelling a gasodor coming from the front of my car as i drove.then as i started it and stopped it ; i smelled it.now it smells likeexhaust all the time.i took it to the dealer today and they went over the entire exhaust and gas system and said it is fine.they agreed there is a "chemical smell", but nothing is wrong or the computer system would alert us. I picked up my car andit still smells like exhaust, not a "chemical" .my husband and i became nauseous driving after and hour last week and had to roll down the windows.he said he was light headed. It never smelled like this before and i can't stand driving it not only because it stinks but possible carbon monoxide.

Catalytic converter odor inside car upon medium or greater acceleration on pontiac vibe 20092.4l engine. This is vehicle type complaint.

Exhaust smell inside passenger compartment. This is an ongoing problem. Dealership states there is no problem.

Inside door handle breaks off easily.when taken for repair, repairman laughed, stating this is thecar this month with broken interior handles. Part is on backorder.safety issue, as must open window to open door to exit vehicle.in emergency, this could prove to be fatal if unable to exit vehicle quickly.*ln

Recall # 10038 floor mat interference and accelerator pedali received this recall notice for my 2009 pontiac vibe back in february 2010. It instructs me to remove my floor mat until further notice due to the possibility of interfering with the accelerator pedal leading to crash, serious injury, or death. I have yet to be notified by g.m. Of any remedy that is available. I would certainly like to be able to have the use of a driver side floor mat! when will this be resolved?

Vehicle was purchased in 2008. I own a 2009 pontiac vibe which is now included in toyota's recall. Recall # 10018: accelerator pedal sticking and recall # 10038: floor mat interference and accelerator pedal.

My 2009 pontiac vibe is experiencing the same problems as the 2005-2008 toyota matrix is regarding the stalling issues.

2009 pontiac vibe i had gas pedal and floor mats recall done to my vibe yet it still accelerated on me up over 2000rpm's and 70 km an hour without touching gas pedal. Car wouldn't stop doing it so gm came and picked it up. They have had my car for over a month now.service advisor said they were changing the computer in car. I don't feel safe to drive this car again if it was a faulty computer will they replace it with the same. Gm costumer service will not return any of my calls.

Today i had the"gas-pedal" recall performed on my 2009 pontiac vibe.i immediately noticed it requires much less effort to depress the pedal - so much less, in fact, that i consider it dangerous.i got out of my car and complained to a service manager about this.he said they had done the repair exactly as the instructions called for and there was nothing more they could do.i feel that pontiac dealerships should replace the entire pedal assembly for those of us complaining about this, just as is being done by toyota dealerships with the matrix.after all, it's essentially the same car.

The engine in my 2009 pontiac vibe, 5-speed manual transmission, often fails to return to idle. This occurs when the engine is both hot and cold (electronic control module is in both the open and closed loop mode.) when working correctly, the vehicle returns to idle at 800 - 900 rpms. When the vehicle fails to return to idle, the engine revs at approximately 1,000 - 1,200 rpms. I have confirmed that the floor mats are not interfering with the accelerator pedal and the pedal is not binding in any way. This has not resulted in a run-a-way vehicle, as it is a 5-speed manual transmission.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 86,000.

When coming to a stop, occasionally the vehicle will lunge forward.i have noticed this on many, many occasions since purchasing the car in july 11.when coming to a fast stop (such as when someone pulls out in front of you or someone suddenly stops in front of you -- abs is not being used as these are not panic stops) the brakes will work as they should until the car is almost stopped and then the car will lunge forward and i suddenly need to apply more force to the brakes to make the car stop.i suspect that the computer in the car is using engine braking to assist in slowing down the car and when the car hits a certain speed (or some other variable) the engine braking is turned off which causes the amount of pressure that i need to apply to the brakes to suddenly increase which gives the impression that the car is lunging forward.regardless of what is causing this issue to occur, it is a safety issue.i have grown used to this issue and now can compensate for it, but it is still distressing when it occurs.i have talked to other vibe/matrix owners and they all state that they have the same issue.i believe that this is a significant safety issue as it could easily lead to an accident.

Car shuts off completely while driving. Happens completely at random. After placing in park, removing key, re-inserting key, restarting, all is fine for a while. Probably faulty ecm.

On tues. Morning, aug. 31, 2010, at 6:51 a.m. (per receipt), i was stopped at the precinct line & hwy 183 starbucks drive-through window.my 2009 pontiac vive was in drive & my right foot was on the brake as it would be at a stop light.as my transaction proceeded, i heard a terrific, loud racing of an engine that sounded like a race car & then felt my car begin to move forward.i thought it was the car behind me doing something weird or being somehow out of control.i pushed harder on my brake to protect myself, but my vive started to surge forward.i then realized that this was the "toyota problem" happening to me & i, therefore, put the car in park & turned the engine off.as i put the vive in park, the engine raced wildly & i noticed the tachometer bouncing crazily up the scale.i exclaimed to the workers that my car was doing the "toyota thing."they just stared at me with wide eyes.i tried turning the car on again, this time with both of my feet on the brake; the engine raced wildly once again, & the tachometer bounced wildly.my feet remained extremely firm on the brake pedal.the brake pedal felt strangely weak, as though i was able to push it further to the floor than normal.i turned the vive off a second time & told the starbucks workers that i didn't know what to do, in that i was in their drive-through lane & i was afraid to turn the engine on to try to move away.i was panicked; they remained wide-eyed and speechless at the noise and spectacle.i decided to try a third time; this time the engine acted "normally" but sounded and acted weak.i was very scared as i drove away & was unsure of what the car would do next.i called my husband to meet me at work a few miles away to pick up the car that i no longer trust to drive.the starbucks manager and drive-through window barista who witnessed this event gave their names & phone numbers to us & are willing to confirm the event.recall 10038 was performed 6 days prior to this occurrence.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving 65 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that there were metal shavings in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.

Repeated front brake repairs to stop heavy vibration when applying brakes. Vibration is extreme in the steering column and the stick shift, and sometimes throughout the car. Repairs were done 3 times in 18 months, and it keeps coming back within a month after repairs.i never brake hard to cause this.transmission repeatedly pops out of 5th gear during acceleration, reportedly caused by defective or broken synchronizer.had to replace transmission.

I have a 2009 awd vibe which will, at times, upshift after braking causing the car to lurch forward for a second due to the upshift and upon taking my foot off the brake and then applying the brake again apparently does the same thing again. It only does this at about 30 to 40 miles an hour and mostly when going down a moderate hill i come upon no my way home from work. I have advised the dealer of my concerns but they seem to be unable to duplicate the problem and have no idea how to address it. The problem is concerning enough to me that i won't let anyone else drive the vehicle. I have not had the transmission reprogrammed as it doesn't seem to help from what i have read on other complaints. I have had all the other unintended acceleration issues addressed and it is not related to that problem.

I have a 2009 pontiac vibe.i have noticed that the car double accelerates. When you press the accelerator it revs up and the car lurches forward.it doesn't matter how soft or hard you press.i took my car in after the recall and had the accelerator altered but i still notice the problem.i asked the dealer to check the brakes also and they said it is fine. I don't know if its an engine problem but i have always noticed it.now that these issues have come to light i am validated that my concerns and others who have driven my car are real.i am afraid to have an incident which could potentially lead to injury or death.my five year old rides in the car on a daily basis with me.please advise me on what to do.thank you.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that on june 4, 2010, while at a traffic light, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a wall. The contact sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. A police report was filed. The contact had previously been complaining about the transmission but the dealer refused to repair it. The contact called the manufacturer who referred her to back to the dealer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 50,000.

I drive a 2009 pontiac vibe (essentially a toyota matrix) and under the right circumstance the vehicle will upshift right after you put on the brake causing the vehicle to surge ahead for a moment due to the upshift. It only happens at around speed of 25-35 mph. This is obviously not a pedal issue but a transmission programming and or solenoid valve issue in the transmission. The car has been reprogrammed per the tsb for harsh shifting.i will admit that some of the harshness has gone away but the upshift issue while slowing down still remains. From what i have read many others have had this issue as well, even after the reprogramming of the transmission (check out genvibe.com, you will find other owners suffer from this as well).the issue is especially noticeable while coming down a hill and it happens to me almost daily because i go down a large hill outside of my house daily.i am very careful while going down this hill to have my foot on the brake at all times as the car can upshift at anytime causing a brief forward surge.there are always children waiting at the bottom of the hill for the school bus when i leave in the morning so i am concerned for there safety more than mine at the moment but as i said, i am always extremely aware of the issue and very careful while descending the hill.i would be willing to demonstrate this issue to anyone if needed.

Whenever the contact changed the seating position he noticed that the left base rail would not connect allowing the seat to move freely. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where the contact was informed that nothing could be done to correct the problem. The contact has noticed the failure since the day he purchased the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 9857.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving less than 20 mph, the vehicles brakes failed. As a result, the abs warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the drivers side rear hub, bearing, and sensor had to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,089.

At stop, vehicle attempted accelerating. Much pressure on brake pedal needed to keep car from moving. After shutting off engine and restart, seemed ok.third and most significant occurance.*ln

When traveling at low speeds (less than 35), there is a noticeable shaking / vibration / rattling noise coming from either the steering column or front shocks, especially noticeable when driving over rough surfaces or bumps. Seems to be more drivers side.looks like others have had similar problems as well as toyota matrix (built on same line with same components) i have not yet had the dealer inspect the issue. Seems as if some component has come loose.

Experienced a momentary loss of braking while going over a bump at a moderate speed.the single occurrence happened when going through an intersection bump, on a very cold and rainy day.my foot was on the brake, slowing down through the intersection (approx. 35 mph) and hit the bump.the brake pedal immediately went to the floor with no apparent braking.i believe the anti-lock brake light turned on during the brake loss, but it happened so fast i can't say it did for certain.a moment later i released the brake and pressed it and the brakes were back to normal. This incident occurred approximately 1 year ago, and has not happened since.i purchased the car new about 20 months ago.make pontiacmodel vibeyear 2009engine 1.8 litertransmission manual.

Car has the accelerator problem and the brake problemthe odometer reads that the car is traveling 50 mph and the car is really doing 42 mph, the passenger seatbelt turns off with passenger.

2009 vibe had recalls done to my car yet it still accelerated up over 2000 rpm and 70 km without touching gas pedal also the traction control and abs lights came on at same time. In my opinion it has nothing to do with gas pedal or floor mats..the dealer came and picked it up as it wouldn't stop doing it. They changed cam sensor it didn't work .then they told me they were putting in new comp. System. Its will be a month this wed. And car is still at dealers.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving 10 to 15 mph, she depressed the brake pedal and it felt as if the abs engaged.it took extra effort for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. She was almost in the middle of the intersection before the vehicle stopped completely.she cited the weather as cold and rainy.another driver of the vehicle also confirmed that they previously experienced the identical failure.she had not taken the vehicle to the dealership or spoken with the manufacturer to date.the vehicle had not been repaired when the complaint was filed.the current mileage was approximately 18,000.the failure mileage was approximately 17,800.

I was able to detect this before any accident occurred. While checking the rear brakes i noticed that there is uneven wear of rear brake pads. Passenger side outer pad is positioned in an angle which causes premature wear of that pad while all other pads are wearing evenly. Such defect (caliper position) causes rotor damage and possible wheel lock. This is a second vibe with the same problem that i've seen. The passenger side rear caliper needs to be adjusted and repositioned.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the brakes on the vehicle made a very loud noise when the vehicle began moving forward or backwards. The failure has occurred since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer replaced the brake pads on the vehicle four times, yet that did not correct the failure. The dealer stated that the brake pads on the vehicle were the not the right size. The failure mileage was 12 and the current mileage is 6500.updated 09/27/10 updated 10/01/10

I own a 2009 vibe . Recall has been completed re: sudden acceleration. They removed drivers floor mat over a year ago. I had first episode today. Fortunately it was at about 10mph. When i engaged the brake the engine revved and the brake pulsated like the anti-lock feature had been activated. The engine revved for 3 to 4 seconds the car accelerated. When the engine revving stopped the brake engaged properly and the car stopped. Fortunately i was on a street where the speed limit was 25 mph and i had coasted down to about 10-15 mph approaching the stop sign. Had this been a high speed or emergency stop the results could have been deadly. Please contact me about this as this vehicle is not safe to drive. I will also be contacting the nhtsa.the above is a copy of information i sent to general motors via their pontiac web site.

Driver reported failure of vehicle stability control and anti-lock brakes.warning lights were flashing on the dashboard.vehicle was taken to repair shop and repaired at cost of almost $800 to replace the rear wheel assembly where the abs sensor is located.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe purchased new. He stated while driving at speeds of 50 mph on a cloudy day, a deer ran out into the highway in front of his vehicle. Hedepressed the brakes but the brakes would not engage. The contact struck the deer, killing it instantly. The police were called to the scene and a report was filed. There was moderate damage to the front-end of the vehicle. There was a recall campaign on the service brakes (nhtsa campaign id number: 09v392000; component: service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:vacuum), however his vin was not included. No repairs were made to date. The failure mileage was 1700 and the current was 12,812. The vin was not accepted.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact was sitting at a traffic stop with the brakes depressed when the brake pedal suddenly fell to the bottom of the floorboard. The contact stated the failure would occur intermittently. The dealer replaced the master cylinder and brake booster but to no avail. The contact stated the vehicle had been taken to the dealer at least ten times in regards to the failure. The failure persisted and the dealer then advised that the brake pedal was operating as designed. The failure mileage was 10,000 and the current mileage was 26,909.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving various speeds including approximately 35 mph, the contact attempted to engage the brake pedal he noticed that both the brake and accelerator pedal depressed at the same time. After examining the brake pedal the contact noticed that the brake pedal was only 3 inches apart from the accelerator pedal. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership. The current and failure mileages were 3400. Updated 03/04/10 on tow occasions the accelerator pedal jammed with the brake pedal operating. The brake collapsed and became the same height as the accelerator, which caused both to became depressed.both the accelerator and brake pedals were very close together.updated 05/17/10

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving 10 mph and approaching a stop sign and engaging the brake pedal, the vehiclewould not stop. The contact had to apply extreme pressure to the brake pedal before the vehicle would stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the vacuum pump caused the brakes to fail after the clamp fell off of the hose. The dealer repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that they were not sure why the clamp came off of the hose. The failure mileage was 21,000.

Rattling during low speeds, feels loose and uncortable, reported to dealer after firt year of ownership, purchased new, seems to be getting worse and feeling unsafe. Each time reported was told not a safety problem just noisy, could replace column at my cost but noise would peobably return, now feeling unsafe

At highway speeds above 60 mph, my 2009 pontiac vibe feels like i am driving through a wind storm.this requires me to constantly correct the steering wheel, in order to maintain the direction that i intend.this can be annoying and possibly dangerous.i am most concerned that if the wheel pressure is not maintained at the recommended tire pressure, one could easily lose control of the vehicle.(i check and maintain the air pressure in my tires, monthly.)

While driving the vehicle the it became very hard to steer and the power steering light was activated.no warning signs of any nature.can not drive the vehicle and dealership can not look at it until 4 days.

Intermediate steering shaft rattles at all times, especially when going over bumps at a slow speed.

Steering column rattles on most roads

When attempting to stop, shaking and vibration of the steering column and the car in general occurs. It's feels like the car is going to fall apart. This occurs in speeds over 25 mph.

Loud rattling on front driver side when going over bumps or braking. Rattling seems to get worser each day. Sounds seems to have something to do with suspension or steering column according to local mechanics. Mechanic recommended to report this issue as it is very common upon 2009 pontiac vibes and its cousin the toyota matrix. I feel unsafe, it sounds as if something is getting loosened as it progress to rattle louder each day.

When driving at speeds greater than 35 mph the vehicle's steering becomes unpredictable. Initially while attempting to correct the wandering direction of the car nothing will happen. When correcting further the vehicle will catch itself and over-correct. It feels as if you are driving through a wind tunnel or getting passed by large trucks even if there is no wind and no other vehicle around. When the wind is blowing it feels as if you are driving on ice. This became an even bigger problem when winter weather hit and roads actually became icy or snowy. Also, when coming to a stop the steering wheel will occasionally and unpredictably turn at least 45-90 degrees in either direction resulting in the vehicle "wandering" into an adjacent lane.

Was driving down the road and without notice my steering had no power, really scared because i could barely steer the car, so glad i was in a 45 mile zone. I looked at my dash lights, there was showing a red battery light, several brake symbols, something about the traction loss. I need my car so badly, i don't know if gmc will cover this. If i had not pulled off road and called my husband i would of wrecked because of it being so hard to steer. He came and slowly drove it home and i followed him in his car.no notice and no warning at all.

Rattle from steering column when braking from high speeds or driving over slightly uneven pavement.

2009 pontiac vibe steering feels like steering wheel not controlling direction of vehicle and slight turns cause car to turn more than it should.when parallel parking on left side of one-way street and pull into traffic, no visibility to see if cars coming from behind.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving 15 mph, the power steering failed and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to drive the vehicle home. When she turned off and restarted the vehicle, it operated normally. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,400.updated 01/04/17*ljupdated 01/17/17.

2009 pontiac vibe, which is mechanically identical to toyota matrix, which in turn is based on toyota corolla. All three vehicles have really light steering (too much boost from electric power steering) that it becomes very unstable and dangerous when the speed is over 50mph. I know that there are many people who reported this problem on toyota corolla but i think nhtsa should be aware that toyota matrix and pontiac vibe share the same problem.

Very pronounced steering rattle at low speeds over rough terrain and also when braking.

The electric steering in the car doesn't allow you to steer in the right direction. The steering in numb and it makes a noise and it takes 3 seconds for it to adjust. I believe you have noticed this problem through other complaints but why are you guys hesitating to announce a recall on theelectric steering?

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving approximately 30 mph, there was a rattling noise that came from the steering column without warning. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the intermediate steering shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was diagnosed that the intermediate steering shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and was diagnosed that a knuckle on the lower end of the steering column was uncharacteristically enlarged and the entire steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,500. Updated 1/13/16 ln

The power steering failed completely and without warning. The steering warning light illuminated on the dash. Steering suddenly became very difficult, presenting a very dangerous situation. After stopping, all fuses were checked and found okay. Shutting off/restarting car did not solve the problem.steering remains disabled. No other symptoms or problems.car is being towed to dealer for repair.

Wandering steering at highway speed of my 2009 pontiac vibe versus stable steering of my 2006 pontiac vibe.

At speeds below 25 mph, a rattling is heard and felt through the steering wheel.the dealer replaced the upper and lower steering column but this did not fix the problem.the dealer claims there is no fix for this problem, per gm.the car still makes the noise and vibration... And is getting worse.a search of this problem revealed many complaints for the same thing.there is no way that i could sell or trade this vehicle with this problem.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated she continued to drive the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to ed schmidt gmc (26875 n dixie hwy, perrysburg, oh 43551) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a power steering failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. *as

My 2009 pontiac vibe base 1.4l has serious manufacturer's defect steering issues that make it feel very unsafe to drive. At around 30 mph and then again at 70 mph there is a rattle that comes from the steering motor and intermediate shaft (2 separate issues which are expensive to fix and no longer covered under warranty). Currently over 100,000 as an original owner.

At highway speeds and local speeds the car pulls to the left intermittently.when an attempt is made to correct this the car over corrects and pulls to the right.frequently when coming to a stop (especially on an uneven road) the car pulls severely to the right or left (almost 90 degrees).

Took my car to [xxx]because power steering control module went out the same part that they been recalling on there other cars. Steering - my 2009 pontiac vibe has serious manufacturer's defect steering issues that makse it feel very unsafe to drive. Even at low speeds there is a rattle that comes from the intermediate shaft, it rattles feels loose, and gives an uncontrolled feeling. My 2009 has only 59,300 miles on it. (aprox. 6,500 a year) this car has not been driven hard, all routine maintenance has been done on the car. There is something going on when there are so many complaints. They claim its not a safety issue. Are they waiting till people die from the issue? it most definitely feels unsafe, when it feels loose it does cause steering and safely issues at all speeds.

Steering column rattles when going over bumps and braking. At highway speeds it rattles and shakes continually.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. She stated that while driving 35 mph the vehicle began pulling to the left and when applying the brakes, it would pull the steering wheel to the left. She had to use excessive force to control the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and they diagnosis indicated that the steering column needed to be repaired. The accelerator also became stuck, the vehicle accelerated, and within a few minutes the vehicle lunged forward. There have been no repairs made to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 27000 and the current mileage was 38000.

While driving 60-70mph on an expressway in heavy/gusty winds i suddenly heard a loud "woof" sound accompanied by heavy drag and pulling of the vehicle to the left. After regaining control and making my way to the side of the freeway i found that the wind had ripped the splash guard/air dam clear off with the exception of the last fastener on the driver's side. This resulted in the part dragging under the driver's side tire. I was assisted by onstar and a tow driver who helped me to remove the piece, as i would be unable to safely drive the vehicle with it dragging. The dealer replaced the part at my cost and informed me that it would not likely be covered under the 'bumper to bumper' warranty because this type of damage is usually the result of collisions with parking blocks. (basically saying they didn't believe my account of what happened). I was supposed to be contacted regarding an investigation within 1-2 days but so far no word from pontiac.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact crashed into a vehicle which tore off his front bumper. He took the vehicle to a repair shop and was told that they do not have a bumper to repair his vehicle. The dealer and the gm manufacturer were notified and stated that the they are not sure when the parts will be available.the vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 7,800.

The internal door handle (front drivers side) of my 2009 pontiac vibe broke into pieces.no extreme force or aggression was applied to the door handle - it was simply used to open the door and it broke into pieces.

2009 pontiac vibe. Consumer several problems with vehicle *tgwthe consumer stated the tires had to be replaced, because the vehicle would not steer correctly and it vibrated on a continuous basis. The consumer stated the vehicle felt as though it had no suspension system. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where it was discovered three of the rims were damaged.

Tire pressure problems on all eagle tires that came with car.had side walls cleaned and tire leakage continues.tires have to be refilled every 2 weeks.will need to replace all tires.problems began with less than 30,000 miles on tires. Ntb notified owner that eagle discontinuing this tire.dealer claims they have not heard of any other complaints regarding this problem.

Reported vehicle recall to gm buick, cadilac dealership in morrowm,ga of recalls on vehicle.they stated my car is not on recall list.i asked them to fix problem and service department personnel said he can not help me.i feel i jeapordize my life driving a defective vehicle which is the same as toyota matrix vehicle with all the same type of parts from toyota and manufactured by gm.i feel i will be endangering my children lives if i continue to drive this vehicle with out the necessary fixes that need to be done to vehicle.

I bought a brand new pontiac vibe [xxx] and now got another recall in the mail to the ones i already had done in the little over one year i owned it!! ridiculous to buy a new car and have all these recalls and then i just had another safety issue a dealership had to do on my car in addition just a few weeks ago that was not a recall. Now another recall came. As a consumer and i buy a new car it would seem that there is a limit to the incompetence problems and recalls. I do not have time to mess w/ these constant recalls which is why i bought a new car to begin with so i dont have to worry about. What is being done about these poor vehicle products being pawned off on the consumer? why are we paying all this money for vehicles that recall every couple months for something else? where is the consumer being reimbursed for all the time and aggravation for the mishaps? it makes no difference if the parts/labor are no cost to me-my time and lack of a vehicle is costly. There is no excuse for this incompetence on this model at this point. I should either get a new car to replace this that actually runs properly or a large reimbursement of money for the lack of quality i bought. I want some answers and as a consumer this service is poor and any other company would be out of business for this many recalls and lack of quality. I am having issue with excessive oil consumption for the last 6-9 months.before i hit 3000 miles the oil has burned up and there is nothing on the dip stick.i took it to goodyear and they said to take it to thedealership.i took it to ed rinke in centerline mi, where i purchased my car and they were unable to find why it was happening.when i took it for my last oil change at goodyear in warren mi they said there might be a recall.i have found a forum were others were having the same issue and upon researching it appears to be an issue with some of the toyota's as well.i occasionally notice a burning smell when i am driving but it's not all the time.i also sometimes experience my car catching when it's shifting or shaking when idling.i'm not sure if these issues are related, but when i take it for service they cannot seem to find what is causing the issues.i took it in this past sunday for my latest oil change but this has been ongoing since last year in april 2018 when i took it in to the dealer for the airbag recall.

Upon applying brake at stop light, car accelerated.another time when waiting in driveway for garagedoor to open i applied brakes and the car accelerated.both times nothing serious happened as i was a safe distance from anything in front and the brake worked.both times in fall of 2009; car had about 7000 miles.

My car started to stall and pull to the left almost hitting another car as i was making a right turn.i thought it to be just an aberation.i went to a parking lot away from the school to test drive my steering and try to duplicate the problem.nothing happened, so i went to work and there was no problem.my job is about 12 miles from daughter school taking the back road and not getting on the highway. After work i took the interstate back home through some heavy traffic and there was no problem from downtown to my home aproximately 1o miles taking the interstate.as i was coming from off ramp i notice a litttle stutter and car powering down.i was able to drive for about 1 1/2 miles and the car almost came to a complete stall and started pulling to left.i press the gas peddle all the way down. All the panel lights came on abs, engine, etc. I mean every single light. I pulled car in to amoca. He said it was throttle body.i got 2nd opinion.he said that did not sound right.he said take car to dealer.i am taking car to gm dealer to run diagnostics.i do not want to risk getting my child killed in this car.

My 2009 pontiac vibe is experiencing the same problems as the 2005-2008 toyota matrix is regarding the stalling issues.

Over sensitive accelerator pedal. Recall fix has made my accelerator pedal much too sensitive. It has become difficult to maintain a constant speed and to accelerate smoothly. The toyota fix is totally unsatisfactory.

Prior to the current recall campaign for sticky accelerator pedal, i have experienced three occurrences of that problem. All three times, the car has continued to accelerate, while i am braking at a stop sign. All three times, the pedal has successfully released. The recall letter came feb. 13, and the repair can be scheduled after february 22, 2010, so nothing has been done yet to correct the problem. The main reason for my complaint, (also based on extensive experience with cars), is that the conditions under which my car has malfunctioned, are not the conditions described in the recall letter. The letter says "over time, the internal mechanisms in the accelerator pedal may become worn. As a result of this wear, combined with certain operating and environmental conditions, friction in the mechanism may increase and intermittently result in the accelerator pedal being hard to depress and/or slow to return...." one occurrence was in the first 300 miles or so of ownership, and was in warm dry weather. At least one of the other two occurrences was before winter hit. My car also has only 4600 total miles on it, has been parked in the garage for weeks, and will not be driven until i think toyota or pontiac have actually solved the problem. In other words, my car does not have the miles on it to cause "wear," especially for the first occurrence of the problem, nor has it malfunctioned in the cold moist conditions that i have read are the conditions described in the recall letter. Therefore, it is my strong opinion that the "sticky accelerator pedal" condition is not due to what the recall addresses. A more possible cause, is as i have read from some owners, one of the computers.

Our 2009 pontiac vibe suddenly attempted to accelerate while driving up hill through an intersection.my left foot was firmly on the floor block located next to the driverside kick pan. My right foot was covering the brake pedal. The vehicle was slowing down (approx. 30 mph.)as i rolled up the hill and was idling normally. Shortly before entering the intersection the throttle advanced substantially. The rpm raised to approx. 2500,but the transmission did not down shift. I was easily able to control the vehicle by pressing on the brake pedal. Since there was no traffic near by, i decided to continue allowing the vehicle to continue at approx. 30 miles an hour while controlling the speed with the brake pedal. The vehicle proceeded approx 200 yards when suddenly the engine shut off. I restarted the vehicle without any problem. I can not repeat the conditions because any degree of throttle at that speed will normally cause the transmission to down shift. My wife who has complained that the cruise control has come on by itself while driving on the expressway. Two days latter the vehicle exhibited a different throttle abnormality at the same intersection. I am a master certified ase automotive technician with extensive electrical background. This had nothing to do with a stuck accelerator pedal.

Part of the pontiac vibe is built by toyota. I am concerned about the recent recall of the toyota matrix which is basically the same vehicle as the vibe.has anyone checked this out? *cw

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v006000 (air bags) and 10v024000 (vehicle speed control). The parts needed for the repair were not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The parts were not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer (pat obrien in willoby, oh) did not give a specific date for when the parts would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I have a 2009 pontiac vibe with less than 5000 miles on it.after filling it with gas, i was moving it from the pumps to the parking area about 30ft away.suddenly the engine raced. I stomped the brakes and threw the car into neutral. The engine continued to race until i tapped the gas pedal. The engine then returned to idle.the pedal was not stuck on anything on the inside of the car. I had just gently accelerated to move the car. The engine just suddenly raced independent to anything that i had done.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the rpm increased and the vehicle erroneously accelerated while the brake was being depressed. The vehicle crashed into curb and into a concrete barrier. There were no injuries. The contact stated that the failure recurred approximately four times and was taken to the dealer three times where the accelerator pedal was replaced each time. The manufacturer was notified who stated they will have a representative call the contact within the next couple of days. The failure mileage was 29,000 and the current mileage was 34,500.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 20 mph. Additionally, the accelerator pedal was applied, but the vehicle failed to move. The check engine and vsc off warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referred the contact to general motors (300 acme dr, monroe, nc, 704-283-8175). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 10v018000 (vehicle speed control). The failure mileage was 167,000.

The accelerator in our 2009 pontiac vibe acted up for the third time this evening. While each episode has been different, all 3 episodes have taken place in virtually the same place. It had the recall performed on it over a week ago. I have already filed a compliant with you. This time the car suddenly attempted to accelerate while i was coming to a stop. As stated before, i had no problem holding the car back with the brakes. This episode was only a few seconds long. I am an automotive technology instructor with master automotive ase and advanced engine performance certifications. I taught electronics at a local college for approximately 10 years before taking this job. I have done advanced rf and communications work. I have had experience with machine language microprocessor programming. This is not a sticking accelerator pedal!!! i have tried to duplicate the situation many times with no luck. The occurrences are very random. My wife has complained in the past of the cruise control seemingly engaging while down town on the i190. I now believe those episode are relate to the same problem. Please contact me!

2009 pontiac vibe. Consumer writes in regards to potential floor mat interference with accelerator pedal and power window master switch recall notices. The consumer stated she attempted to get the recall resolved on two separate occasions, only to be informed, the parts were not available.

Accelerator defect/recall. It occurred once in 2009. I had to putthe car in neutral because the engine was racing. It took approximately 30 seconds for theengine to return to normal. The floor mats were not jammed.

-the contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact received a recall notification. The nhtsa campaign id number was unknown. The authorized dealer was notified and they stated the vehicle had prior recall repair performed on the vehicle. The contact disputed, stating that the vehicle had not been repaired under the recall. Additionally, the dealer mentioned the vehicle was repaired in a state that was not the residency of the contact. The contact was displeased with the inaccurate information and suggested the dealer inspect the vehicle to verify the repair was not performed. However, the dealer refused to investigate. The current mileage was 42,000.

My fiance and i have experienced the sudden acceleration problem in her 2009 pontiac vibe both before and after the factory retrofit a shim in the throttle. Both times we were going slowly (<20 mph) as we approached a stop sign and releasing pressure on the throttle did not cause the engine to slow. Each time the problem persisted for 2-3 seconds.case i:clear day in february 2010 with good road conditions on level ground. The engine did not throttle back when linda took her foot off the gas and put it on the brake. For perhaps 2 seconds the engine raced.i had time to look at the tachometer and saw it was about 2500 rpm, with the gas pedal released and her foot firmly on the brake. Perhaps two seconds after she released pressure from the gas pedal and applied the brake, the rpm dropped and the car came to a speedy halt.this pushed the car about 3 feet past the white intersection demarcation line before it stopped. The day before this happened, linda and i had removed the driver side floor mat. Linda promptly took the car to her dealer and had the warranty repair to the throttle mechanism completed within a few days. Case ii:friday july 9, 2010, was a clear day in july, much warmer, with excellent road conditions on a newly paved road.this time the transmission did not "gear down" as one would expect under normal operation, which i believe, kept the engine from racing.again as in the first case, for perhaps 2-3 seconds after linda had taken her foot off the gas and applied the brake, the vehicle resisted her attempt to make it slow smoothly.then the engine sound diminished suddenly, as the transmission executed a "hard shift" down and the vehicle came to a controlled stop, also several feet past the intersection demarcation line, but not really out into the intersection.last week, pontiac replaced the throttle assembly.

We purchased a new 2009 pontiac vibe (toyota, matrix platform) in april 2008.we drove it for nearly two years and accumulated a little over 20k miles.in early march, we returned from a six or seven hour trip and were going through a local car wash when suddenly and unexpectedly, the accelerator depressed under my foot and the engine increased in rpm's and the vehicle launched forward nearly hitting the vehicle ahead of us in the queue.in february, we had received the recall notices from gmc, but the local dealer had not received the repair kits yet and had postponed our repair until early march.we immediately took the vehicle into the dealer and on march 5, they made the repairs.when i asked what were the nature of the repairs and they explained that a shim was installed in the accelerator linkage and some floor matting was removed, i knew that the repairs would not solve the problem we experienced.(as a son of a used car dealer, and former mechanic myself, i knew the nature of the problem was not mechanical, and it was more likely either vacuum or electrical in nature.)therefore, in fear of some potentially disastrous future problem for my wife when she might be driving the vehicle, we immediately traded for a new 2010 ford fusion.i also wanted to trade the vehicle before it also became widely known publicly as a toyota, matrix clone, and the resale value dropped out of the bottom.sorry, but toyota, has a ways to go before they will convince me that the problem is strictly floor mats and accelerator linkage shims.

I was stopped in traffic at the entrance to baxter state park in maine in august 2009. I was driving a 2009 pontiac vibe. When the car in front of me advanced a few feet, i touched the gas pedal lightly to move forward. When i then stepped on the brake, the car kept advancing. I pressed harder on the brake but the car kept moving until it struck the car in front. This was at very low speed, as the car had moved only several feet. There was minor damage to the car in front, and only scratched paint on my car.

Pedal accelerator - when driving, the car accelerates on this own even when the accelerator pedal is not depressed.the result is increased speeds, and when reaching a stop, the car has to quickly be placed in neutral or park to stop the car, else, it will continue to move.there was a previous recall for this situation with gmc and there was an attempt to fix this issue with my vehicle.however, it has become an issue again.this has happened several times, and it poses a safety hazard.

Leaving a stop light in alpena michigan, the gas pedal began to go down and sped up the car by itself. I immediately turned off the key and let it slow down. Then turned the key on and it sped up by itself again!. This time i put it in neutral and the engine sped up rapidly to 4 to 5 thousand rpm. Once again i turned off the key and then on again and it seemed normal after that. The cruise control was off. The only thing that would cause this type of defect is a faulty cruise control!!no, the floor mat was not involved!!i purchased this auto from schafer chevy of pinnconing michigan on 1/22/15. I feel these cars should be recalled immediately, as to how dangerous they really are. If my wife had been driving this car, i am sure she would have panicked and i hate to think of the result!!. I am stuck with this car, and will be the only driver since i know what to do if it happens again. I refuse to sell to someone else. With abs braking, they will not stop regardless how hard you push, therefore i have disconnected the abs system. I am from the old school and know how to "pump" my own brakes. I sure hope you people would do something, instead of passing the buck and blaming something else! but as usual, i don't expect anything speedy from our so called government.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. While attempting toshift into the drive gear the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning, causing the contact to crash into a nearby pole. The contact suffered minor injuries yet a police report was not filed for the incident. The vehicle was not diagnosed and there were no prior warnings. The vin was not available. The current and failure mileages were 30,000.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated when she removed her foot from the accelerator pedal. The contact was able to slow the vehicle down by shifting into neutral. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileages were 33,500.updated 5/16/12 the dealer was unable to find anything wrong. Updated 05/23/12

I was in the process of pulling into a parking space with my 2009 pontiac vibe. I had my foot on the brake pedal , within a foot of coming to a complete stop, the vehicle accelerated suddenly.the sudden acceleration jerked my wife's head and my head back. As the vehicle accelerated i pressed down on the brake pedal as hard as i could. The vibe came to a stop on top of a snow bank and damage was done to the front of the vibe.this was the first time the vehicle did this. The second time was also in a paved parking lot. I was pulling into a parking spot, i had my foot on the brake and just before i wanted to stop the vibe accelerated suddenly, but, not as hard as the first time. I depressed the brake as hard as i could to stop the vibe. The vehicle did not hit anything this time. This happened on feb. 13, 2010. No one was injured in either of the occurrences.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, an unexpected increase in the acceleration occurred without warning. The contact engaged the brake pedal; however the vehicle failed to stop and crashed into the rear of another vehicle. In addition, the air bags did not deploy. There were no personal injuries. A police report was filed in regards to the incident. The vehicle sustained severe damages and was towed to an authorized dealer for body repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. Also, the vehicle was repaired for two recalls associated with nhtsa campaign id numbers 10v018000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal) and 10v024000 (vehicle speed control: accelerator pedal). After the recall remedy repairs were performed, the unintended acceleration malfunction recurred on two different occasions. The vehicle was taken back to a dealer where they could not diagnose the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2009 pontiac vibe. The contact stated while entering a parking space and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle abnormally accelerated.the vehicle jumped a curb and crashed into a concrete telephone pole yet the driver was not injured. The vehicle sustained extensive front end damage and the police responded to the scene where a police report was filed accordingly. Vehicle was purchased in 2008. I own a 2009 pontiac vibe which is now included in toyota's recall. Recall # 10018: accelerator pedal sticking and recall # 10038: floor mat interference and accelerator pedal.

The driver side window imploded showering me with glass while driving on the interstate 435 in the kansas city area.this was unexpected, nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle on the rain wet roadway while a panel truck was passing me on my left side.i have heard of other incidents of this nature establishing a pattern of failure for this window as well as the passenger side front windows.a retainer notch at the bottom of the glass seems to be a weak point which causes sudden failure of the tempered glass which can result in injury from glass in eyes, down clothing as well as loss of control of the vehicle.

Both rear hub and wheel bearings components have rusted and worn out close to failure; rear wheel noise was excessive.actual failure would have resulted in rear wheels locking up.

Our awd 2009 pontiac vibe came with factory chrome wheels. After one winter, the wheels began to corrode around the outside perimeter. Gm agreed to replace all four wheels, and they did. Soon after replacement, as my wife was driving into our garage, one wheel delaminated (i.e., the chrome covering separated completely from the aluminum underwheel). Upon inspection, it looked as if the chrome layer had been glued to the underwheel. We went back to the dealer, chrome covering and glue fragments in hand. The dealer replaced this defective wheel with another; soon after (50 miles?), the second replacement wheel did the same thing. It has now been replaced. (the chrome parts are stamped "toyota.") note three things: one, the wheels on this car are not inexpensive steel with wheel covers. Instead, they are one-piece chrome wheels, rather expensive if i should have to replace them myself. Second, we had not abused the car. We drove, in each case, about 50 miles on good pavement in good weather before failure. Finally, the chrome component delaminated in a "safe" area--in both cases, as we slowly drove into our garage. What if this delamination had happened while we drove at highway speeds, and the chrome component had spun off into a crowd, or another car? there is one other problem you should know. We have had trouble starting this car. In brief, the problem was apparently difficult for the dealer to diagnose, but it was a "cracked steering lock," also a part stamped "toyota." this problem precipitated several phone calls for help, pushing it from the side in an attempt to unlock the steering column/key, and a visit from the tow truck. We were able to rock the car ourselves and enable starting; unfortunately, we dented the front fender, which was an unreimbursed body repair at the dealer's ($800). Please publicize these vibe problems and dangers, and work for fixes.

Center wheel caps (emblems) are popping off. I took it to the dealer for service for a front end problem a booming sound. They replaced the r front shock and assembly. The cap had come off. The dealer wrote it off to kids and theft. After some complaining they replaced it. One week later the r front cap was missing once more. I had to buy a replacement. 2 weeks later i watched mywife pull into our drive way and observed the cap come off and roll into the neighbor's yard. Dealer says there is not a problem kids are just taking them. Now my vibe rolls without the center caps. I can not afford to replace them every month or 2.
