I have received my third recall notice for a faulty passenger side airbag. The first time it was replaced with another faulty bag. The second time it was replaced with another faulty bag. So now i have been notified for the third time that they don't have anything available to replace it with. This is very frustrating and a bit scary to know that i am driving around with a defective airbag that is not safe. I hope this issue will be rectified soon before people are hurt.

Takata recallon 5-6-19 my passenger side air bag recall was done at luther chevrolet. On the way home i noticed the right front corner of the air bag cover appeared to be sticking up a bit.i returned to luther.it was pretty late, they had my car the whole day. (i dropped it off the day before)i told them i would reschedule an appointment at a later date.on monday night 6-10 i again left my car at luther so they could "fix it"tuesday night i went to pick up my car to find that now the right front corner of the air bag cover was flush, but now the left front corner was sticking up! eventually, i spoke with chris shugg, the service dept. Manager.he told me that the replacement air bag was "too tall" and wouldn't allow the cover to fit flush as it had originally. (at this point he had unknowingly admitted it could fit flush)he then told me he would have to order another air bag, and i would have to bring the car in again, and this would fix the problem.on monday night (6-19-19) i dropped the car off again.i picked up my car tuesday and the left front corner of the air bag cover was still sticking up. So i told the available service writer to have chris call me again. Chris did call me, he then told me that the dash board, or the air bag cover must have "distorted or warped" due to age and it is "just a cosmetic issue", there would be nothing more luther could do for me. I did not agree with his opinion, after all, the cover was flush before the recall was done.he then suggested that i contact g.m. Customer service.i called gm customer service on 7-2-19i was given a reference number of [xxx].she told me a senior adviser would be calling me regarding my situation.i spoke with lisa on 7-11-19 who echoed chris' assessment that this is purely a cosmetic issue. My 2007 pontiac vibe was recalled in aug 2019 to replace a defective takata airbag. Eleven months later, parts are still not available! would you people at nhtsa please do your job and force gm and toyota to get my car fixed? i'm afraid to drive myself and my children in this car!!

Takata recall was performed on 3/25/16. On 6/11/16, the owner of the vehicle (my mother) was driving on an interstate highway and struck another vehicle, which was stopped, during a heavy rainstorm. There was heavy damage to the front of the vehicle and the airbags did not deploy. The driver struck the steering wheel. The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where the driver was treated, including x-rays, and released. Several people have commented about the fact that the airbags should have deployed in this type of collision. Due to the fact that there have been recalls on takata air bags, including one involving the passenger airbag which has been completed on this vehicle, this should be looked into.

Takata recall.was notified in july 2015 by letter of airbag recall in my pontiac vibe and that i would receive notice when the parts would be available in a reasonable amount of time.i would like to have this corrected so that i may have a front seat passenger ride in the vehicle without fear of airbag injury or death. My daughter was driving at a speed of 45 to 50 mph on a road with a posted speed limit of 55 when another car hit a patch of ice while coming out of a driveway and slid into the road in front of her.my daughter could not stop in time and ran into the left front third part of the other car.the other car was considered totaled by their insurance company.the front of our car had significant damage so because of it's age and because we didn't have collision coverage i decided it wasn't worth trying to fix so it will be auctioned at a salvage yard.the reason for the complaint is that the driver side air bag did not deploy causing my daughter's face to hit the dash causing significant facial injuries.almost everyone involved seemed to think that it was odd that the air bag did not deploy so we thought we should report it.

Collision with another vehicle where the front of my vehicle struck the side of the second vehicle.my air bag did not deploy and my shoulder belt did not lock in place during the crash.

I was traveling at approximately 65 miles and hour but traffic came to immediate stop so i hit brakes to miss traffic ahead. Immediately car went into skid and out of control. I tried to avoid hitting median after car began to slide toward the left and it over-corrected to the right and i hit a semi truck's tire and spun 180 degrees.

Driving to work one morning my car enginedied, as i rolled to a stop by the curb i tried to restart the engine (no good). Now that my car is in the shop, i am told the throttle body has gone out and this is in combination of the computer needing to be replaced also. I have just over 39,000 miles and warranty out @ 36,000. Miles.

I was following a bicyclistgoing about 20mph when my engine cut off and wouldn't restart.it was fortunate that i was able to coast into a driveway because i had just rounded a curve and any following vehicle would likely have run into me.the problem was computer failure and has been corrected.

I own an '07 pontiac vibe. On march of 2011 the car stalled pulling into a turning lane. Took a minute then started back up and drove about 5 miles. Later that day, the car stalled coming to a stop with all lights still on. Would not start at all that night and had to leave it stranded on the side of the highway. Next day, the vehicle started then made it about three miles to the nearest mechanic shop. They informed us that we would need to get the vehicle taken to a official gm dealer. That our pcm was the problem. The car did not start up again after that and had to be towed there for the cost of 65 dollars. I started doing my research on this part to get a better handle on the problem and what is would cost. I found that the "recall" for this part on '05 through '08 models was taking place. When i contacted to dealer about this they had no idea about the issue, and gm said my vin number was not part of the recall. After contacting customer service about this (a very time consuming procedure) they admitted that there was in fact a recall. After the car had been at the dealership for a week i finally get a phone call telling me the pcm has been replaced but that my throttle positioning sensors were "off" and that it was to cost $864. Frustrated with the situation and still wanting to educate myself i kept doing research and calling mechanics (specifically my trusted mechanic, not con-artists) concluding that the pcm fails at its soldering points and creates a gap in the metal creating an arc destroying the next in line, which is the throttle positioning sensors. So i contact gm further to get that replace being as the bad pcm is the cause. Nowthe customer service agent has passed the case to her service manager. Now i am receiving nothing but a runaround and do not understand how they can conduct business in this way. My hopes are pretty low about the outcome.i have been car-less for two weeks now and yes it is my only one. I will never buy a gm vehicle again.

Check engine light on, transmission fluid black, and hard shifting of the automatic transmission, diagnostic code p2716.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v387000 (engine and engine cooling) before the contact owned the vehicle. The contact stated that the service engine light illuminated, the vehicle was slow to accelerate, and the vehicle stalled several times. The vehicle was taken in for an annual inspection and a code indicated a failure or malfunction with the ecm. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the code was reset more than once. The code continued to display and the vehicle was not able to pass an inspection a second time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

This vehicle was driving down the road at highway speed and failed to respond to throttle. There was lots of traffic and this nearly caused an accident. The part that failed is the ecm/pcm and gave a code: p0604 and p0607. This part has recalls which apply to it, however, our manufacturer says the vehicle is not covered by this recall. If there is a recall on some of the vehicles how can the others be perfectly fine? the year coverage is from before and after this model year and yet only certain cars of this time frame are covered? stay away from these vehicles. They will kill you, they are unsafe and unreliable. Major safety hazard.

After 27 september 2010 "pontiac" finally "officially" advised of "important safety notice" regarding my 2007 vibe, equipped with 1.8l mfi engine and 2 wheel drive transmission. On 3 december 2010, gm issued a "parts availability update" to dealers that replacement parts would not be available until mid-january and advising dealers they would be advised just before "recall notification letters" are issued.on 11 january 2011, the nhtsa odi website indicated the safety recall is expected to begin on or about 14 jaunary. Contacted my dealer 11 january 2011 who advised that my vin is "not currently listed a part of a recall." found this odd since my vehicle has one of the recalled engine control modules (ecms), specifically part number 89661-02k30, which is one of two part numbers found on essentially all 2007 pontiac vibes and toyota matrixs with above engine and transmission. Contacted gm customer no service at 1-800-762-2737 and received an incredibly self-serving line of "double-speak" clearly designed to not address my complaint. Essentially, the way this "game" works is that no vehicle already known to have a defective ecm is "official" identified in gm's database as "recalled" until they actually send out the second "recall" notices - notices that have been delayed over 4 months. Gm won't even admit to their own dealers, much less their customers, that a gm vehicle with a defective ecm is in fact defective until they have parts in had to affect the repairs. Meanwhile they are deliberately leading their"customers" to believe they have a "safe" vehicle, knowing full well this is not the case. It is now 9 april and the notices for 2007 and 2008 vibes have still not been issued, a delay that is now seven (7) months and counting.again request a criminal investigation into unconsciousness practice and appropriate action take to compel gm to cease and desist this despicable, if not criminal behavior!

I was driving my 2007 pontiac vibe.i had just started to accelerate when the car stalled.it would restart and then die.i had the car towed to the dealer from whom i purchased the car.they diagnosed the problem as an internal short in the ecm.the ecm was replaced and i have had no problems since.i was not given the old part.

Ntsb campaign 10v387000we bought the car used.within a week ck engine light came on.scan returned code p0741.possible cause defective ecm which controls torque cov solenoid.took to gm dealer.they said a recall and tsb showed the ecm should be replaced.when they looked at ecm, said it had already been replaced under recall campaign, and they would only replace one time.reset code, came back on a few weeks later.is there any way ntsb can require they repair same defective part required under recall a second time?especially if causing same problem and code as the recall was required for?

My 2007 pontiac vibe's check engine light came on back in september of 2010. I took it to my local dealership and the mechanics told me it was a pcm module. I was told that a recall was going to happen in october. October came and went and when i called gm they told me it would be in november. Each month i am told it will be the following month. Here it is ,march and still no recall. I am paying insurance, registration and payments on a car i can"t drive.the symptoms are hard shifting and some vibe owners have reporting stalling while driving 40 miles per hour. I commute 70 miles round trip and am afraid that it will stall so i have had it parked at work these seven months. I don'tunderstand why the part is not available for gm but was available for toyota. I feelgm should have taken care of this along time ago.

Sudden acceleration when i slow down to stop for a red light with my foot on the break pedal.suddenly, the car roared up to around 5000 rpm.i shifted the gear to neutral, but the engine was still roaring loudly for at least 3 to 5 seconds before it returned to normal. I have reported this problem to the dealer within the first year i bought the car. However, they could not find the problem.it seems that this only occurs 2 or 3 times per year.but this time it lasted more than 10 seconds and i noticed the rpm went up to around the 5000 mark.cars that are stopped alongside my car can also hear the engine roaring very loud.

2007 pontiac vibe has continuously produced a check engine light with code p0741-torque converter clutch.the vehicle acceleration is sluggish at times.this check engine light has come on at least 5 times, at which time i sent the vehicle to a gm dealer for repair.the vehicle was repaired twice under warranty and is in the shop a second time out of warranty for the same check engine light.recently the gm dealer has been keeping the vehicle for at least one work week and has never produced any document showing any work was completed on the vehicle.whenever i complete a longer trip i.e. 60+ miles the cel will come back on.i am not getting a straight answer on what is wrong with my vehicle.i have been assured that all parts and labor related to this error code will be taken care of free of charge because the preliminary incidents happened under warranty.i fear the check engine light will continue to come on, forcing me to lose a vehicle for a week in what seems like once a month.my car had a 5 year 80,000 mile warranty.the first cel came on at or around 75,000 miles.

I was driving the car and was stopped in heavy traffic. The car started shaking very badly and trying to move forward, although the brakes were pressed all the way down. This has happened again occasionally, and have noticed a pattern of when i am stopped for about 10-25 minutes the car starts violently shaking and feels like the brakes are about to give way, although they are being fully pressed. Again, this is not just a vibration, this is the entire front of the car (engine and all) almost bucking out of position. When this happened the first time, it almost hit the car in front of me even though my foot was pressed all the way down on the brake.another issue, which can become a safety issue is the car is leaking from the rain outside into the vehicle by the frame (drips). If you do not check before the vehicle starts and when you start driving and turning, the drips can go in your eyes, causing your vision to be impaired.

The manufacturer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the previous recall and offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, it began to violently vibrate. The vehicle was shut off and the contact looked underneath the vehicle and noticed the engines heat shield was vibrating. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the bolts which held the heat shield in place were corroded and fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure and current miles were 45,185. Upfdated 07/08/11*ljupdated 07/15/11

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the vehicle would vibrate abnormally and shifting was difficult. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 10v387000 (engine and engine cooling), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs. After repairs, the failure persisted and the dealer advised the contact that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The contact did not inform the manufacturer of the failure. The current mileage was 61,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.

My 2007 pontiac vibe is under recall notice gm# 10282.they have twice upon phone/email refused to have this checked.local dealer says vehicle has no recall on it yet i have checked this website and my 2007 vibe is under this notice.i also have a letter from gm 9-2010 stating my vehicle is under recall i have not received any followup from them in regards to this.the vehicle does run rough now and then in the cold.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. Whenever the vehicle was started it would make a clanging noise, as if it were shifting into gear. The vehicle would not actually shift, but the engine would stall. Sometime the vehicle would only accelerate to 15 mph or itwould not accelerate at all. The contact called the dealer and asked if there were any recalls or warranties but he did not receive a favorable answer. The dealer did not inform him of what the problem could be. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Accelerator pedal too sensitive, causes sudden starts, very jerky. The ac compressor was leaking. 10/03/07.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v387000 (engine and engine cooling). After having the vehicle repaired, the check engine light continued to illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was aware of the failure. No repairs were performed. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 200,000. Updated 9/27/11 the consumer experience harsh shifting within the transmission. Also, the tail lights and dash lights failed. Updated 10/07/11

2007 pontiac vibe (toyota engine).only 1 incident, had car approximately one year.pulling into parking spot with my daughter at apartment complex, car went into high speed mode, i really trumped the brakes and car stopped.i thought what the !@#$% was that.i had heard about mats becoming loose so i checked and i thought it could possibly be loose mat.bought new flat mats and put front car mats in rear of car.also, i believe when i have used cruise control, it seems sometimes that car jumps into going faster without hitting gas pedal or arm control.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. After repeated attempts, she was able to restart the vehicle with the service engine warning light illuminated.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the computer for the engine and the battery were replaced. Although there was a recall for the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v387000 (engine and engine cooling) the contact was informed by the manufacturer that her vin was not included in the recall. The failure did not recur. In addition, while the vehicle was being serviced for routine maintenance, the contact was informed by the mechanic that the protective shield for the fuel line had fractured from the vehicle.the vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired.this failure did not recur.the failure mileage was 43,762 and the current mileage was 61,629.

Miles.

Check engine light on, transmission fluid black, and hard shifting of the automatic transmission, diagnostic code p2716.

My 2007 pontiac vibe was acting like it wanted to stall. Also rough starts and no acceleration. I found out through the service light that it was a bad p.c.u. I replaced and now it is fine. Vibe just had 40,000 miles on it i had to pay for it myself. I searched on computer and a lot of people have similar problems. But theirs was covered under warranty. Thank you for looking into this and have a great day.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. While driving approximately 30 mph with the brake pedal engaged, the vehicle decelerated independently to 20 mph. The failure recurred numerous times intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

I drive a 2007 pontiac vibe.about two weeks ago the car "stalled" out on me at an intersection.the car was running perfectly fine up into in came to the red light.when the arrow turned green my car would not accelerate.it wouldn't even "rev".there was no check engine light on but since i could not get my car to move forward (it would work in reverse though the transmission sounded horrible), i had to be towed.once the tow truck dropped me off, somehow now the car worked!?!i drove it to a different repair shop (closer to my work).they changed/flushed the transmission fluid as a precaution.then several days later on 3/12 it happened again.after leaving my home, i had stopped at a stop sign before trying to turn onto a busy street.when i tried to pull out the car simply would not accelerate.instead i slowly rolled into the middle of oncoming traffic.my car would not respond and the dash lights were freaking out (ie flashing on and off).the emergency flasher lights wouldn't even work at first.after making it into the median, i was able to regain "control" and turn off my car.thankfully it restarted and worked right away.i drove it back to the repair shop (this time the check engine light was on).the error code was p0607 and failure of the pcm.they recommended i go to the dealer for repair since its under warranty for that.at the dealership no one would explain what happened but they did fix it for "free".i am very concerned about the safety and reliability of my car.i see online many others are having the same problems with other vibes and toyota models.i feel this is a serious safety issue that i hope you will address.

We've had our 2007 pontiac vibe for 6 months now.it has ~4200 miles on it.it is a family car and is driven by me and my wife (45 & 43).just this weekend i was driving from rochester ny to manassas va and experienced a problem exactly as described by the one described at:http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/pontiac/vibe+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++complaint number: 10231583 incident date: june 18, 2008 date added to file: june 19, 2008 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++the first "event", i was sitting at a stop light and gradually felt the brake pedal requiring more and more pressure to keep the pedal depressed and the car standing still (cars were in front of me).fortunately, i only had to endure about 10 seconds of applying significant pressure on the pedal before the light changed and cars began moving.the second incident, i was less fortunate.i was in a long line of cars that were stopped waiting to get by an accident scene.i was waiting approximately 20 minutes, car idling, when all of a sudden, with my normal brake pressure on the brake pedal, realized the car was moving forward.i depressed the brake with my right foot as hard as a could, and this was not enough. I pressed on the brake pedal with both feet then realized i would soon hit the car in front of me and jammed the automatic transmission into neutral---the transmission thudded but i avoided an accident, though probably damaged my transmission some.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the rear drivers side seat belt fractured. The contact also stated the front passenger side seat belt detached from the base of the floor. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic and the vehicle was repaired. The repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 180,000. The vin was not available.

It has just came to my attention that the rear seatbelts are positioned too high and too far forward to protect children sitting in a backless booster and for smaller adults. The seatbelts would not provide adequate safety in a crash because they do not even lay against these persons' bodies. They are around their ears instead of the shoulder.

Collision with another vehicle where the front of my vehicle struck the side of the second vehicle.my air bag did not deploy and my shoulder belt did not lock in place during the crash.

When driving my 2007 pontiac vibe it makes a loud noise in the front end and it is continuous while you are driving.it sounds like something just roaring going down the road.i have had my rotors changed, brakes changed, brake calipers changed, wheel bearings changed, and new brake lines installed, and my axles and suspension checked out and the noise still want go away.has anyone else had this problem.because i feel as if it is a hazard about to happen.has anyone else had the same problem.

I've had too numerous to mention. But because i would like to sell i don't want to give out too much info here. There are so many times my steering has locked up. If not for the grace of god.... My brakes well, they just have a mind of their own. It doesn't happen often that they go out but i can think of 2 specific incidents if another car was coming through the intersection i would have been history.one thing that i've had it in the shop for many times is that lamp light onmy dashboard. I take it in. They fix it. Im not out of the parking lot and its on again. My car is a 2007, garage kept, leather seats, sun roof, sirius fm, and just turned 40k. Its my baby. I hate to part with it but its a death trap.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe. While depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, it would suddenly accelerate. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

When approaching a pedestrian crosswalk in a busy downtown area,at approx. 20mph, applied brakes when pedestrian was in crosswalk.(law requires me to stop, when someone is in the crosswalk).the engine seemed to race when i suddenly brake, car barely slowed and i could not stop immediately, and had to continue through crosswalk.thankfully pedestrian was unhurt, only angry.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac vibe.while driving 70 mph at night, in dry weather conditions, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle spun around.he lost control of the vehicle and crashed.while accelerating from a stop, the tires and wheels spun around dramatically. He notified the manufacturer, but they did not provide any assistance.the dealer information was unknown.the current mileage was 26,000 and failure mileage was 20,000.

The accelerator pedal causing jerking.unsure what cause.engine light came on and now the car is jerking forward.

My wife was the driver. She had stopped to back up and swing into her normal parking spot. She had been parking in this spot for almost 5 years. The car suddenly accelerated from the stop and though she applied the brakes and parking brake, the car accelerated 40' through our bushes and knocked down the neighbors chain link fence before stopping. It stopped moving because the fwd wheels were off the ground as the knocked over bushes raised the car body up. I was taking a shower and heard the engine rev uncontrollably and gravel spraying everywhere. It was loud. We are afraid to drive the car and cannot in good conscience trade it in or sell it. No one was hurt this time, but if it does it again someone or more could be seriously injured or killed.she did not step on the gas. She was stopped in drive and about to put it into reverse when it just took off like it was possessed. Maui police report #15-049974. 12/4/2015 officer j.

Several times in the last year we have sudden acceleration while traveling at low speeds.it lasts a few seconds and ends by itself.we are have been lucky to avoid an accident since there was no traffic nearby at each time.it happens at random with no known trigger and happens so rarely that the dealer can not repeat the problem.it is not a floor map issue!

I have a 2007 pontiac vibe and have numerous incidents of sudden acceleration from 2007 through the present. While the brake is fully depressed, the car surges forward.this has happened on average about every 1,000 miles.luckily i have never hit anyone or anything.i have learned to keep my distance whenever possible.i have had it to the dealership numerous times and because they are unable to duplicate the problem (i can't duplicate it either), they will not fix it.the car completely died in august 2009 and the power train was replaced.this seemed to have stopped the problem for about five months and i had the problem again in february 2010.this car is toyota built and i have been all the way up the chain in gm with no resolution.i have even contacted toyota and they would not help either.

Near collision with other vehicle due to windshield distortion of thevehicle.windshield distortion caused stationary objects to appear to move during low-speed maneuvermy eyes became accustomed to this effect and caused me not notice a vehicle that was actually moving into the intended path of my vehicle.caught it just in time to prevent collision.pontiac will do nothing to remedy the defect.
