I took my car to mike morgan buick gmc of shreveport louisiana for the recall repair of the front passenger airbag inflator module. Five days later my airbag warning light comes on. I take my car back to mike morgan buick gmc. They inform me the warning light stems from the steering wheel airbag and they only "repaired" or "tampered" with the passenger side air bag. I will have to pay $922 to have it repaired. I don't know if them tampering with my airbags caused the light to come on or not. However, i do know i had no warning lights illuminated in my dashboard until mike morgan buick gmc of shreveport louisiana tampered with my car. They told me the airbag light being on means my driver side airbag is disabled.

I received a letter from from gm (gm recall number 14491a) in regards to the front passenger airbag....i called gm and was told that the part to repair the airbag problem would not be available until maybe the 2nd half of 2016 and not to use the front passenger seat...is this for real?in other words i have a car that i now cannot use for at least a year.i spoke with a john who said to contact a gm dealer to have the front passenger airbag disconnected....the gm dealer refuses to do it...its hard to believe that they expect people to wait for more than a year to get a recall repaired and not to use the front passenger seat for that length of time....

Received recall #14491 in july 2015. Manufacturer still has no parts. In the meantime the letter says not to let anyone ride in the front passenger seat. Since there is no time limit for this to be repaired, it seems a violation of my usage of the vehicle to not have full use until they decide to fix it. I am complaining that not having a time limit in which to repair defects is restricting my usage of my property.

There has been a known airbag recall on my 2005 since 08/29/19.ten months is far too long for this to go unaddressed by gm when it affects a major airbag on a vehicle impacting the safety of passengers.i have gone most of a year without being able to have passengers in the front seat of my car because of this recall.this is the second time the front passenger airbag has been recalled on my car the last recall was in 2016 and i had the airbag replaced then.gm needs to step up and work to get the necessary replacement parts available or they need to play a part in helping their customers purchase new cars that are safe at a discounted price to make up for nearly a year of not being able to safely carry a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle. Stopped at red light with a dodge ram 1500 in front of me.i was rear ended by a car (toyota rav 4) going approximately 35 mph.i did turn my steering wheel to try and get into the turn lane to avoid the collision but did not have enough time.the car rear ended me and then my car was pushed into the truck in front of me.my car sustained damage to both the front and back.my head hit the side window jam (between the windshield and door) and then my nose and mouth hit my steering wheel.i was wearing my seat belt but still my face was injured and my left leg hit the steering column.i do remember feeling a point during the collision that i flew in the air - having the feeling that i was flying.my seat belt caught and i was pushed back into the seat.my seat was not too close to the steering wheel while i was driving.my airbag did not deploy at all even though i was rear ended and then pushed into the car in front of me.i sustained a broken nose which is broke on both sides from hitting the steering wheel i believe.i also ended up splitting my eye in two places when i hit the border between the windshield and door.i also ended up hitting my leg on the steering column with major bruising.the impact with the steering also caused my teeth to go through my top lip and broke numerous teeth.i feel like i would not have sustained such serious injuries if my airbag had deployed.

I had a recall on the passenger side airbag of my car a few years ago. I had it replaced with the same, but newer part. I then received another notification and called in to get it fixed, but no parts were available. I received two or three more notices and called for the fix, but the part was still not available. Today, about a year or so later, i received another notice, made another call, and they were finally able to order a replacement part. However, they still don't know how long it will take to come in.

This is in reference to a recall dated dec 12,2018the manufacturer has failed to remedy this recall in a timely manner and since i cannot drive with a passenger in the front seat until it is remedied i am reporting this to nhtsa as recommended on the nhtsa website.manufacturer recall numbern161644424nhtsa recall number18v883recall status: recall incomplete, remedy not yet available --- i have checked with gm customer service and there is still no fix for this problem - the nhtsa website states that until it is fixed no passenger should sit in the front passenger seat.i called customer service and requested that at least they install a newer airbag which would be safer than the older potentially degraded airbag.they do not choose to do that and still there is no fix for this passenger side airbag.i am trying to get the recall repair fixed but not having any success with local or national gm repair shop or customer service at the national level.they do not have any information on when or if a repair solution would be available.since the manufacturer has failed to remedy this recall in a timely manner and since i cannot drive with a passenger in the front seat until it is remedied i am reporting this to nhtsa as recommended on the nhtsa website.

My girl's vehicle stopped on it's own several times with no warning, but later would restart.the engine just kept stopping she would say in various turns, but with jiggling the key it would start back up.the last time while turning left at a light the vehicle died in the middle of the turn again.this time, the vehicle just made it coasting thru the intersection.i noticed the key chain was overloaded with mace, mini baseball tigers bat, 15 keys, pictures etc.we took it to a mechanic and was informed the engine must be locked and we need to scrap the car because they could not get it to fire up.i believe it was the ignition switch that sometimes made contact.i just got a 4th notice that the 4th set of airbags are defective.the car is crushed now, but it seems pretty logical the ignition switch was faulty.i bought her a new car because it kept dying in turns.i did not put two and two together until after the publicity.the scope of this recall needs to be expanded to the 2005 pontiac vibe.we were lucky that no one was coming from the other direction thru those intersections.the vin is [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I received gm recall notice 14491 in july 2015 stating" the passenger airbag may have an unsafe propellant which could cause the inflator to rupture with metal fragments potentially causing a passenger serious injury or death.until the repair is performed, the front passenger seat should not be occupied.parts to repair your vehicle are not currently available."the dealer had no additional information.contacting the gm recall line, my case number 71-1508506555 was assigned to a senior advisor named rueben (866-790-5600 x 58210-88)rueben gave me no additional information and did not call me back as promised.8-28 i called the dealer and they have 15 inflators in stock.i made an appointment to have the recall performed.however, at the dealership, my vin brought up the disposition order: "incomplete.remedy not yet availablefront passenger air bag inflator"the service writer and service manager can do nothing and suggested i call gm again.call to gm recall line speaking with annette.she had no additional information and did not know when the recall would be resolved.she called a district manager named pat--only information she would provide--to ask fro more details"pat" did not answer the phone and all she would do is ask rueben to follow up.we have delayed a trip because we need to use the car with both front and back seats occupied. We need to crack through this impervious barrier gm has constructed to find out 1:why the 2005 vibe inflators the dealership has in stock cannot be used 2;and when the parts will be availablegm will provide no information.please help cut through this bureaucratic barrier gm is hiding behind.
On the first recall for airbag i took my car to the dealership for the airbag replace and now the airbag and engine light is on all at all the time.why?
I was driving on the expressway at approximately 65 mph when my airbag deployed for no apparent reason. I did not hit anything. Nothing hit me. I was able to pull the car over and no one was hurt other than the impact to my chest and hands.

I am complaining about the fact ahtt this is my only car and in july 2015 i got a letter telling me the airbag is defective and to not allow anyone to ride int he passenger seat.i have waited for 5 months to hear more about when i can get the safety hazard taken care of.when i called gm they said they have no informaiton on when they will have the parts.they don't know and can't tell me when they will know when they will have the parts.when i looked on line it says the reparis will begin in 2017 and end in 2019.that is unacceptable. I drive this car every day.my family is in this car daily.it is my only car.in thsi day and ageand with a problem that is as easy to fix as this - we know what the problem is -- how is it that the solution will not be implemented in all affected vehicles for up to 6 years????!!!i expect a response to this complaint. It is totally unacceptable that my family and i are at risk every day and have been for over a year with no end in site and no one able to provide a date for when this will be rectified.
Takata recalli have a 2005 pontiac vibe that was part of two takata recalls.after the gm dealership worked on it and replaced the driver airbag on the vehicle, the red airbag light on the tachometer started glowing and has glowed since.i took it in for the 2nd recall recently and has the passenger airbag replaced.the dealership gave me a code of b1811 which means the airbag will not go off in case of an accident..gm and the dealership refused to fix the issue. This light was triggered after the recall was performed at the dealership.why wouldn't this be covered and fixed ifduring the recall?instead gm and their dealership say that it isn't under warranty and their would be a diagnostic charge of $99 plus a cost to fix the issue.seems like a safety issue and it was caused by the recall work.

I am filing a complaint about the front passenger airbag inflator recall (nhtsa recall # 15v285; gm recall # n140491), for which i received a letter yesterday.i am very disturbed to be told that, until the necessary replacement part is available, and with only the assurance that gm (and presumably toyota) is "working as quickly as possible to correct this condition," i should not operate the car with the front passenger seat occupied. I find it disturbing and odd that the proscription only applies to the front passenger seat, even though the warning includes the statement that malfunction of the front passenger airbag could result in "metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants [including, presumably, me] potentially resulting in serious injury or death,"i am also troubled that no advice or accommodation is made for those for whom not using the front passenger seat is not an option, nor is there provision by gm/toyota/takata to provide a replacement car until such time as the replacement part is available, or at least some sort of remuneration for what it will cost those affected to rent a car when they must use a front passenger seat. And there's the small matter that the metal fragments could strike more than just the front passenger. Therefore, i would like to know what nhtsa is doing to ensure that proper compensation is provided for this.

It has been almost an entire year and the recall status is "recall incomplete, remedy not yet available." frankly, this is unacceptable. I couldn't find the form for that, so i figured i'd submit it here. Thank you!manufacturer recall number: n192273760nhtsa recall number: 19v627

I recently took my vibe in for an air bag recall. They replaced the passager side air bag module but did nothing with the drivers side. I've had an airbag warning light on for several months and i thought this would also be fixed. They informed me it wasn't part of the recall. What i don't understand if the passager side air bags are faulty can can cause bodily harm or even death why would the driverside air bag be any different. I feel it should have also been replaced. Please let me know why it wasn't or at least the warning light fixed.

I bought this car august 2005 and it always had a start issue. It just wont turn over, but this problem can go for a couple of days before starting again. It will start fine some days and others it won't.also was in a car accident rear ended a van and smashed up the car but the air bags didn't deploy at all. My insurance company stopped counting the damage after it hit $10,000. It was at an angle versus just straight on. Car has less than 20,000 miles on it. Main concern was the air bag didn't go off when the collision happened. Luckily everyone was fine. But what is being done about this two problems?

I received a notice about the airbag recall in july, and the recommendation is "the front passenger seat should not be occupied".i've called everyone, gm, the local dealer, the vehicle safety hotline, etc.and the answer is that the part is unavailable and it will take 1-3 years to get it.this is unacceptable, my car is unsafe and i have no alternative.i called a shop to see if they could disable the airbag for me and they told me that was illegal. What am i supposed to do?i have a family of 4 and pets and we cannot all fit into the car unless we use the front passenger seat.the solution to not use the passenger seat is completely unacceptable.
As part of nhtsa recall #15v285, issued jul 24, 2014, gm recalled my pontiac vibe, informing me " these vehicles are equipped with a front passenger airbag inflator which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant.... Improperly manufactured propellant could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant." at the time, the recall status was " incomplete. Remedy not yet available". It has been months since the recall was issued, with no change in status or additional information being provided as to when our cars will be fixed. Is this actually a recall? are these vehicles ever going to be repaired? i appreciate nhtsa's desire to warn drivers. However, this 'recall' increasingly feels like a car manufacturer freeing themselves of legal liability and passing the inconvenience of their mistake onto drivers, with no intention of actually resolving the problem. Is there anything i can do to get my passenger seat available for safe use again?thank you!

Received a letter via fedex from gm regarding air bag recall 14735, advises no one should occupy the front seat and have this repair done immediately.letter also states i can call my local dealership immediately for service, which i did.local dealership here in hawaii advises they know nothing about this recall #14735, do not have the parts, do not know when they will have the parts and put me on an indefinite wait list.basically the letter from gm appears to cover them from liability but it reality no one is servicing my car!

Takata recall gm says they are unable to supply parts for the recall that i received last july. This vehicle is the only vehicle that we own that my handicapped mother-in law is able to get in and out of...and due to hip and knee replacement is unable to get into the rear seat. She lives with us and needs to go to doctors several times a month. She therefore must ride in the front passenger seat which "until the repair is performed, the front passenger seat should not be occupied" per your letter and personnel at gm and the nhtsa hotline. Dt: the consumer states that the 2005 pontiac vibe has been in the shop 4 times for an indicator light that indicates that the air bag is inoperative. The owner'smanual states that if this light is on the air bag could deploy at anytime. The dealership is aware of the problem. The manufacturer has been contacted, and advised the consumerto bring the carto dealer again sincethe light is still not working properly. Now the indicator light onthe passenger's side air bag is not showing if the air bag is on or off.when there is a passenger in the sea the light is showing off for the air bag when the light should say on. When the consumer took the car out for a drive the light did not come on at all.
I was involved in a serious front end collision at approximately 40 mph on the freeway.my air bag did not deploy.when i called the dealership to inquire about why this happened and i was told that "air bags only deploy at certain angles."well, if it was a direct front end collision that caused $8,600 worth of damage, don't you think the air bag should have gone off?i had to replace everything between the engine and the bumper, this is ridiculous that i got the run -around about the air bag.i am very concerned that air bags in many vibes are faulty and that pontiac isn't doing anything about it.
I bought a new 2005 vibe in september 2004.on several occasions, i will go to start the car and it will not start, just turns over.
The check engine light came on. I was making a left turn at a traffic light and the car stalled in the middle of the intersection.i put the car in park and restarted it.shortly thereafter the car stalled again while i was driving but i was able to make a turn into a parking lot.also, the transmission will slip out of gear while driving the failure occurs randomly while driving.was diagnosed as computer performance problem with po607 engine code.
Since purchasing in 09/2013 driver's side front window has been grinding when lowering with power window switch. Did not seem to be hung right inside the door but always completed seal when closing. Sounded like a piece of plastic was caught between the glass and door. Took apart, did not see any thing. 01/2015, window would not roll down the final 2 inches.figured it was due to cold weather. 02/2015 after parking in driveway with window down, went to open driver's side door to get out of car. Door was stuck. Shut door, applied normal (minimal) force to the door in the area of the door handle (was not pressing on glass) and driver's side window shattered, leaving glass inside the door and inside the vehicle.

Car was parked all day.when i returned to the car i started it, rolled down the front (power) windows, left it in park to retrieve something outside the car for 5 minutes.returned and the inside driver door was in flames.

Car idled low and hard since i purchased it and dealerships kept saying there was nothing they could do because it was so random, they could never get it to act that way for them. I went on vacation recently, came home and went to turn on car, it started, i started to drive and it stalled. Lights stayed on, but could not restart engine. Towed it to a shop and they said that it is the computer control something or other and that one of the signals to an injector is not making it. They said all the hard idling i experienced was a sign that there was something electrically wrong and the dealerships were telling me it wasn't a big deal! they are replacing a wire for an injector and the computer control module? right now. I am not sure of the correct name for the computer brain thingy.
2005 pontiac vibe with 133000mi had the pcm replaced under recall #10282 in october 2013. In june 2014, at 140000mi, the car started exhibiting the same symptoms as before the recall: hard upshifts and stalling while shifting from reverse to drive. The engine began cutting out for <1sec during steady-state driving at highway speeds, eventually stalling completely from 60mph in traffic.the hard shifting and stalling is intermittent, though most common after driving 10min or more. While driving at constant throttle, the tachometer dives from 3k rpm to under 1k before the engine restarts. This can be felt as a harsh jolt within the car, and will kill the cruise control and radio if either of those are in use.
2005 pontiac vibe's check engine light came on, the car started running rough, and then the car died. The car would not start and a wrecker had to be called. The mechanic was able to start the car some of the time but it would start running rough and would die while the car was being driven. I had read a newspaper article about a recall to start mid september on 2005-2008 vibes due to a defective engine control module. My car seemed to be experiencing the same problems. Our mechanic agreed this seemed to be the problem. Our mechanic could not resolve the problem but found recall info online and referred us to gm. Gm said there was no recall info. On the computer and could not do anything just yet. We took the car to a gm dealership. It stalled twice getting there with our mechanic driving since he had become accustomed to driving it to diagnose the problem.the dealership could not get the car to repeat the problem the next day. The car is currently at the dealership and they will try to start the car tomorrow (9/23/10).
My odometer has been stuck at 299,999 for the last three weeks and i have put over 600 miles on my car in the last three weeks.
After warm up and driving on highway or in town, vehicle is shut off to gas up or enter a store for a few minutes and having trouble starting again.the vehicle will crank over and over sometimes about 30 seconds or longer before it will finally start.not sure if it is vapor lock or something to do with the fuel pump?i have taken it in to the dealer a couple of times and of course it does not act up for them.i does happen quite frequently.i have also read online about this same problem happening to other vibe owners from 2003-05.i am requesting that someone look into this problem.
The car has trouble starting, often taking two or three tries before starting. Will turn over for up to 30 seconds and then eventually start. Brought the car to the dealer and they found nothing wrong. The very next day the problem acted up again. Happens at least a dozen times per week upon trying to start the car. Thought maybe the cold weather had something to do with it, waited until the end of winter to have it checked out...still the same problem. Wanted the car to be serviced and fixed before the warranty runs out.

The torque converter clutch switch is stuck off. Car is losing power not shifting up or down as it should. Oxygen sensor bank 1 says lean. Its as if its not pulling in enough air. To push power. Idles rough. Electrical issue or computer issue. Not sureas if im at stop light it shakes badly while slowing down leting off the gas. Or braking.

I have a 2005 pontiac vibe and since 2009 my car has been losing cooling and has a burning smell. Over the past 6 years i've taken the vehicle to numerous repair shops to resolve the issue with no results. In 2010 i there was a engine recall on this vehicle and i don't believe my car was properly serviced. Today i still have the burning smell, since the recall repair i've taken it to repair shops without results and have to refill my cooling 3 - 4 times a month. The service centers have said theirs no leak but there could be a temperature issue that burns the cooling but no one in the past 6 years has been able to fix it and the smell is getting worst.
On the first recall for airbag i took my car to the dealership for the airbag replace and now the airbag and engine light is on all at all the time.why?

While driving on the freeway during moderate traffic my 2005 pontiac vibe completely stalled and would not restart.after barely making it to the side of the road i called a tow truck to tow me to the dealership.i had went online while waiting for the tow and found that there was a recall for the engine control module that caused the same symptoms as i had.the dealership confirmed the vin and ordered the recall item.the next day they called me and informed me that they had installed the new control module and the car would still not start and they would need to dig further to find the cause.after digging more into it they called the next day (day 3) and told me that the exhaust camshaft was broken and recommended a new engine due to the amount of sludge and unknown factors with the current engine. The estimate of repair was $6100.i called my mechanic and he said that he could look and see if the camshaft could be replaced or if the engine did indeed need replaced.i had it towed to my mechanic (day 4)when i picked up the car at the dealership i was given a broken bolt that the mechanic said had been the problem.he said it had gotten lodged in a way that caused the camshaft to break., something he had never seen before.when i got it to my mechanic he said the same thing, "that bolt should never have broken and caused the camshaft to jam. I've never seen anything like this."when i ask what could have caused the bolt to break he said "manufacturer's defect. That's it, nothing else would cause a bolt in that position to ever break".he acquired a refurbished engine with about 30k miles on it and replace the entire engine (the cam/bolt had damaged the valves) for about $2600 and it runs fantastic.i was very lucky that when the engine stalled i could get through traffic and make it to the side without getting hit or causing more of a traffic jam.

2005 pontiac vibe pcm failure.engine light came on, and the transmission began shifting very hard.engine code p2716.i have read numerous reports where people are told by dealerships to replace the transmission, and after doing so the symptoms still occur.after finally replacing the pcm, the issues were resolved.that means $4000 in wasted repairs.i have contacted gm with case 71-902887626.the car only shifts poorly when the engine light is on, so it seems logical that the issue is electrically related. (pcm)so far gm has denied that the pcm in this car is affected by the "current" recall.a monkey can put two and two together in this situation.i writing this for other vibe owners who get the run around with gm and their dealership.

I pulled over safely and waited for tow service because the car would not start. Over the next few days i repeatedly tried to start the car and it would not start.the consumer stated the recall that was performed on the vehicle failed, as the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle started to idle harshly. When the consumer called the dealer, about the vehicle being repaired, she was informed any additional repairs would not be covered under the recall, even though she was experiencing problems directly related to the recall. The consumer took the vehicle to a local mechanic, where she was informed a code of p0440 and p0441, were related to the pcm, which he believed was the fuel pump causing the readings. Shortly thereafter, the light illuminated again, and the consumer was advised it was the same codes. Over the past two years, the pcm was reprogrammed, when it should have been replaced.updated 01/13/14

Car began rough shifting and check engine light came on.taken to a gm dealer for repair.symptoms appear to be related to nhtsa campaign 10v-387 (gm ref number 10282).initially, dealer denied that there was a recall related to the problems displayed by the car.after sending the dealer the recall information and the initial letter sent to me by gm, dealer admits that there is a recall, but no parts available to fix.the only solution offered was to continue to drive the car with the problem.dealer will not escalate the issue through gm.

Every so often, i will go to start my car and it will not turn over unless i gun the gas! took it to a dealership and they said they replaced come sort of chip and said there was a recall. It happened again this year so i took it to another dealership. They said the first dealership lied to me. There were no recalls and the part they replaced was not what would cause my problem. Car just doesn't want to start sometimes! well maintained. At 86,000 miles. I also have problems with the car idling very hard! shakes the windows so they rattle when i stop throughout any given trip. Dealership also told me this was normal as well.....i don't think so!!!!

On 10/16/2008 i was driving my 2005 vibe. I pulled out from a side street and accelerated, less than 2 blocks later i heard a loud pop/bang sound and pulled over because i also felt the car loose speed. I turned car off and popped hood, then saw oil all over the engine and all along the street behind me. Had car towed to my mechanic and was informed that my crank broke and blew a hole in the side of my engine block the size of a dinner plate. I have 60,000 miles on my car and have maintained it properly. My mechanic informed me that there is nothing i did or failed to do that caused this. I feel strongly that this was a factory defect and want to know how to get it repaid without shelling out 3,00.00 for a new engine.

Ever since i bought my 2005 pontiac vibe, whenever i take any turn to the left of less than 90-degrees, the turn signal will not cancel.i believe this is a design flaw in the calibration of the signal canceling. My vibe was one of the very first produced and arrived at my dealer in july of 2004.i have checked with both pontiac and toyota about any service bulletins covering this situation, and the pontiac service manager test-rode with me to observe this, but is unaware of any fix?
I purchased a new 2005 pontiac vibe 1.8 l, automatic transmission, on 8/02/05. It has consistently had episodes of serious hesitation and stalling while driving. This is a serious safety concern for me. I had it into the dealer but i got the "could not reproduce failure" response. It seems that if there is no failure code that the car dealers assume there is no problem.

Front passenger's side power window has made a popping noise when rolled down more than half way since it was purchased new in 2005. It rolled up and down fine so i didn't think much about it.two weeks ago i tried to get out of that door. The door wouldn't open more than a few inches. I had to climb over to the driver's side door to get out.i had to roll up the passenger side window and spray the door check link with a lot of wd40 to get it open. The door seemed to open and close ok after that, but the popping noise continued. I took it to the dealer. Dealer said the window glass (when rolled down) was touching the door check link, causing the issues. They had to reposition the link and clearance bracket to fix window.
Brought my 2005 vibe into a gm dealership due to paint bubbles on the hood.learned it was from my hood rusting from the inside out.the metal latch on the inside of the hood is rusting out and gm refuses to replace it.this is a safety issue that has been seen on other gm models and gm is not willing to pay for the fix.they are requiring their consumers pay hundreds of dollars to fix a potentially large safety issue.the rust can give way at any time and cause the hood to release while the car is driving down the road.
The door check link on my 2005 pontiac vibe is bent with a crack in it. It puts pressure against the passenger side window and may cause it to shatter. This is a part that should never fail and apparently this design is very poor.

No warning lights - no problems with car - middle of intersection - very loud noise and car froze.towed to dealer - quoted $4800.00 to replace transmission.no other alternative available according to dealer.called gm who agreed transmission should not fail with a well maintained - low mileage vibe but since there is no recall there is nothing they can do other than "support the dealer's decisions."i expected this car to last for several more years.the trade in price is not much more than this repair price.driver was on their way to the highway and if this would have happened a few miles beyond where it did there could have been fatal consequences.with the current ignition recall issue that gm handled so poorly i am concerned that there could be an issue here that they just don't want to look at.

The 5-speed manual transmission failed at approximately 103000 miles.likely cause was failure of an output shaft bearing.symptoms of failure began at approximately 90000 miles, which included a vibration in the shifter handle and slight buzzing noise.the noise progressively got louder and more frequent until i had it replaced at 103000 miles.had i not noticed thecause of the noise, the bearing may have failed while driving, which may have caused the transmission to lock up.

2005 pontiac vibe- pcm unit goes bad, leading to auto transmission error code p2716, first replaced battery then alternator with delco/gmc part now electrical system errors and trans problems due to faulty pcm - solenoid d failure.
While driving at any speed a cycling vibration can be felt in the steering wheel.it feels like somethi;ng is momentarily binding and slowing the car minutely, as if a shaft were too tight or out of round. Seems to be coming from the transmission or drive shafts. 2005 pontiac vibe automatic transmission 4-cyl 1.8l at 33k miles, had intermittent check engine light + tough shifting for 1 week, took to 2 repair shops and told it needs a new transmission + torque cylinder. Specifically, the code was "pressure control solenoid" and the transmission fluid was black. Car has been well-cared for, mostly city driving, no mountains or cold winters (but located in houston with heat + humidity). There should be no reason for a car this new with this low mileage to have a serious transmission defect. Engine + transmission are toyota made in the us. Internet searches reveal this may be a known defect of the toyota matrix and pontiac vibe, yet no recalls or service calls have been issued by gm.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac vibe. The contact was driving on the interstate and the vehicle started making a grinding noise. The contact tried to drive onto the emergency lane but the vehicle stopped moving. A passerby pushed the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a gm dealer who inspected the vehicle and stated that the transmission could not be repaired. The dealer did not inspect the transmission; the diagnosis came from how the transmission sounded. The manufacturer stated that the transmission was not under warranty and that transmission for that vehicle was no longer being made. The contact was able to find a used transmission to replace the failed one. The failure mileage was 123,000 and the current mileage was 130,000.
In november 2008 my pontiac vibe (automatic transmission) started to shift harshly (literally slamming into gear), the check engine light came on and my mechanic pulled the code p2716 indicating a solenoid/transmission problem.the car was off warranty, but before i had any work done i called both the local pontiac dealer and gm (11/4/2008-documented). Each said the same thing. There was no known problem and no recall. So i took the car to a transmission specialist and paid over $3200 for a new transmission. The car still shifted harshly and the transmission specialist did some research and found a toyota tech bulletin from 2006 that described the exact problem in the toyota matrix (sister car to the vibe-nummi plant). I asked pontiac about this and they still denied that there was a problem. This was also the time of the economic collapse and gm looked like it would go extinct. Now, in sept. 2010, i get the recall notice admitting to the exact problem that toyota described in 2006. I was told to wait for the second letter before going to the dealer to check it out. The second letter came in feb 2011 advising me to go to the pontiac dealer to get the pcm checked. I did that but i already had the correct pcm from the initial failure in 2008. The failure of the now recalled pcm caused extremely harsh shifting which caused transmission damage (metal filings etc. In the transmission-documented) which led to a complete transmission repair job costing me $3275.45 as well as the replacement of the pcm. My transmission was ruined because of a known faulty part (pcm) that is just now under recall. The right thing for pontiac/gm to do is pay for my transmission repair caused by their faulty part.
Driving 2005 pontiac vibe and in afternoon of 2/14/2010 shifting became hard. Took to be diagnosed and code that came up is p2716; pressure control solenoid; electrical fault. Took to have diagnosed at several locations, and same code arises. Found out will have to replace computer on a 5 yr old vehicle. Was told by my mechanic that this was an issue that gmc tried to cover up, but knowing that my car has a toyota engine, he contacted toyota and found they had the same issue for their matrix & corolla for that same year. Toyota corrected the issue, yet gmc denied there was one present.(tsb tc014-06). At the time of the incident, i had roughly 101,800 miles on vehicle. Per pontiac--they are requesting me to pay to have another diagnostic test done at a gmc dealer to verify the codes are correct before they would "consider" offering, if anything, any type of resolution. I requested to have the part @ no cost and i would pay for the labor. They are refusing to acknowledge there is an issue that was not caused by me and unless i pay to have another diagnostic test done, they will not offer any re-imbursement or parts at no cost. I now am stuck with not being able to renew my plates b/c @ the emission station failed my vehicle. All because of the computer needing to be replaced. I do not want to pay for another diagnostic test when 4 separate mechanics have tested my vehicle--including a government run agency--and all came up with the same code and part that needs replacing. I requested to have the part specifically sent at no cost to me from pontiac and i would pay for the labor, but again, pontiac is refusing that option until i have it diagnosed at an actual gmc dealership, which is going to cost me another $75, on top of any repair/replacement costs. I also have no guarantee from pontiac that they will provide any re-imbursement/parts at little to no cost to me, so i feel that i am wasting more money for a faulty computer gmc refuses to acknowledge has a problem.

Three times in the past year, the car has accelerated when the brake pedal has been applied with the car rolling in idle, or near idle.the last time was this past week.in two instances, it is known to have happened in an urban setting on streets and parking lots within shopping centers.it was necessary to stomp on the brake pedal to stop the car despite an accelerated engine w/ automatic transmission.a review by my mechanic finds the acceleration to be electronically controlled.owners of both pontiac vibe and its sister, toyota matrix, have made safety complaints for the same problem with differing responses per manufacturer, model, and model year.i leave the date of the most recent incident below.

The door check link on my 2005 pontiac vibe is bent with a crack in it. It puts pressure against the passenger side window and may cause it to shatter. This is a part that should never fail and apparently this design is very poor.

I have owned my 2005 pontiac vibe (auto transmission)for 3+ years. During this time period, on 4 separate occasions, i have experienced a problem with the vehicle speed control similar to those of other consumers (see complaint # 10117784 for 2005 vibe & #10207504 for 2006 vibe). While applying the brakes and almost at a complete stop, the engine speed (rpm) of the vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly accelerated causing the car to lurch forward. This problem has occurred twice while i was stopping at a 4-way stop intersection and twice as i was entering my garage. Had i not shifted into park immediately during the garage incident that occurred yesterday, i believe i would have struck the back wall of the garage. If there had been cars proceeding through the intersection of the 4-way stop, i believe i would have had an accident. Initially, for the first 3 instances,i believed that since i wear a wide shoe that my foot may have pressed on both the brake and accelerator pedal at the same time.however, since the incident that occurred at the 4-way stop intersection about 7 months ago i have been extra cautious while braking, making sure my right foot only presses on the brake pedal while stopping.since i experienced the problem again yesterday and knowing that i only pressed on the brake pedal, i believe that there is some other problem going on here with the engine/engine throttle system. It will undoubtedly be a difficult problem to diagnose since it is intermittent in nature.however, i believe it is a potentially serious problem with serious consequences to consumers.i will be taking my vehicle to my gm dealer service department next week for a complete vehicle inspection, but my gut feeling is that this is a "hidden" design problem that might not easily be found.
I put my cruise control on and got my speed up to 71 mph, pressed set and the next thing i know the car was going over 75 mph. Another time i had to brake and then pressed resume. My car should have went back up to 71 mph; instead was over 75mph. When using my cruise control, i have experienced at least four episodes of my car accelerating higher than what i set the cruise at. In the summer of 2008 i was using my cruise control more often, traveling home from college 1-2 weekends/month.... During that time i recall 3 episodes. The others occurred before. To stop the acceleration of the car with cruise on i would brake, but that did not always work, so i would turn the cruise off and brake. Turning cruise off and braking seemed to slow car down.
Engine would not return to normal idle speed while driving. When placed in park or neutral, engine would idle at approximately 4000 rpm. Engine speed in gear was approximately 2000 rpm at a full stop. The accelerator appeared to function normally other than the high idle issue.the accelerator pedal was checked for obstructions, or any other issues that would hold it in a partially depressed position. None were found, and the pedal was unable to be raised more than it's resting position.the throttle body was inspected, and appeared to function normally. With the key in the "off" position, the throttle plate could be manipulated through it's entire range of motion by hand. A generic scan tool was attached with the key in the on position, engine not running. The vehicle showed no stored or pending codes. "absolute throttle position" read 20% without the accelerator depressed, and went up to 80% upon fully depressing the accelerator. A throttle learn was attempted. (with the key on/engine off, the accelerator was fully depressed for 5s, then the key turned off, then the accelerator released.) the throttle learn did not effect the behavior. The accelerator pedal position sensor was inspected for loose wiring; none was found. The throttle position sensor was lightly tapped approximately six times toward the centerline of the vehicle with a flashlight. Upon this action, "normal" throttle response returned. The suspect accelerator position sensor is still installed on the vehicle.
Driver's side front power window makes loud popping noise when operating similar to 08v162000 recall campaign for '03-'04 models.
Simply rolling the window up or down. I had the lf power window repaired 5 times while under warranty. Now the rf window has the same problem, the glass has come loose and cocks unevenly while rolling down.

Front power window regulator problem ; front driver-side window is loose within regulator ; taken to dealer in fall 2006 for repair within warranty period ; repair only temporarily corrected problem (for less than 2 months); situation has only gotten worse since; author of this complaint believes window likely could separate from regulator in short term leading to compromised occupant protection or in worst case sudden distraction which could cause driver to lose control of vehicle; complaint writer is aware there is a recall for model year 2003 and 2004 pontiac vibe vehicles for failure of window regulator retention fastener.

Drivers side window pops when raising the window to its fully closed position.it sounds like the glass is cracking or breaking.its not shattered, but i feel that it will one day. It does not happen every time the window is raised; usually happens approx. 50% of the time.the passenger side window exhibited the same symptoms.however it was shattered by a burglar and was replaced.since that time, no popping sound has been heard.i would replace the drivers window proactive, however the cost is greater than $250.00 usd.
My automatic driver's side window makes a popping noise every time it is lowered.it may not be aligned or installed properly and i am afraid it will shatter.
The drivers and passenger side power windows in my vehicle have been popping and catching in my car since i bought it.i took it to the dealer under warranty and they said it was normal.it has ruined my window tint on the drivers side and i as well as having the drivers side shatter on me one time.i am afraid this will happen again as it is still doing the same thing.updated 10/24/07
