I was informed by mail from gm about 6 months ago that the vehicle was subject to a recall for passenger air bag (gm safety recall 13112), and that i would be informed when parts were available. Upon following up today with gm to obtain an update (phone number 800 521 7300) i was informed that they have no information for a recall of the vehicle. Gm assigned case # 71-1412420838 to my call.at the nhtsa web site i have found the following information:recall subject: passenger side front air bag inflater may rupturereport receipt date: june 11, 2014 nhtsa campaign number: 14v312000all products associated with this recallvehicle make model year(s)pontiacvibe2003-2004i wish to know whether the vehicle is safe or unsafe; whether it is subject to recall or not.

Takata recall.multiple attempts to update info at gm 'update your info ' page on website fail, claiming pin and name entered properly 'does not exist'. Attempts to report are per the instructionson mailer from gm. I called gm, told me to go to website. Called dealer, told me to call gm. Endless dysfunctional loop.i sold the subject vehicle to woburn toyota in woburn, ma 3 years ago.obviously gm fails to update ownership searches, fails to operate reporting mechanisms properly (subject website and phone service).

Takata recalli have a 2004 pontiac vibe that was part of two takata recalls, one which was done before i purchased the car.recently after the gm dealership worked on it and replaced the passenger airbag on the vehicle, the red airbag light on the tachometer started glowing and has glowed since. I have another 2005 vibe that has a similar issue that i just reported.gm and the dealership refused to fix the issue. This light was triggered after the recall was performed at the dealership.why wouldn't this be covered and fixed ifduring the recall?instead gm and their dealership say that it isn't under warranty and their would be a diagnostic charge of $99 plus a cost to fix the issue.seems like a safety issue and it was caused by the recall work.

My supplemental restraint system (srs) electronic control module (ecm) light is on.i had it evaluated at my local dealership.they stated that there was a small wire that was most likely broken inside the system.after further online investigation i have found that this a problem on the 2003 -2004 toyota matrix also which is a sister vehicle to the pontiac vibe.i don't understand why a recall was made for the toyota and not the pontiac also.i was told by the dealership that because of this issue my air bag may or may deploy in an accident.if this is a defective system i think our vehicles should have been included also.i need to know why they were not.

Takata recallmy first call to pontiac1-800-762-2737was on july 14, 2016after i took my car to raceway chevrolet for the takata recall. When they finished, the air bag cover was up about 3 inches from the dash board, i got the clerk to come see. She said it should not be like that andgot the mechanic.he started pushing down on the air bag covertrying to make it go down, i toldhim thatpushing down on the airbag like that wasnot safe and it might explode out. It didn't go down,he pulled out the glove compartment and went in from the bottom and tried, it was still up. He said he had to take it back in the shop for about 15 minutes, after 30minutes i was givenmy keys, the airbag cover was still up a littlei started the car and the airbag light came on, i told clerk. They did nothing. This is a serious safety issue to mea pontiac representative called me on august 19, 2016 raceway chevrolet for a three way call with mr. Linden, raceway chevrolet manager, mr. Linden told the pontiac representative that he would give me a free 30 minute courtesycheck on monday august 22, 2016.on monday august 22, 2016, i took my car back to raceway chevrolet, in hartsville sc mr. Lindon came and asked for my keys and said that he was going to get the hand held car reader and it won't be long. He returned in 10 minutes and we went to his office and started telling me aboutused car that could have been in an accident and that could cause the airbag light to come after therecall part was replaced. He said that it would cost 15,000 to replace the airbag in my car and 199.00 to run a full check. I don't have that kind of money. He told me that if i had an accident that my airbags would not deploy.every time i get in my car and see the airbag light on, the airbag cover up and being told the airbags wont deploy is unsafe and unfair after a recall.

Took my car to kenny rossin north huntingdon, pennsylvania 5 years ago to have the recalls done they had to order the parts never called saying the parts where in called several times said they didn't have the part. Took the car back to kenny ross chevy dealership on tuesday4/30/2019 they said they would order the parts again. They called a few days later saying they couldn't fix the safety recall on my car cause of it being an older car. I believe this is wrong it is a safety recall that they refuse to fix cause it's older the car is still in good condition lower miles and they won't fix it i don't think i should have to ride all over the state to find a dealership to fix it they carry the gm name the are supposedly a certified service dealership but they will not fix a safety recall this has been going on for 5 years i think they need to be shut down and not carry the gm name totally ridiculous.

Nhtsa recall 14v655; gm recall 14735. In addition to media stories, i received notice from gm via fedex in mid-oct (10/23, i think). The purpose of notice was pure pr, to dupe consumers into thinking gm is on top of the recall. I called my local gm dealer (regal gmc, lakeland, fl) on 10/24. I was advised that gm hadn't even supplied the dealers with a gm recall number yet. The dealer promised to call me when they had more info. That never happened. So i called the dealer today (11/12/14) and was advised that parts are on order but the dealer (1) doesn't know when parts will be received and (2) cannot predict when my car will be repaired.meanwhile, i have a potentially lethal problem with my vehicle. It's obvious gm doesn't care much. Nhtsa must make gm more responsible for its screw-ups and fix recalls in a much more timely fashion. I'm really po'ed about this.

Takata recall. Gm has told me for the past 2 years, that the parts to do this recall are "not available." the last emails i have had with gm corporate, they told me "the parts and the repair have not been released yet." on a two year recall. Yet they do continue to send me cards in the mail telling me to take it to the dealer ship to be repaired. I think a two year time frame is more than enough time to have it repaired, specially when there are reported 8.8 million recalls already done.

Received another notice about defective airbag that nothing can be done about yet and it's been over a year since notice of the defect.no idea when repair will be available and during all the wait time, notice says front passenger seat should not be occupied.unacceptable a year later the issue remains with no repair available and unsure when it will be.as a family of 5, very inconvenienced not being able to use the front passenger seat.

Today i received a gm safety recall 14491 notice which stated "until the repair is performed, the front passenger seat should not be occupied".the notice states "parts to repair your vehicle are not currently available" and it does not give any indication as to when the parts will be available and the repair can be performed.my wife and i are in our 70s and we always travel together and not being able to occupy the front passenger seat until the repair is performed at some indeterminate time in the future is not an acceptable solution.

Takata airbag. I took my 2004 pontiac vibe to capitol chev in austin, tx to have the airbags replaced iac with the recall. When i got it back, the air bag warning light was flashing. I asked the service adjustor and he said it came in that way. Well, i contact gm customer service and explained to them that the car has very been in an accident or the airbags have experience any problems till now. I advised them i can prove it as the car was serviced a month prior by firestone. Well they said they will charge me $75.00 to do a check and i said no. Finally they decided to look at it again. Well, they could not find the problem. The service adjustor said the airbag and module is not connecting to the car computer to report it ready, armed, and on stand by. They found some corrosion on several plugs but that did not clear up the problem. Well now they want 750.00 to test the whole system to determine what is the problem. The problem did not start until i took it in for the airbag recall. I google gm recall and it appears they are only covering the airbags and modules, nothing after that if any problem arises from the incompability of new parts interfacing with old computers. So i picked up the car and parked it. So much for gm doing the right thing.

My daughter was driving to a dr. While driving my vehicle, the airbag warning light began flashing. When i checked my owner's manual, it said if the warning light continued to blink, dealer should be contacted. Ed morse customer service told me that there is a recall and parts are not available yet. I expressed concern since i had received a safety recall letter from pontiac in march 2015 but have not been contacted again.i mentioned that i was fearful, now that the warning light is constantly blinking and because of tragic news reports concerning recalls. The representative told me well, "news media exaggerates". Wow! i then followed instructions on recall letter to call 800 number for pontiac customer asistance, received an apology, andtold that "the status of the recall is incomplete"and "no time frame is given". (service request and conversation # 8-1579067613. This now brings me to filing this complaint.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with failing to receive needed recall repairs related to at least nhtsa #25v285 and #15v043. I have been receiving notices for over a year advising that repair parts are not available. I find it unacceptable to be left waiting this long while being told not to allow the passenger seat to be occupied. This is totally unrealistic and unfair. Why aren't the manufactures being held accountable for providing a timely repair? i understand the supplier is to blame and so should be working 24/7 to provide the remedy.isn't this a priority for human safety?thank you for your time and attention.

I am a 100% disable service-connected vietnam veteran with a ser-connected nervous condition, and gmc including the ceo has cause negligent infliction of emotional distressduring my demand for them to answer my questions!gmc has been, what i believe to be intentionally & criminally with-holding demanded informationthat i request by 10s + 10s emails requested for the safety of my family lives, to reply to the question does my car now have a driver or passenger side airbag that contain ammonium nitrate with or without a drying agent!in an email i received [email protected] general motors received the letter you sent our ceo dated february 1, 2019, as well as the emails you have sent this week.i am responding on her behalf. --it is my understanding that you claim to have sustained emotional distress presenting your vehicle for airbag-related service at two different dealerships.according to your letter, you had a negative experience at bones toyota, followed by a negative experience at white motors.based upon these negative experiences, you expressed concern for your safety and stated your intention to contact attorneys about representing you in a lawsuit, as well as the national highway traffic safety administration. I was told at white motors gmc and gmc that did not and would report my car to the nhtsa, for its faulty ignition switch where the ignition comes out while driving and ignition key does not unlock the door or hatch, creating a dangerous situation, such as in the faulty ignition switch issue in which gmc was sep 20, 2018 ... I received a recall notice about the airbag 6 months ago and have heard absolutely nothing since then.what is your agency doing to force gm to stop stalling on these needed safety repairs.does your agency even care?

The subject vehicle became subject to air bag recall (n140491)on 7/24/14.it then became subject to a second recall (n140877) on 2/11/15.it has been over one year since the first recall, which i find unacceptable.further, i will be replacing the subject vehicle and i will have a difficult time selling it with two open recalls.i have tried calling our local gm dealer (woodbridge, va) and while polite they have not been able to help me.so, i decided to call the gm help phone number on august 24, 2015 and asked if gm would be willing to buy back the subject vehicle because of the difficulty i will have to sell to a private party a vehicle with two outstanding safety recalls. So, far gm has not been very supportive of my request and i have not heard back from them.i am very frustrated by this foot-dragging by gm for our pontiac vibe.in talking to the local gm dealer, he said that they had corrected the same recall but on a different vehicle.this leads me to believe that gm may be dragging it heals on a make (pontiac) and model (vibe) that is no longerbeing made.if there is anything you can do to have gm correct this recall immediately or buy back my vehicle at a more than fair price (for their foot dragging), i would appreciate it.thank you for your time.

The airbag warning light on the dashboard just came on andcontinues to be on ever since.we are told by our mechanic that the front driver and front passenger airbags are now compromised and may not be deployed if in a crashbecause there is a short in the open circuit at the squid circuit.this was not due to any accident, collision, etc.; the light just came on.

Takata air bags recall - i have been mailed several letters over the past two years regarding the original recall on the air bags.each time i have received this letter, i have called the dealer where i purchased the vehicle for the gm recall 13030 recall.every time i have called i am told they do not have the recalled part to fix it and they don't know when they will get it.today i received another recall letter for gm recall 14877, which also mentioned the 13030 recall.again, i called my local dealer who told me the first recall part is not available and they don't know when it will be available but it is very dangerous and not to have anyone sit in the front passenger seat.now i read it is possible the driver's side airbag may have the same danger - i have waited to remedy this recall for two years!my dealer ordered the part for the 14677 recall.my question/complaint is:what happens to the airbag if they damage the already recalled airbag in the process of fixing this second recall.am i unsafe driving my car with this airbag recall possibly on the driver's side also?what is my recourse in driving what i now consider an unsafe vehicle?this is completely unacceptable.

My son was driving my car and there was a passenger in the front seat.they rear ended an suv while going about 30 mph.both front air bags deployed.both boys were wearing there seatbelts and no one was injured.but the impact of the passenger front air bag shattered the windshield.it did not go completely through but the from the center of impact outward the area covers the entire passenger side, and there was glass splinters are all over the passenger seat, the dash and the passenger door.the trooper at the scene said the car was undrivable with the windshield like that.the passenger did not have any impact with the airbag.looking from the outside of the car you can see exactly how the airbag deployed straight into the windshield.the body damage was to the front bumper, hood, front passenger side panel, but there was no impact to the windshield from the outside collision only the force of the airbag.

An '04 pontiac vibe well maintained stalled on the interstate losing complete power momentarily with the steering wheel locking, and after a few seconds (approximately 20-30 seconds) would start back on while car is still running. The problem was caused because of a fusible wire link shorted, melting the fuse block and damaging the battery which all had to be replaced.

If the air recirculation button is disabled and the power to the car is on, a clicking nose begins. The clicks occur more frequently than every second, continuously until the car is powered off. The clicking will continue regardless of whether or not the engine is running. The source of the clicking is the actuator that opens or closes the air recirculation vent behind the glove box.

I drove about 1 mile in city driving with the cruise control on.when i attempted to park (diagonal, front end approach) i was using the accelerator slightly.as i approached the front of the parking space, i moved my foot to the break.during this moment, the engine rpm increased and the car lunged forward.my foot was moving toward the break and upon breaking, the forward motion was stopped.the first time this happened was about the second week in jan. 2010.this repeated on march 7, 2010.i reported the first incident to gm (case # 71-799309984) and took it in to my local dealer.i just left a message after the second occurrence.i had a witness to the second occurrence.the engine does increase in rpm after removing my foot from the gas.this has occurred twice in a 9 week period.

On april 5, 2014,i rolled down my driver side power window as i was driving at 15 mph in a residential area.when i went to roll up the window i heard a grinding sound and the window slip and tilted to the right side. The unsecured power window remains opened. I fear the window will shatter again like it did in september 2007.i taped the window tothe driver side door frame for fear of it falling on me while driving.this is an urgent and serious matter that needs to be handled and repair immediately free of charge to the owner.there was a recall in 2008 regarding the replacements of window regulators bolts for 2004-2005 , pontiac vibes.there should be a second recall again on the power window regulators bolts.please, inform me asap where i may take my vehicle for repair.

Two issues that i have are, the air circulation vent makes a clicking.when i opened it up, i saw that it was because the vent would not close properly, i had to stick a pencil in it to make it stoip clicking, because i will not spend 100 dollars to have it replaced.also, we live in montana, and our new battery will not start under 20 degrees.we have extreem weather here, so it leaves us with only one car, and oftem we are not able to get to work on time.many other people in cold weather enviroments have complained about this.it seems to be something with the starter.this should be recalled, because it could leave us in very dangerous situations.cell service is not often available in this area, and it frightens me to think we could be stuck at some point.

Electrical system for console is failing.the illumination for the gear shift, temperature control, temperature setting, and fan speed have been faulty since day one.now they do not illuminate at all and overhead light must be turned on to see what gear the vehicle is in.

A recall was done on the door module controls but after the repair, the airbag warning light lit up. The headlights blow one at a time with in 2 months. The oem battery in my 2004 pontiac vibe is of insufficient capacity for winter startups.pontiac installed a 310 cca battery, which is having difficulty cranking the engine when attemtpting to start it at low temperatures (below 15 degrees f).i had difficulty starting my car at -5degrees f this week (it took 4 attempts;i had all accessories turned off, i.e. Radio, fan, lights.my car is less than 2 months old). There are multiple reports of such near failures of the 310 cca battery on the 2003/2004 pontiac vibe models, along with reports of complete battery failure in cold weather on www.genvibe.com.it is recommended to get a battery above 500 cca for cold climates for a 4 cylinder engine like the vibe's 1.8l.the underpowered battery installed by pontiac on my car could result in getting stranded in cold winter conditions and could pose a life threatening hazard.

The battery failed after only 13,000 miles on my pontiac 2004 vibe.the three year warranty ended two months before the failure of the battery.a mechanic told me that the battery had insufficient power (310 cca) for eventhe small 1.8 liter engine in the vibe.

On the morning of feb. 5, 2007,it took about 3 attempts to start the car. I attributed it to the cold weather since it was an extremely cold morning (30 f).i drove to work.when it was time to leave work the car would not start.after several attempts, i called aaa.a technician checked the battery and found it to be in perfect condition, which was expected since it was a new battery. The car could not be jumped.i had to wait for a flat bed truck to come pick me up. After researching the national highway traffic safety administration's website, ifound that gm had knowledge that there was a problem with the starter assembly relating to this vehicle back in january 2004. The noted statement was "hard to start, slow cranking condition in ambient temperature below 20 degrees"f. This is a defect that was never corrected and caused me to be stranded in an unsafe environment until 8:30 pm.the manufacturer's warranty has expired, but this electrical system defect existed since the car rolled off the assembly line.the functioning of the starter assembly seems to have been intermittent at best.total failure of this starter assembly occurred as a result of the defect not being corrected.i believe that the manufacturer, gm, should replace the starter assembly with a working model.

Dt: the contact stated the vehiclehad many different problems and safety defects. The first problem started just seven days after purchasing the vehicle. While pressing on the brakes they sounded like they were falling apart. The next problem concernedthe engine.at times there was noiseand the vehicle shook very badly. Also, the vehicle lurched forward without warning. The third problem involvedthe electrical system.when the vehicle was started the radio made a cracking sound, and the power door locks worked intermittently. The interior lights flashed/turned off and on. Due to the lack of illumination, andthe instrument cluster was very hard to see. When the power windows were rolled up onecan hear a buzzingsound .while parked in a parking lot thekeyless entry opened another vehicle that was 30 feet. Away. Also, the smells of raw gas fumes were coming frominside of the vehicle.the dealership inspected the vehicle, and found the firewall shield screws were loose. The manufacturer has been contacted, and was currently in arbitration.

Bought vehicle from dearer carfax clear. Driving 55 mph on road, car engine/transmission seized up and i lost control of vehicle. Tried to put in 1st gear (6 speed manual) clutch would not engage, vehicle died. Battery ok, fluids ok, no prior issues with vehicle, had towed to dealer. Told engine/transmission seized up. Transmission bearings defective, defective main shaft bearing, defective cluster shaft bearing. The vehicle made a grinding noise shortly before seizing up and stopping on the road at a high speed.

January 2005 we purchased a certified used 2004 pontiac vibe from wade raulerson gm pontiac.the warranty was extended to 39,000 miles.during the course of ownership a ticking noise was noticed and became progressivelyworse.the vehicle was brought in at approximately 40,000 miles when the service department informed us that an entirely new engine was needed and the cause of the damage was excessive wear and tear.during our ownership a 71 year old woman has driven this vehicle placing 6,000 miles on the vehicle in 18 months.it is obvious that the certification process was flawed and the dealership and the manufacturers sold us a defective product.gm and the dealership offered to replace the engine at a cost of $10,026 with a 50/50 split or a used engine for a cost to us of little under $5,000.the final written estimate provided to us was for $3800.00 plus to be charged to us.it is again obvious that a dealership which certifies an engine that so miserably fails is not qualified to be licensed and a manufacturer who puts a product out such as this is negligent.children were driven regularly in this hunk of junk and it is by grace that nothing happened.any assistance you can provide whether mediation of the problem or sanction of the dealership/manufacturer would be appreciated.

I had to have a new waterpump, thermostat, outlet seal installed as i could not get any heat. It was as if i went faster i would get a little heat. When took tos&k they told me i needed a new waterpump, etc. They were not going to pay for it. I could not understand this as i went online and researched this and saw many others had the same problem with the 2004 vibes. Something about when checking anti freeze and the over flow it was to be burped. This happened at the dealer did a complete check up for winter. I tried to explain to them that they caused this because they checked my antifreeze without burning it after they checked it.i then took it elsewhere to have it repaired as i could not afford the $500.00. I am retired and a senior citizen. The place i took it too was wonderful and agreed that they did not service it like it should have been. What is anything can be done about this? everytime i take something to s&k something else goes wrong. I took it in for the first recall on the airbags and now my lights on the radio, etc. Are faded. What they did i do not know. What should i do to have this properly taken care of. I love my vibe and today have only 42,000 miles on it and it is still like new. Just that the problems with the heat and lights make me sick. I need my heat as i have a lung condition and have to stay warm.

Check engine light has come on twice in first 3000 miles.dealers unable to fix problem; computer code indicates something in the evap canister area.all dealer's do is reset the light.

A drone noise was heard when the accelerator was pressed, especially during damp or cold weather, fall and winter.i have been told that it was a ?characteristic of the pontiac even though this characteristic was not present when i test drove the car in the summer, and it was not told to me when i bought the vehicle.gmc confirmed my own belief that it was a design flaw in the muffler assembly.

The recall is on the bolts of the window and so as i was trying to get the window to close it just shattered...there are 2 other recallson it ....they had the car for 2 days and they haven't done nothing to it yet...and as i understand they wont fix the window..can you help.

A recall was done on the door module controls but after the repair, the airbag warning light lit up. The headlights blow one at a time with in 2 months. One tale light and the third tale light bar on the window also failed.i don't know if it is installation issues or the module caused an electrical overload. No one is willing to admit error.

I have a 2004 pontiac vibe , the head lamps and brake lamps have stopped working and the fuses are fine therear center brake lightstill works and the brights of the head lamps still work. I was wondering if there have been any other incidents? and the radio display has stopped working also , i havealso heard about that from other pontiac owners.

During the nighttime brightness of the headlights cannot be adjusted. This causes poor visibility to the driver.the headlights will only adjust to the high beams. Driver has to decrease speed while driving at night in order to see the road.consumer contacted the dealer and statedthere was nosolution for this problem because this was how the headlights were designed.

A leak occurred in a fuel line over night while vehicle was parked in our driveway. It has since happened on six additional occasions to date--oct. 2008, april 2010, dec. 2011, july 2012, nov, 2012, and april 2014--necessitating towing to a service facility.

Drivers side window makes a popping sound when rolled down. My indications were identical to complaint 10245483. I determined the door strap was hitting the glass when the door was closed. I removed the strap and ground the t shaped metal as instructed in the above complaint (see my complaint #10269413). This eliminated the loud popping sound but i still had some scraping noise. I went to the dealer to get a new retaining strap. I was quoted $175.00. I asked to look at it and discovered the design is different than the one on my vehicle. The t bracket is no longer square and the edge facing the glass is now at a 45 degree angle. I removed the strap once again and ground the bracket to 45 deg. This fixed the problem.pontiac apparently has recognized this problem and has changed the design of this bracket.

I have the age old problem of the popping sound when i open or close the drivers side window. I have had the bolts replaced per the recall and there was no change. After reading report #10245483 i did as suggested. There is no problem when the door is open only when it is closed. I removed the door limit strap and could see shiny metal where the t part had been rubbing. I removed this restraining strap and ground about 1/8 inch off the t section. This corrected the problem. Thanks to the author of complaint #10235483.

2004 pontiac vibe. Consumer states defective transmission and right front passenger power window. Consumer also writes in regards to slow shift, clunk and gears jamming when shifted in reverse and accelerate *tgwa service team mechanic informed the consumer the transmission shifted electronically, and he needed to accelerate gently. In addition, the mechanic stated a diagnostic scan did not indicate any problems.

We purchased a used 2004 pontiac vibe gt with a 6-speed manual transmission. While driving down the highway at 70mph, the gear stick popped out of gear. Was able to put it back into gear but only for a few seconds before the gear stick popped again. Car and transmission only have 80,000 miles on them. Reading forums online, transmission problems seem to be the norm for pontiac vibes. What can be done to correct the issue?

Premature transmission issues, transmission stopper working around 80k, multiple reports of issues found from the same vehicle models.

2004 pontiac vibe with 5 speed manual transmission failed 3 times. First in the summer of 2007 at about 65000 miles. Transmission shop said it was a known issue with a bearing in the transmission, for which the manufacturer did not take responsibility. They also said it was difficult to get replacement transmissions due to the issue. I had the transmission replaced for about $3000 and, very soon after, heard the tell-tale noise of imminent failure and had the transmission shop replace it under the 6 month/6000 mile warranty. That second replacement transmission failed in february 2014 at 208000 miles. I will not be replacing it.

My 5 speed manual transmission suffered a catastrophic bearing failure as i was pulling into my driveway.if this had happened 10 minutes earlier, it would likely have resulted in an accident.this problem appears to be very common with this vehicle, there should be a safety recall.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that when applying the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would sporadically become unresponsive. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

Have a 2004 pontiac vibe gt and just had to replace the clutch at 67 000 km.this is not the first car we've owned with a standard transmission, our previous car was a 1996 pontiac sunfire which had 200 000 km on the original clutch when we sold it.we bought the 100 000 km powertrain warranty, but were told that the clutch is not covered.i had to pay for the replacement myself.we bought a new car so that we didn't have to worry about performing major repairs on it for several years.

After 33700 miles of normal driving, my 2004 pontiac vibe gt needs a clutch replacement.i was told this was "normal wear" by the dealership, but i have never had a clutch fail at such a low mileage.

1. Clattering/grinding noise coming from 5-sp. Manual transmission, slowly growing louder. Sudden change in sound and 35 miles later...2. ... Transmission locks up at intersection. Vehicle could not be pushed; had to be towed.3. New transmission and clutch installed. Old parts still available.

The manual transmission on my 2004 pontiac vibe seized up at about 140,000 miles.at first it made a high pitch whirring noise then almost immediately failed as i was on the freeway thus slowing my speed down considerably to the point where the wheels became locked at one point (transmission froze while engaged).even when i fully depressed the clutch it stayed engaged.i have read from others (after this occurred to me) that the transmission has a faulty design.it uses a plastic master ball bearing that can shatter and cause the transmission to suddenly seize.a plastic ball bearing is used instead of using a more durable one like a metallic ball bearing that would only cost of few bucks more.this apparently has to do with manufacture profit.this is happened about a week after christmas 2009 and i have been the original owner of the car.this is dangerous for myself and for others on the road.for the safety of others, a total recall of the pontiac vibe's manual transmission should occur.

The transmission on our 2004 pontiac vibe went out.we had the vehicle towedand they found that the transmission had such severe damage that it could not be rebuilt.the cost $2500.00 on a car that we thought we could depend on.our 2003 honda civic has twice as many miles on it without any costly repairs. Pontiac told us to bring the vehicle to them.when we told them that it was in the process of being fixed they basically told usthere was nothing they could do for us because we did not bring the vehicle to them first.we immediately had the process stopped, until we could find out more information.we contacted gm to register our complaint.after a few more conversations with gm and elhart pontiac, holland michigan, we were told to continue to move forward with having the car repaired and to bring the transmission out to elhart.customer service, at elhart, found that a clip or a bearing had come loose and that is what caused the damage.this is not suppose to happen on vehicles with 78,000 miles on them. We were then told that we would have a three way conversation with gm, elhart and ourselves to talk about what they discovered and see if we were eligible for any assistance. This conversation never happened.we simply received a phone call saying that we were denied of any assistance.this decision came from the district manager, whose name we were denied, and we are also being denied access to any and all of the records that general motors was given.when we asked to speak with someone higher up, we were told that we could not speak with anyone and if we wanted to proceed we needed to write a letter.so basically we bought a gm car and after we purchased it, general motors could care less about our, the customers, satisfaction or standing behind their product. We simply feel that when you invest in a vehicle, youshould be able to expect it to not incur such costly damages.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt became loose and failed to retract. In addition, the rear seat safety belts failed to latch to the buckle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

There are two recalls on our call for the srs and airbags but when we brought it in there were no parts available,so they are unable to fix the problem.it is our only car so we just have to keep driving it with these potential dangers to ourselves and other drivers on the road.

Dt: the rear passenger seat belt twisted around the child's abdomen and would not release.every time the child moved it clicked tighter. The child had to be cut out of the seat belt. There were no problems with the seat belt before.

Why is there no recall information on your site regarding the pontiac vibe and toyota matrix.

Plastic footrest, front floor, left side has cracked and broke free from it's retainer clips twice.the first one was replaced at 15,348 miles on 01/29/2007.the second occurance at approx. 66400 miles on 01/16/2013.this footrest has the potential to get jammed beneath the clutch, brake, and/or accelerator pedals once the plastic retainer clips fail and the pedal becomes loose on the floor.causing a very dangerous situation if the pedal is not immediatley removed from the floor.

After lightly striking a metal post while backing up in a parking lot, i put the car in drive and the vibe took off. I hitthe brake but no response (looked to see if foot on brake. It was.) the car sped up and i collided with two cars and ran into a motel wall. Air bags deployed. Car totaled.

My 18 yr son was driving our 2004 pontiac vibe homein rush hour bumper to bumper traffic on a curvy, mountainous, two lane road on state route 4 in (near white rock) in the los alamos nm areaaround 4pm. He was driving under 55 mph and as he rounded one of the curves,he was unable to keep the car on the road and it ran straight off the road(to the right), instead of turning, over heavy brush and several iron fence posts. He has always claimed the car brakes and steering stopped working.the many adult witnesses confirmed the car "suddenly veered off" for no apparent reason and the tracks indicated the car remained in a straight line the entire time. The air bag was not deployed. I had noticed the car sometimes wasn't tracking well on turns prior to this incident. The gas tank was low. The adult witnesses all commendedour son on his driving ability as he avoided hitting other cars. A driver in the hummer behind him assured us that "something must have happened with the car -not his fault -too sudden - miracle he didn't roll ." the hummer driver had been behind our son for some time.the (state farm)insurance company totaled the car. We like the vibe and purchased a 2009 replacement. Weassumed that our son's inexperience and youth were major contributors, but thatsomething went wrong with cardue to straight tire tracks andwitness statements. The examination of the car found nothingwrong with the brakes and steering pump after the accident, but extensive damage underneath prevented any real analysis.my son remainsaccident free with this exception and has only 1 speeding ticket received this year. We hope you continue to research these type of accidents with vibe/matrix. I have always thought something was wrong with the steering and drive the new vibe more gently, but love getting over 30 mpg.

2004 pontiac vibe original tires worn out by 24000 miles, second sethad severe vibration unable to fix and worn out 38k, dealer aligned and put in shim,3rd set tires same problem severe vibration and noise just under 50k miles.tire shop said prob with car and suspension, keeps cupping tires.

Gm recall #15406gm keeps sending me reminder letters to have my car fixedbut gm is dragging their feet on making the part to have the car fixed .since i live in a hot humid state(ga) i would like to have the car fixed.-thx-

Dt: the contact statedthat vehicle was equipped with power windows.while she was rolling up the front passenger side window heard a popping sound.the window formed a crack and shattered.also, the contact complaintthat the steering wheelwas very loose.she felt that it was difficult to maintain controlof vehicle because she had to keep two hands on the wheel at all times to keep it from moving.upon inspection by a service dealer, they found that the bracket underneath the steering columnshifted.the dealer would have to replace the brackets to remedy the problem with the steering wheel.

The recall is on the bolts of the window and so as i was trying to get the window to close it just shattered...there are 2 other recallson it ....they had the car for 2 days and they haven't done nothing to it yet...and as i understand they wont fix the window..can you help.

2004 pontiac vibe.the factory installed sunroof blew off the car while it was being driven.

Spots/distortion on dash and getting worse.

2004 pontiac vibe, 3.000 paint is chipping off and bubbling.

The door stop on my driver side door on my 2004 vibe gets hit by the window and prevents the window from going down all the way.it has also prevented me from opening the door if the window is down.

Hood latch failed at highway speeds allowing the hood to open and bend backwards, breaking windshield, fully obstructing driver's view, and damaging the roof of the vehicle as well as the hood, hinges, and body panels

The paint is very easily chipping and it's pitting in the front. There are numerous paint chips all over the vehicle. This vehicle has been chipping since i bought it new in early 2004. I took it to the dealership and they said it was normal. I believe the paint is bad or the clear coat is way to thin. The car already needs to be repainted and i have only had the car for about 7 months.

My daughter was driving to a dr. Appt in boston from gloucester.the car hydroplaned hitting the jersey barrier, spinning to the other side of the street hitting the guardrail, and further spinning to hit the jersey barrier again totaling the car.this is not a complaint as much as it is info for taking us off your recall list.we no longer own the vibe.i do want to say, however, had my daughter not been in such a well-built vehicle, she would probably not have survived with just bruises where the seatbelt held her in place and bruising to her right knee because her knee hit thedashboard area.the drivers side airbag did not deploy, which we questioned why due to the severity of the accident.that being said, she was rather happy it did not deploy because she felt she would have had more physical issues had it deployed (burns).--- thank you.

08-08-2018>vehicle drivers side window when rolled down makes a loud popping noise.took it to gm dealership h&h in council bluffs, ia.they said it is the window regulator which is worn out.the car has 95,500 miles on it.in reading other owners comments/complaints they had a similar problem which was not associated with the recall for bolts.in several situations the window shattered due to this problem.this would happen whether the vehicle was stationary or driving on the road.i took it in for repair and they stated it was the window regulator which needed replaced as it was worn out, cost $240.00 and told me the passenger side window was also worn but was not making the noise yet.when vehicle gets out of repair shop i hope the problem is cured but from reviewing similar customercomments i believe it will happen again sometime.i have reported the problem to nhtsa with reference#- 1260755.

The contact owned a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle slid and crashed into a wall. The contact mentioned that the passenger side air bag deployed, but the seat was not being occupied. The contact did not disclose if a police report was filed or not. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired.the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 190,000.

All 4 door handles are broken off. I have to use a pair of pliers to open the door. Ive noticed almost every pontiac vibe has door handles broken off. To me this is a safety hazard because if i were to be in a wreck and become unconscious or trapped. There's no way for anyone to get into the car to help me.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. While the front driver's side window was going down, a clunking sound was heard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (h&h buick, 3400 s. Expressway st., council bluffs, ia, 844-879-6715) where it was diagnosed that the window regulator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 95,500. Consumer stated the previous recall notice was accomplished in may of 2017 but window problems were present after that was done. The dealer replaced the window regulator but it did not solve the problem. My drivers side still clunks when window is rolled down and it sounds like window could break at some point, this should not happen and is danderous. Replacing the belts on the original recall worked for a time but it came back. I was told a new regulator for the window would solve the problem. After window regulator was replaced the clunking sound still happens. Updated 10/18/18

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that rear driver side door would not open or lock unless the master switch was pressed. The vehicle was broken into due to the door not automatically locking. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 40,000. Front passenger front door makes a popping grinding noise when you open it.i was never notified by gm or my dealer that there was a problem with the check strap hitting the door glass/regulator assembly and that the check strap should be replaced with a new design.they had my address and phone number on file. When i received the recall letter for the bolts and window regulator, i was not told about the check strap.the dealer said the track was bent and it was not covered under the recall.i was told it would cost me $600. To repair.i feel i'm getting a major snow job regarding the damage to the window regulator and the bent track.

2004 pontiac vibe the rubber striping and molding on the driver's door keeps splitting and wearing out every 3500 miles.also there are 2 spots on the inside of the door where the paint is gone in 2 exact round spots from the door vibrating.i was told by someone other then the dealer that his could be caused by one of two things.either the body is flexing or there is a weld missing on the unibody.the flexing would be because of the sunroof.they (the factory) removes a beam to put the sunroof in and this causes a structure problem which is causing the possible flexing. The dealer replaced the molding once and gm is refusing to replace it gain.they had an engineer put the vehicle on a frame machine to see if it is straight.i have been advised that this is a safety and defect issue and should be extremely careful driving this vehicle.

Insulation between roof and headliner comming unglued and laying on headliner.

Front passenger headliner leaked water onto seat and door arm rest after extended period of rain.same problem had previously developed on drivers side, dripping on driver, which became a distraction while driving.this car has an electric sunroof. Drains were not visibly plugged or jammed.

I am the owner of a 2004 pontiac vibe.i came across an article in the el paso times from the associated press regarding the front driver and passenger windows shattering when it is being raised and lowered.i did have this happen to me in my pontiac vibe.the window shattered as i was raising it.i went into the pontiac dealer and they had a very hard time getting the parts they needed to repair the window, it took them almost a week to have my car ready.when i picked up the car it was still not fixed correctly.they took the car back into the garage while i waited and made some adjustments to it and when they brought the car out to me they told me that this was the best they could do.air comes through the window because it is not sealed correctly.they said the window was secure and should not shatter again.

Around 20,000 miles the 2004 pontiac vibe began to have excessive tirenoise and the tires were cupped.the car became so loud it wasdifficult to carry on a conversation in the vehicle.the car has been to the dealer multiple times for these complaints without resolve of the issue.the dealer states nothing is "wrong" with the vehicle although the last time the vehicle was at the dealer there was a service bulletin out for the excessive tire noise and cupping of the tires.however, the dealer stated the car just needed new tires and aligned.the car has been looked at by independent certified mechanic and does not need aligned.the problem identified is the rear axles are excessively tilted and this is causing the wear on the tires and the excessive noise.

My car was taken for repair for the front driver, passanger windows according to the recall letter. After the repairs were done they will not stay on track now i tried to take them back to have them fixedi was told it will cost $500 dollars. Also all four of my door handles broke off what are the odds of that happening.i'm sure their is a defect with the door handels.

The drivers side door handle crumbled into pieces. Shortly after this incident the passenger side door handleand recently the drivers side back door handle crumbled. Last week, as i was getting out to open our property gate, the door swung shut trapping my dogs inside of the car. (i lock all door upon entering the car.) i had no way to open the door. Fortunately motor was running or death would have occurred (texas heat) by the time we discovered a way to break into the car using an allen wrench and a pair of vise grips. If i had not been home and this was a child instead of a pet a law suit could be filed. The dealership does not recognize this as a factory defect. There are several other cars of the same make and model i have seen that have the same issue.i have one door handle left and am terrified to drive or park the car without a window open, inviting theft and vandalism. I cannot afford $1100,00 or assume this is in any way the fault of the consumer. Please help.

Very bad quality of paint. Especially on the hood. Thousands of complains from users on the internet. Gm didn't respond to my questions and emails.

I took my vehicle in for the airbag recall and also wanted the recall for the window regulator to be taken care of. I was told that it had expired? my drivers sude window us definately affected as it makes a loud metalic thump going down about midway.the dealer was gmc zubor in taylor mi. I wasnt aware a safety recall could expire.

Driver side window made a loud clanking noise when using the power switch to lower it with the driver door closed. This occurred several times both during driving and while in park. Driver side window will not rise to the closed position, it is all the way down. When depressing the driver side window switch to raise the window the motor of the power window can be heard running, while the window itself remains in the down position. An examination of the power window system concluded that the bolts that hold the power window regulator in place had become loose, two of which were missing. As a result, the window had slipped from its track becoming a projectile inside the driver door.

After the consumer removed his foot off the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowly decelerated.the engine idle was slow to return to normal when the accelerator was released.the problem could cause and accident and resulted in an extensive use of the brakes.the dealer acknowledged the problem and stated that it was a design feature and not a failure.the dealer installed an event recorder on the consumer's vehicle. *scc

My gmc factory installed ignition switch key comes out while driving!my gmc factory installed ignition switch key does not open the door or hatch that could place my family in a dangerous deadly situation in have needed to get in my car to escape!

While driving to work i lost power steering and the engine and battery lights remained on. A friend looked at it and advised that the air conditioner compressor that mounts to the engine completely separated from the engine. Bolts are broken, mounting broke off engine, and radiator hose is damaged. Called gm they said for them to help, i needed to have a diagnosis from one of their dealers. Diagnosis done, they stated, a/c compressor broken and not attached to engine block, 2 mounting bolts are broke off in engine block, 3rd bolt is missing and mounting hole is broken, recommend replacing engine. I was then advised by gm due to no recall, even after review of the diagnosis.so after a required diagnosis per gm and the car towed to and from the dealer, the case was closed and they advised they could do nothing to assist me in any way. I would figure that this is an excellent way to make a person whose vehicle is not working, depends on it for their livelihood, and has to pay the expense, which i find to be entrapping the consumer into thinking they will assist them, yet in the end, again they dismiss themselves from any liability. The vehicle was purchased used in 2007, the dealer advised it had never been involved in an accident and since i owned the vehicle, i have never been involved in any type of accident to cause damage to my vehicle. I had regular maintenance done accordingly.i feel that something such as this should not have occurred unless of a possible defect, flaw, or damage in related to an accident. The advisor at gm said, well it is a 2004. If a vehicle is 7 years old is can have mechanical problems and failure to function. It is acceptable to merge auto makers who are also learning glitches in specific models and benefit from each other, however if something goes wrong, completely release any relinquish any assistance to the consumer.

We have been getting the run around from the local pontiac dealership, when they finally fixed the recall problem on our 2004 vibe, they damaged other parts on the driver side door. After we arrived to have this repaired they tried to charge us for the damage they caused during the initial recall repair.

Pontiac vibe, 2004. Was driving at 65 miles per hour on hwy with cruise control on. A car pulled out right in front of me and i slammed on the brakes. I missed the car but instead of my car stopping, it accelerated, while i was forcefully stepping on the brakes. It continued to accelerate and i was fish tailing to the point that i thought the car would roll. To stop the car, i went into the ditch and a field and it finally came to a stop. The people who witnessed it also saw the car speed up while at the same time the tires were skidding as i was braking so hard. There was no damage to the car. I brought the car to the dealer and they could find nothing wrong with it. They state they had tried to reproduce it but everything worked fine. I thought it had something to do with the cruise control so i continued to use the car but have never used the cruise since and did not experience any difficulty until recently. On wed, 11/15/09, i was in a parking lot and stepped on the brakes to let a car pass in front of me. Immediately when i hit the brakes, the car accelerated. To try and stop it i initially tried to push as hard as i could on the brake but the car continued to accelerate. I then started to shift it into neutral and let up on the brakes. The car stopped as soon as i let up on the brakes but only after i had traveled ~20 feet up an embankment. I again brought it in to the dealer who could not find anything wrong and could not guarantee it would not happen again. I will not drive it as i am now scared of what might happen. My husband and i are considering our options.

Vehicle accelerated(resumed)to beyond theprevious speed setting, until i disabled the speed control system.

While driving on sunny days, consumer cannot see the speedometer needle. However, it is encased in black, and the needle itself isvery dark red, which makes it very hard to see how fast consumer is going.

Consumer complaint is regarding a 2004 pontiac vibe brake and accelerator problem. Floor mats have been removed as a recall precaution but problems still persist. The consumer stated he was almost killed in a head-on collision. He some how managed to avoid a collision by turning the vehicle into a curb and an open area. The consumer stated he lightly tapped the accelerator and the vehicle rapidly accelerated. The consumer stated on several occasions, his vehicle suffered damaged due to hitting objects, because the vehicle was out of control and he had to try to avoid causing an accident. The consumer stated he has been complaining about sudden acceleration problems for the past 3 years. The consumer stated he disposed of the floor mats, but the acceleration has been going on since 2007. The consumer stated he left the vehicle idling. He heard a mild noise coming from the engine and when he left and returned, it sounded as though the accelerator was being applied.

Car sometimes accelerated on its own.this happened to multiple drivers of the my vehicle both while driving at about 35 mph, and when stopped at a red light.rpms went up to about 6000 and car tried to take off.we were able to stop it by braking hard, but the car was still revving.even shifting to neutral didn't stop the high revs.only turning the car off completely stopped revving.i am reporting this now because it sounds very similar to the problems found in a variety of toyota models and my car - the pontiac vibe is made by toyota.the problem was intermittent but very frightening and happened at least 4 times within a two month span.there was no way to reproduce it since it was so intermittent.even though cruise control was not on when the problem happened, after ruling out sticking accelerator pedal, pedal getting caught on the mat, etc., the dealer suspected the cruise control could be involved.the cruise control was completely disconnected for about 8 months during which time there was not recurrence.then the cruise control computer was replaced and the cruise control reconnected and the problem has not recurred in over 2 1/2 years.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that when applying the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would sporadically become unresponsive. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

After lightly striking a metal post while backing up in a parking lot, i put the car in drive and the vibe took off. I hitthe brake but no response (looked to see if foot on brake. It was.) the car sped up and i collided with two cars and ran into a motel wall. Air bags deployed. Car totaled.

Cruise control accelerates without any driver input.was cruising at highway speed when the cruise control started to accelerate the vehicle without any driver input. This failure has occurred 2 times in the life of the vehicle. It is not easily repeated and nothing has been done to correct this condition.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe.the contact experienced sudden acceleration in the vehicle while at a complete stop. He was advised that no complaints were filed related to the failure.the contact was advised to take the vehicle to a chevrolet dealer and pay for a diagnostic test. The contact spoke with toyota and was advised that they did not manufacture the vehicle. The vin was not available. The current mileage was3760. The failure mileage was 20,000.

My passenger window kept falling, once the window shattered. There was a recall notice to replace the bolts. This was completed in may 2009. Today, it happened again. I rolled the window down and was rolling it back up and it became completely dislodged, to the point the entire window came out.i was able to get it back into the door.they are going to charge me again for the same problem they have already "fixed". The dealer attempted to charge me $675 window did not end up shattering, but they said entire window needed to be replaced but was not part of the recall however it's the same issue as twice before. The dealer saidthe bolts and sash are faulty, but something else has to be wrong for this to continue happening. I believe the problem may be faulty"guides" for the glass.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. While the vehicle was idling with the rear defroster activated, the rear hatch window shattered. The vehicle was taken to lupient buick/gmc (7100 wayzata blvd, golden valley, mn 55426) where it was currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 9-5481767211. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 210,000.

I received a recallnotice (notice 07273) from pontiac informing me that my windows had the potential to shatter.that explained why the windows rattled and i heard a loud metallic clanking sound every time i opened the driver's side window.i tookthe vehicle into a local chevy dealer and they said they performed the needed service. They lied.the dealer faked the repair.the windows still rattle and the metallic clank (think of taking a wrench in each hand and smashing them together)is still there every time i open the window.the dealer who faked the repair says they've done all that they are going to do.i'm left with windows that pontiac says could shatter at any time.

2004 vibe had a recall for the popping of the drivers' side window. Took it 3 times to d & g pontiac in port jervis. Problem still happens. Window got stuck then went off track.took it to royal pontiac in sussex, nj and they said it wasn't the recall problem. It's still not fixed. I have to pay over $100 to have it fixed when i feel it still is a defect problem. Apparently, looking over the complaints, people still have the problem with the car and the service departments for pontiac are saying that it's not a recall problem. The service manager at royal pontiac basically told me that other people complained about the same problem and they won't do anything about it.

Passenger side window of our 2004 pontiac vibe making popping noise when opening or closing.sounds like it's off the track and snagging on something.we stopped using the window and contacted the pontiac dealer.they want over $100 just to look at it.newspaper article says other vibe owners have experienced shattered windows which is what i fear is going to happen to ours.pontiac should fix this design defect asap.

I received my 2004 pontiac vibe as a birthday present. Ever since the day of purchase whenever the front driver side power window is lowered or raised there is a loudpopping noise. I have heard about the windows shattering while driving. I am very concerned because i have a very young child in the back seat, and am afraid my window shattering and causing an accident.

Front passenger side power window made loud popping noise going up or down until window came off track. Driver side soon began making the same noise but didn't come off the track. Took vehicle to dealer to have recall repair gm recall no. 07273, dealer replaced the bolts per the recall and stated that the problem was not related to the recall and would require replacement of the window regulator on both windows as well as a new window and motor for the passenger side. Upon further research i determined that the root cause of the problem is interference between the door check and the window--and for anyone else who has a similar problem--you can confirm this by opening the door fully and rolling the window up and down--if the problem goes away while the door is fully opened, then the cause is the door check interference. To remedy the problem, i modified the door check by removing about 1/8 inch of material from the t-shaped part of the door check that was causing the interference--this fixed the problem on the driver side. Replacing the door check may also fix the problem--but maybe only temporarily unless the design of the door check is changed to prevent interference. Unfortunately, because the passenger side window had already come off the track, the regulator was also damaged and the clips that mount the glass to the regulator will also need to be replaced at the very minimum.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v162000 (visibility). The contact mentioned that after the repairs were completed, the door glass became separated from the window regulator and caused the window to become stuck. The technician advised the contact that the regulator was fractured and needed to be replaced. The contact felt that the failure was due to the recall not rectifying the initial failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 200,000.

I drive a 2004 pontiac vibe. I would roll the driver side front window and it would make a popping sound. Before i could get it fixed i received the recall notice from pontiac for the door bolts. So i took it to the dealer and they replaced the bolts and it still made the noise. With this i took it upon myself to find the problem. I found it was the door check causing the problem. It was hitting on the bottom of the window, pushing the door check down making it snap back up and hit the window with the corner of the check. I make my living as a firefighter i know how car windows breakand i am amazed that it hadn't broken! i replaced the part before it had a chance to break the window.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal banging from the front driver side window. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number:08v162000(visibility:glass, side/rear) and the vehicle was repaired under the recall. The failure recurred one year after the repair. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The vin was unavailable.

After receiving a recall notice about the front side window on our 2004 pontiac vibe the window became misaligned after making a noise. We had an appt for the morning of 7/31/08 for the recall repair. We had gotten the window manually back in the track and the window was shut. When shutting the door the window shattered on my daughter cutting her legs.i notified the dealership and they said that the breakage was not covered by recall or warranty and canceled the appointment to order the glass. I can't understand how when an incident happens exactly as described in the recall on the way the have the repair done the recall does not cover the incident and to have an injury involved as well.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. While the front driver's side window was going down, a clunking sound was heard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (h&h buick, 3400 s. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 95,500. Consumer stated the previous recall notice was accomplished in may of 2017 but window problems were present after that was done.

Driving home two nights ago through the city and the driver's side window wouldn't roll up and almost broke. It is loose of the regulator and out of the track. Once i got home, i had to remove side panel to get it back in the guide in order to close it. Still broken. Gm/pontiac says it is not within the assigned recall vins. But it is the exact same issue!

Purchased used car from toyota richmond, window shattered 2013 fixed (toyota had warranty but had to pay for glass), window broke again two months ago approx. Contacted gm they won't fix repaired once. I am repairing for the second time. It is a safety issue because glass shattered in my face first time it happened.so, in total this repaired part is getting ready to be repaired for the third time out of pocket.the original recall didn't repair the problem. And this is going to continue to be a safety issue. I think it is more than a regulator problem i think there are parts that are not getting along with each other. Because it should not be snapping every few months. Worried someone is going to get hurt. Will not purchase a vehicle from gm again. My first car i had for 17 years. It had manual windows and i wish this car did too.

When i briefly stopped on my way into work on 9/19/2007 in my 2004pontiac vibe, i heard a loud noise in the drivers side door when i closed the window.there was no obvious damage and the window seemed to work okay.i then drove to work and entered our parking garage where i lowered the window to use a pass.when i raised the window, it stuck about 3 inches from the top.i decided to inspect it after i parked, but on my way up the parking ramp, the window exploded.glass was blown throughout the interior.fortunately, i didn't suffer any injuries although the loud noise and exploding glass was extremely frightening.my first thought was i had been shot at. I immediately put on the brakes and ducked down.fortunately no one was immediately behind me.i parked and have made arrangements for repair.i read the complaints from customers in your nhtsa file.several concern the same problem.a noise and then the window cracks, breaks or explodes. Why is there not an investigation?

I have been hearing a popping sound on the driver's side door window for a while, buti didn't know what it was.when i went to roll up the window itstarted sticking ,then as it was going all the way up there was another popping sound and the window blew.i brought it to a place to be fixed.this popping sound also happend withthe2003 vibe, but the window didn't break.

During january of 2007 i noticed that my driver's side window was making a rattling noise everytime i would open and shut my door.i needed to get some work done so i took my car to the dealer for a regular tune up and mentioned the rattling in the door and my concern with the window.after my car was returned they had assured me that my window was looked at and nothing was wrong with it.after a couple months the rattling started again.one warm night i had my window down and after trying to put it up, my window came up crooked.i slowly put my window down and tried to pull it up slowly and straight in fear of rain that night.after one time of trying to put it back up my window shattered on me while sitting in my driver's seat.i was covered in glass and suffered from minor glass cuts.there are still pieces of glass i am finding throughout my driver's side door.after getting my window fixed a couple days later i was told that my window should be stable and in working properly.by the end of october, i started noticing a noise coming out of the top left corner of the driver's side window.i noticed that my window was out of place and there is a quarter of an inch of window that does not meet the seal.along the edges the seal is starting to peal out and there is air getting through.this has also started along the front passenger side window as well.in december of 2007 i went to put my window down at a drive through and found that my window, once again, was coming in crooked.although it hasn't shattered again on me yet, there is still a gap between the window and the seal.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe.while driving 5 mph and operating the driver side front window, the contact heard a grinding noise and a pop sound.the following day, she attempted to put down the power driver side window, but the window would not go down.the grinding noises continued.the contact was unsure if the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign id number 08v162000 (visibility:glass, side/rear).the failure mileage was 75,000.updated 05/19/08.*ljupdated 05/19/08.

Driver side window started making noises when putting it up.as time went on, the noises got worse, until the window finally shattered.we had the window replaced, and shortly after that, the same problem started to happen again.

My 2004 pontiac vibe drivers side window exploded. I heard a metal clang, like a part falling off inside the door when the window was rolled down. Shortly window afterward the driver side window exploded cutting my wife who was driving at the time.

My 2004 pontiac vibes driver side window was getting off track.when i tried to gently move it back into place, it shattered.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 08v162000 (visibility:glass, side/rear). Approximately two years later while driving approximately 20 mph, the contact attempted to close the front passenger side window when the glass dropped down into the door panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the front passenger window regulator was missing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 144,000. The dealer informed the consumer the problem was with the regulator and motor. The consumer believed the bolt failed and the regulator became detached. The consumer believed the recall that was performed two years prior was shoddy or that the power windows were just defective and prone to safety problems. Updated 06/09/11

Rolling up driver side window the window popped and shattered.i took it to a dealer and had it replaced - $250. It had recently come off track again and while looking under the door panel myself i can see where the bolt is grinding into the door and not moving all the way up the track.

Purchased 2004 pontiac vibe from a dealership.noticed right away problem with windows "clanking", "shaking" when in operation.dealer was waiting on part to correct problem.on my way to work and dropping my daughter off at school, i lowered driver side window to check mail box.upon closing window, it shattered all over me and inside of car. (this while car was in motion!)needless to say, i missed work and my daughter missed classes that day as we waited on dealer to pick up car for repair.window was "repaired" but problem continued.to this date am not able to use any of the windows as the passenger side has same problem as well as rear!!we are entering hot temperatures and would like to be able to lower windows for air when air conditioning should not be required.not to mention when needed in drive through situations (bank, etc.) please advise as to "where do we go from here."thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe. The contact stated that the driver side window regulator mechanism failed. In addition, the driver side window made an abnormal noise, contained a deep, horizontal crack, and was becoming off track. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 08v162000 (visibility). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The drivers side front window makes a strange popping noise when closing. It sounds like it's trying to crack.

I had two events of failed front door windows on 2004 pontiac vibeone with broken glass all over drivers seat, received only minor cuts cleaning up as far as i can tell the windows came out of the track and with great force shattered.into many pieces. The second time this happen it did not break only came off track.the local window company would not repair do to reputation of this happening. They told me to take it to a dealer, who repair it. Both times this happen when vehicle was stopped. I would hate to think what could have happened if the car was in motion. The 2nd time this happened and only came off track was recent and has not been repaired yet. I'll wait to see if i hear from you before its repaired.

I am a resident of canada but think you should here my complaint. We have heard a clicking noise in the front passenger window of our 2004 pontiac vibe. The window finally failed and came off the track and right out of the outside of the frame while driving down the road. Luckily we did not use it any more until we went to the dealer and they put it back on track and in place. They then told us it would cost almost $400 to repair a stripped window regulator. Our warranty was up 3 months ago due to timing. There is still only 35000miles on vehicle. We did not have the repair and contacted g.m. Canada they said they would look into it, have not heard back. I then seen the articles that nhts is investigating many similar failures in other vibes. I contacted transport canada but their investigator did not think it was safety related. That is why i am contacting you to make sure this problem is brought to your attention. It definitely think it is safety related as far as i'm concerned and think the manufacturer should be made recall and repair these vehicles.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe.the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v162000 (visibility:glass, side/rear).the failure previously occurred on april 24, 2006; however, the contact was unaware of any recalls at the time and paid for the repair.the driver side window was popping as stated in the recall.he took the vehicle to the dealer for the free repair, but the window continued to pop and make clicking noises.the manufacturer stated that because of the age and mileage of the vehicle, they would not cover the cost of any future repairs to the windows.the failure mileage was 102,000 and current mileage was 107,000.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe.while driving approximately 30 mph, the front driver's side window began making a loud popping and clicking noise.it sounded as if the window were about to shatter.the noise occurred every time the window mechanism was activated.recently, the contact received a safety recall notice related to the window regulator.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for the recall repair; however, the repair was done incorrectly because the failure still persists.the vehicle has not been repaired a second time because the dealer refused to correct the failure for free.the failure mileage was 74,000 and current mileage was 123,182.

Front driver power window "pops" when rolling down as if catching on something in the door. Concern is that window may eventually catch and shatter causing a safety hazard especially if vehicle is in motion.

The front driver's side window is making a cracking like noise when it is lowered, when this noise occurs the window shakes a little bit. It sounds as though it will make the window shatter, and i am very concerned that it will sooner or later. This has been occurring consistently for the past year and a half. I have an 04 pontiac vibe.

On june 23, 2007, my drivers side window started to make a lot of popping noises when the automatic window switch was used.the window became loose and when the window was rolled up all the way, the window shattered.i paid for the replacement of the window and regulator clip on this date for $289.00.

Driver'sside power window began sticking at a certain point when rolled up or down. Rolled window up and window shattered while driving.

The contact owns a 2004 pontiac vibe.while driving 5 mph, the glass shattered when the driver side window was rolled down.the glass shattered on her son's shoes and he was cut.the contact drove the vehicle to her residence and it was later taken to the dealer for repairs.the dealer stated that the bolts were loose, the motor blew out, and the regulator was defective.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 77,000 and failure mileage was 76,000.

Car was in park when i was in the process of putting down the driver side electric window.when it was going down it made a loud noise and then stopped going down any further.at this point it was about 3/4 of the way down and the window was now at a slant.it allowed me to put it back up, but in the process of the window going up it shattered.the majority of the broken window was on me and the front seat of the car.luckily the car was in park when it happened and i only has a few cuts on my legs from the broken window.in 2008 i had the car in for a recall to replace bolts to both of the front window regulators, mileage at this time was 47,000.the gm dealer i took the car into to have the window replaced, informed me that i need to have the regulator and run channel replaced.

Windows stick and sound like they are going to break when power windows are engaged.

Window on pontiac vibe opened and would not close.took immediately to the dealer with the recall letter stating the bolts would come lose and the window would come off the regulator and could shatter. The window came off the regulator but didn't shatter. They told me the track was damaged and it would cost me almost $600. To fix. Gm argued that because it didn't break how it was expected, it was not covered under the recall.

I own a 2004 pontiac vibe. Last summer it began to pop/click when rolling it up or down. It shattered in my lap and i did receive minor cuts when rolling it up during a rain storm. I thought that someone had actually shot at me because it was sudden and shattered completely. At that time, i had a glass specialist come to fix it and was told by the man that it is common in vibes and that he had replaced many of them. I just happened to be in my drive when it shattered but if i had been driving, i have no doubt that it would have resulted in me crashing. I had the same thing happen to the passenger side window and had it fixed just this past september. Now, the front drivers side window simply fell down inside the door. I have paid over $380 on this window and it still is not fixed. I was told that it was due to a faulty window regulator. My window is still not fixed, a friend wedged it up until i can get this resolved. I feel that it is a safety issue as i said if i had been driving, i feel that it would have resulted in a crash. I did receive minor cuts just sitting in my drive. Glass was all over me as well as my drive way. It shot at least 20 feet away.

Driver side window shattered. I had to pay out of pocket $1079.50 for new regulator, motor, glass and tightening ofpassengerside window bolts.. Old parts are available.

While attempting to raise the passenger side window, the window made it's usual popping/clicking sound and then stopped.the window control was then activated again in an attempt to lower and then raise the window.there was no reponse and then "bam"--the window shattered sending glass fragments into the car and outside.some fragments flew 8 to 10 feet.this is definitely a safety issue as someone could have been injured in the passenger seat or standing close to the passenger window.the window has always had a popping or clicking sound when raising the window--the noise was also noticed on three other pontiac vibes driven when this vehicle was purchased.

The front driver-side power window made a clicking noise everytime i rolled it up and down. When i would shut the door, the window would bang around as if it was partially detached. Eventually, i was rolling up my window, and the part closest to the front of the car slid down, and the window became crooked, and off track. I had to push it up with my hand in order to get it to close. I took it to a car repair shop and had them fix it (they assumed the track had broke). Turns out, a bolt had fallen off, and was sitting at the bottom of my door. Once that was reattached, it stopped making the clicking noise. Also, my passenger-side window has become making the same noise, and i figure it is only a matter of time before it breaks too.

I had a recall on my 2004 pontiac vibe on july 1, 2008.however it never corrected the problem. The recall was to replace the window regulator bolts in both front doors. I continued to get a popping, clicking sound when the window is operated.i thought this noise was due to the fact that i had college stickers on both windows.however, when i removed the stickers, i continue to get the clicking, grinding noise. What can be done at this point?

Front passenger front door makes a popping grinding noise when you open it.i was never notified by gm or my dealer that there was a problem with the check strap hitting the door glass/regulator assembly and that the check strap should be replaced with a new design.they had my address and phone number on file. When i received the recall letter for the bolts and window regulator, i was not told about the check strap.the dealer said the track was bent and it was not covered under the recall.i was told it would cost me $600. To repair.i feel i'm getting a major snow job regarding the damage to the window regulator and the bent track.

The drivers side front window makes a strange popping noise when closing. It sounds like it's trying to crack.

Side drivers window making popping sound and it is getting worse: squeaking, groaning, etc. Dealer could not fix. I feel like the window will break.

I have a 2004 pontiac vibe. My driver's side window has been making "popping" noises for several months. I continue to view reports about these windows shattering and i am quite concerned since the noise my window is making is identical to what others have observed prior to the window shattering. As a result, i use the window minimally to avoid such an occurrence. This matter needs to be investigated and recall made before someone gets seriously injured.

Loud "bang" when drivers side power window is lowered.

When i first purchased my car i noticed that my passenger window was loose. When i rolled the window down it would shake. When i was going to shut the passenger door i had to make sure the window was up so that it wouldn't break. I took it to the dealership and had it fixed. Now recently iheard a small noise in the driver window when i roll the window up and down. Not popping, but maybe like a shifting or like it was going to pop. Sure enough my window was shattered. I was getting out and rolled up the window when i noticed the window sounded funny. Not long later when ireturned to my car was when i noticed what had happened. I took my car to a repair shop to have the window fixed 2 times. The window kept falling out of track. Finally they figured that there must be more going on with the window. I received a call from them and they told me that the regulator was bent. I'm not sure what caused this to happen or the window to shatter, but i know that as long as i have had the car there has not been wear and tear on the windows. I live in texas and use the air condition 98% of the time.

On may 2, 2015 my wife told me the window got loose and shattered while trying to raise it with the power window. I called the dealer and there is a recall number 07273 on the regulator bolts getting loose and the glass shattering. I called the dealer and talked to [xxx] at winegardner gm in brandywine, md and they said they would charge me for a diagnostic if the fix the recall. I called the gm corporate engagement center at gm with [xxx] at 866-790-5700 ext. [xxx] and complained and he also said i would have to pay to get a diagnostic for them to fix the recall. I called customer care [xxx] customer relations 866-418-9319 ext. [xxx] and spoke to [xxx] and she said a diagnostic has to be done and i would be charged by gm for the diagnostic. My vin is [xxx]and my recall is not being fixed. This is the second time the window shattered because of this recall.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2004 vibe glass sunroof came off while driving.the glass struck the road and shattered.the consumer indicated that she wasn't aware that the glass panel had blown off until she heard the frame making noise.the tracks and frame were still attached to the vehicle.it appeared as though the adhesive gave way.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving on the highway at 60 mph, the vehicle's sunroof suddenly exploded and shattered everywhere. After hearing a rattling sound, the vehicle was pulled over immediately and was inspected by the contact.the shattered sunroof was not immediately noticed because the interior sunroof cover was closed.after inspecting the vehicle for four hours, the shattered sunroof was detected.after detailed inspectation of the sunroof the sunroof glass appeared dull and was sticking up. The vehicle was taken to an autoshop for replacement of the sunroof.

My pontiac vibe 2004 with sun roof package first of all the flooring in the car had mildewed and molded.the carpet was replaced after many times going back and forth to the dealership where i purchased at.the flooring in the car is wet once again not from moon roof this time but possible air conditioning tubing that may or may not be damaged.the car still has a very strong odor of mold in it that will not decrease.i am afraid that there may be harmful mold spores that may have already grown from the last time it was saturated with water due to manufacturer defect on drain tubing for moon roof.i purchased my new vehicle about 4 months ago and i have had to have the brakes looked at twice since they were warped, the leakage throughout my vehicle, and the frame needed to be realigned.i think this car is a lemon.the dealership siemanns of bridgeman michigan did replace some parts on it but only after begging to do something about the cars standing water in vehicle started to mold.

Everyone of my windows have had to be fixed for slipping.my drivers window was so bad it actually scrapped off the tinting i had put on.the bolts holding in the windows on all of my windows were loose or not fitting.this has happened numerous times and i had my car to the dealer ship on six different occasions to have this fixed.needless to say they only fixed them one at a time and it took me three times to get them to fix the first one.

On my 2004 pontiac vibe, the instrument cluster is lined with a chrome finish that reflects into the windshield making visibility reduced. Ralph nader criticized this over 30 years ago when car manufactures were using chrome finishes that caused noticeable glare.apparently, pontiac forgot driver visibility when they added chrome and brushed aluminum to their instrument clusters.*la

We took our 2004 pontiac vibe all wheel drive in to discount tire to buy four new tires. Discount tire called us later to inform us that 4 lugs snapped off while torqueing the lugs to 80 ftlbs.. They check checked their torque stick and used two other stick which continued to snap off the lugs. They sent the car over to midas to have repaired and days later when we went to pick it up i had them check all the lugs again, and again at 80 ftlbs. One more lug snapped. So again we waited for a new lug to arrive. A total of 5 lugs snapped of the back end of the car well before 80 ftlbs. Of torque was applied. I work at a steel plant and had our lab check a broken lug and their results were that the lugs were to brittle that there was no longation of the bolt before it broke. Discount tire did an outstanding job in taking care of their customer, i am concerned with how many more lugs out on the roads are to brittle and may snap.
