On christmas eve of 2013 at about 5:45pm going west on 7miles rdgoing into the left turning lanebeginning to proceed to light a van came through the traffic two lanes over from right came at angle from mobile gastation cutting through traffic he like met almost head-on hit the front of truck and continued making his left going east on 7miles rd clearly hit and run meand three other were hurt and i noticed the airbags did not deploy in the owners manual for that truck states that the airbags should have deployed from the impact range 11 to17 mph i contact acted general motors they checked the edr basically they stated their not at fault that it was not enough impact for the airbags to deploy.

2006 pontiac torrent driver airbag did not deploy during rear collision.wires in drivers door were broken which seems to be common problem with this model.not sure if these wires control airbag or not but power windows and doors stopped working, various dash lights go on and off at various times.the wiring harness appears to be installed too tightly causing the wires to stretch when the door is opened and closed.google "2006 pontiac torrent wiring harness" to find that this is not uncommon.

Airbag light is staying on

The airbag light just came on when we turned the ignition on.

My daughter lost control of the vehicle on the evening of 11/9/16 in the rain in an "s" curve, sliding into and hitting a tree. The accident was significant enough for the car to be totaled; however, the air bags did not deploy for her nor the passenger. They both sustained some injuries to the head due to the air bags not deploying. My concern is to report the defect. There is no recall for my vin.

I have a 2006 pontiac torrent, that is/was driven by my son who was on his way home from work. The highway he was driving on has a speed limit of 65 mph, with a leniency of going 70 mph. Well there is construction of repaving the highway, well not all of the repavingwas done especially getting onto the off ramp which has a high 2-3 inch drop off of asphalt. Approx. 1/4 mile of the highway getting onto the off ramp which was not paved completely still having the 2-3 inch drop off of asphalt. While my son was crossing over to get onto the off ramp, the paved drop off grabbed one or both of the left driver tires, which caused a steering and control problem to cause him to over correct onto agrassy dirt area on his right. He hit a tire mark that was left there from other accidents in the same area while the dirt was wet. As he hit this previous tire mark, he rolled the car three times. He was wearing his seat belt thank god, andhaving his seat slightly leaned back the seat belt locked and prevented him fromhitting the steering wheel. However, the 2006 pontiac torrent has a rollover sensor that the car has as part of the security package, as well as onstar. As the car rolled the sensor did not sense the car rolling which resulted in not one of the air bags this car has was ever deployed at the time of car rolling to protect my son, which would be driver and passenger air bags and side curtain air bags. I took pictures of the head liner hanging and the air bags still rolled up on the inside. And onstar never detected the accident to get emergency help for my son. A bystander called for help. Thanks to god my son was able to walk a way fromhis car with mild injuries from him wearing his seat belt in spite of the air bags and onstar not working. The paramedics were surprised from looking at the damage of his car that my son was able to get himself out and walk away thanks to the seat belt. As for the car it's totaled beyond repair.

I was in heavy traffic, the car in front of me stopped suddenly and i hit her from behind. My front end has a lot of damage, to the point that my radiator was leaking fluid. I am unsure how fast we were traveling, i will say around 30 mph. My air bag did not deploy.

After swerving to miss a dump truck who slammed on their brakes, my vehicle went off the road, through the median, crossed both north bound lanes of traffic (miraculously not hitting another vehicle) and slammed head first into the guardrail. Thankfully i did not get badly hurt (just rash burn from my seatbelt and whiplash) but i was very surprised, and very concerned, that my air bags did not deploy. I had to have hit the guardrail going at least 50 or 60 mph.luckily this accident was not as bad as it most certainly could have been, especially considering i was on a major highway during morning rush hour traffic. However, i hope that other folks who drive this vehicle have working air bags that would deploy in the event of a serious accident. It was very scary and disheartening that mine failed to work for me. Needless-to-say, i would not recommend this vehicle to anyone else!

I parked our car in front of our house on saturday afternoon and when i went to get in it on sunday morning the whole inside with covered in yellow dust. The glove compartment was open but the dash was intact. I called the police dept and along with the haz mat team from the fire department they determined that is was the air bag and somehow it exploded and ripped open within the dash causing all the dust that was inside of it to come out through the vents and into the interior of the car. My entire car all the way to the back windows is covered by this powder. Also when the insurance adjuster looked at it he stated that the air bag light is not showing that anything is wrong with the air bag! this is the passenger side air bag.if this would have happened while we were driving it would have been horrific! my auto insurance is not going to cover it as it is mechanical and the dealership will not do anything as the car is out of warranty. I am still waiting to hear back from pontiac.updated 09/05/12*lj updated 09/10/2012

While driving down a residential street, there was a wobble in the front right of the car.the car suddenly spun out of control and crashed into a telephone pole. Both air bags deployed.my son, who was driving, was slightly injured and burned from the air bags. There is significant body damage to the right front of the vehicle. The body shop that has the car said the right front knuckle broke thereby causing the tire to fall off and loss of steering control. Other additional damage is a bent frameand bent brake calipers. I bought this car new from the dealer on 4/29/06.

The software in the center instrument panel can cause the heating, air conditioning, defrost, and radio controls, as well as the panel illumination to become inoperative. This is exactly the same thing happening on the 2006 equinox and pontiac torrent and needs to be recalled to have the heater fixed just like the 2010 models so people don't get into accidents because their windows won't defrost.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal knocking sound and various warning indicators illuminated. The abnormal noise recurred while driving 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the engine failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.

My blend door actuator has failed and fell off inside of my cab causing my heat to fail inside my cab for both defrost and heat.i live in a cold climate and it's impossible to drive without heat in the winter.the repair technician quoted me 9+ hours of labor to remove my dash, install the new actuator and re-install my dash.it will take three days to repair and cost me $1800 to fix.apparently, after speaking with the service technician and my local auto shop, this is a common problem with pontiac torrents as i've also read dozens of complaints from people on this site.he said there might be a recall on the part, and i should check.however, after searching my vin, it does not appear to be a recalled part at this time.i cannot believe this has not been recalled as this is such a costly repair to be made for a faulty part from gm.please help as this is not does not appear to be an isolated occurrence with pontiac torrents.

The motor actuator for the air blend door over-rotates, which has caused the air blend door to fail.the result is the car no longer has any heat and the windows can no longer be defrosted.this has been a common problem for 2006 pontiac torrents and chevy equinox (the internet is full of complaints).gm has refused to conduct a recall or tsb due to the large amount of labor required to tear the dash apart to fix (7-8 hours).this is a manufacturing defect that needs to be addressed and can occur at any time, which would cause loss of all defrosting capability of the windshield and side windows.

Purchased vehicle used on 12/06/2006 with 9,968 miles.replaced entire engine ($5,000)on 03/27/2009 due to issues with the cylinder head gasket (was told the vehicle was no longer under warranty). Mileage at that time was 84,625.in approximately 2009 the passenger side window started going up and down spontaneously. My dog had her head out of the window and it spontaneously closed on her head, restricting her airway. The passenger side door was ripped apart and wiring was replaced. The window worked correctly for about 2 years and then in 2011, the window stopped working entirely. Have had 3 wheel bearings replaced (one twice). In january/february of 2013, the ignition switch and fuse center had to be replaced. Mechanics advised that the fuse center/panel was on "national back order" with no known available date. They repaired it. Total cost paid for that repair was over $335.87. Mileage at that time was 171827on april 12th the heater stopped working as i was driving. The fan still blows but only cold air. The hoses from the coolant tank heat up when the car is running. Known problem with this make/model. According to similar complaints filed the entire dash will need to be dismantled to fix the blend door/actuator. Known defective part.

Started driving and there was no heat; only cold air, in colorado 27 degree weather.discovered the heater blend door broke, and there are countless complaints about this on this car.appears to be a known defect.the part cost $50. But the repair will cost $1500.the entire dash has to be removed, and heater box and hoses disconnected.please help get this as a recall!serious safety issue in cold weather if defect occurs!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While the vehicle was parked, it failed to turn off with the key in the off position. The contact had to disconnect the battery in order to turn off the vehicle. All the warning lights on the instrument cluster illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the keys needed to be replaced. The keys were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 135,000. The vin was unavailable.

No heat; temperature control does not change from cold to hot. Believe temperature blend door to be the problem, as this seems to be what the dealers (checked with 3 local gm dealers) all point to as a common problem on this model. This will affect visibility (no or poor defrosting) as well as comfort, both of which are safety hazards when facing the coming wisconsin winter. Strongly believe this to be a manufacturing defect that should be recalled, as it involves a relatively low cost part but extensive labor to dismantle the dashboard and replace it. Estimates have ranged from $800 to $1200 for the job. Please take action on this, as it has been a safety and financial concern for me and my family, as well as numerous other pontiac torrent and chevrolet equinox owners. Thank you.

I am totally outraged finding out that gm placed a non safe part on this truck that i bought brand new. It will cost $1000.00 even after keeping this truck maintenance free, trouble free from regular maintenance at the deliver that i purchased it from. I am very upset that this part was not recalled as the part costs between $22-100.00 while the labor because of where it is will cost up to $1000.00 at the dealer i purchased it from and get regular maintenance check ups with. I totally agree with all of the consumers on here:the actuator that operates the heater blend door - overextends and breaks the heater blend door. This causes the heater to not work at all. The actuators are defective and the heater doors are defective because they break due to a manufacturers defect. If the heat doesn't work the windows won't defrost so this is a visibility hazard. I also listed it as an electrical and unknown hazard.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph or above, the steering wheel and front suspension began to vibrate without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as intended. In addition, the contact stated that the wiring harness that controls the windows, door locks, and side view mirrors was fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.

I was driving down the street coming to a stop when all of a sudden the anti lock/ traction control activated while trying to stop.for a couple seconds i wasn't able to stop as if the car was preventing the wheels from locking up as it would on wet pavement but it wasn't wet at all. There was pulsation in the break pedal preventing me pressing the break pedal all the way down and the vehicle wasn't slowing down at all causing me to almost run into the back of a school bus. It stills continues today after 2 visits to the dealer ship an independent repair facility. There has been several near misses with this vehicle.

2006 pontiac torrent - heat stopped working without warning - only cold air blowing from heater and defroster/defogger. Brought car in for service and had coolant, heater core, fuses and thermostat checked - all fine. Told the problem is the "blend door" inside the dash and it will cost approximately $1000 in labor since the entire dashboard needs to be removed in order for the part to be replaced. This is a safety issue since without heat, the defroster does not clear the windshield or driver side and passenger side windows, affecting visibility. After reading numerous complaints about this same issue i really think a recall is in order here. This is not a normal "wear and tear" issue, and is obviously a design flaw and faulty parts, please help.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the driver seat wires melted through the seat without warning. The contact sustained a third degree burn on her lower back. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be replicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 126,000.

I went through a car wash and water poured out of the reading lights and also on to the driver and passenger floors.my torrent would not move when i put it into drive.eventually, after about 30 minutes, it would go forward a little bit if i put the gas pedal to the floor and held it for about one minute.every time i stopped at a stoplight, the torrent would not move forward when i stepped on the gas - until i held the pedal down for a long time and then it would creep forward slowly.i cannot go through car washes any longer.the air conditioner and heat work intermittently - sometimes just fine, sometimes not at all - depends on the temperature outside it seems.i do not get any warm air when the defrost is on.

I started my torrent just like any morning, the heater ran for maybe 10 minutes then just stopped.it will not blow out any kind of air (hot or cold). Being winter, cold and frosty, this is a severe safety issue.with no defroster it is very hard to see, and its very cold. It costs around 1200 dollars to get it fixed.even if it is fixed i as told the way that they made the torrent that it will just break again.i do not have that kind of cash just laying around.it should be recalled but gm is to cheap.this is not the first time i have heard of this happening.i drive along ways and its dangerous not being able to see.

I own a 06 pontiac torrent and just recently the heater and defroster quit working. After having it diagnosed i was told that the heater blend door was broken and it would cost around $1000 to be fixed. After much research i have found that there are thousands of torrent owners with the same problem, as well as chevrolet equinox owners. This is a serious visibility issue, with no way to clear our windows of fog and frost in these colder months. Although i have not heard of any deaths or injuries resulting from this obvious design flaw, i believe it is just a matter of time. Please help!!!!

Hi, my name is ashley adams. I live in greenville, al. I have a 2006 pontiac torrent with 34,000 miles on it. I have loved gm vehicles since i was able to drive one. I have had a chevrolet monte carlo, 2 cavaliers, and now my torrent. The torrent is the first new vehicle i have ever purchased. I have had problems out of my vehicle since i purchased it in september 2006. It was in the shop twice where i purchased it from. Well my dealer closed so i had to bring it to the local pontiac dealer here. The main problem i am having now with it is that when i turn the key over to crank, it seems like it keeps trying to crank. Also, the volume up button only works about 10% of the time, the heater/air when you turn it on just the feet, doesn't blow on just the feet. It does not change from when you put it on the feet and from when you put it on the feet/defrost. I am just not having any luck with my torrent! i am almost out of warranty and i am betting that they are putting me off till my warranty is up. I have read many different complaints from people online. Alot of them have problems with theirs cranking period. Some living in very cold temperatures and end up freezing cold because their vehicle won't crank. I am pregnant and i need a reliable vehicle! i definitely don't want one that won't crank and me sitting in my car freezing with an infant! please help! i don't know who else to turn to.

As i was driving in a grocery store parking lot, i heard a squeal or winding sound then i saw a puff of smoke come out of my steering wheel - ignition area.

I own a 06 pontiac torrent and just recently the heater and defroster quit working. After having it fixed and paying 200 and driving it 5 miles, i woke up the next day to go to work to have no heat or defrost again to have it diagnosed again and be told that the heater blend door was broken and it would cost around $600 to be fixed.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the windshield wiper blades inadvertently disengaged while in use as smoke was seen coming from the ignition. The contact pulled over and exited the vehicle. The contact opened the hood and flames were seen.the fire department was not contacted as the fire was extinguished by the rain. No injuries were sustained. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The condition of the vehicle was unknown. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving 55mph on a trip the heat just stopped blowing. As since, this weather has been -20 and -25 below and i have no defrost, heat. I went to a certified mechanic only to find out the heat/air/door is broke. Cost of repairs 1200.00 to 1,500.00 it is an all day job. The dash and all components will have to be removed and put back on. Needless to say with this winter being one of the coldest i understand and can feel what others are going through that has this same problem... And i have to bundle just to go to work. I work an hour away and after finding this is a huge problem !!!! i think that there should be money given to the ones that needs this fixed.

Heating system does not work properly, sometimes heat only blows cool air, manufacturer acknowledges this is a defect but only issued a limited special coverage. The special coverage expired in feb 2016, my vehicle heating unit broke in oct 2016! the manufacturer should be responsible to fix this defect! lisa of heating unit causes unsafe driving conditions when windows can not defrost as a result of defect, also occupants freeze their asses off in the winter!unconscionable that gm will not issue a recall for this defect!

My ignition switch moves out of the "run" position, resulting in a partial loss of electrical power and turning off the engine. While driving or when the car is in park but running.i was on the highway where the speed is 45 miles per hour and the car turns off. I don't have anything on the key, including the fob. I even experienced the engine turning off when the car is parked but running.the dealer admits to a recall on another model of pontiac during the same year.

Able to take key out of ignition with the car in neutral gear and running.car was towed to dealership where some work was done, however, when checked with attendant, incident recurred.car startedput car in neutralremoved keys from carcar continued running, engine did not cut off.

I have a problem with the heat and defroster in my car. It does not work, and thus causes major visibility problems because the windows cannot defrost. This is a safety hazard, which, if left unrepaired, could cause a wreck. I took the car to a gm dealer, and they diagnosed it as a broken temperature blend door. I've done some research on this issue, since it is quite costly (about $1100) to repair. I found that gm has previously repaired this free of charge to the owners because this is a manufacturer defect (special coverage/policy adjustment 11135). The actuator had been designed poorly, using plastic instead of metal. This causes the plastic to break when the actuator over-rotates. This problem violates the federal motor vehicle safety standard number 103, which states the standards of having a working heater and defogging/defrosting system.this problem is mentioned in 87 of the 198 complaints for the 06 pontiac torrent, and has a tsb #10044379. With a seven-year complaint history, i would expect the company to do something about this safety issue. I contacted gm with this information and they said they would contact me in 1 business day. It has been over 5 days now and no word from them. All i want is for this to be fixed/covered by gm because it is a manufacturer's defect and is very expensive (i.e. I cannot afford it even though it's hazardous). I would like to drive safely and with full visibility!

1. Key locks in ignition2. Abs light, traction control, brakes warning light , airbagandstay on. . brakes lock up ,tires roll wont stop, pulsation then brake pedal to floor. The lights stay on no gm mechanic can repair.3.clicking, tapping and burning smell coming from under dash and steering column. 4 .when it rains puddles on passenger side and driver on floor of carlike the doors are not lined up with car.5. High beam lights come on by themselves cant turn off drain battery electrical problem.6. Steering locks in turn. Backend of vehicle not balanced rides sideways.at high speed.im sure someone has lost a life in these defective vehicles if a study wa s done professionally from 2006 to 2015 . These defects would be the cause . I paid 20,000 for this vehicle no one can repair .that's why production was discontinued to prevent lawsuits. Vehicle should be recalled bought back from consumers and put out of circulation its dangerous.

Air blend door has defect where motor actuator over-rotates and breaks door.vehicle is left with no heat for vehicle or defroster.this is a manufacturing defect and can happen at any time, causing loss of visibility in cold weather.internet search indicates this is common problem for 2006 pontiac torrent and chevy equinox.

On 09/26/11, i took my car into the dealer about the abs and tc light coming on in the car.i also reported having problems with turning over the car as the car would hesitate and stall at times.in regards to the abs issue i reported a hearing a knocking sound coming from the front end of the vehicle and feeling a vibration on the break pedal when the knocking sound occurred.i was told by the dealer the abs hub and sensor needed replacement.i was also informed the car was still safe to drive in the meantime.the cost to replace the hub was estimated around $437 plus tax. Since i was also having ignition starting problems during this time, i decided to pay for a cleaning induction service recommended by the dealer to help with the ignition starting issue in the amount of $413.56.i was later informed the cleaning of the upper intake, valve, and combustion area had no real effect on my vehicle starting because on 09/04/12 i reported having the same issues with the ignition.the dealer then diagnosed the real issue, which was replacement of the ignition switch. This has left the abs issues still occurring in the car.i have also read numerous complaints online about other pontiac torrents having the same abs and tc issues.this has the potential for real devastating events on the roadways as the abs hub and sensor is defective, causing the braking system to lock up when trying to brake.i want this car recalled for the ignition switch and abs / tc issues.

A number of unusual issues have plagued us with this car! the keys slide out of the ignition while car is still running. At random times, the engine will rev, but the car will barely move until it eventually stops. Even then it will turn on and the engine will run, but it won't move. At other times, the electrical shuts down and there is no power at all, no lights or sounds. We've replaced the battery (a very expensive one at that) twice, as whatever is happening drains it. The car throws codes that make it impossible to pass inspection. These include: e-vap, throttle body, assorted sensors, break pedal, gas cap, heat/ac motor, and so on. We have replaced and/or repaired everything on the code list and still, it won't clear. The check engine light, abs, and tread light remain on no matter what we do. We were advised to keep driving it until the computer cleared the codes to "ready", but it's not working. Recently, white wisps of smoke were coming from the steering column, along with a burning smell. The car just died and refused to start. We had to replace the turn signal switch. These are things that should not be occurring with normal maintenance and driving. We've also been told by mechanics that they are dangerous issues, including the possibility of fire while driving, and failures that cause wrecks. They cannot explain why they are occurring, especially after repair. One person said we probably made some repairs that were unnecessary, but we needed the car to pass required inspection.we are sinking too much money into this vehicle to keep it running and cannot afford a new payment as this one is purchased in full.we are disabled, needing dependable transportation for medical appointments and daily errands. Why aren't there recalls? this model is all over the internet and forums for these faulty codes & issues! incredibly irresponsible of the manufacturer.

2006 pontiac torrent; loss of heating system; no de-ice or defrost capability; $1200 repair cost...failure of air temp blend door assembly.

The heater and the defroster stopped working. I found that there are a lot of people experiencing this problem. This is a safety issue during the winter time because the defrost does not work. Everyone online says the repair is around $1200.00 because of how hard it is to get to the part. Please issue a recall!

The seat heater stopped working.took the vehicle to a local auto shop to have heater replaced.mechanic removed old heater pad; the heater pad had a hole burned into it about the size of a quarter.some very minor scorching on areas that were in contact with the heating pad.i have the part still for reference.

The heat doesn't work in car freezing cold in car

2006 pontiac torrent driver airbag did not deploy during rear collision.wires in drivers door were broken which seems to be common problem with this model.not sure if these wires control airbag or not but power windows and doors stopped working, various dash lights go on and off at various times.the wiring harness appears to be installed too tightly causing the wires to stretch when the door is opened and closed.google "2006 pontiac torrent wiring harness" to find that this is not uncommon.

"blend door" failure, causing no heat and a $1500 repair for a fairly new car.

When stopping vehicle and attempting to exit, the key gets stuck in ignition after turning vehicle off.i have to wiggle key in order to release from ignition. Turning steering wheel does nothing to help the situation. I am worried about possibly breaking key while trying to release it.

April 15th, 2010 our ignition wouldn't kick over. It would take more than three times to kick over. I tried conditioning the spark plug and it didn't help. (we just lived with the problem) june 2011 we had our first electrical problem with the car. The radio was the first to go in may. Then in july our a/c stopped working, and all we had left was our heat. We were able to fix the a/c, but it didn't last very long. We then lost a/c again and our radio started working in august(2011). Shortly after the radio started working we lost heat. Now we have only the radio that works. We cannot see anything because of the heat not working. The visibility is completely horrible! i have researched this issue and found that it would cost us 1,500 dollars to fix it. I can't afford that! we haven't had the car two years yet and it's stating to break down! this is a serious issue!!!

Wiring harness between door and body on drivers door suspected due to multiple components related to door not working. First failure was thought to be door switch needed replacing as dome light would not turn on chime would not sound when locking door and radio would continue to play after door closed. 5 months later the power window fails to operate. (fortunately in the up position) extended warranty purchased on vehicle, wiring harness between door and body not covered. Research shows multiple other cases of problem being identified http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1c2eeathe wiring harness is either too short or installed correctly. I wish to be sure that a replacement harness does not exhibit the same problem as it will lead to a rather toasty experience called a fire if not remedied.

On 2 occasions my car died on me in the middle of the road while im driving with my newborn. First time i got gas. Half mile down the road car dies.they say its fuel pump. Spent 3 days at shop on third day with no work done car starts runs fine for 2 weeks with multiple gas fill ups in between. Three days ago i get gas drive 1/2 block park car, half hour later get in car start driving, try to put windows down but they wont come down. Im now 1/2 mile into my drive on busy road with my baby in the car and i barely made it off the road before being slammed into by a semi.i spent an hour in 80 degree weather in my car with my baby with no way to put windows down.i called a tow truck.by the time the tow got there my car started.i had it towed anyway for fear of having this happen again.tow it to a dealership nothing wrong with it.so this is twice now they have found nothing.i bought this car when i had my child because i was driving a 92 toyota and i just felt i needed something newer and more reliable but apparently i should have stuck with my toyota it never in the time i had it broke down and it had 192,000 miles on it.if this isn't a safety issue i don't know what it is.does it seriously have to be a fatal accident before something is done about this because it just about happened 3 days ago to an infant and myself.please address this issue in a timely manor.

The wiring harness between the body and the driver's door (and front passenger door) is too short, and subsequently stretches and frays and breaks the wires, resulting in failure of various door components including power door lock, power window, side mirror control, radio off when exiting vehicle after driving, door chime whenkey in ignition, door automatically locking when vehicle in drive position (safety hazard), door unlocking when in park position (exit vehicle safety hazard) and door stereo speakers.since this is the least likely culprit when troubleshooting, it should become the first item when any door component fails on this vehicle.the passenger door has an identical issue, however, since the typical frequency of use of this door is much less, the issue occurs less frequently.there are numerous instances of this from hundreds of pontiac torrent owners, with pictures, on the internet.this is how the problem solution is commonly found, the last thing one would think is bad wiring.many owners of this vehicle had challenged gm to repair or recall, to no avail.gm social media bloggers often chimed in to contact gm, but when owners did so, nothing really happened regarding helping out owners with the issue nor the cost of repair.many owners actually paid for or bought completely new wiring harnesses, which are very expensive for the part as well as expensive the in-door installation.others spliced their own wires to effect a solution.this issue is on a 2006 pontiac torrent, however, it is possible that all years of that vehicle 2006-2009 as well as the similar chevrolet equinox 2005-2009 are all effected, since they all share many common components.

During the summer, the air conditioning on our 2006 pontiac torrent started acting up.we could only run the car's air conditioner for a few minutes before it would start blowing out warm air.we found that if we turned it off for a while, then turned it back on, it would work for a while longer, then we would have to repeat the process.now that cooler temperatures are here, we have found that the heater is blowing out cold air.we took it to a repair shop to see what was wrong with it and was told that it was the blend door, which is a common problem with the torrent.cost:$1200, as it would be a good eight hour job to replace the necessary part.since the cost was so high, we took it to another place and was given the same verdict, but the repair cost was substantially less - $750, which is still a lot for a part that costs less than $100. We don't have the money to have this part replaced right now because we just dished out$551 to have the catalytic converter replaced, so we are looking into a portable heater until we can afford to have the repairs done.the blend door should be recalled and taken care of by the manufacturer.our family of five (the youngest being nine years old) has been bundling up every time we get into the car, but are worried about when the temperature gets colder and the windows start frosting over.this part, in particular, is extremely dangerous to be without during the winter, due to inadequate visibility from windows that cannot be defrosted.definitely a safety issue that should be addressed by the manufacturer!!!

No heat in vehicle. Only blowing cold air. Happened suddenly and without warning. This is causing me to be unable to defrost my windshield at all. It frosts up and obstructs my view while i'm driving my car. So far everything i've had done has not corrected the problem. Had thermostat replaced, heater core checked several times, coolant flushed. Still no heat.

The contact owns a2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated while attempting to accelerate the vehicle would not move. The contact also indicated that on several occasions while driving at speeds above 45 mph the vehicle would suddenly stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the defect. The contact also indicated that while operating the heater or air conditioner a mist was coming from the vents leaving a residue inside the cabin. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The contact also indicated that the drivers side heated seat was extremely hot to the touch and a electrical burning odor was present. The defrost malfunctioned which created a visibility hazard. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 85000.

One morning i go to leave for work and my car is dead. When roadside assistance provides a jump start, it's found that my high-beams were on. I did not leave any lights on. I could not get the high-beams to turn off until i pulled the turn signal/multifunction lever toward me and held it there. On 4 more occasions, this exact same incident occurred. My car was dead and required a jump start. The high-beams would not turn off unless i pulled the lever toward me and held it there. This issue is, not only draining my battery but damaging it. It's a huge inconvenience and leaves me stranded at times. Also, it's dangerous. I've smelled & noticed smoke coming from the lever and steering column. No repairs have been made yet. There should be a recall for this electrical malfunction.

The actuator that operates the heater blend door - overextends and breaks the heater blend door. This causes the heater to not work at all. The actuators are defective and the heater doors are defective because they break due to a manufacturers defect. If the heat doesn't work the windows won't defrost so this is a visibility hazard. I also listed it as an electrical and unknown hazard. There are thousands of complaints out on the internet for the 2006 pontiac torrents & chevy equinox's and all of them have the same problem and most of them are around the 50,000 mile mark. Gm will not pay for it if it is past the warranty because they say there isn't a recall for this. These 2 parts should be recalled because it is a hazard to drive your vehicle if you can't defrost your windows. It is approximately $900-$1200 to fix because they need to take apart the entire dash board to get at the actuator and the blend door. Gm should stand behind this and fix this so that people can drive safely and be able to see out their windows.

My 2006 pontiac torrent has been in the shop 6-7 times in the last 8 months.the starter, ac, heat, power steering, radio, and car itself decide not to work intermittently.the repair shop has replaced the starter, the alternator, the power module to the heat/air, along with many other components, however, the problems seems to reappear.it has also lunged forward while coming to a stop a few times.we have complained to the our dealer numerous times and was told to call gm.however, when we called gm we were told that it was up to the dealer to decide whether or not to do anything.

On 09/04/12 i brought my car into the dealer because i was having problems with the ignition switch.the ignition switch would lock up preventing the car from turning over.the key would also get stuck in the ignition and would not release.i had the problem repaired, but with all of the recalls on every other gm vehicle having to do with the ignition switch, i would also like to see the pontiac torrent 2006 recalled as well. Also, this issue happened prior to the recall.so i am not 100% confident the ignition switch that was replaced in my vehicle by the dealer was a defective part.

Car will start fine and run between the 1 and 2 section of rpm gauge.after 10-15 min. Of operation car will die suddenly no sputtering and electronics seem to still work (radio, flashers, headlights, dash lights), must coast to side of road before being plowed into. Check engine light came on. Took into local mechanic said the catalytic converter code was on and that they "blew it out", light shut off torrent ran fine for 1 day. Repeated process is of dying is now ongoing, car will either die or stall (feels like a downshift), then blow out a cloud of black smoke and keep running if engine does not die, also rpm's reduce to the 0 - 1 section of gauge rather then the normal 1-2 section like when i bought it. 2 mechanics could not find the problem after checking 2 sensor's, fuel pump and fuse box. Problem still not resolved....

The heat went out in my 2006 pontiac torrent.took it to the dealership where i was told it was the blend door actuator.i was also told this is a common problem with the pontiac torrent.the labor alone on this problem is $1200.00.the part itself is only costing me $35.00.i feel this is very dangerous as it gets very cold in indiana for winter, and when you have no heat, and only cold air blowing out it reduces visibility to almost zero.why isn't gm recalling this part?hundreds of people are having this problem.i don't feel this is an effective way to keep an honest business running.please make a recall on this problem and reimburse people for the cost.

Driving approx. 45 mph down 4 lane highway in the left lane. Engine stopped and lost all steering & braking control. Able to coast to a ditch on side of the road. Turned the vehicle to off position in ignition switch then attempted to restart vehicle. After 3-4 cranking attempts, car started. Went straight to nearest dealership. Service department stated that there was nothing wrong because the check engine light was not on.second occasion- driving approx. 25 mph down 2 lane road. Began to slow down to turn left- engine stopped and lost all steering & braking control. Able to coast to side of the road. Turned the vehicle to off position in ignition switch then attempted to restart vehicle. Car started after several attempts. Went to nearest service store and once again was told that nothing appeared to be wrong because there were no lights on. Takes multiple cranking attempts to start the vehicle on a daily basis. No pattern to when. Could be in the am, pm, middle of the day, hot, cold, warm, raining, snowing, sunny, cloudy.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel became inoperable. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer; who advised that the power steering module and control module would need replacing. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who replaced the ignition lock cylinder, key and recoded the lock cylinder. After the repairs to the ignition, the key would not immediately start the vehicle. This failure was recurring. The dealer then advised the contact to replace the steering column modular assembly. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

After shutting off my 2006 pontiac torrent, i heard a clicking than a power up type sound and next i knew the car was turning over trying to start.i do not have automatic start and no the key was not in the ignition.i proceeded to open the hood to investigate the situation.i had to remove the battery cover to remove the positive cable so all was quiet.thinking it may have reset itself i put the cable back into the battery, the same thing happened, i again removed the cable and called a tow truck.i was informed the underhood fuse box was so corroded under the box it self that when any moisture is in the air or snow per say it is causing the fuses to shorten themselves out.i was told this could potential cause a fire and was told to google the situation and see.low and behold he was right!people have had fires, melt downs, you name it.the eye opener really came in when the mechanic went to order the parts...there are only 7 of these underhood fuse boxes in the whole united states.yes, only 7!this could be very dangerous!!this could potentially kill someone.as these vehicles are getting older the worse this situation could get.

I have had multiple problems with my ignition and it stripping twice within a year. I have also had to change the ignition fuse multiple times within the last three months. The most recent incident happened this morning while driving at about 45 mph my truck completely shut off. I was lucky to have a bystander get out of their vehicle and push my truck to the side of the road. In the middle of the person moving my vehicle, it automatically started back up. I'm not too sure how or why this has happened. There are no visible warning signals. This happened to me last week as well. Once i start the truck up it runs fine and then just shuts off and after a couple of minutes, it starts back up automatically. This is an extremely dangerous defect. I really hope gm or pontiac looks into this issue... There are multiple complaints with the same issues that i have been having. I believe this is sad that as many complaints that have been issued about this vehicle, that there is not yet a recall on it.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that while entering a garage, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after approximately 5 minutes and the vehicle operated normally. The failure recurred on another occasion when the contact was entering a driveway with the illumination of the check engine warning light. Additionally, the key would sporadically fail to enter the ignition switch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 81,900.updated 4/28/14the dealer stated the ecm needs to be replaced. No repairs have been made.

The electrical wires in the driver side door becomes broken and detached. This causes numerous issues: the driver side door, driver side window, driver left side mirror to become inoperable.

On november 15, 2013 i was driving my vehicle and smoke started coming from up under the hood.i pulled over and raised the hood and the electrical wires to the electrical box was on fire.i cut off the vehicle and sat for a minute and the automatic starter just kept starting the car by itself.i got in the vehicle and tried to start the vehicle with the key in the ignition and when i stepped on the brake it tried to start without me turning the key over.i got back out the vehicle and it continued to automatically start by itself until the battery ran dead.on november 18, 2013 i had a mechanic look at the vehicle and he stated that the electrical system had burned up.

2006 pontiac torrent customer states that the cruise control indicator light does not come on when in use**cc

My car was not on the recall list ,yet i am having so much trouble with my ignition, can not turn my key in the ignition. Please advise.

My keys would fall out of my ignition while the car was still running.also, several times before the vehicle would allow the keys to release while the car was in accessory mode causing the battery to drain.after 3 weeks, a new battery, and loads of frustration a replacement of this part was installed and no issues have occurred since.the repair cost me $197.00....updated12/09/15

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled on two occasions.the first incident was at an intersection while attempting to make a turn. The malfunction and reduced engine power indicators illuminated. I was driving down the street when a bus pulled in front of me to make a let turn. I went to apply the brakes and i only got a pulsation in the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn'tslow down until it was too late. The front of my vehicle hit the side of the bus causing significant damage to both the vehicles. After the accident i noticed the traction control and abs lights were illuminated. After that accident the brakes have been doing the pulsation and inability to stop. I have been to the dealership numerous times and replaced wheel hubs andspeed sensors and the problem still persist. This is an extremely dangerous problem and gm has done nothing!

When backing out in the morning sounds like there are pieces of metal flowing through steering column and when excelerating it sounds like the steering geer box is about to let loose i can feel it through the steering wheel. There has been several recalls with similar models and chasis designs it does not matter the temperature outside or weather type it seems like it started in january and it has been getting worse

Having to replay a acutor that is no more than 145.00 in my vehiclethat will cost me a total of 1200.00 is not fair tothebuyerand it is a safety problem that g m should take care of. I will not buy and other torrentagain from g m or any other vehicle.thank you.

My sunroof drains clogs repeatedly which causes ankle deep water to puddle inside.i had to have it towed from work last month because it would not accelerate after rain leaked everywhere. In addition i had to bum a ride to work because it wouldn't accelerate due to the fact it was wet from the rain. When this happens the traction light comes on causing my car to lose speed. Although pedal is push all the way down to floor it will not accelerate. I would hate to be traveling on interstate and lose speed during rush hour.

While driving vehicle at 45mph engine suddenly stopped and steering became difficult. All dash lights still illuminated radio functional. Coasted to side of road, fortunately there were no vehicle behind me at the time of the failure. I tried to restart the vehicle, the engine would not crank. I waited five minutes and then the engine would crank and start. I took it to the chevrolet dealer and was told the security function of the pcm was defective and causing the fuel pump to stop.

On delivery of 2006 pontiac torrent on july 10, 2015, i experienced while driving on the highway at 70 mph, the overwhelming smell of gas fuel emitting within the interior.i also noticed after leaving the dealership the motor began to sound as if i was escalating into the atmosphere on an airplane to 13000 feet in the air.the vehicle is very inviting, however; the exterior paint as well as the interior has touched up prior to resale.

We were taking my children to the circus on 695 west doing 60 mph when the light showing that the car had overheated and the engine light came on. While doing 60 mph the car just stops in the on the beltway. We could have been killed. There was no power whatsoever. The windows wouldn't even roll up. This car needs to be recalled. The alternator was replaced and a fuel pump and we got the car back a week later and the same issue happened again except this time we were coming out of the baltimore tunnel praying it didn't stop but it did and had to be towed yet again.

My car keep stalling when i drive it for a while and then it acts like it don't want to go anymore. Later on when i drive it again its ok and picks up like normal. I really was upset that i took it to the mechanic to get check out and he told me that it would be about 3000 to get it fixed.

There have been many occasions of my car completely shutting down while driving. I have had it to mechanics many times no one can seem to figure this issue out. I am currently having the recall fixed for the ignition switch. I have read plenty of complaints 1 to many i shall say. And believe me i don't want to put myself, my child or anyone else in danger but this is my only vehicle and i can not afford to buy another one. I would just hope some one can figure this problem out. I don't even care if its a recall although it should be for the many complaint. I just wanna know what the problem is and how to fix it.

My vehicle started to overheat on me so i stopped and checked the coolant levels. I top the coolant level off and continued on my trip (temp gauge back to normal). As i got home the car started to overheat again and i checked all fluid levels but everything was normal. I let the car sit for approximately 30 and then continued driving. I took the car to my personal mechanic and he changed the thermostat, but still having same issues. I notified my mechanic and he then researched all recalls and tsb of my vehicle. He notified me stating gm knows of a known issue with their headgaskets and they recommend using bars leaks if a problem arises. I have followed their recommendation and am now left without a running vehicle. Can someone please get a recall out on this as it is known with all gm vehicles with this motor.

Coolant started leaking into the engine head gaskets blown. Half new engine needed total cost of repair $3,500.

At times the car doesn't crank or start when ignition key is turned to start. On-going issue that occurs at least 4-6 times per month. Unsure why this happens. No repairs have been made. Is there a recall or service bulletin on this issue?

My car's air conditioning system only works part time. After the system runs for a while it stops cooling and warms up in the cabin. Shut off the air for 5 minutes turn it back on cools fine for about 15 minutes then start the process over. Worse on really hot days. Also, heater has stopped working properly. When the car idles, no heat and little heat when the car is moving, worse on very cold days. Also we have developed a leak under the front left part of the engine that only occurs after the engine cools. Does not leak when engine is running. Coolant reservoir has been replaced, still has leak after engine cools.

Problem still not resolved....

Total of 4 occurrences.after accelerating, accelerator pedal became lodged in all-weather floor mat and vehicle continued to accelerate after the operator removed pressure from the accelerator pedal.unintended, uncontrolled acceleration continued during attempted braking.continued braking was only marginally effective at reducing vehicle speed.operator was able to gradually reduce speed through continuous braking although the engine continued to deliver power in opposition.ultimately, the accelerator pedal released from the floor mat and the driver brought the vehicle to a stop.prior to the first occurrence, after-market floor mats had been installed for less than 1month and were suspected to be defective as they have narrow, deep "wells" that cross the mat side to side in the region below the pedals rather than along the length.by inspection, it was easily determined that the heel of the accelerator pedal easily became entrapped in those wells.following the first incident, the floor mats were replaced with ones without the deep horizontal wells.however, 3 additional similar incidents have occurred with those mats.the duration of unintended acceleration was much less because the operator knew to "kick" the pedal loose.

Needed to order an entire exhaust kit made for the issue i ran into which seems to be so common, they made a kit to fix it... Cost or repairs $550.

The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.

The vehicle randomly powers down completely loosing steering, braking, acceleration, emergency flashers and lights, no matter how fast or slow or location. No rhyme or reason to the sporadic complete shut down and doesn't start back immediately and sometimes minutes to hours before it will. Not safe in the highway or side roads or anywhere. There is a fault with the programming in the ecu and gm is the only one who can repair it. Vehicle was recently purchased and i spent just as much as the purchase since replacing parts! it should be recalled before someone gets killed if you google search the year make and model with dying when driving or similar it's clearly something with most of these vehicles unfortunately! scary and unsafe for everyone on the road, especially after dark when it happens with no warning lights or anything to alert others, please help this vehicle will die when driving down the road or interstate at high speed or low speed when braking or accelerating or sitting at a red light! i have replaced everything that has been recommended and it still happens and the repair shop now is still waiting for gm to rewrite or change the programming to hopefully fix the issues but this is unbelievably dangerous and can be deadly

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the vehicle would overheat while idling and leaked coolant. The contact had to continuously add antifreeze/coolant to the vehicle. The contact purchased the vehicle five years ago and the heat never worked correctly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where thediagnosis was unknown; however, the water pump, belts, pulley, temperature cooling sensor, and thermostat were replaced. The failure persisted. After the repair, when the heat was turned on, an antifreeze/coolant odor was present. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact could hear the engine fans turning on when the engine started overheating. The contact stated that the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed her that the vehicle was over the extended warranty plan of 120,000 miles. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Purchased a new pontiac torrent on sept 2006 several times it went in to a no start mode.still having problems noise in engine in shop several times cant find any thing.then really loud noise in engine back to shop, they tore the engine apart and found a bolt from the oil pan lodged in fly wheel.said it had to come that way from the factory..now still noise, starter sticking they say it normal, windows bounce on the way down when wet.they still cant find noise.

No heat in car. 97,000 kms . The dealer states the vehicle needs an actuator, vlv door, and thermostat 250.0$ in parts but 990.00$ in labor. We live in ontario the warmest part of canada. Questioning in that in 3 1/2 yearswe have used this enough to cause this kind of damage. We are not taking regular wear and tear.

The heater stopped working on my 2006 pontiac torrent, cold air comes out of the vents regardless of the setting. I live in michigan where it is essential to be able to use the defrost and the heater. We contacted the dealer and were told that it would cost a minimum of $1200 dollars to fix and 8-10 hours of labor, the actual part is under $100. The delaership even said that this is a typical problem on the torrents and that they have fixed many of them. The warranty doesn't cover it once the vehicle has gone over the mileage allotted by the manufacturer however i don't feel that this should be a factor for the heater as the number of miles driven does not affect the heating/cooling system. I don't feel that i should be responsible for replacing a plastic part and paying for labor especially since this seems to be a common defect in the torrent.additionally and most importantly this is a huge safety issues since you need to see out your windshield to drive.gm needs to make this right by having a recall on this part!

This is an issue with the actuator that moves the flap in the heater/ac case. This causes the heat not to be released into the car, just cold air. This issue is all over the internet with several people having the same issue. I believe that gm needs to see this issue as a fault of the part. The repair for this unit requires complete removal of the dash board. I have gotten quotes from 900-1500 to repair this part and they do not say that its not going to happen again.

I own a 2006 pontiac torrent which heat went out about a month ago. Several diagnostic assessments were done on my vehicle and all three came up with same diagnostic. I was told that something was wrong with the blend box and it would cost $1000 or more to be repaired. I also contacted gm and they refused to assist me. I did research online and found out that there were numerous complaints with the same problem on 2006 pontiac torrents. I would like to know why this vehicle is not on the recall list due to safety issues. When you're driving in fog or bad weather the fogger does not work due to heater not working which is a problem because it obstructs your view and cause you not to be able to drive safely which could mean increased accidents as well as deaths.

The heater stopped working on my 2006 pontiac torrent, cold air comes out of the vents however regardless of the setting hot/warm air does not come out.i live in a region of the country where it is essential to be able to use the defrost and the heater.we contacted the dealer and were told that it would take upwards of $1000 dollars to fix and 6-8 hours of labor, the actual part is under $100.the warranty doesn't cover it once the vehicle has gone over the mileage allotted by the manufacturer however i don't feel that this should be a factor for the heater as the number of miles driven does not affect the heating/cooling system.i don't feel that i should be responsible for replacing the part and paying for labor especially since this seems to be a common defect in both the torrent and the equinox.the amount alone is also something that many americans don't have.

I bought my 2006 torrent september 2007 newwithin one year i started having starting issues.i have had the vehicle in the dealership numerous times for the same problem over the last year.i have several files with pontiac regarding this problem dating back to february of 2008 my first fileis #599-445824. Over the last year the dealership has replaced starters, fuel pumps, ignitions, and other items.since then my manufacturers warranty expired.i opened a recentfile with pontiac in december 2008 file # 71-688518762.after several days of the dealership having my car and me losing pay because i couldn't work. (alfred matthews said my extended warranty wont cover a rental car until a diagnosis has been made) i had to open a file with alfred matthews to get a specialist to look at my car.it took eight days to duplicate the problem and finally they gave up and the file was closed.thespecialist found nothing. The last time it was in the dealership in january 2009 jason the service managersaid i cant help you anymore you need tocall pontiac.this was the service manager jason 209-577-0140the problem is still unresolved.i contacted pontiac as i was told.pontiac told me i have to start over again in order for them to send an engineer out to look at my car today.2-26-2009meaning drop the car off at the dealership again. They also told me that they have called jason at alfred matthews three to four times a week for the past two weeks and he will not return calls.they want to go over my file with him. Jequita lewis a supervisor at pontiac 1-800-462-8782 and stephanie villaon.they will both vouch that jason is usually unavailable.as of now i am waiting for alfred matthews to contact me to make yet another appt to drop off my car.there are 22 other people online who are having the same problems with now resolution. Www.townhall-talk.edmonds.comor go to google .com and type starting issues with pontiac torrent.please help me!

2006 pontiac torrent heater won't blow hot air and check engine light on dealership says test for engine light is a large gas leak and the gas cap needed replacing only a mere $180.i replaced the gas cap myself for $20 and the check engine light is still on.this car needs major recalls but gm won't fix anything even though there are major complaints every where you look. The dealership said they can't even give an estimate on the heater because they would have to take the entire dash off and it would be a waste of time if i didn't want them to fix it while the dash was off.they estimated over $1,000 to fix the heater but said it could be more once the dash was removed.how can i save money for a repair if i don't know how much it will cost.please help!

I have no heat from the vehicle no matter which setting is used. I have read several articles that this a common problem with the 2006 pontiac torrent and chevy equinox.

This torrentstopped at 65 mph on a triple lane highway when i was in the middle lane. A good samaritan with a truck came up behind me with his flashers on and pushed me to the side of the road.the engine would not crank. After waiting a while the engine would crank and started right up. This has happened 5 times now where it just stops but restarts after a few minutes. I understand a vehicle can break and not run.but a vehicle that is running should never be shut down by the computer when it is capable of running and be putting a driver in danger. If this vehicle is capable of correcting itself in a few minutes to run again for another week before it happens again it should run right through the dangerous shutdown. It is a dangerous flaw that need to be addressed. Rather than shut the car down it could go into a run mode to allow the drive to make it to a safe location. Pontiac knows of this issue and has issued service bulletin on it. This vehicle is too dangerous to drive on a highway.

The car has a tendency to have loss of power or stall while driving.the one particular time that is of great safety concern is when it had loss of power while driving on the highway.the car also won't randomly start and have been stalled in the -30 degrees freezing cold for over an hour on a remote highway.took it into multiple mechanics, including gm mechanics, and they have no idea what is going on. Had the battery replaced, throttle body cleaned, etc.called gm, they can car less that the car has a chronic problem.a simple search on pontiac torrents shows there are hundreds of the same issue.

2006 pontiac torrentapril 17,2007 the resistor for daytime running lights replaced, now it is defective again. Also the baffle plate in the heater blower is defective . In order for it to be replaced for the car to have heat, the dashboard has to be taken apart , a $1200 bill.

Heater suddenly stopped working in 2006 pontiac torrent.

I have a 2006 pontiac torrent and now have no heat. Ac works fine but no heater. If this was to happen in the winter it would be a extremely serious safety problem. Doing some searching on the internet there are quite a few people with the same problem. How can this situation become a recall to gm ?

"blend door" failure, causing no heat and a $1500 repair for a fairly new car.

My 2006 pontiac torrent has 28,100 miles. I was driving the vehicle and tried to turn the defroster on for the windshield when all i got was cold air. It did not give a warning at all. I investigated online and found that there are a lot of people with the same issue. It seems that the temperature door has broken inside the dash which makes it impossible to defrost the windshield which i feel is a major safety hazard to my family and i. The part to replace is under $100 but the labor makes the entire repair over $800. I really feel that a temperature door is something to do with a part defect than wear and tear. The vehicle is hardly driven and as a former gm employee, i purchased the vehicle expecting the best quality from my former employer. Please help me because in these hard times, the regular consumer does not have that type of money to spend on those type of vehicle defects. Thanks*ln

I own a 2006 pontiac torrent which the heat stopped working about a month or so ago. I was driving one day and turned my heater on and noticed that it was blowing cold air. My car was diagnosed and was told that it would cost $1000 or more to repair. I have been driving around with no heat and cannot use my defrost due to heat failure which obstructs my vision when driving. This vehicle should have been a recall due to the vast amount of people with the same problem. I would like to know if my vehicle can be returned for full refund in order to get one with less severe heating problems.

Defroster does not blow hot air out. Windshiled will not defrost.

Dt*: the contact stated while at a stop, the vehicle lunged forward without warning.this was an intermittent problem and the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem.also, there was a ticking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle.the dealership determined there were metal shavings in the rear suspension.the rear axle, tie rod, and other components were replaced.in addition, the brake pedal went to the floor when depressed.the dealership readjusted the parking brake and the problem ceased.also, while traveling 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.the vehicle restarted and the dealership determined the lifters in the engine needed to be replaced.in addition, the front driver side window did not also close completely.this has not been inspected by the dealership. Updated 10/31/2006 - the consumer has met with a gm rep.gm has agreed to buy back the vehicle but negotiations are ongoing.

2006 pontiac torrent, 33,350 miles.heat stopped working.took the car to an auto repair shop.problem was diagnosed as a broken air blend door.part cost around $65.cost to repair, approximately $1000.00.mechanic explained that the entire dash board needs to be removed to repair this "cheap part".the majority of the cost is labor.could not see out of my windows this morning because the defrost is not working properly due to this problem.gm should have a safety recall for this part.in doing research, this is a very common problem and needs to be addressed by general motors.the dealer will not reduce the cost of this repair because of the labor involved. This is a definite safety issue.people need heat in their car and they also need a proper defrost system.many people, myself included can not afford a $1000. Repair bill on a "cheap part" with no guarantee that it will not break again.

Heat went out with out warning.upon researching online found it's a common problem and should be recalled.the actuator was the cause of the broken shaft on the blend door. The actuator had rotated too far, beyond its limits, and overpowered the plastic shaft on the door.this actuator isn't just a simple motor. As you know, an electric motor spins when power is applied. The actuator is a small electric motor connected to a gear-reduction unit, with a position-sensing device that is monitored by the body control module (bcm), which is a computer that controls a bunch of stuff not related to the engine or powertrain.when the position sensor indicates that the actuator is at the end of its range of travel, the bcm shuts off power to the motor. The output shaft on the actuator should never be able to reach the degree of rotation that is shown above. Why did that happen? did the bcm malfunction and apply power too long? i doubt it... Because electronic circuits are less likely to malfunction than electro-mechanical devices. I'm going to have to assume that the actuator is faulty... That the position-sensing device (probably just a variable resistor) developed an open circuit, or an internal short circuit, or something.this kind of problem bugs me (and a lot of other people) because general motors has not issued a recall to fix what can be a safety problem... No heat means you can't defrost or de-fog your windshield. What's worse... Gm has not even issued a technical service bulletin (tsb) about this problem to advise dealership service departments about the how's and why's of this malfunction.so i'm a bit concerned that the new actuator might malfunction just like the first one. If gm had issued a tsb, i'd be assured that the engineers had solved the faulty actuator problem, and that all the replacement parts had been revised and improved, and the heat would work just fine for years to come. But i don't have that confidence.recall needed.dangerous.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. Upon starting the vehicle, the low beam headlights and daytime running lights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The contact scheduled an appointment with perrine buick gmc (2730 us-130, cranbury, nj 08512) for later in the week. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

2006 pontiac torrentapril 17,2007 the resistor for daytime running lights replaced, now it is defective again. Also the baffle plate in the heater blower is defective . In order for it to be replaced for the car to have heat, the dashboard has to be taken apart , a $1200 bill.

Vehicle began having hard starting problems where it will not start though it keeps cranking over and over or knocks very badly then sputters out.this can go on 2 or 3 times before it starts.it is intermittent but seems to occur if the vehicle has been running, is shut off, and restarting is attempted after 15-30 minutes.usually if it sits for several hours or overnight it starts on the first try.dealership has not known what it is but believes it is most likely a fuel system component.

My 2006 pontiac torrent will not crank on the first time most times. It takes several tries before it will crank. I have had it checked and nobody can figure out what is wrong. Sometimes it will crank fine. A few people have mentioned a relay issue. Also, brakes have started making a grinding noise off and on. Brakes are not ready to be replaced and no issue can be found. The odometer light has gone out and comes off and on. I was told this could be a cluster issue. I bought this vehicle in 2007 from a dealership and have had alot of problems over the last year. Over the last month, i have been hearing a sloshing sound coming from the back. It sounds like my gas is sloshing around and i have never heard that before. It seems like it is falling apart and it does not even have 86,000 miles on it. I take care of it and keep the maintenance up on it. I see that alot of other people are having the same sort of issues with the cranking but no recall has been filed because pontiac has not received enough complaints! this is ridiculous! i am just waiting for my car to catch on fire from one of the issues or another! i have tried to enter my vin number but it will not take it and it meets all of your criteria. I called the helpline and they said to just skip it. I will enter it here. The vin is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Coolant started leaking into the engine head gaskets blown. Half new engine needed total cost of repair $3,500.

Vehicle purchased new from quebedeaux buick in tucson arizona.serviced for defective parts twice: visor accessory, strutsall maintenance up to date, oil, filters, breaks, etc. A couple of weeks ago the car was emitting gas vapor smells. Within the week it became progressively worse. Took vehicle to certified mechanic for check up. After diagnostics, several other exhaust testing, he pulled the gas tank to see where the leak was coming from. The fuel module was cracked. Replacement gm part was ordered and installed. ($673.16) part only. Upon inspecting the original part, i inquired on the part number etched on the oem part. Gm p/n 15804318 this part number can?t be found on the gm parts lists. It will not cross reference to any casting part number either.a second part number was etched below the gm part number: f00hk00203 (bosch mfg) researching the part it is chinese and there is no direct reference to the required gm parts list or suitable substitute. Could not find direct reference on the niparts.com website. The only place i could cross reference the bosch part number was niparts.com is this a substandard defective part? the exact issues on fuel module recalls affected the pontiac torrent 2007 ? 2009. I believe that the same issue affects the 2006 pontiac torrent. It appears to be a serious safety hazard. Easily confused with replacing the gas tank cap instead of looking into the possibility that it is a more serious issue.i think further investigation should be made.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong gasoline fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who inspected the vehicle. The failure was located at the fuel line. The fuel lines were made with defective plastic that was not heat resistant, causing the plastic fuel line to crack and leak. The fuel pump and lines had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and they advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 12v459000 (fuel system, gasoline: delivery: fuelpump). The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.

The vehicle had a strong fuel smell at the rear of the vehicle while parked, i think the fuel cap is not good anymore and i bought a new one, but i still have the same problem with the fuel smell, i was checking in the internet if somebody have the same problem and witch was my surprise, that many people with the same car year 2006 and 2007 have the same problem, the problem that more of the people report when they went to the gmc, pontiac and buick dealer or repair shop, they found the fuel line had cracked at the fuel pump module on top of the fuel tank and fuel was spraying from the fracture.

I just bought this suv hopping it would be better than my little saturn i had and more trusting. But so far it has proven not safe to put children or baby's in. The seat belts either don'tiach or don't unlatch. I just had to replace my evap at 111,687 miles. I seen that other people have had the same problem and it has not yet been a recall at all. And the engine makes a chugging sound when in park while running. It sounds like it wants to die and not stay running. I notice that when i was at a gas station. I will not put any of my children or my family's children in this suv because of the problem i am having. It's a safty hazard that needs to be taken to consideration. I hope this gets looked more into before someone dies or a childs life is taken.

My car won't start on the first crank at times...i have to give it gas or it will stall...it also starts up hard at first it did it occasionally now it's start to do it every time i start my car...i took it to get looked at no one knows...the check engine light is on as well and reads fuel codes...please help

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, a loud screeching noise was under the hood and the vehiclestalled. Upon restart, the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, where the contact was informed that the noise was coming from the transmission flex plate. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the pcm was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 83,000.

Dt*: the contact stated the rear middle seatbelt would not release.while reaching down the passengers neck became entwined in the shoulder portion of the seatbelt causing minor injuries.the belt would not release therefore the seatbelt was cut.the vehicle has not been inspected and the manufacturer was not alerted.

The heated seat on the driver's side burnt a hole through the upholstery and burnt a hole in my wife's coat.the heated seat on the passenger's side burnt a hole through the upholstery and burnt a hole in my coat.both heated seats burnt holes through the upholstery and there are currently exposed wires.it ruined our coats as well.

Driving down the road i had my heated seat turned on and i noticed my back getting hot. I pulled over and my seat had a hole burned in it and had burned my shirt as well as my back. I have notified gmc already and they contacted my local dealership and they are asking me to pay $500.00 to have my seat fix.i feel this is a manufactures problem and it could have been worse. I have searched online and noticed i am not the only one this has happened to.alot of people have stated they were burned as well.i need something to be done because i do not have 500.00 to correct this problem. I am asking for some help.

My heated seat burned a hole through my seat and through my sweat shirt and onto my skin burning me. My car was parked and i was sitting in the seat waiting for it to warm up

I was driving down the road and had the heated seats on.on the driver's side i felt my back get hot and felt behind me and my coat had a hole burnt through it my back was hot and a hole in the seat also.

While i was driving my 2006 pontiac torrent, my driver side heated seat caught fire.the seat was turned on and began getting hotter than usual.i began to smell burning.i was on a major highway and could not pull over, so i stuck my hat behind my back due to the high temperature.although i turned off the seat i still smelled burning and the seat was still hot.when i got off the highway, i saw that there was a whole burned into the seat and my hat was smoking and had a would as well.this could have been my back.

I had just turned my car on to go to work, and it was cold out, so i turned on my seat warmers. Within seconds i felt heat on my lower back. I reached behind me to see what it was and my finger found the whole and was slightly burned..i bought this car 3 months ago, and there was a hole in the seat when i purchased it. I figured it was a cigarette burn, and the dealer had no information on it. This was my first time using the seat warmers, and the hole is now about the size of a quarter. The seat stopped burning after i turned off the seat warmers.

I was driving down the road and had my heated seats on and i noticed it was getting really hot, so when i got to my destination i stopped and got out and i noticed a hole in my seat where it had burned right through it. So if i had not had a coat on it would have burned me.

The seat heater on the driver side melted through the front of the seat back. It melted about a nickel size hole in the seat and melted several spots in the clothing i was wearing. The wire for the heated seats is still sticking through the hole. The heat in that one spot still gets hot when the seat heater button is pressed, so it is a continuing safety concern to anyone who drives the vehicle.

The seat heater stopped working.took the vehicle to a local auto shop to have heater replaced.mechanic removed old heater pad; the heater pad had a hole burned into it about the size of a quarter.some very minor scorching on areas that were in contact with the heating pad.i have the part still for reference.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact felt a burning sensation emerging from the seat. The contact turned off the heated seat and continued driving home. The contact got home and noticed a hole in the seat and in her jacket. There were no injuries. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the heated seat element was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 147,000.

While driving and stopping my brakes make a grinding noise and the abs and tc control lights turn on this has happened several times

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While driving various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the contact heard a loud grinding noise and the vehicle failed to stop. The contact had to pump the brake pedal several times to stop the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the abs failed and needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,888.

I have had this vehicle for a little over a year now. The entire year i have had this crappy vehicle it has done this. Every time i apply pressure to the breaks it pulsates back at me and makes a grinding noise. I have taken it in to a few different mechanics and they all said it was the abs sensor in the wheel hub. So i replaced the wheel hubs and that made no difference. It still pulsates and grinds every time i stop. The break light and traction control light also illuminate after this happens. This is a serious problem and very dangerous. I live in wisconsin and with the snow and ice this is very dangerous! i have a kids who i drive around in this vehicle!! gm needs to recall this!

Since april 2014 i have replaced brake pads, rotors & calipers on my vehicle. They are now shot again & i'm livid!! i've talked to others who have owned a pontiac & apparently this same issue has happened to others. Been told it has to do with the abs system keeping constant pressure on the pads & not releasing. I'm a single mom and i do not feel safe in this vehicle. I need my car for work, hauling my child around to school, etc & it's not very reassuring when i see on the news that there have been 21 deaths due to gm vehicles. Having brake issues with a car should be acknowledged asap.

Anti-lock brakes engage at about 6mph at every stop, regardless of road conditions.no warning light on dashboard.

Abs engages at low speed when applying the brakes at every stop.this increases the stopping distance causing a safety issue.it does this on all road conditions.

The abs light and tc off light keep coming on. At the same time this happens the brake pedal has what seems like a grinding feeling. The lights come on more frequently in warmer weather. However the grinding is more frequent in colder weather.

Slowing down at a stop sign from 30mph i notice my brake pedal stutter like the abs was activated. It would only happen a few times a day, all a random through out the day. After 3 days of this, the abs light and tc light came on. It was diagnosed with front left hub assembly needing to be replaced at $650. This was completed on a friday. By wednesday i was feeling stuttering in the brake pedal again and the abs light came back on. We took it back to the repair shop and they could not diagnose the issue, so they replace the hub assembly again, thinking there was a defect. This occurred last friday. Today is tuesday and my brakes stuttered again this morning and the lights came on again.they now propose that there is a control module issue or a wiring harness issue. I have yet to receive a quote for the new repairs.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph and trying to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal locked which made it difficult to stop. The contact was forced to pump the brakes in order to release the brake pedal. The contact called the dealer and the dealer informed her that it could be a sensor causing the brakes to lock; however, they were unable diagnose the failure via phone. The contact is concerned about the safety risk involved and the potential of a crash occurring. The failure mileage was 126,000.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact heard a loud grinding noise and stated that the brake system failed. The contact replaced the brakes; however, approximately one year later she had to replace the brakes as well as the rotors. Also the heating system was blowing out cold air. Both the dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The current mileage was 116,000. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

01-01-2009 started having issues with my pontiac torrent 2006 vehicle making lots of noise when turning steeringclunking popping noise, dealership claims my vehicle is out of warranty.

As i was driving i saw smoke come from the steering column of my truck. Then again as i turned the key in the ignition i saw smoke coming from the steering column.

I had been to a town that was approx 30 miles from my home to take care of some errands. I returned back to my hometown and stopped by a store to grab a couple of things before heading to work. I then returned to my car and proceeded to crank it and drive off but when i put it in drive and took my foot off the brake to take off i could not turn my steering wheel but maybe an inch or two. I called my dad to come and check it because he is a mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. After it being shut off for about 20 minutes he crank it up and the steering wheel then worked and i was able to drive off. This was the first time this has happened but i work nights so i do not need to be stranded in a dark parking lot. I have only had my car for a year. I bought it used but it has not given me any problems until now. It has around 40,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While driving 50 mph, the steering wheel shook violently and the vehicle started to decelerate. In addition, a burning odor was emitted through the air vents. When the vehicle was parked, smoke was seen coming front the front driver's side tire. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

First wheel bearing went out at 16k miles to the right front. Then the left front went out with almost 36k miles. First two replaced under warranty. Then at 55k miles started having wheel sensor faults. Dealer fixed. Wire worn through again, same fault at 72k miles. Fixed ourselves with better tape on wire. Next the left wheel bearing/hub went bad and had to be replaced at 78k miles. 3rd wheel bearing for that side. Contact gm and no help with case there, so replaced with part from autozone to save money. At 83k miles right wheel bearing went bad. This one had two bolts stuck. Had to wait around 2 weeks for bolts. Paid a shop to torch off bolts and replace bearing.3rd wheel bearing for that side. This is not normal! bearing should last over 100k. I kept the replacements that went bad if they could help figure out what is the root cause. Luckily it didn't cause an accident, but there is a major problem with my car to cause this.

Got to work and when i put it in reverse the steering froze and acted like manual steering.found out it has the defective electric steering motor that most of the gm's from 2005 - 2010were recalled and fixed at no cost but they didn't put the torrent on that list even though theywere having the same issues as witnessed from the complaints on the gm site of steeringfreezing on the highway with no way to turn or control the vehicles. They still did nothing to fixthe problems and one persons torrent rolled over from the steering freezing and not being ableto turn. I want to know why gm has not issued a recall for this on the pontiac torrent? ourswill cost us $1300 plus labor to fix it and it should never have come to this going bad but should havebeen repaired before we purchased it used. There is no excuse for putting people and their families in danger from this known issue by gm and they should be sued for endangering our kids and families by not recalling and fixing it.

I purchased the car from auto park.driving home and getting on the bypass going appx 65 mph it was very hard to steer.the only way to describe it is saying it is like driving a car with no power steering.i took it to 3 places and all said it was the electronic steering and could not be adjusted.my husband took it on vacation in june 2012 and will never drive it again because of this issue... He will not let our son drive it because he feels it is unsafe.i am finally seeing other people with the same issue.what can be done.it has 90,000 miles now.i have 3 boys and drive a lot.i need this fixed.

A few days ago my torrent which is a 2006 model, the steering wheel started locking up. It happens when i start the truck up and i put it in any gear. The wheel itself will not move at all. Last night while going down the road the steering wheel locked up and completely stayed straight and would not move.yesterday it locked up in the parking lot before i went to leave the wheel again would not move. I then put the truck in park and turned off the truck and turned it back on and it went back to normal where the wheel was moving like normal. This is a serious problem with this truck. Its happening more and more. This is my only car and im a single mom with a small child and i dont feel safe putting my child in the truck and drving him around with the fear of it locking up and then possibly hitting something and hurting us or someone else due to a malfuction. This issue needs to be looked into.

When stopping vehicle and attempting to exit, the key gets stuck in ignition after turning vehicle off.i have to wiggle key in order to release from ignition. Turning steering wheel does nothing to help the situation. I am worried about possibly breaking key while trying to release it.

When car is running, or even in motion i am able to pull the keys from the ignition. You have to turn your steering wheel back and forth and so on to even get the radio to come on at initial start up. Turning the key off and on and hopefully not lock up the column to the point i am unable to turn the key on. The scary thing is being able to remove the key while the car is running and not in the off position. The cold hot switch on the panel has to be turned very slowly or it willnot turn to air conditioning. If you do it to quickly, it acts as if it is still in the red position. The dealership had already replaced this issue when we first purchased the vehicle. We purchased the vehicle in dec. 2010 used 2nd owners with only 90,000 miles on it now. Had issues with the radio since purchase date, thought it was a fluke, but continued to get worst to the point of just pulling the keys out while running. The speed control also shuts off and does not maintain while going down the highway. It holds for about 2 minutes and just shuts off. The speed contain icon still shows on but it loses power and does not work. You have to turn off and on speed control constantly. So lets say its not used so much anymore.

While stopped at a stop light notice smoke coming from vehicle steering column. Smoked stooped while driving but occurred again as i inspected while being parked. Stopped after turning off ignition.

Steering wheel started smoking, brought it in to the shop and the terminal was brown from where it was burning, the shop replaced the terminal and the housing around some of the wires, the shop does not know what started the burning.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent.when the contact arrived at his residence, he heard a clunking sound coming from the steering column.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the intermediate steering failed in the steering column.the vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense.the failure mileage was 34,786 and current mileage was 35,000.

The steering wheel locks on my son's 2006 pontiac torrent.we bought the car new in 2006.2 months ago we spent $1500 in the heat and air issue.ok no big deal.had to do it. But when it comes to the safety of my child, i have to submit a complaint.the steering wheel locks up on him and he can be in any situation, morning traffic, quiet road, and all of a sudden no way to turn the steering wheel.he slows down, in any kind of traffic which leads to god knows what kind of situation.i believe this problem should be fixed for him at no cost.steering wheels should not lockup for no reason.i expect to hear back on this issue.this is very dangerous.i can fix the wear and tear of any vehicle but when it comes to life threatening issues, there has to have been a case study and a solution found and i need to know what it is.

The power steering is going out intermittently. There is no warning,no light, nothing.

When consumer was attempting to back out of parking space, 2006 torrent suddenly accelerated in reverse at high speed.as a result the vehicle crashed onto another vehicle parked in the parking lot causing extensive damage to both vehicles.the vehicle was towed to the dealer's body shop.when they attempted to do an alignment they noticed damage to the steering system components (right front strut, steering knuckle, hub, bearing and lower control arm).the vehicle was then towed to the dealer's service shop to be inspected.the technician inspected and test drove the vehicle and found no codes stored in the vehicle's computer and determined that the vehicle was operating as designed.

As i was driving in a grocery store parking lot, i heard a squeal or winding sound then i saw a puff of smoke come out of my steering wheel - ignition area.

Power steering failure without prior symptoms - power assist failed without warning after being driven/parked/started and driven. Was then parked/waited and it worked again(?) - others have reported failure while underway.consider this notice as date-stamped for future legal use. Please advise on next steps/options.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the steering wheel seized. The failure occurred on two occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

2006 pontiac torrent electronic steering issues.car was started put into reverse but there was no power steering.car was shut off and steering was back.this has happened several times this past year.also when making tight turns steering is hard to turn back the opposite direction.feel something is failing.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While depressing the brake pedal, the steering wheel seized. In addition, the vehicle shook violently when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearing needed to be replaced. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 194,152.

My steering wheel locks up while driving, either when i'm making an attempt to turn or when i first turn on the car and go in reverse and turn the wheel and it locks up causing the inability to steer the car. This is not the first time this has happened, but the most recent. This has been happening as far back as 2009. It comes and goes. I took it to a gm dealership and paid $1,800 to replace the steering column in march 2014 and it just happened again. This is very dangerous and unfortunately i will have to get another car because it's not safe.

Electric power steering is failing (impeller in eps pump) several other vehicles of the same year have already been recalled due to this failure steering jerks on irregular basis. Sounds like chunks of metal moving around inside the steering wheel pump. Happens when you accelarte or turn the wheel.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While the vehicle was parked the contact noticed that there was water on the floor of the front passengers side seat. The water was coming in through the dash board on the front passengers side of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

Water leakage into the cabin of the car. Floorboards soaked after a heavy rain, and the electrical system is starting to short out.

Blend door for heat broke allowing only cold air. Was unable to defrost the windshield and warm interior. Condition limits visibility. Other models of same year have been recalled. Only fix is to remove the dash and replace broken part.

The upper tailgate spoiler flew off. This is not an added accessory.this is a heavy body component. There was no impact that caused it. Fortunately, to my knowledge, no one behind me was injured.i had no idea it was missing until i discovered it days later. I just went out one morning and noticed it was gone. I have read on line where others have had the same problem. It is dangerous and i feel it needs to be corrected by the manufacturer. The same problem exist on the chevy equinox and perhaps more vehicles from the manufacturer.

Needed to order an entire exhaust kit made for the issue i ran into which seems to be so common, they made a kit to fix it... Cost or repairs $550.

Where to start as it wouldn't let me select more than 3 options. I bought my torrent in 06 with 65k miles on it and figured that a 40k/ 4 year warranty was a good idea. It was!! it all started when i took it to a car wash a week after buying it, well i exited the car wash and had no throttle with gas peddle, i was stuck. Brought it to the dealer and was told the tubes that allow the sun roof to drain were clogged and water backed up and traveled down the left front pillar and fried the throttle sensor. Replaced it and on i went. These tubes blocked up 3 more times in a few years only frying it one other time. Within the first 3 years with less than 80k miles every hub had to be replaced. The front passenger twice, and front drivers 3 times. 2 months after i bought it around 67k miles the drive shaft bearing needed replacing. Around 76k miles the entire drive shaft needed to be replaced. Around 85k miles the transmission needed to be replaced front a worn bearing that destroyed other internal parts. Around 83k miles the front left bearing needed to be replaced again, was told by the dealer that the knuckle may be the source of the problem as chips of material were seen to be falling off behind the hub. Just last week at only 101k miles the front left hub was bad again!! that makes 5 times on that alone. Various other issues include multiple abs sensors failing prematurely more than once. I get annual alignments, brand new tires anually, have replaced struts and springs and was told by the dealer the entire bottom is rusting out the worst he's ever seen for a vehicle. These were all oem parts by the chevy dealer, not cheap aftermarket installed improperly by some backwoods mechanic. Can i just post this one lengthy complaint or do i need to create one for every issue?

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated while driving 25 mph and riding over abump in the road there would be a popping noise coming from the corner of the right front instrument panel. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 45,000. Updated 09/15/11*ljupdated 09/23/11

When i hit a bump in the road, my car immediately started making a loud knocking noise when i would hit a bump or when i would press on the brakes. The knocking was coming from somewhere under the car in the rear driver's side. I took my car to my (very trustworthy) mechanic today and he said the axle body of the car was rusted away and that's what holds the suspension in place. This is a very unusual situation that you don't usually see, and is not fixable. I was driving on well-paved streets at a low speed (no more than 35mph).

Several diagnostic assessments were done on my vehicle and all three came up with same diagnostic. I was told that something was wrong with the blend box and it would cost $1000 or more to be repaired. It can not be driven without the heater working because you can not defrost the windshield which is a safety issue. I realize the government now owns gm but this needs to be recalled and fixed or maybe a class action suit of some kind needs to be filed there are hundreds of people with this exact problem.

Blender door broken, hvac, heating & cooling only blows cold air, no defrost!!!

My 2006 torrent has no heat. I have read about this problem and do have the broken temperature blend door. I did receive a letter about this from gm, but since then my car has been fine till the other day when i needed to defrost my windshield. The letter stated that if my heat works to do nothing. But my car is 11000 miles past what they state in the letter to have it fixed for free. They know there was a problem with these doors, it should be covered anyway because a lot of them seem to break. The $1000 dollar labor charge is crazy.

Experienced no heat; fan worked. No heat means you can't defrost or de-fog your windshield. Took to dealer for repair. From invoice -- "temp actuator out of parameter. Broken temp door...temp door does not move...defective temp actuator. Does not respond....r&r temp actuator. Found end of temp door broken off. Temp actuator out of parameter due to broken door. Need temp door....re-placed temp door and temp actuator as needed." cost including labor & parts ~$1550. General motors has not issued a recall to fix this safety issue gm has not even issued a technical service bulletin (tsb) about this problem to advise dealership service departments about the how's and why's of this malfunction.

The ignitioin switch continues to lock up.

Anytime there is rain or melting snow, there is a puddle in the passenger side floorboard. During colder winter months there is moisture inside the vehicle because of this, causing fogging and even frost on the inside of the windshield. Also has caused a disgusting, moldy, rotten smell that is hard to get rid of.

The contact owns a 2006pontiac torrent.theengine surged and the vehicle lunged forward whilethe brakes were engaged.there were no warning indicator lights.this failure occurs each time the air conditioner is on.the manufacturer/dealer is aware of the failure but does not know how to repair it.the failure mileage was 189.the current mileage was 14,000.the contact has repair invoices.

When the defroster or air conditioning is engaged, the rpms spike every 45 seconds.if the vehicle is at a stop, it will surge forward approximately 2 feet before coming to a rest.additional brake pressure will stop the surge.separate complaint regarding a tapping noise coming from the rear of the vehicle immediately after ignition or shortly after.these complaints are very similar to odi id number: 10168679.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

Thank you.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent.the contact stated that the heater blend door fractured, causing the heating system to blow out cold air when the heating function was activated. The failure also caused inadequate visibility of the roadway due to the defroster not properly clearing the windows.a private mechanic confirmed that the heater blend door needed to be replaced to correct the failure but did not perform the repairs.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance.the current mileage was 35,000 and the approximate failure mileage was 34,800.

I have a 2006 pontiac torrent. The heater stopped working on a trip home for florida. We live in pennsylvania, so it is very cold here now. After doing some research on the internet, i have found that it is a temperature door that is broken. I took it to my mechanic, and he confirmed this. It is an 8 hr job to fix because you must remove the entire dash to get at this little $50 part. This seems tobe a fairly common problem on these models, and i think that the company should be held responsible for it. It really seems to only happen on the 2006 model year, so it is like the plastic is weak or something. All you have to do is type in internet search, and say no heat on 2006 pontiac torrent, and you will see it is a widespread problem.

Visibility: defroster /defogger system.

The heater has stopped working. The mechanic says the door rod has either broken or the motor has gone bad. More than 200 complaints regarding this malfunction in this particular model vehicle have been reported. This needs to be addressed under the federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 103 - windshield defrosting and defogging systems - passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses (effective 1-1-88).this standard specifies requirements for windshield defrosting and defogging systems.this is not random in any way. I think we as consumers should band together and form a class action lawsuit again the maker of this vehicle. I will be in contact!!!

General motors has not issued a recall to fix this safety issue gm has not even issued a technical service bulletin (tsb) about this problem to advise dealership service departments about the how's and why's of this malfunction.

I own a 2006 pontiac torrent driving along one day and the heat just went out. This caused a dangerous situation as the defrost stopped working as well. I have been unable to drive the car in the winter for going on three years now its just not safe. Due to the number of complaints filed for this same exact thing it is unbelievable to me that the government does not force gm to conduct a recall before someone gets killed.

The heat blend door on my 2006 pontiac torrent with 79,953. Miles on it failed on october 7, 2010. I found out that this is the problem by researching the internet. I found thousands of other people with the exact same problem with both the chevy equinox & pontiac torrent, which is what i own.i spoke with the dealer i purchased the car from and at first he was hesitant about talking about the problem and what it may cost and then after being put on hold for short while he suddenly came up with an approximate cost of $ 1,000 for labor, parts would be extra which means the real cost with tax & parts is more like $ 1,300.00. Now it seems to me that gm should own up to the problem and at the very least offer a partial settlement based on each case because just one lawsuit will certainly cost much more than that. It appears that not only the blend door is a problem, but also the actuator motor which operates the door seems to be at fault by jumping a few gear teeth inside the sealed case.there is a website where this problem, repairis documented with descriptions and photos of the job/problem from start to finish.www.handymanlyness.com is the website.a class action lawsuit should not be out of the question.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact was driving approximately 30-35 mph when she activated the heater and it would not engage. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was advised that the air blend door had fractured and possibly the motor.in order to repair the failure, the mechanic advised the contact that the entire dashboard would need to0 be removed. In addition, the defroster was inoperable as a result of the failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer per the manufacturer's suggestion and the dealer confirmed the mechanic's findings. The contact was informed that the dealer was not authorized by the manufacturer and she would have to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer for repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 37,675. Updated 02/03/11*ljupdated 02/14/11

Defroster is inoperable. Temperature doesn't change to heat when air blend dial is turned. The heater doesn't work either. In freezing conditions, there is no way to keep the windshield clear due to cold air blowing.

No heat in 2006 pontiac torrent.broken valve door.hundreds of other people are having this problem.however, since the actually maintenance is so costly, gm has chosen to not recall it. ( http://m.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-equinox/tnmhvcte76u9hgth4/p19 ).

Failure of the hvac blend door (verified by gm dealership after paying $135) has made defrosting the forward windshield in cold temperatures impossible.this is a safety issue because of the limiting of visibility and in violation of standard 103 (http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/import/fmvss/index.html#sn103) from the u.s. Department of transportation.gm has admitted a design flaw in the hvac blend door actuator in that a dealer replacement uses an updated hvac blend door actuator which more accurately limits the rotational travel.the failure of the hvac blend door occurs because the original faulty designed hvac blend door actuator travels too far causing structural stress on the blend door which eventually leads to premature failure of the blend door.this results in vent air not passing over the heat core, therefore making defrosting of the windshield not possible in cold conditions.

We own a 2006 pontiac torrent which has absolutely no defrost or defogging system that will kick in. Mileage is 63,000. No warning of this problem, just quit working. This is a safety hazard, especially in cold weather or damp and foggy weather. Nothing has been done as of right now to correct as i see others are affected.

The arm on the air temperature blend door on my 2006 pontiac torrent that connects to the actuator has broken.this allows nothing but cold air into the inside of the vehicle and very difficult to clear the window.there seems to be hundreds of similar complaints pertaining to this problem.this causes a extremely potential hazard due to faulty parts and workmanship.due to the fact that this problem has occurred, this vehicle is inoperable until it is fixed due to colder weather.i have parked this vehicle and i am still making payments.

2006 pontiac torrent - heat stopped working without warning - only cold air blowing from heater and defroster/defogger. Brought car in for service to have thermostat checked - no issues with thermo. Told the problem is the "blend door" inside the dash and it will cost approximately $1254.32 in labor since the entire dashboard needs to be removed in order for the part to be replaced. This is a safety issue since without heat, the defroster does not clear the windshield or driver side and passenger side windows, affecting visibility. After reading numerous complaints about this same issue i really think a recall is in order here. This is not a normal "wear and tear" issue, and is obviously a design flaw and faulty parts, seems this issue is due to a faulty actuator that is over torx the blend door causing the door to break.door and actuator needs replaced.

2006 heater no heat- air temp door broken- no gm help as recalls goes. Got to have heat to clean windshield in winter. Cost out of sight to fix. To me this should be a safty recall.

2006 pontiac torrent - 500 miles on car - ambient temp 35 degrees f - defroster on high for approximately 10 minutes - vehicle equipped with auto dim rvm with temp and compass - mirror attach to windshield failed - mirror shot toward passenger compartment only restrained by wire harness - windshield delaminated at mounting point of inside mirror - layer of glass remained attached to mirror mount - windshield then cracked approx 20" in all directions from failure - on highway at 55 mph - startled - pulled off to see if w/s hit from exterior - no impact on exterior - failure appears to be a delamination at mirror mount possibly due to coefficient of expansion differences between mirror mount and windshield.

Heater blend door is broken - confirmed by two mechanics. From reading online, this appears to be a very common (and expensive) problem in the 2006 torrent and 2006 chevy equinox due to a design flaw. The dealer quoted us $1100-$1200 to repair. Reading online, i am not confident that this problem will not reoccur. Living in ny, we cannot function without a working heater and defroster. We are very disappointed that gm has not issued a recall for this apparently common defect.

The was no warning leading up theincident, which can be a serious safety hazard in cold weather. The 2006 pontiac torrent heating & a/c actuator and blend door has broken causing only cold air to flow through the vehicle. There are many service warning notifications that have published on this issue. The only answer that i have received from pontiac is that it is very labor intensive to fix (8-9 hours labor). This part is a major safety hazard since there is no warning signs that will indicate that these parts are defective. I was driving the vehicle on a colder evening, when the heat stopped working, causing the windshield to fog and obstruct my vision of the roadway. Thus nearly causing an accident. I had a service center look into the problem and notified me of the multitude of service warnings about this very issue.

2006 pontiac torrent. Consumer states problem with the functioning air temperature blend door *tgwthe consumer stated when she turned the heat on one morning, only cold air came from the vents. The consumer learned the plastic door was attached to a motorized actuator which opened and closed to allow airflow past the heater core.

Heater doesn't work. Only blows cool air. Safety issue in winter. Defrost doesn't work. Known problem with heat blend door. $50 part. Quote for repair $900.

Air conditioning is not working and fan only blows warm air.i took it to a mechanic and he said the temperature air door was broken.it looks like the actuator that moves the door overextends and breaks the door.there are hundreds of complaints online about this issue.this is a visibility problem since the defroster will not work.

I started my torrent just like any morning, the heater ran for maybe 10 minutes then just stopped.it will not blow out any kind of air (hot or cold). Being winter, cold and frosty, this is a severe safety issue.with no defroster it is very hard to see, and its very cold. It costs around 1200 dollars to get it fixed.even if it is fixed i as told the way that they made the torrent that it will just break again.i do not have that kind of cash just laying around.it should be recalled but gm is to cheap.this is not the first time i have heard of this happening.i drive along ways and its dangerous not being able to see.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. When the heater was activated, cold air blew from the vents. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the kemp blend door needed to be repaired. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (walser buick gmc of bloomington, 4601 american blvd west, bloomington, mn 55437) where it was determined that the vehicle was not included in a recall or extended warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: 8-3687100903. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

Heater sometimes blows only cold air, regardles of settings

Blend door for heat broke allowing only cold air. Was unable to defrost the windshield and warm interior. Condition limits visibility. Other models of same year have been recalled. Only fix is to remove the dash and replace broken part.

The heater and the defroster stopped working. I found that there are a lot of people experiencing this problem. This is a safety issue during the winter time because the defrost does not work. Everyone online says the repair is around $1200.00 because of how hard it is to get to the part. Please issue a recall!

My 2006 pontiac torrent has been having problems with the heater, including the defroster.i live in an area with a lot of snow, ice and extreme cold and often times while driving in the winter the windshield builds too much frost to be able to see out of it.i am very concerned about this as a safety issue.the repair is very expensive (about $1000).as i understand it this is a very common issue with this vehicle.i believe gm should issue a recall for this problem.

I own a 2006 pontiac torrent my heating system started getting intermittent the end of winter last year 2011 i did receive a recall letter in. The mail from gm about there hearing system switch but nothing about there heating system seems like after reading up on this issue i'm not the only one that is having hearing system problems i spoke to the dealer about the replacement they said that if its not be switch its not here problem from the sounds of it gm has more than just a switch problem !!!!the economy sucks enough i can't spend 1000's of dollars trying to eliminate a obviously existing problem !! who is there to bail out who?

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that there was no heat blowing from the vents only cold air. The vehicle was inspected by both an independent mechanic and an authorized dealer. They both informed her that she would need to replace the heater door. The heater door was replaced by an authorized dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The vin was unavailable.

2006 pontiac torrent heater stopped working, a/c still works ok.

The heater stopped working and cold air blows through the vents.

Started car on a 20 degree morning, and discovered the heater would only blow cold air. No heat no defrost. After contacting our gm dealers service dept., we discovered there is an electric motor that controls the (air temperature blend door) that frequently malfunctions and opens the blend door beyond it's limits and breaks the plastic pins. The door then no longer opens, and of course no heat. The car cannot be driven in colder weather until this is repaired to the tune of $1100.00 to $1500.00. The entire dashboard and all components have to be removed to access this $55.00 part.gm should be responsible for this defective actuator (electric motor) and the labor to replace it as it has occurred many times (you can find many complaints about this on the internet) and it is a hazard.

Driving, turned the defrost on, only cold air came out, unable to defog or defrost windshield. No heat whatsoever.blows cold air at all times.apparently some of the other gm vehicles based on the same platform have had the same problems.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While driving approximately 55 mph the contact changed the defroster to heat; however, it failed to function.he stated that the blend door for the heat on the defroster does not work. He called the dealer and they were aware of the failure but stated that there was no recall related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired since the estimated cost of the repairs were between $1200 and $1500.the failure mileage was 55,000. The current mileage was 56,000. Updated 10/13/10the consumer stated after several calls to gm the blend door was replacedand the cost was split between gm and the consumer.updated 10/14/10

The heat blend door in the hvac unit on my 2006 pontiac torrent broke resulting in no heat or windshield defrosting capabilities. The vehicle has just over 50,000 miles on it.

Heater door failed, no heat...cost of repair over $1500.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the defrost system failed to operate when activated in cold temperatures. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the blend door actuator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 175,000.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. While operating the vehicle, the heater failed to produce hot air and the windows failed to defrost. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the heater blend door was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (lance buick gmc, 2 chauncy st, mansfield, ma) were both notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 65,000. The vin was not availalble.

The blend door for heater is broken and only cold air is allowed to flow through. This has been documented to break in many torrents. The door is designed to only move 60 degrees but the actuator is designed to move 180 degrees causing the door to break. When i called to talk to several body shops to discuss this issue, they explained to me that this happens in many torrents and gm will not recall the part and it is my responsibility to get it fixed which could cost me between $1000 and $1500 for labor and parts.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that he had driven the vehicle without heat for two years. The dealer advised him that the temperature door was not covered under the warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer will be contacted. The failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.

Heater does not work properly . No heat in vehicle . , the heater ac blend door shaft is broken and it is a very common problem with pontiac torrent chevy equinox.

The heater is not blowing any hot air at all. The knobs/switches all work and it forces air out but its very cold air, after reading this site and others it looks like the blend door is broken, there needs to be a recall on this. I seen the service alert for it but it says up to 100,000 miles, mine had more than that when i purchased it, gm should at least pay for it no matter how many miles. I have a toddler and its way to cold to be riding in the car with no heat. This needs to be fixed now!

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the heater was inoperable. The dealer inspected the vehicle and advised that the blender door failed.

All the blowers are working but no heat will come out. Continues to blow cold air no matter what control is selected. Looks like theblend door is broken, which is causing it to not flip over to the heat side.

Heater suddenly stopped working. Fans still work but no hot air.

No heat means you can't defrost or de-fog your windshield. What's worse... Gm has not even issued a technical service bulletin (tsb) about this problem to advise dealership service departments about the how's and why's of this malfunction. So i'm a bit concerned that the new actuator might malfunction just like the first one. If gm had issued a tsb, i'd be assured that the engineers had solved the faulty actuator problem, and that all the replacement parts had been revised and improved, and the heat would work just fine for years to come. But i don't have that confidence. Recall needed. $915 to fix it.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the heater unit malfunctioned. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 140,000.

Visibility: defroster /defogger system.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated the heat stopped working; however, the air conditioner continued to function normally. The dealer stated that the actuator door also failed which was prevented the vehicle from generating air to heat. The vin was not accepted at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 84000 and the current mileage was 84300.

No warning.heat went out on 2006 pontiac torrent.heat blend door is broke and needs to be replaced at a cost of around $800 to $1,000.gm refuses to pay for replacement as vehicle is not under warranty.part is $55 to $65 and intensive labor charges around $1,000 (8 hours).the average american cannot afford this type of repair.found on internet, there are hundreds of complaints on this exact same problem.this includes chevy equinox's.

2006 pontiac torrent; loss of heating system; no de-ice or defrost capability; $1200 repair cost...failure of air temp blend door assembly.

Heater blend door broke, so there is no heat. This is caused by the actuator over extending its cycle and it breaks the valve door.gm hasnt redesigned this nor do they want to take any action for it. This is a serious safety concern to drive with no heat. Ave cost is around $1200 to fix and the part is $40.00. It requires your entire dash to be removed and the blower pulled out to fix the door. People need to get on gm's case and this websites case in order for them to fix this. There is alot of people with this issue weather its a equinox or a torrent.this is a safety issue and gm should be responsible for it not the customer. It is bad enough it cost thousands of dollar sto fix ontop of your car note.

I had 2 wheel bearings replaced with 3 months of one another and then the heater died.just blows cold air - told it was the blend door and would cost $1200 to fix - which i do not have. No defrost either - definite hazard. This is obviously a defect in this vehicle and gm is not willing to fix.my car has 78,000 miles currently -

"blend door" failure, causing no heat and a $1500 repair for a fairly new car.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent. The contact stated that the heater's blower motor malfunctioned and only cold air would blow out of the vents. The contact also stated that the front defroster was no longer functioning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the blend door needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 79,000. The vin was unavailable.

The heat in my truck stopped working in the middle of winter. It was determined that the plastic connection shaft on the air temperature blend door was broken which is a common problem for the 2006 pontiac torrent.

Thank you.

To whom it may concernmy wife and i own a 2006 pontiac torrent there is an issue concerning the air flow into the vehicle mainly when only one rear window opened. With only one or both rear windows rolled down there is a pulsating pressure of air that is quite severe when driving 40mph and over. This also occurs with only front window down at lower speeds but not as severe. My concern being damage to your eardrum, infants being more vunerable and not able to tell, i know it hurts my ears. Have brought this to the service peoples attention and their response being " nothing we can do about it, its in the design of the vehicle".

Heater stopped working. Blowing out cold air. Unable to use defoggers/defrosters.

The contact owns a 2006 pontiac torrent.while driving 40 mph, the contact suddenly heard a cracking noise coming from the front passenger side windshield.he checked the windshield, but found no visible damage.he called the dealer and they advised him to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was 670 and current mileage was 8,400. Updated 04/21/08

The front driver's side wheel bearing went out resulting in extreme vibration and noise.

Passenger side wheel bearing went out resulting in extreme vibration and noise.
