Takata recall:why is this recall process taking so long to resolve?the first notice was received 3/2017--two months ago!!

Took the car in for recall. No light on. Parked all winter took for a drive light came on. Call dealer want 120$ to check it out.

Airbag recall:a recall was issued related to the airbag sensors on the passenger side; this defect does not allow the passenger side airbag to deploy when someone is sitting in the passenger seat.i have a two seat vehicle; the airbag sensor is not working; this recall was issued over a year ago with a status of "remedy not available" - this is not acceptable; if an accident were to occur and the passenger airbag does not deploy, it could be life threatening - there should be a remedy available or loaner vehicles provided until the remedy is available - with a two seat vehicle; this does not leave many options for the owner

Passenger airbag sensor intermittently failed to detect passengers. Eventually, the sensor completely failed and the airbag warning light remained on at all times. General motors dealership service center recommended replacement of pps module ($1,100 for parts/labor).

Passenger airbag sensor failure.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. While stationary and driving various speeds, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 33,000. ...updated 12/28/16 the dealer replaced the ppm module in the passenger seat. Updated 01/04/17.

My car suddenly brakes hard on it's ownas i am slowing and gently applying brakes. It starts around 20 mph. It is very scary and dangerous. To have your car slam on it's brakes on it's own. I have heard that the powertrain/transmission can throw error codes p0700 and p2637 and thatcan cause the same sudden braking of the car on it's own. Also my coolant temperature gauge(digital) intermittently goes blank showing only three dashes instead of the temp. When it does this my air/heat will not work. My passenger door handle broke off. Also my airbag warning light will not go off. I also have a mysterious coolant leak but it's intermittent as well.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the air bag sensor would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 48,000.

Service air bag message and air bag light are on. Passenger side air bag seat occupancy sensor is not detecting when someone is on the seat. System stop working for no reason. Wondering if this malfunction is a manufacturing defect of the sensor. This is a safety issue since air bags won't deploy in case of an accident.

Air bag light on. Diagnosed as air bag switch on passanger seat. Air bag inoperable while light is on.safety issue with the kappa body through multiple years.

I noticed the air bag passenger light was illuminating off. There was an adult in the seat with a weight of 135 lbs. Also the dic displayed "service air bag".from what i gather on the internet, the problem is with the passenger seat module. The cost to fixthis is over $600. I cannot pay this.

My wife was driving down a straight road about a mile from our home andthe road curved but the car didn't and she hit a sign then a pine tree that stopped her. There were no skid marks and the air bag did not deploy. She was hospitalized and the car was totaled. We never could figure out what happened until the ignition problem came to light. She never drove again and developed multiple infections until she died feb. 24,2013 at age 57. Not knowing the wreck was not her fault.

My airbag lights suddenly came on and the dealer ship says my airbag module has gone out. Why would a vehicle with only 62133 miles airbag module go out, its been one thing after another, cup holder broke first month i had car, then rear axle recall,,then ignition switch and god knows what else.i had to replace both door handles and the passenger door was hardly ever used but they broke off from just regular use. Now i am told i need an air bag module, shouldn't that have lasted for the life of the car. That's a safety issue because my airbags aren't working. I am gonna have to fork over 557 dollars not to mention the 92 i just had to pay just to find out why my airbag indicator light is on. I paid over thirty thousand for this car and it should still have working air bags.the company should have to fix it, they took that bail out from me the tax payer.

Service air bags light up bad sensor light stays on while driving.

The contact owns a 2008 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 24,048.updated 08/28/14*ljthe consumer stated the dealer discovered that the seat sensor was inoperable. The manufacturer offered to pay approximately 50 percent of costs for the repair. Updated 09/02/2014

This the second time within a year the passenger seat sensor has failed. Last time i had the dealer (gary lang auto group) diagnose the problem withand reset the new sensor which i purchased form a gm vendor and installed myself. It still cost me $600 !!!! since then i have met a gm tech who will reset the new sensor which i will again buy and install, and have him reset the sensor as a tech 2 is needed to do so.this is unacceptable, and i do not know why you are not investigating this safety issue. If you take the time to look at other kappa complaints you will see it is widespread, considering how many were built from 2006 to 2009. Even though now i have a gm tech as a friend, it is still going to cost me almost $500 to repair. Ridiculous.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminates whenever the seat is occupied.the dealer inspected the vehicle, but could not determine the cause of the failure.the failure mileage was 14,682.

Service airbag warning stays illuminated, passenger airbag is not engaged when a passenger is in the seat. I have seen many cases reported by other customers. Very surprised that this is not on a recall list.dealership states not a defect. Failure caused by water getting to the unit (ie coffee spill on passenger seat?). Personally, i had no coffee spill, but dealership "detailed" my car two times.if this is so common, perhaps the unit should have been protected against water causing an important piece of equipment to malfunction.no doubt in my mind that this should result in a recall due to the air bag safety system intended to save lives commonly malfunctions.i have not driven my car for 2 months due to the fact i cannot get a sticker and it will cost $1,000 to fix at the dealership.

The vehicle has an open recall 17v061 for the pps. The dealer- patrick located at 4700 w. Henrietta rd, ny 14467 replaced the reinforcement strip and mat for passenger side seat per the recall. After completing these steps, the passenger air bag off light is still illuminated and the service air bag message appears on the console. Both gm and patrick refuse to cover any further diagnostics under the recall although the services they performed did not resolve the error messages. The dealer has closed out the recall and gm's customer support group will not cover any further diagnostics or repairs.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. While driving various speeds, the service air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the passenger side air bags needed to be replaced. The dealer charged $125 to diagnose the failure. The dealer also stated that the contact needed to pay $1,100 for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact later received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer stated that the parts to do the repair were not available. The failure mileage was 57,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. While driving at 55 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the air bag sensor failed and the warning light remained illuminated, with a warning message to service the air bag sensors. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,560. Updated 09/02/15*ljupdated 12/15/2015

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to the dealer in 2008 when the contact noticed that the front passenger air bag sensor did not illuminate when a passenger was seated in the front seat. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.updated 05/16/17*ljupdated 08/03/2017

Service airbag message appeared on lcd display, passenger airbag will not turn on when a passenger is in the seat.after researching this issue it seems that this sensor failure is a pervasive issue and should result in a recall due to its directly preventing the function of a crash safety system intended to save lives.if this system does not fall under federal guidelines for a necessary recall, gm should institute a good-conscience recall due to the prohibitive cost of replacement of this simple sensor (<$800).

Hundreds of pontiac solstice, saturn sky, opel gt (whether turbo or not) experience, just like myself, srs faults that turn off all airbags in the car. When i say solstice, i mean all the kappa platform, 2 seater, sports cars. Due to, the passenger pressure sensor in the seat that tears. After the pressure sensor is broken, the gauge cluster shows a code: service airbag system. This disables all the airbags in the vehicle, including the driver's steering wheel airbag. Many other vehicles have this same problem recalled. As a community of solstice owners, we believe that our cars are not recalled because there were less solstice's produced. And of the cars that were produced, many are in storage and/or have very very low miles (which the pressure sensors will only break under fatiguing of the passenger entering and exiting the vehicle) because of being a rare sports car. The earliest recorded date of this being an issue is in 2008, which the solstice came out in 2006. We have no option but to pay near 700$ to replace the sensor, which is just as prone to failing as the one that they originally installed. A few owners have tried to hard wire the system to have all airbags operational all the time, however they have not succeed.mine, along with many other solstice owners are driving on the road with non functional srs because of this. Which will potentially hurt or kill the driver. This issue happens no matter if stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, braking, etc. After the sensor breaks, the srs is completely disabled, whether moving or sitting still. I and the rest of the solstice community sincerely hope nhtsa will consider requiring gm to replace and/or repair the passenger airbag pressure sensor. Not all owners have the money to replace it immediately. I have attached a picture of a broken passenger pressure sensor.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags) and stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the repairs. The dealer (chevrolet center inc., 101 cypress gardens boulevard, winter haven, florida 33880) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

The service air bag light is illuminated on the dash panel the airbag sensor for the passenger side does not change from on to off. It always remains lit off.i have researched the issue and there are numerous complaints relating to the passenger side air bag seat sensor failing.the part alone is over $300 and to have a dealer repair is over $700.regardless, this is a safety issue and is widespread on pontiac solstice and saturn sky models.gm has yet to issue recall for this issue. What are they waiting for? this seems similar in nature to the current recall for the ignition switch where up to 300 people have died.the issue does not clear itself and is always on the dash panel warning system.

After normal city driving for about 10 minutes on august 20th, 2016 with a passenger in the car, the car's dic displayed "service air bag" and chimed. The passenger airbag indicator switched from "on" to "off". My wife was in the passenger seat, sitting normally. At the time, the vehicle was traveling roughly 45 mph in 4th gear on a highway. We did not hit any pothole or similar impact immediately prior to the issue.everything operated normally otherwise. It is my understanding that at least the passenger airbag will no longer operate. Nucar chevrolet in new castle, de was unsure as to whether both driver and passenger airbags are no longer operating or if only the passenger no longer operates. The failure occurred while driving with a passenger and the car is in otherwise fantastic mechanical condition. This means that regardless of how well i take care of my car, or how careful i am with its safety devices, if i had been involved in an accident on that particular trip my wife's airbag would not have functioned. The warning indicating that my wife's airbag was not operating did not show up until we had already been driving for 10 minutes. I immediately drove home to drop her off, but for those tense moments she was not safe.

My vehicle is involved in recall 17036 for passenger side air bag sensor malfunction.i tried to get this recall completed in 2017 but was told by gm that a fix was still being created and to wait for notification from gm when a part would be available.i waited a year and now have actively been trying to get this safety recall fixed since march of 2018. I have been to two dealerships, courtesy auto of chico, ca and bud clary gm longview washington.both dealerships have been unable to find a part to fix this safety recall.gm customer service was contacted several times since may of 2018 and still no part has been located to fix this safety recall.this vehicle without the safety recall completedis unsafe to drive, can't be sold .

Passenger seat airbag not working due to failed passenger seat sensor (pps - passenger presence system)

I am not sure if i already reported this on your site. Several years ago, roughly 2011 with vehicle mileage probably around 20,000 miles the 'airbag' warning light came on, indicating that the airbag was inoperable. The light has stayed until this whole time and now the vehicle has just under 47,000 miles on it.

Premature failure of the passenger seat airbag sensor/control module.seems to be a fairly wide-spread event that gm refuses to acknowledge in this make/model and affiliated cars (i.e. Saturn sky).

The passenger seat airbag sensor stopped working. It no longer sensing when a passenger is present in the passenger seat. This seems like a very dangerous problem since the airbag will not deploy on passenger side in a crash. It seems to be a common problem that is well documented, i believe gm should order a recall.

Every time i start my car, i'm told my air bags need to be serviced. My dealer says it's going to cost almost $900 to fix. After some doing some research online, apparently i'm not the only one with this problem. The seat sensor mechanism is apparently defective and the cost to fix it is more than exorbitant. I'm also worried about putting myself and/or my passengers at risk because i don't have confirmedly information about whether or not the air bags are defective or not.

My wife weighs 105 pounds and is 5 feet 5 inches tall, she is not heavy enough to turn on the passenger air bag. I went to royal buick dealer in tucson arizona to ask if they could make an adjustment, they said no that the bags are not armed for anyone under 100 pounds. I explained to them that she weighs 105 and they said they could not help me, i asked if they could turn it on permanently and they said they could not. So, she rides in this two passenger sports car, we are senior citizens with no small children ever riding, and she is uneasy because she does not have the protection of the passenger air bag. I think even 100 pounds is too high of a requirement, should be down to 70-80 pounds. My grand daughter rides with me also, she is 12,5 feet 6 inches and weighs 85 pounds so she has no protection from the air bag either.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. Whenever there was a passenger in the front seat, the air bag indicator failed to illuminate. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

The contact owned a 2007 pontiac solstice. While driving 30 mph, another vehicle ran a red light and crashed into the side of the contact's vehicle. The contact's vehicle spun three times and landed against a sidewalk. The tires went flat and the rims and rotors were split in two. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the shoulder and legs that required medical attention. The front passenger sustained broken ribs that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and then to a junkyard. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was not available.

Service airbag message displayed. I took it to a gm dealer and he told me the module was no good and needs to be replaced for $800.00. I believe with only 39000 miles gm should have a recall and pay for this repair.

Have replaced passenger seat sensor mat two times. Why is it that people have to die before nhtsa will react to a known problem? cadilac ats was recalled for the exact same thing, and while the mats may be slightly different, they indeed have the same problem. You have enough documentation to prove this. So i am wondering why you keep ignoring this.

Passenger air bag seat cushion sensor failed after 47,000 miles.i rarely have a passenger in that seat.

We are getting a warning that the passenger seat belt module needs servicing. I went to the local dealer and they said the module needs replaced. The vehicle has 25100 miles on it and i see on the internet there are lots of folks with the same problem.

Service airbag light came on. Dealer says the passenger presence system module has failed and is $1260 to replace. After looking at several pontiac solstice online forums, this appears to be a common failure.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that while a passenger was seated in the front passenger seat, the passenger side air bag system would not activate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the passenger presence sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the replacement passenger presence sensor needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000.updated 03/02/15*lj updated 6/15/2015

Passenger presence system issue startedsolstice in garage and backed out on to driveway (pps indicates passenger air bag off. This is correct) stop car on driveway and put transmission in park. Passenger enters vehicle sits down and buckles belt. (pps indicates passenger air bag off this is incorrect) back out of driveway and put in drive. Pps still indicates no passenger this is incorrect. Stop car put in park. Pps still indicates no passenger. Turn off ignition and restart car. Pps reads passenger in car and airbag armed this is correct. Originally noticed on july 2, 2021, repeated on july 9th. If both passengers start out in car system works correctly. If passenger enters after car is started and moved it doesn't recognize passenger presence unless ignition is recycled.recall repair was performed 11 may 2018 at 13635 miles.

My passenger airbag light came on indicating the airbag wasn't working. Diagnostic tool showed that the airbag sensor may be bad.

Service airbag message appeared on lcd display, passenger airbag will not turn on when a passenger is in the seat. Because i was concerned with my daughters safety, i paid over $900 to have this repaired.this appears to be a common issue and should result in a recall due to its directly preventing the function of a crash safety system intended to save lives.

I had my solstice air bag indicator repaired at new smyrna beach chevrolet dealer back on 9/27/2016 (see attached document, page 1).i then received a recall notice in march of 2018 for the same part.i submitted a reimbursement request and was told to take my solstice back to the dealer to verify they replaced the part in question from the recall.i did that on 5/9/2018 (see page 2 of attached document).i was told that all was in order and i would receive a reimbursement for the $832.00 that i spent on the original repair.i have yet to receive any money.can you tell me what is the hold up on getting the reimbursement?new smyrna beach chevrolet can verify all this.the advisor there was christina barry (386-427-1313).

Delivered car to dealer today for scheduled safety recall repair for faulty air bag sensor. Told by dealer that repair part is unavailable, and dealer cannot determine when the part will be available. Vehicle airbag indicator indicates fault and airbag alert is triggered. Car is functionally unusable with a passenger (it's a two-seat roadster).

I was driving back from the doctor on the highway and a girl didn't see or stop at the stop sign. I didn't have time to slow down or stop as she pulled out in front of me and i hit her broadside at 70mph. The air bags did not work properly causing the engine to almost come through to my lap. I suffered extensive injuries due to this and had to be air med'd to new orleans trauma hospital due to this. As a result i am still suffering with mental and physical injuries and the car has been totaled. I was never informed or sent any notification or information regarding the safety recalls on my vehicle, otherwise i wouldn't have driven it and would have brought my car straight to the dealership if i was notified. I believe that my injuries wouldn't be so extensive if it weren't for the safety recall issues on my car, which is now totaled. I am very upset that someone failed to do their job and inform me of how unsafe my car was. I am lucky to be alive and hope that no one else was as severely injured due to someone else's negligence. I am now without a vehicle and cannot work due to my suffering from this accident and believe that my injuries wouldn't be so severe if someone would have notified me about safety recalls that needed to be fixed on my car. Thank you very much,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

Passenger airbag sensor broken/defective. I started the car one morning and the "service air bag" came on. I took it to a mechanic, who said the seat sensor in the passenger seat is broken. He told me it was a common problem for this model, and advised me to file this complaint.

In march of this year i purchased my second pontiac. Today this vehicle displayed the same service message as my other pontiac. The service air bag light has come on and stayed on. My other pontiac has been coming on and off for months now, i can't afford the $750 it costs to replace the airbag on the first pontiac is the main reason i still have the issues, but now my second pontiac purchase is having the same error. This has to be an issue for more than just me. I do see that the air bag has already been recalled for my model but a different year. This appears to me to be more than one model issue. Thanks

2007 pontiac solstice. Consumer writes in regard to airbag safety recall notice #17v061.*as

My 2007 pontiac solstice, 4 cylinder, 2.0 engine's is under the recall for the ignition switch. My solstice and tons of other solstice ownersalong with the ignition recall...are also having problems with the warning light for the airbag safety light staying on.gm needs to add the pontiac solstice to their lists of recalls to other gm vehicles having the same exact issue.this is dangerous for passengers/driver if involved in a front of side collision and the airbags will not deploy.

Passenger air bag sensor failed. Dealership estimates replacement cost is over $800.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. The gm dealer (alpena buick gmc, 133 johnson st, alpena, mi 49707) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The contact had not experienced a failure.

2007 pontiac solstice. Submission from re safety recall notice(gm recall #14063) *tgwthe consumer stated didn't understand why, it took so look to discover the defect, relating to the ignition switch recall.

Warning indicator appeared that air bags needed to be serviced. Car was taken to dealer on 11/08/16 and a repair completed at a cost of $1,138.39. Subsequent notices from pontiac in march 2017 and may 2017 indicate that recall is in effect (ntsa 17v061) but parts are being engineered. Prior repairs are considered temporary and will be reimbursed when permanent parts available. As of 9/5/17 the parts are not available and they state they will optimistically be available before may 2018.

Nhtsa #17v061 in august 2018 the part failed. I took the car to gm for repair in early august 2018. No parts are available and contacted gm directly with same results. Waiting with no response regarding when part will be available. So we have no airbag for an adult passenger with no projected resolution.

Passenger air bag sensor is unable to detect presence of a passenger. Air bag warning light now remains on at all times. I have been reading about this issue, especially since gm has recalled other vehicles for air bag safety. Also, i have noticed and heard several other pontiac solstice and saturn sky owners having this issue. Gm is charging me $1,000 for parts and labor. I am filing this complaint in an attempt to raise this issue since it involves safety of passengers and driver in the car.

For years, the pontiac solstice air bag system has intermittently failed to detect passengers. Now the "passenger airbag off" light stays illuminated, and the airbag dash warning light also stays on. A gm service center reports the passenger airbag module needs to be replaced, at a cost in excess of $900.

Airbag light on following recall 17036 of installment passenger presence sensor reinforcement.

Had the vehicle since 2007. Seldom carried a passenger. Started carrying a passenger on a regular bases summer 2015. Eleven months later the airbag light came on. Didn't bother to fix it because they wanted over $800. My car just failed the virginia state inspection on 1/16/2017 because of the airbag light. Now i'm forced to get this fixed. Searched online for a solution and discovered that the pontiac solstice and the saturn sky have a high failure rate for the small amount of cars that were even manufactured. The issue is with my passenger sensor which does not register if someone is sitting in the seat. Everyone seems sure that the passenger airbag will not deploy when the airbag light is lit but nobody could verify if the driver's airbag is also disabled because of this issue.

I had a passenger sit in my pontiac solstice and the air bag sensor started flashing on and off.the suddenly it stayed on and gave me a warning light.this is very dangerous because now all my passengers do not have a functioning air bag.i have seen countless owners on the solstice forums also have the same issue.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the air bag warning light and the service air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The contact also mentioned that he had researched the problem and found out that the passenger's side air bag senor was causing the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 42,481 updated 11/12/13*lj

The passenger presence module located in passenger seat failed. This causes the passenger air bag to be turned off. Failure was at 17000 miles. Gm replaced the module under the gm goodwill program. No cost to me.the replacement module has failed after only 13000 miles. This time gm says there is nothing they can do to cover replacement of the failed part. Replacement cost for parts and labor is 700.00

Airbag seat sensor fails to activate airbag and airbag warning light remains on indefinitely whether passenger is in passenger seat or not. Replacement cost nearly $900.

Passenger air bag has failed, this is a serious safety issue and obviously has multiple complaints against gm. I never seen an airbag sensor fail especially with so few miles.

Vehical was taken to the dealership on 05/13/2016 due to indicator lights thatstated the passenger air bag was not functioning.the vehical has been maticulously maintained and only had 31,911 miles effective 05/13/2016."dealer scan and analysis found that the dtc 1063 diaged per si as an internally shorted ppm".basically, this was a permanent failure of the ppm manufactured by iee in luxembourg, germany.the only repair option was to replace with a new seat cushion containing an integrated ppm.this was at a proposed cost of$818.35 including all taxes, since the vehical was no longer covered by waranty. There is enough documentation in various data bases, including a recent request to nhtsa to consider this a safety recall issue.mr. Troy lyman's requestdocuments significant failures in the pontiac soltice and saturn sky vehicals, and provides a compelling rational for nhtsa to initiate an investigation.the failure was first noticed approximately 2 weeks before taking it into the dealer.i waw taking the car to the car wash, and when i started the car before leaving the garage, a warning message appeared on my dash cluster.it could be reset; however, would appear again each time the car was started.i did some research for this failure prior to taking in to the dealer.when i agreed to have the dealer fix the failure, i also requested that he provide me with the failed part.i subsequently took the failed seat cushion apart to see if i could see any breaks in the ppm that would cause a short.i could see nothing as apparent as i had seen in the online research regarding this issue.my opinion is that something is definitely inferior with the ppm that is causing this failure.i will attach some pictures of the failed seat cushion ppm.i would also provide the actual failed product upon your request.

The passenger air bag sensor failed, this leaves the passenger unprotected in the event of an accident.this is the second time this has happened on my car.the first was on 5/18/2009 at 15501 miles and was replaced under warrantywell this time the warranty has expired and it is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($500 - $800), by viewing the solstice forum on-lineit is apparent that this is a common problem and as a safety issue needs to be addressed by your agency.the web site is: http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/f12/dic-service-air-bag-familiar-anyone-69046/please investigate this issue and require gm to replace all defective units.thank you

The air bag / seatbelt warning light came on for the passenger side, my wife was in the seat and weighs more than 100lb. I'm told this disables the airbag, which is clearly a safety issue. Repairs are very expensive and with only 26000 miles on this car should be covered by gm.it was repaired on 9/3/15 and cost $1130.21

Passenger airbag sensor indicates that it is "off" even when a passenger is present. Red airbag warning light is displayed on dash. After much research, there is an issue with the airbag sensor going out. This is apparently a costly repair that should not be on the shoulders of the owner! gm needs to issue a recall for the repair of this safety feature since it is so prevalent among solstice owners. Is our safety not important?...

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled as the check engine and battery warning lights illuminated.the vehicle was able to be restarted and the failure was recurring.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they were unable to diagnose the vehicle.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 40,000. Updated 04/29/14 mathe consumer stated the key would not turn in the ignition until after wiggling the steering wheel. The airbag light was on. Updated 05/2/2014

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated the air bags light remained illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnosed which located the failure at the air bags sensor. The dealer replaced the air bag sensor, the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer took a report 71-977-959082 , but did not offer to assist with the cost of the repair.the failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage was 14,000.

Passenger air bag service is on their is a recall on this junk but general motors wont fix it ! this is very dangerous and needs fixed bad can you please help get them to fix their night mare of death mobile ! the car only has 35000 miles its been screwed up to long scared to have passenger in it no air bag and arent they libel if knowing its defective and wont fix it ! thanks please help

I just had my ignition changed under the gm/pontiac recall, and we were driving the car down the highway.my check airbag sensor started flashing on and off intermittently and so did my passenger airbag off light came on each time the check sensor light came on.i did have a passenger in the right passenger seat.the next day i drove the car and the check airbag sensor was on steady.i took my car to my local gm dealer and they stated i had a passenger side airbag sensor failure.the cost with parts and labor was estimated at just under $800.00.i did check this sensor failure online and there are a lot of complaints regarding this and i believe this should be recalled and repaired by gm.

While parked and idling, my 110 pd. Wife sat in the passenger seat and the "service airbag" indicator message came on the message center and the "airbag warning" light is now on the dashboard "passenger airbag off" light is lit.based on research on this site and a local gm dealer, this is a universal problem with the "ppm" module in the seat.because of the failure of this part, the passenger is not protected in the event of a crash.my vehicle has less than 28,000 miles on it.

I took my solstice to hiester chevrolet in lillington, nc for nhtsa recall number17v061 and was told there was nothing they could do.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that the air bags warning light illuminated. The contact was concerned for his safety that the air bags may deploy independent of a crash. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to sheehan buick gmc (2800 n federal hwy, lighthouse point, fl 33064), but the parts for the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer informed the contact that the part was not available for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The bag in this car was already worked on for a recall that i believe involved a switch.now it appears that the car is no longer sensing the passenger.no matter that well over 100 pounds is in the passenger seat, the passenger air bag remains off.

Dashboard says"service air bag". Had it diagnosed. Dealer says sensor of airbag needs to be replaced cost 1100

Passenger side air bag sensor came on indicating air bag(s) are not operable-

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the passenger side air bag light illuminated while the passenger was in the seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the seat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 8,000.

Recall 17036 - i need to get my car inspected how do i do this with the ppalight on in my car.i received a letter from gm stating that parts for the interim repair are now available to repair your vehicle.i took the car & to my pontiac dealership but all they would say is there is not part available.please let me know what i need to do to get this taken care of, like i said i need to get my car inspected.

The passensger seat air bag sensor stopped working at 32000 miles.

Passenger airbag sensor failed with passenger in vehicle disabling airbag system

The passenger sensor in my pontiac solstice went out on august 12th while there was a passenger in my vehicle.this has caused the passenger airbag system to longer function.it is a very costly and dangerous problem that seems to be happening to many solstice owners.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that there were multiple stalling failures with the vehicle. The dealer was unable to diagnose the stalling failure and the vehicle was not repaired.the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the failure but to no avail. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 200.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated that the passenger side air bag light failed to illuminate when a passenger seat was occupied. The contact also stated the service air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

The passenger seat air bag occupant sensor has failed, disabling the air bag system. This is a common problem to this car, and a serious safety issue for ourselves and any passengers. We request an investigation and recall to repair this known safetyissue.i believe reviewing the gm records for the number of units sold as replacements will reinforce my complaint.

Passenger activated instrument panel icon "service passenger seat air bag." took vehicle to dealer and they replaced the passenger seat module #1924219 for $362.47 (our half) gm picked up the other half. Again on 5/27/2015, 33,612 miles same condition occurred. Took the vehicle back to the dealer and this time the same module costs us $1,02 9.21. Gm feels not their problem? this is my wife's vehicle and rarely is a passenger in the seat! the dealer cannot tell us if the airbag will deploy when the light is on? can you tell us if gm has a defective module problem?

Airbag light came on.service air bag on the display.contacted gm b0081 code.$900 to repair.

This is a serious issue that's needs to be addressed, so many of the solstice's and sky's are being affected by this. I for one don't want to have any of my passengers killed in a wreck because of the air bag. The passenger air bag sensor is over $800 to fix, this makes it hard on low income drivers to fix the issue, when it should be a gm recall in the first place.

1-"service air bag" light stays on, probaly meaning the airbag system is disabled.2-no one seems to know how to fix the problem.

Passenger air bag sensor located in the seat cushion failure !! please help us !! there are alot of failures !!! car was in motion. My car is now worth a $1'000 dollars and not safe to drive !!!

Takata recall.the airbag service maintenance lightturned on two different times& serviced the last 3 years costing me a lot of money.

Air bag light came on while driving the vehicle. I took the vehicle to have the vehicle scanned to see what the problem was.it was determined that the pps module needs to be replaced. I decided not to do the repair because it was going to be over $800. I am quite upset because the vehicle at the time only had 38,000 miles on it, but was out of warranty ( being over 36 months).why would a vehicle with only 38,000 miles on it have a faulty airbag module?

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated the service air bag warning light began to illuminate. The air bag light came on due to a malfunction in the passenger seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated they had to replace the indicators for the air bags at the owners expense of $600-$1000. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000. Updated 11/10/11 the consumer stated there was a defect in the sending unit in the seat.it was investigated and the part was replaced.the consumer was responsible for the labor which was $200. Nhtsa campaign number:17v061the vehicle exhibited the fault and was taken to the dealership for repairs on april 14, 2018. Due to virginia state law and inspections the car is unable to be driven on the street until repaired.as of today after 90+ days, the vehicle has still not been repaired or remedied in violation of 49 u.s. Code30120. At no point have i been given a loaner vehicle, an estimated time of repair, or even when the part will be available, despite numerous trouble tickets with the dealer, gm, and pontiac.

The manufacturer stated that there was a temporary remedy and transferred the contact to the dealer. The dealer stated that the contact would have to pay for the remedy and later be reimbursed. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator was illuminated. The manufacturer provided case number: 82945804627. The failure mileage was unknown. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Air bag light come on while driving down the road a few years ago.it was determined to be the passenger presence detection sensor bad.i decided not to do the repair because it was going to be over $800.today, i stumbled across quite a few forum posts with other people having same problem in their pontiac solstice and saturn skys.there was even a media coverage about it in tn.http://www.kctv5.com/story/24037545/devices-triggering-passenger-air-bags-repeatedly-recalled?autostart=true&topvideocatno=default&clipid=9559298i believe there should be a recall.gm has recalled other makes and models for the same issue, but because the solstice and sky are low production they do not make it on their radar for researching if the recall should be made. I'm sure there are many others like me who have been living with it because the cost is too high to repair.

The airbag seat sensor has failed and rendered the passanger side airbag non-working. The repair is in the range of $1,000, so i have no choice but to drive without an airbag.

My pontiac solstice - like 1000s of others - recently experienced the passenger airbag failure.this failure is a 'known deficiency' that gm has yet to recognize and address.this failure prevents the passenger (and maybe even the driver-side) airbag from deploying placing the passengers at great risk!the failure tends to occur after the warranted period is over thus costing the owner $1000 to replace.many owners cannot afford such a cost and so do not get the part replaced - placing the passengers at risk!this is a known problem and an obvious safety issue.i would submit given the prevalence of this issue that it is a larger safety issue than the ignition switch recall which was really caused by the few owners who carried the weight of a bowling ball on their key chain.it's about time this 'safety organization' brought this to the attention of gm and gm corrected this deficiency as part of a recall!the takata recall is being completed on millions of vehicles due to the possibility of an airbag deployment hurting/killing the passenger.here - with this solstice issue - the airbag won't deploy at all.isn't that even worse?

There is a known issue with the passenger seat airbag sensor. My car only has 73,000 miles on it, and the passenger seat is seldom used. The sensor failed and now the passenger air bag is inoperative. A 20 pound laptop bag was all that was on the seat when this failure occurred. I can no longer carry a passenger in my car.

The light is on about my safety air bag not working at all.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice . The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number 14v047000 (air bags , electrical system)and stated that the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. The dealer was unable to provide an expected date for when the remedy part would become available. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The contact had not experienced a failure.

I have received two notices about recall number gm 17036. My wife and i took a trip this past weekend in the car and i noticed the vhicle's passenger side airbag telltale light indicating the airbag was off while my wife was seated in the passenger seat. On monday 06/19/2017 i called wilkinson gm in sanford to make an appointment. I was scheduled for friday 06/23/2017 at 1:00 pm. I took the car in and described the problem. After about an hour i was told they could not do anything as there was no stored code and they could not reproduce the problem. And i will need to wait until gm has a permanent solution. I questioned what they would do if the problem was found and was told they would replace the pressure switch under seat but they were not willing to until they were able to see telltale light for airbag go off. The telltale indicating light went off while we were driving, in marion on secondary roads and highway roads. To my knowledge the dealer mechanic only tried to reproduce symptoms in the garage sitting still.

This is on a 2007 pontiac solstice base model, currently with 49,801 miles. This vehicle was not involved in any accidents. The red indicator light for the air bag just came on last week and a message to "service air bag" also came on the dash panel. At the time, there was a driver and passenger in the car. In addition, the passenger air bag indicator light now, always shows "off", even when an adult passenger is sitting in the seat. This has always worked properly in the past, i.e. Showing an "on" light when a passenger was seated. This indicates that when a passenger is in the vehicle, there is no working air bag in the event of an accident. This violates the mandated vehicle safety requirements. Based on the many documented complaints i've read, this is a clear defect from the manufacturer.

Letter from senator baldwin on behalf of constituent re 2007 pontiac soltice recall #17v-06, unavailable parts from gm. *ld

Service air bag light came onhad it checked and was told that it is a faulty pps systemi have had no wrecks and think this should be fixed by the dealer without charge as there is no reason for faulty airbag.

Air bag service light keeps coming on.this occurs at random times, not just went starting the car.wanting to know if other pontiac solstices are having the same problem and if this will be part of the air bag recall.

2007 pontiac solstice.consumer writes in regards to a defective module or sensor in the passenger seat and side airbags.the consumer stated the air bag may not deploy in the even of a collision. The defect was confirmed when diagnosed by a local gm dealer.

Our vehicle in motion turning left from turn lane with green arrow when we were hit by driver who ran red light. Our car sustained substantial front end damage (totalled) but neither the driver nor passenger airbag deployed.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated the air bag light began illuminating on the instrument panel upon starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the air bag module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 15,500 and the current mileage was 17,307.

2007 pontiac solstice with just over 20,000 miles on it, this should not happen. I am member of pontiac forum, i know others have same problem and you have their info. This is a huge safety concern. Passenger air bag on light does not come on, stays off with passenger. , service air bag message on dic..

An alert on the dash to service air bag came on.apparently a switch went causing the passenger side air bag to fail to activate properly.this light was when stationary and when driving.the repair was over $700 at parks chevrolet in charlotte, nc.

Takata recall. I spent just under a $970.44 repairing the passengersafety belt on my 2007 pontiac solstice will i ever get reimbursed or not its going on a year and a half now.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received recall notifications for nhtsa campaign number: 14v171000 (electrical system) and nhtsa campaign number: 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system). The contact stated that the parts needed were unavailable to perform the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Air bag sensor:there are hundreds of solstice owners such as my self, driving with the seat belt sensor light illuminated. There is a problem with the seat sensor and dealers want up to $1,500 to replace the seat sensor. This is a known problem and a safety issue that gm should handle thru a voluntary recall. It is a problem known world-wide regarding this issue.

The passenger (service) airbag light has come on and remains on at all times. The light which says that the passenger airbag has been armed no longer illuminates. From the research i have done, it is a problem with the airbag sensor which must be replaced. The part is very expensive and breaks easily. I am worried that not only is there a chance that the passenger airbag may not deploy during an accident but that if i do get the part replaced, it will soon break again. This is a very common problem and i believe this is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed right away! there have been too many complaints about this part, which systematically goes out on every car, for this issue to be ignored!

I have an airbag light that came on and the passenger air bag is always off. Took it to dealership. Cost for fix is over $1000. There is a recall for this passenger air bag system, however, contacting pontiac customer service, they say that my particular car is not under the recall. They sent me a coupon for $100.

I have a 2007 solstice. 56,000 miles. Service airbag message and warning light are on.it first appeared on a very hot day and soon went off for about 5 minutes and then came back on.i began researching the problem only to find out that there are thousands of people experiencing the same problem.i hope no one dies riding with me.

Passenger sat down air bag light came on . Vehicle was in park in a parking lot .dealer said $800.to repair, now air bags will not deploy.

Passenger airbag sensor stopped working. I had noticed the light/sensor not coming on twice before when i had a passenger in the seat and it should have engaged the airbag sensors. No incidents, no trauma to the car nothing. It just stopped. Now it never comes on and there is a warning message on the dash hud. I've read a lot of similar problems and malfunctions with passenger airbags on other solstices and saturn sky cars so i know this isn't an isolated event. Currently at 65k miles and a mechanic mentioned to me that this problem might also cause my driver airbag not to deploy. I'm the only one who rides in my car so this didn't affect me until i heard this.

The occupant module sensor (gm part #19124219) located in the passenger seat failed after only 52,000 miles. This module, when faulty, cuts off the passenger airbag restraint system.this is a safety issue.in the lifetime of ownership i only had a passenger in the seat approx 20% of the time so wear is not the issue.on further checking of the 40+ solstice owners i know, most have the problem.the replacement cost for parts labor and recalibration is between $500 to $800. Most owners ignore it and the fact that half the airbags will not deploy in a crash because of cost. Gm is aware of the problem part but apparently does not see it as a safety issue. A one time reprogramming to a "always on" state would be a cheap acceptable fix.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,400.

My instrument panel is reading service passenger airbag is affecting me to be able to see my odometer reading, i have two pontiac solstice cars and they both have the same problem. I havefriends with the same vehicle and they are getting the same reading on their cars,i don't know if the airbag is just going to go off on its own one day or not go off in an accident, this should be a recall issue.

I took our solstice to a gm dealer in alcoa, tn on july 28, 2014 for the ignition cylinder recall. The ignition cylinder was replaced by the dealer. While driving home i noticed the dealer had move the steering wheel to the maximum tilt up position. When i moved the steering wheel to a middle tilt position the service airbag warning light activated. No one was in the passengers seat at this time. This warning had never been activated before. I returned the vehicle to the same dealer on august 7, 2014 and was informed that there was an open circuit in the passenger presence air bag circuit. The module was replaced at a cost to me of $852.29.

After further research and review, the passenger airbag sensor in the seat cushion has failed due to horrible design. Many others have filed a complaint and have had no recall. Please help as we as owners have to continue paying for this issue, some even more than once.

Passenger airbag sensor went bad. Leaves airbag disabled whether or not there is a passenger in the seat. Could be very dangerous and gm refuses to acknowledge responsibility for this very common problem.

After starting my 2007 solstice, the passenger air bag light did not come on, even though my wife was sitting in the passenger seat. This is a car that only had 21,139 miles on it, at the time of the first incident. Also, there air bag warning light is illuminated on the dash. I feel that such a safety item should not fail after only 21,139 miles...updated 12/17/13

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the air bag on/off indicator illuminated despite passengers occupying the passenger seat or not. The approximate failure mileage was 108,508. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and informed the contact that there was a temporary repair through a service bulletin and the contact would be charged for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The air bag /seatbelt warning light came on for the passenger side, my wife was in the seat and weighs more than 100lb. I'm told this disables the airbag, which is clearly a safety issue. Repairs are very expensive and with only 26xxx miles on this car should be covered by gm.

The sensor that tells if the seat is occupied has malfunctioned causing the airbag light to remain on and impair the operation of the airbag system.

Passenger seat cushion airbag sensor module or pps is defective and does not arm the passenger airbag with an adult in the passenger seat. Dealer estimate is $1000 to replace the seat cushion.this seems to be an issue with most if not eventually all pontiac solstices. This sub standard critical life safety part should be recalled and replaced.

The 'serviceairbag' light began to appear at different times for short periods.i the gm dealer said that their diagnostic tests could not identify the problem and would require that the service light be on continuously. July of 2015 the light did stay on and the dealership said that the passenger side 'module' had shorted. A replacement would cost approximately $450.

Service air bag error light came on. After reading some threads in forums, i saw that a lot of owners of this model were having the same problem. To replace the "sdm module" will cost over $500, so my car will be without and air bag on the passenger side.

The air bag sensor in my vehicle failed shortly (2 mos) after its 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty expired. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. It is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($500 - $800), and that the failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle brand.

Passenger side airbag sensor in seat failed.70k miles.

My vehicle has an active recall for the pps system which if it does not operate correctly could cause the air bag to not activate leading to serious injury or death. I have contacted the dealer and gm directly on this since april 2018. The dealer tells me gm keeps canceling the parts on order for the repair and gm tells me the dealer is all set to make the repairs but the two can never agree. This week i contacted gm again and was told the case was closed because they couldnot contact me which is incorrect as they have my phone and email. They keep telling me they are elevating the case to a senior manager but noone calls me. The dealer does not return my calls. The case number is [xxx]. I have continued to call both gm and the dealer every few weeks since april but i am unable to have the vehicle scheduled for the repair. The recall is 17036. Passenger presence system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall.approaching nine months and no resolution.unacceptable!

The passenger air bag has not been working for some time now. I took it to gm dealer and they could not give me a reason why the air bag is not working. Gm said they could replace the part but it was not under warranty. Im trying to understand how many accidents need to occur before there is a recall for this issue.

2007 pontiac solstice.consumer writes in regards to vehicle air bag light and passenger seat issues.consumer has another vehicle complaint in artemis.the consumer stated the passenger air bag light would not come on, when the seat was occupied. The dealer recommended the consumer have the air bag system replaced. On august 15, 2013, the consumer took the vehicle to another vehicle, where the passenger presence module was replaced. After the dealer, brought the vehicle from the service bay, the consumer had a passenger sit in the vehicle, and the air bag light would not come on. They had a gm representative weighing 145 pounds sit in the seat and it would come on periodically. But, one had to manipulate the key to have it come on. The dealer suggested the cushion be replaced.

Heater blower motor wiring harness is melted and gm knows about these fire hazard's that threaten the lives of occupants. My17 yr old daughter babysits our 13 month old nephew. It's at integrity gm of chattanooga. They refuse to service the switch recall and want me to pay$350 wiring problem. Help please.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the module for the air bag to the passenger seat needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was 7,700 and the current mileage was 30,300.

Service passenger air bag lit up on display in dashat the same time passenger air bag light on dash went off and did not come back oni had dealer check this as the passenger air bag was now inoperativeas i did not want my wife riding in this seat without it working properly.he informed me a sensor underneath the passenger seat was responsible for this failure.this seems to be a widespread problem as i have checked with several solstice owners who have experienced same problemssome with as low as 2300 miles on their vehiclesthank you for your time.

The sensor in the passenger seat that detects a passenger and activates the air bag system for the passenger seat is broken. Now, whenever there is a passenger, the air bag for the passenger side shows as off.my vehicle is an '07, but has only 50,000 miles. The sensor appears to be very thin and flimsy. With this item broken, in the event of an accident, the air bag would not deploy even though there is a passenger in the seat. This is a design flaw and is very dangerous. A similar recall was made on this item for the cadillac line.thank you

My passenger airbag sensor system stopped working without any cause resulting in a "service airbag" warning on the dic in the dash.searching forums for all varieties of the gm kappa platform (saturn sky, opel gt, and pontiac solstice) it appears this failure is happening to every single vehicle made with this system and is not caused by usual wear, or any sort of mistreatment of the device or the car - it is a clear manufacturing defect.gm holds your car hostage for $1000 to fix this problem when the part can be obtained from europe for $99 - disgusting.in my case, the car sat in the garage over the winter, and upon getting in the car this spring to start it, the warning light came on, the last time the car was driven the light was not on, and no-one has touched the passenger seat since, so the problem was not caused by abuse or wear it is simply a defective part that fails for no reason after some period of time.

Service air bag light text appeared in dic on with child in seat after starting car. Now passenger air bag off lamp on with adult seat belted in seat.

Add my complaint to the seat belt light list.gm hiding it's head in the sand again.in august of 2014, my daughter had her ignition switch replaced per the recall notice on her 2007 pontiac solstice.a few weeks later, the red air bag light went on along with malfunctioning of the passenger air bag status indicator light. Mileage 61,000. The yellow warning light will not come on when a person sits in the passenger seat!the red airbag readiness light on the instrument panel cluster is on all the time along with the service air bag display on the dic. Gm fixed one air bag issue and now another one has surfaced.in reviewing the many articles on the web, there have been numerous complaints to nhtsa about on the airbag hazard on all 06 thru 10 pontiac solstices, saturn sky and various other gm vehicles. Theproblems with the passenger seat renders it unsafe and may result in serious injury or death in a crash. This problem was reported to gm, they diagnosed same, said it was not related to the ignition switch recall and reported code 1063 - passenger pressure sensor defective.replacement cost approximately $900.00.this defect will not allow the airbag to operate if involved in an accident.the cost to replace this sensor is prohibitive and should not fail. The sensor was manufactured in luxembourg, germany (manufacture unknown #br53008361171m8h).this is an inspection issue in some states and where there is no inspection, many people are just driving around with the light on not knowing their bags are inoperative.the defective seat module renders the passenger seat unsafe as the airbag will not deploy which could result in serious injury or death in a crash.please review the complaints declare it recall. Thank you

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags) as well as a second notice stating that interim repair parts were available however, the part to do the repair was unavailable.the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.the contact spoke to a dealer who stated that parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that neither interim nor final repair parts were available. The contact had experienced with the air bag warning light illuminating after starting the vehicle. In addition, there was a chime coming from the vehicle.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000. Vin tool confirmed parts not available.

The passenger side airbag is not functional as evidenced by a warning light.it is understood that this is a known issue. The value of the vehiclehas been impacted. Unable to sell car due to concern by buyers.

Passenger side air bag warning light came on indicating a defect in the passenger side air bag.

Service air bag warning light began to illuminate.checked manual and manual stated to see local dealer immediately.immediately means to me that this is a major safety concern.took to authorized pontiac dealer.they diagnosed the following: service air bag light is on scanned code b0081 code stored current check out performed diagnosis and pps system has no data pps has current codes 2036-1063 indicating failed pps module.$575.92 ptl to replace and program replaced pps system all in one assy with cushion wiring module, etc. Recalibrate system clear codes and recheck operation ok.so bottom line, like several other identical complaints filed the passenger side air bag sensor went bad.inquired with authorized dealer if pontiac would stand behind what is an apparent numerous owners of this type of vehicle make and year occurrence with the vehicle. Provided the complaints listed on this site.authorized dealer simply told me the car was no longer under warranty and that nothing could be done.how many more 2007 pontiac solstice's with low mileage have to report this problem before a recall is obvious?this is not just a squeaky rattle this is safety.these cars are equipped with air bags for a reason.they are small compact two seaters.without a properly working air bag it could be fatal for passenger in a collision.because of the small size of the car it would not take a substantial collision for safety to be a an issue.will it require someone being permanently injured or losing their life before a recall is required?i don't even know cars and i can read the posts on this site and know 2 + 2 does equal a manufacturer defect in the airbag system of these vehicles.please initiate and make pontiac do the right thing for their customers safety!

Vehicle shows "service air bag" after 42000 miles, 80% of which without a passenger.passenger airbag off, while passenger in car. Never comes on. Will not pass inspection. Dealer says it is the passenger presence system, will not cover it, $1000+ repair.

This light has come on indicating no air bags. The vehicle was parked. I've taken it into the dealer for the recall on ignition switch and replacement keys. They charged me for the diagnosis of a defective passenger present sensor. The part will need to be ordered at a cost of $761 plus labor. My wife does not feel safe riding in the car now. Every solstice on the forum board reports this same problem.

The air bag sensor in my vehicle failed after its 'bumper-to-bumper' warranty expired. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. It is my understanding that the owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($800 to $1,000), and that the early failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag warning light erroneously illuminated while a passenger was present in the seat. The warning light remained illuminated.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000. Updated 12/26/13the consumer stated the air bag light on the instrument cluster stayed on. The passenger side air bag readiness light on the dash indicated an off status constantly, regardless of the presence of a passenger.

I placed a grocery bag on front seat, thered air baglight came on, now its glowing all the time. Dealer wants 600 to repair this . Now my passenger air bag will not deploy in a accident.

The passenger occupancy sensor failed at about 47,000 miles.

While driving out of town on july 4, 2014, the airbag light for passenger went from on to off (there was a passenger in the seat) and a service airbag warning light came on. Called dealer to check on this, already had an appointment scheduled for july 9th to replace ignition switch (recall). Were told that the two incidents were not related.received a phone call from the service department (at dealer) on july 9, 2014 that there was a faulty module for airbag system and would cost $750.00 to replace. There appear to be many complaints regarding this airbag issue. I don't feel we should have to pay for this safety issue but don't feel like there is any choice!

Takata recall: air bag light came on and the dealer put in a temp fix and the light is off, but they told me a new fix is coming from gm.i drive by myself 90% of the time because i am afraid to let anyone ride in the passenger seat because they could be injured.

This is the second time i got the code b0081 and need the sensor replaced. It is on at all times

The indicator screen on the dash board is reading service airbag required.there is also a message reading passenger airbag off. Vehicle was parked in driveway when messages appeared.

In 2015 i had my oil changed at the local gm dealer, and the check airbag light was on in my dash when i picked up my car. The service manager said he would "look into" this and call me back at ph [xxx]. I had to later call. The air bag sensor in my vehicle failed within a month after the gm bumper-to-bumper warranty expired. My local gm dealer tells me this is very common for this vehicle, even though i told them prior to the expiration, trying to get get a service appointment. Then they told me they would not honor as time expired. Now as they want almost a thousand dollars, my passenger is in dire risk of the eminent danger of an injury if an accident occurs, and i am in a position of risk. I was informed gm knew of the airbag failures that were occurring on 2007 gm models.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated that the passenger air bag warning light was illuminated.also, the contact stated that when a passenger occupied the seat, the air bag would deactivate.the failure recurred multiple times.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. Takata recall. The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 17v061000 (air bags). The dealer was contacted to schedule the recall repair months ago. The remedy and parts for the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently while the contact was waiting for the parts. The manufacturer indicated that the interim repair was only for the vehicles where the air bag indicator did not illuminate. The contact was informed to wait for the remedy and parts to become available. The failure mileage was not available. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Had message service air bag come on . System showed passenger air bag off. Took vehicle to gm dealer. Inspection showed a defective passenger presence sensor, compromising both air bags. This would require a 800.00 repair.

Passenger seat sensor for airbags failed intermittently, now it's completely broken.this is a common problem for pontiac solstice and saturn sky owners (according to the forums). But given the low number of vehicles produced by gm, it doesn't seem to be getting recall status...

Passengerair bag module was replaced and re programed 08/20/2016 due to malfunction of existing air bag module.

Air bag service light came on at 39000 miles, found on internet what the problem was, called dealership in alvin tx and asked about recall, told no recall and i said "this is a safety item that needs a recall", was told by service writer that "air bags are not a safety item, only reason they are put in a car is because of being mandatory by government, and as long as passenger has seat belt on then everything should be fine", who are these fools that general motors hire? do they really believe this s*&%?or is it a way to get people from pushing for repairs? anyways, i want to sell this vehicle but who would buy a vehicle for a reasonable price for a death trap, well, i will never purchase another vehicle that gm builds, they wont stand by their products or for the customers that have made them soooo much money over the years, and with our taxes that bailed them out and paid to keep them with jobs they just keep screwing the customers over, when will everyone wise up and just shut them down with the quality that they hand out, well, for now on i am going to do my part.

Service air bag light came on . After dealer quoted a price of $1080.14 a found out on solsticeform.com that this is a common safety issue with this car and several other gm vehicles. Several owners have reported more then one failure.

The passenger (service) airbag light has come on and remains on at all times.the light which says that the passenger airbag has been armed no longer illuminates.from the research i have done, it is a problem with the airbag sensor which must be replaced.the part is very expensive and breaks easily.i am worried that not only is there a chance that the passenger airbag may not deploy during an accident but that if i do get the part replaced, it will soon break again.this is a very common problem and i believe this is a major safety concern that needs to be addressed right away!there have been too many complaints about this part, which systematically goes out on every car, for this issue to be ignored!

The passenger presence air bag control module in my vehicle failed at just over 11k miles. Any passenger in the car faces added risk if an accident were to occur. The owner's cost to fix this item is prohibitive ($500 - $800), and that the early failure of this part is somewhat common for this vehicle.

Passenger presence sensor has been repaired (not replaced) under previous nhtsa recall. However the sensor still does not always function properly and the passenger airbag light indicates "off" when a passenger is in the seat. There are no further airbag warning lights. This can occur at any time the vehicle is in use.

Service air bag warning information light cam on. Brought to gm dealer said to be pas, seat sensor was bad out of warranty and to repair at a cost of 800.00 dollars i think this safety item should be gms concern.

Service air bag light has come on and will not go off. Can't recall if the light came on during motion or not.

Own a 2007 pontiac solstice gxp.for some time the passenger side airbag indicator light has failed to change when an adult sits in passenger seat, since approx 15,000 kms. Now the display panel reads "service airbags", since approx 55,000 kms. I took it into gm, who advised that i need a sdm module. I am extremely surprised. This is an abnormal serious safety issue, through research, appears to be a common class issue with the solstice, this begs for gm to lean fwd with voluntary recall before lives are lost as a result, or before it grows to an extent akin to what toyota recently experienced with lack of fwd thinking & proactive due diligence.

Service air bag due to faulty passenger system. Recall issued 7 months ago with no resolution yet. Air bag will not deploy for passenger in crash. Recall 17v-061 issued with no resolution.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated that when anything would touch the key while in the ignition, it would cause the vehicle to stall sporadically and without warning. The failure was recurring. Additionally, the air bag warning light illuminated without warning. The contact had to disable the air bag sensor more than once to get the sensor light to turn off.the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred before the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 14v047000 (air bags and electrical system), in which the vehicle was included. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

Passenger airbag is off when passenger in seat. Not sensing passenger.

Recall 17036passanger airbag telltale indicates that the airbag is off while an adult is in the front seat

My car does not recognize that there is a person sitting in the passenger seat so it shows the airbag as being "off" because the pressure sensor in the seat is bad

07 - gxp currently 46k miles.i turn my car on one day after cleaning it at home and i am greeted with a message on my display saying service air bag and four rapid audible chimes. That passenger seat never had anyone more than the weight of an average human on it.this is a safety concern for any passenger in my vehicle yet i am forced to deal with it unless i fork over close to $1000 at the dealer.other vehicle makes have been rewarded a recall for similar issues, but not for pontiac/saturn!!!come on!it's not our fault they phased out.i am afraid to have a passenger in my car in fear of their safety.i used to love having a passenger with me with the top down enjoying life and the fun of this car - as it was built for. Fix this mess please....for all of us solstice/sky owners and future owners.thank you!

Backing out of my garage, the service air bag light came on for the passenger air bag..the passenger air bag light stays on showing this air bag is not working.i feel like this is a safety issue with passenger air bag not working,i called on star and they gave me a code b0081 saying i should a take to dealer. I called pontiac andthey told me unless there is a recall, the cost to repair is on me.looks like many other owners on 2007 pontiac solstice are having the same problem.i purchased this car new,it stays in the garage, not driven muchand very seldom anyone in passenger seat.

The pps is throwing service air bag system on dash and its not arming its self > the car dont even have 40 thousand miles , my understandingtheir is a recall on this junk but general motors said the when i called they say no open recalls ! what he heck ? this is very dangerous for the passenger and lilable for me< ins co< and general motors

Service air bag warning came on dic. Researched several pontiac solstice, as well as saturn sky and opel gt, forums that address the passenger presence system module, gm p/n 19124219, as the common failure. This is an extremely expensive repair for a well documented high failure rate safety part.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact received a recall notice in december of 2007 regarding the power train:axle assembly:axle shaft:seal.in february of 2008, she went to the dealer and had the vehicle repaired.in march of 2008, while driving 58 mph in wet conditions, the wheels suddenly locked.the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a concrete wall.the air bags failed to deploy.a police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and she believed that the recall was repaired improperly.the powertrain and recall number were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 40,000.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.the contact stated that the ocs in the front passenger seat misclassified a 125 lbs. Updated 05/26/09updated 05/28/09.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact noticed that the front passenger seat belt sensor was not working. She called the dealer and she was advised that the seat belt sensor was working properly. On a later date, the air bag warning light was illuminated and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure where a diagnostic was performed and the failure was located at the seat sensor or the console sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 26,669.

Passenger presence sensor faulty.

2007 pontiac solstice passneger seat airbag light is intermittant with passenger sitting in sit.

The passenger air bag system fails to engage occasionally when a passenger is in the seat.my wife weighs 115 lbs, 5ft 2 in and on numerous occasions the system has not engaged.the car has been taken back to the dealership twice and they have been shown the system was off with a passenger in the seat.third time is coming this week as it still isn't working all the time.each time they have reloaded the computer system and it works for a while.

The blower fan did not come on when i tried to use it with the air conditioning. I smelled a burning smell, and turned the fan to the off position. Fortunately, i was in the driveway at the time of attempting to turn on the fan.upon having it inspected and removed, it had an obvious burned area. When i investigated the part number, it was apparent that there was a recall on the same part for hummers and chevy canyon and colorados. There was no recall or information regarding the same part for the solstice. The part number is obsolete now because of the redesign of the part from known fire danger of the part. I find this highly negligent of gm to not make this a mandatory recall/or free repair and replacement. The liability associated with this safety issue concerns me greatly, since a fire with this part has been a problem. My life and those of my family should not have been put in danger by gm's lack of responsibility. If there was a fire while parked in my garage, that engulfed my home and family while gm was aware of the danger, the damages would be astronomical in grief and financially. The evidence of the melted parts clearly is proof of the fire problem with this part.depending upon the response to my situation and complaint, i will follow up with other authorities, legal avenues and information networks.sincerely, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Heater blower motor wiring harness is melted and gm knows about these fire hazard's that threaten the lives of occupants. My17 yr old daughter babysits our 13 month old nephew. Airbag seat sensor fails to activate airbag and airbag warning light remains on indefinitely whether passenger is in passenger seat or not. Replacement cost nearly $900.

Passenger airbag sensor broken/defective. I started the car one morning and the "service air bag" came on. I took it to a mechanic, who said the seat sensor in the passenger seat is broken. He told me it was a common problem for this model, and advised me to file this complaint.

When i go to slow down either by coasting or light braking when my car gets to about 20mph it feels like it suddenly brakes or down shifts but if it were not for the seat belt it would send the driver and passengers into the windshield!! it is terrifying!! i am a master mechanic and i verified that it wasn't the brakes grabbing by shifting the car into neutral before it slowed to 20 mph and when you do that the car will not suddenly jerk stopped. It sets many codes tcm etc. I had the tcm replaced and synced at dealership but the car is still doing it. The code now reads that "communication to the tcm is lost"i was told by gm when speaking to them about the latest recall on the ignition switch that they said it could be related because the ignition switch recall affects the car shutting off, rolling away and the airbag inoperative light. Many other pontiac solstice owners are having the same problem. It is very dangerous and is going to cause accidents if not fixed. Please help.

I recently took my 2007 pontiac solstice into a local gm dealership to have the ignition switch replaced. Within less of a month my vehicle'a engine light has came on, my car indicates that my gas cap is loose, an i am having issues with the transmission shift. When i purchased the vehicle i believe the car dealership knew of the issues prior and did not relay the information to me. My car is too dangerous to drive and i am unable to purchase a new vehicle. I may lose my job because a faulty car that was sold to me !

Received a recall on faulty ignition switch dated april 2014. Called a dealer to inquire on april 24, 2014. Was told that part would be ordered and we would be notified when available. Called 5/19/14 again to dealer, no part in yet. Called again july 3, 2014. Finally an appointment was set up for wed. July 9th (yesterday). I feel that is way too long to wait for what could be a life or death matter!

First this issue started with my torque converter i missed recall by months when that was fixed i took it back because speedometer was not working nor was the mileage indicator was not working and it would stay n low gear so i took it back t transmission shop they said the computer had water in it it appeared t them it should b a recall because the frame the computer was sitting on was straight not at a angle causing water t get in computer. So now need t take t pontiac t get a cost on what i will need t pay after they charge me 100.00 it's funny transmission shop charged me nothing to look at it .moral of the story i believe the converter plays alot 8nto this issue. No more american made cars for me .

When i started to slow down or engage the break, the car will jerk forward . It's gotten worse and more frequent daily since i noticed it, to the point where i'm too afraid to drive it at all anymore

My vehicle recently stopped working.they repair shop (wilkins buick--richie hwy, glen burnie, md)says the problem stems from the engine.i am concerned the repair shop knows that the problem is a result of the poor build/work from the gm manufacturer, and is unwilling to repair for free.is there any recourse--can i get my engine problem fixed on gm.this car has given me numerous problems, and now i am unable to fix my car due to the high cost of the repair.

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice. The contact stated that when driving in weather over 90 degrees for more 30 minutes, an overpowering gasoline odor was present inside the vehicle. The contact suffered dizziness and nausea because of the odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the carbon filter was replaced but the failure was not remedied. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times to repair the defect but to no avail. The manufacturer requested to purchase the vehicle from the contact because the defect was not repairable. The contact refused the offer. The failure mileage was 3000.

Peg and insert connection of convertible roof and trunk are rusting on interior. Appears to be caused by alloys in contact without provocation of moisture. I took the vehicle into the dealer (car is 2 months and garaged) and repair service could only clean rust off and lube. The following day the rust returned. The solution would have been to use a stainless steel snapping pin in the trunks receptacles where the peg comes down into contact. Gm currently has no recall and the dealer is putting the responsibility on gm and nor honoring my warranty. This is the first year for this model so bugs are to be expected, however no one is taking care of my car while they shrug their shoulders. Ultimately, when these pins which are part of the trunk rust through (they are no thicker than a 3 penny nail)the rook will become detached from the trunk leading to possible injury.

Handbrake always loose and therefore not functioning at all. Dealer can not tighten it.

Vehicle was parked on an approximate 30 degree incline when it rolled down the paved surface and struck a conrete curb.this occurred after the rear brake calipers and emergency/parking brake cable had been replaced and adjusted subsequent to an earlier incident. The vehicle will not stay parked without rolling on any inclined surface and the emergency brake will not slow the car down at all when engaged while the vehicle is rolling at less then 1 mph.

While driving my 2007 pontiac solstice my car jerks hard when i slow down to around 20-30 mph.when the car down shifts while slowing down it feels like my car is braking hard when the transmission shifts gears.it is absolutely terrifying!!!while driving to work or with my child i never know when its going to happen and i know that eventually it will lead to me or one of my loved ones being seriously injured or killed!!!i cannot afford a new vehicle, but i do not know what to do.hopefully gm can help me and fix the problem with there vehicle they sold me.

This is the third time we will need to replace the tcm modular, not covered by warranty. Dealler(s) have only been interested in my $1,000.00, but not in what is causing the part to fail every 15 months.

When driving and attempting to slow down, i am almost thrown from my vehicle because it feels like the wheels completely stopped turning when the car is downshifting.

When slowing to a stop, the automatic transmission will downshift, abruptly at each gear change causing the rear tire ro lock and skid under wet conditions. This happens around 30-05 mph. It has also turned the check engine light on.

Vehicle was parked in a private driveway on an incline and left with engine off, parking brake engaged and in 1st gear.vehicle was found after it rolled down the incline approximately 50 feet and was stopped by having run into a group of 7 foot height hedges.the vehicle was still in first gear with the emergency parking brake still engaged when recovered.

Vehicle downshifts hard through all gears. Started as occassionally, but progressively has gotten worse. Upshifts are engaging harder as well now. Automatic transmission. Looking into this it appears to be a fairly common problem. Is this being investigated? how should i address this? seems it could be dangerous especially on wet pavement.

When applying brakes at approximately 15 mph, the car jerked very hard and i heard what sounded like the back wheels almost lock up.it almost felt like it was suddenly thrown into reverse & the car was trying to adjust.it occurred every time i slowed down to turn or stop when applying the brakes.luckily the 18 wheeler behind me coming off the interstate was far enough behind me but had he been much closer, he would have crushed me!we just bought an audi and were going to give the solstice to our 17 year old daughter as a graduation present but now i am terrified for her to drive it!!this could cause a very dangerous situation.i am scared to drive it at all.i know there is a recall so i need to call our local dealer asap!!

As i began to brake to come to a stop, my car jerked really hard. At first i wondered if my brakes were not applying. This happened maybe once or twice more that day. I took the vehicle to the dealer and had new brakes installed. But i told them the issue that i was having. A couple of weeks later the problem appeared to be getting worse so i took the vehicle back to the dealer for a diagnosis. They gave me a laundry list of issues totaling in the excess of $1,800.00. None of the issues specifically addressed what was wrong with my vehicle. The jerking has gotten worse. I sought out the pontiac solstice forum and found that the power train pinion issue (recall # 07204) is exactly what is going on with my car. I have spoken with gm but they are saying that i will need to pay to have the car diagnosed to see if this issue is a recall issue and that the car is past the powertrain warranty and i may have to pay for the repairs. I just purchased this vehicle 2 years ago. I am paying a monthly note. A powertrain issue is liable to be very expensive. Furthermore in reading about this recall, i am almost afraid to drive the vehicle. Furthermore, apparently this issue has been repaired on the vehicle before...in 2008. Is it possible that this is a recurring issue? this is a low mileage car so either it is a consistent issue or it was never repaired.

When slowing down car suddenly jerks hard like brakes lock.took to dealer got trouble codes p0700 and p2735.i see this alot on the forums as well as here. No accidents but close.could be costly repairs and dealer says may still experience same thing after repairs.dangerous.costly.and may not fix problem.great deal..

Transmission locking. Setting dtc codes p2637 and p0700, potential for rear end collision due to lockups on slowing down to a stop. Feels as if car is braking hard with no brake lights being activated to announce that driver is stopping.

Extremely hard downshifts when slowing down to stop. So severe the tires slid as you come to a stop. This is a 2007, 2.4l 4cyl pontiac solstice automatic transmission. Mil lamp is on with a p2637 code set. This is a potentially dangerous situation. All downshifts are harsh when coming to a stop. Upshifts are quick and harsh also.

I was driving (pontiac solstice 2007)and the car went out of control.the front end had some damage to the driver's side after coming in contact with a cement barrier.i contacted pontiac customer assistance to report the accident. Gm sent an investigator to review the car.he found nothing wrong with the car.however, the pontiac dealership that i had the car sent to after the accident, replaced the rear differential assembly (under warranty) along with the front-end damage that my insurance company covered.i received the recall in feb. 2008 for the rear pinion seal leak and had the required work done at that time, also.

I had a passenger sit in my pontiac solstice and the air bag sensor started flashing on and off.the suddenly it stayed on and gave me a warning light.this is very dangerous because now all my passengers do not have a functioning air bag.i have seen countless owners on the solstice forums also have the same issue.

The passenger side airbag is not functional as evidenced by a warning light.it is understood that this is a known issue. The value of the vehiclehas been impacted. Unable to sell car due to concern by buyers.

Service air bag due to faulty passenger system. Recall issued 7 months ago with no resolution yet. Air bag will not deploy for passenger in crash. Recall 17v-061 issued with no resolution.

The passenger seat airbag sensor stopped working. It no longer sensing when a passenger is present in the passenger seat. This seems like a very dangerous problem since the airbag will not deploy on passenger side in a crash. It seems to be a common problem that is well documented, i believe gm should order a recall.

Service air bag light text appeared in dic on with child in seat after starting car. Now passenger air bag off lamp on with adult seat belted in seat.

Airbag light came on.service air bag on the display.contacted gm b0081 code.$900 to repair.

The parking brake does not hold the vehicle even on a mild incline without engaging a gear with the manual transmission.

The failure only occurred when driving at low speeds and when depressing the brake pedal multiple times, causing the brake vacuum pump to malfunction. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000...updated 11/05/15

The contact owns a 2007 pontiac solstice.while driving 40 mph on wet pavement, one wheel lost traction at 10 to 15 degrees uphill.when the other wheel regained traction, it pulled the a-frame apart.the contact stated that the a-frame is attached with two bolts.the attachment of the a-frame has a two inch slot with a 5/8 inch bolt, no locks, washers, or anything holding the a-frame section together.with a two inch slot and a 5/8 inch bolt, the steering capability will be nonexistent if the nut comes off of the bolt.if there is any torque involved, the energy that is introduced to the slot will rip out the a-frame section.the vehicle was destroyed.the contact has pictures and a police report was filed.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 11,500.

My car lurches or downshift while normal driving. This causes it hard to control. Previous recalls on this make and model have been for power train.however my vin #doesn't qualify. This is a mistake. I was highway and city driving when it occurred. Normal

We purchased our 2007 solstice and the service airbag light came on. Dealer checked and estimated $770.forrepair. In my opinion, this should be a recall issue for safety reasons.

Takata recall: air bag light came on and the dealer put in a temp fix and the light is off, but they told me a new fix is coming from gm.i drive by myself 90% of the time because i am afraid to let anyone ride in the passenger seat because they could be injured.

Two tires keep losing air.one severely enough that it is below 20 lbs of pressure every morning requiring me to add air with a hand pump every day or drive on one or more tires dangerously low on air.this has been happening for months.parks chevrolet in charlotte, nc says they have no solution.a good year tire and auto center and a discount tire center both said that the chrome on the interior of the rims is flaking off, creating slow air leaks between the tire and the rims.presumably the air is leaking all the time and appears to be worse when parked with the tire in a particular position.i have had a tire go completely flat (smooshed and registering no air pressure) parked in the garage for a few days.
