I have a handicap accessible van made by m.c. Mobility and gm.my automatic sliding door opens itself and executes the ramp at different times.once i was at the drive thru and put my car in park and it opened the door and executed the ramp.other times it has opened and closed by itself.one time during an outdoor event some folks watched my car for entertainment for 4 hours and during that time period it opened and closed itself 14 times.we have had the door worked on many times and it is well documented and i would be happy to share the documentation.the wheels on my door have been changed several times i have replaced my car battery and the batteries of both key fobs.right now it has been working correctly for about 60 days
For several days we noticed as strong chemical like smell in the car and then noticed that the mirror control no longer worked.i took off the driver's side door switch panel to investigate the mirror problem and found the mirror control had been smoldering for days.the assembly was completely charred and mating connector had also melted.
No incident has occurred.the speedometer has been acting up for 6 - 7 mos. And has continually gotten worse.the car is only 3.5 years old with 79,000 miles.i will have to replace the cluster (panel) which the cost of the part alone is $400.gm does not recognize this make and model as having a problem but i find it very convenient that this is such a widespread problem with gm products.

Since purchasing nearly 2 yrs ago from a local dealership, it has had numerous minor issues and some dangerous problems as well. My main concern is that the drivers side automatic sliding door doesn't function properly. We had the van looked at by a mechanic from the dealership and he was unable to remedy the problems with the door.the slider door opens randomly, won't shut, or just keeps opening and shutting for no particular reason.we've tried turning the switch off on the console, which for the most part keeps the door shut~ but then that door is unusable.now for the most serious of my concerns with the console switch off, the door has on occasion opened on its own when the van is going down the road. Also, at least 3 times in the last 6 months, the door has opened on its own in the night and stayed open~ causing my battery to be dead in the morning.another problem we have has is theabs and the traction controllights come on randomly, we had the van serviced and still it doesn't seem like those systems are working properly.

The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer a remedy. The current and failure mileage were 108,000.updated 8/15/14 updated 08/26/2014
When driving at night the headlights, dash lights and radio dim, like they are having surges of power. The volume on the radio also goes up and down.i have been "spotlighted" at night by on coming cars because they think i have my bright lights on but that is when they are "surging". I have been to two different dealers.one said it was a problem with the electric pollution pump and the other said it was related to the charging system. Both have stated that gm has considered this a normal condition. In my opinion this is dangerous.

Numerous attempts to fix the same and continuously different problems with our 2005 montana.flickering interior lights, abs system failure (4x), retorque harmonic balancer, replace radio that randomly changed stations, replace molding on all doors from rust (2x), right wheel bearing and hub assembly replacement (2x), replace turn signal lamps (2x), replace fuel level sensor, replace strap on rear door that fell off.we have had issues with it not turning over as well, going on for over a year, and each time it is taken into the shop they are 'unable to duplicate the problem' and send me home where of course it fails to turn over but won't do it when they have it in their possession.the incident date below is the date of the first time it was in for service.

This is a safety issue involving abs system for my 2005 pontiac sv6 montana. On or about august 11, 2006 my abs light came on while under normal operation of the van. This has been an intermittent problem over the past 6 weeks. I took it to a local independent shop to have it diagnosed and the local shop informed me that the codes were to new that i would have to take it to a dealership. After taking it to the dealership they diagnosed it as having an electrical problem. There were no faulty modules but that this was a wiring problem. I am the only owner of an 05 pontiac montana that i know. Recently i have had various other problems with the power sliding door intermittently opening whenever you engage the transmission into reverse (right side only). My 6 year old sits in the right rear seat. Hope this doesn't happen while driving down the highway. Does this vehicle have faulty wiring or do i just have bad luck.

When im driving down the road going 55-60 miles an hour my van will suddenly "grab" and make a sudden stop and say service stability control system> it makes me almost come to a complete stop from 55-60 miles an hour- its scary! this has happened moving fast, and also turning. Most recent date this happened was today 3/9/16

The vehicle is constantly overheating. The thermostat on the dash jumps erratically and as soon as you shut the engine off and pop the hood you can put your hand on the engine. The engine is cool to the touch. Changed several parts and there is no leak.
Vehicle has been properly maintained under hood components for years. One day i started it up and was smoking heavily. No evidence has been shown to be a failure to maintain. No loose or bare wires, nothing unordinary going on under the hood that could cause this. No signs of operator error so forth.

Whistle noise from front of vehicle around 60 mph.dealer has replaced the front windshield seal, door seal, and a gasket under the hood but this has not helped.the dealer told me that they didn't hear the whistle unless they drove it 90 mph!!!i was told that this is a problem with pontiac's design and it can not be fixed.passenger side sliding door doesn't stay shut and doesn't open when outside handle is pulled and motor running too long and grinding after door has closed.the door motor has been replaced yet there is still a grinding noise when the door shuts. The power sliding doors do not work properly. They can open while driving. Open after car is shut off. They also do not open when they feel like it. Car door driver side opened on i95 at 65 mph. My daughter watched as her stuff and her hamster flew out the vehicle.
The driver side back door will not close and stay closed.if i push the button to close it automatically, it comes right back open.if i use the override and close it manually, then the door chimes as i am driving telling me that the door is ajar.i also have issues with the passenger side back door.if i go over a bump or pot hole, then the chime starts and the only way to stop it is to open the door and re-close it.
Bought car used. It dinged and salesman said door just not closed properly. We brought it in 2 weeks later as door decides when it wants to close. Driver's side rear door to 2005 pontiac montana minivan. Dealer aligned door. Still won't close.

Getting ready to leave from a shopping center during the middle of a snow storm, my wife and i loaded both kids in the back of the van (1 and 3 years) and tried to close the doors.the automatic doors would not close.we tried the key fob, the upper roof console buttons and the buttons on the b-posts.nothing worked.we then tried manually to close the doors but they would not latch.we turned the ignition key on and off the 3 times and tried to use buttons after each restart.finally after ten minutes of trying we got them to close and latch by using the key fob.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the repair sheet indicates they replaced the module and the fobs.it has only happened once since then, but i am not sure if the repair that was done is adequate since it has happened again since the repair.

Dt:the caller was having problems with the passenger's side sliding door. The motor raneven after the door was shut. Once, the door did not retract when her child was getting out, and the door trapped her. Child was not hurt. Dealer couldnot duplicate the problem. Dealer shaved the door on the inside and replaced the motor. The callerstated that the motor still ran at times after the door was closed. Manufacturer said because they went to court they will have to start over again with reporting the problems with the van. A police report was taken because the caller'spurse was stolen out of the van after a recall on the automatic door locks. Recall work was done onthe locks.

One does not know when the door will open.the doorcomes off of the track at times.
Dt:the contact stated while drivingvehiclewould sway back and forth regardless of speed.the vehicle has been to the dealer several times, but they could not find the cause of theproblem. Another safety concern was the automatic door.it was not equipped with a safety device to keep the door from coming open when it was not intended to open.for example, while fueling the vehicle, if someone accidentally hit the inside handle it will not stop unless she manually tried to close the door from the outside.the vehicle has not been inspected to determine why this happened.
The door opens by itself even when it should be locked.
The transmission seems to be having a problem shifting into second gear. This vehicle only has 42,000 miles on it. It seems to stall everytime it tries to shift to second gear. This could easily cause an accident if the transmission quit while driving. I took it to a dealership, who verified that the second gear is skipping but they said they were fixing the same type of van (older model) with 100,000 more miles than mine with the same problem.

Our 2005 pontiac montana sv6 minivan, less than 3 years old with 44,888 miles on it, recently failed the north carolina vehicle safety inspection because both front wheel hubs had developed unacceptable play.pontiac refused to correct the problem under the vehicle warranty because the vehicle was over the 36000 mile limit (but under the 3 year time limit).because of the potential safety consequences of a total failure of the front wheel hubs, and because the vehicle could not be licensed in north carolina without passing the north carolina safety inspection, the vehicle was repaired at our expense be replacing both front wheel hubs.i currently have possession of the old replaced parts if a closer inspection is desired.
This vehicle is equipped with an all wheel drive system, which is necessary in our environment to climb icy or muddy hills to get to our house, or friends' houses, all on dirt roads.it's also very beneficial for driving on icy and slushy roads which are frequent around here.we have three vehicles, all awd or 4wd.on the 2005 pontiac montana sv6, however, there appears to be a sensor on each wheel which is integral to the awd system.this sensor is apparently easily obscured by ice, slush, or mud splashing up into the wheel wells, and when this happens the vehicle disables its all-wheel drive system, leaving the driver with a fwd vehicle, which can often be insufficient to handle conditions entered with an awd vehicle.so far we've been stranded at the bottom of icy hills and narrowly averted two crash incidents due to the awd system disabling when driving through slush puddles or mud.the dealer has been able to clear the sensor and reset the system twice - on the third incident we were told the entire right front hub assembly would have to be replaced, so apparently slush can permanently damage the awd system as well.this problem was reported to pontiac via their website and they haven't bothered to respond.

Beginning at 15k miles the power sliding doors began not functioning properly.the would automatically open as if there was an obstruction in the doorway.at 18k miles there was a complete failure to the motor drive assembly.after repair both doors continued to auto open.during normal driving conditions at interstate speed the door did come open with no passengers in it.when the doors are not functioning properly you must deactivate lock out rocker switch on overhead console, then manually close.if you re-energize the lock out switch door will auto open.at times the door ajar chime will sound while the doors are shut and locked and will not turn off, once to the point of running out the battery.when doors do not want to shut they force themselves open repeatedly.multiple occasions a month since 2006, i have had it in for service numerous times with no success.the motor and control logic sits adjacent to the rear seatbelt mechanism.both seatbelts in the 3rd row are not working properly since they have attempted to repair this problem.

On 1-7 june 05, my family and i rented a 2005 pontiac montana minivan (same as the 2005 chevy uplander) for a trip in colorado.we attached our twin boys carseats to the latch systems in both rear captain's chairs.we checked and made sure both seats were securely in place.it was at this time that we noticed that the rear captains chairs lift up if they are pushed too far back (the mechanism for attaching the chairs to the floor automatically releases when the chairs are slid back, i.e to give more leg room)we firmly secured both captains chairs into the floor, pulling up firmly on both several times.however, on day 1 of our trip, while coming to a fast stop, one of my son's captains chairs flew up and almost hit the passenger's side seat.we once again secured both seats to the ground.we continued on our trip.while returning the car to the rental agent and again coming to a stop, the other captain's chair (which had been secure the entire trip) released from the floor, sending my other son into the back of the passengers side seat back.thank goodness he was fastened into the car seat.this is a horrible defect in the design of these seats, and should be investigated.we were lucky not to have injuries.
The contact owns a 2005 pontiac montana. The contact stated that the ignition was turned to the on position and shifted into the park position. The contact exited the vehicle and left the vehicle unattended for four minutes. When the contact returned, the vehicle had crashed into a wall. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 201,000. The vin was unavailable.
I was driving on the road at 30 miles an hour, suddenly the car in front made a sudden stop, i pressed the brakes immediately but they failed to work (they got hard when i pushed them) i tried to avoid the crash but it was too late. Air bags popped out instantly, there was no injuries that occurred.
The attached date is the latest of the failures.i already had a complaint submitted regarding a crash due to abs failure on december 31, 2005.since the damage was fixed from the accident and the abs was supposedly fixed, we have had many more abs failures.it has been to the dealer 3 times (this time being the 3rd) after the initial problem and each time they supposedly fix it (between the wiring harness, the ebcm, and the wheel speed sensor i don't know what is causing it now).they keep telling us it is a non-critical system, but it caused an accident.with the other failures after the accident, the abs would kick in for no reason, i react with more pressure (since i'm not expecting the abs to come in to play during a normal braking situation), then fail in the middle of a normal stop causing a near wheel lock-up.i believe this is a big safety problem and warrants a good look.
My daughter had un-buckled her seat belt because it had locked up, so i went to make a quick stop so i could buckle her back up.i stepped on the brakes moderately hard and the anti-locks activated for about 1 second, then suddenly the wheels completely locked up and the van went into an uncontrollable skid.i hit an 8" curb head on, jumped over it and landed on the front lawn of a motel and skidded to a stop.the front tires popped, the wheels were pushed all the way back to the back of the wheel wells, the frame is bent (body lines don't line up) and i'm sure there is much more wrong with it.the abs light and traction control light started coming on about a week earlier every time the traction control kicked in. The information center would also say "service tracking system" and "service abs system." i did as the manual says; turned the key off then turned it back on and the lights would go out.so i assumed everything would be ok in a bind.the dealership is trying to say it's my fault and that they will be filing with my insurance company.the police report notes the abs light was on after the accident.i have pictures of the skid marks and the damage, and i am note sure the edr that this vehicle is equipped with would reflect the same thing or not.
Dt: the contact statedwhen releasing brake pressure on an incline the vehicle rolled back.the passenger'sair bag light illuminated intermittently.also, while driving the remote control doors open and close, and power door locks lock and unlock. The dealer noted this was normal, and no repairs have been made.
Both sliding doors problem malfunctioning.driver slider will not open until you manually unlock from door.passenger door will open without notice even after new motor/mechanism replaced by dealer.abs system failure repaired three times in two weeks by dealer.
Creak, pop, clunk noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The noise is noticeable during slow parking lot maneuvers, and is mostly evident in a completely stopped condition when turning the steering wheel left and right. I spend money trying to get my car fit, and no one could find what the problem was.
Headlights surging causing me to constantly be bright lighted by oncoming traffic.the dealer told me that this is normal!
2005 pontiac montana sv6 automatic sliding door opens while driving, bad sensor and broke cable was replaced. *cwthe consumer also stated the engine failed, which ultimately led to an engine replacement.the vehicle began shaking and misfiring. A bad plug and the stabilizing bar links were replaced.the undercarriage was cracked which was causing a loud knocking and thumping sound under the vehicle. The consumer also had the seats replaced with an after market leather kit because stains had formed on the seats due to moisture.the consumer later discovered a recall had been issued because the after market kit could cause the passenger sensing system to malfunction if the passenger sensing system malfunctions, the front air bag on the passenger side may be disabled when it should be enabled, or enabled when it should be disabled. The consumer was informed his vehicle was not included in the recall

I just want to inform you that i was not notified by gm of either of the 2 recalls on my 2005 pontiac montana.the first and worst being id#: 04v597000, which i know for sure affects my vehicle.the other being id#: 05v061000, which may not affect me depending on which seats i have in the 2nd row.

2005 pontiac montana. Consumer states problem with front passenger door *tgwthe consumer stated the front passenger door had to be repaired twice in less than one year at a cost of $117.69. The second time, the consumer had to pay $ 109.82. The dealer replaced the door panel clips and door handle.
Bought car used. It dinged and salesman said door just not closed properly. We brought it in 2 weeks later as door decides when it wants to close. Driver's side rear door to 2005 pontiac montana minivan. Dealer aligned door. Still won't close.
My 3 year old son pushed the button to close the automatic sliding side door and the door caught his left thumb and part of the palm. I took him to the immediate care center and he had a bone that was chipped in his thumb. They put a splint on his thumb and was going to re x-ray him in about a week.
The door design is poor.if one is not directly up against the door it jams anda child could get trapped.if oneis in the doorway it takes a lot of force to reopen the door.the consumer stated that the sliding door poses a safety hazard for small children.the consumer stated that a child could not exhert the force necessary to cause the door to reopen and could be injured while being dragged / pushed by te door until they are lodged between the door and the jam. *tc
The driver side sliding door continues to open and when you lock it manually it chimes while you are driving. The sensors have been replaced and the lock but nothing is working right.
Side passenger door opens on it own.
Passenger electric cargo door did not open electrically after outside door handle was used to release latching mechanism. Vehicle was driven with no indication through the monitoring/warning system that the door was not fully closed and locked. Under gm case# 8477192, it was decided to replace the door latch actuator for a voltage spike issue.
The "air shocks" that propel and hold up the liftgate of our 2005 pontiac montana sv6 failed.there was no evidence of possible failure prior to the actual failure.the lift gate is extremely heavy and it poses a safety hazard.it does not hold itself up once opened and should it fall, the heavy liftgate door would slam shut injuring anything or anyone in its way.we have used it on the rare occasion that we had to, and it is extremely difficult and heavy to hold up and open, and we must gingerly close it to prevent the back window from breaking should it close too hard.we were fortunate that our failure occurred when we were trying to open it and it wouldn't open as it should.we fear that a severe injury or death could result should the failure of the liftgate occur while it is already open.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 50 mph, the rear left sliding door opened without warning.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.the manufacturer was also notified.also, when the vehicle was started, the electric starter motor stayed engaged.the vehicle had to be shut off and restarted 4 times to make the starter return to normal.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the starter was replaced, but the problem persisted.the was a noise coming from the front of the vehicle. When the engine was started the door chime would remain on. The transmission felt as though it was slipping at times. Updated 01/17/07.
Trim strips on both sides of van were rusting even though they were plastic. Was told that this was a known problem, there should be service bulletin on it, and that the paint surface was not cleaned properly before painting it, therefore iron/rust was bleeding through. This happened only on the trim strips on the front doors, no where else on van. Strips were replaced since still under warranty and no problems yet after 2 months.
Window sticker indicated that my vehicle contained stabilitrak electronic stability control.received letter 3 months after purchase indicating that they did not install the system.dealer has verified system is not installed.

2005 pontiac montana problems with the head rests as well as the arm rest.*mrthe rear center head rest is too large and it creates a bad blind spot when looking in the rear view mirror.
Power sliding doors require a lot of force to stop and reverse the direction. I am very concerned for my children exiting the van. Dealership states that this is normal for this van because as the vehicle ages it requires more force to close.
Whistling noise from the front end of the van.the problem has occurred since we purchased the van.the windshield seal, door seal, and passenger side mirror have been replaced but the problem still persists.
Dt:the contact owns a 2005 pontiac montana.the contact stated while drivingthe vehicle it accelerated, causing itto crash into a tree.she was driving slowly down a driveway.bystanders stated that there was a grinding noise coming from the vehicle when this was happening.the contact stated she could not control the vehicle.the vehicle was taken toa body shop, the body shop declared the vehiclewas totaled.the consumer has not contacted the service dealer to determine the cause of the accelerator pedal malfunctioning.the consumer has not contacted the manufacturer.
While driving the vehicle the speedometer gauge, gas gauge and/or temperature gauge will begin moving erratically.in the event it is the speedometer - it will appear the vehicle is traveling at 110mph when it is really going about 30mpg.it happens one or twice a month and there is no way to repair it that i am aware of.it is very dangerous because the sudden change in speedometer can cause a wreck or crash.

Dt:there was a problem with the cruise control.the consumer stated that the cruise control caused the vehicle to speed. The consumerwas unable to stop the vehicle by applying the brake or using the cruise control switch.the consumer had to put the vehicle in neutral then hit the brake pedal.the brakes became very hot and started smoking.after a considerable amount of time the consumer was able to pull off to the side of the road.no accident resulted. When the consumer took vehicle to dealerfor repairs the dealership could not find thecause of the problem.the dealer contacted the manufacturer and couldn't identify what caused the problem but suggested the dealer replace the cruise control module.the cruise control module replaced and everything seems to be working properly now.
Had an annoying whistling noise coming from the front drivers side of the van at highway speed and extremely windy days. Numerous complaimts with no results until windsheild was replaced due to a crack. Upon removal of the windsheild, a large gap in the sealant/adhesive was discovered at the bottom center portion of the winsheild, most likely the start and finish points of the robot. Since the repair/replacement problem has dissappeared.
2005 pontiac montana experiencing problems with the windows and the windshield wipers. *mr the consumer found damage on the door which was remedied, then the consumer reported that both windows rolled down hard.the drivers side was fixed but not the passenger side.wiper failure occurred intermittently and were replaced, then the passenger window would not roll up.the passenger window was fixed.the driver window did not operate properly and the vehicle stalled on a few occasions while the vehicle was in motion. *sc

Since vehicle inception, all tires need air every 2-3 weeks.at 5000 miles hit a pothole and bent rh front rim outside bead (air pressure good). Took it to the dealer and they rotated the tires in a x pattern rh front to lh rear, lh front to rh rear, etc.lh rear became rh front, which at 7200 miles while driving down the freeway the rh front rim bead breaks and the bead punctures tire causing momentary loss of control.there was no one in the area at the time and vehicle was pulled to the side of the road.
