Within a month of purchasing a pre-owned 2008 pontiac, grand prix from mike smith buick gmc, located in lockport, ny, i realized the sensor for the passenger airbag would turn off and on while i have a passenger weighing over 200lbs in the passenger seat. I notified dealership and made an appt. On sept 22, 2014. My car went in for service on september 29, 2014. The technician informed me he reset the module but no codes were coming up for the electronic control unit and this was too expensive and time consuming to fix and would not be covered under the new york state lemon law warranty. This concerns me as a safety defect and i would like to know if this is covered under general motors corporation.
I was in an accident going about 35 miles per hour when i hit a bronco i knocked his tires off complete total of my vehicle the hood was destroyed i have pictures of my car the air bags did not go off and i hit my head pretty hard on the steering wheel i'm glad it was just me as my kids would have been injured but my concern is with the airbags not deploying even the cop on scene said they should have deployed.
I was driving on the highway and exiting on a ramp.the ramp was on an incline. My driving speed around 45 mph.then, unexpectedly, the speed decreased to 30 mph and immediately the "reduce engine speed" light came on.shortly after, my "check engine" light came on. I continued on my exit, pulled over and parked.after car being off for 30 minutes, the car started right back up.the "reduce engine speed" light went off but the "check engine" light remained.i purchased my car in feb 2014 and this was the very 1st incident.in the beginning, this wasn't frequent but as i noticed it happening more often, i began to record each time this happened.the dates i have tracked thus far are 7/7/14, 7/10/14, 7/13/14, 7/27/14, 8/2/14, 8/11/14, 8/12/14, 8/20/14, 8/21/14, 8/22/14, 8/28/14 (happened 3 times throughout the noon at 2:15p, 3:00p & 5:20p), 8/29/14, 9/9/14, 9/10/14 (4 times throughout this day), 9/15/14, 9/16/14, 9/17/14, 9/18/14, 9/19/14, 9/20/14, 9/23/14, 9/24/14, 9/27/14.i have already had $550 repairs done, at least that's what i thought, to take care of the "reduce engine speed" light but it continues to come on.i took it back the same mechanic/body shop and the diagnostic machine showed more/different codes.new repairs would cost another $550-$600.also, when either of my sons sit in the front seat, the passenger airbag light goes on and off.they are both between 90-95 lbs.this are major concerns because i need to know that we are safe whenever we are inside the vehicle.
Passenger seat air bag weight sensor cycles on and off when passenger of approx 150 lbs. Is in seat. Had dealer check, said would cost approx$900 to repair.as car was out of warranty (4yr). This is a very expensive repair on a vital safety device that should reliable well beyond a 3 or 4 yr period.
A vehicle turned in front of me causing a subsequent crash resulting in front damage to my car.airbags did not deploy although bumper was torn off and hood bent. Additionally aside from the crash, my car has started losing power while driving.i was driving on the highway when it lost power.i was able to maneuver and get it to the side of the road.it finally restarted.it will not start sometimes.had the engine light checked and it shows there is a sensor problem.will not identify which pedal sensor.frustrated and will not drive it on the highway.
Airbag light goes on intermittently and won't turn off.took car to gm dealership and was told that the passenger presence module was bad which causes the airbags to become inoperable when the light goes on.
We got this 2008 pontiac grand prix from a second hand dealer that sold 2008 or newer, we were on a lease with this auto we also had a warranty as well. We took a short trip to ohio and we checked into the hotel , went out got into the car was heading to their casino for the night was driving on interstate 75 doing about 72 mph. While i was in the fast lane i lost all power didn't know what had happen had to try to get the car all the way over to right side of the highway. This was in on june 26,2012 police came i called the warranty company they stated that we would have to have the car towed to a gm dealership so we did, the next morning i got up and called the dealer told them what happen while i was driving the car it cranks and does not start check and please advise. While waiting on them i called the lease company to see what kind of help we could get from them the answer was point blank none was never late on payments with them the car only had 92152 miles on it at this time we got it back in aug.2009. So the dealer called back and told us the the car had a bad ignition control module and coil , this not the killing part we had to pay $705.88 and wow general motors saying they don't have any recalls on this model or year. I have been trying to get reimburse for the amount we paid to have this done, i know that it's a whole lot of people out here that have had some of the same issues that i have had but didn't get them repaired. Other issues (1) power sterring(2) brake lights staying on alot of the time(3)airbag ,and the list goes on.
On september 1st, 2014 around 6:45pm i was in a car accident. A truck cut me almost crashing into another car from behind. I moved over i couldn't see the car stopped in the other lane. From the big truck infront of me. I hit the brakes didn't work made clicking sound. I rearended a vehicle, they slightly hit a car infront of them. My airbag, shot my hand through the windshield. I had extreme arm pain. I had seen a gray piece of metal in my arm, i went to the er. I still feel movement in it. I'm following up with my dr. Since the accident. Next will be a surgeon or specialty dr.
I have had my car 2yrs now andmy passenger airbag light still doesn't come on all time when my fiancee sits on my front passenger side of my car. My fiancee is little and only weigh about 125lbs but i am getting frustrated with constantly turning the car on and off and making her get in and out off the car until the sensor reads that she is in the seat. When my bother and i sit on the passenger side the airbag is light comes on first try. My brother and i both weigh 250+ and i'm starting to think it may have something to do with the amount of weight in the seat for the sensor to pick up. Please help to resolve this because i am afraid that if i ever have awreck and my fiancee is in the passenger seat the airbag may not deploy.
Since i bought the car, i noticed on motion the force on the pedal started reducing. When it happens i repress it again which will become stable at that particular time. Will got stuck while in motion( 55mpr). I took to the dealership they told me nothing wrong with the car, and then i was under warranty. This morning i took it to mechanic, they told me it's electrical problem with throttle pedal and seat.
Dealer states airbag has bad inflater, not covered under warranty

My father-in-law was driving my grand prix and my mother-in-law was in the passenger seat. My father-in-law lost consciousness at the wheel and they went left of center and ran another vehicle off the road. My mother-in-law grabbed the wheel to avoid a collision and they went off the road to the right and went airborne and crashed into a tree. My father-in-law died in the crash and my mother-in-law was life-flighted. The car had extensive damage and was totaled. The airbags never deployed.
On certain occasions, the front passenger air bag sensor turns the airbag "off" even though an adult of suitable weight who is properly seated in the seat is present.the problem is usually (but now always) corrected when the vehicle is turned off and restarted.two dealerships were unable to diagnose, detect and correct the problem since it is intermittent.this problem exposes the front adult passenger to serious injury or death if an accident occurs and the air bag is not activated because of this faulty sensor.
I was pulling into a parking space and my foot slipped off brake and i hit a curb.the airbags went off which also shattered the windshield.my insurance and body shop said there was not enough damage to the car to cause the airbags to go off.
I have a 2008 pontiac grand prix, the air bag sensor light came on, i checked with the dealer repair service, they said it would be $1,100 to fix it.i called gm and they did offer to pay for half the cost to fix it, but my air bags were not able to work with the sensor out.i had to pay $475 to have the sensor replaced, it would seem that is something that should be covered for more than 3 years, beings the car is 3 years old, never been in an accident, so as far as i know, the airbags have never been deployed, so why would i have to pay $1,100 for that?that is a safety issue, and if i would have been in an accident, the airbags would not have worked.
2008 pontiac grand prix lost total power to the car.discovered that the ignition module had gone bad.*mwthe consumer stated it wasn't until after the repair shop replaced the ignition module and did a maintenance check ride, they discovered the source of the ignition module failing, was the ignition coil, which also had to be replaced.

2008 pontiac grand prix.consumer writes in regards to ignition problems recall notice.the consumer stated the new key that was given to her, did not work. However, the old key still worked.a day after the vehicle was at the dealer, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle displayed the same ignition switch symptoms as the recall notice.the dealer gave her an estimate of $604 to replace the crankshaft position sensor and ignition module.
Upon starting of the car under normal conditions, noticed a slight burnt electrical smell, after inspection of the engine compartment, i did not notice any smoke or obvious signs, and the smell went away, this happened twice while out shopping at various places.on the final leg of the trip on the way home, i noticed the smell becoming more apparent, and the smell was noticeable at traffic light stops.once home, i once again inspected the compartment, and noticed a melted spot on the top of the fuse box, after opening, the low beam relay was burnt beyond recognition and fused to the wiper relay.in order to use headlights, i now have to replace the whole fuse box due to the burnt spot in the cover and the fuse box.see attached pictures. I could not attach the picture of plastic dust which is what is left of the relay, due to size limitations.
I purchased a 2008 pontiac grand prix in march 2014 and shortly after when i tried to start it it didn't want to start. This has happened probably 10-15 times a month give or take maybe more seeing as i'm not the only one who drives it so i don't know but i know it's about 10-15 times a month for me. When this happens i have to give it gas to get going so i'm not stranded someplace and i'm not sure if this is an electrical problem an ignition problem or a problem with the fuel pump i'm not sure what's going on but i would like to have some answers due to this being a newer car than what we have and this being an issue that could cause me or someone else to end up being stranded due to the car not want to start properly.
The car has just died while driving, had towed to 1 garage (july 2014) and the coils and ignition module were fried and needing replaced.had that done then 6 months later (dec 2014) same issue.now 1 year later again coils misfiring and igniton module needs to be replaced.luckily was able to move off to side of road and not cause an accident.
2008 pontiac grand prix, total ignition failure, while driving without warning. Vehicle has only 39000 miles, and was properly maintained. There was no check engine light.repair was to change ignition module and three coil packs. The fuse was also blown.
Recall for my car 14v400. Iwas given 2 little key rings for my keys, and alittle black rubberinsert was placed in the key slot. The rubber insert,by the way, always comes out (3 days after it was put in) it will not stay in at all.i am very worried driving my car. My car has died out 3 times at a red lightafteri hadthe little key rings and rubber insert.( i have nothing on my car key hanging when it goes into my ignition ). I do have proof of one time it died out, its on paper fromspitzer's auto. They were trying to find out why my car won't start at first attempt, and why it totally dies out. This issue is still going on. It is really getting worse. It will not start on 2nd or 3rd try any more (waiting for 10 min. In- betweentries. Its worse,it takes20 min to 40 min in-between tries for it to start. My car dies out on me at red lights, its a shorter time periodin-between tries.whenit dies out, takes 10 to 15 minute wait, try to start it again,it will start. I dont feel safe in my car.i really need this looked into.from reading the paperi was sentexplaining about the recall ..i feel thatif my car ignition is going to the "run" position,by itself, then the key rings and rubber insert did not fix the problem. If you need any further info please let me know.thank you .it is asking down below "when did this happen" ..i have several dates, it will only let me choose one.

Was stopped at a red light and my car just died. Had to get it towed to the garage. They responded that the ignition coil was fried which fried 2 other ignition coils and the ignition control module. Cost of repairs $700. If i would have been driving my normal highway driving at 65 mph would my car just have shut down on the highway? this could have been a safety issue if the car died right in the middle of the crossing. Now i am without a car for 2 more days because parts need to be ordered, then fixed.
Car is turned off but headlights just randomly come on and a loud fan blowing type noise under the hood.

I drive a 2008 pontiac grand prix.i have driven it for seven or eight years.i understand that there have been recalls on this vehicle but i have yet to receive one notice of a recall.in june 2014, the electrical system shut down on my car without warning at one of the busiest intersections in greenville, ms. As a result of the electrical system shutting down i was left without air, operative window and doors, neither an operative horn nor emergency flashers.it happened during the hottest part of the day and my car was facing the sun. I was trapped in the car for about thirty minutes and i came very close to suffocating! it was a very traumatic experience for me though i sustained no physical injuries. My window had to be broken in order for me to be removed from the car.i am no longer comfortable driving my car as i never can tell when this might occur again.

It also starts when it wants to start.the enginecranks over normally when you attempt to start the car, but the engine does not start at first attempt.can take up to 4 attempts and 15 minutes (give or take minutes)between each attempt to finally start. 3auto places and no one can find out what it wrong.this car can cause an accident when it dies out while driving.

Lowbeam headlights suddenly quit while driving causing me to almost run off road. This is directly related to the gm recall #14291 concerning the sudden failure of the hdm without any warning. The recall not cover my 2008 pontiac at this time. Was told "under investigation". This needs to be immediately addressed by gm or federal government since it is a deadly matter. Sudden loss of lights at higher speeds will cause deaths.
We purchased the vehicle from a dealer inthe tri-cities area of eastern washington in 2010. The car may have been a lease return. However one of the selling points with the car was the remote starter option. The weather in eastern oregon where we lived at the time was a life saver. However when the battery went dead and replaced at the dealer the remote start quit working. Not only quit working but it even disappeared from the vehicle dic. The remote start is even listed in the vehicle owners manual. But the dealer in medford, oregon, air port chevy/caddi cant seem to figure it out. We have had the vehicle at the dealers in medford 6 times. Even during the recall for the key fob issues and ignition switch fires, the dealers also looked into the darn failure of the remote start but they never did fix anything nor do they have any ideas as to get the thing fixed.

Went to car to go to work and found during the night the fuse box under the hood had burnt up while parked in driveway over night.
I bought this car used with low mileage, around 30,000 miles in november 2008. My headlights are not working on dim. They work fine on bright. Seems like this could be an electrical problem or a short, because the dims work at times and then will go off if you hit a bump.this has happened several times since i bought the car.warranty ran out so i took it to an individual mechanic who replaced the dimmer switch.that didn't fix the problem.i also had to replace the power steering pump within the first year or two of purchasing this car.
Bought this vehicle pre certified with warranty with 22000 miles. Within 4 months the power steering line breaks replaced under warranty. Brake sensor replaced under warrantyfront left tie rod replaced under warranty. These are problems that occurred within a 9 monthtimespan. During this time you could press on the gas and the vehicle would hesitate/stall/shake andtimes lunge forward as you try to ease forward. This occurredthe entire time i had the vehicle and they were unable to duplicate the problem when it was under thewarranty. Driving home the stability/traction control sensor lights came on,them reduced enginepower came on and the car would not drive over 15 miles. Now at 34000 miles and a indicator light showing they figured it was the sensor on the gas pedal ($360). Oh forgot to mention dealershipalso stated during that warranty timeframe unless something breaks or a indicator light comes on there is nothing they can do. After that they found i also need a front right outer tie rod ($285). Contacted gmbecause i think they should have paid for the gas pedal. To make a long short short it's being evaluated and since i didn't want to leave my car there another night or perhaps over the weekend until they confirmed with the sales manager reimbursement may not be possible. ## vin failed ##

This vehicle keeps blowing the fuse for front park lights and tail lights.without lights, cant drive vehicle at night or low light, inclement weather conditions.initial investigation/troubleshooting leads to faulty body control module.the body control module provides ground circuit for multiple electrical functions on vehicle.this problem could result in vehicle wiring harness overloading and catching fire.problem needs to be addressed with manufacturer.this fault can occur while driving or stationary.fault occurs simply by turning ignition switch to on position and/or activating the multi-function switch to activate headlights and the fuse blows immediately.simply replacing the fuse does not fix the problem.the vehicle should be diagnosed by gm dealer to validate proper function of lights/lighting system to pinpoint problem.left alone, electrical components can fail and result in vehicle electrical fire.see attached photo of fuse block showing damage to area for parking light fuse.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix.the contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle restarted after multiple attempts.the failure recurred multiple times.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The door locks on the 2008 model do not lock with remote and the drivers door key entry lock doesn't work.won't turn left or right.only one key entry on the entire car so you must use the drivers side key entry.have to keep replacing car remotes at $125.00 a piece almost yearly.have had car since 2009.keep having to get struts replaced on the right side and replace brakes on the front wheels.the lights on the gear panel keep going out and also the lights where the radio station shows is dimmed or burning out.my left headlight keeps going out.electric in the car basically an overall ongoing issue.when car is placed in reverse it doesn't reverse sometimes.i have to turn it off and restart the car then place it in reverse before it will reverse.the car shakes after going over 65mph.suspension is off.have to repair tires constantly because inner tires wear out quickly.
I was driving at dark hours with headlights on and lights just went out. Turned on bright lights and the lights worked. Turned back to dim and lights worked for about half a mile.lights went out again turned on brights and same thing as before the lights worked. I thought i seen somewhere a recall was issued for this problem. I guess i didnt.

Was driving down road and smelt a burnt odor, found out my low beams where not working. Once home, i popped the hood, opened the fuse box and found it smoking. Quickly disconnected battery cable. Further observation, found low beam relay started melting and must have caused small fire. Burnt part of the fuse box.
Anti-theft deterrent system (passcode 3?)fails to recognize and enable vehicle keys as replaced from previous (ignition) recall.car will not start, even after reset procedures per gm.vehicle stationary.new keys coded city motor, great falls, mtelectronic component blocks owner from using dealer recall keys.
2008 pontiac grand prix.consumer writes in regards to ignition switch recall problems.the local gm dealership informed the consumer, they do not replace the ignition switch. All they do, is insert a small plastic ring in the key, so the consumer cannot attach a larger key ring to the key. The consumer believed it was very deceptive and it went against the intent of fixing the problem.

Traction control warning light came on.investigated and wires from the sensor was ripped.mechanic soldered wires back together.starting to flicker and disable traction control when wheel is fully turned.causes abs system to engage when not needed.can cause accident due to increased stopping distance.
My grand prix recently started to display a message stating reduced engine power.it has been happening randomly for the past week.it only happens as i am driving the car.the car slows dramatically, and does not accelerate at all.as i was driving yesterday, i was merging into traffic where the speed limit is 45 mph, i had more than enough room to merge into traffic, the reduced engine power message displayed and the car would not accelerate.the traffic quickly caught up to me and i was almost hit due to the car not accelerating.i am curious after looking into this matter and finding so many complaints about the same issue, how many complaints need to be filed, or how many deaths need to occur before something is done?i am now scared to drive my own car.
Driving to work 25-30mph car turned of and coast down street. Tried to start and would not start. Got towed home. Two hours later starts shacked sputters. Took to mechanic says possibly the catalytic converter. Could have been a very deadly if on highway and this happened.
Reduced engine light keep coming on while driving and the vehicle lose power when try to accelerate. This has been going on for about 3 years now on and off. We have brought the vehicle to get repaired multiple times and the problem continues. The throttle body has been changed and also sensors but the problem continues.

The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic, who performed a diagnostic test which located the failure at the air injection pump. The air valve failed due to water damage. The air injection pump and air valve were replaced. The contact felt that the repair was not going to permanently correct the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,550 and the current mileage was 68,650.
I was riding on the highway and a car infront of me slammed on brakes avoiding a deer causing me to slam on brakes ever since i have had a oil leak running down the manifold. I never wrecked into the vechile in front of me i seen ondiffrent year poniac were simularrecalls were made.
When i fill my car up to full tank my car doesn't start. The ignition switch takes two tries.
Accelerated to on ramp of expressway, reached approximately 60 mph. Vehicle immediately decelerated. I pulled off to the side of the expressway and turned the car off. Attempted to turn car back on. It did not turn over. Battery was ok, engine was not. Car had to be towed to service center. Ignition control module, ignition coils, spark plug wires replaced. Hefty repair bill. One week later, accelerated to on ramp, reached 70 mph, car jerked as i attempted to increase speed. Check engine light flashed rapidly twice. Got off expressway, reached speeds up to 40 mph. Possible catalytic converter to be replaced. Both situations could have led to serious injuries.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed reduced and smoke appeared under the front passenger side hood. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 181,104.
2008 pontiac grand prix engine will automatically stop running when driving.this shuts down the power steering, brakes, etc.this has happened about a dozen times over the last year.all but two times when this happened, we were able to put the car in neutral and restart the car.two of the times, the car did not want to start - car would crank but not start.eventually we were able to get the car stated.over the past year this happened when we were driving in a city at approximate 30 mph, coasting down a hill, or stopped at a stop sign.however, we did not take this car on the highway very often so we have not had this issue happen on the highway.so far, we have been lucky and had no accidents with the car.symptom's are very similar to the gm ignition switch recall.we took the car to two repair places and the diagnostics would not show anything.we recently took the car to a gm dealer and they ran a diagnostics and they determined crankshaft position sensor code p0335.they replaced 10456161 sensor and emissions system repair.they are not 100% sure that this will fix the problem.this is a very dangerous situation and we do not allow our kids to drive the car for fear of them being killed in an accident.
Excessive loss of oil (none leaking), blue smoke from exhaust.
Back in december 2012 my car have not been driving correctly. I took it to the behlmann gmc dealership and they stated everything was fine. In jan i took my car in for an oil change and informed them that my car had still not been driving correctly on that same visit i had them do a diagnostic and behlmann stated that the machine didn't say anything transmission wise that was wrong. Now that it is april my car is feeling like its getting worsier and worsier and i took it to autozone and also another car shop and had them put the car on the machine. Both places are saying the error is saying my transmission is slipping and my transmission fluid is burning. I am very disappointed because while my car was under warranty which expired not to long ago i was getting the run around saying that the transmission was fine when all along it was indeed damaging.

The vehicle starts ok at times, but there are times when you drive itand stop some place you have a hard time restarting it. You have to let it sit for about 15 to 20 min then it will start ,there is a lot og play in the ignition, what can the cause be

The engine coolant system clogged up my thermostat and coolant turned to a brown consistency and thickened like mud. Mechanic stated that the coolant, drex, can have no fluids added, and no water unless it is distilled.i did not add any coolant or water and received no coolant low warning. I previously had car worked on one year ago for the same problem.i want all vehicles everywhere with drex for coolant recalled and repaired.drex in the cooling system is a design flaw. I think eventually in a coolant system some moisture forms from the heating up and cooling down process of a radiator and condensation forms.this would then gum up and ruin a cars cooling system and could cause the vehicle to overheat and possible the engine to be ruined. This is the second car where i had to do repairs because the drex clogged up the radiator and made my engine overheat.

P-0411 code; air control valve solenoid.my check engine light kept going on and then would go off.this process repeated a few times.bought new gas cap a few times.finally, light came on and would not go off.took it to dealer who told me it was the air control valve solenoid and it was not covered under warranty.after looking into this problem online, it seems that this is not a new problem with these cars.http://autoforum.classifieds1000.com/pontiac-grand_prix/secondary_air_pump has some listings.if you search secondary air pump; pontiac grand prix cars- you get multiple hits.

Takata recall. After driving my vehicle at night on the highway i noticed my low beam lights would not come on also no daytime running lights. I pulled over shut car off checked connections and fuses turned cat back on still no low beams. High beams and fog lights work just no low beams
2008 grand prix low beam headlights/daytime running lights work intermittently or don't work at all. Lights will work when car is started and will go out as i am driving or will not come on at all. Vin search says no recall on my year, but this same exact issue is in recall for 2007 and 2006 grand prixs. This is a safety issue for my vehicle and i have now been pulled over and ticketed by the police for having headlight issues.i have tried replacing the hdm/headlight relay fuse, but the problem has persisted. I believe the issue to be the fuse socket or fusebox itself that is overheating the hdm
Low beams on my car come on and off at the car's pleasure. High beams work fine but low beams will work then go off randomly. Fog lights work correctly as well.
Low beam headlights go off, and sometimes on again by themselves. This happens after dark, while driving.it also happens in early evening when headlights should be on .this has been happening for a few weeks .looking on the internet, i see there is a recall for this in 2007 models.
Lowbeam lights turn off at same time randomly while driving. This is very hazardous and your "safety coverage" only covers hdm modules to be replaced which is a temporary fix (lasts usually 2 months) this is widely known issue on these vehicles dating back to 2005 and if i get in a serious wreck due to your negligence i will be taking action.i'm sickened you would cover the costs of a permanent fix when your customers are such at a high risk of fatalities while driving. (this issue has been reoccurring for the last year and have come close to many accidents)
Headlights intermittently go off while driving.happens 1-3 times per month & not every time i drive the car.gm dealer tested extensively and could not duplicate in shop.suggested i drive to their shop when it happens at night again, but not open at night! gm recall on other cars with the same problem 12-2014. When i called gm they said there is no recall for the lighting issue i am suddenly having.they agreed to have the shop look at it again but per [xxx] at 866-790-5700 x [xxx], if they can't duplicate it in the shop "how can we prove there is a problem".i explained i had heard on the news that other gm car's had this exact same problem and would i need to video when it happens?he said we would start with the dealer but was not sure what would happen if they couldn't duplicate it.i am willing to try again with the excellent shop but i don't expect resolution.thank you as i suspect i am not the only one experiencing this dangerous condition.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
When i turn off my car my daytime running light will not stay off and it kills my battery. I looked online for help with this and it seems my car is not the only pontiac grand prix with this problem yet i see no recalls for this. Can you please help me?
Low beam and driving lamps keep cutting out, stop working. Sometimes they work correctly then go through a series of shut downs. Especially at night i have to use hi beams to get off the road or get home.

2008 pontiac grand prix headlights go out when heater fan is turned on.
The daytime running lights stopped working while i was driving at night. I could not turn them back on manually or by restarting the car etc. The high beams, turn signals, etc. Were not affected. The following day and for 2 weeks the problem did not reoccur that i noticed while driving during the day or night. After 2 weeks, the daytime running lights completely stopped working and i had to have the headlight relay module replaced. There is currently a recall on other gm models for this problem.

Went to car to go to work and found during the night the fuse box under the hood had burnt up while parked in driveway over night.
The headlamp module stopped working causing the low beams to go out when my daughter was driving home one evening. I researched this and found that this is a recall for cars through 2007 but gm refused to handle this on my 2008.
The headlight module (low beams) and/or fuse box, keeps faulting out. Driving at night, the headlights suddenly go out. Very dangerous. This the 3rd module ive replaced, an now im on my 2nd fuse box.this happens at all times, whether moving, stationary, or etc.
Car is turned off but headlights just randomly come on and a loud fan blowing type noise under the hood.
Back in the summer the headlights would not work on dim and took it to a mechanic and they replaced the hdm module under the hood.on december 23, 2013 the headlights would not work on dim again.had to replace the hdm module again.it appears looking on line that this is not only my problem but others as well.this is a safety issue and should be dealt with by the manufacturer.

Low beam headlights shut off during driving.have owned the car for about 8 months now and has happened 4 times randomly (3 on the interstate).the high beams will still work.just have to pull over and wait until they come back on.very frustrating & worrisome.

I left home one morning last year with my gas tank on a fourth of a tank of gas. When i got to work (20 miles away), the gas hand was on "e". When i left work that evening, the gas hand was back on a fourth of a tank. Before i could get home(20 miles away), the warning light came on that i needed fuel, however the hand was still on a fourth of a tank. The next morning, it was just below a fourth so i started to work. I ran out of gas and the gas hand was not even in the danger area. The gas tank has been off every since whenever the gas gets low in the tank and i have run out of gas on at least 4 other occasions. I feel this is a problem with grand prix's or pontiacs period but no one is reporting it because the car is no longer in production. This has been going on for over a year now and it worries me that i may run out in an area that may be dangerous or at night. I called the car company that i bought it at and was told that the warranty had run out and that since there are no recalls on this vehicle, i would have to pay to have it checked out. I am 58 years old and cannot take a chance of losing my life do to a faulty gas tank. Please respond as to how this matter can be resolved.thanks
Car is turned off but headlights just randomly come on and a loud fan blowing type noise under the hood.
My vehicle has problems with the steering. I was told by my mechanic that my rack and pinon assembly column needs replacing because of a leak. My airbags intermittent work with a passenger sitting in the front seat. My car does this weird jerking motion when i try to accelerate. I not sure if it's my transmission or my engine. I have had the ignition switch replaced in my vehicle and i haven't noticed any changes. I was gm would address my concerns because i am greatly concerned for my safety and my families.

When driving the 2008 grand prix gxp (5.3 with a 4sp automatic overdrive) at low speed the car started shuttering and slipping in gear. Made it home slowly and pulled over and checked to ensure transmission fluid full. Call dealer to file warranty claim and tried to drive to dealer and car went 1/4 mile at 10-15 mph and car transmission went completely out. No gears in reverse, drive or manual mode. Car had to be towed to dealer. This is a daily commuter car to work and home and i am working this week and has left me stranded during the holidays. No rentals available due to holidays. Complete transmission failure from a 2008 model with less than 100,000 and i put 12,000 on it since april when i bought it with 82,xxx.

Transmission failed without notice. Does not move when in drive, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. However reverse works fine.
Loud clunk when starting off. Vehicle did not shift into gears as normal. Transmission on this vehicle has been erratic for at least a year.
I was pulling into the garage and i shifted into park, my car continued rolling as if i was still in drive. I attempted to switch gears and the gear shift had no traction. It was sliding back and forth b/w the gears as my car continued moving forward. I then slid it back in park and shut the engine off to prevent the car from moving. I then could not start my car because it wasn't technically in park. The car had to be towed to the dealership and the gear shift cable had worn away/broken. Gm has recalled this issue in other pontiac and other vehicles for the same model year as my vehicle. Definitely unsure why the same issue happening in the grand prix has yet to be addressed but this is a repair that costs over $400.00. The gm csr i spoke with totally ignored my concerns regarding the gear shift cable and just wanted to speak w/ me regarding the ignition switch recall.
Delayed engagement from a dead stop, engine revved, car didn't move and then slammed into first gear.since original date, it does it sporadically as well as slips in other gears.preparing to take to dealer but from reading online, it's obvious there is a known defect in these transmissions.
Every time i accelerate giving my car gas it always feel like the transmission is locking up then it will jerk out of the lock and start picking up speed and i have talk to other peoples that have the same car ,same year or 2007 said the same thing when you stop and accelerate it does a lock like it's chattering to take off then it just jerk then pick up speed .i took it to the dealership they said it's something in the transmission i had this issue for 4 yr'snow .
I drive a 2008 pontiac grand prix gxp and have had nothing but issues with the transmission.when coming to a complete stop and then trying to accelerate the car will struggle trying to go.then we will get a big jolt as the car slips into gear.we have almost got in an accident from this as we were turning into a store and all of a sudden the car will not go.as on coming traffic is coming we pursue to try to push a little harder on the gas pedal before finally getting a big jolt and the car gets into gear. We have took the car over 9 to 10 times to dealership and filed a complaint with gm.the dealership claims that they are having issues duplicating the issue.i don't know how when it happens more than often. Its getting pretty bad and soon i have a feeling it is going to go out. We were able to get are warranty on the car extended since we have been taking it to the dealership for this issue since around 60 k miles. We are going back this week to drop it off again.feels like a torque converter and they will not check any of the transmission parts. We have even requested to pay out of pocket to take a look at the transmission and take it apart to see if they can find issues.they have declined it as if they don't want anything to do with it.i did some research and this is what they claim the issue is "converter relief valve is the main culprit in the 4t65-hd (as used in the ls4 application) tcc failures.this valve bleeds off at too high a pressure, which damages the tcc over time" upon the dealerships request we have had are transmission flushed, fuel injectors clean and on the 8th time taking it there have found that two motor mounts were broken and they claim that this is what the issue was. $1,500 dollars later after the repair we are still having nothing but issues with the transmission.gm needs to do something to get this fixed before someone gets hurt or even killed.
Transmission fluid temp is overheating
From the moment i bought the car i have been having major problems bought certified used power train warranty also bought extended warranty thru gmc .the problem has been ongoing every time took to dealership they would find other problems but what i brought the car in for which is a 2008 pontiac grand prix v8 .after i come to a complete stop the car jerks when i take off the dealer ship claims they could not find a problem i have over 10 pages of records from my visit to 2 different dealerships now car is out of all warranties i still have same problem its so bad i am scared to drive the car long distant almost had a accident due to this problem the dealership refused to look at the trans at every visit saying no codes and they could not locate the problem.
I have two issues with my transmission. My vehicle only has 39,000 miles. Rev-and-clunk starts and not starting off from a stop. This is happening more frequently as the miles rack up. I have a 2008 pontiac grand prix gxp.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. While traveling approximately 45 mph, the vehicle jerked violently and decelerated. Also, upon turning the key in the ignition, the vehicle hesitated and stalled multiple times. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.
2008 pontiac grand prix gxp v8 transmission failure. Car shudders, transmission slips, car shakes at all speeds. Dealer blamed it on tires, tires been replaced and balanced. Have balancing paper work to prove it.
2008 pontiac grand prix gxp. Slipping transmission, still under warranty, dealer says cannot replicate issue. Car vibrates horribly, slips into every gear. Dealer will not fix until transmission stops working all together. Car has been turned in for this issue 6 times. Gm needs to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After coming to a complete stop then accelerating the transmission has a 'shudder'. Occurs a few times a month. Nothing had been done to fix the problem. Car only has 36,300 miles on it. Original transmission fluid as well.
Car doesnt roll from a dead stop.
While driving seat belt light came on and continuously flashed. The light would then go off only to start flashing 15 minutes later.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the brakes failed to respond on multiple occasions. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal had to be pumped in order to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that the seatbelt sensor illuminated after the seatbelt was latched and that the air bag sensor flashed intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.
Front passenger seat presure sensor is going bad. The warning light will periodically come on and then go out after a few minutes. This would occur when the vehicle was; stationary, moving and or turning.
First time i noticed a problem i was making a sharp right turn into a parking spot driving roughly 5 mph or less. When i pushed on the brake it just pulsated much like the abs taking over but the car would not stop! i almost hit the car in front of my parking spot. I had it in a shop for other repairs and mentioned this but since at the time it was intermittent they blew it off as i must have been braking on ice. Once it started to warm up in the spring and in the summer it started happening more and more but only when turning. I had a few close calls where i had almost crashed. When it happens now the dash will display service abs and service traction control system. It did not display that back when it was intermittent. I have since pulled the abs fuse and while the same service lights come on at least i have brakes! i think it was 5 or so months earlier that i had my front right wheel bearing replaced by a pontiac dealer and i hear that because the wheel bearing and speed sensor are one of the same that i may need that replaced again. This is not safe and the more people i talk to they have heard or experienced this as a common issue.
While leaving my parking space, tapped the brake pedal, brake pedal seemed to resist being applied. While still in the parking lot, trying to stop, noticed the brakes pulsating as if the abs system was trying to kick on. With similar resistance as before as pulsating ceased. Happens daily now. Today 9/4/12 the abs & traction control lights both came on showing both need serviced. Each time this has occurred, the pavement has been dry without any apparent gravel at the locations.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the brake lights illuminated randomly without depressing the brakes. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic, who recommended that the contact spray wd40 on the brakes and then referred the contact to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000. Thecurrent mileage was 130,000.

Engine power reduced warning light came on and car has minimal acceleration not allowing to go over 40 mph. Antilock break and traction control lights both on. Breaking issue when this happens causing breaks to hesitate. All issues listed happen while in motion on city street & highway, while going straight & turning and when breaking.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix.while driving 55 mph after purchasing the vehicle, the paint began peeling.the dealer stated that the failure was caused by exposure to acid rain and they offered to re-paint the vehicle.the contact also felt a hard vibration when depressing the brake pedal and accelerating to 55-65 mph.the failure mileage was 400 and current mileage was 800.
Under hardhigh speed braking the front brakes shudder badly causing a severe front end shimmy due to warped rotors making stopping difficult.if pressure on pedal is not released this could cause loss of control and a crash.it is worse if going downhill.this is a very common issue on gm cars build in the last 8 years. There are posts all over the internet about this.the problem is with poorly made brake rotors that warp at under 15,000 miles of normal use.i have had the same issue with my wife's 2003 impala.these cars should be recalled and the rotors replaced with parts of adequate quality.if you can get the issue addressed underwarranty, the dealer will only either turn the defective rotors or replace them with the same oem junk.the only fix ihave found it to replace them with aftermarket rotors and pads.
2008 grand prix gxp front wheel cracked, losing air with 24k miles. The week before it was brake pads and rotors. Total out of pocket expenses 1,200.00 in two weeks. I find this absolutely unacceptable for a car with bumper to bumper coverage. Just exactly what do they cover? last i checked my wheels were between my bumpers, and if gm can't build a car road worthy of a michigan winter they should not be allowed to sell them here. This would be alot easier to swallow if it were a used car, but new with 24k miles is absurd!
Brakeline connection under vehicle (in front of where driver sits) could become cracked or broken if knocked by road debris, or bumps in the road. I noticed this on my 2008 grand prix gxp, so not sure if this model sits lower to the ground than other grand prix models. Watching reservoir fluid level to determine how much is lost over a month.i discovered after noticing a burnt fluid smell in the cabin after 16 mar 2012. Particularly strong after hard brake situationi was told by local dealer that there was no warrenty on this vehicle, and that the parts may not be available anymore.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel seized and the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle and after several attempts the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing, but the vehicle was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
We have had the power steering pumped changed 4 times in the last 2 years. 2012-2014.
Right tie rod ends threads stripped at 43000 mile under normal use.
Have had 2 motor accident and the air big never deployment

Had the power steering replaced 3 times in the last 3 years. Talked to others that have the same car they also have the same problem with the power steering unit leaking. My company had several grand prix's as a company car for years they also expressed this was a problem. I've had the lines burst on this unit as well. Also many of them said they didn't fix this they just keep adding fluid weekly.my thought is was thats not good for the environment. I lost all power when the high pressure line burst while going down the express way at 70 mph. Not cool!
Had to replace power steering pump in 2010, and now in 2012 replaced again.
The contact owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the steering wheel seized and excessive force on the steering wheel was required. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

The contacts owns a 2008 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the molding for three passenger doors warped. The failure persisted for three years. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the molding for all passengers doors needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was unknown.

The dealer stated that the molding needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

I recently purchased a 2008 pontiac grand prix from enterprise used car. They let me drive it around the block, it was comfortable.while i was driving it home on the freeway, it started to shake really bad. When i got off of the freeway i could hear this thunk in the back tire.so the next day i took it back and told them i don't want this car something is wrong with it. So they put it in the shop, and i test drove other vehicles. This took a couple of days. At the end of the week, i didn't find anything i liked.they told me my car was done, i told them i didn't want that car. They ended up pushing it on me. They said they put new tires on it. While i was driving home on the frwy, it started shaking at 65mph.i don't want this car.and they tell me they cant take it back. I feel they sold me an unsafe car. What can i do for them to take back their 15,000.00 unsafe lemon?
Tpms valve stem on lf wheel corroded and began to leak. The leak appeared from the depths of the threads between the valve stem cap and retainer nut. No noticeable signs of corrosion on the exterior of the threaded portion of the stem. The wheel was not impacted in any way, the tire simply started losing 4-6psi per day.

Driving on the highway or anywhere, it happens every other day.the information message center chimes then the check engine light comes on the car slows down to 25mph.when i am on the highway this is very dangerous.i have taken it to 3 differentservice stations, the last 2 dealerships. All the codes are throttle related and i get the car back after a week or 2 and the same thing happens again.no one can fix it. I have emailed gm they did not respond to my email.i attached all the service records with the email hoping they would be able to help.slowing me from 70mph down to 25mph on the highway (us131) will cause an accident sooner not later. Its only a matter of time before this happens. Gm doesn't seem to care.i'm not sure what to do, no one can fix the car and i'm running out of money for repairs.

Reduced engine light keep coming on while driving and the vehicle lose power when try to accelerate. This has been going on for about 3 years now on and off. We have brought the vehicle to get repaired multiple times and the problem continues. The throttle body has been changed and also sensors but the problem continues.
