My daughter was driving on a gravel road, going around a curve. Another vehicle came around the curve from the opposite direction and hit her head on. Both air bags failed to deploy. My daughter (driver) and a passenger both had minor head injuries due to hitting the windshield. The car is considered a total loss. I was never notified of any recall on the air bags. Both girls had to seek medical attention due to the concern of head injury and/or concussion, resulting in medical costs.

My daughter was driving my caron a snow day and shestepon brake and the car spineand hit bridge base .damage only the frontbumper cover , nothing elseim talking about light damage andi don't understandwhythe bothdriver and passenger bags sploud.., the passenger bagwas so powerfullthat crack the wind shield ,ifyou want me to send a picture iwill. Ijust wanna findoutwhythis bag not work right , andwho'sgoing to beresponsible for this mess.thanks.

Air bags did not deploy with front end damage

We were traveling west bound on 28th street which has two lanes each direction plus a turning lane. We were in the right lane and the left lane traffic had come to a stop. As we came up to the stopped car a pickup truck was turned left into our lane trying to cross both lanes. He came across pretty fast and we hit the front left bumper pretty much dead center. I stepped on the brakes as hard as i could he was just to close to avoid him. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts did not lock up right away they extended to far out before they locked. My face hit the steering wheel andbent up my glasses and my stomach and from my middle back to the middle of my hip where the buckle is. I've been having a headache, blurry vision and miserable eye pain and pain down my neck and tingling fingers. Er doc said sprained neck and back.my wife has huge bruises across her body. She is suffering from neck pain, head pain, headaches, leg pain, pelvic pain and is nauseous and has been vomiting. The impact was hard enough to push the truck about 15 feet sideways. It ripped hook from the hood and bent the hood up.the passenger side fender got pushed back into door so hard to open and fender was caved in when door was pried open. The battery box was bent. Wipers were bent, windshield got broke. The bumper and grilled was pushed back and air vents ripped free. Headlights were broken. Insurance company totaled the car. I asked the guy at the lot why the bags didn't go off and he said he was surprised because it was obvious to him that there was more than one sensor had been hit. Of course waiting the week like the er doc said to wait to see our own docs and being a holiday weekend just delay things. My laptop screen got broke and so much is going to come out of my own pocket. They than tell me i have to pay sales tax on the money i'm getting for the car. Updated 1/28/2015

I purchased this vehicle from a lady she was selling it. A couple weeks later i started having problems with the ignition. When i try to turn my car off by turning the key backwards it gets stuck and i have to sit there andand constantly jiggle the key until i'm able to get it to release. This happens about once a week but sometimes twice a day there is even times i can't get the key out so i'm forced to leave it like that requiring a jump the next day. I just want to know if my car is on the recall list for the faulty ignition switch.

The ignition key gets stuck and cannot be removed. This is intermittent. Dealer could not fix the problem.

The multi function switch has malfunctioned this is a common occurrence on these cars.the malfunction of this switch has meant that the brake lights do not work causing someone to run into the back of my car as i was slowing in traffic. The shift lever lock will not engage leaving the keys unable to be removed and the shifter can be moved out of park without the brake pedal being pressed.the ignition switch and harness malfunction causing the fan to not work in anything but 5.look at the message boards all three a common occurrence and worse gm knows of these problems and have refused to address them.

Routinely experiences ignition switch problems.key can be removed while car is still running and from other switch positions.one time the key was removed in the accessories position by mistake, and unknowingly the battery drained, requiring a aaa service visit.this 2002 auto should be included in the recall on other year grand prix ignition switches as it is unsafe.

Low oil level indicator will initially turn off when starting vehicle and will come back on and stay on. If vehicle is turned off and restarted low oil level indicator will turn off and stay off. Oil level is ok. Vehicle has been to dealer at least twice and they have not been able to duplicate the problem.

I believe that there may be a relationship between all of these electrical problems involving the ignition switch / shifter interlock systems on the pontiac grand prix and fires involving the same vehicle (the affect years not know) ours is a 2002 and we have not had a fire yet.but we have had problems removing the ignition key after we park the car.if by some chance that there is some electrical contact still being made because of the defect (removal of the ignition key) then there can be a chain of cause to start a fire. I believe that the nhtsa need to fully investigate these claims.i have been a fire fighter for over 20 years and a fire investigator for well over 15 years, and i have seen numerous times before that were there is a electrical problem over a period of time there will be a fire, sometimes sooner than later.

On our 2002 pontiac grand prix 3.1l sfi ohv 6cyl, a/c fan started cutting off and on and one day just started a fire we didn't have the money for full coverage so the car now sites in the front yard with a tarp over it. But i know this should not have happened. Please help me with this the car was sitting in a wal mart parking lot early on this morning my wife went shopping she had the keys and the car was turned off and no one was in it and it just started on fire where the a/c fan is and burned a hole through the windshield and into the firewall and burned the inside a lot.

Ignition switch is bad. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. I have already replaced the starter and the problem persists.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated when initially starting the vehicle that air conditioner would not engage. The headlights were also inoperable and the contact stated the only way the two components would operate was if the key was turned in the ignition swiftly when first starting.the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000 and the current mileage was approximately 102,000.

2002 grand prix the gm passlock is faulty.flashes does not reset and car will not start.was stranded in parking lot and had to have towed and repaired.

My 2002 pontiac grand prix gt had the following issue which i believe should be a recall. - i was driving my vehicle when my heater blower motor shut off. I would drive for a few more minutes then it would come back on. This would happen at the freq of 1 time per month. The freq began to increase to the point is was several times per km. Off, on, off, on etc. I eventually took it to the dealer, it was a wire harness $ 500.00maintenance is what it is, but the same problem turns the headlights off ( not dash lights ) and rear defrost off. In the summer i was driving my vehicle and my headlights were flashing a pedestrian walking infront of my vehicle. It was then i realized the headlights were affected. This is an fyi

Just coming home from work on a friday, pulled into a gas station to filler up.and noticed key was stuck in ignition having all power still running through car. Got it home and did some research and come to find out there's a solenoid in the steering column that attaches to two wires leading out to computer.any others out there experiencing third problem maybe we can get enough defects for these corporate guys to give us a product that's going last without some computer bs emptying our pockets for such little (use to be ) simple fixes.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. Approximately ten minutes after the vehicle was parked, it caught fire. The contact did not disclose who extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

Pulled into the garage and turned the car off.the ignition switch turned enough to turn the car off but not far enough to remove the key.tried jiggling the key back and forth and it still would not come out.left key in ignition and pushed the trunk release button on the key fob, the trunk opened and then the car tried to start itself without anything turning the key.then smoke started coming out from behind the steering wheel.the car was stuck in park and could not get into neutral to push out of garage.i believe finally a fuse popped.i opened the hood and disconnected the battery and the smoke stopped.i called the dealer to check and see if there was a recall that i missed but they told me there were no recalls relating to the ignition.i took some of the plastic off under the steering wheel and found that about half of the ignition wiring harness was burned up and melted.

Driving on highway, back driver's side window comes crashing down into car door, for no reason. Then back passenger window stops working completely, a few weeks later. Driver's side window starts sliding down as car is in motion after turning corner, i grabbed window trying to hold onto it, so it wouldn't drop all the way down into the door, rushing home so my husband could tape up the window till we could get it fixed. Now the front electronic passenger window will not move up or down. This has happened within a few months of each other for " no explainable reason". My husband and i are in our 50's, with no children or passenger's in the car, and have never had this happen to any car we've owned in the past. Help, we know this is very dangerous and not normal!

My vehicle stalled while i was driving on a busy 5 lane road (2 lanes going each way - and a turn lane).i could tell that it was about to stall and was about to turn into a business parking lot.my vehicle completely stalled in the turn lane.i was fortunate that i was not hurt and that there was no accident.i was able to put the hazard lights on as soon as my car was dead.fortunately, i had a cell phone and i was able to call roadside assistance.

Rain/car wash water pouring into blower motor down through passenger floorboard.it is causing not only water damage, but electrical issues as well.have had to replace blower motor resistor and the motor itself.have only had this motor less than a year and it is already starting to make noise.have attempted several fixes including a new rubber seal diverter and most recently, a new plastic diverter which is fitted under the cowling to no avail.please help.

Key stuck in the ignition at 85,000 miles.car was in park and engine was off (though key would not turn all the way back to it's normal off position).had to remove bottom cover on steering column in order to press a button on solenoid to release the key. This is now consistently happening every time i drive the car.considering removing solenoid completely to bypass this safety feature.dealer is going to charge at least $300 to fix this problem, but i have noticed this is a very common complaint with this vehicle.this should be a recall and the company should strive to produce a higher quality product.

Complete failure of electrical system. First occurrence caused complete lock-up of ignition, steering, transmission, and fuel systems. (april, 2002) second failure caused failure to start, and resetting of all electronics. Dealer has attributed to battery failure and replaced same. Am concerned that a system failure will occur during vehicle operation causing loss of steering, brakes, etc. That could result in a severe crash.

The head lights flickered on and off as if they were being turned on and off.the dealer has been contacted.please describe further.

I have a 2002 grand prix se that will sometimes just not want to start.everything works the lights fuel, pump runs but the car just acts like the ignition isn't making contact.i've had just about everything replaced but the problem is still there.after doing some research it turns out gm and honda both have the problem but only honda is fixing it.

I bought this car used and the warranty had run out andthe ignition froze up so i could not get the key out this one day.i played with the key and tried to move the shift lever and it was frozen along with the steering wheel. I left the car alone for about an hour came out and the key came out and everything worked good.over the years this happened alot and finally i got on the internet and one guy said there is a hole by the ignitionswitch that you can put a pencil in very carefully and if you move it around it will release the tumbler and key. I did that and put a pencil in there and broke it off and it has worked every time but the steering wheel don't lock and you can take the key out while driving or any time. I talked to gm dealers over the years and they wanted too much money to put a new ignition switch in$500-to $600 . I could not afford it.there are hundreds of grand prix pontiacs like my year and make on the internet that complained about the same problem. Now this recall conveniently misses the 2002 grand prix pontiac. I'm just lucky i did not have a problem while driving and i don't know if my air bags work or not.

2002grand prixif it was humid or damp the key would get stuck in start grinding the starter. When we would take it in they said there was nothing wrong. It happened about once a week.on july 7 when i started the car the key was stuck grinding the starter. This time it would not turn back i didn't know what to do. Then it started to smoke and stopped running. I had to pull the battery i had burnt out the starter. I t had to be towed and a knew ignition and started was put in the auto repair said they see this alot, hopefully it didn't hurt the engine.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. After parking the vehicle, the key failed to release out of the ignition and the shift light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the ignition start switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. My vehicle startedacting funny when i would turn on my heat the dash lights go off they said it is a faulty ignition switch

2002 pontiac grand prix gt.after engaging hazard warning switch to on, then to off, brake lights fail to work. Have to wiggle hazard switch to get brakes working again.all brake lights go out after hazard switch is turned off. Faulty turn signal-hazard switchmodule. Uncertain if brake lights are working unless constant checking. Have to continue to wiggle hazard switch button to get them to function again. Very dangerous.

While traveling approximately 20 mph, and making a left turn in traffic, theengine lost power and shut off unexpectedly, all electrical functions continued to operate, this problem occurred approximately six more times intermittently while traveling at various speeds, dealership has examined the vehicle three times, and could not reproduce the problem. Consumer also stated the alternator makes a loud humming noise through the radio, there is a rattle noise from the left wheel /suspension area, and there is a hole in the rear interior of the door panel, the front passenger seat has a ripple in the leather.

When shutting engine off the key will not release from the ignition.

Intermittent problem with key not releasing from ignition.

Key stuck in ignition. At first, i was about to pay $700 to have this fixed. I searched the internet and found that there is a button under the steering column that you can depress and it will release the key. Use the tilt to lift the steering column, feel for a button and press. This may take a minute to get used to. I can now do it without tilting the column. I will do this for the life of the ownership for the car before i pay $700 to have it fixed.i called the dealership and asked them why they would look at my vehicle and give me an estimate but not alert me to the temporary fix, and they said it is against company policy.

Unable to extract key from the ignition after putting the car in park.in most failures, i have had to restart the car and go back through all of the gears and put it back into park then remove the key.i work with an individual with the same year car and she recently had the same issue.her car was under the extended warranty, but to repair the problem it would have cost over $1000 if she had not had the warranty.i believe the issue relates to the transmission not shifting fulling into park.

I have a burgundy 2002 grand prix.whenever i turn it on, it has an extended crank.it sounds like it is struggling to turn on.i have taken it to the dealer three times and am scheduled to take it in again a fourth time.the last time i was there they told me that all of the 2002 models had an extended crank and that there was probably nothing that could fix it.

The key is stuck in the ignition. I am unable to take it out even when all gears have been switched to park. The were no events that gave me warning any thing was wrong with the ignition. At this point this is the 3rd pontiac grand prix ranging in years 2001-2003 that i have known this to happen to. The key is still stuck in there. Price quotes i have got range from $1,000.00- $2,000.00 depending on if they have to reset the airbag.

Dt: the contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The security system is too sensitive because the car will lockand he has to wait for 20 minutes to move the vehicle. This will occur if the key is dirty or anythingthat will trigger the anti-theft system. He does not mind that the car has this feature.but the feature is too sensitive. This occurred a lot here lately. The contact contacted the manufacturer, andthey told him that they could not reset the system, and there was nothing they could do about this vehicle because this wassimply the way it was made.

1)none2)when parking my 2002 grand prix se it more often than not, will not release the key.the engine will turn off however, the switch will not turn back completely to release the key.3)the only solutions that only sometimes work are to a) move to a different parking spot and try turning the car off again which rarely works, b) turning the steering wheel back and forth until a "click" is heard then key can be taken out, or c)sometimes just moving the shifter from park down through all gears and back to park again sometimes works. And d)just letting the car sit for over 5 minutes or so with no action being taken and then a "click" is heard and the key can then be released.see www.automotiveforums.com and search "key stuck ignition switch" for numerous complaints exactly like this for all years of pontiac grand prix's.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the engine remained on when the key was removed from the ignition. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. (1) no events(2) ignition switch key won't come out(3) nothing done so far as dealer can not give definite answer on what needs repair or replacement...either they have no idea as to the source of the problem or they are running a scam to bleed my bank account........others have posted similar messages on forums with negative results and hundreds or thousands of dollars in repairs without solving the problem.......most likely response found was replace the parking lock relay.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when the heater was activated and the automatic headlights and rear defroster failed. In addition, the failures occurred when the air conditioner was activated. The failure was intermittent and progressed. 10/31/05 car cleaned at car wash.11/01/05 noticed a window cleaner smell, while driving coming through the air vents for a minute.11/12/05, 12:45 p.m. Drove the car 6 minutes to a hair salon.1:45 p.m. Started for home, parked at convenience store, left car running with my permanently disabled husband inside.proceeded home noticed the window cleaner smell again.1:58 p.m. Parked in condominium parking lot.2:20 p.m. Our neighbor told me our car is on fire.there were flames 10' high coming off the front of my car.a loud explosion occurred and the police and firemen were shouting to get back down the hill and get the children all the way down the hill!i told the officer that i was the owner of the burning car.our neighbor told me her toyota was parked on the right of mine and it was on fire too.when the fire was out, the police officer told me the honda cr-v on the left of my car was also burned, and they would notify theowner.2:35 p.m. A fireman got the registration and personal belongings out for me.before my car was towed away, i took pictures and asked the tow truck owner, if he could give a reason my car burned up.he said it looks electrical to me.sunday, 11/13/05, 3:00 p.m. Our son-in-law, a fire inspector for the clifton fire department came to the unofficial conclusion that, it looks electrical due to the burn pattern.i reported the fire to my insurance carrier and general motors corporation.i was contacted by esis for gmc, and supplied all the details, pictures and copies of repair orders.this is a potential for fatalities and many more of these engine fires will occur if the cause is not found.

While driving the vehicle, the onstar communications system activated 4 times on it's own before consumer noticed that the vehicle was on fire. The onstar communications box is located in the left, rear corner of the vehicles trunk.vehicle was towed and has been inspected, however vehicle has not been repaired.consumer has repeatedly contacted manufacturer and service manager as to when the repairs would commence, but consumer has yet to receive a satisfactory response.

Vehicle was parked and burned. Electrical fire.

Headlight and dashboard lights flash intermittently, approximatley every 2 seconds. Had it looked at twice by aw golden pontiac in reading pa and was told my car "was known to do that, and it can't be fixed."also, i can leave it there "for the mechanic to drive it home at night, so he can see what i'm talking about." my car does not have this problem everytime i drive at night, maybe every other night, but it is no-stop when it starts. Drivers in front of me hit their brakes, because they think i'm flashing them. I can see this causing a problem if i have to deal with a person having road rage.

While vehicle was parked ingarageit caught on fire and burnedgarage and most of the house.fire started incomputer area. Contacted dealer, anddealer was not willing to do anything.

My entire electrical system is faulty. When i turn on my heater the lights do not work. My dash lights do not work all the time. My rpm's go crazy my digital system does not come on. This is whether the case is stationary or moving

The fire department exstinguised the fire. No injuries were sustained. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

After ten minute drive from work to home, parked the car & 5 min. Later was informed by a neighbor that the car was on fire! i did not smell burning or anything unusual when i parked it. The flames were coming out of the air intake on the hood and burning plastic was dripping off below. My small fire extinguisher settled down the flames, however by the time the fire department arrived the fire and smoke had become larger than before. The car is now totaled and although i had previously received a notice for a earlier recall, and taken the car in to the dealer, i never received a notice for the fire issue. The representative at gm claims division said since the car was more than ten years old (despite the fact i bought it from the pontiac dealer more recently) i had no recourse.after very little research i found this same scenario all over the internet and assume it will only become more common as these cars continue to age.hopefully a class action lawsuit will emerge as those people who lost their investment in their vehicle continue to grow.

Can not start up again after shut down have to wait till cars cools down.

Vehicle would randomly just shut off while driving.there would be no indication beforehand(like sputtering or stalling). It would just completely shut off sometimes while driving at a regular speed sometimes at a stop. I would lose all power steering power brakes etc. I contacted pontiac and they told me that there was a letter (not a recall) sent out on this car that could have a catalytic converter. They set up an appt. With a local dealer. Car was taken there to have converter checked (which they said was ok) and also to fix what was causing car to shut off. Bottom line, they informed me car was showing numerous codes on computer. I told them i only wanted to fix what was causing vehicle to shut off.they informed that any one of the codes could cause the problem. I left there with a bill over 1500.00 and vehicle shut off on me within 2 days of repairs(which we later argued would not cause the particular problem).they had me bring car back and told me there was nothing they could do unless it threw a code. With all the gm ignition problems, just wondering if perhaps this could be my problem also but have yet to see my car on recall. Any help or who i contact/complain to would be greatly appreciated. I have become very nervous driving and have grandchildren that i don't want to transport if this is a safety issue because it can go several days ok then sometimes will shut off several times a day at random times. Afraid that one day it will shut off and cause a crash as i have been close several times.

I bought the car august 2013 and it seems like the cooling system has the issues. The engine light as well as the low coolant light have always been on even though there were sufficient coolant. I saw there was a recall regarding the issues back in 2008 or 2009. I called them today and they told me the recall has been closed. I checked the car fax and there was no recalled done on this car. Every time when i am driving, i kept looking at the engine temperature. Every time when i am driving, i am worry there will be a burning smell. It is a such metal burden for me. I wish i could buy a newer car, but i am a medical student and i cannot afford too much for the car. Please let me know if the recall is still open.

Last monday i was going to the ball field to watch my nephew practice baseball. I pulled in, shut my car off and went to get the stroller out of my trunk for my daughter. I started to see smoke, and then i started smelling it also. I hurried and got my daughter into the stroller and then saw the smoke starting to get heavier. I popped my hood and opened it and it was in flames. I tried to get water but i didn't have none. I then called 911 and the fire squad came and put the fire out. I had no clue at the time why in the world my car caught on fire i was just excited that neither my daughter or i were harmed. Unfortunately i only have liability on my car so there was nothing i could do for it. I decided to search google that night and see if this had happened to others before and there i found out that there had been a recall on my car for engine fires. I had no clue there had been a recall done in 2009 for my car. Was wondering if someone could help me out with my situation.

As i pulled into my garage, i noticed there was a lot of smoke coming from the engine compartment. When i opened the hood, i found the engine cover was on fire, the foam on the under side of the cover was melting and dripping onto the hot engine. I took the cover off and put the fire out without damage to the electrical or spark plug wires. I did follow through on the recall several years ago when it was reported that the oil could catch fire on the reflector guard on the front of the engine, that is gone, but this seems to be made out of plastic on the top of the engine, sliding into a hole at the rear and held in place by the oil cap. Is it safe to run this without the cover? will the engine catch the insulation under the hood on fire? i have owned this since new and have taken very good care of it, still in very good condition with the exception of this issue.

Takata recall! as i was driving on the freeway my car shut off and the wheel locked up! my dad got everything on my car replace but it still does the same thing!

My pontiac grand prix 2002 caught fire in my driveway a mere 10 minutes after i got out of the vehicle. 5 days later i received a letter stating that there was a recall on my car for engine compartment fires. I contacted gm who took responsibility for the recall and they refused to compensated for the damage the fire did to me car. The fire was due to the exact recall that gm sent me in the mail. They neglected to notify me, until my car had already been totaled from the damage. They now say my car was "out of warranty" and refuse to help. If its "out of warranty" why did they said me a notice saying they would repair the recall free of charge. If they take responsibility for the recall how can they not take responsibility for the damage that the recalled part caused? i could have been in the vehicle, my house was a mere two feet from the car and the fire and could have burned down.

On 12/23/2012 at 7:15pm we just arrived home & parked our 2002 pontiac grand prix in our garage.about 3 minutes later my daughter went into the garage & came to get me telling me our garage was filled with smoke.our car was on fire.i tried to release the hood but it did not release.i tried to start the car to drive it out of the garage it turned over but didn't start.i tried to put it in neutral.the gear shift moved inneutral position but the car would not release.the doors automatically locked.my brother in law and family just happened to come in the middle of these events.he hooked a chain to the car and drug it out of our garage with his 4x4 truck.the drivers window was broken to regain access to the car and try the hood release again.the hood would still not release.a pry bar was used to force the hood open.buckets of water were continually thrown on the car during this entire event.once the hood was open the fire was put out.the car is a total loss.

On november 4th, 2015- when we started our car a loud popping sound was heard, immediately we turned the ignition off. Thinking maybe it wasn't the car that made a sound, we restarted the car. The rpm's shot up and white smoke starting filling the interior of the car. Turn ignition back off and jumped out and opened the hood, thinking it may have been the radiator that cracked. The engine compartment was on fire. Fire was extinguished. Recall 15757 wasn't received until december 2015. Car intermittently stalls from slow speeds (<30 mph) or after starting from a complete stop.complete and almost immediate loss of motor and power steering making it difficult, if not impossible, to steer.will sometimes not stay running right after starting.might take two or three attempts to get vehicle to start.crank sensor replaced, mass airflow sensor cleaned.no codes or check engine light so no good way to troubleshoot.this is extremely dangerous as it can stall at any time without warning.will usually start again within a minute but then will stall out again at any moment without warning.

As im driving the vehicle stalls and turns off..then i hv to put it on neutro and turn it back on then it turns on like if nothing and stops again. It shuts down while im driving on freeway busy streets everywhere and i almost got hit straight on cause the car just turn off and stopped in the middle of intersection.

My name is [xxx]and the purpose of this notification is to file a formal complaint against the general motors corporation.i was the registered owner of a 2002 pontiac grand prix and through my research, i am aware of an active recall on this vehicle due to a small oil leak that could result in an engine fire.i no longer own the above said vehicle as the vehicle was deemed a total loss in an engine fire that resulted from a small oil leak .on may 6th, 2014, my husband was driving the vehicle home from work and observed smoke coming from under the hood.he parked the vehicle outside of our home and upon opening the hood, a fire erupted from under the engine.after further investigation from the orland park fire protection district, the cause of the fire was determined to be electrical that originated from the wire harness due to drops of hot oil from a small oil leak.this was also confirmed by a certified master automobile technician.i have since attempted to contact the general motors corporation to tile a complaint regarding the matter, but general motors has never responded to my complaint nor have they attempted to contact me regarding the issue.it is my belief that the general motors corporation has had knowledge of this ongoing problem and because no remedy has been determined by the general motors corporation to resolve this matter, i believe that they should be held accountable for the loss of my vehicle and their failure to communicate the faulty issue and their failure to properly investigate the matter.it is also my belief that the general motors corporation should be held financially responsible for the loss of my vehicle by compensation or replacement of my vehicle.i am also submitting photographs that were taken after the fire was extinguished by the orland park fire protection district.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takata recall 15757. Drops of engine oil may be deposited on the exhaust manifold through hard braking. This condition could cause an engine compartment fire. So i took the car to doan buick gmc and the valve rocker arm cover and the gasket were replaced on 8/5/16. Then i was told that the rear valve cover and lower intake are leaking oil but may have other leaks. Which this was not part of the recall. So expects me to pay out-of-pocket for this. Also the transmission cooler lines are leaking some but not really bad. So he topped it off with 3 quarts of transmission fluid. When i would turn on the acthe car engine idled down and struggled to accelerate and will jerk. I had to turn the ac off so the car can pick up speed.now its running fine for now.

Recall notice 15v701 has been issued and i was informed by gm in feb, 2016 that parts are now available.however, this is not the case per my local dealership.they stated they received only 5 repair kits and have a backlog of people waiting for parts to come in so their vehicles can be repaired.someone needs to find out from gm why parts are not available and when they will be available.the risk of engine compartment fires will not be eliminated until repairs are done.what is the gm doing about this and what is the nhtsa doing to get gm to resolve this 'no parts' situation?

Gunk in my engine causing lifters to stick.

My former vehicle, a 2002 pontiac grand prix, had a safety recall to prevent "engine compartment fire."i had that recall fixed on september 22, 2011.on october 23, 2011, i drove it from work to home, approximately three miles.myself and passenger parked, and took a few things inside.we noticed a burning smell, like plastic and a faint electrical smell, and thought someone was burning trash, as i had never smelled that from my vehicle before.i went right back out to get something, and saw smoke billowing out from under the hood.i popped the hood, and saw the glow of fire; we grabbed fire extinguishers, and put out the fire, which was located in part on the plastic hood cover over the engine.the car was declared a total loss after about a week of shuffling it around and calling for parts.upon further research, it appears that this has happened many times, including others like myself, whose engine caught after fixing the recall.there are also suggestions that the part fixed on the recall is not the true origin of the problem.then again, gm's fix for the oil splashing over the manifold it is to put on spark plug wire retainers.it is very dangerous, and i hesitate to think what would have happened if i had been driving, possibly with passengers, when it caught fire.

The intake manifold gasket on my 3.8 liter pontiac engine failed, causing antifreeze to leak into the crankcase. The top end of the engine had to be disassembled to install the new "improved" gasket set. I have a 2002 pontiac grand prix se.it is a 4 door.i have had to replace the manifold gaskets twice with in 9 months.i started to notice that i did not have any heat.i took it to a mechanic and they said that my gaskets were leaking.i was told it would run me around $900.the parts were about $76.the labor was the majority of it.i was then told i had to have my oil changed and thermostat.this had caused my thermostat to go out.i had it replaced. About 9 months later the same thing happened.no heat and ect.took it to the same mechanic and he said it should've lasted longer.he checked to see if it would still be under warranty and it was not. Gm only guaranteed this job for 6 months.i again had to replace the gaskets.gm had put in plastic gaskets instead of metal gaskets.i again had to pay additional $800.i checked on the recalls for this and there weren't any.i also googled this complaint and have found many other people with the exact same thing go on with their vehicles.my family has always been a gm family, but we have now elsewhere.my brother is a salesman and he says that gm products are the first to go and they wear out the easiest.pretty sad when a salesman you know doesn't enjoy selling gm products.anyway, my point is this needs to be taken care of and gm needs to step up and take on the responsibility for this defect.they are losing enough business the way it is.i think they need to man up and stand up to their defects.i work in the oil and gas industry and i can tell you this, gm products are not purchased by any of the companies, because they are not reliable to go an even 80,000 miles.

Car was parked in a sloped drive-way. Was not drivin in a few hours. Heavy smoke from wheel wells. Entire engine compartment was completely engulfed in flames within 8 minutes. Fire department was called, they extinguished fire within minutes. Luckily my car was not parked in my garage.

I parked my car outside of babysitter's house to pick up mydaughter.was inside about 10-15 min when smoke started billowing out from under the hood!the engine had caught fire!luckily, myself and my daughter were not inside at the time.come to find out, later, there is a recall on my vehicle for 'engine compartment fires'....nice to find out afterwards!i bought the car from an authorized pontiac dealer....thanks for the warning jerks!!guess everyone is greedy...no matter at what cost to innocent buyers.

There was a recall #id#08v118000 concerning the front rocker cover gasket and eventual oil seepage.i was told by the dealer that the recall was addressed and parts were replaced.shortly after the recall i was told by the dealer that the valve cover gaskets were leaking and later verified that the rocker cover was the same as the valve cover.after 3 oil changes (scheduled) i was told it should be taken care of and the cost would be 1,300.00. I asked them about the recall and was told my vehicle was not part of the recall 2002 pontiac grand prix. I called pontiac and they told me it was part of the revision recall 09047 that only covered the spark plugs.i'm confused, i don't know why my vehicle was not part of the original recall, however, was part of the revision.it appears that the problem i am having should be covered under this recall.has anyone else had a similar problem or is there any assistance/advice you can give me.thank you.

I have a random and intermittent starting problem that my professional mechanics cannot solve and for which there is no diagnostic code or even a check engine alert.sometimes when i try to start the car, it will crank but not turn over, and eventually, nothing happens.if i wait 2 hours, the car will start. Also, the car has stalled and not restarted for an hour when it is put into park.it has stalled when i started it and pulled away from refueling, and it sometimes idles roughly as if it is going to stall at any second which, at times, it has done.i paid professionally certified gm and other mechanics on several occasions to investigate this issue with no results.in the past, i had the exhaust system repaired by gm.i have had fuel lines, the alternator, the thermostat, the starter, the battery, the exhaust, and other things on the car investigated as possible sources of the problem.other work done has been a gasket replacement, because one was leaking, and routine maintenance.i have had several electronic diagnostic checks run, and nothing comes up.i have maintenance and upkeep done regularly on this car, so it is not that the car is not properly taken care of.it gets regular oil changes, had the transmission, radiator and brake flushes done at appropriate times, and is checked over every fall as a precaution.however, my car absolutely cannot be relied upon to drive any distance.the problems occur with short or long trips and in all types of weather, whether i drive fast or slow, or whether i am in heavy or light traffic, although after driving in heavy traffic is when it seems to not want to start the most.i think that gm should be able to provide a possible reason for these issues.i have had this issue since i first bought the car, and i am tired of investing money into trying to solve a problem which has all the mechanics mystified, including gm ones.

I went to the store(wal-mart) with two of my children on january 3rd 2007, after we were in the store for about ten minutes my license plate was paged by the customer service counter, as i approached the counter i overheard people saying that there was a car on fire in the parking lot.i went outside and it was my car that had fire coming out of the hood.the fire department arrived quickly and put out the fire.i contacted my insurance and the dealership where i bought the car and both parties told me that my car was totaled.i kept up all the maintenance on the car and at the time i did not know what caused my car to catch on fire until the recall notice on march 15 2008.at the time i did not know who to report my car fire to but with the recall i saw the nhtsa information and that there were over 250 reported cases already.it took me some time to find my info but i have it on hand now.

Recurring burning oil smell and oil leak on my 2002 pontiac gtp grand prix.@ different dealers have had the vehicle to fix it multiple time and at a cost of more then $1600 dollars. Only the have the repair fall under a recall after which they wont refund my money.additionally the car still have a oil leak and burning oil smell.these are the symptoms for the engine fires that consumers are experiencing with this engine.i cant even sell the car, no one wants it due to the nature of the problem.i'm reading dozens of similar situations even some homes being damaged from fire resulting from the engine fire after you turn the car off.

2002 grand prix gt leaks coolant at upper intake manifold. Vehicle only has 31,000 miles. Upper intake manifold gasket failed thus allowing coolant to leak inside and on top of the engine. The upper intake manifold gasket had to be replaced and the engine cooling system flushed for any contaminants. Gm technician indicated that the gasket was replaced with a newly designed gasket.this is a known problem by general motors (nhtsa 10006144) and their solution in 2003 was to add coolant pellets and to change the nuts on throttle body. In my opinion, if there was damage to the gasket before the recall, the coolants pellets would have only prolonged the time it took for the gasket to totally fail. Thus forcing the customer to pay to fix a known defect since the car is was no longer under the manufacturer's warranty.

After filling my gas tank and paying for gas, i came out to my vehicle and after starting it smoke started coming from the hood! i lift the hood to investigate and the engine was on fire. The car was lost due to the fire on february 22, 2011.i later found out that the recall for cars with supercharged engines included replacing the valve cover gaskets.if this had been part of the recall for my vehicle, i believe that the fire would have never happened.

Exhaust manifold gasket failure due to design manufacture ie coolant defects leading to overheating and possible engine fire--consumer cost to repair in excess of 1000.00.

2002 pontiac grand prixhas a faulty catalytic converter because of the plastic parts. *njthe consumer also stated the upper intake manifold had to be rebuilt as well, due to the plastic parts that were used. The catalytic converter became clogged and caused the upper intake to warp.

2002 pontiac grand prix- - catalytic converter failed at 66,300 miles. Put in shop because gm would not stand by their extended emissions component warranty. My cost $690.00 car is pure junk. Power windows work when it is colder outside, but when temp is above 75-80 degrees can't open windows to breathe>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Dt*:the contact stated a puddle had formed under the engine compartment and the vehicle was taken to the dealership.the dealership determined the intake manifold gasket was leaking antifreeze.according to an acquaintance of the contact, there is a recall for this issue, no recall information was available.the manufacturer was contacted and determined there are no recalls for this vin.

Burning smell while driving sometimes but always when stopping the vehicle and park in the front part (engine).also smoke.

Engine caught fire due to intake manifold leaking oil onto exhaust manifold; repaired by gm dealer and back in service 1/4/2006; on 6/3/2006 engine locked up while driving; now dealer reports engine must be replaced and gm is taking no responsibility for either problem & contends they are not related.

2002 grand prix gtp caught on fire and burnt up, after being parked, after driving 5 miles.

Intake manifold gasket failure causing loss of antifreeze & mixture with engine oil. Vehicle has less than 71k miles.

I have recently experienced two major defects with my 2002 pontiac grand prix gtp. First, i have had both my driver and passenger side front wheel bearings to go out. These are not cheap to replace. The cost per bearing is about $90 plus labor. Then, my brake lights have stopped working. After looking at other complaints on the web, i have found that i my vehicle will require a multifunction switch which is costly as well. As far as the bearings go, there is a strong possibility that i will have to replace those again in the near future. My opinion is that if gm is aware of these defects in their product , they should be taking more steps to satisfy their customers as we have put faith in their company and help keep them in business with sales and our tax dollars (bailout). I appeal to gm torecall the parts that are not up to standard on their cars.

Can not start up again after shut down have to wait till cars cools down.

I own a 02 grand prix gt with only 45,000 miles on it and the brake lights don't work. After buying new light bulbs and back tracking all wiring to the fuse box, checking all fuses and after a couple aspirins later i checked the hazard switch that was seized and would not move. Problem found. Checking online, cost a new turn signal switch$250.00 cheapest price.i will fix the problem myself but feel sorry for others who can't do this type of work themselves because the labor cost will be about the same price as the part. Thank god no kids were injured in a rear end collision over a faulty switch that has had numerous complaints, especially when the vehicle owners manual shows children should be restrained in the back seat. "go figure". I would understand if the vehicle had 100k miles on it but with these low miles the switch should not be malfunctioning, sorry gm this is why buyers are losing faith in u.s. Products.

Mechanic alerted me that my brake lights on the bumper are not working.brake light in center of back window works.replaced the bulbs and checked fuses.brake light still do not work.did some research online about this issue.found that it is a very common issue with this model car.some said that they were able to fix the problem by turning the hazards lights on and off.we tried this and found that the hazard lights also do not work, the button is actually stuck.found after pressing the hazard button very hard, the button will push down.the brake lights start working, however, the turn signal lights no longer work.searched this issue on the web some more.found that there are quite a few people with this same issue. The brake lights, hazard lights and turn signal are all important safety features of the car.the issue is caused by a defective multi switch assembly in the steering column.this is an expensive repair.going to have to take the car back to the mechanic for the expensive fix.i feel there should be a recall on this defective part.not having basic safety features working on my car due to a defective part should warrant a recall by gm!

According to many sources (online internet auto forums, mechanics, etc), the 2002 pontiac grand prix, and possibly other years, have headlamps that are prone to failure. This failure mostly has to do with the sealant or the headlamp assembly itself which cracks. This causes a leak for air, moisture, and other things to enter the headlamp and drastically fog up the inside. As a result, this causes a significant drop in view distance at night, as the front headlights are blocked by this fog and moisture on the inside of the headlamps. This could easily cause an accident as the driver has minimal viewing distance at night for other cars, pedestrians, or objects. Mind you, this is just for the front headlamps and not the corner lenses. Furthermore, there is no easy fix for this problem besides purchasing new front headlamps for each side of the vehicle, which puts the price tag above $250, not including installation costs. As stated previously, this appears to be common problem as mechanics themselves have said that is fairly normal for this car and many other pontiac grand prix owners have complained of this problem as well. I hope that something can be done so that a recall could be in order to fix this failure that could have drastic consequences for drivers and others on the road at night.

Driver's side rear light assembly filling with water.after searching online, this appears to be a very common issue.could result in failure of rear lights and possible accident.

Both rear tail lights filling with water.this has caused one instance of passenger side tail lights to malfunction.

The tail lamps have delaminated allowing moisture to accumulate which has decreased the visibility of the lamps. Almost caused a collision.

No brake lights.brought into dealership and was told that the problem is the multifunction switch.this is a big problem that gm should be taking care of, having no brake lights could easily cause a rear end collision!the dealership said that i would have to pay for this repair, i beleive that it should be gm's responsibility.2002 pontiac grand prix.

Dt*:the contact stated after being alerted from a passerby that the brake lights were inoperative, the vehicle was taken to the dealership.the dealership determined a switch in the steering wheel needed to be replaced. Updated 7/31/2006 -the dealer indicated that the switch was worn out by using the blinker too much.

I was almost rear-ended by another driver as all brake lights on my car have stopped working for no apparent reason .while i have not had the repair made yet, i've visited several online forums to discuss the problem and there are a number of drivers with the same problem which stems from a faulty hazard light switch.

My wife and i own a 2002 pontiac grand prix gtp. On the evening of 23february 2007, my wife was followed into our driveway by a charles county sheriff (md). The sheriff informed my wife that he had followed her home to let her know that she had no brake lights. I checked the bulbs and fuses the next morning.they were all fine. I did some research online and found that numerous other pontiac grand prix and grand am owners have had the same problem. Everyone seemed to have the same problem with their hazard blinker switch not working because it became stuck (which had also occurred to me about a week prior to 23 feb 2007).they all reported that the problem was a faulty multi-function switch. I called the dealership (winegardner pontiac/gm) and explained to the service dept what was happening. They told me it was the multi-function switch and that it would cost about $450 for the part and $200 for the labor.they told me that it's a common problem.my car only has 67,000 miles on it(just out of warranty) and that it wouldn't be covered.i took my car to an auto shop about a week later and had it replaced at a cheaper cost.this is a serious problem.my wife drives through dc and brake lights are an absolute necessity for the safety of everyone in the car.the driver isabsolutely oblivious to the fact if the brake lights go out because of a broken hazard switch.during my research it seems as if the hazard gets stuck due to an excessive amount of grease and it can not be pried loose.i believe a recall needs to be issued because of the safety issues that are involved with such a part going bad.i could understand it being only the concern of the owner if it was something else, but since it's a safety issue and lives are at stake something should be done.i did contact gm/pontiac customer service .they gave me a case number, but they seemed to act as if nothing would be done.

People kept tail gaiting me and i finally realized that my brake lights do not work - the source of the malfunction is the steering column hazard switch has fused and does not work.

Brake lights and the tail lights don't work and can't use my hazards.i found recalls for this situation on other gm vehicles but for some reason not the 2002 grand prix.i have come across several other people with the same problem and i'm shocked that this was deemed not an issue.this is wide spread and the multi-function switch is not cheap.please research this issue again.

Brake lights fail to work when they are applied.the hazard switch was defective and the part cost $602.53 from the dealership.

This concerns the gm recall of the 3800 series engines. People are still having engine fires after having their cars fixed by the dealership. There's a fuel line leading into the fuel rail that has a quick disconnect. Inside the quick disconnect is an o-ring that after so many year's gets brittle and cracks. This can drip fuel on hot parts of the engine. What eventually catches fire is all the plastic and rubber parts of the engine not necessarily the fuel itself as that is just a catalyst. I personally know of a person that this has happened to even after having the recall items fixed. I found this information on a grand prix forum that i'm a member of. I'll include the link to the post. This is eye opening and i hope you can take this seriously. Here's the link and it's very detailed:http://www.grandprixforums.net/f81/could-this-causing-all-engine-fires-30008.html.

After my vehicle starts moving, the fuel gauge rises to show that the fuel tank is at least 2/3 to 3/4 full.this is especially true when the tank is less than 1/4 full.currently, the only way i can be reasonably sure how much fuel is in my tank is to reset the trip odometer every time i fill up.i read in the newspaper about similar occurrences in 2005-2007 chevrolet trailblazers, gmc envoys, buick ranier, and saab 9-7x vehicles.the article went on to say that nhtsa is currently investigating the incidents.it is difficult to say when this fuel gauge behavior started on my vehicle, the deterioration has been gradual.however, it has become so bad now that i really do not trust the reading on my fuel gauge.

Fuel line leak over engine on 2002 pontiac grand prix gt.the quick disconnect over the intake manifold has an o-ring that wears out and allows fuel to flow onto the hot engine when the fuel pump is energized.i found this problem on my 2002 grand prix gt when i smelled gasoline.

Accelerator sticks. Has occurred 3 times on vehicle since owning. After sticking goes to full throttle.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph, approaching a stop sign when the brakes were engaged; however, the vehicle failed to slow down. After numerous attempts the vehicle eventually came to a stop. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and they stated that the fuel line and brake lines were completely corroded as a result of rust. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 68,329.updated 5/24/11 the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired at his expense. Updated 06/10/11

This car has died several times, and when it does, all of the power equipment fails, and i can't turn the wheel or stop the vehicle very quickly, and i recently had a seriuos accident due to this factor.

260 miles on odometer - severe sloshing noise in fuel tank - not noticeable on other grand prix's - at 233 miles, fitting on transmission cooler failed, causing loss of transmission fluid and function. Vehicle towed to dealer. Diagnosis - improper installation of fitting.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix.he stated that the vehicle began dieseling when he attempted to start it.initially after dieseling, the engine would start however; he was currently unable to start the vehicle.there is a safety recall for the fuel system storage tank assembly (nhtsa campaign #07e021000).the current and failure mileages was 29,000.the purchase date was unknown. Updated 02-01-08 the consumer stated the vehicle has not been repaired as of yet. Updated 02/01/08

I have a 2002 pontiac gtp that the engine caught on fire. They said it was a leak from a fuel line. I know there was or is an investigation going on since last year about this problem. I was wondering what was going on with the investigation and when it would be resolved. Thank you. Scott taylor

Driver was unable to determine the amount of gasoline in the vehicle because the fuel gauge stopped operating. Dealer will repair the vehicle but did not inform the consumer of the parts that needed to be replaced.

The contact owned a 2002 pontiac grand prix. After the contact exited the vehicle, a passerby alerted him that a fire had erupted under the hood of the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the flames. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to the contact's residence. A police report was not filed. The contact was neither aware nor notified of nhtsa campaign numbers: 07e021000 (fuel system, other), 08v118000 (engine and engine cooling), and 09v116000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

We where driving down highway 212 between marengo, ia to belle plain, ia and the car just shut down on us. Almost got us in an accident with three other vehicles if it was not for there fast thinking and my fasting pulling in to a corn field we did not get hurt. The fuel pump was just replaced and after looking at the fuels. Fuel #32 is blow and everytime we replace it. It blows again. I looked online and there is alot of people who has the some people. Please help with this problem. Trying to get the car out and back home we almost got hit by a fire truck cause of we could not get out of there way fast enough. Please help.

Takata recall! as i was driving on the freeway my car shut off and the wheel locked up! my dad got everything on my car replace but it still does the same thing!

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel regulator failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. My 2002 pontiac grand prix with a 3.8 liter engine caught fire while i was out of state in detroit doing training for work. I parked at the hotel i was staying at after a short trip to dinner and back i park my car and 15 min. Later i heard two load pops (noise was front tires blew out because the fire got to hot) and looked outside my hotel room and my car was on fire and a co-workers car parked next to my car caught on fire there was hotel damage.plus two cars totaled and no way home.it sucks! there was a recall on the car involving engine fires. I took the car to a gm dealer and had the recall work done a year ago.nice work gm!

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was an odor of fuel detected. The contact noticed small spots of fuel on the ground. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was informed that the fuel line was corroded causing the fuel leak. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 8-4762625119. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

Ii had a no engine crank-no dashboard lights, intermintent start.cwas parked nad not moving.the problem i caused by the the ignition switch and pass key system.gm had this problem in 2004 on the colbolt. 6deaths due to loss of enginepower, steering and power brakes. I will not drive this car, till iget it repaired. I am the origional owner with 40000 miles use.

My car wouldn't start so i called aaa.the man tried to start the car before he attempted to jump it.when he turned the key, the car exploded and caught fire.thank goodness he hadn't opened the hood because i was standing next to the car and could have been killed from the flying debris.when we opened the hood to put out the fire, the intake manifold was completely destroyed and in pieces.i ended up having the car towed and they replaced the intake manifold and the fuel rails costing me $900. Yesterday i went to start the car and it acted like it didn't want to start again but finally it did but i did hear a pop.when i researched the problem online, i found an article about chevy impalas exploding but from reading the comments, it appears this is a problem with all gm cars from that time period.i'm linkng the article so you can read the reviews and can see that this is still an ongoing problem.the opening comment explains that there was a previous recall about this very same problem in the late 1990's. The problem is with defective fuel pressure regulators.everything described is exactly what happened with my car on february 6 of this year.i now know i need to have the regulator replaced or it might happen again.i'm a senior on limited income and i can't afford this expense, especially when it's a problem that should have been fixed with a recall.unfortunately, i didn't take any photos of the incident but i have the repair bill and i'm sure i could get a statement from the aaa person who was also present when it happened.here is the link for further testimony showing someone wrote as recently as february 12 with the same issue. Https://rjhillconsulting.wordpress.com/2014/03/08/chevy-impala-not-recalled-for-exploding-intake-manifold-and-engine-fire/

This is for the gtp supercharged model. Replaced the fuel pump and now all of a sudden leaking out of shrader valve above the injectors which is was not doing before. Online says there was a delphi fuel pressure regulator recall but after entering my vin says no recalls. Although i also took it in last year due to the recall concerning oil dripping on the manifold and causing possible fire so unsure why it said no recalls.. I will attach photo of website claims. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Lower intake manifold leaking coolant into engine, safety hazard, inevitable emissions failure. Many recalls regarding pontiac grand prix with the issue

Headlight and dashboard lights flashed intermittently.dealership informed that flashing headlights and dashboard lights are common and cannot be fixed. Manufacturer stated that there was a problem with the new pa emissions and won't be fixed.

Bought the car and 2 days later the gear shift would lock into park and actually be in reverse. The first time this happened i was out of my car and the shifter engaged reverse and drove away with my child in it! it was a complete surprise the first time and then a major headache pushing sticks into special release holes to get the vehicle shifter to move and get the key out of the ignition. I had to have the dealer replace the cable with a gm part which means given the nature of the failure the part will fail again due to design. Unfortunately, the old part is not available. But if there's a recall i'm sure there will be plenty of pontiac grand prix's that will come forward.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix.the contact attempted to close the driver's side door, but it would not close.the dealer stated that the door latch needed to be replaced.the same part was previously replaced.the current mileage was 92,000 and failure mileage was 75,000.

After driving to several stores, upon starting my car i noticed the brake pedal went almost to the floor. I started to pull from the parking space and it took me a long time to stop. I parked and had my car taken to a repair shop. The brake line was rusted through. The mechanic said that should not have happened to a car with only 69,000 miles on it and was a poor design as the brake line runs over the wheel well. He said there are others that will also fail soon. I am going to have them all replaced. My parking brake cable also broke a few weeks ago. Luckily this did not cause an accident.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix.the contact noticed that the steering column would not lock properly and the floor shifter would not remain locked in its proper gear.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that he would have to replace the neutral safety switch at the cost of over $400.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 95,000 and current mileage was 118,000.

Dealership inspection revealed worn/failed parts. Both front hub bearings and driver side drive axle inboard cv boot torn/grease escaping. Brakes observed worn front both sides.parts replaced with new/remanufactured parts. Other parts on front not effected by worn components. Old hubs available for inspection, drive axles returned to reman. Facility for core return. Front hub bearings built "sealed for life" showed signs of both grease seal failure (both sides) andwear in the vertical plane with no motion detected horizontally, some slight wear inward and outward on bearing. While removing old parts, detected same wear pattern on both hub bearings both sides front, and detected signs of burnished/blued surface on mating spline of drive axle assembly (drivers side only). Detected both drive axles cv boots rubber losing their pliability and becoming very brittle.vehicle has approximately 76,000 miles on it and was used primarily highway miles city driving. Majority of miles on vehicle on straight level pavement.noticed on occasion some stalling conditions on hard left turns (max. Radius) which have sometimes caused a complete shutdown of engine. Since replacement of said parts, engine/drive train seems to be mechanically "fluid"with less hesitation/shifting demands on the trans axle assembly. Fluid/filter replacement in trans axle revealed higher than average wear indicated by soft form metals in the pan and filter causing a near complete clogging condition. Heavy formations.

My vehicle is experiencing tsb: 06-07-30-023d 4t65e: transmission 1-2 shift shudder at light to moderate acceleration.i called pontiac recall center gave my vin and was told it was not covered. Eventhough i got this recall after taking my car to a nj inspection center.

Suspension - wheel bearing failure - replaced wheel hubtransmission - car trying to go into reverse and drive at same time. Gear in transmission failure. Replaced transmissionpaint - several areas on car paint coming off and rusting. Wet sanded some areas and brush touchedup leaving globs of paint in these areas. Efforts to remove etching residue on trunk resulted in dealer paint dept. Scratching trunk and spoiler. I notified manager. Attempts to remove scratches were unsuccessful car was returned to me with scratches. Paint on hood coming off and rust starting. Were supposed to repair but failed to do so.informed paint manager i was dissatisfied but his hands are tied because of used car manager. I informed them i would be contacting gm. The reply was do what you gotta do.dealership is twin city in port arthur, tx

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix.the vehicle was in the park position with the engine turned on.while the contact's son was moving from the front to the rear seat, his foot struck the shifter.the gear shifted into reverse and the vehicle moved in a circular manner before rolling backwards into a light pole.the front bumper and passenger side headlight were damaged.the approximate speed at the time of the crash was 10 mph.the vehicle has not yet been inspected by a mechanic or dealer.a police report was filed.the failure and current mileages were 101,000.

Transmission slipped into reverse from drive while going 40-50 mph on the highway. It did this on its own. Lost power and barely made it to the side of the road. After stopping i was able to shut the car off and then restart it. The car took off in drive and has been fine so far. I was just lucky that the was enough movement from the car mass to get it to the side of the road.

Dealership found passenger side front wheel bearing failure. Driver side front wheel bearing at mechanical wear limit. Both were replaced, as well as transmission main seals from age/wear/leakage and front passenger side lower ball joint. One month prior to this repair, the vehicle transmission shut down without warning and no electrical warning or lights while being driven.because related other parts were repaired previosly and reported defective via this system on odi id 10107847 and 10148428 and during this repair reported repair to pontiac, the other associated parts were in specification. One lower passenger side ball joint was at the mechanical limit due to bad local roads on the passenger side edge of road/potholes and public utility access patches. Worn hubs (for the second time here, listen up) are available for inspection if needed. Both times this occurred, we noticed the failures either audibly (humming) or during state inspection, or both, and in all cases, the repair conditions were set by the dealership during the inspection phase. At no time during the inspection were apoligies offered, or better parts engineered, to prevent this from re-occurring. Just told that this was a common problem on this vehicle, good thing we caught it before wecaused an accident (we?) and we cannot offer a better part to fix this problem permanently. They should be held accountable for the materials used to produce and investigate manufactured items for compliance with material(s) engineering and specification, as well as wear testing data that may have been improperly reported to present a favorable outcome of test failure anaylsis.

Hard shifting in automatic transmission. Was identified in june 2005 as a faulty pressure control solenoid and was fixed. The same problem has started again in october of 2006.

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning transmission will not pull over.

After the purchase of my grand prix from mac haik in temple texas the transmission started to have some problems. The car was returned to mac haik where the transmission was repaired or replaced. After only 3 years and having only less than 1,000.00 left to pay the transmission is going out again! no accident occurred i just have had alot of problems with the vehicle and am frustrated with the transmission problem for the 2nd time.

In addition, the rear sway bar link fractured and the brake pedal was hesitant when depressed. The independent mechanic replaced the rear sway bar link and brake lines however, the sub frame was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 115,000.

After installing a aftermarket indiglo reverse gauge overlay abs light appeared oninstrument cluster and never went off. Car was stationary. Checked fuses, tried to reset by turning ignition to the on position and pumping the brakes three times worked once then came back on. Then try disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes but it did not work. O'reilly's auto did he scan coach with pointing towards the asb sensorbrakes feel good and normally. The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The emergency brake was activated in order to stop the vehicle. The contact managed to coast down an exit ramp. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph and attempting to stop, the brakes were depressed and failed to respond. The contact discovered that the liner panel above the brake pedal had sagged making contact with the brake pedal and causing the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer where both were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

On the afternoon of august 24th. When parking in my driveway i suddenly noticed my brake pedal become mushy and drop all the way to the floor.when i exited the car, i noticed puddles of brake fluid on the pavement.i immediately brought the car to an auto shop for repair.he said i had a corroded brake line that burst and caused the leak of brake fluid and the brakes to fail.i was charged $140.00 for this repair. I drove the car for 1 day and then proceeded to vacation for a week.upon my return i used the car again for another day without any issues.on the morning ofseptember 3rd i proceeded to go shopping with the car.after completing my shopping on the way home i noticed the brake pedal becoming mushy again. As the drive home progressed i noticed the brake pedal going all the way down like it did the previous week.i proceeded to bring the car to the mechanic again.he noticed another 3 brake lines were busted.he repaired them at a cost of 284.00. It is frightening to think that this could happen to a vehicle that has less than 28,000 miles.

Driving in a residential area in annandale, va. Applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor.had the car towed to a shop and the brake lines were completely rust through! this is a 9 year old car!what kind of material is gm using for their brake line!

Sudden rupture of brake line.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. While traveling 5 mph, the contact noticed that the abs and the trac-off warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel.moments later, the contact noticed that the brakes were not responding properly. The current and the failure mileages were 110,000.

While driving, there was a weird noise and it felt like the rear brake were pulling. The consumer took to the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer replaced the rear pads and rotors.please describe further.

When the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance when on a wet surface.the dealer was notified.the brake was applied with excessive force and the pedal had gone to the floor.after 5 to 10 seconds, the brakes engaged and a loud grinding sound was heard along with pulsation while coming to a sudden stop.the vehicle collided with an suv in front.the passenger side seat belt had broke during the accident. *scc

The rear brakes on the consumer's 2002 pontiac grand prix were severely rusted and pitted and as a result the vehicle could not pass ny state inspection.

We were on our way to my father in law's funeral and the brakes went out. Then the accelerator stuck. I turned off the ignition and we rolled to a stop, then there was a fire under the hood.

Bought a used 2002 pontiac grand prix gt about two months ago and safety inspection sheet said car was up to par. Not so, just after buying the car the sway bar link was found to be almost broken and the brakes failed just after 5000 miles. Parts were replaced for both and the old parts to the brakes are available to view.

Brakes seem to stay locked up after hard stop or a lot of use.not the calipers because it doesn't pull or drag a tire. Having mech look inti abs system but comp shows nothing.

The rotors warped......front & back....the dealership turned them and told me that it would happen again and that they are covered for only 14000 miles...and that it's just the way they are made anymore (cheap)...and there is nothing they can do about it..i read a lot of letters on the same problem for 2002 grand am's...and other gm & chrysler cars & vans..... I went thru the same thing with my 1995 dodge intrepid....35000 miles on it & the rotors were turned once & replaced 3 times at my expense... What is going on ?....do we have any recourse?

Dt*:the contact stated while applying brake pressure at 5 mph there was a loud grinding noise.the vehicle was seen by an authorized dealer, where it was determined the rotors were rusted and neededto be replaced.the dealer suggested rusted rotors were attributing to the lack of driving of the vehicle rather than road salts.the last incident occurred at an annual state inspection, the brakes did not pass state inspectiondue to the rust on the rotors.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the mechanic suggested replacing the entire antilock brakes to correct the problem.

Dt:2002 pontiac grand prix.the consumer stated the caliper trusted from the inside out.they were getting too hot and warping the rotors.general motors was not willing to help with the problem.the brakes were replaced by the dealer in july 2004.the brakes needed to be replaced again in may 2005.other service centers told the consumer gm puts junk parts on their vehicles.the vehicle shookwhen the problem was happening.the consumer statedthe vehicle soundedlike it was stuck in third gear.the transmission needed to bereplaced.it was fixed under warranty.the problems started after the consumer'shusband had an accident.

Dt:the caller said the front brake pads were completely gone.it made a grinding when you applying the brakeswhile it was moving. The callersaid the bonding on the pads did not hold the pads on the metal backing plate. The caller replaced them himself. Dealer has not been contacted yet. Manufacturer said to take vehicle to a dealer and have them look at the brakes. The caller did not take vehicle to dealer. The brake pad were only 1/3 worn at the time of their failure.the consuemr replaced the pads himself.

My brakes had to be repaired in august, 2005 and again today. The car has only 19145 miles on it . In august the dealer replaced the rotors and brake pads , the paperwork said it was done on the front brakes, they said that they never seen rotors in that bad of shape (rusted and pitted). I had 15990 miles on the car at that time. It was still covered by warranty. Now today i had to pay 191.69 to replace the front brake pads (which were completely separated from their backing) i also had to have the rotors turned down . When i told them that they had just replaced the front brakes in aug.(3000 miles earlier) they told me that they made a mistake on the work order paperwork and they had actually replaced the rear brakes in august. I ask them why they didn't check all of the brakes or find the problem then . I have got the brakes pieces that they took off today . They said that i actually got about 5000 more miles out of the brake pads than most people get. This just doesn't seem right to me. When you buy a brand new car you don't think that you should be replacing brakes with 14000 miles and twice within 19000 miles . This time the brakes went clear to the floor several times while i was driving it and also locked up several times , luckily there was no accident.

While driving and making a left turnthe vehicle lost steering.it was difficult to make left turn. Took the vehicle to dealer for repairs.

I would like to complain about the gear shift assembly in my 2002 pontiac grand prix.for the past six months, i have experienced situations where i cannot get the key out of the ignition once i have put the car in park and turned off the engine.this is a dangerous situation because i can envision one day not being able to get the key out at all.the gm dealer says that the computer is not recognizing that the car is in park.what is the computer shifts gears while i am driving?could this be a computer glitch or defect.i have never had this happen before on any car i have owned.gm says the gear assembly needs to be replaced.has there been a recall on this gear assembly or other substantial complaints on the gear shift in these cars?the problem is on-going.

The steering on my 2002 pontiac grand prix failed.

In 04 i had my rack n pinion replaced cause left side broke mataga of stockton did it they also replaced power steering pump ever since then i've had problems with the steering and now it's worse i've replaced the power steering pump but it still steers hard also the steering doesn't feel right very sensitive at times likes to wander and i have to use the button underneath the steering column to release my key i replaced the intermediate steering shaft still doesn't feel safe i saw in 09 you had a recall on steering knuckles i never received it can i get a recall on that to get replaced thank you

For the past two years i have noticed my car steering to the right side from time to time and i was not sure what that could be.it is random.it felt like it was to the right and i could not control it.

Bought the car in april of 2017. Had to replace rack and pinion. A few months down the road was driving car and steering wheel became loose and it turned halfway to the left to keep car straight. Rack and pinion busted. Replaced rack and pinion again plus struts and the car will make popping sounds when turning steeering wheel. The front end of my car has been pretty much replaced twice. Scary to drive.

Sudden power steering loss on left hand side while attempting to make a turn.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. The contact stated that water would leak into the passenger side of the vehicle whenever it would rain. The contact was unaware of how the water was entering the vehicle but the water would buildup on the front passenger side floorboard. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and advised the contact to have a dealer inspect the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic and the local mechanic could not diagnose the failure.the contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer and the vehicle was not repaired.the contact stated there are numerous complaints regarding the leak in his year, make and model vehicle.the failure mileage was 84,000.

I own a 2002 grand prix gtp, the passenger side floor gets flooded everytime there is a heavy rain.i took it into the dealership and it was replaced under warranty, it was the front cowl seal.the seal has failed once again, but this time its not under warranty, i did some research and it seems that i am not the only one with this problem.

Water will leak into the passenger side of the vehicle whenever it would rain or if i take it in a car wash.i just had my window repaired last week due to a crack and this still didn't fix the problem.i took the car in to get it looked at and no one can find a problem with it.

The body of my 2002 pontiac grand prix seems to be separating at the seam where the quarter panel and the roof adjoin on both sides. On the left side(drivers) the quarter panel is buckled below the window for no apparent reason.

Paint is defective.the car looked old after only 1 month. Icomplained and nothing was done.

On sunday november 20th 2016 my 17 year old son pulled up to a gas station in grand island ne. He went inside to pre pay for his gas and a man came inside saying there was a car in fire. My sons 17 year old girlfriend was inside vehicle sleeping and it had ignited under flames in the hood. He had driven from lincoln,ne to aurora,ne stayed for an hour plus then drove 20 miles to truck stop. Car had a fire under the hood and blew front tires and is a total loss. It was sitting next to a gas pump with no power.had a occupant in vehicle sleeping. The front end is gone along with passenger side of vehicle. Was waiting for recall parts at local dealer had appt for next day to fix issue!!! contact for photos

2002 pontiac grandprix excessive amount of rust in outer rocker panels. Vehicle was purchased new and never had any major collision damage requiring body repair or replacement. Other body components such as floor and body panels show little or no rust and corrosion. The rocker panels though are rotted out with big gaping holes as if there was no protective coating applied to the interior of these areas.replacement sections are not available, any repair would have to be either fabricated or from salvage.this area of body panel loss renders the vehicle structurally weakened/unsound and is a critical area in the vehicles impact protection.

I have found both sides of the front suspension anti roll bar on my 2002 grand prix gtp to have cracks at the pinch weld, where the links attach. On the lhs is it pretty well cracked all the way through, the rhs is cracked approx 50% of the way through. It appears the road salt and corrosion is getting in between the pinch weld and splitting the bar in two. This would not be a catastrophic loss of control but would go from firm cornering to wishy washy. I am a professional technician by trade and do my own work on my pov's. I can supply pictures if needed. The car has about 77000 miles on it at the time. I think the manufacturer also needs to address the oil pan leaks as well. They can leak and drain right on to the exhaust. Again this was foundby a routine inspection and verified by buffing it off with a buffing wheel.

Car ride rough.lower arm bushing go bad.pontiac dealer tried to push off problem on tires.chevy dealer (gm) found problem. Replace under warranty.three month to find problem pontiac dealer had car twice.*la

My pontiac gran prix began making loud whaling noises, it began dragging and burning a large amount of fuel. I also have several other owners of the same vehicle with the same problem. I was told that i have a problem with the front hub bearing assembly. This will cost me $700.00 .there should be a recall on this because that has happened to all of these same cars and they are only 2 years old.i was informed by a mechanic that the parts are made of aluminun. This is very dangerous.

This is an update to complaint 10107847. Please include the following information with the previous summary. In addition to the parts previously mentioned, at approximately 84,000 miles, the front struts and their associated mounts required replacement due to excessive wear. Indications were first noticed from a light tapping from the strut mount on passenger side, followed by the drivers side. Removal and inspection of the struts and mounts revealed that the strut mounts had literally melted around the metal top bushing at the point of attachment of the vulcanized rubber. Although it deformed and separated from the rubber, the mount provisions retained the parts sufficiently enough to prevent inadvertent release or other abnomalies except for the tapping sound it made. The strut assemblies lost their dampening on the upstroke side and were weak on the down or compression side (typical strut).

Front hub bearing assembly started making loud roaring noise.had to have assembly replaced. Also had to have drive belt replaced it was worn and cracking. Total cost of repairs to vehicle owner 544.11.

I received a letter saying that my 2002 pontiac grand prix has a recalled. I was given this car, so i had no clue until now.

Lower intake manifold leaking coolant into engine, safety hazard, inevitable emissions failure. Many recalls regarding pontiac grand prix with the issue

My vehicle startedacting funny when i would turn on my heat the dash lights go off they said it is a faulty ignition switch

I drive a 2002 pontiac grand prix gt.this car comes equipped with a pass-through from the back seat to the trunk.it locks from the inside.when you stop hard, to avoid an accident, or because of traffic, items from the trunk come crashing into the cabin of the car.the pass-through lock is still in the "locked" position and items from the trunk end up being projected into the back seat, and i fear, if the stop is hard enough, that the items in the trunk might actually end up in the front seat, either hitting the driver, or hitting the gear shift knob.this can be a potentially dangerous situation because i almost had a wreck when it happened because i did not know what was going on.if rear-ended or braking hard, this happens, items in the trunk can do serious damage to the driver or passenger, or could actually cause an accident when the pass-through fails.the lock is made of cheap metal that bends and it locks into a cheap plastic groove.i took it to the dealer to have it checked out and it was determined that they are all made the same way and nothing can be done.i do believe that this problem could cause serious damage to an occupant of the car, or could even cause an accident if it were tohappen (it scared me to death when it happened because it made a loud crashing sound).i carry a bowling ball in my trunk.the last thing i need is a 16 pound bowling ball to come crashing into the cabin of the car.pontiac (gm) needs to re-engineer this and make it safer for drivers.*nlm

Accelerator sticks. Has occurred 3 times on vehicle since owning. After sticking goes to full throttle.

While driving at any speed speedometer intermittently did not work.vehicle had been to the dealer four times concerning this problem. Dealer didnot do anything about the problem because they could not duplicate the problem.

Dt*:the contact stated the speedometer failed and while making right turns there was a clicking noise that seemed to be coming from the front passenger wheel.this occurred while driving at various speeds.the speedometer was always stuck on zero and the mileage of the vehicle became unreadable.the speedometer has been replaced three times by a local dealership, however the problem still occurs.the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem with the speedometer and determined the front passenger wheel bearing needed to be replaced.the manufacturer has not been alerted.

While parking in a parking spacevehiclesuddenly accelerated when shiftingfrom park into drive, collided and submerged completelyinto a pond.driver was rescued by the fire department.

We were on our way to my father in law's funeral and the brakes went out. Then the accelerator stuck. I turned off the ignition and we rolled to a stop, then there was a fire under the hood.

The contact owns a 2002 pontiac grand prix. While parking the vehicle it accelerated on its own. The contact applied extreme force to the brakes when they did not stop the vehicle from accelerating. The vehicle crashed into a post and damaged the front end on the passenger side. The vehicle was towed to an auto repair shop. A police report was filed. There have been no diagnostic test or repairs. The failure and the current mileages were 60000.

After a rain storm wipers did not go to the original position when wipers were in "off" position, they stayed in an upright position.i had a replacement wiper motor installed and when using the delay speed it stops in the upright position for a minute and repeats that during the wiping cycle.another 2 motors were installed with the same problems.till this day i still having this problem.i notice that there was a recall on later models with wiper motors.also, during rain days, water gets into both of the rear brake lens, if it's a heavy rain the lens fill up with water and short out the bulbs in both lens.i have seen this in many of the 2002 grand prix cars.hopefully, both of these problems could be taken care of under a recall.

1)lost one speed on heater fan, than lost all speeds. Obviously in this climate, the defroster is a very important accessory. Had the heater resister replaced and got 4 speeds which was ok. It`s now 1 week later and it stopped working again. On a 2002 vehicle, this should not be happening. The warranty has run out because of mileage.

2002 pontiac grand prix. Window regulators.these replacement parts are the second and third regulators that have needed to be replaced.our vehicle has only 50,000 miles on it (over the warranty period) but it is obvious that these regulators were manufactured with a design flaw.our windows are hardly ever used here in california, summer time with 100 degree heat the air is on all the time, and then in the winter the heat is on. Back in 2005 your company reimbursed our cost of the first regulator that when defected on our and i believe that your company will do the right thing again this time.when these regulators fail, the window falls down into the door leaving the driver to being exposed to bad weather.

All 4 power windows do not operate in warm to hot weather.each window has it's own, different, unique, temperature in which it will not operate independent of the other windows.driver's windows stops operating above 60, driver's side passenger window stops operating above 65, shotgun window stops operating above 85, and shotgun side passenger window stops working above 80.all degrees are farenheight.this is a safety factor at tolls, government installation front gates, military bases, etc.also is a general safety issue (fogging, bugs, emergency exiting).

In june 2005 the passenger side window motor on my 2002 grand prix gtp broke and just today now the driver's side has done exactly the same. Back in june it cost me over $400 to have a "used" part installed and that was not even easy to find. I am going to have to get this fixed asap and worried that once again i will have a problem finding the part. I will be making a direct complaint to pontiac as well as i believe that it is ridiculous to have this happen to two windows in less than 4 years. I live in south florida and rarely even use the windows because the a/c is always on. Very disappointing.

Passenger window mechanism broke, letting the window fall down into the door.the only way to repair it was to replace the whole mechanism. Even that thee only part that needed to be place was a small piece of plastic that a metal cable runs through, cost of repair was $517.00 for a $20.00 part.

Rear and front windows did not roll down or roll up. Consumer contacted the dealership.technician indicatedwindow regulator failed.

Dt:2002 pontiac grand prix.the consumer stated the front passenger window fell down, then, the driver'srear windowfell off four days later, and finally the passenger's rear window fell off the next day.this problem started on august 24, 2005.the motor regulators for the front windows were replaced about a year and a half ago.the vehicle was taken to the dealership. The first two windowswere fixed.when the third window fell off he consumer contacted pontiac, and they paid for the repairs. The manufacturer stated they would reimburse the consumer for the previous work, but they called back today and stated they would not.

Consumer stated that while driving at any speed and without warning the front window would fall off the track causing a loud noise and a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified. Ts

Through normal use, all four window regulator motors on my 2002 grand prix have had cable breaks or entanglement with the housing. 2 (front) have been replaced by myself at the cost of aftermarket part of $90 per instance. 2 (rear) have been pre-paid for$90 per item, but remain a back ordered/unavailable item - 1 part since june.3 of original parts are still available for inspection.the two rear windows have required imaginative solutions to remain in a closed position.the most recent occurrence is listed as the incident date.

I have a 2002 pontiac grand prix se sedan with only 42,000 miles and i have had to replace all the power windows because they just went down and i repaced the part at a great expense. I now have a lifetime warranty on the last part costin g $96.00 why wasn't there a lifetime warranty on the original car? each repairman said that is the trouble with pontiac.

The windows in my grand prix just started failing and dropped down into the door and would not operate at all.the first on went then 4 days later the 2nd one went and the next day a 3rd window broke again. Each time we had to take the carto the dealership and have the motor and regulator replaced at 600.00 each time.this car is only 3 years old and should not have this problem.this was also bogus since gm refuse to make the regulator without the motor so they can charge double on the part at 350.00+dollars.this is absurd that this is not a recall issue yet. And the service provided by ponitac is insulting.

While driving the vehicle in the rain windshield wiper on driver's side failed. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection.

When the wipers were turned off the blades would stop in the middle of the windshield.the dealer replaced the motor twice but the problem recurred in less than three weeks.the manufacturer is aware of the problem.

2002 pontiac grand prix tire flew off the vehicle bounced down the highway hitting another vehicle on the ohio turnpike.(ohio traffic crash report)

While driving 55 mphdriver heard a thumping noise in the rear. The passenger's wheelbent without warning. Dealer insisted that the owner had hit something.
