The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am.while driving 15 mph, the air bags deployed without cause, which caused a crash into an unknown object.in addition, the crash bent the front passenger rim.the air bag warning light illuminated after the deployment.the road conditions were dry.as of january 3, 2008, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 97130. Updated 01-29-08.the consumer suffered injuries from the air bag deployment. Updated

I was driving onthe highway at around 50 mph when i needed to slow down due to the car in front of me slowing down. I pressed on the brakes and they did not seem to be working as they should. I had not had any problems with them in the past days and it seemed to come out of nowhere. The car did not stop because the brakes seemed to have completely shut down including the power break. So i hit the car in front of me and my car was totaled. Some weeks later i received a safety recall letter for my car (recall 14350). It states that if i have any weight added on to my key ring it might move my key from the "run" position. By that happening, many things will automatically shut down. One of them being the power brake. Which would increase the risk of of being involved in a crash, and in my case i was. If i had been informed about this recall before i would've immediately removed any extra weight on my key ring to prevent something like this. The letter also states that my dealer will fix the defect but i am afraid that is too late since my car is totaled and my insurance does not cover the damage. Is there anything else i can do since clearly this was not my fault.

The contact owned a 2005 pontiac grand am. While driving 35 mph, the driver swerved to avoid an object in the road. As a result, the vehicle rolled over three times and crashed into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver was killed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,000.

In many occasions i had a couple of incidents, one because of a yellow pole and another because of an object in the freeway. And the air bag wouldn't deployed. I paid for the repairs and i am still driving this car. After reading the letter i received i have come to one understanding that is that the car isn't safe. What is you recommendation on my concerns.

The contact owns 2005 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while making a left turn, another vehicle crashed into the contact's vehicle and the air bags failed to deploy. It was unknown if a police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 144,480.

Horn keeps sticking, and if you disconnect the fuse for the horn the drivers side air bag will not work if in an accident.this is the second time this has occurred in 35,000 miles of use.the horn spring is in the air bag module.

Will not turn over unless you leave the key on for 8 minutes-pass lock issue i am told and is quite prevalent.....why is there not a recall????

"security" warning light suddenly appeared while i was driving. This appears to be a passlock issue.i've also been told this is a common problem that has not been dealt with a recall.

The car always had starting problems i replaced the ignition sensor, and the starter. Sometimes it take3 or 4 times to start the car.

I purchased my 2005 pontiac grand am se used in may of 2008 with only 23,000 miles on it. The first issue began only about 2-3 months after the purchase. First the key would get stuck...a few weeks later, that was no longer a problem. Then the car had trouble starting. Very random, sometimes it would start after a few tries, sometimes it would start after 30 minutes. Then it got worse. The car would shut off as i was driving...no warning at all...just turned off as if i turned the key off. This also is extremely random..mechanics have checked my fuel pump pressure, cleaned the lines twice...i was told the pressure was right to specifications.it has been 3 years that i have the car..could not afford to take it to a gm dealer. I checked and cleaned the fuses related to the ignition..after i did that, for the first time in 3 years my car did not shut off. That lasted about 2 weeks, now it is starting all over again. I have gotten stuck on the highway in the middle of traffic, up on mountainous roads, at red lights, very dangerous. My car still has trouble starting at times and now it returned to the danger of the car shutting off. My electrical system sometimes goes crazy when the car shuts off..sometimes it does not. Sometimes the car shuts off when turning on my directional signal..sometimes it does not. Sometimes it shuts off at a stop sign..sometimes it shuts off driving 55 mph. If this were my fuel pump, it would have died years ago. This is gm's poor electrical systems proven to be a problem in the grand am and other models as well.

All lighting comes on but car will not start. After it has been running for a while, then it will not start

I had several times i would be driving down the road and even the highway it has died on me. Luckily i was able to get the door locks come unlock that i knew the car died. When i am driving my flashers on my car continue to make a ticking noise. When i try to start the car sometimes i have to pump the gas and i had already had fuel pump replaced. When i start it i have to wait for a service engine soon before i can start it. Sometimes i be driving and my headlights will go dim and i turn it up as far and bright . It still don't work.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. While driving approximately 50 mph, the security system warning indicator began to illuminate sporadically. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the security code was reset. The failure recurred nine months following the repair. The contact was able to correct the failure temporarily. A permanent repair was not performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was unknown.

During starting or regular driving, the security light will come on. Soon after, the car may shut down or will not start at the next ignition cycle. This is due to a widely-known failed passlock or vats system. It is not due to user error, and is potentially dangerous if not fatal at the wrong time.

"takata inflate" my car has to get a boost daily but once and now it when car is in the on postion it will not make a sound but all the panel lights come .if you turn on head lights inside panel will not come but turn off lightsor take out key it will light up on the panel

I purchased this vehicle in april of 2006. September of 2006 the vehicle began locking and unlocking by itself, whether i'm driving or in park. I changed the battery in the remote car alarm, but that did not help. I have three children and i am not comfortable riding ina vehicle with this type of defect.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am.the contact stated that the brakes were grinding.she noticed a film on the entire windshield at night, when it is raining, or when the defrost and/or windshield wipers were activated.she also stated that the electric driver side window occasionally sticks.the dealer has been notified and refused to repair the vehicle.the current mileage was 51,000 and failure mileage was 49,000.

My 2005 pontiac grand am for over a year and a half now has failed to start every time.when the problem occurs i have to wait until my service engine soon light comes on, which sometimes is a few seconds or minutes.aside from that i have had to replace my hazard switch twice now because my blinkers don't blink they stay solid.the car randomly shuts off while driving or stopped at a light, with no warning and can only notice because the doors automatically unlock.recently the chiming noise when programming the clock sounds off multiple times after turning the car on and the doors began locking and unlocking themselves over and over for awhile.now however the doors are permanently locked once the car hits the required safety speed and do not unlock when the car is shut off and key taken out of the ignition, so in order to get out of the vehicle the only way to unlock the doors is with the key fab because the interior automatic locks do not work nor the manual locks either. This car has had more electrical problems than any car i have heard of until researching the issues and realizing that these are common gm problems on certain models and manufactured years and gm refuses to issue a recall.

I own a 2005 pontiac grand-am. The issue i've been having is that periodically the 'security' light will display. Shortly after (no specific or exact time elapse) the car will not start and the 'security' light on dash blinks. I wait 10 minutes (as suggested in owners manual), keeping the key in the 'on' position, then car will start up. I have had the car serviced (for this issue)in a gm dealership two times...they changed the starter and some other part (not the security control module) and this problem remains. Is there a definitive 'fix' for this problem. Tired of living with this. This issued has happened 7 times over the last year.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while making a turn, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that all warning indicators illuminated. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system) however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed the lock ignition cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not provided.

My car would not start. When this happened ,had to turn key to acc and let it sit for 9 to 10 minutes. Flashing security light would go out and car would start. I called gm about 2 years ago and they knew about the problem andi was told there had not been enough complaints to do a recall. When you have a 89 year old mother in the car and it is 90 or 32 degrees it is a problem. I posted on their page about it and why gm is not a car to buy. They do not care about people! if you google it there are stories about it from others who have (had)the problem. You have to have another switch put in, which i did.

Security system failure- according to a >120 page online forum, my car is experiencing a passlock failure. I turn the key in the ignition, nothing happens, the car does not start. Then, in the same day, i can try starting the car again, and it will start. The next day, same thing, turn the key in the ignition, nothing.

Vehicle just shut off while driving on highway. Hazardous to myself and others on the road, out of no where. Lights on dash go crazy and vehicle stops running.first time it happened got towed to a shop said there is possible leaking of the fuel tank, also suggested to replace fuel pump, then decided that was not needed and replaced fuel pressure regulator. Vehicle worked for 3 months, but could still smell fumes of gas when first started car, this smell began first week i purchased the vehicle.second time was two days ago on the highway once again. Mechanic is concerned regarding fuel tank leak and fuel pressure regulators again. I am concerned to drive this vehicle due to it being unsafe and possible fire or explosion could occur. Who manufactures a vehicle that has insufficient fuel tank welding??? this is ridiculous and dangerous.

2005 pontiac grand am. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle not starting and shutting down. *tgw a local repair shop, replaced the crank sensor and ignition switch. A year later, the vehicle was towed to the repair shop, where the ignition control module was replaced. On march 7, 2014, the vehicle was towed to the shop again, where the ignition lock cylinder was replaced.

Pontiac grand am 2005, i bought this car in june 2006.since june i have had nothing but problems.i had to have the window lock panel on the drivers side reattached, because it fell out.the engine stalls and won't start half the time.driver side window will not roll down.rear passenger side window leaks air constantly, and water when it rains.brakes don't always stop and make a grinding noise.also sometime accelerates when hitting brake. Engine makes a squeaking noise when driving it.cruise control only works every now and then, and i have already had to change the tires.this car only has under 36,000 miles on it and all the problems are occurring.i gave almost $18,000 for this car (which was way to much anyways, but they reassured me that it was a good car, and i would have no problems out of it) and am paying $340.00 a month.the dealership (alex montgomery) tells me they can fix it but it is going to cost me.i don't have a job now and haven't had one since july 2006.i am expecting my third child, i am a single mother, i have no money, and they won't trade because i am unemployed you can't get a loan when your unemployed.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. When the contact inserted the key into the ignition, the engine failed to start on numerous occasions. The security sensor randomly illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that there was ignition failure that triggered the security sensor. The mechanic referred the contact to an authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnostic testing. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Key gets stuck in ignition switch, with the gear shift in park. Sometimes gear shift will not shift out of park until a few minutes after starting car. Had the gear shift replaced, but problem persisted. Isn't as much of a problem in warm weather.

Went to the doctor's office one day and the my car would not start when i was leaving. Had someone pick me up. Took me back to my car a few hours later and it started. Seems to be a passlock issue. A couple of weeks later i was stranded again away from home with the same issue. Again waited a few hours and car started. Now the cars starter is going out and it needs complete brake repair. It only has 52k miles on it. Today stranded at work with yet again the same problem. Had someone else come pick me up and drop me off a half hour away. Will have to go pick it up tomorrow. Tried e-mailing pontiac and calling the number in the back of my owners manual only to be told that is only for people who are still under warranty. I have also tried to find more information about what seems to be a very common issue with this type of vehicle. As of right now i have not replaced any parts on this vehicle. I am not willing to spend money that i don't have fixing something that seems as though it cannot be fixed. All fixes i have read about have only remained temporary with the original problem returning. I still owe 13k on this car and fear to drive it because it will leave me stranded again. I am 4 months pregnant and cannot just get stranded places. This passlock system is suppose to keep people from stealing my car not to keep me from driving it. It is the same as me using the correct password on my computer but the computer saying, "even though that is the correct password we are choosing not to let you in today."

For the last year to year and a half the anti theft device on my 2005 grand am has gone berserk.it randomly prevents me from starting my car.i have to leave 10 minutes early for everything so i am not late because it takes 10 minutes to re-set the device.it is shameful pontiac won't recall for this problem as many people are experiencing it.i simply cannot afford the 200 + dollars an hour to have the dealership fix it.the problem is if you attempt to fix it yourself (i've been told it's a sensor issue) you could end up setting the anti-theft/passlock device off and never get it to re-set.as it is, i know i can re-set it in 10 minutes (though by then i'm often hot and sweaty and grumpy with melted ice cream).help!it's just not fair.my local dealership will not tell my mechanic how to fix it; they want me to bring it in.

Ignition switch it stick and sometime dose not want to turn off.

Dt*:the contact stated while attempting to start the engine, the ignition wires from the starter to the ignition switch must be rubbed together to start the vehicle.the vehicle was not inspected by a dealer.there was a nhtsa recall, # 00v287000 regarding the electrical system: starter assembly.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.the manufacturer was contacted.

I just read the very first complaint on my car while ago..... Every single thing thats happened to her, has happened to me. I've always been told to never buy a grandam....but i couldnt really afford anything else. I needed something reliable. To make a long story short, i bought my car in september of last year. I have had little small problems, but nothing big til about 5 months after i purchased it. I kept hearing grinding noises coming from my front anxels....no one can seem to figure out that problem, so its still occuring. My drivers side window sticks and goes up and down when it wants to....the lock pad on my drivers side, fell out and even with it, screwed down to the door panel, still wont work right. The car rides really really rough. Had everything from suspension to axles checked out, nothing seems to be wrong....but i know theres something messed up badly .... Somewhere. My ignition is my biggest problem tho. I noticed it at about 44 thousand miles.... Sometimes when i went to crank it..... It would hesitate badly and sometimes not start at all. It has gotten alot worse now..... Now all it does is click like its a battery problem.... It will click sometimes, then on the second try, it will crank with hesitation... Other times, there is no sign of a problem. My back window leaks air constantly and leaks when it rains.... The trunk leaks when it rains.... What else?? how bout everything!!!! my car sucks!!!!

I'm not sure police and fire departments, media coverage made the local issues in colorado springs, colorado.

My husband has a 2005 chevy truck with 30000 miles. I own a 2005 pontiac grand am, both with 45000 miles, both driven for pleasure. I just replaced front and rear brakes. My abs and no trac light is on. I was told my hub was bad. My husband just replaced a hub on his truck as well, no warranty! i was told by auto zone and the people who work on my car that gm has a bad hub and knows it. I can not afford to replace mine at this time so i have to park the car.

I had no ideal this car had so many recalls, i purchased the car used about a year ago my daughter complained about gas fumes in the back seat, and the front end has popped and cracked since i got it the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong and my signal lights tore up completely on halloween night, no signal would work however my emergency flashes did the mechanic checked them and told me it was in the switch that controlled my signal and emergency flashers . It has a short in it after working on it about an hour he got the signal lights working and told me not to turn my emergency flashers on again because my signal lights would tare up again also they are a issue with my headlights where one headlight won't burn, it goes out sometimes and sometimes it burns the garage could not find anything wrong with it they said it must be in the wiring my fog lights also will not work it seems thatthey are something wrong with the wiring i have still not got these issues fixed.

During starting or regular driving, the security light will come on. Soon after, the car may shut down or will not start at the next ignition cycle. This is due to a widely-known failed passlock or vats system. It is not due to user error, and is potentially dangerous if not fatal at the wrong time.

Will not turn over unless you leave the key on for 8 minutes-pass lock issue i am told and is quite prevalent.....why is there not a recall????

When i took my foot off the accelerator pedal, the pedal stuck and did not return back up. Instead it stayed down as though it was still being depressed causing the engine to rev. I had to physically grab the accelerator pedal and pull it towards me to try and return it back to its normal position. This happened on several occasions and i had to have the entire accelerator assembly replaced, i called gm only to be told that the recall on this known problem was for the 03 grand am models, not the 05 models. I wonder how many people have to die before gm decides they are better off financially to recall the 05 models?

Had to replace intake manifold gasket due to gm dexcool coolant corroding the gasket.if not replace engine failure would occur.

I have a 2005 pontiac grand am, and ever since i got it the lights in the car and the headlights dim, while i accelerate.i have taken it in to the garage i bought it from several times and they never fixed it.i am still having the problem and it is getting worse.the told me there may be a short in the wiring and they would have to tear the whole thing apart to find it.another concern i have is i have 70,000 miles on my car and i have had to put head gaskets and lifters on this car.no one can believe that happens with such low mileage.my sister works with a girl who had the same problem at about the same mileage. (same year).

I bought this car in februaruy 2007, and as soon as i got home with it the interior light stopped working. The interior light kept going on and off, it would only work when it wanted to. I brought the car to the dealer ship and they said they fixed it, but i am having the same problem again. I have only had this car for 4 months, and this wasthe 2nd time that i wa s bringing it to the dealership for the same problem ,and now i am having problem with the air conditioner light.the car is almost brand new, cost me about $17,000.00, and only had about 20,000 miles on it.

There is a clicking sound like the signal light is not working. With out having the signal is not on. We have replaced themultifunction switch and the hazard switch. This has not taken care of the problem. We have also seen smoke coming from the steering column two different times, once before replacing multifunction switch one after, the sound is coming from the dash. Have also had problems with the back drivers side tail lights, sometimes the worked others not.

Please excuse me for not knowing when this first happened.for a long time, i have had people tell me my brake lights were out, and then when i'd take the car in for service, they'd say they were working perfectly.i've also had this problem with other lights on the rear of the car.also, my cruise control sometimes will not work correctly.today i received an email from your organization telling about a recall on 2005 g-6s with just these problems!i immediately phoned gm to tell them that my car is not a g-6 but is having the same issues.they said they would not help me because the lights have to be not working when i take the car into a dealership.i read off the email you sent me the "remedy" which would be undertaken on the g-6s, and asked for the same remedy.they said i'd have to wait and see if the recall is ever expanded to include grand ams, too, and not just g-6s.they did not help me whatsoever, even though this is the same problem that i have had with my 2005 pontiac.

The turn signal makes a constant flickering sound, when we bout the car in 2009 from the dealership we took it back to be fixed, they said it was fixed and as soon as we left it starting to it again. Before it didn't do it non stop just every once in a while & it has gotten to the point it does it non stop every time you turn the car on.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. Without warning, the turn signal and hazard lights failed to work. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no permanent remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

My turn signals wouldn't turn off and they just click click click click. It cost meover $300.00 to have this fixed. I was never aware of any recall on this typeof vehicle. I have read the different complaints about this vehicle that had the same problem i had. These cars should have been recalled. If the were, i was never notified and should be compensated for what i paid to have this problem solved.

Flashers will not shut off intermittent and sometimes both come on when you try to turn one way same as issues in nhtsa action # pe05055 they have not fixed this problem just delayed it.

Nothing happened to case this at all.nothing change or installed to make it happen....it just happened.no wrecks or fire or properly damage.a few months ago my 2005 grand am se starting making the random turn signal noise, sometimes it will go constantly other times it'll only do it twice then stop....then start again. When your out driving around constantly hearing click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click, it gets annoying. Is this the problem that will cost ~$300 to fix i'm told to replace the multiswitch which has been a recall for alot of the previous grand am year cars and were covered by the dealership? help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Turn signals just stopped working with no notice at uhaul store while with my 3 young children. Had to drive home with no turn signals. Has less than 60,000 miles. Once stopped, noticed that hazards no longer work also. Brake lights still work. Checked all fuses...couldn't figure it out.

There is an intermediate blinker noise coming from the dash board, when the blinkers are not on. Occasionally the blinkers become stuck. I've also noticed smoke coming from the steering column. I've tried replacing the blinkers and hazard fuses, but this has not helped.

My grand am has a defective turn signal, just as the 00-01 models did. The turn signal has malfunctioned that lead to flickering or total failure of the turn signal lights and the indicator on the instrument panel. It is constantly flickering, it will not stop, i was told that since my steering wheel is smoking because of this my airbag could explode in my face, while driving. I have been advised by a firestone technician that this is a common problem.

This is my second complaint about the smell of fuel fumes a lady that i spoke to stated there should be an investigation about this issue. For my make and model but not my vin number there has been numerous recalls for a situation due to the fuel system. Given my job responsibilities i have to charter adults with disabilities and i've been place under non vehicle compliance due to the strong odor of gas entering my vehicle. I also have my 2 children in my vehicle at all times which for me this is my only transportation. Again there's have been over 500 vehicles of my make and model who's has filed complaints on this situation and has been recalled for those vehicles.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that minutes after starting the vehicle, fuel fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump regulator was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact mentioned that approximately one year prior, the vehicle stalled right after refueling. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who didnot offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 119,764 and the current mileage was 127,479.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that as he started the vehicle, he noticed an overpowering gasoline odor. The contact then discovered fuel leaking from the fuel pressure regulator. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was told that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 07e021000 (fuel system, other:storage:tank assembly:pressure relief devices). The failure and current mileage was 127,000.

There was a recall on my 2005 pontiac grand am ( pressure regulator) i didn't know that there was a recall on the part until the company that fix it told me that it was a recall part. I went on the internet and found the information about it. When i start contacting the dealership about reimbursing me i was given the run around. From what i gather you'll regulates the safety of a vehicle on the road, especially when the defect part could have caused a fire. It's not fair to me that the pontiac dealership has given me the run around . I don;t know what you can do to help me. I'm only asking them to reimburse me of $223.65.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am.when the vehicle is started, the contact smells gasoline.the odor goes away throughout the day.through online research, the contact found nhtsa campaign id number 07e021000 (fuel system, other:storage:tank assembly:pressure relief devices); however, the vin was not included in the recall.he feels that pontiac should pay for the repair due to the safety risk involved.the vehicle has not yet been repaired.the current mileage was 85,000 and failure mileage was 60,000.

Gas smell inside the car coming through the vent when the car is first turned on, when i press the breaks, or when i turn.

The smell of gas out of the blue. At first we thought it was topping off the gas, so we stopped, then just some times it will just smell when you start the vehicle. Also, we have had the car barely oer a year and both the window regulators in the front doors are inoperative and the one part we need is not covered by the warranty and will cost us a little over 500.00 a per window.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am.the contact smelled gas while driving in reverse.a fuel leak was found in the fuel system pressure regulator.he was informed that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 07e021000 (fuel system, other:storage:tank assembly: pressure relief devices).the purchase date and speed were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 60,000.*updated 12/12/07 the consumer stated backed out of the garage smelled fuel under the hood. The consumer stated the fuel regulator was saturated and dripping on wires just below. The consumer stated the regulator has been repaired. Updated 12/12/07

I took my car in for the recall last wednesday, october 29, 2014 after receiving the notice to a gm dealership here in denver, co to fix the ignition problem in the recall. I was told by the service center they cant fix the problem with my ignition without the original set of pontiac keys from the manufacturer. I bought this car fromdrivetime dealership in aurora in 2011, and the sets of keys that i received for the car were cut keys from the local hardware store. Right now i cant get this fixed, this car is dangerous to drive, the fuel line shuts down at any given random time. Im making payments on a car i cant drive, its unsafe. I was hoping the recall would fix this problem. I called drivetime dealer this morning nov, 4th, 2014 to see what they can do for a key and was told they cant help me, the keys that were given to me are the keysthey had at time of sale of the car, my car was bought at an auction she said....where do i get the manufacture original pontiac key for this vehicle, since pontiac is no longer in business? would gm be able to make me a key to this car from the vin so i can drive it? i would like to drive this car without being scared it will shut off, it did last saturday morning on the highway, fortunately no one has been was behind me when it decides to shut off so far !

I purchased this vehicle in april of 2006. September of 2006 the vehicle began locking and unlocking by itself, whether i'm driving or in park. I changed the battery in the remote car alarm, but that did not help. I have three children and i am not comfortable riding ina vehicle with this type of defect.

On july 21, 2011 we drove to the store.when we came out and got into the car (2005 pontiac grand am se, the passenger side seat belt would not pull out.it is completely retracted and will not budge.we did not damage it in any way.now we cannot legally have anyone in the front seat because the seat belt will not engage. I scheduled a repair appointment with the dealer i bought the car from, who tells me it is our responsibility to repair it.rough estimate on cost is $300.00!!!i am certain the garage will want to replace the unit to get full money out of us.i will keep the defective one.

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am.in an attempt to use the rear passenger seat belt, it would not retract intermittently.the vehicle will be taken to the dealer on february 21, 2008 to be replaced.the current mileage was 49,191 and failure mileage was 45,000.updated 03/18/08.*ljupdated 03/18/08

Recall n140350 october ,2019 ignition stop working while on highway. Had to get towed. Won't turn anymore i almost crash because of it.

I was driving my car to an auto parts store to see if they could tell me why my steeringkept going to the left side and because i kept hearing a popping noise, while at the auto store they looked under the hood and the man told me looked like the frame was rusted, and not to drive it, after calling a tow truck the tow truck driver looked under the car and said the engine crossmember bar /cradle was rusted out which held the rack and pinion steering, towed it to an auto body place which informed me to call general motors, called general motors they told me to take it to a gm dealership, and it is now at a general motorsdealership, waiting to see what general motors is going to do, dealership also confirmed that the engine crossmeber bar was completely rusted out, which is why the steering went haywire.

The ignition often slips into accessory mode and my car will be dead the next morning.very annoying.the gear shift will also shift if you accidentally knock it while driving even without pressing the button.

2005 pontiac g6 power steering failed nearly causing an accident.

My car was in the parking lot and i just got off work, on my way out from the lot to the gate with speed of about 5-10 mph, all of sudden the steering wheel started spinning all the way around without stop, front wheels wont move to any direction, thankfully i could stop the car before hitting any thing. It was very scary, soon after i realized that there was disconnection between the steering wheel and the anterior suspension or whatever that connects steering wheels to wheels and direct them. Imagine if this happen while driving in highway with speed, it would have been a disaster to me, my family and other people on the road. Imagine driving car you can't control, can't direct, and all happen all of sudden. I called aaa and tow the car to gm dealer. Test showed: intermediate shaft and clockspring were broken). They replaced: intermediate shaft, rack mounts, frames, coll, clockspring, and steering rack. It costs me $2113.67 and it took 10 days to be fixed. Notice:on my way to work in the morning the car was drivable but i noticed that the steering wheel become heavier.

* this has happened on 2 occasions *i have a 2005 pontiac grand am i had the rack changed as the bolt that holds the steering rack & pinion to the frame had broke at the weld as well as the front part of where steering rack & pinion attach to the frame so i took car to mechanic he put a brand new rack in the car as well as a new frame now about 4 1/2 months later (last week) noticed vehicle was not steering properly, my wife had than went and picked the 2 girls up from school and on the way home she made a turn to pull in the driveway and wouldn't steer at all i did get the vehicle in the driveway and had jacked it up and noticed that yet again the frame ( which is only 4 1/2 months old )was broke in the front where the rack attaches to the frame was snapped right off and the back on both left and right sides are completely broke off as well as the the stabilizer bar bolt and bushing that attach it to the control are were completely gone on the passenger side i have now have to send the vehicle yet again to the mechanic for repair i have had the control arms replaced as well as all bushing etc.. In case that something had been twisted, outter & inner tie rods have been changed as well as front struts and 4 brand new tires and a wheel alignment has been done on the vehicle

The contact owns a 2005 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 mph, the entire instrument panel illuminated intermittently. In addition, the steering wheel failed to respond and the vehicle crashed into a concrete wall. The contact and her child sustained injuries to the arms, wrists, chest, ribs, and the legs which both required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

May 2008 had my right tie rod replacedmay 2009 had my left tie rod replaced. My vehicle only has 54,000 miles on it and i have not hit any curbs.

Dt*: the contact stated that the aluminum underneath the hood was pitted very badly which caused dust to come from the area.the contact expressed concerned about the health hazards this could cause.the dealership has been made aware of the problem. Updated 7/18/2006 -the window on the passenger side hesitated while going up and down.the consumer found rust under the dashboard.

In many occasions i had a couple of incidents, one because of a yellow pole and another because of an object in the freeway. And the air bag wouldn't deployed. I'm not sure police and fire departments, media coverage made the local issues in colorado springs, colorado.

I have a two door grand am and both windows are messed up where they will not power up or down. This has previously happened to me where a plastic bracket snapped off inside the door causing the window to not work. The window is off the track and something is broken on the inside causing this to happen. This is a major problem with pontiac grand ams. It has been well documented but gm has not issued any recall on it. I feel it is a major safety issue as i can't use either window, driver or passenger side, in my car.

I need to know if there has been a recall on this car. When i purchased the car in 2006, there was no horn at that time. Someone told me that there had been a recall for this problem.

On march 23, 2005 my car accelerated on its own and would not stop, which almost caused an accident.contacted gm ,and they said they couldn't do anything about it.i had it at the dealership and they could notduplicate the problem so they could notdo anything.

The driver side front window is stuck down.this is the 4th time it has quit working.it has had the arm mechanism replaced twice and the motor replaced once.all of the other 3 windows have also been worked on for the same thing.
