I drove from the state of virginia, heading to reno, nv to visit family.i was driving a 2003 pontiac grand am se1 3.4l.the conditions of the road were wet, as it was raining.the posted speed limit was 75mph - i was travelling at 68mph.i was involved in a single car accident, in fort bridger, wyoming.a semi-truck cut in front of me, in the left lane, from the right lane - splashing alot of water over my vehicle.i hydroplaned and my car spun out of control to the right.i hit the right side of the road guard rail with the left/front of the vehicle, and then the car slid across the road ramming the left side of the road guard rail, dead center in the rear end.i was wearing my seat belt, but i was still slammed and jolted forward and sideways.neither of my dual front air bags deployed.the speed that was calculated by the highway patrol at the time that i hit the guard rail was at a minimum of 60-65mph.the air bags should have deployed with either impact of the front and rear, at a minimum speed of 35mph, and they did not.i have pictures of the vehicle from the incident.

The other driver ran a red light and i t-boned her jeep, the crash spun my grand am around and ripped the front end almost all the way off my car.my air-bags did not deploy i sustained damage to my shoulder that is for the rest of my life. As hard as the hit was, my air bag should have deployed.why did it not?

I was driving back home from a weekend trip at the lake, when my car made a chiming noise (like the noise it makes when you need gas.) then my air bag light came on and flashed a few times then went off. It kept flashing every now and again until we made a stop. The rest of the way home it didn't make a noise or flash.then a few days later i was driving home from work and it made the sound again and started flashing.i am almost afraid to drive my car because i don't want the air bag to go off with out being in a wreck, but then i am also afraid that the air bag might not go off if i get in a wreck.

While driving vehicle was invovled in a head on collision and airbags did not deploy. Please provide additional information.

The dash is peeling and rolling up it has broke all thevents and has pushed the trim around the speedometer/ rim et down and off. My airbag light comes on often and it is a concern for the passenger side airbag that is starting to push up the cover.starting to have electrical problems due to it pushing pressure on the fuse boxes. I also have it pushing on the door allowing water to run into my car at the fuse box speaker and into my floor. I see this problem in several other vehicles with the dash. These problems are a safety issue and should be addressed and fixed by gmc before a failure to one of these systems and cause injury or death.

Several times since purchasing my 2003 pontiac, there is intermittent clicking coming from the hazard switch area in the instrument panel and several instances of tail light, turn signal, and hazard light failure.have had the problem diagnosed by a mechanic and was told it is coming from the multi function switch in the steering column and will cost more than $300 to fix.i have found other reports of this malfunction from pontiac owners from 1999 up through 2004 and have not been able to find a recall for anything other than the hazard switch.my hazard switch has been replaced and did not alleviate the problem.

Coolant leaked into engine caused problems, wouldn't start half the time, couldn't fill up without gas pump cutting off constantly (took 20 minutes to fill up).took car to dealer and other shops spent tons of money problem not solved. Got so feed up with this car i pulled the tags and bought a honda. It is really unfair how the manufacturer of this car was allowed to get away with putting out such an inferior product. There should have been a major recall on any number of these problems. I was never notified of any recalls or the class action law suit.

We began having problems starting our car, the security light was on and stayed on. Some days it would start and others it wouldn't and then it eventually would not start at all. After being in the shop for a week and stumping the mechanics, we still have not solved the issue. Everything has been checked from the fuel pump to the sensors and they all tested good. Our ignition went bad and since we had it replaced it has been bad. This car has left us stranded places with three small kids. We have to leave the key in the on position for about ten minutes then turn to off then start and sometimes it takes three or four times before it works.

Car will not start, security light blinking on dash.car "thinks" it's being stolen and will not allow the car to start.i'm being told it's related to the passlock system.

2003 pontiac grand am unintended ignition key rotation.*mwthe recall was performed.

I am the original owner of this car and after my lease ended, i purchased it. As of a few years ago, i signed it over to my daughter. As she was driving it, all dash instruments went out, then on, then off. Sometimes it wouldn't come on at all. Eventually we discovered by bumping the dash, everything would come on.as this became a real issue, i called around and was told that the dash instrument cluster was bad, so i purchased a new one. Installed it, and found out it happen again. I sent it in for repair, got it back, re-installed it only to see the same problem. I then purchased a used one,,,,,same thing. Finally decided that it might be the ignition switch. Replaced it and problem solved. I opened up the old switch and found it was all shorted and corroded. My issue is that oct. 2014, my daughter just got a letter of that defect to get replaced. All that time she was driving it, anything could have happened not to mention all the money and time it cost me. 11 years later. Why was gm aloud to hide the defects that long putting safety of drivers and passengers at risk? they new of the problems and ignored them. I'm pissed and rightfully so. I just got a letter on my 2005 cadillac deville for the same issue, 9 years later. All gm ignition switches are bad!! where were you people all those years and what took so long to get something done ?? i blame you too. Maybe your organization needs a shake-up also. Oh, on my cadillac, the dealer just reprogrammed something and never changed the switch and i was told it will be ok now ???? what ???and, my daughter traded in the pontiac.you people need to quit slapping these big companies on the wrist. Don't tell me that 9,,,11 years, it took to realize a defect. Somebody allowed this to happen.i am a former gm employee, retired, 30 years. Let me tell you how screwed over i got by them. Enough said,.

Turn signals about every two tries will stop working and sometimes you can get them to come back on by hitting the hazards.

I have been having issues with the electrical systems in my car for the last 1-1/2 years. When i turn on the car the dash lights/headlights/radio/windows and heater/ac usually won't work right away. While i am driving, they will pop on or off depending on the bumps on the road. Six months ago, the "security" light on my dash started to give me trouble. Apparently, the car sometimes thinks that i am not using the correct ignition key and won't start. I now have to budget an extra 10 minutes into my drive time everywhere i go on the chance that the car's security system needs to reset itself (i had to find the "fix" to this issue on youtube.com which another gm car owner posted, since there was nothing remotely helpful about it in my owner's manual). I went to a dealer to get the insert to my keys and it has not solved any of these problems. My biggest fear is taking my car on highways since these issues still exist, and i am deathly afraid of the possibility of the key moving out of the "run" position and stopping completely which i am aware has happened to other gm vehicles that has caused accidents and fatalities.

Sometimes, when applying the turn signals, the turn signal does not activate, even though the turn signal lever is in the correct position.the relay does not click, and the turn signals do not flash.also, at random times, the turn signal relay can be heard clicking rapidly on and off when the turn signals are not turned on.the turn signals do not turn on when this occurs, just the relay in the dash clicks.as stated, this happens randomly and can go on for hours over a long drive.

Since february of 2015, i have had a constant battle with my turn signal on passenger side of my car hindering my ability to signal properly and renewing my state inspection each year. Have spend large amounts of money attempting to fix this only to realize this is widespread and very common issue with my type and year vehicle. It has been an ongoing incident with this vehicle. The car does not start consistently. I have had to pick my daughter up at all hours of the day. I have had to leave work because she could not get her car started. The car has turned completely off in intersections, and at high speeds. We are using my car because her car is extremely expensive to get fixed. I checked if it was on the list of recalls. It is not, but i do feel it is dangerous. Please compensate me or direct me where to get compensated for the amount of money it will take to replace the key and ignition module. That is what the dealer told me had to be replaced.

I was driving the vehicle on a freeway at 65 miles per hour. With no warning, the engine stopped. Luckily i was in the right lane and could coast onto the shoulder. I tried to restart the vehicle, it would not start. I called for help on the roadside and waited for assistance. The vehicle was sitting for about 10 minutes. I crawled under the vehicle and knocked on the gas tank. I tried to start it again. It started fine. The vehicle has also not started on a separate occasion after sitting for about 6 hours. We have owned the vehicle less than a month.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that the vehicle would not initially start up. After a few moments, the vehicle was able to be started and taken to a local repair shop, but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact also stated that when driving for more than 30 minutes with the heat or air conditioner on, the vehicle would suddenly stall and shut down. She let it sit for 30 minutes and it would restart, but the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where a fuel pump was installed but the failure occurred again after the repair. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 113,000. The failure mileage was unknown.updated 07/01/11

Passlock security system would not allow my car to start. This has been an ongoing problem. I do not feel that i should have to pay gm for them to fix something that has documented problems.

I am unable to drive the car because of the security light that stops fuel from getting to the injectors.have tried to reset the password but it continues to do it. We have been on the highway and lose power and not be able to control the car. We have been late or missed appointments and we are afraid to get into the car because we don't know when or where it will failus. Turns cause it to lose power.

The ignition switch failed and had to be replaced. The problem was that the car would turn on, but no electrical systems (power windows/locks, radio, climate control) would come on when the car started. Would magically come on a few miles down the road. Problem was becoming worse, and check engine light came on.

Car will not start at times. I have been on a forum and alot of people have the same problem. Its the security safetylock(faulty).

It just cost me 611.oo because the wrong switch was put in,auto repair man is willing to talk to is aimesauto repair 88 earle st fall river mass tel 508-673-7510. I don't have all the information, but colonial auto dealer in dartmouth, mass i should not hae had to pay that .i reqest a refund.

Tuesday, 24 apr 2007 1500 hours after workday ended, i-25 southbound at colorado mile marker 104 right lane, weather partly cloudy with partly wet roadway, the pontiac grand am 2003 i was driving at 55 mph started front drive shaking.the vehicle ran off the right side of the highwayand rolled one and one-half times in the borrow ditch.upside down restrained by the seat belt, i noticed the pontiac's air bags had not deployed and the engine was not running.after unbuckling the seatbelt, i, with a scarred forehead, climbed through the drivers side broken out window and exited the vehicle. The colorado state patrol arrived, investigated , had the vehicle towed to the salvage yard, and sent me to the local hospital, an outpatient for the forehead scar.3 july 2014 nhtsa recall 14v400 and gm recall n140350 unintended key rotation for my 1999-2005 pontiac grand am.

My 2003 pontiac has a clicking in the dash underneath the hazard switch. When i turn on turn signal the clicking goes in rhythm with the signals but when i turn the signals off it continues to click, sometimes fast sometimes slow. This is very annoying and i am afraid there may be a short that may cause a fire. I have checked the internet and come to find that many pontiac owners are experiencing the same problem. They have told pontiac about this problem and they just ignore the complaints. I feel there should be a recall on this problem with all the complaints of this matter. This problem seems to be occurring in many pontiac's ranging from 1995 to 2004. I have a 2003 grand am gt. I hope that you have received many complaints for this problem because through my investigating this problem i have found so many with the same problem. Pontiac has to fix this problem before someone's vehicle catches on fire and burns a house down with an attached garage. Please look into this matter and let me know what is going on.as well my battery is discharging now over night, i have to put a charger on it to keep it charged, the battery has the right voltage, as well as the alternator is the correct charging voltage, and the starter is drawing the correct voltage when it does start, all this started when the flasher sticker started 3-wks ago........ "help" !!!!

Parked car to shop.upon returning, car would not start.had towed and was told it was safety switch for ignition.during this time a clicking sound would emit periodically from the ignition or turn signal assemblies.had ignition assembly replaced.worked for a while and then december of 2013, clicking sound reappeared and hasn't stopped.

2003 pontiac grand am stalls while driving has happened 10 times in the last two months pontiac dealer has looked at the car twice for a total of 5 days and has not been able to duplicate the problem no parts have been replaced we were almost rear ended on 4 different occasions.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the all of the warning lights illuminated continuously. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

Beginning in october 2010, the security light showed up on my car dashboard.it briefly was lit and would disappear.over the next few weeks and months, my car would randomly not start and the security light would flash on.i had to have the car towed each time to the dealership which at the time of arrival, the car would then run and the light had disappeared.i was told there was nothing that could be done unless the car was not working.this was very costly in tows and missing work.then i noticed as i would be driving, random single puffs of smoke coming from the steering wheel column.i described it to the dealership and they thought i was crazy.after this happening over and over finally i was told the ignition switch had been fried and needed to be replaced before a fire started and the car would not start again.i wish there would be a recall as i see this seems to be a common and expensive repair problem in pontiac grand am's.what would have happened if my car had started on fire as i was driving!

For no reason the horn would start blowing constantly while it was parked, locked up, in the driveway. Pulled the fuse to stop it. Next day, replaced the fuse and it was ok. Few months later it did it again. Had three occurances after that. Local dealer wants $100.00 plus just to check it out and wouldn't tell me if there was a recall or problems with that. Searching the web lately, i found many complaints of similar electrical issues. I have my daughter driving it to college and want the horn working. I don't feel i should pay someone to repair this when it's an issue of the electrical system being defective. I have had this car since new and want my daughter to have the horn working correctly and not going off at will. I replaced the horn ring contact in the steering column and that was not the problem. How do i get this repaired? it is a safety issue driving it with no horn and i shouldn't have to pay for a defect' please respond to me on this issue. 2003 pontiac grand am.consumer writes in regards to receiving several ignition key recall noticesafter vehicle accident.the consumer as since sold the vehicle.

I have brought my car september 2013.i started having problems in july 2014. My car wouldnt start with the first turn.but i would try again and it starts. So one day driving down the road it stalledon the highway. Never started back up. The mechanic said it was the fuel regulator and oil pressure gauge which he changed. I still had the problem of not starting on the first try. I found out i had a recall on the ignitions switch which was finally changed.i received a letter after the recall was completed. But the recall said it was an electrical switch and they only fixed the key ring.i thought they would change the ignition switch. Now my car still doe the same and mechanics are stating they can not locate the issue. I can be driving down the road and it will stall on me.i need to get this resolved before the hazardous roads conditions are among us.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle was not able to start and the security warning light illuminated. The failure recurred constantly. Dt*: the contact stated while trying to start the vehicle, it would not start. There were lights illuminated on the dash board which indicated the battery was working.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that a security feature caused the vehicle to stall.the mechanic recommended that if this occurred again the key should be turned to the on mode without completely starting the vehicle.the key needed to sit in that position for ten minutes then turn the vehicle off for 5 minutes. After this process, the vehicle should start normally.if the vehicle does not start repeat the previous step two times.the manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was taken.

I own a 2003 pontiac grand am gt which i purchased brand new in 2003. The issue i along with many other gm owners am dealing with is the 'passlock' passive security system. My vehicle began experiencing problems with the passlock system at just 55,000 miles (which is absurd.) the problem is that the passlock system won't properly recognize a valid vehicle key and will require the driver to leave the key in the ignition in the "on" position for ten minutes before the vehicle can be started. After researching the problem online and speaking with other gm owners, my problem is in no way an isolated incident and is a definite widespread problem among gm owners that have their vehicle equipped with passlock. It is ridiculous for gm not to identify the issue as being recall-worthy. A colleague of mine had a similar instance occur in his honda accord which was ultimately fixed with honda issuing a recall on the vehicle. I feel that the recall is imperative based on the amount of money it would cost to fix this problem along with the issues that may occur when having to wait ten full minutes before leaving for your destination (for example, a wife in labor enroute to a hospital.) i realize gm's first and foremost concerning issue is their financial crisis and ability to stay afloat, but i am feeling quite "fed up" with their lack of quality such as: knobs falling off, brand new rattling cars, plastic fasteners for everything, having to remove half of my front end to change a headlight bulb, etc. The passlock issue was the straw on my camel's back.

My 2003 pontiac grand am security system has failed 3 times now leaving me stranded and requiring the car to be towed to a pontiac dealership.the security system when it fails....shuts down the engine.i'm lucky that i haven't been hit yet when this happens.

I have a 2003 pontiac grand am v6. I bought it in 2005 from the dealer. Since then i've had to replace my ignition 3 times. The alarm system would go off in the middle of the night. The security signal would blink and my car would not and will not today for the 3rd time start. It has cut off on me on the freeway, i would pull over and the car start up after about 10 min. The sar not starting has been going on since i bought it most times it starts, but when it doesn't the tellme i have to replace my ignition. Im beginning to think its much more than that.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.the contact noticed that whenever the vehicle was turned off, it would fail to restart immediately.the failure occurred intermittently and without warning.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 84,000. Updated 08/14/09.*ljthe consumer stated the problem was within the security system. The turn signals would click while driving. Updated 08/14/09.

Horn blows when no one is around the car, or just driving down the road.last time this happened the horn burnt out, the cruise control kicks in when not even on, the blinker makes a blinking sound inside the car.

Normally the anti theft system kicks on and the security light blinks and you have to put the key in the on position for ten min. And wait for the security system to reset. It was -7 degrees outside and i thought i waited exactly ten min. But maybe it was too early. If you don't wait ten min. Exactly then you have to restart the procedure all over again. I had my infant in the car, which made things worst. I got stranded at the grocery store right when they closed so me and my son had to wait 20 min. For the security light to reset. This is a known issue for all grand ams ranging from 1998 to 2003 its called a passlock system malfunction. I don't know how many other ppl. Reported this issue but i just want to make sure i pitch in to get this issue known. I've been stranded in bad parts of chicago before and at the worst times. Hope this helps. Here is a forum link to see all the other ppl who are dealing with issue. Its 40 pages long. Please look into this. It should be a recall, and this isn't the only site where ppl are complaining. Search google, youtube, yahoo questions and you will see its happening to everyone.http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/15929/pontiac/grand-am/pontiac-grand-am-security-passlock-problems/p3.

I've been having trouble with the ignition switch. Without warning the car will not start, and the security light comes on. After having it towed to a mechanic and 170 dollars latter i was told it was the ignition switch. It comes in two parts and no one know which part it needs. I've seen two other mechanics since, same story. This month finally, the pontiac grand am was added to the recall list for the ignition problem,,,,my model and year.no one can tell me yet if my car is or is not one of the cars being considered for the recall...this recall is on the pontiac grand am 1999- 2005....mine is a 2003. Please help me find out if this car is safe to drive. Thank you

Dt:while driving the vehicle stalled.the first time it happened wasfebruary 2004, and the secondtime it was in july 2004.the most recenttimeit stalled was september 19, 2005.the first time they thought the fuel injectors were clogged.the secondit was that computer needed reprogramming.and the thirdtime they said the fuelpump/sensorneeded to be replaced. The problem still occurred even after they made the adjustments.

There were problems with the battery, ignition switch, wiring.*mrthe computer was replaced, a battery was installed, wiring was tightened, a key ignition was added, and the switch lights/dash component(problem not specified).when the brakes were applied at a speed of 40 mph, the lights would act erratic along with the rpm going down.the rpm and light problem would occur almost everyday and sometime the vehicle would shut down.the consumer no longer operates the vehicle and requested either a new vehicle or a refund.(model gt)scc

After pumping gas came back to my car and it wouldn't start. I had power but it wouldn't turn over. Banged on fuel line, replaced spark plugs. Put it in neutral and pushed it out of the gas terminal. Eventually figured out that if i put my key in accessory mode and sat for 10-15mins to wait for the security light to stop blinking that my car would start back up again. It was fine for a month then happened again. This time we thought it was the fuel line. Had it towed to a garage. Eventually started after putting it in accessory again. A part of the bcm was cleaned. Now this issue has been happening more and more frequently, to the car not starting almost every other day. While it hasn't been diagnosed, most likely it is an issue with the passlock security system. The past 4 times the car hasn't started, i put my key in acc and sat for 10 mins then it starts back up again.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that the horn worked intermittently. The dealer diagnosed that the air bag melted onto the electrical parts inside the steering wheel. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

While driving at night the headlights are very dim. Consumer states there is an electrical problem. Consumer has taken the vehicle to the dealer twice. Consumer states he was denied service, which resulted in a fire.

Fast clicking sound(sounds like the blinker is going but it is not) very irritating and i have read online that a lot of people have this problem and pontiac will not recall it. And it costs over 400 dollars to fix.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am se1. The contact stated that the keys could not be removed from the ignition. This failure occurred at least three times in the past and the ignition switch was replaced once before. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who would replace the ignition switch for a second time at the owner's expense. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,000.

No prior warning.car died in middle of freeway.unknown or unable to duplicate problem.

03 grand am. To start off with, i had the same random clicking sound. I bought a new switch from advanced, and the problem was fixed. For years now the security light will come on when driving randomly, but the car will not shut off or not turn on. But now i am having major electrical issues with everything else. Sometimes cruise control cuts off on its own. When i start the car sometimes nothing electrical will come on. Sometimes the instrument panel will but not the a/c controls or headlights. Or vise verse. It is all random. It will eventually come on when driving. If i drive in the dark, i have to have my headlights, so there is an issue. I do not want to wait until a recall is made because pontiac does not care about us because we already paid for the car. I just want to know how to fix it. I cannot afford dealer prices. So does anyone know how to fix the issues?*ln

Passlock problems had the cylinder kit replaced, car still goes into the security pass problem, took it back same day after it was supposedly fixed, same problem car turns over but does not start, have to repeat several times then it stars, security red light flashes on when turning over key to start engine, no other problems detected by dealer ship, again going to take it in this friday oct 11th 2013, have read on forums of this repeated problem with gm carsforum is townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0f6220/52 pontiac grand am security passlock problems.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that a fuse had blown from the ignition module, wires had broken and shorted and connectors of coil pack smoked and burned. They repaired and rerouted the power steering pressurehose because the hose was putting pressure on the wiring and connector. The manufacturer was contacted who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 152,482.

I have been having trouble starting my car it will crank but not turn over but after a few tries it will finally start. It is a common problem within other grand ams. I have spent money on the problem but yet no one can find the problem.

I have 3 different problems with my 2003 grand-am and after doing research i've found out that numerous of others are experiencing the same problems.1st complaint-the pass lock security.when i go to start my car the engine will not turn over.this may happen several times a day.my last grand-am did the same thing. I found that you have to turn to key to the on position and wait 10 minutes.on saturday i had 4 stops to make and all 4 times it would not start.2nd complaint- i've almost gotten rear ended due to the fact my turn signals do not work all the time.iv'e read on several post sights that people are having the same problem.several said that when the hazard button was replaced it the problem was resolved.3rd problem and the most serious.several times this year from out of nowhere my accelerator pedal sticks.twice i was at a stoplight and had my foot off the brake pedal and all of a sudden my car just took off, thank goodness i was not close to the car in front of me or i would have rearended that car.my husband told me to look and see if there were any recalls on my car.i did and i found out that 2003 grand ams were having this same problem.i called gm and reported the problem and was told that my vin# did not fall within the vin range!!!i'm having the same problem and my vin# is not in the same range????...i don't get it.why are these problems not being looked into by gm?if several people are having the same exact problem why is gm not doing anything about it?

This is regarding a 2003 pontiac grand am.there is defiantly a defect with the security/electrical system.i have read countless complaints about the same exact problem hundreds of people are having with the same exact car, and they are all asking, why is there not a recall???it originally started back in march of 2010 with the car turning over when started, then shutting off right away with the security light flashing on the dash.after a bit of research, i learned that i could just turn the key to the acc and wait 10 minutes and the system will reset.but this would happen every 2 weeks or so, and makes the car pretty unreliable, just for that fact.then about two weeks ago 5/26/10 i was driving home and it shut off on the highway.on the highway.i could have gotten killed.now it won't start at all and it's because the electrical system wont let it.if so many people have the same complaint, why is there not a recall?this is defiantly a safety issue if it is shutting off while driving.i understand that gm has gotten a rect government bail out and a huge recall like this will not look good on the resume, but how can they expect to stay in business when they are knowingly putting out systems that fail?it's frustrating, because my car is perfect, all except for this one problem that is quite costly.i am also reading that others are dropping hundreds to "fix" this problem, only to have the same issue occur within weeks.i just don't have that kind of money to play around with, and i'd rather not worry that every time i drive my car that it might just shut off on me.it could get me killed, and that's a reality.it could do the same to thousands of people that have the same exact car.who wants that much blood on their hands?

The security light in my car flashes and my car wont start leaving me & my kids stranded. This happens all the time.we have changed the fuel pump and now we are being told to change the brain or the ignition.tired of being stranded w my kids!

Horn blows when no one is around the car, or just driving down the road.last time this happened the horn burnt out, the cruise control kicks in when not even on, the blinker makes a blinking sound inside the car.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle she noticed that the key would not turn inside of the ignition switch. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The ignition cylinder was replaced 3 years prior to the recent failure. The current and failure mileages were 58000.

Dt*: the contact stated when the key was turned in the ignition, the vehicle did not start.previously, a roadside service was contacted, who shifted the vehicle into neutral, and the vehicle started.on this occasion, shifting the vehicle into neutral did not work.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the problem.the manufacturer was also notified.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.when the key was turned in the ignition, the vehicle did not start.the contact stated that the failure could be with the path-lock system.the vin and engine size were not available.the current and failure mileage were 80,000.

Car stalling in starting. Car would attempt to turn over without success. Taken to 2 mechanics who could not identify the problem and one stated they could not even duplicate the problem. After getting stranded over a 2 week period around the holidays, the car was taken to the dealership which stated the module and coil needed to be replaced. Paid$500 to replace the items to be stranded the same day the car was picked up from service. Was then told it was short in the "new" module which shorted the pcm (?). 2 weeks later the car began acting up again with the same issue for me to take it to a different dealership, for them to lock my cylinder and then want to charge me $700+ dollars for them to repair something they broke. Then advised me that i would have to pay that for them to fix the lock cylinder and ignition switch for them to continue diagnosing the problem.

The ignition switch would not turn to the off position when parked. You could not remove key from ignition. Dealer had to replace ignition switch and key because they could not get it out. If i drove the car i had to leave key in ignition.*as

For several months the security light on my 2003 pontiac grand am would come on and would not go off until i stopped the car let it sit for awhile.on 8/15/2006 the car would not start and had to be towed to goodyear.the goodyear store informed me that they could not start the car and suspected that the computer was bad since they could not get a negative feed to the fuel injectors.they suggested that i tow the car to a dealer.i had the car towed to the dealer when the car was unloaded it started.i was informed by the service person that it appeared to be a result of the ignition not being able to identify the chip on the key. After they diagnosed the problem i was told that it was the ignition lock cylinder was activating the kill switch and that it had shorted the bcm thereby preventing the car from starting. I was also informed that i would have to replace both of them or the car could shut down at any time.the car has 40,000 miles and is out of warranty the cost to replace these items was $752.00.i have noticed on several websites that this problem is common to this vehicle and is very expensive to repair.furthermore, based on the information provided at the dealer this could happen while driving which could cause an accident.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am with a factory installed security system. While approaching a parking lot, the vehicle stalled. She was able to turn the key in the ignition and all electrical components of the vehicle were operating, however the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where they replaced the entire computer system in the vehicle. On a later date, the failure occurred a second time. The vehicle was towed to a local service shop. The mechanic found the security system was defective. He advised putting the key into the ignition in the on position without starting, wait for the red security system light to stop blinking (10-15 minutes) and then proceed to start the ignition. On a separate occasion, the failure occurred again. The contact followed the mechanic's previous advice and was able to start the vehicle. The manufacturer had not yet been contacted. No additional repairs were made to the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 74,797.

On a trip tothe mountains ignition:anti-theft controllerfailed to start. Family stranded in mountains. $213 tow .i was told it would cost between $450 and $1000 to get it fixed. Still won't start after following owner's manual instructions. I would like to know how to disable it to prevent being stranded in future.

Passlock theft deterrent system activates for no reason, which shuts down fuel pump and will not allow car to start.

Malfunction in the security system, where the car will not start.a 2003 pontiac grand am.when go to start the security systems acts as if someone is stealing the car, which our son is just trying to start his car to go to school.he was stranded at a gas station 3 months ago, & just last night stranded at a car wash.he had to push his car back home, since, everything was closed at the time.i have also noticed that, there have been many other people that has had the same problems with their vehicle as our son has.the car space automotive forums has got a whole list of complaints on their web-site of alot of people having the same and similar problem with their vehicle.the security pass lock problems, where the security light comes on flashing & then it shuts the car down, where then it will not start, until it is reset or fixed.

The car will not turn over properly because the passlock/securtiy systme is failing.i have to turn the ignition on to the on position wait 10 minutes until starts again. This is not very safe for myself and my family.

Security feature failure on 2003 ponitac grand am.light had been flashing off and on.gm stated this is isolated incident.fortunately, car was in driveway, but had to be towed to dealership.repair was $469.gm also stated no active recalls, but dealership informed computer update from 2003 needed.gm customer service is poor.have had problems with brake, but will investigate further.will research if same as other complaints.

Passlock system doesn't allow car to start.

A local pontiac dealership worked on my car for unrelated issues.when i went to pick up my car, the dealership could not find my keys.i had to get a spare set of keys from my home and finally pick up my car.after this incident occurred, i noticed the "security" light would come on randomly.eventually, it would not start. Also on a random basis.this has happened countless times and i am absolutely frustrated.it is now happening on a weekly basis.i can't afford for this to happen any longer.the pontiac dealership has advised me that it will cost $400+ for this to be fixed.again, i am unable to do that.i keep very good maintenance on my car and this is out of my control.i have re-set the passlock system as the pontiac dealership has advised me to and now it is happening more often.this is ridiculous and i should not have to deal with a situation like this.

Passlock system on 2003 pontiac grand am made my daughters car go dead and it would not start.left her stranded on side of road for hours.come to find out, this is common problem with pontiac grand ams.would this not justify a recall?don't know if this qualifies, but sure needs looking into.agree?

2003 pontiac grand am suffered ignition switch failure that is now the subject of a recall in other gm vehicles. Vehicle was being driven through a construction zone of an interstate highway when, after going over a substantial bump, the weight of a large number of keys pulled on the ignition switch and caused it to turn the car off. After a few seconds of panic, the driver was able to put the vehicle into neutral and start it up again. Luckily, no collision or other injury resulted.vehicle is still owned by same driver but driven very little now due to fear of problem recurring.

The turn signal relay randomly starts clicking, will not stop untill car is turned off.the relay has been replaced by the dealer once and it worked for 2 days, if i play with the turn signal stick on the steering column i can get it to stop, but as soon as i let go the clicking begins again

I have a 2003 pontiac grand am gt coupe that i bought new.it has been in the shop twice since may when i bought it.the problem was that pontiac's lancing plant did not finish the car befor they put it out for sale.there were ground wires missing and some that were not connected or hooked up backwards.this caused several different problems including having the alternator and battery ruined.i called pontiac to get the address of the plant that made the car so i could report the problem to them and was treated like i was stupid buy ean dunkin the person on the phone.they offered a smart care package plan for up to 12000 miles as compinsation for the inconvenience.i became upset by the way the man was talking to me and asked for a $1000 rebate and the service package.he told me he would have to call back.when he did he said no and withdrew the offer for the service package.i asked to speak to a supervisor and with in an hour i had a contact phone number and accepted the service package.i just got the letter and it says that it will take 8 weeks to process.by then i will have had two oil changes as it is due for another and the 12000 mile limit they put on will be almost over.

I purchased this vehicle in june 2003 with 1695 miles on it.one month later it's in the shop because there was water leaking in through the moonroof's open/close button and the trunk failed to open using the remote or the button on the driver's door.the dealer had the windshield resealed and fixed the connection problem for the trunk.now the vehicle's fog lamps go on and stay on for no reason, even when the vehicle is turned off.i had to take the fuse out for the weekend until i can take it into the dealership.this is the second electrical problem i've had and the car only has 4200 miles on it.*ph

I am having the same turn signal issue( hazard switch) in my 2003 grand am that gm issued a recall on for the 2000, 2001 models. Why is the 2003 excluded from this recall???

Please look into this matter and let me know what is going on.

I just received a letter about a recall i paid for last year. How do i go about getting reimbursed for this? also i'm noticing my signal lights don't work unless i hit the 4 way lights for a couple of seconds, then the signal lights will work.

Vehicle completely loses power ,engine shuts off) while driving! starts right back up , but considerable danger as it stops with no warning of any kind, have been very close to being hit by vehicle behind me not knowing that i had no power to do anything, after car comes to stop, have been able to restart.. Mostly happens when slowing down, or taking foot off of accelerator. Going different speeds, happened 6 times just taking it to shop vehicle has 134300mi , happened at different speeds.

Since february of 2015, i have had a constant battle with my turn signal on passenger side of my car hindering my ability to signal properly and renewing my state inspection each year. Have spend large amounts of money attempting to fix this only to realize this is widespread and very common issue with my type and year vehicle. Gm is aware of this dealer safety malfunction but is only recalled certain vin numbers as to fix as few as possible. Not having turn signals has nearly caused me to be involved in several accidents. Please help me and tell me what i can do. Now on my third year and attempt to fix this ongoing safety defect.

The car suddenly stopped.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. Hi, my grandam overheated while i was driving. I noticed that the coolant compartment was empty. I did not receive a low coolant warning from the car system. I had topped off my coolant compartment about two months ago. When i look at the engine block, i can see that there is a trail of coolant coming out theengine gasket. I did some googling and noticed that this is a common problem with the grandams and that there was a class action lawsuit filed against gm a couple years ago. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle as i worry if the engine will catch fire.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.the contact stated upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for another service, the mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle was leaking fuel.the contact had noticed that the "check engine" warning light was continuously illuminated.the contact was then driving approximately 35 mph when vehicle began to shudder.the contact then coasted over to an emergency lane and the engine stalled.the engine did not restart and was towed to the contact's residence.the vehicle had not been taken back to a mechanic for diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number :07e021000(fuel system, other).the approximate failure mileage was 155,825.

Car overheated cuz of a blown head gasket failure i have to replace the whole engine

Bought the vehicle used. 2003 pontiac grand am 3.4l v6. Constant ticking from hazard light switch. Grounding problems. Looked for recalls at gm dealership. No recalls on the problem. No choice but to remove hazard light fuse until repair. Should have been covered by gm. Gonna cost us $500! the transmission cooling lines rotted away causing coolant spraying everywhere causing white smoke and overheating of the engine. Spraying the serpentine belt and water pump. With visual inspection and touching confirmed spot. 3/4 of reservoir is leaked out causing rust on sub frame. Also front rocker panel bad. Front passenger panel rotted out. Bad oxidizing on the manifold cover and exhaust manifold cover. Shame on gm for not covering all gas on the hazard light malfunction and multi switch issues.

Blown head gasket and then blown motor

I had 2 kids in the car,the accelerator pedal stuck, car kept speeding up.. I was using both feet on brake & er brake as well!! i was swerving in & out of traffic, running red lights & praying for our lives,we got up to 85 miles per hour in a 35mph zone!! the car was revving out of control & black smoke was coming out from under the hood! i managed to slam it into park & we all jumped out & ran, very frightening & almost ended in a collision. The intake manifold gasket cracked at1yr old and 10,000 miles, the tires needed resealing at 5000 miles. Ridiculous!!

Vehicle has been "repaired" as per nhtsa recall #14v400000 within the last two (2) months.on wednesday april 29, 2015, at approximately 7:30 pm cdst, when driving the vehicle is shut off again just as it did prior to the recall "repair".keys on key chain are minimal (6).vehicle restarted with no further issue or indication that there was a issue with the engine (no check engine light, etc.).

My ignition cylinder switch is making my car to stall and shut off while i am driving and i had it replace on 4/8/15 and was driving and it not fix, my car has cut off on me while driver 3 time since i got it from the dealership i am not driving it and what the dealership to send a tow to pick the car up. I am not safe in the car and spent $377.00 for labor and the part for it not to function correctly. I had my key replaced on a recall and when i got that service my ignition locked and the key would not turn the car on.

While driving on expressway or street the car stalls without any warning . The car unexpectedly diedcutting off while driving. Must try to merge off and out of traffic immediately. Happens on smooth and rough roads. Unsafe. Driving a 2003 grand am with same problems as the recalled vehicles. Please advise, support and service.

04/08 i read an article in the detroit free press about gm settling a california class action lawsuit for $29 million related to their long life dex coolant listing possibly 1.3 million gm vehicles with the potential for cross contamination of oil & coolant due to their dex coolant dissolving the silicone intake manifold gasket.owning both this 03 and a 99 grand am gt on the list i contacted pontiac customer assistance to ask why no notice was given but they simply played dumb and delayed and deflected my concerns for months. They insisted i take my cars to my local dealer and pay for the diagnosis! i responded i have 29 million reasons why i shouldn't have to.finally after being stonewalled for months i took a day off work 11/08 and took my 99 to somerset pontiac in troy,mi and after 1st being denied any free inspection the service mgr. Had a mechanic come to the write up area, pop the hood, unscrew the oil cap revealing a brown froth he said"yeap you have that problem" but refused any service unless gm stepped up to the plate as they had put undisclosed self imposed limits on claims such as less than 10 years,70,000 miles and a 10/19/08 filing deadline.the 03 met all restriction except the deadline but my escalation to the district service mgr.paid no dividends.when gm went into bankruptcy i figured no sense kicking a dead horse and paid to have the gasket replaced on the 99 at a cost just over $800 & hoped annual non dex coolant replacements & regular oil changes might avoid the same problem in the 03 but an oil change at matthew hargraeves chevy on 2/12 discovered oil in the coolant.further online settlement research revealed that the bankruptcy court forced gm to extend the claim deadline to 9/30/09 making my claim on the 03 completely valid.but again my efforts thru the dealership,gm customer service & up to the manager of strategy& reputation fell on deaf ears.

2003 pontiac grand am with several problems. Consumer states that the vehicle had a problem with the turn signal. Consumer was informed that there was no recall on his vehicle. Then experienced problems with the intake manifold gasket.the consumer was informed there was oil in the coolant recovery tank, which required replacement of the intake manifold, valve cover gaskets, thermostat and coolant.the consumer also stated the cruise control did not engage properly and there was a problem with the turn signal flasher.

While driving vehicle hesitated while accelerating. Upon applying the brakesvehiclecontinued to accelerate.consume drove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, andmechaniccould not duplicate the problem.the driver informed the mechanic this problemoccurred more than once.

I was driving approx. 70 mph on the highway in my 2003 grand am gt when all of a sudden, with no warning at all, my car shut off completely!!!!the steering wheel locked up, the brakes felt very hard to push, and the car almost came to an immediate stop.the only thing that didn't stop working was the radio.i started the car after five minutes and it started right up as if nothing had happened. The same thing happened to me again, about 4 months later.i was driving about 35 miles an hour when all of a sudden the car shut off with absolutely no warning what-so-ever!!!!!the car started after a few minutes but the "service vehicle soon" and trac off" lights came on.the next morning we started the car and the lights on the dash didn't come on.my husband drove the car that morning and it cut off on him while driving about 45 mph on telegraph.he started the car after waiting about 5 minutes and it started without a problem.we paid belle tire to hook up the diagnostic machine to the car to see if they could detect the problem.they said something showed up that had to do with the abs sensor.we had that fixed and thought it had solved the problem.unfortunately it didn't.....the car shut off again!!!it happened about 10 months later (which was just a couple weeks ago).i was at a light, turned right and about 3 seconds after i turned, the car shut off again with no warning!!!!i waited a couple minutes, started the vehicle and it started right away.the "service vehicle soon" light and the "trac off" light stayed on while i drove about 20 minutes to my house.i parked the car for about 10 minutes, started it up and the dash lights went out.everything seemed fine, as if nothing had happened.there's a little over 59,000 miles on the odometer.less then two weeks later, just yesterday 11/27/06, i was turning onto jefferson in detroit, when the same thing happened again.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.while driving approximately 35 mph, the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they could not duplicate the failure.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on four separate occasions for the identical failure, but there were no resolutions.the failures occurred intermittently.the vehicle owner's manual specified a defect with the pass lock and anti-theft device system, which could result in unexpected stalling.there were no injuries, but the driver stated that this was a life threatening situation.the failure mileage was 27,000 and current mileage was 28,300.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.when the contact took his vehicle to the dealer for routine maintenance on july 27, 2007, a technician informed him that the intake manifold gasket failed.the technician stated that the failure was caused by two different types of metal that were used on the head and intake manifolds.when heated, both metals expanded at different rates and caused the gasket to fail.the manufacturer admitted that the failure was directly related to a design defect.there is a remedy for the failure, but the contact would be responsible for the repair costs.an authorized dealer repaired the vehicle on may 5, 2008.the failure mileage was 24,691 and current mileage was 30,826. Vehicle constantly overheats cooling fan does not come on. Fluid level needs replenished constantly. Engine pressure build up from the overheating.still cannot resolve the problem and very costly to repair in the shop. Please do something with these cars have researched lots of the same issues on the internet.estimated cost to repair 967.00. Which some people cannot afford. This is a manufacture issue as the intake manifold seem defective.

I have a 2003 pontiac gran am gt ram air four door sedan.several weeks we experienced a problem where the car would suddenly accelerate withoutthe gas pedal being depressed, the car would continue to accelerate until the gas pedal was quickly depressed or i hit the brakes.i took the car to my repair shop and they replaced a cable.the problem ended than a few weeks later reappeared.i took the car to a pontiac dealer (adams/annapolis) and they cleaned out some connections, but the problem returned shortly after this.i returned the car to adams and they replace the computer. This appeared to end the problem buti experienced the same problem once yesterday but it has not reoccurred since.

2003 pontiac grand am gt started not starting 8 months ago, not a regular thing on/off, been towed numerous times has cost alot of money in fees, had new ignition, new key. Old part is available. Tried turning key on waiting 10 minutes doesn't change anything. Car will start when it feels like it, sometimes leaving my young daughter at work late at night.

I have a 2003 grand am gt, seen others had intake manifold issues too, heard there was a recall on 2002 but not 2003, looking if there is a recall on it, if so how do i go about fixing it, because i already paid $600 to get it fixed because i had to, the grand am is our main car to transport both children places. Also, the accelerator issues...i have yet to get a email, or letter or anything for that matter about any of the recalls on this veh...do they pick and choose who they send them to or what?

2003 pontiac grand am 2.2 liter ecotec timing chain failure with no warning!

This didn't involve anything tragic.i have a 2003 pontiac grandam and it was having problems with leaking coolant and i have found out that my intake manifold gasket is needing to be replaced and also learned from the mechanic that i took it to that this model of car is infamous for having that problem and his does several repairs of the same type of car for the same problems every month and i think this should be addressed by the gm manufacturers because they put a faulty part on this type of car and it is going bad and could subsequently cause the head gaskets to blow on the car if it is not repaired and also i am having problems with the accelerator and when i called about a recall they told me that for my vin on my car their was currently no recalls which is a bunch of bull because my car is also having that problem my accelerator is sticking and the car keeps going even when i am not pushing the gas pedal and it is really scary sometimes but it doesn't do it every time i start the car its just unpredictable and happens out of the blue.

Engine cooling system rear head gasket leaking coolant intake manifold leaking coolant.

Was on the freeway when car started over heating and just shut off. I had to roll onto the side of the freeway was almost hit by two differnt cars. Had it taken to dealership i bought it from they fixed the head gaskets, but car is still overheating.

The ignition switch/rear hub assembly, andfan motor, havebeen either serviced and/or replaceddue tofluids leaking out. Check engine light was on, and the vehicle was still leaking fluid.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs.

Pontiac gram am 2003, now has 75,000 miles.low coolant light turned on.contacted dealership and was told to add manufacturer brand coolant.a week later low coolant came back on and added more coolant.took into shop for repair and was told that coolant was leaking into the engine manifold and will need to be replaced.cost of the repair $1,250.00.they told me that seal gasket was worn out and caused the leak in to the engine and it happens when car reach a higher mileage.i believe this is a design flaw and should have been corrected from the year 2000 models.this same problem caused my other car pontiac grand am 2000 to die out at 80,000 miles and only that time the warning was engine light came on before the car died and would not start again.i don't see this type of a problem with other car manufacturer even if the car reach mileage 60,000 - 80,000 miles.

We went in for a routine oil change, when the mechanic advised that there was antifreeze in the oil.the intake gasket was leaking.our car only has 70,000 miles on it. Mutual friends of ours, also had the same problem with previous grand ams around the same mileage.

We purchased a 2003 grand am from gunn pontiac in san antonio in august 2003. Within a month the car would stall out at stops or during turns. We brought the car in twice to the dealership and was told that they couldn't duplicate the problem. The car has done this for the last 11 months on and off. In july 2004 the slave cylinder went out and i was told that it would be 1200.00 to repair it. The service consultant told me the 2 problems could be related because he had never seen this part go out at 40,000 miles and that the cylinder should last much much longer. Once the car was repaired i was then told that the dealership would not help us w the repairs. I talked to the service manager , who basically called me a liar about the problem w the car stalling and that i would have to take this problem up w pontiac national reps. After 2 and a half weeks of no answers from them we went and picked up the car on friday(8/20/04). Tonight the car stalled out 4 times on a drive. I an discussed w pontiac and their lack of service!!

Purchased 2003 pontiac grand am se1 with 3.4 liter 3400 sfi v-6 engine on 7/30/03.n 8/27/03, 2624 miles on vehicle. Experienced major problem of car died out and stalled while driving was able to restart auto which would died out and stalled 6 separate times this occurred while driving and ranged from 15 seconds to 2 mins of driving time and at speeds of 5 to 35 mph. ( the vehicle just quit running with no warning!) had vehicle towed to dealership.dealer service advisor (joe)advise me that at the repair bays they experienced/duplicated the problem 9 times, but had no idea what was causing the problem. Stated they had calls into general motors technical support and were waiting for some possile answers/solutions. I am reporting this of two reasons1. This is a major safety problem. The vehicle dies/stalls out at the wrong time and place an accident will happen.2. I am with out a vehicle which i purchased in good faith. (still setting in the shop).

Car died while driving.engine shut off, lights shut off.*la

My car dies out while driving.

Passlock security system would not allow my car to start. This has been an ongoing problem. I do not feel that i should have to pay gm for them to fix something that has documented problems.

I have the passlock security system on my 2003 pontiac grand am.i was parked at a store.i was sitting in the car with the key on in the ignition.my wife lifted the handle on the passenger's door.the door was locked, but my door was open.the car was running and after she lifted the door handle the ignition shut off.i tried restarting the car.the car was cranking but would not start.the security light was flashing on the dash board.i had to have the car towed.i wasn't able to restart the engine.the key was bought used in october 2006.the car only has 25,000 miles on the engine and is up to date on maintenance schedules.i have read on several internet sites that the passlock system has a history of cutting off the engine even with the car's key.

Turn signals work intermittently.this was noticed about 2 weeks ago.i have not had an accident because of this situation but could very well be in one if someone is not able to know i'm making a turn.

Similar to many of the other complaints here. About the blinker relay cycling when in the neutralposition.there were recalls for this on previous model years.no recall exists for this model year and mr. Pontiac wants $95 to do a diagnostic.likely it is a manufacturing defect judging from the number of other complaints here.the rate of relay cycling has some correlation to the temperature.

Turn signals about every two tries will stop working and sometimes you can get them to come back on by hitting the hazards.

The contact stated that the turn signal would work when the hazard lights were on, but not during normal driving. My 2003 pontiac grand am gt turn signal/hazard light switch stops working. I have to hit on the dash to get it started then it quits again. I looked up a recall on this and i found that models 2002 have a recall on this problem, but not the 2003 model.

Multifunction switch makes a clicking noise even when i am not using the turn signals. At first, if i wiggled or tapped on the switch, the clicking would stop, but now it just clicks incessantly. It is extremely annoying and costs almost $400 to replace.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated the turn signals failed. The contact would have to engage the hazard lights and then use the turn signal in order for it to work. The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic but the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the issue and they both informed the contact that there were no recalls for the vehicle. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired.the failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was not available.

My car has had a clicking noise ongoing for a few months now. It seems to be stemming from behind the hazard light button in the center of the car. Today the car started smoking behind the steering column on the inside of the car. Why isn't there a recall? i've read so many complains similar to mine. What could have happened if it caught on fire earlier today? please do something.

Turn signals would stop working at different times.started researching and found some vin#'s were recalled while others weren't.some complaints stated if you push the hazard button when they don't work that they will start working.i tried this and it did work.numerous complaints all over the web about same problem.contacted pontiac who didn't want to fix the problem.they had no concern that there were numerous other issues with the same cars.common sense would say if they are doing the same thing as the others that were recalled then it should be fixed by pontiac.this is something that can very well cause a crash.i will continue to do what i have to for pontiac to acknowledge the problem.

The lamps on my gt grand am aren't right do to the low beams being brighter than thehigh beems. And water is in the lamp. And my car will not start and i called and told you all of this. And i worked on it some and moved some wires and it stared to work once again. And now down again.it will not do a thing but light up the dash. So i replaced the keystarter and it still doesn't doanything.my daughters car is also a grand am and it locked up on her too and would not start .lord forbid if you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and the fact that we are women, hopefully nothing bad would happen. She replaced the ignition which was the problem with her vehicle but it is not the case with my vehicle.i was hearing click click in the dash a lot and can not tell what it is and not sure if it is a short. And it is not fair we bought the vehicle and it seems like a death trap. Thank you for all your help. Ps the car dose not like to stop right it has new brakes on it and been updated. But still dose not wait to stop. But i came really close to hitting some one.

Directional signals and hazard lights only work occasionally

2003 pontiac grand am - turn signals as well as hazard lights not working. Also hood not closing/locking properly, very dangerous. Purchased from lima auto mall in lima, ohio.

Turn signals work only randomly, sometimes there is a clicking noise that is continuous, light comes on in dash when you flip control but turn signals do not blink.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The stated that while driving at 55 mph, the indicator lights functioned intermittently. The contact stated that on one occasion the hazard light remained illuminated. The contact was able to remove a fuse to disable the hazard light. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the turn signal indicator switch needed to be replaced. The part was replaced however, the failure recurred three times. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

I just received a letter about a recall i paid for last year. How do i go about getting reimbursed for this? also i'm noticing my signal lights don't work unless i hit the 4 way lights for a couple of seconds, then the signal lights will work.

Turn signal will work intermittently.turn signal will work then not work.you never know when it will not work.

I have this annoying clicking sound which i thought was my turn signal.however, this noise continues even when my turn signal is off.i tried changing the hazard switch, but the noise continues.it happens several times a day while i'm driving and sometimes it "clicks" faster and longer then other times.i've also noticed small traces of smoke rise from my steering column while the "click" is happening.

The turn signals intermittently work. Gm is aware of the problem. There are 2 other recalls for the same issue, but for different years. 2000-2001 grand am, oldsmobile alero, chevrolet malibu (nhtsa campaign id number 03v327000) and 1999-2000 grand am, oldsmobile alero, chevrolet malibu. I have called pontiac, however they were unable to assist me with this issue. This is a very serious problem that could result in a crash.

The contact 's vehiclehad the samefailurethe failure that was mentioned inrecall #03v327000;exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch where the turn signals/hazard lamps worked intermittently.the failure began on 2-3-07. There is a clicking under my hazard lights.when i use the turn signal is goes to the regular rhythm.it occurs every time.

My 2003 pontiac has a clicking in the dash underneath the hazard switch. When i turn on the signal the clicking goes in rhythm with the signals but when i turn the signals off it continue to click, sometimes fast sometimes slow. At first it would only happen very rarely. I am afraid for my child and i it may be a shorter that may cause a fire. I feel there should be a recall on this problem with all the complaints of this matter. Please look into this matter and let me know what is going on. I have spoken with many many people who experience the same problem with their gm vehicle. Why is the 2003 excluded from this recall??? this problem started with me back in 2007 and i am still having this same problem. I need you to fix the problem before anything bad happen. Thanks

Dt: the callerhad to have the hazard warning light switch replaced. The caller said a blinking sound came from the dashboard but the lights were not on. Dealer replaced the switch at caller's expense. There was a recall 03v3270000on other years but not on this year. Manufacturer said this vehicle was not included in the recall.

Multifunction switch makes a clicking noise even when i am not using the turn signals. At first, if i wiggled or tapped on the switch, the clicking would stop, but now it just clicks incessantly. It is extremely annoying. Yesterday while driving down the freeway i noticed a small stream of smoke coming from my steering wheel.i immediately drove it to a pontiac deal and they advised it shouldn't catch fire that it would blow a fuse before it got too hot.they advise it would cost over 300 to fix.this is frustrating because it's been recalled on several earlier models.

I am having the same turn signal issue( hazard switch) in my 2003 grand am that gm issued a recall on for the 2000, 2001 models. Why is the 2003 excluded from this recall???

The ticker sound that is usually associated with the flashers or turn signal continues incessantly when neither function is activated. Sound comes from behind hazard button, but mechanics have advised replacing the multifunction switch in the steering column. They have warned that the situation will worsen and perhaps cause brake light problems if not corrected.

Multi-function switch - pontiac grand am gt 2003.i have spoken with many many people who experience the same problem with their gm vehicle.malfunction in switch causes a ticking noise as though the hazard lights were on although they are not.noise is almost constant.hazard switch replaced and did not fix problem.everyone i have talked to has said that replacing the multi-function switch corrects the problem.if so many are malfunctioning, why isn't there a recall to fix them?

Fast clicking sound(sounds like the blinker is going but it is not) very irritating and i have read online that a lot of people have this problem and pontiac will not recall it. And it costs over 400 dollars to fix.

A clicking noise that sounds like the hazard lights are on when they are not.was told at first it was the hazard switch, however, after being replaced this did not fix the problem.have now determined it is the multi-function switch and it costs over $300 to fix.have heard many other grand am owners complain about this problem.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. He noticed a clicking sound coming from the exterior hazard lights and determined that the multi turn signal hazard switch needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her that there were no recalls related to the failure. The vehicle was also outside of the factory warranty and all repairs would be at the owner's expense. The failure mileage was 113,623 and the current mileage was unknown.

Car makes a randomly clicks like the turn signal is on, but at uneven intervals. When the turn signal is used, the clicking becomes consistent. Turn signal lights do not appear to be activating when random clicking noise is made. Started very infrequently, but has now increased to a near continual levels.appears to be similar to recall:03v327000.

Please look into this matter and let me know what is going on.

My 2003 pontiac grand am has had this clicking noise, coming from under the dash for about a year now.it sounds like the sound the turn signal would make, but a little faster. And it comes and goes and lasts for different durations of time.i notice when the turn signal is on, then the noise goes away.also, when i slightly hold the hazard button in, without actually turning it on, the noise also stops, but then my turn signals won't work.i took it to the mechanic and he stated that it might be the hazard switch.however, with the new switch in place, the problem and annoying sound continued!

2003 pontiac grand am 4 cylinder. Started hearing a clicking noise, like the blinker is on. Now it makes the noise all the time while the car is running. This is very annoying and can make you think you left your blinker on. I replaced the hazard switch and it didn't stop it. Someone said it may be the multifunction switch. I took it to the dealer and was told that no recall was on that specific part.

I am seeking advice about a matter pertaining to the car i momentarily own. I believe that the car sold to me has been in accident and repaired. The brakes feel as if they are going to give out and have not been working correctly from the beginning. After informing and bringing the car to the dealership, they felt all that was needed was for them to be lubed. They say the car is fine but i am the one driving it and it has not been working properly. I went to a few dealerships to obtain other opinions and i was told the car was not running properly. I went back to the dealership i bought the car from and finally they realized the brakes were not in good shape. Parts were repaired. For a few weeks the car was running ok but the brakes were still not working properly. I felt a bucking everytime i put my foot on the brakes. The next time the rotors were fixed. I have invoices to back what has been repaired. I bought the car in november 2003 and in the beginning of 2004 the problems already started and have not stopped since. I did not drive the car until december 2003, since i was out of the country in november. The paint on the hood started in 2004 to come off. That needed to be repainted. The front headlights fog up, water condensation is building up. The car is running as if the bottom will fall off. It sounds like an old car. Every time i say that the car is not running correctly and ask them to test drive it, they only fix what i state what i think is wrong. I ask you to look into this matter and see if you can help me clear up this problem. Please let me know if any more information is required. I am stating the vin [xxx]. Thank you. [xxx]. Recently we experienced a very strong fuel smell in the passenger compartment after driving our car.when we opened the hood, it appeared that fuel was leaking from a part all over the hot engine.we got it to the dealership who diagnosed the problem as the fuel pressure regulator leaking.the fuel pressure regulator was replaced and there does not appear to be any fuel leaking at this point.our mechanic stated that the slightest spark in the engine could have started a fire.cost of repair:$196.19.

In october 2006 the car would not start.it was towed to my mechanic.he replaced the fuel pump. Also, hetold me that the security switch had been triggered so it stalledthe engine. If it happened again i was supposed to turn the car to the on position and wait 10 minutes then start it.the car worked until april 3, 2007.the same poroblem recurred.the mechanic replacedd the starter, but couldn't find anythingelse wrong.now i have to turn to the on position and wait for the fuel pump to engage then start it.this only worked about half the time.the other half i have to put it in neutral then start it.thiswas a safety concern because i never knew when i will be stgranded.

My2003 grand am suffered a failure of it's fuel pump on feb. Of 2005 during a trip to the bay area. I was fueling up at a willits ca. Gas station on a friday afternoon . I filled up my gas tank and then attempted to start the pontiac. It wouldn't start. I was told by the mechanicwho looked at my car and who made the subsequent repair that it was due to a manufacture defect. I had just filled upand my tank was at one quarter full prior to this and when i attempted to re-start the vehicle, i could not get the motor to turn-over and start. Fortunately for me the repair shop was right next door to the gas station and so the car was looked at and diagnosed almost immediately by the mechanic. I was subjected to having to wait for the repair since it occurred on a friday and the mechanic did not work on weekends and plus he had to wait for the part to be shipped from a ukiah chevrolet dealership. This put a strain on my travel plans however the mechanic was kind enough to loan me his wife's car for i had to make my trip because i was picking up my son at u.c. Davis and he was coming home to celebrate his birthday with us,his family. I was given the car back with the new fuel pump the following friday. I understand that there is a defect on this pontiac grand am also concerning the fuel gauge. It is not accurate. I seek remedy to the effect of total reimbursement of said repair bill of 850.00 dollars.

My name is [xxx], i have a 2003 grand am, i recently came back from a funeral in mississippi going back to st. Louis mo, 3/4 of the way my car stopped, after 3 hours of waiting it was determined that my fuel pump had went out, how can a car 2 years old have a fuel pump go out, i also have friends that also say there security system is causing there fuel pumps to shut-down, why does these things happen to a car that is no older than two years, please investigate and add to your recall list, i had to get my car towed 113 miles, and paid $560 to have fuel pump replaced, i do not feel this is right, i feel that a car should last over 5 years before it breaks downinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On01/19/2018 i purchased 03,grand am gt.the same day the car cut off in the middle of an intersection.it was towed to my home then back to where i purchased it i was advised that it needed coil pack , alternator,.these repairs where made by me out of pocket.on 03/09/18the car over heated and again had to be towed home then to a shop where i paid to have a water pump put on again out of pocket.after having these parts put onthe car would not start.i was informed that it may be the fuel pump.i then paid out of pocket to have a fuel pump put on.it still would not start.on 03/20/18 i contacted gm and was advised that there was infact a recallabout all of the issue's i am having with this car.i was given an apt for 03/22/18 tobe brought into the gm dealership.upon my arrival i was advised that these recalls had been preform ed on (11/1/02 (jcn 25863)and again on 12/3/14 (025777) .i was the advised that i would be charged 111.00 dollars just for diagnosis.when i contacted gm they failed to inform me of any of this information.i found it to be a waste of my time as well as the gm dealership.had they informed me of a fee i would not have taken it in on that day as i did not have the funds to pay for the what needed done. I was given a ticket number(8-4018839531) and advised that someone would be in contact.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. While driving various speeds, there was a strong fuel odor inside the vehicle. The odor intensified when the heat was activated. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Turn signals work intermittently.this was noticed about 2 weeks ago.i have not had an accident because of this situation but could very well be in one if someone is not able to know i'm making a turn.

While driving headlights and interior lightsflashed on and off. Driver took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, mechanic determined that an electrical short was the cause.

2003 pontiac grand am - turn signals as well as hazard lights not working. Also hood not closing/locking properly, very dangerous. Purchased from lima auto mall in lima, ohio.

On two separate occasions 2/14/2002 and 5/22/2003, my grand am locked its doors.the first occasion, the car was turned off, keys left in the car.when the driver's door closed, the doors locked.had to have aaa open the door.second occasion, my 4 1/2 month old baby was asleep in the back seat, the car was running, i put the car in park, unlocked the doors and got out for a minute, when the door closed, it and the passenger front door and driver's rear doors locked.the only one that remained unlocked was the passenger rear door.luckily, one stayed open and my baby was asleep and didn't know what was going on.very upset with gm at this point. *nlm

Dt*: the contact stated after the vehicle was purchased and having repairs performed, the independent repair shop determined that the hood latch was loose.the independent mechanic expressed that the vehicle should not have passed a safety inspection with the condition the hood latch was in.there were no repairs made.the vehicle was involved in an accident prior to purchasing the vehicle.the contact planned to contact the manufacturer after filing a complaint with the nhtsa.

Car died unexpectedly while driving but restarted after vehicle had stopped.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated while driving various speeds the clutch pedal was engaged and became stuck when approaching a complete stop. The failure recurred sporadically and on some occasions, the pedal would release manually or when the engine was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the clutch pedal and other related components were replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

Returning home from greensboro nc to washington dc vehicle had 7004 miles on a 2003 pontiac grand am. The vehicle had a strange sound so i pulled into a rest stop in petersburg va. The vehicle would not move, it seemed to me that the transmission was gone. I could not understand a new vehicle having this problem. I contacted pontiac road side service. The vehicle was towed to the nearest dealership which is roundtree pontiac in petersburg va. I was contacted by the service manager mr. Clyde bell he explained to me that flywhell detected two transmission converter bolts missing and one floating insice transmission casing. This one bolt jammed flywheel and flex plate, causing engine to seize . They removed transmission replaced damaged flex plate and transmission converter mount bolts. Pontiac had no concern about how i would get back to washington dc.at midnight when this happened they left me stranded. I contacted pontiac customer services, requesting they get my vehicle back to washington dc. Since the car was fairly new. I was told the warranty did not cover my request. I had to take a bus to petersburg va to get the car. I lost a days pay and i fell i was completely inconvienced. I am requesting you all check into this for me. I am now trying to get rid of the vehicle.

A few times, as i engaged the clutch, i felt a tugging; i thought i had caught the toe of my shoe on the floor mat.within a couple of weeks, i was driving and the clutch pedal grabbed to the floor and would not come up.when i had the car towed, they said that the cable between the clutch and pedal had disengaged; however, there were no broken parts.within a week of the company putting the cable back in place, the same thing happened again.at 3.5 years and 55,000 miles, i had to replace the master clutch cylinder because the cable was "getting hooked up" in the cylinder.

Dt:the contact stated the front passenger seat belt failed.the internal mechanism popped out and was inoperable.the vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they stated the buckle assembly needed to be replaced.the vehicle has not been repaired at this time due to repairs being too expensive.

My three year old son can pull the seat belt from his body while he is sitting in his booster seat.the seat belt will not lock and thus there is no way to keep him in the seat if he wants to get out.our van and other cars have locking seat belts which make it impossible for him to pull the belt away from his body.we have used other car seats with a harness but he is getting too big to use that type of seat any more.

The seat moved forward 1/4 of an inch when brakes were depressed.tracks were replaced problem still exist.

Failure of driver seat actuators on my 2003 pontiac grand am.the seat would actually move from front to back even when the car was parked, a serious safety hazard. Federal motor vehicle safety standard 571.207 states each seat shall remain in its adjusted position when tested in accordance with the test procedure in also included in this standard are seat adjusters, which the standard defines as the part of the seat that provides forward and rearward positioning of the seat.my seat did not meet this legal requirement. Pontiac has declined to reimburse the $379.15 repair cost.

Thank you. [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

When i go to brake there is a grinding noise and when i brake and turn to the left all three lights come n, not all the time. I have changed brakes, and rotors and am still having the problem.

At about 11,000 miles, my brakes began to hop badly whenever applied. I brought it to a dealer who said that it was just brake dust. The problem returned after 2 weeks. The car wobbles to a stop and the wheels lock if i apply to much pressure to the brakes

I have a 2003 pontiac grand am gt.at 13,000 miles, the front brake pads had to be replaced, the front rotors had to be turned and the rear rotors replaced.my daughter and her husband also own a 2003 pontiac grand am gt and have had the exact same problem.two different independent mechanics have said it is due to defective (poor quality) rotors being used by gm.when we brought this to the attention of pontiac they only said that all manufacturers are have this problem.repair costs for brake pads, new rotors and turning front rotors was $577.20.pontiac told my daughter and son-in-law that they would not warranty the brakes and rotors as they are consumables.my mechanic recommended replacing the parts with bendix brand parts instead of standard gm parts.he said this will probably resolve the problem.

My daughter has a 2003 pontiac grand am gt.she had been complaining about her brakes not feeling quite right before 15,000 miles at 17,000 we had to replace the front brake pads and resurface the rotors. Weeks after the repair she began complaining about the brakes again. Since they had just been repaired i told her she had to be mistaken. Six months later she was still complaining and we took the car to our own mechanic.he told us the rear brake pads were fine but the rotors were deteriorated beyond repair. The car was still under warranty at 25000 miles ,mostly highway miles,so we expected the car to be fixed under the warranty.the dealer refused to fix it under the warranty. He claimed my daughter was an inexperienced driver and must have been hard on the brakes . He wanted to fix the car for $1000. Replacing both front and rear rotors and brake pads. The rotors were apparently rotting underneath the pads.this should not happen, the rotors are defective and should be recalled before someone gets hurt.

Vehicle has 38,000 miles and is already having major brake issues.i think for a car that is only 2years old this shouldn't be happening.i believe that subpar parts and manufacturing procedures are to blame, and i believe that these vehicles should be repaired at your cost not the consumers.

Grinding noise from the front end at low speedrattle from the front end at slow turns.

(event leading)on or about 09-29-2003 i took my grand am into hanigan chevrolet in ontario, oregon to have a brake problem fixed, the unit had 15212 miles on it, as to the unit was vibrating violently when braking. (diagnosis was) they advised me the rotors on the unit front were warped, stated the rotors were to light to handle the heat and pressure, also stated warranty would not cover them.(even though they were not worn out but were damaged due to poor construction. I paid to have it repaired. Here on the 6-28-2004 i noticed the same problem again when returning from a vacation trip, mileage now is 28158. It is going in again for analysis to the same dealer. Same failure happens approx. Every 13000 to 15000 miles....recall is needed.

This is not a true "failure", per se, but a complaint about a manufacturing defect/flaw/practice.i own a 2003 pontiac grand am gt1, (purchased 8/02) which was recently serviced at 40,000 miles. At approximately 18,000 miles, during 4/04, i had to replace the front brake rotors for excessive wear and scoring. The dealership claimed that the wear was due to the use of road salt that winter. The front rotors hadn't been turned, or previously serviced.at the recent 40,000 mile checkup, i was informed that i would again need to replace the front rotors. As with the 20,000 mile checkup, the rotors had not been turned, or otherwise serviced, but were worn to the point of needing to be replaced. The large majority (90+%)of my driving is highway, which "should" be a bit easier on the brakes than city, or stop-and-go driving. At each instance i invoked the pontiac customer service center, who were only minimally helpful.my concern is that if the front brake rotors need to be replaced every 20,000 or so miles, and is not documented anywhere in pontiac literature, would this not constitute a documented premature failure for a safety system ? i have also noticed that this issue has been reported by other consumers, noting similar symptoms, so i'm less inclined to believe that i have experienced an isolated event. In each instance, there were no warning signs of brake wear (no noises, pedal fade, wear sensor squeal, loss of braking power, etc.) there also has been no "incidents", or accidents as a result.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.the contact stated that the rotors on the vehicle at the time of purchase were completely worn.the dealer replaced the rotors, but would not replace the brake pads or the bearing.the hub bearing on the driver side needed to be replaced.while driving 50 mph, the fuel pump failed and was replaced by the dealer.the fuel filter was the initial cause of the fuel pump failure, but it was not replaced.the current mileage was approximately 57,000 and failure mileage was 53,512.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated when starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal clicking noise coming from the steering column with smoke emitting. The engine was turned off. The vehicle was diagnosed by a certified mechanic who informed the contact that the failure was contributed to the steering column multi-function switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified and they advised that there was not a recall related to the defect. No assistance was provided.the failure mileage was 104,718.

Originally, i had notified that whenever i had my windshield wipers on for more then 10 minutes, they would freeze and stop moving in the middle of my windshield. This was easily fixed by turning the wiper off, then back on again; this would continue to occur every 10 minutes. Less then a week later, the clicking noise that occurs when the signal lights are blinking, began to click all the time, even when the signal lights were not in operation. Two weeks after the wiper incident happened, there was smoke coming from the steering column, and inherently obstructing my vision. These factors were very similar to the recall issued to the 1998-2002 grand am model years, and seems to be the same problems in my 2003. The procedure to fix the problem is to initially just clean the multi-function switch located in the steering column, and then replace the multi-function switch, if the problem persists.

I was driving my vehicle on a city street and as i turned right i heard a loud pop and my steering wheel froze making me unable to steer in any direction. I had my vehicle towed to a repair shop and after inspection i was informed that my steering rack had broken off of the subframe. Before this occurred i had never experienced any problems with steering so this was totally shocking along with the repair cost. After doing a little research i discovered that there were numerous complaints pertaining to this very same thing and gm has done nothing to ensure consumers safety. This should have been recalled years ago before someone dies as a result of poor craftsmanship on gms behalf. This isn't a repair consumers should have to take on.

I was driving and my rack and pinion broke loose from the sub frame causing me to lose all steering and i almost hit another car head on this is a week after i replaced it for the same reason i noticed the subframe welds are broke lose causing the problems this is very hazardous and needs fixed immediately ive since read online numerous reports of the same problem whats it going to take for gm to fix this problem because someone is going to end up losing there life if they haven't already i will make sure to post pictures and my statement online for all to see because this is ridiculous you spend money thanking you have a safe car for yourself and your family then find out that its not and all that matters to these car companies is the money there making and not the quality of there product i will never buy another vehicle from gm until this is resolved which i know it never will because like i said we as consumers don't matter just the money these companies make does.

While driving pressure builds in the power steering pump, and blows the caps off. The fluids in the vehicle go every where. This causes the vehicle to lose power steering. Vehicle has been at dealer nine times. Dealer does not know the cause of the problem.

Bought 2003 pontiac grand am gt new in march 2003.moonroof and driver window leaked water frequently, while power windows "clunked" when going down.took to dealer 3 times for these problems in 2005-2006 while covered under warranty;only moonroof was repaired, dealer claimed nothing was wrong with windows.windows continued to roll down slowly, making loud noises when going down, and hesitating when going up.in january 2009, driver side window stopped working entirely;in february 2009, passenger side window also stopped working.contacted dealer, explained situation, and expressed frustration over not being able to get these problems addressed while car was under warranty.dealer not willing to admit to failure to address issues with windows, and will only perform window repair at full price.repair estimated at $1030.

My 2003 pontiac grand am dash board is completely starting to lift from the foundation it has also started to fold back from the windshield on the driver side.we use the heat protector visor and despite it is still lifting.i have had other cars and have never experienced this problem.and i don't know if this would affect the air bags.

Dashboard lifting and curling up on drivers side obstructing drivers view. It has gotten worse over the past years, theres been many many complaints about this problem..

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated the dashboard deteriorated and the window defroster was inoperable. Also, the passenger side air bag compartment was detached. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Front dash is peeling up on both corners and venting on dash is totally cracked. All damages from extreme heat temps.

Thank you. [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

The inside door edge of my 2003 pontiac grand am is razor sharp metal.my wife cut her finger deeply on door edge while holding door.

I might be putting the cart before the horse here, but here goes. My drivers side door has been making noise. I have looked every time i heard it make noise and could find nothing. Today i looked again and was horrified at the damage. Seems the door and left front fender are now hitting every time the door is opened. There is more than paint involved here. There is metal contacting. There has been no collision or any type of impact so i'm at a loss as to what might have caused this. I will be taking this to the dealer in the next few days but i'm a cynic and have faith they will tell me i have done something to cause this. I will also be going to other body shops for thoughts, ideas and opinions. The reason i am writing is because i had a 2000 grand am before i purchased this vehicle. The door on that car made noise also. I looked and found nothing. Not long before i traded it in, a quarter sized patch of paint came off the door in the same area i now have damage on. It was there one day and gone the next. Once again, i can only say that there was no crash or anytype of impact that would have caused this. I had made a mental note to look at the "door meets fender" design when i looked at this car and noticed that the design had changed. There were more curves to the joining vs the straighter edges of the older model. I thought maybe it had been changed because of the problem i had experienced. Now, of course, i'm just mad as hell. I was unaware of this site before or would have reported the first incident with the first grand am.

My suspension pops and cracks like its going to break in half every time i turn the wheel or hit a bump or incline etc...it sounds like my new car is 20 years old, i have complained several times and they act like i'm crazy they have brought it in 4 times and nothing has changed the steering will freeze and jerk out of my hands. Also there has been several times it will not even start, the dealership tells me its a different problem every time, but yet it has never gotten better just worse, it is the worse car i have ever drove and it only has 5,000 miles on it. I have complained since the week after i bought it. *la

2003 pontiac grand am. Consumer writes in regards to receiving recall information *tgwthe consumer stated he is experiencing problems with the front end of the vehicle.

I have had a persistent popping/creaking noise coming from the suspension when encountering any sort of incline or decline (i.e., driveways, curbs, etc.) or intermittently when cornering.there is a technical service bulletin #02-03-03-008 that addresses this issue.the pontiac dealership in colma, ca has tried three times to replace the sway arm bushing/brackets yet the problem persists.i'm driving a car with 2,000 miles on it yet it sounds like the suspension is 15 years old.at first, the dealership acted like they had no idea what i was talking about.i found the tsb (issued in november 2002) on the internet in about 1 minute.furthermore, the dealership service department keeps calling gm technical support for help.this gives me no confidence in the abilities of the service technicians.i'm contemplating asking gm to buy this car back. *nlm

Grinding noise from the front end at low speedrattle from the front end at slow turns.

While driving driver can hear loud popping noise coming from the front of vehicle. Took vehicle to dealership, where mechanic informed the driver that the problem was the sway bar. The problem had not been resolved.

The ignition switch/rear hub assembly, andfan motor, havebeen either serviced and/or replaceddue tofluids leaking out. Check engine light was on, and the vehicle was still leaking fluid.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs.

While vehicle was in reverse it crashed into a cement wall.this caused the bumper to bend.it was later determined that the knuckle the bolts onto the shock absorder failed.

Cut hand/finger on door sheet metal.the metal from the outside of the door wraps around the back edge of the door and has a very sharp edge.when closing or opening the door and grabbing in this region of the door, it is very easy to get cut by the sheet metal.one incident of cutting finger.

My car haves a security sensor, that prevents the car not to start up,i have to put the ignition key to the acc and then the security light will blink for 15 to 20 minutes , after that the blinking will reset it self i then turn the ignition key to the off position and then turn the key to the on or run and the engine would start up.is there a way to fix this problem ! this is going on every other day. I will put the key in and the car will not start

**this is not a standard 2003 pontiac, single owner current mileage of 70,000**upon vehicle reaching operating temperature it exhibits the symptoms of recall #04092 124/ accelerator pedal arm.failure results in loss of rpm and speed control.this item was addressed on 1-11-2004 by approved dealer. Car last failure occurrencewas on 1/12/2020.this vehicle was also included in recall#14350 ignition switch. When failure occursloss of power, speed, air bags,ect..initial recall repair was on 3-07-2014. At that time a new key was cut to resolve issue. Failure has reoccured, last time being 12-23-19 while driving mid day no excessive temp or driving conditions.

While driving at approximately 10 miles per hour, 2003 grand am pontiac stops while on street nearly causing an accident. Security system light blinking. Suspected failed security system.

Car would not start at all when i came out of work tonight. I had no warning lights (in the past this car has been very good with showing what needed to be done). I called the security guard from my place of employment who tried to jump my battery for 40 minutes before realizing it was not the battery. My emergency light would flicker a few times and the key seemed to be stuck in the ignition. I had to jiggle it for about a minute before it would turn, but no sounds would come from the car. This was not only inconvenient, but also dangerous as the car was perfectly fine when i left it in the parking lot before work.

I have to do this everytime i start the car. Turn my key to the "on" position, and wait ten minutes then turn the key to start it, and it will start after the 2nd or 3rd attempt at this. My sister bought the car for me in july 2013, and it was starting fine before october, then after october, when i go somewhere, turn off the car, and have to turn the key on and let it sit for 10 minutes, and the car starts right off. Have a warranty on it. Bought the car at nissan of newport news, va. I moved to lychburg va and made an appointment with pinkerton chevrolet dealership service center for feb. 2, 2014. I am on a fixed income, and my sister is paying off the car.

Dashboard completely bulked up, every grand am owner that i know has the same problem

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am.the contact stated that the accelerator pedal arm sticks at the attachment to the bracket.the pedal arm does not return to the engine idle position when the accelerator pedal is released.over the past year, the failure progressively worsened.the dealer stated that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 04v528000 (vehicle speed control:accelerator pedal); therefore, he would have to replace the accelerator pedal arm, accelerator, and brake pedal assemblies at the contact's expense.the contact is in the process of having the vehicle repaired.the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 17,000.

Accelerator pedal sticking. When the weather would warm up the pedal would stick holding the throttle open. There was a recall on this but my vehicle was 900 cars out of the vin number break point for this recall. The recall needs to be expanded on this failure. The parts that the dealer replaced were the same parts that were on the recall vehicles. My vehicle is a 2003 pontiac grand am with a v6 engine in it.

I own a 2003 pontiac grand am that the throttle sticks. I have done extensive research and found there was a recall gm (4092) (nhtsa campaign number 04v528000) had issued addressing this but only in a specified serial number range. My car does not fall in that range but is affected in the same manner. The vin # is . The car is becoming a safety hazard to my family and is one of our primary vehicles. I have contacted gm and they are not willing to do anything because of the serial number range. I feel that the nhtsa needs to investigate this further and widen the serial number range. The date of incident is the most recent time it happened.

My car has an ignition switch recall. In said recall it describes that in the event of ignition switch failure my airbags may not deploy. I have young children in my car 99% of the time and this makes me extremely nervous. I called a number to get a rental car until mine can be fixed due to the fact no dealer has the parts and they don't know how long it will be. The man on the phone told me i didn't qualify because it wasn't that big a deal. I feel that it is a big deal and because i have children and i shouldentitled to a rental courtesy of gm. I am very displeased and hope that this situation can be rectified. I will go to the local news and express my concern if something is not done.

I bought the car a few months ago, but haven't been driving it very much as it was going to be for my daughter, who does not have a license yet. I was driving down the road and it kept accelerating. I did not even have my foot on the accelerator. It got up to 60 mph. I put on the brakes very hard and switched it into neutral when i got it slowed down, then into park. I pumped the gas and it went down to idle speed. Just a few minutes before that i noticed i had to press really hard on the brake to get it to stay stopped at a stop light. I know cars can idle a little fast sometimes and move some, but i was pressing on the brake really hard and was on an incline.

My daughter was driving my wife's 2003 pontiac grand am and the accelerator stuck, almost causing a serious accident in heavy traffic.when the accelerator is pressed, it now fails to return to the idle position, requiring one to physically pull the pedal back up.after the near accident, my daughter did some research and discovered that there had been a recall for sticking accelerator on the 2003 pontiac grand am, but we have never been contacted about the recall.i called pontiac on the toll free number listed on the recall notice on your site and they told me that they would do nothing to fix the problem.after asking to speak to a supervisor several times, i was finally connected to the supervisor who also said they would do nothing.i told her that there had been a recall and she said there wasn't a recall for the accelerator on a 2003 grand am.i gave her the recall number and she said she couldn't find anything on that recall, and that the car was too old so pontiac wasn't going to pay anything to have it fixed.she said i would need to pay for it myself and if they ever did issuea recall and i kept the receipts, they would issue a refund. The car is now totally unsafe to drive and there are many more people with the same model car whose lives may well be in danger because of this issue.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate by releasing the accelerator pedal; however, the pedal failed to retract. The contact stated that the brake pedal had to be depressed several times in order to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that this was the second occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (gettel chevrolet buick gmc, 1901 tamiami trail, punta gorda, fl 33950), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and case number: 8-446-6959426 was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 55,345.

Consumer had to slam on the brake and the emergency brake and put it into park.the consumer had it towed to the dealer on 7-27-05, whoran a diagnostic test on the vehicle.they could not find anything wrong with it.they did say that the oil filter was dirty and that it had to be changed.the consumer states that it was changed at the end of june.they changed three filters and the pcv.the consumer picked the vehicle up on 8-3-05.she only drove it home and parked it.she felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive. A recall on the accelerator pedal was issued back on nov. 2004.the manufacturer claimed that the vehicle was inspected at 32328 miles and it was determine at that time that the recall was not applicable.

2003 grand am gt purchased in may 2003.car will accelerate from idle speed of 4-6mph to 15 mph without depressing the accelerator causing the car to jump forward without warning.started to occur at 1500 miles, now 3600 miles on the car, has been at the dealership 3 times with no resolution.also will not accelerate when attempting to pass at speeds from 50mph, accelerator depressed to the floor without resulting change evidenced by increase in rpm or speed of the vehicle.also dangerous.as of today, the car is at the dealership, they have not been able to duplicate the problem and are seeking advice from pontiac.

Consumer said that the vehicle is accelerating very high on its own even when the brakes were applied, vehicle will still take off. This problem has occurred 3 times this week. Owner has taken the vehicle to the dealer, however the problem has not been corrected. Owner said that she doesn't want the car back.consumer is very paranoid of the vehicle's ability to perform properly.*lathe idle had been running higher even after two repair attempts.the vehicle was still in the shop as of 06/15/2004.gm had not sent the gas pedal to the dealership.(throttle plate sticking/throttle cable binding) *sc

I am the owner of a 2003 pontiac grand am which has a safety and non-compliance recall that involves the accelerator pedal assembly, (safety recall # 04092).when the initial recall was delivered i took my vehicle to a gm dealership in kendallville indiana.they inspected the device, and at that time stated there was no problem and no parts were replaced.i am currently living in virginia and have found in hot, ambient conditions, (in the afternoon and almost daily), my accelerator pedal sticking, failing to return to the normal idle position. I took my vehicle to a gm dealership in harrisonburg va to have it checked and they advised a new pedal assembly would be needed although they are unwilling to correct this safety issue under the recall # 04092 since the initial inspection was performed in indiana.when i took my vehicle to the dealership in indiana the recall was performed on october 19, 2005 which is not during the hot and ambient weather that is associated with this safety concern.i have contacted gm and they state since my vehicle has over 100,000 miles and is a 2003 they are not willing to replace this required procedure under the manufactures recall.i seek your assistance in a successful outcome for the safety of not only myself and my family, but for other's on the highway.

I have a pontiac grand am 2003 model.there was a recall on my car for the accelerator pedal and i had my car fixed. I had the recall fixed and about a week later i had a car accident in which my car would not stop due to the the accelerator contiuing to accelerate and my brake not allowing me to stop.my air bags deployed, my wind shield shattered, my front left tire blew, everything under neath my car was damaged.thankfully no one was hurt but i have had a claim with gm and i was told yesterday that they are denying my claim.when i was asked to see the report they refused saying it was property of gm and i did not have the right to see it.to me i feel that i do considering that it is there fault this happened because there was a recall on this and i feel i should have some proof on there reasoning for saying that they are not going to cover the damages and to make sure it is not going to happen again.for all of the people with 2003 grand am be careful and make sure this does not happen to you because it may be worse the next time for someone else.

On hot days after my vehicle sits in the sun, the gas pedal sticks.on one day my car was in park running at 7000 rpm's.i called two different dealerships that told me this was not possible and my car was not covered in the recall for this exact problem.the third dealership finally acknowledged i was not safe in this vehicle and the service manager stayed late to wait for me (with a mechanic) to look at my car.once they looked at my car it was determined that this was the problem.

Accelerator pedal sticks in hot weather.manual intervention required to pull accelerator pedal back up.recall available on same model of vehicle released in nov 11 2004, but this vin is not on that recall.have had accelerator pedal looked at once already no problems with accelerator pedal reported by dealer.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal stuck and was difficult to depress.a nhtsa recall, #04v528000 was performed on the vehicle concerning, the accelerator pedal however, the recall did not remedy the problem.the dealership did not offer a second repair under the recall.the manufacturer was contacted.

I own a 2003 pontiac grand am gt1 vin number[xxx]and the accelerator pedal sticks in hot weather and i found a recall for this problem, however i never received a notice because i am the second owner of this car. I contacted a dealer and was told the vin does not fall into the category of cars affected, so i called gm twice. The first person told me it did and the second told me it didn't. It has the same symptoms regardless of vin and is dangerous in traffic becauseit will not throttle down. The car had about 25,000 miles on it when i noticed this problem because my wife drove it for the most part, but said she had also noticed it prior. The car is unsafe in hot weather for our driving conditions here in maryland, and i want gm to cover the repair because the car is well taken care of and it's a factory defect just like on the other grand am's.

Blower motor does not work.first low went, then #2 speed, then #3 speed, now only #4 working.

I rented a 2003 pontiac grand am on feb. 04, 2003.it was very cold, at night, and snowing heavily.i turned on the rear defogger. It failed to clear the rear window, and i turned it on again after noticing that it had turned off.about 30 seconds later the rear window exploded; there was no projectile found.my wife, who was with me when it happened, and i believe it has to be a factory defect, and we should not be held responsible, yet we are being charged by budget, who was charged by the dealer, for the repair.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the rear windshield broke into pieces. The contact called the dealer who made an appointment and stated that the failure could have been caused by an electrical issue. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

Driver side front window wont roll up or down and the regulator is fine and so is the motor.

Are you kidding me! my windows on my 2003 pontiac grand am gt have quit working. Has happened to 3 of my windows, driver side front and both back windows, yesterday when it was pouring down rain basically sideways my window which i have had to rig to stay up with tape still came down which allowed powerful wind and rain to start pouring into my car as i tried to pull over to push it back up another one fell, lol. My car was soaking i was soaking and i almost got into a wreck because of it, not a safety issue my [xxx]! a different time my girlfriend had to undo her seat belt and crawl from the front seat into the back to hold a window up during a rain storm, what the [xxx] gives gm? i would love to get this fixed but not only can i not afford it but i have seen the plastic piece in my window and it has pieces broken off in 7 different places. This is insane! gm is raping the american people, no wonder people by foreign cars, i have always been a pontiac man but i may be looking into a honda or something soon!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dt*: the contact stated the driver side window did not go down.the dealership determined the motor and switch needed to be replaced.

Window broke off and know at least 5 other people with the same problem.

Sun-roof has leaked since i bought this car only on the drivers side the tube which drains appears to be too small for drainage. I am continuously having to get the tube blown with air pressure hose.the car was returned to the dealer twice which they claim was fixed not so.

While driving consumer feels distracted by the reflection of the dashboard on the windshield. Dealer feels that the contour of the windshield is the cause, but will not fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2003 pontiac grand am. The contact stated that the dashboard was separating from the frame and fractured. As a result, the windshield cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The reflection of the dashboard in the windshield is very distracting...and at times makes it hard to actually see the road in front of me.it seems as if this may be due to the way the window is shaped.

While driving during winter weather, the driver side windshield wiper failed intermittently.please provide more information.

When i go to brake there is a grinding noise and when i brake and turn to the left all three lights come n, not all the time. I have changed brakes, and rotors and am still having the problem.
