Hello. I was in a crash,sandwiched between 02 pickup trucks. My airbags never deployed. My car was crushed! the force broke my front seats slam me into the dash. The truck in front of me was stop also as i was a green truck slam into me at 45 miles an hour crushing me against a white pickup waiting to turn left into a gas station.

While driving 45-50mph, consumer rear-ended another vehicle and the airbags did not deploy.

My car, which is a 94 grand am, is a good running car but i been working on it hard time for 5 weeks trying to get it to run. It has some problem where the fuel pump fuse keeps on blowing on it. I replace spark plug coil, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, under the hood wiring harness, control module, ignition switch, vacuum lines, and the little box that sounds off your alarm when you leave the lights on and/or keys in the ignition when you open your door. I don't know what else to do i am tired of busting my butt on it. It takes a lot for me to say that.

Horn is difficult to engage.

Car had tough time to accelerate, after three visits to repair shop, problem was diagnosed as the terminals from the main computer to the 02 sensor were bad.had to replace computer and sensor.head gasket was leaking, taken in to be repaired and found out that the engine head itself was crack where #2 cylinder is located.repair shop stated is a common problem with quad four grand ams.had to pay approx. $2,500 in repairs

My key can be removed fromignition while the car is running and being driven. I can continue driving. This first occurred when i hit my key by accident while on the freeway and it went flying onto the passenger side floor.i was shocked to find i still had the ability to drive.the key is not worn. It happens with a new key also.the issue is in direct violation of fmvss 114, which states: each vehicle shall have a key-locking system which, whenever the key is removed, prevents: (a) the normal activation of the vehicle's engine or motor; and (b) either steering or forward self-mobility of the vehicle or both.my vehicle is an automatic transmission. Also, experienced problems with switch that controlledexterior lights of vehicle malfunctioning.exterior lights would stop operating when switching between dim and bright.at times, there was smell of burning wires.ping of tilt on steering column backed out twice.the replacement new switch failed.the dash lights were out.the window brackets were weak.the front disc brake pads failed frequently.

My car was under manufacturer'srecall 00079. Recall was if the ignition key turned for long can cause fire,and work was done by the pontiac dealer in clinton twp., michigan. Jim causley 38111 gratiot avenue,clinton twp. Mi 48036-3592. Dealer added one module by middle top section of the radiator, andwiring was grounded next to it. Rest of the wires were connected to the main harness by the starter area. Pictures are available upon request.i went to pickuppizza on 7/16/01 aprox. 8 p.m and car was parked in the plaza in parking lot and was not running at that time , matter of fact i had the keys with me, while my nephew was in the car, minutes later he came in and mention me about the smoke coming out of the hood and i mentioned him how this is possible car is not even running.i have the key? i went out to see the car the fire was all over. Just think if car parked in my garage and it is attached garage my house will be on fire and possibly some of lifes. Pe99063,vehicle was parked in a mall area ,it had been sitting for about 45 minutes. , consumer noticed vehiclewould not start, and then smelled electrical burning.consumer opened the hood, heard cracklin gnoise coming from a small box between the engine block and radiator ,at the same time consumer noticed that there was smoke coming from left side of steering column ,right next to turn signals.vehicle was totaled.insurance company did inspect vehicle, and it was listed as undetermined cause. But, suggested electrical system.

Vehicle would not start after several attempts, shortly thereafter a alrge ampount of black smoke apeared from th edrivers side followed by flameswhich engulfed the whole dash area.

Steering column has smoke coming from underneath dashboard. Dealership is aware of problem.

I have multiple complaints on this vehicle.was bought as a used vehicle, past owner claims his daughter drove it to and from college.it is an abs car with the 2.3 4 cylinder, auto trans, fwd se.the abs system is messed up and when you try to stop the tires lock-up on you, the car will slide especially if the roads are wet and this is at a speed of not more than 15 mph.luckily we have avoided several accidents, but there is going to come a time we aren't that lucky.also the headlights and dash lights work when they feel like it.the car won't stay cool no matter what i do to it, the thermostat and heater core were already removed from the car when we bought it.the electric fan does not work and i have replaced countless relays attempting to get this car to be dependable again.the tilt steering column needs work, because it moves when it shouldn't.we can't afford another vehicle because we are wasting money attempting to keep this one on the road.yes it was a used car and we got what we paid for in reality.but the design of the car just plain out was a failure.seriously the designers need to test their ideas more before putting them out on the market.we looked at a brand new kia yesterday and walked away from it, because it was never tested for safety.the manager of the dealership claimed they just didn't bother putting the safety ratings on the window sticker.i in fact researched the car and found it had never been tested for safety.yes it is a brand new 2014 kia cadenza, don't buy one they aren't worth the almost $40,000 price tag.to top it off almost 90% of the car is built and manufactured in korea.sorry just my opinion, if i'm going to spend that much money i will buy built american.

My car, which is a 94 grand am, is a good running car but i been working on it hard time for 5 weeks trying to get it to run. It has some problem where the fuel pump fuse keeps on blowing on it. I replace spark plug coil, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, under the hood wiring harness, control module, ignition switch, vacuum lines, and the little box that sounds off your alarm when you leave the lights on and/or keys in the ignition when you open your door. I don't know what else to do i am tired of busting my butt on it. It takes a lot for me to say that.

Pontiac has had the same problem with 1992 and19 93 quad 4 engines.we contacted pontiac customer assistance and the dealer several times only to get the same response that they are not obligated to assis us due to the age and mileage of the vehicle.we purchased a 6-year extended warranty for this vehicle and it just expired in may 2000.this does not matter to the dealer or to pontiac.the dealer did not even offer to look at the vehicle after i told them about the cracked head.i feel that pontiac knows of this problem and just wants to avoid it.i see many other people have the same problem with cracked heads on 94 grand ams by reviewing the cases on your site.any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Intermittent stalling.

I started my car and it didn't start.it then smelled like it was on fire.it then started after that, but ever since it did not work well.a few days later i received the recall notice about fires in the steering column.about 3 weeks after the fire, my car would start then die a few minutes later.i had to keep jumping it to get it to the dealer to be fixed.they replaced the alternator and serpentine belt.i had the alternator replaced just a year ago because of a similar problem but was unaware of the recall then.i called gm and they told me "tough luck" it was my responsibility to pay.i don't think it is a coincidence that after the fire everything went wrong.i don't think i should be responsible to pay, and i feel gm should reimburse me.also, since we can't get this recall fixed until march, i am worried this may happen again. Someone told me that the fire could have affected these other areas, and since it is a manufacturer's defect, i don't think i or other people should be responsible to pay.

I have multiple complaints on this vehicle.was bought as a used vehicle, past owner claims his daughter drove it to and from college.it is an abs car with the 2.3 4 cylinder, auto trans, fwd se.the abs system is messed up and when you try to stop the tires lock-up on you, the car will slide especially if the roads are wet and this is at a speed of not more than 15 mph.luckily we have avoided several accidents, but there is going to come a time we aren't that lucky.also the headlights and dash lights work when they feel like it.the car won't stay cool no matter what i do to it, the thermostat and heater core were already removed from the car when we bought it.the electric fan does not work and i have replaced countless relays attempting to get this car to be dependable again.the tilt steering column needs work, because it moves when it shouldn't.we can't afford another vehicle because we are wasting money attempting to keep this one on the road.yes it was a used car and we got what we paid for in reality.but the design of the car just plain out was a failure.seriously the designers need to test their ideas more before putting them out on the market.we looked at a brand new kia yesterday and walked away from it, because it was never tested for safety.the manager of the dealership claimed they just didn't bother putting the safety ratings on the window sticker.i in fact researched the car and found it had never been tested for safety.yes it is a brand new 2014 kia cadenza, don't buy one they aren't worth the almost $40,000 price tag.to top it off almost 90% of the car is built and manufactured in korea.sorry just my opinion, if i'm going to spend that much money i will buy built american.

The headlight trouble almost caused vehicle to leave road at high speed. I found that when they cut out, i need to put high beams on & then switch back to low beams.seatbacks for both front seats will fly foward during heavy braking. A mechanic advised me that the seat backs were supposed to move foward like this, i would like this fixed. As for the driver window, many other grand am owners tell me that they have same problem - this one has cost me over $100 in drying out my vehicle interior and repairs.

There have been numerous claims for steering column failure, brake failure, and transmission failure.why hasn't pontiac fixed these problems?these are safety problems.are there any warranties availble? also how can i find out if all safety recalls have been complete on my car.my local dealer did not call me back on this.i need to know if the gas tank repairs have been done on this car.

After putting vehicle into park, the vehicle slipped outof gear into drive, causing a collision.

Engine was on and vehicle was in park.door was open.vehicle sat for 5 minutes and then slipped into reverse.had to jump into moving vehicle through window to press brake and stop vehicle.no injuries.however, other person in car tried to engage park forward and vehicle did not stop.

The first time i noticed a problem was 2 years before complete transmission failure occured.while driving the transmission jumped into neutral and the car wouldn't accelerate.that didn't happen again for another year, and since it wasn't a recurring problem, i didn't pay much attention to it.but about 2 weeks ago the car really started to have problems.when i started it, there was a cold delay.that is, the car wouldn't move in any direction--forward or reverse.i took the car to a reputable automatic transmission repair shop and they found excessive amounts of metal in the sump pan.the transmission had to have a complete overhaul costing $1,594.14--a substantial amount of money.this really doesn't have to do with the transmission, but i would like to add, for your information, that i have had , in my opinion, an extrordinary amount of work done on the brakes and suspension of this car.every year, the brakes need replacing and i've had the front struts replaced twice in three years.

Driving car at 55mph and car appeared to shift to neutral, coasted to stop. Spraque assembly failed per mechanic, complete overhaul of transmission.car would appear to hesitate and surge at around 55 mph,diagnostics reported engin e head gasket leak or bad head, found to have external cracks to head and crack by plug.mechanic described as latent defect in head.car had never overheated.

This pin and socket connection of the under-dash clutch pedal assembly has failed numerous times.only about 1 year out of 8 has the assembly remained intact.i have had to crawl under the dash many times to reattach it, and it develops wear that allows friction to keep it in place.the bushing and "c" clamp design is poor because the bushing wears away and the clamp is forced off.i have "fixed" the problem while in-lane on busy streets with my legs exposed to traffic.the original assembly was replaced last year at kincaid autos in leavenworth, ks, and now the replacement has failed. When buckled up, the seatbelt is supposed to be tight. In my car, when i sit at the driver seat with seat belt on, it is very loose. In particular, the seat belt can freely move through the lower-left buckle. I can easily move my body as if there is no seat belt on.

A component of pontiac's passenger-side, easy-entry manual seat is broken.what has happened is that the inertial seat back, which normally moves forward only a certain amount during braking, now moves so far forward that it releases the easy-entry mechanism, allowing the whole seat to slide forward up to the ip.the seat was unoccupied at the time this first occured.as braking was in progress, vehicle speed is estimated.

During collision seat backs collapsed.

The headlight trouble almost caused vehicle to leave road at high speed. I found that when they cut out, i need to put high beams on & then switch back to low beams.seatbacks for both front seats will fly foward during heavy braking. A mechanic advised me that the seat backs were supposed to move foward like this, i would like this fixed. As for the driver window, many other grand am owners tell me that they have same problem - this one has cost me over $100 in drying out my vehicle interior and repairs.

I have multiple complaints on this vehicle.was bought as a used vehicle, past owner claims his daughter drove it to and from college.it is an abs car with the 2.3 4 cylinder, auto trans, fwd se.the abs system is messed up and when you try to stop the tires lock-up on you, the car will slide especially if the roads are wet and this is at a speed of not more than 15 mph.luckily we have avoided several accidents, but there is going to come a time we aren't that lucky.also the headlights and dash lights work when they feel like it.the car won't stay cool no matter what i do to it, the thermostat and heater core were already removed from the car when we bought it.the electric fan does not work and i have replaced countless relays attempting to get this car to be dependable again.the tilt steering column needs work, because it moves when it shouldn't.we can't afford another vehicle because we are wasting money attempting to keep this one on the road.yes it was a used car and we got what we paid for in reality.but the design of the car just plain out was a failure.seriously the designers need to test their ideas more before putting them out on the market.we looked at a brand new kia yesterday and walked away from it, because it was never tested for safety.the manager of the dealership claimed they just didn't bother putting the safety ratings on the window sticker.i in fact researched the car and found it had never been tested for safety.yes it is a brand new 2014 kia cadenza, don't buy one they aren't worth the almost $40,000 price tag.to top it off almost 90% of the car is built and manufactured in korea.sorry just my opinion, if i'm going to spend that much money i will buy built american.

Brakes have failed since day one, i have taken to dealer several times and they replaced the master cylinder. They said it had an internal leake. Did not solve problem. When stopping the pedel goes to the floor and a squeeking noise can be heard. The car does not stop. I replaced the front disc brakes a few weeks ago. They were broken apart in layers. Thought that may have been the problem but it was not. Had vehicle analized on a computor to see if any codes came up but there were none. I noticed a lot of similar complaints in your files. Also noticed a recall by gm on blazers and jimmy's and s-10s for similar problem. I have been unable to resolve problem or get any help from dealer. Would appreciate any help.

There is a wiring short and the interior lights will go off and sometimes the headlights. Usually happens when using turn signal. Also when turning on flashers the abs light comes on. The right interior turn signal light stays on when lights are on. Also the steering column vinyl covering over the airbag has split down the pontiac symbol exposing the airbag.

Consumerhas tilt steering column, and a pin came out of the steering column. This happened while consumer was driving at55mph and was changing lanes.it was difficult tosteer car .

Pivot pin in steering column slips into a hinge mechanism for tilt wheel to move up or down. When these pins slip out, because they are only pressed in, the steering wheel becomes loose. Both pins hav ecome out one time or another, both have not come out at same time. The poart that came out was pivot pin in steering column p/n 26045314.

Steering wheel is very loose andfits poorly onsteering column. Dealership has examined vehicle for this problem, and has not been able to remedyproblem. While driving, pins inside steering wheel broke.

Vehicle would'nt start.after getting out of the car, the consumer's co-worker noticed a horn blowing, went to investigate and the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was calledto put out the fire. The steering column was on fire, and the vehicle was damaged from inside to outside.consumer contacted the dealer and manufacturer.

There are two pins holding the adjustable steering wheel to the column and these pins have come out 4 times while driving.almost cause an accident several times.there is a defect in the design in that the pins are heavy metal that go into aluminum and the aluminum expands with repeated movement from adjusting the steering wheel up and down.consequently, the pins no longer stay in.this is likely to cause a major accident for those that are not expecting the steering wheel to come loose.i have had both pins come out within minutes of each other.

My original complaint was listed under voq numberodi533581. I have been waiting for an officail to contact me regarding this problem. I am not about to keep taking it to the dealer to have pins pressed back into placed when this should not have been manufactured this way. No safety defect mentioned in summary.

While driving 45mph steering column came apart. Took to dealer & mechanic said pivot pin fell out; had to disassemble steering column & replaced & reinstalled pivot pin.

Lighter when used blows a fuse which affects the door locks, and other componentss. I have to keep replacement fuses at all times. Sometimes the lighter shorts without being used and this occurs. The driver side power window keeps coming off track and has been repaired by pintiac twice and is now in the same condition. I have heard these two problems reported by several grand am owners.

I was driving down the highway and my back frame that hooks to the tire broke in half and the tire went flying in the air. It looks as if there is a default in the frame where the hub is connected.

Brake failed.nlm.consumer states prior to recall, a new starter was needed as well as a new engineand also a new lighting switch, consumer has also had to get new tires.

I bought the car from a dealer in february 2000 with 8000 miles on it.since that time i have had the drivers side door window engine replaced 3 times.each time they tell me the motor or track system has broken and since they are one unit it needs to be replaced.in february of this year the hood of the car has started to peel severely, it is now up both side of the hood from the nose to the top by the window.maaco says they will need to sand the hood down and repaint the entire car and that is about $900.what can i do????

Heater stopped working at 65,000 miles, 1 year ago.part was replaced.last month it happened again, and antifreeze has leaked into the right front of the inside of the car!

I replaced the heater core in my car and an upper radiator hose and now i have problems with the antifreeze leakin out from between the engine block and the intake manifold which indicates that i need a new intake manifold gasket as weel as valve cover gaskets due to the fact that it is leakin out there as well. I spent $250 on repalcing the heater core and $45 on the upper radiator hose to be repaired from the dealer that i bought the car from. I was told by a friend that her grand am was recalled due to a head gasket problem. Please inform me of a possible soloution.

Window regulator jammed causing window not to function.freed roller on regulator.widow will move up and down but with problems.have been trying to get used window regulator from junk yard but this seems to be a problem with this vehicle as a good used part is not available and the cost of a new part excedes the value of having a working window.mfg should be held responsibe as this is obviously a defect in design.

Non-power windows.was tough to roll down, then one day wouldn't roll up.repair shop looked at it, stated that the window regulator was broken bent which was making window try to roll off-track.

The headlight trouble almost caused vehicle to leave road at high speed. I found that when they cut out, i need to put high beams on & then switch back to low beams.seatbacks for both front seats will fly foward during heavy braking. A mechanic advised me that the seat backs were supposed to move foward like this, i would like this fixed. As for the driver window, many other grand am owners tell me that they have same problem - this one has cost me over $100 in drying out my vehicle interior and repairs.

Purchased vehicle, heating did not work - air would blow out cold.dealer blew out heat core and replaced thermostat.minimal amount of heat.engine started to stutter and stall.fuel injector in 5th cylinder bad.mechanic flushed injected and gave tune up.ran ok for a week and then constant stutter and shake at 50 mph.mechanic replaced 1 injector.stutter gone.no overheating, but antifreeze leak x 1.replaced water pump.1 week later constant overheating and puddle of antifreeze around engine block.then the engine stalled and i checked the oil to find the dipstick showed twice the amount of oil after sitting for 8 hours.just had oil changed 1 week after repairs, i had the oil changed, that is when the oil appeared overfull and the car stauled.

Driver and passenger door windows come off tracks, windows will not roll up or down. Have been repaired several times, even a new motor on driver window. The control arms are too fragile and keep bending costing hundreds of dollars for a (temporary)fix. I think this should be corrected by the manufacturer, free of charge as i see this quite regular on other grand am's all over town.

Windshield wipers worked intermittetly, then stopped all together.

Windshield wiper's are working intermittently, and alsso work occasionally when consumer uses the turn signal.

The drivers side windshield wiper moved very slow.the only time the wiper worked properly was when the motor was placed on fast.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who installed a new arm but the problem still existed.*nlm

While driving downhighway it started to rain, consumer turned onwindshield wipers, and after a little while , passenger's windshield wiper started to run intoother wiper. Consumer had to tie it down. Few days later,driver's side windshield wipers started to act the same, and thenpassenger's windshield wiper was working okay. Has not contacted the dealer yet.
