I was coming off of an exit on the freeway and all of a sudden my steering wheel seized up, i could not turn. My car smashed into a cement barrier completely demobilized the car and the a frame completely bent. The air bags did not go off.
Car turns off when idling and power steering and brakes don't work when idles.
Repeatedly this car is worked on due to something electrical. The headlight wiring has shorted or burned before and after the recall (multiple occurrences). Now airbag sensors shorted out and wiring was burned. That was just replaced however mechanics can't figure out clicking noise in steering column that causes cruise control and air conditioning to turn off. This happens from time to time while driving on the highway. 2014 intermediate shaft recall does not cover my car. This car is a money pit and the recalls do not ever fix the issues. I have video of the clicking yet nobody can explain it or fix it. The clicking is new (last few weeks) yet electrical issues shorting out has been reoccurring for years.
Service air bag light came on when idling, parked, in driveway.taken to local gm dealer in cleveland, tn.dealer did not specify repair.roughly 20,000miles later the service air bag light is back on.what can we do to make gm fix this very common problem?
Esc off and service esc came on as soon as vehicle steering locked up then wouldn't turn at all when you try to turn it it jerked back to the other side. Burnt nasty smell from inside and outside car. Now car won't even start or nothing
Wires burned off light sockets. Both driver and passenger sides. Door lock solenoid went bad.daughter was unable to get in or out of drivers door.getting abs warning light.getting passenger air bag warning.
Air bag light says service air bag headlight gets so hot it melts working wiper clip breaks off motor failing to activate wiper bladessteering wheel wobbles and power steering fails in city and on highway
On 9/14/2010 my wife was involved in an auto accident in our 2010 pontiac g6 gt in which she turned from a private drive into the path of another vehicle. The other vehicle was traveling approximately 35-40 mph, impacting our car in the drivers side front fender, wheel assembly, and drivers door. Both airbags were deployed in the other car however none of the airbags in our g6 deployed. There were no life-threatening injuries to the occupants of either vehicle which brings me to my complaint, the entire drivers front fender on our g6 was smashed, the wheel assembly was folded under the car, and the ems/ fire and rescue personell used the jaws-of-life equipment to cut the drivers door off of our g6 to remove my wife. Now what is the purpose of side impact airbag systems if they do not deploy? at what point should they deploy? my wife's head busted the drivers window out as well. I have read that airbags are to deploy any time they are to prevent injury. Almost a month later my wife is still suffering from head/neck/back pain and 14 days after the accident a cat scan still showed a severe concussion.
Passenger seat no longer senses when there is a passenger seated so the passenger airbag off light is always illuminated. Passenger airbag won't deploy if needed.
On april 16th 2016 i was in a car accident. Me and a friend were driving back to his house the road at night, when a deer crossed the road, i attempted to maneuver to dodge the deer and ended up going off the road and losing control of my vehicle. My car hit a fence line, as well a multiple small trees. The car was totaled yet my airbags did not deploy. I've already contacted my insurance company, and as everything starts to settle with them i'd like to know if there is anything i can do because of the fact that my airbags didn't deploy. We were both bruised up pretty badly, and had to go the the emergency room, and my friends wrist was broken in the crash.
While on the highway multiple indicators suddenly alerted me to issues with the power steering, esc system, airbags and traction control systems. The gauges all maxed out and then failed entirely. This was at approximately 70k miles i had the vehicle towed and the repair shop indicated there were no codes that registered during their diagnostic. I was advised there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. I drove the vehicle home and for approximately a month later the issue occurred again, this time my speedometer and all dash functions ceased to work, the same alerts came on and this time the vehicle would lurch into gear and sounded as if it was going to stall out. While i am still able to drive it, i am not able to tell how fast i am going nor do i feel that it is safe to operate the vehicle. I have checked the recall lists and it appears the 2010 pontiac g6 is not amongst the vehicles being recalled. This is absurd and a danger to every single person on the road while these cars are being driven. Gm needs to own up to it's mistakes and correct them in order to retain customers and save lives.
While ideling my car sometimes dies out but then cranks back up.i never know when this is going to happen. All of my traction lights are on and airbag light is on. My drivers side headlight goes on and off all the time.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph and depressing the brakes, the brakes did not engage and the contact crashed into another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was destroyed. There were no injuries reported. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 63,000.
My husband was driving down the interstate when all of a sudden the passenger side airbags deployed. There was nothing that could have caused this to happen except faulty airbags.
Service air bag comes on and goes off , and on star says they may not deploy. Other people have had accidents and they dont deploy.i feel like the auto company should recall and fixthis.
The service air bag light and warning script come on and off at different times.dealer will only look at if we pay for it.they say air bag will not work when this light is on.it is caused by a loose or broken wire under the drivers seat.i have fixed it myself several times without a permanent out come.we feel dealer should fix this safety defect without charge.
My car rolled over 3 times on the crash the airbags didn't deploy.
My 2010 pontiac g6 has had recalls for electrical problems.even after taking it to have those recalls corrected, we are still having electrical issues with out 2010 pontiac g6.headlights are not wanting to stay on, you hit it and it comes on, have been pulled over for headlight out due to this problem.also having electrical problem issues when starting the vehicle.it does not want to start to bad connection in the fuse box in the trunk not kicking on the gas pump.car actually shut off due to this issue on the route 68 a major highway that runs through cumberland, md.very scary situation, just thanking god that there were no vehicles behind me at the time this occurred when there very well could have been, including tractor and trailers that drive that road. This situation needs addressed and corrected. It was recalled for this and taken to have the recall corrected and now having the same issues with the vehicle that we had before.we are not able to trade this vehicle in for another vehicle at this time, money is the issue.so problem needs fixed before someone is seriously or fatality hurt.
The steering is making a noise like gears slipping over riding one another, and catches in turns, the power steering light is on,the speedometer is not working and you have to run it to a high rpm to shift out from one gear to another, and it shifts hard when it does.
Service esc keeps coming on and nobody can seem to find out why.also driver side headlight keeps blowing.believe there was a recall but dealership says no.
I bought this car from a dealership called drive now in lebanon tennessee. About 2 miles after signing and trading my vehicle for this one the esc, tc off, check engine, low tire pressure sensor lights all came on on the dash. I took it to them 4 different times now and they stated to me it's an electrical problem and they claimed to have fixed it!! a month later it all began again. It starts with the driver side headlight going out then the passenger side headlight goes out and then all the lights come back on again. This time however once i replaced the light on the drivers side i noticed it had melted inside the wires. I drive home and seen the car was smoking from under the hood amd the battery cables were blazing with fire. Luckily i had a gallon of water that i put the fire out with. I am terrified to drive it and the dealership told me they are no longer liable to fix it because it was only their problem for the first two weeks. So now i have a car payment on a car that caught fire over their electrical engineering. What do i do to get this correctly fixed
I have a 2010 pontiac g6 and since purchasing the vehicle i've had it into gm service centers several times to correct an issue with my brake light lamps not working. While driving, when i would press the brake pedal, the lamps would not illuminate, and when not pressing the pedal and driving the lamps would occasionally illuminate. Additionally, the service traction light and service esc light would come as well and the cruise control would not work.this problem was "fixed" at least 4 or 5 separate times (and would always return several months later) before last year when it then was "fixed" again in october 2014 as an official gm safety recall (gm recall 13036).approximately 5 weeks ago, just over 12 months later, the exact same symptoms began happening to my car again! while driving, the brake lights would not illuminate when pressing the pedal, along with the other electrical issues that are described in my recall letter (service traction control, service esc, etc). I took it back to gm service center and they are claiming now that recall repairs are only done once, and since they can't be sure that the root cause is the same, that i now have to pay out of pocket ($1200) to have this issue corrected.they tried to re-do the recall repair as it was described in the letter, but the issue was not corrected. At that point, gm technical support advised them that the next step would be to replace all the electrical wiring for the braking system. The dealership called me and said that not only would i have to pay out of pocket for this, but also that it might not actually correct the problem. They then said my other option was to drive it home as is, without functioning break lamps.if the symptoms are the same (i.e. Brake lights don't work) as before when the nhtsa determined this to be a safety recall issue, why is gm now unwilling to fix my vehicle?
Power adapter went out first and fuses blow and spark when replaced, august 2014 radio and clock quit working, blinkers flash but do not ding when on, key in ignition with door open does not ding, and today october 3, 2014 the service airbag light came on, and stays on. Are these recall items or fire hazards that gm should replace?
After starting vehicle the display read no esc and then power steering flahed across the dic message display. Turning is very difficult and steering wheel shakes. Turning vehicle off and restarting vehicle caueslo issues to go off but when driving vehicle the esc light comes back on and power steering flashes making it very hard to drive. Prior years have recalls for this same issue happening,
About a year and a half ago, the power steering in my 2010 pontiac g6 completely stopped working. Every time i would start the car, the power steering worked for a couple seconds and then i would hear a faint sound like a fuse or sensor going out, power steering and service esc would begin flashing repeatedly on the dash and my power steering would stop working. Shutting the car off and restarting it only caused the power steering to return for a few seconds. At that time, there was roughly 105,000 miles on the car. I went to an auto shop and they told me it was something computerized/electrical within the steering column and would cost $900 to fix. I was unable to afford to get the car fixed so i continued driving the car without power steering. After months of this, randomly the power steering started working 100% of the time again. There has been no issues with the power steering at all, up until two weeks ago. The same exact thing is happening as before except for it seems like it has gotten worse. I can barely turn the wheel at all, having to use all of my strength to turn the car and it is especially difficult while parking. Currently the car has 117,000 miles on it. Also, the check engine light, traction control and abs lights come on when the power steering goes out.
While driving someone informed me that my brakelights stay on but when i brake the brakelights goes out.i almost got rear ended! they do opposite of they suppose to do.gm has issue a bullitin alerting this could happen.why do they not recall?this is major safety issue.
My brake lights will occasionally turn on when my foot isn't on the brakes whethr the car is moving or not, and then they turn off when i do put my foot on the brakes. Sometimes it seems to be caused by applying the brakes hard or if the abs are needed. Cruise control will sometimes not engage at all or will shut off in the middle of driving.
While ideling my car sometimes dies out but then cranks back up.i never know when this is going to happen. All of my traction lights are on and airbag light is on. My drivers side headlight goes on and off all the time.
Whether it's moving or standing still the steering wheel will shake like crazy and usually the 'power steering' light will come on and the only way to turn it off is to turn off the car and turn it back on (sometimes several times).
I have the 2010 pontiac g6.the service esc light came on and i lost all power steering. Also the traction light came on. I had it replaced a year ago. A week ago, it happened again. I looked to see if there is a recall on this part.turns out there is one for the 2009 but not the 2010.the mechanic said its the same part.so if that's the case, why does the 2010 not have a recall.to have the same issue twice sounds like a problem. As i was checking the recall for the 2010, i found a recall involving a brake light issue. Then it goes on to say it can cause the esc to have a problem. I really would like to have this fixed once and for all. Please let me know what can be done. I need this fixed properly so it's safe for my daughter to drive. Thank you
After starting the car , the esc lights the power steering and the gauges stop working including the gas gauge and odometer. The car becomes impossible to steer. It happens when sitting, driving. On the highway. On any random time it decides
Wires burned off light sockets. Both driver and passenger sides. Door lock solenoid went bad.daughter was unable to get in or out of drivers door.getting abs warning light.getting passenger air bag warning.
I thought my headlight bulb went out and so i went to the car dealership to have them replace it. A few months later the bulb has been going in and out for the last 9 months. The mechanics are telling me it's a wire problem and with the vehicle being a 2010 i shouldn't be having that problem. It's now sept. 28,2012 and once again it has gone out...again. Plus since i got the car i've been hearing rattling either in the passenger door or the dashboard. The dealership wants to charge me but i feel i shouldn't have to pay for gm mistakes.
On may 9, 2016, i was heading to my home when my car stalled briefly in the middle of a major roadway, 220 north, cumberland, maryland 21502.luckily my vehicle re-engaged within a minute in order for me to avoid being hit by any tractor and trailer traffic that was steadily approaching me.needless to say i was petrified during this time thing i was going to be demolished and die in my car!!! there is an issue with the relay connection from the fuse box in the trunk of the pontiact g 6 to the fuel pump which has caused my car to not start on several occassions.we have had it looked at and from everything we have seen and done nothing fixes this problem, not even replacing the fuse box, fuel pump, fuses, etc. Yesterday was the first time it semi stalled in the middle of a major roadway almost causing a major accident.this is a pontiac issue i have seen several complaints of this issue with this vehicle online.this is a safety hazard and needs to be dealt with through a recal from the pontiac manufacturer.and from what i have researched and found that replacing the wiring harness and fuse box is only a temporary fix so if ponitaic is unable to fix this serious problem, they need to trade all pontiac g6 for a vehicle of equal value!!!at this point i am thoroughly frustrated and pissed off with this problem that has not been recalled on these vehicles!!! it is a shame that it will take someone losing their life for the problem to be handled!!!i have had this problem for quite some time now with no permanent soluation, i have missed work due to this problem and have been late on several occassions due to this problem.the worst thing that has happened was yesterday on a major roadway stalling with tractor and trailer traffic coming up behind me.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. On several occasions, while driving various speeds, the check engine, abs, and several other unknown warning indicators illuminated and the power steering failed. Additionally, the tachometer and other gauges became inoperable. The contact also stated that the transmission would shift gears erratically. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or determine the cause of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.
I have replace my headlights once about a month ago. They have just burned out again. It is not appropriate that i should keep having to change out headlights due to an electrical failure due to how the car was made. This is something that requires a recall.
Pins inside wiring harness connector for right headlight corroded, making low beam headlight inoperable. There was no electrical grease inside connection to keep moisture out.
Break lights will eliminate on its own and when i push on my breaks they shut off and my traction control light and my esc light is on also
Gm issued a recall for the exact same issue i am having with my vehicle only for previous years they did extend special coverage but only up to 150,000 miles.this problem with the power steering cutting out at any given time should be considered a major safety issue, i have had to manually try and steer my vehicle when this has cut out, thank god i was pulling into my driveway and not out on the highway at 70mph with my child in the car!! i barely had the strength to steer it when i had to.this is a common issue with this design of electrical power steering and i feel gm should stand behind their product and fix it regardless of the mileage on a person's vehicle. When i start my vehicle up the power steering indicator flashes along with service esc and the steering wheel locks, when i restart the vehicle it will usually reset but this is happening with more and more frequency as well as the steering wheel jerking while sitting idle and also while in motion.just because my vehicle has 30,000 more miles on it than the special coverage allows doesn't mean gm should discard the issue and make it the consumers problem! this is due to their faulty design/manufacturing of this part.
Vehicle once a while does not want to start. Starter is cranking and nothing is happening. Thenyou let it stand for a while and vehicle starts without any problem. No problem for a couple weeks and does it again. Yesterday it stall on highway it was very unsafe and after few minutes restarted with no problem. No warning lights on dashboard and no obd codes. Lot more people have the same problem and gm dealers are not able to figure it out.
After replacing the fuse box, wiring harness, and fuses on my fuse box in the trunk of my g6 i have had no satisfaction as to the problem being remedied that continues to cause situations that could be detrimental to myself and my family.i cannot afford to run right out and purchase a new vehicle especially when i have paid on this one expecting it to last me a very long time.this issue with this relay problem to the fuel pump which has caused my car to now shut down twice on me on main interestates with several cars behind me!this issue needs address is my family going to be compensated should something happen to me while driving this vehicle.will my expenses be paid.this is absolutely ridiculous that this issue is not being address by yourselves or through pontiac.i would like this issue handled or if it cannot be remedied i would like a full refund on my vehicle of $14000 so i may be able to purchase another vehicle.this issue needs addressed.this is my second complaint filing due to myself and family almost being harmed fatally due to this ongoing problem!!!!!
Purchased car used in 2013car will not startsometimes car will loose power steering and jerk going down the roadlose gas indicator and speedometerhas happened several times in 4 yearsnot the battery or the alternatorpossibly theft deterrent deviceseems to be a theme with this make and model however no recall by pontiac probably because they are out of business and dont care
While driving, unexpectedly, an error will appear stating there is an issue with the power steering. At this time, the power steering stops working which makes it very difficult to control the vehicle.at the same time, a "service esc" code appears also and it automatically turns off the traction control system.this happens while driving down the highway at higher rates of speeds which poses a critical safety issue.there is no current recall information at this time for this vehicle.some instances have included the brake lights not working properly or the tail lights not illuminating while the headlights are turned on.this is also a huge safety concern. The vehicle is paid off and expenses have been incurred by the owner to fix this problem, but the issue is recurring.the repair center cannot seem to fix this problem.i am submitting this complaint due to the large safety concerns that these issues pose.i do not believe the owner should continue to accrue costs to fix the problem when the problem ultimately is not mitigated.thank you for your time.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving various speeds, all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The failure occurred intermittently. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. An independent mechanic diagnosed and repaired the oxygen sensor and performed a tune-up, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 127,000.
Brakes light are on when driving or sitting car running and go off when brake pedal is pushed down weather driving or sitting i would consider this a huge safety issue and i see online it's a very know problem
Was parked in friends driveway, emergency brake engaged. Started car and depressed brake and released emergency brake, then shifted into reverse and backed out of driveway.when i shifted from reverse to drive the car died. I put it in park and restarted.. Engine was running very rough, kept trying to die, no power steering, no cool air or a/c.. Service esc message on display as well as traction control "off". Called onstar for ondemand diag. And they said was my emergency brake and to shut off car and then restart... Did that and car ran fine.. For approx. A month.. Then happened again.. On demand diag could not get a code.. Neither could dealership. This continued intermittently until about 1 month ago.. @ 60,400 miles (now out of warranty) took car to dealership and they were able to get 2 codes.. One saying electronic stabilizer and other saying thermostat has went out. (1 consistent thing with all this .. My thermostat gauge would be flatlined no matter if car had been driven recently or not) upon leaving the dealership parking lot, just as i was pulling onto road .the "bumps"from the transition caused the gauge to start displaying again.. And power steering, a/c and cool air resumed working as well... Have not had any more episodes for about a month.. Until 9/2 when i got into my car and started it .. Temp gauge no work, no a/c no pwr steering.. Reached destination and car sat approx 4 hrs.. Then drove 4 miles and engine light came on and has remained on.checked fluids .. All fine.. But did notice engine fan staying engaged continually while driving and for a few seconds after turning off car.
The brake lights will come on and stay on and the cruise control will not work also the traction control will shut off i feel this is a major safety to me and my family but cant seem to get gm to feel the same way with paying the bill. I seen you had a recall from 2005 to 2009 on these cars with the same problem i think the 2010 should be included. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
My brake lights come on and stay on when no one is in the car. They stay on as your going down the road as if your riding your brakes so then your cruise control wont engage. The traction n escape lights come on and off. My dash lights will come on one minute then go back out.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving various speeds, the brake lights failed to engage. When the vehicle was being driven, the brake lights illuminated; however, when the brake pedal was depressed the brake lights did not illuminate. The vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic. Shortly after, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the cruise control had not functioned properly since the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 100,000.
When starting my car, power steering service esc was shown on my message center as my car beeped to alarm me of the message as well as i had no power steering and could not turn my wheel.i looked up on the internet what that message meant and saw that there have been recalls for the same issues on previous years of the same vehicle but that 2010 isn't covered under the recall.online it stated to turn off the vehicle and take the key out of the ignition and then try again.i did so and my car started and the message was gone and my power steering was back (as normal).every time i start my car the same message comes across.although, it's been about a week since this originally started and it is happening more frequently now and takes 4 or 5 times for me to shut my car off and restart it before it "goes back to normal".also, when i'm driving my car veers to the left pretty badly and i have to hold the steering wheel crooked to drive straight.there's also a knocking noise on the driver side that also was stated to be apart of the recall on previous years.my car started smelling like it was burning today and i'm wondering if it's part of the electrical/steering issues that my car is having.this is a huge safety issue.:(
When starting vehicle,a warning message shows and the dic saying power steering, service esc, with traction control symbol off. Power steering is then not functional until key is switch off and the vehicle restarted. This has occurred 6 times at random. There's are recalls for earlier models with the same problem and same parts and needs to be expanded to all models built with these defective parts. This has not happened while driving but from all of the other complaints it is only a matter of time before it does and is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured because of it.
While driving down the road my power steering kicked off and 3 warnings came across my dash "power steering, service esc and esc off" i was close to a stop sign and once there i turned my car off and back on the alarm went away and my power steering was once again working. Not only does my power steering kick off all the time now but my steering wheel constantly jerks to the left, even while the car is stopped. I constantly have to keep it from going into the next lane. You have no warning when your power steering is going to kick off. Its very dangerous and very hard to control the vehicle. I'll be having the car looked at this week but i know what the issue is. Its the same part that was recalled on several other gm cars including 2005-2008 g6. The recall didn't happen until 2012 which was after the 2010 g6 was built. They really need to expand the recall before someone gets hurt.
Was driving when my lights turned off on me had to drive to text of the way home with my high beams i changed them about 3 times and they keep going out
Service air bag comes on and goes off , and on star says they may not deploy. Other people have had accidents and they dont deploy.i feel like the auto company should recall and fixthis.
Took the car in for a recall i received regarding the power steering stated power steering has gone out several times throughout this year and last, steering shaking terribly gm service had the car and told me i need to pay over $300 to fix the battery cables before they could figure out the problem.so it became my problem instead of the recall issue.ridiculous they let me take the car as is.i am appalled at this point.my vehicle has lost power steering many times and is very unsafe but until i do something gm wont do anything.
As my wife and our 11 year old son was in town the pontiac g6 lost steering. My wife pulled off of the road and waited for me to come and get them and drive the car back home. During the ride the power steering never returned.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving 65 mph, the contact noticed that the brake lights were not operating. Also, several warning indicators, including the service traction and electronic stability control, were illuminated. The contact also stated that the brake pedal could be difficult to depress at certain times. Furthermore, the brake lights illuminated intermittently. The contact took the vehicle to two dealers: lithia chevrolet of redding (200 e cypress ave, redding, ca 96002, 877-826-5557 and growney motors (1160 main st, red bluff, ca 96080, (530) 402-4420). The contact was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact was provided an estimate for diagnostic testing. The contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes); however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was excluded from the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Had same issue as other days complaint. This time turning car off and restarting didn't help. Took car straight to shop. Left with the local dealer they called said torque sensor bad same as the 09 recall issue. It's going to cost 517.00 dollars to fix. General motors needs to address this issue before someone gets hurt. I need the car to get to and from work so what does a person dobut fix and hope it's made part of recall. I own 2 other gm vehicles ready to get rid of them before they start falling apart.
The power steering mode/ lightis on and will not go off or allow steering. It's not drivable and is extremely dangerous.before it went completely out it would lose steering going up highway at different times and speeds, but once u cut off ignition and restart it would be ok for another few miles.
There was an initial recall done to where pontiac put a bandaid on the problem with the headlights instead of fixing the problem. The bandaid was to just replace the headlight bulb.if you do research on the internet on this make model and year of vehicle the actual problem is the wiring harness and corrosion. Several people have had the issue but for some reason no one is reporting it but i am due to the fact that mine has not just affected the headlights but also my fuel pump which it caused it to shut off in the middle of interstate 68 with traffic coming up behind me.luckily they realize i was having a problem and went out around me before hitting me.i have since been pulled over 4 times within the last several months due to the headlight being out which was what they recall was for. If you hit the light it comes on.i'm and tired of this and want this problem addressed and actually fixed. Again i was pulled over and issued a repair order for the issue that was a recall by pontiac but was never actually fixed.
Power steering has gone out several times in my vehicle over the course of a month. I turn off the car and turn it back on and that usually fixes it but only temporarly.
Low beam headlights kept going out on both sides.occurred numerous time at night requiring the continuous use of high beams.after replacing the bulbs with recommended wattage 3-4 separate times over a 5 month time span took car into the dealership.dealership service found that the bulb connectors were melted due to the terminal being spread, and the high amperage required to run headlight caused heat to build up and melt connector.headlight connector, socket, and bulbs (4th set of bulbs in 5 months) needed to be replaced.question quality and correct engineering of electrical used for headlights.
4 days ago day upon starting the vehicle coming from the gym the power steering started going out. Since then it has lost all power steering while driving . This is a very serious safety issue. I've done enough research and noticed there is a recall on this model up until 2009 model year but not on the 2010? there really needs to be a recall on the 2010 pontiac g6 because it appears to be very common amongst us g6 owners. Gm needs to own up to this and make these vehicles safe before someone or myself get seriously hurt. Also the service esc message has been appearing as well and "esc off" light is on. Please help toget this issue resolved. I have made an appointment for tomorrow or monday if they can get me in. Of course i'll have to pay for it because no recall has been issued for this model. Seems i'm not the only one with this problemand lack of or loss of steering could cause a major issue!
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the steering wheel started to vibrate abnormally while the power steering warning light, the service esc warning light and traction contraction warning light were illuminated. The contact called local dealer denny menholt rapid chevrolet located at 2323 e mall dr, rapid city, sd 57701 and granite buick gmc located at 2454 e mall dr, rapid city, sd 57701, and notified the dealers of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
This has happened on more than one occassions and after doing a search on the interenet i have found others who have had the same problem. My car starts but it does not turn over all the way. It will do this several times then it finally starts. The battery is brand new and is very strong, and like i mentioned it starts and is strong it just does not turn all the way over.alternator is fine, etc. Believed to be some type of electrical issue.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the esc, traction and the cruise control warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the brake warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Updated 09/29/16*ljupdated 10/04/16.
Check engine light went on and the steering locked up and was unable to turn right at a light.forcefully turning the wheel with great effort i managed to make my way into a grocery store parking lot took a deep breath and turned the car off.waited several minutes took the key out of the ignition and started the car again the steering was back and i continued on to work reluctantly since i am unsure when and if this is going to happen again.
In the beginning my car would pull to one side and the steering wheel would shake really bad.it would shake driving and at a stand still.after it would shake the power steering would shut off.i could be driving or at a stand still when it shuts off (it didn't matter).i start my car now and the power steering light comes on as soon as i turn the key saying that the electric power steering is not working.
It started with the headlight going out again and again even after new bulbs. This car seems to have major electrical problems which a chain of events has turned into steering problems and the whole dashboard clicking and flashing to the rythym of the click. When the dashboard goes black the wheel wont turn at all. I know of someone with the same car who has the same headlight problem. Easy to get pulled over for that one. Called pontiac they wouldn't do anything.will never buy a pontiac again.
Bought new-used 2010 pontiac g6 with only 59,000 miles on it (2 previous owners) and less than 7 months latee, i have had constant issues with the passenger side headlight shorting out. Replaced bulbs many times, only for it to go out again less than 2 weeks later. Then, the noticed the socket was corroded and melted. I looked online for any info and came across hundredsof complaints for the same issue for my make and model. Yet, no recall! apparently these connectors were made with wires too close together, and so they get too hot and then short out. So even replacing the entire headlight harness will prove usless, as it will just continue to happen with the new one. At a loss as how to permanently fix this problem. I cannot drive at night or get my car inspectedbecause of this . As far as when it started, the bulbs seemed to go out when i turned my car on to go somewhere, id notice the bulb was out. Never went out while driving.
Esc is saying off and the steering wheel has become hard to turn with.
Repeated loss of power steering, displaying "service esc" message on dash while vehicle was in motion, once on a high speed road. Over the past 2 years i've experienced this problem with this vehicle, several times with no help at getting to the bottom of it.
I noticed i had a low-beam headlight out around christmas but didn't get around to replacing it until 1/19/15.once it was replaced, it was again not working within less than 24 hrs after the replacement.i returned it to the shop, where the technician found that the headlight harness around the new bulb had melted.i am now awaiting parts to have that replaced.i understand this is a continuing problem with gm cars of that year, and that they tend to keep blowing bulbs and needing harness replacements.
My power steering goes in and out ,i hit a curb today on the expressway when the power steering stopped and then suddenly started working again.this power steering issue will cause some one to have a very bad accident, and gm is aware of this issue, this can turn into a very serious lawsuite,i demand that my 2010 pontiac g6steering problem be covered under recall, this is a formal demand.

Esc off and service esc came on as soon as vehicle steering locked up then wouldn't turn at all when you try to turn it it jerked back to the other side. Burnt nasty smell from inside and outside car. Now car won't even start or nothing
While driving downhill at approximately 50 mph, the power steering warning indicator went off and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn, shorty followed by the electronic stability control warning indicator. I pulled off on the shoulder of the road and turned the engine off and restarted the engine, and the power steering worked again, but the same thing happened once more on my 35 mile commute to work. On the way home, however, the power steering would only work for about 15 seconds each time i turned the engine off and back on. Now both the power steering and esc dont work at all. I took the vehicle to the gm dealer where i live, and was informed that the car was displaying error code c0545, indicating that the steering shaft torque sensor, the torque position sensor in the steering, needs replacement, and that there is a recall out on other years of pontiac g6's for the same problem, but 2010 was left off the recall. No word yet on whether gm is going to own up to their problem and take care of it, but after reading all the other complaints on here related to the same problem, i am not too optimistic. It is unbelievable that gm can manufacture and sell vehicles with problems like this. It's a wonder that there was not an accident involved when this happened, the vehicle is completely unsafe to drive.
While driving down highway service power steering service esc. Lost steering very hard to steer. Turned car off restarted then had no issues. Then several hours later had same issue turned car off and was able to make it home.
Service esc keeps coming on and nobody can seem to find out why.also driver side headlight keeps blowing.believe there was a recall but dealership says no.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While the cruise control was activated while driving approximately 70 mph, the esc, traction control, and engine warning indicators illuminated. The cruise control deactivated independently. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. The vehicle was restarted and the gear lever failed to shift from park into the drive position until after several attempts. The vehicle resumed normal operation; however, the warning indicators remained illuminated. The vehicle was serviced previously per nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The recall remedy was insufficient and the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing, which detected various trouble codes related to the bcm. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Low traction light and esc lights have come on at random during low speed with-out applying the brake, while the car is in park and while driving on dry pavement at low speed without the wheels losing traction. No code error detected when the code programmer was ran and the code error automatically self clears after turning the ignition off then turning back on. The problem has occurred during times of extreme heat greater than 98 outside uncertain if a computer malfunction. The brakes operate normally while operating the vehicle when the code error occurs.
Recall fixed this is 3rd time . I am disabled and this is terrible.and my brake lights and headlights burn out or dont work right after replacement
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While the vehicle was parked, the service power steering and service esc was displayed across the message board. In addition, the steering wheel vibrated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.
I had an incident in 2013 that might come in to play with a recent recall. I own a 2010 pontiac g6. As i was driving down a main road traveling at an average speed of 45mph my vehicle became impaired. The dash screen projected service esc/ low traction. The steering became almost impossible to control and no matter how hard i pushed the gas pedal down the car would not go any faster than 5 mph. The car also became jerky, jerking the whole car back and forth for a moment. I this happen multiple times. I took the car to the gm shop and after changing a lot of parts that didn't need to be changed they finally changed a part called a sensor and that seemed to stop the problem. It seems there is starting to be a recall on this but not my car and i'm not sure why. This isn't the first problem i had with this car sense i got it. ...updated 08/12/15 updated 9/29/17
Driving to town and the car starts to"ding" at me. I look down and it says "power steering" and "service esc" and then i notice that there is no longer any power steering.
Has happened multiple times past two weeks. Issue typically occurs at starting of car, once while driving down highway: a chime is heard, the dic displays power steering, the esc off indicator comes on, and power steering is lost. Turning off car and restarting can reset and power steering works. When power steering is working, the steering wheel shakes while at a stop, can sometimes be felt when driving.
The power steering mode/ lightis on and will not go off or allow steering. It's not drivable and is extremely dangerous.before it went completely out it would lose steering going up highway at different times and speeds, but once u cut off ignition and restart it would be ok for another few miles.
Recently when i went to start the vehicle up it was showing "service esc" on the dash. And it would run rough and execute low power when mobile. This would occur every other day for a month, and as of today is undrivable. After having it electronically diagnosed, it needs a new computer and is completely undrivable until a new one is installed and programmed. Why is my vin # not included in the recent recall?
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving, the electronic stability control indicator illuminated and the vehicle became difficult to control. The driver pulled over, restarted the engine, and the vehicle resumed driving normally. The vehicle was taken to greiner buick gmc (14555 civic drive, victorville ca, 92394, (760) 245-3451) to be diagnosed, but a failure code could not be found. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electrical system, exterior lighting, vehicle speed control, electronic stability control). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.
Going down road esc warning and power steeringwarning. Power steering went. Will not reset
While driving the car down the street the power steering/power assist fails and the car is impossible to control. When going around a curve the car could exit the roadway. Stopping, turning off the car and turning it back will rectify the problem temporarily.
While traveling in heavy traffic, the power steering failed, extremely hard to turn wheel, brought car to stop.dash indicated "service esc", and "power steering".pulled into parking lot, turned off car, and a short time later, restarted car, seemed to work correctly, this happened several more times over the following several days, but would come back after car was shut off and restarted.after a week of this, it happened again, but would not come back after car was reset.unable to driver car at this time as a result.
Service esc flashes along with the abs light on. Also my passager headlight blows whenever it feels like it. Could be one day could be one month.
When car is in motion, "service esc" appears on the display screen. It flashes "service esc..... Traction off...... Esc off". This display will disappear when car is turned off and will sporadically occur while driving.
First the power steering light keeps illuminating and the then service escis now on and it shut off. This is an obvious safety issue that wasn't fixed in the 2014 recall. Also the service esc and brake lights sometime illuminate and then go off. Now it's just on all the time and has shut off my esc. It is lit when driving and in park.
Intermittent problem, city & rural driving, slow and fast speeds, while turning and while on straight, in motion and while parked, smooth roads and rough, raining and dry.however, problem occurred only a handful of times during the winter.started over 6 months ago, approx 93,000 miles. While driving, 3 bell-dings, "power steering," "disabled esc," and "service esc" dash lights come on, along with icon of car w/swervy lines.continue driving and steering seemed ok.dash continues to cycle "power steering" and "service esc" warnings.issue repeats randomly.after a period of normal use, problem intensifies to dashboard gages, radio scv, and cruise to off ; auto shifting becomes rough.all gages then flutter up and down intermittently.work done: mechanic = 9 pages of codes. New battery/battery cables. Drove a while, recurred - no codes.drove a little while longer, recurred; cleaned battery, checked fuses.passed inspection.drove a while; 5 pages of codes.applied electric grease to bcm terminals.drove 3 days; "power steering" and "service esc" issue recurred.have video; format not allowed
Dear nhtsa;i own a 2010 pontiac g6 that within the last week incurred a power steering failure.recall research shows that on march 2014 the nhtsa required gm to issue a recall for this exact problem, however, it only covered the g6 models up to the year 2009.the service advisor at the dealership acknowledged that the "problem" was very similar to the steering problem for earlier models that are subject to the recall.however, since the 2010 model year was not included in the nhtsa recall, the cost to repair the problem falls to the consumer and is estimated to be in the $1,800 to $2,000 range.this is clearly a safety issue and mirrors the same characteristic's as earlier models included in the recall.i have contacted gm regarding this matter and have been assured that a local customer service representative will be contacting me within 48 hours.while i appreciate gm's willingness to "consider" the matter, i urge the nhtsa to re-visit the model years subject to the recall.the consumer should not be burdened with the cost of repairing what is obviously a design defect.further and more importantly is safety for the passengers and other drivers on the road.i hope that the ntsb will investigate this matter accordingly and amend the power steering recall to include 2010 models.thank you.

While driving service power steering service esc audible and visual alarms received. Lost power steering/very hard to steer. Turned car off restarted then had no issues. Then several hours later had same issue occurred...turned car off/on and power steering restored.this issue keeps re-occurring with this 2010 g6, 2.4l v4 when driving at various speeds.dealer indicates no open recall for this 2010 model despite recalls for earlier year g6 models with these exact symptoms.
I have noticed that sometimes my car pulls when i am at rest and driving. Today, i sat in my car to get some heat on my lunch break. My car began to shake violently and messages and lights popped up. The engine, tcs and esc lights came on. I turned it off and crank it again and i could hear the engine rattling. That happened around 1 pm. I got off around 730 pm tonight and as i drove the car rode good for about 2 miles and then it began to slow down and all of these warnings popped up regarding traction and powering down. I pulled over sat and crank my car and the engine rattled horribly. I turned it off and crank it again. The ride was not smooth and it was jerking. We have not received any information regarding a recall on my vehicle this year. I received one i believe last year and took care of it.
Intermittently while stopping the abs and traction control malfunction errors come up on the dash and the traction control off light comes on. After i stop and release the brakes the lights turn off. I have taken it to a local service station and to the dealer the only code registered was c0561 which, from what i have been told, is another computer telling the brake controller to disable the abs or a communication failure. I have also had onstar run the codes as it happened and they only had the one code. This happens intermittently and sometimes 2 to 3 times during one drive. So far it has only happened at low speed, but i am concerned that it may happen when the abs or traction control are needed.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving 15 mph, the traction control system and electronic stability control system failed. The brake light illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving, the esc warning light illuminated and the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle off of the roadway. The vehicle was turned and restarted however, the failure persisted. The action was repeated and after the second attempt the vehicle operated as intended. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer contacted classic chevrolet located at 6877 center st, mentor, oh 44060, (440)953-1070 and scheduled an appointment on behalf of the contact. The contact stated that the appointment was not kept due to the cost of the repair fee. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
2010 pontiac g6 it started out when i would start my car a light would come on,the dashboard that said esc off ,then power steering. I would turn off car and turned back on and it would be fine the information went off. It is getting worse i have no power steering, sometimes when i'm driving down the highway i have almost wrecked it was very scary.i got on the internet and i see where there has been a thousands of complaints about this issue the very same problems i'm having with the 2010 pontiac g 6. I had my car looked at and the dealer ship said it was in the steering column and the steering column cost 1200 dollars i haven't had it fixed yet ,i don't have 1200 dollars.i see the 2009 pontiac g6 had a recall on the very same issue, please help us 2010 pontiac g 6 owners and have this year re called as well we can not afford to have this fixed. Pontiac does this to us general motors needs to help. P for someone is in a serious accident and people lose their lives.please look into this problem as soon as possible p for people die.
Takata recall esc and traction lights wont go off weather driving or stationary. Left head light keeps blowing out, i've seen this on several cars just like mine
Driving into work the warning bells sounded on the car. The power steering was illuminated and after a few minutes the esc off and esc warning also came in.
Takata recall i am having problems with my wiring i've a shortness in it my steering wheel column is messing up. The power steering light keeps coming on it happen while i was driving down the highway on the e-way. I was going into a sharp turn and near had a accident on the e-way. The vechile was in motion while i was driving it
When i start the car and running (park) , the power steering control esc shows on the dash and locks up the steering so i can't turn out of a parking spot. It has locked up while i was driving in town before before to. Whenever this has happened, all i had to do was turn the car off and turn it back on to turn off the power steering control esc. But recently this had happened while parked the traction control light came on and the power steering control would not go away even after turning it off and on. I have done a lot of research, and a lot of people are having this same problem with their 2010 model and are getting injured. I would advise this problem being recalled, while all other models from 2005-2009 have been recalled, and 2010 seems to be the worse.
The traction light is coming on and going off intermittently. The power steering went out and reverted to manual steering. Sensor codes are intermittently coming up when the check engine light is lit. Problem with the evac system. There are problems with the starter engaging longer than it should. The ignition switch moves more than it should. These problems have happened while driving and also stationary. The power steering went out while my teenage son was driving down the street which was dangerous.
The other day my wife and i were going down the roadand as i was going into a curve i lost my power steering almost hit the bank and since then i cant even drive it because of the power steering going i think this should be a recall because we could have got injuredor even worse killed this should be a safety recall before someone gets hurt or they do and they sue gm for this safety issueand when i go to the dealer ship i will not pay for it and if i do gm will hear about it.
When i turn on the car the power steering and service esc messages appear. . sometimes as soon as i pull out of the driveway, and i haven't even started turning the wheel, it will become hard and difficult to turn. The car will be driving fine and all of a sudden the power steering goes out and the steering becomes very hard and stiff. This has happened while on major roads and while coming in ang going out of the driveway. It's really random and sometimes it won't happen at all for a while. When it does happen it happens for a few times a day. My remedy is usually just pulling over, putting the car in park and shutting it off., letting it rest for a minute and start it again.
I lose power steering from time to time.i may have it when i start the car and then lose it going down the road.i may not have it when i start the car and then it comes back.
While ideling my car sometimes dies out but then cranks back up.i never know when this is going to happen. All of my traction lights are on and airbag light is on. My drivers side headlight goes on and off all the time.
Esc is saying off and the steering wheel has become hard to turn with.
'esc off' was displayed shortly after the car was turned on, while it was parked. I was unable to move the steering wheel. It took multiple attempts of turning the car on and off in order to be able to move the steering wheel. I researched it and pontiac has recalled similar esc issues within the same time frame that my car was manufactured.
The power steering warning and service esc lights come on and it is almost impossible to steer.this happens while driving, it is a very concerning issue. It started with the steering wheel almost locked, esp when using the autostart.we would have to turn it off and then use the key to turn back on.sometimes this would allow us to drive it for a short time, other times it would stay locked.the most scary part is it locking up while driving.my 18 year old drives this car and i am concerned for his safety.
While the car is parked and running the power steering control esc will be on on the dash and lock up the steering wheel and i can't turn out of a parking spot. When this occurred i used to be able to turn off the car and turn it back on and it would be off. But recently it has been occurring a lot more often. I was parked with car running and the power steering esc would stay on even after turning it on and off. Then the no traction light appeared. Once the power steering control was off i would drive my car and turn it off but when i turned it back on the power steering would be on again so i can't steermy car. The power steering control esc has even turned on while driving and becomes very hard to turn. I have done a lot of research and had found that it has happened to a lot of 2010 models, and some have even got into accidents and injured. The 2010 models do not have recalls but the 2005-2009 models do for the same reasons. I would advise this problem to be looked into further and notify all who have 2010 models.
My 2010 pontiac g6 will randomly have the stability control and traction control lights will come on while driving. This comes and goes and can go for months without it happening and then randomly start up again. Now my steering wheel is shaking while driving and even while stopped and about every 3rd time i start my car i have no power steering and the power steering light comes on. So far it has only happened when i start my car and i can turn it off and restart it and the power steering works again. I contacted my gm dealership when the electronic stability control lights started coming on and they said it would cost around 2,000 to fix, and now i need to get the steering column replaced which is going to be another large bill.
This incident has happened no less than 100 times in the past 3 months. Started off in mid april with the dashboard alert beeps, and warning display that the power steer is not serviceable, followed by a 2nd alert theesc is off. Along with the alerts. I lost all power steering. When the car is shut off and restarted, the error was cleared and normal steering control resumed.and from mid april 2014 until early june, this error was very random an occurred only a few time (less than 10) but since early june, it happens almost constant. I no sooner stop, turn off the car, then restart the car which sometimes clears the error and sometimes doesn't. I was just told minutes ago that my car's vin was not on the recall list, yet the model and year is! along with millions of others... I can't drive it as is,and can't afford to get it fixed... Why isn't an obvious problem addressed better than this? and what am i to do?
After starting the car , the esc lights the power steering and the gauges stop working including the gas gauge and odometer. The car becomes impossible to steer. It happens when sitting, driving. On the highway. On any random time it decides
My passenger low beam headlight bulb will not work, changed the bulb and it blew within 3 days replaced it and now it wont work, changed the fuse and it still didnt fix the problem.
Driving home from a long weekend in hibbing mn, we are driving at around 10pm at night when all of the sudden the vehicle shuts off completely. The headlights turned off, steering wheel locked and brakes were not reacting at all due to the vehicle not been running. We were both really scared as the vehicle would not turn the lights on even after i manually tried to turn them on. Car rolled to a stop i slowly applied the emergency/parking brake to help the vehicle stop as i couldn't see anything. After 10 minutes of trying to get the car to start again it did restart. Car had plenty of fuel, i had just replaced the battery roughly 6 months prior to that happening. So i know it was not out of fuel or a battery issue. I have not had the problem again but it was a very scary experience.
My brake lights come on and stay on when no one is in the car. They stay on as your going down the road as if your riding your brakes so then your cruise control wont engage. The traction n escape lights come on and off. My dash lights will come on one minute then go back out.
Takata recall i am having problems with my wiring i've a shortness in it my steering wheel column is messing up. The power steering light keeps coming on it happen while i was driving down the highway on the e-way. I was going into a sharp turn and near had a accident on the e-way. The vechile was in motion while i was driving it
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the brake lights would constantly illuminate when the brake pedal was not being pressed and the brake lights would turn off when the brake pedal was being pressed. The contact also indicated that the electronic stability control would erroneously shut off while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed and the manufacturer was notified of the failure but no solution was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 84,000.
Was driving when my lights turned off on me had to drive to text of the way home with my high beams i changed them about 3 times and they keep going out
While driving brake likes stay on.when braking, brake light go off.they do opposite of what they suppose to do.gm has issued a bullitin.
Service esc flashes along with the abs light on. Also my passager headlight blows whenever it feels like it. Could be one day could be one month.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the esc, traction and the cruise control warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the brake warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Recall fixed this is 3rd time . I am disabled and this is terrible.and my brake lights and headlights burn out or dont work right after replacement
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated while driving approximate 15 mph, the headlights became inoperable. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The mechanic was unable to locate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Wires burned off light sockets. Both driver and passenger sides. Door lock solenoid went bad.daughter was unable to get in or out of drivers door.getting abs warning light.getting passenger air bag warning.
I have had to change my low beam light bulbs 3 times in 2 months. I have gotten pulled over twice now for a light out. Now i find if i smack the light it comes back on?
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving at various speeds, the power steering suddenly malfunctioned and the steering wheel would become very difficult to turn. The contact indicated that when the failure occurred, the esc off and power steering warning sensors would illuminate and the steering wheel would vibrate. The contact also indicated that while operating the vehicle, the low beam headlights would suddenly shut off and only the high beam headlights could be used. The head lamps were replaced on several occasions, but the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000.
The headlight connections easily become corroded and burns out the connection and the low beam headlight will not work.
Headlight bulbs for both driver and passenger sides need to be replaced repeatedly.the pigtail socket for the bulb appears to have overheated.i have owned the car for 3 years and replaced headlight bulbs six times.
I have replace my headlights once about a month ago. They have just burned out again. It is not appropriate that i should keep having to change out headlights due to an electrical failure due to how the car was made. This is something that requires a recall.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While attempting to make a turn, the front and rear lights failed to signal. The lights on the instrument panel illuminated. In addition, the front driver door failed to open or close. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 148,000.

My headlights (both) will go out from time to time. I can start my car and one of the lights will be out. I can get out and hit above the light and it comes back on. Then i can be driving down the road, hit a bump and one of them go out. You never know when one or both may go out. I have replaced the lights 2 times since owning the car in december 2012. They have never both gone out at the same time, but i am worried about it happening. Then what will i do? this problem really needs to be addressed. My husband and i both have been pulled over for having a headlight out. We then show the cop that all we have to do is hit it. Thankfully we have not gotten a ticket yet.
Brakes light are on when driving or sitting car running and go off when brake pedal is pushed down weather driving or sitting i would consider this a huge safety issue and i see online it's a very know problem
2 years ago,i had to replace the driver side front light harness. I now have to replace the passenger side front light harness.this should not be happening.i replaced the low beam headlight only for it to not work 2 days later.this happened while driving.
The low-beam passenger side headlamp went out, so i replaced it hoping that the issue was just a burnt out headlamp.however, the same headlamp went out again 3 months later (approximately 12/15/12).at that time i further inspected the wiring to find that the connector had melted causing the light to burn out.at this point i had the connector replaced on the passenger side.approximately 1 week ago (approx. 9 months after replacing the connector on the passenger side) the low-beam driver side headlamp went out. Again, hoping that it was just the bulb, i took it apart to replace the bulb.unfortunately, the connector on the driver's side is now melted as well.i will have to replace this asap as it is a possible fire hazard.i appears that an overwhelming number of people have had this same issue, with nothing being done about it.i fear that it will take a customer's car catching on fire to elicit any type of recall.please check into this before it becomes a serious issue and injures/kills someone.
My headlight assembly keeps melting and then the headlights (low & high beam) do not come on.i replaced the headlights about 6x until i called the gm dealership and they explained this is due to a manufacturing defect.there has been no recall from gm for this specific issue.i did file a complaint with gm but they said there is nothing they will do and i need to pay to have it repaired myself. The lights go out completely when driving and this is a serious issue, especially at night.i don't want to hurt myself or anyone due to having no headlights.there are many complaints on google for this exact issue yet gm will not issue a recall.please help.i am on a budget and simply cant afford to have this repaired when it should be gm's responsibility.
The brake lights will turn and stay on as the car is started from cold or warm engine. While driving the brake lights will stay on and die as i press on the brake pedal. Many cars have nearly rear ended me andi've received many comments from people driving around me stating the same thing i see, brake lights are on till i hit the brakes. Which confuses them and they always have to screech they're tires to stop from impact (10 incidents). This faulty incident happened right before my warranty expires. I took in to gm and they couldn't address nor believed me because my service esc and traction lights were off and it didn't mimick the same. But after 36, 000 miles this issue happened everyday. Unless it is 80 degrees out it doesn'tcome on as often more like every other start up. It is really unsafe to be driving this car on the highway or right before a heavy intersection. Will gm fix this issue or wait for a bad disaster to happen like toyota? there are plenty of other g6 i see on the road with the same issue so i know it is not just mines. If this isn't going to be recall, gm has lost all respect, at least with toyota they admitted to faulty brakes and went along to fix them. While gm for years have ignore this issue. My first american car and my only bad experience with a vehicle.my next car will most likely not be a gm made faulty car till this issue has been realized and address.

Repeated loss of power steering, displaying "service esc" message on dash while vehicle was in motion, once on a high speed road. Over the past 2 years i've experienced this problem with this vehicle, several times with no help at getting to the bottom of it.
Recently noticed fuel smell coming from vehicle.aware of recall done in 2012 for issue with fuel pump i believe this is a related issue.
A few months ago i started smelling fuel from my parked vehicle. As time has gone on it has gotten worse, and my car is beginning to lose power and fail to run properly. I have been informed by a mechanic that the smell is coming from a small fuel leak coming from a connector on the fuel pump assembly. This issue seems to be identical to the issue described in recall #09v419000. I have heard from other g6 owners and they seem to have this issue as well.
My car started smelling of gas.another mechanic noticed a slow gas leak.i took it to the dealer and was told it's the fuel pump.i see that a recall had been done on earlier years of my model but not the 2010.given that there has been no impact to the vehicle, it appears to be a defect in the car.

I have got locked inside my car. I was with my family at casey's and i could not get out of my driver side door. We unlocked it again and again but could not get the door to open. The other doors worked fine. Finally my daughter helped me out of the car. This just happened to my son too and he told me to file a complaint as well. There is one other girl that we know of that has the same issue. It was very scary being trapped inside the car. I was just glad i wasn't alone.
I have been locked inside my vehicle at least 15 times. Yesterday both the driver door and the passenger door would not open. The car was in park, i pressed the unlock button several times and could hear the door unlock, however the door would not open. I have called pontiac and they have stated that there is no recall on this. So i looked further into this by doing a general search on google and apparantly there are hundreds having this issue. My mother and sister both drive a g6 as well and this has happened to them as well. I would think an issue like this would be just a serious as toyota's brakes not working. If there were to be a fire or serious wreck i would not be able to get out of my car. I have had to crawl out the window or through the backseat to get out of my car. As a professional business man let me tell you how embarassing this is when you are arriving at a meeting with a client and they have to see you crawl through the back door to get out. Pontiac is not doing anything to remedy the problem and if you search the internet you will find this is happening to many people and the model of the year of the car really does not matter. I saw a 2006 with this issue all the way up through the 2010 model year.
There were multiple occasions where we were locked inside our vehicle and unable to get out due to a faulty door handle/ lock. To exit the vehicle we would had to crawl out the window or through to the back seat. We ended up fixing the problem with a local car dealer, however could never get the company to admit any fault for the problem. We know of other g6 owners that have had the same problem and have not been able to get it fixed. This problem really needs to be addressed!
Car was parked. We walked towards the car, unlocked it, started it, buckled up, put it in reverse, the car chimed and the led screen read "door ajar" passenger door wouldn't latch (i'm always picky about my car, i always tell my passengers "don't slam the door" before we get in the car) so i know the problem was not generated by me. When i got the door to latch i was happy. But now the door won't open. My passenger had to crawl out the drivers door.
Manufacturer recall for steering and transmission
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while parked and powering off, the vehicle jerked forward. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 12v460000 (power train). The dealer and the manufacturer informed the contact that the part was not available for the recall repair. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
The steering is making a noise like gears slipping over riding one another, and catches in turns, the power steering light is on,the speedometer is not working and you have to run it to a high rpm to shift out from one gear to another, and it shifts hard when it does.
Torque sensor is outside of range regarding power steering.
My cars power steering has gone out and i've noticed a recall on the 09s and earlier but not on a 2010. I have had issues driving with it like that. I live in northern idaho where the roads are icy, slushy and slippery and it makes it very difficult to drive. With the power steering out it is hard to correct my slides and almost makes it worse and really hard to control. I would like to know why the recall isn't on the 2010s yet. It is quite dangerous.
Car turns off when idling and power steering and brakes don't work when idles.
Driving down the highway (no potholes) and the front axle on the drivers side came apart leaving my car at a sudden stop and unable to get off the road. No new car warranty on the drive line after 30,000 miles. Had to have the car towed and cost over $1,500 for repairs.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled forward while parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer stated that the shifter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 31,000 and the current mileage was 33,000.
Sometimes around 40 to 55 mph the car begins to jerk, and than when i give it gas the car doesn't accelerate.it happens sometime at low speed too.i took the car to three different dealers.one gm couldn't find anything.so i took it to the dealer where i bought the car.they said it was transmission.but i couldn't get it fix there because it's no longer a pontiac/gm dealer. To get it fix under 100000 miles power train warranty i need to take it to a gm dealer.so i took it to gm dealer just down the road.they said they felt something going on, but could not figure it out.no check light, so they said they have to wait until a light comes on.i am not sure if this has anything to do with recent recalls on g6, but there is something wrong with the car.my daughter's drives this car to school an hour away three times a week.are there any other complains like this?thank you
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while stationary, in the reverse position, the transmission failed. The contact placed the vehicle in the drive position but the vehicle failed to accelerate forward. The contact stated that the vehicle was pushed from the middle of the road into a nearby drive-way. An independent mechanic stated that the transmission shift cable fractured. The independent mechanic was able to temporarily repair the transmission shift cable and the vehicle was able to br driven to the contact's residence. Courtesy of vermilion (1201 us-167, abbeville, louisiana 70510, (337) 347-8983) was made aware of the failure and stated that nhtsa recall number: 12v460000 (power train) was previously repaired on the vehicle in 2015. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
I am the owner of a 2010 pontiac g6 with a 4-speed automatic. My car was serviced for a recall in for the transmission shifter cable. To cure the fix the recall(12106) called for a retainer to be added to the cable to prevent the breakage from occurring. Recently not even two years later as i was pulling into my apartment complex driveway the shifter cable broke causing the my steering and drivability to be impaired. I was able to apply the brakes, but i could not drive the vehicle any further. I put the car in park and exited my vehicle to check out the problem as my car started to roll away. I ran to catch the car trying to prevent my car from running into another car, pedestrians and a nearby items. I was injured in the process. The injuries were not life threatening, but they consisted of bruising, back injuries and my foot being ran over. My car also has scrapes. If the recall was supposedly fixed then the cable should not have broken that soon or at all putting the car is that state of danger. I contacted the dealership and they said there was nothing they could do. Something is not right here, if they repaired the recall correctly and it was a efficient method this should not of still happen. The fix they did is either only a temporary fix and/ or the method they are using is not effective. Also a possibly there might be other parts of the cable that are defected. Gm was very incompliant and did not care to examine or see this matter any further, but if this has happen to me it could also be a serious issue with others still. I had to pay a large amount of money to have the car fixed, but this defect and solution are obviously still not working because this is not a normal breakage for any vehicle. ...updated 03-23-15 updated 06/09/15 updated 9/28/2017
Passenger seat no longer senses when there is a passenger seated so the passenger airbag off light is always illuminated. Passenger airbag won't deploy if needed.
While driving on city street, drivers seat collapsed in rear right area. Seat has a crack in steel frame, causing it to tilt in an awkward direction, making difficult to drive.
Driving home after work. It was snowing so everyone is going slow. Randomly the car would slip and say "low traction" on the led screen. No big deal it's just saying to drive carefully. After one hour it started saying "esc active" and i could feel the car trying to correct itself. Five minutes later after esc kept popping on the screen the car chimed and now it was reading "service esc" on the led screen and an icon came on the dashboard saying "esc off"the led screen keeps switching between "service esc" and "service traction control"being that there was a lot of snow the traction control was really helpful but since the light came on the car was just going all over and had a hard time trying to maneuver it, even at low speeds.lights won't go off after turning the vehicle on\off they are still there. Taking the car to the dealer today. Not looking forward to it. Im on my second g6 first one was great. This one not so much.
Brakes light are on when driving or sitting car running and go off when brake pedal is pushed down weather driving or sitting i would consider this a huge safety issue and i see online it's a very know problem
The contact owns 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the brake lights failed to illuminate when the brake was engaged. Often times, the brake light would remain illuminated when the brake pedal was not being engaged.in addition, the cruise control function would deactivate independently when being utilized. The traction control and electronic stability control service warning lights illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.updated 3/14/13
Car turns off when idling and power steering and brakes don't work when idles.
The brakes felt like they were grabbing/holding and were making a bumping sound. This occurred while going down hill or stopping quickly. A week later the abs light came on, and the brake lights came on and stayed on while driving.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving 15 mph, the traction control system and electronic stability control system failed. The brake light illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact was driving approximately 70 mph when the rear brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being engaged. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to duplicate the malfunction however, the brake switch was replaced but the failure continued. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
I have owned my 2010 pontiac g6 for approximately 2 years. Numerous times while driving, the vehicle will lose power and the steering will lock up. After locking up, the service esc, power steering, and traction control lights all illuminate. The steering will remain locked up until you shut the vehicle down and restart it. Sometimes it will take turning the vehicle on and off multiple times. I have had this happen in many times while driving; however more times than not it occurs in curves or while making a turn. After further review i see there has beenrecalls issued till similar models prior to 2010; however 2010 has been left out. This is a major safety concern and has almost caused numerous wrecks; because when this failure occurs, you lose power steering and traction control.

Brake caliper holding bolts come out. There will be a thumping noise when applying the brakes and you will find that one of the bolts is missing. This is the second time this issue has happened to me.
My front rotors on my 2010 pontiac g6 keep slipping. Ya'll need to make a recall for this. This is my third american made vehicle from gm and i'm totally not satisfied! pissed off!!! do something about it!! at least help the ones that purchase the cars while the big wigs are sitting in there comfy black chairs sippin coffee!

Three weeks after i purchased my car i was driving on a busy highway and my steering wheel locked up and the power steering light came on. I received a message "check power steering service esc".i finally came to a red light and i was able to turn the car off and restarted it.the message was gone and the light was off.i drove a few more minutes and it happened again. I took it to the dealership where i purchased it and they said it needed a new steering column.i do not have the money to purchase a new one or have it fixed.
I noticed that when i would go to start the vehicle i would get some waring lights such as "no power steering" and "service esc" or something to that affect. There would be no power steering when i would first turn on the car but it i shut it back off and then restarted it would clear out and i would have power steering. Shortly after that started the steering wheel would make jerking or rapid movements back and forth by itself sometimes even when i was driving down the road. Eventually the power steering went out while i was driving and nearly caused me to wreck! i began a search to see if there had been any steering problems with the pontiac g6 reported and i found that there had actually been several recalls but when i contacted gm and they said that although the pontiac g6 2005-2006 and 2008-2009 models had been recalled that my 2010 had not been included in the recall. They told me that since my vehicle was no longer under warranty they would not cover the repair..... Even though it was the exact same part that failed (steering wheel torque sensor) on the vehicles that had been recalled. I had to pay out of pocket.....$503!
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that there was a reoccurring failure in which the esc warning light illuminated. The steering wheel was extremely tight each time the failure occurred shortly after starting the vehicle and once it was in motion. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and a dealer for further inspection and diagnosis. It was unknown if the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
I own a 2010 pontiac g6 that within the last week incurred a power steering failure. While making a turn or a curve the steering locks up. . recall research shows that on march 2014 the nhtsa required gm to issue a recall for this exact problem, however, it only covered the g6 models up to the year 2009. The service advisor at the dealership acknowledged that the "problem" was very similar to the steering problem for earlier models.
Traction control light comes on and the dash says service esc and then flashes power steering and then the power steering stops working. Sometimes the power steering just stops working and i never know when it's going to happen, i don't have the money to fix this so i have no choice but to drive it and this has almost gotten me into several accidents
When starting my car, power steering service esc was shown on my message center as my car beeped to alarm me of the message as well as i had no power steering and could not turn my wheel.i looked up on the internet what that message meant and saw that there have been recalls for the same issues on previous years of the same vehicle but that 2010 isn't covered under the recall.online it stated to turn off the vehicle and take the key out of the ignition and then try again.i did so and my car started and the message was gone and my power steering was back (as normal).every time i start my car the same message comes across.although, it's been about a week since this originally started and it is happening more frequently now and takes 4 or 5 times for me to shut my car off and restart it before it "goes back to normal".also, when i'm driving my car veers to the left pretty badly and i have to hold the steering wheel crooked to drive straight.there's also a knocking noise on the driver side that also was stated to be apart of the recall on previous years.my car started smelling like it was burning today and i'm wondering if it's part of the electrical/steering issues that my car is having.this is a huge safety issue.:(
I was waiting in a drive thru lane when all of a sudden my car made a chiming noise and flashed power steering, service esc and i had no power steering.turned the car off and restarted it and it was fine.this happened 4 other times after that, having to re-start my car to get power steering. Then when my car is comes to stop the steering wheel shakes and makes a terrible knocking noise. Very frustrating that models2006-2009 are recalled for exact same problem but not the 2010??? get with it gm this is a terrible hazard and clearly a problem that needs to be addressed!
Power steering randomly stops working while driving on the interstate and city streets, may begin to work a short time later or it may take days for it to work again. This started roughly one week ago.i have reviewed recalls and seen it only goes to 2009 models. I reviewed complaints on here and numerous 2010 owners are having the same issue.
When driving power steering shuts off
Had same issue as other days complaint.
Driving down the road steering wheel locked up lost power steering ran car into the median turn the car off works fine for about 3 weeks and did it again this time.
Driving at a speed of 35 mph and the steering just when off and was hard to steer. Check power steering service esc and the esc off indicator came on (the warning came at the same time, so that was worthless) and had to re-set by turning the car off. It happens again on 2/23/2015. When it did happen it was nearly impossible to steer. I see where gm has recalled up to the year 2009 but not beyond that. Whats up gm?? i have been a gm owner most of my life, but if gm does not own up to this problem i will not be buying another gm product. I purchased this car brand new. Estimated cost to repair this problem is between $800.00 to $1200.00 gm recall it now before someone get hurt or killed!!!!!
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the vehicle loss power steering assist in the driveway and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact took the vehicle to discount tire and wheel (1601 w pueblo blvd pueblo, co 81004) who diagnosed the failure that the power steering sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,446.

I was driving in the middle of traffic and all of a suddenly on the dash appeared power steering esc my steering wheel then locked up and my car cut off in the middle of traffic i was really scared and feared for my life because there were no lights so that the oncoming traffic could see me... I think that this issue really put me in a very dangerous situation
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the power steering and electronic stability control warning indicators illuminated.the power steering suddenly malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to turn.the dealer replaced the power steering motor, steering wheel position sensor, and steering column.the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 64,000.
I was driving my vehicle down a mountain when the power steering light came on and its also saying service enc and also the traction light came on, the steering was real hard for me to control going around the curves, as soon as i got down i pulled over to the side, turned off my engine, turned it back on again and the lights where off, as soon as i started driving it seemed like my steering on my left hand side would start to get rough and then the lights would pop back on and i would have trouble steering, i live on some pretty winding roads and a couple of the turns i thought i was gonna end up on the side, but i just could not keep stopping and starting it up all the time cause it was dark and not to much places to pull over.
I was coming off of an exit on the freeway and all of a sudden my steering wheel seized up, i could not turn. My car smashed into a cement barrier completely demobilized the car and the a frame completely bent. The air bags did not go off.
Driving into work the warning bells sounded on the car. The power steering was illuminated and after a few minutes the esc off and esc warning also came in.
While driving down highway service power steering service esc. Lost steering very hard to steer. Turned car off restarted then had no issues. Then several hours later had same issue turned car off and was able to make it home.
Sudden loss of electric power steering (eps) assist that could occur at any time while driving. There is no warning, and happens frequently even after restarting the vehicle. The errors that present on the dash are 'power steering' 'service esc' and 'esc off' after power steering is lost.
Power steering light keeps turning on and off. Took car to dealer and its going to cost $1200 for repair for new steering column and module. Gm has same recalls on other models but not the g6 that has same issues.i have an extended warranty with advantage that gm sold me and they wont cover the steering column. I think gm needs to take care of this.
Power steering has gone out several times in my vehicle over the course of a month. I turn off the car and turn it back on and that usually fixes it but only temporarly.
Power steering goes out intermittently while driving. I was on the highway and it went out. I had to stop and turn the car off, then it came back on. There was a recall for the same issue for earlier years of the g6. My mechanic said it's the same issue but no recall. I can't pay out of pocket to fix this issue and it's a huge safety concern.
About a month ago i started having issues when i would start my car the power steering, service esc messages would come on and i would have no power steering, however restarting my car usually fixed the problem, the last two weeks i have noticed it getting worse and there is now a shake in my steering wheel and now this is happening while i am driving. I was doing 60 mph on a highway today and lost all power steering. I have looked this up and all other year g6 have a recall from this issue but the 2010 does not, and it seems alot of people are having the same issue, this is going to cost me around 700 to get repaired
I was driving to work at 60 mph when i got a "power steering" message on the message center.i noticed that my power steering was no longer working.i pulled over, turned my car off and when i restarted it i had power steering again.the next day, the same thing happened while driving down the road at 60 mph.two weeks later, my husband was driving my car and attempting to turn a corner when the power steering went out.i understand that this issue was a recall in 2009 but in 2010 it became a safety bulletin.why?it will cost me over $600 to fix this issue that should be covered under a recall notice.
Waiting at a stop light to turn left, the light turned green, let of gas and could not turn wheel of vehicle as usual. Dashboard lit up with traction control light, and car gave a power steering failure error message. I was unable to turn theuse extreme of force. Once i forced the car to make a wide left and had maneuvered the car to a safe location, i then turned the ignition off and then back on and warning was gone and steering regained normal function.
While in motion backing out of my sisters driveway i was trying to turn the wheel to have the car go in the direction i was going in on the highway an the steering wheel would not turn either way at all then the power steering warning came on the screen on the dash. I tried to pull forward back into the driveway out of traffic and it still would not turn either way. There are recalls on 2010 pontiac g6 for the same exact thing but not my vin number and i don't understand why not all 2010 my car was new when i got it an it still has original parts on it so i'm not understanding the recall
The problem start back in june 2013 when my 2010 pontiac g6 started flashing a trouble code in the dic message screen. The problem first started as an annoying issue the code would say check power steering service esc and the esc off indicator would light up this would happen on startup and for months all i would do is turn the key off and restart the car and it went away and the car worked fine. This would pop up sporadically sometimes multiple weeks without out a problem. Then back in november 2013 the problem remained exactly the same but it would not reset unless i removed the key from the ignition then reinsert the key and it would start and the car would again work fine. However, in december 2013 as i was traveling 70mph down the interstate radio cranked up and did not hear the alert of the trouble code (which never happened while driving only when starting) i went to pass a car and my car did not respond to the steering. I immediately grabbed the wheel with both hands and with everything i had i steered the car and got pulled over to safety on the side off the road. I was happy this didn't happen just 3 miles further down the road as i would have had to negotiate a set of curves that i'm almost certain would have required more steering wheel rotation and most likely would have resulted in an accident. The car has been sitting in storage since as i try to determine what to do with it. I went to two local gm/pontiac dealers and was told the issue is a common one on earlier model g6s and there is a gm recall/service bulletin on earlier models but not the 2010. They went as far as to explain it was the same equipment used on the 2010 model but did not have a recall/service bulleting on the 2010.
When i start the car, i get a power steering failure and cannot move the sheering wheel.i have to shut it off to get it working and has happened about 8 times.today the car was on and was going to park my car, moving slowly and the power steering cut off.i had to restart my vehicle to get the power steering to work again.the signal for a power steering power comes up on the dash board.why was there a recall of this until 2009.when many 2010 g6 are having the same problem.i am scared if this happens at a high speed.
Repeated loss of power steering, displaying "service esc" message on dash while vehicle was in motion, once on a high speed road. Over the past 2 years i've experienced this problem with this vehicle, several times with no help at getting to the bottom of it.
I was getting ready to drive one morning. I started up my car and put it on drive so as i started driving out the parking lot my power steering locked up and on the dash board it said "power steering unserviceable". It was hard to steer so i put it on park, popped the hood open and looked underneath the hood. Then i remembered i have a electronic power steering so i turned my car off and on and everything went back to normal. Then i drove to the dealership and they told me that it reset itself and there's nothing to diagnose. So i did some research and found out that there was recalls for other models for the same problems. I was browsing the web, looking at articles and what are the odds of people with the same car same year with about the same mileage having the same problem. This is definitely not safe and not safe to sell if ever the problem comes back.
Has happened multiple times past two weeks. Issue typically occurs at starting of car, a couple of times while driving down highway: a chime is heard, the dashboard displays power steering, the esc off indicator comes on, and power steering is lost. Turning off car and restarting can reset and power steering works. When power steering is working, the steering wheel shakes while at a stop, can sometimes be felt when driving, i've checked the internet and have found this is a common problem with g6's. In fact, many gm models, although the pontiac 2010 model year is not included. It's obvious this problem is the same problem and 2010 g6's need to be included. I'm setting up an appointment with my local dealership asap.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving approximately 75 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering and esc warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was notified that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. The vin was unavailable.
As i was reversing for work my wheel got stiff and wouldn't allow me to turn power steering came on the message display board.6 months later as i was onmy way to fill my tank & tryingto turn left into the gas store my power steering came on in message display board. I was going below 35 prior to arriving.
Power steering has quit working
I just found out the 'steering wheel torque impact sensor' is defective and the whole steering wheel column has to be replaced. When i start my car i get 3 errors because of this one sensor, "power steering. Service esc, and esc off." i am able to turn my car on and off until the electric signal sends to the eps system so i am able to drive until the car is turned back off. Because the sensor does not work correctly, it doesn't send message to the electronic power steering motor and causes the power steering not to work. While driving and when in park the steering wheel jerks back and forth by its self and the jerking continues to get worse. I have not got into a car accident yet and plan on putting it in the shop tomorrow, but this seems to be a problem numerous owners are having. Im sure if i would have let it go a few more days, the power steering would have cut off while driving, or the car would have jerked so badly it would have caused a crash. This is a very dangerous defect.
While driving the car down the street the power steering/power assist fails and the car is impossible to control. When going around a curve the car could exit the roadway. Stopping, turning off the car and turning it back will rectify the problem temporarily.
While driving the power steering light flashed and esc light comes on and loose all power steering. Very hard to steer to get pulled over . Shut the car off and works for a bit , then flashes again and loose it again .thank goodness im a strong guy and was able to muscled it to a safe spot. There are recalls for previous years for the exact same problem but not 2010 ... Why???
When starting vehicle,a warning message shows and the dic saying power steering, service esc, with traction control symbol off. Power steering is then not functional until key is switch off and the vehicle restarted. This has occurred 6 times at random. There's are recalls for earlier models with the same problem and same parts and needs to be expanded to all models built with these defective parts. This has not happened while driving but from all of the other complaints it is only a matter of time before it does and is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured because of it.
Takata recall i am having problems with my wiring i've a shortness in it my steering wheel column is messing up. The power steering light keeps coming on it happen while i was driving down the highway on the e-way. I was going into a sharp turn and near had a accident on the e-way. The vechile was in motion while i was driving it
Per my mechanic he suggested that i contact pontiac to inquiry about the sway link bar on the right front passenger side that he has been replacing the last 3 months on these cars including my car this weekend. They suggest you replace both side but i was unable to do the other side due to money issues. I just find it strange that this problem is not being address and why there is a problem with this in these cars.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while making a left turn, the steering wheel would vibrate and the power steering system malfunctioned. The contact stated that the steering wheel would vibrate while changing lanes and when driving at various speeds. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing.the test results determined that there was a defective power steering motor, which needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There were no recalls for the vehicle.the failure mileage was 94,374.
I own a 2010 pontiac g6 that within the last several months incurred a power steering failure. Recall research shows that on march 2014 the nhtsa required gm to issue a recall for this exact problem, however, it only covered the g6 models up to the year 2009. The service advisor at the mechanic shop acknowledged that the "problem" was very similar to the steering problem for earlier models that are subject to the recall. However, since the 2010 model year was not included in the nhtsa recall, the cost to repair the problem falls to the consumer and is estimated to be in the $2,200 to $4,000 range. This is clearly a safety issue and mirrors the same characteristic's as earlier models included in the recall. I have contacted gm regarding this matter and have been assured that a local customer service representative will be contacting me within 48 hours. While i appreciate gm's willingness to "consider" the matter, i urge the nhtsa to re-visit the model years subject to the recall. The consumer should not be burdened with the cost of repairing what is obviously a design defect. Further and more importantly is safety for the passengers and other drivers on the road.i hope that the nhtsa will investigate this matter accordingly and amend the power steering recall to include 2010 models. Thank you.
Electric power steering unit went out and my steering is in manual mode all the time
Check engine light went on and the steering locked up and was unable to turn right at a light.forcefully turning the wheel with great effort i managed to make my way into a grocery store parking lot took a deep breath and turned the car off.waited several minutes took the key out of the ignition and started the car again the steering was back and i continued on to work reluctantly since i am unsure when and if this is going to happen again.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving approximately 35 mph and attempting to make a turn, the steering wheel lost power without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle off the road and parked. The contact later called the dealer and was informed to bring in the vehicle for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not included in a recall and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Driving vehicle to work this date, 4:45 am.11/22/2019. Power steering went out. No warning. Display then showed 'power steering esc'. Road/weather conditions: us hwy 68, 6miles east perryville, ky. Extremely curvy 2 lane country road. Dark, moderate rainfall making driving conditions dangerous.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed without warning and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact shut off the engine and once restarted, the power steering assist resumed normal function. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed a diagnostic and located the failure at the steering module and column. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 92,000.
When i start my car it states, "power steering service esc" and my traction control symbol is on on my dash board.it started off only doing this when i started my car and now it has started to do it more often and won't turn off.it happens when i'm driving and is a huge safety concern because i'm unable to turn my wheel/turn my car when i am driving when this happens and i can't always pull off right away because it happens at all different areas/places. It has happened on the highway, on busy roads while trying to turn through oncoming traffic, in stationary, etc.
While driving my steering wheel wouldn't turn, on the dash it said power steering check evc. I could move the wheel at all, and almost wrecked my car.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving at low speeds, the power steering failed. The contact stated that there was no warning prior to the failure. The power steering warning indicator illuminated when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 203,000.
My vehicles power steering and traction control struts off at random even after replacing the power steering unit this has been ongoing for a while and i cant seem to get it fixed. It typically happens while in idle or first or second gear and requires me to pull over and restart the car. Its a huge safety hazard and i am locating a lot of the same complaints from other g6 owners and a recall back in 2014 but i never decided a letter and i got my car in 2013.
When starting the car, a warning will appear in the driver information display stating a power steering failure. It also states to service esc. When attempting to drive, the steering wheel becomes impossible to turn (since the power steering is not working) and is very dangerous around many turns, especially in roundabouts. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably as well. This problem seems to be very similar to the recall that was declared with the 2006-2009 pontiac g6's.
A recall repair was done late 2016 on electric power assit steering problem has returned!!!!!!!! vibration in steering wheel..and intermittently esc power steering loss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... This vehicle is unpredictable and unsafe to operate with this issue!!!!!!!!.. Phone# [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Lost power steering again this date. Lost control, vehicle left roadway into shallow ditch line. Was able to regain control and reenter back onto highway crossing centerline against oncoming traffic. Had replaced steering component three days prior. Nhtsa ref # 11281715.
My complaint is about a recent issue i had with my vehicle.upon starting the vehicle the esc indicator came on and locked the steering wheel in place.this does not happen each time the vehicle was started, but periodically.if the car did start and no light would appear, the steering wheel would shake.the shaking was very very noticeable.we had taken it into our mechanic to have it looked at.when he first started the vehicle the same issue occurred for him that the esc light had come on and the steering wheel locked in place.he turned the vehicle off and then back on, this time he experienced the shaking steering wheel.before he would take a further look at it, he looked up the issue on the internet; he found there a recall from gm on the esc sensor and asked us to take it to our dealer.upon taking it to the dealer that we were told that even though our vehicle was the same year and make it was not part of the recall.after doing some research on the internet, i find that our vehicle was doing the same thing as the other complaints.we were told our vin is not part of the recall.i just have a hard time understanding why the same make and model and same issue is not covered. I have a bigger concern over the safely of us driving this vehicle as well as others with the same vehicle if the steering would go out while driving.
I was driving down the road at 60 mph and got a power steering warning.i lost power steering completely.i pulled over, shut off the car and upon restarting had power steering again.the next day, same thing happened.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the steering system warning indicator illuminated. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. When the engine was turned off and restarted, the vehicle operated normally. The contact was able to drive the vehicle shortly until the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the issue. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering) as a possible cause of the failure. The vin was not provided. The failure mileage was 118,000.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While the vehicle was at a stop light, the message 'power steering esc' suddenly illuminated before the power steering failed. As a result, the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.
The contact own a 2010 pontiac g6.the contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel suddenly malfunctioned.the contact maneuvered to the shoulder and shut off the engine. Once the vehicle was restarted, the steering assist functioned properly.the failure was recurring over a three week period.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who indicated that the power steering failed and would need replacing.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 93,000.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed and became hard to turn while driving 70 mph. The contact was able to turn the steering wheel with force and coasted safely out of traffic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Eps service power steering. Power steering suddenly stops working and after turn off car and restart or warms up it will functiin again. I was placed in a dangerous situation and could have been injured with this problem.recalls on 2009 and below however there are multiple reviews reporting 2010
Power steering fails
I recieved an error message on my dash power steering, service esc, and esc off while pulling out of my driveway.i drove a few blocks and could not longer control my steering - this is a serious safety hazard reported by many, many g5, g6 and g8 owners with model years between 2005 and 2010 in particular. Why certain models/years have been recalled and not all of them is beyond me. It took everything i had to get back to my home and get the car parked safely.
The steering is making a noise like gears slipping over riding one another, and catches in turns, the power steering light is on,the speedometer is not working and you have to run it to a high rpm to shift out from one gear to another, and it shifts hard when it does.
The power steering mode/ lightis on and will not go off or allow steering. It's not drivable and is extremely dangerous.before it went completely out it would lose steering going up highway at different times and speeds, but once u cut off ignition and restart it would be ok for another few miles.
I own a 2010 pontiac g6 with roughly 97,000 miles on it, today while driving it incurred power steering failure. I was driving in a residential community after dropping my youngest off at the sitters and went to pull out on to a busy road when it failed. Recall research shows that on march 2014 the nhtsa required gm to issue a recall for this exact problem, however, it only covered the g6 models up to the year 2009. The service adviser at the dealership acknowledged that the "problem" was very similar to the steering problem for the earlier models that are subject to the recall. However, since the 2010 model was not included in the nhtsa recall, the cost to repair this problem seems to fall on the consumer and it is estimated to be in the $1800 to $2000 range, something i really cannot afford. This is clearly a safety issue especially since i had my children in the car with me and has similar characteristics as the earlier models included in the recall. Please review this model years subject to the recall. The consumer should not be burdened with the cost of repairing what is obviously a design defeat. Further and more importantly is safety for the passengers and other drivers on the road. Thank you for taking the time to review this matter and hopefully amend the power steering recall to include the 2010 models.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the power steering assist failed without warning as the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact shut off the engine and once restarted, the power steering assist continued to malfunction. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 79,000.
As i was driving today with no prior dash warning my power steering completely locked up at a intersection almost causing an accident. I was able to pull over, turn off the engine and restart the car and made it home but it did lock up again. Very dangerous with no warning. I did see that this was recalled on models earlier than 2010.the vehicle was in motion at the time on a city stree coming to a intersection.
Going down highway about 60 mph. Steering locks up, traction control went off.barely made it over to emergency lane.. I see i'm not the only one with this problem. Also, recall up to 2009 g6 but not my 2010 pontiac g6. This issue is very dangerous and needs to be address.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the power steering warning light illuminated as the steering wheel became difficult to turn. In addition, the contact stated that the passenger air bag indicator would illuminate when there was no passenger on the seat. The contact also stated that the drivers side headlights had to be replaced several times due to a wire melt down. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the steering column. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was advised that a code needed to be reset. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000.
I was driving my car and the esc light kept coming on (although i was not going slow or turning in a manner that would typically trigger it).i stop to get gas, and i turn off my car.i turn it back on after gas and the service esc light comes on as well as an esc off light.i begin to try driving and it appears that my power steering has completely failed.this has never happened to me before.i go online and see there was a recall for this issue for pontiac g6 models up to 2009 (nhtsa campaign id number 14v153000).i have a 2010.upon searching further, i found there are many others who have had the same issues with their 2010 but were not able to get the car fixed without a substantial cost to the consumer because the 2010 model was not covered in the recall.i am writing because it appears as though we are affected by the same issue and should be included in the recall.
Recall fixed this is 3rd time . I am disabled and this is terrible.and my brake lights and headlights burn out or dont work right after replacement
While on her way home from picking my son up from school my wife was driving at approximately 35 mph when she heard a "dinging" noise from the dashboard. 3 indications came up on the led display,"power steering, service esc, and esc off." the power steering system then shut off completely almost causing her to lose control of the car. This is a serious safety hazard reported by many, many g5, g6 and g8 owners with model years between 2005 and 2010 in particular. Why certain models/years have been recalled and not all of them is beyond me. They all use pretty much the same eps.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that the steering wheel locked while driving 35 mph. When the failure occurred the contact lost control of the vehicle, proceeded through the intersection and crashed into a curb. The steering wheel regained normal function after the vehicle was restarted.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing who confirmed the failure was in the steering column power assist. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 51,000.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving various speeds, the power steering seized intermittently without warning. When the vehicle was restarted, the power steering resumed normal operation. The contact took the vehicle to hobson chevrolet buick gmc (655 southview dr, in-37, martinsville, in 46151) where it was diagnosed that the power steering module and steering sensor were defective. The manufacturer was notified and offered the contact a $300 credit towards the repair. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
I was driving around 55 mph when i heard a dinging noise and lost power steering.power steering, service esc, esc off were the messages that displayed.got my car home, turned it off and back on.when i turned it back on the power steering had returned.i thought it was a one-time occurrence but it happens every time i drive the car for more than 10 minutes.called gm and they said it needed to have a diagnostic test before they would comment. Service rep i talked to claimed that it was unlikely it was related to the recall in earlier g6 models... Clearly just a coincidence! car is currently at dealership for diagnostic test.
Thank you
Esc is saying off and the steering wheel has become hard to turn with.
For about 2 months now the power steering message has been showing up on the dic and the vehicles steering wheel has had a bad shake to it while driving at just about all speeds. At least once or twice a day upon starting the vehicle there is no power steering and i have to turn the car off and restart the vehicle to regain power steering. It has also lost power steering while driving 3 times now in the past 2 weeks which leads me to believe it is getting worse and is a very serious safety issue. Manufacturer recall for steering and transmission
When turning left onto street, mid turn without any warning my wheel semi hardened/lock. After regaining control of my vehicle to park. I noticed my power steering esc indicator on my dash was showing plus the offroad and a smell of burning.this was a scary moment due to the fact that i felt not in control of my vehicle and the high possibility of a accident. This should be a manufactured priority to notify and defects especially involving safety.
The power steering goes out, just like as described in the latest recall of gm's, which added to last years models.my year make is not included in this recall as of yet. I just got this item repaired at a dealer for over $500 dollars.what will it take to recall my 2010 for the exact same steering issue.i will demand to get reimburse for the cost of my repairs when and if it gets recalled, i hope there's many more cars with this same problem to make an extended mass recall, before for potential of more accidents is inevitable.
Air bag light says service air bag headlight gets so hot it melts working wiper clip breaks off motor failing to activate wiper bladessteering wheel wobbles and power steering fails in city and on highway
Midway into a right hand turn, the electric power steering assist failed resulting in vehicle drifting into adjacent lane until driver regained control. This was a low-speed event with no collision involved as traffic in on-coming lane was not present at the time.the electric power steering assist resumed normal operation after vehicle was turned off and re-started. Presumably this event is likely to re-occur until defective parts are replaced.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel started to vibrate and seized with the illumination of the warning light. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed that the power steering assist unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
Driving to town and the car starts to"ding" at me. I look down and it says "power steering" and "service esc" and then i notice that there is no longer any power steering.
Currently on roadtrip with my family from florida back home to indiana. In the last 800 miles, i pulled into a gas station and cut off my car when i cut it back on "power steering" flashed across the led and the steering wheel locked up. Cutting car off and on again unlocked the steering wheel. Next i'm driving down the highway going 70 miles per hour the steering wheel is shaking and loose turning left. When we are idle the steering wheel twitches back and forth and rattles and it's hard to turn while parked. We are currently breaking at a hotel with 800+ miles left until we're home, kind of skeptical about it but we have no other way home. Wish me and my family luck on the rest of our journey
Takata recall my steering wheel will lock up at random while driving at 35-70 mph it will display 'service esc' power steering off. I will have to stop my car turn it off and on an couple time until i'm able to turn my wheel. When the power steering is working the steering wheel will jerk and twitch until again randomly lock up again with the warnings. When driving at high speeds this is extremely dangerous due to it locking up at will. I have read many complaints from people for this same issue. There have been recalls for this same issue on years 2006-2009 it says it involves the steering column needing to be replaced. This is a very pricy problem to get fixed and it's a manufacture problem due to the volume of people effected and prior years already recalled for the same problem. Someone will get hurt for this and i think it needs to be investigated
When driving feels like power steering has gone out and unable to steer correctly.
I have issues with the steering and power steering as in the recalls thru 2009 models. It will go out. Sometimes you can turn the car off and on and it will work again for a minute. I own a 2010 pontiac g6 that within the last week incurred a power steering failure. Recall research shows that on march 2014 the nhtsa required gm to issue a recall for this exact problem, however, it only covered the g6 models up to the year 2009. The service advisor at the dealership acknowledged that the "problem" was very similar to the steering problem for earlier models that are subject to the recall. However, since the 2010 model year was not included in the nhtsa recall, the cost to repair the problem falls to the consumer and is estimated to be in the $1,800 to $2,000 range. Further and more importantly is safety for the passengers and other drivers on the road. I hope that the nhtsa will investigate this matter accordingly and amend the power steering recall to include 2010 models. Thank you.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contacted stated that while driving 70 mph, the power steering warning light illuminated as the power steering assist failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. No repairs were performed to the vehicle. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure was 90,000 and the current mileage was 109,000.
Will driving the car the power steering went out. The esc light came on and now i have no power steering.why is this car not on the recall list for the problem that effects other years.
While i was driving the vehicle the power steering shut off and i was unable to turn the wheel on the freeway.this seems to be a common issue and extremely dangerous.
I have an issue with the power steering on this vehicle. I came to find out that this vehicle has electrical power steering. I was driving on a residential road when the steering wheel locked up on me. It took all the strength i had to pull over to side of road which is very dangerous and call for assistance. I was told to restart vehicle which fixed this issue for that day then happened again on another this is a major problem that needs to be addressed immediate response would be greatly appreciated.
The power steering randomly stops working. I have to then pull over and restart the car for it to start working again. This is very dangerous.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While accelerating from a stop, the service power steering eps warning indicator illuminated and the contact was unable to turn the steering wheel left or right. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the electric power steering assist sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 14v153000 (steering). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000. Updated 02/21/17*lj
Prior years have recalls for this same issue happening,
When i start my car i get 3 errors"power steering. Service esc, and esc off." i am able to turn my car on and off until the electric signal sends to the eps system so i am able to drive until the car is turned back off. Because the sensor does not work correctly, it doesnt send message to the electronic power steering motor and causes the power steering not to work. This appears to be the same issue as nhtsa id 10499437 and 10479698.i understand there was an existing recall with this same problem that should be expanded to include the 2010 pontiac g6 and not just the g5.
I have a 2010 pontiac g6. A few weeks ago i was driving thru town and stopped for a red light. As soon as i stopped the steering wheel started to shake. Then as i proceed thru the light all power steering stopped and message displayed "power steering fault". If i shut the car off with the wheel straight and restart, i will have power steering for a few miles. I went to the dealership about this issue and they said my car is not affected with this recall. Why?!?all other models are having the same problems.
Power steering suddenly went out without warning causing an accident where i had to have body work repaired.after picking up from insurance, i dropped it off at sewell gmc dallas to take care of recalls.at that time they said the power steering is in the recall and will be fixed.once i was called to pick up, they said it was not covered.every pontiac g6 has a recall on loss of power steering except mine.i had a wreck because of sudden loss of steering ability.the 2010 model should be included.so many other issues too including low beam harness burning.mine does that too...no recall.mainly frustrated that i was told power steering was covered only to find out not.
Whether it's moving or standing still the steering wheel will shake like crazy and usually the 'power steering' light will come on and the only way to turn it off is to turn off the car and turn it back on (sometimes several times).
Whilst driving around 68mph attempting to switch lanes from left to right steering wheel locked propelling vehicle to spin out of control causing driver to strike a concrete barrier
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g-6. While traveling 35 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle began to pull to the right abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 58,303.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving 35 mph, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of steering function on several occasions. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 195,027.
As my wife and our 11 year old son was in town the pontiac g6 lost steering. My wife pulled off of the road and waited for me to come and get them and drive the car back home. During the ride the power steering never returned.
Power steering stopped working - on and off. 1st instance driving, 2nd when parked.
Power steeringlocks up while driving steering wheel shakes if you turn it off then on it does the same thing
Power steering recall!!! i will be driving down the road and my power steering will shut off! i can not steer the vehicle, the steering wheel shakes and my car makes a horrible noise. I also receive a warning signal on my dashboard telling me my power steering needs serviced as well as service esc!i have friends with older models and their cars were recalled however starting with my vehicle year (2010) and up they do not have a recall in place! this happens daily! someone is going to get into an accident! what if i went around a curve and my power steering shut off? gm refuses to fix it for free as no "recall" was put into place for this part (just 2010 tho!!!) please put a recall out for this part!
On december 26th, 2016 i was driving my 2010 pontiac g6 down the highway when i felt a strong jerk and the car was nearly impossible to steer. The car jerked into the adjacent lane almost hitting a car who brake to avoid me. I parked the car on the side of the road turned it off. I turned the car back on and the power steering seemed to be fine. This is a very dangerous issues and now i am unable to drive my car because of safety issue.
The power steering just failed on me with no warning while i was driving on a highway almost causing a crash. The dash says service esc.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the power steering system malfunctioned and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The contact mentioned that the power steering warning light illuminated. The contact shut off the engine and once restarted, the power steering assist resumed normal function. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 115,000.
Steering wheel shakes at idle. Eventually led to complete loss of power steering.
While driving on hwy 54 the power steering goes out displaying a service esc and power steering code.the car cant not be steered at that speed (55mph) around curves, there is a recall up to 2009 for this problem.why not the 2010?obviously several owners are having problems.it went out on a curve on me yesterday and couldn't steer the car.almost killed my son and i.we missed an oncoming truck by inches and if he would not of swerved around us we would be dead.this is very expensive to fix and i dont have the $$.i thought i was buying a reliable vehicle with my 2010 pontiac g6.guess i was wrong.there are hundreds of people that have this issue with the g6.please investigate as to why it isn't.this issue is going to kill someone.we put our money into these vehicles thinking its reliable.why hasn't gm been held responsible for this?is it going to take death of innocent people to get a recall on it??
The contact owns 2010 pontiac g6.the contact stated that the power steering assist failed as the power steering warning light illuminated.the steering wheel was very hard to turn.the failure occurred whenever the vehicle was being driven or parked.the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who did not diagnose the vehicle.the contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system) however, the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the defect.the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
Esc off and service esc came on as soon as vehicle steering locked up then wouldn't turn at all when you try to turn it it jerked back to the other side. Burnt nasty smell from inside and outside car. Now car won't even start or nothing
After starting the car , the esc lights the power steering and the gauges stop working including the gas gauge and odometer. The car becomes impossible to steer. It happens when sitting, driving. On the highway. On any random time it decides
Power steering drops out.
While driving along the highway the service lights starting going off saying power steering service esc and i no longer has power steering. I've noticed that upon starting the car sometimes i have power steering and sometimes i don't.
Going down road esc warning and power steeringwarning. Power steering went. Will not reset
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. While driving various speeds, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the power steering and electronic stability control warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,000.
I lose power steering from time to time.i may have it when i start the car and then lose it going down the road.i may not have it when i start the car and then it comes back.
Over the last couple years my vehicle would indicate 'power steering' service esb''traction' and then the indicator would go off as oddly as it came on. I took it into dealership twice for check and they could not find any issue or recall and said to just keep driving.... Now over the last two months i cannot drive without my power steering actually locking up, very difficult to navigate and the steering wheel rocks side to side when idle. I was able to remedy for about a week with simply turning the car off and back on but this no longer works and the power steering will now lock up while i am driving.
On november 2nd 2013 the power steering light came on andthe steering wheel locked within a few minutes. I was on the interstate heading to work when this occurred and i was not able to change lanes but was forced the left nearly hitting the cement barrier. I turned the car off so that it would reset but it only worked for about fifteen minutes then it did it again. I travel 62 miles one way to work and thank god i did not bounce off the cement barrier and cause a major accident or fatality. When i got to work i stop by a local store to purchase power steering fluid but only to find out that i could not locate the reservoir on our 2010 pontiac g6. After doing research i have found out that there is no recall from gm, but that there are similar problems with the 2005 and 2006 models. I would like to add the 2010 model as well. I would like to see a recall for this issue on all pontiac g6 models. I plan to take this matter up the ceo of gm and if not resolved there will hire a lawyerto take to the next level before myself or a family member become a fatality number for the state of texas.
The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn as the traction control and the power steering warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and was able to function as normal. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.
Driver side front door does not open, from inside or outside, when unlocked and when car is stationary.
Without any warning the front passenger door wouldn't open causing me to climb over console to get out on driver side.if there was an accident or a fire in the vehicle the time it took to climb over the console could have been a life or death situation.when brought to the dealer for an appointment 3 days later that they couldn't get it open either for the longest time and was told it was caused by a broken door latch. This is a safety issue and should be reason enough for a manufacturers recall.this was a very expensive part to have repaired for a cost of $463.31 absolutely disgusting!
The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic due to a noise emerging from the front suspension. The mechanic determined that the hub andbearing assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
Shift cable will not allow vehicle to be placed in park. Indicator does not indicate correct gear. Vehicle will roll after shift lever is put in park. Other g6s with 4 speed auto have been recalled, but mine has 6 speed auto.
I went to get out of my car and the door handle wouldn't let me out(drivers side). My car shows its unlocked, yet it will not open the door. Finally, the door opened up. But again, after grocery shopping, my car failed to let me in!! i was stranded at walmart for a good 20 minutes before the door decided to start working again! this is a serious malfunction with gm cars! i looked up my problem, and it seems to be a reoccuring thing with gm. Why are they not recalling this?!i do not have a key fob, and the only way to unlock my car is from the drivers side, which is the side that will not open! i have to keep my doors unlocked every where i go as of now bc of this stupid malfunction problem! how embarrassing to be 24 and have to climb over from your passenger seat to drive your car. This problem should be resolved by gm!
Takata recall esc and traction lights wont go off weather driving or stationary. Left head light keeps blowing out, i've seen this on several cars just like mine
The steering is making a noise like gears slipping over riding one another, and catches in turns, the power steering light is on,the speedometer is not working and you have to run it to a high rpm to shift out from one gear to another, and it shifts hard when it does.

The contact owns a 2010 pontiac g6. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph with the cruise control activated, the vehicle unexpectedly increased acceleration to 60 mph. The failure recurred three times without the cruise control in activation. The vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.

Leaking sunroof/moonroof issue: there is a leak in the front seat near the interior light switch and sunroof button area. I have had this issue looked at several times at several dealerships. They state you must pay a bogus diagnostic test fee only to tell you there is a back up in the sunroof runoff drain area that causes the leak. Stated they needed to clean the drains. After they "clean/ unclog the drains, the next rainy day comes and the leak is back. I have viewed several different websites searching for a resolution to this issue as this leak is dropping water on the interior console where the drive, reverse, park area is. This will eventually cause a mechanical issue further in the future.
