Air bag light kept coming on, was advised this would have to be replaced. I feel this should be something that is within manufacture standards. The car has never been in an accident, thus why do i have to spend 542.00 to have a drivers side air bag replaced?

My son was the passenger in a head on collision with airbag deployment and his eyeball was severed by the airbag. My son received his prosthetic eye for his 18th birthday.

My son was in a car accident and his airbags didn't deploy.

While driving 55 mph and when trying to avoid a deer in the roadvehicle rolled over. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy, and consumer sustained neck and hand injuries.

Consumer states that when hit at 10mph passenger side air bags did not deploy.* nlm

Air bag light stays on in 2001 pontiac bonneville.dealer diagnostics determines defective clock switch needed to be replaced.air bags will not deploy in an accident without replacement of the part.car is 4,800 miles over warranty and dealer expects us to pay for repair.pontiac customer service offered 50% reimbursement.your policy states safety-related defects must be fixed by manufacturer at no cost to the owner.please advise.

I have had numerous problems, airbag sensor front, steering noise 4th time, and catalytic converter noisy.

I own a 2001 pontiac bonneville sle which i purchased new.the car has 75,796 miles on it as of today.this car has never been involved in an accident.the air bag warning light has been coming on lately.i took the car to my local dealer and after paying $84.19 for a test to be run on the system they told me the following.the clockspring on the driver's side needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $257.48 plus tax.if this did not turn off the sensor then the air bag itself would have to be replaced at an additional estimated cost of $887.04.he also told me that when the sensor light was on the air bag would not deploy.i feel that parts as significant as these sensors should have unlimited warranty, and more information relayed to the consumer.imagine the number of cars on the road today with that light on who are unaware that the air bag is inoperative.

Air bag light came on.dealer indicated that the air bag module must be replaced at a cost of $1200.the car was bought new by me and now has 84,000 miles on it.this module was already replaced under warrenty at 20,000 miles in july, 2001.dealer indicates that air bag will not work without it being replaced.pontaic customer service was called and they basically said we are sorry but you have exhaused the warrenty period on this item.when i asked if i should expect to replace this every 2 years, they said it should not fail in the future but did not offer to replace item.since this is a safety item that has been replaced twice now, i am concerned as to thre air bag system reliability.

Consumer states that the vehicle was involved in a t-bone collision, upon impact neither side air bags depoyed. Condition causes injuries to the passenger. Manufacturer notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

I had left my lights on and battery went dead. Went to jump the vehicle and charge the battery. Cables connected correctly. When i went to start the vehicle, i heard a loud explosion noise like a back fire but saw a flame then smoke out of engine. The engine hood was closed since the battery is located under the back seat or this could have been fatal or a serious injury. The flame must have been extinguished by the fluids? when we opened the hood after a short period, we found that their was some type of explosion in the engine. The vehicle was stationary and in my driveway

Battery dead, charged the car, started it up...the engine caught fire(plenum).ins agent said it was the plenum and that it is a common problem with these vehicles.gm is lucky no one was hurt!!!!

We own a 2001 pontiac bonneville.it has had to have a new fan motor, new manifold.and in dec 2003 we had to replace the rack and pinion, in dec 2004 we had to replace the rack and pinion.and now it is making the same noise again.in reading on the internet i see that there are many complaints with pontiac over the rack and pinion issue.they need to make changes to correct this problem.

1)in march of 2004,i had to replace a front bearing on this vehicle,to register it. I then had the tires balanced, believing the shaking in the front end would stop,it hasn't.my next plan was to have the front end checked out.may 15th 2004 i started getting a knocking in the engine and set up an appointment to have it checked.the mechanic told me that there was a problem with the heads and that they may need to be redone. I spoke if some other items i wanted done: adjust sun roof, fix drivers window, why is there still a shaking in the front end on the highway and why am i getting water in the trunk? the mechanic expresseed that this vehicle "had been in an accident". The whole drivers side of the vehicle has been replaced. Which might explain why the sun-roof is out of alignment, the trunk leaks water, the front drivers barring had to be replaced and the engine is quite loose under the hood.this vehicle was obviously in an accident with the first owner, repaired and turned in at the end of the lease. Also, how many other vehicles made in this year had to have the heads worked on at 45000 miles,or was the mileage turned back for the return of the lease????

I had gone to a store, the car ran normal. I was on my way back when i met a man flashing his lights and waving his arms coming toward me. I stopped and he told me there was a fire under my motor. I got out and within 2 minutes the car was completely engulfed and totalled.

The contact owns a 2001 pontiac bonneville.the contact smelled something similar to that of an electrical fire coming from the vehicle.a leaking valve cover gasket was replaced and the contact realized that there was a recall on 3.8 v6 gm engines.at the time, nhtsa campaign id number 09v116000 only applied to pontiac grand prix's, not bonnevilles.the contact wants the manufacturer to pay for the repair cost since the failures were identical.she feels that it is a major safety issue.the current mileage was 83,000 and failure mileage was 81,821.updated 05/19/09updated 05/20/09.

Consumer believes that a cooling system leak has gone undetected since delivery of vehicle.

The intake cover is made of plastic, antifreeze and plastic do not make a good combination. This has caused leaking in the intake and cost me over $600 for repairs. The thing is the mechanic knew the problem as soon as we raised the hood because he had seen it so many times in this model. I believe this to be a manufacturer problem and something needs to be done about it.

Car lugs down intermittently at 30 mph and at 45 mph.verification of problem with dealer has been problematic as it does not occur all the time.on nov 13, 2002, the dealer replaced a valve assembly (part 24218255 -valve rem 4.265; part 10478146 - valve solenoid 4.265; part 24207957 - gasket kit 4.265; part 24219819 - valve assembly 4.265). *la

I have a document id #01-02-32-001a that states 2000-2002 pontiac bonneville has a clunk noise from front of steering wheel rotation (lubricate intermediate shaft).after months of getting a run-around duke pontiac in suffolk va finally diagnosed my problem and lubricated the shaft on 03/01/02.the noise stopped for about a year or so and has been getting worse.it now feels like the car has a safety issue because it is hard to control at low or higher speeds.i was advised by perry buick -pontiac 10/05/06 that the noise i'm hearing is from the intermediate shaft.i also experienced low fluid levels that was detected on 8-16-05 when i got an oil change from tune up plus.i then went to perry buick-pontiac and was charged $376.62 to replace upper intake manifold and the work order was noted that the coolant reservoir was empty.after investigating i found that there was a notice in 2003 that pertains to engine coolant leak at the upper intake manifold to throttle boby gasket.it states that the condition could result in low engine coolant level and higher engine temperature.i feel that general motors should replace the intermediate shaft because i still own the car and am having the same problem that i feel is a threat to my safety and to those who ride with me.i also feel that general motors should reimbursed me the $376.62 that i paid 8-18-05 to have the manifold replaced.i also had a fuel leak oct 5,20005 and am not sure if that was not related to the problem aforementioned.

Certified ltr reporting defective transmission performance ona 2001 bonnevile.

Our problems started with the transmission slipping at initial launch. A real suprise and safety concern when pulling into traffic. This would happen without warning.i dropped the transmission oil pan and revealed metal debris and gear teeth. Upon further investigation, i have learned that a (alleged) defective thrust bearing, supplied (1999) by gm's supplier, fails and destroys the 'sun/reaction gearset' and the debris contaminates the inside workings of this 4t65-e transmission.just showing the debris to the gm service manager, they offered to do a 50/50 split on repairs. I insisted on 100% since the transmission didn't even make it to the recommended 50k oil and filter change. With the fact of not getting a written estimate, but a verbal estimate of a max cost to me of $3500 for the repair, i had an independent rebuild the unit. There is a technical service bulletin #03-07-30-017 issued may 7, 2003, describing the dealer fix (rebuild) for this failure. This tsb covers this model trans that is used in 1999-2002 buick century, lesabre, park avenue, chevrolet monte carlo, venture, oldsmobile intrigue, silhouette, pontiac bonneville, grand prix, montana, 2000-2002 chevrolet impala, 2001-2002 pontiac aztek, 2002 buick rendezvous, all with the transaxle auto 4-speed, 4t65e(rpo mn3)there is a technical service bulletin written #03-07-30-017 issued may 7, 2003. It is also understood that the replacement thrust bearings are correctly made now, and for the 2004 model of this transmission, gm is using a special coating (balzer coating) on the 'sun/reaction gearset' to increase durability of the components

The contact owns a 2001 pontiac bonneville.while the engine was turned off and the contact was away from the vehicle, the occupant on the passenger side struck the gear shifter.the vehicle rolled three feet.the passenger was able to shift into park and the vehicle stopped.whenever the shifter moves out of gear, the vehicle will roll continuously.the failure occurs whether the engine is on or off.the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the failure and current mileages were 156,000.

Transmission does not shift properly when the engine is cold.when you press the accelerator, the engine rpm rise rapidly, but the car barely moves.as the car warms up, the transmission finally engages, very roughly, and shifts roughly until the car is warm.*la

Transmission abruptly failed after making a loud "bang" while driving at 70 mph on the interstate. This car had only 10,100 miles when this occurred. The transmission had to be replaced because the truss bearings broke apart causing the transmission to fail. The parts are available for inspection.

The shift solenoid and clutch solenoid got stuck on which caused the automatic transmission motor to burn out.this was marked by miimicking the neutral gear: the car would not move when accelerating either forward or reverse but the engine rpms would rise.the problem was intermittent at first, but was more noticeable in cold weather.after the vehicle warmed up, the transmission finally engagedsuddenly.the vehicle only has 37,650 miles on it and gm is giving me a hard time about replacing it because it is past the 36,000 mile warranty.however, they will guarantee a remanufactured transmission for 50,000 miles.

Transmission abruptly failed after making a loud "bang" while driving at 55 mph on the expressway.this car had only 24,000 miles when this occurred.the transmission had to be replaced because the trust bearings broke apart.

Consumer states while traveling at highway speed and without any indicationengine started slipping and jerking. Vehicle was serviced, technician noticed transmission needed to be replaced.first the transmission was reconditioned then the dealer replaced the shift solenoids.breaks squeaked and made a rubbing and moaning noise. The joint on the steering shaft was binding.the steering shaft was replaced..

The automatic transmission intermittently would not engage or tries to engage on initial take-off. Serious concern when pulling into traffic, let alone being stranded.transmission pan was dropped revealed metal shavings and gear teeth on the magnets and in the filter. The car has 48,400 miles on it and did not even make it to gm's recommended 50,000 mile fluid and filter change. Gm refuses to pay 100%for their failure of the 'sun gear/carrier assembly' that self destructs. This model transmission is a 4t65e, and is used in buick's, chevrolet's, oldsmobile's and pontiac's.gm has issued a service bulletin on this exact situation. Tsb #03-07-30-017 issued may 7, 2003.

While at an idle vehicle jerked forward when gas pedal was depressed. Also, the gear shifter would shift gears, but the vehicle wouldn't once the vehicle had came to a complete stop. The trust bearings broke apart and destroyed the transmission which caused the failure to occur.

The failure occurred without warning.while turning the key to start the engine, the car lurched forward.the vehicle was in park at the time.there was nothing in front of the vehicle so there was no collision.the car stopped and though the engine ran, the car would not move forward or reverse.the transmission input failed.the transmission was rebuilt by gm for a substantial fee.

The transmission failed at 46,600 and had to be replaced. *nlm

There is a problem in the transmition, when the car is in park and want to shift to reverse the car does not move and feels like it is in neutral position. This problem was more noticable in mornings when the weather is cold. I took it to the dealer and they said that there is nothing wrong with it. I think there is a lot wrong with it.

The front headrests (driver and passenger) do not stay in the forward position.this leaves a big gap between the back of the head and the headrest.in the event of a rear end collision, the head(s) would snap back and the headrest would not stop a neck injury.

Consumer feels that headrests in vehicle are too far back. In case of an accident, consumer'sneck would not be supported.

Drivers side heated seat malfunction; burned small hole in cloth of seat.

Steel brake lines have corroded to the point of failure. Vehicle will not stop.brake fluid leaks

I bought a new bonneville ssei last year and have had constant brake problems since the day i bought the car with the front end which included the steering and the brakes.i've had three steering sensors and one power steering box replaced and it is still clunking.i have had all four rotors cut, all four rotors replaced and two complete sets of brakes put on the car and i had my car inspected today and i was told i need another set of new brakes.all in less than 30,000 miles.if you look at the service record on this car i have had nothing but problems from the day i bought the car. The consumers pontiac 2001 bonneville failed 3 separate incidents to the same abs wheel hub assembly/senor.the consumer requested reimbursement.the right front speed sensor corroded harness and a shorted sensor, the left front speed sensor was not reading correctly, the left front speed sensor was excessive, when the cruise control was engaged, there would be a 4 mph variation in speed, the accelerator pedal would pivot and cause a squeaking noise and the abs light illuminate repeatedly. *sc

Abs and traction control light remain on 90% of the time i am driving.i have previously on two occasions had the left wheel bearing and hub assembly replaced at approximately $450.00.that is what the computer codes indicated.the first time the problem went away for a few months, but then it returned.the last time the problem went away for three hours.this disables abs and traction control systems from operating.it is probably a short circuit or brake sensor problem.there should be a pontiac, government-mandated recall to correct this safety matter.thank you.

I purchased this car used 1 year ago.at that time the dealer agreed to fix a shaking in the front end of the car when the brakes were applied.the rotors were replaced because they were warped.in the last week i have noticed that i am again getting that shaking in the front end of the car.at 35 miles per hour the steering wheel about jumps out of your hand when the brakes are applied at a reasonable pressure when slowing.if i were to have an emergency where fast braking were needed i do not know if i could hold the car on the road the shaking is that bad.i can't understand what is wrong and why the rotors are not holding up.can you help me.

Bad metal for rotors; no reason for this to have happened to the age or use of this vehicle.

The brake pedal travels too far when stopping, consumer states while sitting still with foot on the brake and applying pressure, the brake pedal slowly goes to the firewall, the vehicle brakes fine during normal driving, dealer advised consumer there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, consumer states the brakes work fine during normal driving.

I have a 2001 pontiac bonneville ssei.i have had this car in and out of the shop numerous times for the "check stability system" warning anda "clunking" noise in the left front area.it makes noise primarily in a turn or going over a bump.i have had the front left wheel bearing/assembly replaced as well.the last mechanic was puzzled and frustrated at the fact that he cannot figure our what is making the noise.i believe that this is a defect and gm should issue a recall and fix the problem for the consumer.gm wonders why their sales a slacking....maybe they should take better care of their customers.makes me think i should have bought a toyota.....

I have had numerous problems, airbag sensor front, steering noise 4th time, and catalytic converter noisy.

Steering shaft on my 2001 bonneville ssei making grinding and clunkingnoise. The sound is more noticeable at lower speeds below 20 mph. I have head from other bonneville owners this is an ongoing expensive problem. The design of the steering shaft seems to be flawed.

I have had repeated trouble with my 2001 bonneville,,have had 3 window motors go out,,,3 batteries go bad,,,air compressor go bak,,,moon roof worked on 3 times,,,3rd time,,,had 3 inches of water in floor,,,,,the problem now is the steering,,,you turn wheel,,it makes popping, clucking noise,,& feels like the front end is going to fall off.. The dealer said all it needed was grease,,which they did last year,,,now its doing it again,,& now they say its a steering shaft problem...i have been waiting for over 3 weeks for the part to come in,,,repeated calls,,& i am told they have no idea when the part will come in,,,they said drive it,,,it won't fall out????? they also said the reason for the delay is its a country wide back log???? what does that mead,,,,i am afraid to drive this car...& gmservice does not know either...

Car has a grinding feeling when turning wheel.most noticeable when making left turns.also has clunking sounds as driving along felt thru steering wheel.problem first noticedwhen vehicle had approx 5,000 mi. /at 19,000 miles problem still exists.dealer has in past 2 years replaced hoses, rack & pinion ass'y,pump "o" rings, and steering column shaft twice.all done before first 24 months with less than 18,000 miles on veh./pontiac cust satisfaction convinced me to let them repair car once more back in february 2003.problem still present. Just brought car back to dealer again on nov 2003. Problem still there.twice dealer claimed defect could not be duplicated, yet, after some complaining to do a road test with me in the car, the defect was confirmed by both technicians and the service dept general manager. Car is a lease. I offered twice in past to be allowed to terminate lease without any penalty fees and no further action on my part would be pursued (lemon law filing). Pontiac customer satisfaction dep't. And the dealer would not agree. Twice -after repairs -the steering wheel was put back incorrectly(crooked).currently steering wheel is still in crooked position and grinding/clunking still present.dealer offered on nov.19,2003 to let me walk away from lease if i start a new lease on a new 2003 car.(he" doesnthave any 2004 models to offer me "-he says) anyhow that offer is available to any consumer, there was no attempt by gm/pontiac/or dealer to satisfy me. There are several hundred complaints regarding steering defect from 2000-2002 that i have seen posted so far. I'm sure thousands exist .i believe pontiac should have a recall for this vehicle and this problem.they don't.

Tsb #100004353/steering column to instrument panel fastener removal: the consumer stated the problem recurred after the repair was made in march 2002. There was noise in the steering while driving and the vehicle would shimmy while driving at highway speed of 55-60 mph. The dealer refused to make another repair. Please provide any further information concerning this issue.

Recurring issue with the intermediate steering shaft on my 2001 bonneville:just wanted to provide my experience with the dealer where i bought my bonneville from with this issue. I have a 2001 bonnie and this issue showed up in 2005 at only 28000 miles ( repaired under extended warranty ). This issue appeared again at 41,500 miles. I had just purchased an extended warranty from the dealer and was told this problem is not covered under it.they said they would only remove the shaft and regrease it .i asked if this was a safety issue and was told that is was not. My question is why this is not a recall issue and am i in any danger driving this car?

The contact owns a 2001 pontiac bonneville. While driving 25 mph making a right turn, the steering wheel made an abnormal noise. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed, but not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000.

Dt*: the contact stated two years ago the steering began to make a grinding noise while driving.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined the intermediate shaft had failed which interfered with the steering.the mechanic replaced the shaft, and explained it was unusual for this part to fail.the manufacturer wascontacted, and a complaint was filed. Two years after the replacement the same part needed to be replaced again. Updated 05/30/2006.

This would be at no cost to lube again, because of my two other occurrences.after spending an hour at the dealer, i was told i could either have the shaft lubed again at a cost to me of $120.00 or i could have it replaced at a cost to me of $260.00.they would not cover the expense because they said it had been so long since the last occurrence.i will be contacting the customer assistance center to see what they will offer.

After the power steering rack was replaced in feb 2003, the intermittent clicking noise when turning resumed in april, 2003. Dealer unable to verify until september, 2003. Dealer replaced left outer tie rod (part 26067288 - rod kit 6.233).this did not solve the clicking noise when turning and on oct 7, 2003 the dealer replaced the intermediate shaft (part 26100571 - shaft 6.526). As of oct 7, 2003, the dealer has replaced the intermediate shaft twice and the power steering rack twice in an attempt to solve the clicking noise when turning. *la

Steering column and tie rods need to be replaced in our 2001 pontiac bonneville with only 39000 miles and no accident.

On december 30, 2002 i took my 2001 pontiac bonnevelle sle in under warranty to peoria pontiac gmc to investigate vibration and a clunk noise in the steering column.the steering column was lubed by peoria pontiac gmc per gm's steering shaft bulletin.mileage was 19,814.in december of 2004, the noise returned at approximately 50,000 miles.i took the vehicle in to peoria pontiac gmc on 12/04/2004 and was advised to have the steering shaft for greased for approximately $125.00 by my service advisor.on 12/6/2004 i phoned pontiac.they advised me to contact my dealer to order a new steering shaft.the pontiac service representative promised to reimburse me after the repair was made.on 2/8/2005 i contacted pontiac because the part is still not in at the dealer.i was advised gm has redesigned the part and that they do not have a delivery date. I do not have another vehicle to drive while waiting for the part and am concerned this is a safety issue.

The contact owns a 2001 pontiac bonneville.while driving 15 mph, the steering column began making a grinding noise at 52,000 miles.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they pulled out and lubricated the steering column, which temporarily corrected the failure.at 67,000 miles, the grinding noise recurred.the dealer replaced the steering column.at 78,000 miles, the failure recurred.currently, the dealer is refusing to make any more repairs to the vehicle.the current mileage was 78,000 and current mileage was 52,000.

Vehicle taken to dealer for oil change november 21,2004. Requested steering check because of popping noise in column. Vehicle had been checked and repairs made on jan. 25, 2002 for similar condition pursuant to factory tsb. Manner of repair has been updated, tsb 04-02-35-004, issued mar.,04. This is the third tsb issued regarding steering system. We feel "repair" is still under warranty and think recall be issued by simple nature of system involed.

There is a cracking noise in the steering shaft when steering wheel is turned.dealership replaced the part, but the problem still exists.

Noticed clicking noise when turning the wheel and felt knocking through floor boards. Disregard complaint 10047407 of 11/13/2001 as year and mileage incorrect.dealer replaced the intermediate steering shaft (part 26100571 - shaft 6.526) and lubricated the shaft (part 26098237 - lubricant 8.800). *la

Tie rod ends had to be replaced at about 15k miles, again at about 25k miles.car now has 64k miles and needs to be replaced again.also, i have had to have the steering shaft lubricated and/or replaced 4 times due to the clicking/grinding noise caused by defective shafts.

While drivingat any speedsteering produced a loud thumping noise.dealer stated that intermediate steering shaft failed intermittently. ...it would cost $300.00 to replace and lubricate it.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision of 25 mph, crashing into a light pole.integrity ofstructure body damage has exceeded over $3600.00 compared tofour star crash test rating given by nhtsa. Feel free to provide any further information.

While driving at 35 mph vehicle lost steering ability. Vehicle would not turn left or right.

Noticed intermittent clicking noise when turning.dealer unable to verify until february, 3, 2003.replaced the power steering rack (part 26099978 - gear kit 6.508), lubricated the intermediate shaft (part 26098237 - lubricant 8.800) and replaced power steering hoses (parts 26079289 & 25727230). *la

Tie rod ends are worn excessively, causing vibration and clunking in front end.worn badly enough to possibly cause seperation.dt

Can hear and feel clunking noise (through steering wheel) while turning wheel and or braking or accelerating at low speeds. Also will feel and hear the clunk noise while the car is not in motion while turning the steering wheel.dt

Noticed intermittent clicking noise coming from front left engine area when turning. Dealer could not identify until 11/12/01.replaced steering rack (part 26098782 - gear kit 6.508). *la

The trunk leaks....my car was the 3rd bonneville with the reported leaking problem at the local dealership.

My major complaint now is i have a 2001 bonneville with a little over 24,000 miles on it.the hood is rusting from the inside out and has blistered up the original factory paint on the leading edge.the dealer is talking about repair with no guarantees. Since the problem is obviously an inherent defect with either the steel or the preparation i fear it will continue to happen. My feeling is i should receive, at a minimum, a lifetime guarantee/warranty and preferably a new hood.

When the rear window motor of 2001 bonneville fails, it causes the window to lower even though it is in the fully raised position. The windowposition was not beingchanged at the time. It was just a sudden clunk sound from the back seat and the window went down.this happened when driving at nightin very heavy rain, on the interstate with infant in the rear seat. This may seem like a minor item, but if we had been in a north dakotasnow storm, temp. Of 5 degrees and wind chills even worse.. The situation would have been life threatening. The window shouldbe designed remainin it's selected positionin the event of motor failure. The second rear window failed in the exact same manner about 4 months after the first..no baby on board this time.

The hood of the vehicle has paint bubbling at the front peak.this is an aluminum hood and the bubbling is a result of oxidation which, according to the local service manager, is a known problem.the factory zone representative declined to fix the problem, even though the manager said there was a fix for it now, due to the fact that the car is outside of the original manufacturers warranty.my argument is that the car is just barely two years old and shouldn't be having problems like this already.the fact that the car is out of warranty does not negate the fact that there is a known problem and pontiac is unwilling to fix it. This problem, along with four more problems, is leaving me sorry i purchased this vehicle.although my father retired from gm, if this is the kind of service i can expect from pontiac, i will refrain from buying any other gm products and stay with ford as they have routinely taken care of any and all problems as they have come up.

If this is not where i need to send a complaint, please forward this message to the correct persons. I own a 2001 pontiac bonneville with only 52,000 miles. I bought this car in may 2004. In june 2004 the power window went out. I was informed that they could not just replace the "arm" but also the window motor with a cost $300. Then, only 3 months later the check engine light came on and i found out that the ignition module went out which made the ignition coil go out, which made the ignition cables go bad! that was an additional $650! the reason i am upset is because carmax supposedly have their cars "carmax certified". They are supposed to protect against getting a "lemon".

The window control panel on the passengers side rattles, the switch does not rattle, but the housing that holds the switch in the door rattles.

I just currently bought this vehicle in march when i got no lights or anything was on a couple days later my engine light came on and the brake lights came on saying that my track is off also when i try to go over 50 miles per hour the car shakes really bad i took it back to the dealership and they told me they did not have a mechanic to look at it and it happen to me 3 times when i took it there.

First incident happened when i was just driving to work i went to lower the rear window heard a noise and the window fell down. I tried to shut it, but it would not close, the motor did not work and i only had 52,000 miles on the car.second incident happened last week when i was driving to the store with my baby granddaughter and the window on the other side did the same thing.difference here it was a cold day in maine and my 16 month old granddaughter was in her car seat in the back.tried to get it closed but it would fall right back down.i had to get the parents to come get the baby because it would have been to cold for me to drive her home with the wind coming through the window i now have 62,331 miles on this car. This is very unsafe, all 2001 bonnevilles should be recalled, and have the windows fixed.

Alternator failed - could not open doors or roll windows down-trapped in car!

Rear window regulators have both failed, allowing the rear windows to drop and cannot be raised.the only way to fix the problem is to replace the regulators ($350.00 each).both passenger and driver side regulators have failed.this is a well know (both by owners and by gm) problem on pontiac bonnevilles.this is a safety issue, since the rear windows do not raise, they pose a risk to passengers in the rear (especially children), who can be hit by debris entering the windows, cold air in the winter, or children putting arms or head out and being injured.

On my 2001 bonneville 3 of my 4 windows have dropped at different times and now need service so i can take the tape off of them. I have seen more than a numerous amount of complaints about this problem online and seen a frequent number of bonnevilles with tape on them in my town.

Dt:the consumer was driving home from work and the back driver's side window fell down in it's window slot halfway without any indication. The driver heard air and wind coming into vehicle and discovered that the power window had opened halfway by itself.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the window regulator which failed.afterwards, the front driver's side power window has failed and the window will not go up by itself without manually helping to maneuver it back up.there is a grinding noise.the second failure has not been repaired or taken back to the dealer as of yet.

The contact owns a 2001 pontiac bonneville.the contact noticed coolant leaking underneath the engine compartment.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the intake gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pan, and several piping components at the cost of $1,400.the repairs were made at the contact's expense; however, the vehicle continued to leak coolant.the dealer stated that the contact should not be concerned.the contact later took the vehicle to a different dealer and they found that a coolant elbow pipe had been knocked out of place, which caused the leak.the necessary repairs were made to the vehicle for the second time at the cost of $10, due to the failure of the initial dealer.the failure mileage was 93,767 and current mileage was less than 105,000.updated 07/08/09the front passenger electric window motor failed and needs to be replaced for a second time. Both rear windows on my pontiac bonneville fell down for no apparent reason.the first about a year ago and the second this fall.we have no children so no one ever used the rear windows.i wired them up temporarily.i live in a cold climate.if this were to happen to the front windows during the winter while on a long trip we could freeze to death.we have read of other failures of windows with bonnevilles,i feel this is a defect which the manufacturer should be held accountable for.

Both rear windows have fallen down (at separate times) without operation by driver/passenger.approximate cost of regulator/installation for repair = $350-400 each.first incident (rear passenger side) occurred, and i taped up window pending repairs.tape came loose, and window fell down again during rainstorm.i was alone in car, and had to try to find location on highway to attempt to get window back up.safety issue with being on shoulder of highway during torrential rainfall.window is still taped because once the second window fell, cost became too prohibitive to fix at this time.second incident (rear driver side) occurred approximately 2-3 weeks after first incident.granddaughters were in rear seat, (window locks were on because 1st window had already fallen), granddaughter gave small scream of fright when window fell, surprising my husband (driver), causing him to jerk wheel in traffic because her scream caught him off-guard and he didn't know what had happened. Second window is still taped.safety issues with children in rear seat and window down, with no way of putting it back up at that time; plus, the unexpected fright to driver.

Driver's side mirror vibrates so much thatconsumer can't makeoutobjects behindvehicle. Vibration comes and goes, and its been doing this since car was purchased. Called dealer, and dealer stated that it was a design chracteristic of car, and there was nothing they could do.
