The airbag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, however the problem recurred.

I own a 1998 plymouth voyager minivan (vin #[xxx]) and have experienced a clockspring failure which resulted in my driver's side airbag, horn and cruise control not working.even though there is a current recall for this problem on this model year vehicle, the manufacturer stated i was not covered since the build date was two days after the end of the covered period.this seems very unreasonable to me and indicates that maybe the recall was too narrow.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Burns from air bag when deployed during collision.

Ea 01 007/air bag clockspring: air bag light remains on while traveling dealer notified, and informedconsumerthat clockspring needed to be replaced. Feel free to provide any further information concerning this matter.

Driver side and passenger side air bags deployed while vehicle was in motion. There was no crash, no pothole, no bump on the road, nothing to triggger the airbag to go off. As a result i suffered a burn mark to my chin and neck and brusing on my chest and forearm. Passenger was also hit i face no visible marks and children were terribly shaken.

Airbag light has been illuminating. Consumer feels airbags may deploy at any time. Consumer states there is buzzing noise in steering column. Took the vehicle to the dealer and found out the clock spring was defective and was replaced.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)the chrysler dealer has not been able to fix the clockspring on my minivan because the part that chrysler will pay for is not in stock. [xxx].i have had my minivan in the dealer multiple times since jan 15 and they have not fixed theairbag to deploy if needed.it seems to me that chrysler is limiting parts to fix a safety recall.

As an investigator assigned to the california highway patrol, multidisciplinary accident investigation team (mait) in sacramento, and as directed by the mait operations manual, this is to notify nhtsa/odi of the verified failure of a safety restraint system in a vehicle involved in a severe-injury traffic collision.on september 2, 2009, a 1998 plymouth voyager was involved in a collision in san joaquin county, ca.the registered owner/sole occupant in the voyager sustained injury when his vehicle collided into the rear of a 1999 chevrolet tahoe, at speed.the principal direction of force was essentially from front-to-rear through the plymouth and the frontal damage was equally distributed across the full width of the vehicle.the front passenger's srs deployed, and the driver's srs did not.the driver of the plymouth was restrained by his seat belt. A query of the nhtsa website indicated the plymouth was subject to recall under nhtsa campaign 04v-480, and daimler chrysler recall no. D17.the recall was the subject of ea04-013 of the odi.a local dodge dealer confirmed the vehicle was part of the group under recall and had not undergone correction of the condition despite records of mailed notifications to the registered owner,of valley springs, ca.the driver of the plymouth made no statement regarding the status of the srs warning indicator lamp prior to the collision, which is under investigation by the stockton area of the california highway patrol.valley davison mait's preliminary investigation indicates that the driver?s srs components were in place on the vehicle.mait will not conduct a failure analysis investigation, as the matter is civil, not criminal, in nature.a report of the mait findings will follow.officer c.m. The airbag light illuminated on the dashboard and the horn was inoperable, the dealer replaced the clockspring , consumer stated there was a noise coming from the vehicle, the dealer replaced the rear brake shoes and drums.

The 1998 plymouth voyager passenger van was involved in a two vehicle collision on a public highway. Cause of the collision was due to the other involved vehicle, that being a 2011 kia soul, failing to stay within its travel lane. The kia crossed over into the path of the plymouth voyager, with both vehicles colliding, front/left vs front/left. Speeds of both vehicles estimated at approximately 40 miles per hour. Both air bags in the kia deployed, as did the front/passenger airbag in the plymouth voyager. The driver's airbag in the plymouth voyager failed to deploy, unknown why. Both drivers sustained injuries in the collision. The collision was investigated by the montgomery township police department, phone 215-362-2301, police report #2016-00578.

Dt*: the contact stated there were several problems with the vehicle that would be considered a manufacturer defect. The first component of concern was the belt tensioner which had to be replaced by the dealer because it was observed to be dismantled. The second component was identified when the vehicle was taken in for a regular oil change. The independent mechanic determined there was a major leak coming from the pump seal on the transmission.once the transmission was taken out of the vehicle, a crack was observed in the torque converter. The transmission had to rebuilt because a transmission for replacement could not be found.the dealer determined the transmission problem was due to a pin drop which has been common in vehicles of this year, make and model. The third component was discovered while the contact searched car fax for history on the vehicle; there wasa recall on this vehicle for the airbag. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the remedy repair, it was not performed because the vehicle exceeded 70,000 miles. The dealer confirmed that the remedy repairs would be issued only if the vehicle incurred the consequences of the recall. The last component of concern was the service engine soon light, which constantly illuminated. When the vehicle was taken to the dealer, they determined there was cylinder misfire. However, the contact expressed that this problem may have been caused by a malfunctioned computer system. After a major tune up to the vehicle the service engine soon light only illuminates intermittently.

My 1998 plymouth voyager is not on the recall list for the clock spring replacement. I experienced the same problem with this vehicle and had it fixed before the recall came out. Chrysler is now refusing to reimburse me for the repair claiming it is not in the original recall list. I believe the recall list is not reaching all of the effected vehicle's and should include all 98 voyagers.

The air bag deployed without impact.

I own a 1998 plymouth voyager with 60,000 miles on it recently the air bag light came on and will not go off. I did some research via the internet and find out that there was a recall for the clock spring plus other recalls that we have never received for the van. This really concerns me for the safety of myself and my family. I will never buy another chrysler product if this is the way they are going to treat their customersplus i no longer like chrysler products because of other problems that we have had in the past.

The heat changes from hot to a/cby itself, the rear defrost don't work all the time, the back wipers go on by then selfwith different delays,,,,stays on defrost, and the strut tower are very poor shape, never saw strut towers rust like this on any other van or carbut this one..1998 plymouth voyager...also all this stuff wrong with it and the check engine like don't go on...very bad van to have.

My headlights and tail lights come on by themselves when the vehicle is turned off.the local dealership said it was a headlight switch, put in a new one, charged me and it did not fix the problem.then they said it was a computer.i took it to another dealership and they said it was not the computer, but did not know what the problem was.a third vehicle electrical shop simply had no idea what was causing the lights to come on.so for the past two years, i have removed the fuses from the headlights and only drive the vehicle in the day time.as long as the fuses are not in and i do not turn on the headlights, the problem does not happen.of course having a car you can't drive at night is a bit of a hindrance.

I own a 1998 plymouth voyager.at the time of the first incident the vehicle had approximately 80,000 miles on it.while driving i noticed that a number of warning lights suddenly appeared and that all of the gauges were not operating on the dash.the vehicle was brought to scap jeep/plymouth/dodge dealership in fairfield ct.the technician said that he had no clue what it was and that he would have to trace each wire and it would include numerous man hours.he also suggested replacing the main computer.if i wanted to have them fix it i would have to make another appointment.i found that the vehicle operated just fine, just could not tell mph, mileage, auto door locks failed and airbag, anti lock brakes, in addition to all other gauges.three days later all returned to normal for a few weeks and then a repeat.the problem continued with no pattern for the next few years.dealership claimed it was computers.in speaking with my local mechanic, he had another customer with same type vehicle and same problem.this customer spent in excess of $2000 at the dealership and problem still persisted.the local mechanic opened the dash and immediately found a wire that was partially broken free from a harness.he pushed the wire completely into receiver and problem solved.due to wire being frayed, he went to local junk yard to get a used harness end and replaced said piece.same problem was found with our vehicle.wire was fixed and the entire job was less than 1 hour of labor.have had no problems since.plymouth has issued no recalls or even any alerts of the problem to its dealerships.in phone calls to customer service they claim that there is no problem.i do not believe that two vehicles in the same town are the only ones to experience this problem and hope that you look into this issue and order any recallsnecessary.

Own a 98 plymouth voyager expresso that intermittently will not crank or will crank and immediately go dead. All dash lights flicker or go out, no fuel indicator,no speedometer. Has died while driving it once which was very dangerous and scary.failure occurs periodically and is dangerous and vehicle is no longer dependable. Have had numerous things replaced bcm, starter, wiring harness, sensors etc.problem continues to come back eventually.has to be a chrysler defect. I had one dealership deny awareness of a problem with that year minivan and some say "you can try this for 1,000 dollars but it may only work for awhile. This should fall under the lemon law most repairs made only lasted a few months. No repairs have lasted more than a year. Please help...i love my vehicle otherwise but have no money to make further repairs or to buy a new vehicle. I started having this problem in october of 2006 and have been dealing with this off and on ever since. My van will not crank now and i have only had the latest bcm since october 2008.

Consumer states vehicle will not start just spins, starter was replaced on two occasions and also battery went out, and was also replaced once.

Some months in 1998 after purchasing new van the battery died. After jump starting it the low gas light, and ringer kept going on. After it was repaired i was told the battery was defective. In january of 2002 i had to replace the battery. After i did this again the low fuel light, and ringer kept going off. A visit to two service depts., and i was told that the computer had only to be reset. After bringing my vehicle in far service i was than told i had a bad fuel module, and two thousand three hundred were on backorder. This sounds like a defect due to the number backordered, and also that if the consumer has to replace the battery after the warranty expires he now has to incur additional cost for a defective system problem every time you have to change the battery. 2300 backordered modules (per service manager richard biunno) seems to be a defect!!

Vehicle could not start because the battery was weak.yh

While driving power steering went out with any warning.voltage regulator had overheated, andalternator was not charging. Serpentine belt got wet, resulting in belt coming off the pulley.this happens everytime serpentine belt gets wet.please describe details.

Ignition lock seized in the locked position and no amount of effort could cause it to move.the manufacturer's roadside assistance number was called and they called a tow truck.we had to have the ignition lock cylinder drilled out because it is only designed to be removed in the run position.the technician at the dealer who fixed it (howard wilson chrysler/jeep) said that he frequently has to replace the steering column in these cases but he would not be pinned down on how often it occurs, although he did say it is 2-3 times a month.a local lock smith indicated that chrysler locks have a reputation for failing in this way.we had to pay $447 for the lock cylinder, lock housing, and labor and the dealer says it is not covered by warrenty because we are over 36,000 miles.we think this is a known problem that chrysler is covering up rather than issuing a recall.

Oil leaked on the right rear corner of the head gasket. Needs to be repaired.

My19 98 plymouth voyager with the 2.4ltr engine developed an oil leak at approx. 49,000 miles.after tedious searching, i found the leak was confined to the head gasket. Which has turned out to be a very expensive fix.i asked chrysler if they had encountered this problem, and was told no.so then i decided to check the internet, and lordy lordy the place was overflowing with a multitude of the same problem.i feel that this is a factory design problem, which gives to a serious possibility of loss of property or life due to theoilleaking could catch fire as it drips and mists it's way under the vehicle. The exhaust and converter are both in the path of the oil.chrysler should reimburse all moneys paid in trying to correct this problem.

Cause of loss of power steering support is accessory/serpentine belt coming off the drive pulleys. Has happened four times within 12 months, about every 2,000 miles. Tsb 07-01-99 by chrysler describes the problem, albeit making wrong assumptions regarding affected models and conditions triggering the incident (snow/moisture) . This is a serious safety problem that should be addressed by nhtsa. Chrysler's responsiveness to my complaints has been zero. My wife and children were lucky that an accident caused by the sudden loss of power steering could be prevented. With an attorney's help, i will start to seek remedy under lemon law protection this week.

Serpentine belt frayed and was replaced twice.the third time the belt snapped while van was traveling on gsp in nj at 65 mph.van was towed into service department, where belt and defective (quote from repair order) tensioner were replaced.

I now have 100000 mi. On my plymouth voyger.i have had to replace the wide or serpentine belt six times.three of these times i was told i needed to replace the tension pully.each time, the belt starts enraveling nearest the outer or passenger side.each time i am told that the other two narrower belts need to be removed so they are replaced also.i bought this vehicle in 1999 with under ten thousand miles.

1998 plymouth voyager-serpentine belt comes off pulleys when run in wet conditions.this has occured three times in the past month.after first two times, the belt was simply put back in place by dealer stating this is a common occurence with this vehicle. On the last occurence, dealer informed me of tsb 07-01-99 dealing with the serpentine belt and replacing a bracket that keeps the belt in alignment. It will cost approximately $100.00 to replace. This obvious defect has serious consequences especially since the belt controls power steering and cooling of the vehicle. An obvious loss of steering control at high speeds can have disastrous consequences. Nhtsa should require plymouth to retrofit all of these vehicles.

While driving on a road in the rain; traveling through a small puddle of water causes the belt to slip off the engine; as a result the car looses power and power steering; loss of control of car on road; note: this has happen before at one other time.

Gasoline odor/exhaust fumes were coming into the vehicle through the heating vent on the passenger's side while driving at various speeds. This was due to a flex cross over tube located between the exhaust manifold.dealer was aware of this issue, but the replacement part was unavailable.

1998 plymouth voyager 3.3l engine has a defect in the design of the metal bellows on the engine crossover pipe.the bellows is meant to absorb any thermal movements created when the exhaust piping heats up more than the engine.either assembly issues, fatigue design of the bellows or a susceptible material has caused a significant number of failures on this part.so many so that i have had difficulty procuring the part from the manufacturer.upon failure the bellows developes a crack that propagates all the way around it.exhaust gases then leak out and at slow speeds appear to be pulled into the passenger compartment through the car's vent system.i've tried to patch the repair but i've been unsuccessful.our local dealer won't perform exhaust work.i believe that this should be a recall.the failure number is based upon a number of backorders that i was told the manufacturer had on this part.

The inside of the headlight lens was clouded, which reduced visibility while driving.

When attempting to turn on the headlights, the headlights will flicker on for only a split second then go off.the driver must turn the headlight switch only to a certain point so that the lights will stay on.if the lights flicker, the driver has to turn the lights off, then try again.twice, while driving at night, the headlights went out, requiring the driver to pull off the road (without lights), then fiddle with the headlight switch to get the headlights to come on again.it is extremely touchy to get them to come on and stay on.this appears to be a safety recall in canada, but not in the us.according to the automobile protection association (in canada) for 1996-2000 models, "headlight switch or relay malfunction in the lower dash panel or steering column can cause the lights to fail to come on, or the electrical system to overheat with smoke and a risk of fire (three cases of smoke and two of fire at time of writing)."see http://www.apa.ca/template.asp?docid=23#top for the information i just referenced.

The gas tank leaks fuel after several attempts to get the problem fixed.nlm

No one was hurt in the accident when i hit a piece of metal in the road. The object tore off a body frame member and then punctured the plastic fuel tank. Gas was leaking everywhere. I can not believe that anyone would place a plastic fuel tank directly in the path of a front wheel drive vehicle. The front wheels being drive wheels tend to propel objects back at the tanks. Conversations with mechanics have informed me that over time the tank will eventually start to leak from the stones that will be thrown back from the fromt wheel. I recentlly read in the local paper where a ford minivan with a plastic fuel tank devloped a lead while traveling on a local road and had to be towed. It is even ore amazing to me that these systems that are designed to fail and will impact the environment in a negative way are legal. If the car markers are going to use plastic fuel tanks they should not be located in a direct path behind a wheel and they should have a metal shield.

I have been told that it is probably on it's way out seeing as chrysler knows not how to make a working product.it is very dangerous for me to try to pull out onto a road when i am not sure whether or not i am going to be able to go.when i do and it doesn't move, i then have to hurry up and gun it so as not to get hit from oncoming traffic. The car then jerks into gear after reving up to around 50 if i take it that far. I usually don't because then engine sounds like it is screaming.shifting is a problem.it is well known to most chrysler owners that there is a serious problem with their transmissions, yet chrysler does nothing to upgrade or fix the defects.had i known this information before i had bought the car, i would've bought a different make vehicle.

While traveling at approximately 45 to 50 mph there was a bang that came fromfront ofvehicle. Vehicle rolled approximately 10 feet and stopped.a dealership stated thatdifferential pin dropped out oftransmission which caused this defect.

Whiledriving approximately 45 mph, the consumer heard anoise and tried to shut the vehicle off.the consumer hit the guard rail to get the vehicle to stop and the transmission went out.the differential cracked and broke the axle which went into the transmission.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop.after the transmission was remedied, 4 days later, the seals leaked. *sc

This is the thirdtransmission that has been replaced at 10,000.dealership is aware ofproblem.

While driving on a busy highway, the transmission failed without warning, vehicle lost speed at an alarming rate, dropping from 70 mph to 20 mph within seconds.chrysler refused to replace the transmission at no cost to the consumer.

The transmission is a known problem that chrysler is playing dumb about.they are attempting to blame the consumer for failing to purchase extended warranties, when no one could reasonably expect a transmission to fail at 40k miles.chrysler has offered to "pick up" the cost for parts, but ... That still leaves $1,119.00 for the labor on the transmission and the erg valve.neither of these components should have failed at 40k, but the transmission is my major concern.

Dt: contactwent to havebrakes checkedon 8-3-05,just a routine check, and the mechanic noticed that left front caliper bolts wereincorrect and have damaged the steering knuckles.he told her the left front wheel was spinning inside the knuckles, within 7 months after purchasingthe carhad to replace the transmission.also, the ignition switch was bad.

The differential pin broke insidetransmission. As a result, transmission had to be replaced.

Am about to have vehicle taken to dealership, but have researched several similar incident where chrysler tried to deny responsibility for a transmission that goes out after only 58,000 so i'm creating cases, just in case.

Transmission leaking.yh

While at a stop, consumer states pressed accelerator and vehicle would not move.engine was still running but vehicle would not move. The vehicle was towed, to dealer, the dealer states the coolant line ruptured and caused antifreeze to go into the transmission. Which resulted in the transmission and radiator being replaced.please provide any further information. Mr

The airbag sensor light continued to stay on and horn the was inoperative. The dealer stated the air bag clock spring had failed. A recall was issued, however thevehicle identification number was outside of the remedy scope. The valve cover gasket leaked oil while the vehicle was still under warranty.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who claimed they couldn't find a leak.the vehicle was taken to two other technicians who both agreed that there was a leak.the serpentine belt cracked at 90000 miles.the transmission cooler line clamps were replaced.

The shift indicator is in drive, but it does not indicate whether vehicle is in 1st or 2nd .dealer has been notified.

When driving on a incline it causedfront wheels to dribble or vibrate. Vehicle was taken to an independent shop, and consumer was informed that the problem wascausedby a torque converter failure.

Trans axle blewout,blowingtransmission.

While starting from stopped position at traffic light, my front left axel snapped in the middle. It seems there was a manufacturing defect in the axel rod.

Planetary gear in transmission failed.dealership has given consumer no reason for failure.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Dt*:the contact stated a leak was noticed under the transmission when the vehicle was parked.a local independent repair mechanic replaced a shaft seal in the transmission.however, that did not remedy the leak.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair transmission shop were it was determined the transmission needed rebuilt and the differential needed replaced.

From what i understand this is a common failure in these vans. This pin in the transmission breaks and shoots through the transmission housing. This is a manufacturing defect that chrysler should correct. This is going to cost me $2000.00. Who's to say this won't happen again.recall these vans and fix this problem!

Seatbelt on passenger's middle rear is faulty. Seat belt does not hold tightly, causing child to swing out of seatbelt while vehicle is making a turn. Dealer noted that problem is a design flaw.

Both seat belt covers broke.nlm

At the request of www.unsafebelts.com, i have contact daimlerchrysler and now your organization regarding my concern of defective gen3 seat belts in the middle and rear seats of my 1998 plymouth voyager. Both my children always use their seat belts, and sit in the rear and/or middle seats. The possibility of the seat belt accidently unlatching when most needed is of utmost concern to me. I would appreciate this complaint (concern) being on record. Thank you for your time.

Vehicle has had the same problems for 2 1/2 years now, vehicle will not turn on, cooling fans will not shut down once car is off and will then will not turn back on, seatbelts have black tar which has seeped out of the seatbelt housing. Also, headlights flicker on and off while driving, cassette ejects at will during operation.

While attempting to park, another vehicle hit consumer's vehicle on passenger's rear side tire.child that was sitting in middle seat inrear was thrown tofloor becausemiddle seat belt didn't hold.please provide any further information.

Rearseat belts locked up due to vehicle insulation melting over the seat belt mechanism during the hot summer months making them unusable.

Seat belts in middle seating area stick when locking seat belt. Contacted dealer, and the dealer was not willing to do anything.

Upon impact, neither air bag deployed.2 rear passengers were thrown forward into the bucket seats, even though both were buckled in. Neither shoulder belts restrained the 100lb child or the 70lb child. Paramedics arrived on scene & treated everyone. Driver in hospital next day for torn ligaments & in need of therapy.

When replaced the seatbelt was frozen in its carrier with a tar like substance that dripped down from above . I kept the part.

Consumerwas sitting atstop light 50feetin traffic and was hit fromrear byanother vehicle . Dual airbagsdidn't go off, and passenger's seat broke at top. Dealershipwas aware of problem.

The center and the back seats have no head restraints.yh

Consumer purchased the car with temporary headrest, the little plastic part that the dealer put inplace of the headrest is very sharp to the touch, and can easily cut someone, also the piece are so small that the baby can choke.

The rear passenger seats do not come with head rests.i feel this should be a safety feature not a luxury item.the head rest in the rear seats should be includedthe basic package, not a part that has to be purchased separately.also, our salesperson should have mentioned to us that this part of the car was not included, after all it is a family minivan.

Another 1998 plymouth voyager van with the rear brake lines broken. Happened on the road, brakes worked and less than 3 miles down the road when driver attempted a turn, brakes went to the floor. Brake system failed numerous times - replaced brakes, rotors, and calipers.dealer was unable to find the problem untili had spent over $1200 on the problem in the course of six months.i went to three different automobile repair centers to remedy the problem including five star dodge (dealer where i purchased the car), precision tune centers, and sears automobile center.all of these centers replaced pads after i initially purchased the first set because they were on warranty.however, each time i had to replace an additional parts like rotors on the front of the car.ultimately sears said the caliphers was the problem.again i had to replace pads and rotors, and now caliphers.after 3 times coming back for warranty service at sears after the caliphers were replaced they decided to buy the parts and warranty back on the car and have it towed to another service center.this happened in a 2 month period of time.my brakes went out a total of five times on the left side.i was riding on the rotors.the pads just broke apart or worn out on these occasions.when my car was towed to the dodge dealership they stated they did not know of any mechanical defect in the brake system.upon inspection of my car it was found that the brake hose had collapsed on the car.i had to have pads, rotors, and a brake hose repaired on the car at the cost of $500 on this trip.this was also the dealer i had dealt with at first when my car had the previous trouble with the brakes.this time i could tell them it was not the brake pads, rotors or calipher because i had those previously repaired.this prompted them to look further for a solution.so five set of brakes later, my car hopefully is finally safe.

Right and left front brake pads worn away/ rotor damage to both sides.when asked, the mechanic at midas states vechicles this new and with this low of mileage don't usually have this much brake damage, but lots of plymouth voyagers 98's and 99's have been coming in with this same amount or more damage.

Brake calipers are hanging up,destroying the brake rotors. Also and there is some grinding noise coming fromvehicle.

Rotors needed to be replaced, theyrusted from inside. Dealer has advisedconsumer to replace rotors. Please add additional informstion.

During a routine inspection consumer noticed rotors were rusting from the inside. As rotor rusted the brakes started to fail.

After market disc brake pads - talon part #591 - disintegrated after less than 3,000 miles.caused serious degredation of braking ability and near acident with the missed staop sign from lack of braking ability.

The airbag light illuminated on the dashboard and the horn was inoperable, the dealer replaced the clockspring , consumer stated there was a noise coming from the vehicle, the dealer replaced the rear brake shoes and drums.

This is a company vehicle.it was used on tuesday of this week without problem.thursday it was used again, and the coworker who used it this time found that the brakes were just barely able to bring the vehicle to a stop from a slow roll.fortunately, he was able to safely return to the parking lot without incident.when i checked on the vehicle later that day i noted a puddle of brake fluid on the ground under the rear axle.thinking that possibly some road debris had punctured a brake line, i took it into the shop, a dodge dealer.there they found that one brake line had rusted completely through.also, they noted significant rust on other places in the lines.i had the shop give me the old lines after the new ones were installed.i have them available for photographing or physical analysis.it appears to me to be a case of dissimilar metal and / or crevice corrosion at the location where the solid tube meets with the wire mesh portion of the line.i think this represents a true safety hazard, particularly since this is a 1998 vehicle on which such a problem should never be anticipated.thanks for investigating.by the way, they also said that the vehicle is unsafe to drive because snow and/or water has rusted up one of the rear brake assemblies.this also seems like an issue that should be addressed.but i don't consider it to be as great a safety concern.i think that a reasonably observant driver should have plenty of warning if a brake is dragging, unlike driving off some day with almost no brakes whatsoever because of a rusted out line.

When applying brake, the brake pedal went go all the way to the floor. Dealer inspected the vehicle and could not duplicate the problem, however the consumer replaced the master cylinder and vehicle is worked properly. *ph

While driving at an undetermined speed, and brake pedal was depressed pedal went to the floor. When this occurred vehicle pulled to the left. The failure was caused by brake pads coming off the brake. Dealership indicated that there was a defect in the brake design that caused premature brake wear.

While having some work done on our 1998 plymouth voyager, the mechanic noticed that the area at the top of the strut and spring connected under the hood has both corrosion and perferation. It covers about one-third of the strut tower. I called a dealer and was told that this rust-through was not covered under their warrenty. I was also told that this condition is potentially dangeropus if the strut and spring rust completely through. The rest of the body is rust free. I also found that in 2002 a service bulletin 23-044-02 dated october 14, 2002 covered this problem. Since this is a major safety and cost issue for my family, i would like to know if there is anything i can do to get chrisler to fix the problem?

1998plymouth minivan. Structure rusted through on left front strut tower. The problem was caught when there was approx. 90% rust through. A pothole hit or just severe braking could have had catastrophic results. Chrysler advises that they will do nothing but saysorry. Is this a chronic problem ??

While checking under the hood, the right strut tower appeared to have an unusual amount of rust on top.a crack was then noticed.mechanic stated it would have to be replaced and this was a common problem on this model.the original part was painted and rusted due to failure of paint. Needs to be totally replaced with new kit that corrects the problem.failure of this part may result in loss of control and inability to steer the car. Poor engineering cited by mechanic.prior models did not have this problem and manufacturer should step to provide this repair under an extended warranty since it is a very expense repair and part should never have cracked in the first place.

Vehicle pulled to the right. Driver had to keep wheel at a constant angle in order to keep it staight. When approaching 60 mph the steering wheel seems to vibrate and shake.

While driving the driver heard a loud noise coming from the front.the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the front strut tower was crack and needed to be replaced.please provide further details. This information was provide by craig mother mrs. Darlene henkey.

Vehicle was shooting sparks from under the dashboard on the driver's side. Then, the brake lights and the dashboard lights could not be turned off.mechanic had to turn the lights off by disconnecting or touching a wire.the ses light remained illuminated while driving.the horn stopped working.the brake light became stuck and the brakes felt spongy.the interior lights failed intermittently.the rear door lock wouldn't work with the key.the right rear wheel bearings were noisy.one of the front tires had cord separation.

The goodyear tires had to be replaced at 33000 miles. The engine has been making a clicking noise (sounds like a bad lifter)& usingaprox. 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. I have had the vehicle in for these problems on at least six different occasions with no satisfaction.the service department informed me that there was nothing wrong with the engine, that the oil consumption is not considered excesive and the clicking is normal .(tiresize: p205/75r14)( dot number:tire size: p205/75r14 )

During flat repair, this tire was removed from rim for first time. It was then seen that the bead was damaged, apparently at the time of assembly by plymouth. A call to goodyear indicated that chrysler had done a recall on these exact tires for the exact same reason for the model year earlier. This is your nhtsa campaign id number 97v200000 (mfg campaign #749). My vehicle was assembled 9/8/97, just a few months after the prior model year recall ended. Chrysler allowed the dealer to dismount all four remaining tires to inspect for damage. An additional one of those tires also had bead damage. Chrysler then refused to pay for replacement tires (or any portion thereof). Dealer agreed to sell three new tires (to be used with the undamaged spare which had not been used) at their cost, with no installation charge. It seems that the assembly problem that caused the 1997 model year recall was not fixed completely, and that the same potential hazard may exist in at least some 1998 model year tires.( dot number: tire size: p215 65r15 )

Air conditioner failed, needs new condensertook in for air conditioner repair, mechanic found rusted strut towers and rust through on plate on driver's side.recommended vehicle unsafe to drive.mechanic said even if it could be repaired, he would recommend "scrapping" the car as he wouldn't want his family driving something like that.vehicle was purchased new in 1999.it is a 1998 plymouth grand voyager, espresso.it has fairly high miles (150,000), but should not have rusted through in only six years!!!!!

Air bag light andengine check lightilluminated on the dash, also, when driving without prior warning head gasket needed replacing. Please provide any further details.

Tensioner freezes up and has to be replaced. This has happened twice in one year. Each of the two different dealers charged me different amounts, one charged 106.00 and the other charged 275.00. I have been told this can be very dangerous by the dealer and needs to be fixed. I wonder why then if it is so dangerous and so many people are having the same problem it has not been recalled.

Consumer states that some chemicals waste on interior managed to melt chips inelectric circuit system. Consumer states that now cannot tell how fast car is traveling. Please provide any further information.mr

It is june of 2003 and the car is currently in the shop again for the transmission problem. It has had a power steering pump failure, serpentine belt failure times 5 and now a computer problem. I have contacted chrystler corp at least 5 times regarding the problems with this car. Their answer is well, if you don't like the care trade it in.

Received recall notice from chrysler dealership with corporate program headquarters postmark notification # cjd62709 for 1998 plymouth voyager but neither customer service at number indicated or manufacturer has any information regarding problem. Driver(s) of this vehicle left clueless and is now safety hazard operating vehicle.

There seems to be more than 120,000 or more going bad.maybe a recall is in order.whats acceptable 1, 2 , 5 or 10 percent? mr

I was changing my front driver's side tire in my driveway using the jack supplied with my 1998 plymouth voyager.i had just removed the tire when the "jack screw" snapped in half.the van fell towards me, hitting me and knocking me backwards onto the pavement.the force of the impact caused me to break a molar in half requiring a cap to repair it.since then i have also experienced occasional blurred vision.i contacted daimler chrysler corp. Via their internet site on 02/10/03.i did not ever speak to a csr until 02/18/03.i was told that chrysler had reviewed my complaint and determined that the injuries were not a direct result of the defective jack and refused to assist me with my dental bills.further more they said my car was out of warranty, so they could not even replace my jack.i am an engineer by profession and thought they might want to analyze the failure, but i was told that since they have never heard of this happening before, they did not feel that it was a major issue.i was lucky that my injuries only involved a tooth and blurred vision.the next time somebody might be crushed.

A/c evaporater no good. They replaced them up to 1997. Rear latch has been replaced twice & it does not work again.hole rusting from the inside out just behind driver sliding door.

Consumer states vehicle was in accident vehicle was total, the seatbelts didn't lock and airbags didn't deploy. The listed items were on recall but the consumer was not notified until a month after accident but now vehicle has been destroyed. Please provide additional information. Ts

Dahsboard has cracked.

Consumer heard a loud noise from the vehicle, when the consumer pulled over, a pink substance had leaked from the vehicle.on each occasion , the transmission had gone out, and a loud noise was heard.the transmission differentialfailed.the keepler pin was found not properly hardened.scc

The headlight assembly has become very cloudy significantly reducing visibility at night thereby creating a safety hazard. I work in the automotive textile fabric division of a company that does business with chrysler, as well as other mfg. And our fabrics must meet stringent lightfastness requirements as specified by the oem. (by the way the seats look great)the plastics industry should be subject to even higher requirements as this poses a significant safety hazard. I consider chrysler liable for not having stringent enough requirments to prohibit this from happening. Just think $ 550 to fix this, replace headlight assembly is obsurd when the manufacture didn't do their homework!!

No summary. Dt

Vehicle was taken to the dealer for service.consumer feels that the service was incomplete because, after a week, vehicle started jerking whenever accelerator was pressed.vehicle was taken to another shop, and consumer was told thattransmission fluid was exceptionally low.less than a week after that diagnosistransmission completely stopped working.the dealer would not make repairs without consumer paying for them.

Airbag light is on, there is no horn/cruise control, etc.there is a recall for the clockspring.consumers vehicle is not included due to vin.

1998 plymouth voyager horn and cruise control stopped working and the airbag light is on it is now gonna cost me roughly $300 to havethe clock spring fixed.i feel that there should be a recall issued.

Air bag light illuminated while driving ,andhorn/cruise control wereinoperative. Vehicle was taken todealer, who informed consumer that the clock spring needed to be replaced. Also, this vehicle was not covered under recall due to vin.

Consumer states that after they brought their vehicle to the dealership to have the recall done for fuel leakage, the dealership stated that they had to order a special part to complete the recall and they will call the consumer when they received the part. The dealership has not gotten back in contact with consumer, and the vehicle is leaking fuel. Ts

Throttle linkage cable became frayed and stuck within the sheath.engine remained at high rpm, making it difficult to stop or turn.almost went through the back of my garage trying to stop.very unsafe situation which should be investigated and a recall instituted.high possibility of injury or death.

While driving on highway in the rain, started to turn onthe windshield wipers, and they failed.windshield wipers worked intermittently.contacted dealer.

Windshield wipers turn themselves on/off intermittently and without warning.occasionally windshield wipers will not turn on when engaged by driver.consumer feels that body control module is faulty. The radio was inoperative, the brake light on the dash board does not illuminate, the emergency brake switch had to be reconnected consumer was unable to open doors from the inside.jlg

My windshield wipers turn on and do not turn off despite having replaced the multifunction switch (by aaa service center upon advisement of chrysler dealer) and replacement of wiper motor with a mopar rebuilt motor while traveling. I currently have the power disconnected to the wiper motor and reconnect when it rains or snows. The wiper blades working on the dry windshield wears them out reduces visability.dt

While driving the vehicle windshield whipers will come and go off, without the driver putting them on.but when driver does cut windshield whipers on they will not work.please provide more details. Ts
