I have experienced 2 failures of the accessory drive belt tensioner on my 1995 plymouth voyager. The first failure occurred while i was operating the vehicle at about 10 mph. The belt tensioner assembly broke away from the mounting resulting in the loss of my power steering and nearly causing an accident. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer and a new belt tensioner put in. The service man told me that they had seen a lot of these belt tensioner failures. Recently, during a service visit to replace the faulty airbag on the vehicle, the service people reported that the belt tensioner was again "frozen" and needed to be replaced. When i asked whether they would replace the part for free, they told me to call chrysler customer service. I called chrysler customer service and they told me that they could not do anything for me, and that chrysler did not consider this problem to be a safety problem. I consider this a serious safety problem. It certainly was a safety issue when it failed on my vehicle the first time, and i could barely steer the vehicle. I have also seen at least one other near accident due to the same belt tensioner problem on anothe vehicle. I believe that this is a chronic problem with this vehicle and needs to be investigated.

Our 1995 plymouth voyager was serviced for nhtsa recall 99v113000 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment and within a couple of months after service theair bag light had come on .light had never been on previous to recall servicing . Returned vehicle years later (light on entire time) and requested to service the problem if related to recall nhtsa recall 99v113000 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment . Dealer has charged me $82 dollars to tell me that wiper motor needs replacement and additionally a cost of $247.90would be required to fix the problem.iwas informed that theair bags will not work until wiper motor is replaced. My request to investigate this claim under the recall action was ignored by staff/technicians. Recall was required for a design flaw due to the common fuse between the air bag and rear wiper motor unit, but repair does not include design repair .i am wondering what exactly is fixed under the recall.symptom isexact as nhtsa recall 99v11300 and manufacturer's recall 818/air bag deployment , but prestige chrysler dodge of longmont, co. Will not fix under recall and seems to have no concern for consumer safety.

I have a 1995 plymouth voyager that was found by my auto mechanic to be leaking fuel onto the exhaust manifold. The defective part was on recall for 1996 voyagers but not for my 1995 voyager eventhough its the same part, the fuel rail. I talked to chris in the recall center at 800-531-1403 and notified him of the part but he would do nothing to expand the recall to my car. There are thousands of 1995 voyagers like mine that have the possibility of catching fire because of this defective part but daimler-chrysler won't do anything about it. This is a case of gross negligence aside from the fact that they should refund my repair expenses.

The vehicle caught fire due to a defect in the fuel line.tt

Fuel return line runs very cl0se to the hot exhaust pipe.

While driving on the freeway the vehicle stalled. The dealer said that there was a problem with the fuel pump.

Fuel wasleakingfrom fuel tank at the interface of the fuel pump module attachment. This occurs whenever more than a half of fuel.

While driving automaticdoor lock locked the doors unexpectedly, then the dome light came on and the chime came on, indicating a doorwas opened.please provide further information and vin #.

Whenever making left or right turns, a dinging noise, like a bell, would sound for door. The locks would go up/down. Dimmer switch was used to turn off interior lights which came on/off on its own. This happened only when vehicle hit bumps or rough patch in road. The door ajar light stays on. Dome light comes on also. Has taken vehicle to dealer as of yet to check electrical system.

While driving passenger front door light will come on, showing that door is open even when it is closed. Dealer was contacted.please provide more information.

Consumer called complaining about structure problems.the hinges on the door were not strong enough to hold the door, and there wasa crack. Dealer andmanufacture were contacted, and stated that they were not responsible for it. Also, latch on the door was not working properly to the point that when they made a sharp curve the door came open.

When the door mechanism failed i took it to timberline and they could not fix it and said that i would have to have it fixed at a body shop.when i took it to the body shop they told me that they have had to replace approx. 6 of these mechanism on the same model of van as mine in the past year.they said that when it was built the mechanism should have had steel framework to adhere to and there was only a very light metal used to build it with.what would have happened it one of my children would have had the door come open or myself because the latch and lock failed.

Poor design of decklid latch. *tw

Driver's door lock failed to unlock.*aw

Sliding door on the right passenger's side does not have a latch or lock that keeps the door open or secure when occupants are entering or exiting the vehicle on incline areas. The consumer was hit very hard when the door closed on him.the consumer was also concerned about possible injury of his children.

I bought this van in 1998 and have had nothing but problems,i bought an extended warranty, but it expired when i hit 100,000 miles.i am still paying for it and know am paying fo repair bills.i have had problems with the transmission right after i bought it and now am having problems again, have also had pro. With the fuel system.and pro. With the drivers side and sliding door hinges or locks also brakes every time i turn around it's something else basicly "i bought a lemon"

I found that i experience a similar problem with door hinge craking resulting in door not closing properly.my father was able to fix with simple welding., but now i find i am not the only person to experience this.my friend has a similar 95 dodge caravan with this same problem on both door.i had it only on one. Now looking through the complaints i'm wodering if it may be a strutual problem intead of just wear and tear on the vehicle. Date is not accurat all i remember was that it was last year.the computer wouldn't let me proceed with out a full date input.

Consumer stated doors were defective. The frame where the hinges were attached cracked. This was happening arounddriver's side as well as the passenger' side doors. Because of the cracks doors would not lock, and could be opened involuntarily.

The sliding door latch broke, causing the vehicle's door to not shut all the way. Dealer has put a cord on the door to keep it from opening.

On april 14, 1999, the door latch failed, making it difficult (at best), to secure the driver's side door in the closed position. The door latch was replaced on 4/15. On may 2, the replaced door latch failed. Upon inspection by our mechanic, and a separate mechanic at a local auto body shop, we were told that this was caused by a design flaw in chrysler vehicles: that the door is too heavy for the sheet metal it is bolted to, that the sheet metal weakens and the door begins to come out of alignment, and that as the sheet metal continues to be stressed, it misaligns, causing the latch to fail to make contact correctly and eventually breaking the latch. Obviously this is a hazard as it is unsafe to drive when the door may come open suddenly, (as you are not immediately aware of what is going on with the door). Our mechanic and the mechanic at the body shop checked to see if the van had been recalled for repairs, as they see this type of repair frequently on chrysler products. Two dealerships were contacted and we were told the vehicle had not been recalled. The first repair cost about $60 (repairing the latch only). An estimate for the second repair is $331. Unfortunately we cannot wait for a recall to have it fixed. I hope that our experience will help save someone else the trouble we've had. If you have any suggestions for how we might deal with the manufacturer, i would appreciate it.i am happy to give you the vin number over the phone if you wish to contact me for further information. Thanks a bunch, diana baldwin

Without warning, pump bushing welded to converter hub, spun in pump housing, filling the transmssion with metal and shut down the vehicle.upon restarting, the vehicle made a loud siren-like noise.transmission required rebuilding costing $1400.

A vibration consistent with the vehicle's speed (similar to a defective wheel bearing) was detected prior to failure.the transmission locked up, and all fluid was lost throughout the engine compartment.this presented a potentially serious safety hazard to the driver, since this occured during the morning rush hour commute in the center lane of the freeway.the report from the service center indicated that the transmission was totally destroyed (very expensive repair!).

Transmission failure at 74,912 miles which requires replacement of the chrysler grand voyager's transmission at a cost of $1800.00.the transmission in my 1990 grand voyager also failed.the cost of that repair was paid by chrysler through a recall.chrysler has not offered to contribute to the cost of the 1995 grand voyager transmission repair.in addition, we have contacted two chrysler dealers regarding repair of the vehicle and they gave conflicting stories of how the transmission should be repaired and the frequency of transmission failures in grand voyagers.under the conditions i drive, i believe the grand voyager transmission should last over 100,000 miles.i am disappointed that chrysler does not build a reliable transmission for the grand voyager.sandy hoffstrom

This is a wide-spread problem with the voyager/caravan transmission.

Chrysler is manufacturing defective transmissions.they must be held accountable for all repairs on their defective parts.the transmissions should not fail at 50,000+ miles.many minivan owners have had to replace their transmissions.i personally know of two family members who had to go through this with minivans with less than 55,000 miles.

The transmission seal failed at 67,000 miles causing vehicle to loose traction without warning, and slip as though it was in neutral. The right front axle failed, causing loss of control when turning at 58,464 miles.

I want to correct what i had sent in on 05/09/2001. I had an incomplete model description.it should have read plymouth voyager.the correct search on the web browser of www.google.com and www.alltheweb.com is plymouth voyager automatic transmission problems. I'm again describing my problem with the automatictransmission and i want to emphasize that a large number of others have had similar experiences as shown by the web site complaints and by my neighbors experiences.my wife was driving on a major roadway when the transmission gears disentigrated aaand punctured a hole in the casing.the car lost all power and the fluid splattered over the roadway surface.she was very lucky no one collided with her.chrysler headquarters and the car dealertold me since the car ws past the 75000 mile warranty they would not help me.they wanted 2100 dollars to fix the problem.the dealer and the serice statiion the car was towed to told me this is a common problem with chrysler transmissions.the web sites m.

Auto-trans: after cranking up, could not shift into reverse, press gas pedal, would not move; suddenly, slip into reverse; lurch backwards.tt

For about 100 miles or so before total failure, we noticed a slight whining sound, plus some instances of slightly erratic shifting.a check of the transmission fluid showed it to be at the proper level.it looked clean, and had no burned smell.the transmission quit working at estelline, texas, on us 287. I had to call a towing service, and was towed to childress, texas.ther are no plymouth or chrysler dealers in childress, so we went to a local transmission shop. They were able to get the transmission repaired in about a week , at a cost of $1772.50.towing was $60. The mechanic said that the bushing in front pump apparently became loose and started spinning, causing very rapid wear, and damage to other parts.he had to install new front pump and forward drum assemblies, as well as other parts.i feel extremely unhappy about the expense, as well as the considerable personal inconvenience this incident caused.i have never abused the transmission, and have seen that it had normal maintenance, and i don't think it should fail at only 52000 miles.

Vehicle's automatic transmission jumps out of gear when driving between 40-45mph into neutral or low gear.also, intermittent failure of electrical system.

Without warning automatic transmission gears shattered and poked a hole in the casing causing a full loss of power. The problem has not been fixed since 1994 to present.

Unsafe seat belts. While driving, i reached down to pick up an item next to my seat. I accidentally touched the red button on the lower seat belt strap, and the seat belt released. Sliding side door falls off of 1995 plymouth voyager mini van at elementary school in mass. While students are getting on board, fortunatly no one is hurt thanks to the quick reflexes of driver who catches door before it hits the ground!this actually happened to me on 11-28-01 while i was picking up my son at elementary school. The defective part is part#04673202.(one of the outer races on the roller bearing was defective causing the hinge of the door to fly off the roller bearing track). Cost of part is $72.00. Labor to install part is 1-1/2 hours @$65/hour. I am asking chrysler to help me with the repair of this safety defect. I am recently unemployed due to the after effects of the september 11 tragedy in new york and can not afford to pay for the repair at this time. Can you help? i know that the last thing daemler chrysler wants is more negative publicity due to defective doors on their mini vans. I will probably buy the part myself and attempt to install it. Does any on know how?
