My girl friend and i wher voming home from portland,meon themaine turnpikeand she started getting tiredso she pulls in to the next rest area and i took over driving . As i started to gain speed turning out of the rest areaon to the turnpike i felt the steering wheel catch upand i had to give the steering wheel a good jurk to get the steering wheel to streghten up . Then i heard a snapabd the air bag light came on and i lost my horn and cruise control.when we got homethe next day i took the air bag out for fear it might go off.

Clock sping is a wire harness located in the steering column that controls the driver side air bag, horn & cruise contol . When damaged from no fault on part of the driver the horn will not work the air bag will not deploy when needed or might deploy without any impact . I feel that this is a safty defect that should be repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the consumer.

Consumer states that while driving the air bag light is on,the dealer said that there was a short in the computer.

Airbag light came on, and horn/cruise control stopped working. Dealer determined clock spring assembly needed to be replaced.

Dealership refused to send a mechanic to repair 3 recall notices, including recall 99v113000/ air bag failure; recall 97v148000/ seat belt failure, and 96v099ooo/ abs brake failure.authorized another mechanic to perform work to repairrecall, or provideconsumer withnecessary parts to repair the defects.consumer was informed thatdealership wasunder no obligation to perform these functions. The consumer had asked the manufacturer for assistance in repairing the steering wheel, the windshield wiper pivot and lift gate supprt bolts, because theparts were defective, but the manufacturer refused to help.

Consumer's vehicle was hit at 35 mph on front driver's side. Upon impact,front air bags did not deploy.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Consumer states that air bag indicator lightis inoperable, the light does not go off,giving the consumer the indication that the bag might deploy. Dealer says that air bag has to be replaced with a $500.00charge.

The transmission failure nearly caused by wife to be in an accident trying to get the van to the side of the road.my understanding is these types of failures are common, though chrysler is not admitting it.in addition, the mounts holding the transmission in place also required replacement.previously the engine mount on the van failed.failure of the transmission and motor mounts pose a serious safety concern for riders of the vehicle.the other failures, though costly and time consuming to repair, did not seem to pose a major safety risk.

Consumer requesteda rebate in the amount of $242.98 for the steering wheel assembly repairs due to a recall.consumer was informed the vehicle was not covered under recall due to the vehicle identification number.. There were other problems with the vehicle such as a malfunctioned air condition, driver's seat, transmission, and a paint defect.

The motor on the rear windshield wiper failed.i have had numerous system failures on this vehicle, including transmission, air conditioning, rack and pinionsteering.most of the failures were within the first couple of years of ownership.most were not of the ordinary variety.

While jacking the vehicle upthe jack collapsed, barely missing the consumer. The manufacturer was contacted, and stated that jacks aren't to be used that much.

1993 plymouth voyager brakes engaged while accelerating causing brakes to burn and get really hot. Upon inspection mechanic determined the master brake cylinder needed to be replaced. The consumer independent mechanic could not get a replacement master cylinder because the part had been recalled.the consumer could only have the replacement made at the dealer.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician there said the recall was on the pressure piston not the master cylinder.any part damaged by the recalled part was the responsibility of the consumer.the dealer replaced the boost pressure transducer and actuator.they also replaced some recalled parts.when the vehicle was returned to the consumer she noticed that the vehicle mpg was reduced and that the brakes felt different.the vehicle was returned to the dealer several times for brake problems.eventually the dealer replaced the master cylinder and everything was fine for a while.the brakes light illuminated an the consumer had to apply excessive for to tthe brake pedal to get the vehicle to stop.to avoid the hassel withthe dealer the consuerm purchased another vehicle.

C96v099000, campaign bulletin was for abs braking system, consumer was concerned because repairs were done, and he had no brakes,dealership charged consumer $217.21 for repair of a pump. Consumer stated that there was no problem with brakes, dealer replaced faulty accumulator.*yd

First fuel injector failed 07/14/99 and second failure occurred 12/30/2000.second failure included an injector as well as leaking fuel rail.

The left side of the gas tank hanger strap is cracked 3/4 of the way through and will fully fail shortly.this will result in the plastic gas tank dropping to the road.i feel this is a serious and hazardous condition.fire or other likely catistrophic failure will ensue.

When driving on an incline the vehicle will roll backwards withfoot offthe brake, just like it were a stick shift. Dealer contacted and aware of the problem, replaced the transmission and the problem still exists.

While getting the abs brakes repaired mechanic spotted that the axle assembly cracked.manufacturer'srecall ch8270was issued on axle assembly for this make/model and year.but this vehicle was not included due to vin.

#1: anti-lock brake light began intermittently to turn on. Brake pedal operation "feel" would change significantly. For a 30,000 mile sequence maintenance check-up after 60,000 miles was reached at the dealer. The problems of the brakes were reported. The service shop adised the brakes were checked, and found to be okay. Within a few days, the same problems appeared. The minivan was returned to the service department. This time they indicated, which they did not earlier, that there was a recall on the abs system (of which i was never notified) and the repairs would be made for free. Soon after, the same problems occurred. The vehicule was returned again to the same dealer service shop, the brakes inspected, and was told that the problem was related to a crack in a timing device attached to the front axle, and it could be replaced only by replacing the axle, involving over $800 charge. I refused the service, but was charged over $40 for "brake inspection". I am very upset with how this has been handled. Problem #2.after a passenger got out of the minivan from the front right seat, he shut the door and it did not latch. The problem was traced to the door weld to the car frame had failed. This appears to be a potential safety problem, and the service department advised that there had been several similar cases. However, chrysler refused to agree that the weld was a manufacturing defect and would not pay, in whole or in part, the cost of the repair. #3. A disagreeable odor is coming out of the airconditioning ducts, most strongly upon the first few minutes of operation. The service center claims that all they can do is mask the smell temporarily but it will come back. They have seen this with other vehicles as well. I am concerned if the source of the odor may represent harm to the health of the passengers.

For the past 6 months, the driver's seatbelt will lock so you can't pull it far enough to put on. Driver seatback failed completely to the rear. Seat back had over time progressively tilted further rearward, and adjustment was not possible to compensate. The right-most rail connected to the adjusting ratchet is cleanly broken, as if hacksawed. It likely was slowly cracking, resulting in the seat back tilting further rear-ward over several months. The metal crack itself is near a protrusion in the rail itself, about halfway towards the front, obviously a weak point (but normal usage?). A cursory web search found about a half-dozen similar incidents. I plan to contact the dealer/zone rep asap; this is clearly not a normal wear and tear issue. Thanks.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for repairs where the technician advised the contact that in order to perform the recall repairs, the contact would have to have the abs hydraulic control unit replaced first. The technician stated the abs hydraulic control unit was not covered under the recall. The contact stated the recall summary indicated that the abs hydraulic control unit could experience wear as a result of the defective component. My wife was backing the plymouth minivan when the abs brake system failed. The brake pedal was rockhard and both the abs and regular brake light were lit. The system failed again when the tow truck came to assist her. The vehicle was eventually moved to russ darrow chrysler plymouth of madison for repair.they could not duplicate the failure and would not replace the system withouta duplicated failure.we were told "we would have to drive it until the brakes failed again and then bring it back and they could fix it".when we complained and refused to take the vechicle they said that chrysler would not authorize the replacement of the system with a documented failure in thier tests.i contacted daimler chrysler at 800-853-1403 to register my request that the system be replaced and stated that we would not drive the vehicle as it was unsafewith another potential failure.contacts there include dave pearl2-1-99; tina 2-2-99;ron dandy 2-9-99 &2-10-99. Were told chrysler would not replace the abseven though there was an extented warranty because of recall #685.

1993 plymouth voyager brakes engaged while accelerating causing brakes to burn and get really hot. Upon inspection mechanic determined the master brake cylinder needed to be replaced. The consumer independent mechanic could not get a replacement master cylinder because the part had been recalled.the consumer could only have the replacement made at the dealer.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician there said the recall was on the pressure piston not the master cylinder.any part damaged by the recalled part was the responsibility of the consumer.the dealer replaced the boost pressure transducer and actuator.they also replaced some recalled parts.when the vehicle was returned to the consumer she noticed that the vehicle mpg was reduced and that the brakes felt different.the vehicle was returned to the dealer several times for brake problems.eventually the dealer replaced the master cylinder and everything was fine for a while.the brakes light illuminated an the consumer had to apply excessive for to tthe brake pedal to get the vehicle to stop.to avoid the hassel withthe dealer the consuerm purchased another vehicle.

I was driving in granite city about 1 1/2 hours from centralia my town when the abs and emergency brake lights came on and my brake pedal got very stiff and i can barley stop. I had the abs repaired on a recall. Since the recall i have had problems with the system. The lite continuosly goes on and the brakes would go from abs to manual several times on ice and rain. #1: anti-lock brake light began intermittently to turn on. Brake pedal operation "feel" would change significantly. For a 30,000 mile sequence maintenance check-up after 60,000 miles was reached at the dealer. The problems of the brakes were reported. The service shop adised the brakes were checked, and found to be okay. Within a few days, the same problems appeared. The minivan was returned to the service department. This time they indicated, which they did not earlier, that there was a recall on the abs system (of which i was never notified) and the repairs would be made for free. Soon after, the same problems occurred. The vehicule was returned again to the same dealer service shop, the brakes inspected, and was told that the problem was related to a crack in a timing device attached to the front axle, and it could be replaced only by replacing the axle, involving over $800 charge. I refused the service, but was charged over $40 for "brake inspection". I am very upset with how this has been handled. Problem #2.after a passenger got out of the minivan from the front right seat, he shut the door and it did not latch. The problem was traced to the door weld to the car frame had failed. This appears to be a potential safety problem, and the service department advised that there had been several similar cases. However, chrysler refused to agree that the weld was a manufacturing defect and would not pay, in whole or in part, the cost of the repair. #3. A disagreeable odor is coming out of the airconditioning ducts, most strongly upon the first few minutes of operation. The service center claims that all they can do is mask the smell temporarily but it will come back. They have seen this with other vehicles as well. I am concerned if the source of the odor may represent harm to the health of the passengers.

(dennis) stated:(1) vehicle master cylinder was full of brake fluid and functions properly; (2) the brake pump did not cause the problem, and there is adequate hydraulic pressure in system; (3) the faulty pressure switch shuts down the brake system because it erroneously reads low hydraulic pressure although there is actually adequate pressure; (4) the switch fails only intermittently, hence the brake system may work properly for a period of time before the switch could fail again without warning; (5) the reason the faulty switch shuts down the brake system is due to system design, and there is no way for the mechanical/hydraulic system to engage the brakes when the switch erroneously reads low pressure; and (6) chrysler will not pay for repair because it is a faulty electronic switch, rather chrysler will pay only for mechanical pump (hydraulic) problems.i authorized the repair to be completed and will call chrysler customer assistance "800" line tomorrow to request that chrysler reimburse me.my complaint is summarized as follows. 1993 plymouth voyager.manufacture defect with the paint. All the vans made in that year and 1994 are peeling and rusting in the same places. I feel the company neglected to recall these vans to be repainted to save them money. My van is in good condition and i would like for it to be property repainted up to standard.

On 1/9/99 the passenger door of my 1993 voyager flew open as i was turning a corner.my son was in his seatbelt and was therefore not injured. The reason the door opened was a latch failure.the door latch had torn away form the sheet metal on the door.the door latches on both doors have repeated failed to engage properly.usually this was remedied by closinf the door again.i have brought this to the attention of the dealers during the warrany period.i was told that the problem was "loose screws" in the door latch assembly.the screws were tightened and sometimes replaced but the problem persisted.now i'm told that the problem is really due to improper door alignment.this caused the latches to loosen.however after repeated operations in this condition it also caused the metal around the door latch to fail. The metal is ripping around the drivers door latch as well. The cast to repair is $250 per door.chrysler will not assist with repairs since the car is out of warranty. (even though the problem was brought to their attention during warranty and misdiagnosed. This may be a serious safety problem.

Clock sping is a wire harness located in the steering column that controls the driver side air bag, horn & cruise contol . When damaged from no fault on part of the driver the horn will not work the air bag will not deploy when needed or might deploy without any impact . I feel that this is a safty defect that should be repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the consumer.

Transmission blew out when going up on a ramp off the freeway at 50mph (18 nov 96). Taken vehicle to transmission shop for repairs. The 2nd time, had foot on pedal & vehicle did not go, then it suddenly accelerated.

Vehicle experienced failure of the recall component (99v-189) windshield wipers prior to recall notification,failure of the wipers caused loss of visibility resulting in vehicle collision. *mjs

Windshield wiper pivot drive arm is not properly connected to pivot shaft, causing it to fall. Thisvehicle vin# is not included under recall 99v189000 although it has the same defect.

The windshield wiper motor had to be replaced because itwent out while in motion during some rainy weather.

Driving vehicle in wet conditions and turned on the windshield wipers,and they started half-way and then stopped.

The motor on the rear windshield wiper failed.i have had numerous system failures on this vehicle, including transmission, air conditioning, rack and pinionsteering.most of the failures were within the first couple of years of ownership.most were not of the ordinary variety.

Ea 97020;windshield wipers malfunctioned, causing the wipers to be inoperative.dealer replaced wiper motor.

You name it, it has broken.the rear wiper motor quit in the middle of use.when it rains and i turn right, the whole van just stops.right now, can't turn right without constant noise and jerking.have had the front axle replaced 4 times.something keeps tearing it up.i was told motor mounts, but that is expensive to replace.i was also told the engine, the transmssion, the wheels.i get different stories from each person.can't contact plymouth manufacturer.car stalls between gears then jerks into next gear.people at dodge place where i bought van are not nice, and won't even look at vehicle without charging 50.00.they overcharge for everything.wish the thing would blow up so i could get a different vehicle, and not lose so much money.many, many problems with this year make and model.know many people with exact problem.manufacturer needs to replace at his cost!!!i do not know all the names of exact components to place on questionnaire to give more help.i would be happy to discuss this case with anyone.

While going through a car wash the hub cap on the right front had come off. The second time went to the same car wash and the hub cap came off again. Consumer feels that there is a defect in the hub cap, and it's a faulty hub cap.
