The air bag light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.consumer will contact the dealer the next day.

The contact owns a 2000 plymouth grand voyager.the air bag warning indicator light illuminated.when the vehicle was stopped, all of the gauge needles in the instrument panel would fluctuate up and down.the dealer serviced the vehicle for nhtsa campaign id number 04v480000 (air bags).the air bag light dimmed for six months, but then illuminated again.the dealer stated that the power distributor failed and they replaced the pdc.the failure mileage was 56,000 and current mileage was 105,000.

There is a recall on plymouth voyagers 1998 and older doing the same things my 2000 is doing, which is not under recall.the specific problems are:the airbag light has been on constantly for 6 weeks and for the past month the horn does not honk and the cruise control doesn't turn on.i'm very concerned about what exactly is wrong with the airbags, now that i know there is a recall issue for older models.i have not attempted to have it repaired, because i cannot afford to take it to the dealer for repair.*la

While driving the cruise control and horn stopped working.the fuses were checked but none of them were bad.after that the air bag lights came on. The vehicle was taken to the dealer.*ph *nlm

Cruise control, horn does not work -this was within 30 days of each other. Airbag light comes on then goes off again. No accident caused this to occur.

There was a recall on my van for the clockspring. I took it to hayes chrysler, and they verified that it was under warrantyto have it replaced at no cost. Just wanted to report this recall to be added to the vin history. Hayes will be repairing it within the next couple of days.

While slowing with trafficanother vehicle came from left hand lane at about 45 mph and hit consumer's vehicleon therear. Then, consumer hit car in front of him. Upon impact, driver's seat broke and fell backwards. The passenger seat broke too.the air bags failed to deploy.

The vehicle ran off the road while driving 35-45 mph into a fence and then into a wooden pole and neither frontal air bag deployed.the consumer received a head injury with 6 staples and other small cut to the head and face.consumer also cut right hand in the accident.*tc

I was involved in an accident on the date given.the other party involved pulled out in front of me.i hit her at about 45 mph.the main impact was around the location of my left headlight, driver's side and front.my airbag did not deploy, my seatbelt did not lock and restrain me and my back seat collapsed upon impact.chrysler has sent an engineer to look at the van and i still have not heard back from them.the estimate is still not complete by stan's auto body and the total is already close to $5000.i had to seek medical treatment due to the safety features not performing.i was diagnosed as having a concussion, a contusion and a minor neck injury.as of today i have had a severve headache and some memory loss since the accident.

While driving/parkingclock spring failed. This caused the horn not to work, and the air bag light to illuminate intermittently. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Clockspring malfunction-which has led to failure of horn, airbag, and cruise control.*la

Consumers four year old daughter is able to pull the shoulder harness clips for the integrated child seat apart without releasing it.both of these clips can easily be pulled apart on either intergrated seats.once consumer discovered this, chrysler was notified and two new clips were ordered.the clips were installed but they too experience the same defect.*jg

Consumer states thier four year old child is able to pull the retainerclip and losen the harness straps and get out of the seat. Dealer notified and replace dthe clip and the problem is still reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

Consumer states vehicle caught on fire while it was parked, insurance said the cause of loss is unknown but the only thing they know is that it was an electrical fire (claim# 40-2413-995).*yd

The electrical system failed. However, while driving windshield wipers continuously stayed on,but odometer and speedometer were inoperable. Tookvehicle to dealerseveral times. The inside lights will not go off. Dealer stated that there was a defective part which they had installed in the vehicle. The vehicle had to be taken back again.

I have a 2000 chrysler van that has a broken clock spring.it was repaired under warranty before the mfg warranty expired once already.the chrysler website says that there is no recall on this item even though it can affect your horn and airbag safety equipment.i would like to see chrysler repair this defect at no charge.

This letter is regarding a manufacturer defect in the 2000 plymouth grand voyager and 2000 chrysler town and country vans. There is an issue with the vehicles in wet weather.when it rains and the driver goes through water, the vehicles shut themselves down completely. Lights turn off, power steering is arrested, and the driver has to coast to a stop. This has happened several times to my parents, and more than once, they have had to secure the services of a towing company to get the vehicle(s) home or to a repair shop. This has happened at night on two-lane highways, leaving them stranded in pitch-black darkness. These are the only vehicles that my parents have to drive to and from work, which is an hour and a half away from home. My father has visited the chrysler-dodge dealership several times, and they told him that this is a large-scale problem with these particular models of vans. They are well aware of the issue, but there has not been a full-scale recall on the vehicles. There is a kit to fix the problem. The kit is over $300, and the onus is on the consumer to purchase the kit and have it installed. My dad spent over $700 to have the kit installed on both vans. This manufacturer defect is dangerous not only to the drivers of the vehicles, but to other motorists. Please consider doing a national recall for this factory defect.

The vehicle will miss or turn off at random . Both when it is stopped or in motion at speed.the tachometer will fluctuate erratically or simply drop to zero. As of yet there has not been an accident (thanks in part to the alertness of other drivers). The dealer has taken numerous readings and exchanged numerous parts, including plugs and wires, control modules, neutral switch and fuel pump and filter etc. Still has the problem.

Drove about three miles andparked vehicle.then, was informed that vehicle was on fire. According to fire department fire had started because an electrical short. The vehicle was totaled and manufacturer is to replace it

My 2000 chrysler grand voyager's engine burst into flames and almost the whole front end of my car, including my dash board and part of my front seats were burned up.the windshield and the windows on the passenger and driver's side in the front blew out.i suffered from smoke inhalation and did end up going to the emergency room.i also have pulled something in my back and arms that has made my arms from the elbows to the hands go painfully numb and prickly.in addition, i seemed to have caused a hemorrage in my uterus.my period is not due for about a week or a bit more.it is labor day weekend and i haven't been able to see a regular doctor yet.i actually have called the dealer where i purchased the vehicle and they say there aren't any recalls on 2000 grand voyager, they also said they wouldn't sell any vehicle that hadn't had the recall issue taken care of before being put on the lot--also, when i checked on the daimlerchrysler website and put the requested section of vin numbers into their little checkup box--it said--"no incomplete recalls or customer satisfaction notifications exist."--i have checked the internet in several places before i found this site and found that 2000 grand voyagers with 3.3 l. Engines were part of the recall!!!!the first thing i saw when i stopped the car because of all the smoke was something dripping in flames from the front of the bottom of the engine.

Car was parked for 6 hoursand an electrical fire started. Fire was caused by a fuse related to stop lamps/ airbags andmemory fuse.

After parkingvehicle and returningin morning there was evidence thatvan caught onfire and burneddashboard.complete dashboard was melted, includingvents.

I own a 2000 grand voyager van. I have been dealing with the serpentine belt falling off so much in the history of ownership that i am frustrated beyond belief. This problem occurs mostly when it rains and i have spent $2000 plus dollars in tows charges and mechanic services charges to replace the serpentine belt, tensioner with pulley and idler pulley. I feel that the dodge/plymouth vehicle manufacturers have known of this problem and have let consumers suffer and struggle with this safety issues with no intervention on their part. I am a physically challenged person who uses a wheelchair for my mobility and the van was modified to accept a ramp system, with no modifications to the chassis or engine compartment. I have been left broken down on the side of the road or highway many times.

My van has been accelerating when i am (applying) putting on my brake to stop, making my van rev, skip & jerk.this has been going on for over 2 months

The serpentine belt comes off every time i go thru water. I can not drive the van anytime it rains or the roads are wet! my daughter in law has the same van and the same problem! once the belt comes off i loose all power, steering, brakes. Putting me and any passengers in danger!

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and without any warning the engine will start racing and it will be hard for the consumer to control the vehicle. Dealer has been notified.tswhile in motion the vehicle emitted a loud whining noise followed by evident t jerking and lurching.the transmission intermittently locks in gear and will not shift.*jg

While driving the vehicle leaked oil.*nlm

In wet conditions, the serpentine belt of our 2000 chrysler grand voyager minivan comes off with no warning.the problem is intermittent and unpredictable (though always wet).when it does slip off, the driver is left in a deadly situation as all power steering is lost.this has happened to us approximately 10 times over the past year or so.we've replaced the belt twice, the pulley wheel, the tensioner, and the motor mounts.we've also had a plate installed under the motor to try to keep road moisture off of the belt system.i've now learned that this is so common a problem that the gates corporation has manufactured a repair/replacement belt system for these vans (which i just purchased).it's interesting that the gates corporation acknowledges the problem, but the chrysler/dodge company hasn't issued a recall or offered any type of recourse for customers.this is a very dangerous issue.we've been lucky so far that no accidents or injuries have resulted.

Two serpentine belts have broken within a month. Dealer notified. When the serpentine belt failed for the third time, the dealer replaced the entire tensioner assembly and no problem has occurred since then.

Vehicle caught fire while parked, claim # 40-2413-995 .nlm

On two occasions the serpentine belt slipped off their pulleys while driving, which left my car without power steering, brakes, cooling, a/c, or alternator. I had to stop and have the car towed in. Dealer could not provide a preventative repair to keep the belt from slipping off again. Finally, gates had a kit in feb. 2007 that i had installed that is supposed to cure this problem. This is an epidemic problem for this vehicle.

While driving vehicle shut down. Consumer was unable to restart vehicle. Lights appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer had the vehicle towed to dealer for inspection. Consumerinformed mechanic that this problem occurred more than once and had not been resolved.

The contact owns a 2000 plymouth grand voyager.while driving at various speeds, the vehicle began to overheat and the power steering failed several times.the vehicle was pulled over and the serpentine belt had to be replaced each time.there were no recalls for this failure.the current mileage was 122,000 and failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 03/26/08.*ljthe consumer stated he replaced the tensioner belt and the idler pulley.

While driving the bolt that holds the serpentine belt tentioning pulley shears off causing it to spring into the engine compartment. This causes lack of power steering, increased pressure needed for braking. This part may break fuel lines brake lines or struts, it may also lead to motor damage. My mechanic said that the bolt shears off periodicly with no warning even though chyrsler company has no tsb for this part.

Serpentine belt broke, and without prior warningvehicle shut off. There were no lights or power .vehicle had to be towed. Dealership was aware ofproblem.

My wife was driving our 2000 ply.grand voyager, she heard a loud noise, steering was extremely difficult for her.she got it parked.when i arrived i found the belt tensioner had fallen off,the mounting bolt had sheared off.upon that happening it broke the plastic power steering pulley.obviously this design and part are not up to standard.this part should be made better,3 years for a tensioner is not enough considering everything is run off of this belt, loss of power steering being a safety concern.

This 2000 plymouth grand voyager has repeated failure of power steering due to the serpentine belt slipping off (mainly during rainy days).on the first occasion, the shop replaced the belt and splash guard.the second time, the shop replaced the belt tensioner.the third time, the shop replaced the harmonic balancer pulley.the fourth time, the shop put the belt back on the van, but could not find anything else wrong with the belt or pulleys.loss of power steering is dangerous!(besides, we did not get this car only for driving on sunny days.)

Everytime it rains and i run over a puddle, the belt comes off and the van becomes not drivable. I can't turn the wheel and the warning lights starts to flash and the van goes dead. I have to pay $50 {not including towing} to get it fixed everytime. I don't understand how it isn't a defect. It will just stop in the middle of the street or freeway after a few seconds. It's very costly and how could something like this be overlooked? i get scared everytime it rains.

2000 chrysler grand voyager, 3.3 l. The serpentine belt slipped off during heavy rain while i was on the tollway in plano. I lost the powering wheel immediately, luckily i was near to the exit and was able to park my car on the service road. This defect of this car is so dangerous and a recall is needed. I checked from internet, the problem always happens during snowy or rainy day, that makes this problem more deadly for drivers and passengers. I will not buy this chrysler's car till they take action on this problem.

I have a 2000 chrysler grand voyage, currently with 136000 miles on it.any time there seems to be a bit of a wet condition, that leads to the serpentine belt coming off.it happened on 3/12/2007, in nov 2006, in sept 2006, in aug 2006, during the summer of 2005, and summer of 2004(original belt).with the number of systems controlled by that belt, this is a safety hazard.the reports seem to be that the belt is very prone to slipping off.in the nov 2006 repair, the shop said i needed a water pump because the bearings were worn and the shaft was out of alignment.i wonder if that could have been caused by the serpentine belt walking, putting odd stresses on the shaft.a large washer, part of a repair kit for the problem, was installed on the tensioner in september, but that has not ended the problem.it's overly sensitive to wet conditions - which at times simply cannot be avoided.

Serpentine belt broke on the way home from work. Belt broke 2 other times also. Car was into dealer on 12/10/03 for this and knocking noise. They fixed knocking noise but did not look at belts. On 2/11/03 the belt tensioner was replaced by firestone. The new on looks nothing like the original but the belts have not broken since.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 25 mph, the vehicle would not respond when the accelerator was depressed.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, who determined the transmission and catalytic converter need to be replaced.

Crossover pipe connecting manifold to exhaust developed a hole back in august 2004. Part was ordered from chrysler dealer end of august, have not received it yet. The consumer was told that there were 1300 crossover pipes on back order and chrysler was redesigning the part.the consumer wanted to know if there was any danger of exhaust fumes coming into the vehicle while driving or idling.the consumer would like to know if there should be a recall since there appears to be an inordinate number of parts on back order.*tc

Our 2000 chrysler grand voyager's a/c broke at less than 29000 miles.the warranty ran out just 2 months.its evaporator had to be replaced.the full cost to repair was $1200.the dealer wanted us to pay $530 at first.after several phone calls, the dealer made us pay $259.chrysler denied that their 2000 mini-van evaporators are defective.we think they are defective.an average evaporator should not fail at 29000 miles.we searched the web and found that other chrysler models have had evaporator problems.we also found that there is a secret or good-will warranty dealing with a/c evaporator problems.

Strong musty, moldy odor from ac.dealer sprayed disinfectant into vents,ok for one day.odor same as before. Have tried to run ac to eliminate the odor but it always returns.

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and no warning the fuel tank had crack causing fluid to leak out. Dealer notified. Ts

The consumer smelled a fuel odoronce vehicle came to a complete stop.the problem was corrected when a specially ordered fuel rail system was placed in. *sc

Van caught fire in the engine, on the driver's side, very likely as a result of o ring failure at fuel rails-not part of recall issued on september 9, 1999.

Nhtsa recall 00-v-268-000: vehicle description:mini vans built with 3.3l and 3.8l engines have fuel rails with nitrole rubber o-ring seals that can degrade over time.fuel leakage from the underhood fuel injection fuel rail could result, increasing the likelihood of a vehicle fire.

My transmission has gone out on my vehicle and when it was in the repair shop there where two other vehicle the same year make and model with the same transmission problems not to mention one of my sisters co-workers with the same vehicle just had hers fixed is there any way you can look into this i do feel it would be a safety recall beings if my children where in the vehicle and it broke down on the side of the road and transmissions have been know to start on fire if they start too go out also when this happened i was at a stop lightat a busy intersection and caused a big traffic jams do to my vehicle not shifting.

Transmission gear switches from drive to neutral while driving. This happens when first starting and when driving about 15-20 mph. On january 19, 2001 dealer replaced transmission range sensor. But this did not remedy problem.

While making a "u" turn there was a loud crunching noise and the van would not move but the engine was running. 10/30/03 knocking noise coming from engine. Took to firestone in december after it got extremely loud. Was informed to go to dealer as they could not find the issue. 12/10/03 chrysler replaced flywheel. Was informed that the delay in repairs was because 2 other replacement flywheels had cracked in the same fashon. I found no recalls for this issue. I do not have the old flywheel nor did i see the damaged one.

Email from constituent re his concerns about the quality of chrysler minivans, the transmission problem he has with his 2000 plymouth grand voyager; feels there should be a recall.*njthe cosnumer noticed transmission fluid on the ground. The mechanic informed the consumer there was a pin a chrysler transmission that comes loose. They also said the pin in the linkage for the differential shoots out very fast and ruins everything in its path.

Vehicle pulls right while accellerating. Replaced was the transmission, power steering rack, axles, capers, etc..(too numerous to mention). Alignments, swapping tires, etc, did not resolve the problem.filed under lemon law, chrysler is refunding purchase price. Vehicle is not fixable per dealership and chrysler.

While driving our 2003 plymouth grand voyager (with 72000 miles) we heard a loud bang from under the front of the car. Transmission fluid was found under the car. We had the car towed to the dealership and learned the transmission pin had broken.we were informed this is a common problem, more than 30 remanufactured transmissions are on back order.the cost of the reparis is significant and we cannot be guaranteed when the parts wil become available.i called chrysler/plymouth to determine if there was a recall and there is not. In their opinion, it is not a significant issue.how do we, as consumers, make this issue known to ensure a recall notice is issued and the proper repairs are made? god forbid this problem occurred on a busy highway!

Why would a dealer put a "used transaxle" in a "new" vehicle and take a chance of having such a critical component as a vehicle speed sensor using an old component that could cause such a severe action as to injure someone or many people?the chrysler dealership service manager could not answer this question. I think i know the answer it must be cost.

From day one of getting this van i have had problems with repairsthe last straw happened on 03/11/03 . My transmission hoses cracked and lost all the transmission fluid on a 2000 chrysler grand voyager se. I noticed a problem last year but repair shop said they didn't see the problem. Now i have to pay $$$$ to have it fixed and other repairs at that facility were missed to. *nlm

Just a minute or so after entering the mass turnpike, we heard a very loud bang, followed a few seconds later by a similar bang.we knew there were no potholes on the mass turnpike, so after i immediately pulled off to the side of the turnpike, i inspected all four tires, which were fine.i then noted that transmission fluid was pouring onto the surface of the road.the vehicle had to be towed from the highway to the garage.today i learned that a pin in the differential/ transmission unit had come loose, and that a larger pin therefore fell into the differential / transmission unit, where it was sheared in two and tore the aluminum casing around the differential / transmission unit to shreds.my mechanic said that he has seen at least ten vehicles with similar problems, and the dealership people indicated that this is a well-known problem with dodge caravans.if so, why hasn't daimlerchrysler had to recall these vehicles???i feel fortunate only in that it was me rather than one of my teenagers who was driving when this occurred.

The car was driving fine all along.then in the everning when i started to drive, i noticed the transmission can't shift up and the speedometer is gone, and the transmission warning light turns on.dealer called back and wanted to charge $150 for diagnostic service because they claimed to have 3 problems.obviously this is all related so trying to rack up on diagnostic is noticed.then they reported that the problem was a malfunction transmission control module which also shorted out the input and output speed sensors.the total repair bill is $600.and the car has only 52k miles.spoke to chrsyler customer assistance.they do not admit it is a component or design defect. And they will not reimburst or pay for the repair.

Consumer was sitting in line to pay her tow fee. Afterwards she stopped in line to let another vehicle get in front of her. And without prior warning, a tractor trailer hit consumer's vehicle.upon impact, driver's sideseat broke and twisted and thew her betweenpassenger's seat.dealership was aware ofproblem.

The removable head rests in my2000 chrysler grand voyager have a design flaw.the metal supports that extend into the padding are now protruding through that padding, but not through the outer vinyl cover,in the event of an accident, the passengers head will make contact with the metal and likely receive injuries from it.the headrests have been turned around backwards to prevent such an occurrence, though they are now not adjustable and will only provide head/neck support to a child.my van contains 4 of these headrests.i have owned the vehicle for 4 years and all of them have deteriorated during this time.

While slowing with trafficanother vehicle came from left hand lane at about 45 mph and hit consumer's vehicleon therear. Then, consumer hit car in front of him. Upon impact, driver's seat broke and fell backwards. The passenger seat broke too.the air bags failed to deploy.

The steel brake lines rusted out and start leaking brake fluid, vehicle was unable to stop.nearly cause an accident.

Vehicle is a 2000 chrysler grand voyager.brake pedal was pushed during normal vehicle operation and pedal became "soft" with no resistance.vehicle was towed to repair facility and diagnosis indicated rusty brake lines were the cause of the failure.

I've owned this vehicle since november 2000 and i've taken it to the dealership on several different occasions for the constant squeaking in the brakes. I was told every time that the brakes were fine, but the noise still continues. Have there been any complaints or recalls on the brake system for these vehicles. So far there have been no accidents or fatalities. However, i do believe that there is more to the noise in the brakes than just the fact that the pads have metal in them, which is what the dealership says to me every time i take it in for service. My other chief complaint is that the van had a chrysler name plate on it, but it wasn't a caravan it turned out to be a plymouth voyager. Is that legal? had i known that it was a plymouth i never would have purchased it.*nlm

Consumer states that while driving brakes grind and when braking pedal goes to the floor.consumer states brakes pads have been changed every three months.please provide any further information. Ts

When driving my van the dash check engine light comes on, the brake warning light comes on, and the abs light comes on.when stopping at a red light the rpm, odometer, and fuel gauges drop off as if you have shut the car off.these gauges will not come back on until after you have taken off and reached speeds of 10 to 25 mph.intermidentally the gauges including the speedometer will quit at various speeds and will not come back on until basically it gets ready to you never know 1 minute or 5 minutes.i am concerned about driving this vehicle because i don't know when these lights are coming on because of this problem or if they are on because they have a valid reason to be on.i have taken the vehicle to the frank fletcher dodge for repair and they changed a computer the 2nd time and told me they can't duplicate the problem for most of the isues.i take them for a drive and the problem is still there.i have not been able to get chrysler to show any real concern other than tell me i should be patient with electrical problems.my patience has expired and i am worried about driving an unsafe car.if you could please help me i would appreciate it.

Front disc brake pad (specifically the exterior pad on the left side of the vehicle in my case) wears very fast relative to the rear at a rate of once every 10k or fewer miles for the front versus once in 125k miles for the rear. My problem is so severe that i have to watch wear closely and will swap the left front pads with the right front pads to keep from having to get a new set every 10k miles. Chrysler mechanic inspected brakes and said that everything was moving correctly but suggested i change rotors and brake pads. I told him i just did within the last 10k miles.. He suggested i use chrysler products. I told him the oe was chrysler and they too had the same problem. Have watched other chysle/dodge mini-vans like the grand voyager, voyager and grand caravan on the road and have noticed the same wear (as it permanently stains the front hub caps with brake dust and rust while other hub caps don't get stained) . Rear brakes are essentially not engaging and stopping the car. Safety concern- several times i had trouble stopping as the front brakes overheated (could smell them smoking) and the brake pedal faded. Have climbed up on other cars at stop lights as the car does not stop in the normal distance. Several near misses on rear end collisions.

There would be a loud noise coming from the front brake pads. Dealership repaired the problem five times, but problem recurred.

Chrysler grand voyager 2000rear brake shoes seize up after parking car overnight.this is the second time we had to call a tow truck to service our vehicle.after the first incident (note: we were not using the parking brake!) the rear brake shoes continued to seize up but we were able to get the car moving by driving forward (often hearing a small or large clunk) and then reversing.since that time i opened the rear brake drum, inspected the pads and replaced all the springs.this latest incident prompted me to write the nhtsa.the mechanic that came to service the vehicle was able to use a winch and metal bar to release the driver side rear brake which was seized.the mechanic shared that this was the 9th! such fix he had to do on a "caravan" this summer.when asked, our dealer even mentioned that these vehicle rear brakes tend to seize up...what is going on hear?though there was no accident, it certainly seems worthy of some from of recall...sven trenholm

Master cylinder is leaking brake fluid. The manster cylinder has been replaced at least 3 times in the past 4 years.

While driving down a steep hill the brakes went to the floor and the red "no brake" light came on.i was going around 30 miles an hour and luckily was in the country.i drove into a farmers field and put on the emergency brake.the dealership replaced the brake equipment including the master cylinder even though nothing was showingon their computer.a few days later i was driving home from work and came to a stop sign, put on brakes and they went to the floor again.i hit the vehicle in front of me.this problem doesn't occur all the time and they are not able to recreate the problem.i am waiting to see what happens with this from the dealer and their insurance co.i will also most likely file a complaint with daimler-chrysler.this vehicle was a lemon buy back for braking problems that were supposedly fixed in 2000.

Driving in the rain made the power steering belt come off. The result was i was unable to steer the van and had to sit on the side of the road. We had to get a shop to come and get the car and put the belt back on.

The serpentine belt comes off every time i go thru water. I can not drive the van anytime it rains or the roads are wet! my daughter in law has the same van and the same problem! once the belt comes off i loose all power, steering, brakes. Putting me and any passengers in danger!

I have a 2000 plymouth grand voyager...it was raining and all of a sudden while making a turn, the steering wheel locked up...i had my children in that car and it was very scary. Thank goodness i was able to turn it enough to pull into a walgreens, but i had to have it towed and get the serpentine belt replaced. This was awful!

While driving in a parking lot between 5-10 mph vehicle lost all steering capabilitydue to a bolt, which held the pulley in place, was never tightenedat the assembly plant.unsecured bolt damagedthe crankshaft. Vehicle currently at dealer. Please provide any further details.

My 2000 chrysler grand voyager (3.0l engine) has repeated issue with losing its power steering belt in wet conditions (driving through puddles as shallow as 2 inches).this makes the vehicle become difficult to control.since this happened to me twice in one week (and i had just had the system inspected and a new belt put on before it happened the 2nd time) i contacted several local dealers and asked if they were aware of and had a solution for this issue.one dealer told me "stay out of puddles."all the dealers i contacted said this was a "very common issue with the model" and that they did not have any fix for the issue.i searched online and discovered that a large number of vans from the late 90s share this design issue.i also found some aftermarket products that may fix the issue.i feel strongly that the manufacturer should find a solution and provide this solution at their dealers before this issue causes further breakdowns and accidents.it is likely that many accidents have already resulted from a loss of power steering related to this issue, but may not have been linked to this issue because:speeds tend to be lower in wet conditions - especially when going through puddles.if colliding with fixed object often driver wouldn't report it to avoid ticket & insurance premium hikes.also, if the accident is reported they may blame the collision or belt wear as the cause for the steering loss.

Driving 20mph from a stop sign whensteering wheel locked up. Had vehicle towed to dealership. Mechanic indicated power steering unit & system was replaced due to being defective. Since system was replaced steering locked up while going 45mph. Vehicle again towed to dealership where mechanic tried to repair it again.

A snapping sound can be heard and felt intermittently eminating from the steering column under various conditions including: starting from a stop, braking, turning, slight bumps in the road, when the transmission shifts gear.the steering column in this vehicle is the subject of a daimlerchrysler technical service bulletin.autofair chrysler plymouth repaired the steering column twice.after the second repair the noise disappeared for two months, then returned and has grown progressively worse.autofair chrysler plymouth is no longer in business.carlson chrysler plymouth of concord, nh and daimlerchrysler corporation are now refusing to repair the vehicle.the vehicle has a 3 year/36,000 mile and an extended 7 year/75,000 mile maximum care warranty.the second problem, a defective constant velocity joint, was the subject of an article in a local newspaper on march 25, 2001.a copy of this article can be provided if desired.i don't believe this problem has been publicized nationally.the defective constant velocity joints can be found in at least 1991 through 2000 chrysler/dodge/plymouth minivans (and perhaps other models).the condition is often misdiagnosed as a bad rim or tire.the article referred to in the concord monitor provides a terse, articulate description of the problem.as the constant velocity joint deteriorates the problem manifests itself as a high speed vibration and eventually a bizarre wobble wherein the vehicle rocks violently from side to side.the problem was so bad in our 1999 plymouth grand voyager that daimlerchrysler bought back (exchanged it for a 2000 minivan) the vehicle without admitting the problem existed.the 2000 model year we were given in exchange for the 1999 model has the early symptoms of the failing constant velocity joint.daimlerchrysler refuses to address this problem with our 2000 model year "replacement" minivan.

Vehicle pulls right while accellerating. Replaced was the transmission, power steering rack, axles, capers, etc..(too numerous to mention). 2000 grand voyager. Strut tower rust problem. This is a known and common issue and chrysler will not fix this defect through a recall, which they absolutely should!

Front strut pushing through body of van.we've spoken to a few mechanics/dealers who have been seeing alot of the same thing with this make/model van.no incident has occurred yet but the potential is there.we would like to bring attention to this so nhtsa can communicate with the dealerships and resolve.maybe a recall should be considered?this is potentially very dangerous if owners are not aware of the situation.it also is a costly repair for an issue that seems to be very common in this specific vehicle 2000 plymouth grand voyager.please help us resolve.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with the vehicle which is leaking water not knowingwhere it is coming from. Dealer has inspected and changed the door rubber seal. And the problem is recurring. Please provide further information. Ts

Engine check light keeps comingon instrument panel. Consumer has been back and forth to dealer, and they keep saying it's something else.

Strong musty, moldy odor from vents smells like a wet dog.it clears after turning on ac. Sprayed disinfectant into vents, ok for one day.odor same as before. No matter what is done the odor always returns.

Cruise control, horn does not work -this was within 30 days of each other. Airbag light comes on then goes off again. No accident caused this to occur.

Clockspring malfunction-which has led to failure of horn, airbag, and cruise control.*la
