On the morning of 12/7/98 i was driving north on morrie ave. Cheyenne, wy.the road conditions dry, clear and there were no distractions.i had set my cruise control on 32 mph as there are always police in the area and speed limit is 30 mph.the next thing i knew i was being hit in the face and the steering wheel was jerked out of my hands and then i felt aimpact with unknown object and another explosion and the feeling that my right hand was being pushed into the steering wheel.i smelled an awful smell and then saw all of this white powder around my face and a burning under my chin.my knee had been shoved into the steering column.i was taken to the hospital by ambulance where i spent almost four hours determining no medical problems had caused this accident.the vehicle was damaged by hitting protective posts on side of road causing irrepairable damage. Daimler chrysler took the redings off the computer but refuse to give us the results of them.their only comment is that there was no malfunction.now in light of the recall of driverside air bags perhaps this information is not correct and if so why the refusal for the results?

Engine dies without warning while in motion.today, it quit in heavy traffic nearly resulting in an accident.vehicle has 150k miles.the stalls usually occur upon letting up on the accelerator pedal.it will normally restart immediately, but to continue running the accelerator needs held down to hold the engine a little above idle speed - you have to drive with two feet.no error codes are recorded, so assumed mechanical failure was occuring.there was no sputtering, like a fuel pump failing would cause.replaced fuel filter and pressure regulator, but did not resolve the problem.repair shops can only guess at the cause.
We have informed dealer of problem with van dieng. Have had it worked on or looked at at least 5 times. When mechanics have had it they say that its ok then we get it down the road it dies in traffic .have made reapirs of at least $500 on it never fixing the problem. Was told by dealer that it had been tune up and taken care of well by former owners, but first mechanic said same filters and plugs were on it since it was new, actually wanted to frame the fuel filter it was so dirty never seen one that bad before!second mechanic said idol box, and fixed thaton the way home died at least 3 times again . Called chrysler customer hotline wouldnt help us. Went to a chrysler dealer and they said they had a van -same year- same type- in ther few days earlier with the same problem and could not figure out what was causing the other persons van to die either and said he thinks it may be a defect. We have already hit a small low wall when the vehicle died because there is no steering or brakes and are affraid we are gonna get seriously hurt it if dies in heavy traffic.

While traveling at hwy speed of 55-60 mph, a loud noise was heard and the vehicle commenced to lose power. Vehicle taken to dealer and informed that the problem was a staunchion failure. A staunchion is located within engine and is used to hold valve bracket that holds rocker arm.

Consumer took car to dealer forair conditioning problem. Consumer has only used air conditioning 8 months out of the 4 years. Dealer said there was a hole in the coil springs.
5-22-9953527 miles.the front a/c had to be fixed.front evap core, drier, evap core, evacuate and rechareg, a/c cost $522.75.now 1 year later 5-16-0063502 milesthe a/c needs repair again.condenser, receiver/drier, freon, evac & recharge for a total of $561.15.called chrysler 5-16-00will not do anything.they say it is my problem,i told them it is theirs because their are so many people out there like me.

Sliding passenger door on driver's side has opened twice while driving, will not shut all the way. Dealer has repaired both sliding doors, but problem still occurs. The drivers side door does not shut at all.the latch does not connect to the door.as consumer drives the door swings open.the sliding side door opens in motion also.the latch is not connecting, consumer states on the form that there was a crash and two people were injured, however does not give any information regarding this.*jg

Failure occurred without warning and less than 5000 miles after regular 90k transmission service.requires complete transmission replacement at est cost of $3,500.vehicle has been meticulously maintained with very light duty use. Catastrophic failure of this component is unwarranted for well maintained vehicle of this age.

Intermittent failure of transmission to engage from stop-increasingly harsh shifts.car always driven conservatively and never carried a heavy load;no trailer hitch present.this is far too early for such a major failure on a well-cared for car.

Consumer tried to back out of their drive way, and vehicle would not go to reverse, mechanic said, due to the mfr. Built transmissions it is design with a defect in the casing that breaks the seal and leak and destroys other machanisms inside. Consumer had vehicle towed to gerald's transmission company--541-689-8870
While trying to buckle up seat belt on the left side of the last row seat, seat belt becamedetached fromtop bolt.
The seat belt release button does not hold the belt in place and sometimes the belt jams in the release button.
Twice, now, the driver side recliner mechanism let loose and my seat back went into full decline while i was driving!first was in june, 1997, and now in january, 1999.it really scared me and i wonder if this is a common problem.i drive fairly conservatively, i am not obese, i alway use lap/shoulder belts.the thought of possibly losing control at high speed makes me want to ask for a permanent lock on the seat, although i do change the position every so often for comfort.luckily, i am the primary driver.my wife fears to drive the van.please report this to the appropriate people at chrysler.i've paid $219.00 on the recent indident (invoice 169536 of 1/22/99 from elmhurst dodge, dealer #51-57002,i.e. #36-2474717) and the earlier one in june '97 was a similar amount, but i don't know the invoice number.i can't be the only one. The contact owns a 1995 plymouth grand voyager. The contact stated that the driver's side door failed to close. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the door was defective. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
The frame where the bottom hinge attaches to the front doors has developed a stress fracture.as doors open, the fracture broadens and there is also a lateral fracture into the bolt.local dealer's body shop has indicated that the doors could fall off.dealer hasbeen notified.

Dangerous explosion of tire while driving.could have killed if on highway.tire exploded all around side on the outside.this was a new michelin tire bought 11/6/01 at costco, driven a little more than 4000 miles.very scary.could have resulted in fatalities.i have taken pictures of the exploded tire.bought michelin brand because of perceived quality & trust.bought a more expensive model.yet exploded & rippedall around side of tire. Substantial tread left, blowout resulted while traveling, other tires had similar inner cracks, both lines of cracks developed on the white wall side.
Tread separated from the tire while travelling on ill toll 94.wife pregnant, her nephew and his girlfriend were with us.it scared the hell out of all of us.i have damage that firestone is giving me the run-around on how to make a claim with them.the firestone dealer in homewood, ill refused to replace the tire, and since i was out of town i paid for a replacement that i feel i should not have.it is obviously a tread separation (i kept the old tire and took photo's)i showed them the tire and they agreed that it was "interesting"but since it was not on "the list" no replacement.a midas technician told me today that another firestone tire on the vehicle is about to do the same thing.(dot number: vdmo41a487tiresize: p205/70r15)
I took the car to another chrysler dealer in md.the service department has seen it before, said it might fall under the recall.i asked if the airbag could just be disabled and the wiper made to work if it didn't fall under the recall and they said they weren't allowed to do that.currently i am having to rent a car until they can diagnose the problem.

Driving down the road the windshield wipers come on even though they are not turned on.since the control is in the off position there is no way to stop them from working. My wifes niece has a van and is experiencing the same problem.
