I don't know how to contact chrysler, i don't know what to do about this. Chrysler should be sued for selling cars with faulty air bags.i am very angry that at 40 miles per hour, an accident didn't deploy the air bag., the front of the vehicle slammed an out of control vehicle, spinning in a snow storm at 40 mph, and the airbags diddn't deploy, what would have happened if my wife was traveling at 65 mph and got into an accident. I knew these air bags are just a bunch of bull.. What do i do about [email protected].

Took vehicle to a mechanic to listen to the noice. Based on his observation, he suspects there tobe a problem with the rocker arm mounting bracket. He noted that these vehicles have this occur between 90,000 and 100,00 miles. He also stated that he has done alot of these repairs and that he is suprised that there has not been a recall for this problem. The estimated cost for repair is between 500.00 to 800.00 dollars depending on what he finds. Haven,t had the work done yet. Was wondering if there was any recalls on this problem.

Engine stalls in traffic. Stalled under highway driving conditions (65mph) and local driving situations at bootom of highway exit rampt and at stop signs and traffic signals.all gauges registered at mid-range at time of all stalls.engine will restart after waiting a period of time.engine seems less prone to stalling when the engine remains below 2000 rpm and air-conditioning and radio are off.local mechanic along with the plymouth dealer were unable to determine the cause of the failure.other neighbors have similar problems on the same make/model.

Transmission slipping gears and evaporator core of air conditioner failure.
The compressor failure has occurred in all chrysler products of a prior year.it has been described as a defaulted part by the dealer and several other ase certified technicians including sears and pep boys.these repair facilities have commented on the number of replacements they have had to do on the chyrsler products on the same part due to the faulty part.the failure occurs on the vehicle at various mileage readingssome early and some late model cars.it should be recalled and replaced at the manufacturers expense since they are aware of the defective part and decided not to fix it before leaving the manufacturer business.
A/c evaporator core has pin hole in it due to defective factory part.

The airconditioning unit has failed.we own a blue grand voyager minivan and the paint is peeling from the roof and engine hood of the car.we have noticed many of the same color and year trucks, vans and cars with failing paint.a recall should happen.paint should not start peeling after 4 years of a cars life.

Plastic headlights get cloudy and significantly reduce light output and thus visibility during night time driving.i have experienced this with several chrysler corporation minivans and a nissan altima, however, a quick tour thru a parking lot will identify numerous car makes and models with clouded headlights. If the plastic can't be manufactured in a way that prevents it from getting cloudy or yellow, manufacturers should be required to use glass.

My wife uses this vehicle.on a family trip in april i heard a rattling that sounded like a door partially opened but i could not locate the source.a couple days later i went to supermarket and tried to open the rear hatch with my key.the rear hatch would not open.i used the electric door latch and the rear hatch opened.at this time i noticed the three mounting bolts for the lock mechanism were gone.i put in three metric bolts (sae bolts would not fit in the present holes) but found they loosened over time.i finally put in 3 bolts with lock washers and double nuts to prevent back off.i observed that the metal was too soft and fatigued because the threads were non-existent, which meant it use as a lock assembly is incorrect and dangerous.i have 3 children who ride in this van and i am very concerned.this unit was replaced under a recall on 4/23/96, recall #cfxg6405, auth code 3831, performed by chrysler plymouth of paramus new jersey, 234 route 4 east, phone 845-0701.chrysler is a very difficult company to deal with.the customer service is not helpful.i tried calling but the line is constantly busy.this matter should be investigated.

This is the second transmission failure. The first occurred at 42,000 miles in the middle of a busy san francisco intersection. The latest incident occurred while merging onto a freeway, putting several vehicles at risk, including our van full of children. The number of complaints on the internet as well as acknowledgement from a chrysler representative indicates this is a prevasive problem.

Transmission gears slipped badly and was replaced.
I experienced significant loss of control at highway speed when auto transmission decided to self destruct.dealer's comments were how "lucky" i was that my original transmission lasted to 100000 miles, as most do not last that long.the mopar factory rebuilt replacement lasted only 12000 miles, but i did not experience rapid disintegration as with the first, only "slippage" and inablity to proceed in any direction.this appears to be a major problem with minivans, probably an indirect and direct cause of accidents and personal injury.please do something.

Pulled out ofthe driveway the morning of january 8, 2002 and into traffic. Felt a hard jerk and heard a strange winding noise. The transmission would not shift out of first gear. Took the van to the dealer and they said the transmission was shot from an internal failure and would need a new transmission. The dealer installed a new transmission at a cost of $2147.28 with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty.
The trans-axle seems to have a electrical glitch that will prevent it from shifting gears. If i turn the ignition off and then back on while moving forward, the trans will shift. I took it to the dealer to have it checked out and they said i have a chip problem and the only way it could be fixed is replaced with a new trans-axel. ($2700.). Today the trans started making very loud noise when shifting. I looked under to see if any thing was falling out and a brace that seems to be a torque brace is broken. I am going to have that looked at today. However that is not going to fix the shifting. It sems that we are buying disposable cars now days.

I was driving a group of students when i heard a loud explosion and lost all gears on my transmission. I stopped the vehicle, tried to put it in park and it kept rolling. The interior of the transmission had blown. At the same time, it blew out the starter and the main drive. If i can find a used or rebuilt transmission, it will cost me $1,000 for the transmission plus labor costs. Been searching 2 weeks with no luck. It's about time someone takes these reports seriously. An investigation needs to be started. I bought this van from my dad who replaced the transmission in 1999. It's 2004 and it needs replaced again.
Transmissionneeds to be replaced for the second time. Dealer has tried to fix, and can't find the problem.
I was on the interstate, stranded in the middle of no where!!this is the second failure of this transmmision, i can't believe that they do recalls for small items, but when it comes to large expensive problems they leave you hanging!!

I had the transmission rebulit at 53k mile and now again at 85k, this is uncalled for. There should be some recall for these very defective transmissions that chrysler put out in 1994. By the way both times it has costed me $1300 and now$1421.

Transmission underwent major repair at 59,653 miles under 7/70 warranty.this time repair is out of warranty.last time the transmission would slam into gear as it was shifting.this time there was a sudden shudder and smell of burning material and loss of power which nearly caused an accident.the vehicle is currently being repaired at westoaks chrysler, 3839 auto mall drive, thousand oaks, ca, 1-800-748-6118.they also repaired the vehicle in feb 1998 under warranty.this failure was a safety concern to me and my family.once the vehicle has been repaired i plan to go to plymouth for payment of this out-of-warranty repair.it is my understanding that chrysler has had transmission problems from 1989-1997.
We purchased this vehicle one year ago from realative.at that time it had 45,000 miles on it.they purchased the vehicle used from a dealer with 38,000 miles on it.since owning the vehicle we have had trouble with the transmission locking into low gear and having to "limp" to our destination; it shifts abruptly when downshifting; a component has failed, making the van want to shift into overdrive while tring to maintain a speed of 35-40 mph; and the most recent problem is that while driving to work i lost all forward gears.the van is driveable at this time.two seperate chrysler dealers have looked at the van and are unable to determine why this happened; what caused it or how to repair it other then replacing the entire transmission, at a cost of approximately $2,000.00they do not guarentee that this will cure the problem.everyone i speak with who has owned, or has had a family member own a 1994 grand voyager/ caravan, has had multiple problems with the transmission.i have spoken with people who have had factory rebuilt transmission installed, and have had continued problems.the nhtsa database is filled with peoples complaints about these transmissions.66,200 miles on a vehicle is not much, especially for a transmission.i have contacted chrysler to see if they would offer some type of assistance with this problem, but they refuse.i would ask that nhtsa seriously look at this issue closely.having heard so many stories from indivduals; having found web sites filled with peoples stories of failed transmissions, and from your own database, it appears that there is something seriously wrong with the transmissions that chrysler has used in these vehicles.

Transmission/torque converter failed, causing vehicle to lunch forward. Problem occurs usually after trips over 5 miles when transmission is warmed up. Initially, dealership diagnosed it as throttle position sensor failure, and replaced the part. After the fourth failure, dealership diagnosed it as torque converter malfunctioning.

Whenever driving between 35 & 45mph vehicle would shake very badly.vehicle taken to dealer & mechanic, replaced the axle/struts/ tie rod ends/tires/brakes & turned the rotors. The cause of the shaking has not been found or corrected.
Vehicle was going 10mphmaking a turn, and front axle broke.there was a loud screaching noise, and then a clunk.left front swung toside. Manufacturer stated there was nothing they could do, mileage was too high. There was no interest in knowing what happened.
Rear axle broke, causing rear wheel to fall off, vehicle lost control, resulting in an accident.

Front ofvehicle shakes/ brakes fade, andabs light is on. This is a result of axle shaft going bad. At 57,000 milesleft axle had to be changed. Also,at 65,000 milesrightaxle had to be changed. Currently, dealer has replaced both left and right. Axles.please provide any further information.
I purchased this van in feruary 1997. It had 40,683 miles on it. The van developed a severe vibration in the drive train on acceleratiion from a stop and when accelerating at speed with passing gear and without passing gear. The transmission case was replaced once (broken case), replaced once and is now in shop for replacement again. This vehicle will lock up in lower gears when accelerating making for dangerous operation. Dealers admit there is a problem with this transmission and i have confirmed this problem from many other people and tsbs. This defect should be a recall condition on all vans with this problem. I also feel this problem(vibration) has caused premature damage to the main bearings and consequent internal engine damage. Internal damage to the engine

I've owned many cars in my life and have never had to replace a transmission.with this one, we've done it twice.the frustrating thing is chrysler knew of the problem after '93 and did nothing to fix it until 96.i will never buy another american made car.they are made very badly, and noone seems to care.

Problem #1 - rain water entering vehicle.we live in seattle, it rains 50% of the year.everytime it rains, for the last 3-4 years, water enters the vehicle.we've taken the vehicle to a factory authorized water leak detection company, after 1-2 years and about $500 in bills, they gave up.they found a new leak everytime we brought the car in.as of last thursday, 2/24/2000 , they finally gave up, said they could not justify finding more leaks!!in all they found 6 leaks, none of which were failed seals or otherwise parts that would wear out over time. All found leaks were body welds and other factory defects. We've also taken the car to glass installation stores, etc.nobody, so far can detect where all the leaks are coming from.water leak techniques said that all of the leaks they found were factory defects.what's our next step?we just want a dry car. Our 2nd & 3rd problem may be related, and have been occuring almost since the car was new.basically, the car will stall while driving slowly.like when starting out at a traffic light or driving through a parking lot.the next problem, the transmission shifts roughly, usually when the engine is warm, sometimes the transmission has trouble shifting into the next gear, almost like the "brain" doesn't tell it to shift.we like our mini-van, we only have about 45,000 original miles on it.we have spent hundreds of dollars trying to remedy the 3 problems, can you help?this vehicle has never been in an accident.the vehicle has had regular maintenance.iread over the recall items for other 1994 chrysler models, one recall sounds similar nhtsa campaign id# 94vo24000.
2 items of concern. The airconditioning unit has failed.we own a blue grand voyager minivan and the paint is peeling from the roof and engine hood of the car.we have noticed many of the same color and year trucks, vans and cars with failing paint.a recall should happen.paint should not start peeling after 4 years of a cars life.

The rear sliding door came off the track when trying to close it. It appears that the rubber rollers deterioated and allowed the rear sliding mechanism to come off the track. The top and bottom support arms were the only thing holding the door on. An injury could occur, when the door drops to the ground if the door were to strike the child/person closing it. I have photos of the door.
Fatigue cracking of the driver's side door hinge pillar around the hinge.the crack has progressed roughly 50% ofthe way around the hinge and will lead to complete separation of the hinge from the pillar without repair.this car has had no accidents.the incident date is the approximate date the crack was first detected.

The welds that hold the lifter on the passenger side of the rear tailgate failed.nlm
While opening the tailgate on the vehicle, my daughter was preparing to load merchandise into the rear . While she was under the opening tailgate a support pivot sheared off at the body. The tailgate came down on her head. The support went to a fully extended position. It lodged between the rear interior panel and the rear body work. Once my daughter was out from under the tailgate, the tailgate closed. But because the support was fully extended it continued up through the interior of the van,put a hole in the interior roof panel and the end of the support abraided wiring above the roof panel causing the fuse for the air bags and the rear window wiper/washer to blow. As a result the dash mounted air bag warning light came on and of course the rear wiper was inop. I took the van into the dealer, because i read on your website of a recall pertaining to the liftgate supports. He informed me that my van was fixed once under the recall notice and there was nothing he could do for me. (he didn't even give me the time of day to look at what had happened!) i requested the phone # for chrysler consumer services, which he gave me. Chrysler told me to re-contact the dealership and that if upon inspection the dealer finds that the broken pivot is covered by the recall (#730) they would fix it. Otherwise i.m liable for the repairs.to date , i have rescheduled the appointment with the dealer.
Without warning the top hinge of the hydraulic lift of the tailgate snapped while i was driving.hydraulic "tube" was sent into the ceiling of the van, causing the interior and ceiling to have severe damage.hatch cannot be opened without removing hydraulic assembly.
Consumer noticed formaldehyde smell coming from the side panels that were made of a particle board.material was disintegrating.smell possibly from the glue used on the panels.owner wants chrysler to compensate for costs of replacement. *ml

The part that had been replaced is coondiered a non-wear item.this part should not have broken in half.i currently have an appointment with the dealer because i suspect this part is broken again.i wanted to see if the nhtsa had received any other complaints, and to see if there is recourse back to the manufacturer for the failure of the torsion bar.thank you for taking my concern...patrick adamo 574-257-3153.
Vehicle handling degraded due to rear axle/beam failure.the handling of the minivan was significantly different.i inspected the vehicle and noticed the rear wheel had a significant negative camber when it has a solid rear axle/beam.i jacked the car up and inspected the rear / axle and beam and saw a near complete rust through of the rear axle/beam.the rust resulted in the rear axle bending upwards near the right rear wheel casting/hub.this in turn yielded the negative camber.the failure was caught prior to occurring while at normal speeds (55 mph).there is no question that if this had failed at 55 mph it would have resulted in complete loss of control.the drivers side rear wheel assembly would have only been held on by a shock absorber and brake line.i have not yet finalize how to repair this but looking at the rear axle/beam assembly it will take a complete replacement of this assembly.i'd expect this to be a $2000 repair.i have detailed photographs and a report that i would be glad to forward.a major suspension component should not rust through to failure ever if it will result in loss of control. The dodge design connects the two rear wheels cast iron hubs via a thin walled tube.this thin wall tube keeps the rear wheels aligned and at the correct camber.this tube rusted through such that the main support tying the whole rear suspension together is lost.this van spent several years in ny.i would say any dodge minivan running in the north east is at a significant risk of this failure.
The contact owns a 1994 plymouth grand voyager.while driving 4 mph, the rear driver side axle snapped.the vehicle shook violently and the contact heard a squealing noise right before the failure occurred.this is the fourth time that the axle has been towed and repaired.the current mileage is 115,000 and failure mileage was 110,000.

This is the secondblow out of these tires and one flat tire since bought .thefirst blow out was striaght across the top of the "w" in winstontire logo two weeks after buying the set.i was drive thru a construction site.the drivers side front went thru a small pot hole , the rear tire just went flat. Itwas a saturday morningand the winston dealer did not want to take care of the tire did not get me in wedensday at the soonest. They would road hazard the tire,i feel this was a bad tire. They wanted to sell me another road hazard.while on a trip to montana and back to phoinexaz. A peice of montana road sand when the face ofone of the tires (they still have not paid the flat repair). While there i asked them to give me their opion of these tires.their answer was not drive on gravel at all and don't hit anything bigger than a piece of gravel.the last blowout was while trying to do a u-turn.i had to pull up on to the curve.it blowout as soon tire touched the curb.i know my speed was less than 15mph.for i did not to do a front end alinement.the place where this tire blow out was the same as the other. In the past years now my own rigs i have had two blow outs, one running over a railroad spike and the other a stick thur side wall. I have also worked in a tire shops before and did almost all my own tireswhile driving log trucks in montana for seven years.for they have toldme that i don't know what i talking about. Excessive tire wear on outer edge of tires.third set of tires in 35k miles.alignment has always been checked and has always been in spec.tires have been rated for 50 to 70k miles only getting 15k.maybe the awd that is causing it??front struts were replaced before i bought the car.i am in the process of replacing them again with new rear shocks (monroe reflex).this is the second grand voyager.first one never had any problems under the same driving conditions.dealer has no explanation except to increase tire pressure.i want to know if this is an isolated problem or not and what i can do to get it corrected.

As i was driving the vehicle i noticed that the airbag light on the dash came on. Than later on i also noticed that my rear window wiper blade was not working. I was told by a friend that it could be a wiring problem that the manufacturer should replace.dt
Chimes and warning light will flash repeatedly even though door is closed.
While driving the vehicle it began to slow down.the oil pressure gauge goes out and the vehicle has no power.consumer also states that sometimes the vehicle will not start at all.consumer has contacted the dealer, they told them it would only be guess work because they didn't know what the problem was since the car doesn't do that all the time.
Vehicle is experiencing several problems that are listed in nhtsa's complaint data base.
I would appreciate any information regarding a recall, etc...
While in park with engine running, car lurched backward, trapping driver under car.
My cruise control system does not work. I have checked all the fuses. They are all ok. When contacting several mechanic and reading on-line from other owners with similar problem, it is commonly revealed thatthe air bag spring in the steering wheel may have gone bad which is not uncommon. The vehicle, otherwise is operable. I wonder if this revelation is true, are there any other serious risksthat could be associated with this.
Accelerator pedal became stuck while driving. Tried jarring it loose with foot by tapping on it. Did not return to original position. Hit a snow drift, and then swung into phone pole .then, hit a tree. Vehicle was totaled.air bags failed to deploy.two people were injured in accident.
The metal tube which supplies coolant to the rear heater began to leak due to corrosion, the dealer replaced the tube, however about three and a hlf years later it began corroding again, the consumer requested that the dealer/manufacturer contribute to the cost of the repair but it was rejected.nlm
Heater hose and water pump failed, causing leaks.
I was sitting in a parking lot waiting for my mother to pay a bill. I had my engine off, but the power was on.i had my power window down.mytwo year old was looking out of the window.she stepped up and her foot pressed on the powerwindow button and the window raised up on her head and made a mark on her cheek. I tried to stop the window with the button on my side to quickly stop the window from raising, but it wouldn't override her button.i quickly reached over and got the button down, but if her head had been out of the window more, it would probably have broken her neck!there needs to be a safety warning issued to prevent a child from getting hurt or killed. I had never thought about this happening. Had i been standing outside the car, etc., it would have caused serious injury and/or possible death.
Control panel for outside mirrors shorted out while vehicle was turned off, this resulted in a smoke filled vehicle and the switch melted. Dealer will not take responsibility.
Driver mirror switch melted down resulting in smoke & add'l melt down of wire hareness. One third of interior electrical system is not operational.
Rear window fell completely out of van.
Side window glass shattered while traveling. Consumer indicates it is a potential generic problem. Happened 5 times before.
In may of 1996 i noticed that the paint on the roof of the mini-van was peeling very bad.my husband was traveling around the country in the van and we were therefore unable to have it checked out immediately.as time passed, the peeling worsened and other areas also started to peel (the hood, the driver side door) and my husband then confronted a dealership in 1/97 about the issue. They said because of the limited edition color, the paint job would be very expensive.the top of the van has since begun to rust, as have sections of the hood and some of the dr side door.
Driver side middle window shattered without warning or reason.broken glass blew into vehcile and covered 2 year old from head to toe, who was sitting in child safety seat next to window.

Nhts campaign 99v189000 concerns a failure of windshield wiper linkages on 1993 plymouth voyagers leading to total loss of wiper function.this happened to my daughter today during a storm, forcing her to return home very slowly.no accident, no one hurt.(note that i am a registered professional engineer.)upon her return, i inspected and found that:1.the wiper motor was running and could be audibly heard while the wipers sat motionless.2.the two wipers were linked together and could be moved easily by hand. 3.the running wiper motor would not move the wipers.at that point i removed the 3 bolts holding the wiper motor in place and looked inside the wiper arm cavity.i found wiper drive arm to be detached from the rotating arm on the drive motor shaft.i have digital photographs available if you would like to see them.the reason for my report is this:the van which this happened to is a 1994grand voyager, same body style as the 1993.how does one suggest that the 1994 model should also be recalled?regards, jeff box [email protected].
The contact owns a 1994 plymouth voyager. The contact stated that she had to replace the window shield wiper motor three times in a one year period.
