Vehicle would start for about 1 sec and stop. Mechanic changed crankcase sensor, camshaft sensor, fuel filter, coil. Checked injectors. All checked out good. Problem pointedto computer module. Changed first time same problem. After waiting 2 weeks changed again. Still had problem. All wiring throughly checked. Now waiting approx. 3 weeks for another module. Chrysler does not have any in stock. The ones that were changed were refirbushed.talked to engineers and they cannot get part. There is none in chyrsler's parts depot. My question is why not. How come this part is not in stock. Thank you

I own a 1993 plymouth grand voyager le 3.3l v6 that has a problem with stalling. It is very dangerous and has occurred several times while driving on the freeway. It seems to happen only after the engine has reached operating temperature and while of either apply the brakes or sitting at a dead stop. Several mechanic shops have not been able to diagnose the problem or simply do not know what the cause is. After doing research into this matter, i have found that several plymouth grand voyager owners have had these same exact problems. The fuel pump and filter have been changed and various sensors as well. This is a hazard not only to myself and my family, but to all other drivers that may be on the road and around my vehicle when this occurs. With the number of reports that i have seen, i think that daimler/chrysler should check into this problem, issue a recall, and fix this problem before someone gets hurt or possible killed.

Air conditioner quit working, problem is evaporator under dash.repair to be $1200 estimated.fuel pump failed.paint began peeling at 40,000 miles.just finished repainting whole vehicle at own expense.both front seatbelts would not unroll and were replaced.transmission failed at 68,000 miles, dealer repaired at no charge.abs no longer works.wheels lock up when hard braking.

Over charging of ac system, causes transmission/tires and engine to lock.this is an extreme hazard to passangers of both vehicles, and any other on coming vehicle. Plus it can be used by dealers to sell transmissionsions.it causes premature tire failure. And extreme loss of control on turns.it is also a hazard on any vehicles with the same system.i've spoken to two dealers and two local car mechanics.who could not solve my problem.until the a/c system failed, and the a/c tech knew what was causing the problem.my vehicle would stall half way through a turn(routinely),all four wheels (all wheel drive)would lock up at 65mph on the interstate.i've never had a set of tires last longer than about twenty thousand miles. All three dealers my vehicle was serviced at since it was new, never addressed the problem.

Owner states at around 7:30am this morning after exiting vehicle caught fire, vehicle was a total loss. Fire department said fire started in the engine compartment.

The contact owns a 1993 plymouth grand voyager.the contact stated that it is very difficult to depress the brake pedal in his vehicle.he has to use all of his strength to get them to work.in addition, the abs pump is running and will not shut off.the abs lights and brake lights are currently illuminated.the rear wiper on the rear hatch has been replaced four times at the cost of $350.the wiper currently needs to be replaced again.within six months of having the vehicle repaired, the failure recurred.the driver's side door is falling off the hinges and the door was repaired once before with a used door.the door currently needs to be repaired or replaced again.at 81,000 miles, the transmission had to be replaced due to shift bump behavior; however, the failure still persists.the air conditioner has not worked since the vehicle was purchased.the current mileage was 151,000 and failure mileage was 100,000.

Evaporator coil leak resulted in a/c failure, also poses a safety risk of freon leak.*aw

The air conditioner systemis inoperative due to problems with a/c motor and high pressure switch.dealer replaced parts.dealer cannot determine problem.please provide further information.

Transmission has never shifted properly or sounded right. Also, air conditioner's evaporator/condensor failed.

Air conditioner lines/tubing are not protected under the carriage causing failure on several occasions, freon leakage not able to be completely remedied.mjs

Air conditione r has been fixed each year, for a total of six times.

I have had trouble with the abs since i bought the car.the system has been replaced 3 times to date and is now beginning to fail once again. I have had numersous repairs to the a/c system.thew first was in 1996 ($472).the second in 1998 ($850).the third also in 1998 ($286).the fourth again in 1998 ($673).the fifth in 1999 ($178).the sixth in 2000 ($688).so, to date, i have spent over $3000.00 having the a/c repaired on this vehicle.the frequency of repairs and the amount paid for these repairs is unacceptable and suggests that there is a major problem with this component that should be the responsibility of the manufacturer.to summarize, i have had frequent and excessive problems with both the abs and a/c systems.thank you for you attention.

A/c condensor failed.

The vehicle has been an ongoing problem although the maker says that they have not had excessive problems

Consumer states air conditioner is noisy.

We have had problems with the air conditioner for almost two years.during the warmer months, we have had to add freon about every 2 months.we have had to add freon to the system at least 5 times since 8/98, which is excessive because the air conditioning system is generally only used during the summer months in northern illinois.earlier air conditioning system checks could not detect where the leak was occuring.a recent check in april resulted in a diagnosis of an evaporator problem.the firestonerepair shop manager stated that air conditioner problems were common for the plymouth/chrysler minivans.

Brakes shudder when trying to stop at higher speeds above 45 miles per hour, air conditioner fan stops at speeds above 55 miles per hour when the engine begins to load going up hills before it shifts into overdrive

The transmission slips at starting and after stops is slow to re-engage,the radio for a long time has shut off on its own and then when you try to turn it back on sometimes it takes 20 to 30 tries to turn it back on.the transmission and radio problems are the same as a van owned by my wife's brother.

Fuel is leaking in the engine area around injectors.all injectors and o-rings have been replaced and it is still leaking.

Inlet/outlet fuel hoses from tank to chassis lines are corroded at crimp connector. Composition of crimp fitting appears to be of type that reacts poorly with roadsalt . Crimp fittings have disolved causing fuel leak. Exposure of raw fuel/vapors near rear exhaust area may cause a fire/explosion

The van lost all power while traveling at 65+ mph on an interstate highway.this occurred suddenly with no warning after the van hit a slight bump in the road.after putting the vehicle in neutral and coasting to a stop on the side of the highway, the van was restarted and driven to a dealership.the dealership ran a computer diagnostic that found no problems (since the van lost all power nothing was registered in the onboard computer memory).we got back on the road and 1.5 hours later the same thing happened.this time it was at night, on an extended section of interstate with no shoulder.we were lucky that no one was following closely behind.again, after placing the van in neutral and coasting to a stop, the van was restarted and driven to a motel.the vehicle was repaired at a service station, the mechanic said he had seen a similar problem on 6-8 + vans over the past several years.though no diffinitive diagnostic could be run to detect a short circuit in the electric fuel pump, the pump was replaced and no further problems occurred.failure of the fuel pump and loss of all power is a serious malfunction at high speeds.i question whether the problem is more widespread and indicative of a defect in design or manufacture.

After leaving san diego 06/24/1999 in route to phoenix az. My family and i had 5 highspeed engine shutdowns at 70 plus mph. Causing braking and steering failure.after several attempts of restarting engine it would restart after approximitaly 5 minutes. The weather was hot at about 110and this accured at about 3:pm . We finally made it to our destination and spent the night. Next morning took van to independent repair facility and they could not reproduce stalling. They mentioned vapor lock ? kept traveling to next destination which was going to be in new mexico and highspeed stalling accured again between phoenix and flagstaff.returned to phoenix and went toplymouth dealership { petre dealership}.they ran several tests and thought it was the o2 sensor and dirty throttle plates. 480$later backon road heading for flagstaff az. Highspeed shutdown again about 60 to 80 miles into trip.decided to try to make it to flagstaff az. And experienced one more shut down before arriving. Next morning took van to flagstaff dealership for further diagnoses but could not get van in untill next day because of volume of business. Said most likely cause was malfunctioning fuel pump after showing him the repair work from phoenix. Advised keeping fuel tank full and proceed to next distination of albuquerque n.m.. Took advise because we were on time schedule and made it to within 20 miles of destination and van did another highspeed shutdown on downgrade almost causing loss of control . Stayed night in albuquerque nm and found dealership {zangara dodge ) open on sat. Gave history of events and they replaced fuelpump and fuel pump harness. No other shutdowns accured on rest of trip to illinois and back to california.

4 of 6 fuel injectors leak from under plastic top of injector near the electrical connection. Fuel leaks and pools on top of the engine.injectors seal and stop leaking as engine warms up.injectors do not leak if the outside air temperature is not below 50 degrees f.i talked with kenai chrysler, our local dealer, and was told that there is no recall on the injectors.i also talked to a local shop in homer, ak, sunny service.the owner, j. J. Carroll, has seen this problem several times.i believe this could lead to a fire in the engine compartment.after the car warms up the fuel eventually evaporates from the heat of the engine, but there is a strong gasoline odor in and around the car.

Automatic transmission failed.

Transmission failure.

Transmission was rebuilt using 'all new parts'.i brought it back to the mechanic several times due to hard shift up at 20-30 mph.he took it apart every time and said there was no problem that he could see, even though he agreed about the hard shift.i paid $1,400 out of pocket because it failed 3 months after the warranty expired (and when the balloon payment was due at the end of the gold key lease.)it recently began making a high pitched drill type noise upon accelerating at any speed, along with both hard shifting upon acceleration and deceleration.the noise continued for about 3 weeks, and stopped 4 days before the transmission totally failed.it failed at 65mph, in cruise control in heavy traffic, only 18 months after it had been repaired.the vehicle began buckinglike a horse, with the transmission shifting very hard down and up several times.i disengaged the cruise control and it lost power steadily until it would not drive any more.the engine sounded like i was flooring it in park even though it was in drive.i switched from drive to reverse and back 3 times before a gear would engage. It would operate in reverse. I was able to resume enough power to get us home.

Two days after purchase this transmission failed and almost caused huge accident on busy street.

Consumer states that transmission slips at higher speeds, shift lever is hard to put in reverse.

Transmission failure.

I have always owned a chrysler for the last 31yrs and i have never had a problem with them ...after checking the problems with the yr 93 van's there are many whose transmissions that have gone out after or around 100,000 miles...i would like this checked into as i was going to buy another chrysler soon. But now can not afford to after having spent so much on repair of the transmission. Please direct me to the proper area to see what can be done about compensation for the transmision. I would love to continue owning chrysler's and know that i will receive the satisfaction that "we" chrysler owners have always received. Thank you.

Seat belt unlatches.

In october 1997, the driver side seat belt jammed in the fully retracted position.i had it replaced and didn't think much about it.then in july 1998, the exact same problem occurred with he belt for the right second bench seat position.i had this belt replaced, but this time i asked the dealer for the defective belt.i have it.do you want it?i feel that one failure may have been bad luck, but two failures seems like there may be a problem with the components.

Brakes have no power assist due to abs pump failure, as diagnosed by putnam chrysler on 3/29/13. Dealer contacted chrysler regarding recall 685. Part was said to be on back order. Owner has contacted chrysler and dealer numerous times to no avail. Latest report (11/7/13) from chrysler is that the part was sent to dealer and message left for owner at some unrecognized phone number. Latest report from dealer, also 11/7/13, is that repair has already been done, which is not correct. Dealer rep was to research and call owner back. No call back.

Abs hydraulic accuator pump failed again. Was repaired for free in 1999. I paid for the accumalotor, which fails due to the leaky brake pump. Chrysler is delaying or denying repair on lifetime warranty due to recall.

The contact owns a 1993 plymouth grand voyager. The contact stated that as he was braking to a stop, the brake pedal abnormally traveled to the floorboard causing an increase in stopping distance. The contact was able to stop the vehicle as he continued to apply the brakes. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock), stating that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall but the failure still existed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who performed the recall repairs. The contact left the vehicle with the dealer and stated that the vehicle was not repaired correctly. The manufacturer was notified who advised that they would give him a return call. The failure mileage was 243,067.

While driving and without warningbrakes failed, causing extended stopping distance. Dealer notified.

My abs light came on when driving, within seconds, i had absolutely no brakes. The dealer fixed at no charge, although i had to pay for towing. Today has been 2 weeks since i've had the vehicle repaired. As i was traveling down the freeway with my 4 children, the abs light came on again, and the brakes were gone again. When i purchased this vehicle in 1999, the abs system was replaced on 3 seperate occasions for the exact same reason. Each time with the guarantee that it was fixed. What will it take to have this issue resolved? the death of my children and i? i purchased this mini van for the reason of safety due to the fact that i drive with my children quite a bit. I am very unhappy with this issue. To add to the dilemma, i am currently raising my children alone due to the fact that my husband is overseas at war. With the added stress of my husband being away, i really feel the burden with my mini van is extemely uncalled for. I can no longer do the simple tasks of going to the store without feeling fear that my vehicle will all of a sudden not stop. I am just trying to get by in a safe manner while my husband is away. And this expensive vehicle made by chrysler/plymouth has failed to do this for me. Your immediate response is expected!

Abs brake problems; on normal road conditions when applying the brakes, it appears that the system is trying the work.the pedal goes to the floor, and the van requires additional stopping distance. Taken to dealer at least (3) times. Dealer not able to locate problem. Two weeks agowhile driving the vehicle, the brakes gave out completely. Problem has been corrected by dealer.

I had trouble with my anti-lock brakes on a 1993 plymouth grand voyager. I downloaded the information about the recall and made an appointment with the dealer. On the day of the appointment they had a representative of chrysler there who stated, even though there was a recall, our particular vin number was not included. They also stated they would have to charge us to fix a computer chip that was not working to test the braking system. This vehicle had over 100,000thousand miles so we knew not all of the recall would apply, but certain components had a lifetime replacement warranty. Because of the up front charges we withdrew the vehicle from the dealer and sent it to an independent garage, who is having trouble finding the used parts. The dealer said the info. On this website are just summaries and not always correct for the particular vehicle.

The contact owns a 1993 plymouth grand voyager.approximately ten years ago, the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock)and daimler chrysler recall number 685.he took his vehicle to the dealer for service, but they could not honor the recall notice.they informed the contact that recalls could only be serviced within a reasonable amount of time.according to the contact, the recall stated that the consumer could get a free remedy any time after receiving the notice for the life of the vehicle.the service manager at the dealer agreed with the contact.the contact stated that general motors should honor what is mentioned in the recall notice.it was noticed that nhtsa's recall notice slightly differed from the manufacturer's notice concerning the services that would be provided for the life of the vehicle.the contact stated that he can provide a copy of the recall notice from daimler chrysler.there had been no failure to date.the current mileage was 92,000.

Consumer's vehicle was inside of a parking lot area, went to applybrakes, and there were no brakes.pedal went all the way to the floor.also, abs braking light came ondashboard. Dealershipwas aware ofproblem.

The brake system has been recalled due to a failure in the anti lock system. The dealer has replaced this system at least 3 times, when it fails ( without warning) the pedal pushes extremely hard, and you have only very limited braking ability.the dealer has told us thatthe brakes will be warrenteed for the life of the vehicle. This gives me a sick feeling knowing the history of this vehicle.

The contact owns a 1993 plymouth grand voyager.while driving in reverse at 5 mph, the brake pedal would not depress, despite using extreme force.the contact stated that the failure was intermittent, however, the abs light remained illuminated.the mechanic diagnosed the vehicle as having antilock brake failure.the dealer stated that her vin was not included in nhtsa recall number 96v099000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 155,000 and failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 1993 plymouth grand voyager.the contact stated that the liftgate hinge was not operating correctly.the liftgate closed without assistance.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired.also, the abs warning light illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel.the contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and experienced difficulty slowing down.there was also a malfunction with the seat belt assembly buckle.recently, while driving approximately 65 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers stopped working without warning.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on three separate occasions.the technician advised that the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealer.at this time, the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 142,000 and current mileage was 155,000. Nhtsa campaign id# 96v099000 (mfg. Campaign #685) - contact with chrysler plymouth indicates that the vin# for this vehicle is not included in this recall even though this vehicle experiences the same problems as identified in the recall.can you help us persuade chrysler plymouth that this vehicle vin# should be included in the recall so that we may have the problems repairs & obtain reimbursement for previous repairs already performed?

Antilock brakes failed, causing accident/injury.

Consumer brought vehicle in for recall repairs, 96v099.mechanic informed consumer that the previous owner took care of the recall and that the problem consumer was experiencing was a sensor, which was not recall related.consumer was charged for diagnostic testing and feels this is an error since no testing was authorized.consumer requests reimbursement.*jg

I have had the anti-lock brakes replaced 3 times.the first time was prior to the recall on the abs system.i am wondering if anyone does follow-up on the recalls to see how often a replacement part itself needs to be replaced.i believe that 3 replacements of a particular component in 5+ years (7/1993-11/1998) is excessive.

We have reported a number of times to 3 dealers that we are getting warning lights on the abs system.some have said there is no issue, the brakes will still work.the latest dealer says it is undrivable due to safety risk.

I previously submitted a hard copy of the original failure (nhtsa reference number 828479) via normal mail.this submission is to document a similar safety issue that occurred 7 weeks after the original problem was 'fixed'.i will repeat the information from my original submission for reference.original submission (10/22/98):i had a recall performed on the abs system in 1996.at that time, i was under the impression that a defective designed part was being replaced with a newer designed part and that the abs system would now function properly.in august of 1998, while driving down a road at 35 mph, i attempted to brake and had no brakes at all.fortunately, no accident occurred.i took the vehicle to spartan chrysler plymouth in murray, ut who informed me the abs hydraulic system 'piston assembly' had failed.they indicated that this was the same part for which the recall was issued in 1996.they told me (in 1998) that in 1996 the recall only consisted of checking the part to see if it was bad.my question is that i wonder if the recall was really just to check the part?this seems like a serious safety problem.the part can work today and pass the recall 'test' only to fail tomorrow and cause injury or death because the vehicle loses the braking system.wouldn't it be safer to remove the fauly designed part and replace it with a known fixed part?update (11/18/98)on 7 november, the braking system of my vehicle failed with identical symptoms as before.without warning, there was no braking system in the vehicle.again, we were fortunate to not cause and accident.i returned the vehicle to the same spartan dealership.this time they diagnosed the problem as a failed 'accumulator pump' in the abs system.they insist the two failures (2 months apart) are totally unrelated, that there is no history of abs failures in this model of van, and that there is no underlying problem which is causing these parts to fail.the vehicle was repaired on 1

While driving down hill, brake and abs sensor becomes illuminated, brakes fade and then do not work at all, the dealer where vehicle was purchased would not do recall repairs on vehicle (96v099), however another dealership provided repairs, vehicle experiences several brake problems still, brakes are noisy, calipers have been replaced and consumer is concerned about the safety of the vehicle.

Since abs recall 685 has been done, the brakes have been irregular.the pedal fights me, the pedal locks up and the abs system is obviously mechanically compromised. Dealer totally unable to address my numerous complaints. (they claim i dont no how to brake)

Anti lock brake dual pressure switch failed, abs continued to experience problems prior to recall notice, however dual pressure switch is not included in the recall.

While driving and when attempting to slow/stop, brake action seemed inadequate to effectively stop, vehcile continued to roll forward 3-4 feet before stopping, also, noticed when braking a loud grinding noise, not fixed.

When the brakes were applied, the abs light came on and the pedal went to the floor , resulting in extended stopping distance. The dealer is inspecting the vehicle.

Dt*: the contact stated while depressing the brake pedal at various speeds, there was an increased stopping distance.the vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined the dual function pressure switch needed to be replaced. The consumer was told the dual pressure switch was apart of the abs and was not covered under any recall. The consumer was told that the pressure switch failed because the abs/pump motor had failed so many times. Updated 12/01/06. The stated the abs module had been replaced 5 times

Anti lock brakes still experience intermittent failure even though recall repair work on abs system was completed.

I have a 1993 plymouth grand voyager. The abs pump and motor were replaced (under warranty) with a re-manufactured unit on 11/05/01 when the vehicle mileage was 104,691.the pump just failed again, and was replaced with another re-manufactured unit.the vehicle mileage is now 115,381.i am concerned that chrysler is install poor quality repair parts under the warranty.*la

Antilock brake hydraulic pump/accumulator failed, causing brake failure.

Owner has abs brakes, she states that her brakes lock up and that this is an intermittent problem whichcaused owner to have an accident. Dealers told owner abs brakes do not work in dry wheather.

The abs system failed three times on 4/15/08.the vehicle is a plymouth grand voyager, 1993.i almost hit a car that was turning in front of me.then the abs and parking brake lights lit up on the dash board.i barely made it home without hitting anything and parked my car in the garage.when i went out a few minutes later to take it to a mechanic nearby, the brake pedal dropped when i turned the key to start the car.the brakes were mushy until i got it to the mechanic.he confirmed the problem is with the abs system and that it was covered under the recall.the byers chrysler dealership now has the car and is claiming they cannot reproduce the problem and will not replace the abs until they can.i do not want to kill myself or anyone else with a braking system that may fail at any time.

The abs light and the park light illuminated.also, the brake pedal must be depressed all the way to the floor to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was not in the remedy scope for recall# 96v099000 subject: brakes:hydraulic: anti-skid system; although the vehicleexperienced the same symptoms as the vehicles affected in that recall.

We have had chronic problems with abs system failure over the life of the vehicle. I understood plymouth was supposed to guarantee the abs system for 100,000 miles and the pump/accumulator/master cylinder for the life of the vehicle. This is certainly not a reliably safe system. The dealer info i gave was the dealer we purchased the vehicle from. Our current dealer is buzz leonard in panama city, florida 32405.

The passenger door has flung open, while driving, twice.i consider this a safety problem, while driving.the manufacturer says that it is not a recalled item, so they will not address it.they also will not give me a supervisor to talk to about the matter.no matter how many miles a vehicle has on it, as long as it is maintained well, keep in good condition, and has not been in a wreck, i would think this should be addressed by the manufacturer.it is dangerous.i quote a recall of the jeep cherokee, 1993 action number pe95047there was a failure of the door assembly welds.this is the same year and the same company that manufactured this vehicle i own.thank you for your attention!for information:brad davis, at customer center toll free number 1-800-992-1997 chrysler corporation told me that he calls it, as to whether the chrysler corporation will accept a claim for the fixing of this problem. He would not give mea supervisor to speak with about the matter.he said he made the decisions.billy the service manager, at rick justice, 1105 south frontage road, meridian, ms. Said that they would not file it with chrysler.i would have to pay.it isn't a safety matter.also, the vehicle has too many miles on it. Both brad and billy said this. Mileage has nothing to do with body, if the car has been maintained.i still contend this is a safety problem.i look forward to hearing from you.

I was driving on a surface street at 20mph when all of a sudden it felt like something slammed into my van.inside if felt like an earthquakewith the car jolting from back to front. The whole interior was making terrible noisesi i thought the whole car was falling apart. I got out to look there was nothing on the exterior. I tried to lift the hatchback and could not. When i was able to get it open, the hydraulic cylinder on the rt had snapped off from the car frame. When it happened, my steering wheel jolted from my hands and i was pulled to the lane to the left. Had there been a car there, i would have had an accident. I went to the service dept and was told there had been a recall on this part in 1992 but it did not cover my car year, which they thought peculiar because it is the same part that had been recalled the previous year. They told me to contact you to follow up and notify them with an authorization number and they can repair it under warranty. I called your vm but no one has returned my call. I will also contact the auto safety hotline. Thx cherrie dolloffi should be home by 3pm from work

My windshield wipers have stopped working. I first noticed a problem last winter early 1999 when the wipers began stopping in an up position instead of at the bottom of the window. They still worked until a couple ofmonths ago when they stopped. The motor still works but the wipers don't move. I looked at the assembly and saw the pivot arm has disconnected from the shaft of the motor. I called your office and found there is a recall. You gave me chrysler # and i called them, but they have not recalled this problem yet. Why would this be delayed? i need my wiper fixed but don't have the bucks at this time. How can we get chrysler to speed up? recall #836.
