My 1999 plymouth breeze caught fire under the hood while sitting idle at a fast food drive thru. A bystander ran up to my window to advise that my car was on fire, he saw flames coming out of exhaust pipe. I then proceeded to get my 2 year old and sister out of the car. Firemen came to put the fire out in the car and stated it was some type of electrical fire. I had no warning of this no warning lights inside the car whatsoever.

Vehicle just died in traffic, restarted after while. A code come up on instrument cluster (no bus).had a service technician to look at it and it would not deliver gas to injections.

1999 plymouth breeze shut down & would not start, had towed to archer dodge, first told the problem might be shifter cable. & that there was a recall. Then told this was not the problem, they needed to run diagnostic test. Then told the pcm was the problem. Called & was told the car was fixed, went to pick it up & car would not start, still the same as it was when towed. Car stayed in shop. Called 2 days later & was told car was fixed, went back to archer dodge to pick up car, car would not start, same as it was when car was towed again. Told now they would have to do diagnostic check again & this will cost about $185.00. I asked if the diagnostic show anything the first time they ran it, & was told no. I called chrysler customer service in auburn hills, mi.about the matter, was told there was nothing they can do, asked to speak to a supervisor, & was told no they do not talk to customers. Checked different forums on the internet & found out that i was not the only person having this problem. I feel that this could be a safety problem, for this is a electrical problem, so this could be a fire hazard, or if this car shuts down while diving this could be accident looking for a place to happen. Asked chrysler what should i do, when i own a chrysler product, & chrysler does notknow how to fix it. Why should i have to pay for chrysler to do a study & pay for parts that does not correct the problem. They just told me that this was my problem. Please help me with this problem, for i was told there is nothing that can be done for there parent company is located in germany, is this true, if so i feel the american public has a right toknow.

My 3 1/2 year old son was getting in the car and bumped the gear shift while the car was off, no foot on the brake and no keys in the ignition and it rolled backwards across the street and hit the neighbors tree resulting in $3100 in damage to trunk and bumper. My insurance had to pay even though i reported it all the way to the attorney general.chrysler stated we should have done routine checks and would not pay to fix the defect or damages.recently there was an alert in consumer report and there have been many incidences of the same nature.what's it going to take before they send out a recall?luckily my son was not injured.i can't switch car insurance because it was recorded as an accident and i would have higher rates which is in my opinion chryslers fault.

Vehicle was purchased 4/11/02. When i took the car in for its first oil change, i was told the head gasket on the 2.4l engine was leaking and it was recommended i take it to the dealer for a replacement. The dealer informed me the warranty was for 3 years or 36,000 and the best they could do was replace the head gasket for $630. I declined preferring to take it to someone i trust. I have since learned of at least two other people that had to replace their head gaskets at less than 60,000 miles.

Head gasket blown.estimates range from $700 to $1500 to repair.this seems to be a common problem with this make and model of vehicle, both plymouth and dodge from other complaints on this web site and repair shops.is there a recall or any help to repair from chrysler?

It seems as though everyone that owns a plymouth breeze must replace a head gasket.i know this may not be a safety concern in general, but an environmental hazard is apparent.considering the anti-freeze and oil that is dumped on the ground as a result of this defect.it is a very costly repair to make, and is very common among owners of these cars.unfortunately, not everyone knows the sources to go through to address these problems.i am bringing it to you in hopes that you will investigate this defect.the average working class family cannot afford to fix these types of defects while damiler chrysler seems to get away with this obvious problem.no one to my knowledge has died, gotten injured, or crashed due to this defect, but think of the environmental hazards due to this vehicle considering the amount of oil and antifreeze dumped on our highways every day.i would love to see chrysler held accountable for their actions.being that my husband must commute to work every day, our car is desperately in need to be fixed.unfortunately, it will cost us $700 to fix the blown head gasket.we are still saving up to fix this problematic car.

My 1999 plymouth breeze has only 70,000 miles, the mechanic says in need a gasket replaced, that he has seen so many that there should be a recall. Can you assist me in getting this problem resolved?*nlm

Oil pan is defective. Spoke to precision care, my local branch, he says his company has warned their own technicians that the bolts that hold the pan wear out much earlier than on other cars.it should be recalled. This a plymouth breeze.

Consumer noticed a oil leak, mechanic determinedheadgasket was blown.

While driving at any speed and withno warning the vehicle stalled and was difficult to restart.*nlm.

I noticed that my car was running quite differently. I had it checked out and was told that i have a leaking head gasket. I only have 28,000 miles on my car. It is a '99. There is no reason for me to have these issues with a car that has barely been driven. I called chrysler and told them of the issue. I was told that since it was no longer under warranty there was nothing they could do for me and that it was my problem. This is obviously a defect on chrysler's part. I've spoken with others with the same defect.

The head gasket failed.

Informing all that they have gasket problemsall above has been documented to chrysler corpi have all documentations.

The vehicle experienced an oil leaked, the dealer determined the head gasket was faulty.

Defective head gasket on 1999 plymouth breeze with 39,387 miles. Vehicle was purchased 4/11/02. When i took the car in for the first oil change, i was informed the head gasket was leaking and it was recommended i take it back to the dealer for replacement. However, the dealer told me the warranty was good for 3 years or 36,000 miles and their only offer was to replace it for $630. I declined, preferring to take it to someone i trust. I have since learned of at least two other plymouth/dodge owners thathad their head gaskets replaced at less than 60,000 miles. Daimler chrysler needs to address this issue in a manner other than charging the owner to replace a defective part.

Defect caused engine to seize, all power lost, including power steering.difficult to control car. Stopped in middle of heavily traveled street.

I have had my front brakes, right or left rotor either resurfaced or replaced, every 2-3 months.i have 3 incidents of smelling something burning and nothing found.my alternator had to be replaced 2 months ago, the bolt to my alternator broke in two on 7/10/00.

When driving you can feel cool air go from cool to warm and back to cool, two dealerships and chrysler local representative refused to fix the problem because the vehicle tested the shop okay.when the outside ambeint temp is 100f. The inside temp of the car is 87f. What is happening is the temperature control door is not down all the way and it is oscillating causing the cool air to be heated up by the heater core, causing the inside of the vehicle to be warm.i have faxed chrysler on this problem and i had no reply.to me i feel that i have a warranty problem with chrysler and this vehicle.if i cannot get chrysler management to reply, i will repair the vehicle myself.

I brought my vehicle to my dealer to get an oil change done, and i was informed that my gasket that controls my gas was cracked, and it had to be replaced. I was charged $460.00, and i was never shown the old part. I don't even know if there really was a problem considering the fact that every time i bring my car to get an oil change, a "problem" usually occurs, according to them, but no part is ever shown to me.

The oem fuel pump fits into the gas tank.the positive wire leading into the tank shorted out melting the wire insulation on the outside of the gas tank melting the plastic into causing gas to leak out through the hole it created.this gas flowed over the bare wire.the same wire continues into the inside of the gas tank and it continued to short in there causing the plastic inside of the gas tank to turn brown from the heat.my concern is a spark would have been created perticularly if the tank was partially full the fumes would have ignited causing a serious explosion. The dealership where i bought the replacement part said there are no recalls and the same holds true with the data on your site.the concern should be there are thousands of this model type out there that may have the same dangerous condition.

Trunk would get wet from underneath spare tire. Was not coming from outside oftrunk. Will be going to dealership to have problem resolved.

I have a leak somewhere in the trunklid area the same ascomplaint #877208.after sitting in a rain or snow storm, the lower half of the trunk lining, from the top of the spare tire down, gets soaked with water, with no obvious indication as to where it's coming into the spare tire area. Thecover over the spare tire doesn't get wet. After partially removing the trunk lining, found some water on top of trunk near the back seat, but can't be sure that is the problem, or even where it would come from to get on there and no where else.

I drove my car for about half an hour to a interview for a job, it took me maybe 20 minutes to get there and 20 minutes to get back home. I parked my car in the driveway went in to the house 5 to 7 minutes after i returned home the car was on fire. Thank god i wasn't in it when it caught fire. I called the fire department they put the fire out. I called the manufacturing company that made the car and they sent someone out to the location where the car was left burnt to a crisp. A week later i received a letter from them telling me it wasn't there fault. About a month later i got a recall notification in the mail telling me the car was on recall for the very same reason it caught on fire. Ii am still being told that they are not going to do anything about this problem because they don't have to. This is the reason why this country is in the shape we are in now because big company's such as chrysler can sell anything they want to the consumer and get away with a slap on the wrist. They don't have to replace my car or help to replace it. It is not right or is it fair to the consumer when you trust these companies with your life and buy this garbage they throw together and we unknowingly buy it thinking it safe to drive. What happened to for the people, i guess as long as you are rich you can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't affect the wrong people. Who is looking out for the little people when they don't know who to trust. I hope that what i experienced was not what the fiber of this country stands by. Instead of receiving big bonuses they should have made sure that there product was safe for their customers.

1999 plymouth breeze car temperature gauge gives off the wrong reading.*mr the windshield wipers and air condition did not work.

Windshield wiper motor had to be replaced , as it kept unhooking on the drivers' side.that side gets snow packed down in there and the only way to get it ,out is if you raise the hood.that's hard to do in a snow storm. Had to replace this wiper transmission costing $256.60.plus now i have to return to garage to get blades realigned to work correctly.there should have been a guard or something to stop this snow build up. Thewipers stopped both times in a major snow storm, which was scary and dangerous. I feel this car is only four years old and shouldn'thaveneededthis part replaced. I was lucky that iwas able to get home without this causing an accident.
