Scooter stopped suddenly as if it ran out of gas resulting in being stranded on road. Scooter would not restart until 45 minutes later when evidently the fuel pump cooled down. Failure occurred with 1/2 tank of gas and 600 total miles on odometer. Dealer diagnose failure as fuel pump. Fuel pump failed again at dealer after 30 minutes of idling. It took vespa 3 weeks to send new part to dealer before replacement could be done.
Fuel pump will quite when hot, scooter stalls while driving. Won't restart for one hour.
My 2009 vespa gts 250 will not re-start when the bike is hot.this happens every time i ride the bike for 30-45 minutes then stop and turn off the engine.you must wait approximately one hour or more for the bike to cool before it will restart. It also died once while i was riding it in the middle of a busy intersection in washington dc on a hot july day...very dangerous!the only thing i have done so far is to let the bike cool before restarting or to add cool gas to the tank to bring the temperature down.i am afraid of riding it too far and getting stranded or taking it on the highway and it dying on me.
I own a 2009 vespa gts 250 and i've heard numerous problems that faulty fuel pumps are causing people to stall often while driving which can result in serious crashes. I was at a stoplight and my vespa stalled while in traffic, i had to push it back over to the gas station in moving traffic. I took it to my dealership and its a faulty fuel pump. Please do something about this as it's not safe. Also, replacing the fuel pump seems to be the only means and it takes often 3 weeks since piaggio doesn't stock parts very well.
