Read complaints for PIAGGIO GTS 250 (2007)
This complaint concerns the failure of the brakes onboth the2005 vespa 200gt and t he2007 vespa 250 gts. The exhaust seal on both of these scooters/motorcycles disintegrated/incinerated which caused the hot exhaust to flow out onto the brake line. When this happened the brakeline ruptured. This caused the brake line to lose pressure which then prevented the rear brakes from functioning. In essence ,the rear brakes failed once the exhaust caused the rupture of the brake line. When this brake failure occurred on the 2005 vespa gt i went to the vespa dealer in columbus,oh and asked for the parts to be replaced because the scooter was still under warranty. The dealer said he could send me a new exhaust system, but all i needed was the seal.he saidhe would try to get the seal and would send both to my home in charleston, wv. They sent me a brake line and a seal , but the seal was not forthe scooter. Because this brake failure occurred in the fall i did not try to repair the scooter with the parts sent by the dealer until the spring of 2007. By the spring 2007 the scooter was no longer under warranty.i used the brake line they sent and repaired the seal as best as i could. Since there was no replacement seal available. According to the vespa dealer the seal was not listed in their parts manual. After therepair the brake line ruptured again as a result of the hot exhaust blowing on the brake line.the same type ofbrake failure occurred with therecently purchased 2007 vespa gts. This failure occurred on june 7, 2007. I purchased this scooter from a private owner so the warranty did not cover this damage. Because the dealer indicated that the seal was not available on the parts list i have only done a temporary repair, just enough to bring it home from where the failure occurred.
