I have a 02 olds intrigue and it has a flickering in intensity issue with the headlights.this is a driving distraction not just for me but anyone in front of me ...as they may feel brighted or it may distract them and they may vere away from me.i have had people slow down when directly in front of me because they thought i was signaling them with my lights, also god forbid a cop ever see my car doing this here in mo they may think i'm warning others of a cop in the area. I've read up on this and gm says its normal operation but yet many of us owners are having the same issues. They put out different altenators but the only one i've read abt success with cost upwards of $400+ dollars. This is a defective altenator issue that drops out for a few seconds and thats what causes the pulsing of lights. If i wanted to be in a dance hall i would go, my vision is already compromised and this is a serious distraction.

Parked car at work, sat for 7 hours, would not start at end of shift. Acted like dead battery but with no click. The turn signal lamp and socket had to replace 3 times on passengersside and once on drivers side. The socket over heats and melts so the turn signal does not work and the light on the dash board flashes fast .it is a on going problem .ireplaced the socket pig tails at 45.00 each.

Turned car off and wipers stayed up in view of driver after turning car back on. Same time low beam headlights stoped working! only high beam work!
When driving at night, the headlights flashed off and on. The owner has contacted the dealership. On three separate occasions the battery died and a new battery was purchased. Also, there was a hole in the exhaust system, the consumer purchased a an ignition cylinder, and alternator.

This is a safety issue as some time you can turn with no problem, other time it takes additional effort to move the steering. You never know what to expect!! i suppose it could totally fail at any time also!! the oldsmobile garage (burke) has ordered a new power steering pump and will install it next week at a cost of five hundred and ninth four dollars to me. They say there have been no recalls or service bulletins on this problem. Old parts will be available when removed next week .
With no reason the engine will cut off, leaving me with no power to steer or move. Have been to numerousrepair shops and they can not find the cause.i think it is the electrical switch that needs to be replaced.the cost is approximately $ 500.00.will general motors pay for this? should this not be on the recalllist?this is highly dangerous as someone could hit me when it stalls.

Consumer was backing out of the garage and the steering wheel failed.consumer was unable to turn or move the vehicle. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that the steering pump/housing shaft, and bolt needed to be replaced. 2002 olds intrigue gx.bought it 3 weeks ago.not sure if this happened all at once or gradually over a period of about 3 hours-- my spouse was driving the car.power steering stopped working when turning to the left; still works for right turns.it is very difficult to turn at city driving speeds (10 - 35 mph), and nearly impossible to turn when parking.power steering fluid level is okay.no repairs yet by the dealer.we should not have to pay for repairs!!!this poses enough of a danger, even if you know of it in advance and are strong enough to turn the wheel manually.i believe gm did a recall for a similar problem on their 1998 intrigue, in 2004.are they just waiting until enough people are injured in the 2002 models to decide to do the right thing?we shouldn't have to pay $1300 for the dealer to fix a faulty/cheap/irresponsible design on gm's part, one that persisted for four years after the initial design.

Dt: the wheels been leaking air due to corrosion. Replaced 10 tires andstems. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced all 4 yesterday, a couple of weeks ago replaced 1.there chrome plated aluminum wheels that came with the vehicle that have the corrosion build up. Dealer stated that they have seen others thatwere worse.the valve stems were leaking.
Headlights are very dim and look yellowish. Also, dealer replacedalternator, and all switches ondash get very hot.consumer is afraid a fire may start.pleaseprovide any further information.
