The airbags did not deploy even though the vehicle was hit firmly around the passenger's side front tire and front fender and hood, the vehicle was a total loss. The steering did not seem to want to work and the seat belts did not lock in place.

Consumer was hit head on and both airbags experienced no deployment.

Consumer 's vehicle was traveling about 50mph and another vehicle rammed into it. Upon impact, airbags didn't deploy.

Electrical problems with vehicle.power loss and possibly surges throughout entire vehicle.replacing alternator will not solve issue.all wiring is tightly connected.

The 2000 oldsmobile intrigue randomly does not start and sometimes leaves the family stranded.after 30 minutes or so of waiting, it may start right up.it has taken up to a day to restart. It started within a couple years of purchase, but has getting worse as time goes on.randomly occurs 1 to 2 times per week.the dealers have not been able to find a problem.

Consumer was traveling on highway and without prior notice electrical system went out.dealership was not able to resolve problem.

No injuries as of yet but a default in the left side directional (signal) turning light.works for a day and then burns out creating burn plastic in the socket, could lead to a wiring problem causing the alternator and such to burn out.

I believe that i am experiencing the very same issue as addressed in investigation #ea02037.however, i have a 2000 olds intrigue.i have tried checking the fuses and wiring, but recently discovered that by moving the hazard switch, the blinkers start working again.currently i have flaky turn signals and when they do work, only the back signals light and blink, while the front signal light comes on, the front signals do not blink.i have to "jiggle" the hazard switch daily and have had no luck finding a replacement switch.as of today, i have narrowly avoided several accidents while turning left because the cars in front of me cannot see a working signal.please advise.

The alternator has been replaced twice, alsothe headlamps flicker and have shut off while driving, dealer discovered that the bolt for battery ground cable bottomed out in block not allowing cable to ground consistantly, consumer began to experience problem again, dealer inspected the wire harness, installed a new body control module, dealer stated lights dimmed when air was commanded on, however consumer was informed that vehicle is operating normally.

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled on several occasions, but was able to be restarted. The dealer stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Complete power interruption while driving for just a second, causing all warning lights illuminate. As well as flicker headlights.

2000 olds intrigue - car purchased new. 3 of the 4 power window motors replaced at $600 per window within the last 9-12 months.car presently has 57k miles.transmission repaired twice before 6k miles.steering noise present since almost new but seems functional (dealer stated this is "normal").alternator and thermostat/assembly have been replaced.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Consumer experienced numerous problems with vehicle. *tathe consumer stated when he attempted to start the vehicle, the security light illuminated and the vehiclebecame disabled.after waiting 45 to an hour, the security light went out and the vehicle would start.also, at times the vehicle would stall in the midst of driving. There were times, when the consumer removed the key from the ignition and the engine would continue to run. Recently, the abs, brake light and traction light illuminated. The crank sensor, ignition lock cylinder, and control module needed to be replaced.

2000 olds intrigue will not crank intermittently.once it cranks car starts and runs perfectly.has been into dealer several times, but to no avail.crank sensor was replaced 2/2006 at my expense.it made no difference in cranking problem.also has flickering problem with headlights.alternator has been replaced twice at gm's expense.

Ever since 2010, i have been dealing with a serious gm passlock anti-theft system issue. It began with my vehicle not starting one day. It had power; all of the dash lights worked, radio, etc..., but it would not start. At first, i had no idea what to do, but i would always somehow get it to start after a lot of punching of the dashboard and shifting my gears rapidly over and over again. The problem slowly started occurring more frequently and i began to do some research on it and figured out that it was indeed an passlock system malfunction after confirming that my security light would blink when the vehicle would not start. I could get it to start after waiting 10 minutes with the key in the on position, when the security light would stop blinking after that 10 mins, i would turn it back to the off position and then back to the on position and it would start up, resetting the passlock system. Eventually, in 2012, the problem was occurring usually every 3rd attempt at starting up, and the passlock system reset trick would not work 9/10 times, it would sometimes take hours for me to get it to start. In november of 2012, i was driving on the highway and my car slowly starting shutting down, all warning lights flashing, and all the interior lights dimmed down to nothing, luckily i was able to pull over unharmed (also about 2 weeks before this, my driver's side turn signal relay system completely blew/failed). I found out that my alternator was completely drained and dead, so i replaced it. This fixed the problem for about 2 months, and then it started occurring again every now and then and has been occurring intermittently ever since; the passlock reset is currently working. Considering that the alternator was only a temporary fix, this is obviously a malfunction of the gm passlock system. This is very dangerous and has caused harm to my life (eg. School & job effected)

Overheatedand shut off and now won't start.

2002 oldsmobile intrigue. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle ignition and seeks reimbursement. *tgwthe consumer stated the ignition cylinder was replaced two years ago.

Security light had been coming on and off for a few days. I stopped at a card lock petroleum station for gas i went to start car and nothing, engine didn't even turn over. A local farmer gave me a jump, still nothing. I used his cellphone to call a mechanic friend of mine,he told me it to wait 15 minutes and try again. He said if it stilldidn'tstart that i would have to reset it and so i wrote down the instructions said thank you to the gentleman for the use of his phone. I waited still nothing. I performed the procedure turning the ignition on forten minutes off for 5 seconds and repeat and so on. I live in north dakota this was in januaryand it was below zero. I put on a pair of insulated overalls and a full lengthww iinavy pea coat. I was getting scared, it was now dark and i hadn't seen anyone since the farmer. I was really getting cold, my hands, feet nose and earswerestarting to ache a little. I spent another 3.5 hours trying to start my car. Thank god a couple stopped for gas or i wouldn't have survived .by then i was really worried about my feet i new they were frostbite. I was very lucky i still have all ten toes. When i found out this is a commonproblem for gm cars and thousands of people have been left stranded and no one has addressed it,i was in was in total disbelief. General motors employees ceotosalestomr.goodwrenchshould be ashamed of their neglect.

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. While attempting to start the vehicle, the ignition failed to start. The vehicle restarted after several attempts. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. That approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle shut off and the buzzer on the dashboard beeped. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and was restarted. The contact called the dealer who was unable to explain the failure . The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure recurred twice, but was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Consumer states problem with check engine light and a.i.r. Pump *tgwthe consumer stated the air conditioner failed and was blowing out hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers' side. The wheels were no good. The plating on the inside would come off and create problems for the tires sealing properly, therefore an uneven wear occurred. The consumer also stated he began to have steering problems, there were several lights coming on the dash and going off, but the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. The consumer began to investigate and discovered the part that was causing the lights to illuminate was the hydraulic brake modulator which cost $1,000. The transmission would shift hard at times and sometimes whine while driving.the turn signals did not always work or they would shut off while blinking.when the cruise control was activated, and the turn signal or head lights were activated the cruise control would deactivate by itself. The rear passenger window stopped working and the sway bar was cracked. Also, the gas pedal would stick at times. The heated seats were too cool on low and too hot on high.

Trouble starting the car on occasion, "misfiring" on occasion and outright no starting led us to have the crankshaft sensor, starter and camshaft sensor (twice) replaced, at a cost of over $900.00. Further we responded to recall n140350 "unintended ignition key rotation". The dealer replaced a rubber ring in the key to stop the weight of the keys from turning the ignition off. (i think?) after all that the car does start but occasionally on the highway it will stop running, with no other noticeable problems. We would pull over (not always easy to do in a highway!) and the car would start up immediately. Sadly this has happened 5 times in the past two weeks. We are afraid to use our car, which is a 52,000 mile beauty but too dangerous under these conditions.

Failure of 2 power window regulators within 1 year. Window fell during normal driving.

My blinkers on the driver's side (front and back) began to malfunction and would only work intermittently in 2010. This went on for about a year and then the passenger side blinkers (front and back) began to malfunction in the same manner about 6 months later. This went on with both sides working only intermittently for 2 years. Then, suddenly while driving at night and trying to make a left turn in mid 2012, the passenger side blinker started making very loud electrical glitch sounds and then completely blew and my car died with it. I had to replace the alternator shortly after and the passenger side blinkers worked perfectly, but i had to drive with out my driver's side blinkers until mid 2013, when i could not pass dmv required inspection.i paid to have the driver's side blinker relay system replaced and it worked for about a month but then both driver and passenger side blinkers started working intermittently again. Within 1 month, the driver's side blinker relay system completely failed again (passenger works, except i have to wiggle and mess with the emergency hazards lights to get it to even turn on at all). Now i have one pair of blinkers not working at all, and one that is intermittent, 3/4 of the time it works but only if i distractedly wiggle my hazard light button while trying to turn or change lanes. Mechanics are baffled and don't know what too tell me! this is a dangerous condition for anyone to be driving with and i fear it will cause an accident someday soon. I have also had the same issue with my headlights intermittently dimming that has been reported by many gm consumers since i started driving the vehicle in 2007.i do not want to have to pay another mechanic to replace my driver's side turn signal relay system, just for it fail again due to these dangerous electrical system problems in my 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Gm needs to act quickly!

My rack and pinion went out on car. I was driving and suddenly could not make a left turn.also my lights on my dash board come and go and my turn signals works when they want to.my head lights dim on and off at night .

Car shuts off driving 40mph or faster sometimes wont start dash lights go crazy off and on had it maintaintanced many times still does not stay started and shuts down when driving had contacted gm and they will not help me car was recalled for a new key and since than car has been acting up

I noticed the headlights dimming on their own about a week after i first started driving the vehicle. It occurs intermittently, and very often. I have heard the headlights switching into different modes like this both a night and during the daytime hours. This poses a serious distraction to oncoming traffic on highways and other roads and could confuse other drivers at stop signs. Gm should address this issue immediately; i have seen many other complaints on this very same issue. [note: i believe this issue may also be linked to a serious issue with the turn signal relay system. I have had intermittent blinker issues and failures on both passenger and driver side since 2010, and it does not appear that the replacement of the turn signal relay system solves the problem, it did not for me (filed separate complaint for turn signal issues experienced)]

The ignition switch while driving if you use blinker the car will shut off the dummy lights come on and off when there's no need for them and now the car wont start

Passlock problem, the car will not start.i wait 15 minutes and it starts. This is a random event and has happened 5 times over the last 3 years.

Blinkers on a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue will quit working intermittently.temperature and humidity seem to be a factor.multiple taps on the hazard switch will restart the blinkers temporarily.thisto be a known problem in the olds alero of the same period.see nhtsa action number :ea02037.

Purchased my intrique in october of 1999, at that time i noticed in the evening while drive the outside lights would brighten and dim extensively, where to the fact oncoming drivers would flash their bright lights in my eyes causing me hard time viewing the road, can you imagine what they thought when my lights were doing this to them, and who knows how gright the beam wasin their eyes, because it seems as a power surge going on. With no controlof mine. I also notice the blower while on defrost has the same type of surging going on and thats when the lights gowith a mind of their own.i brought it back to the dealer they replace my altenator, seemed to help for a while.now, each year when the weather gets cold and you need the heater on high, for defrost mode the lights and blower will do this again, i have no warrenty left on my vehicle, i have notice just this past week that the low coolant light stays on for longer period of time my engine seeems to be startingharder, but as the car warms up things seem to be better not fine , but better.i am a single person now, i bought a new car so i was safe on the road. I have parents who are physically diabled no and rely on me for various reasons, and that includes using my newer car.i work in a piston plant that makes many gm pistons, so i know how particular car companys, feel about what goes on inside these engines, and i know the effects if we happen to fail to do our quatlity job.so why, what does it have to take before, this problem with thelighting and electricall complaints of this vehicles engine, before some one dies due to the bright lights in the oncomingtraffic orwith the car aging and who knows what else this could be doing to that computer, with the power surges, before on of us owners loose all power and plows in to a tree, another car, we have no right to go out and kill people in this country, our cars are to to be driven, no at weapon ion the road, with a disaster waiting to happen.

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. While driving at a low speed, the engine stalled without warning and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). After the vehicle was serviced, the vehicle failed to start. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

My car stalls while i'm moving! i bought the car from a used lot in aug 2014, shortly after i received a recall notice.i took the car in to a dealer and the dealer put shells over the keys & supposedly didwhatever else was required in the recall.shortly after that,i was having a hard time starting the car, i took it back to the lot where i bought it this time. Their mechanic checked it out & determined the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced.so they replaced it.recently my car is having a hard time starting but more importantly, my car will stallwhile i'm driving!this is scary to be going 25-45 mph and not be able to control my car! this morning i slowed down to turn a corner & it just shut off on me and i could not turn the wheel!caused my to come about 2 feet from hitting a median & almost be rear ended!my kids rode in this vehicle & one or all of us is gonna end up seriously injured or killed!this seems to be a serious issue with these vehicles & it needs to be fixed & quickly!i can't keep praying to have this fixed once a year nor should i have to! this issue needs to be addressed immediately & there should be a recall out regarding this issue!

Lights dimming and flickering, started at 7,000 miles. Repaired windshield wiper arm which was disengaged from wiper transmission @ 29,318 miles. Lights went totally off at night and check engine light came on @ 40,269 miles. Dealer changed. Alternator and mass air flow sensor.dealer said to use ac air filter instead of fram air filter.wiper arm broke again @ 43,349 miles, dealer replaced wiper transmission. Check engine light @ 63,455 miles.dtc (diagnostic trouble code) indicates (maf) mass air flow sensor.code was cleared and then came back on @ 64,355 miles.same maf code. When this happens the car will hicup, lights go out and engine stalls for a fraction of a second.this last time the dtc indicated the car was traveling at 62 mph. In addition, the front tire wore to the cord in 38,000 miles.rear left tire with inside tire wear in 10,000 miles. Discussed problems with factory rep with no results.car appears to be a safty problem.

Headlights and heater/fan dim constantly.most notable upon accelaration.temp gauge also fluctuating from normal to over heat status.

When driving and upon using the headlights, radio gets very hot to the point that one can't touch it.also, not a change within the passenger compartment temperature when the headlights are on. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Radio replaced, but problem is still occurring.*ml

Headlights, instrument lights, and fan dim and or flicker while driving. The problem is most prevalent when the temperature is colder and during acceleration. However problem also exists under normal city and highway driving conditions. Engine performance and radio does not falter during the dimming of the lights. Alternator was replaced following tsb 010603001 one year ago. Problem appeared resolved until cold weather set in again.

Communication failure from main computer causes car to stall and sometimes not even start as well as a/c heater and cruise control works once and a while. Contacted dealer and was told a person from the services dept would call me back. They didn't. Talked to another person and told then about the car stalling and not starting and they told me that it was either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. Replace fuel filter, didn't help checked fuel pump but it was working just fine. The car has stalled out on the highway many times and has but my life as well as my childrens lifes in danger. When it dies the power steering and power brakes do not respond. Just today i had a basic computer scan done which told me the problem. The place that did the test informed me that is the #1 problem with the oldsmobile from 1997-2001. I was also informed that gm is aware of this problem, but they wont do anything until a death results from it. Gm needs to step up and fix these problems. This is also a problem with the alero's (2000 model).

While driving down the road at any speed the computer shuts down and the vehicle shuts down completely, when hitting a bump on the road.provide further details.

The contact owned a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted independently and caused the driver to drive into a ditch. 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Consumer writes in regards to recall notice and pressure regulator replacement. *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle would just stop, in the middle of the road. After the pressure regulator was replaced, she didn't experience the problem again.also, the gear shift handle broke twice.

The major complaint i have with this automobile is the electrical system. The lights constantly flare and flicker as if they are shorting out. Gm has claimed that there was a problem with the alternator and after a substantial wait for a remedy that being a redisigned alternator gm still has not fixed the problem.the lights have flickered on and off since the auto was purchased. The mechanics at my dealership have tried but failed to find the problem . The alternator has been replaced twice one by the dealer in desperation and again when the newly redesigned from gm arrived after nearly6 months from the original promise of a fix came in .my greatest fear is that the computer in this car will fail with all the power surges being put through the electrical sytem. In my opinion this has manifested itself already with the need to reprogram the computer in this car.as this auto was purchased new i would have thought i was purchasing a vehicle free from defects. I hope that this vehicle doesn't turn into a money pit. Thank goodness these problems began while under warranty hopefully gm will continue to honor the warranty after it expires.

200 oldsmobileintrigue. Consumer had difficulty starting the vehicle. *ss.the consumer was informed there was an issue with the reading of the key.the consumer sold the vehicle for $300. The consumer received recall letter # 14v40000 three weeks later.

While driving at night the head lights intermittently went from bright to dim.when using the heater fan it would go from high to low or from low to high.please provide further information. Consumer said that this condition had occurred several times during cold weather.alternator was redesigned but didn't correct the condition being experienced by consumer.*la

While drivingheadlights dimmed without warning.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The fan blower motor also went up and down while the headlight were dimming.

My headlights flicker and dim which is dangerous during nigh time driving, so i am unable to drive when its dark out. Also my blinkers work off and on. I feel gm should cover a recall on these problems.

Steering wheel locked and became hard to turn have had several parts replaced and problem still is happeningi have owned the car sense 2007 and have not received any information on recalls or service updates.... Turn signals all have functioning lights but front lights will not blink on their own.

Takata recallwhen i drove my 2000 olds intrigue home my electrical system shorted out. Power steering went out ,car will not start or anything..the vehicle was in motion, but now is stationary.

Headlights and all electrical will dim and fan for heater will slow and the power of the engine will lull for a few seconds does not matter what speed i am going noticeable mostly at night with use of head lights

Bought car oct 2000 as a used auto.immediately had problems with it.has been in shop for each of these 4-5 times at least.it has a vibration in the steering system.midshaft was replaced, but it returned.olds did say they would attempt to fix this.ordered a new intermediate shaft, but they could not find what was actually causing this problem.been also in shop for lights flickering, heater surging, temp gauge running hot.alternator was replaced after a 3 week stay at the dealer.this problem returned 3 days before midshaft was to be replaced the 2nd time.called dealership that was going to replace shaft, and decided to hold off until we could settle this with olds.olds is not trying to rectify easily.i am reporting this to better business bureau at this time.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Ignition switch was replaced on vehicle. *ta

I went out to start the car today an it wouldn'tstart.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue.consumer writes in regards to vehicle shut-off while driving and airbags never deployed.the consumer stated he was driving on a flat street, when the vehicle shut off. He went off the road and hit a wall.the consumer stated he had several keys on his key ring.

The alternator ripped out of the engine block.this resulted in the vehicle stalling on 3 separate occasions. When this occurred the vehicle lost power steering and brakes, which almost caused an accident.mechanic indicated that he had never seen anything like this before, and didn't know what could have caused it.

When drivingat night with headlights on,without any warning headlights will completely shut down ,causing poor visibiity fordriver. Dealer has not been able todetermine cause.intermittently, the head lamps flicker and shut off. Alternator failed.alternator was replaced twice, once because it was charging 14.2 volts.left rear tire cupped badly, causing noise, no specific tire information given.

Headlights dim on and off, heater fan goes on and off, interior lights go on and off, took to dealer and was told alternator voltage regulator is bad. Replaced alternator and it fixed problem.

Problem seems to be getting worse. Dealer is unsympathitac towards this problem. Dealers and repair shops are inconsistent in their diagnoses of the problem. Gm refuses to acknowledge that a severe problem exists until someone becomes injured or gets killed becaue of it. The nhtsa has opened an investigation into this persistent problem and gm still is unphased an apethetic towards the plight of the consumer. No safety defect listed.

Allinterior and exterior lights will spontaneously dim. Dealer has replaced alternator, and inspected electrical system, and could not findcause.problem still occurs.dealer is ordering another alternator.

The headlights filcker at various times and this alternator has been replaced 3 times.the dealer has done all that they can, but the alternator failure is a design flaw with the 3.5l engine.i have been told that this is not a major problem, but the 'flickering' has become more regular and seems to happens for a longer duratation.i look forward to a solution from gm on this.

Hornlocation on the steering wheel pads are hard to find when necessary.wheneverhorn is hit without looking directly for the pads, itwould not sound off. Would have to search for a certain spot on the pad to hit forhorn to sound.hitting area of air bag makes horn blow.fear of hitting steering wheel cover to hard might cause the air bag to deploy. It is hardto find the spot in case of emergency.

The contact owns a 2003 oldsmobile intrigue. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, who stated that the ignition switch would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000. Updated 7/30/14updated 8/17/17

2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Ignition switch looses contact intermittenly causing the engine to stall.

The car will not crank the starter at times (about 3 times a week). Sometimes it takes two tries, sometimes it takes 35 tries, it will not crank over. All of the electrical items work fine, but the engine will not crank over. When it eventualy does the car starts fine and runs fine.

Passlock problem, the car will not start.i wait 15 minutes and it starts. This is a random event and has happened 5 times over the last 3 years.

Consumer states that the computer on the vehicle malfunctions and causes the vehicle to shut off when the consumer is at a complete stop. Nlm

As i wasdriving, the car stalled in the traffic. Passenger compartment filled with smoke making the passengers cough. Floor gear console was burning hot. Floor of the car was extremely hot ,forcing me to stop the engine and abandon the car for fear of explosion.

I love my intrigue except for the bugs that seem to keep popping up. My car starting cutting off just going down the road and it would start back up by itself. I took it to a olds dealership to have it checked out. They could not find anything wrong, so they replaced the computer and then it showed the problem. The computer showed the ignition switch was bad. They replaced it and everything is now good. It even stopped the dimming of the lights at night, which seemed to be problems on all intrigues i have read about.

Intermittently headlights lights blink on and off, obstructingview ofdriver.dealer has replaced various parts inelectrical system, and has not been able to correct the problem.

Headlights flicker on/ off and go dim.dealer will be notified. Please and more information.

I have only had this vehicle for 3 weeks but i have noticed that the lower part of the radio and the fog lamp switch get very hot.particularly at night.i did notice that the foglamp switch cooled off a bit if i turned the fog lamps on.the lower part of the radio and the top part of the climate controls stay hot.this could be a hazard for young children and possibly a fire hazard. That's how hot the area can become.the wiring in a vehicle should not be generating that much heat.i have not contacted the dealer yet.i will be having the vehicle serviced in the next week or two and i will mention it at that time.

The headlights pulsate at night. Also, the dashboard lightsbecome dim, then become bright. The dealer finds no defects.

Takata recallwhen i drove my 2000 olds intrigue home my electrical system shorted out. Power steering went out ,car will not start or anything..the vehicle was in motion, but now is stationary.

On 1/15/2013, i attempted to start my car and nothing happened. I had to have my car towed to firestone, 302 w. Michigan ave, jackson mi. 49201. (517-782-0361) they diagnosed the problem as a faulty ignition lock cylinder, and it was replaced. They had to reprogram the passlock system, as well as having to recode the ignition cylinder. Mileage was 124,550. My bill was $435.95. As there was not a recall out at that time, i am requesting reimbursement for a faulty part manufactured by gm/oldsmobile.

After rounding a curve and seeing a deer and thinking how lucky i was that it didn't jump out in front of me, my engine died and i lost control of the vehicle.it went off into the drivers side ditch and hit a field driveway culvert with the divers side tire, which ultimately bent the frame and totaled my car..however, the airbags did deploy and i had only a minor injury.my elbow went through a drivers side air vent.since my car is totaled and the recall sounds like it was the cause, can i get my car fixed or some kind of compensation?i had a lot of keys on my car ring as a work for the city.

When i drove on high way or local, suddenly the car is power off, engine and power steering do not work at all, need pull over restart several times, then drive a while this happen again. This happened several times in the past years.i got recall 14350 and the dealer fixed the key ring, i thought the power off problem is gone, but it happened again, this may cause crash and serious injury. I don't know what i can do for this, i cannot afford new car and definitely will not sold this defect car to anyone else.

The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician repaired the failure but the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was included in recall nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Gustman dealershhip handled my complaints.gasoline was found in the coolant, and the resulting repair bill was $3025.00i feel that the oldsmobile/general motors companywas responsible for this defect and ought to pay for the repairs since itbecame known to me that they already had a repair kit , which implied that they knew of this problem beforehand.updated 10/15/07.

My car's engine is overheating.i took car to dealership, but they don't want to fix the car.they claim that it is not under warrenty.i took the car to another olds dealership and they are going to replace the thermostat and thermostat housing, but this is going to cost me.this car is still under it's extended warranty.

The car has overheated on 3 different occasions. The 1st incident was on rte 95 at night which makes for a dangerous situation.the dealer checked the carand claimed nothing was wrong.from this point on we watched and realized that the temperature gauge went from the middle point up to the top ofthe gauge frequently. We brought the car back to the dealer again and were told that gm said that the operating temperature was anywhere in the white zone. This past weekend we drove about 40 miles from home and twice the car overheated. The 3rd trip back to the dealer happened on a day that gm field techs were in the dealer service area. According to the service manager, these techs were aware of the problem. The temporary solution was to "shim" the thermostat. The service manager says that gm is working on the problem. My complaint is that the car can fail anywhere and gm is not telling their service people about the situation. I would not like to hear about someone getting hurt or killed because of a breakdown. Thank you for anything you can do about this situation.

2001 olds intrigue overheats at temperatures less than 30 degrees.olds did a redesign on this faulty thermostat but no recalls on vehicle.vehicle could easily heat to the point of engine fire or strand the vehicle in cold climates. The consumer stated the vehicle continued to snap and pop when turning the wheel and over small bumps. The consumer took the vehicle several times, with no answer until recently, in which the dealer stated the steering column should be replaced.the window motor and thermostat failed.

While driving the vehicle began to overheat.the vehicle was taken to the dealer where theyreplaced the thermostat and thermostat housing.*mr *nlm

Headlights and heater/fan dim constantly.most notable upon accelaration.temp gauge also fluctuating from normal to over heat status.

Car leaks on passenger side. Now the heater doesn't work.

Metal "shims" that hold thermostat in place failed - causing thermostat to dislodge and create a restriction, hence causing superheated air bubbles to form directly under the temperature sensor. This caused a falsewarning emergency alert on the dash which influenced me to pull over on busy interstate 95 where i became a road hazard and was almost hit by a 18 wheeler.took the problem to the dealer, who fixed it.but it came back 2 weeks later and i had to have it fixed again. It has since not returned.

Vehicle is leaking oil, andwithin3,000 miles all of the oil has completely leaked out ofvehicle . Dealer cannot determine cause.please give any further details.

My car is leaking oil to the extent that it is dangerous to the car.within 3000 miles all of the oil has completely leaked out of the vehicle.no oil is evident in any parking spot.the problem does not occur all of the time but has happened 4 separate times in the last year.the dealer cannot determine the cause.

Various problems with 2000 oldsmobile intrigue.the pcs light came on, the front passenger seat belt came out of the floor while the vehicle was in motion. During a blizzard the windshield wipers ceased. The crank sensor was faulty which rendered the vehicle inoperative.

Head gasket failure left me stranded on the side of a highway far from home.this occurred after about 8 visits to numerous gm dealerships who were unable to diagnose the cause of lost coolant.over $3,000 in repairs later, we discoved that this is a common problem for this vehicle that needs to be recalled.

Car dies at highway speeds . Been to dealer 4 times . The dealer changed the crankshaft position sensor twice . The fuel pump and battery once. When car dies it will not start untill it cools then it will run normally untill it happens again. Dealer has said general motors has had a bad batch of crank sensors. When the car shuts down at speed it is very dangerous .once it happened on a bridge , im afraid of a bad accident if they cannot resolve the problem.

Engine stalling at multiple speed, vehicle been to dealer on two occasions, but problemreoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

Intermittently, vehicle shutters when coming to a stop, turning corners, and starting up.its getting worse. Dealer was notified, and unable to determine the cause.consumer states there is a service bulletin on file regarding this problem, however gm has not determined how to correct the problem.

When driving over a bump in the road vehicle stalled. This has happenedon three occasions.dry conditions, no prior warning. Dealer cannot remedy. The turn signal and hazard lights periodically stop working.nlm

My 2000 oldsmobile intrigue with the 3.5l motor overheated.i had the vehicle towed to my dealer and after a week was advised the motor had to be removed and the heads pulled.apparently due to the reaction between the steel head bolts and the aluminum motor, the threads corroded and gave way allowing the head gaskets to leak.since the car had 113,000 miles on it, it was past warranty though i feel gm should have put some type of coating on the bolts to keep this corrosion from occuring.cost in this case approached $4,000.

As i wasdriving, the car stalled in the traffic. Passenger compartment filled with smoke making the passengers cough. Floor gear console was burning hot. Floor of the car was extremely hot ,forcing me to stop the engine and abandon the car for fear of explosion.

My rack and pinion went out on car. I was driving and suddenly could not make a left turn.also my lights on my dash board come and go and my turn signals works when they want to.my head lights dim on and off at night .

Lights flicker, gauges flicker while driving, fuel pump will not always engage and now car will not start.

No injuries as of yet but a default in the left side directional (signal) turning light.works for a day and then burns out creating burn plastic in the socket, could lead to a wiring problem causing the alternator and such to burn out.

When driving over a bump in the road vehicle stalled. This has happenedon three occasions.dry conditions, no prior warning. Dealer cannot remedy. The turn signal and hazard lights periodically stop working.nlm

My headlights flicker and dim which is dangerous during nigh time driving, so i am unable to drive when its dark out. Also my blinkers work off and on. I feel gm should cover a recall on these problems.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue - random blinker failure usually for a couple of miles after start.same problem as described in nhtsa action number ea02037 and nhtsa campaign id number for the oldsmobile alero.

The 2000 olds intrigue has the turn signals go out on occasion.the hazard switch is causing this.

The vehicle experienced the same defect as stated in recall 03 v 327 000, however the model of the vehicle was not included in the recall. Turn signals stop working, the dealer replaced the flasher unit.

Headlights flicker during cold nights (below 30 degrees).cars think i am flashing my high beams on or off and want to pass.this has caused a number of drivers to become annoyed with me. I have not noticed this happening lately since the temperatures have been above freezing at night.

I have a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Since i purchased the vehicle i have noticed that the headklights flicker. And, wehn i say flicker i mean they almost go totally out then come back on. I ahve taken it to the dealer where i purchased the vehicle. Have ran a computer scan on it, which showed no error codes, they insisted that it was the a/c compressor kicking on. I admit it is possible, but not to the extent that it is happening. Which, is constantly. As long as the headlights are on. There is a flicker, i checked the bulbs, there is no corosion around the connectors, all connections are tight. I have joined an online forum for the model vehicle that i have and almost all of the other users in the group have experienced the same thing. I would like something done about this and have no idea who to contact. I have a wife and 2 small children, so, naturally i want the vehicle to be safe. The dealer (simmons-rockwell in hornell, n.y.) or www.simmons-rockwell.com. They insist that it is the a/c. Well, it has been below 40 degrees pretty much everyday since halloween of this year. And i haven't ever turned on the a/c in the car not once. Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. And i know there are others out there like me that have the same problem but, don't know what to do about it.thank you.

The headlights pulsate at night. Also, the dashboard lightsbecome dim, then become bright. The dealer finds no defects.

Headlights continually dim and brighten while driving.took car to dealer (downtown olds, warren, ohio) and they said nothing wrong could be found.)

The headlights will "flicker" while driving, doesn't matter what speed.this was reported to the dealership while under the warranty period.at that time, the service technician stated that he was aware of this problem and that the only thing that he could do was to replace the alternator, but didn't think it would completely correct the problem.the alternator was replaced and it did not correct the problem.my vehicle does not have any additional "after market" equipment installed that could be causing a "strain" on the electrical system.

While driving headlights will dim down and come back up.also, this happens with air conditioning, it will slow down and speed up.dimming of the headlights may send wrong signals to another driver.

Headlights operate poorly.

Consumer states that all vehicle lights will intermittenly flicker on/off while driving.manufacturer advised consumer that problem is "normal" operation within vehicle specifications and there is no remedy. Ts

Headlights dim, causing poor vision of the road ahead.this is an accident waiting to happen!!

I bought the car in the spring from a gm dealer.now, that it's in the winter, when it's cold, the headlights flicker badly.it's dangerous.it's tied to engine rpm.at idle, the lights are fine.as you accelerate the engine, the lights flicker down.....they get dim and flash back to normal.i just replaced the battery and it made no difference.it's got to be in the alternator/voltage regualtor.this is a safety defect.the lights are supposed to work like the lights on every other car....it'll be nearly impossible to duplcate because when the car gets warm, the problem goes away.

Automatic headlights dim/flicker to the point that oncoming turning drivers think i am giving them the high beams to go ahead and turn in my path. I nearly had one high speed head on collision due to this problem. The defect seems to be related to street lamps and ambient lights.

Known tsb does not correct problem. Safety issue as headlights dim substantially.

Ongoing problem with head lights intermittently glowing up and down.vehicle been in / out of dealer's shop on three occasions, andproblem still occurring.please provide any further details on this matter.

The headlights will intermittently flicker/flash.this is especially noticeable when the air conditioner is engaged.

While drivingheadlights dimmed without warning.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The fan blower motor also went up and down while the headlight were dimming.

Headlights flicker on/off and dim, dealer will be notified. . consumer stated the problem was reported and the dealer informed consumer that they are aware of the problem.

While driving at night time and turning onairconditioningor when turning on heater, headlights go out. No prior warning. Contatced dealer, and dealer said that " it's a normal condition, and thatthe problem cannot be resolved."

I own a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue and while driving down the road the headlights will go dim to the point of almost being off. Not only is this dangerous to me and my family of 4 it is dangerous to others driving towards me. I have taken this back to the dealership where i have bought it on several occasions and the problem still remains after 2 alternators and a computer was replaced. They did however find that the problem is a sensor for the antilock braking system, it is some sort of sensor that detects when a wheel isnt turning fast enough and it kicks a motor in that makes it catch up causing the loss of power to the lights, thus causing them to dim. They said it has been recalled for the same problem in the bravada, s10, gmc envoy, jimmy and sonoma. They said it is service bulletin cqb00-18. It states that the ebcm loses a wheel speed sensor signal and it will activate the abs motor monentarily, since the motor may draw up to 100 amps the lights will dim or flicker during the cycle. The brakes do not have to be applied for this condition to happen. The loss of signal could be caused by faulty wiring, a bad wheel speed sensor or sensor ring or air gap (worn brakes). None of these have been repaired on my vehicle because they stated that this did not apply to my vehicle and they could not repair it even though that the same problem exist in over 200,000 intrigues of the same year. I would greatly appreciate you looking into this matter and making the dealerships reapir this problem by issuing a service bulletin.

While driving at night a malfunction occurred within headlight assemebly which causedheadlights to completely turn off, cause unknown. Dealer replaced alternator twice due to a service bulletin, dealer also found on one occasion that the bolt for the battery ground cable had bottomed out in the block not allowing cable to ground consistently, dealer also found thatwhen the air pump engages the lights dim, consumer was told by the dealer that the lights flickering is normal, however consumer states the lights come on and off as they please.noise heard from the rear, dealer found right rear tire cupped badly, consumer did not give any specific tire inforamtion.

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the sunroof detached damaging the sun roof frame and vehicle. The sunroof was closed at the time of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the laminated material had deteriorated causing the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. In addition, the contact stated the turning signal lights failed to illuminate intermittently and in order for the lights to resume normal function the hazards light had to be illuminated. The approximate failure mileage was 290,000.

I own a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue and the turn signal lights work intermittently or not at all. The mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with the lights when the car was put on the computer. According to consumer reports, it looks like the same problem occured in the 2000-2001 oldsmobile alero. The only way i can get the turn signal lights to work again is by pressing the hazard warning switch twice. Sometimes this will make the turn signal lights work for a few minutes or up to a few weeks. What can i do from here?

Windshield wipers stopped while driving due to ice and snow.the "transmission assembly" unhooked due to this.an extreme safety hazard existed because of inability to clear windshield while driving.this happened again 2-27-01.there must be a design flaw but gm will not do anything to prevent it they will just repair it when it happens.a second dealer said they are getting 5-6 a week with this problem ( this was dave cross motors816-524-2233 .i cannot drive this car in snow or freezing rain without fear of the wipers stopping and causing a potentially fatal accident but gm doesnt feel it is a problem "just clear the snow and ice away and it wont happen".i want them to design something to prevent this from happening not merely fix it when it happens.i also wanted this to be on file for others who may have these cars to prevent them from having an accident .thank you for investigating this design flaw.

My 2000 olds intirgue's power steering fails only when i turn to the left.i will not drive the car as i think it is dangerous.in reading online, i have discovered that gm recalled this problem on 98 and older cars, but has done nothing for the newer cars although they are aware of the problem.$1300 is a very expensive fix for a car that is not very old and i refuse to pay it.

While making an uphill left turn at approximately 10 to 15 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn and went over a sidewalk. We have a 2000 olds intrigue.while it was still under warrenty we had the steering intermediate shaft replace and the steering tie rod replaced.the steering has always seemed to be a problem.2000+ miles after the warrenty went out the power steering rack went out which will cost approximately $1200.there was a pop noise when i was backing up and from that point there was no power steering for left turns but for only right turns.we had the car towed to the dealer and was told it was a good thing i had not driven because the entire steering was about to go out on it which would have most likely lead to a wreak.this is the same problem that was occuring on the recalled 98 model.the dealer service manager refuses to discuss and will not give us the name and number of his manager.gm has said there was nothing they could do since it has only had problems with the steering.

I currently have a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue that i have taken in for servicing due to sporatic shut offs while driving to the servicing department carmax. I have taken the car in repeatly over the past year and the service department claims there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. Thisproblem is a hazard to myself, my family and others . The cars service engine light does not stay on, the power in the vehicle deminishes at sporatic times turns off locks the front wheels and will turn on once we get the wheels to unlock there is no sign the car is about to turn off. It has turned off on the street , in the expressway and luckily we have not been injured or injured others. The service department is not making an effort to remedy this issue they claim due to the service engine light not turning on there is nothing they can do. I have left the olds at the dealer to have them drive it around untilthey find the problem. I have gottens calls from the dealer stating there is nothing wrong . Now i need your help what can i do? i am under warrantyand this problem is not being resolved .

I went out to start the car today an it wouldn'tstart.

Our lights dim, heater fan cuts out, heat gauge goes all the way to hot, interior buttons are so hot you cannot touch, oil headlight comes on even though we have reset it and oil has been changed.

I saw a safety recall for my vehicle up to the years 1999 for a oil leak onto the manifold causing fires. My manifold also has been doing this, although no fires at this time. The model years should be extended to the 2000 model year.

Car shuts off driving 40mph or faster sometimes wont start dash lights go crazy off and on had it maintaintanced many times still does not stay started and shuts down when driving had contacted gm and they will not help me car was recalled for a new key and since than car has been acting up

The contact owns a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue. Whenever he started his vehicle and began driving the vehicle suddenly accelerated occurred four times. Each time the vehicle was taken to the dealer they stated that they could not duplicate the failure. Due to the failure occurring intermittently the diagnostic test would cost him a $100. The manufacturer was called and claim #71847623579 was filed when they informed him that there were no recalls. The failure mileage was 93,000 and the current mileage was 95,000.

Run-away idle speed.prior to incident vehicle was driven 15 highway milesbefore stopping at a store - fully warm.upon restart 5 minutes later, vehicle had abnormally high idle, 1500 to 2500 rpm.idle did not drop during 6-mile.drive home.had to put transmission in "3" or "2" versus "d", just to try andkeep vehicle speed under the 35 mph limit on residential streets.oncehome in driveway, put vehicle in park - idle climbed to 2600 rpm.scary !ambient weather was about 70 f, with clear skies.opened hood nextmorning.the accelerator / foot-feed seems to work smoothly, and iand saw no obvious problem with throttle linkage.the oil change "counter"had been re-set 2 days earlier, via the foot-feed.sticky cable??vehicle: 2000 old intrigue gxvin: [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dt: contact states while driving vehicle the gas pedal stuck.the service dealer replaced throttle body and the gasket.

When the outside air vent is on, carbon monoxide can be smelled in the car. Noticed on longer trips.

Our lights dim, heater fan cuts out, heat gauge goes all the way to hot, interior buttons are so hot you cannot touch, oil headlight comes on even though we have reset it and oil has been changed.

Car leaks on passenger side. Now the heater doesn't work.

Over the last 1 1/2 years i have had to replace all four window regulators on my 2000 oldsmobile intrigue because a plastic part broke. The part holds the cable that moves the window in the door. These repairs have cost me almost $1800.

To minimize windshield wiper breakagemanufacturer has converted the car into a deathtrap. Snow and ice must be removed for proper operation of the wipers. If wiper operation is tested to determine if the wipers are free, and this indeed not the case, a serious problem arises. The nut holding the wiper assembly loosens very readily under very little strain. After some interval the driver operating under inclement conditions finds he has very limited or novisibility when the wipers cease to function or function erratically. In my case, among other things, the right wiper came over the left wiper, pinning both in place directly in front of the driver. Upon contacting the dealer i found this was a very common, frequent occurence very familiar to their maintainance department. The wipers can not normally be repaired or rendered operable on the spot, (who carries the correct size metric wrench or is aware of the necessary adjustment ?). The owners manual does not warn of this deadly hazard, or provide information on repair or adjustment. I do not believe an automobile so equipped is safe to drive in winter wheather. No accident or damage occurred in my case. The potential for damage and death, however, seem enormous.

Headlights dim, flashers fail intermittently, windshield wipers point straight up when turned off. This is a car with an excellent engine and transmission.unfortunately alot of the electrical components have started to fail. Will purchase service manuals (3 books) from ebay on work on the issues this summer.

Various problems with 2000 oldsmobile intrigue.the pcs light came on, the front passenger seat belt came out of the floor while the vehicle was in motion. During a blizzard the windshield wipers ceased. The crank sensor was faulty which rendered the vehicle inoperative.

Windshield wipers do not park... Have repaired every year since i purchased the vehicle in 2001. Repair involved straightening a rod at the wiper assy.just the wiper barely frozen to the windshield will cause the problem as well as wiping windshield in snow storms. The wipers park in the up position, causing a problem with having a clear view from the windshield. This site lists many incidents of this same problem.a new wiper assy is the only fix and at over $300 for the part not including labor, that is unacceptable. Especially if the new unit has the same design flaw. This is a clear danger....

While traveling during inclement weatherwindshield wipers come on and off intermittently.

Wheel bearings and hub failed.this could cause failure of steering and tire contact with road.also causes tire to "toe" in or out when turning, causing vibration in steering wheel.ford currently recalling focus for same defect. Dt

Interior of all four of the wheels flaking off and cutting the valve stem of the tire.

While making a right turn at about 20 mph left front wheel came off. The dealer stated that the wheellug nuts have a defect in the metal and that is what caused the wheel to separate.the vehicle went out of control causing damage to chassis and engine.the consumer says this vehicle was not safe.

While driving 30 mph front driver side wheel came off. Consumer managed to pull over, and had vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

4 chrome plated aluminum wheels on my oldsmobile intrigue have corroded and are leaking air through the hole supplied for the valve stem. They still leak after replacement of the valve stem because of a poor corroded surface.mechanic indicated that wheels need to be replaced before there is a blow out of the valve stem.

2000 oldsmobile intrigue, vehicle was westbound on the ohio turnpike when the right front tire came off.according to the police report, all the lug nuts and bolts were sheared off. There was damage to the front fender. (ohio traffic crash report # 10-0247-89)updated 08/06/10
