The rear right and left brake calipers have both failed..the left one was completed replaced back in 1993 due to complete lock up.the right brake at the time was ok. Then this month i had a brake failure in my driveway..i kept trying to make the parking brake work for nmonths and it never did. Then when i took the wheel off to looks a the brakes the left brake had burned up the outboard shoe only and not the inboard shoe..this chewed up the rotor. The right side had been doing nothing..the shoes still looked new except for dirt..the pucks had stuck out and left the seals rolled and nothing would reset. It first cost me $144.00 plus labor in 1993 to replace the left rear caliper which just failed again. Now i had to have all the rear brakes done over and i have copies of the recipt.( dot number:)

I have a 1990 oldsmoble cutlass supreme. A recall #00065 for gm was done on my car and only the front cradle bolts and retainers were done.but upon reviewing nhtsa's recall#00v189000 the front and rear should have been done.since the refusal from gm the rear bolts have come down and my engine is leaning back.i have talked to the dealer twice and the manufacture gm 3 times and they both say that they only have to do the front cradle bolts for their recall and not the rear.i also have my original receipt that says only 2 bolts and retainers were bought and installed.

Consumer receivedrepair kit sent for recall00v189000.however, consumers complaint is that bolts sent inrepair kit are not "lock-tight," and "bushing" thatbolt fit into are corroded.consumer states he took vehicle to dealer for bushing retainer replacement, they advised consumer he was responsible for repairs and front alignment, consumer bought the parts and took vehicle to an independent mechanic, the mechanic then showed consumer there was not a lock on any bolts that were used, consumer was advised that alignment could not be performed because the holes in the cradle that the bushings fit into were rusted too bad to hold the bushings tight and would not hold alignment, consumer states he is unable to drive vehicle.

Nhtsa recall 00 v 189 000/manufacturer's recall 00061/65 concerning engine cradle bolt: while being serviced for an oil change, technician informed of a severe corrosion around retainer bolts. Dealer and manufacturer were notified, they informed consumer that this vehicle was not covered under recall due to vin.

After receiving a recall notice frommanufacturer took vehicle to dealerfor cradle bolts replacements. But, attime of replacement consumer found out that cradle was rustated.the front sub frame failed.

The car was originally purchased in my wife's name (judy lynn melin now judy lynn waldrep).the mileage listed is approximate (car is sitting at dealer).while my wife was driving the car through a busy intersection, the rear cradle mount dropped and she lost control of the car.other cars were swerving all around her to avoid her.through some miracle, she did not strike another car or any object; the car rolled to safety, but my wife was very shaken.we found out that for this very type of car, in other states, gm/oldsmobile did a recall (97016) in several states, but not ours (minnesota).we have heard local media reports about this problem occurring in mn, and the state attorney general's office is involved.we have called oldsmobile and spoken with the dealer.neither, at this point, are willing to help us.we just want to recoup our losses.we believe the manufacturer should pay for all repairs and all our out of pocket expenditures; they are fortunate there were no personal injuries or they would have a large lawsuit on their hands!please help!

Ltr fm bryan grant (nj)*mr. The consumer received a recall notice regarding the replacement of the front and rear frame cradle bolts, the dealer only replaced the front frame cradle bolts and retainers, however months later the engine had fallen from the vehicle, which left the vehicle with no steering capability andsubsequently the vehicle had to be towed, the consumer was informed the rear frame cradle bolts had separated, which was suppose to have been replaced during the initial recall.

Was driving and lost control of car because the structure frame came loose, bolt was still attached to car .

On apr.12,1996,my girlfriend was driving on the expressway when she felt vibration in the steering wheel she immediately drove home and asked me to check on it. I drove the car for one block noticeing that the steering didn't feel right. As i drove from the stop sign, the car shook violently as if it had just been hit. I lost control of the car(no steering),and hit a telephone pole, wrecking the front end. Upon inspection of the car, i found the motor sitting on the ground detached from the car. I had the car towed home. It wasn't until two weeks later that i found out about the recall on the cradle bolts. I then took the car to the dealership to have it looked at. Two weeks later i recievad a phone call from someone at gm. The man i talked to said that they wouldn't fix my car because (the way he described it) the frame surrounding the cradle bolt had rusted, not the cradle bolt itself. In my opinion, any spot on a peice of metal that starts to rust will cuase the surrounding areas of metal to rust also. When i explained this to him,he insisted that this was not true and that gm was not liable for those kind of circumstances. In all, he told me that gm would not even be able to just replace the recalled part because of the extensive damage to the subframe, and that i would have to pay for all repairs to the car. I told him that i was very unsatisfied with his decision, and he said that he still refused to even try to help. After that, i didn't know what to do. I stopped making payments. Two weeks later, i arrived home from work to find that my car had been towed back to my house and left with the keys in the ignition and no prior notification of this. I let the car sit and as a result of not knowing what to do and not making payments, the car was repossessed. This probably isn't the right channel to go thru, but is there anything you can do to help me resolve this matter? i would appreciate any help you can give me.
