The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 201,000.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. The contact stated that when he purchased the vehicle, the air bag light was illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection where they would not advise the contact why the light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 120,824.

Dt: contact's wife was involved in an accident.while she was pulling out from a stop light/sign an oncoming vehicle struck her vehicle from the side.upon impact, the front air bags did not deploy.the vehicle has not been inspected to determine why the air bags failed to deploy.didnot know if the vehicle was involved in a previous accident.

For the last 4yrs. I have been problem after with this car.especially with the rack and pinion i have the rack and pinion replaced twice in a two and half year radius.now today on 7-18-12 i have to get another rack and pinion.its has to be a defect because it always break during hard left turns or bracket breaks only on passenger side.their are a lot of electrical malfunctions such as engine light is always on for various reasons abs light blinks on and off, check oil light, and the check stability system.gm needs to recall this vehicle for all the cost i have to put in this vehicle for rack and pinions is ridiculous. This is goin to be the third rack and pinion since i had the vehicle.

Oct. 02, 2013 - reported to gm dealership car will not always start, start intermittently and will stall while being driven.diagnosis andrepair (reported bad crank position sensor) $547.74 (invoiced 886353)oct.03 - 04, 2013 - reported to same gm dealership car still stalling while being driven (stalled twice in traffic). Diagnosis and repair (reported bad ignition switch) $178.86 (invoice 886383)the 2001 oldsmobile aurora needs also be reported as having ignition switch problems.

Vehicle lost power while driving and suddenly died.the dealer did not seem to have the knowledge of how to repair the problemor even what was causing it. There was some thought, that it was caused by the anti-device and/or the computerized key.

I bought a 2001 oldsmobile aurora in 2003 being a single mother of 2 children i wanted a safe car with low repair i was told the 5 star engine is the best and low maintance i paid 15.900 cash for the car on the way home it was acting fun lights flickering gas pedal sticks and you can't push it down, then the gas gauge quit working oil was leaking all over hub in the front of car went bad i took it to the shop and it needed a oil sending unit, fuel sending unit front hub job, after another 1.700 in repairs now i am hold the head gasket is ready to blow and the gage says low oil pressure i had it back to the shop and they say they don't know what is wrong.then i ws rear ended at a stop and go light due to my head lights and tail lights going on and off. My onstar don't work 3/4 of the time due to my gas gauge not working i ran out of gas and then the onstar didn't work either only if the car is running.now it also says defected airbags on the dash. Please get to the bottom of this also there was a chip in the windshild i asked is that a crack in the windshield the salesman said oh no it is not when i got it home it was a crack itn it i called and they told me you drove it off the lot there is no warranty.

I am writing to you to detail an issue with the brake system on this vehicle. I have had this issue with no brake pressure or very little for months now and in september of 2014 i took the car to a shop to have the brakes checked.the shop told me the master cylinder needed to be replaced at my cost and i allowed them to replace the master cylinder. When i drove the car home it seemed as if the problem had been corrected. However,i had an appt with my dr. And had no issue getting there. Leaving the appt and onto the freeway home and i noticed again brake pressure had become lacking again. I got off the major freeway and took sidestreethome and as i got even closer to home the same issue had returned. I had almost no brake pressure and by the time i got around the corner from my home the low brake fluid indicator had come on. This had never happened before. There were no leaks of brake fluid from this vehicle before. I would notice such a leak . Taking it back to the shop the next morning the shop foreman indicated to me that it was now the abs unit which was now leaking brake fluid and that it needed to be replaced at a cost of over $1500.00. I checked into a recall for this abs leaking issue and not only called gm but checked my vin with the database and now i am being advised that this vin is notin the recall list for the same issue that over 8147 units have had. I do not understand why if this is a known issue with other vehicles same make and model and year why i am now forced to now be without a car since i cannot afford to replace this abs module at this specific ridiculous cost and i cannot drive the car being the huge safety hazard it is being without proper brakes. I cannot get my car to pass utah state inspection either which means i cannot license the car for the year. I cant get to work or anywhere else i could kill someone or myself with no brakes.

We purchased this vehicle on 9/2007 with 65,327 miles. The 1st year or so, it was ok, except for the emmisions system which they repaired. Over the next years, we have had to replace the brakes, rotors constantly! then the stability control light kept coming on warning of the abs/traction control problem. Then, my lights starting going out in the car, dash, computer system warning area, and head lights flickering. The car shakes excessively when i try to stop and go over 55 miles an hour on highway to the point i think the front end is going to fall off! in the summer (as now) my gas pedal sticks! i have tried to contact gm about this problem, but they told me although a recall on all the same problems as this car is having was done, my vin number was not included! it's the same year, model and problems..and still they would not help us. I was told to have a complete diagnostic done on it at my expensive to see what the problems were--seriously gm? i can't tell you how many thousands of dollars i have put into this car already and still cannot afford to get it fixed or have gm own up to these problems. I have researched this car and year extensively and have read nothing but complaints about the same problems and gm not wanting to do anything. I can't afford to fix it, and on limited budget and cannot get a loan for another car due to limited income...so now i am stuck with this car and pray that nothing happens to me while driving on the highway and i will not let my grand chrildren ride in for fear of their lives!..this is a big issue and really does need to be looked into please.i now have 125,000 on it but only drive if i really need to very short distances.i believe whole heartedly that this problem is worth investigating because it is a safety issue whenever driven..please !

Headlights flicker really bad, usually when vehicle isn't at temperature and accelerating. I usually watch my digital voltmeter and my voltage jumps from 12 volts to 15.5 (normal operating voltage is usually 14.8) almost instantly back and forth. I drove it on its first long distance run of about 80 miles and after my lights flickered for about 3 minutes the check engine light popped on. I just bought this car a month ago and while i was reading the maintenance log the alternator has just been replaced.

They vehicle suddenly and unpredictably turns off.this results in lost power steering, power brakes.the vehicle must be restarted.this occurs while the vehicle is in in motion, transmission in drive.repair technicians have been unable to identify a cause for the sudden failure.these failures have occurred on multiple occasions.the most recent occurrence.

I bought this 2001 aurora used in 2015. The check engine was on and when i questioned previous owner he stated it was a sensor that needed to be replaced. I took it to an independent auto repair shop and it was put on a diagnostic machine and there weren't any failures, alerts or faulty sensors detected. June of 2016 my dash board system stopped working. I can't see my odometer the gas hand doesn't work and it has lost all illumination. I've had fuses checked, replaced etc. In october 2016 my air conditioning unit stopped working. Replaced compressor, to no avail. The heater only blows warm air on the passenger side of vehicle. Occasionally i get a low fuel warning when i'm just idling even though i have a full tank of gas. Have had a low tire pressure warning since i've bought it, and replaced all 4 tires with brand new ones, been to 5 tire shops to see if they can reset sensor. Most my problems seem to be electrical. The dealership cannot or will not give me information. I love my car, and want to keep it. Help please.

On 2/4/2015 bought a 2001 olds/aurora from an individual, nice and clean drove it back to hometown approx 60 miles. I than drove it to a corner store and while leaving the corner store, i drove to distance and all of a sudden, steering wheel, brakes, anti-lock system and all electrical shut off completely. Thank god theirwas no incoming traffic.....

We purchased a used 2001 olds aurora in march 2003.we also purchased the extended warranty offered by the dealer.shortly after we purchased this vehicle we noticed the headlights and interior lights flucuating wildly (as if we were turning off the headlights) along with the voltage.the dealer said this was "normal".it got so bad my husband refused to let me drive the car, even during the day in the event the car shut off. We took the car to another olds dealer who, at our request, replaced the voltage regulator, to no effect.this has happened at least 4 additional times.the dealer says they can find nothing wrong with the car, but the lights continue to flash, and now other electrical problems are surfacing, along with numerous blown fuses and bulbs.it is quite distracting to other drivers on the road, in addition to this cars driver, to have the headlights flash constantly, and does nothing to inspire trust in the safety of this car.i am afraid it will shut off while being driven, or possibly have some sort of electrical fire.

This car keep burning out the battery kill the battery in five days dealership can,t find the problem can you help me

The vehicle caught on fire from the gas tank.i had driven the car put gas in the car parked the car and it caught on fire. The fire men said the fire started from the gas system.. The car was parked in private parking lot running.

My rpm shoots up to red and so i have to turn off car and restart. Often car won't start right away. Then awhile later it just dies on me. Quite a few times it has died on the highway and once i almost got rearended and second time i almost ran into the guard rail on the bridge because i had no power and steering locked up, now my gas gage moves to full then down to low fuel and engine light comes on. Had my car put on machine and couldn't read any codes and couldn't find anything. Scared to drive it because i could possibly be involved in an accident when it dies on me again. But have to drive it meaning its my only transportation.

While driving car cuts out, engine stops. No power. After over 3 weeks of returning car to dealer 3 times, the dealer finally replaced a cylinder and the ignition switch.total cost to me:$1,200.00.

The car changes it's charging voltage ranges as it runs and becomes hotter as well as it stops and goes bringing the voltage close to stall status, the car has stalled once and almost stalled two times after that, the dealer has been notified of the problem several times.nlm

Consumer had to turn key in the ignition several times before it turned over.also, gas gauge failed to read the correct level of fuel in the gas tank. In addition, there was a clankingnoise in the steering wheel.dealership ran a diagnostic test, butno failure codesappeared. Dealershipreplaced several parts, but all three problems still exist.

Difficulty getting vehicle to start even after repairs.(nar)*ph dealer was notified.

Program began w/ "check engine" light coming on. Took to dealer (6/10/02); code indicated air pump seized up & found 50 amp air pump fuse blown. Traced to circuit. Replaced exhaust valve, secondary air injection pump & sai vacumm control solenoid. Car returned 6/12/02. When arrived home, smelled burning and heard noise under hood running like a small motor. Returned to dealer that evening: smell and noise gone. Called dealer next day to report and agreed w/ them may have been 'break-in' of parts. "check engine" light came on again following week. Took to dealer 6/21 and found same problem and replacement parts had actually burned and melted. New parts ordered: air pump, relay, connector and replaced in vehicle.on way home, smelled strong burning smell. Pulled off interstate to turn around to return to dealer. Upon going on surface streets, another driver yelled my car was on fire. Pulled off road into a lumber yard parking lot and car burst into huge flames incl. 3 small explosions. Fire department indicated fire was electrical in nature and started at wiring box. Also replacement parts possible source of fire. Car towed back to dealer. Dealer contacted gm who contacted me. Car is under warranty (5 yr/60,000 miles).gm indicated after speaking w/ dealer, they would purchase vehicle back and provide a replacement. However, gm to date hasn't provided any written documentation stating their verbal commitment to give us another car. Phone calls to their office go unanswered. The car has been removed from the dealer's lot (cover up?) and no one can tell us where it went. Our insurance company can't even investigate if we decide to file a claim with them. Gmac is still sending us car payment due notices & wasnot informed the car had caught fire and is completely totalled. We are very dissatisfied w/ gm's response to this problem and think this is a serious, dangerous defect. Gm's claim #: s1-10752551. I hope you can be of some assistance. Thank you.

The engine randomly dies or stalls while in traffic at random times and will not turn back on for several minutes, the vehicle is in motion when the stalling occurs and thankfully only on city streets. Codes have not been present but the stalling and idle leads me to believe it is faulty crankshaft position sensors. In addition to this, the steering column makes an audible click noise when turning past the 12 o'clock position anytime the steering wheel is cranked, it does not happen sometimes, it happens every time. This is most likely do to poor lubrication of a bearing or joint in the steering column. The service stability system light comes on and vehicle chimes as well but the esc works as it should, no matter the driving conditions it comes on, most likely a faulty circuit board.

The vehicle was parked and once i put it into reverse to back out of the parking space, the engine locked up and the steering, brakes, gas didn't work. I had to take the key out of the ignition and restart it. This is the third time that i've had this issue within the last 3 months and the previous 2 instances occurred while the vehicle was actually moving and accelerating. I have had some extremely close calls that could have ended very dangerously because of this issue. I use my car keys without any other keys attached, so that it's as lightweight as possible. In the past year, this same exact issue has happened 8 times and is beginning to occur more and more frequently. I would really appreciate some recognition of this issue.

Customers car came in with a failed starter on the 4.0l engine. Upon removing the intake, it was found that oil had filled the engine valley and shorted the starter out. The oil was found to be leaking from the head gaskets, both sides.

While driving car cuts out, engine stops. No power. After over 3 weeks of returning car to dealer 3 times, the dealer finally replaced a cylinder and the ignition switch.total cost to me:$1,200.00.

I was slowing down at a stoplight, decreasing my speed, alternately using the brake and coasting. The steering wheel then locked up and the pedals stopped working and the car completely stopped. I had to turn the engine totally off and restart it for it to work again.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. While at a complete stop, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted and resumed normally. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an independent mechanic. The contact was uncertain of the repairs that were performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was unavailable.

The engine randomly dies or stalls while in traffic at random times and will not turn back on for several minutes, the vehicle is in motion when the stalling occurs and thankfully only on city streets. Codes have not been present but the stalling and idle leads me to believe it is faulty crankshaft position sensors. The service stability system light comes on and vehicle chimes as well but the esc works as it should, no matter the driving conditions it comes on, most likely a faulty circuit board.

When slowing down to accommodate another car, my vehicle began unable to accelerate and then i noticed that the brakes had locked up as well. I had to take the key out of the car and restart it for it to work again.

Driving at any speed, the car would intermittently sputter or shut off, even in a curve. It finally frightened me so much that i reported it to the dealer on 2/12/2009.the dealer charged me $463 plus tax to replace the front and rear engine crankshaft sensors. This malfunction is very similar in nature to ignition failure and could easily lead to injury. My car is a 2001 oldsmobile aurora with the 4.0 v-8 engine. It had 48,000 miles at the time of failure. The replacement parts have worked as i now have 123,000 miles on the car and the problem no longer occurs.i went online and found 20 other owners who reported the same issues at the following website:http://repairpal.com/stalling-due-to-ignition-module-or-crankshaft-position-sensor-failure-144i believe that a service bulletin should have been issued at minimum.

While coming to a stop at a stoplight, the steering wheel seized up and the pedals locked. The engine stopped. I had to turn the car off and then start it again.

While slowing my speed to get onto the ramp to the expressway, my steering wheel locked completely and wouldn't allow me to turn. Additionally my pedals stopped working and my car came to a stop. I had to turn the car completely off and restart it.

After reviewing the complaints of the oldsmobile aurora 2001 i am having similar problems regarding check engine when going into the dealership to have service they still state that there is nothing wrong when i know that there was something wrong with the vehicle.

Where to even begin with this 2001 oldsmobile aurora v8 so many problems with this car. Right now it smells like it's on fire. I see where gm had a recall last yr but the aurora is not included, and it should be recalled. It also lunges forward when stopped at a light , it also dies when driving it.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora.the contact stated that the 2001 aurora's are not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v116000; however, her vehicle is experiencing the same failures.she would like the manufacturer to add the auroras to the recall and receive reimbursement for the repairs.the current and failure mileages were 85,167.updated 05/07/09.*ljthe consumer stated oil was lekaing from the valve cover. Updated 05/07/09.

Vehicle would stall/stumble on acceleration from a stop or very slow speed. *phthe problem was diagnosed as the crank position sensors. *sc

I was stopped at a light with my vehicle running.suddenly and without warning flames came out of my dashboard burning my hands.

Coolant leak has been serviced about six to seven times. My aurora is currently in the round rock, texas classic gm dealership for another try. Also, the car is being outfitted with a device which will take a picture of the engine /electronic systems to determine why the engine quits while driving. This has occurred about 5 times and i was almost involved in an accident entering a freeway when i lost all power. I have been asked to press an installed button the next time the engine stalls. I often get a hard shift when going from reverse to drive. About 20% of the time. Told this problem could not be duplicated by dealer.

Purchased used olds aurora 2001 v-8 have had nothing but problems with this car, 3 mo after having it, used sunroof for first time, heard loud pop, had to replace whole sunroof, not covered of course. Now whenever it rains, the material is wet and hangs down. But that is nothing compared to all of the other problems with this car. The car when at stop light will lunge forward and almost die, if i coast forward a little it stops for a min. If i want to sit in my car to warm it up, it will die after a min or so. A dealer said it was probably the idle control valve..not cheap but replaced, it still does the same thing. The car also dies while driving it.the car smells like it is on fire, stronger than burning oil smell too. Leaves get into air vents or someplace and then when trying to run air or heat, it sounds like a jet fan is going to blow up. I could go on and on, but this car is not save for anyone to drive.

Engine block casting problem from the factory. Engine leaked and used coolant. Engine replaced @ 8000 miles. Since replacement car has never run correctly, stalls, engine light on, mulitple error codes in computer.

Our 2001 oldsmobile aurora was brought in several times in the last two months because the "check engine" light kept going on.each time they said they fixed the problem and it was related to the "secondary air injection pump".two nights ago we came home and parked our car in our garage, which is attached to our house.a couple hours later we were awoke by a smell, which finally led us to our garage.we opened the door to our garage and it was full of smoke!we heard a humming noise coming from the front of the car, and opened the hood.flames were coming up from the bottom of the car, where the pump was located.my wife and i pushed the car out of the garage and dosed the engine with water, and called the fire department.when the fire department arrived, they said we were lucky we caught it when we did and pushed it out of the garage.if we weren't awake, our house could have been engulfed, and we could have been killed!when we went back to the car dealership the next day, the acknowledged that this a "known" problem, by them and oldsmobile/gm!!we can no longer trust them to do the right thing in fixing this problem and do not think the vehicle is safe!can you help us and what should we do?

Engine suddenly and without warning stalls during idle or while underway.battery warning light illuminates.car typically re-starts without any difficulty.problem is intermittent.engine at normal running temperature.also notice intermittent engine rpm instability, possibly related.(see potentially relevant nhtsa item #'s 636450 and 634706).this is potentially a dangerous condition as engine, power steering and power brakes are lost during stall condition and since problem may occur during normal driving conditions and in heavy traffic.dealer previously replaced engine crank sensors on 1/6/04, which does not appear to have corrected the problem.condition has existed for an extended period, first noticed around 11k miles.usually stalls at idle, 2/10 first time stall occured while underway.

My 2001 aroura was purchased in nov. Of 2002 and was put in the shop about 2 weeks after we purchased it. Lexus of tulsa sold us the car. The vehicle had a blown head gasket and it was already blown when we purchased the car. 2years later the head gasket is blown again. We were told that the gasket was going to keep blowing until we get another motor and that the motor has some internal damage that came from the factory where the motor was built in. We were told that the valve had some combulstion built up in there and was causing the problem and that the problem was the cause of the factory. The car would just start running hot and also it would shut off in the middle of driving without any warning. The panel lights would say stop engine. The car is not safe at all.

While merging onto the freeway at 65 mph, the engine shut off leaving the power off.vehicle difficult to steer.the vehice restarted after several attempts.*jg

Dt: the contact stated car has 57,000 miles on it. When she bought the car it had 37,000miles on it. The contacthad the emission air pump and the transmission control solenoid fixed when she bought the car. She was told those things should never go bad again. Now, the same two problems recurred.on 8-30-05 she had to have the emission air pump replaced. She took the vehicle to two dealerships. Theytold her that these problems should never have occurred , especially twice. On 9-20-05 she had to have the passenger rear tie-rod end replaced.

The rear fog lights are very distracting.they are as bright as the brake lights and could be confused as them.at night they can also be blinding and deter from their real purpose.european cars typically have one rear fog light in the back.this is usually one of the back-up lights.the olds uses two very bright red lights for this.most of the time, this lights are on when they should not be.

This is not applicable to a particular vehicle i own. It is a major concern to me though. I have noticed many 2001 oldsmobile auroras driving around with rear fog lights on under conditions where they are not necessary.the rear fog lights look like brake lights, and more than once i thought the person was trying to stop. I feel this is very dangerous, and someone needs to investigate this issue.

While driving with headlights on, they will blink a couple times, could cause consumer to lose track ofroad. The interior lights go out periodically, the head lights keep blinking.

Originally when turning off the lights at night the exterior lights stayed on long enough for the owner to find his/her way, now the exterior light go off when the vehicle is shut off, the dealer was notified of this problem.nlm

Headlamps dim and flicker while driving.this happened everyday.dealer recently replaced alternator which appears to have corrected the problem after two days of driving.

Headlights dim while driving.

Purchased used 2001 oldmobile aurora (3.5l, v-6) on june 24, 2003 with 19,200 miles.upon leaving the lot i noticed the headlights flickering several times on way home.called dealer and had it in shop 2 days later.replaced alternator.june 26th, 2003 after leaving dealer still noticed lights flickering.called dealer the next week to let them know.they stated it was just a simple change in voltage.continued to notice flickering...so bad it is vert distracting not only to driver of vehicle but other drivers on the road.took car in once again.dealer stated that gm is aware of head lamp flickering and is working to correct the problems.now i notice when my head lamps flicker the voltage screen goes crazy. In the meantime, my warranty is up on sept. 13th 2003.so if they don't find a solution to the problem before then, will i be stuck with paying for it or will there be some sort of recall issued? was told it would be paid for but no written documentation was received. This problem can be very dangerous and could cause an accident due to decreased visibility and distraction.

Headlights dim and flicker at random, temporary loss of headlamps repeatedly.

While driving rear high level tail lights will dim to the point that will be almost impossible forother drivers to seeconsumer's vehicle.dealer had been notified.

Consumer states her gas line keeps developing a whole in it, and she is being told by the dealership mechanic that someone is tampering with her car, so she is not able to get it repaired with the warranty.

Gas gauge reads erratically.

The vehicle caught on fire from the gas tank.i had driven the car put gas in the car parked the car and it caught on fire. The fire men said the fire started from the gas system.. The car was parked in private parking lot running.

While drivingled's on the dashboard went off. Also, there was loss of steering, resulting in a collision that totalled vehicle.

Sometimes when driving the car will attempt to accelerate on its own. If the car is placed in neutral the engine revs and when the car is put back into gear the car launches itself as though the throttle was pushed. This has happened on several occasions and there is no pattern to it. The brakes will stop the car but the stopping distance is much longer then without the engine racing. The steering column makes a clunking sound even after having the steering shaft replaced. This is very noticeable at low speeds or when it is damp out.at times the anti-lock brakes don't feel like they work. The car has new brakes but it didn't make a difference.

Grinding noise in transmission and does not shift without jerking. ****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis***761548

While driving 45 mph transmission failed. As a result, driver engaged the vehicle into third gear and coasted to the side of the road.

Service engine light came on; auto drove rough-problem getting up to speed, andwhen stopped felt like it was going to stall.steering and turning makes a noise and feels like there is no power steering. The cost to reach the part in the center of the transmission is the same as replacing the transmission.i no longer drive my car, and the cost quoted to repair it was $3,400-which i don't have.the codewas po741.

All auroras designed poorly, will not go into first gear when cup holder is extended!

While driving at approximately 40 mph abs indicator light and traction control light came on to informconsumer that these two systems were turned off. This occurred during inclement weather/ snow.dealership could not duplicatecondition. Thus, no repair could be performed.onsecond incident, when t dealership examined vehicle, mechanics cleanedgrounds because they could not duplicateproblem.consumer has not received any recall notice for current recall on abs system.

The automatic transmission shifts violently at times, the shift ranges from a slight bump to a bump that feels like the car has been rear-ended. This is most common in traffic/city areas and is resolved by shutting the car off and restarting it after a period of time. A gm dealer made a $1544.00 repair to the transmission but it still is not fixed. Other owners have had the same issue. It is sometimes followed by a check engine light.

The vehicle experiences harsh reverse engagement especially when the vehicle is cold and the outside temp is high.nlm

When is reversing could not see whatwas behind vehicle. Wife had a crash due to height ofhead rest onrear seat that took too much space, and there was not much clear view.please provide more information.

On 2/4/2015 bought a 2001 olds/aurora from an individual, nice and clean drove it back to hometown approx 60 miles.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. When the contact started the vehicle, the air bag, stability, and brake indicators illuminated. Also, the traction control was not working. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 201,000.

When slowing down to accommodate another car, my vehicle began unable to accelerate and then i noticed that the brakes had locked up as well. I had to take the key out of the car and restart it for it to work again.

I keep getting a message to service my stability control system on my 2001 olds aurora. Hoffman olds states there is no recall outstanding and the brake modulator unit will cost about 1000 to replace. It does not appear to affect my brake performance, but the warning keeps coming back daily. I believe the recall # is 00v114000. I do not have the vin #, the car is at the dealer.

When consumer braked for the first time after starting the vehicle the brake pedal went straight to the floor, and the second time the brakes were applied it had more compression.

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. The contact stated the brake does not engage when the vehicle is driven over 30mph. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic several times. The brake sensor and the master cylinder was replaced. The failure was not corrected. The brake continues to fail to engage. The manufacturer advised the vin was not included recall 00v114000 service brakes, hydraulic: foundation components. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 108.000. Li

The contact was driving approximately 65 mph when the brakes were engaged followed by an abnormal pulsation, a warning chime and the illumination of the service stability system and anti-lock braking system warning lights. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The failure was contributed to the hydraulic system. The technician informed the contact of a potential recall for the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 00v114000 (service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components). The contact was informed by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 175,000.

When coming to a sudden stop or panic stopbrake pedal goes half way tofloor before vehicle will stop. Abs are not working properly.

Total brake failuremay be abs.

I have owned 3 oldsmobile aurora's.1-1999 model2-2001 modelsi noticed with all three cars, there has been a problem with the rear passenger windows not properly operating.the window just falls down on it's own and won't roll back up.i have to wedge something in the window in order to keep it up and that does not always work.i found this to be a problem with all three aurora's.i know other people who has the same years and had the same problems with this vehicle.also, on this 2001 aurora i have now, having problems with the anti-brake and traction control system.i noticed a couple months ago, that i had to come to a sudden break in snowy weather conditions, my brakes did not work properly and my anti-lock brake and traction light came on and has been on ever since.the stability service light comes on the information system everytime the car is started.

My car has been a lemon since i bought it and it was having the problems with the abs which is recall id #00v114000 - service brakes, hydraulic: foundation components recall.i am experiencing these symptoms and took it to the local gm dealership and they said that my vin was not covered even though it is the same year as the recall and same symptoms.

While coming to a stop at a stoplight, the steering wheel seized up and the pedals locked. The engine stopped. I had to turn the car off and then start it again.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. The contact stated that while driving 25-30 mph, the rack and pinion fractured, causing the contact to lose control of steering capabilities. As a result, the contact crashed into a ditch. She was not injured. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 186,000.

2001 olds aurora - 6/16/2003 power steering was making a noise after engine warmed up.they replaced the gear and reset toe.then on 6/15/2005 the power steering made a groaning noise and they replacedrac/pin gear.on 11/07/2005 the steering wheel was groaning and the shaft/ steering intermediate was replaced.this is 3 steering problems in two years.in june of 2003 the car had 18,238 miles. As of 11/07/2005the car had 35,272 miles.this model obviously has a steering problem.

While slowing my speed to get onto the ramp to the expressway, my steering wheel locked completely and wouldn't allow me to turn. Additionally my pedals stopped working and my car came to a stop. I had to turn the car completely off and restart it.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle's steering column made a grinding sound while turning left or right at 5mph or below.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership on numerous occasions.the dealer inspected the vehicle in january 2005 and determined the eye shaft was fractured and needed replaced.although the part was on back order, it was never received.the result of the eye shaft failure led to an upper tie rod on the left front becoming excessively worn.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection recently.the contact was informed the remedy part was still on back order from the previous year.the dealer offered to rebuild the faulty eye shaft, but made no guarantee that would remedy the problem.however, the vehicle is at the dealer awaiting repairs.

While turning, the consumer noticed the steering wheelwas making a clicking noise.the dealership replaced the steering shaft, and lubricated the inner steering shaft, but the problemrecurred.the steering shaft was replaced on 6/10/03 and on 11/12/03 the intermediate shaft was lubed. *sc

Power steering pump line was melted into the bolt near the line , also the body over a year began to rust...so it took 800.00 to fix it

The vehicle was parked and once i put it into reverse to back out of the parking space, the engine locked up and the steering, brakes, gas didn't work. I was slowing down at a stoplight, decreasing my speed, alternately using the brake and coasting. The steering wheel then locked up and the pedals stopped working and the car completely stopped. I had to turn the engine totally off and restart it for it to work again.

Intermediate steering shaft failure on 2001 oldsmobile aurora.talked to olds numerous times, admitted the problem is so bad that part is on back order for 4 to 6 months. Quick fix is a lube kit they have come out with, but it is only a temporary fix. Consumer should not have to pay for such a common failure.

Clunky feel and eventually noise in steering wheel. Turned out to be the steering column intermediate shaft. Looked it up on internet, it is a problem on most gm large cars and trucks. Gm has so far failed to recognize the problem with a recall but has a replacement part available. I replaced it at the cost of $267, well worth it to have my beautiful car like new again, but gm should replace free for the pr.

While driving at any speed, the consumer noticed a noise coming from the steering wheel while making turns or withinnormal driving. Dealership serviced vehicle and the problem was due tosteering shaft was worn. Please provide details. *mr

While drivingled's on the dashboard went off. Also, there was loss of steering, resulting in a collision that totalled vehicle.

I am reporting this now because the car is beginning to have the same problem again after being repaired in october 2001. No safety defect listed.

My 2001 oldsmobile aurora has a re-occurring problem with a noise associated with the steering or front end, i am not sure which.it starts out as either a grinding or clunking sound when turning - notice it more as i am turning into my alley which is sort of a dip then a small rise from the street level.i have had it repaired at least three times since i bought the car new and it is starting to act up again.of course it is out of warranty now so i can hardly wait to see what they try to tell/sell me on getting it repaired this time.all the other times, the dealership indicated they took something apart and greased it.it lasted for 15 - 20k miles or so and needed to be done all over again.i am not happy that a re-occurring problem is now my problem.i can only mark down the last incident on this report.i now have 69k+ miles on the car and i cannot remember all the dates of when each incident happened.but, suffice it to say about every 15 - 20k miles.

Vehicle was towed home after the last incident.the steering will stick now turning in both directions.car is unable to be driven due to the steering sticking.this is a very dangerous situation that could lead to serious injury.this is happening at all speeds and cannot be corrected quickly while driving.

The front corner molding failed allowing water to enter the vehicle.nlm

Pool of water located in spare tire well in the trunk of car.it could be due to faulty weather striping on the rear window of the car but the source of the leak is unclear.

Power steering pump line was melted into the bolt near the line , also the body over a year began to rust...so it took 800.00 to fix it

My abs light is on and it just feels funny when i drive it now afraid a tire might fal off

It is gm' policy not to mandate their dealers to have their suspension alignment equipment software up to date for the new model year autos. The software updates is typically a year behind. Hence dealers are not able to diagnose suspension problems nor whne replacing made suspension parts asure that suspension is in proper alignement. This could cause poor handling and possibly an accident. The suspension alignmentequipment manufactures seem to offer two maintainane packages. One is a cheaper package which is a year behind. I can not understand why we can allow dealers to service new cars with out having the poper equipment to assure its safety.

When consumer turns vehicletoright it makes a noise, sounds as if tire is rubbing.when she touchessteering column she can feeltension/grinding.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora. When the contact started the vehicle, the air bag, stability, and brake indicators illuminated. Also, the traction control was not working. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 201,000.

Cup holder is fully extended out, this preventsvehicle from going into first gear.

The auto has a convience package which consists of a mirror, compass, and onstar. The owner has tried to get the personal calling feature of onstar connected since april 2001. So far i have been provideda phone number 400 5847 a letter giving me 100 free minutes, but as of this date oct1 2001 no service connection.as on star is a hands free cell phone the lack of service is a safetyitemas it prevents driver distraction. Onstar indicates that there is a system defect and it will be corrected soon but five months is not soon. Did they field a system with a known deficiency? help me please. Nosafetyndefect.

Thank you.

Oldsmoblie aurora 2001 had idle problems.under various conditions the vehicle would not return to idle and in some instances the vehicle's rpm's would increase.the problem persisted on and off for two years.the dealer replaced the cruise control but that did not correct the problem.once the dealer replaced the throttle position sensor the problem was alleviated.

Dt*: the contact stated while at a stop, with his foot on the brake, the vehicle accelerated to 38 mph.the vehicle was taken to the dealership, where the iac motor was replaced.updated 10/20/06.

Car kept cutting off and the rpm was at around 4000 without touching the gas. Sometimes when i go to hit the gas it will just sputter and die then it will take about 10 minutes to get it started again. Check engine light was on and they said i needed a mass air flow sensor so got that replaced and it still did it. Then they said the crankshaft position sensor code came up so i replaced and it still does it. I have almost been in a few accidents because the car will die out at the wrong time.

When drivingvehicle stalled andcut off.dealer stated there were nodefects.manufacturer stated they would look at the vehicle for one day.the vehicle would stall while accelerating, stopping or stopped.the manufacturer refused to authorize the dealer to repair the vehicle under a tsb, which outlined the problem, unless the dealer could duplicate the failure.

When slowing down to accommodate another car, my vehicle began unable to accelerate and then i noticed that the brakes had locked up as well. I had to take the key out of the car and restart it for it to work again.

The consumer presses the fuelm pedal and there is no pressure, to increase speed the consumer has to floor the pedal.nlm

Where to even begin with this 2001 oldsmobile aurora v8 so many problems with this car. Right now it smells like it's on fire. I see where gm had a recall last yr but the aurora is not included, and it should be recalled. It also lunges forward when stopped at a light , it also dies when driving it.

I've noticed about a year ago i would start this car, and the rpm's would go very high. After a while it stopped doing it. The last two weeks while driving it accelerates on it own. No need to touch the gas pedal. This can be dangerous, and i'm wondering if there is a recall on this issue.it happens while stationary and while driving.

While driving 60 miles per hour withthe cruise control engaged, the consumer unexpectedly experienced sudden acceleration up to 90 miles per hour. The owner had to press on the brakes several times before the vehicle came to a stop. Results showed that the cruise control cable had broken, which caused this problem to occur.

While startingvehicle and placing it in reverse, vehicle suddenly accelerated which caused a major crash.please provide further information.

I also have had to replace the window regulators on this olds aurora 2001. It is ridiculous that gm doesn't have recalls on this car, it is just problem after problem and it costs a fortune to repair these things over and over.

After purchasing this vehicle from another owner, the windows are failing.the right passenger rear window failed, left rear window fell down and now right front passenger window will not work.we have repaired the first window and intend to fix the other two.

Right rear passenger window on majority of the aurora oldsmobiles of 2001 vehicles is no longer working.please recall.

On two occasions, the window on the passenger side, rolled down and then would not roll back up again.the first incident was the front window, the second time the back window on the passenger side would no go up.if you have small children, or live in nd it can be dangerous, as the cold weather is very dangerous.

We own a oldsmobile aurora and the rear power windows have broke 3 times. The inside plastic piece breaks which causes the window to fall down and not go back up. We feel you have a defective part in the mechanical parts of the power window.we would like to see the manufacturer to cover repairs as each time it has broke it cost $350.00 to fix with new parts.

Iam short and the drivers seat is all the way up and i still look directly into the relection of the defrost grate.this defrost/heat duct is very large and the reflection it causes into the drivers eye vision is a saftey hazard and needs to be explored for a solution for the owners of this particular car and model and year.i want oldsmobile to give me a different car without the reflection problem and i want you to look into the design of this windshield and airduct as it causes a potential saftey hazard to short drivers...

When driving in a rainstorm windshield wipers broke completely off and stopped working, causing poor driver's visibility.

Dt*: the contact stated the front windshield wiper switch failed while driving on the highway at 65 mph, during a thunderstorm on slippery road conditions.the service dealer was contacted but offered no solution.the manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was taken.

The contact owns a 2001 oldsmobile aurora.on two different occasions, the rims failed due to inner corrosion and deterioration.additionally, the chrome was peeling and air was leaking from the rims.one tire continued to lose air, so the contact purchased four new tires.a few days later, the tires began losing air again due to deteriorated and corroded rims.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 63,100 and failure mileage was 36,446.updated 3/5/08

Possible due to dropping or poor handling at manufacture, the inside wall of the tire had a small hole in it about the damaged wheel, which was caused by dropping the rim on the floor, resulted in a slow leak and then a flat.
