The contact owns a 1997 oldsmobile achieva. The contact stated that while attempting to start the ignition, the air bag deployed. The contact mentioned that the air bag warning lamp was illuminated a few days prior to the failure. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 90,000.

The air bags deployed by there self no accident and not moving i was at a stand still .first the driver air bag deployed and then a few seconds later the passenger side deployed. Ido not know if there are factory installed air bags in the car? as i bought the car second hand less then a year ago. There was no record of the car being in a accident and car never been totaled out. Ido not know why it happened.

On 3/30/99 was driving 70 mph on smooth interstate, dry road conditions when driver side airbag deployed for no reason.was able to pull car to side of road. Contacted gm that afternoon after returning from the emergency room.suffered whiplash and strained back and neck muscles.gm took report.went several months with no info from them.gm contacted us to try to settle, because of time and doctor bills involved, we employed an attorney.gm told us because we got an attorney that they would not settle as quick.finally of 6/9/99 gm employees came to our place of business and looked at car and removed computer from under the right front passenger seat.said it would take a couple of weeks to "dry it out" so they could tell what happened.as of this date, gm is giving us the runaround and has said that they have not gotten the box tested yet.we don't know if you can do anything to encourage them to bring this incident to a close but there have been a lot of medical bills and i am still having problems with my neck and back which is greatly affecting my work. Somehow one of the people from your office found out about this incident and contacted us, however, we have not heard back from him, however he was surprized that gm had not tried to settle with us.this car is used as our personal car and when gm removed the computer box, they did not offer to have the computer or the airbag replaced.we are having to drive this car in this condition as we cannot afford to purchase another car to make payments on and keep paying for this one, and we do not feel that we should be out the money to replace such items.we are actually afraid to drive it an airbag back in it, as now we do not trust the airbag system.hope you can help or tell us what we can do.

Consumer was in a front end accident at 30 mph . Upon impact, driver's side air bag deployed as it should have. However, passenger's side air bag did not deploy until after the accident.child was thrown into windshield, and suffered a crushed chest dealer has not been contacted.

Consumer'sdaughter was traveling about 25mph on a side street and on railroad tracks, front of vehicle under carriage went down to the tracks, and airbags deployed.there were no injuries, and dealership was notified.

While driving vehicle between 30-50 mph therewas a loss of electrical power except the dashboardlights. This caused the vehicle to completely die.dealer wastrying to resolve the problem. Please provide any further information.

Vehicle battery shorted out which resulted in electrical system failure. This causedpower doors to be inoperative. Consumer was trapped in vehicle,doors couldn'tbe opened from inside.

Defective engine had stalling problems replace alternator and caught on fire. Customer states hears a banging noise when steps on brakes intermittently, front pads worn, customer denied work aware need front brake. Pump leaking, remove and replace water pump.

Pcm/tcm replaced twice as well as ignition in conjunction with this problem.now i am toldthe instrument cluster panel is in failure as well.pcm reprogrammed several times prior to replacement a second time.car has been in internal failure off and on, i never know when it would give out on me.car at dealership now for the 7th time in 3 months.

Have contacted dealer numerous times and nothing has been done, dealer sold car with spark plug misfires, stalling, and a badly needed transmission flush

Car would not start so we took the car in on 1/22/2004 and had to have an ignition module replaced.cost $492.45on 2/6/2004once again car would not start , so we took the car in to a different shop and had to have the ecm module replaced .cost $629.28the trunk of this car fills with water, has power surges through the electrical system--noticeable when theheat, defrost or fan has to be used.on occasion the car accelerates on its own.this car has less than 20,000 miles on itand i found out that we are thefourth owners of this vehicle.could you please let me know if there is anything i can do, as i feel as though i have been sold a"lemon"?the vin of this car is [xxx]thank you for any information you can give me.[xxx]. Consumer received a recall letter for relay switch,took to dealer they replaced relay, andpresently vehicle is discharging. Vehicle was fine until dealer replaced relay.battery light is on, and vehicle is not charging.consumer had to take the vehicle to another mechanic to have the problem resolved.*jg

Consumer received recall notice 02v070000 ignition campaign, however when vehicle was brought to dealer, dealership would not performed recall unless consumer paid for labor.manufacturer notified.*dt

While driving black smoke started coming out. Consumer jumped out and checked side panel on driver's door and it was very hot. Consumer took car to dealer for repairs.

I just got work done to it 9/13/02 thermostat, water pump, and timing chain. When i first start up the car and drive about two blocks the temperature go straight to the half mark and work it's way towards the hot temperature. The car gets hot too fast. I have spent $600.00 on this car so far and i just bought it. The warranty just expired about three months ago. It was a three month warranty on the car. (1)54,971 miles "low coolant light" dex-cool coolant guaranteed for 5 years or 150,000 miles reported "dirty coolant" flushed and replaced. Stated no leaks,(2) intermittent "low coolant light" topped up "dex-cool" as per manufactures instructions. (3)56,000 miles replaced hose that had disintegrated (4)59,350 miles "coolant leak" replaced water pump, replaced serp. Belt saturated with coolant. Possible intake manifold leak! engine shampoo because of coolant saturation.(5)62,370miles "coolant leak" replaced intake manifold, and gasket replaced dex-cool for the 4th time. There is a problem with dex-cool coolant causing coolant system to break down. (6) possible rad leak!!!

Vehicle stalled in oct 2000.dealer found nothing. On 14 mar 2001, consumer was at stop light, applied gas and vehicle did not move forward. Then, put vehicle in reverse, again nothing. Consumer put back in drive, and vehicle surged forward, engine revved.dealer again found nothing. Coolant light illuminated and there was a coolant smell present in vehicle, dealer replaced coolant system; water pump, coolant pump, timing chain, vehicle stalled and dealer replaced the belt tensioner.vehicle wouldn't engage in any gear, dealer replaced a broken shift cable console shifter and found shifter boot coming out, dealer installed new shifter.consumer stated vehicle has rough idle.

Dealer let his girlfriend and whoever drive the car and put 2000 miles on it prior to my purchase. They let it get to low on oil , thus causing this engine failure. He refuses to refund my money or pay for engine replacement. Another friend of mine also bought a car from him and her engine went bad also, he is an alcholic and just got of jailas of this writing for his fourth dwi this year, 2000. I have had several problems with my oldsmobile achieva since buying it in february of 2001.the water pump went out 6 months after i got it.the serpentine belt has been replaced twice in less than a year.i have replaced the oil sending unit.i have replaced bushing on both front end lower arm controls.the coolant has started to leak.i just had a part that holds the bearings in the wheel replaced and now i am having the transmission replaced.

The transmission shifter lever did not move to park and the engine could not be switched off.the shifter lever was jammed in drive and the key could not be removed.this has happened three times.the boot and console was removed and replaced 2 times.however problem still existed and dealership refused to admitpart was defective.

Excessive brake wear replaced 3 x in 16 months

Brakes are excessively wearing out.consumer has turned the rotors 2 timesat 33,000 miles. Dealer has been contacted.

Steering seized while traveling with cruise set at 60 mph, five days after being purchased new.

During vehicle operation,the speed control was set at 60 mph, the steering wheel locked up without warning, causing the driver to lose control/accident, vehicle has abs brakes.

Body of vehicle continually rattles, not able to be corrected.

Defect in the front passenager side control arm, resulted in failure, causing entire front end of the car (front axel, cv joint, control arm and a frame to fall on the ground.

Accelerated without warning, returned to the dealer eight times without ever getting the problem corrected. I am currently awaitingthe nineth visit toanotherdealer trying to get this problem resolved.

Vehicle accelerates on its own when driving at 55-70 mph. Dealer contacted and is aware of the problem. Incident occurred about 30 times. Problem still exists. Provide further information.

While the heat is on or off but on heat,there is a nasty odor coming from the vents which causes the driver to get sick ,and may result in loss of vehicle control.cause unknown.

Power windows are malfunctioning. When in use they will stick whendown or up, unable to pull themdown. Dealer contacted.

The power window motor failed and caused the window to go up and down without warning. *mr *ph*nlm

Windshield is difficult to see through.

I have had several problems with my oldsmobile achieva since buying it in february of 2001.the water pump went out 6 months after i got it.the serpentine belt has been replaced twice in less than a year.i have replaced the oil sending unit.i have replaced bushing on both front end lower arm controls.the coolant has started to leak.i just had a part that holds the bearings in the wheel replaced and now i am having the transmission replaced.

The wheel rim was out of round which caused a severe vibration.
