I was driving about 50 mph on the highway in a decent rain storm with a buddy of mine. All of the sudden boom the passenger air bag went off! very frightening. The windshield shattered, the glove compartment is permanently open. Unknown cause.

Air bags blew out while driving down the road.there was no accident.police were called. Resident was outside and saw and heard bags go off.. I was driving down highway 95 in manning so. Carolina and all of a sudden i heard this big bang and saw my windshield smashed and then noticed the airbag on the passenger side deployed!i didn't hit anything nor anything hit me nor hit any bumps!i was traveling from maine to florida.
After beingrearended at high speed and plowing into a car, 12:00 position, driver's and passenger's side airbags did not deploy.

Problems with check engine light illuminating, tail light popped out, as well as the vehicle stalled 9 times.*mrthe a/c did not work.the dealer replaced the air compressor and dryer.the dealer was unable to duplicate the stalling concerns but they did replaced the d.i.s module and the ecm to correct code po705.a few days later the vehicle stalled while stopped at a signal.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer.
Consumer called complaining about having track control system problems.vehicle failed andmanufacturer was not able to let her know why this happened.the traction off light appeared on the main cluster. Now the car has a new alternator and everything passed inspection, according to the dealer. First thing, car was bought on the 8th. My birthday is on the 15th, yet the inspection is good for 07 not 06 like it should be. Second e-brake does not work andregular brakes don't work right, the abs- brake light was always on. Third within 11 days of owning the car had to buy 3 batteries. The first was one hour after buying the car, second was 5 days later. The third was 4 days after that. Now in haverill mass. Went to put the third battery in, the alternator started smoking up. Then caught on fire. Called the dealer said this is ridiculous i want my money back. He said no fix it on your own. Plus when it rains all four floors get wet. And the windshield leaks water drips on your legs while your driving. Obd sensor light always on, and the abs-brake light on.
The battery cables that connect to the positive side of the battery come loose.the car engine stops running immediately.the cable bolt was tightened and the car was started ok.the cables coming loose happen a total of 5 times before the problem was traced to the battery cables.the cables have 'teeth' stamped in them when manufactured.these teeth are supposed to keep the cables from moving and loosening.the teeth corrode down over time and loose their grip on the battery and spacer.these cables should be replaced every 50-60000 miles to prevent this from happening.

Engine sputtered and was unable to accelerate. Dealer found failed wiring in system spark plug lines, causing plug failure and need to replace all lines. No accident, but i believe condition could have led to engine failure under dangerous conditions.
The computer system was replaced because the vehicle died out without warning on the interstate at the speed of 60-65 mph.please describe details.
The emc had to be replaced and the fuel pump had to be replaced. We feel that these problems should not happen at this low milage.
Computer failed, causing vehicle to stall while decelerating.

1995 oldsmobile delta 88.consumer writes in regards to defective sensor light problems.the consumer stated he spent hundreds of dollars, even thousands to try and fix the problem, but to no avail. The defective sensor light, caused him to have an accident in december 2012. The engine light, has been on for five years.
Dt*: the contact sated while pulling out from a stop sign, there was a loud noise and the back of the motor fell down.the steering linkage failed causing the contact to have no control over the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic where they determined the motor mounts had detached.the dealership has been informed.
A tragic accident fortunately did not occur. The engine cradle subframe mounting washers on both sides rusted through. My mother (75 years old) was driving the vehicle while turning. The engine cradle dropped down preventing her to steer the vehicle. Had there been another vehicle close she would have driven directly into it. She was extremely scared and shaken. This is such a small item that is potentially dangerous especially at normal driving speed. This should have been fixed by gm or we should have been notified of a potential accident.this does not appear to be a single vehicle problem. Thank you.
The problem i have come across is that the plenum that sits on top of my intake is made out of some kind of carbon fiber of some sort . Well the first time it went out my engine stopped instantly on the interstate. Later on that day i found out what it was. The plenum has 2 water jackets on each side of a vent for the exhaust system by the throttle side, it corroded around that vent that lets cooling fluid into the intake stopping the motor instantly. I had to have the motor and the plenum replaced and now it has happened again. I believe the manufacture needs to stop making these parts in the material that they do. Because i have lost a lot of money and time getting this problem fixed.
Engine is burning one quart of oil every 1500 miles due to seals/piston ring failure.

The plastic intake manifold exploded and the vehicle caught on fire. This occurred when the consumer started the vehicle. Engine back fired, and smoke started coming from under the hood. Whenconsumer checked under the hood it was on fire.
While driving 70 mph enginesuddenly quits working. The plenum on top of the intake manifold has a water and an air jacket that are side by side. They corrode and eat through the wall that separates them. This causes anti freeze flood into thepiston, and stops engine from running. The enginewas replaced.
The plastic intake manifold developed a crack and leaked anti freeze into the engine. This resulted in the vehicle stalling while drivingand damage to the engine. *nlm

Air conditioner evaporator core located in an enclosed area behind passenger side engine firewall developed serious leaks causing total loss of air condition gas.at first the loss of coolant gas was thought to be as result of failure of the high & low pressure tube, however after replacementa serious leak continued with- in the system which was later discovered to a leaking evaporator core.apparently this is a common problem for air condition evaporators for the 1995 oldmobile 88 and some other general motors vehicles ofaround thatmodel year. Replacement cost is very expensive. The cost to repair this defective equiptment should nothave to be paid by the consumer.

Sometimes the turn signals will not operate properly.i checked the fuze panel underneath the dash and all were okay and properly seated.i find that if i bang underneath the dash the signal will start operating, ie starting blinking.

The injector hose developed pen hole leaks and were spraying gas on to the hot engine.i was lucky to smell the odor of gas before a major fire occured.this could be a serious problem as the dealer told me that all models since the 95 now use metal connectors rather than plastic.
I started smelling fuel, as the week progressed the smell grew intensely unbearable, before taking my kids to school one day i decided let me take a look under the hood after all this is gasoline we are taking about.so i saw that the fuel line to the fuel rail was a little wet so i turned on my car and a mist of gas was spraying out the hose. I never realized how much of a risk i was putting my kids in by driving with that fuel smell.there should be a recall on that, its not safe.
The front right door lock fails to unlock by remote or key (failed twice) and the left rear door fails to unlock by remote. This suggests to me a faulty solenoid component and it is only a matter of time before the driver's door solenoid will fail. At that point the only way into the car would be to climb in through the right rear door. This obviously raises safety concerns if the operator is unable to safely enter the vehicle if broken down on the highway or in an emergency situation.

Consumer states that her owner's manual states if you can walk away from your vehiclewith the engine key in your hand your vehicle is in park , this is not true because key was taken out of ignition and gear was not in park and vehicle hit a tree. Steering colum was reconnected to shifter cable to ignition switch.
While the vehicle was in park with the ignition running on flat land it took off in reverse. When vehicle hit a water heater, owner jumped in and cut off ignition with gear indicator still in park. Dealer is not able to determine a cause for this problem.

I was stopped at a red light on the evening of 02-01-00.after the light changed i proceded across the intersection.just after i crossed the intersection, the car came to an abrupt hault as if someone had stepped on the brakes as hard as they could.i don't know how the vehicle behind was able to avoid me but, thankfully he did.i tried putting the car in park and tried to go forward and back.it would back easier than it would go forward.i was finally able to force the car to go forward a little bit so i could get it out of the street.i then called aaa and had the car towed to bill cooke caddilac/oldsmobile in ithacathey have since had the car and can find nothing wrong.what on earth would cause a car to lock up it's brakes all by itself?how am i supposed to drive this vehicle and feel safe?how do i know when it will do it again?what if it happens while i am travelling at a higher rate of speed?this is something that should never be able to happen on a vehicle.i have since heard of the same thing happening to one other person who was driving an approx. 1996 buick regal which would have the same system as my car.that instance resulted in an accident causing thousands of dollars of damage.has this happened to other people too?maybe some accidents has been cause by this happening to other vehicles and we just don't know it becasue the driver is dead.what am i supposed to do?i can't afford to go buy another car.i just have to drive this one and somehow hope it does not happen again.

Within approx. 1 month both rear brake cylinders and the master brake cylinder failed.of all the vehicles i have owned in my 70 years i have never had a problem such as this.the installed items must have been defective and i was just lucky that no accident occurred.

Power steering motor completely fell off the engine. I lost all power .had i been traveling on the highway at a high rate of speed i would have lost control and crashed my car.when i took my car to the dealership another oldsomible was in the shop with the very same problem.the shop foreman said that he had never seen this problem with any vehicle befor mine and the other car.it seems strange that they were both olds.i feel that faulty bolts are being used in the assembly of the cars.the bolts had completely broken off.i don't think that bolts should corode after 81,000 miles.if this is happening to a lot of oldsomobile vehicles someone will loose thier lives because of it.
This is in reference to the gm recall about the failure of brakes, power steering, wipers.i have a 1995 olds 88 royale.back in november my wife was turning left into a driveway to turn around and her power steering quit completely.i e-mailed oldsmobile about the problem after i read about the recall.they sent me back a e-mail and said they were not going to do anything about it because the vin and model year didn't fall under the recall.they told me to go to a local dealer if i felt that there were any concerns about our vehicle.the car is sitting in our garage right this very minute without any power steering.is there anything you can do to help me with this situation?if so i would greatly appreciate your time and effort in this matter.

While leaving a service station and turning right heard noise and started having problem turning.was towed to an independent auto shop and was told that bolts on steering pump broke.ak the loss of steering resulted rearly in an accident.the consumeralso lost power brakes.
The mounting bolts holding the power steering pump to the engine block have both completely fractured.this occurred during engine startup under no unusual circumstances. The engine / car has not had any maintenance performed in any area near this component.it appears that the bolts may have been over-torqued on initial installation. My concern is to know if this is a previous know problem on this model car.

Shock absorbers have poor stability and failed resulting in vehicle crossing five lane highway. Shocks are too soft for control.tt

Lost steering control - three bolts that hold the pump just broke off & went on to push right boot into right tire.water pump broke & also overflow antifreeze tank broke.had to replace two tail lamps because of broken brackets or prongs that hold it.

I purchased a 1995 oldsmobile delta 88 royale lss 4d sedan 6cy/3800 series 2. At seven seas auto 118 maple st. Manchester nh,03103. Paid 1,500 came with a 20-day plate and a state inspection. Now the car has a new alternator and everything passed inspection, according to the dealer. First thing, car was bought on the 8th. My birthday is on the 15th, yet the inspection is good for 07 not 06 like it should be. Second e-brake does not work andregular brakes don't work right, the abs- brake light was always on. Third within 11 days of owning the car had to buy 3 batteries. The first was one hour after buying the car, second was 5 days later. The third was 4 days after that. Now in haverill mass. Went to put the third battery in, the alternator started smoking up. Then caught on fire. Called the dealer said this is ridiculous i want my money back. He said no fix it on your own. Plus when it rains all four floors get wet. And the windshield leaks water drips on your legs while your driving. Obd sensor light always on, and the abs-brake light on.
After 1/4 in of ice had melted away, windshield had a hair line crack in it. It was taken to the repair shop. Mechanic indicatedthat either itwas caused by stress,or originallyput in wrong. Consumer will contact manufacturer. *ml
