Airbag light flashes when light is reset it flashes again after a few miles horn doesn't work unable to warn other drivers & pedestrians

The airbag light came on and steadily flashes. I live in a coastal area with high humidity and am concerned that this is a corrosion issue in the sensor

Airbag light is on

My air bag sensor light came on, took it to the dealership they told me that my air bags have been disabled because of a fault in the spiral cable in my steering column. They told me the part cost $460 to replace. They said it was a common problem which caused the seat belts to be deactivated. They told me to fix it i would have to pay because it was no longer under warranty. It seems to me that a safety feature such as an air bag should not have a warranty expiration.when i told them i didn't have the $460 they said make sure you wear your seat belt because your air bags will not work.the ironic thing is that i was at the dealership because of a safety recall because the air bags would automatically deploy while driving down the road. It seems nissan doesn't care if your air bags will not deploy if it is not still covered under the warranty.

I was traveling at 25 (no more than 30) mph when another vehicle collided with mine. The other vehicle did clip the middle 1/3 and entire passenger side of my xterra. The hood was crushed to the first third of the front passenger wheel well, transmission and radiator fluids were leaking from the suv, grill was obliterated, front passenger headlight was crushed into the battery (that leaks due to the accident), and the front bumper was impinging the front passenger wheel from freely moving. The airbags should have deployed, but did not. The vehicle is not drivable and had to be towed. I am filing this complaint because i believe that the severity of impact should have resulted in airbag deployment.

The passenger side airbag sensor broke , sensor that detects a person in the seat and engages the airbag, took it to dealer to fix and was told nissan no longer supports that part and should go to a junk yard and pull a a seat cushion and install it myself.

Unable to find the airbag recall.

Intermittent stalling issue. Vehicle has 98,700 miles on it and has not had any other issues prior to this.on the first occasion the vehicle was in motion, going between 5 and 10 mph, turning into a parking lot.the vehicle start to slow down, lost power steering and all dashboard lights were illuminated (check engine, battery, airbag, seatbelt, etc.) but the radio and headlights remained on. Placed the vehicle in park and turned the key in the off position.restarted the vehicle and it started up immediately with no dashboard warning lights. Was drivable with no other issues for several days. The vehicle stalled a second time about a week or so later, while it was stationary, at a stop light on a city street.again, all the dashboard lights illuminated while the radio and headlights remained on. Turned the key to the off position and attempted to restart the vehicle.the vehicle started with no problems and no dashboard warning lights.the vehicle was operational and was able to drive home with no issues.i took it to a trusted mechanic after both intermittent stalls. He ran diagnosis tests after both incidents and no codes showed up. The mechanic believes it is the ecm relay that is causing the issue after doing some research.a new battery was installed between stalls thinking this was the culprit.the second stall occurred the day after the new battery install.

When outside temperature falls below 40 degrees xterra will not start. Vehicle is stationary and not parked in a garage.battery was replaced 11 months ago trying to fix the same problem.no other major issues with vehicle ever.vehicle just towed yesterday dealer will not be able to diagnose until monday.

The valve assembly and engine control computers failed.the vehicle will not start.the repair estimate is $3761.00.

My ecu on my nissan xterra was supposedly shorted due to a loose or damaged cable. With my initial inspection of the vehicle, the cable was not loose, yet i still had problems. The issue happenedwhen i had parked my vehicle to run an errand. When i returned, i started up my vehicle and attempted to drive. There was no power and the engine would not accelerate over 5 mph. Not wanting the vehicle to breakdown on a busy road, i backed up and parked the vehicle. I attempted to restart the vehicle, but this time the starter would crank, but would not turn over. After attempting to start ita few times, i disconnected the batteries and reconnected the batteries. Still, the vehicle would crank and not turn over. I called a tow truck, and they brought the vehicle to firestone. Firestone told me that the battery cables had shorted and destroyed teh ecu/ecm. I was quoted 1500 for a piece of equipment that should last the life of the vehicle. The vehicle is only 5 years old. This sounded like a very intensive process, so i had the vehicle towed to nissan. Again, they said it was the ecu/ecm.nissan told me that the cables, the battery and the ecu needed to be replaced.nissan has had past issues with 2010 vehicles shorting out and destroying the ecu's. I believe that it is nissan's faulty electrical systems or poorly constructed ecu's that is causing the damage. For such an expensive piece of equipment to be rendered useless by having an imporper battery connection seems problematic and potentially unsafe. It is problematic, due to teh history of nissan's cables becoming corroded due to their battery position. Likewise, there have been many consumer complaints that the battery terminals are poorly made, resulting in vehicle failure.this can be dangerous, for if the battery terminals fail, it can cause the vehicle to stop functioning, even when it has been started.

The contact owns a 2010 nissan xterra. During cold temperatures, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the emc module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Sudden loss of power while drivingbetween 10-15 mph. Immediate loss of brakes, acceleration, and power steering. Vehicle was in motion on the 405 fwy/sepulveda pass area during morning rush hour in stop-go traffic conditions. Was able to pull to side of road, and shut off vehicle. Waited 1 minute and vehicle restarted with no further issues on drive to work. From a review of online resources this looks eerily similar to issue outlined in prior recall issued by nhtsa listed under ntb10-137. This is serious and dangerous, and could easily result in loss of life!

Driver's door lock either stays locked and you are unable to exit the vehicle, or, the lock does not latch so the door swings open. This happed both while parked and while driving.

I started the car to let it warm up. The manual gearshift was in neutral and the emergency brake was engaged.as i got out of the vehicle, it lurched forward and i attempted to get back into the vehicle to apply the brake.it lurched a second time before i was able to get inside.i attempted to get inside the vehicle a second time to apply the brake but was not able to due to the car lurching forward again..on the third "lurch" it continued to drive forward, hitting my mother's parked car and pushing it back approximately 3-4 feet into the back wall of her carport.finally, the engine died and i was able to restart it, back it away from my mother's car, and assess the damage to her vehicle and my body.i purchased this used vehicle 12 days ago.

I am writing to report repeated problems with my vehicle, an xterra 2010. I am very concerned about risk of crash and damage to the transmission. The problems include - slow acceleration on surface streets after light changes ? this happens frequently.- slow acceleration when entering the expressway, car shifts gears slowly ? this happens frequently,- car fills with kerosene or exhaust smell for a short time, even when there are no other cars around ? this occurs occasionally,- car revved up followed by a sweet smell (like coolant/antifreeze) when standing at stop lights ? this occurs occasionally, and- significant vibration.i have reported the problems when car is serviced. Immediately after purchase and for more than a year i was told the acceleration and shifting issues would subside after the engine adjusted. During the last service, the vibration issue was addressed but the other issues continue.i received notice of a class action suit regarding xterra transmission and other issues. While looking into the suit i discovered problems with the xterra are widespread. I need your assistance to correct problems with the car ? please advise options available to correct issues before they get worse.thank you in advance for your advise on how to proceed.

My 2005 xterra is having same problem as the recalled 2006 xterra with the fuel gauge and running out of gas...but the dealership said that i would have to pay to get mine fixed costing nearly $500.00....the 2005 xterras should be included in this recall as many are having the same problems with the fuel gauge...

My service engine light came on and had the system diagnosed.it was a bad fuel sending unit.i only had 37200 miles on the vehicle.i contacted nissan and surrounding dealerships and got the "it's out of warranty" speech.the shop that performed the work mentioned they have had a lot of nissans with the same problem.i still have the receipt and if there is a recall issued, i would like to get my money back.

The contact owns a 2010 nissan xterra. The contact stated that while driving 3 mph, the vehicle started to make a loud noise and jerk violently. The contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that the bolts that held the drive shaft in place were detached and causing the drive shaft to become loose. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who verified the failure and replaced the bolts. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 25,160 and the current mileage was 25,360.updated 04/23/12

July 2015,car quit steering no warning. Turned out to be rack and pinion went out.cost $1900 to replace . Then september 2015 car just quit because the transmission was not working, had to totally replace with a new one was non repairable. Cost was $4970.00 machanic said reason was that engine coolant mixed in with transmission fluid.

At alittle over 180,000 miles need a new rear differential. Read on an xterra forum the spthider gears were not heat treated properly by the manufacturer which causes rear differentials to fail.the vehicle was never driven off road or towed anything. It should not have failed.

Manual clutch failed without warning at freeway speed, with only 49,000 miles driven. Primary and secondary vehicle drivers have owned and driven multiple manual clutch vehicles for many years. Vehicle was purchased new and received all services from dealer. Driver was lucky to be able to get vehicle off freeway. Internet posts indicate xterra manual clutch failures at this mileage are common, because clutch mechanism used by nissan is designed for much lighter nissan vehicles.

Cracked radiator leaking coolant into the transmission.when it mixes with the transmission fluid, it ruined transmission and radiotor.over an$4000 bill!

Vehicle parking brake does not hold due to rear axle seal leaking fluid contaminating parking brake shoes. Issue is covered under tsb via nhtsa item number 10033306, but nissan will not cover under warranty despite being a safety issue.

Nissan xterra has faulty abs actuator and is less than 10 years old. The vehicles abs, brake, slip, and vdc lights will come on while vehicle is in motion. The lights will go off and come back on periodically. After inspection at dealership, it was determined to be a bad abs actuator.

Vehicle is just over 2 years old and the entire back bumper already has rust/corrosion, this is a common occurrence with xterras but its so rusted if impacted in the rear it has the potential for the rear bumper to fail. And nissan wont cover the bumper in warranty even extended $2000 warranty. Vehicle has been rusting slowly over the past few months.

If the auto is idle the lights do not come on at all.i do have a tire pressure light that comes on and off also but it stays on on once it finally goes on.i believe this is part of the nissan xterra 2009 recall and should be handled immediately as such.
