I own a nissan xterra 2004 it was in park and rolled by itself from flat to down a drive hitting a moving car then going down a cliff into a tree. No one at nissan or allstate can explain why it rolled! nissan blew me off saying it can happen what concerns me is that if it could just roll like that why did the air bags deploy? there explanation well--- it was in park! so how can if it is in park no keys can it roll forward then down????

I have had to replace my starter 3 times in 4 years. I have all of the receipts to show also. I have also had to replace my radiator because of a crack near the cap. I had a hose that goes through my dash with the hot water explode on me and burn my hand pretty bad. My radiator seems to evaporate cooling fluid on a regular basis. I have had a pressure test it is holding pressure. And now my warning bell is no longer working. My battery has gone dead 5 times because no warning sound to tell me i left my lights on.

I have replaced my starter 3 times. My brake lights have a short or faulty wiring i'm sure because we have replaced the bulbs several times. I have gotten tickets because of this as a result i have a expired brake tag i cant get a new one because the wiring will cost to much. My uv joint broke while i was driving on the high way. That part they tell me is not a common breaking part. Nissan charges over a thousand dollars to repair that. I'm told my wiring is bad after i replace my starter 2 months ago. They sent me a recall for my column steering and i had it repaired but it still is a slight hassle to change gears. I have received a letter telling me they are buying 2004 nissan xterra's but when i called the sales man says it's nothing wrong with the xterra's that's just a sales stunt. I think its a bunch of bull nissan knows they didn't do a good job with these 2004"s.

Got into my car one day and upon trying to crank it , when turning the key it hesitated to crank and finally did so. When i reached my destination, when i left my car would just not crank. No clicks. Lights work fine. Nothing is wrong with security, battery. Just replaced the starter around oct of last year.

When driving my xterra, it loses power and cuts out on me.this is very dangerous and cuts completely off when i'm accelerating.there is a declaration and then the vehicle won't crank or start leaving me stranded.this is not the first time over years that the xterra has cut off on me.all dashboard systems stop completely when it happens.i have no control over the car when it happens.

Fuel gauge registering improperly. Only shows 3/4 tank upon filling tank full and will not drop upon usage of fuel. Gauge has only dropped once since i have owned the vehicle.

2004 xterra had been low on radiator fluid and needed topping up each week, then each day. After filling with water and coolant night before car began to overheat on hwy.car sat in sun all day, then overheated in traffic.had towed to work on it.replaced split radiator hose where dripping occurs and refilled car radiator, no leaking apparent.next day, drove on hwy to work.at 65-75 mph car began making clicking/tapping noises from engine.went uphill towards interchange and car shook violently, steam (or smoke) came from under hood as i carefully crossed freeway to exit, all lights came on on dash and smoke or steam poured into the car through air vents.i had lost all power and power steering, but i steered it safely to hwy service road street with parking lot.car was smoking under hood, steam or smoke was coming out of vents and all lights remained on on the dash.under the hood, the a/c condenser or radiator has a 5" break on top of it.when i put water in the radiator it pours through several places where hoses connect (gaskets and seals, i presume).had the car towed home and i'm afraid to drive it ever again, but now i can't get to work or pick my kids up from school anymore and i can't afford to fix it or pay for repairs since i can't get to work.

I took my vechicle to ace auto and he claim he fixed it gave me a list the second time but not the first time it sat there for a year than i got it out for 2 months back in again its goes real slow back fires now and sterring wheel locked one day now its acting like it dont have power to it.everytime you go sppeed limit the steering locks it shakes and not enough power to go barely go up the hill too.

Problems with instrument cluster.tachometer, speedometer, and 4-wheel drive light do not function propertly.the vehicle has been in for repair 5 times to replace instrument cluster and ecm.the vehicle still does not operate properly.

There was a break-in of my car and the dome light was left on.the dome light apparently short-circuited and burned off.the hot light fell on my driver's side seat and burned a hole in the seat.the truck is now totaled by my insurance.

The fuses were burning.when removing the fuse onecould see sparks. Dealer replaced the fuses, and the check engine light came on.

Vehicle overheated while driving down the highway. Upon inspection, an approximately 4in crack was noticed on the top of the radiator, passenger side, near the thermostat. Replacement of the radiator was required.

June 12 2016 at the tri-par in slinger, wi i was filling up the gas tank, when gas began spilling out of the vehicle's wheel well.i immediately stopped it after i noticed it.the station along with the slinger fire department estimated a gallon was spilt.it appears the gas tank neck has rusted out, causing the spill.they deemed the vehicle not safe to drive and recommend we have it towed home, which we did.

The lower radiator support bar for my nissan xterra has rusted out.this causes the main radiator to sink which has since hit the main fan.only replacement is to replace the entire radiator brace.as a main structure component of the vehicle this should not be rusting out.

I have had to replace my starter 3 times in 4 years. I have all of the receipts to show also. I have also had to replace my radiator because of a crack near the cap. The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. While driving 55 mph, the engine stalled. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

Ever since i had my 2004 x-terra i have told the service department about loud engine noise. Sounds like a lifter or valve on the right side of the engine. Each time they tell me its normal. I t has gotten louder and yet they say they all make the sound....the engine is lake a washing machine its so bad and loud....

While driving there was an engine fire. Consumer indicated that a faulty fuel clamp was used which disengaged, causing fuel to spill. The vehicle was totaled. Contacted the dealer.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra.after driving the vehicle at an unknown speed for approximately ten minutes, the contact parked the vehicle.approximately one minute after exiting the vehicle, she noticed smoke coming from under the hood on the passenger side.she then noticed flames coming from the same location under the hood.the fire department extinguished the fire.the vehicle sustained major damage to the front end.there were no injuries.the current and failure mileages were 76,000.

Since week i bought this suv i have made complaints about in park and in drive you hear a lifter type ticking noise at the passenger side of this xterra. I for sure think it is a lifter tick but the dealer has always said it is nothing and no not worry about it. It has not gotten loader but inside by the wheel well and also inside right engine side you can hear it. As i drive you can also hear it with the windows up. They agree they hear it but they state all other xterra make the same. They clam it is the normal injector. I think it is lifters or lose valve that the v6 is noted for. I still say a engine of this price should be very quiet and not sound like lifter noise.

From the onset of the purchase i have been hearing a knocking noise in the engine the mechanics at the nissan repair shops states that nothing is wrong , however the noise gets worst when you drive the car , for longer periods , i have had nissan service the car but all they do is tighten the fan, the timing tensioner pulley , yet the noise is still there, nissan north america has been contacted and so has the dealer to this day they cannot find the problem , nor arehave they been able to identify the source.

2004 xterra has been in the shop for various reason.when the vehicle was taken to the dealer for one problem the vehicle was returned to the consumer with a defective right door. The radio also does not work. When the power window was rolled down the consumer heard a grinding noise.the left and right front window regulator have been replaced five times. Both front window run channels warped twice and caused the windows to jump when they were rolled down.

When vehicle is started, the brake lights will stay lit as if you were pressing the brake even when engine is off, cruise control will notseteither so you can turn it on but will not engage. It may have something to do with the cruise control switch located by the brake pedal. I've fashioned a spacer to slide in between the brake and switch so they'll go off when i'm not driving. I was just curious as if there is a recall to this or if i have to actually replace the part my self.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised the contact that there was a fuel leak and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact that there were no recalls for the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.

My 2004 nissan xterra has a rusted fuel tank. I always smell gas. Nissan corporate told me to bring it to a dealer.i brought it in to nissan to confirm this and they said" its rusted and dangerous to drive" i called corporate and they said the will get in touch with me in 3 days, its been 2 weeks. A gas tank should not rot in 5 years(bought in 05) with 58,000. If the tech said i should not drive this truck then why is nissan corp. Not getting back to me in a timely manner?

Defective fuel tank , fuel pump mounting bracket leaks at the mounting. Fuel vapor leakage and fuel leakage when tank is full.

Cruise control erratic behavior, stalling, excessive fuel consumption under staggered amounts, sluggishness.

I smell gas inside the car, i took it to a shop and they told me the gas tank isall rusted on top, causing the gas to spill out. I called junk yards and all there tanks for the nissan are also corroded. I called nissan and they said there were no recalls. They said it is from living in a salt area. However no other makes or models that i have had ever did this. I was told to take it to a nissan dealer for evaluation. Which i did but felt unsafe driving the car. I feel this should be a recall, please help. Thanks

2004 nissan xterra. Consumer states fuel tank is rusted out and the smell of gas is apparent *tgw

While driving there was an engine fire. Consumer indicated that a faulty fuel clamp was used which disengaged, causing fuel to spill. The vehicle was totaled. Contacted the dealer.

I smell gas inside the car, i took it to a shop and they told me the gas tank is all rusted on top, causing the gas to spill out. Speaking with nissan they said this is part of wear and tear of the vehicle, which i do not agree with.

Fuel gauge registering improperly. Only shows 3/4 tank upon filling tank full and will not drop upon usage of fuel. Gauge has only dropped once since i have owned the vehicle.

Flange around the fuel sending unit is corroded and fumes are escaping from the gas tank every time i fuel up my vehicle. Many xterras have this issue. I believe it should be a recall.

I'm surprised with all the complaints about the fuel tanks rusting out that there has not been a recall. Are they waiting for one to blow up or catch fire. The o ring leaks vapor and gas on fill ups because that area is all rusted. Either they have to use better coatingsor hide that area from the environment. The flange area is like a well and the water just sits there and rusts away the tank. P0455code is set which is evap system gross leak. Nissan omitted to me that they have problems with rusted fuel tanks . What is it going to take to get nissan to redesign a fix for this?

Coolant in transmission! bought new in march of2015. Was driving on i-10 in biloxi and it started smelling like a burnt rubber smell and it started smoking!pulled over and got out of it! left me and my daughter stranded on the side of the highway!

On may 9,2007 i shiftedthe 2004 nissan xterra from p arkto reverse and the vehicleaccelerated forward 10 feet. I had my foot on the brake pedal, but the vehicle did not stop until it hit a retaining wall. Ak

The automatic transmission shift is very wobbly, and there is a squeaky sound coming from the floor on the right side of the vehicle. Itwas taken to the dealer on six occasions, but nothing was resolved.

Vehicle was parked in driveway. There was a slight grade that went to the street. Consumer opened the driver's side door, putleft foot on the clutch, turned the key, and vehicle rolled backward. Consumerexpected the vehicle to jilt forward and stall whenfoot was removed from the clutch , but instead, it jilted, then surged forward at 25 mphup the driveway, dragging the consumer.consumer's hands were still on the steering wheel.the gas pedal was never depressed.vehicle was in first gear. Vehicle crashed into the house , but the rear wheel continued to turn. Two insurance adjusters came out and inspected the damage.dealership indicated that after the frontal repairs were performed, then theywill inspect vehicleattempting to duplicate the failureto determine what caused the acceleration, and then correct the problem.

Four wheel drive, when i put the lever into four wheel drive it take forever for it to come back out (the shifter moves but the light stays on) their are times the 4x4 light is dimly light? and other times it comes on for no reason, serviced twice was told they replaced a switch on the unit. Problem still exisits.

On 9/11/2016, while attempting to park my 2004 nissan xterra, there was a terrible accident.i pulled in front of a maechanics bay at firestone in newport news, va.while parking my suv, with my foot firmly on the brake, the suv rapidly accelatred and drove through the building and badly injured a mechanic standing in the bay.i was braking as hard as i could, and the suv kept accelarting and would not stop. I did not have my foot on the gas pedal. At the time of this accidnet, the suv was at atotal stop while shifitng it into park.it was located in the parking lot of firestone on warwick blvd. In newport news, va.this vechile was in as new condition with only a litte over 12,000 miles.it was a total loss.there was damage to the building, antother vechile in the bay, the driver of the suv, and severe inuries to the mechanic standing on the floor of the bay. Again, at no point , was the drivers foot on the gas pedal.the driver was braking throughout this incident and coud not stop the vechile.what is left of this vehicle is currently located in the geico lot on production drive in yorktown, virginia.

There were no indicators or events to lead up to a catastrophic brake failure in my 2004 nissan xterra.vehicle was purchased new from dealer, has only 55,000 mi of usage, for local driving/round trip to work.brake line cracked, fluid leaked which was an extremely unusual occurrence. I do not drive on lunar landscape, i.e. Pot holes, camping, or recklessly.this was sudden. Dealer ordered part, mechanic replaced part, entire brake line could not withstand pressure and more leakage ensued.dealer wanted to 'seal" the leak, not replace part, which ofcourse i feel is an inadequate repair. 2004 replacement part were not available at time of this writing. Car was inspected approximately 2 weeks ago and passed inspection.as of this writing vehicle has not been repaired.i believe this is a defective part and dealer is not forthcoming concerning breakage of brakeline.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra.the contact has experienced multiple failures with the braking system on her vehicle for the last five years.while driving 10 mph and applying the brakes, the vehicle jerks and continues to proceed.in addition, the brakes make a loud grinding noise.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failures.the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and a technician determined that the abs was failing and advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further inspection.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the failures could not be duplicated again.while pulling into the driveway, the brake system failed.the vehicle crashed into a tree in the contact's yard.there were no injuries.the vehicle was inspected by an insurance adjuster, who determined that the abs failed.the vehicle is currently being repaired.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 90 and current mileage was 106,000.

Follow up to odi complaint number 10289404. Nissan completed replacing break line on 10/25/09.there were no events leading to first failure, nor events leading to 2nd failure.vehicle picked up driven short distance home from dealer; parked, not used.on 10/26, started vehicle for trip to work, brake pedal sunk again, brake light on steady red. Brakes failed again. Brake fluid again leaking, took pictures.called nissan-1-800 # again.called corporate office at area code 615 number.called dealer, left messages with manager, mike keenan.no answer back.receptionist said manager "too busy".vehicle not safe to drive, parked in driveway.as of this writing neither nissan nor nissan garage have called.

1. Front right lower a-frame (swing arm) fractured and released ball joint resulting in car collapsing onto the tire. Failure appears to be caused by metal fatigue due to rough edges of broken areas. Ball joint is in good shape and still grips a piece of the a-frame. There was no accident due to the fact the vehicle was being operated at a very low speed at the time of the incident. Had it happened at a high rate of speed would likely have caused a rollover crash with fatalities possible. Vehicle has not yet been repaired, all parts will be retained when it is.2. Left rear anti sway bar mounting clamp failed due to metal fatigue just days prior to this resulting in the anti sway bar bar pummeling the steel brake line until it sprang a leak. This resulted in a total loss of brakes. I replaced the broken clamp and brake line. Again no crash occurred due to low speed operation. I have the parts and pieces in my possession.3. Prior to this by a few weeks the left front free wheeling hub disintegrated while the car was being driven. I replaced the hub but have some pieces. I have no theory about what caused this failure, but it could have caused a loss of control and subsequent accident. We live in the foothills of the sierra nevadas and many roads are perched along steep rocky slopes. A loss of control caused by any of these incidents could have proved fatal. This car has only 90206 miles on it and has been driven gently. I have since discovered on a user forum for xterra fans that the rear sway bar has been a well known problem with them for quite a while with the result that they recommend removing the sway bar altogether and beefing up the rear shocks. This suggests that the xterras should be recalled on the rear sway bar issue.

Steering binds when coming to complete left turn, will not return when moving forwrd unless manually assisted, now steering gear starting to leak.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph around a bend when he lost control of the steering. The vehicle was then suddenly flipped driver side up. The contact and all the passengers in the vehicle were transported to the hospital via ambulance. The contact sustained a contusion to the brain and the rear seat passenger sustained injuries to the leg. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not contacted in regards to the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

After repairing steering column problem (recall id# 10v554000) less than one year, the gear box cracked and power steering fluid drained causing power steering lost function. I think gear box cracked problem is related to the steering column problem. I have contacted nissan dealer and regional office but they denied the relationship of the problem.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra which was purchased brand new in 2004. He noticed a leak similar to oil in the front end of the vehicle. The dealer stated that the steering system needed to be replaced. They also advised the contact that the leak was in the steering system and would become progressively worse. There were no recalls on his vehicle and the repairs would be at the owner's expense. The failure and current mileages were under 49,000.

The steering weal it's becoming stiff and is becoming hard to maneuver around and it might affect my driving and i'm scared i might crash and this is the only vehicle i have and own and have no other means to purchase another car. I was heading to work and i tried turning on the corner and it just became hard to steer the steering weal.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra.while attempting to make a right turn at approximately 40 mph, the steering column became extremely difficult to steer.after close inspection, the contact noticed that all of the power steering fluid exited the vehicle.he took his vehicle to a local mechanic and was informed that the bracket on the hose, between the pump and the steering unit, was rusted.the mechanic further stated that the high pressure tube and the return unit needed to be replaced.the dealer informed the contact that he would be responsible for the repair costs since his vehicle was out of warranty.he filed a formal complaint with the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 26,000 and current mileage was 27,500.

Speeds over 60 hits a bump and starts rocking and bouncing

First-my steering was getting hard - i asked a tech at nissan what possibly could be the problem.they suggested change the steering fluid first.i did and then i learned there was a recall - i would like a reimbursement of $96.25 for the steering power fluid flush that i did not need.i was never notified and found out by calling nissan because the problem was still happening.i took the suv into nissan service to do the recall repair- it was done however, i still had a hard steering problem.they looked at it again and they now said i needed a gear box which i recorded earilier with you in a previous complaint .if i do in fact need a gear box i feel that it got defective due to the recall - this is over a $2,000 repair.a very short time after my car left the service department (after they said i may need a gear box) i almost had a very bad car accident - my front tires and steering wheel began to shake and the wheel felt like it was coming off - i towed the suv to nissan service and i am now told that the tierod assembly needs to be replaced at a cost of over $700.00.why did they not see the problem the week before? i want to be reimbursed for $96.25 steering power flush, towing charge of $120.00 and the tie rod assembly replacement approx. $800.00 and i want this investigated.do i really need a gear box?i could have gotten into a very bad accident if that wheel to fly off.please look into this problem.thank you -nissan xterra 2004your department and nissan needs to look into this problem - i could have died.does it have anything to do with the 4 wheel drive?

I have replaced my starter 3 times. My brake lights have a short or faulty wiring i'm sure because we have replaced the bulbs several times. I have gotten tickets because of this as a result i have a expired brake tag i cant get a new one because the wiring will cost to much. My uv joint broke while i was driving on the high way. The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized while driving. The contact had to use extra strength just to turn the steering wheel. In addition, the abs and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the catalytic converter was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 155,000.

Steering is sloppy.steering wheel has excessive play.there is a lot on this topic across the internet forums.

April 9,2009thanks for talking with me about my issue.re: maine's express and implied warranty laws: as we discussed please find enclosed maine law that basically extended any express warranty from a car dealer based on the enclosed criteria.since the nissan xterra has a 6 year power train warranty i have the right to assert that the defective part, which is a safety hazard for me and family, should have lasted well beyond 4 1/2 years or 46,000 miles on the car. I am requesting that you authorized berlin city nissan to repair this part (number: 497109z400) which can only be purchased through the dealer. This part simply was defective and faulty and was not in any way abused pursuant to maine law. The part clearly did not meet the maine warranty law of fit for ordinary purposes in fact the dealer told my wife and me they very rarely if ever see this part come in for repair.in summary, i request that nissan doe the right thing and authorized a full payment of the above mention part along with the $96.50 cents which i have already paid berlin city to diagnose of the problem with part number:497109z400. Thanks for your assistance taking care of this matter to avoid a formal compliant to maine attorney general's office.http://www.maine.gov/ag/dynld/documents/clg4.pdfhttp://www.maine.gov/tools/whatsnew/attach.php?id=27919&an=1.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to courtesy nissan (1777 n central expy, richardson, tx 75080) to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 10v554000 (steering). After retrieving the vehicle from the dealer, it was discovered that the steering wheel was loose. The contact stated that the steering wheel was able to turn three inches to the right or left, but the wheels failed to move. The contact also stated that a loud noise was heard coming from the front driver's side tire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to another dealer because courtesy nissan had lost the vehicle for several days. The approximate failure mileage was 212,000.*pmconsumer stated dealer wanted the vehicle to be left a the dealer for 2 weeks but consumer could not, without a loaner, due to work.

Vehicle has tight steering. Barely able to turn wheel while not moving.independent garage checked steering, found corrosion in steering linkage and notified me of recall. When contacted nissan dealer claims that recall does not cover this vehicle. Called nissan customer service number who also denied the recall. Vehicle is within the recall dates and was manufactured at smyrna, tn plant.representative could not say why this vehicle was not included.wanted me to take to dealer and pay to have repaired.either nissan is not honoring the commitment to the recall or the recall needs to be expanded to include all of the effected vehicles.

I currently own a 2004 nissan xterra and it is leaking water in the rear.i had the back glass and roof rack checked out by a professional.to the professionals finding the window and roof rack were not leaking but the welded seam of my vehicle is leaking on the rear passenger side.the seam was never welded right and over the course of time it has caused a hair line crack on the roof.the professional looked on the rear driver side and noticed the welded seam is started to give away too.due to the crack my vehicle is leaking water everytime it rains or snows.my back carpet has been removed so no further damage can be done to the back interior.

1.after two months (4000 miles), i brought it into the dealer for service.they gave an alignment, which took two days because they said it was so far out of alignment.the car still pulled to the right, so i brought it in for service multiple times, and they always stated that they couldn't duplicate the problem.on 11/17/05, a non-dealership mechanic give an alignment.again, they required that they keep my car for two days because the alignment was so messed up, and ultimately they said they could not align it.i took it to another independent mechanic, who claimed he aligned it, on 11/23/05.it still wasn't driving properly so i called the corporate headquarters, who told me to take it to a dealer.i paid for an alignment there on 12/1/05.however, the spec sheet they gave me showed that the sai was still out of spec.i took it to another dealer for service, and paid for yet another alignment on 12/13/05.however, the spec sheet they gave me showed that the caster and sai were out of spec.the service manager discovered the front end was raised too high, so they lowered it and gave another alignment, and the sai is still out of spec.the spec for sai ranges from 10.3 to 11.3 degrees, and my most recent alignment shows 9.64 on the left and 10.24 on the right.when i drove the vehicle brand new off the lot, it wasn't driving properly.at the time, i thought it would be easily fixable and no big deal.but the problem hasn't been resolved yet.the first alignment took two days, and it continued to pull after the alignment.it has always pulled, and the steering wheel twists when driving over bumps or when braking (even on flat surfaces.) 2. After three alignments in the past two months,my vehicle is still out of spec.no one is able to align it within spec.it is dangerous for a vehicle to be out of alignment because it does not allow the driver full control.

Passenger side rear leaf spring broke while driving on the freeway, almost puncturing gas tank according to the mechanic. The driver's side rear leaf spring broke while driving on city streets. I was advised by my mechanic that this was definitely an item that should not have failed and it is most likely due to defective part, as the metal layered leaf spring should not break. The mechanic advised that since the vehicle is not one that is driven in a manner of off roading, that the failed leaf spring was defective and something that should be investigated by the authorities perhaps, as a recall item. He advised that i should file a complaint and i have reviewed this site to determine that many others have had issue with the leaf springs breaking. Please investigate. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for routine service when the mechanic diagnosed that the leaf spring was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 170,319.

At 39,000 miles, right rear leaf spring snapped during normal driving conditions.

Vehicle has 40k miles on it (7k miles past 36m/3y warranty).leaf spring assembly on passenger's side rear broke - part should not break at 40k miles.leaf spring assembly defective per all the mechanics i have spoken to.part should last 100k miles or more.vehicle never driven off road.

Rear leaf springs broke on vehicle. Vehicle never driven off road. First one cracked at 57,000 and 2nd one broke at 64,000 miles. Mechanic thought that failure of these was premature and a safety hazard to drive.

Got into my car one day and upon trying to crank it , when turning the key it hesitated to crank and finally did so. When i reached my destination, when i left my car would just not crank. No clicks. Lights work fine. Nothing is wrong with security, battery. Just replaced the starter around oct of last year.

I have changed my fuel pump 11 times in two years something ain't right

Vehicle overheated while driving down the highway. Upon inspection, an approximately 4in crack was noticed on the top of the radiator, passenger side, near the thermostat. Replacement of the radiator was required.

Cruise control: when actuating the accelerate button the vehicle surges excessively as if one was pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor causing a very dangerous situation.this is a consistant problem that appears to have no resolution with the deler or manufacturer.

Rear window busted out on it's own. There was no one touching it or anything. My wife was getting out nephew out of the back seat and the window busted out, spreading pieces of glass all over the back inside and outside of the vehicle.i want the glass replaced free of charge and someone needs to check and see what caused the window to bust out so no one get hurt or has a wreck while driving down the road and the window bust out.

Vehicle was returned to dealer with driver-side window slow to rise. Dealer advised there was no problem, after 3rd visit, dealer advised that they have re-greased rotors inside door and nothing more to do. Vehicle was taken to different dealer and had raising arm replaced in both front windows. Problem is consistent with 02, 03 and some 04 xterras as per nissan service shops.

The side mirrors of my 2004 nissan x-terra show markedly distortion of images.this has nothing to do with the convection of the right mirror.it is most probably related to faulty glass manufacturing. Specially the left mirror is not optically flat.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan xterra.while driving 45 mph the front windshield header separated without warning.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. No repairs were made.the failure mileage was 62,000.the current mileage was 80,000.the vehicle identification number was unavailable.

I was drive my nissan xterra in in highway and my car start to shake and with in 15 minute 3 lug nut out of 6 came out and other three about to loose. It was scary. I anyhow approached to car repair shop and learned that my front wheel bearing gone bad. I just found that nissan xterra 2012 has recall for similar bearing issue. This is very disturbing while such incidence on highway and i keep losing faith on such most reliable nissan brand name therefore, i would sincere request to please include xterra 2004 model for this recall too. Thanks

While driving my 2004 nissan xterra the front driver's side tire detached from the rotor and my vehicle sunk down and continued to skid for approximately 200 feet before coming to a stop.the detached tire caused damage to an oncoming vehicle.after stopping i observed that two lug nuts had been sheared off.the vehicle's tires had not had any service done to them recently and it is still a mystery as to why the wheel detached.it is still unknown as to what the extent of the damage to the vehicle is and there is no way to inspect the detached tire as it went into a marshland and was lost.
