Takata recall - received recall notice in the mail in early march 2017. Parts for the recall repair were expected by the end of april. It is now the beginning of july and i have not received any updates and no repairs. I am not supposed to drive with passengers in the front seat and i feel unsafe driving this vehicle. I've been waiting for parts and notification of repair for over three months. My initial letter states that if my recall is not completed in a timely manner that i should file a complaint with the nhtsa, and i am doing that now. Please help me get my vehicle repaired.

I received a safety recall notice from nissan explaining the following: "continued exposure to areas with high levels of absolute humidity may cause the front passenger air bag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death." when i called nissan in july 2016 they said they would be receiving the parts to fix the problem by either september or october 2016. I called nissan again on october 17, 2016 they said they will not have the parts until december 2016. I have not received any follow-up notice of any kind and if i had not called nissan on the 17th of october, they would not have notified me to let me know that the parts will now not be in until december 2016. I would like better communication and more updates from nissan while this issue is resolved since i now cannot allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat and it is an extreme inconvenience for me since i need to have that seat available for my family.

Takata recallmarch 2, 2017my complaint is that the recall has not been resolved in a timely manner.i received nhtsa recall 16v-349 in july 2016 and at this date, after some calls to the dealerships, airbags have not been replaced.recently i was told the replacement airbags received were inferior & had to be remade.this has been a great ongoing inconvenience because no one can safely ride in the front passenger seat.this time period without resolution is too long. Every time i contact the dealership, they say "parts will be in next month".

Takata recall - i cannot get my local dealers to return my call to schedule an appointment to get this issue fixed. I continue to get warning notices from nissan usa, but local dealers avoid scheduling recalls, always saying they must "confer with the production manager to ensure parts are available", they then promise to call back but never do.i have left phone numbers and email addresses and never heard from either of them. At this point i believe they are stalling on the fixes hoping the older cars simply die and go to the graveyard first.

All the airbags not working as indicated lights flashing! recall states passenger airbag could explode causing metal fragments resulting in injury even death.was informed by nissan san francisco dealer that there is no fix for the airbag problem yet and they're not responsible for my anything to do with airbags not engaged except for the recall and that there is no fix for currently for the safety recall. In addition, when buying new tire sand getting a wheel alignment, i've been informed that all 4 of my struts are bent and suspension is off as a result.

I received a recall notice in july 2016 about the air bag sensors for the passenger air bags being faulty and requiring replacement. I've called my dealership and the nissan headquarters numerous times about getting the part replaced. Each time i call, i'm told that i have to wait another month for the part to become available. This happened in july, september, october and now in december. The last time i spoke with nissan, they told me that the part may not be available until january or february of 2017, a full 8-9 months after having received the recall notice. I haven't been able to seat anyone in the front passenger seat since the recall notice. I have kids and need to be able to use that seat. A huge company like nissan shouldn't string along their consumers along for close to a year to resolve a safety issue.

Takata recall.why is this taking so long?i cannot take my family anywhere in one vehicle.this is our family car and i cannot live with myself if i have a family member sitting in the front seat.i live in augusta, ga.humidity is life here and i am so upset that this is taking so long and i feel like i will be hurt every time i get into my car.i worked hard for this vehicle and cannot use it for the sole purpose that i purchased it for.this is not right.

Takata inflators. Recall instructions include driving car to dealer so they can see it. This seems counterintuitive since the airbags can kill people.

Takata recallit has been 6 months since i received a notice from nissan, not to have any people in passenger seat. I am in business and this has forced me to seat people in back of car. I think there should be a solution for this as soon as possible.

I was informed in may 2016 of the airbag recall and nissan still does not have the part to repair it, they said jan 2017. And now the transmission has failed in the vehicle and nissan wants to charge 4600.00 to fix it. I have spoken to several mechanics and nissan has had a terrible failure rate with these to parts, also the front coil had to be replaced because of a recall. In the state of virginia you have to pass an inspection and that was due in may 2016 and the airbag parts are not in till 01/2019. I had to spend money out of my own pocket to have the car pass inspection in order for my daughter to drive it without getting a moving violation for failed inspection. Nissan said they would be glad to give me a discount only i purchased a new vehicle- that is unjust.

I was merging from the lh to the rh lane on an intersection when my car was hit on the passenger side by an on-coming pick-up truck. At the time of the collision i was struck on the rh side of my head by the car's radio which was apparently dis-engaged from the car's instrument panel. I was the only passenger in my vehicle, was wearing my seat belt. The passenger side air bags deployed.my head injury was treated on-site by an ems unit and i was transferred to a local hospital where i was diagnosed with a concussion.on 8/13/2014 my car was transferred to my local nissan dealer (where i purchased the vehicle) for inspection by my insurance company. At the dealership the radio issue was communicated by my husband to to the dealership collision manager, a dealership salesman and my insurance company adjustor.the adjustor and my husbandtook photos of the expelled radio that clearly demonstrated broken plastic assembly/latch tabs. The radio and photo was shown to the nissan salesman. The comment from the dealership collision manager to my husband was "he sees this all the time with nissans" as the radio is not bolted and can become disengaged when the instrument panel is compressed.my husband communicated this incident to nissan north america consumer affairs (file number 15337234). On august 19, 2014 they responded "based on the available information and the mileage of the subject vehicle, nissan north america, inc. Finds that an inspection of the vehicle is not necessary." in my opinion this response is not a satisfactory answer to a potential design or manufacturing issue resulting in a serious safety hazard.

Takata recall .have waited 8 months for recall repair with no date in sight.they suggest i either wait for repair which could be years away or to get another car.i cannot afford another car, my car was in excellent shape and i cannot travel with friends in the passenger seat who get car sick.airbag recall is for passenger side. The resale of this car without a passenger side airbag with an uncompleted recall will be very poor.

Takata recall. We have a nissan versa 2008 and we received 2 letters about the takata recall. We just moved to new jersey about 3 months ago. My boyfriend daniil went to the nissan dealership in edison and they refused him a rental car because he is not 21 years old. We are 20. I thought that's not possible, it's a big safety issue, they can't just refuse it because we're not 21. What does age have to do with our safety? the following morning, me and my boyfriend drove to the route 33 nissan in hamilton, nj. A lady named mckayla did the paperwork for us, everything was set and then she said "oh wait you're not 21 yet, i can't loan you a car." she said to call the service assist line to further assist us. So we called the line, and turns out the guy that we were supposed to talk to doesn't work on the weekends. So if the airbags would've went off during the weekend and we died, then what? i called mckayla on monday and she told us if we could find a company that would rent us the car, nissan would pay for it. So i called hertz in new york since their legal age to rent a car is 18, and they agreed to rent us a car but nissan refused to pay for it since it was out of state. If nissan screwed up with these recalls, they need to take responsibility for their actions and pay the necessary for the inconvenience. We went back to the route 33 nissan dealership and went to the supervisor's office to speak to him. He said there's nothing he can do for us because we're not 21. Last time i checked, you didn't have to be 21 to own a nissan. Last time i checked, there was nowhere in the paperwork when buying a nissan that states: "in the case of a recall, if you're not 21 and over you will be leased a loaner car till we fix your car" so then why is this such an issue? i'm so scared that on our way to work or on our way home the air bags will go off and we will die.

Takata recall(nissan versa hatchback)airbag light will not turn off in car. This relates to vehicle safety for any passenger in front seat of car in case of an accident. Have had to replace sensors and catalytic converter once and have been told recently i need the major catalytic converter replaced again. Sometimes an unusual smell comes from engine when i start car.

We received a notice from nissan that the airbag on passenger side was very dangerous.do not let anyone ride on the passenger side. I went to the nissan dealer and they said that they couldnt get the parts to fix it.it was approximatley 8-9 months later when they finally received the parts.lt was a real hardship to not carry any passengers in the front seat for that long.the dealer allowed me to take one of their cars for 1 weekend but i couldnt ask for any more.i am not sure about any dates anymore.

When will the parts be available???

The airbag light on dashboard keeps blinking and the passenger airbag light says it is off on the center console even when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. Had it checked once before and they said it was not an issue and a friend who had the same lights on her 2007 versa had to go on three times to get it turned off after being checked. It would keep coming back on and finally took it in for the fourth time they said she would need to pay for replacement airbags and it was ogling to cost $1200 but she took it to a second opinion and they told her a cable under the passenger seat was broken and needed to be fixed for $80 and it fixed her versa. I haven't had a chance to take mine in to get checked for the second time but it concerns me driving wondering if it's broke. Or just a small cable that needs fixing

Nissan notifies me of the recall but are refusing to repair this issue in a timely manner force me to drive a dangerous car putting me and my family in danger along with others of the public who have to share the road with these dangerous cars

Takata recalli received notice about the recall earlier this year i immediately called a dealership. They told me they were out of parts and that they were only getting one or two in a month from nissan. They told me to call back in june or july because that is when they were expecting regular shipments of the part. I called during this time frame and they still did not have parts available. Now i've received a notice that they won't have any parts until spring of 2018. I'm very concerned and confused. This sounds like a very serious issue that needs to be fixed and every mailing i receive says have it fixed immediately but then i'm told that there isn't a possibility to fix it until sometime in the spring of next year?!?!

I received a preliminary recall notice in july 2016, and the dealer states they have no idea when replacement parts will be available. I think is too much burden to place onan unsuspecting customer.i do not have the use of the front passenger seat in a small car!nissan hads last all credibility and ai will never purchase one, nor advise anyone to do so. The nhtsa should force the firm to find replacement parts rather than stall until no cars are left to repair.

The driver side clock spring has developed a problem that affects all of the air-bags in the car. None work.this was detected only after they had worked on the problem for a very minor defect.the trouble lights come on and off at any given moment.i went over the depressions in the center of the road to pass a car and the tire problem light came on.now none of the power windows work.i don't believe i should have all these problems with a car that is only 8 years old.

Takata recall - it has almost been a year since the recall and a 2nd letter has not been sent out & a repair has not been done. It is unreasonable to expect me to drive a car in which no one can sit in the passenger seat for a year or more due to a dangerous air bag!

I received a recall notice in the mail (nhtsa recall 16v-349)on july 27, 2016 with a warning that the passenger seat air bag could rupture, but would be repaired at nissan's expense.this notice stated that i would be contacted by nissan to bring my vehicle in for repair when parts where available.i waited until september 26, 2016 without any word from nissan whatsoever.on september 26th 2016i placed a call to nissan consumers affairs dept.at 1-800-647-7261 andspoke witha girl named shasha at ext457784,who gave me a case #24185800and told me that it might be a month before i would hear anything as parts were not available at that moment. On october 27, 2016 i called again, as in the meantime i was not able to have any passengers ride in the front seat, and i have been very diligent in complying with this suggestion.this time i talked to a girl named jonna at ext. #457477 who gave me a different case # 24454562 but told me that it would be the end of december of 2016 or possibly as far as the end of march 2017 before they would have parts available.now, today is march 31, 2017 and i have not been contacted by any nissan dealership or anyone else who would give me any kind of information.so now i am using this website to submit a complaint, can you please help me? my phone numberwas just recently changed, but i still live at the same address that the recall was sent to.

Back in april of 2013 i got into a car accident where i rear ended a stopped vehicle going 40-50mph. My airbags did not deploy, which resulted in the injury of myself (the driver), and both of my passengers. I hit the windshield and got a concussion. My passenger in the front of the car received a fracture on her collar bone because the airbags did not deploy.

Today was in an accident, car slid and rolled multiple times. The car is completely totaled and i was informed that 100% air bags should have deployed but they did not. Checked for recalls and there is recalls for this vehicle for airbags but my vin does not match the database.

Takata recallairbag light continues to flash.

"takata recall" - i received the recall notice in the mail from nissan in july 2016. Just recently (september 2016) we contacted our local nissan service department to check on the status of the parts needed to perform the recall and they told us that the parts are available and scheduled an appointment for us to come in. My wife took the car in for the scheduled appointment and while she waited one of the workers came out and said they can't do the work because they got a notice from nissan corporate saying to only fix cars that are registered in florida, usa. I called nissan direct to complain. A case number was opened and i was told someone from corporate would contact me in a few days. That hasn't happened yet. Now i am forced to not allow anyone to ride in the passenger seat, when this is our only vehicle and we regularly need all 5 seats for the volunteer work that we do. If this part does not need replaced, then i want a written notice from nissan saying that the car is safe to drive at full capacity, or a replacement vehicle needs to offered. This is unacceptable.

Takata recall, got a recall for passeneger airbag recall which said don't let anyone ride in passenger seat unitl replaced which i did the part took over 6 months to get in took the car in had the passenger airbag replaced. Yesterday i got in the mail another recall for the drivers airbag recall , but it says awaiting parts will be available in spring 2018!! reason for recall the airbag can rupture in a crash which could result in metal shrapnel striking the driver ot other occupants in the vehicle, which can cause serious injury or death!! why in the hell did i receive two separate recalls for the airbags , seems to me they should have recalled them at the same time.i commute in the car what am i suppose to do?says to call nissan dealership for details if i require alternate transportationor complimentary loaner vehicle upon request..are you serious you think they are goint t o give me a loaner vehicle till the spring? will call them monday but we already know the answer to that right!!outraged it wasn't recalled at the same time instead of two separate recalls..i got to get to work what am i suppose to do?!!!

Takata recall - my airbag light has been on for a year.i took it to planet nissan in las vegas, nv 12/13/16 to have it checked out.i was told that it would cost $1000 to repair.i declined as it was too expensive and was told that it didn't need to be replaced.a few months later i was told about a recall and was informed that the part would be in in july 2017.it is now december 2017 and i have been told that the part will not be in until july 2018.nothing has happened but i do not feel safe driving the car and would like the part to be replaced as soon as possible.

Takata recall (potentially - my notice doesn't say specifically).i received a recall notice early this year that said i would be receiving a second letter by the end of april for replacement parts for the "front passenger air bag inflator". It is now the end of june, and i haven't received the letter. I am currently unable to use my passenger seat due to this. It also seems there is a danger to me continuing to drive the car.

Takata recalli was notified last summer about a recall on the air bag and was told not to have passengers in the vehicle due to the potentially fatal flaw. This is my only vehicle and i have a family that needs rides. I contacted the dealer recently and was told they don't have the parts and that nissan wasn't allowing them to order the parts. I contacted nissan and they tell me the parts are not available until some time in 2017. This is unacceptable that they are aware of the risk and are not expediting this repair to be performed. They basically give me the impression they don't care and they are not in a hurry to get this done. I expected this potential fatal flaw in the vehicle to be repaired asap not when they feel like it. This needs to be expedited because if anything does occur and their is injury or death it is on you and nissan for not getting this taken care of in a very timely manner. I also have the tire pressure monitor system which i understand now is a federal regulation to have equipped on vehicles. This system is very faulty and does not work and extremely expensive to repair. I think if the federal government is going to require this they need to make sure the equipment is reliable and not a high cost to repair.

I have received two recall notices (16v-349 and 17v-449) about this issue. These notices came many months apart. After receiving each notice, at my next service appointment (priority nissan, tysons corner, virginia) i inquired, and i was told that parts were not available, but would be available in coming months (e.g., if i asked in october, i was told the parts would be available in spring). I am beginning to believe that there is no real intention to honor these recalls, and i am feeling somewhat uneasy when driving the car.

Takata airbags:i have taken my vehicle in twice for the same recall. First time, i was told a temporary part was put in until the permanent one came from the manufacturer (that was earlier this year), then i receiveda call from this same dealership that the permanent part was in. So i took it back in july for it to be installed and yet, that part has been recalled also. The dealership tells me "they are waiting on the manufacturer for the replacement part that will finally fix this issue with the takata inflator airbag issue. Meanwhile and as i wait, i am putting myself in danger driving the car and those who ride with me. This inflator issue needs to be fixed and soon! i need help getting the proper resolution that will remedy this situation. The manufacturer need to speed up the process and make this a priority to get resolved as i have two nissan versa's and both have the same takata inflator issues under the recall. My other car is a 2010 also needing the permanent part to fix it's inflator issue.

"takata recall"at the end of september 2017, i received a letter from nissan north america stating my driver side airbag is on a recall list and that parts would be available spring 2018 and i would get a second letter when the parts are available. So i was given at rental car since they were out of loaner cars at fred anderson nissan of raleigh, nc.which is good.two weeks ago i got a call from the parts dept. Of fred anderson stating that my driver side airbag part is in and i should come for a repair, so i asked if they had anofficial letter from nissan north america, because i had not received the second letter notifying me of the part being available.i asked him what brand and he (alex) said takata and it was a limited supply.now that company and all its holdings have gone bankrupt.i said i would call him back.then i received an email from their internet sales person chad susan stating that i should bring my car in and trade it in for a new car, since the recall part will not be available until spring 2018, they would take my car now if i wanted to trade it in for a new car.hmmmm same dealership.then i got a call from lauren from service stating the driver side airbag recall part is in.so i called nissan north america consumer affairs on 11/10/17ans spoke to bridgette andshe said the recall part is not in and was not aware of any limited supply of airbags for the driver side recall.she said she would open a claim and a claim rep,. Would call from a 615 number. So i got a call from jacco from nissan north america claims who stated that he spoke to the service manager and service director and they had a limited supply of the airbags. So i asked jacco to send me a letter or an email stating that they indeed have a limited supply of airbags for the recall part and he said he could not do that. This is alarming!!!!!! even if takata!

Takata recall i've contacted nissan of north america and two different dealers about getting my air bag replaced or getting a rental for three weeks with no luck the dealership said the airbag would be in in a week three weeks later no airbags i called nissan of north american and asked about a rental till they come in and i keep getting the run around first it was we can't get you a rental bc you don't have insurance which i told them i clearly do and would be happy to provide it than they have no rental available i've stoped driving the car dew to the safety issues and would like to get this resolved so i can start driving my car again

Takata recall - it has been about a year since first time i contacted the dealer for repair of this recall item.yet to date, i get the same excuse that they don't have the part and they will call me when they have a part. Meanwhile, this vehicle is in use because, it is a primary transportation for me and my family.

Takata recall. Nissan has yet to notify me about this recall. I found out through a close friend and had to search my vin number online by myself to find out my car is unsafe for my passengers.

There is a safety recall issued but no resolution info available on this website.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While operating the vehicle, the passenger side air bag sensor indicator remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bannister nissan (1250 military hwy, norfolk, va) where it was diagnosed that the passenger seat air bag sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure of the failure but no assistance was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 85,000.

I was in an automobile accident. I was braking, almost at a stop or moving at 2 mph when a vehicle collided with the right front fender and door of my 2008 nissan versa with the front end of his vehicle. The airbag on the driver's side of my nissan versa deployed and a piece of metal struck my sternum fracturing same. I also had two hematomas on my right breast as a result of the metal striking my chest with extreme force.. The accident occurred at an intersection of two city streets, not highways.i was traveling straight going west and the other vehicle was traveling straight going south. The other vehicle's speed was approximately 25 to 30 mph.the airbag in the 2008 nissan versa deployed with such force that the metal piece was exposed and that is what caused my injuries. I noticed a recall on the 2008 nissan versa, dated march of 2016, for the front takata airbags..updated 10/13/16

My airbag light has been on for a few days now and i'm scared to drive the car

I received a letter regarding an "important safety recall" from nissan. The reason for recall is as stated - "continued exposure to areas with high levels of absolute humidity may cause the front passenger air bag inflator housing to rupture and deploy abnormally resulting in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or death."what you should do, as stated in the letter - "once you receive an invitation to repair letter, please contact your nissan retailer to schedule an appointment. In the meantime, do not allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat. If you remain concerned about the air bag inflator in your vehicle, contact the consumer affairs department at 1-800-647-7261.well we waited at least 3 weeks with no letter so we called. The parts are not available and won't be until maybe september, they are going to be manufactured. The versa is very small and the driver is about a foot away from the passenger air bag. This is a terrifying prospect thatair bag may explode. I am afraid to drive my car which i paid $17,000 for in 2008 and i cannot carry passengers. Nissan and the dealer at west hills nissan in coraopolis, pa refused us a loaner/rental car to drive in the interim. This is unacceptable. Please help.thank you.

Takata recall - took auto to dealer for recall on passenger side airbag.after completion and oil change dealer tells me about a recall on the drivers side.have not received notification yet.dealer suggests we park the auto and not drive it until parts to repair are available, which will be april of 2018.that is 7 months!will give us a "new" rental vehicle every 30 days, but we have to furnish insurance coverage on the vehicle.for work i park in a garage, and scratches and occasionally dings happen.this would be normal wear and tear for me, but they are explaining that my insurance would have to repair.i have a $500 deductible, and this could possibly be a very expensive solution.why would takata not have the parts to repair the vehicle?why should i assume such liability and possibly expense. Took vehicle to hays nissan, madison, tennessee. Updated 11/6/2017

Takata recall - our 2008 nissan versa had a recall notice that i received in march 2017, stating "do not allow passengers to ride in the passenger seat" due to metal shrapnel potentially striking driver or passengers and causing serious injury or death. It also stated "nissan anticipates parts to be available for your versa by the end of april 2017".since then,i had not received any new updates or notice from nissan.in august 2017, i phoned nissan's consumer affairs division and was informed that the driver side airbag also had a recall for similar fatal risk.they said they would look into a form of compensation since the car could not be driven.after setting me up with a local nissan dealership (campbell nissan of edmonds), i would find out the dealership expected me to drive the car to the dealership as a prerequisite to get setup with enterprise rental car.this seemed to be flawed plan, considering the driver's side airbag posed a fatal risk.along with that, because the rental car would require me to add insurance new coverages, nissan consumer affairs refused to reimburse any additional insurance cost i had to assume for their rental loaner vehicle.the takata airbags parts still do not have an expected date.with the lack of notice (phone call, email, letter) outside of the initial notification for the passenger side airbag, there could have been serious injury or even death to my wife and i due to the lack of communication and ownership on nissan's part.not only that, they have setup a very poor system for helping consumer's transition to their offering of a rental vehicle.attached are the original letter i received as well as a "campaign vehicle storage agreement" that nissan requested i sign, even though it suggested i was ok to drive the vehicle to and from the dealership before repair.[xxx][xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Takata recallmy 18 year daughter's car was recalled for a defective air bag. We brought it o the dealer and was told it would take a minimum of 8 months very the defect to be corrected. A "loaner car" was given to us. The problem is my daughter is 18 and the dealer won't let her drive the loaner. She is a full time college student and works 2 jobs. It's imperative that she has a car. If it was only going to take a few weeks or even a month before the problem was corrected we would make the necessary arrangements for her. 8 months or very possibly longer is way to long and is going to put an undue burden to our family. After contacting nissan corp. They haven't yet given me a solution to this dilemma. I believe that it is their responsibility to correct a wrong caused by their faulty workmanship. I'm asking you as a tax payer to please step in and mediate this problem. I feel nissan should make me "whole". Myself nor my family should have to deal with this added stress caused by the manufacturer's mistake. I asked them to replace my daughter's car or at the very least buy this car back from me.

I received a notification from nissan a few months back (i believe it was in august 2017) letting me know about a recall on the driver's side airbag for my 2008 nissan versa. I called the nissan dealer empire nissan ontario, ca (909) 906-7424. I was the parts wouldn't be available until spring 2018. I asked should i still be driving my car, is it safe? at that time the dealer told me to call nissan north america headquarter, there was nothing he do or say about my car and the recall. I tried several time to call the headquarters and i have been put on hold for long period of time to where i had to hang up. I still have no answer on is it safe for my family or myself to be driving our car? thank you [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Takata recall. I have a family of five including two car seats making it impossible to for us not to use the passenger seat of our nissan versa. I called nissan and they were willing to reimburse me for a car rental within 2-4 weeks after i paid for a rental car. Nissan refuses to pay for the extended insurance needed to cover a rental vehicle nor the deposit. If they're claiming liability how is it that we the consumer should suffer personal and financial anguish with the knowledge that we're forced to put ourselves or a family member in harm's way because of nissan's refusal to provide a rental car without financial attachments.

Driving 69 mph car went up onto bar ditch and traveled in a vey straight line for a quarter of a mile hitting a tree resulting in major injuries to my brother who was the driver and killing my dad passenger major blunt force trauma to the head.all my brother remembers is the cars side curtian airbag hitting him in the head. During the travel for 1/4 mile on bar ditch there are no signs of over correcting or braking. Witness to the acc. On jan 27th 2009 a pick-up attempted a left turn directly in front of me.i hit the pick-up in the passenger door doing about 25 mph.the air bag on my 2008 nissan versa did not deploy and i struck my head causing a concussion.

2008 nissan versa, hit in passengers side. Side curtain airbags deployed correctly. Pass seat side airbag deployed but never broke through the seat cover. Second issue with nissan versa we have seen.

A driver's side airbag has deployed during a collision but did not break trough the seat cover.

When attempting to take my keys out of the ignition after putting the car in park they will not come out.key is stuck in ignition.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that benson nissan (4676 calhoun memorial hwy, easley, sc 29640, (864) 850-6440) serviced the vehicle per an unspecified manufacturer air bag recall campaign. After the recall repair, the horn failed to function and the cruise control and air bag warning indicators remained illuminated. The dealer indicated that further diagnostic testing was required for additional repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact felt that the recall remedy caused the failures since there were none prior to the repair. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was not available.

Traveling on hwy-74 at 55 mph using cruise control there was an electrical issue inside the fuel pump which melted the fuel pump relay in the ipdm. This resulted in the vehicle completely shutting down while traveling on a busy highway. The ipdm was replaced however the fuel pump was not known to be an issue. The same thing happened again on the same highway this time at 65 mph. Fuel pump this time was identified to be causing the electrical issue.

Low pressure tire light goes on intermittently when doing highway driving and tire pressure is fine. Does not happen when driving around town, only on highway. Light will either blink or stay on until i slow down or get off highway. Took car to dealer, they cannot find a problem nor does the computer show any error codes. Dealer verified tire pressure was correct. Occurs every time i drive on the highway.

The intelligent key will not start the car, even when using the actual key and not the remote. The car beeps four times and displays a red car on the dash. When i put the key in the ignition, it will not turn.

The fan motor on the ac/defrost stops working leaving the operator no way to defrost the vehicle when ever the windshield either frosts or fogs over.this renders the car unsafe to drive in the winter.the a/c will continue to stay on regardless if you select it or not.there are literally a few thousand owners with this identical issue with this vehicle.all of them needed to replace this part which can cost on avg. $500 or more.the dealer states they are unaware of this issue but they stock the part.how many vehicles have to experience this issue before nissan recalls the vehicle to replace the part?

The driver side clock spring has developed a problem that affects all of the air-bags in the car. None work.this was detected only after they had worked on the problem for a very minor defect.the trouble lights come on and off at any given moment.i went over the depressions in the center of the road to pass a car and the tire problem light came on.now none of the power windows work.i don't believe i should have all these problems with a car that is only 8 years old.

Replaced the continuously variable transmission on 09/13/2011 at 92524 miles. Approximately 2 weeks later my daughter was driving vehicle and the car stalled. The car will run but when put it in gear it will not go anywhere or rev up. This car has been to three mechanics including nissan dealership and the problem cannot be found. Numerous parts were changed out but did not solve the problem. Sometimes it will drive for a short distance (less than a block) and then will be unmoveable again. This car has been undrivable since september 2011. They are a hazard on the highway due to the fact you never know when they are going to shut down. Also we are paying for a car that is undrivable.

The recent models of nissan automobiles have a serious "guillotine" hazard!i have rented two sedans in the last four weeks and noted this defect.the window-control wiring appears to have been reversed, since there is no "express" downward opening of the window.if the operating switch for the driver's-side window is lifted, the window completely closes even when the switch is released.the upward force of the window cannot be restrained by hand and is probably greater than 20 pounds.this might actually decapitate a small child and would cause serious injury to an adult.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that flames were seen from under the hood area while driving an unknown speed. The contact was not present at the time of the incident. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and sent an engineer to inspect the vehicle. The engineer was unable to determine the cause of the fire. The vehicle was destroyed. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.

I was driving my vehicle just turning the corner when my vehicle stopped running. I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. I open the hood and saw my engine was on fire. The battery area was fully enfulfed in flames, there were other areas of fire in the engine area, but i did not stay there to examine the situation. I immediately dropped the hood and ran to safety to call 911. My vehicle was properly maintained by downtown nashville nissan dealership. I reported this incident to them and to nissan north america, neither of which will take any responsibility. This is a serious situation. There should have been no reason for my vehicle to have burst into flames while driving it.

Stopped on our way home from asmall trip and refueled the versa. Noticed a small drip coming from the gas tank. Assumed it was coming from an overflow tube inside the fuel filler tube. The next day we took the versa to our mechanic and told him about it.he investigated and found the fuel leak coming from the fuel pump attached to the top of the fuel tank. The leak as hedescribed it coming from under the plug in where the wiring harness connects to provide power to the pump.under the plug in was a crack . There was also a hole that appeared in color of a burnt mark to the rear inside corner of the plug in wall exposing a metal stem goes to the prong that connects to the wiring harness. This area is above fuel tank surface or outside the top of the tank. Had this shorted out or created a spark, a possiblefire and/or explosion could have occurred and injury and/or death could have occurred to occupants inside the vehicle. When pump was replaced, i took pictures that i hope you can receive. The bottomside where the float arm attached to the sideslidingmetal parts formeasuringfuel level also appeared to have the blackened burnt color on the wall area of the metal parts. I have the defected pump in case you would like to check it out. I also have notified the nissan service center and showed them the pump defect. I'm wanting to inform you of this because there are other versa owners out there that could be affected by this. We were lucky.

The tire pressure monitoring system began to flash and then went to a steady signal. When i pulled over to check the tire pressure it was fine.this continued to happen almost daily and is still happening. On one occasion i ignored it and later that day i had a blow out due to low tire pressure.i cannot get the dealer to fix this.i changed wheels and added new tires and the condition continues.on some days while driving it will start to malfunction and then turn off. On other days it is fine. I have seen online that several other people have had the same problem.

I took the car in for the recalled springs, they were fixed.i took the car in for the replacement air bag, it was fixed.then the light came on on the airbag again and the dealership said it was a passenger side airbag sensor and it would cost thousands to fix it.he said the car was worth less than the fix would cost.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that the vehicle continued to operate after the key was removed from the ignition. When the key was placed in the ignition, there was an abnormal grinding noise. In addition, the vehicle experienced a loss of power. The vehicle was able to be operated after the vehicle was restarted manually. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the air bags replaced. The dealer could not replicate the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred three times. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

I was on the highway with my cruise set to 72mph, we did turn the ac on and a few minutes after that the car shut off and i had to force the wheel to get the car to the side of the road. Thank god i was in the left lane because if not i would have been stuck in the middle of the highway. I got my car most of the way off the road but when i tried to restart itwould not restart. I called for a tow truck and i did try to start it again while waiting and still nothing. It was a very scary experience to be sitting on the side of a highway because my car just shut off.

I was driving down the highway, when i saw sparks fly on the left hand side of road beside my car, the abs light and another light came on the dashboard and immediately went away when i braked and pulled off highway. I checked tires and everything appeared okay.drove approximately 10 more miles, heard a loud pop under the hood, car and lights shut down completely. Pulled off the highway, opened hood and battery was on fire. Vehicle has original battery and mileage around 51,000.called fire department to extinguish fire and they said something like that shouldn't have occurred on a vehicle that was pretty new.

I was driving just about to get onto the highway but as i was turning onto the on ramp i suddenly couldn't turn the wheel and crashed into the guard rail and my power steering light was on. My car underwent extensive damage on the outside and the alignment is now very bad. It had to sit overnight and when we got back to it the light was off. This is a very dangerous issue. (miles per hour below is an est.)this just occurred and in the process with insurance.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that the horn does not blow when you tap it on certain positions. The inability to alert other drivers increased the risk of vehicle crash. The dealer was notified and a technician concluded that the failure was a normal characteristic of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 483 and the current mileage was 12900.

Ignition problems. Unable to start vehicle, engine cranks but does not turn over on the first try. After the second to third try engine starts. Vehicle is new with only 150 miles on the odometer.

Trouble starting engine.the engine cranks but does not start.i must hold for 5 to 10 seconds before it starts when its cold or hot.

Our 2007 nissan versa has a ignition starting problem. It is a brand new car and will not start. You have to crank it to get it to start. There are complaints across north america on this problem. The sales manager at orlando nissan told me i will have to go through the service department and i already know others have failed at getting this problem fixed numerous times. This is a material defect and i am concerned for the safety of my wife and seven year old. It also has a loud clicking in the car when you turn the wheel hard to the left. There is no fix and the service departments will surely string this out and cost us time away from work and home and replace other things that are not causing it just to look proactive. I am not satisfied with that and would like the department to consider investigating this to recall this vehicle for an unsafe engine.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While driving approximately 70 mph, the contact switched from the right lane to the left lane. The vehicle ran off the road, into a ditch, crashed into the woods, and rolled over. The passenger side of the vehicle faced downward and the driver side faced upward. The air bags had not deployed. A police report was not filed.there were minor injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

My wife was making right hand turn, entering a highway, she lost total control of the steering. The vehicle veered to the left then veered to the right. She was able to stop the vehicle without incident and parked on the shoulder. Had car towed to garage, mechanic inspected suspension and steering, and was unable tofind a problem. H stated he went on line and discovered some steering issues. However, he stated, because it has an electronic power steering system, resetting the system by turning off the engine and restarting the vehicle should solve the immediate problem (as it was stated on the forum). This is ridiculous when you are going 60 mph and going back and forth across the road. I went to the local nissan dealership and he stated he knew nothing about this issue.

We had just gone throw the sunpass lane on i-275 n.my wife was driving and she started to push on the gas pedal and the engine die (ten feet out of the toll booth).she tried 3 times to start the car motor andeach time it started and then stopped.i jumped out of the car to push the car across 4 lanes of traffic (lucky it was 11:00pm) and there was not a lot of traffic.we had to have the car towed to our garage.they (hummel tire & auto, reg.#: mv-66432) was told my nissan (crown) that they knew about this problem and had a new improved a/c compressor (926001u60a,081468/251g. The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, smoke started to emit from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a mechanic.however, the failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

My friend had my vehicle. She had just made it home from work. She lives less than 10 minutes from her job. She said when she made it home she went into the apartment to change into a bathing suit and someone knocked on the door saying that there is a little black car smoking. She went outside and flames were coming out of the engine compartment. They all called 911. The firefighters put out the fire and they told her that it is a motor malfunction because it was parked and with no sort of overheating issue. Updated 09/15/15*ljupdated 11/22/2017

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact took the vehicle to russ darrow nissan of milwaukee (11212 w metro auto mall, milwaukee, wi 53224, (414) 586-3050) to have it repaired per an unknown recall. After the repair, an unknown service indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brakes and possibly the air bags failed. The dealer kept the vehicle for a month and provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was repaired again, but had trouble accelerating over 30 mph while traveling on the highway. The speedometer gauge increased to over 80 mph. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer two other times, but no failures were found with the vehicle. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 80,401.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While the vehicle was parked she attempted to start the vehicle and it would not start. The contact stated after the second attempt the vehicle started. The failure occurred intermittently and the vehicle normally starts on the second attempt. She also stated that the failure started shortly after it was purchased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure. The dealer advised her that there was nothing wrong with the starter. The contact mentioned the failure to the dealer on every service visit and the dealer never performed a diagnostic test. The contact stated that she scheduled an appointment with the dealer on april 13, 2011. The vehicle was not repaired and the vehicle was no longer covered under the warranty. She contacted the manufacturer and filed a complaint. The failure mileage was 489 and the current mileage was 5,200. Updated 05/05/11*ljthe dealer replaced the fuel regulator. Updated

The car has begun to make a loud metal clunking sound at the top right suspension as well as what almost sounds like a grinding but not similar to that of the braking system. I was going around a curve at the time. The sound gets worse when going down a hill changing speeds, switching lanes, on pot holes or an uneven surface. I took it to a few different places and could not reproduce the problem at the time. While driving with a more experienced mechanic he was able to determine the sound to be isolated to the right strut and the left inner tie rod. He said that the struts are usually only replaced once in a cars lifetime so i am wondering why it needs to be replaced so soon. I am writing the complaint because i think this has been an issue all along. The car needs an abnormal amount of realignments and brake replacements. When i first received the car the rotors and brakes had to be replaced because somehow they had been installed backwards. The steering has always felt insecure as well as the feeling when pressing the gas and the brakes. The feeling i have now under the pedals when the sound of the strut malfunctioning engages i have felt all along but not this intensely. There may be an issue with the parts used as i have spoken to so many nissan owners who reported the same issue of steering and exhaust system issues on nissans.

We have a 2008 nissan versa and bought it with 6 miles on it. The car now has 60000 miles on it and there is white residue around the crankcase and back pressure in the motor. We have gone to the dealership and they say it needs a whole new engine. There is absolutely nothing we could have done to cause this issue. Nissan is not helping us very much so far, we were hoping you all could help out. Everyone we have talked to says it is a manufacturers defect.

Car completely died out and shut down in the middle of a major intersection at 35 miles per hour. On august 20 / 2008 the car repeated the same failure in traffic at 45 miles per hour. When started the vehicle it wants to choke up and stall, at least 20 times since the purchase of the vehicle on feb. 18 / 2008. I am terrified to drive the vehicle that i paid cash for now. The dealership of purchase are saying that they cant find the source of the problem and that they are no longer willing to correct these serious failures and issue. They are demanding that i pick up the vehicle and have not returned any of my calls. They have also denied me a loaner vehicle and i have been without my vehicle for almost 2 weeks now. I am seeking legal representation to this matter and have become very discouraged.

My husband and i was driving the highway and our 2008 nissan versa lost power. When we pulled over, my husband lifted the hood and found the dipstick had came out and oil was all over the engine.our car was towed to a local dealership.the next after nissan north america would not fix our car claiming it was our fault . We only had our car for 8 months and we brought it brand new! we had many heated arguments with the dealership and nissan north america. Then after 23 days after then they called me wanting to put a new engine in our car . I refused because i wanted a refund because we had to buy a 30 year old truck to get back and forth from work.

My versa has 7k miles and is 4 months old.i have been experiencing the long cranking time for about a month now.its intermittent but i do worry that it won't start, have to tap the gas to get it to start.

This car is a 2008. Kept in fantastic condition. The muffler randomly broke off of the car. There is no rust on the underside of the car. The few months it was driven in the north it was washed free of any salt. After researching this it seems to be an ongoing problem with this make and model of car. It was a clean break. Hopefully can be welded back together, but this break is certainly due to the cheap material it is made out of. Nissan should recall these parts. This is affecting alot of nissan versa owners around the same exact mileage frame.

I own a 2008 nissan versa. Recently started having problems with losing power after a long period of driving. The problem started after driving for approximately two hours, the car wouldlose power and only go about 20 mph. If accelerator was pressed, the car would stall out completely. After two visits to nissan dealers, they stated they could not find any problems. I am afraid to take this car on any extended trips due to this problem. I bought this car for the gas mileage...now having to take another vehicle for safety.

Vehicle started taking long crank times, multiple cranks to start engine.informed dealer of problem and that prior models of versa had similar problems.dealer says this vehicle manufactured after date other problems were fixed.obviously not since this problem persists in models manufactured after previous bulletin date.concerned that one day vehicle will not start and leave me stranded.long crank times not dependent on weather, temperature or level of fuel in tank.

Water pump failed.

2008 nissan versa; purchased new. Currently under 2,000 miles on odometer.extremely long crank times before engine turns over.vehicle brought back to dealership for warranty service to correct problem.after keeping vehicle for a day dealership informed that they "could not duplicate the problem" and couldn't/wouldn't attempt to fix or diagnose problem.5 to 10 second crank times without vehicle starting up - on a daily basis - is a serious concern.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa.the contact stated that there was a very loud rattling sound in the slack of the engine.he stated that it was a valve train noise.the noise can be heard at 1,900 rpm and when the vehicle is in neutral.the contact has notified the manufacturer about the engine noise.the failure mileage was 432.

We too had a problem with our 2008 versa. We had an engine light come on and so we immediately took it in at 22,000 miles.they said we hadno oil changes except one.we argued the point and got no where.they stated we had no oil.we said where did it go -- they didn't know!talked to the manager and got nowhere at buckeye nissan.he promised to talk to corporate and we got nowhere again.that was clear back in march of 2010.so much for warranties.they wanted to put in a new engine at $4,500 on a 2 year old car.i'll never buy another nissan nor work with a company that doesn't stand behind its product. We have had other cars in which they have always had their oil changes and retired these cars at 200,000+ miles. We presently have a 1999 dodge ram and it has 283,000+miles and still running.and....they said "we don't know how to maintain our vehicles." our second-hand ford explorer suv had 243,000 when we sold it.and our other dodge which was retired to the junk yard had close to 220,000 miles.our old vehicles usually had transmissions go out and that is the reason we went with the versa because of the history on their transmission. When we had it in for the engine light, their story changed 3 times on what the problem was and finally ended up with the engine. No big deal -- only $4,500 on a vehicle less than 2 years old. Now i'm driving a vehicle that drives worse than any of our 15 year old cars ever did, oil needing changed constantly, dip stick coming out on occasion and spraying oil everywhere, and now stalling out!.when air-conditioner is run -- puts a film on window which fogs up. What next.so much for our first new car in years and driving our grandchildren around safely for school.i have never been so disappointed nor upset with a company as i have with this company and standing behind their warranties.and even more so with no response back. I don't think the manager even checked with corporate!

2008 nissan versa-when started after being shut off and idle for anywhere from 1 hr or 24 hours, engine cranks but does not turn over immediately.sometimes cranks for 10 seconds.ignition needs to be turned two or three times before it will start up.vehicle has about 2200 miles on it.

I have had this car for less than one week. The mileage is currently at about 275 miles. When i turn the key in the ignition, the car doesn't start until i hold the key turned for at least 5 seconds. This is very frustrating because it seems as if it will not start.this happens daily, whether it is hot or cold outside. It is not contingent on the time of day either.

Car stopped working, lost power, oil leaking everywhere.

Every time i ride in the nissan versa it has a toxic effect on me. I get short of breath and have coughing attacks. This will last days after being in the vehicle. There has to be some toxic items in the car for it to have effects like this on me. It gets worse as time goes on.

Have had my nissan versa since 2009, got it with 50 miles on the car. Spent 2 years in florida with it without a problem and in the past year i've had so many issues with this car i'll never buy another nissan again. Have replaced all of the tires twice and today i was a mile from my home when my car had issues accelerating and starting making a loud rattling noise. I've come to find out that my muffler has broken at the flange. Apparently this is common with these nissans and nothing has been done to change it. This can cause carbon monoxide poisoning god forbid someone parks this car in their garage and could also cause an accident if the entire muffler rusts and falls out of someones car while their on the highway.

Muffler pipe broke by the flange - car only 4 years old, 60 000 miles(faulty design?)if the muffler ends up on the road on the highway, it can cause accidents.

The flanges on the middle exhaust at distal end and the muffler have completely oxidized. Major costs to repair both muffler and middle exhaust.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that the vehicles air conditioner failed to function. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that there was a hole in the low line hose and needed to be replaced along with the air conditioner compressor. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 15,242.

Fails to start unless cranked for a long time. Symptoms indicate a fuel pressure regulator problem or fuel pump failure. Nissan parts dept says there is no fuel pressure regulator.

Tried starting the car; engine would not turn over.was stranded in a parking lot close to my mechanic's shop and called him.mechanic sent his assistant to the parking lot where i was and he tried to get the car to turn over.he said he thought the engine was not getting fuel.car was towed to mechanic and it was determined that fuel pump was broken.mechanic had difficulty finding a replacement nissan fuel pump.fuel pump was obtained and installed at my expense.mechanic felt that fuel pump should not have had to be replaced on a 5 year old car.

My versa has had intermittent issues with starting, but in the past it always did.the main issue was that the engine was not getting fuel.yesterday it quit all together and i am informed that it needs to be replaced to the tune of $600.there is a technical service bulletin for this issue, but nissan says i have to pay for it.

Sometimes the car will start the first time the starter is engaged. Sometimes it just cranks and cranks. It has never completely failed to start, just sometimes it won't on the first or second try. Happens at least once a day like this.

Needs new fuel pump just three days in. Never had problem with versa ever and then it all of a sudden left me on road. Three top mechanics are confused why my 2008 already needs a fuel pump. They said that it should not be broken and the part is only available to order because it shouldn't even be broken three years in. I took it to the nissan dealer first and they said i would need to replace fuel pump and they declined to mention why or how it could happened. They seem like they know something and wont share.

The engine is very difficult to start on the first attempt. My 2008 nissan versa hatchback has about 20000 km on it an has had the fuel pump replaced once already under warranty by the dealer about one year ago.now i am encountering the same problem again. If you leave the ignition turned on for 15 to 30 seconds then the car will start.i suspect the fuel pump has a problem building up sufficient pressure to deliver fuel to the car and that is why it will start on a second attempt.

My 2008 nissan versa abruptly slows from 60 mph to 30 mph and gradually slows to a stop. This only occurs after i have driven between 70 to 150 miles. It has happened 3 times. Nissan has replaced the transmission and the fuel pump but the car still fails and i am afraid to drive it on an interstate.

Engine will not start on first attempt....just dry cranking. On the second try, it usually starts. My 2008 versa only has 2,300 miles. The problem is getting worse with each day. I have read reports that replacing the fuel pump solves the problem temporarily, but often times people have had multiple fuel pumps replaced after very short periods of time. Nissan needs to fix this!!!

After vehicle runs for a while, then left to sit for about 1-1/2 hours, starting the vehicle becomes difficult. Long crank time.took to dealer where purchased.was told by nissan vehicle did not apply to tsb ntb-07-094.nissan technical support told technician to measure fuel drop after running vehicle, then let sit for 30 minutes.measure the fuel pressure. If less then 30 psi, replace the fuel pump and packing.fuel pressure measured at 12 psi.ordered parts, but packing is on backorder.

I have a 2008 versa that is repeatedly having issues starting. I have had everything checked and it seems to be the fuel pump. I am afraid i will end up stranded in the middle of nowhere when it finally goes out since i am having to turn the key for a few seconds before i can start the car and that is if i can even get it to start. It sometimes makes me run of gas even though i had plenty of gas in the car when i originally tried to start it. Since i normally have to drive a distance, this is going to leave me stranded one day and i am not sure if i like having to pay to have it replaced when i see that there are other people with the same issue with the same car.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph or above, the vehicle would suddenly stall without any warning. I own a nissan versa 2008 hatchback. After i pull away from the gas pump, the car was losing its acceleration and then stall. I was trying to start again but it wouldn't turn over. The car was towed.i was told that the fuel pump went bad. My basic warranty expired two months ago (december 5, 2010). The fuel pump was recplaced at my expenses.*ln

My car is almost five years old.i have had minor problems with it. My car had been stalling to start.i took it to get checked out.i am told my fuel pump needs to be replaced.my car is not under warranty anymore.i did research and found out this is a common problem for my car, and i am unlucky to have encountered it after my warranty was up.it was suggested to me to file an official complaint.

Exhaust system has been diagnosed with 2 separate failures requiring a weld job in order to repair. I have completed one at the cost of $200 and the second weld estimate is priced at $200. Both instances came on suddenly and without other warning. Exhaust smell occurs when car first starts and disapates after driving several miles. Each occurred at separate times. Both front ball joints have been noted by my mechanic as being looser and indicates needing replacement in the near future in order to avoid potentially fatal collision or significant additional damage to transmission, steering, etc., systems.

I tried starting my vehicle and it would not start. I had to try it multiple times and eventually after about 8 tries it did. This occurred for the first in june 2012 but i thought nothing would be wrong with a car that is was only about 4 years old. After it occurred a couple more times in the next few months, i brought it in to be tested at a nissan dealership and they tested it and found nothing was wrong. The issue continued again in february 2013 and i brought it in to be tested again. This time it was determined the fuel pressure regulator needed to be replaced. I found information stating that nissan new this was an issue with the make and model of my vehicle but did nothing to inform me of the problem, the service bulletin is dated september 18, 2009. I purchased my vehicle new on april 24, 2008 but nissan made not attempt to notify me of the possible faulty part they had installed. A recall of the part should have been done to replace the part that they knew was defective. Especially when the vehicle was under warranty and now that this part is out of warranty leaving me to pay for it. I very much liked my nissan but after being treated like this, i don't see myself ever getting another one after the horrible treatment i received.

Exhaust flange rusted outthe muffler flange rotted out. Looked under the car, the entire exhaust system is rotting out. Versas have weak exhaust that do not withstand harsh conditions such as winters.

Pulled up to a stop light and the car died.no fuel.pump died.

While driving, the car chocked and stopped. Had to leave vehicle in current lane and to call tow company. It appeared that the fuel pump died. The fuel pump was changed.

While sitting in the yard we heard a metal clang sound coming from one of the cars. We looked but could not tell which car it came from. Later when i started to drive the car on the highway the front passenger tire shredded. This was due to the front passenger side spring being broken. We later found the broken piece where the car was parked. The vehicle only had 48,684 mostly highway miles on it.

Replaced the continuously variable transmission on 09/13/2011 at 92524 miles. Approximately 2 weeks later my daughter was driving vehicle and the car stalled. There were 3 recalls on my 2008 nissan versa. Two were for airbags and 1 was for front coils/springs. I was given a loaner vehicle until parts were available to perform the repairs. Nissan had me drive my vehicle in to get serviced, knowing that it was a hazard to my life. On the way to get my vehicle serviced one could hear a loud pop, the vehicle was no longer operational and was at then engulfed in flames.

Manual transmission vehicle.clutch pedal linkage broke from clutch throw rod under the dash.there is a plastic component that connects the pedal to the linkage and is only held by a ball/socket compression fit.after failure, clutch cannot be engaged and car will be completely inoperable.

Tl- the contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated while driving 60 mph failed to accelerate. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but was informed by the dealer that putting it on a computer would be a waste of time and advised her to place the vehicle in refuse. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis but no cause for failure was found and the transmission fluid was changed. The vehicle was repaired. Six months later the failure recurred. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileage was 130,000. Dt

There has been a problem found in some versa sls with manual transmissions, relating to the cruise control system.it has been found that on hot days, this switch may move, and cause the hydraulic clutch to disengage prematurely. This problem can be dangerous if it occurs in a remote area or on a heavily trafficked road. This problem will severely compromise your vehicles ability to move, and your car may end up disabled or possibly with a burned out clutch if you ignore it. There seems to be a growing trend with clutch problems in nissan versa's ranging from mileage of 168 and up.nissan fails to recognize the problem.

The continuously variable transmissions on nissans are unsafe. For a couple of weeks, our nissan versa would briefly lose power when we stepped on the gas pedal, but it only happened occasionally and temporarily. Then on july 15, it got much worse. We could barely drive the car because it would constantly lose power. The problem started when we started the car and continued as we were trying to drive the car a couple of blocks on the city streets. I am thankful that we were not on a highway when this happened because we would have caused a terrible accident. We learned later that it was the transmission and the car was trying to start in a high gear instead of a low gear.our 2008 nissan versa is 6 weeks past the extended warranty on the continuously variable transmission. Despite the fact that we are below the mileage requirement of the warranty and despite the fact that the transmission has likely been giving us problems for years, nissan will not honor the warranty.i believe nissan should be ordering a recall on the cvt technology, especially for the older models. They know the technology is flawed and unsafe, that's why they created an extended warranty. But if you're just out of that warranty period, they won't help you out as a consumer. If they publicized the cvt problem and ordered a recall, they would prevent having unsafe cars on the road.

1st...after 25k miles the car began to shift on its own irregularly, finally at 45k it was noticed that the cvt was not working properly. It was replaced under warranty, even though it was covered it actually cost me 1,800 for an extended warranty. Second problem was a thumping noise as i went over a bump in the front end that was diagnosed as damaged struts and the sub frame links, this was not covered by warranty, and we are stuck with this ongoing faulty problem. It is greater than 4,000 to fix.

Cvt transmission is making a metal rubbing noise when in drive and idling.nissan dealer confirmed the transmission must be replaced and eventually the car will no longer accelerate due to cvt failure.

I had trouble shifting car into park. Dash indicator said it was in park . Then i could not remove the ignition key. I then wiggled the key it came out. As i was getting out of the car it started to roll down hill. Brought to my local service station and they had found the shifter to have a broken piece of plastic in it.

This car was brought into the shop with 120,807 miles and the complaint was it would not go. Many transmission codes found and transmission fluid very black in color. Had to replace the transmission do to the fact that no one will rebuild this cvt transmission. A good designed transmission should last longer than 121,000 miles with what they cost.

Front axles "click" when making turns.cvt transmission cuts out or stalls when making turns and/or accelerating from a stop.occurrence is 3-5 x weekly.i have taken this vehicle in for service 9-10 times.they have replaced the front axles and transmission with no improvement.

Cvt transmission problems (2nd time at 40,000).

Nissan 2008 versa while driving on freeway car started to lose power ,then shut off,car just came back from dealer not for this problem ,but for lose of power in while driving a upgrade hill this car is on second replacement transmission notified nissan corporate office no answer.

Driver side restraint. No resistance on sudden stop. Manufacturer was informed and they did not a thing to correct the problem. Also the dealer has not done anything. Iam afraid that some day i may be propelled through the windshield.

Front seats backs not holding in place.pushing the chair trying to get something out of pocket, the back slips back.the other day hit in back of car and the seat collapsed into the back seat.

My daughter was killed in a car wreck 10/3/11. She swerved to miss a deer, over corrected and the car slid into the opposite lane of traffic where she was hit on the passenger side of her car. She had her seat belt on but the back of her seat broke and she was thrown into the back seat and she was killed instantly. The other driver just had a sprained ankle and a few minor cuts & bruises.the officer who came to my door told me this should not have been a fatality accident!

While i was driving on the 10 freeway headed east near downtown los angeles, my car's brakes suddenly did not respond, causing me to hit the car in front of me. Before the incident the car's brakes worked fine and after the incident they functioned normally. I tried multiple ways to get the brakes to "bite" but always got a dead pedal and never got the car to stop until i hit the car in front of me at around 20 mph. This car has some flaws on it that should be looked at including the brake pedal, which does not respond very well to driver input, the lazy transmission, which hesitates too much and dealers refuse to fix, the ignition/starter, the flimsy body that looks like it was made out of the same material as toys and its axles that can't stand extensive city driving.

On january 26, 2015, i was traveling on the highway to take my daughter to school when a driver at least 2 car distances in front of me came to an abrupt stop which caused me to put on my brakes so that i will have enough time to stop at a good enough distance so that i do not hit them. However, after doing so my car kept sliding and i was unable to do anything and the car still hit the driver in front of me. We all left the scene in an ambulance. I do not know the status of the other driver, but i am suffering from severe back pain, some neck pain and i have headaches. This issue needs to be checked before someone ends of dying. I am glad that no one was killed in this accident.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake light switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Cold weather causes brake pedal to lock. Like someone put a cement block under the pedal, it will not push down and brakes do not engage. Must push hard to unlock and pump a few times to have brakes work. Car was in motion first time this happened and stationary the second time.

I was driving a 2008 nissan versa hatchback [xxx]at 50mph in a 50mph zone in the left lane of a two-lane westbound street at 5:03pm on a day in september, 2009 when a car in front of me came to a complete stop in order to make a left hand turn (where there was no turn pocket). I did not notice that the vehicle was stationary until it was too late - i hit the brakes as hard as i could.the vehicle was equipped with anti-lock brakes, but i immediately went into a very straight, wheels-locked skid, decelerating to a speed of approximately 20mph at the moment of impact.the two occupants of the vehicle i hit were injured, at least one of them was hospitalized. My car was totaled since the repair estimate came in at the same amount as the loan payoff amount.the anti-lock brakes had worked well in two emergency stops earlier in the year.the accident left a 30+ foot long set of skid marks at the accident scene. The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa.

New car 10 miles - strong pulsation in the brakes, steering wheel shakes.car covered in sand - in the frame, over the gas tank, all over the engine.

Approximately one year before having the car part repaired, i noticed that when i turned the steering wheel hard to the left to make a tight turn i heard a creaking noise.i was not sure what it was and mentioned it to my mechanic when i brought the car in for an oil change.mechanic felt it was related to the axle.my husband noticed the noise when driving my car and brought it back to the mechanic.mechanic had to order a new nissan axle for the car.the cost of the part and the labor to replace it was at my expense.the mechanic said he was going to return the damaged part to nissan because he felt it was a defect in manufacturing because this part should not have to be replaced on a 5 year old car with such low mileage.

Clunking noises emitted from the front of the car when turning the steering wheel at slower speeds, such as when turning into a parking space. Vehicle was taken to dealership and diagnosed with excessive play between the wheel and tie rod end. Power steering rack was replaced. This occurred at 53,683 miles.

Clunk or popping noise coming for the front suspension or steering column.this can be heard and felt when driving at speeds less than 10 mph in combination with turning.

The intelligent key will not start the car, even when using the actual key and not the remote. The car beeps four times and displays a red car on the dash. When i put the key in the ignition, it will not turn.

2008 nissan versa, steering noise and klunking sound when turning right at slow speeds. I have read on the internet that many other versa owners have had the same problem. It seems like this should be a recall item by the nissan dealers.

Driving into parking lot, made left turn then loud "klunck" noise. Both wheels turned inward and saw that the driver's side steering rod was snapped in half. Experienced popping noises before but was informed by dealer that its just normal. Vehicle now getting repaired at dealership. Could have been disastrous had it happen on the freeway or in moving traffic area. Looking into possible legal action.

Steering wheel has a clunking feel and makes a clunking noise when the wheel is turns sharply to the left or right when stopped or at low speeds.i have mentioned this twice when i took the car to the dealers for oil changes and was told "that is just the way ste steering column feels".

Slowed to stop sign, abrupt stop as driver side wheel smashed into body of vehicle. Mechanic states sub-chassis completely rusted to pieces and cv joint disengaged wheel. Had the driver been traveling 50-70 mph someone would have been killed. This vehicle was purchased new from nissan of melbourne. Except for one summer weekend to georgia , vehicle has never left florida.

Vehicle has an increasingly loud clunking noise emanating from front suspension when turn is made or small bump/hole is moved over.sounds as if there is metal on metal and lose components in the suspension.this noise is not apparent at higher speeds and only is audible when going over a bump/pot hole.additionally, when vehicle turns, there is a noticeable 'klunk' in the steering assembly that is often exacerbated when going over a bump in the road.steering feels lose when this happens as if joint is malfunctioning.

We own a 2008 nissan versa.it currently only has 9,400 miles on it.when driving it there is a "popping" feel underneath the floorboards/ in the front end of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealership 2-26-09 where they replaced both upper strut bearings and completed a front wheel alignment.again, the vehicle exhibited the same issues and on august 5, 2009 both upper strut bearings were replaced and another alignment was completed.we took the vehicle to the dealership again yesterday with the same complaint.this time they say they can't "hear" it (you can't hear it, but you can feel it), so they didn't do anything.they refused to even put it up on the lift to take a look at the assembly since they couldn't "hear" anything.after doing research, we are seeing this same complaint on many different websites.nissan needs to fix these vehicles.one listed on this site was involved in an accident apparently due to the strut failure.

There's a constant noise at the steering wheel, i havent had an accident yet but i been reading comments that a lot of people its been having the same problem with the car. I'm not sure that in a short period of time something might happen to somebody.

The steering wheel has a clunk or pop that is both audible and felt in the wheel when making turns to the right at low speeds.at 10,000 miles i began hearing and feeling this clunk.at 18,000 miles i brought my vehicle to the dealer and they said they would have to replace the entire steering column and that it was a safety concern.the stopped the sound and the pop/clunk. 1000 miles later the sound started reappearing.i brought my vehicle to the dealer 5 times since and the dealer claims to not be able to hear the sound.i am aware of two technical service bulletins on this issue.i believe the part is systemic defective and unsafe.i believe this needs to be researched as a defect and requires a recall.

I filed a report on carcomplaints and they said i needed to file one here as well. While driving in direct sunlight, the glare from the dashboard reflects onto the windshield and it obstructs visibility. I've had the windshield replaced (factory glass was chipped and i got a new one), and the glare is still intense. No matter how dusty i let the dashboard get, the reflection is always there in direct sunlight (usually driving east or west). It's annoying, even though i deal with it because i love my car. Is there anything nissan can do?!?!??!?!?!?!? i really don't want to crash because i can't see through the reflection as well as one should.

Outer door handle on passenger side came off.dealer fixed it and i paid for repair.handle came odd 4 days later.i returned to dealer and was told a part needed to be replaced that is broken and the additional charge would be 350.00.i feel this should have been taken care of when i first went to dealer.i am requesting the handle be replaced by dealer no charge since it was not properly repaired when i first took it in.that part should have been replacedwhen they initially so fixed it.

I got off the holt exit off 10 east, a piece of plywood was in the middle of the road and hit the left side ofcar. My left side rim's are damaged.

There is a clunking noise coming from the front end, as one rolls over a speed bump at slow speed or enters a driveway. The noise began after 20,000 miles and has worsened ( now has 65,000). After nissan inspected the car it was noted the sub-frame links and struts with strut mount assembly are faulty. Nissan forums are full of complaints regarding the same problem.

Weld between the muffler pipe and flange failed. It wasn't a hole that rusted out but a clean failure at the weld.

Repair tech found on inspection that right front spring coil was broken.discovered that this was a problem with 2008-2010 nissan versa model and was under investigation for recall due to other incidents where damage to other parts of vehicle have occurred.

The car had been making a noise on the front driver side, i thought it was the brakes, when i left for work the car made a loud bang. I got it back home to find the front coil spring snapped.

I found a piece of a broken coil spring in my driveway (where multiple cars are parked) in nj.a quick visual inspection of all the vehicles typically parked near that area did not show any sitting uneven or any obvious evidence of any with problems.a few weeks later, after driving approx 1000 miles on my nissan, i noticed that the front suspension seemed shorter and quicker to bottom-out. This was obvious when rolling over speed humps. Another, more in-depth inspection of the front springs revealed an unseated spring on the left front.the spring appears to have slipped off or through the bottom cup and is not centered on the strut.after looking the vehicle up on nhtsa site this appears to be related to manufacturer recall numberpm565.the nj vehicle is currently in nc.i plan to take it to a nissan dealer to have the recall work performed.

Total failure of passenger side ball joint w/ separation of cv axel from transaxel resulting in wheel coming off the car. Occured during a low speed left hand turn on city street after stopping for traffic light. Passenger and driver side lower control arms replaced, driver's side as a precautionay measure. Related to nhtsa recall 15v-573 underbody corrosion.

The front driver's side coil spring broke. This is the 2nd time htis has happened on this vehicle.

Front passenger side spring snapped puncturing tire.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While driving approximately 40 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. The abnormal noise recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated while driving 35 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front coil spring was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called county line nissan north (522 winsted rd, torrington, ct 06790, (860) 482-5555) and was informed the contact that the vehicle would not be repaired without charge. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 158,000.

Coil spring on drivers side broke causing a shake and allowing the car to drag when it should not of been able to...updated 11/05/15 the consumer stated the vehicle did mot steer properly after coil spring failure. Updated 1/8/2015

The front coil spring suddenly broke.

Coil spring on front driver side, snapped while driving. Made a loud bang noise. Could have caused an accident if the spring had slipped off and stabbed the tire. Luckily the spring stayed on. It was a clean break no rust present. Metal seems very brittle.

I parked my nissan versa in a parking lot while i was at work all day.i hadn't had any problems with it.when i got in to leave in the evening and put the car in drive and went forward a few inches, i heard a horrible crunching noise like i hit something.when i backed up to see what was under my car, i just saw a metal horseshoe shaped broken piece on the ground.my mechanic says it is a coil spring that broke.i've seen many complaints about this from nissan versa owners.the broken part didn't seem rusty at all. I don't know why this happened.the car hasn't been in an accident.it seemed to happen out of the blue.the dealer stated the rear coil spring needs to be replaced.

I was concerned that something was wrong with the car. I was taking it to the garage when the coil spring broke. The jagged end rubbed against the tire causing it to blow out.

Front coil spring snapped.

In september 2013, i began hearing a rattling/squeaky sound in the vicinity of the front passenger side wheel well. The rattling sound is similar to metal bolts rolling around in a metal pan. The squeaky sound is similar to a spring mattress.approximately in december 2013, i received scheduled maintenance on my vehicle at nicks honda in burlingame, ca. The owner nick theroux informed me that my right shock needed to be changed because it "gone". The service inspection also determined a possible coil problem. As i researched the nissan suspension issue online, i learned that similar versa suspension issues exist nation wide.

While making a right turn their was a loud noise and a smell of rubber upon further inspection the passenger side coil spring broke expanding pass the lower plate and make contact with the tire.

While backing out of my driveway i heard a bang and the tire began rubbing on something. I pulled back in the driveway. I looked under and saw that the spring was broken. I am very lucky since i drive the interstate 376 everyday to work. If the spring had broken at speed i am sure there would have been damage to the car and a possible accident. The car is not drivable at this time.

I found a piece front the front of each coli spring laying in my driveway. I looked up the nhtsa website & found there is an investigation into this specific problem. Investigation no pe 15-019. I have the pieces & can send a picture of the fracture if you would like.

Backing out of the driveway heard a snap got out of the car and found a piece of the coil spring had broken off near the base of the spring.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that the rear coil springs fractured, while driving out of the driveway. Broken left front coil spring. Shop found it during routine maintenance and was told this could have caused serious damage if unnoticed.

Front right spring broke shredding a relatively new tire.we just turned on to a residential street, so fortunately we were going slow and no one was hurt.car was towed to a nearby sear's auto center where both front springs and struts were rebuilt and an alignment performed.plus new tire installed.incident issue was opened with nissan, but they refuse to accept responsibility for this frequently occurring poor quality issue...updated 08/12/15 updated 11/27/2015

Heavy metal sound (as when you drive over a loose manhole cover) comes from the front passenger side.inspection showed that the coil spring snapped clean -no rust.the snapped coil was not caused by hitting a pothole or other abnormal driving. Normal city & mostly highway driving.an independent and trusted mechanic stated metal fatigue and estimated the repair at $800 (both sides will be replaced). Parts range from $174 - $250 depending on the brand.i have not contacted nissan or the dealer to see if this might be covered out-of-warranty as a customer satisfaction basis.this is the second metal failure on the vehicle. Last year, the exhaust pipe just fell apart at the weld. Again, rust was not the cause.there are numerous reports of both issues in many places. Nissan canada (or dealers) seems to be more willing to repair the faults than us counterparts. There is only one recall (garmin) for the nissan versa.the coil spring is definitely a safety concern - a clean break on a coil spring is extremely sharp and can result in tire puncture. At high speeds this would be fatal.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While having the vehicle reparied according to nhtsa campaign number: 15v573000 (suspension), the contact was informed that the rear coil springs fractured and needed to be replaced. As a result of the rear coil spring fracture, the vehicle failed state inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,000.

I was driving on a small paved two lane highway at approximately 45 mph.i heard a loud noise and shortly after the tire blew out.this happened right before a small side road so i was able to turn onto that road so i wasn't on the highway.due to the flat tire and broken spring the car sat too low for the factory provided jack to fit under the car.i called my brother for assistance and he showed up with my nephew.they were able to lift up on the car just enough so that i could place the jack in the correct position.we put the factory donut spare tire on and i drove to warehouse tire...unfortunately they were just closing down for the day.i had four new tires installed the following tuesday and then took the car to my mechanic.i picked the car up on july 3rd.my mechanic informed that the drivers side coil spring was broken also.the drivers side spring had broken near the top;the passenger side spring broke closer to bottom which allowed it to spin out of place and slice the tire.

Not sure of exact timing (approx april 2015) when i brought my car in for a regular service appointment, i was told that when they put the car on the lift, one coil spring fell off in two pieces - i was so fortunate that this happened at the dealership and not on the road!i was told that if it had happened while i was driving, it could have been disastrous.i replaced both springs at that time.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While traveling 20 mph, the front tires performed roughly. It was diagnosed that the suspension was failing, but was not an immediate safety hazard. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

Thankfully i have not had an accident yet.however i am very concerned that both front coil springs are missing a chunk from the spring. This was discovered when i had my car in the shop for another issue on 6.12.15.i was informed at this time that with the chunks missing this could cause major issues if either of them pop out of their base.i had my car in for an oil change (at a neighbor's who is a mechanic) yesterday, 9.14.15.i informed him of what his referral guy said to me back in june, and after looking at my car he showed me exactly what the guy was talking about.he told me this was concerning, seeing as my car only has 77,000 miles on it.my rear suspension is acting up too, which may or may not be associated with this.i went to this site & noticed ironically that the front coil spring issues are under investigation at this point.i am trying to make a complaint considering i have one of these cars, which in my mind is no longer safe to drive.i fear, as others have had happen on here, that an accident may occur, with injuries to myself, anyone else in the car with me, or other passengers on the road.i am trying to be proactive on this, & am hoping something will be done to prevent any type of accident to occur again.nissan should take responsibility for this & fix these immediately at their cost.they should've never put faulty parts on their cars to begin with.these are people's lives possibly at risk.

The front passenger side coil spring fractured while the car was in motion. I had been driving about 0.1 miles after a left turn and was traveling at a low rate of speed when the coil fractured and a section of the coil punctured and tore the inner wall of the tire causing a sudden tire failure. The sound of the fracture was very loud metal on metal sound, drawing people out from nearby buildings. The car was towed to the local dealership where new front coil springs were installed, the front passenger tire replaced and a front end alignment was performed.

On 6/10/16 i was driving on the highway via my 2008 nissan versa when a loud noise occurred, unable to drive, both front tires blew out.car was shaking a bit uncontrollable.i contacted aaa, technician said both front tires blew out due to failure of spring coils and i could have been killed or killed someone due to this issue on the highway.dealer replaced front spring coils due to recall, but said i needed to buy two new tires and to put into nissan a reimbursement claim for the tires.i filed the claim with nissan on 6/17/16, to date no response and it is 7/5/16 - no phone calls, no response from nissan.my two tires were damaged and destroyed by nissan's failure/defective equipment.i had to pay approx $300 for two new tires.i have contacted my credit card company to dispute the transaction as i acted in good faith - nissan does not act in good faith not as of 7/5/16.this is a major safety hazard - i could have been killed or caused an accident due to nissan's failure - more should be done if tires are punctured like that - i did not create or cause this, nissan did - be responsible nissan!!

When going 75 miles an hour the right side front coil spring broke with a very loud noise pulled over to investigate found nothing looking at the tire. This happened just entering arizona so since we couldn't see anything we continued on to pheonix to our destination. We then contacted http://www.honest1glendaleaz.com/ and had them investigate the problem because when going over any bump after that we could hear something loose. Once they looked at it they quickly found the right front coil spring broke and the strut bent. They said the coil broke at the bottom lucky for us nothing flew out to blow the tire when it happened. The car has very low miles and should not have had this happen!

While reversing out of my parking space at home the front drivers side dropped and i heard a loud noise.after inspection i found a piece of coil spring on the ground where i had been parked.the piece that broke was about 4" long and it appears to have broken before as both ends were jagged one break rusty and the other break was clean.checking online this appears to be a common problem and often shreds the wheel when it happens.if this happens at speed it could be a very dangerous situation.

As i was entering an on ramp to 676 east in philadelphia, pa, i heard a crunch (metal on metal) in my front passenger side .i attempted to straighten out my car after the slight right turn and my right tire was not reacting to my turning of the steering wheel.i hit the brake a bit and tried to slow the car when my car started to fish tail.at this instance i gave the vehicle some gas to try and regain control of the vehicle, but i was already in a spin that caused me to completely lose control and i attempted to gain control, but i was unsuccessful.as the car spun past 360 degrees, i went over an island and came to an abrupt stop once i took out the stop sign on this island.luckily no body was hurt and i managed to not hit any vehicles or pedestrians.after several hours waiting for a two truck and philadelphia police, the vehicle and myself made our way to a body shop in lansdale, pa.after examination from the mechanics at this body shop (j.l. Freed) i was told that the strut assembly in my front right passenger side was in 3 pieces.this was evident to me that something mechanically went wrong as i was making that slight right on the evening of july 23, 2008.now, i was given my estimate for the damages and the parts that need to ordered and replaced.i feel that nissan needs to be made aware of this event as i was just at a nissan dealer (montgomeryville nissan) 3 weeks prior (july 05, 2008) to have my car inspected.i have yet to find out if montgomeryville nissan saw any type of potential failure in this specific strut assembly that malfunctioned and split apart causing my accident.nissan needs to be aware of this incident as this could have resulted in a fatality of myself or another if i was say on the highway this strut assembly decided to fall apart.

My daughterwas backing out of the garage and as she was doing that the drivers front suspension collapsed, upon inspection it was found that the coil spring had cracked and separated. Nissan case number- 14429298. Nissan usa said to us on 05/19/2014 that since the car was out of warranty they had no responsibility for the collapse.

My car began to shimmy when stopping and i brought it to a mechanic who said the coil spring on the driver's side was broken and that they would be best replaced in pairs as the other side would not be long before it also broke causing a possible tragic accident. He advised me not to go far with the car before repairing them as a fatal accident could occur. At the bare minimum, the coil spring would go through my new tire and cause even more extensive damage to the car. My son owns a versa as does my former husband and they both have had to replace their coil springs. I feel there must be some type of defect in this product. It seems far too coincidental. There have been 93 other reports as well. Nissan should issuue a recall immediately.

2008 nissan versa.consumer writes in regards to front coil spring and struts damages due to corrosion.consumer seeks reimbursement for front coil springs recall repairs. The consumer stated the coil springs were on recall, but the parts were unavailable. Both of the front coil springs and struts broke due to corrosion. The consumer had the vehicle repaired at a local repair shop. Since the parts used to repair the vehicle were not replaced with nissan parts, the recall could not be closed. Therefore, the consumer could not be reimbursed. The manufacturer suggested having the parts replaced with nissan parts. Doing this, the consumer would have to incur the expenses of the struts being replaced since, they need to be replaced in order to replace the springs.updated 08/23/2017

I was rotating my tires when i found that my driver side front coil spring was broken into two parts. Both parts were still attached and i have them. It looks exactly like all the rest of the other complaints for this car as shown in this link. Http://www.leftlanenews.com/nhtsa-investigates-nissan-versa-over-broken-coil-springs-88526.html

Regarding recall: nhtsa 15v-573 for front coil springs.i received notice that my vehicle is covered under this recall for front coil springs.however, prior to the recall going into effect, i had already had my coil springs replaced on this vehicle due to them cracking.i have contacted nissan for reimbursement of the cost of the work i already paid for to replace the springs.total cost to me was $635.68 from my local mechanic, bruces automotive in east aurora, ny.i submitted a statement from bruces that indicates the coil springs were replaced and paid for by me (attached).i submitted this information to nissan, they informed me that i need to take my vehicle to a nissan dealer to have them replace the coil springs.when i told them that this does not make any sense because the original factor springs have already been replaced and that nissan is no longer responsible for the springs in my versa, they told me i needed to do it anyway.to me, this is a waste of my time.i simply want them to reimburse me the $635 i already spent prior to the recall to have the springs replaced.if the springs in my car brake again, this is my responsibility, not nissan.i only want to get reimbursed the money i already spent.

I have had 3 recalls on my nissan since 2015. It has been 2years and all 3 are still unresolved. When contacting nissan, the response is - to await the invitation to the dealership.driving this vehicle is unsafe and yet i have to risk my well-beingevery day to get around.

She drove away and came back after driving 1/2 mile. She had the broken piece from the coil spring. I knew instantly what it was.i looked behind the front wheel and sure enough. I'm an old farm boy, now 57.i guarantee you this is a faulty part.she could have been hurt badly while driving road speed.you need to deal with this.i will keep the broken part as proof.it was a clean break while sitting still.this faulty part is costing upwards of $900 to repair!!!:(:(not to mention putting people at very high risk.others all across the usa and canada are having this issue.check out the forums.concerned and disgusted father.

While pulling out of my driveway the other day, i heard a very loud "metal on metal" sound coming from the front of my car, followed by a noticeable lowering of the front of the vehicle.i got out of the car and found a piece of metal on the driveway in the shape of semi-circle and snapped on one end.afterwards i noticed the car would bottom out on entering/exiting driveways and taking minor road imperfections and potholes very hard.went to my mechanic, showed him the piece of metal i found and explained what had been happening since then, and he said your spring coil broke.upon reading all the suspension complaints for the versa for similar model years, this has to be either a defective part or design on nissan's part.i have never had a car that experienced a broken spring coil.i would not expect a car slightly over 5 years old to have this happen.does nissan intend on addressing this issue?

The lower front control armon the driver's side which holds the front wheel on the frame broke in the middle of the part letting the front wheel loose from the car.a small portion of metal that did not break held the tire on. The vehicle was stopped before an accident happened.the person driving was on a main road in a major u.s., city. The front tire had rubbed against the front plastic bumper and actually pealed some of it off.the lower control arm has been replaced on this vehicle and is in my possession. The replacement was done by a mechanic. The mechanic claims it is a nissan part.

My wife was driving her 2008 nissan versa and was about to get on the ramp to get on the highway when the spring on the passenger side in the front broke and punctured the tire. She was able to get to the shoulder. We had it towed and had a very expensive repair.

The coil spring on the passenger side front broke almost spearing my tire as i was about to back out of my garage. This vehicle sits in a garage all year round and is used daily. Luckily i did not make it out of my driveway or i may have gotten hurt at 65 mph or worse gotten someone else hurt because of this manufactures defect.

Driving down the road we heard a loud bang, then the car darted hard to the left. Couldn't go over 15 mph without loud scrape and hard pull to left. Garage said coil spring broke in half and almost punctured tire. No rust on the spring, mechanic said it was a defective part.

The front left driver's side of my 2008 nissan versa hatchback started to thud/thump when turning to the right at low speed.now the vehicle cannot not turn right quickly, thus i could not avoid an accident in an emergency situation.i have taken to dealer and they cannot reproduce the symptoms, but i encounter daily.

March 2012 - tire sensor light went off; one sensor replaced. December 2012 - tire sensor light went off, and local tire shop said their diagnostic said sensors ok but that i should go to dealer. March 2013 - dealer's diagnostic said both rear sensors bad, but local tire shop's diagnostic machines said only one sensor bad (april 2013). One sensor replaced. April 2013 - tire sensor light went off, and same tire chain said sensors working as per their diagnostic machine. April 2013 - sensors relearned, but light went off within 1 day.

Tire pressure light comes on intermittently when driving on the highway at 60 mph or above. Tire pressure has been checked and is always correct at 32 psi. Happens constantly. Took car to dealer, they can find no error codes in computer. They reset it manually, took a rode trip 2 days later and the light came on again. It will stay on until i get off the highway, or will flash on and off and then go back off again.

Tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) light keeps coming on even though tires have correct air pressure.

Low tire light keeps coming on.i have had it turned of by nissan several times. I check the air pressure regularly so i know the tire pressure is not low.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa.the contact stated the tire pressure monitoring system was sending an improper message to the computer, indicating that the rear driver side tire was low.the tire was not low in air so the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer advised that the tire pressure monitoring system had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced.the contact did not have the tire pressure monitoring system replaced.the failure mileage was 57,000. The vin was not available.

Air bag indicator lights flashing in red tire inflator light stays on

There were 3 recalls on my 2008 nissan versa. Two were for airbags and 1 was for front coils/springs. I was given a loaner vehicle until parts were available to perform the repairs. Nissan had me drive my vehicle in to get serviced, knowing that it was a hazard to my life. On the way to get my vehicle serviced one could hear a loud pop, the vehicle was no longer operational and was at then engulfed in flames.

I purchased this car cpo and the air conditioner has never blown cold air. It blows according to the controls, but the air is never cold. Every summer i have to have it serviced. I've been told that several things have been wrong with it or cause that. Sometimes i'm told it's something new, and i've been told that something that has been repaired in the past is again/still wrong with it, causing this. I've repeatedly had it serviced once a year (usually in summer) since purchased. I've had it charged, freon, hoses repaired, etc. My concern is that this is a major fault in this car for its model year. There are many nissan versa drivers for years 2008 and 09 in many nissan driver online forums complaining of the same thing. I'm convinced this is a manufacturer defect and i do not want to pay for service again this year, although the a/c still definitely doesn't blow cold air at the moment. I think these models should be recalled.

Vehicle is under 100,000 miles and the cvt transmission is out! i was at the grocery store and when i got back to my car it flat out did not start no issues or warning prior to it not starting. I was stranded at night with no transportation.

Exhaust is leaking into the cabin of the car from several places. The muffler was replaced in 2010 after the flange broke, not rusted apart. The estimated repair is over $2000.00 this car has 156k miles on it but has been driven mainly in the southern part of the usa and there is no visible rust on the pipe at all.

Various parts of the muffler system have broken on this vehicle. The initial break was in 10-2014, and was the where the muffler assembly ex and gasket exhaust was replaced at 91,671 miles, and now 10-2015, the middle exhaust has to be replaced at 108,090 miles.

Car went onto bar ditch and travel along the highway in a straight line for over a quarter of mile at 69 mph before hitting a tree! there were no signs of over correcting or braking! witness stated he saw no brake lights from the car before hitting the tree. The passenger occupational safety restraint system failed causing blunt force trauma injuries resulting in the death of my father hitting the windshield! the shoulder seatbelt webbing failed to retract and was extended all the way out and became lodged in the d-ring! my brother, which was driving stated he remembers driving down the highway and the side curtian airbag hitting him in the upper left temple of head! the wreck is believed to be caused in failer of airbags and brakes!

The gas gauge does not show the correct gas level after filling up gas tank. Every day i start the car the gas gauge will not move, so i restart the car and then the gas gauge will move but i'm not sure if it is correctly showing the correct gas level.

Was backing out of driveway, heard a loud snap and metal hitting pavement. Got out and a part of the spring coil had snapped in half.

After stopping, car failed to accelerate even though the pedal was pushed all the way to the floor. This is a major safety issue and may cause serious bodily injury if not addressed immediately!!!!

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact recently had her vehicle repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v449000 (air bags). Afterwards, while driving, the vehicle shook and was difficult to steer. The contact had to use excessive force to steer the vehicle. The vehicle also failed to accelerate to highway speeds as if it remained in second gear. Russ darrow nissan (121 w. Metro auto mall, milwaukee, wi 53224, 414-586-3050) was contacted, but was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened case number: [xxx]. The failure has not been resolved. The approximate failure mileage was 78,751. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Parked 2008 nissan versa hatchback in front of my condo at night.in morning crack found starting from bottom of windshield on driver's side going up about 2 inches and then across bottom of windshield.car is out of warranty buy i have extended warranty.dealer refused to address it when dropped it off for service.

My 2008 versa hatchback has two very long cracks in the original factory windshield.both cracks originate at the edge of the windshield, with no rock scar or damage of any sort.appears to be stress crack or massive defect in glass workmanship.both cracks appeared while the vehicle was parked for hours.according to dealer, this is not covered by warranty.big shock there.

My 2008 nissan versa hatchback windshield on the passenger side of the vehicle cracked while sitting overnight in the driveway.the crack originates from the bottom of the windshield on the passenger side, travels upwards about 3 inches and then travels across the windshield towards the driver for 10 inches and then back down to the bottom of the windshield.there are no stone chips or visible defect at the crack initiation sites.needless to say the dealer informed me it is not covered under warranty.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated he noticed a hairline fracture in the front windshield of the vehicle. A few hours later, the contact noticed the fracture had spread across the windshield and up to the roof. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate current and failure mileages were 37,000.

I was driving down the road when suddenly one of my hub caps came off. Next week, i was driving again and my other hub cap on the same side came off. This cannot be a coincidence. I know several people who have nissan versa's and they also are having the same issue.

Hubcaps fly off. Many complaints on internet forums. I see a lot of versas on the street missing hubcaps.

I got off the holt exit off 10 east, a piece of plywood was in the middle of the road and hit the left side ofcar. My left side rim's are damaged.

Front coil spring fell out from under the car as i was pulling out of a parking spot. If i was going any faster it could have been very dangerous if it punctured a wheel.

Wheel covers on the 2008 nissan versa do not ever seat properly on the oem rims causing the wheel covers to fly off the rim when driving 50+mph.

I was pulling into a parking spot and i heard a loud snapping noise from the front left of the car.i was able to drive the car home as nothing appeared to be broken.when i took the wheel off i noticed the spring had snapped and was rubbing against my tire.i will have to replace my tire because it rubbed off a significant amount of rubber.i am lucky the tire didn't blow while i was driving.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. While making a left turn into the driveway, the front driver side wheel detached and became lodged in the tire well. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

2008 nissan versa hubcaps has flown away while cruising in highway at 60-65 mph. This happened twice already. The first time it happened i brought the car to service center and they checked the installation and everything looked ok. Bought new hubcap and it happened again after ~4 months. This is potential to cause serious damage and danger to other vehicles.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa. The contact stated that the front driver's side valve stem failed due to defective material. The contact became aware of the valve stem failure while replacing the tire. The valve stem was not replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. 2008 nissan versa back passenger hub cap on tire has come off twice and i have notified dealer of this problem and they said they have not had any complaints on this. I have seen at least 5 other cars with missing hup cap and i do see this as a problem. The dealer wants me to keep purchasing hub caps.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan versa.the contact stated that the hubcaps were only removed by the dealer when the tires were rotated.while driving 70 mph, the rear driver's side hubcap came off.he approached the dealer for assistance and they refused to replace the tire; therefore, the contact replaced it at his own expense.the dealer once again rotated the tires and the front passenger side hubcap came off.the dealer once again refused to assist him.the contact wrote letters to the dealer, but they would not assist, including the manufacturer.the dealer later offered him one hubcap as compensation.the current mileage was 24,251 and failure mileage was approximately 12,500.
