2008 nissan titan, the airbag red air bag warning light started to illuminate on the highway. After further investigation it was found that the crash zone sensor p/n 98581-zt08a was defective do to corrosion and defective sealing of the internal electronics of the sensor (see attachment).to abruptly loose the vehicle'sairbag function is a safety hazard (on the highway without warning) and should be recalled.

Air bag light on all the time, dealer state nothing wrong with air bag.

The titan was traveling straight on city street and hit another vehicle making a left turn across intersection.impact was at approximately 45 mph and both vehicles sustained heavy damage.driver airbag did not deploy, but there was white smoke and smell of gun powder inside the truck just after collision.no visual signs of any airbags deployed.no other verification, but seems possible a charge ignited but failed to inflate a bag or other failure.straight front impact at 45 seems like prime parameters to inflate bag.police report: 2/21/18 plano texas report# 2018-32397 pictures included to show damage from impact. Updated 10/1/18

The brake lights signal turns on and a light grinding noise can be heard and brakes go out.i have to stop for a few minutes and turn off my truck.after a few minutes, i turn on the truck and the brake lights turns off and my brakes start working again.this has happened more than twice.thank god that the times it has happen there has been hardly any traffic.although, one day it happened on the freeway so i calmed down, release the gas pedal and cruised to the next exit and pulled into a gas station.all this time the brake fluid reservoir is full so after turning off the truck and turning it back on again, that solves the problem.this is very scary because we've been trying to take vacations on the truck and i don't feel safe driving it like this, especially with my three kids in the back.another issue that i have is the airbag light just stays on and flashing.i've tried having it reset but it doesn't work.we have a 2007 nissan armada also and it has the same issues as my titan.we thought that by buying nissan we wouldn't have any issues, but we were wrong.

The wiring harness in the king cab version frays and sets off the airbag light.there is a recall on certain nissan titans, but they are before this model year.nissan obviously didn't change anything because i read about this all over the internet, yet no one can get the harness as part of a recall because it doesn't cover our model year.

Horn does not sound when pressing horn areas of the steering wheel.it will chirp with keyless entry.

2008 titan shift gear not responding, will not allow me to engage to lower gears (1-4). Stays on d only. The gear shifter button will not respond when the button is pressed. According to other titan owners it appears to be a wiring harness as they have indicated the same problem, the wire breaks due to not enough slack in the wiring harness. Nissan service center stated that they will not honor the transmission warranty since i have 64000k miles on the vehicle.

The nissan titan button on the shift lever that shifts manually, after manual shift is turned on, stopped working. This happened while i was pulling a trailer coming down from the mountains. This left my transmission in 4th gear and was not able to use the compression to help slow me down. I was able to get the truck back into normal automatic mode and i had to ride my breaks down the mountain to a flat area and swap vehicles to tow the trailer.after this incident i found that this issue is very common and is specifically caused by normal use of the vehicle. Meaning using the shift lever to pull the tuck out of park and back into park. This motion starts breaking the wiring on the controller. Nissan stated that there was nothing on record of this being a safety recall.

Takata inflators when turning the key it makes a faint click it does not start but when i try it again then it will start the truck is stationary.

Pulling a trailer when the abs & slip lights came on, then the service engine soon light came on. After getting to the camp site i looked under the truck and found that the wiring harness had burned and melted fusing several wires together.this caused me to have no electric brake control to my trailer. Also some fire damage to the under frame and other parts of vehicle...updated 10/01/14

The ipdm or intelligent power distribution module failed in a vehicle just over three years old, with 20,000 miles on it.this part was recalled in the 2004-2006 nissan titans.the failure of this part means that the vehicle does not start and must be towed to a dealership for repair.

Relay fuses(black) blows out during the summer months mainly. Everything stops.it gives a warning where truck misses or jerks.dashboard goes crazy.lights blink off and on.once fuses are replaced, it has to reset before it starts.it has been 2 years of these issues.replaced entire box, but it does the same thing. At cannon nissan, jackson, msparts dept. We were told they sell a lot of fuses for the same issue.

The mechanism that goes to the air conditioner remains on after the truck is shut off causing the battery to drain fast. It has left me stranded many times even after changing the battery. It happens every time the truck is shut off.

Crack/leaking driver side manifold.

Puchase from private party in february, nissan ran diagnostics immediately after purchase. Leak was not recorded. Accident happened in june, vehicle returned in september, approximately a week after pick up, coded leak in emulation system, manifold/exhaust causing fumes to back up into truck while stopped, extreme fuel consumption and lack of power, causing idle to idle low at stop. This developed after a sideswiped hit accident and transmission being replaced.left and right sensor also coded.

The exhaust manifold on my nissan titan cracked prior to reaching 95k miles. With the crack, exhaust fumes are making their way into the ac system causing the cab of my truck to become filled with carbon dioxide. I have done adamant research and determined that i can replace the manifold at a local shop, but that almost every titan owner out there has experienced cracked exhaust manifolds.

Exhaust leak at manifold on both sides of the engine. There is a significant crack in the manifold that is a defect and causes gases to escape into engine compartment and into the cab.

Manifold exhaust crack on both sides.

I have a leak in my exhaust manifold and at this time no fumes have come into cabin yet but do to so many problems of this type and when you replace them the manifold are cracked again.

While driving home the truck revved and lost power, i took my foot off the accelerator the truck regained power and i was able to slowly drive the truck home. It happened twice more on that same drive home. I took it down to the dealership where they told me it was the transmission. I explained it only had 22,000 miles on it and it has never been abused in anyway. There is no reason for the transmission to break. We use it mainly for the dogs to travel in and when guess are in town we have an extra vehicle run to the store and back. Honestly the truck does very little but show off the dogs when they get to go to the market and back. We call and talked with the nissan rep. Whose name is [xxx] who is our district manager, he simply told us that the warranty was no longer in effect and we were responsible for all expenses. I mentioned the unfairness of the situation, his response was i should have taken it into the dealer for all of its maintenance and service recommendations. When i mentioned that we had all the maintenance and services recommended done through our small business local mechanic who by the way has more certificates and experience than his nissan team he argued the fact. I shared how we will continue to support our local small business certified mechanic who pays for all of his expenses on his own to run his business unlike the nissan team who work under the umbrella of the nissan dealer, [xxx] again argued the fact. We have three nissan vehicles all of which we are now selling and will never purchase another nissan ever. Its a shame that nissan does not stand by there products. I also read where they extended the warranty for the transmission of the frontier because of a radiator leak that mix with the transmission, instead of a recall on the problem. Please people lets band together and boycott all nissan products. 22,000 miles seriously.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Lower transmission hose to radiator cracks and releases transmission fluid due to vibrations and being inadequately supported, causing sudden loss of transmission. 1st time it happened while driving on highway with 45000-50000 miles and required transmission replacement, second time at 90000 miles.

We just took our 2008 nissan titan into have oil changed we had just gotten the vehicle a couple days before and found out that the exhaust manifolds were cracked with only 66k miles on it!this truck is in excellent condition with no tow package and not used for hauling or heavy work.we had no idea this was a problem with the vehicles or we wouldn't have bought one.there are many people online complaining about this now that i have looked up the exact problem which i didn't know existed.please make this a recall.i have heard that "their fix" doesn't work and will crack again.

On the 2008 nissan titan there is a design flaw that may cause injury or death. The headlamps and turn signal are on the same switch. When signaling a turn the headlight position changes. When operating the vehicle at night this is especially dangerous as you will lose all exterior and interior lights. It is confusing to the operator of the vehicle as the operator must react rapidly to locate the switch and regain some idea of the location of the vehicle. In addition operators of oncoming vehicles may be confused by the headlights flashing on/off. The defect has other accident possibilities as the switch may have gone to the off position during daylight hours and the automatic switch would not operate as expected leaving a person traveling past the twilight hours with out road lights.

While vehicle was stationary the rear console which contains the rear interior lights fell down. Now the front overhead console is falling , not fallen all the way, but right side is already lose. It will not be long that the front will fall , when it does i hope it is stationary so that my wife, daughter or myself who ever is driving will not be hit by the falling console and possibly causing an accident harming my other daughter and son, or anyone else that could be in harms way, as a result of this poor quality plastic used making these consoles. I have contacted nissanusa about this and their response was they ' unfortunately they cannot do anything due to the vehicles mileage ' i bought this vehicle brand new and have taken very good care of it. I hope something can be done about this faulty plastic. When the front console falls it will leave my wife , daughter and myself in the dark, with no interior lighting!!!

Driving my 2008 nissan pro 4x king cab.fuel gauge read 1/8 tank and computer said i had 8 miles more fuel. Previously when it gave those numbers i had 4-5 gallons of fuel left.ran out of gas.fortunately i was not on the interstate doing 70 in rush hour traffic.would have been difficult to get to shoulder of an 8 lane highway.

Sending unit for my nissan titan failed, vehicle stopped. Was in traffic and became stranded for 1hr. I bought vehicle new and have only 20,000 miles. Was towed($95) and still under warranty. Spoke to a co-worker with the same vehicle, that had the same incident to occur.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact took the vehicle into the dealer for a recall related tothe fuel gauge system under campaign 10v07400. The contact was informed by the dealer that he must have driven over something because the fuel tank was pushed up under the vehicle.after some independent investigations, the contact noticed that the fuel injection was molded which caused thin spots on the fuel tank. The manufacturer did not agree with the assessments of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 46500.

In the beginning of the year i received a recall letter for my nissan titan concerning the fuel sending unit and a problem with the brake peddle.i called the dealer and was told that the parts were not in yet.i called again in the middle of june and was told that the parts have not been released by the manufacturer.i called nissan corporate and was told that i could take it to the dealer.the dealer laughed and said "you could bring it but it may sit here for six months or more".i have been told that the recall letter is all the manufacturer is required to do.is this true?where are the parts to fix the problem?is there some agency that makes sure that the manufacturer follows through on the recalls in a timely manner?

I bought my 2008 nissan titan 8/20/08, everything was great until odm hit about 3,000 miles. That's when my fuel gauge was inconsistent on it's readings and every time i pumped gas into my truck it would spill gas out. I took my truck into the nissan dealer i bought the truck from and they kept it for 3 1/2 hours when i went to pick it up they said they found no problems and i should change my gas grade. I told them i only put 91 in and to go to a lesser grade wouldn't make any sense. For the next few months i wiggled and repositioned the nozzle to help prevent the gas from spilling from the truck, most of the time this helps with less fuel coming out. I called them again and told them i am still having the same two problems they said again they hadn't found anything wrong but i could schedule another appointment. I told them i would go to another mechanic. I did and because the truck is still under warranty they said i needed to go to the dealership. After explaining to them what was happening they set up a meeting with another nissan dealership, where i learned that all 08 and 09 tiitans have numerous fuel problems. They did replace my fuel sensor and said with the gas spilling out while pumping i would have to pull the nozzle almost all the way out and hold the lever only a quarter of the way in to prevent the gas spilling out. I asked him why this was happening he said that the fuel system couldn't handle much gas per second because the way the fuel system was built it builds up to much pressure and in return gas spills out. I told him i would like it fixed and said there was no fix for it except to pull out the nozzle and lightly hold the lever.i told him i didn't feel that was safe for my family to be driving around in a vehicle that builds pressure in the fuel of all places he said my only other option was to get another vehicle.

After fueling my nissan titan to full the fuel gage only reads 3/4 tank.after about 10 minutes or so of driving the needle goes to full.

During cold weather (below 40 degrees) when refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge will initially show 3/4 tank and then slowly move up to full.it takes as much as 20 mins before the gauge will show the correct fuel amount.

2008 titan 4x4 se crew cab.fuel gauge not reporting correctly. Tank filled to full. Start the truck up it reads 3/4 full, drive 10 miles it slowly works up to full. There are several titan owners complaining about this with every model and year.here is a link from one forum:http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/64837-misleading-fuel-gauge.htmlplease assist.

My vehicle was recalled i believe in may 2010 for a faulty fuel sending unit. I brought it in to the dealer to be checked and also requested that they check the horn and backup alarm which were still under warranty and did not seem to work at all times. They checked it over and said they would order parts and i would need another appointment. When i brought it back they replaced a horn relay but nothing else. The service manager told me they would have to order the fuel unit and would call me when it came in. He said the backup alarm seemed fine. After about a month i called and asked if they had forgotten about me, and was told by the service manager that the sending units come from japan and are made as ordered so it could take a while. I thought this was strange since under the recall they should be stocking the part but i accepted his explanation.i may have called one more time to check the status but never heard back from the dealer. The gauge seemed to be working so i thought i would live with it. In january of 2013 my truck ran out of gas even though the gauge showed i was over one quarter full. I notified nissan of this incident and was contacted very quickly. The representative i spoke with should have been fixed and i should take the vehicle to the local nissan dealer. I informed him that i had more than once and the issue was never corrected so i did not feel i could go there and requested an independent mechanic resolve the issue. The representative told me it had to be replace by an authorized service provider but did offer to have another dealer take care of the problem.i spoke with the dealer but he was unable to provide the service. I contacted nissan and was then told the original dealer was going to take care of the issue. I have never heard back from either of them. Do i have a right to get this recall issue and the warranty issue resolved?

Nissan titan fuel line cover made from soy material. Rodent and small animals are attracted to the soy material and chew through the line, causing fuel fumes or fuel to leak. This is a potential fire hazard. Nissan refuse to acknowledge or fix the issue. After contacting nissan, nissan advises customers to replace part and cost themselves, part is replaced with same material causing the same problem. Part is not just a fuel line, it is a whole fuel tank system as line is connected to the tank system. Some nissan titan owners have had to replace the fuel tank system more than once, because of the same problem repeating itself. When taking the vehicle to nissan dealer for diagnostic treatment, nissan trained mechanics acknowledge issue and admit it is an on going problem. If the dealership know about this issue, why is nissan corporation not taking responsibility for a problem that is not a customers fault but an issue that started from the vehicle manufacture part at assembly, it is a nissan problem. This is not a vehicle usage problem, it is not a vehicle maintenance issue, it is a part/assembly issue by the nissan company. A simple online research for this issue has brought up numerous findings for nissan titan owners having the same issue. Vehicles carry static electricity, it takes one spark or stopping the vehicle over one carelessly discarded cigarette for any nissan titan to catch fire. Nissan should take concern into resolving this matter and protect their nissan drivers from driving basically a potential accident/death machine waiting to happen.

The contact own a 2008 nissan titan. The contact stated that there was a odor of exhaust fumes coming from the vehicle. In addition, the exhaust manifold was fractured. The vehicle was taken to be repaired but the failure recurred. The details of the repairs were unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 169,237.

I have had the door lock cable on driver and pass door three times and now are broke again.

At all times when driving down the road the rear end of my truck shakes from 55-80 miles per hour (pretty much the usable speed range of the truck is now worthless). The truck wobbles so much now that it feels unsafe to drive even after numerous attempts to correct the problem i.e. New tires, new rims and new tires, balancing, alignments. Research that i have done has determined that this is a very wide-spread problem and many owners/operators of the nissan titan refer to this violent shaking as the "death wobble"i have spoke with my local nissan dealership and have discovered that nissan of america is not interested in addressing this epidemic that is effecting so many of the titans they have manufactured. The problem is large enough that nissan has published a tsb which includes necessary parts that must be purchased that may only alleviate the "death wobble" and not cure it. I am sad that nissan of america is not standing behind its product to fix an issue that is clearly hazardous not only to the owner/operator of the titan, but all those that are sharing the road with these affected vehicles. My personal note is that my truck feels so hazardous that i will no longer transport my wife or my 3 children in it and i think something should be done to fix this issue.

When turning with the 4 wheel drive engaged, a loud pop was heard like something slamming against metal. And my front tires would not spin causing the truck to get stuck, needing to be towed out. A mechanic fixed the problem of a snapped/broken flange assembly (part # 38220-8s11a) also circlip lock ring (part # 38225-8s110). The same parts broke a 2nd time requiring repair and now a 3rd time. I don't know what to do i cant afford to keep fixing the problem and cant afford a new truck please help us please!!!

Recently the low range shift has stopped working.i use the lower range to hold back the trailer that i tow and i am unable to use it so i have to use my brakes when going downhill.i purchased this vehicle used in august 2009 with 16,000 miles on it.i have only put 30,000 miles on it and expect it to perform longer.

Initial problem was when i stopped at the light. Then wile it turned green and truck started rolling it stopped just like osmeone would stepped hardly on the brakes or hit me from behind. I thought it was isolated incident about couple days later it started making noise in the rear section. I stopped driving the vehicle. Towed to nissan sadly warranty ran out 2 weeks prior the delivery to nissan, however incident happened prior the expiration the warranty. Nissan dealer said rear end assembly has to be replaced. Nissan said they will nto cover the cost of repair.

Maintained the vehicle with the dealership.even performed the transmission flush a few months prior.went to back the vehicle into the garage and there was not reverse.the truck would rev the engine and shake and at high rpm the vehicle would begin to slightly reverse.the next morning i took the truck into the dealership and the transmission was blown.as was the manifold (the manifold was covered by warranty, the transmission was no longer covered). At a little over 60,000 miles and not using the vehicle to tow why did the reverse (which was the only gear affected) and the transmission go out.this is an automatic transmission.

Takata inflators when turning the key it makes a faint click it does not start but when i try it again then it will start the truck is stationary.

Took my titan in for routine maintenance and the service person noticed that the right and left rear axle seals are leaking.the service person found a technical service bulletin (ntb-10-032) for this problem and bulletin says to replace the axle shaft assembly with a newly designed assembly.the leaking gear oil can easily get on the rear brakes and make them fail.this is truly a safety issue, not just a minor defect.

Hose came loose from transmission driving down highway and left me sit in the middle of the road. I had no warning and i lost all transmission fluid.. I reattatched the hose added the correct amount of fluid. Drove it for about 4 day everything was fine try to go ro work there is no 4th gear.. Take it to shops ro find out its gonna cost me 4500.00 for new transmission capacitor and new radiator.. The anti freeze leaked into transmission causing the inside of tranny to be deatroyed

2008 4x4 4d long bed titian , reverse gearstopped working right after power train warranty, ended at 36000 miles.i was using reverse when itfailed. I was reversing atnormal speed of .25 mp/hor what ever people back up to a parking stall normally. There was a tug type sensation, then slippage.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact was informed by an independent mechanic that similar vehicles were subjected to a recall however, the campaign number was not provided. Palmetto57 nissan located at 16725 nw 57th ave, miami gardens, fl 33055, (305) 521-8297, was contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

Dealer determined that there is a read end differential failure and needs replacement.

Lower transmission hose to radiator cracks and releases transmission fluid due to vibrations and being inadequately supported, causing sudden loss of transmission. 1st time it happened while driving on highway with 45000-50000 miles and required transmission replacement, second time at 90000 miles.

The 4 wheel drive system on the nissan titan is inadequate or poorly designed. My truck has had the front differential replaced twice in the last 3 months, with minimal usage of the 4 wheel drive system, and under appropriate conditions.grinding noises has been felt and heard from the front differential when engaging into 4hi, which is capable of being shifted on the fly. When engaging into 4hi and experiencing noises such as this while already moving at speed- 20-30mph, it is rather unsettling. To the average consumer who is not a mechanic (which i am) this is probably even more frightening to experience. The differential installed in april of this year was a revised version, to have supposedly correct issues which many titans have faced in earlier production years. This differential failed within 3 months. The truck was just fixed last week with another revised differential, we'll see how long this one lasts. Aftermarket warranty and dealer parts warranty have covered all repairs aside from a deductible, however someone not with this warranty would have faced repairs in the thousands of dollars range. With miss-use i can understand pats failing, however this was not the case.

I purchased my 2008 nissan titan brand new in 2008, somewhere around 75000 miles my front differential came apart, fortunately my extended warranty i purchased covered the $5000.00 replacement cost that nissan wanted to charge. Here i am at 138000 miles out of warranty with the same issue. Nissan is no help at all, this truck has been used mainly on the highway, with minimal use to the four wheel drive system. I service everything myself using only what nissan recommends. Im not impressed with my $40000 boat anchor, it will be the last time i ever purchase a nissan. This is the second titan i have owned, didn't have any issues with my 2004.

Driving 55mph and transmission slips all of a sudden.no warning lights - nothing. Next smoke rolls out under hood - pull off road/stop.look under vehicle and it's covered with transmission fluid. Towed to dealer for repair - said transmission is shot. $5000 to replace.vehicle has 85,000 miles.had transmission services last year by nissan dealer.hearing problem may be because of radiator.dealer and nissan headquarters offered no assistance whatsoever.

Last week, i drove 6 hours to start vacation with my family, august 2014, when i noticed that my nissan truck would intermittently start to shake slightly and also made a noise like a "jake brake" does on a tractor trailer truck.this occurred when i was either driving 20 mph up to 65 mph.i arrived at my vacation location 6 hours from my home and took my nissan titan to a nissan dealership first thing the next morning.after the mechanic diagnosed my problem, the service advisor called me and said my rear end differential was going out and needed to be replaced.as i was driving down, i knew i had a problem and could not drive my truck back home until this was repaired.since car dealerships do not repair car parts anymore these days, they told me that the rear end differential would cost $3,200.00 plus labor.the total repair came to $3900.00.ouch! it took the dealership 5 days to get the new rear end differential delivered from a nissan parts house in the northeastern us and replaced since they did not have it locally.my issue is this.....i have never owned a vehicle that had to have the rear end differential replaced at 79,000 miles, nor have any of my friends had this happen to them either! i even called nissan corporate and they did not offer me any financial assistance either which tells me they don't really stand by their product!!!i understand if it were a water pump, radiator, brakes, tires, etc. But not a major component that should not go bad at 79,000 miles. One more thing in closing, i have never used a trailer to haul anything either with my nissan titan pick up truck.

Right rear waterloo slipped and lost traction while under power. Left rear wheel caught traction and blew the spider gear out of the rear-end of the truck, rendering the vehicle disabled.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan xe/se/le. The contact stated that while he attempted to activate the gear shifter button into manual, the gear did not engage. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure as the gear shifter wire being cut in half. The dealer advised replacing the gear shifter assembly. The manufacturer stated they had not received complaints concerning the failure and would not assist with the repair.the failure and the current mileage was 58,468.

The left rear axle seal on my 2008 nissan titan began leaking with out me knowing it was happening. The grease was thrown onto the left rear tire over an undetermined period of time. The grease caused the rubber in the tire to soften and caused the tire to blow out while i was traveling @ 65 mph on the interstate. When the blow out occurred pieces of the tire beat the fender of the truck causing $1500 in body damage. I also had to have the axle seal replaced at a cost $400. From what i now understand rear axle seal failure is very common on the titan trucks yet there have been no re-calls and/or no action by the nhtsa to demand this problem be corrected. With out this issue being public knowledge what happened to me could easily happen to others and have a more negative outcome than i did. Of course nissan refused to compensate me for the damage even though they know this is and has been an on going defect in these vehicles.

Rear differential completely went out. Started out with a loud whining/grinding noise then a thump. Hoping it was just a pinion seal - but nope. Whole differential has to be replaced

While driving, my nissan titan began to accelerate out of control.i applied the brakes but the motor was too strong.i put the transmission into neutral and the motor redlined and i immediately turned the motor off.the local nissan dealership says their computer does not find anything wrong.i am worried to put my family in this vehicle or let my wife drive it.

The drive shaft fell from underneath the truck while i was attempting to turn left from a stop.

2008 nissan titan le 4x4 long wheel base...knocking sound began while my husband was driving on the interstate 55-70 mph. Next day a whine developed on acceleration / deceleration. Noted leaks at front and rear seals on differentials. Took to dealer; without removing inspection covers diagnosed failed rear assembly. Stated fairly common - told to pursue my complaint for assistance from nissan north america customer service. Fluids added -- when my husband left the dealership the whining deteriorated into a constant banging consistent with speed. Husband was close to home and drove the vehicle at 30 mph to our driveway. At this point the vehicle has developed a hard shudder. Ii was fortunate that the failure did not occur at highway speed as he drives 50k per year on the interstate and given the gryo type shuddernow noticeable at 30 mph one can imagine what a fragmented differential and loose drive shaft might have done. Will tow it to the dealership for repair when the rear assembly comes in. I will also ask the dealer to save my old parts for me.

Rear diff failure.

Rear axle seal leaks, sending oil over the back plate of the brakes, wetting the brake pads & disk, causing greater stopping distances, and rear end accidents, or rear end failure, causing an accident or roll over. This is not a new problem, since the truck has been on the market there has been seal problems with the axel and still nothing has been done, does it take a death of someone to solve this problem, no just a recall and better design.

Brakes have a fading brake pedal, nissan says this is ok/normal. I say this is dangerous. The brakes work fine unless you are in a panic situation. When you press on the pedalto make a quick stop if necessary on the highway the pedal travels 4" to 5". You lose seconds in a "need to stop now" situation. Not only does this make the driver try to pump the brakes but the travel is so long as to extend your leg completely and still need to compress the brake pedal more. Didn't realize this problem existed until the other day when i needed to panic stop. Almost lost control trying to compensate for the pedal travel. Also when backing my boat into the lake - constant pressure makes the pedal travel down. The brakes hold but i have to compensate for this "mushy" pedal. I have recently replaced the brakes, calipers and master cylinder to no avail. I guess i could replace all the brake components but according to my research it won't help. As i understand it the newer vehicles of nissan (not just titan) have the same problem. How they get away with this i don't know. Its a problem you wouldn't know about unless you've driven these vehicles awhile..i am not the only one having this problem and being "dead ended" by nissan. I'm 63, have worked on cars my whole life, i know what i'm talking about. Please investigate this as no doubt many have been injured or killed by this problem. I cant sell the vehicle to anyone else knowing there's no solution to the problem. Ps - ford, chrysler and chevy do not have this problem. The only solution it seems is to modify/replace the whole brake system -- expensive and difficult - we shouldn't have to deal with this. Please help.

I have had over a dozen instances while applying the brakes the break peddle would push to the floor and you would hear a loud noise as if the abs braking system was failing. You could feel it in the brake pedal and it frightens the heck out of you. I have taken it into my local premier nissan in metairie, la and had the service department look at it, but they could not duplicate the problem and informed they could not help. I have had my family in the truck and it has happened with them and my 16 year old son has experienced it as well. This is a serious issue and i'm afraid one day it will fail and i will loose the ability to stop my vehicle. After each incident, i have to turn the truck off and restart it to stop the noise from coming from the abs break system. It is extremely dangerous that i have to turn my truck off while having a green light, on the interstate and any other dangerous situation. I wish i could get some clarity as to fixing this breaking issue.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan.the contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the brakes seized and the rear passenger side brakes began to make loud noises. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis and the mechanic stated that the spring was corroded and fractured.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. While driving 10 mph, the brakes malfunctioned without warning. The contact stated that the brake pedal extended to the floorboard when it was depressed. Tom peacock of houston, texas was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall on the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 142,000.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact stated that the brake sensor light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer, who repaired the sensor but the failure recurred.when the failure occurred, the vehicle failed to start. The failure mileage was 61675.

For the past 6 months, i have been having issues with the brake pedal feeling "spongy" and occasionally going to the floor without any reduction in speed.the brake pedal progressively got worse and culminated when i was travelling on the highway at 70 mph and tried to slow down due to slower traffic.i applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor.i had to swerve into the breakdown lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me.i took the truck to my local mechanic who kept it for several days to diagnose the problem.he replaced several brake components including the front brake calipers, master cylinder, brake booster, and the abs module.he then bled the brake lines multiple times to get the brake pedal back to its normal range.all of this worked for several months and then the problem returned.i took the truck to the local nissan dealer on january 31, 2018 and had the following done.they performed another brake flush, cleaned and adjusted the rear calipers, and cleaned and lubricated the slides and pad contacts.i picked the truck up and the brake pedal felt like new.it has now been a little over three months and the brake pedal is gradually falling towards the floor during braking, similar to past experience.braking distances while the vehicle is in motion have increased and the braking power doesn't seem to be there anymore.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. He stated that while driving 45 mph he crashed into two vehicles. The contact attempted to engage the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed and caused a front end collision. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belts did not latch. The contact sustained major injuries to his head, arms and legs from the front windshield. The police was notified and an incident report is available. The dealer stated that they are not liable and advised the contact to notify the insurance company. The dealer agreed to repair the air bag sensors at the owners expense. The vehicle identification number was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 31,000.

All 4 brake pads and rotors required changing on a 2008 nissan titan at 14,315 mi. This was determined by two qualified mechanics.quote from the nissan dealership, "all brake rotors are severely pitted..."there was no warning and this is unexpected at such low mileage.it was detected when tires were being rotated.nissan claimed that this may be normal wear and would not help with financial compensation.rotors are available for viewing (for investigation purposes) for a period of time.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan.the contact stated that when applying the brakes, the brake pedal would intermittently fall much farther into the floorboard than usual followed by an abnormal pop sound. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnosis or repairs. Most recently, the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 10e019000 (suspension lower control arm) and the contact stated that she no longer felt safe driving the vehicle. This was the third recall notice she received for the vehicle.the current and failure mileage was 22,464.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor. The driver stated that he has been to 2 dealers and they have told him that this was normal. The failure mileage was 1,000. The current mileage was 8,000.

2008 nissan titan. Consumer states he has received 4 recalls on his vehicle. Consumer expresses discontent regarding dealer not responding to recall problems *tgweach time the consumer went to the dealer, they would tell him, the parts were not available.

Clear coat is peeling all over the entire body of vehicle.

I was driving on a rough stretch of i-55 south. I then noticed the overhead console slowly separating from the front. Then all of a sudden it started falling. I couldn't pull over at the time this was happening. I also couldn't see anything from the rearview mirror. By the time i was able to exit, the console had broken up to the last compartment. I pulled into a parking lot so that i could try to disconnect the wires. I still had 40 plus miles to drive to get home. I was able to disconnect the wires and put the broken console on the seat. I called a local nissan dealer once i got home. I was told the only thing that i could do was to purchase a new console. I was also told that i would have to replace everything including the tv monitor which is still in place.

There seems to be a paint defect on my nissan titan on the hood and roof. I have mentioned it to the dealer since 2009 but they deny any blame. I now notice the exact similar pattern defect in multiple titans. The clear coat is worn away almost down to the metal. I have contacted nissan but they say unless there are enough complaints they do not have to address it. I realize this is not life threatening, but i wanted to lodge a formal complaint because it is a defect that will affect me when i go to trade it in and it is something that i notice with most other titan owners of trucks this age.

The frame of my truck is rusted so bad the top of the bed is against the cab when i go down street the front of the bed pops up it's rotted over 3 quarters way threw please contact me asap thank you

Overhead console plastic becomes too brittle to support weight of console causing mount points to break allowing console to swing down. My console nearly hit me in side of the head. This cause view to be obstructed and could easily hit driver. Upon researching this for repair i found many other having the same issue. My guess is an inferior batch of plastic in the 08 lineup.

White patches appeared all around the truck within a week parked in my driveway. Spots and patches on hood, fenders, roof, tailgate and doors

The back two door latches do not open untilled jiggled or continually vibrated.this would not allow the doors to be opened in the event of a emergency.i have taken the vehicle back to be repaired but to no avail.vehicle was stationary while trying to open doors.its this a safety hazard since the occupants may not be able to exit the vehicle during a critical time?

I have complained to the dealership, since day one that my truck had handling issues.that my rear axle was off center and the vehicle was not tracking straight.their answer was an alignment about 20 of them.bad tires, my driving, etc.not their perfect truck.after 2 1/2 years of fighting nissan they sent my truck to a frame shop.the rear of the frame from the ft spring hangers tp the rear is bowed upwards.putting my springs in a bind and causing the rear axle to be out of line.causing the erratic handing.if you have a titan which seems to have an offset rear axle have the frame checked by computer.though the frame may be straight, the rear of it may be bowed horizontally, causing problems.i took my truck to a frame shop 2 yrs ago and told them the frame was not right.i guess after thinking there was no way my frame was bent they allowed me to take it to the frame shop.ha! ha! on them may frame was bowed has been so since day one.hopefully the lawyer can get me out of the truck.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 45 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the failure was due to the electronic control unit. The dealer replaced the electronic control unit. The headlights then failed to illuminate. The contact also stated that the rear axle failed while driving 60 mph and the rear axle was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and they denied assistance with repairs. The headlight failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was 138,000 and the current mileage 148,000. Sm.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. While driving 10 mph, the contact realized that the exhaust manifold became very loud when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the exhaust manifold needed to be replaced. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and nothing could be done. The failure mileage was 102,000.

My truck's front suspension makes noise especially when it goes over speed bumps. It's been making noise for maybe since 2010 years and we have got it checked but the service guys says it's fine. The tires, rotations, service has always been well kept.

Vehicle has a vibration/shaking problem. At 55mph the bed shakes. At 65mph there is a vibration that causes the passenger seat to shake. It gets worse. At 70mph the whole vehicle shakes.

2008 nissan titan has a large knock in the front suspension when going over bumps and or hills when driving the posted speed limit. The truck was taken to the nissan dealership many times until nissan finally decided to post a tsb. The tsb states to replace the front springs on 2008-2010 titans with springs from 2007 titans which will lower the front of the truck by 1.5 inches. My truck is now an eye sore by having an unbalanced rake when looking at the truck from front to back and still knocks heavily when going over bumps and or hills. Nissan admits the issue is present but state they do not have a fix.

In 2005 titan truck had their adjustable camber bolts replaced with non-adjustable bolt. This caused any truck needing a front end alignment to have to have the bolts replaced. Nissan is not replacing these bolts on a recall but have notified dealers on a atsb. This seems to be a deliberate attempt to cause more dealer work and consumer cost by designing a bolt that they knew in advance would not work.

2008 nissan titan. Consumer states he has received 4 recalls on his vehicle. Consumer expresses discontent regarding dealer not responding to recall problems *tgweach time the consumer went to the dealer, they would tell him, the parts were not available.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact was driving at 45 mph when the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. The contact stated the failure would most occur when braking from a high speed. The contact later discovered that the stabilizer bar was not aligned correctly and was causing the tires to wear prematurely. The dealer advised the vehicle was not under recall or warranty and repairs would be at the contacts expense. The vehicle was neither repaired nor diagnosed for the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan.he stated that while driving 65 mph the rear suspension would hit against the structure of the vehicle which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that they could not duplicate the failure.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturerwas contacted who advised him to take the vehicle to another dealer. The failure and current mileages were 37,000.

I bought a nissan titan 2008 6 weeks ago that had 5 brand new good year titan tires put on at purchase; 4 on the truck one on the spare. Within 3 days of each other 2 went flat. The first was ruled as a factory defect by the tire repair shop. The second the shop was not sure, it had a hole in the tread area but had no nail or any other cause of puncture. Anyway he recommended that i take it back to the dealers ship to get the tires adjusted and replaced. They refused to do so and not knowing that i use to work on tires myself proceeded to blame me for the flats. I informed the man he was wrong and he said i could take it to a good year service center for a second opinion; which i did. Good year said the same thing as the original tire guy, "factory defect" he also stated i had "p" rated tires on my titan and in his opinion i should have "lt" rated tires on my truck. These flats occurred with my truck setting in the driveway thank god. The dealership was country ford of southaven ms. The man who lied to me and accused me of being at fault was named [xxx]. The good year man said when he spoke to them he was told by another guy that they wouldn't resolved the tire issue because they had 4 months of adjustments they had not been paid for yet. That is not my problem; now since they are the ones who put the p rated car tires on my truck; and not lt rated truck tires they have put me and anyone else riding with me as well as anyone driving near me in danger. I had two flats in 3 days on tires that have less than 2000 miles on them.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

08 titan bought new 11/5/07tire warning light came onthe way home since that time the truck has been in the shop ten times related to this safety device all sensors have been replaced as well as the control module, the result is you disregard this important safety feature, because it is always a false warning.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan. The contact stated that the tps light illuminated on the instrument panel. He took the vehicle to a dealer who advised him that the valve sensorfractured and he was unable to be drive the vehicle off of the lot. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 29,000. The vin was unavailable.

Takata inflators when turning the key it makes a faint click it does not start but when i try it again then it will start the truck is stationary.

Taking off from a stop sign the rear end broke and was undriveable. Putting in park did not prevent truck from rolling and had to be towed.

The mechanism that goes to the air conditioner remains on after the truck is shut off causing the battery to drain fast. It has left me stranded many times even after changing the battery. It happens every time the truck is shut off.

I purchased my truck in 2014 from country ford. Shortly after purchase i had a tire side wall come apart on one of my brand new tires. I took it to country ford and they refused to fix it. So i took it to good year in southaven ms who said it was a manufactures defect and they explained that to country ford's general manager who in return finally replaced the tire. Since then i have had all four tires on the ground patched by elaine tire company; total number of patches done were 5 times. The tire repairman stated that rocks had poked holes in the tires in the tread area.it was brought to my attention that all the tires on my truck are passenger rated tires, including the spare which are not designed for my truck, instead of putting lt tires on the truck which should be mandatory by all car sales facilities they put 4-ply p-rated tires on my truck which are designed for passenger cars. All trucks should be required to have lt-rated tires with a minimum of at least a 6-ply tire design. These tires almost caused me to crash when the side wall came apart; and if driving on a gravel road can flatten a tire the p-rated tires that easily then they should not be used at all. I have attempted to get country ford and good year to replace these dangerous tires several times with a proper lt-rated tire. They both refused stating the tires should be sufficient enough to do what ever i wanted to do. Evidently they are worthless for everyday simple driving, if the can be flattened with a rock.

Speedometer, cruise, odometer stopped working on/off

Windshield on the passenger side is fuzzy and is hard to see out of while driving at night or when it is cloudy.

Windshield washer motor stopped working. Now when the road conditions are bad the visibility is drastically lowered. The more i research this problem and the one with the air conditioner not shutting off the more i notice that these are wide spread and very common issues.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titan.the contact stated that the heat in his vehicle will not keep the windows defrosted in the winter.the windows remained fogged and icy in temperatures below 30 degrees, even though the defroster was at its maximum setting.the contact stated that it is a safety hazard because he cannot see out of the windows while driving.the vehicle was taken to the dealer at least three times, but they have not found a solution to defrost the windows.the failure mileage was 3,900. Updated 5/6/09 updated 05/08/09.

The heat works on and off. After the truck is warmed up, the heat will not work. This happens frequently while using the heat.

This is a 2-part incident, the first incident happened last fall, 2010.during a service visit to a reputable local automotive shop, it was discovered that a lug stud on the right rear wheel was missing.the stud was broken off. It was replaced and considered a mysterious but benign incident.returning from an 1200 mile road trip last week, i took my titan in for an oil change to the same automotive shop.they informed me that 4 of the 6 lug nuts were missing.upon further inspection, they were all broken off about a 1/4" from the axle wheel mount - on the same right rear wheel.the missing studs were in the 10, 12, 2 and 6 o'clock positions - the only 2 remaining studs that prevented a catastropic accident involving my son and me were in the 4 and 8 o'clock positions!it is nothing short of a miracle that we were not involved in a deadly crash!!one of the two remaining studs holding the wheel on the axle was one replaced previously last fall. I had aired up the tires the night before i left on this trip and did not notice any missing lug nuts.clearly this was not a theft attempt for two reasons:a) why would someone who could simply unscrew the lugs nuts instead, with great effort, twist them off the wrong direction...and for what purpose? and b) twice in six months on the same wheel?internet research reveals several other incidents of broken lug studs, everyone seeming to attribute it to an odd, one-off incident.it is my option that the studs are defective and a result of stress fatigue.one post on a nissan forum sited someone who actually found a crack in one of the studs that had not yet broken off.i strongly urge an investigation into this situation - someone is going to die as a result of it.i am also going to seek to have nissan replace all the studs on my truck although i expect they will refuse leaving it to me to do it at my own cost.

The contact owns a 2008 nissan titian. While driving approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed that the tire pressure warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a local tire shop where the technician stated there was a failure in the front passenger side rim which caused the light to illuminate. The dealer then referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 57,000.
