Nissan recalled for airbag malfunction.

I am reporting a safety concern to nhtsb because the same seat belt component for my 2004 nissan sentra 1.8l sedan has failed three times within a span of 5,209 miles .the local nissan dealer has no explanation for the repeated failures:12/23/2008 @ 46,401 miles; 8/13/2009 @ 48,000 miles; 1/19/2010 @ 51,610 miles.nissan dealer corrected the problems each time under warranty with belt assy - tongue #86884-6z604 .the airbag light came on and stayed flashing each time until the problem is corrected.i do not know if the entire safety restraint system itself has been compromised with a single component failure.the front passenger seat is rarely occupied as i am the lone driver of this car and carry no passenger.i have written to nissan consumer affairs, p.o.box 685003, franklin tn 37068-5003 last aug 22, 2009 about this safety concern and nissan has not responded.

This is a new update and see #10301656 . Less than 3 weeks since my last repair, my 2004 sentra airbag light is flashing again.i took it back to the dealer and they are now saying the computer is bad and needs to be replaced for $667.i asked the service adviser how did he know the previous three seat belt assemblies were bad and he said the error code told him so.i asked him what led him to believe the computer is bad this time, and he said they have to try something else and work upstream since the last three fixes did not work.i asked him if he is sure the computer is the problem and he can not say or give me a good answer.i told him i will not be keeping the car once it is fixed and so they better do a through job to protect the next buyer now that the car has (4) repair records due to airbag system failure.i called the nissan hq for assistance and they in turn contact the local dealer for information.the only discrepancy i can determine is now the shop claims to have error codes that pin point the problem.nissan hq said the car is out of warranty but i told them the first incident occurred under the warranty period and it took them (4) times and still couldn't get it right.i believed the nissan airbag restraint has some design flaw because all of the replaced assemblies are on the passenger side and i am the lone driver.+++++++i am reporting a safety concern to nhtsb because the same seat belt component for my 2004 nissan sentra 1.8l sedan has failed three times within a span of 5,209 miles . Takata recall. The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

My passenger airbag was recalled and fixed by deland nissan but what about the driver airbag?media reported a man lost an eye and a woman lost her life due to driver airbag, so why have the driver airbags not been recalled also?

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. When the contact started the vehicle, the passenger side air bag suddenly deployed without warning. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealership and the contact previously noticed that the air bag light had appeared on the dashboard. The current and failure mileages were 85000.

While driving 25 mph consumer applied the brake pedal andbrakes failed.consumer was not able to maintain control of the vehicle, and it collided with the vehicle in front. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, but the cause of the problem was not determined.

The car was involved a front impact accident which was hard enough to result in the vehicle being deemed as a total loss by the insurance company. In this accident neither the passenger nor the driver air bags deployed.

Nissan sentra 2004 engine automatically shuts off when driving. Could possibly cause an accident. 1.8l. I've had a mechanic run a computer test on the engine and says that the crank shaft sensor is malfunctioning, which is causing the engine to shut off. I have read about a few other people experiencing this problem and would like for you to please look into it. Thank you.

I purchased a vehicle for 4000 dollars and on the odometer it said it had 75,000 miles and the sticker said 69,204. We thought it was a good deal and investment so we took it. So this man and whoever who works with texas auto trading incgot the title and sticker for me. I never signed anything and a few days later the car started showing 176,00 miles on the odometer. Then on august 5, 2013 i called the individual jesus to ask for the title and he said he had gotten it with 10 more that were late i asked him why to his address and he blamed someone else wheni gave him my address several times. So it's registered to his home. So i went to get the title read it had 180,000 miles. So none of the info was right and on carfax and auto check it has different info showing proof of tampering with odometer on vehicle and title and state inspection. No evidence is on the reports of the state inspection sticker being made on 11/21/12. I called the local mesquite police and they said the seller jesus had said "he didn't know about the car and he bought it that way." i was never informed and i've been dealing with these evasive people who will not give me my money back or want to disclose his last name or anything. I looked at the reports on auto check and car fax and at the time of purchase it had more miles on it.i don't want anyone to deal with this consumer fraud and i want my money back. I can't sell or do anything with the vehicle since all info is false and i don't believe it's fair for me or anyone to have to pay the burden of all these and more expenses. They buy cars and resell them and i hope no one else has to deal with this this odometer fraud.

My car stalled while driving. I was going the speed limit of 45 mph and without warning my car just lost power & stopped. I was lucky enough to be able to coast off the road without getting into an accident.i was on an 8-lane very busy road in a middle lane. At the first moment, the service engine light came on, then all the warning lights and the car stopped. I had the car towed. When the mechanic put it on the computer it said that the crank position sensor & camshaft sensor was the problem.it cost me $ 376.00 for the repair. The mechanic told me this was a common problem with nissans. I read online where the problem was happening to my model and there was a recall of some.my car is a 1.8 model, but nissan consumer affairs told me my car was not part of the recall, despite the fact that the exact malfunction happened to my car. This is a safety issue! i was lucky that there was not any other cars around me when my car stalled and i was able to coast off the road. I have retained the faulty parts that were replaced for examination. I was out of town at the time of this incident.

The keyless remote does not work unless they take out a fuse because of a short in the electrical system - that particular fuse controled the lights in the vanity mirrow - they said they have to order a part to fix it - and that all 2004 models have this problem. Also the passenger side back door does not open from the inside! maybe due to the same problem - waiting to hear from dealership.

2004 nissan sentra 1.8s: purchased new on 3/13/2004.mileage 2060 - jersey city, nj: service engine soon light came on, brought to dealer, ecm reprogrammed, dealer did not know what caused the light to come on.erratic/rough idling still persists, vehicle shut off once while refueling.mileage, approx. 4725 - jersey city, nj: service engine soon light came on and went off intermittently, dealer refused to repair due to "no hard code is stored."erratic/rough idling persists.vehicle shut off second time while parked.began lemon law proceedings in new jersey.mileage, 5370 - myrtle beach, sc: service engine soon light is on.car is bucking in 1st gear (automatic), "mapp" gas or rotten egg smell (possibly excess sulfur) coming from exhaust.error code p0171/p0174, air flow meter replaced with no further failures.mileage, 5637 - charlotte, nc: service engine soon light is on.vehicle now bucks at high speeds, especially when letting up on the accelerator.after prolonged highway driving, very erratic idle, at times almost reaching 0 rpms while parked.dealer reset ecm, could not detect any failures.arranged to change fuel pump but finally fuel pump was not changed.vehicle driven back to new jersey with same failures as listed above.since charlotte, nc service engine soon light has come on two times, and has gone away just as fast.i do not have much time to keep my only car (and new car) in and out of the dealership, since they refuse to provide a rental.my recommendation: want to stay alive, stay away from nissan cars and trucks.

Ac never worked properly , serviced several times for the same problem.

It takes several tries to start my 2004 nissan sentra and sometimes stalls right after starting the vehicle.

On jan.30,2012, my car stalled while driving. I was going the speed limit of 55 mph and without warning my car just stalled. I was lucky enough to be able to coast off the road without getting into an accident. After about 10 minutes i was able to start my car. At first the service engine light was not on but after about 3 mins. The service engine light came on. I drove the car to the dealership without any problem. The invoice states: ran the diag trouble tree. Could not get the dtc to confirm. Checked powers and grounds, all are good. Pulled the sensor and did the inspection and found the resistance to be wrong between terminal 2 & 3. They told me that the crank position sensor needed to be replaced and i approved the repair. It cost me $210.00 for the repair. I read on the safecar.gov website where the problem was happening to the 2.5l models and were recalled. My car is a 1.8l model.this is a safety issues. I was lucky that there was not any other cars around me when my car stalled and i was able to coast off the road.

Tom wood nissan carmel in refused to honor recall #report receipt date: jul 07, 2006 nhtsa campaign number: 06v242000 component(s): engine and engine cooling

Driving 65 on highway the vehicle stop running.

The vehicle was difficult to start and require multiple tries.the would jerk and felt like it was slipping out of gear but did not.has completely stalled when slowing for stop light.on 12/5/11, would not crank at all.per nissan service center, the crankshaft senor is failing; however, there is not recall for nissan sentra ser spec-v only 2004 sentras.all nissan sentras should be on the recall list including ser spec-vs.concerned that there are other safety issues with nissan sentras that would also effect spec-v that are not being reported to spec-v owners.

4 days ago while driving my car it just shut off. The car died it just completely shut off while i was going 55 miles and hour. Luckily i was able to pull off the road and out of traffic. I tried restarting the car and after several attempts i was able to get it restarted. The check engine light came on at that point. It then went less than a mile and the same thing happened again. This time i was able to pull in and park it in a store parking lot. I took it to a repair shop and had it put on there machine to see what the problem was. I was told it was the battery so i had that replaced. When i was driving it after leaving the repair shop the car died again. At the suggestion of my sister i took the car the next day to a auto parts store they plugged in the machine to read the codes it came back p0335 the crank shaft sensor. I had to order a new one and replace it and the check engine light has yet to go off. Today while doing some research on this problem i find out that this is a problem for this vehicle. I have never heard about the recall that i keep reading about while doing this research. I am scared to drive my car and scared to drive it with my kids in it. The car is a 2004 nissan sentra se with a 1.8 engine. I have not had a chance to road test it to see if it will continue to shut off now that the sensor has been replaced because i am scared to drive it for an extended period. I have yet to see if the problem has been corrected but from what i have been reading i doubt that it has been.

The engine stalled due to a failed crankshaft position sensor and/or camshaft position sensor while driving i tried starting car again after 4-5 minutes started, and engine stalled again after 20-25 minutes then i started car again after 15-20 minutes and it started. I think these sensors can fail intermittently as they warm with the engine. Sensors on certain models have been recalled by nissan and will be replaced as necessary but i'm not sure why my win number is not included in that recall while i'm having the same problem.

2004 nissan sentra shut off while stopped in drive. Second incident, and many thereafter, was while the a/c was running, the vehicle shut off while in drive and physically moving. Service engine soon light appeared and currently displays code p0335: crankshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. There is currently a recall for my 2003 nissan sentra for this exact situation, but not the my 2004 and i highly suggest this is reconsidered because this issue is affecting more that the my 2003.

Drove the 2004 nissan sentra 1.8l on the highway at 60mph and the car began to decrease speed to about 30 to 40mph with rpm meter fluctuations while pressing on the gas with same pressure. On the same day the car shut off multiple times after starting it for a minute. Previously on 2 occasions while at a stop light the car would shut off while idling. The check engine light was on for awhile but would periodically turn off. Took the car to nissan after the highway incident and they said it was the cam position sensor and crank sensor. When asked about recalls nissan said my car was not listed under the recall campaign. Had to pay $730 to fix this problem while after reading other people's complaints for this model and other model complaints it appears this is a common problem and should be taken a look at to include in the recall.

Driving & all gauges in dashboard turned off. The same day, the car didn't respond normally when gas pedal was pressed. The gas pedal was pressed several times before car took in gas. Parked car, & later that day restarted car. Car again didn't respond well when pressing accelerator.gauges still non operational. Car died & battery tested by aaa. Battery found to be ok, but charging system was issue. Towed to tow yard & told alternator needed to be replaced. New, not rebuilt, alternator replaced by cousin & fuse (not sure which one) was found to be blown & replaced. Gauges worked after fuse & alternator replaced. Check engine light came on several days later. Cked car on auto zones free diagnostic tool & diagnostic trouble code u1001 can communication line & p0462 secondary code given. Car died again bout week later & towed to pep boys. Pep boys said battery needed replacement, so i had aaa test it & aaa said its the charging system. Aaa replaced the battery after much ado. Car taken back to pep boys for 'electronic diagnosis' & they said alternator!alternator tested at separate battery shop & tested fine. Later found meter fuse blown. Took to mechanic specializing in electrical & he scanned pcm & found no communication on data lines. Had blown meter fuse causing false code. Mechanic cleared out codes & test drove. He ckd charge 14.2 volts. Mechanic told me to bring it in if happens again. Well, happened again & replaced meter fuse & ck engine light on again. Electrical mechanic said it's a short somewhere & i'd have to leave car for maybe several days. Had a friend inspect under dashboard & cked under the gear shifter & ckd speedometer wires & didn't find any shorts. Googled "meter fuse nissan sentra" & meter fuse has created a lot of problems. Problems listed on forums. I've already spent $550, can't afford to pay nissan $150 diagnostic fee yet.

This vehicle was bought from a man at a home for "x" amount of miles. Now the odometer, title, and state inspection sticker miles do not match on different information. I bought this car i can't sell or do anything with it. All of these documents were tampered with and they are evasive and denying it all even to the cops when i have evidence and do not want to give me my money in full. I thought i bought a good car and now i know better and my life and my family is in danger with this car it is not safe and i was lied to. Complete fraud on the odometer and more.

Nissan sentra 2004 has the following "problems" when trying to start car, have to pump gas and turn the key 2-3 times in weather ranging from 50f to 100f.also, the rubber on window seal is turning/bending. I put # of failures as 365 since it is an every day occurrence.

Most of the time when i try to turn on the car i have to try 2 or 3 times in order for it to turn.the car sounds like it will turn on but it will not, therefore i have to continue turning the key and try again.sometimes when i accelerate the car will not response, it will take a while to do so.

Purchased car brand new with 7 miles on it.on 3/15/04 at 495 miles on the computer died - lost engine power in heavy traffic, check engine light on.dealer replaced computer under warranty and i accepted delivery of repaired vehicle on 3/19/04.on 3/31/04 at 720 miles - check engine light came on again, lost all engine power again in heavy traffic.made it to dealer - was told 'nothing they could do for me' and although the car is unsafe to drive, constantly losing power in traffic - they told me to take it away, or leave it there and walk home (10 miles)...

Dashboard instrument panel replaced.

Car was left at home for 4 days while on vacation. Upon return the vehicle would not turn over. It would crank, but would not start. Had vehicle towed to local shop who determined that the computer was at fault. He charged me the diagnostic fee of $90.00, printed out a page showing that there was a service bulletin on the matter and advised me to bring the vehicle back to nissan. Brought vehicle back and nissan wanted me to leave it with them so they could duplicate the problem. This was unacceptable since my daughter needs the vehicle for work. This problem only happened once, but reading what others have said it appears to be an uncorrected problem. Nissan should check into this...by the way, it took 2 weeks to get a service appointment with nissan.

Engine stop running while being driven, no service engine light on.the vehicle vin number on the car is 3n1ab51d64lxxxxxxnissan sentra2004.

The consumer experienced the same problem as described in the ecm material recall 03v477000 in addition, the vehicle jerked back and forward, but the vehicle identification number and model year was not included in the recall.

Tsb switch on my car went crazy wouldn't allow me to drive car i would like someone to check out at no cost to me a mechanic got it going said he had to reset computer in the car.

While driving vehicle stalled, followed by all the dashboard lights. Some components were digitalilluminating likewhen the vehicle was first started. Dealership was unable to correct the failure because they couldn't duplicate it.

I purchased a used nissan sentra ser spec-v, from a private party on 5/8/13. I was driving 70 mph, about 6 miles down the freeway, from where i purchased the car, when the engine died. The check engine light came on, and i was able to coast over to the shoulder and stop, while smoke flowed out from under the hood. The car was towed 25 miles to a mechanic i trust. The gears in the counter balancer assembly blew apart, clogging an oil screen, not allowing oil to the cylinders, and threw a rod. I mentioned i had heard about issues with the crank position sensors on these cars, and replaced it as well. $2428.90, plus a $200 tow. On 5/13/13, i went to a local nissan dealer to see if there were any recalls on my car, and was told not for my vin numbers. I got the car back on 5/23, and have driven it less than 100 miles when on 5/26/13, going 40 mph, it suddenly died again. I cost to the side of the road and stopped. No lights came on or any signs of the problem. I tried 6-8 times to start it. I got out and opened the hood to see if anything looked funny, went back again to start it and it turned right on. The odometer is 55,571. I look on this website and see 100 other complaints of sentras randomly shutting off. This problem is unacceptable, next time my car dies, there might not be a safe place to pull over to, or without power steering and brakes, i am likely hit someone.

The car could be going down the road then it would just shut down.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While driving at 70 mph, the vehicle engine failed without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that camshaft position sensor code 0335 failed. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 101,000.

In july of 2011 my 2004 nissan sentra se-r spec v had some issues. I had a check engine light come on and had light blue smoke come out of my exhaust while accelerating and had been starting to notice bad oil and fuel consumption. I took it to the nissan dealership and they searched for any open recalls on my specific car based on running my vin number into the database and they told me it was not one of the affected vehicles. After hooking up a code scanner to my car they found the following codes, p0420 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold), p0302(cylinder #2 misfire), p0303( cylinder #3 misfire) during the diagnosis they said that the pre-cat (exhaust manifold) had come apart and the material inside had glogged my exhaust system and gotten sucked back into my cylinders and scored the cylinder walls. They stated that they had also found valve damage and even found some of the cat material in my oil. Nissan was kind enough to replace my engine block and the pre-cat manifold as well as my secondary catalytic converter even though they said it was not a vehicle affected by the recall campaign that nissan had issued. So here i am a little over 2 years later and guess what? it came back. I am having the exact same symtoms as before. I took my car back into the same nissan dealership and they will not fix it again without charging me. They refused because it was never a part of the recalled vehicles and it is currently not under any warranty with its 105,000 miles. So, i ask them, why did they fix it the first time? their response was, and i quote, "it was a courtesy" to which i said, "hmmm, so you guys do a courtesy fix for over $3,000 worth of work for a car that supposedly "isn't" part of a recall campaign?" - they didnt have much to say after that other than my best bet is to take it up with the manufacturer and they refuse to help as well. This car is a trap.

Was going down the road traveling around 25 mph and engine stalled out of the blue then check engine light came on. After about 15 minutes car finally cranked back up. But when it did the check engine soon light was on had it checked and it came back as a bad cam shaft positioning sensor.

My 2004 nissan sentra has just failed emissions testing for the 3rd time.the paperwork i recieved says the catalytic converter is deteriorating faster than anticipated and turning on the mil. Also, that the owner was notified dec. 5, 2005 however, i did not purchase the car until 2014.

I was driving my car home from work and my engine started to miss fire.about half way home on the pulaski bridge my car shut off. I was able torestart my car while it was in motion as i drive a stick shift car. I still noticed the car was still misfiring so before i drove threw the holland tunnel i pulled over and shut the car off.i gave it a few minutes and restarted my car and it didn't sound as bad so i continue on to manhattan. I got about three blocks from my home and car shut off again. This time it had a engine light. I parked my carwent home and got my obd2 reader and found a code p0301 cylinder one misfire. I pulled the plug to find it was in closed position, so i looked up on the internet and found that this engine has butterfly screws in the intake manifold that come loose and causes this to happen. I took my car to nissan and was charged to replace the spark plug. This did not fix the problem i myself am a mechanic so i removed the intake manifold to find i was missing a screw from the butterfly above cylinder 1. Nissan corporate was called and so far nothing has come out of this. I need help please.

Engine fuel pump failure. Driving on busy highway engine started to stall. Had to use clutch to keep engine running, nearly missing other vehicles trying to maintain control of vehicle trying to restart engine. Immediately took to dealer and fuel pump failure diagnosed. Fuel pump being replaced right now at $700.00.

Driving down the highway in 2015 the car engine would just stop running.my husband called the towing company and me after he pulled over after ten minutes or so and the car started again, we cancelled the tow and he returned home but near the home the car stalled out again.we managed to get it started again and drove it to afirestone repair shop which charged us 280.89 dollars for a crankshaft position sensor.nissan recalled a crank angle sensor for the 2.5 l but we have the 1.8 l engine.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 06v242000 (engine and engine cooling). Approximately two years after the recall repair was performed, the contact noticed blue smoke accompanied by a rattling noise from the exhaust pipe and system. The check engine warning light was also illuminated and the vehicle would sporadically lose power, causing the vehicle to become hesitant upon acceleration attempts. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,700.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving from a stop, the vehicle jerked and the engine rpm's revved rapidly without warning. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.

August 2014:i was driving home from work on a city street doing about 45 when the car just shut off. I was able to coast into a parking lot with the residual power the car had. Luckily no one was next to me. The steering was gone since there was no power. After many attempts, i finally got the car started but had to put the car into neutral whenever i was at a light (because the rpm was at 500 and it kept shutting off when i applied the brake). Managed to make it home. Ended up being the cam/crank sensors that went out. Fast forward to november 2015 and i had to replace the cam sensor again!! car still idles at 500 rpm and always feels like it's going to shut off. Next issue is the power windows. Drivers side gets half-way down, but you have to pull the switch up quickly in order for it to roll back up. Cannot open/close passenger window from drivers side, only passenger side. Next issue is random leak in the trunk where the spare tire is stored. About 1-2 months after we had gotten some heavy rains, i noticed a slight mildew smell in the cabin. I sniffed around, didn't see or feel anything that was wet. Figured it was a cabin filter that needed to be replaced. Another month goes by and i can still faintly smell it. I open my trunk and it's coming from there. I pull everything out of the trunk; nothing feels wet, nothing looked wet, nothing had water stains on it (books, clothes). I pull back the trunk carpet, the trunk stabilizer and i notice there's mold on it and the mdf covering the spare is wet. I pull it off and there was about two inches of water in the spare wheel well! when i was driving to get stuff to clean it, it sounded like i had a kiddie pool in the trunk! to this day, i have no idea how it got in there - again nothing was wet or water-stained in the trunk. Also experienced misfires, fuel gauge (due to fuel pump). I don't feel safe in this car at times.

Nissan 2004 sentra 1.8s had the identical issue as the 2.5 liter engine that has been recalled.after driving for fifteen minutes on the highway every sensor light on the dash came on and the car turned off including power steering.i was able to pull the car off to the shoulder and safely stop the car. The car did not appear to overheat and the temperature gauge was in the acceptable range so i let the car sit for two minutes and i tried to start it again before calling aaa.the car started right up and only the check engine light remained on.i have taken it to my mechanic and the code came back crank shaft position sensor.i was fortunate that i was driving late at night and not during rush hour traffic.a faulty sensor should not cause a complete shut down of the vehicle.

I was driving down the interstate, at 60 mph and the engine dropped to700 rpm and refused to accelerate. I had to pull over, shut off car and repeatedly attempt to start car. This has happened 8 other times in the past month.

In the morning, car took multiple attempts to start. In afternoon, after having sat for an hour, it was again hard to start. Drove approx. 1/2 mile across highway into a parking lot, slowed and car stalled. Restarted after several attempts, drove approx. 1/4 mile and car stalled as i slowed again prior to attempting to turn into parking space. Would not restart until left sit for approx. An hour.

My car usually takes two tries to start.after it warms up and i've been driving, it stalls suddenly, and i'm stranded for several minutes.when it does start up again, it goes a short distance, and as soon as the engine warms up again, it stalls again.today it stalled on the way home, three times, in less than 4 miles.i was left sitting on the side of the road, hoping i wouldn't get hit.i have also had it stall in the middle of a busy intersection, and am very concerned about it stalling when i pull out in front of other traffic to cross a road.i am at risk of a crash because of this.it has stalled whiie driving on the highway, city streets and on rural roads.one night it stalled over a dozen times as i was passing through a bad area of time ten o'clock at night.nissan is going to cost somebody their life if they don't get on this and fix every nissan that is exhibiting these kinds ofsudden stalls.this has been going on since summer 2015 and is getting far worse.i can't afford to pay for a manufacturing defect.this form is insufficient because it is forcing a one date list for problems and this is happening repeatedly.there are no documents to upload, i just sit in the car and wait for it to finally start again.

Vehicle hesitates when starting & stalls out or shuts down when slowing down or coming to a halt.if let to sit for a while it will restart, but has left me stranded multiple times. Crank sensor replaced as well as all fluids. Have had it checked for codes, but nothing shows up. Car was recently purchased in late may 2016. Vendor repaired several items, but now car is out of vendor warranty.

I believe that the engine is unsafe due to a design flaw with the vehicle. The engine blew 2 head gaskets twice. The first time at ~40000 miles, the second at ~144000 miles. The damage was severe enough that the engine had to be replaced on the second incident. Both cases there was no indicaiton of any issues till the incident other than the heater stopped working. None of the gauges showed any difference from normal operation.

I was driving east on i494 near a major interchange, in very heavy traffic. I was in the center lane going approximately 60-65 mph when my engine suddenly quit. I quickly checked the lane on my right and it was clear so i moved over and onto the shoulder. My brakes and steering were going quickly, but i was able to bring the car to a full stop next to the guard rail. I was right next to a two-lane exit to i35, where the traffic was flying past me; several cars almost ran into me, with one extremely distracted driver crossing the line onto the shoulder and heading right at me. If he had not looked up in time i doubt i would be here to report this. I was able to get a tow truck, but traffic was not even slowing or yielding for the tow truck driver. It was an extremely dangerous situation. While waiting for a tow, i was able to restart my car after about 10 minutes, but was too afraid to try driving it in those traffic conditions. The repair shop i went to diagnosed a faulty o2 sensor caused by a leaky flex pipe and wanted over $800 to replace the pipe w/ catalytic converter, gaskets, o2 sensor. And spark plugs. Since my car would start but i did not trust it, i decided to drive home (25 miles) by city streets and back roads. On the way the engine again failed while waiting for a light to change. After 10 minutes it started and i was able to get home. I took it to my mechanic, who fixed the flex pipe. A few days later the engine died again and restarted after another harrowing wait on the side of the road. This time the car gave a code for the crankshaft sensor, which my mechanic replaced. Since then my car has not quit while driving, but does hesitate and i am afraid while driving it. I may have my mechanic replace the camshaft sensor as well, since that is also a known issue. I am supposed to move to california, but don't trust my car to make the trip safely.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact was driving 30 mph when the vehicle stalled abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnostic testing where the mechanic located the failure at the crank shaft position sensor. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted in regards to nhtsa campaign id number: 06v242000 (engine and engine cooling) but was advised that his vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 92,000 and the current mileage was 92,700.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 mph, the vehicle began to jerk and suddenly stalled. The contact was able to maneuver to the side of the road and restart the vehicle after several minutes. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the battery was replaced; the repair did not correct the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the crankshaft was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not included in recall 06v242000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 72,000.

There is an ecm (engine control module) recall on nissan sentras and fronteirs 2003-06.when this was done at the dealership, i was told i needed a new swirl control valve, (a valve directly controlled by the ecm) at a cost of $772.should the swirl valve also been part of this recall?

2004 nissan sentra 1.8l blew head gasket, cylinder 3 at 77000 miles. Engine was well maintained and never overheated. Due to vast number of similar complaints on the internet suspect a defective head gasket was the cause. Can be a safety issue as engine runs on 3 cylinders thus low power. Repair cost was $1200. Opened a case with nissan for assistance and absolutely none was offered. I have never had a head gasket failure on a vehicle and even had one vw running 300+ miles with no head gasket issues. Nissan thus far has been successful in not accepting responsibility for the gasket defect, a typical pattern of auto manufacturers. I am requesting that the nhtsa investigate this costly and potentially safety related defect and require that nissan accept responsibility and provide remediation for its customers.

I was driving on a city road around 40 miles per hour.it stopped while i was driving.the engine light came on immediately, then all warning lights.it would not immediately start, had to leave in the turn lane with flashers on.we came back an hour later, and it started then.the vehicle is an 04 sentra 1.8 s.after reading on the internet about recalls, we called the company, and they informed us there were no recalls on our particular vin number.but the part replaced at our shop was the crankshaft position sensor, the same part that was recalled.

(se-r spec v)numerous instances of engine misfire, usually occurring on throttle tip-in after a tip-out from cruise conditions.duration of misfire anywhere from 5s to 5 minutes.key-off, key-on sometimes rectifies the misfire.diagnostic code of multiple cylinder misfires.has also rarely occurred immediately after engine start.vehicle has had ecu reprogram recall performed.vehicle unable to accelerate when misfire occurs at low engine speed.misfire event can occur multiple times in a week, or none for six months.failure is so intermittent and non-repeatable that no effect troubleshooting can be performed.

My 2004 nissan sentra ser spec v showed the service engine soon light on august 28, 2007.a certified mechanic used a diagnostic tool to determine that the car had a malfunctioning crankshaft position sensor.upon doing some research on the internet, i found that nissan has issued a recall on some 2003 and 2004 sentras and altimas with this problem.however, when i contacted my local dealership, i was informed that my car was not eligible for the recall warranty work and that the extended warranty i was given at the time of purchase does not cover this particular problem.if nissan has acknowledged this problem and my car is having the problem, why do they refuse to fix it?

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated the engine stalled, causing the vehicle to lose power and come to a complete stop, while driving 65 miles per hour. The vehicle would not restart unless the engine cooled down. The failure occurred five times, and during the failure most of the warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who stated the crank shaft position sensor circuit malfunctioned. The manufacturer was contacted, and informed the contact the vin did not qualify for the nhtsa recall campaign id number :06v242000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The contact suggested that the extreme heat advisory may have contributed to the failure. The failure mileage was 99,300. The current mileage was 99,379.

My 2004 nissan sentra engine would cut off while driving at various speeds.this would cause me to almost get into a crash on the highway.mine is a 1.8 liter engine, and the recall was for the 2.5 liter engine, and just as many 1.8's have been having this problem.had to pay $200 out of pocket to fix this.then after i get the car fixed, the check engine light will not come off, and the mechanic says, no code is coming up for anything.i am scared to death to drive my car.

Most of the time when i try to turn on the car i have to try 2 or 3 times in order for it to turn.the car sounds like it will turn on but it will not, therefore i have to continue turning the key and try again.sometimes when i accelerate the car will not response, it will take a while to do so.

While driving my 2004 nissan sentra ser 2.5, the car suddenly stopped for no apparent reason. Fortunately, the car following me did not collide with me. It would not restart immediately, but did start within about 10 minutes.i had a computer reading done today, and the code was p0340.the parts person mentioned that nissan vehicles had previously had a recall for cam shaft sensors.i researched the internet and did find the exact description of my problem.i had not received any notice of that recall (campaign number 06v242000).; i would have answered that recall.now, my question is this:what can be done to correct this defect in my car?

Dt*:the contact stated while the vehicle is at an idle in heavy traffic, the engine stalled and would not restart.the vehicle was pushed aside out of traffic, and after an extended period of time, the engine restarted.the vehicle was seen by a dealer who replaced the crank sensor.after the replacement, the problem persisted.the dealer could not find a probelm. For the past four years, i have been having a recurring problem with my 2004 nissan sentra. Suddenly and without warning, the engine stops working and simply fails while i am driving. Several times, it has happened when i am driving on busy roads and the highway. Most of the time, it has happened while i am driving in and out of parking lots, at low speeds. I have taken the car to nissan service stations in both california and oregon, but the problem continues to occur. The computer chip has been replaced several times and in august 2009, the computer was replaced. However, it happened again. Nissan said that all was fine, but again last week on friday oct 2nd the problem happened. The car overheated and had to be towed to beaverton nissan (oregon). They are replacing the wires to the computer, but i think that there is a manufacturing defect with this car.

2004 nissan sentra lost all power while driving. Consumer states that the vehicle completely shut down while driving 65 mph. Mechanic determined the failure was the crankshaft sensor.after the crankshaft sensor was replaced, the engine light illuminated and the vehicle would idle rough until it warmed up.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was determined the vehicle had a warped head. The mechanic informed the consumer there was a known problem that defective head bolts could cause the head to warp. The consumer believed the problems he experienced were related to the recall. The consumer contacted nissan and provided his vehicle identification number. Nissan stated his vin was not included in the recall.

While driving 35 mph engine stalled. As a result, vehicle lostpower.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While the contact was driving approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled unexpectedly without warning. The contact was able to coast to his residence. The engine failed to restart even though there were several attempts; however;within three days the vehicle started. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they detected that the ecm box corroded as a result of water accumulation. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect. The failure mileage was 83,742.

1) car began to run rough/surging/stalling for no apparent reason.2) something has entered the engine causing marks on piston top/cylinder bores and damaging the spark plug.3) brought car to dealer and was told spark plugs and air filter were to blame. I changed spark plugs and air filter. This allowed car to run better but still runs rough/surges/won't idle properly. Brought car to local garage and they inspected cylinder bores and found damage to piston and a 2nd piston/spark plug. They informed me that there is a recall for sentra's but that my car was not included. This recall covers screws falling into motor. Called the dealer and was told the car needs to be reset because of the air filter was not an original replacement brand filter. When told about damages in motor there was no reply. When asked if there is a recall for my vehicle i was told there wasn't one. Called nissan and was told about a recall and that my car is covered but after further review they changed their mind and said that my car was not covered. My car is the same make/model/engine size as the recalled vehicles. I'm trying to get my car included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While the contact was driving 55mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. Driving vehicle @ 60 mph on highway and the vehicle sputtered and jerked several times and then ran ok. Stopped and parked the car for four hours and then drove home and it did it again at 55 mph. 5-13-08it happened two more times at low speeds and actually died. It started back up and then ran fine. 5-31-08dealership stated that the problem is the crankshaft sensor.

I received a notice from nissan stating that my vehicle was to be brought into a dealership and an ecm reprogramming was to be performed to correct the crankshaft position sensor issue.i did so back in january of 2008.my ecm never emitted any sort of error code, but i was having spontaneous stalling approximately twice a week.after the reprogramming, the problem stopped until approximately a month ago, when it stalled very hard while i was driving down the freeway. The "check engine" light came on, and i assumed it was just a misfire of the sparkplugs.it began stalling spontaneously at a rate of approximately 1-2 times per day then.three weeks ago, i replaced the spark plugs, and took it to autozone to have the code checked.it stated that my crankshaft position sensor was faulty.i do not believe that a reprogramming of the computer will take care of the problem caused by the manufacturer's defect.i am worried for my safety while driving my vehicle, and would like nissan to compensate me for the replacement of my vehicle's crankshaft position sensor.

2004 nissan sentra 1.8 i just hit 2 years with this car and still have another 2 years. Car does not start on first try. It over heats,it dies while in use, recently it started jerking really bad and rpm shot to 4,000 and wouldn't go past 20mph. I already had a new fuel pump put in and a new crankshaft sensor and new spark plugs. I just found out it has a blown head gasket. I cant affordthis im a single mother of 3. Rack in pinion needs to be replaced even the mass air flow. Who knows what else?

Same as 06v242000, but with nissan sentra 1.8 (2004). Engine shuts off suddenly, rendering power steering and engine dead, frequently at high speeds. Very dangerous, but dealership say not part of nissan recall 06v242000, so driver must pay for repair.

Car engine stalls while running.. It doesn't matter what speed i am driving, the car will just shut off and i lose power steering.luckily the brakes still work so i was able to pull over.once pulled over i turn the key off and start the car back up again and it works fine.this has happened a repeated number of times.i am sure it is the throttle position sensor or ecm like the 2006 recall of the altima's and sentras.

At first my car was hesitating while i was driving and then the check engine light came on.i was having trouble starting it and it would stall occasionally.i took it to a shop and the problem was resolved for a few weeks.today my car stalled twice in one minute and would not start back up.i managed to pull it into a parking space at work and i tried to start it again in the afternoon.i took a few tries and then it stalled when i tried to back out.my car was shaking and it had a bad smell.i decided to park it and i will have it towed to a shop tomorrow.

2004 nissan sentra.born on date of april 2003.bought in oct 2004.currently has 4495 miles.car stalled twice.brought to dealership on 04/02/2004 to check for problem (4331 miles).no failure codes indicated in memory of computer.on april 8th the car was involved in an accident.son has memory loss from stop sign to when car came to rest.he does not have full memory recall.it is coming back but is spotty.he currently recalls talking to a paramedic, a small bumping sensation and dashboard lights coming on (like when the car stalled before).is there any other information about these cars?i know there is a recall for cars built from jan 2000 to march 2003 for cases of stalling.we got this car brand new.only nissan has performed any mntc.oil change.

I own a nissan sentra 2004 1.8. Car currently has 48,7000 miles,on feb 2010 check engine light came on,i checked ang gave me a code that said random misfire, then i replaced spark plugs and i notice #2 was a little bit different from the others,so i replaced the coil too on #2.car was kind a shaking when starting the car for about 5 to 8 seconds and then would run fine.i clear the code and stayed off for a few days and come back on for another few days, after 3 or 5 months when off for almost6 months and then came back again,i replaced spark plug #2 and found some antifreeze smell on the bad spark plug i pulled out,car still does the same but now i noticed i loosing antifreeze, but there is no external leaks, talking to the dealer they said is common on this cars with this mileage to have this problem and have the head gasket replaced to fix the problem, but i don,t agreed,it has to be some kind a the problem because many people having problems with the same car.if i want to buy another car i am very sure it won,t be a nissan because they do not accept responsibility for what the built.06/29/2011 kirkland wa.

My 2004 nissan sentra 1.8 has been towed 3 times in the past 6 months. It has a blown head gasket. This is apparently a manufacturer's defect as i have seen 30 complaints with the same problem.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that when traveling at various unknown speeds or when sitting idle at a traffic light, the vehicle would stall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was also taken to an independent mechanic for a replacement of the head gasket and fuel pump. She was notified by the dealer that the manufacturer advised them to replace the timing belt in an attempt to correct the failure. The contact did not believe that neither the dealer nor manufacturer was able to accurately diagnose the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000 and the approximate current mileage was 74,000.

On 6/10/11 while i was driving my 2004 nissan sentra 1.8l, the service engine light came on and the car lost power. I could not go no faster than 30 mph. I pulled over and had my car towed to the local dealer. They said that the head gasket was leaking internally into the #3 cylinder and that the spark plugs were unremovable. They said that one of spark plugs were fused inside the cylinder. The spark plugs were replaced at the same dealer in april 2010. At a cost of $1002.08 they replaced the cylinder head gasket and valve cover gasket. I could not afford the extra $800.00 to fix the spark plug problem. There was no warning before this happened other than the service engine light coming on at the same time the car lost power. I was driving on a state highway going 55 mph when this happened. I have read on here several complaints about the head gasket problem and cars losing power. My sentra has 128,900 miles on it when the problem occurred. I keep my oil changed every 3 months and keep up with the general maintenance on my car. Since this happened all of a sudden i do believe there is a safety issue here. If i had been in the interstate (which i would have been if this happened 20 miles later) i would not have been able to pull over or avoid an accident.

I have a 1.8 liter engine (nissan sentra) and it is experiencing the same problems that are listed on nhtsa campaign 06v242000 for the 2.5l engine.the 11/12/2007 is the third sensor failure and engine cutoff since june 2007.the dealership has replaced the same sensor each time, and i have been lucky to have been on fairly empty freeways at the time of the failure or i would have been in an accident.

I have a 2004 nissan sentra (1.8 engine, auto trans).on two occasions i have experienced the engine unexpectedly revving up while stopped at an intersection with my foot on the brake and not the accelerator.several months ago, i was stopped at a traffic light, car in drive, foot on brake.the engine began steadily increasing the idle speed and the engine revved (with my foot ton the brake the whole time) to i would guess 2500-3000 rpms.just as quickly, revving ceased and the engine returned to a normal idle speed.the increase and decrease in idle speed probably occurred over about 5-8 seconds.about two weeks ago, i had a similar episode, again while stopped at a light, with the car in drive and my foot on the break.this time, the engine began to rev at an even higher rpm rate.i put the car in neutral and the car revved violently at a rate that must have been approaching full throttle.it sort of revved full and then backed off slightly several times before i turned the ignition off.once the engine shut off, i restarted the car and everything was back to normal.i took the car to the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem.they adjusted the idle but i have no confidence that the problem is resolved.this is a safety issue, it is my daughter's car, and i am concerned.i suspect a computer failure of some kind.nissan must be pressured to resolve this issue.

My 04 nissan sentra 2.5l qr25 engine is eating oil 4.5 quarts in 300 miles due to a precat failure on oem header which when failed on deceleration sucks material back into the engine causing piston rings and inner seals to fail and can lead to engine fire. I have found this info also on other model sentras too.

At 65mph the engine shutoff. After that incident the engine shuts down frequently and only starts after 10min approx after repeated engine cranking.

Engine shuts off while driving.started a month ago, has been happening once a week but getting more frequent.was told it was the crankshaft sensor.there is a recall on the 2.5l not the 1.8l that i own.

I was driving down the road after having the car repaired twice already and then bolts fell out of the engine.this caused the car to stall the same as when the catalyst was burned up.the catalyst had been replaced along with the engine.i still have problems to this day with funny smells and rattles.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. Whenever the contact drove the vehicle at any speed including approximately 45mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off. The contact also noticed that the vehicle stalled occasionally. The vehicle was not diagnosed by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 111000.

While driving my 2004 nissan sentra (1.8 liter 4 cyl fuel injected) at low speeds it has stopped running with no warning.this has happened 5 times over the last 5 months, with the last three times happening in the last two days.obviously this is a dangerous situation.when it's happened i've turned off the car and waited a few minutes.if i start the car too quickly the problem immediately resurfaces.there is a recall for this exact problem for the 2004 nissan sentra with a 2.5 liter engine.the same problem also occurred in a friend's car last year who has the exact same car, bought at the same dealership, as mine.

One day my check engine light came on. I own an obd2 diagnostic reader and it gave me the code p0335 which translates to crankshaft position sensor a circuit malfunction. I did some research and there was a recall on the 2002 and 2003, and later included some 2004 models of my car (mine is a 2004) for the same failure. I called nissan and they looked up my vin number and told me there was no open recalls for my car. I purchased a new sensor and installed it, cleared the check engine light, and checked for any remaining codes. None were present. I tested the old sensor according to the nissan repair manual's method and it tested good. A day after i replaced the sensor the check engine light came on again with the same failure code. I called nissan again and explained my situation to them and they still told me my car was not in the recall. So far what i have experienced is a momentary loss of power under certain driving conditions like going uphill at approximately 2000 rpm. Also it does not want to start sometimes, which is becoming more frequently, and according to forum sites i've visited is directly related to this.

Check engine light came on right after i purchased car -dealer kept the car for a few months and check engine light problem repaired...came on again and again and again-dealer kept saying they repaired the problem but i needed a new motor 10/2007 -the car stayed at the dealer until 1/2008 that is when i could pay the $5800. Cost of a new motor (est was $2400.00) check engine light came on again 6/2008 dealer repaired -sd "needed computer update"-check engine light on again and running ragged again 7/30/08. I want to be reimbursed for the engine replacement and for nissan to buy the car back at trade in value and i will never purchase another nissan.

Situation recurring: long crank time before engine turns over and starts.this situation occurs when vehicle has been running for thirty minutes or more and is turned off and turned right back on as well as when vehicle sits overnight and is started in the morning.problem!

While driving my car at slow speeds the engine died.this resulted in reduction in steering and braking ability.no accident or injury occurred though.engine would crank, but not spark plugs would not fire, so car could not be started and had to be pushed to the curb to get it out of traffic.car was towed to mechanic who replaced the camshaft timing detector and reprogrammed the computer which solved the problem.old part was disposed.

Mt wife's car suddenly died without warning. The dealership told us it was a defective crankshaft position sensor. It was a $589.00 repair. I know that nissan has had other model years with recalls over sensors causing sudden engine loss. This incident with my wife happenedwhile she was entering a freeway on ramp. She and her coworkers were towed back to her office. The next day the car started right up and was running fine. I drove it to the shop but it suddenly died after running for about 3 minutes. Luckily i was on a side street.

We had problems in order to turn it on. Thencar suddenlystop running in the freeway. We were lucky we did not have an accident. Then the light of the engine went on. I took it to my mechanic. He told me about the recall r0606 for nissans sentra 2004 engine 2.5 lttook to the nearest dealer to have my car repair, they did not want to repair unless a pay for it. I had to pay because they claim that the bin was nat in their computer, y told them that i was going to complaint to nhtsa they told me that i can do wherever i want. So i pay 275.00 dlls to have repaired.

Please refer to nissan campaign i.d. # p5202. I have a 2004 nissan sentra se-r spec v. At the end of august my car developed stalling and then outright cylinder (1) failure. Spark plug was removed and found to be extremely pitted and ground strap was hammered closed. Replaced plug, vacuumed cylinder and car ran fine for two weeks. The same problem developed on the way to work and spark plugs were removed and a second cylinder was found to have identical symptoms. The private mechanic i use advised me that there wasa recall on this engine (ref. Above). I then drove vehicle to the local nissan dealer where they verified that the power valve was missing two of eight screws and this was the most probable cause of the cylinder failures. Filed claim with nissan customer service and was informed by regional representative that my vindid not fall into the vin recall range and that they would not honor the recall on my engine. As such, none of the recall troubleshooting was performed on my engine. I feel that my expenses should be reimbursed and, if required, my engine replaced free of charge since i have already suffered from the failure described in the recall. I'm sure that the service life of the pistons, valves, cylinder walls, and engine head associated with the failed spark plugs has been substantially reduced due to the pounding they took from the steel power valve screws. I believe that nissan knows that they have the identical problem with other vin 2.5 liter engines and are refusing to fix them because they don't want to accept corporate liability for a known defect in even more of their engines. I have written to carlos ghosen and given nissan an opportunity to respond with no results to date. Please help me obtain the same rights and benefits of other nissan owners who fell under the protection of recall campaign p5202. Thank you.

In my 2004 nissan sentra se-r spec v with a 2.5l engine/manual transmission, at about 69k miles the car suddenly experienced unstable engine idling and significant power loss.first mechanic found loose metal pieces in the intake manifold area, along with spark plug one fouled.metal pieces were removed and a new spark plug was installed.car ran okay for a few weeks, the same symptoms occurred. Mechanic removed intake manifold and found two power valves and their screws obliterated and scattered throughout the compartment in dozens of loose pieces.metal pieces removed, power valves replaced, screws replaced and secured with lock-tite.symptoms occurred for a third time recently.i went to the nissan dealership and spoke to the service advisors; they ran the vin and found a recall on 04 sentra 2.5l engine vehicles, specifically the power valve screws coming loose, causing unstable engine idling and power loss.

Just purchased my 2004 nissan sentra two weeks ago. The service engine light came on after i came home and remained on. The saleman told me he didn't think my car would pass an emission test. This leads me to believe he sold the car knowing there was a problem. I am taking into the nissan dealer in olympia but i told him i am not paying anything period. The car has only 22,000 miles and is under warranty but i feel he deceived me. The sales person is jay rolfs from associate fleets in seattle, wa.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra.the contact stated that the catalytic converter failed and was replaced by the dealer.ever since the converter was changed, the vehicle has been draining the oil and sucking debris into the motor.the vehicle was not included in a recall.the contact wants nissan to pay for the repairs since this is a safety issue and there is already a recall for the identical failure.the current mileage was 72,000 and failure mileage was 71,638.

Updated 09/13/06.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While driving approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled without warning. After multiple attempts, the vehicle restarted and the "check engine" warning indicator illuminated. An independent diagnostic test displayed a code of p0335, which indicated that the crankshaft positioning sensor potentially caused the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling). The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

Air conditioning compressor will engage (a/c will turn on) regardless of ambient air temperature, when one or both of the following conditions are met: 1. When the interior cabin temperature dial is set to any temperature, including hot (red area all the way to the right), and the windshield defrost option is not set (a/c should not be on, but will turn on), or 2. The windshield defrost option on the air handler dial is set once, the air conditioning will turn on, and stay on regardless of any temperature dial change or other setting change the driver performs as long as the cabin blower stays on (selected speed from 0 through 4).in the best case, this will cause poor fuel economy due to the fact that the air conditioning is running without need in cold weather.in the worst case, instant fogging may occur on the interior side of the windshield as well as driver and passenger side door glass, which could lead to poor visibility and eventually a crash.using heat settings in the winter at the same time the air conditioning is engaged will cause abnormally high humidity levels in the cabin.consumer has experienced this several times since december has been the coldest month of ownership yet, and has resolved this problem by disconnecting the 12v-14vdc line that engages a/c compressor just for cold weather driving.consumer secured the line using 2 plastic wire ties, securing it away from the automatic fan and the heat shield on the exhaust manifold to avoid an electrical malfunction.line will be reconnected during warmer months.

I own a 2004 nissan sentra.my cd sticks in the cd player and can never eject it out.after search for solutions online, it seems many people who own the same model have the same problem.

Check engine light came on, gas surges out of tank when filling onto people, even when tank is empty.

Upon re-fueling my vehicle, the gasoline always comes right back out. "service engine soon" light is on. This is a serious hazard as gasoline gets everywhere and requires at least 10 minutes to refuel.

Most of the time when i try to turn on the car i have to try 2 or 3 times in order for it to turn.the car sounds like it will turn on but it will not, therefore i have to continue turning the key and try again.sometimes when i accelerate the car will not response, it will take a while to do so.

When filling up, the gas tank overflows and shoot out gas everywhere.

The last few times i have tried to pump gas . It spills out of the fill pipe after a few seconds of fueling. I am afraid of going to the gas station and filling the gas as it is very dangerous not only for me and the car but also to the gas station and people in the vicinity. Your immediate attention to this issue will be greatly appreciated. Also please refer to the following webiste who are facing similar issues: http://x.nissanhelp.com/forums/sentra/3766-2004-sentra-1-8s-gas-spills-out-when-pumping.html.

Engine does not start until after many cranks most of the times. The engine maintenance light is on & diagnostic code is 1446. When fill in the fuel tank the gasoline start to overflow, therefore i have to go slowly which takes me 10-15 minutes to fill in the tank. I took the car to my mechanic & he told me he has to try to replace the evap vent control valve & see if the problem will go away. I'm not sure what to do, since then i've been reading on line about it, it seems to me there are other consumers like me have the same problem!!!

After driving my 2004 nissan sentra for awhile and shutting it off the engine will not start on the first try. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries to get it started. Also, if i turn off all the accessories it does start right up.

I have a 2004 nissan sentra, the gas gauge is reading wrong despite my attempts to correct it.i have been fearful that one day i will run out of gas in the middle of nowhere or for the car to just break down.i have read that many people are having similar problems with their nissan, this seems to be a on going problem for this manufacturer.

Nissan sentra 2004 model - manufacturer defect -recall required.dear, this is regarding my sentra car - doing service only with nissan dealer.took the car 3 times to dealer for the same problem - only on the 3rd time they could find the problem. Seems they never came across this type of problem before.brake booster does not send fluid to brake -stalls the car middle of the freeway/highway from 65/55miles to 5 miles - suddenly comes sudden halt in highway. Gave full acceleration, it doesn't move more than 5 miles/hr. Returned to car dealer again. Avoided several accidents. My services charges were $1,200 - which includes fuel system replacement, brake pads, rotors - at early stage - @39700 miles.very bad experience with nissan for the first time - i had altima before.it is a total manufacturer defect. I am worried as my teen age daughter and wife are driving this car. Informed nissan, they said it is normal/common defect.

Nissan sentras, 2002-2006, have a perpetual problem with long engine cranks before the engine will start and is detailed in tsb number ntb05-052a. The remedy for this problem is to install part numbers 22670-8u70c and 17342-01a00, which is a fuel pump repair kit and fuel tank gasket. The long cranks can cause premature failure of the engine starter and possible overheating. When nissan customer service was contacted with this issue, they stated this is not a known issue because a recall was never announced even though they produced a tsb. They refused to take responsibility for an evident design flaw which prompted a repair kit be produced to remedy the situation. They do not stand by their product and provide a recall which is needed.

I haveproblem with the fueling of the car, it started around may 2009 and my service engine light has been on since march 2008 and just yesterday i checked out the code at one of repair shop it is indeed p1446.

Ever since i bought my car in aug. 2004 it has had a long crank problem. I took it back to the dealership not long after i bought the car for this problem and was told that there was nothing wrong with the car. They now tell my that the fuel pump is losing pressure and i need to have a fuel pump repair kit installed on my car at a cost of $550.00 to me. I had my car in the shop for another problem when they told me that i needed this repair kit for a long crank problem because the car does not start when you first turn the key. The same problem that i have had with the car since i bought it. I do not think i should have to pay for this repair since it is a problem that i have tried to get them to fix when it was under warranty.

2004 nissan sentra, when filling gas tank fuel leaks out.happen every time you put gas in your car.

Upon re-fueling my vehicle, the gasoline comes right back out."service engine soon" light is on with a code of p1446. It is defined as "evap canister vent controlvalve (closed)".

Faulty fuel pump on 2004 nissan sentra , noted by nissan since they issued a tecnichal service bullitin and a repair kit for the pump for sale for well over $200 u.s. But failed to issue a recall for this issue which leads to poor fuel pressure and hard to start conditions.

This 2004 nissan sentra 1.8s has had issues when refueling ... The tank is hard to fill as station nozzles do not permit refueling the engine maintenance light is on & diagnostic code is 1446. When fill in the fuel tank the gasoline start to overflow, therefore i have to go slowly which takes me 10-15 minutes to fill in the tank this will be the second time i will have to have this repaired on the nissanengine does not start until after many cranks most of the times.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra.the contact stated that the fuel release valve caused fuel to spew out of the fuel tank when refueling. The contact called the dealer regarding the fuel system and the dealer advised that the vent control needed to be replaced.the contact did not have the vent control valve replaced. The failure mileage was 125,000. The vin was not available. Updated 12/12/11 updated 12/13/11

Refueling:this 2004 nissan sentra 1.8s has had issues when refueling. The tank is not properly vented thus leading to a rush of pressure once the fuel cap is opened. This results in gasoline rushing up through the filler neck and spilling out. In addition, the tank is hard to fill as station nozzles do not permit refueling if the tank is not venting correctly while fueling; the station pump automatically stops fueling. This is a hazard as raw gasoline and outside environments do not relate. A simple google search on "04 sentra fueltank" will return hundreds if not thousands of owners with the 2004's who complain about the same exact issue regarding the venting of the tank. The 2005 models were recalled but nissan left the 2004 owners aside; they know the 2004's have the same issue as the 2005's that were recalled.

In september of 2011 i started to have a problem fueling my car.as soon as i begin putting fuel in, it starts spitting fuel back out.my service engine light has been on since then and just yesterday i checked out the code at my friend's house - it is indeed p1446.after more investigation on line, it looks like a vent control valve needs to be replaced.i'm not sure why this isn't a recall issue.it's dangerous and expensive to fix.after more research, i found that there have been numerous reports of the same problem....even one that caused a fire that severely burned a mother and child.i checked for any recalls on sentras on the website but i only got 1 recall which applies to 2.5l engine versions. No recalls were listed for this problem.i am a widow with three children and don't have the money to make this repair.i need your help.please.

Experienced delay in starting. Engine took forever to turnover. Diagnostic details revealed nothing wrong, in fact the car would start normally whenever the dealer tried. Problem continued and after two trips to the dealership--they refused to believe that there was a problem--i was told to leave it overnight. They finally experienced the problem themselves. They pin-pointed the problem--the fuel pump was faulty. It was replaced under warranty and problem ceased.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. He made three attempts to start the vehicle and was unsuccessful. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer repaired thefuel pump as identified in the technical service bulletin. The failure mileage was 35900 and the current mileage was 36300.updated 6/25/08 the fuel pump was repaired due to low fuel pressure. Updated 06/25/08.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While driving approximately 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the technicianreplaced the vapor canister at an expense of $362, 00. She contacted the manufacturer in reference to reimbursement. The manufacturer took a report number 6668234.she was advised that her vin was not included in recall 05v269000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage), so the reimbursement claimed was denied. The failure mileage was 114,378. The current mileage was 117,000.

Vehicle would start to leak gas whenever the tank would be full and parked for more then few hours.there already is a recall (nhtsa campaign id number: 05v269000 ) for the same vehicle but for 2005 models.the fact that i'm experiencing the same exact issue makes me believe that there is a higher number of cars that are also affected.

I have a 2004 nissan sentra that has the "service engine soon" light on.i was unable to fill up my fuel tank because the gas spilled out, even though the tank registers 1/4 to 1/2 full. The gasoline starts to overflow, therefore i have to go slowly which takes me 10-15 minutes to fill in the tank.also the engine does not start until after many cranks most of the times when the service engine light is on.

There is an ecm (engine control module) recall on nissan sentras and fronteirs 2003-06.when this was done at the dealership, i was told i needed a new swirl control valve, (a valve directly controlled by the ecm) at a cost of $772.should the swirl valve also been part of this recall?

After driving my car and turning the engine off for a few minutes or a few hours, the car will not start until the second or third turn of the ignition. The dealer replaced the fuel pump; however, within five months, the problem began again.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while fueling the tank, the fuel gauge failed to provide accurate reading fuel levels. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags) and stated that the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that when refueling, gasoline would overflow and the shut off valve would not stop gasoline from pouring out of the filler neck valve. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.the vin was unavailable.

Tom wood nissan carmel in refused to honor recall #report receipt date: jul 07, 2006 nhtsa campaign number: 06v242000 component(s): engine and engine cooling

When refueling my vehicle the gasoline would spray back out of the fuel fill neck. The first time it happened i removed the pump nozzle and the gasoline sprayed back with enough force to hit me in the face. Gasoline got in both my eyes and mouth. Being in need of contacts i had to rush into the gas station to take them out and from there i had to get myself and my car picked up and brought home since my contacts were ruined.

Passenger rear door actuators doesn't work and not able to open the door. The door has power lock/unlock systems. It is a 2004 nissan sentra 2.5s. It is high security issue. The passenger is stuck inside, in case of emergency the door can't opened. Because it is in the lock position at all the time.

Interior power lock rocker switch fails to engage door locks on all four doors, and actually opens the door locks instead of closing them.as i have said on my previous complaint, if you want to stay alive, stay away from nissan cars and trucks.

Backing down a hilly driveway in neutral brakes went out. This lead to running into a guard rail. Emergency brake was applied afterwards to stop the rolling. Brakes worked fine on flat surface. Minor neck injury was sustained. Parts have not been repaired will contact maufacturer.

Purchased a 2004 nissan sentra brand new with 137 miles on it, 2 days after purchase, heard noise coming from car whenever changing into gear, (automatic trans) reported it to local nissan dealership, scheduled service appointment, took in for service, found that transmission was defective, replacement unit was ordered, was instructed to continue to use the vehicle until parts arrived, car has stalled in traffic, while traveling down the road at 45mph, and has also stalled sitting still at a light.the dealership replaced defective transmission with a refurbished unit, all seemed fine for a few hundred miles, now same noises and complications from original transmission are in this unit, along with other problems.ow vehicle has to go in for service again on replacement transmission.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra.the contact stated that her vehicle would only drive forward, not in reverse.a few days following the failure, the vehicle would not move at all.she placed the gear in drive and the vehicle sounded as if it were in neutral.when she placed the gear in the "l" position, the vehicle would only move forward.the vehicle has been in the shop for approximately two months.the mechanic stated that she needed a new transmission.the contact stated that a two year old vehicle should not be experiencing transmission failure.the current and failure mileages were 65,000.

I own a 2004 nissan sentra, only a few months after i purchased it brand new, i began experiencing problems with the engine.they have since put in a new transmission and just today the car broke down again, the transmission seems to have failed yet again.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra.the contact stated while attempting to drive out of a parking space the vehicle would not shift into reverse gear.the contact was able to drive the vehicle to a local mechanic who stated the transmission needed to be replaced.the contact called the manufacturer regarding a recall and stated there were no recalls. The failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 08/24/11 the consumer stated she has been experiecing first gear issues for at least a year, until the reverse gear finally went out. Updated 06/13/12

Dt: several weeks before the accident the suspension felt weak. Right before the accident a large sound was heard and a bumpwas felt from under the car. The consumer tried to turn leftbutthe car would only go straight and the consumer ran into some trees/ a barbed wire fence, and a ditch. The axle and disc broke.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While the vehicle was not in use, the driver and passenger side air bags deployed independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing where it was diagnosed that the air bags and passenger side seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000. Updated 09/01/15*ljupdated 12/4/2015

Dt*:the contact stated a steer entered the path of the vehicle while traveling 50 mph.the brakes were applied, however the steer was hit and it rolled onto the windshield.the passenger seat belt buckle assembly failed.upon impact with the steer, the vehicle was rear ended by another vehicle.the driver received minor injuries and the passenger received injuries as a result of the seat belt failure.the police filed a report at the scene.the dealer and manufacturer were alerted.the insurance agency is scheduled to inspect the vehicle later this week.updated 5/23/2006 -

Drivers seat detaches from sliding rail or bolt in floorboard seat mechanism in the foward and possibly other, positions. To correct failure i slid seat bottom back and then foward into a different position and it secures until the seat is moved again.

On 24th of dec 2014 while driving on a four lane hwy at about 8pm my brakes got really hard then i saw my brakes light came on it was not a good feeling thanks god the street light was green cause if it was red we would be having a dir convo right now, anyway i pulled in a parking lot at maybe 15 to 20 mph then i put it in park pull up the hand brakes and turn off the car, i stayed there for about an hour and half then i tried the car again it came on like nothing happen..............am telling u i don't wish this on anyone.....when i first got the car in 2007 it shut down on me i said i maybe did something i still can't figure it out but it never shut down again.

On 12/08/14, i was driving through i-85 n. At one point i changed a lane towards my left and needed to straighten my car to that lane. But surprisingly the car wouldn't got straightened and steering had no impact/control over the car wheels. As a result my car hit the median of the hwy and after that i was still trying to put it back in the lane. But i had no control on it. It was shaking and speeding up; hit the median with the left middle and again after traveling a few feet hit the median with rear left. At that point both airbags popped out and car changed direction ( from my diagonal left to diagonal right). And it took me to all the way (6 lane)across the other side of the freeway and hit the median on that side again with the front right and straight front. After that the car finally stopped. It was all smoky and the car door wouldn't open. I squeezed myself out through the approx. Six inches opening. I was so scared and still so much depressed that i don't know what to do. I was fortunate enough that i didn't hit anybody or i got hit by any other car or when the car was dragging me to the other side of the highway i didn't go under any trailer. My biggest question is why the steering stopped working and lost control over the wheel?whose fault was this? and finally i got citation from dekalb police for failure to maintain lanes. When i asked the police officer, she told me that i have to prove it that it was a mechanical error. Then the citation will be taken off. There was no check engine sign or anything that i felt unusual. So please take a look into the matter and let me know so that i feel a little better!

My car hit a truck going 25-30 mph.i was on a city street.my breaks did not stop me on time. New break pads were just replaced. The breaks just didn't work right. Took too long to come to a complete stop. I tested my breaks on my other car to see if there was any difference in stopping and i would have stopped in my other car on time.breaks just took to long to come to a complete stop on the nissan.

While driving at any speed consumer heard a loud noise coming from the rear.consumer was able to maintained control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined thatbrake system needed to be cleaned.

20 feet after pulling out of the driveway, suddenly there was a vibration in the steering, the brakes failed to function, the vehicle veered to the left and went into a ditch and impacted a sewer drain. The driver was severely burned by the airbags when they deployed. The insurance company totaled the vehicle. The cause of the above failures is undetermined.

Car in front of me stopped at approx 30 ft, i put on brakes but they did not work, pumped brakes still did not work missed rear of car ,a car cut in front of me left brake locked went left put on brakes still did not work hit side of another vehicle.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph in rainy weather, the vehicle began spinning suddenly (the contact could not figure out why) and crashed into a guardrail twice. There were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed. A police report was filed. The contact called the dealer who stated that they had no complaints about the failure. The manufacturer had not been notified. The vin was unavailable. The current and failure mileages were approximately 40,000.updated 03/24/11*ljupdated 04/01/11the consumer also stated the air bags failed to deploy. Updated 04/29/11

It's been falling apart every year no matter what i do to protect it

I was involved in a motor vehicle accident on march 19, 2007.i was driving a 2004 nissan sentra.as i was leaving work on this day, i was pulling out to turn left onto the street.i had looked both ways twice before pulling out into traffic because the street was very busy.the person in the vehicle closest to me motioned for me to pull out.i did, but did not see the car coming that hit me.i was hit on the driver's side and suffered a cracked hip and pelvic bone as a result of the impact.i spent 2 1/2 days in the hospital and 6 weeks on crutches.approximately a month prior to my accident, my insurance company raised my rate $10 a month because the safety rating on the car was a zero.when i contacted nissan directly to report the incident and asked for compensation from nissan for my replacement vehicle (my sentra was totaled in the accident), their response was to dismiss me and to tell me there was nothing they could do for me.i feel that nissan is responsible for my injuries due to the fact that they manufactured an unsafe vehicle.they refuse to accept responsibility for their failure in manufacturing.i have contacted several attorneys in an attempt to get a case against nissan, but have been told by each one that a case would cost more than it would be worth.is there nothing that can be done to hold nissan responsible for my injuries??

Nissan sentra 2004 has the following "problems" when trying to start car, have to pump gas and turn the key 2-3 times in weather ranging from 50f to 100f.also, the rubber on window seal is turning/bending. I put # of failures as 365 since it is an every day occurrence.

My front right strut failed for no apparent reason after only 5 months and 11,000 miles. There was no reason for the failure and the driving conditions were normal highway miles. This failure left the car very unstable and impossible to manuvere in an emergency situation. No crash occured because i started driving a rental car after the failure. The part was replaced under warranty and the dealer kept the old strut.

The car shuts off while driving

On major interstate (i85n), coming home for christmas when car cut off all of a sudden without warning.fortunately i was able to pull off to the shoulder without causing a major accident.

I just want to add a report of (so-called) sudden acceleration syndrome that occurred to me on thanksgiving day of november 2007 then again within a month or two after the nissan dealer said it was due to a badly positioned floor mat. The second time it happened, the dealer said it was a "dirty throttle" that required $75 "throttle service," -- a cleaning -- to which i readily consented. The acceleration problem hasn't reoccurred (knock on wood). In both instances, the car sped forward when my foot was off the brake so quickly i barely had time to react. Fortunately, i did not have an accident or cause one. I drive a 2004 nissan sentra, which i maintain regularly. The nissan manual states that throttle service should be regularly performed (something i had never heard of before) but not that neglecting to do so could cause the car to accelerate suddenly. This was not mild acceleration -- the speed increased alarmingly until i put the car in neutral then hit brakes (i instinctively tried braking first, which caused the engine to race) and pulled over to collect myself. This isn't easy with power steering.

The car is accelerating when brakes are applied to stop.it did it once last year and 3 times this year with it becoming more frequent.it has occurred twice in the last 2 months with 8/20/2010 being the last time it occurred.

Car has no acceleration. Will not rev over 900 rpm. While driving lost power but engine kept running fine. It acted like cable broke on the peddle. But to find out it is all electronic. Was able to get off road but was only able to go 10 mph in traffic.

I was driving down the interstate, at 60 mph and the engine dropped to700 rpm and refused to accelerate. I had to pull over, shut off car and repeatedly attempt to start car. This has happened 8 other times in the past month.

The contact owns a 2004 nissan sentra. While driving 65 mph with the vehicle speed control on the throttle slowed down and the vehicle was unresponsive. The vehicle was driven onto the side of the road, the engine was turned off for an hour, the vehicle was restarted and began to drive normally. The check engine light illuminated continuously. The ecm and the electronic throttle body control was replaced by the dealer at cost to her approximately two years ago. She does not know if this cause the vehicle speed control failure to recur. The vehicle will not be taken to the dealer.the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 141,000.

While backing into a parking spot, the driver's side, side-view mirror stuck a post.the mirror exploded, projecting shards of glass throughout the car.i, the driver, received a near-blinding puncture to the left eye.a large piece of glass from the mirror stuck the left eye, leaving a laceration.*la
