On august 14, 2007 at 5:35 pm i was driving north on sparta avenue in a 2002 nissan sentra. I was traveling at an estimated 35 miles per hour. A jeep cherokee on pine terrace failed to yield to at a stop sign and pulled out in front of my car while attempting to turn left onto sparta avenue causing a collision. The collision resulted in extensive damage to the front end of my car that was irreparable; however, my airbag did not deploy.

Takata recall central houston nissan dealership number (713) 661-9955 x 5355 is busy, does not call me back to schedule bag replacement. Nissan customer care (kayla (615) 725-7543, case # 28688503) has not helped and does not call me back. I called 1-888-327-4236 and made a complaint, but haven't heard back.

While driving 40 mph vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Upon impact, dual air bags did not deploy.driver sustained lower back injuries.

I took my car in for nhtsa recall 13v-136 to premier nissan of san jose, and the dealership service rep told me they inspected but did not replace the air bag.they claimed that they could tell whether or not the airbag needed replacement by inspection and that mine didn't need replacement.i am writing to see if it is appropriate that they did not replace my air bag, since the recall notice says "dealer will replace the affected front passenger air bag inflator with a new one." my air bag light is on, and their diagnostic test indicated a fault with the passenger air bag. They were going to charge me around $800 to change the air bag, and i refused as i don't think i should pay for a defect that is due to the manufacturer.

I received a notice of a recall for the driver's side airbag of my 2002 nissan sentra in the mail, which instructed me to make an appointment with my local nissan dealership to have the necessary repairs made free of charge. I made an appointment and appeared at the dealership, and the dealer is telling me that they cannot complete the repairs because the recall is not yet archived in their system, and that the system will take one business day to become available. This difficulty contradicts the very nature of a recall: to ensure the safety of the driver as soon as possible. Because of an inadequacy of their "system"--they are fully equipped mechanically to do the repair--i'm expected to drive home and return a different day with an unsafe driver's side airbag.

The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue in november of 2017 and stated that they would send out a technician to perform the repairs; however, there has been no response. The contact had not experienced a failure.

On october 25, 2017 i received 2 letters regarding a vehicle recall for my nissan sentra 2002 concerning issues with my airbag that is defective am reporting this problem because i will like to know what will be my next step and how can i fix this issue that concerns me.

While driving, vehicle was in a frontal collision.none of the air bags deployed uponimpact.

Takata recall. Went to dealership to replace the recalled airbag. They inspected the airbag inflator, said it does not need to be replaced. They did not do any repair or replacement work on the takata airbag despite the fact that the recall notification stating that the nissan dealer will replace the air bag inflator with a new one. *dtvin available

Takata recall......ive been advised by a class action lawsuit settlement notice that my vehicle may have inflators that are subject to recall but i havent heard anything from the manufacturer as to whether my specific vehicle is affected or not. I would like to be contacted to know whether or not my vehicle needs to be checked or repaired.

I was notified of air bag recall by nissan. I took my vehicle to the local dealership and they agreed to fix but wanted me to release them of responsibility if they cracked my dash board during the repair. I refused to give permission to damage my vehicle.as instructed by the dealership i called 1800 nissan consumer affairs and reported and they also confirmed they could repair but said i would have to assume responsibility for any damage caused by/during the repair.my vehicle currently is not damaged and i refuse to assume responsibility for any damage they may cause.

2002 nissan sentra.consumer writes in regards to vehicle airbag recall issues.the dealer informed the consumer, they could not perform the recall, because the air bags were not original. The consumer stated the vehicle was purchased new and she was never involved in an accident.

Takata recall; after purchasing vehicle and driving for about 10 minutes; check engine light suddenly comes on prior to picking up speed to enter highway; vehicle abruptly loses power at a speed of 65 miles per hour and stalls in traffic causing a near fatal traffic accident; after running the vin number in nhtsa database vehicle was never recalled for grossly negligent issue with crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. This leads me to the fact that vehicle manufacturer never contacted original owner concerning this terrible safety issue. After finding out about two outstanding recalls that were never addressed in which the vehicle has exhibited potential catastrophic consequences based upon the manufacturers product defect it was uncovered that the vehicle has a potential fatal issue with the passenger side airbag. I am extremely terrified to operate this vehicle and my experience on october 1, 2016 of operating this vehicle and it losing power abruptly risking my life and limb has caused me extreme depression, stress, and mental anguish. If these issues are not corrected immediately as a remedy at law with the nearest nissan dealer including towing at manufacturer's expense,i and the texas office of the attorney general will pursue a gross product liability negligence legal action against nissan based upon my legal advice and texas law; which clearly states that in a product liability dispute the statute of limitations is 15 years from sale unless manufacturer says useful life is longer. Texas civil practice & remedies code ann.16.012. Thank you for your time and attention to this serious safety matter.

While driving 50 mph the driver swerved into another lane to avoid a table top which was dropped by an unknown vehicle.as a result the vehicle hit another vehicle.the impact caused the vehicle to spin around and become wedged between the vehicle and a guardrail.neither of the air bags deployed. On october 25, 2017 i received a letter about airbag safety recall from the department of highway safety and motor vehicle regarding an urgent request from nissan manufacturer concerning safety issues affecting my vehicle. There information received from my nissan 2002 sentra that is currently registered under my name. I am filing the complaint to verify what will be my next step to take immediate action and have this issue repaired for free. I am concern for my safety !

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 13v136000 (air bags) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the air bag warning light remained illuminated after the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 186,000.

The vehicle was involved in a collision, and none of the air bags deployed.

I was traveling to my new home when i realized the car in front of me was completely stopped to make a left hand turn. I slammed on my brakes, but hit the car in front of me. My air bags did not deploy. I am concerned because the crash caused 4 fractures in my right ankle and foot.had the airbags deployed, would theyhave held me back in my seat and lessoned the crash impact on my foot/ankle?

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, and the air bags did not deploy.

I was involved in a crash on the mentioned date.a lady ran a red, yellow, or a green yield light.i smashed the front end of my car going approximately 25-30 mph into her front passenger side fender totaling my car valued at $10500.the car was a 2002 nissan sentra ser.my main complaint is the air bags did not go off.i was under the impression that any head on collision going 10 mph or above, the air bags should deploy.please inform me if this is true and what my options are.

Air bag failed to deploy during rear-end high speed impact accident. In addition, the rear windshield glass exploded spraying the interior with small pieces of glass.

The vehicle was involved in a collision, and the air bags did not deploy, consumer was injured.

While traveling at 35 mph, another vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign.consumer hit the other drivers rear door area.consumer states none of the airbags deployed.consumer was injured.please provide any further information. Ts

Early march, i noticed on consumer reports website that there were recalls associated with my 2002 nissan sentra.engine sensors. Nissan did not send me a recall notice even though they had my name and address. I registered the car when i bought it used.march 16 2006 my nissan had 115754 kms on it when i took it into nissan victoria for the recalls.they replaced the crankshaft/camshaft position sensors (3 in total) recall r86.removed ecm case holder foam r87.june 20, 2006 i was heading to the highway when my engine started racing and jerking, i drove it home. The car died and i had it towed to an automotive shoparound the corner from my house.i was so lucky i wasn't going down the highway with lots of traffic!the mechanic came to the conclusion fairly quickly thatit might be the computer and he called the nissan dealership. They told him that they had no problems with the computers. I rented a car in the meantime to get to work.the mechanic got a used computer from the auto wrecker and the car started right up. Apparently the foam on the ecm damaged the computer (some kind of gas-fumes) while it was curing. This is why nissan removed the foam. Maybe they are trying to avoid another recall like for the sensors...too late...i have since discovered that a lot of people have had the same problem with the ecm. I don't trust the used ecm i have in the car because i don't know anything about it. But i feel that nissan should either rebuild or give me a new computer. If this happens at 123,000 kms what can i expect further down the road? i have the old computer, not sure what to do with it.

I was driving when all of a sudden several lights in the car came on and the vehicle suddenly stopped in the road and was not able to restart.i took it in for repair a few days later and was told it was the cam and crank shaft sensor failure.additionally it turned out to be a bad ecm.

Recall notice received for the possibility that the engine would stop running on 2002 nissan sentra.*mrthe consumer was informed by the dealer that there was a waiting list for the recall.the consumer was told that she would be contacted as to when to bring the vehicle in for repairs.before the vehicle was repaired it stalled exactly as the recall stated it would (recall# 03v-477000).

I own a 2002 sentra spec v and this is my second one in 10 months that has failed to perform as it should. The current vehicle has had 1 new engine, 1 exhaust manifold, 2 window regulators, 2 new windows, three new door speakers, two shift knobs, 1 timing belt tensioner, 1 third brake light, and is in the process of getting it's third engine. Car consumes oil at a rapid rate of 2 quarts per 1200 miles. Tried an informal resolution and nissan rejected. Dealer agrees the car should be bought back. Symptoms that i have, lead to possible engine fire and is being addressed with a recall. I was sent home in a vehicle that was unsafe and they did not want to fix this last time and were denying the car had any problem. I fought a long hard battle just to get it fixed. *nlm

On sept 16, 2014, my 2002 nissan sentra would not start.thinking it was a battery problem i had it towed to my mechanic's shop.a day or so later, the mechanics could not find what was wrong with it.i had the alarm worked on recently and the alarm installers were nice enough to swing by the shop and take a look at it.turns out the alarm was not the issue.while talking about the car's problem, the head mechanic and head alarm installer kept mentioning the word "recall".next i had it towed to the dealership, melloy nissan.a melloy mechanic said that the computer was bad and a replacement would cost $900. The mechanic told me it was not under warranty. I researched the emc problem online. I called nissan usa aboutthe emc since it seems to be a common problem with sentras.they said they would take my complaint under consideration.on the sept. 26th, nissan usa said that they would pay for half of the emc's cost.the dealership called shortly later, saying the total cost of the repair would be $667.i don't know if the emc failed because of the emc box's foam curing (a common problem covered by warranty) or it was just a buggy unit (a common problem not covered by warranty). From what i have read online, it seems even if the emc's failure is due to the foam, nissan will replace the foam, but the owner must pay for a new emc.both should be covered. My car's mileage is slightly over 35,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 15v287000 (air bags) and 07v527000 (electrical system); however, the contact was unable to get the remedy performed due to the nearest dealer being 600 miles away.

My car stalled out on road twice. The mil came on; ecm failed. Nissan of union city, ga, diagnosed ecm failure; said needed replacement. I then found there is a recall concerning "sulfur" that could cause corrosion of ecm; nissan never notified me of such. They told me they'd perform the foam and crank sensor recalls; they didn't as found out later. Advisor told me that the ecm replacement would be covered if there was burning or melting of the foam around ecm. I argued that "burning or melting" is not required for ecm failure since recall stated failures were caused by foam releasing sulfur gas during curing. I contacted nissan na and told them my argument that nissan should cover the ecm cost since they never notified me of the recall and that the dealers explanation for ecm failure didn't make sense according to recall. If the ecm's fail due to sulfur out gassing during curing, he cannot he say failure of the ecm was not due to the recall due to lack of burning or melting of the foam. After much delay, nissan na finally told me about 16 days later that they were not going to cover cost of ecm replacement because dealer said the ecm failure was due to age and mileage. This is not logical. I replaced ecm. When i took apart my ecm box, i noticed they only took the foam from above the ecm and not foam below ecm and video taped. Recall calls for taking out both foams from ecm box. It's obvious they never took out ecm to inspect to say "there is no burning or melting". They failed to properly perform the recall. I contacted nissan na about this failure, but they said my case was closed. Just today, my car stalled out again after new ecm, and it had an error code for a crankshaft position sensor malfunction. They claim to have performed the crankshaft position sensor recall.but crankshaft sensor in my car looks as old as car. I believe they didn't perform that recall as well. I think nissan is using foam recall to cover up bad ecm's from 2000-2003 and make money.

The car started stalling at night on the highway with my newborn child and it stopped in the middle if the way. The car has been recalled for 3 different issues + they found out the main computer had a problem. It is almost a month and the part is on back order and will be for another 3 weeks according to the nissan parts representative.*la

I was driving on the massachusetts turnpike at about 65 mph in the right hand lane. I smelled a burning smell, but attributed it to a factory i drove by. My foot was on the gas pedal, and all at once my car was powering down, and the spedometer was dropping at a rapid speed, despite my foot on the gas pedal. Then, the brake light came on, the engine light, and i cruised my car over to the breakdown lane. Thankfully, no cars were behind me to rear-end my vehicle. There was a lot of smoke coming out from under the hood. I put my hazards on, but everything powered off. I turned the car off, and ran far away from the car, not knowing what it would do. I called 911, and patrons stopped to assist me before the police and firemen arrived.by the time they arrived, there were flames both under the hood and under the car, and lots of black smoke, which was making its way out onto the highway, harboring other drivers' views. The fire was put out after much force, and i was able to retrieve items out of the trunk and back seat once the fire was put out. My car was towed away to an automotive company.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while attempting to drive up an exit ramp, the vehicle began to stall.the engine light illuminated and then the vehicle stalled completely.the contact had to wait five minutes to restart the vehicle and drive home.the vehicle has been diagnosed several times, but the failure still persists.the current and failure mileages were 15,000. I currently own a 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v and it is old but has been taken good care of and it only has 110,000 miles on it.vehicle problems smoke black really bad, uses up to 5 quarts between oil changes, idles rough, runs rough.it has had a couple recalls i checked up on like the pre cat header it had been replaced in 03.i replaced coil packs, spark plugs, mass air flow sensor, cam sensor, and crank sensor.all this virtually did nothing and with vehicle oil consumption and fuel usage the engine is shot and will be in need of rebuild or replacement.i have read many reviews of others with the same car and have had the same and worse problems, and it just makes no sense how nissan can screw up that bad and screw that many people out of money because of manufacturing defects.i also called nissan and told them the problem and they basically said to bad nothing we can do you are on your own.i still own the car and feel like as many of these car owners have experienced the same issues it is obviously something nissan did wrong and should compensate me and others with this defect.

Right drivers side window wont go up.

I was traveling on the highway when the car shutoff. The rpm's shut to 0 in 5th gear. The battery was fine. I brought it to the shop and they could not make connection with the ecm. I needed an ecm.there was a recall for the crank position sensor which was performed in 2004, that recall was established because of vehicles stalling while driving. This is still a serious public safety issue. I called nissan and they stated because of the age and mileage of the vehicle there was nothing they could for me. Searching online in nissan forums i realized this is a common issue for that year. So i am not alone. The recall should extend until this problem is fixed period. Thank you.

Car stalls when driving.i first brought this car in at 36k miles stating it was difficult to start.i was told it was fine.the dealer noted it was difficult to start at 65k miles.i had numerous electrical problems with the car in the first 36k miles.those appeared to be resolved.at 97k miles it began to refuse to start randomly.now it turns off while driving.the dealer states the problem is with the ecm unit.i feel this is a defective part that was installed with the car.a car turning off while it is driving is a safety hazard to every car on the road.the dealer rep tells me this unit frequently goes out on these cars.this creates an unsafe vehicle.

Car turn off while driving.

While driving the will stop running without warning or my service engine light will come on and my car will not start.this started about 5 years ago.

Had just exited off hwy - was driving ab 45 mph - as i slowed down to approach a stop light - car cut off/shut down completely - car would not restart until approx 45 minutes later.car towed to victory nissan dealer - crank position sensor failed - was replaced.(crank position sensor - recall for previous year models.)emergency brake cable was adjusted - charge to customer $39.80.had premium maintenance and state inspection at pence nissan oct 29, 2003 - at which time neither problem was recognized.brought to pence's attention that gear shift indicator light was out.was told that bulb needed to be replaced at customer expense.pence nissan (approx 5 miles to residence) - poor customer service - service manager has not returned my phone call (left vm message).repair invoices need to be more detailed/complete.victory nissan (approx 25 miles) - very accommodating.victory nissan ordered and will replace bulb under "goodwill by nissan."* for previous complaints:odi number 10052456 and odi number 10052460, both complaints should have been marked "oem."purchase date should be revised to oct 27, 2003.current mileage was an approximation.

Intermittently while driving at any speedand shifting any gear the vehicle stalled. Thedealership inspected the vehicle 10 times on different occasions, and could not duplicate or correct the problem.there were numerous probles with engine stalling, the maf had to be replace numerous times, the check engine and the reverse light did not work properly.(the wiring harness also repeated intermittent problems)the engine would stall when the clutch was depressed and when in neutral idling and when shifting the gears.the front speaker/tweeters made cracking noises.the cooling fan would come on when not activated. *sc

I drive a 2002 nissan sentra. I regularly maintenance this vehicle. My car completely shut off in the middle of traffic with no prior warning like a light going on in the dashboard and refused to restart! a police officer had to put flares out in the intersection so that no one would hit us. My husband and i were fortunate that no other vehicle in the intersection collided with our vehicle. The only way we could get the car to the shop was by a tow truck. It turned out that thecar's computer had gone completely dead. I am grateful that we were not injured, but i consider that a car system that fails to warn the driver in advance that there is a malfunction in the computer that runs the car is highly dangerous! i would not want any driver to have this frightening experience!

Consumer stated that when the vehicle reached a speed of 60 mpha whistling noise could be heard from the transmission.the consumer took the vehicle to three different dealers at least ten different times and they all told him that the noise was normal with this vehicle type .the consumer spoke to the manufacturer a few times but currently they don't want to deal with the problem. The vehicle experienced electrical problems and the dealer replaced all the electric cables.the brake pads were replaced at 10000 miles and at 20000 miles the rotors had to be resurfaced. *nlm

While driving on the interstate at 70 mph vehiclelost power and stalled.also, the instrumental panel/ electrical system, and brakes failed. This forced the consumer to pulloff the road, and waited an hour to restart.

While driving on highway car engine shut off. It did this twice. The second time the car would not restart as of 7-29-2017

Ecu failure caused fuel pump relay to cycle errratically with accompanying engine hesitation. Nissan cosidered this a safety issue and requested that i did not drive the vehicle. Many ecu failures seem to be occuring since nissan told the dealer that they had issues with the unit and that they were on back order.

Service engine light on. Fault of misfire and interior engine gauge was inop. Vehicle stopped for no reason. Took vehicle to dealer service center for ecm recall they could not perform due to internal failure.

Recently the ecm in my 2002 nissan sentra failed while driving causing lose of control of my vehicle. After researching the issue online i found that there is an active recall for the foam that covers the ecm. The problem being that the foam traps moisture causing the ecm to fry. Nissan would not cover the ecm under the recall in which i had to pay $800 for the repair. I filed a claim with nissan for some kind of reimbursement and i was denied because of the car's mileage and being out of warranty. I feel as though i was robbed $800 due to the fact that this is a known problem with this vehicle and yet nissan will not step up and take responsibility for their defective part. I would like some kind of reimbursement for the $800 i had to spend which technically should have been covered under an active recall on this part.

2002 nissan sentra se-r we own has been giving us a re-occurring problem with both the unified meter that controls the speedometer and affects the ecm to throw up the engine light to come on..causes a massive slow down in speed when the speedometer goes out while driving..brought this to the attention to a local nissan dealer, mike shad of orange park and was informed not to worry about the engine light and just have the ecm "reflashed". We followed the instructions from the service center of mike shad nissan and had the system reflashed..speedometer worked briefly and went out again..to this day it continues to stay on "engine light", and the speedometer stillworks off and on and continues to wreak havoc on maintaining a safe speed.also a major issue regarding the "long engine crank time before engine starts". I have found information thru the internet informing there is a tsb on this issue on this particular vehicle ('02 sentra) and have submitted an email to the service dept of mike shad nissan to address this issue but no response. This problem with the crank time endangers not only me but my family as well. I cannot trust the car to crank properly which therefore puts the reliability factor in jeopardy when my wife drives the car to pick up my daughter for school and use the vehicle to and from work.i found information about this problem thru the nissanhelp website regarding the technical service bulletin "long engine crank time before engine starts" indicating a primary part failure on a faulty fuel pump that needs to repaired/replaced...

Went to get an oil change today and the mechanic pulled the dipstick and discovered that the half of the plastic handle that the dipstick was attached to had broken off.we luckily were able to remove the dipstick from home with a pencil and tape, however this signifies a more common problem that this vehicle is made of shotty parts.i had to get a tune-up at 25,000 miles, my battery has corrosion problems that have been communicated multiple times to the dealer with no fix, and my computer died at 40,000 miles and had to be replaced.i will now have to purchase a dipstick since they used a shotty plastic part that corroded and broke.this seems to be a very common problem.it may not be a safety hazard, however, the manufacture needs to be held liable.here is a link to many other nissan consumers who have had this same problem:http://www.broomeman.com/mt/archives/001156.html.

2002 nissan sentra experienced problems with shutting down as well as faulty brakes.***no answer required***.*mrthe service dealer was unable to find the problem.refer to recall campaign# 03v455000.the brakes were faulty, there was a problem with the battery due to leaking and wouldn't charge, the fan belt had crystallized, noise had come from the engine due to the radiator, there was a malfunction of the computer which caused the engine to flood with gas.*sc

Vehicle(2002 nissan sentra gxe)becomes rough and the engine stop intermittently while driving the vehicle. Taken the vehicle to the dealership, the ecm (engine control module) was detected to be bad. It was replaced at a cost of $95.00. The vehicle odometer was showing about 47,000 miles. Talked to the nissan manufacturer and i was told that all recalls were already done on this vehicle on march 24th, 2004 at stevens creek nissan. This included rectifying the defects related to ecm. However the ecm became bad again. There may be defects which have not come to the review. Please help to identify the defects and make the vehicle safe on the road.

Dt: contact stated while drivingvehicle stalled. While pushing the vehicle off the road another vehicle hit the contact'svehicle from behind. The contact stated there was nhtsa recall campaign 03v477000but the contact wasn't notified about this recall.the contact and passengersustained injuries.

Recall letter regarding the possibility that the engine may stop running while being driven due to contamination of the engine control module (ecm) by the inner lining material (recall# 03v-455, 03v-477). *ph

While driving the engine light came on; 10 miles later the vehicle stalled. This occurred because the ecm failed. The dealership charge the consumer to perform the ecm material recall 03v477000because the ecm failure was not caused by the contamination of the inner lining material , it just shorted out.

My vehicle would cut off while driving. I took it to a nissan dealership to have the recalls r3022 (crank position sensor) and the inside lining of the ecm box removed. Because of the damage done to the ecm box from the lining by ecm box has to be unjustly fixed at my own expense.

I purchased my car in oct 2006. In dec 2006 i was leaving my brothers and my car would not start. The check engine light had came on earlier in the day. I had the car towed to nissan at the avenues, after doing a diagnostic test on it they told me the ecm was no good and was covered under recall. The next day the dealership called me back and said nissan would not pay for the ecm but it would pay for the 3 sensors that were on recall. The reason it would not pay for the ecm is because i bought the car used and it had over 80,000 miles on it. The ecm should have been paid for also it is a $508.00 part and it was a recall like the sensors.... I have noticed several other consumers having the same problem with this ecm. Th.

I have a 2002 nissan sentra. This vehicle will stop running in normal freeway driving conditions. Without warning my car stalled in heavy commute traffic. My car is only three years old, and i had a hard time starting it. Once it started, it stalled again only a few miles down the road. I have since found out that there is a recall on the foam surrounding the electronic control module. The recall states that the foam can contaminate the ecm. I took my car in to the dealership and they replaced the foam, but did not replace the ecm. The contaminated ecm is what is making the car stall. The dealer only did the recall work, and did not fix the damage that was done to the ecm. I would like to warn all sentra owners that they are driving a dangerous car. This car could potentially stall on the freeway or find themselves unable to start the car many miles from home. I did not receive the recall notice and i drove the car not knowing this foam is damaging my ecm.i was under the impression that a nissan was a very reliable car. I also thought that the nissan people took care of the customer. That is not the case here. I was made to pay for a new ecm.

02/2003 car stalled and did not restart, called nissan they admitted there was recall on crank sensor.car was towed to dealer and also recall on ecm cover, foam ripped out as "quick" fix.now the engine control module is thumpingthe computer is bumping when acceleratingand stopping; noise is audible inside car.went to dealer to have part fixed dealer will not fix.called nissan (nmac) they consider the recalled part fixed.this is causing damage to computer unit and is dangerous being that the throttle cable is located there.car has surging idle.nissan will not fix what they damaged, engine control module is now compromised.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 35 mph on normal road conditions the engine stalled.the vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic who determined the problem was in the electronic computer module (ecm) and recommended the vehicle be taken to an authorized dealership because there was recall # 03v477000.the dealership did not perform the recall repairs prior to the date the vehicle was purchased.the dealership billed the contact for the diagnosis and the ecm reprogramming.the manufacturer was contacted who determined the vehicle was no longer eligible for the recall because the recall was too old, nov 3, 2003.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.occasionally, the vehicle would not start, but sometimes it would start, shut off, and then fail to restart.the dealer's final diagnosis was that there was computer failure.nhtsa campaign id number 03477000 (electrical system:ignition:module) was referenced.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 93,000 and failure mileage was 92,000.

Dt:a recall was issued onthe ecm cover.the consumer stated the vehicle stalled while her daughter was driving. The consumer did not receive a recall notification since then the damage was done to the ecm. The dealer only did the recall work and did not the fix the damage that was done because of recall defect. Dealer said they will fix it if the consumer paid for it. Manufacturer said they will contact her within 24 hours. The consumer had to have it towed to dealer and he said her car was out of warranty. Dealer told her today if she pays $50.00 they will replace the ecm. Recall id#p3163. Caller is paying for rental car. Caller is not alright with paying the $50.00.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra xe. The contact started the vehicle and the check engine warning light was immediately illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where the mechanic replaced the sensor. The failure recurred while stopped at a traffic stop. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where she was advised that the foam material used for the interior lining of the electronic control module (ecm) box would need to be replaced. The contact located a recall relative to the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 03v477000-electrical system: ignition: module) but was informed by the manufacturer that her vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 83,600.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the engine stalled without any warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician detected a trouble code within the ecm. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number03v477000 (electrical system:ignition:module); however the vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

I am contacting you with regards to nhsta campaign id number: 03v4777000 for the 2002 nissan sentra.the repair proposed by nissan is not appropriate since the components in question may already be partially affected and removing the foam will not solve the problem for the long term.also it is very bad practice to open an electronic module at a dealer since a latent defect may be introduced in the sensitive electronics by the servicing in an inappropriate environment.the electronic modules can only be properly remanufactured at a proper electronic facility and then retested for function and quality.the modules should only be replaced at the dealer facility.i am a retired director of engineering for fuel injection systems and i know the proposed procedure by nissan is unprofessional and can lead to many future vehicle problems with serious crash and injury implications.please give this problem your urgent attention before a serious incident occurs.

I drive 2002 nissan sentra.i have been driving nissan sentra without knowing recall on sentra equipped with qr25de engines.a couple weeks ago, my car suddenly stopped on the freeway.since then, the engine frequently stopped without any warning.i took my car to local auto repair shop and was informed of recall of nissan sentra.i towed my car to nissan dealer, and ecm case holder and crank sensor were replaced according to recall instructions by nissan.unfortunately, the replacement of these parts did not fix the problem because ecm was already damaged.recall 03v477000: ecm box lining removaldefect:on certain my 2000-2002 passenger vehicles equipped with the qg18de and my 2002-2003 passenger vehicles equipped with qr25de, the foam material used for the interior lining of the electronic control module (ecm) box emits sulfur as it cures.if one of the resistors inside the ecm has a crack on the surface coating, the gas may cause corrosion of the resistor.this could cause the malfunction indicator light to come on, poor drivability (idle instability, poor accelerator), or the engine to stop running vehicle operation, which could result in a crash.i already filed the complaint about ecm damage related to the recall to north america nissan hq with file# 5082579.nissan north america hq told me to provide a solid proof that the malfunction of ecm is directly related to recall case #03v477000. However, my car problem exactly falls into the recall description of what would happen if ecm foam was not replaced.this is not an isolated case, rather it can happen to anyone who drives 2002-2003 nissan sentra without knowing the recall.but it appears that nissan north america hq does not take this issue seriously or pretend not to.nissan must be honest with this problem and take any action to prevent its customers from any crash by replacing ecm as well as other parts.

2008 safety recall for faulty electronic control module. 2002 nissan sentra had a stalling problem.the consumer received a recall letter in the mail regarding a stalling problem. The consumer contacted nissan and stated he was about to trade the vehicle in due to the stalling issue. The consumer went to the dealership to get the recall taken care of and other work done as requested by nissan. However a few weeks later, the vehicle began to stall again. The consumer was told to provided proof of the repairs, he would be reimbursed.nissan denied reimbursement because only reprogramming was covered was covered by the recall, not replacement.

2002 nissan sentra with a recall on the electrical system: ignition module failure customer states that he is entitled to a refund for the cost of replacing the ecm and relay**ccthe consumer stated the engine kept stalling while in operation. The consumer took the vehicle took the dealership, they replaced the alternator, battery, front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors, however 4 days later the engine stalled again. The vehicle was returned to the dealer and that was when the ecm and relay was determined as being faulty. The consumer discovered there was a recall on the very same part that had to be replaced on his vehicle.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.the contact stated that the check engine light illuminated. Two weeks later, while driving 65 mph, the vehicle completely shut off.the contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful.the vehicle was towed to her residence and then to the dealer.the dealer performed two repairs under recall # 03v477000 (electrical system:ignition:module) and recall # 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling).the dealer performed a diagnostic test and determined that the vehicle's computer failed.the vehicle was then towed back to the contact's residence.the vehicle still does not start.the current and failure mileages were 100,003.

Dt:2002 nissan sentra.the contact stated vehicle stopped while drivingat 45 mph.the contact then coasted to the side of the road and vehicle would not restart.the vehicle was towed to the dealership; they state the ecm modulefailed.the vehicle has not been repaired.it is still at the dealership.the contact was trying to get nissan to fix the vehicle under recall campaign 03v477000. If the ecm failed the ignition module will not be replaced.theproblem with the vehicle occurred onseptember 12, 2005.

I was driving my car on i-270 during rush hour traffic, with my two year old son in the car, when my 2002 nissan 5 speed just shut off. I was in the center lane and had to veer right to get my car off onto the berm. After having it towed to two different mechanics, and $310 later i found out that i had a bad wiring harness. This is what made my car shut off. To me this is a serious safety concern, my son and i could have lost our lives, not to mention the people i cut in front of to try to get off the freeway. There were no warnings of this mechanical failure, the car literally just shut off. *la

While driving at highway speed driver saw smoke coming from the hood.the consumer stopped the vehicle, got out, andsmelled plastic burning.the engine compartment was on fire.the fire department was called to extinguish the fire.*sc

I am a professional fire investigator. This vehicle fire originated with the headlight assembly. The burn patterns clearly indicate this to be the area of origin and the supporting burn patterns indicate the fire originated in the headlight assembly. Even though this recall does not specifically address a possible fire hazard, i believe the fire is related to the recall problem.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle stalled intermittently.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and it was discovered that the electronic control module failed.the vehicle was repaired.the failures were identical to those mentioned in the recall; however, her vin was excluded.the vin and nhtsa campaign id number were unknown.the failure and current mileages were 40,000.

The car engine stops when at the traffic light and every time that i stop . I have to restart it to proceed and this happens very often and very frustrating.. Thanks god that i haven't had anyone rear-ended me so far.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph or stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The contact had an independent mechanic replace the fuel pump, the spark plugs, the fuel filter and the exhaust pipes. A dealer was not contacted. The failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

While driving up a steady grade the 'service engine soon', battery, and oil lights all came on simultaneously. A few seconds later, or possibly at the same time, the engine stalled and all forward power was lost without prior warning (except for the warning lights a couple of seconds earlier). I steered to the shoulder of the road using the existing momentum.the temperature gauge had been normal up until the incident but showed an overheated engine after turning off the car and turning electricity back on (the engine would not start at this time).

Nissan denies vehicle is part of an ongoing problem withoil issues that effect the catalytic converter.this vehicle has had a the catalytic converter replaced at 14,000 miles, and multiple recalls have been issued.nhtsa has this case already on record for the continue problems with this make and model.defective engine build, nissan attempts to deflect the issue to the dealers and then back again.nissan case # [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming oil excessively and he could he hear a loud knocking noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the catalytic converter had allowed debris to enter the pistons and as a result, the engine would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 118,000 and the current mileage was 121,000.

I began to have trouble with my car a couple of weeks ago. I have been going through a quart of oil a day and a tank of gas in a few days. I took it to my mechanic and he found out there is a recall for my vehicle. I was never notified of this recall. I was in the marines and was stationed at several different bases. My mother?s address was also used by nissan but she never received any information on the recall. I contacted the nissan dealer in norfolk ne. He told me i had to wait two weeks for them to look at it. The people i dealt with were rude and unprofessional and acted like i was an inconvenience. I did not have another vehicle and i am in school and have work so i contacted nissan usa.after several phone calls i was able to get an appointment in sioux city ia. I had to have my vehicle towed at my expense to sioux city.they looked at my car and found out that there were shreds of metal in the engine and the engine needs to be replaced. They stated they were not going to replace the engine. They stated i have to pay for it to be replaced. In the recall they said it would be replaced at nissans expense, a tow if necessary would be paid and a rental vehicle would be provided. None of this has happened. I would like assistance with this issue because the engine should be replaced by nissan.i told them what was wrong and my mechanic called and told them as well. They have still are not willing to pay for the engine.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.the contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, there was a knocking noise coming from the engine. The contact noticed the vehicle was smoking and oil was leaking from the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer, who advised that the pre-catalytic converter and the engine would need to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 03v084000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall campaign. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 119,500.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. While driving various low speeds, the engine stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the failure was identical to nhtsa campaign number: 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

I was made aware recently( march 2020) that the cam sensor in my car is defective. There was a recall on this part in 2004. After contacting the nissan corporate headquarters, they inform me that their records show the recall remedy was satisfied in 2004. I do not remember bringing the car to the dealership nor does the dealership have any record the recall was satisfied.

Engine stops running suddenly for no apparent reason, and with no warning.this may happen within seconds of starting the engine, after a few minutes, and sometimes even as much as an hour after startup.the engine runs smoothly when it runs, and there is no warning when it stops running.the check engine light is not illuminated (except immediately following startup), and my local service station cannot isolate a problem that would cause this behavior.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph the vehicle stalled without warning. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact restarted the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic that determined that there was a manufacturing defect with the crank position sensor. The vehicle was repaired by replacing two sensors located at the top and bottom however the failure recurred.the mechanic then advised that the remedy was to reprogram the computer at an authorized dealer. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included. The current mileage was 170,000. Car stalled after coming up to stop sign.this has happened a few times.i heard it could be a crankshaft position sensor failure.are there any recalls on this particular part?july 1st 2013, my blower knob did not turn on until i reached position #4--the rest do not work, so i cannot control heating, cooling or defrosting. Any recalls on a blower heat resistor failure?september 2010, intermittent speed control accelerating on its own--ongoing problem.july 3rd 2013, heat shield broke in two.are any of these conditions on a recall list?if so, where do i go from here, so i can get them fixed?are there any other recalls, such as airbags, etc.?

I am the owner of a 2002 nissan sentra. The dipstick broke in the ordinary course of standard maintenance of the oil in the car and the broken dipstick fell in, resulting in a$250-$300 repair (to retrieve the dipstick from the engine and replace the dipstick). The dipstick is clearly defective, as a brief internet search reveals hundreds of nissan sentra owner complaints regarding this exact problem, including numerous complaints on the nhtsa websiter (over several model years). This dipstick, with its flimsy plastic part, is clearly not suitable for its intended purpose and can ultimately result in a dangerous engine failure. Nissan is trying to avoid responsibility for the problem by saying that they are not responsible because, in my case, the dipstick broke when it was being handled by an independent service station, rather than by nissan service. This response is absurd since this is not an isolated episode and since dipsticks are meant to be used in gas stations and in car owners' own garages and driveways. Nobody takes their car back to the car manufacturer to check the oil. That is like saying that if the gas tank is defective, nissan will not cover the repair because gas was put in the car at a gas station instead of at a nissan dealer. Apparently, even jiffylube has had numerous problems with nissan on this front as well.it was necessary for us to proceed with the repair immediately and at our own expense, since the broken dipstick in the engine was obstructing the entry of a new dipstick and also distorting the measurement of the oil.thus, it was impossible to know if the car needed oil, and running the car with insufficient oil would have further damaged the engine.this could ultimately result in engine failure and an accident. We had the dipstick repair done at a local nissan dealer and are seeking reimbursement for the repair (but, as stated above, nissan has refused to reimburse us). Thank you for your attention to this matter.

While driving 70 mph vehicle stalled without warning. Vehicle restarted, andthey continued on driving. My vehicle would cut off while driving. I took it to a nissan dealership to have the recalls r3022 (crank position sensor) and the inside lining of the ecm box removed. Because of the damage done to the ecm box from the lining by ecm box has to be unjustly fixed at my own expense.

*nlm

The contact began to notice that the vehicle was burning approximately one quart of oil a week.approximately 6 months later, the failures began to recur and the vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer who stated that the engine melted.the contact was informed of an engine recall and the engine was replaced by an authorized dealer.approximately two months later, the vehicle failed to accelerate intermittently. The vehicle was not examined in order to determine the cause of failure. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 77,000.

Vehicle motor stopped abruptly at highway speeds while continuing to coast.vehicle also stopped while idling at intersections.battery maintained full cranking power, but restarting the engine successfully took anywhere from 5- 30 minutes.abrupt engine stop occurred at a rate occurring between two minutes and an hour of driving. Motor continued to stop on road, leaving car to coast slowly or be braked without power brakes for several days until vehicle was serviced. When car stopped while idled at intersections, it had to be pushed from behind out of the intersection while in neutral gear.to service the vehicle, the dealer service center replaced the crankshaft sensor.this was the same sensor that was replaced under recall campaign 03v455000 during routine maintenance.since the repair, the car no longer stalls at highway speed.i was informed by the service department of nissan north america that the recalled part replacement is not under recall and the bill for replacement of the crankshaft sensor will not be reimbursed.as such, the replaced crankshaft sensor appears to have the same grounds for recall as the original part that was recalled.the defective crankshaft sensor was discarded by the local nissan dealer service center after the repair was made.

*sc

Our 2002 1.3l engine nissan sentra shut off while driving.this left the car uncontrollable and unresponsive.power steering was impaired and safe operation of the vehicle was compromised.we took the car to the dealership and the ecm crankshaft sensor was identified as "mis-reading" the condition of the car. It turns out that this incident is identical to the failure of the 2002 2.5l nissan sentra crankshaft sensor under recall 07v527000.our car is not covered under this recall, though the part, system, and failure are the same.this issue will be fixed at my expense initially, but this issue could cause many safety issues and should be addressed immediately by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.the contact stated that when first starting the vehicle, exhaust fumes would enter the interior cabin with the illumination of the check engine warning light. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for inspection where the contact was advised that the ecm needed replacing. The manufacturer was contacted and advised having the failure diagnosed by an authorized dealer. The diagnostic test confirmed that the ecm was defective. The manufacturer then advised that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and no assistance would be provided. The contact stated that the vehicle was non-drivable.the failure mileage was 121,500.

2002 spec-v heater temp control cables broke. Drove car to 10000 miles.. In dec was given a rentalcar..told parts would be in any day. Been without the parts for over 90 days.. No eta on parts ..no eta on repair..only get the run around from nissan

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled.through online research, the contact discovered numerous recalls on the vehicle with the same failure that he was experiencing.the manufacturer stated that his vin was not included in any of the recalls; therefore, the contact would not be reimbursed for any of the repairs related to those recalls.the contact feels that his vehicle should be included in the recalls since he is experiencing the same failures.the vin and recall numbers were unavailable.the failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was 71,000.

1. The engine stopped running without warning while the vehicle was driven. It could have caused a crash. I couldn't start the engine until the engine was cooled off.2. It occurred once, but it is strongly believed to be related to a previous campaign (nhtsa campaign id number: 07v527000 and 06v223) the condition, events and the consequences are the same.3. A mechanic fixed the condition by replacing the crank position sensor, but i am not sure the vehicle is in fair condition. Air flow meter was also replaced although it is not strongly correlated with thei have contacted the nissan usa and a dealer (darcars nissan), but i was told that there is no campaign for my vehicle.

Hi, my name is [xxx] . I have a complaint/recommendation about the manner in which a vehicle recall is beinghandled/performed.i am the owner of a 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v. This vehicle has/had a recall in place to fix a condition that would lead to unrepairable engine failure. The condition you may be aware of as a pre-cat (catalytic converter located on the exhaust manifold in addition to the main one) failure condition. Basically unburned fuel is burned in the pre-cat resulting in its disintegration. It is then sucked into the engine causing cylinder wall damage. This condition results in the engine burning excessive amounts of oil, a further degrade in compression over time and overall engine failure before it should expire under normal conditions. This situation happened to me and i was notified in any manor at any time about any recall even during service for the recalled item. This repair was in excess of a thousand dollars. At which time i was told nothing about the particles being sucked into my engine causing my the engine wear which caused the oil condition. At the very least i should have been advised of the recall at the time of repair and of my oil being contaminated. Instead i was told it would be fine to drive 100+ miles to my local nissan dealership. It would of great help is you could look into this matter or make recommendations on how else this would be best handled?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the engine stalled without warning.afterwards, the engine was easily restarted.the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem.there was a nhtsa recall, # 06v242000, regarding the engine.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.the manufacturer was not alerted.

When driving at any speed vehicle stalled. Vehicle also intermittently jerk when shifting gears.*la

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact was driving 15 mph when the engine stalled. The contact stated that the failure would occur intermittently without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently fail to start. The vehicle was left at the dealers for five months for extensive diagnosis but the dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. The manufacturer was contacted who informed the contact that there were no related recalls and did not offer any additional assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000. The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra se-r.while driving approximately 60 mph, the oil indicator illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel.the contact drove to his residence.the dealer advised him to add more oil in the vehicle.the oil leakage became a persistent issue.one year later, while driving approximately 40 mph, he heard a loud noise coming from the hood on the driver's side.the vehicle stalled and was towed to a local repair shop.the mechanic stated that the piston rings, head job, and crankshaft needed to be replaced.the dealer and the manufacturer were not notified.the vin was unavailable.the current and failure mileages were 180,000.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra s-er.three years ago, the check engine light illuminated and the dealer stated that it could be due to various components.the check engine light remained illuminated the rest of the day.the dealer also suggested that there may have been a crack in the wiring harness.the cost to replace the wiring harness was $1,800, does not include labor or guarantee that the failure would be corrected.three years later, in march of 2008, the contact received a recall notice for the ecm, which stated that the vehicle could shut off.the dealer was unable to perform the recall as long as the check engine light was illuminated.the dealer also stated that the mechanics were not qualified three years ago.they left blown and loose fuses in the engine and also disconnected the wiring harness.the contact paid over $400 to have the o2 sensors replaced and they have failed again.the ecm repair was only guaranteed under warranty for 80,000 miles; however, the vehicle currently has 83,000 miles.the ecm repair was covered under warranty three years ago.the contact stated that she should not be responsible for the repair costs for a failure that was improperly diagnosed three years ago.there are invoices available that indicate the same computer reading that was displayed three years ago is the same reading that is displayed today.the complaint is related to having to pay for a failure that was covered under the warranty and improperly diagnosed.the powertrain was unknown.the approximate failure mileage was 25,000 and current mileage was 83,000.

The handle on the engine oil dipstick has broken off. The stick itself is now in the dipstick tube. I was looking on the internet yesterday, august 12, 2007 and uncovered numerous complaints from people about this same problem. It seems to be a common problem with nissan vehicles.

The dipstick cap on my 2002 nissan sentra gxe is plastic. Due to this and the normal heating and cooling of the engine, it has broken away from the dipstick and the dipstick is stuck down in the dipstick tube. To get this out and replace it, the dealerships and repair garages want $100-200+ dollars. This i have learned is a common defect among most cars of this make and model.

My 2002 nissan sentra w/ 1.8 engine started dying at low speeds.my mechanic said it was a known defectof the camshaft position sensor & a recallwas issued for the 2.5l engine, but not for my 1.8l engine.it cost me $408 to fix.here is the 2002 nissan sentra defect summary: on certain passenger vehicles equipped with a 2.5l engine, the crankshaft position sensor can overheat causing a brief interruption in the signal output from the sensor. Defect consequence:if the interruption in the signal from the crankshaft position sensor is so brief that the electronic control module (ecm) logic does not have time to diagnose the condition, the engine may stop running without warning while the vehicle is driven at a low speed increasing the risk of a crash.

Hello- i want to know why nissan dont recalls the sentra 2002 with 2.5l with the same engine and catalyst with the same recall from 2006 sentra, because my car happen the same problem of oil consumption, i know they change the catalyst for another one but is the same that the old one,not a re-design catalyst?this is that recall from the sentra 2006 that happen in my car 20021. Nhtsa campaign id number: 06v223000recall date:2006-06-21summary:certain passenger vehicles equipped with 2.5l engines may experience excessive engine oil consumption as a result of improper performance of the piston rings.consequences:if the oil is not maintained at least at the minimum level, engine damage can occur and in extreme cases result in an engine fire.remedy:dealers will reprogram the electronic control module (ecm or engine computer). Your vehicle will also be inspected to determine if it has been consuming engine oil at a higher than normal rate. In a small percentage of vehicles, engine replacement will be needed. On june 9, 2006, nissan notified owners of the possibility of excessive oil consumption and the importance of maintaining the oil at a proper level. Follow-up letter to owners advising them of the status of the recall was sent during august 2006. Followup letter to owners was sent on november 15, 2006. At 6:30 am, i was driving, trying to defrost the windows with the defroster at a light and the car started a jerking motion and overheated.i parked the car at family member's residence.i took the car to the dealer and was told that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the replacement was covered under the warranty.nissan needed to be contacted and they were.my case was in the warranty department for 3.5 weeks, mean while i was without transportation i wasn't approved to have a vehicle supplied by nissan.nissan made a decision not to replace the engine in my 4 year old car that received regular maintenance; but to replace the cylinder head gaskets (which from what i am told is a temporary fix).this is because i am at 58,000 miles and my warranty is up at 60,000 miles.beware of nissan and their warranties.

When my 2002 sentra was brought into habberstad nissan for a routine oil change, i was informed that the oil dip stick was broken and the bottom was stuck in the bottom.i was told by nissan that the oil pan had to be removed to get it out and that it would cost $290.00.i have an extended warranty and was also told that this was not covered under the warranty.the service person also mentioned that he has seen this problem on several 2002 sentras, however nissan has not acknowledged that this is a problem with the car.i have since seen several complaints regarding this same problem with the 2002 model.if anything, this should be covered under nissan's warranty and should probably be included as a recall for this problem.nissan should resolve this problem at no cost to the consumer since there is obviously a problem with the plastic dipstick breaking apart.

While driving my 2002 nissan sentra it shuts off no matter the speed now. Started only when i was at a stop light, sign,or going at a slow speed.this has been happening for 3 years, havethe mass air flow sensor changed, fuel filter, and still stopping.also the oil dip stick keep breaking off.most recent sept 5, 2010 now car won't start.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed and shut off.the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but began experiencing idling issues.the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop and inspected by a technician, who determined that the mass air flow sensor failed.the vehicle was repaired at the cost of $370.three days later, while driving 10 mph, the vehicle slowed down and failed.the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to a local repair shop.it was determined that the ecm was failing.no repairs were performed.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that no compensation would be provided because there were no recalls.the current and failure mileages were 75,000.

Consumer's vehicle experienced the same problem as stated inrecall 03v455000.however,consumer's vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership regarding recall 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) and the dealer replaced the insulation in the ecm. The contact asked the dealer to inspect the ecm to make sure it was functioning correctly and was billed for the inspection; however, the dealer also stated that the ecm needed to be replaced at the contacts expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would call her back. The current and failure mileages were approximately 120,000.

1) ongoing intermittent problems with gears grinding, gears popping out (while driving no less!), gears refusing to go into proper gear (especially a problem with reverse.) dealer tells us car drives fine for them and problems cannot be replicated.several observers have seen and heard these problems on various occasions. Dealer continues to tell us that there are no problems with the transmission.2) car refused to start and needed to be towed to dealer, where upon we were told the car started right up for us. This problem has not recurred as of this date.note:the exact milage may not be accurate, but is close. The car only has 13,000 miles on it.

While driving, the vehicle cut off.there was a safety recall on the vehicle, and it was a taken to the closest dealer to get itrepaired. After being repaired it was found that vehicle was still shutting off.customer was charged for repair that was covered under recall notice.after paying for the service the engine light was still on. After four additional trips light finallywent off.electric tape was use to repair harness now car smells like something is burning while driving. *eh

When i went to get my oil changed the mechanic went to pull the dipstick out and since it is plastic and is located next to the manifold it dried out and broke. Now the metal part of the dipstick is stuck in the tube.

Dt*: the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle vibrated and jumped from side to side. Cylinder head gasket blown. Car 100 miles away from home and will not start.

Upon noticing an unusual smell coming from my car i opened my hood to remove the oil dipstick only to find that the plastic ring had melted away from the dipstick.the dipstick was now stuck and after about an hour i was able to remove it because of the numerous suggestions, which i found online in order to avoid a mechanic fee of more than $150.00 to remove it.this seems to be a common problem with nissan sentra according to the many blogs found on the web simply by typing nissan broken oil dipstick.i was given a defective part, time wasted trying to remove the dipstick and had to incur the cost to replace the part, only to be given the same type of dipstick with a plastic handle.

While driving 80 mph the vehicle stalled.three weeks later, the consumer received a recall notice for the defect, however the dealer refused to inspect the vehicle.after descending downhill at 80 mph and upon going uphill, the vehicle shut completely off. *sc

The dipstick on my nissan sentra had a plastic head. Twice, the dipstick hasbeen broken by a serviceman changing the oil. He simple pulls it out and the plastic head comes off, leaving the stick in the tube. Nissan charged me $168 dollars four years ago to replace the tube and dipstick. Now it has happened again. The heat is too much for the plastic, making it brittle. Because this has happened twice, and i've read of hundreds of similar complaints on consumer websites, this should be a recall item.

2002 nissan sentra with engine failure due to pre-catalytic converter. Consumer states that there was a recall for this problem causing engine failure. He states that he wasn't even informed when the vehicle was being repaired for the failure.the consumer stated unburned fuel is burned in the pre-catalytic converter which is located on the exhaust manifold. When the unburned fuel was burned it caused disintegration. It was then sucked into the engine causing cylinder wall damage, which resulted in the engine burning excessive amounts of oil. The consumer stated he experienced the problem which cost him thousands of dollars.

Oil dip stick broke on 2002 nissan sentra.with only about 60,000 miles on the nissan sentra, the plastic oil dip stick broke off inside the tube.the vehicle was taken to a nissan dealer for repairs at a an out outrageous cost of $380.63.checking the internet, i found numerous complaints for the same problem.it surely appears to be a design flaw with the dip stick and nissan should initiate a recall to replace existing oil sticks made of plastic.additional, nissan should reimburse the owners who have already paid for this repair.

2002 nissan sentra, 73000 miles.i bought the car used-- and have pumped out less than 800 miles before this problem happened to me.basically, the car stalls out, has low acceleration before parking.here's the kicker--- this problem happens every week... But not everyday. I took this car to the bfit a local car university-- who looked at the car inside and out... They noted that i should replace the mast air head for $600 which i did.but less than a day later-- same problem.. The car stalls out.i decided then i needed to take it to nissan dealership.they told me the same thing... I need a new mast-head!i told them i have a new masthead-- and theysaid they will just "clear out the computer codes."guess what?a week later the car stalled in the middle of downtown boston traffic.the beauty of the problem, the problem goes away if you turn off and turn back the machine on.i took it back to the dealership and at this point, they do not know what is wrong with it as they kept it the dealership for 1 and a half weeks. But i know the problem: http://www.activetuning.com/blog2/2006/02/28/nissan-altima-crank-sensor-recall-being-reviewed/help== a national recall must occur before someone gets hurt.

While starting up the vehicle check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on.vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic could not duplicate the problem.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving approximately 20-30 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle failed to move when the accelerator pedal was depressed.in addition, the vehicle hesitated intermittently.the failures occurred without warning.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on ten occasions for a diagnostic, but they could not determine the cause of the failure.after continuous repair, the dealer stated that the revolution sensor was the cause of the failure.the sensor was replaced twice.the vehicle was excluded from the recall due to excessive mileage.the manufacturer was not notified.the vin, mileages, and nhtsa campaign id number were unknown.

Vehicle heated, (still under warranty) so i took the car to the dealer nissan world of springfield, nj.my car has been sitting there since 3/19/04 and still my vehicle has not been repaired.they keep telling me that the part is on back order and that there was nothing they could do about this.i have no transportation.they also rented me a car for 5 days and they extended for an additional 5 days.after those 10 days were up i had to return the vehicle with me not having any transportation to get around.my car is still sitting there.no one has informed me of an update on the parts as to when they will be shipped.i have no transportation and its beginning to really bother. Please help me resolve this issue. *la

Car running hot - several times - ran out of fluid - replaced fluid - same problem - dealer replaced lower radiator hose.purchase date was oct 2001 - do not recall exact date.

Nissan sentra 2002 with less then 28000 ml has leaking engine head gasket and radiator and broken steering rack and pinion and steering power assist. Car was purchased new and never had an accident. Car is dangerous to drive - steering does not work. Nissan sold me a lemon car and refuses to repair it.

After purchasing a nissan sentra gxe 2002 -- about 1 month later the service engine light came on and i had to pay almost 300 dollars to replace the radiator thermostat--of course this repair and the next was not covered by the warranty that i purchased--after 5 months both engine belts had to be replaced--another 175 bucks.now i hear a suspicious creaking from the rear end--i can't wait to find out what that is.oh--i almost forgot--one day after taking the car home i had to repair a rear tire and the paint is peeling and fading.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the engine oil dipstick tube would fracture every one to two years. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the tube was replaced with a newer one at the contacts expense. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact on how to remove the broken dipstick. No further assistance was offered.the failure mileage was 132,000.

I bought a brand new 2002 sentra se-r spec v in feb of 2002. I have had major engine and transmission problems, before the car was even a year old i had to take it in for transmission problems 3 times. They replaced my transmission 2 times. The second transmission replacement was with a 2003 transmission. I have also taken my car in 2 times for the engine. My engine had to be replaced 2 times. Both times my engine was found with no oil in it even thought it was far from being do for an oil change. My car consumes oil and i am constantly having to add. These problems are excessive and ridicules for a car that is not even a year old.

Hi , i have a 2002 nissan sentra ser , this car is equipped with a qr25de engine , the piston rings came defective from factory, nissan doesn't assumetheir responsibility , but they sellimprove piston rings for this type of engine ...engine oil disappear with stock piston rings, car doesn't have any leak .... Machine shops know this problem ... Consequence of this matter is that people brakes connecting rods , cylinders have uneven waste ... Nissan only give 60k miles warranty on power train , butbefore that i notify them about this problem , they said that "was cylinder head".my point is the next:" if there is not any problem with the stock piston ringswhy they sell improved piston rings? ".... They know that are a problem with the stock piston rings.... Thank you

2002 nissan sentra computer (ecm) went bad and needed to be replaced.*mrthe consumer received a recall notice on the ecm in 2004 but was unable to take the vehicle to dealer to have it correct due to work obligations.the recall stated that the engine may stop running due to contamination of the ecm by the inner lining material.while driving in may 2005 the consumer's vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated on the dash.the vehicle was towed to the local repair shop who determined that the ecm had failed.the consumer contacted the dealer about replacing the part free of charge. The dealer explained that the recall was only for the lining not the module and refused to replace the module for free.the consumer had the ecm replaced at his own expense.

2002 nissan sentra gxe would stall while driving after braking at high speeds exiting off highway (60-70 mph).the vehicle would shake and the "service engine soon" light would display on the dashboard.the first time occurred at 2 weeks after i purchased the vehicle new with only 600 miles on it!this has occurred over 3 times.the 3rd time resulted in an accident.the nissan dealership has serviced the vehicle and stated that they could not "duplicate" the problem.the nissan consumer affairs and nissan arbitration has tested the vehicle and stated that they could not duplicate the problem.this model seems to have the same problems in 2000 and 2001.is it not obvious that nissan has a continuous problem with this model.*la

Driving at 75 mph, car very suddenly lost power and would not accelerate past 45 mph. Subsequent to this, car operated sporadically until going past 15 mph was impossible.car was towed to dealer where it has remained for a month awaiting a defective ecu replacement. The service manager later informed that this is a wide spread occurrence, and that nissan cannot keep up with the demand of this particular part(the engine management computer). At the time of this incident, i was very fortunate to have successfully pulled to the shoulder from the fast lane. My vehicle has 20,000 miles.*la

2nd time since owning the car that my dipstick has broken off in the oil tube. I now must either pay $150 to get it removed or try and figure out what to do to get it out.

While pulling inside of the garage, the vehicle stalled. Owner had the vehicle towed to a repair shop. The mechanic informed the owner that the head gasket had blown and the engine will need to be replaced. Provide further details.

Severe engine failure.i bought my 2002 nissan sentra spec-v with only 7,000 miles on it and thought i had a great car.thank goodness i opted for the extra 100,000 extended warranty.my car's engine experienced massive oil consumption around 60,000 and i noticed the whole time i owned the car that the oil was always low each time i changed it.i used only mobil 1 full syn every 5,000 miles.the engine failed 3,000 over the standard 60k powertrain warranty.i fought with nissan for 1 month while they kept my car until i provided oil change receipts.once i provided them they changed the complete engine which totaled $8,500 and more than the car was worth anymore.further for about 70,000 the car had extended crank problems and were severe in hot or extreme cold weather.the car would take 20 seconds or longer to crank over while pumping the gas.after my 3rd complaint at my 3rd nissan dealer they finally fixed the problem and put in a new fuel pump and sensor.the car has 98,000 and 36,000 miles after the new engine.i am thinking of getting rid of it before more trouble happens beyond my 100k warranty.

The car just started cutting off. First mechanic said bad gas, did computer check nothing.would cut off turning, full idle to silent cut off.now does it on start up.

Dt: the contact states their check engine light is under a recall but their vehicle manufacturer states it is not.there are no other consequences that this has caused, the contact just wants the dealer to pay the bill so they can pass their state inspection.

I own a 2002 nissan sentra se-r. It has approximately 80,000 miles on it. One day last month, on the way home from work, my car stalled at a red light. I was able to get it started and drive it the 15 miles to my dealership, but it stalled at least twice on the way. The engine also was not running smoothly and the "check engine light" was on. When i got to the dealership, they told me that a "power valve screw" had come loose and worked its way into one of my cylinders where it then proceeded to smash a spark plug. Also, i was informed that this was a known recall issue on the 2003 and 2004 nissan sentra se-rs and on the altima's, but that there was no recall issued for 2002 sentra se-rs. My extended warranty (75,000 miles) had just run out and my dealership suggested that i contact nissan corporate to see if they would intervene and help, since all of the parts involved and the nature of the problem exactly matched what was happening in the '03 and '04s. The only difference was that my car was an '02. To make a long story short, nissan corporate basically told me that since there was no recall issued for my model year and since my warranty had run out, there was nothing they were obligated to do for me. They also said, "don't worry. We are constantly assessing the status of recalls and if a recall is issued for the 2002 model year, we will reimburse you." i ended up paying over $600 (and it would have been more, had my dealership not taken pity on me and given me a discount) to get something fixed on my car that was a known problem for the 2 model years following 2002, but that (for some reason) didn't include my car. As i stated above, my dealership verified that all of the parts that were affected were the same as those involved in the recall, and that the actual problem was the same as the recall.

Went to checkthe oil and the plastic dipstick had broken off and the dipstick has fallen down into the engine. Checking online for help on removal shows a number of people with the same problem.they want $156 dollars to fix a problem that nissan is aware of that could have been prevented with a new dipstick not made of plastic for $3.

Now at 20,800 miles i think my car may be burning oil.lost 2 quarts in 3000 miles. Dip stick actually came up dry but no oil light. Im taking it in tomorrow to have the tranny replaced along with some o2 sensors that went bad. Also im having it checked because the trunk and drivers/front passenger door leaks. Also the e brake is failing again, there is rattling coming from the drivers door and a sqeauking noise when i release the clutch. Plus my side skirts are still warped, ill have to remind them of that. Just wanted to add this one even though i havent gotten my car to the dealer yet. Also just want to say i officially hate nissan and their extremely poor customer service. I will never buy another nissan and am looking into a lawyer to file a lemon law case. Just because the sentra is the low end model car doesnt mean you have to treat the owners with less respect than those with a 350z or a murano. Im buying a subaru after i get rid of this pos !

This was the third time that my engine has cut off due to a malfunction of the butterfly screws on the intake valve of my 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec v. I have contacted nissan corporate about the issue and they have issued a recall on the 2003 and up models but refuse to issue the recall on the 2002 model. This could have resulted in a highway crash on two occasions as well as continuous damage to my engine.

Engine failed in se-r spec-v from nissan causing me to lose control of the vehicle.

While making a right turn, the engine experienced erratic behavior causing loss of control. Vehicle collided with a cement drainage gutter.*ph consumer received recall notice from nissan regarding engine related failure of ecm and crank position sensor.vehicle was repaired on consumer's expense and seeking reimbursement for repairs because dealer said that they could not fill the requirements of the warranty due to the nature of collateral damage on to the transaxle and surrounding suspension, which is a liability issue not warranty.*la

My 2002 nissan sentra se-r experienced a power valve screw liberation consistent with nissans voluntary service campaign # 5202.the issue is that the campaign is written to only cover 2004 and 2005 models.obviously this manufacturing issue predates the dates covered in the vsc.

2002 nissan sentra had a recall done and the same parts failed again .**nar**ccthe vehicle was recalled forcontaminated engine control module by the inner lining material.this proble caused the vehicle to stop running while deing driven.the recall repair was complete on 4/2004.nov 28, 2006 the problem recurred.the dealer only paid for part of the repair.the consumer believes that the dealer should have covered all cost.

2002 nissan sentra engine light came on which was caused by the oxygen sensor.the oxygen sensor was replaced and still experienced the same problem.the vehicle also stalled while the vehicle was in motion.the consumer requested a replacement of the ecm or for a recall to be issued.the computer showed a code forthe throttle sensor.*sc

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving 55 mph, the engine failed and the vehicle shut down.the vehicle had to be towed to a mechanic.nissan stated that it would cost between $400 and $500 to dissect the engine and locate the cause of the failure.the vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer.the purchase date was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 107,000.

1.car overheated first night it was bought new zero miles.dealership fixed a stuck thermostat.(car should have been checked before it was sold to the customer!)this may have forever damaged this car.2.59,000 miles - car blows head gasket.fixed by dealership.3.~60,000 miles - car running rough because the spark plug sleeve was not put in correctly after head gasket was replaced at the dealership leading to a pressure leak in a cylinder.this miss should have been found by the dealerships mechanic before releasing the car back to the customer.fixed by dealership.4.~119,000 miles - car blows second head gasket.dealership and nissan both say they wont help pay because the car has too many miles on it.5. Car is currently at dealership where they are repairing the head gasket at my expense of 2,000 dollars plus i won't have a car for over a week.i asked if i would have to pay another 2,000 dollars in 60,000 miles for another head gasket because of this defective engine.i was told that it was a possibility. I did a google search on this model nissan sentra and found this to be a common issue.we even purchased a warranty that is good for 100,000 miles or till 2009, whichever comes first. We are just barely out of that warranty which we spent extra money on.

Dt: 2002 nissan sentra. Whiledriving on the highway the car shut off, took the car to a mechanic. Went on the nissan website and found two recalls, they were engine control module case holder and head lamp adjuster.then, took car into dealership, they ran vin # and they found three recalls, one was on the foam on the engine control module and the other two were unknown.one of the recalls would cause the vehicle to shut down or cut off. Took the car into the dealership on friday august 19, 2005.they did not repair due to warranty issues. Spoke to consumer affairs office of nissan and they said this car would not be fixed by nissan without cost.the car has not been repaired and it is still at the dealership.

My 2002 nissan sentra will stop running, shut off when in low speed.this started about one year ago.i have contacted the dealership and have been told there is not recall on my car.but i have read on the internetmany people with the same problem, when trying to find a fix for my problem.i also have had three dip stick come off into the dip stick holder. 12/4/08.

I leased a sentra se-r in nov 2002.since getting the vehicle i have had numerous problems.the car randomly does not start.it sounds like the car wants to turn over, but to no avail.there is no pattern to it.the car starts fine some days, and then sometimes it just doesn't want to start.i've had it towed to the dealer at least twice - the dealer couldn't find anything wrong.in june, when i took the car in for the same problem, the dealer had the nerve to tell me that the car would have trouble starting when it rains out - and that must be the problem.(are they insane - i asked myself - the car won't start when it rains?then they told me that i need to pump the gas pedal every time i start the car - a fuel injected car?)so, they replaced the fuel pump.but twice since the car has not wanted to start.the car has, since the day i leased it, randomly stalled right after starting.why?no one seems to know.then, this weekend while traveling on a highway, at about 70 mph the car suddenly lost all ability to maintain speed or accelerate.luckily, i was able to get to the shoulder, and by that point the engine died.after repeated attempts over 20 minutes, the car started but the "service engine soon" light remained on.when attempting to get back on the highway to travel home from where i was, the car would not accelerate, starting making horrible banging noises and it smelled like something was burning.the car wouldn't accelerate and had no power.luckily, i was able to get into an empty parking lot before having to call for a tow.there was a recall recently on the sentra - relating to the engine and possible fires - and the parts replacement was performed - so i am left wondering what kind of junk i have been stuck with...it seems that it is one problem after another with this car.

My car has had the check engine light come on 5 times since april 2003, everytime it has been the same problem, it starts idleing at a very sparatic pace, also i lose the throttle.the car has been "reset and recalibrated" 4 times at the dealership.the car then runs fine for about 300 miles and we go through it again.it has now turn into a safety concern because i will lose the throttle as i am driving.-kh.

In april of 2005 check engine light went on. Brought car to my mechanic and codes came up for my oxygen sensors. When sensors were replaced the codes would not go away and check engine light would not come off. He replaced them again and no change. In october 2005 my car stalled unexpectedly and after starting it up drove so bad i cannot drive car anymore. Brought car to dealer and would not explain what the problem was but did take care of all recalls (i never received recall info-found it online myself). My car still was running terrible so i brought it to my mechanic. A code came up for throttle sensor not to mention 5 other codes. He replaced throttle sensor and no difference in how car runs. Car now will stall in the middle of driving. I will not drive car for fear of an accident! nick, a regional specialist said nissan will not look at car free of charge even though i have spent over $1500 on these problems. My own mechanic has done more for me than a company who says they are their toughest critic.i decided to look up info online and found 5 different complaints very similar to mine where the ecm was involved on this website. The company who manufactured ecm's to nissanstates on their web page that ecm's installed in cars they provided ecm's to from 1989-2003 had a higher rate of malfunction. This website also explained what can happen when your ecm fails-1.warning light remains on; 2.nonsense fault codes show up when reader is connected; 3.vehicle breakdown w/owarning; 4.erratic idle, stall at traffic/poor running & starting problems. These are just a few but how interesting these all are happening to my car. I believe 2002 nissan sentra's probably have an even higher rate of failure because of the recall to the ecm case holder. I believe this may cause problems to the ecm. Nissan should care enough about their customer and a human life to replace ecm's. Before a serious injury occurs or worse, if that hasn't happened yet.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving 45 mph the vehicle stalled. After the failure, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel. A mechanic concluded that the crank shaft position sensor failed. She contacted the dealer in reference to recall# 07v527000 (engine and engine cooling).her vehicle identification number was excluded from the recall. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The current andmileages were 145,000.

June 15 , 2006 - i was driving on the freeway and all of sudden , car stalled .took itto the dealer. They replaced the emc. It ran fine for 2 months . Today again it stalled . Luckily i was able to restart the car. Taking it to the dealer for checkup on thursday. Talked to the dealer, as of today no recall is due on my car.

- the contact stated that while driving a 2002 nissan sentra at 65 mph the vehicle kept misfiring, causing thecheck engine light to turn on.at the dealer theydeterminedthattwo screws were missing, causing the throttle plate to fall into the intake.the current and failure mileage were both 77,000.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this e mail,it started with a simple oil change for my sister nissan sentra,i had just finished taking the used oil out and replacing a new oil filter,i went for the dip stick, and it broke, my day was already bad and it went to worst.the failure of the poorly design dipstick, its plastic handle, broke and the dipstick metal went in, i have tried players, metal stick with no luck, i went to the internet and found others in the same boat as me, talking about how at an oil change place or house when the dipstick broke, i have search the internet for hints and advice to how to get the piece out, many people put that it takes $210 dollars to fix, i don't have that kind of money to be using it on detailed areas of my car i haven't been able to do much, it to late, i have waited for my brother in law to help me out but the sun has set and its real cold i write this e mail so that nissan cars don't get such a bad reputation, http://www.broomeman.com/mt/archives/001156.html, is a internet source you may or may not know, some people say that they well change to honda, honda is one of the most roomiest cars i have every been in, my sister car is a 02 nissan sentra, i thank you once more for your time in hopes that something might be done to help nissan owners feel that they did get their moneys worth buying a nissan, thank you.

While drivingat any speed and without prior warning, the vehicle stalled intermittently. While driving 35-45 mph the vehicle jerked when shifting gears. While stopped at a red lights the vehicle has stalled numerous times. One time it stalled four times within one mile. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem.the consumer retrieved the vehicle from the dealer and continued to drive it all winter with no problems.when the weather became warm the vehicle began to stall again.the dealer was still unable to duplicate or correct the stalling problem.the consumer is afraid to drive the vehicle. *ph

Consumer stated that the engine is failing causing the consumer to replace the oil more than often. Dealer notified. Ts

Yesterday while driving my 2002 nissan sentra my vehicle stalled while driving at approx. 40 mph. Luckily there was little traffic and i was able to manuever into a parking lot after crossing 3 lanes. The car would not restart. After having it towed to the nissan dealer they said the problem was the crankshft position sensor. After doing some research on the web i noticed a recall for the same issue on the 2000 nissan sentra (nhtsa campaign id number: 01v357000). You would think this issue would have been corrected after 2 model years.

Butterfly valve on the 2002 nissan sentrathe car started to idle very rough while driving on the highway at 70 mph. The check engine light came on & the engine vibration became worse.the car stalled & i was almost killed trying to get to the side of the road.i was able to restart the car & drive a few more miles to work.the car was then towed to the dealership where they found spark plug #1 smashed because a screw was found in the intake manifold.the dealer said there is no recall for this problem.the dealer replaced several parts within intake manifold.nissan north america refuses to address the problems in the 2002 and 2003 models as i have attempted to work with them in a reasonable manner. This is a potentially fatal issue as noted in different individuals experience the same problems with engines catching on fire or car stalling and locking up in traffic. Interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit.

Consumer states while driving the engine compartment caught fire. The dealer was contacted. Feel free to provide any further information.

When passing a semi truck on a curve traveling approximately 70 mph, the engine died and the steering had become hard to turn.the consumer was nearly rear ended by a semi truck. *ph the dealer stated the problem was the engine position sensor.all 2000 and 2001 sentra's had been recalled for replacement.*scc

Consumer states that shortly after starting the vehicle and trying to put the vehicle into reverse the vehicle started to rev up and when the consumer tried to go in reverse the vehicle went in reverse at a high speed until the consumer applied the brakes and shut the vehicle off. Contacted dealer and the dealer cannot remedy the problem.*mr

When going around a curve or slowing down for a stop vehicle shuts off.cause unknown.please provide any further information.

My car suddenly stallsand i have reduced engine power. The car tends to stall more after it rains and it could stall for weeks or months and than it will stop but it is getting progressively worse. I have taken for repairs three times and they were unable to find anything wrong with the car. I see there are recalls for similar problems in the 2001 & 2003 nissan sentra due to a defective crank sensor. I am not sure of the exact date this problem started but i have been experiencing this engine failing problem on and off for sometime.

While driving, the vehicle stalled.the engine light sometimes illuminated on the dash board, it was determined that the crank position sensor was broke.

Nissan sentra 2002the consumer experienced a squeaking noise from the engine.the service department suggested that the noise was coming from the alternator assembly or cylinder next to it.the drive belt was adjusted due to looseness.the vehicle stayed quiet for three days then the noise started again.the weather could cause a glazeon the drive belt which caused noises. The belt was replaced. *sc

I bought a 2002 nissan sentra se-r with approximately 70k miles on it.at the time of purchase the engine was running fine, however, at approximately 72k miles it started burning oil and i had to put oil in the engine once a week.i took the car to the local dealership were they replaced the catalytic converted due to a recall, but did not state that the engine was damaged tothat defective part.i asked about an engine recall but never received an answer from them as they said the car was not under warranty and had no warrants under recall.

This is pertaining to an existing campaign (#03v084000).i bought a used 2002 nissan sentra ser spec-v in may 2007. Shortly after my purchase (june 2007), i had this outstanding recall, including several others performed.the above recall states that the pre-catalyst could overheat and disintegrate, blowing particulate into the combustion chamber, scoring the cylinder walls, and cause excessive oil consumption and possible engine damage, requiring engine replacement. There was approx. 65,000 miles on the car at this point.last february, i was driving along the highway when i suddenly lost power. I pulled over to the side of the road and found the engine would barely run and would not rev over 2000 rpm. I had this car towed 20 miles to my local nissan dealership. Upon inspecting the vehicle they told me that the pre-catalyst that i had already had replaced on the recall, had disintegrated, plugging my exhaust, blowing chunks of debris into my engine, therefore destroying the engine. I was told i'd need to replace the entire engine at a cost of $4300.00. This car only had another 50,000 miles on it after the initial recall work was done.since what happened to this vehicle was exactly what the original recall was supposed to prevent, i went to nissan, requesting that they stand behind this obvious design defect and at the very least assist me in replacing this engine. I was given several different stories ranging from accusation that i did not maintain this vehicle (even though i do so religiously at nissan dealerships) to stating the dealer i had the work performed at was at fault and i should pursue restitution from them, to the fact the car was no longer under warranty and i was sol and this was 'normal' wear and tear. Now, i can understand normal wear and tear but no catalytic converter should be designed sothat it will destroy an engine if it fails and this was supposedly addressed in the above campaign.

Catalytic converter deposits go back into engine scoring the cylinder walls.engine burning oil, potential fire and engine seizure.nissan says nhtsa campaign 03v084000 was performed.recent diagnosis shows code po 420,problem not fixed.nhtsa needs to issue another recall.

I haven't had the car for a year yet and i have already had the catalytic converter replaced twice & the engine replaced because there was no oil in it. What kind of car has these kind of problems? the gears shift hard now to where it about jerks you and i drive an automatic. Not to mention the dealership wouldn't even give me a rental while they had to practically replace the entire engine. *nlm

Bought nissan brand new in 2002.this car is only 8 years old with 75,000 miles.first the car started jerking when it sits still at stop signs and traffic lights.took the car to maintenance shop and paid to have the catalytic converter removed and replaced.however, after a few months, in april the car starts jerking again. Paid to have the ignition coils replaced by the dealership.car engine light still on and car still jerking.contacted nissan corporation and was told that the car was not under recall.now thedealership replaces the egr valve and 02 sensor.car engine light still on and car still jerking as if possessed as of august 20, 2010.money, money and more money.

Vehicle stalled while driving.vehicle was then towed to the dealership, who performed the ecm material 03v477000 repairs.vehicle stalled 20 times sincerecall repairs were performed.dealership was unable to remedy the problem. Dealership indicated that theydone all they could do, but were unable to find the cause ofstalling.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra se-r.the contact stated that her vehicle is experiencing pre-catalytic failure.one of the converters separated and went into the motor, causing high oil consumption and engine viruses.the current mileage is 102,000 and failure mileage was 99,000.updated 09/05/07.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stopped without warning.the instrumental panel illuminated after the failure occurred.the ecm was replaced and the failure was corrected for two weeks.the vehicle is currently being diagnosed by thedealer.the crankshaft also needs to be replaced.there is an excessive oil and antifreeze leak that could also be responsible for the failure.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 114,000 and failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra se-r.the service engine light began illuminating on the instrument panel and the exhaust began smoking.the muffler was replaced.the contact was notified of nhtsa campaign id number 03v084000 (engine and engine cooling:exhaust system: manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe).the dealer stated that because the muffler was repaired by another shop, they could not repair the engine.the vehicle was experiencing increased oil consumption, excessive smoking, and made a knocking sound.the current and failure mileages were 64,439.

When i went to get my oil changed the mechanic went to pull the dipstick out and since it is plastic and is located next to the manifold it dried out and broke. Now the metal part of the dipstick is stuck in the tube.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.the contact stated that all the fluids leaked out through the tail pipe.the dealer stated that the vehicle was previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 03v084000 (engine and engine cooling:exhaust system:manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe); however, the contact has no knowledge of this repair.the failure is currently worse than ever.the manufacturer will be notified.the failure mileage was 136,981.

*nlm

My turns signals and hazards flash unit intermittently work.

The consumer complained about other motorist exterior headlights.they were blinding when driving at night.the consumer stated that they are a safety hazard when coming in contact with the vehicle at night.

My turns signals and hazards flash unit intermittently work.

The 2002 nissan sentra ran fine for the first year. There were no major issues concerning the electrical system. In 2003 i noticed the turn signal would occasionally not work. For the last 4 years it still does not work correctly. The problem is very intermittent. It may work properly one day and not the next. Normally you will flip the turn indicator and nothing will happen. Then if you turn the steering wheel it would start to work. Sometimes it will not work no matter if you turn the wheel. Even when it does work the signal does not blink at a normal repetition. On two occasions i took the car to a dealer to get it fixed under the warranty. Both times i was told that it was a sensor and that problem was fixed. However, it still did not work properly.

1)car was parked in driveway while gone for the weekend.car was driven as recently as the friday prior to the start of the weekend.the car was to be driven for groceries sunday night, however when the car started, gas sprayed from below the car until the tank was empty.upon exiting the car, the driveway was covered in gasoline.car was then turned off.2)second occurrences of this failure.first occurrence was 3 months prior.3)after first occurrence, car was towed to local mechanic.fault was attributed to small animal chewing on fuel line and entering gas tank (found dead in tank).for second occurrence, car will be towed to dealership for repair.

Car stalls when driving.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 55 mph the vehicle stalled.although the dealer has not diagnosed the problem, the contact believes it to be the fuel pump. Updated 03/03/06.

While driving at any speed vehicle stalled.consumerrestarted the vehicle, and took it to the dealer for inspection.mechanicdetermined that the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced, and replaced it.the mass air flow sensor has been replaced several times but the stalling recurs.the oil pan, rear main seal and front engine seal were leaking oil.the vehicle drive belts also needed to be replaced.

The vehicle ran out ofgas, the vehicle was towed to the dealership, and consumer was told the gas tank contained a hole.

My 2002 nissan sentra se-r stalled several times and the check engine light came on.i took it to the nissan dealer and they said it was the throttle control unit.they replaced the unit twice because the first one was defective.ihave since taken the car back to nissan 4 times for the same problem.it is not being fixed properly.they also replaced the computer and charged me $1200 for what was basically an oil change.the check engine light just came on again today and i will take it back to nissan tomorrow.there is something definitely wrong with this car and it is dangerous to drive as it stalls out while i am driving.i am not going to rish mine or my childrens life because nissan can't figure out how to fix this dangerous problem! they keep blaming it on other things like the brand of gas i use!it's disgraceful how dealerships do this.

Took my car in for oil change and the dip stick plastic top broke off. Fortunatelythe mechanics managed to use some glue type product to the sick and retrieve it. They have ordered a new dip stick for me at no cost, but obviously, on reading your site this is a nissan problem and the garage that changed my oil should not be responsible for the replacement of the oil stick. A recall and different material should be used instead of plastic which goes brittle with heat of engine.

The oxygen sensors in my 2002 nissan altima completely broken away from the catalytic converter. (not at the bolt, but at the welded or fused end) this is allowing exhaust fumes to fill the insideof thecab of the automobile car.

Had to go to the dealer on two separate occasions. First time the light on the map light assembly was sticking. Took my dealer a 3 months! to get a new one in. Then maybe a few weeks later while im drivning the whole thing just fel out of the ceiling nearly hitting me in the head. It was replaced again, part in stock thank god. This happened twice but im putting the more recent date. The first was 12/14/01 when i took it in. 3 days after i got my car. It was fixed 4/11/02. Then it fell out of the celiing 7/29/02

While driving the vehicle on several occasions the doors have "unlocked" without any reason or action being taken.

My emergency brake has been almost non-existent since i bought the car. My driveway is a steep hill so its a must that i use it. On 2 occasions where someone else parked my car and only used the e brake and didnt put it in gear, we found my car halfway in the road (stopped) and then actually watched it as it started rolling backwards one night. When i get in my car to start it before pushing in the clutch i have to make sure my foot is firm on the brake or the car will start rolling backwards. I had it tightened at the dealer and have done it a few times since myself after being shown how only to have it revert to its non functional state each time.

When braking brake pedal went to the floor and caused extended stopping distance. The dealership repaired the brake line, but the consumer was still having the same problems.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and the rpms would not increase over 1,000. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The failure occurred several times. The dealer stated that a new rpm was needed instead of reprogramming the current one. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the engine and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 165,112.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra.the contacted stated that when idling at a stop light, the engine would suddenly stall.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed on the vehicle and the dealer repaired the crankshaft position sensor. The contact stated that later while driving 55 mph, the engine suddenly stalled. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the crankshaft position sensor was repaired a second time. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 161,000.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. While driving highway speeds, the vehicle lost acceleration and stalled. The contact maneuvered the vehicle to the shoulder of the highway and checked the oil level. The oil was approximately two quarts low. After twenty minutes, the vehicle started again and the failure recurred the contact had to call a tow truck to bring the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The diagnosis was that the pre-catalyst was damaged and clogged and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 03v084000 (engine and engine cooling) a few years back. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.

While braking the vehicle suddenly surged forward.this has occurred on six occasions.*nlm

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked with the ignition turned off, the vehicle unexpectedly rolled away and crashed into a pole. An occupant was present in the rear driver's side seat when the failure occurred but was not injured. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 186,385.

*ph

Dt: contact statedtransmission fell apart at 38,456 miles, and the second one fell apart a t39,007 miles.contacttalked to the dealer, who replaced the transmission . But he said they would only put rebuilt parts into it.contactwould like a new transmission. The first one wasput in on 7-1-05. She assumedthe first transmission was not put together correctly, and the second one was replaced with rebuilt parts on 7-26-05.

My transmission is terrible. I can't get into reverse. It is clunky. That's why they changed it for 2004. It always pops out of gear. If i take it to the dealer, they'll just tell me it's my driving like the other 1000 people out there i guess with the same problem.it needs to recalled and replaced with the 04 transmission. This is ridiculous.

1. Intermittent manual transmission problems since car purchased new. Gears grind, refuse to go into proper gear, pop out of gear (when driving!) problems are not continual, but do seem to be increasing. Dealer tells us there is no problem, as it cannot be replicated.. Car refused to start on one occasion, towed to dealer, where it "started up right away." problem has not recurred since.

*sc

Transmission is difficult to shift into 2nd and 3rd gear.the situation is worse on cold mornings, even after letting the car warm up, as suggested by dealer.at times, after vechicle is moving the gear selector can not be placed in next gear, causing vechicle to roll down street under no power until the gear lever will engage.

Loss of power in reverse and all upshifting.

*nlm

Transmission grinding noise going into 3rd gear.clunk noise from left front suspension.

The transmission (6spd of the spec v model) is defective. 3rd gear synchros go bad, shifting feel clunky/knotchy to where its hard to get in gear especially when its cold. Took it in the first time on 3/26/02 and they decided to replace the transmission. Dealer pulled transmission 1. Without discussing it with me and 2. Without having the part in stock. Took 2 weeks to get the new transmission in which if we hadnt fought with them they werent planning on giving us a rental. Now im taking it in again for the same problem. Grinding as it goes into 3rd. This time they say they are replacing it with a 2003 transmission and it should fix the problem. So apparently nissan is aware of the defect. Since its on 2 occasion i will put the later date. The first time it was taken in 3/26/02 and replaced 4/11/02 and now im taking it back in on 4/30/03 to be fixed again

I have a 2002 nissan sentra. I was going about 25 mph on a hwy. Ramp,it was wet out, and the ramp curved. I applied my brakes and they seemed to lock. I had no steering and they would not stop braking.i crashed hard into the curb. I watched other cars go by and they were fine. Then another nissan sentra came and the same thing. He also crashed into the curb . My damage is about $650. And this man's is over $2000. I had my tire arm replaced and my right front tire. We swapped numbers as i witnessed his accident.i have had my local dealer here in wi. Inspect my brake system and they say they are fine. I have called nissan and they say there is nothing they can do. My concern is safety here as this was very scarey and we could have been hurt very bad or worse. Please advise me as to my next step as i got no help from my dealer or nissan. Thank you.

While driving on the interstate at 70 mph vehiclelost power and stalled.also, the instrumental panel/ electrical system, and brakes failed. This forced the consumer to pulloff the road, and waited an hour to restart.

I hit a curb and my wheel broke off leaving just the center bolted to the car.the tire was not damaged.at that point the vehicle was pretty much uncontrollable and the tire and remainder of the wheel continued into traffic.the tire shop indicated they had never seen anything like this.the car appears to have sustained only possibly some alignment issues.this and the lack of damage to the tire seems to indicate that the impact was not that severe, yet there was the complete failure of the wheel.i have a photo of the now two pieces of the wheel.the car is not just an ser model sentrabut a ser spec v which includes 17" wheels instead of the 16s on the ser.i have not submitted anything to nissan as i previously had notified them of some frequently-warping brake rotors and they discounted my claims indicating i was driving to aggressively.however, the brake system was modified in subsequent models since the 2002 introduction of my car.

While driving the will stop running without warning or my service engine light will come on and my car will not start.this started about 5 years ago.

The rack and pinion steering gear assembly on our 2002 nissan sentra se-r was replaced by hall nissan of chesapeake, virginia.we took our vehicle into the this dealer for an annual state safety inspection.we informed the service department to check the steering system.we had experienced play in the steering wheel .the movement was up and down in the steering column.after the service department inspected our car we were told that the vehicle would not pass the virginia safety inspection unless the rack and pinion steering gear assembly was replaced.we were able to get the manufacturer (nissan) to "good will" half the cost ($971.52) of the replacement.our vehicle had 37,130 miles on the odometer on the date we brought it in for the annual safety inspection (11/18/2004).our vehicle has never been in a crash and is not misused in any way.

Steering is stiff when turning especially in cold weather.took to windsor, canada dealership and was diagnosed as rack and pinion. Did steering fluid flush to see if it would clear up.it improved slightly (weather is warm now) but is still a problem.i am 60, do not drive on bad roads, do not abuse car.regular check ups and oil changes have been done.was assured car would still be safe to drive, just be careful when turning.have negotiated with company for a discount as this is expensive repair and cannot afford at this time.will get 10% discount when i can afford to do it.car has less than 50,000 miles on it and i wonder why a major part has gone wrong at such a low mileage.this brand was recommended as a low repair car and i am very disappointed.i bought car in dearborn, mi.....later moved to canada. Dealership in windsor, on, canada is where it was diagnosed.

The steering wheel move back and forthwhile driving.consumer noticed that the steering wheel would wander from lane to lane. Consumer took vehicle to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined thatrack pinion needed to be replaced.

The plastic handle on the oil dipstick is broken. I have searched for a solution on the internet and found that this is a very common problem with nissan sentra. Mine is a 2002 sentra gxe.

I own a 2002 nissan sentra and at a routine oil change i was informed that the plastic handle on my oil dipstick broke off and the dipstick is stuck down in the tube.the dealer wants $350 to remove it.i understand that this is a very common problem and that it could cause more serious problems.

Oem side skirts do not fit right with car. Seem warped. Bow out in various spots along the body. Compared my car to others of similar model and they are flush while mine looks awful. Dealer replaced skirts only to have it look worse with the new ones. Supposed to have me meet with a rep but i was supposed to work around her schedule and never got the chance to meet her. No solution ever found nor did it seem they cared to find one. This time it took a month to get the parts in. Took in may 1, 2002 , parts replaced june 4, 2002

The driver door on 2002 nissan sentra gxe will not open unless i let down the window and open the door from the outside. It must be in the electrical system.

Trunk failed to open. Assembly loose and kept falling into valet mode. The first time i took it in they acted like i was stupid even though i tried to explain the problem to them. All they did was push it up out of valet mode and send me home. Problem persisted so i returned and told them that it must be loose or faulty. It was fixed that time and has been ok ever since.

The trunk lid on my 2002 nissan sentra gxe is free falling and has injured many.the dealer states that my trunk is within normal operation for my vehicle.i consider it to be very dangerous.it has fallen on the top of children's head and shoulders causing much pain.i have investigated to discover that all the trunk lids of the 02 sentra's that i tested are free falling.the 04 sentra's do not have this safety flaw.i am very worried that this is going to seriously hurt someone.since the purchase of my vehicle 5 children unloading backpacks from my trunk have been injured by the trunk lid falling on top of their head. I'm reporting the incident date as the purchase date because this has been happening since then.the injuries have occurred between then and now, 3/28/2004.please note that my trunk has fallen many times without causing injury.i would say the attempt to injury number to be 300 times.this is very dangerous.

While steering there is a loud clunking noise.dealership is aware ofproblem.

Whilecoming off ramp vehicle would not stop, causing consumer to lose control of vehicle. Took vehicleto dealer, and dealer replaced suspension system.

2002 nissan sentra gxewhen driving down the road and hit a bump and heard a loud rattling sound coming from front right tire. Checked it out and it seemed to come from the strut but have not replaced or fully diagnosed the problem.

Driver side front coil spring broke.

While driving on a paved hwy at 50 mph/rear tire blewout. 2 days later on another paved road at 30 mph my l/rear tire blewout. Same area on both tires. Same type of blowout. I think there is a major issue here. I am now scared to drive my vehicle. Dimsii ivoq entry posed after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis-----------770769.*nlm

Dip stick of a 2002 nissan sentra gxe has snapped off at the plastic handle and is now lodged in my oil tank. From what i have researched, this is a pretty common occurrence, resulting in high dealership charges and severe engine problems, including engine failure. Great work nissan!

While on a major highway at 4:30pmdriving about 60 mph, the accelerator stuck causing the 2002 nissan sentra se-r to accelerate uncontrollably. The floor mat had come loose and jammed the accelerator. I had to shift to and kick the pedal loose. Very nearly caused a major accident. This fault was the subject of an earlier recall, but the solution by nissan does not solve the problem. The floor mat easily comes off the puny little peg on the floor.

I'm not sure if the ecm reprogram that is out for my vehicle will remedy this by the dealer refused to fix it because i refused to pay for a recall! i was traveling low speed and decelerating to pull into my work and the car went into failsafe mode and almost caused me to crash and get hurt it was also on a city street when i was downshifting probably about 5-10 mph then i tried to turn and there was no power and a truck from behind was flying up on me and barely swerved out of the way to not hit me and it was a super humid hot day when it first happened! i have never had a major problem on my car! it has always been taken care of like it was royalty! the obd11 reads p0605 code and the description is a rom error it says, let me state even though my car is a 2002 it only has 28,750 miles on it and near perfect condition! i can erase the code and drive it then it will go into failsafe mode after driving for a few minutes! the dealership tried to tell me the ecu was fried and to bring it in and expect a minimum charge of a hour for them to just get my car in there building! that is not right! i have 2 recalls and that is all i want done! if the ecu was truly fried then the car would not be able to start at all! the car also sat for many years but was well properly stored and taken care of when it sat!

The car shut down sometimes when i stop in a red light. Even sometimes inside the freeway. When almost stop.i belive is a malfuntion of the engine control module ( ecm )

While driving 15 mph engine surged up to 30-35 mph ,and consumer lost control, hitting telephone pole.engine light was illuminating. Dealer contacted.

I got my oil changed by firestone on 8/6/05 and they told me after my vehicle was done that the dipstick was broken upon arrival of the vehicle.they told me it would cost 150 dollars to replace this.i told them that i got my oil changed in philadelphia prior to me moving down to texas at a jiffy lube.they advised me to call them and talk to them.when i called jiffy lube they told me that this was a known problem with nissan cars and that they often have to replace this on many vehicles.he suggested that i call a jiffy lube down in texas to see if they can replace this at 4 dollars cost as that is how much the part is.he told me that he wouldn't spend 150 dollars to do this.i called a jiffy lube in texas and they said they don't order those parts and that i need to call the dealer.i called the nissan dealer and told me that this isn't an issue with nissan cars and he would need to look at it before telling me how much it would cost to get it fixed.after further research on the internet i see that i am not alone and that there are many people who have a similar issue.i am going to get several opinions on how much this will cost and what needs to be done before giving anyone my money.i think that nissan should reimburse people for the amount it cost to fix this if they won't do a recall.

The oil level gauge (dipstick) of 2002 nissan sentra is very easy to break.my dipstick's a rubber/plastic handle was broken during oil change, and the blade was stuck in the tube and very difficult to get it out. A dealership asked $100 to just pull the broken blade out. I believe this is a direct result of poor design, and i have also seen numerous similar failures on nissan sentra. The manufacturer needs to recall this part immediately.

The throttle got stuck wide open, the floor mats are not secured enough which cause the problem, if this happens to a inexperienced driver they could be killed very easily!

I bought a 2002 nissan sentra se-r spec-v and in the one year that i had the vehicle, i've had a couple of things replaced due to defective parts. First, i had problems starting the vehicle and it was later determined that it was the fuel pump. Then they had to replace the clutch bearing because of some noise while shifting. Then they had to replace the cam sensor as the vehicle did not start one day. The vehicle constantly loses oil and one time it was bone dry after 3,500 miles. This seems like a constant problem for this model based on previous complaints. All in all, poor manufacturing of the engine components. After the floor mat recall, they replaced the floor mats and secured it to the carpet. Now, the carpet gets caught on the clutch pedal, so i have to shift the floor mats all the time.

Mechanic reported dipstick missing in 2002 nissan sentra.purchased a new dipstick; when i tried to insert it, i met resistance. Called dealer --still waiting for call back.looked on internet --hundreds (at least) of consumers describe the same problem. Defective dipsticks break and lead to repairs of $150 - $400 each incident to remove metal stick from engine.could permanently damage engine.manufacturer claims no knowledge of problem, though hundreds of consumers on one website have reported their occurrences.

I was at a red light, the light turned green, i pressed the gas pedal but it got stuck and i was not able to drive.there was a car behind me, so i managed to merge to the left using my steering wheel.i continued to press the gas pedal but it was completely stuck, and i was not able to hit the gas pedal to increase the speed of the car to drive away fromincoming traffic.i was finally able to cruise the car and merge left.iparked my car in a residential area.i turned the car off.i then manually pulled the gas pedal up away from the floor and managed to unstuck the gas pedal.

Dt:without warning the vehicle accelerated. While driving at about 30 mph the vehicle started accelerating on its own. Caller had to hit the brakes to get it to stop.he pulled off the road, turned it off, and restarted it. Caller says it was a gradual acceleration. Manufacturer told caller about recalls. Dealer was not concerned about the problem and will talk about it tomorrow.

About 2 months ago, my husband and i were driving to new jersey from maryland going north on 95.we were in the left lane going about 75 miles per hour when the car completely lost throttle response.my husband was pressing down on the accelerator but nothing was happening.this has been an on going problem with his 2002 nissan sentra spec v.we have had several throttle bodies replaced as this is what the computer is telling them the problem is.this is a safety issue because you will be driving normally at regular posted speeds, and without warning, the car losses response to pressing on the accelerator.i have tried to contact nissan regarding this matter but just received confirmation of the email.two nissan service departments have replaced the part several times without the satisfactory results.this is a safety issue because if he loses throttle response while on the highway and the vehicle behind him is not aware of what is happening as the vehicle slows, this could be a tragic accident.we have spent a lot of money trying to resolve this issue.i hope you can help with this matter.

Car turn off while driving.

Dt:afterstarting the car on may 15 2005 it was put in reverse and the accelerator went up, raising the rpms to 4000. This lasted 3-5 seconds. The consumer put the car into neutral and turned the ignition off. Then, turned the car off and t back on. He thought that it was a one time event, and maybe something that made the rpms to rise. . then in july 2005 the consumerwas sitting in the car, andthen the rpms increased to 6000 while it was in park. The consumer shut off the vehicle and turned it back on, and everything was fine again. The third time, five days later, while merging onto the highway, the consumer stopped to let the other car go, and consumer's vehicle took off.the car rolled forward, the rpms rose to about 6000, and the car sped up to 3-4 mph.the consumerpushed the brakes in and the car continued to go forward. Then t put the car in neutral, and waited, and about 3-5 seconds later the vehicle stopped racing. The car was taken to the dealership, who said that the car was road tested and could not duplicate the problem. The manufacturer has not been contacted. Updated 11/16/05.

The contact owns a 2002 nissan sentra. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and independently accelerated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 140,000.

My nissan sentra decided to stall out in the middle of a very busy intersection.was able to restart the nissan after about 15 seconds.later that day i was unable to start my car.battery was jumped and the car was running until i turned my headlights on.i had to be towed home.i believe my can sensor and crank sensor need to be replaced and there was a recall for this complaint before.

The accelerator freezes frequently. When it becomes unstuck, the car lurches either forward or backward depending on which gear it's in. I have had some near misses with other autos and structures.

I have a 2002 nissan sentra gxe that was bought on september 29, 2001 as a brand new car. The gas pedal hardens and does not respond when my foot press on it after the car has been stationary at a stop sign or at a red light.a second foot press on the gas pedal gets the car going but it causes the car to jerk back and the back wheels to skid as though i was putting excessive force on the acceleration.this has been very dangerous for me especially in wet weather.i brought the car to the dealer when i find out that the problem does not associate with the fact that the car was new and has to be broken in.on two occasions, when i complained of the problem, the dealer technician found build up in the throttle chamber and manually cleaned out the throttle chamber.however, the above described problem kept coming back and has proven to be very dangerous for me on the road.i would like to know why there are build up in the throttle chamber, and i would like for the dealer to find a permanent solution to this problem.

The floormat of my 2002 nissan sentra ser spec v got caught under my gas pedal causing it to become stuck to the floor. I was able to turn off the key and pull off to the side of the highway. I noticed that the floor mat keeps twisting where this will be a recurring problem. These are the factory floor mats. I checked to see if there was a recall, which there was, but the manufacturer states that my car was not involved in the recall. I explained that what happened to me is the reason for the recall, but they said that they would not replace the mats without charging me. I complained directly to nissan through their web site, and other than a confirmation notice they have failed to respond to my complaint. I'm sure that this condition will cause accidents, but nissan does not seem to care. This is a safety issue, i couldn't care less about getting new floormats, mine are in perfect condition, but are dangerous.*nlm

While applying the accelerator pedal vehicle failed to move. Consumer applied the accelerator pedal numerous times, andvehicle suddenly accelerated. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic could not duplicate theproblem.

Throttle pedal sticks. When going to take off from a stopped position excessive force needs to be used. Was told to clean throttle body and it didn't fix the problem.

*nlm

Dt*: the consumer stated while driving, the vehicle vibrated and jumped from side to side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they determined the rack and pinion andpower assist system needed to be replaced. The head gaket was leaking, the driver side window was i noperative, the oil stick was broken. Updated 02/24/06.

Both front power window regulators failed at the exact same time on the exact same day.the car is a 2002 nissan sentra with only 55000 miles.i am the third person in my family to have this happen with their 2002 nissan.i contacted nissan and nothing was done to fix the problem, i was told that they couldnt help my situation because there was no recall on the part.

Right drivers side window wont go up.
