My engine failed again while driving 70 mphs on the freeway, the very day after the car had been repaired for yet another defect sensor. It was a miracle i did not crash and kill anyone including myself. Each and every time i have taken the car in, i have requested it be checked for a short in the wiring. Each time i was told no. I later learned thar meant if it didn't show up on the computer, then they wouldn't look for it specifically. Following the latest hazard, i got in nissan's face. Nissan found a defect oxygen sensor this time. Upon retesting the vehicle, the emc (the brain of the vehicle) was found to be defective. I was also told had i driven the car any longer, the air conditioning unit would have blown too. Well, that explains all the lousy gas mileage this past year.so, here it is a week later and my vehicle remains in the shop with a back ordered emc with no available stock date in sight. I am renting a vehicle and am receiving very little assistance from nissan as to getting a rental vehicle in the meantime.i am quite concerned i have purchased a brand new spanking yellow lemon. I am quite concerned this vehicle, even with a new emc, will produce other defective sensors once the warranty has expired due to wear and tear from the old one. There are 45 sensors in the vehicle and only 5-10 have blown so far. Iam quite certain others are close to failure too. I am just as concerned when both the nissan representative and the service manager told me this part has been on back order for a very long time as so many vehicles have endured this problme, that the vehicle has not yet been recalled.

Passenger's airbag cover keeps lifting off. Dealer has replaced cover 3 times.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp flashed and remained illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,200. Ma 8/10/15

Was traveling eastbound on pa st rd 31, at 45mph, around 6pm, november 10. 2014, a 2006 chevy malibu darted out from a side street without yielding in front of my vehicle. As the other vehicle when darting out from intersection, the vehicle was directly in front of mine, therefore was unable to stop to prevent crash. Swerved right to try to avoid collision but was unable to avoid contact. Contact was made from the front driver side of my vehicle, as well as the rear driver side of the other vehicle involved. There was no air bag deployment and my vehicle is equipped with driver and passenger air bags.

Dealership replaced theclock spring and thewiring assembly to the steering columnat consumer's expense of $385.00.driver horn stopped working caused by faulty clock spring.

While traveling at 25 mphvehicle was involved in a rear end collision, and none of the airbags deployed.

Hit car in front of me at approx. 45 miles and hour.air bags did not deploy....auto shop says when i hit my brakes front of car dips down therefor missing my airbag sensors...don't you always brake when you are about to get in wreck?then what good are my airbags?

Had head-on collision while traveling at approximately 35-40 mph and air bags did not deploy.threepassengers were slightly injured.

After rear ending another vehicle at 40 mph front air bags did not deploy.dealer has not been contacted.

While driving 35 mph consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Then, vehicle stalled while in motion and hit the vehicle in front. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. Driver and passenger sustained minor injuries.

- the contactowns2001 nissan sentra.the contact stated that the problemwasthe passenger's side air bag.the contact had been told that the passenger's side air bag module had been replaced twice.each time after having the replacement made a couple of days later he could see the corners of the air bag lifting up again.the contactwas unsure if the air bag was actually replaced or whether the original was repaired poorly. The contact stated that the air bag keptcoming up in the same place.akupdated 03/07/07.

Consumer received a recall notice. The sensor light came on, and the motor stalled. This vehicle was having an assortment of electrical defects, includingpower windows.

While driving, the check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained until the vehicle was turned off.the consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and themechanic was notable to duplicate the problem.other failed parts were:electronic control module, catalytic converter, electrical coil, and the crank sensor. *sc

Was driving with children in the car on the highway home from work, and car shut off and stalled. Losing all power, and making it hard to steer off the road. Took it to a local car shop, they had told me there was a recall regarding this issue. And call nissan consumer affairs and they had told me there were no open claims .

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the contact was told that the engine control module failed. The dealer advised that there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 03v477000 (electrical system: ignition module) but the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vin was not available.the failure and current mileage was73,000.

The service engine soon light went on 2/1/09. Trouble was reported on 2/5/09 when vehicle was delivered for service at midas auto service, 463 glynn st., fayetteville, ga. Refer to invoice where a relay/ecm was replaced. The vehicle was driven home to owner's residence at 6302 morgan place ct., atlanta, ga. A potentially catastrophic event followed when the owner was driving the vehicle was driven on an atlanta interstate and the car cut off and a serious wreck was somehow averted. Vehicle was subsequently towed to firestone complete auto care; 2460 n druid hills rd. Ne. Symptom was described:''cut off while driving. Oil light and battery light came on first'. The service report said in part, 'has blown ignition fuse and no power to the coils, replaced fuse and everything seems to be working ok. The remaining comments can be found in the service report. Vehicle was driven home. Next problem occurred on 2/9/09 when owner was leaving to go to work in the morning. The vehicle engine cut off on a local route. The car was subsequently towed to midas auto service, 6550 roswell rd., sandy springs, ga. The diagnostic package revealed, '' codes p0140, p0505, p0137, and p0460 which indicated a total emissions failure on the cat converter and all four o2 sensors. Subsequently, the vehicle ignition relay circuit (relay replaced 2/1/09) repeatedly blew fuses. The vehicle was subsequently driven back to midas auto service, 463 glynn st., fayetteville, ga without incident. The diagnostic evaluation and subsequent research indicated that the ecm module was defective. The safety recall from nhtsa campaign id no. 03v477000, came up in the midas research and it was determined that the lining material from the ecm box had not been replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle jerked and stalled and the service engine warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnostic testing where the technician advised the contact that the computer would have to be replaced. After the replacement the rpm reading would remain at 2000 and the speed would remain at 30 mph without depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic stated that the idle air control valve would have to be replaced because the wires had been damaged when the computer was installed. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Recall for crankshaft kit and recent shut down of engine.*mrthe vehicle was service at the dealer for a crankshaft sensor recall.after the recall was performed the vehicle stalled.the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who performed a diagnostic test on the vehicle.the test indicated that the crankshaft sensor was the problem.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer the vehicle was then towed to the dealer who stated that i the diagnostic test he runs came up as the crankshaft sensor then the consumer would not have to pay the diagnostics fee.the diagnostic was run and the test indicated that the crankshaft sensor was the problem.the dealer then stated that although the test indicated that it was the crankshaft, it really was not the sensor but the wiring around the crankshaft.therefore the consumer had to pay the diagnostic fee.the consumer feels this is completely dishonest and irresponsible of the dealer.

Consumer received recall 03v477000 concerning electronic control module ( emc) material:vehicle was taken to the dealer forrecall repairs, and immediately started having problems with the horn not working.approximately a week later, vehicle would not starteven though the dealer performed recall repairs.

2001 nissan sentra se - horn has been dead for months - wiring assembly near radiator is shortedmay 14, car died during operation and started only intermittently - mostly not - wiring defect to engine control module - no service engine light warning.

My 2001 nissan sentra gxe started sputtering in feb 05, also an electrical buzzing sound would occur at the same time. The car stalled out once while driving. Taken to dealership and i was told the ecm was bad. It was replaced free of charge (hidden 8yr/80,000 mile warranty on that part). The next day it was doing the same thing. I took it back to the dealership and the starter/ecm sensor was replaced. I'm still not convinced the problem is fixed and worry every time i drive it.

Nissan sentra 2001 had a recall to remove the foam covering the ecm. I had this done june 2004..the problem with the foam was as it cured , if there was acrack on the surface lining, corrosion of the resistor could cause the ecm to malfunction. Well i had the foam removed but i feel the corrosion was probably already occurring so in 6 months the ecm went bad. Nissan refused to pay to replace the ecm.

Electrical system malfunctioned. As a result, all electrical components failed.

While traveling on the highway without prior warning.the vehicle shut down completley.and also there were no brakes the dealership is aware of the problem.nlm

Car constantly shuts off while driving, steering and brakes lock up as well. It does this idling at lights and while driving making turns. Very dangerous! i have replaced several sensors (at my expense) to try to keep the car going, but i'm terrified to drive it as i fear it will stall again in traffic and potentially kill me and my family. Checked my vin against the many recalls that would cause these problems and states that none of these recalls apply to this car! nissan used to be a good company, now it's just a lemon factory! not to mention their dealership service is absolutely useless! i don't see how such dangerous and potentially deadly issues do not have recalls on them!!!

1. Power windows (both front driver and passenger side front) failed to operate properlyin my 2001 nissan sentra vin: [xxx] within 12 month afterit was purchased brand new. I took it to the nissan dealer (coral springs nissan) and was told that it was not under warranty and was not manufacturing defect.i recently search on the internet and found many other 2001 nissan sentra encountred the same problem.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2. My second problem started recently where my car's engine suddenly quits running after 15-20 minutes of normal driving. If i let it cool down and wait 10-15 minutes, it starts and runs for another 10 minutes before quiting again. My sentra was recalled once( campain#: 01v357000) in jan 2004 to replace the fault crank shaft sensors, yet i am still having this problem.on nhtsa website i see information about campaign#: 03v455000. ,however nissan customer service is not acknowledging that crank shaft sensors in my car need to be further replaced for the second time.please review my situation and advise.best regards,[xxx]. Intermittent problemscar stalling while driving, car rough idle, car not starting, car spurting while driving, car not going into overdrivecar has been towed twice, been to two dealers, and 1 mechanic that told me that it is in the computer system and that the dealer needs to fix the problem.from my research, diagnostic codes are either not being reported by a bad sensor or the ecm is not storing the diagnostic codes.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact was driving 40mph and the service engine light came on. Shortly after the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the nearest emergency exit. He had the vehicle towed to local service station. The vehicle still has not been repaired as of the time of the complaint. The contact informed the manufacturer and he was told that they were aware that the problem exist with his vehicle, but there was no recall for his specific vehicle identification number. The manufacturer stated that they are only covering two engines types and the contact vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact will have to get his vehicle repaired at his own expense. The contact was told by local dealer after his vehicle was inspected that the failure was his ecn which is the computer in his vehicle. There are no spark and no fuel going into the vehicle. The failure and currentmileages was 151000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the ignition failed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 164,000.

Car was driven the day before, ran just fine. Next morning, after driving about 1 mile, began running terrible. The ecu (ecm) is no longer sending a signal to the number 2 ignition coil. I know that these cars had a recall on the foam covering the ecu, that recall was done and foam removed. Car only has about 60,000 miles on it because in belong to a 90 year old lady, she bought it new.i have found that hundreds of these cars now have bad ecu, time for a recall!!

Vehicle experienced anelectrical failure.

While driving down the road at 40 plus miles an hour the catalytic converter clogged and caught fire causing a misfire in cylinder one and ruining the ignition coil for that cylinder. I contacted nissan after seeing online that the exact same part has malfunctionedon several other cars of the exact same year make and model. I was instructed to take it to a nissan dealership and have them diagnose the problem for a $89 fee. Even if i had the 89 dollars to pay to have it diagnosed it would not have paid it. I did not use faulty material in the manufacture of the vehicle and feel that any diagnostic fee should have been absorbed by nissan north america since they voluntarily recalled the part. It could have burst into flames and ignited the unused fuel in cylinder one killing me and my children. Upon further investigation into my vehicle it had already had the part replaced once and it started to fail again after i was the unlucky person to buy it. After the purchase of this vehicle, i have replaced the head due to a sand like material that eats away the head gasket. This material is a product of the catalytic converter crumbling and being sucked into the enginescylinders. I have replaced countless sensors and even the cars computer to try to solve the issue. After fixing the issue myself and removing the suspect part i have not had any issues with the vehicle. I am very displeased with the way nissan has chosen to deal with the issues that consumers of their product have. It was explained to me that since the dealerships are privately owned they can charge for diagnosis even if it is to verify if the previously recalled part is eligible for the recall. Had it not been eligible it would be responsible for any repair attempts made by nissan. So i fixed it myself and vowed never to buy another nissan vehicle.

The vehicle was purchased used in oklahoma in april 2013, and all the dash gauges quit on the way home, along with the odometer going out.after the car cooled down, the gauges/odometer started working again.the car was then driven cross country to washington state, and when the heater was turned on, and after a few minutes, the gauges/odometer stopped working again.once cooled off, the gauges/odometer would start working again.the car was then driven to texas, and the same issues came up, all centered around temperature.it seems when the heater is turned on (while the vehicle was in wa), or if it is hot outside (the drive to texas, and while the car has been in texas), the gauges will stop working after a period of time, and will start working again once the temperature inside the car has cooled down.currently we are having 100 degree weather days in texas, so if the car is hot when leaving the house, the gauges won't work, until the ac has been on enough to cool the inside of the car (and i assume gauges) down.using the car after the ac has been on and the inside of the car is cool, there is no problem with the gauges.if you turn the ac off and roll the windows down, once the heat builds up in the car (about 85 degrees or so), the gauges will go off again.

The horn assembly failed.

Consumer received recall 03v477000 concerning electronic control module ( emc) material:vehicle was taken to the dealer forrecall repairs, and immediately started having problems with the horn not working.approximately a week later, vehicle would not starteven though the dealer performed recall repairs.

Horn stopped working, dealer said break in harness was the cause.

Dt: while driving a child came in front of vehicle and the owner tried to use the horn and it didn't work.the owner noticed about two months ago the horn stopped working. Dealer charged 89 dollars for diagnosis, and reported that there was a problem with the wiring harness. Dealer reports that since the vehicle is past warranty, then there would be no financial responsibility on the part of nissan. Owner noticed others have had the same problem with vehicle. The horn has not worked since the first failure, and there are no warning lights on in the vehicle. There was also a problem with the gas pedal sticking and the dealer reported that wasa normal maintenance issue.nissan reports that there is nothing they can do to help.

2001 nissan sentra se - horn has been dead for months - wiring assembly near radiator is shortedmay 14, car died during operation and started only intermittently - mostly not - wiring defect to engine control module - no service engine light warning.

Horn suddenly stopped working.

I have had multiple ongoing problems with this vehicle. .i have had to bring it in four times for an inoperative horn. I would discover that horn was not working, i'd bring it in and it would function, then a couple of months would pass and again it would be inoperative.they finally replaced the harness, and it has been working for 2 straight months. This might not seem like a big deal, but it is a safety issue. I have brought it in twice for a broken ignition wire.the first time they were unable to locate the problem.the car was released to me and two days later i had it towed in because it was dead.i have had break issues, my breaks were apparently warped and not functioning properly.the latest thing to go was the fuel pump.i was driving on the highway, in the middle lane, during rush hour when the car just stopped. I had no where to go and was stuck in the middle. A frightening experience.i am now told that they don't know when my car will be fixed, nor are they willing to provide me with alternate transportation. Am i just supposed to acceptt that all of this goes wrong with my 2001 car? i bought a new car so i would have safe and reliable transportation. This has yet to happen. These problems have plagued me since the beginning and its only getting worse. I am at kelly nissan witha major issue an average of once every 3 months. I do not believe this car is safe to operate. What are my rights as a consumer?

Several times the vehicle starts shaking, not starting at all and running rough. It was a ecm recall performed but after that several problems occurred and related to the same ecm. However, the vehicle is no longer under warranty and i have to pay for all these problems. The ecm was replaced by the time, the problem is still there, i am getting the same diagnostic p0300 and the vehicle is dead. Poor quality on this nissan. I have a 1996 sentra which is by far more reliable than this junk!

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. He stated that while driving approximately 10 mph and approaching a stop sign or traffic light the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated each time the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the electronic control module was not responding to the engine. The mechanic also stated that recall number 03v477000, electrical system, ignition module was related; however, the manufacturer confirmed that his vin was not included. No repairs have been made. The current and failure mileages were under 110,000.

Nissan sentra 2001, problems with steering and brakes.the consumer was never notified of 2 recalls before the failure occurred.the dealer informed the consumer that corrosion and a loose battery terminal caused the vehicle to become inoperative.the dealer stated either recall could have caused the vehicle to stall.

Consumer nissan sentra engine began to run rough before recall notice.diagnostic read ecm had a failure code for #4 cylinder misfire p0304.the consumer requested to have the ecm replacment performed.

While driving, the vehicle stalled. Thevehicle was towed to a dealer, who performeda diagnostic test to determine the cause of the problem. The consumer believed the problems associated with the vehicle were related to recall 03v455000 and 03v477000.

New ignition switch needed on a 2001 nissan sentra!

I own a 2001 nissan sentra. Several months ago, the horn stopped working. We finally took it in to our local mechanic and he called saying the horn works, the fuse is fine and the relay works, but somewhere between the fuse and the relay, it's losing power; likely a short in the wire. But they said it is wired in such a convoluted way that it's going to take another 2 hours to find the right wire and fix.i found this in an internet message board:"just curious if any others have issues with their 00-06 sentra horns...meaning you hit your horn or key fob and no sound from the horn? i had my 2001 se fixed around 60,xxx...found out from nissan that the wires are a bit short running to the horn speaker...i think the wiring goes under the radiator. It gets stressed and rubs somewhere and due to corrosion or total breakage the horn then no longer functions. The part i'm pissed about is that now at 68k the problem is once again back. I know according to my father who use to work for a company that provides technical support to private garages around the u.s. That this in fact is a common problem with these sentra's, but according to nissan does not require an ntsb. Safety feature in my opinion. Nissan says i'll have to bring it in and pay for diagnosis. I think i call the regional manager. Twice i've had someone almost hit me and i have no horn.''nissan said check the fuse...their typical response. After talking at length to the nissan dealer that last fixed this issue they finally gave up and said it sounded like the same issue was back."after this, i called my local nissan repair shop (517 393-5700) and spoke with the service manager. After telling him the problem, he put me on hold and checked their records. He indicated to me that yes, this is a problem with this make/model of nissan, but that there was nothing nissan nor they could do re: fixing the horn which is caused by an admittedly poorly designed horn wiring system.

The wiring harness was defective, which caused the horn not to work.

Horn stopped working, wiring harness was corroded.

1. Horn stopped working.diagnostics have isolated the problem to a short in the wiring harness likely due to the way it is routed around the vehicle radiator. Dealership says it has seen this problem before.radiator and associated hardware will have to be removed to get to the short, requiring an entire day of down-time plus extensive hourly repair bill.2. Non-operating horn prohibits required state vehicle inspection. Vehicle fails inspection.3. Repairs still have to be made.

Safety-related defect:the horn wire inside an internalwiring harness on my 2001 sentra failed spontaneously on or about february 15, 2006, rendering the horn inoperable and incapable of passing the rhode island state safety inspection. Three different employees of the dealer (inskip nissan, warwick ri) made statementsto me indicatingthat this type of horn failure happens repeatedly, is well known to them, and is not caused by any external force, such as collision or road damage.i have inspected the area, which is near the underside of the radiator, and it is clear that the wiring harness is well protected by various front-end components and hard to get at.the broken wire was repaired by the dealer on 4/5/06 at a cost of $180.00 for a little over two hours work.the dealers service clerk told me exactly what the cost would be at the time she wrote up the repair order, prior to inspecting the vehicle for the cause of the horn failure.i suggested an inexpensivebypass wire, and she stated that others had effected a repair in that manner (further evidence that the nature of the failure is well known the them) butalso understandably stated that they were not permitted to perform the repair in that manner.i submitted a copy of the repair billto nissan consumer affairs on 4/8/06 asking for reimbursement of the $180 as a safety-related defect, and they wrote back on 4/12/06 denying the claim.the nhtsa should look into this by inspecting dealer service records and initiate a recall.

My car completelystopped on the higghway after my check engine and oil light came on.i took the car to a dealer .they said i had 4 recalls on this car and they repaired 3 of the 4 recalls. Later that day they said they had to go back in my engine because the timing will not set and the car is stiill shuuting down. The car is still in the shop .the 4 recalls were susp bolt, ecm foam, headlamp and crank sensor.

My vehicle broke down this morning, the problem is an active recall that nissan is now performing on my vehicle. The breakdown and diagnostic checkout of the my vehicle replicates the same vehicle, year and problem that nissan is repairing except they say that my vin number is not on the recall list.

Engine quit while driving on interstate without warning. Engine check light came on.car had no power.car had to be towed.told that crank position sensor needed to be replaced.this was replaced and then told that vehicle was still not working and that the wire harness was broken.the computer and wiring were moving around.waited for this part from april 24th to may 31st.this part was replaced on june 3rd and was told that engine would still not run.i have been without my car since april 22nd; please give me more information.

While driving at night with headlights on, they will cut off withoutprior warning, leaving consumer without a vision of the road.dealer was contacted.please provide more information.

In the past 6 months, i have experience the car shutting down when the car is idle, at a stop, or during movement a low speeds such as making left or right turn.i have had different mechanics looked at this issue, but neither one was able to pin point the issue.they have reset the 'service engine' light so many times, but this issue keeps returning.researching this issue on the internet, i found a recall on nissan sentra that seem to have the same experience as i have been experiencing (01v357 and 03v455).i called nissan for details on this issue and they explained that my vin number was not in the list of recall vehicles.i filed a case with nissan (case# 11305573)however, i would like to bring this issue to your attention since it might cause injuries to others when the engine shuts off without warning.i believe my vehicles with similar vin should also be checked for faulty ecu and/or wire sensor.

The car is jerking and the engine light is one and the place where i took it show a recall of the crank position sensor issue. I put in my vin on your site and it said that there is no issue but yes its showing up.what is need to be done to get this corrected by nissan?

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact indicated that the vehicle stalled several times and the service engine sensor illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle each time, but the failure progressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop more than once, but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired and continued to stall. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 03v477000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Was driving at a speed of around 45 mph on a busy colorado roadway and the car all of the sudden stalled.lost engine power, power steering and brakes.luckily coasted to the shoulder. The car had to be towed to an automotive shop. It was diagnosed and it was determined the crankshaft and camshaft sensors had failed. I called nissan on 7/12/2016 and reported this safety issue (reference number 22954833). On 7/14/2016 i talked to [xxx] at nissan and he said this was recalled in 2003 and an already closed recall. I asked him if he was going to report this incident to nissan engineers department, because it is a safety issue and a recent recall issue. I stated that because the car stalled while driving that put people?s lives at risk. I asked the nissan representative [xxx] if there have been any other complaints with this car's model about the fact that the crankshaft and camshaft sensors are still failing. He said he didn't know. The nissan representative [xxx] stated to me that with the age of the car this is expected to happen with these parts. I stated to him that because the crankshaft and camshaft sensors are still failing, therefore causing a car to stall while driving is a safety issue and should be reported.he said he was not going to report it to anyone. I stated i was going to report it to the nhtsa, because it is a safety issue and they need to know the issue still exists from their previous recall.

Gas pedal sticks at idle that have to press hard to get moving g again and the vehicle surges forward once the pedal is unstuck. Happens when stopped at stop lights waiting for green signal or stop signs.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator flashed and then remained lit. Multiple independent mechanics inspected the vehicle, checked the diagnostic trouble codes, and indicated that the mass air flow sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact experienced a no crank to start condition, reduced engine power, and the vehicle stalled intermittently. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) and 01v357000 (engine and engine cooling); however, the failure experienced was the same as listed in the recall campaigns. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and had not verified if the part was still available or if a newly designed part had been developed. The failure mileage was not available.

Randomly while driving in a highway at 60 mph the engine suddenly stops running and then turns back on. This could result in a crash since i lose control of the vehicle at that speed.i noticed there is a recall issued by nhtsa id # 03v455000 for nissan sentra 2001 regarding this issue. I contacted nissan by phone and they informed there are no recalls pending on my vehicle.i also contacted nissan by e-mail if my vehicle was or was not included in this recall.if not, i would like to know if safercar.gov can include my vehicle in the recall and have it fixed.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 75 mph on the interstate, the engine stalled without warning.afterwards, the engine restarted without further incident.the vehicle was driven to a dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem.although the stalling problem did not persist, the check engine light illuminated.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop who determined the crank cam sensor needed to be cleaned.afterwards, the check engine light illuminated again.the manufacturer was alerted.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph when the engine exhibited low engine power with hesitation. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where the oxygen sensor was replaced. After the repair was performed, on a separate occasion the engine stalled five times and restarted before reaching the destination. The contact discovered a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 01v357000 (engine and engine cooling: engine: gasoline). The vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The top of the plastic dipstick in my 2001 nissan sentra broke off today and the dipstick itself slid down into the engine when this happened.from what i've seen, this is common with many other nissan sentras.i now need to find a replacement dipstick and was fortunately able to retrieve mine (even though it's now broken).however, some dealerships are trying to charge over $100 to retrieve the dipstick.this is a problem that needs to be recalled.also, my power windows are starting to stick and not go up and down.my car is barely 3 yrs old; this shouldn't be happening.there needs to be a recall on this too.

While moving and sitting at a standstill for a couple minutes at idle speed it will stall.

Took 2001 nissan sentra to penzoil to have the oil changed. When the service man attempted to pull the oil stick out to verify the new oil level, the molded plastic handle of the stick broke, leaving the metal stick out of reach, down the long metal tube that leads to the engine. To make matters worse, part of the molded plastic was attached to the top of the stick, making retrieval by magnet an impossibility.

Car reads trouble code p0335 crankshaft position sensor a circuit malfunction andi read on line at lemonauto.com that there was a recall on the same problem affecting nissan sentras from 2000-2003 campaign # 03v455000 so i contacted the number that i was given "1800-647-72-61 and asked them about it but they had no clue.

2001 nissan sentra 1.8l my car head gasket failed and it seems to be a manufacturer problem with a faulty head gasket that should be looked at. The car overheated on the highway all of the sudden in a fast traffic lane and it started loosing power on an incline, it was scary.

While driving at 65 mph the vehicle started to smoke and stalled on the highway.the vehicle has had a problem with sputtering three times but it did not stall.the dealer examined the vehicle and found that the coil assembly failed.this vehicle has had seven recalls and four of them have been engine related.upon picking up the vehicle the check engine light came on.the dealer examined the vehicle again and found that the catalytic converter was defective.

While driving at high speeds vehicle stalled. *tc

While driving vehicle stalled.the consumer restarted vehicle, andhad the it towed to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic determined that electrical system needed to be checked.the consumer informed the mechanic that this problem occurred more than once, and the problem had not been resolved.the dealer determined that the problem was that the ecu (engine control module) failed. *sc

On june 24,2004 i had a crankshaft position sensor and emc foam removal recalls done on my 2001 nissan sentra.my vehicle has totally shut down with out any noise or warning while driving at least 4 times since december 2004. There were no accidents or injuries involved. I had taken my sentra to a nissan dealer for a diagnostic check on jan.31,2005 and they told me that the electronic control module did not show any codes and that it was a loose battery cable so they replaced it. Less than 24 hours later the vehicle shut down again while driving and was taken back to the dealer asap. The service rep then told me he put his best technician to work on my vehicle and he found the crankshaft possition sensor was bad and it was replaced, but when i question the rep about the emc codes again he told me that he did not know what the problem was because my sentra was the first vehicle to do this with a recalled sensor.i am very concerned about the emc and this recalled sensor because this is a very serious safety issue. Nothing was done by the nissan dealer to assure me that my vehicle will not do this again.

There was no accident, but when my husband took the car to get the oil changed the mechanic realized that the dipstick had broken off and had fallen into the tube.the mechanic also told my husband that there were other people that had the same problem.he said that it was a nissan fault on the car.i don't feel that we are responsible for paying to get it fixed since the dipstick is made of plastic and is so close to other heated engine parts.being so close to those other parts surely made the piece melt and later break off.

While driving, the vehicle stalled. Thevehicle was towed to a dealer, who performeda diagnostic test to determine the cause of the problem. The consumer believed the problems associated with the vehicle were related to recall 03v455000 and 03v477000.

The handle of my oil dipstick on my 2001 nissan sentra gxe broke. I was told that i would have to pay $500 inorder to get the handle out. This has happened to many people and there should be a recall and should be fixed free of charge.i still haven't been able to get the dipstick out.

In addition, the vehicle would intermittently stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where she was advised that the catalytic converter was defective and would need to be replaced. The contact believed nhtsa campaign id number: 03v455000(engine and engine cooling) was associated with the failure but the dealer advised her vin was not included with the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 191,565.

The oil dipstick handle breaks off and the balance of the dipstick is unable to be retrieved out of the dipstick cylinder unless the whole assembly is taken apart.this a very costly procedure ranging from $200-400.this has happened more than one time and it seems to me that nissan should provide a better quality dipstick that will not deteriorate and break from what i perceive as heat related damage. Will they pay the costs for this repair?

Leakage to the head gasket in 2001 nissan sentra.according to my mechanic, this is a problem that occurs frequently in this vehicle due to inferior materials (aluminum) used in the materials used for the head gasket.it was noticed as i was driving my daughter to school and without warning, the car began to stall on a very busy street.i have had frequent preventable maintenance serviced on my car and this was not detectable until it is too late.my mechanic has since replaced the part and had to take apart half of the engine to do so which turned out to be very costly.it cost $1,500 which is almost a third of the car's current blue book value.

3 of 7 recall notices related to engine sesnors others related to wheel replacement;and front suspension boltsengine light eluminated prior to 3rd engine sensor recall notice; diagnostic done; 3 weeks klater engine sputtered, stopped and smoked while driving on a highway at speed limit, near collission; 2001 nissan sentra towed to dealer; $485.00 engine coil assembly maintenenace done; 2 miles off lot engine light on again; nissan wants to charge for additional repairs needed because they say the engine repairs are not connected to the engine sensor recall notices. They say the repeated purchase of tires are also not connected to the wheel replacement recall for which the wheels were not upon their inspection. Issue is wheels are separating and engine continues to fail and i keep spending money in the hopes a 21 year old can drive safely.

While i was having my oil changed, the dipstick broke.nissan tells me that this will cost $366 to fix!!! after looking online, hundreds of other people have had the same problem.the guy at troncolli nissan in atlanta says that its basically "tough luck" because i should have paid the insane prices of a dealership oil change.nissan needs to recall this because it is obviously a problem, and if they fix them before they break it will be only a small cost.

2001 sentra gxe not driveable; engine revs and lurches on its own and will not accelerate. First time i was at home, had the car towed and replaced mass airflow sensor. $835and less than 48 hours later, car did exact same thing only at a stoplight this time.car died and began revving and lurching as soon as i re-started engine. Towed to original mechanic who couldn't determine problem. Car is now at dealer waiting to be looked at.

On a way home from a long trip (160 miles each way), my car suddenly stopped running on a highway. It started again and ran for another 30 miles or so and completely stopped running and did not restart. I had the car towed to a nearby garage where it was diagnosed to require a new cam position sensor. I was told to have the car towed to a nearby dealership because parts were not available. My family had to drive 200 miles to get me home. Recently, "service engine" warning light came on during two long trips, but the light went away after replacing or tightening the gas cap. At the time of the event, no warning light was on. The dealership (high point) called later and said that "the good news" was that i did not have to pay for the replacement of three recalled parts, two of which caused the failure. The car was repaired and i drove 200 miles to get it home. I had no knowledge of the recall until this incident even though the recall campaign has started before we purchased the car at a nissan dealership as a used car on feb. 29, 2004. Should this have been repaired before the purchase, or should we have been notified at the time of purchase, the problem would not have occurred. There were much expenses associated with towing, extra engine check as well as personal time spent on driving back and forth. I would like to know if this is in violation of a law.i recently spoke with a friend who owns a same model car. Their dealership (service department, might be under the same ownership) told themthat their car would need some sensors which may sometimes cause their "service engine" light to come on. Yet no information of recall or potential severity of the problem have been given to them. This makes me wonder if some dealerships are not only neglecting recall campaign but also intentionally avoiding the recall repair.

Metal piece of oil dipstick broke off and fell into engine.unable to retrieve.poor design noted.

Afterrecall repairs for crank position sensor wasdonevehicle experienced same problem statedinrecall, resulting in a bad accident.dealer contacted.

Approaching a stop light the engine quit. Engine check warning light came on and the car would not start.the car was towed to tustin nissan and they replaced the crank position sensor.i saw a recall for 2000 sentra's but not 2001.

*sc

Hello, i own a 2001 nissan sentra.i've had the car for about 3.5 years and during that time it's had at least 4-5 recalls.most recently i took it in for the engine control module case holder recall in early march.this recall was to fix a problem that could result in the engine shutting off while driving. About two months later, i was on the road sitting at a red light, and all of the sudden the engine shut off.i though that maybe i had it in gear and i just released the clutch on accident, but it happened two more times on that trip.now i constanstly have the engine shutting down on me while driving or when sitting in idle.it has happened during turns in which it made it very very difficult to steer as the power steering is cut off.i did take the car in for inspection and they told me that it was a bad air flow meter.i declined to have it fixed as i thought that it should be covered under warranty.i even wrote a letter to nissan consumer affairs, and requested they fix my vehicle.however they declined.

I have received only one recall request on my vehicle since i have owned it in 2001. There are now several recalls on my vehicle make and model. I have the problems with my vehicle that are described in a couple of the different recalls. I called nissan to find out why i was never notified of the recalls listed. They informed me that my vehicle because of the vin number did not fall under the recall. I explained that i have the exact problem described in the recall. The told me that i am just having the same problem and it has nothing to do with the recall. *nlm

While driving at 35 mphvehicle stalled and shut down in the middle of the highway.before total shut down steering wheel andbrakes locked up, almost resulting in an accident. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who in turn informed the consumer that the crank positioning sensor was defective.there was a recall on this vehicle, but not for consumer's vin number.the dealer wanted to chargeconsumer for recall repairs. Manufacturer was notified of the problem.

I have a 2001 nissan sentra and the "service engine soon" light has come on. I noticed from the nissan web site that there are three recalls that may result in the light coming on. My car falls within the vin range listed on nissan web site. So, i contacted one of the nissan dealers and was told that they could have my car inspected for $81 because the vehicle is not in the warranty any more. I contacted the nissan national consumer affairs office and was told the same thing. I don't understand why i have to pay the diagnostic fee if the car is on the recall list and may have a safety related defect. I am sure nissan (or nissan dealers) can make huge money by just diagnosing defective nissan vehicles.

The plastic portion of my oil dipstick broke off on my 2001 nissan sentra gxe.this caused the dipstick to fall into the engine.i had to pay for a new dipstick.the new dipstick is also plastic and i anticipate that this will happen again.it does not take a genius to realize that you should not use plastic on an engine part!!!

The vehicle stalled, due to a defective crank position sensor.

My vehicle almost stalled on the freeway. A vehicle behind me had to swerve out of the way to avoid rear ending me. I was able to drive home at a slow pace. Took my vehicle which is a 2001 nissan sentra gxe to the dealership to get a diagnostic check. The dealer informed me that my problem was the ecu system. They told me that the ecu system needed to be replaced. I searched online for any recalls for that particular vehicle model. There were 8 recalls for that years model. One of the recalls involved the ecu system. The problem with the recall was consistent to the problem i was having with my vehicle. I called nissan and informed them about the problem. They had already archived my vehicles vin number and i had to wait 24 hours for them to reach me to only advise me that there were no recalls for that vehicle. I know of one recall i received in 2004 about the headlights. Many vehicles for that particular year have had the same problem with the same results. Nissan does not want to take responsibility for their "lemons." my vehicle only has 82000 miles on it. The ecu should not be bad. I am disappointed that there is a recall but for some reason it does not include my vehicle which was archived and it has not been 10 years.

Defective crank position sensor, which causedengine to cease twice while driving. Car was towed to dealer, who said they would look at it. Meanwhile, went to nissan website and found the exact cause. I then called nissan consumer affairs and was informed my car should have been recalled. I then called dealer's svc mgr, who said he wasn't sure. I told him i spoke with their consumer dept and they confirmed the car had a recall problem.he called back 2 hrs later and said my car was fixed.i asked about the $65 towing refund. He said to call nissan consumer affairs. All owners of 2001 nissan should immediately be notified of this danger. *nlm

The vehicles vin was not included in a recall related to the camshaft sensors which caused the vehicle to stall while driving (recall number 01v-357000).*mr*scc *nlm

The vehicle stalled without warning. Dealership replaced crank position sensor.

While traveling about 60mph on the highway without prior warning. The vehicle shut down and there was a ticking noise coming from underneath the vehicle. The dealership is aware of the problem. Ts

The dipstick broke off in the tube on my 2001 nissan sentra.the metal stick and plastic top to the stick are about 3 inches in the tube and are unretreivable by myself.the dealership wants to charge $250 to get the stick out and replace it.

1&2) driving down the highway at 65 mph.the car suddenly starts to shudder and becomes hard to control.slowed down to 35 mph, still shuddering but not as much.stopped at a light, the car dies in the middle of the road.other cars veer around me.tried to start the car again immediately.doesn't start.wait 5 minutes in the middle of the road (it was raining and hailing at the time) and try to start again.this time it starts but idles very heavily.at this point the check engine soon light comes on.i tried to drive a few more blocks, and the car almost ended up dying in an intersection.at that point i pulled over right after rolling slowly out of the intersection and waited for a tow truck.the car would still start but i didn't trust it to drive it.3) the mechanic tells me that the failure is the mass air flow sensor.the part is only available from a nissan dealership, and costs $488.19 plus a half hour of labor for installation!!!the new part also needs to be synched up with the car's computer because its different than the old part since nissan knows that the old part is no good.seems to me they should have initiated a recall if this is really the case.if you happen to know that any of this is false, i would very much appreciate knowing that.i don't know if this mechanic knows what he is talking about or not since this is the first time that i have used him.thanks.

The oil dipstick handle broke and the pastic above the dipstick is welded to the metal tube.the dipstick cannot be removed.i bought a replacement dipstick online, but the nissan technicians say it costs $200 in service to remove the tube and get the old one out.this is a defective part.

The crank sensor was replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall without warning. The contacts mechanic replaced the ignition coil fuse and the vehicle ran normal for a few days and then began hesitating and exhibiting recurrences of stalling. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the crank position sensor would need to be replaced. The dealer stated there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id numbers: 01v357000 and 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) but the contacts vehicle was not included in either recall. The vehicle eventually became inoperable. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.

Nissan sentra 2001 se.motor stopped on freeway at once, failure was crank sensor. Cost me 500 parts tow and labor, no dealer around or open.new sensor failing now i think, service engine soon light on again.ecm problems , also front rim broke and caused the car to go in ditch, needs body repair now. Bad vibration in steering. Have tried to get this car fixed at dealer no luck also tried nissan consumer aff. They also had no luck getting car in for safety fixes. They don't have parts and never return my calls.

Oil dipstick handle cracks off leaving dipstick stuck in engine. The handle is plastic in a hot area being the engine and has a weak point on it. This is a common problem. See discussion board http://www.broomeman.com/mt/archives/001156.html.

Regarding the broken oil dip stick:1- drain the oil and leave the drain plug out. 2 - use a shop vacuum to suck the lost dip stick out of the engine. 3 - replace oil drain plug, refill with oil, replace new dip stick.

Consumer called complaining about having problems with a recall notice.also stated that the recall notice stated that the engine may stop while driving the vehicle also that the engine light may come on.dealer was contacted and is telling the consumer that the recall has nothing to do with the vehicle having the same problems.manufacture was contacted and told the consumer the same thing that the dealer stated.

I took my car to the dealership to have the sensor replaced due to a recall. Prior to having the recall repairs done my car had no major problems except the service engine soon light would not go off (it has been on since 40k miles). Now my car stalls every time i slow down to stop. If i had an automatic transmission i would have to pull off the road to restart my car. Since i have a clutch i can pop the clutch to restart the car because i am still drifting. The dealership also tried to tell me that the service engine soon light was not on due to the recall but because the catalytic converter was not working properly. The service engine soon light no longer comes on, but my car stalls consistently. I will never buy another nissan. I thought they were reliable cars. But after having to deal with the service department and having a service engine soon light come on soon after the warranty expired i have learned my lesson.

While driving about any mph, the engine will stop working without prior warning, and will leave vehicle without power.dealer was contacted, but vehicle could not be fixed.please provide more information.

The consumer took the vehicle infor a recall for thecheck engine light. Thelight is still on. The manufacture stated that there was no more they could do, without a cost to the consumer.

The engine completely stopped in the middle of the road and wouldn't restart. *ph the problem was related to the engine sensor.the vehicle would lurch forward. *scthe consumer received a recall notice two after the incident regarding an engine sensor.the consumer was also told the vehicle needed a new transmission.

While driving 60mph engine cut off, causing loss of power steering .

While driving at 35 mph, with no warning the vehicle stalled, and it was difficult to control the vehicle.the dealer notified.the vehicle would crank but not start.the dealer found the sensor circuit cam and crank sensorwere bad and replaced them.recall #01v357000 *scc

Car died in intersection, for the second time, due to faulty sensors.many sentras have been recalled for this exact problem, mine is not one of them.nissan will not replace my sensors.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at no particular speed, the vehicle stalled and the "check engine soon" lamp remained illuminated.intermittently, the vehicle restarted without having to remain in the off position for several minutes.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and remains for additional testing.a nhtsa recall, # 01v357000, was performed on the vehicle concerning, the engine and gasoline several years ago; however, the recall did not remedy the problem.the dealership would not offer a second repair without charge under the recall.

Vehicle experienced the same defect with its crank position sensor as stated in recall 01 v 357 000 , but the dealership doesn't know if the this vehicle is included due to vin, andconsumer was never notified.

Received recall notice 01v357000.consumer's "engine" light is illuminated, but the dealer states that the vehicle's problem has nothing to do with the recall and is a warranty issue.therefore, the dealer is refusing to service, free of charge, under recall.

While i was driving down the highway the engine stopped running and the service engine warning light came on. It was very hard to steer while traveling that speed and to get acroos the traffic so i could pull off of the highway. I had to have it towed to pat peck nissan in gulfport, mississippi. They fixed the car and said that it was the crank position sensor. I asked if there was a recall on this and they said no. After i got home i looked on your website and found that there is a recall on this for the 2001 nissan sentra manufactured on january 2000 through may 2001. The manufactured date on my car is april of 2001. I called nissan and they said that my car did not qualify for the recall. I do not understand if my car is in the manufactured date why it does not qualify. This could have caused a serious accident, not only me but the other drivers around me. Please take a look at this and see if the recall was overlooked before someone is serious injured. Thanks for your time. Kevin carpenter dt

My 2001 nissan sentra se 2.0 litre is in the habit of "dying" while traveling. If there were no shoulder to pull onto and restart the car a serious rear end collision would occur. Nissan wants me to pay for repairs and will reimburse me if the 2.0 liter engine receives a recall like the 1.8 and 2.5 liter engines did for the same scenario. What gives?

After running normally, my car suddenly quit starting, and left me stranded with my child across town.i towed it to a firestone service station for repair only to find out the failure was a cam shaft sensor.the repair station then found out for me that my car had 3 open recalls which i was never notified of.i have now paid for another tow to get my car to a dealership to have these "covered" repairs completed.now, nissan refuses to pay for any of my tows or the bill i had to pay firestone for "diagnostic services".

Car died in intersection due to faulty sensor.many sentras have been recalled for this exact problem, mine is not one of them.nissan will not replace my sensors.

Consumer requesting refund for crank position sensor repair.*mr the consumer was toldher vehicle was not included in the recall.

While the vehicle was parked with the engine running it stalled without warning.the consumer attempted to restart the vehicle several time, but theengine would not restart.the dealer was notified and stated that the crank position sensor needed to be replaced underrecall 01v357000.the consumer's vehicle was not included in the recall.the consumer stated that his vehicle was manufactured7 days after the recall ended.*nlm

2001 nissan sentra. Consumer is requesting reimbursement for repairs. Consumer states that the vehicle has experienced stalling while driving and stopping. Recall for the crank and cam sensors. Dealer denied that the vehicle was included in the recall.nissan informed the lawyer the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall. Recall# 01v357000 (lawyer wrote in on behalf of client).

Consumer states while driving, vehicle was not getting enough engine power.consumer is unable to drive vehicle as a result of concern for potential accident or crash. *jg

When i reported that the chirping/squeaking sound had returned (around the engine belts) to the service dept. At sheehy nissan in annapolis, the service person (mary) said that, if we can't recreate the sound the mechanic can't fix it.i proceeded to tell her to look at her data base for dec 2001, and she would see that it has been only a month and the sound is back, but intermitent, and the service manager-zeek knew what it was after they had changed out the (2) defective senor recall.she got impatient and repeated the same again to me, about recreating the sound.not being very educated or patient with customers, but rude, only served to upset me further about this vehicle and the complacent attitude i was up against.i thought, iwould hate to think what would happen to me if one of those belts gave out.its my life, not mary' .i also told her when the belts make that sound, the engine hestitates.this made no difference to this "service expert."

When a turn was made, the front passenger side wheel impactedthe curb. Which resulted in the pulley bolt breaking.

Oil filter removal results in oil draining onto the exhaust system. Lots of air pollution, smoke and smell upon start up.dealers have no remedy except to suggest use of lots of rags.nissan unresponsive.according to dealers, this is the only model so affected.

While driving checkengine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer drove the vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic determinedthat ecm modular needed to be replaced.

In less than a year the car has had the service engine soon light go off 7 times. They have replaced 3 sensors (1 at my expense for ~$300), then the computer on the car that totally died.after that it was the exahust system and they replaced the catalytic converter and othe part.now for the seventh time in less than a year the service engine soon light went off again and this time it is the o2 sensor (obd ii code p0160).this sensors are supposed to last up to 100000 miles and the dealer is asking me to pay another $300 to have it replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated the check engine warning light would sporadically illuminate on the dashboard.

*sc

On december 28, 2003,my2001 nissan sentracaught on fire while driving through reno nevada. Another car brought to our attention that our car was on fire. When my daughter pulled over and opened the hood, she noticed a small fire in the rear of the engine. Shemanaged to put the fire out with water. Upon inspection at the nissan dealership in nevada, they noted some object was caught between the catalytic converter and the car frame. The fire meltedone cv boot.

Electronic sensor failure, again.this is the 5th sensor to fail as well as the computer-bad electronics.

Vehicle experienced the same defect with its crank position sensor as stated in recall 01 v 357 000 .dealership doesn't know if this vehicle is included due to vin ,and the consumer was never notified.

Top of dipstick broke off, leaving metal shaft unretrievable in tube.

I changed my oil on my 2001 nissan sentra and when i removed the oil dipstick, the plastic handle broke off leavinga piece of the plastic handle and the dipstick lodged inside of the metal tube.i have searched other sites and have found that many other motorists have had the same problem.it costs a lot of money for a repair shop to remove the dipstick.i believe that there is a defect in using a plastic handle on an oil dipstick.

My 2002 nissan sentra gxe oil dip stick broke when i was pulling it out to check my oil level. I did a search online and a lot of people have the same problem

I took my car to have the oil changed and in the process the oil dipstick handle broke.when i notified nissan, i was informed by a service technician that this is a common occurrence with nissans.we tried to retrieve the oil dipstick but to no avail.so i called nissan and spoke with a service technician and he informed me, the oil pan would have to be dropped and"only" a nissan service technician could perform the job.the nissan service technician informed me thatit would cost $200.00 to repair.the service technician also informed me during our conservation, t they were dropping the oil pan on several nissan's with the same problem , a broken oil dipstick. I think it is unfair for the consumer to pay $200.00 to have an oil dipstick removed when the material or part is substandard initially.basically what nissan is saying is, when i get an oil change there is a "great" possibility the oil dipstick will break.

Oem 6-disc in dash cd changer shows err2, and does not play cds.i was told by the dealer on 4-9-07 that it would cost approximately $79 to diagnose the problem.i havedone a little research, and discovered that this seemedto be a very wide spread problem with the nissan in dash cd changer.also, that nissan seemedto be ignoring or denying the problem.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle stalled without warning. Transmission problem w/ 2001 nissan sentra gxe, nissan refuses to fix the problem. They could not find the problem when the vehicle was brought to them before my warranty was up. Now my warranty is up and they found the problem after six trips to nissan with the same problem.i need a knew transmission and they refuse to pay for it. What can i do?

I have had numerous problems with my 2001 nissan sentra.i have posted my prior complaints on this site. Most recently i attempted to back out of a parking spot. A simple enough task one would think. Not with this lemon. The car started, the engine was running, the shift moved in the r position, however the car was not budging. Turns out the transmission had went on my 2001 car.unacceptable in my opinion. Just to update everyone, this is in addition to the broken ignition wire, inoperative horn and broken fuel pump that i have already experienced with this lemon. Buyer beware!

Consumer complained about a transmission gear problem.

Left rear seat belt tensioner does not work. The seat belt will not release.

The left-rear seat belt has malfunctioned in the "tight" position and is not usable. It will not release from the tension control device.

Child was able to release the seatbelt and got wrapped around the seatbelt so tight that the consumer had to cut the child out.

Head rest on back of driver's side seat will not stay down, making it uncomfortablewhile driving.also, unsafe in a rear end collision,no support for back. Dealer fixed it 6 times, but problem still occurs.

While driving 35 mph consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Then, vehicle stalled while in motion and hit the vehicle in front. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. Driver and passenger sustained minor injuries.

When driving 35-40- mph and applying brakes abruptly, brakes will lock up and vehicle slides. This happens every time at that speed/ wet or dry road conditions. Vehicle taken to dealer once, cannot remedy.

When applying thebrakes thepedal does not go tofloor. However, the system appears to lock up, causing extended stopping distance. Cause unknown.consumer states this is a very poor engineering design of the braking system that causes the brakes to lock up when they are applied beyond a very slow driving condition.

While driving would step onbrakes pedal to reduce speed or to stop vehicle, but brakes will not function on time, causing extended stopping distance.please provide more information.

When traveling at 25-35 mphbrakes locked when trying to make a sudden stop. Contacted dealer, and the dealerwas not willing to do anything.

While driving at a low speed, applied brakes and without warning brakes failed, especially in rainy weather. Dealer has been notified; however, has not been able to remedy the problem.consumer states that this has almost caused a crash.

Brakes locked at relatively low speed, resulting in an unneccesary crash due to vehicle skiding.the distance should have been pleanty to effectively stop the vehicle.

Headrest will not stay in down position, it keeps rising up, blocking consumer's viewoncoming traffic.consumer feels this is very dangerous. Please provide any further information.

On two occasions when braking on wet road condition vehicle would slide before stopping. Dealer and manufacturer were not notified. Consumer is experiencing this condition on dry pavement at low speeds as well.

Car continues to accelerate after foot is removed from the pedal. Occurred several times, but was easily managed by tapping the brake. Brought in for repair and carbon build-up was found on the throttle and cleaned up. Most recent occurrence was more dramatic. I was accelerating quickly (4000+ rpm) from a stop at a red light. Car continued to accelerate at 4000+ rpm. Braking hard did not stop the car, nor did it stop the continued acceleration. Had to put car in neutral and pull over. Engine continued to race at 4000+ rpm, until ignition was turned off. Brought to nissan service. They checked throttle plate and cable but found no problem, and condition could not be duplicated. Problem has not occurred in the week since, but it has always been intermittent and unpredictable. Should the original problem have been fixed with out charge? what can i do if it happens again? this is a serious safety issue to me, and could have ended badly if one of my kids had been driving instead of me.

I reported to service manager-zeek, sheehy nissan annapolis, that the car has progressively gotten worse upon braking, to the point of jerking to a stop, and even sliding at low speeds below 40mph.no problem, they replaced front brake shoes, and turned rotors.i noticed lately that when i brake, i hear this dry sound coming from the right front wheel.i intend to report it along with the engine belt squeaking sounds this weekend.

Brakes lock up at 20-35 mph under normal breaking conditions causing loss of control. Constant whine from front left side. Front left rotor turned once due to pulsating pedal. Pulsating has returned along with "shimmy" in steering at various speeds. Front tires seem to be wearing at accelerated rate.appt # 2 set with dealer.

While driving about 30 mph and when turningbrake caliper locked up, and consumer hitcurve and drove over it. Consumerwas comparing the situation with the recall 01 v 174 000.had taken vehicle to dealer, butproblem still there.please provide more information.ak

Brakes continued to lock up when applying the brakes at speeds between 20-30 mph. Dealership found rotors were warped and turned them, reducing failure rate. As a result tires have flat spots and are damaged. Dealership/nissan refuses to replace.

I have had a problem when appling the brakes, with the car going into a slide /skid and almost hitting another car, going at a slow rate. This happened more than once.i was told on a couple of occ. That it would cost me to have them look at the brakes, even though the car was under warrenty. They said they drove it and could not find anything wrong with it. The last time i took it in, they found the car to be unsafe to drive and said it related to the calibers on the brakes. While driving 60mph engine cut off, causing loss of power steering .

Your database would not allow me to enter all of my visits to the nissan service department for the same problems over and over.the dealership that sold me the car tried to get me to pay for the inherent problems, by saying they are not covered by warranty.so i took my car to another dealership. They readily replaced the right wheel bearing. They said it was covered under the warranty. I tookall my complaints to the bbb in baltimore, maryland.arbitration took place with nissan. The representativesaid, " all my complaints were common for the nissan sentra.you get what you pay for!" i have been noticing that my complaintsare being called "recalls" one by one.this is a totally unsafe car on the road.it is also my 3rd nissan sentra over the years.their product has gone down hill.

Rear strut noise/vibration continues after several service attempts.first service in february 2001 dealer replaced right rear strut.noise/vibration continues. In,2003 noise get louder going over bumps and rough road.dealer replaced rear strut mount 2/6/2003. This was ineffective as noise/vibration continues. Unsure of vehicle safety at this point.

On 12/4/09 my car died leaving me stranded. I had it towed to brads autoclose to my house for $130. They stated the diagnostic states"crank shaft position sensor" code. The part was put in the vehicle but did not solve the problem, brad's felt part was defective. No other crank sensor was available in city. I had to wait for it to be shipped on tuesday from the factory.it arrived& was put in and same thing happen. It did not fix the problem. Brad's told me that with the crank sensor that was already in the carit starts up but dies, when the new sensors is added it won't start at all. Brad's researched & found this is a recall on my vehicle. Brad's called nissan service. A person stated that cam sensor & crank sensor are interchangeable. According to brad's research all data shows they are different. Brad's mention the recall. The service person denied a recall on this vehicle. Brad's stated he had the recall in his hand with the recall number showing it matches my vin. Brad's contacted me and i called the nissan service dept. That said all i could do is tow it to them at my expense. My dad reminded that i had a similarincident back in march 2008. On my paperwork. It states the same exact symptoms. It states nissan replaced the crank shaft sensor and it did not fix the problem then they replaced the ecm. Both of these items are discussed on the invoice as a recall item. In that incident's, it was a saturday and no service places were open. I found one & towed it there. When he put it on the diagnostic it stated "crank shaft sensor." he told meit would be cheaper to have nissan fix it. I paid $71.00 to have it towed from my house to that shop owner & then another $88 to tow it to nissan. The new incident is obviously related to the previous. Nissan headquarters stated they would not pay for any tows & they would not absorb charges due tobeing out of warranty. Nissan's solution is ineffective, & is not part of a warranty. A recall should not cost me anything.

When i checked the oil level for my 2001 nissan sentra gxe, i saw the oil dipstick broken. I checked the internet to see if it is a common problem, yes it is. A lot of nissan owners complain about the same problem which may be caused by cheap plastic top of the dipstick that fails under high engine temperature. If oil dipsticks are defective by the manufacturer, nissan sentra's should be recalled for fix-up.

One year ago i purchased a used car from wendle @ the y.i felt as though i was getting a good deal on my 2001 nissan sentra, which had acceptably low mileage.i was in the process of getting my car refinanced when the finance company called and told me they could not help me with my loan.they explained that it was obvious my nissan's odometer had been rolled back sometime between 11/3/03 and 2/23/04.the finance company was kind enough to fax the the carfax report showing the suspected odometer rollback.with each oil change my car has had, the mileage has been documented with carfax. You can see the steady progression up to 50,693 miles on 11/3/03, yet when i bought the car on 2/7/04, the car only registered 31,675 miles.i contacted shane, the gm at wendle, on friday 2/4; he immediately skirted around the issue trying to assure me that it must have been mistyped in the carfax report.i explained to him that you could see the mileage progression and it was obviously not a mistype. I am now left with a car that i no longer am happy with due to thefact that it has 20,000 more miles than i though and i cannot get itrefinanced.wendle is not responding in a timely manner and i wouldlike some resolution.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan sentra. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The manufacturer and dealer were informed of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000.

Gas pedal sticks at idle that have to press hard to get moving g again and the vehicle surges forward once the pedal is unstuck. Happens when stopped at stop lights waiting for green signal or stop signs.

2001 nissan sentra se suddenly accelerated while applying the brakes. ***no answer required***. *mr

During normal operation ofvehicle accelerator suddenly went tofloor and vehicle accelerated on its own. Consumer applied full pressure tobrakes, andput vehicle in neutral. Dealer has been in possession ofvehicle since this incident.please provide any additional information/attachments.

While driving at 45 mph vehicle suddenly accelerated to 70 mph.brake pedal was depressed to reduce speed, but failed to do so.vehicle stopped when it impacted the highway's medium. The cause of the sudden acceleration was undetermined.

While pulling into a parking space vehicle started to rev up, and then started to accelerate, going over the crub. The vehicle crashed after going over the crub.

While driving 40 mphaccelerator pedal stuck. Consumer was able to decelerate the vehicle with braking.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

When applying gas to the vehicle accelerator pedal sticks.dealer states that carbonbuilt up on the throttle cable.

I have had my 2001 nissan sentra alittle over 3 years and we have had many recalls and the last one on april 13, 2004 the dealer left a piece of foam insulation and my air conditioner ( does not work) and heater works now since removed the insulation away from the blower motor.i called the dealer and they were nasty with me when i brought up that this should of been covered under bulletin # ntb00091 and ntb00091b.if there was a faulty airconditioning system when the car first came out then someone should of been told.i am very upset that this was not told to me when i bought the car.

Consumer received a recall notice. The sensor light came on, and the motor stalled. This vehicle was having an assortment of electrical defects, includingpower windows.

Excessive wind noise occurs in city and highway driving. Primary suspect is windshield molding. When contacted, dealer refused to perform warranty repairs on this. According to salesman "that's what you get for the amount of money you paid, altima is quiter than sentra"according to service "the (excessive) windnoise is normal, it's as designed, within specifications, and inherited in both 2000-2001 sentras. We will not replace it unless there's atsb/recall from nissan". It is a known problem as other 2000-2001 sentra owners have also experienced the same problem, but they were lucky enough to purchase their sentras from dealers willing to do the repairs (replacing the windshield molding, etc.) the same problem has also been found in altimas.

They say the repeated purchase of tires are also not connected to the wheel replacement recall for which the wheels were not upon their inspection.
