Braking system failed to fully function. When i pressed the brake pedal to slow down, the vehicle slowed. However, as i pressed the brake pedal harder to come to a full stop, the vehicle did not respond. A two vehicle car crash resulted, and the sentra is a total loss. The air bags did not deploy. The brakes were last serviced on 10-23-06. I do not trust the dealership, since i have had previous problems. I had the same supspension problems with the vehicle - tires wearing prematurely on the inside. In one instance, nissan of hickory told me there were no problems with my vehicle. After two hours, the service manager walked me into the garage, where he tried to prove the problem was my tires. I pointed to a leaking shock on my vehicle, and he was suprised and upset that i noticed it. He then told me they did not take the tires off my vehicle in the two hours i was waiting. I have no confidence in nissan of hickory to examine my vehicle because of that incident.

While driving at 35-40 mph driver lost control of vehicle, hit a stone wall and then rolled over on its top, dual airbags did not deploy, causing head injuries.there was no indictation of airbags being defective.

Accident did not involve another car.the car hit a barrier, anf air bags failed to deploy.

While traveling about 30 mph on wet roaddriver slid into a truck, and neither airbag deployed.

While traveling onfreeway at 50 mph consumer wasexiting ramp when brakes stoppedworking, consumer had to swerve and hit a brick building at 30 to 40 mph. Brakes finally did kick in,and it did slowvehicle down a little before hitting a brick wall.upon impact, airbags didn't deploy, consumer states that it felt as if the brakes caused the vehicle to accelerate.

There is a recall on 2002, 2005-2006 nissan sentras & altimas with the sensor. The car can shut down without warning and engine stall. My car is a 1999 nissan sentra with the same problem and they won't fix it because of the wrong year. Regardless of the year it should be fixed or i should receive some kind of compensation. Luckily when i was driving and my car shut down i wasn't hit from the back. I am looking to file a law suit over this matter because i spent my money on this car buying it brand new and this organization just shoved me off like my problem doesn't matter. I use my car and now i am without a car and catching the bus. It's not fair! it's their car!

Distributor cap failed. While driving at 35 mphvehicle stalled. Dealershipreplaced the distributor, wires, and plugs. However, problem recurred.

I had just entered a 3-lane highway and was driving25-30 mph in the rain at night, when the engine suddenly just stopped! i had no lights, no brakes, no horn, no steering. By some small miracle, the emergency brake stopped the car,and i had a cell phone. The police got there before anyone hit me. Sheehy nissan service dept. Said that this is a common occurance with sentras, and several years were recalled for defective components for the same kind of problems, but 1999 was not included. Therefore, the repairs as estimated would cost me roughly one grand. Forgot to mention that my son and baby girl were with me when the car failed on the highway. Aren't the dealers required to report this sort of thing to the manufacturer?

The contact owns a 1999 nissan sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop, who was not able to diagnose the failure. The contact was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 03v477000 (electrical system), 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling), and 01v357000 (engine and engine cooling). The contact continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Vehicle ignition key failed. *et

Vehicle completely lost power on highway and failed to restart.mechanic indicated failure with distributor.noted that he felt it was a common problem with late model nissans.mr

Since soon after the purchase of the vehicle if you start the vehicle and then move it a short distance and turn it off, you can not restart it, you have to hold down the gas pedal and crank it until it starts, or wait till later to start it.sister had same model and year nissan exact same problem.dealer said there is nothing they can do, but it is a common problem.now at 98k miles you turn off the car and the fan continues to run must disconnect the battery to stop it. Many electrical problems.

Vehicle ignition key failed. *et

Over half of the ignition key broke off and remains in the ignition.nlm

Distributor has failed at 108,000 miles and is reoccurring as a typical problem on 1.6 liter engine.

While driveing 25 mph engine stalled, and rearended another vehicle. Amount of damage unknown.

Vehicle will not start when tempratures go from cold to warm without depressing gas pedal all the way to the floor and holding there while cranking engine over.

Air conditioner sends water into the rugs inside the car.once, i intended to manipulate one of the air controls and ever since i have had this problem.i've been taking the car to the nissan service center to have this problem solved but i am told that the water pipe was drained. I have taken the car on the following dates: 5-5-01/ 1-5-02/ 5/31/02 and 5-2-03 the problem continues and is getting worse.

Car stopped without warning on highway while being driven in traffic.

Timing chain and related parts wore out long before they should have.

The teeth on one of the timing chain sprockets wore down causing bent valves due to timing failure.the head will have to be removed to replace damaged parts or a new/rebuilt engine will have to be installed.

While driving 60-65 mph vehicle lost power/ stalled. Consumer had to coast to the side of the road to have the vehicle towed.

I have a '97 & '99 nissan sentra gxe & both have suffered the same ac problem - the auxiliary fan ( air con cooling fan) stopped working for both when they had relatively low miles on them - 30000 - 45000 miles for the '97 & 32000 miles for the '99. On the '97 because we never got to know from regular servicing that the fan wasn't working, the ac compressor stopped working & we were left with changing the whole air con system for over $900. On the '99 the fan has just been diagnosed - the air con compressor still seems fine. These problems were diagnosed by the dealer & we were told that "like the '97, the '99 will need a new ac compressor if we don't quickly replace the fan."

Traveling on freeway at approx.20-25 mph. In stop and go traffic, approx.4pm.the car in front of me stopped suddenly, i attempted to brake hard, but the brakes did not respond. I then attempted to steer to the side but i could only go so far. I had the feeling that i lost power.i could not get out of the car after impact because the power locks did not work.i was told that the head lamp was embedded into the battery.

The plastic headlights on my 1999 nissan are opaque. The light output is diminished at least 40%. The dealer wants $200 for replacement of plastic headlights.i then noticed that many cars that are over 5 years old have the same problem, diminished lighting due to poor plastic headlights.i hope you can get nissan and all other makes involved to replace the plastic headlights for free.

The contact owns a 1999 nissan sentra. The contact stated an excessive amount of fuel would overflow from the fuel tank filler neck whenever refueling. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where a diagnostic test was performed and they detected the fuel tank filler neck was completely covered with rust. The manufacturer and dealer stated the part was no longer in production as a result to the vehicle not being repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

The fuel filler tank/hose on my father's 1999 nissan sentra must be replaced. However, the part is not available form nissan; it is no longer made and there is no 'after market" item. He tried a 2000 part; it could not be made to fit. We have contacted nissan directly, have talked to dealers, etc. Without this needed repair, the car is basically of no value. It cannot be sold, because it would not pass inspection. Complete frustration. The car itself is great, less than 60,000 miles, no rust, excellent m[g, etc. But what can we do now/ who to complain to/nissans response seems to be "tough luck"and there is no recourse.

Fuel filler metal flap became loose and fell into the fuel filler tube, causing an obstruction that prevents gasoline from flowing freely into the fuel tank when pumping.as a result gasoline overflows and spills from the fuel filler tube, potentially resulting in fire or personal

Car is vibrating and shaking in the front end, replaced set of tires then the new tires were being damaged again by the vibration. Nissan refused to check drive axles which seem to be the source of the vibration. The part looks in good condition, was inspected by a mechanic and he stated that is the drive axle.

I was driving at night, when i noticed that my clutch had a little more "play" in the pedal than normal.i thought this was my imagination until within another 15 minutes of driving i noticed that the gears started shifting harder than normal as well.within another few minutes, the clutch pedal was almost all the way in, and the clutch was not releasing causing me not to be able to shift at all.i was able to pull off to the side of the road, and get the car into second gear and drive the remainder of the way home without incident.once home with the car, i inspected the clutch pedal and the clutch cable under the hood and noticed that the piece the clutch cable attaches to (the withdrawal lever) was cracked and almost completely broken in half.the car was then towed to my mechanic who informed me that after adjusting the clutch system and test driving it, he had the same problem i observed, and almost couldn't get the car back to his shop from the test drive.he informed me that the entire clutch assembly would need to be replaced as it had obviously failed, as well as the defective withdrawal lever.he found no obvious reason for the failure of the clutch and lever, other than manufacturer defect.he did not feel that the failure was the result of normal wear and tear or abuse.

The consumer stated the transmission slipping from 1st to 4th gear. Dealer notified. Vehicle failed due to a worn our differential in the transmission. Vehicle was repaired but failed again. This failure was the result of an installed reconditionedtorque converter. Thus, the differential was ignored. The differential broke both axles and the torque converter. Which ultimately resulted in transmission failure.*ph

The clutch and foot rest was designed too close together, consumer attempted to down shift and inadvertently hit the foot rest which resulted in an accident.scc

While driving 20-25 mph another vehicle hitleft front, airbag deployed, but driver seatbelt buckle released. Consumer suffered neck injuries, vehicle was totalled.

The fron seats when moved all the way back, will not move forward.the dealer said take it apart and look for a coin jammed in there.there are no coins on the track.the dealer replaced the driver side track and the new one even jams.the only way to move the seat forward is to take the two forward bolts holding the seat to the chassy and shaking the seat, then for some reason the seat will move forward.

Consumer state that while driving and no warning the master brake cylinder is linking fluid cause extended stopping distance. Dealer notified ts

The stopping distance for this sub-compact at 30 mph is exorbitant.my accident was the result of running out of braking space on a damp road. Everyone with abs equipped vehicles were able to swerve out of the road to avoid accident however my standard brakes couldn't compete with their manueverability, especially when the brakes work like i have 50k miles w/o servicing.

While driving 55 mph steering wheel vibrated.

Identical wear on both front tires, inside worn to cord - while at dealership met another customer with exact same problem (2nd time for them)- dealership says it is not a manufacturers defect (car or tires)

Consumer states steering wheel shakes at certain speeds and front end seems floaty, consumer was advised by technician everything was fine, consumer then went back to dealership to check the balancing of the tires, noting that the steering wheel is still shaking at certain speeds, excessive wear was then noticed of the front tires, the service technician stated that this was a tire failure and consumer should go to a dunlop outlet for a remedy, a local tire shop stated this was not the fault of the tires themselves, but rather the result of a balance/alignment problem, consumer purchased another set of dunlop tires to replace the excessively-worn front tires, consumer states despite the maintenance and replacement of tires and tire rotation, the suspension still feels floaty.

Alignment problem caused tires to wear on inside prematurely.happened in 2/2001 and 8/2001.2/2001 was unexpected tire failure, 8/2001 caught at 45k maintenance.dealer unhelpful.

Consumer states that while driving vehicle the drivers side tire blew out without warning. Dealer notified.

The original tires shreaded on the inside,& the front end had to be realligned. I noted that their have been 3 other complaints of same type reported to you. This seems to be a problem that other are having. Unlike other cars i have owned this car gave no indication that the allignment was failing, untill the tire was completely shreaded on the inside and was going flat. Is nissan doing anything to correct this problem?

I strongly believe the odometer was tampered with on this vehicle. When i purchased it with 16865 miles-the day after i realized displayed in the window was an oil sticker which read the next scheduled oil change to be at 40731 miles. Also an agency has evidence of the car being inventored at an auto auction with more miles on it than when i purchased it with. Please help me in the investigation into this matter. I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks!*ph**dimsii iovq entry poster after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**769758

The engine revolution goes from 1000 to 8000 suddenly and so the speed translated 0 to 120 mph, consumer was behind a new york city bus and was able to stop the vehicle by slamming on the brake and turning of the engine, still the vehicle hit the bus gently, consumer was advised by dealership that they could find the problem, incident has happened 3 times 12-22-00, 12-28-00 and 3-9-01.

Consumer states that while driving in a heavy rain storm, windsheild wiper stop working. Resulting in poor visibility.almost causing an accident. Mr

Windshield wipers recall issued, butno parts were available.

On my 1999 nissan sentra 1.6l,it appears that i am having the same problems with the wiper linkage assembly as on the 1996's,97's,and 98's. There are no recalls for the 1999's! can i get this fixed for free or what? it is a real pain because i can't see out the drivers side window during rain or snow storms. I shouldn't have to pay for a legitimate recall as on other years.
