Passenger in 1999 nissan quest van. At 40mph, a car cut us off resulting in head on collision. Airbags on both driver and passenger side did not deploy.

My wife was driving approximately 40 mphin a 45 mph zone. A vehicle in front of her had to make a sudden stop due to another motorist in front of it was turning left and she applied the brakes and could not stop in time and she rear ended the driver in front of her. Neither air bag deployed in the 1999 nissan quest. We have contacted our insurance company (american family) and the adjuster sadi that the air bags shouldn't have deployed due the crash of the vehicle and the way it hit. My wife sustained injuries of her back and neck in this crash and we believe the air bags should have deployed. We contacted nissan and they also said the bags should not have deployed due to not enough force of some ball bearing used to activate the air bags. They (nissan) sent us a vhs tape on air bags, but declined to send someone out to investigate the vehicle. We still have the vehicle in our driveway and would be grateful of any and all help your agency could provide.*la

While drivinga piece of ice got caught up under the vehicle and causeddriver's sideand passenger's side airbags to deploy. Vehicle rolled to a stop after airbag deployment. Dealer has vehicle currently.

Dt: the contact owns a 1999 nissan quest. The contact states that on saturday10, 2005 while driving his vehiclecaught on fire. It lookedas if it started from the coolant fan. The damage$500-1000. The contact's wife smelled smoke anddrove to the nearest parking lot and it caught on fire. The vehicle was not driving unusual before this happened. The cooling system did not have a leak, but the fan melted because that was where the fire started. He was unsure of why the fan caught on fire, but the contactbelievedit was an electrical fire. He contacted the police and the fire departments. The dealership was not contacted because the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic. He contacted the insurance company, and because he only had liability nothing was covered.

Consumer request for recall information on nissan quest 1999.the consumer is experiencing problems with the steering and electrical system such as the widows, and the front drivers seat.the clock and radio lights come on and go off most of the time.

My 1999 nissan quest, continues to have wiring problems that have caused the head lights and tail lights to quit operating.each head light wiring harness has been replaced at least once and now the left head light and left brake light do not work.this has also been observed on multiple nissan quest and mercury villagers on the road.i called nissan and was told this was not a recalled item but my dealer has been repairing free of charge.

This vehicle has numerous problems beginning with the brakes having to be changed multiple times; one occasion while driving on the expressway my passenger sliding door opened up resulting in me having to pull to the side of the road and close the door.when i first purchased the vehicle i would get in and start the car, the windshield wipers would go, the horn would blow and and the doors would lock; there was a terrible banging sound coming from what appeared to be the rear of the vehicle, but after 3 stops in the shop was identified as a bolt being loose in the stearing column, my gas pedal sticks and will all of a sudden release causing the vehicle to lunge forward; the rear bulbs all blew out in the rear of the van and melted the encasing surrounding the bulbs; during a rain storm the windows where in the down position and would not go up; the vehicle had to go into the dealer for them to pull them up; when you attempt to lock the doors the locks make a sound as if they are attempting to lock or unlock but do not, it takes several attempts to unlock the door whether inside or outside of the vehicle...ultimately this vehicle has been a sincere disappointment that needs to be returned to the dealer, however my dealer has gone out of business and the new dealer will not take the vehicle back because it is not their responsibility.i have contacted nissan about the vehicle but nissan's response is to return the vehicle to the dealer for service.nissan is not paying for a loaner car and i can't continue to take time from work to babysit a vehicle more than my children...this will be the last nissan i own.i almost don't want to get rid of it because i don't want another unsuspected individual to purchase this nightmare on wheels

Consumer has a problem in finding the horn because of its pressure point being the size of a dollar billlocated in the bottom center of the steering wheel.in any case, it is muchtoo small an area to find in an emergency.

Parked my quest at work, after work tried to start my van. Alarm activated without even being set in the first place. Can not turn the alarm off and it will not let me start my van. Now i am walking around.

The contact owns a 1999 nissan quest. While driving approximately 15 mph, the engine shut off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, it shut off again and was towed to a mechanic. Twenty minutes after the engine shut off the check engine light illuminated. Four mechanics have diagnosed the failure and stated that the distributor cap was blown and caused by the ignition. The vehicle was purchased with a black box on the right side under the steering wheel. The black box allowed the dealer to shut the engine off if the payments were not made. A mechanic also stated that the black box should be checked and could also have caused the failure. The dealers mechanic quoted her $1,000 to replace the distributor cap and ordered the part for a higher price than quoted without her approval. The failure and current mileages were 155,000.

Low quality materials causing a fire hazard that were noticed by inspecting equipment. The passenger headlight malfunctioned and the electrical system went out and came back on including all dash electrical equipment while the van was in motion. The right headlight was not operating every time it was needed. I purchased the van and i noticed the headlight was coming on and going off. I inspected the headlight assembly and noticed that the connector that snaps the harness to the bulb had melted wires. The connector has three wires (low beam positive, high beam positive, and ground.) the connector is made of molded plastic and the wires travel through the connector and clip on the bulb assembly. The van is 3 years old and the center ground wire has melted the connectors so bad that is has come into contact with the other positive leads casing a system short and a fire hazard. I inspected the other headlight wiring harness and found the center ground to be badly melted as well.the vehicle is a 1999 nissan quest and it only has 32,000 miles. The load on the harness and wires is too much. The headlights were factory installed and were never replaced so this is a problem form the design. I have removed the defective connector and replaced it with a better designed one from another vehicle manufacturer. The defective connector is available for inspection. *nolm

Was driving vehicle when electrical fuse box overheated & melted the box.dashboard lights would flash on/off. Was not able to shift vehicle properly. Took to dealer & had electrical system & shifting apparatus replaced. Problem has not reappeared.

Without any warning, the van would fail to accelerate.this caused the consumer to pull off the road. The owner has made contact with the dealer. Please provide any further details.*ph

Nissan quest 1999. Gas pedal is blocking and requires revere strength to be pushed. This happens several times during the day. Once the pedal is pushed hard the vehicle suddenly thrusts, causing possible damage to the engine and transmission. This also causes the vehicle to suddenly gain much speed and requires extra control bythe driver. I am seeing many complaints on this website regarding the same issue (referd to as 'gas pedal sticking').

1996 nissan quest developed problems with the engine.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer stated the noise in the engine started 1 year ago. The consumer has received several different answers as to what the problem may be, however the problem still has not been resolved.

1999 nissan quest se - i changed the spark plugs after hearing a tapping/clacking coming from the engine & having the van hesitate at times. The oem platinum plugs are rated for 100k miles & the van has 82k miles. I had difficulty removing one of the plugs. After the plug jammed i looked in the "tube" where you insert the plug looking for anything blocking the plug extraction. After i removed the plug the threads showed no signs of stripping. I looked in the "tube" again & still could not see anything. The area of the plug below the "nut part" & above the threads looked mangled. After inserting the new plugs i tested the engine & heard a much louder noise. I towed it to the dealership to make any repairs under my extended service plan (esp). The service writer called & i approved a $200 tear down fee that would apply to any repairs needed or covered under the esp. Later they told me they would not do the repairs under the esp as a foreign object damaged the piston/cylinder. They could not identify the object but said that since nissan did not make the repairs the esp would not cover it. I spent 3 days fighting with nissan's consumer relations dept & an executive asst. This lady said nissan would not cover the repair. The general manager at the dealership agreed that had his tech changed the plugs he would have just as likely as not had the same problems with the same results. Now since i exercised my rights & appealed to the corporate offices of nissan the dealership will not complete any repairs. They want me to tow my vehicle elsewhere at my expense & still pay them the $200 tear down fee that was to be applied towards the repair. Also my disassembled engine lies on the garage floor at the dealership. I have more info & welcome any contact or suggestions at [email protected]. There is more information at www.notagz.com/nissan including call logs with both nissan & the dealership. There are also pictures of the disassembled engine & the damage at www.notagz.com/engine. *nlm

Nissan quest 1999 started having severe engine problems as 50,000 miles and just 5 years of use. The vehicle is similar to ford windstar and mercury villages and was manufactured in one of their plants. Ford has issued many recalls to address these issues. Nissan is has denied any problems with the vehicles.

In may 1999, nissan corp sold me defective nissan quest.every 2-3 years this vehicle develops excessive carbonous deposits in the part of the engine called the throttle-body assembly. These deposits cause the accelerator pedal to require increased effort to push the pedal accelerator down (sticky pedal). Being the only owner of this vehicle, i already had to clean the throttle-body 3 times. This defect was recognized and settled by nissan corp in class action in 2003, please see the copy of the first page of settlement letter enclosed. My dealership, rothrock, in allentown pa cleaned the throttle for the last, 3rd time in december 2003 at no charge, please see the copy of invoice enclosed. The throttle needs to be cleaned again. My latest discussion with nissan rep, erica, 1-800-647-7261 ext 57741, file n 5812745 was on 8/10/07. Nissan refuses to clean at nissan's expense explaining that a diagnosis must be performed first for $70.00 per hour. I consider this nissan?s offer as a deceptive way to avoid the responsibility to fix the nissan's defect at no charge to me.

This is the fourth time in 3 years that the same warning light has come on and at least the second time i've been told i have "spider webs in my cannister". ( i drive my car daily---don't see that happening).the computer codes, this time around, are: p1446 and p0325.diagnosis:"needs vent control valve and cannister"" found spider webs in cannister and might need new one in future."i've no idea what any of this means, but the same warning light with an easy fix (they said they wiped out the webs) indicates that somethins is wrong with the system.

Filled fuel tank & drove approximately 230 miles when engine check light came on. Drove 30 more miles & engine check light went out. Took to dealer & mechanic placed vehicle on diagnostic machine. Codes appeared. Parts were ordered & placed on vehicle. Problem came back. Leak could not be located coming from engine. Nuts & bolts indicated evaoprated vent hose. Service engine soon light keept coming on due to egr solenoid valve failure.

I started having problems with the brakes and the air conditioner around the same time frame give or take a few weeks.the brakes started making a grinding noise when it was about two months old. I took it to the dealer the said they did a complete brake job on it. Since then it has been back to the dealer 5 other times due to brake noises that are still not repaired. My van also vibrates at speedso f 60 miles or faster, also it has had 3 front end alignments in less then six months.then with my air conditioner they say the noise was normal that it was suppose to sound like it was going to fall out in the driveway when i turned it on, and when nissan came out with a fix they would contact me. To this day they have not even looked at the air conditioner other then to check the belts on it. Both my brake and my air conditioner are still making noises.i have two friends that own nissan vans and there vans do not have these problems.

I placed my van in my garage, which is level and smooth.i raised the van with the screw jack as specified on the screw jack. The screw jack has a lower part which is below the screw, and an upper part which is above the screw. When the tire lifted off the ground, the screw jack immediately bent backwards at approximately 20 degrees.as it was dangerous to life and limb, i immediately lowered the jack.once lowered, the jack returned to its original shape as if it were made of spring steel. I videoed the jack in the upright and bent position and in the lowered position.the danger is that if the tire needs changing out on the road, where conditions will not be perfect - as in my garage - that jack will bend back and the van will fall and someone will become very hurt.

When vehicle gets up to speed of 58 to 63 there is a very bad vibration in the front end. Vehicle has been aligned, bearing has been replaced, rims and tires have been changed. Problem is still occurring.. Also the lamp socket, wiper switch, rack bolts, cup holder and hub assembly have all been replaced.

The contact owns a 1999 nissan quest. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the headlights failed. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

Both headlamp sockets have melted several times causing one and sometimes both headlamps to fail.

Both headlamp sockets have melted several times causing one and sometimes both headlamps to fail.

Driver's side headlight goes on and off intermittently. No pattern, just on and off. I replaced w/new bulb...still happens. Will take into dealer asap.

Recall 99v-347 is not adequate, statment concerning the center high mounted stop lamp that is not affected (consumers center high mounted stop lamp is affected) and not covered under recall repair.*mjs

Every 25,000 miles the throttle sticks and yes, we joined the class action.and the latest?the crossover pipe on the exhaust system broke, filling the cabin with exhaust... Engine parts should last longer.

Accelerator cable continuously sticks. This is caused by debris in the fuel injection system.

When gas tank is half full or low a rotten egg smell will occur, making consumer sick. Please provide further information.

Was driving vehicle when electrical fuse box overheated & melted the box.dashboard lights would flash on/off. Was not able to shift vehicle properly. Took to dealer & had electrical system & shifting apparatus replaced. Problem has not reappeared.

The door latch to the back side of the drivers side sliding door came off and now the door will not latch. This happened while car was stopped.

Consumer unlocked the passenger door by depressing the unlock button, when pulling the handle to open the door, the side door locked without any indication, consumer states that this happens all the time.

Driver side sliding door handle broke off when attempting to open this door.the door could no longer be opened from exterior.operated intermittently from inside afterwards.clearly a safety hazard during emergencies as passengers could not exit vehicle via this door any longer.

The contact owns a 1999 nissan quest.while driving 70 mph, the front driver's side brakes locked up.the contact had a difficult time controlling the vehicle, but managed to drive to the dealer.the dealer stated that the brake hose was the cause of the failure and the braking components overheated.the dealer suggested that the rotors, pads, caliper, and hose on both sides of the vehicle be replaced.the repairs were made, but the failure recurred 8,000 miles later.he took the vehicle to a repair shop and they replaced the pads and turned the rotors.the mechanic test drove the vehicle and the driver's side brakes locked up again.the dealer replaced all the components again and recharged the contact over $300.the dealer currently states that the abs actuator needs to be replaced.the failure mileage was 108,000.

I have had to look into alignment probelms again and replace the brakes and the tires again. I also was told by the dealer that this was because of "normal" wearing of the cv joints and that my front axle was shot so i had to replace this too. I have had so much tire, tire valve, brake and front end trouble, it's ridiculous.

Accelerator pedal sticks- this happens after the brake is applied and i try to accelerate, thus causing the van to stall in the intersection and then take off quickly and also occurs if i relaese my foot from the accelerator to slow down gradually, and then reapply it, the pedal again sticks.this started in march and then went away for a month and has been occuring daily - sometimes 4 or 5 times in one commute.this has nearly caused a few fatal accidents when the van stalled in a busy intersection or while i was turning into the driveway and gas pedal stuck causing crosstraffic to screech to a halt.have almost been hit from behind because the van does not accelearte after a red light- have to pump it or hold it down before it releases.i called dealer and he said it was"normal" and part of throttle problem, but this started when the van had only 20000 miles on it

The bench containing the integrated car seats does not recline posing a strangulation hazard for sleeping child.yh

Drivers seat broke and collapsed backward due to a rear collision. Dealer and manufacturer have been notified.

Dealer has no part to repair recall 99v-056 of the lubrication of the easy entry and exit latch system.nlm

Consumer child seat does not always lock into place. The consumer stated a recall had been issued regarding this issue, however she was told by customer service her vehicle identification number was not included, but when she did her own research, her vehicle identification number was apart of the recall.

Accelerator would stick and not allow me to press it down. This would occur as after stopping at a light or intersection.the pedal would not budge, thus causing me to pump it to try to wiggle it to move.when it did catch, it would accelerte abruptly.many times i was in intersection and almost hit front behind or side becuase the van would not move.also, at the 30,000 mile maintenance, i was told that there was less than 10% left on front brakes.this is premature as most cars do not need brake pads changed so quickly.

I purchased the vehicle on june 17, 1999 brand new at torrance nissan.about two weeks later, front brakes started making grinding noise.i was told by both dealer and manufacturer that it was normal since they abandoned abestos from brake pads.i insisted that they changed the pads.they finally agreed and ordered special pads from the factory.noise went away until last month.they replaced the pads once again and it's ok right now.an engineer from the factory finally admitted that there's a defect in the design and most '99 quest have that same problem.driver side mirror vibrates at high speed above 70.again, engineer from factory stated that is a defect and r&d is trying to resolve it.driver side sliding door latch comes open after sliding it back and fourth after four times.it has been back to the dealer many times and since yesterday, it's ok.the main problem is the poor gas mileage.we're putting in 87 octane gas recommended in the manual.we've been getting about 13 miles/gallon in the city and about 18 if we drive both freeway and city.the tank takes about 20 gallons and every 16.5 gallons, we're only getting about 260 miles from the trip reading.nissan consumer affair first told us that new car will give poor reading since all parts haven't been broken into.we should drive it to 5000 miles.the van is at 5750 miles and mileage has not improved at all.i contacted consumer affair and they told me that i should not be using mobil and arco gas and to get that kind of mileage, i should be putting in 95 octane.if this is the case, then how it's not stated in the owner's manual?

I have had to look into alignment probelms again and replace the brakes and the tires again. I also was told by the dealer that this was because of "normal" wearing of the cv joints and that my front axle was shot so i had to replace this too. My wife was driving our 1999 nissan quest on the interstate the first time the driver front brake locked up. She drove the vehicle to stones river nissan of murfreesboro, tn where they replaced the brake calipers, hoses, rotors, and pads. The brake pads wore out after only 8k miles. Took the vehicle to a different shop to have a tire repaired and the pads replaced and the driver's front locked up again on the technician while road testing his repair. This shop insisted on replacing the driver front brake hose despite knowing it was relatively new. This did not work & they replaced the brake caliper (again) and gave up after it locked up yet again. They towed it to sr nissan, who diagnosed a bad master cylinder & replaced it. Driver front brake still locked up at the shop, now diagnosing bad abs actuator they say was caused by the seals inside the mc deteriorating. My opinion is that this is a design defect, if particulates from a mc can float and clog an abs actuator to the point that lockup of an individual brake occurs. Abs is supposed to prevent lockup, not cause it. The brakes are actually ford design and implementation. I know someone who also had a ford explorer and the passenger front brake locked up on her intermittently like my wife's has. The abs actuator is not available new anymore, my only recourse is to install a junk part which is most likely defective. I think both companies need to be investigated and i think nissan should have to find a new part and pay for installation costs.

The contact owns 1999 nissan quest. While driving approximately 5 mph into a the parking lot the vehicle began to idle excessively until she shifted it into neutral gear and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the vehicle speed control sensor failed. The dealer also stated that the brake system needed to be repaired. The estimated repair cost was $875. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that they would not assist with the repair since the warranty had expired. The current and failure mileages were 78,000.

I have a 1999 nissan quest i bought new and i was never informed by nissan dealer about nhtsa id#s 00v292002- and my vehicle do have the exact problem of vibrating even though i took it in several times even on the second day i bought it; # 99v205002 & 99v347002 if there is a campaign out to have these services done, should'nt nissan follow up on these? i had to change several sets of wheels, tires, endless balancing; fornt end shot twice due to heavy vibrations and nissan never found the answer. I also had and still have the mirrors vibrating so badly that it's difficult to see.

Power steering fluid leaking, due to o-ring at rack gear splitting.

The door latch to the back side of the drivers side sliding door came off and now the door will not latch. This happened while car was stopped.

1999 nissan quest started rusting severely after only 30,000 miles and 4 years of use.

When driving at any speed front and rear bumpers are moving up and down.

While driving, the consumer lost control of the vehicle which came to a stop after spinning and crashing into a power pole, a possible reason to this crash was a loose nut on the suspension right front side wheel and a crack in the plate, the consumer sustained minor injuries due to the air bags deploying, which caused minor bruises in the arms.

Consumer owns a 1999 nissan quest and is inquiring about it's track record regarding any recalls or problems that may have occurred with this vehicle.*mrwhile driving at low speeds like while driving out of a driveway the consumer heard a clunk in the front drivers side wheel .a ball joint was replaced but the noise returned in about two week.

Purchased 1999 quest and went back to seller about vibration and he(reid melton) said that it was fix a flat. We found out that there have not been any fix a flat put into none of the wheels. Front end have been aligned by us a total of 3 times. Beam nissan have worked on the front end and exchanging out other part 10 times. It is better but it still vibrates. Nissan dts said it is comparable to other quest. The new tires that we had put on is wearing out on the outside. One of the alignment shops that wer took it to thought that we had a set of bad tires, so we put this new set on. Beam nissan have had it at an alignment shop for 3 times. This vehicles vibrates at 58-63 mph and the seats just rattles and is very noisy while driving. You can feel the vibrations at other speed but it is the most noticable at 58-63 mph. We are afraid, because we don't know what will happern while driving this van. We are embrassed to ride others. We have been to bbb, but they denied the repurchase because of the local inspector. They telephoned him about his decision. He did not read his notes from coast-coast inspections and took us for a test ride and made comments to us that was not in line wiht the faxed report that we received. He said that he (herby james, watkins auto sales. He did not tell them what was on the inspection report. They had interpeted his comments.i have all notes and paper work and a signed letter from beams service manager about them not being able to repair my vehicle. I have contacted the attorney generals office. They told me to contact this office. This van had only 22,314 miles at the time of purchase with a full warranty. By the dts for nissan saying that it was comparable i can no longer get the repairs done under my full warranty. We feel that this van is unsafe because they have admitted that they could not repair the problem. We have been told that we may have to put up with the vibration that we may just have a bad one. Please help us.

After vehicle reaches 17,00 miles steering wheel and frontbegan to shake giving the vehicle a rough ride. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed as having bent rear axle.the vehicle was never been in accident so the bent axle should be manufacturer defect.the tires are worn prematurely, but the dealer refused to pay for the replacements claiming at 17000 miles it is a normal wear.

Both rear tires failed the first was the r rear and 3 hours later the left rear the hwy patrol was on the scene but said since there was no accident he could not file a report on property damage.(tiresize: p215/70r15)

Shortly after purchasing the quest, i noticed a vibration in the vehicle steering wheel and encountered a rough ride when the vehicle went over 30 miles an hour. I took the car to the dealer the first time and they balanced and rotated the tires. Shortly after, i experienced the same problem and returned to the dealer. This time the dealer told me that the tires were out of "true" and that i needed to go to goodyear to have the tires replaced. Goodyear replaced two of the tires. A few months later, i returned to goodyear because the problem returned. Goodyear then replaced one additional tire. Within a few months, i returned to goodyear again with the same problem and they agreed to change all four tires. Within a few months i returned to goodyear with the same problem and they suggested that the vehicle weight may of been too much for the tires so he requested that i replace the performance tires on the vehicle with other tires. I agreed and goodyear again replaced all four tires. In december 2001, i once again returned to the goodyear because the problem was once again present. They agreed to replace the tires, but felt that the problem was with the suspension on the quest rather than a defect on the tire. The second problem i've encounter with the quest since about 15,000 miles is the accelerator pedal sticks. This is a more serious problem because on several occasions the problem almost caused an accident. It occurs when the vehicle is stopped at a light, and i then try to accelerate. The pedal is so stuck, that when it finally gives way the vehicle takes off quickly. This also happens if i take my foot off the accelerator to slow down, then if i try to accelerate again i can't. I took it in for service, but the dealer said it was an intermitten problem and could not replicate the difficulty. The problem is still intermitten, but i noticed that when i drove it in florida on vacation this past month, it occured regularly.

The tread on tires also wore prematurely. Consumer also stated the brake rotors on front and rear of vehicle are prematurely wearing.

When cruise control is activated, it does not always turn off when the brakes are applied or cancel switch is pushed.if i have cruise set at 65 and approach and intersection or object in the road or lower speed zone, and apply the brakes but then press the accelerator to continue at a lower speed (45), the accelerator will go down on its own and the van will accelerate on its own till it hits the 65 mph that was originally set on the cruise.this occured 3 out of the last 5 times the cruise control was used.i had to quicly apply brakes again when i noticed this happening to avoid child in road and the back passenger was injured slightly on the head when this happened.the problem was reported to nissan who replied that it may not be on warranty, but when taken to the dealer and discussed, i had to pay the 50 dollar copay on a 54 dollar repair.i have not tried to use the cruise contol since being serviced.

Unable to depress accelerator without great force.pedal suddenly "gives" causing vehicle to lunge forward. Dealers explanation was clogged throttle body.ques.-should i expect throttle body to stick every 25k miles. Also i know of another person whose nissan quest experienced the same problem.

While driving about 20 mph and coming to a stop, van would not stop because throttlewas stuck.driver had both feet onbrake pedal and shifted van into park to stop. Shut off ignition.started up with no problem.van looked at by the dealership, not problem could be found.nissan contacted, but provided no help. *ml

Throttle plate sticking, nissan states maintenance needed to remove carbon buildup.no maintenance to throttle plate stated in owners manual.appears to be too close tolerance in throttle plate to housing fit.slight wear in bushings allow misalignment and thust sticking of throttle plate off idle.nissan motors totally unresponsive and stated that this is a problem they see all the time and requires cleaning of the throttle plate and body.refer to file no. 3116108 regional service advisor - lenice dower800-647-7261.please do not allow this to build into a "firestone tire" debacle.

Nissan quest 1999. Cruise control malfunction causing the vehicle to gain speed and get out of control. Stopping the vehicle becomes very difficult.

The accelerator pedal was sticking.*nlm

The contact owns 1999 nissan quest. While driving approximately 5 mph into a the parking lot the vehicle began to idle excessively until she shifted it into neutral gear and turned the vehicle off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the vehicle speed control sensor failed. The dealer also stated that the brake system needed to be repaired. The estimated repair cost was $875. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that they would not assist with the repair since the warranty had expired. The current and failure mileages were 78,000.

Problem manifest itself as a "sticking" gas pedal.thjis is a problem that could cause an accident.informed that throttle body accumulates carbon. Is there any other information regarding this problem.

Sticking throttle caused by build-up of soot, carbon, gum, or whatever it is in the throttle body assembly.the throttle requires excess pressure to overcome its sticking.then, when it unsticks, the vehicle lurches forward faster than expected.this can be a very unsafe reaction at times, depending on the situation.it is also very hard on my wife's neck; she has had a cervical discectomy and fusion.i have received a class action lawsuit which proposes reimbursement for throttle body cleanings or replacements and free future cleanings/replacements during the manufacturer's warranty period.all this is wonderful and good for the original owner(s) --- at least during the warranty period --- but does nothing to improve safety!what if you wreck taking the car to their shop?and what happens when someone else buys the vehicle who isn't aware of the problem?if you need a copy of the lawsuit, i made one just for you.other information that you might need follows:nissan quest settlement administrator, c/o rosenthal & company llc, p.o. Throttle body assembly problem, petal gets stuck and considerable pressure is needed to move on.*sc

Vehicle lost acceleration on hwy traveling at approx 60mph.

Acceleratorincreased on its own intermittently.dealer replaced the throttle position sensor and the surges have stopped.*ml

I received the information about the settlement regarding the throttle body cleaning.i called my local dealer and 1-800-nissan1 to request a throttle body cleaning.my van currently has 80,000 miles on it.i have in my possession 2 invoices (1 at 52,000 miles and 1 at 70,000 miles) from the dealer showing where i took the vehicle in for service regarding this problem (and other things) and they did nothing about it.i was told (as others were) that it is maintenance and i chose not to have it done (or not to spend $150).i purchased the extended service agreement from the local dealer.at this point, i have been told that they will not perform a throttle body cleaning on my vehicle because it is out of warranty--even though i have proof from the dealer that i was having this problem and even though i bought the extended service agreement.my husband and i have owned 4 nissans--we will never own another!*la

Due to the accelerator pedal sticking, it has been necessary to clean the throttle body on two occasions.i consider this problem a safety issue as the vehicle lurches forward when sufficient pressure is applied to the petal that will override the stuck throttle.the forward lunge will become acute if cleaning is delayed.i experienced the problem almost immediately after the 36 month warranty period had expired (i now understand that the warranty period was extended but without any notice to the vehicle owners).my disappointment in nissan is:1.no notice was received to alert owners of a safety issue of this magnitude.2.that no recall notice was received to correct the problem and3.that no notice was received to advise owners that the warranty period had been extended and to bring their vehicle in for a throttle body inspection.

Accelerator pedal constantly sticking!there is is a major problem and should be addressed by the national highway and traffic safety administration. I know that there is a class action suit involving the throttle-body cleaning but my vehicle does not qualify because the warranty has expired. The problem has existed since the vehicle was new but the dealership said that they could not find a problem with it. I have all of this documented in service receipts and paperwork. Why would i want to be a part of a settlement that revokes all my rights just because my warranty has expired? this should not be based on the issue of if your car is still under warranty or not. This is a very dangerous issue and should be considered a recall from nissan north america or by the national highway and traffic safety administration now!!!! before families are killed because of an known accelerator sticking problem.

After driving the van for 10-15 miles, the gas pedal sticks. This is a very serious problem that i feel nissan should find a way to fix. I went to the dealership and was told i would have to pay $130.00 to have the carbon build-up removed. I asked why was it not covered in my 3yr/36,000mi warrenty, i was told it was not covered because it was normal "wear and tear" . If that was normal then why is it not in the owners manual. It happends daily so for safety reasons i will have to foot $130.00 of my hard earned money for something that shouldn't be happening. I thought i was getting a reliable family van, but i thought wrong. I have always owned nissan's( 3maxima's, 2 stanza's 1 quest ) and have referred over 20 people to buy nissan's, but as far as a van goes i am very dissatisfied.

Dt*:the contact stated the accelerator pedal sticks.excessive pressure must be applied to make the vehicle accelerate.the dealership cleaned the throttle a year and a half ago, but the problem returned.

The gas pedal on my 1999 nissan quest sticks quite often, such that you must jam your foot onto the pedal to depress it. This is a dangerous situation as when you do jam the pedal the car must accelerate quickly into traffic. My mechanic looked at the pedal and could not find any problem with it, since it wouldn't stick when he was testing it. However, it does get stuck very often. I've seen postings on the web from others who also state the same problem with this vehicle. I would like to join the growing list of people complaining about this trouble in case there is a major issue (i.e., deaths on the roadway) resulting which causes the vehicle to be recalled.* jb

When the gas pedal is pressed it will not go unless you punch the gas pedal and then you spin out.the dealership claims that it is a carbon build up and should be cleaned periodically, but the manual does not say anything about it being a regulat maintenace item.they claim it is but i feel if it is then it should be listed with all other maintenance items.i have pulled out several times with plenty of time to get pulled out but my accelarator would not go and i have almost been hit because of this.i feel it is a safety hazard and would like more to done.i shouldn't have to pay $135 for something to be cleaned when it is not in my manual.i have checked with other oweners and they haven't had this problem.one person who has a chevy mailbu had this problem but chevrolet covered his under warranty.if it is a maintenance item then nissan should have to publish in the their owners manual.

Accelerator pedal sticking. This has happened on two or more occasions. I have not been back to the dealershipyet because i don't want them wasting my timewith telling me that this is a maintenance problem as they have told so many others here in this column. This is definetly a defect and requires an investigation.

Accelerator cable continuously sticks. This is caused by debris in the fuel injection system.

Consumer states that the accelerator pedel sticks when vehicle comes to a stop.

When taking off from a stop there was a delay in acceleration. The gas pedal stuck. Also, when braking the brakes made a loud squeaking noise after the brake pads were replaced.

The throttle body has now been cleaned 3 times because the gas pedal contiues to stick.the car was under warranty once and the lawsuit against nissan paid for the second, but i recently paid for the third.this has occurred at about 30,000 miles, 55,000 miiles and now 81,000 miles.this is a life threatening situation.this car should be recalled.

Dt*:the contact stated the throttle body sticks.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership twice prior for cleaning; however the throttle body is sticking again.according to contactaccelerator pedal continued to stick while in traffic . She was scared because her grand children were in vehicle.

After coming to a complete stop the accelerator pedal sticks.it started out periodically, but now occurs frequently and i will be taking it in for service.

Gas pedal sticks..approximately 3 years ago we had this problem fixed at the dealership. Not long after that we received a notice in the mail telling us if we had problems with the gas pedal sticking and had paid to have this repaired that we would be due a refund.. We filled out the required paperwork and have never heard backfrom nissan.. I had forgotten about this until now.... We are having the same problemagain, with the gas pedalsticking...........please advise as to what can be done to correct this oversight....and continued problem.

When driving gas pedal would stick from time to time. Needs to press hard to get pedal to work. When this happens, vehicle fails to accelerate. Problem is intermittent. Has contacted dealership.

Accelerator is sticking causing sudden acceleration.this event occurs approximately 15-20% oftime at random intervals.dealership has not examinedvehicle.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Two safety issues: i looked up my 1999 quest minivan information and saw 4 recalls.i have never taken my quest in for a recall -- because i never received any information on them.i hope that means that mine was not affected? second, we have an ongoing issue with the accelerator sticking, due to carbon buildup.i have gotten the information for the lawsuit to reimburse me for the expenses -- but the issue still remains.at this point, we have had the throttle cleaned at least 4 times (i'm assembling my receipts) and need to have it cleaned again now.it seems like nissan ought to recall the part and correct the issue.it is unreasonable that it keeps happening.plus, the reimbursement claim form only allows a $45 reimbursement; i just got an ad from nissan for a "discount" price of $89.95 to clean the throttle.why would the reimbursement amount and the ad price be so out of line.the accelerator sticking is a major safety issue that i hope nhtsa will investigate since nissan has not taken the responsibility to ensure safety is a part of its normal process.if you make a bad part, own up to it and do not endanger lives.

The accelerator pedal became stuck and the driver had to press hard on the pedal to release it, then the vehicle jumped forward. *nlm

First time was done and corrected on 3/25/03 $176.00vehicle speed control, increased accelerator pedal resistancedue to an accumulation of throttle-chamber deposit. Second time was done 2/11/06 $139.99 but not corrected. Suggested to change the throttle with cost of $860.00.

Gas pedal sticks.

Where to start....brakes; 65,000 miles and we're on the 4th set (we've replaced them 3 times)!efi... Every 25,000 miles the throttle sticks and yes, we joined the class action.and the latest?the crossover pipe on the exhaust system broke, filling the cabin with exhaust... Engine parts should last longer.

The accelerator pedal "sticks".requires excessive pressure to push down.the full body throttle has been cleaned but i still have a problem.there is a class action settlement going on that would allow me to be reimbursed for the charges paid for the cleaning but the problem is dangerous.the pedal will stick while going down the road and/or crossing a busy intersection.i have two children i have to transport in that vehicle daily.it is my understanding that all 1999 nissan quest models have this problem and i don't think i should have to pay to fix their problem.

Windshield wipers come on by themselves. Also, while driving the moulding that holds the windows in fell out. Consumer is afraid that the entire window may fall in on them while driving. *ml

Windshield wiper system while in the "high" mode, makes a distracting noise which causes occupant not to use the high mode, but the medium mode which may cause visual diffculty.the wiper blade hits the side of the vehicle.dealer said its the characteristic of the vehicle. Nissan corporation is calling it a design flaw. Also, when the vehicle is at a stop and the a/c system is on, the vehicle lurches forward when the idle changes, which may cause a crash..
