Airbag light is on. Dealer quoted $ 1000.00 to replace sensor.

1997 nissan quest. Neither driver or passenger airbag deployed in the accident.

Violent deployment of air bag upon collision, causing injury to consumers, also started a fire on passenger's side of vehicle.

Front collision at 50 mph, neither airbag deployed, consumer suffered severe whiplash. Damage to vehicle was $ 4300.00. On 27 april 2002, front collision at 40 mph, neither airbag deployed, no injuries. Damage to vehicle was $ 4500.00.

Consumer was involved in a head-on collision ,traveling 40 mphand hitting a cement block, in which neither driver's or passenger's side air bags deployed. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Please provide any further details.

The contact owns a 1997 nissan quest. The contact was attempting to park when both frontal air bags deployed independently. The contact sustained unknown injuries by the air bags. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was not illuminated when air bags deployed. The manufacturer inspected the vehicle but had not provided the contact with a reason why the air bags deployed. The vehicle was not repaired.the vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was 105,000 and the current mileage was 108,000.

Vehicle rear ended another vehicle at about 35 to 40mph, and neither driver's side nor passnger's side airbags deployed. Dealer has not seen vehicle.

Air bag warning light failed.

When i tried to start the car air bag light started to flash for no particular reason. Car was not in any accident. Dealer replaced air bags:sensor/control module. Since it happened without any reason, i conclude that air bag system supplied with nissan quest is unsafe and will not help during accident.this is a manufacturer fault, i would like to be reimbursed for the repair price ($800).

Electronic sensor/ control module for airbags has totally failed (airbag warning light flashing) after just over 6 years and less than 38750 miles of usage of the 1997 nissan quest gxe which was bought in march 1997.it cost about $640.00 in replacing the module from the nissan dealer.

Manufacturer refused to investigate why the consumer's vehicle stalled. *ph the vehicle would stall without cause.the mechanics could not find the problem.the consumer request to be reimbursed for the repair costs, economic losses, and loss of transportation.other problem are as followed:the engine would come on along with the vehicle dying out, output shaft leak, brake leakage, a/c did not blow cold, power antenna made noises when in use, the sunroof leaked water, right rear wheel leaked fluid, and there was leak coming form the left axle area.the service dealer found the positioning cable was not making connection and the fuse links did not make a connection, the a/c remained blowing cold after 2 hoses had been replaced.the a/c compressor was coming apart internally causing metal to release throughout the system. *sc

While driving with a/c unit on vehicle looses power, starts shaking and shuts off completely.nlm

I have had multiple issues with the electricalsystem in this van.various lights will come on when i turn on the operating lights at night, but some will randomly not work.for example, the lights on the heater will sometimes come on if i push buttons up and down the panel, or turn the fan off and on.sometimes i can get the lights on the am/fm cassette to come on if i push various buttons for the radio stations.the lights on the dashboard have gone out completely by degrees.i currently have a dark dashboard.these problems started happening the day i bought this vehicle used, and i took it back to somersworth nissan (in somersworth, new hampshire) where i bought it. But first they said they could not get the problem to happen, so i took it back exactly when it was happening once, and that time they said they could not fix the problems, that it must be electrical and would cost me a lot of money to figure out what is wrong and fix it.this dealership also forced me to purchasing a one year warranty on the vehicle, and when i tried to cancel the warranty within the time the contract allowed, they refused to allow me to cancel it, and said, so sue us!.they knew i was a single mom, who was trying to find a car that would accommodate my six children, and they knew i could not afford to take them to court.since purchasing this car three years ago from somersworth nissan in somersworth, new hampshire, i have been made aware of many illegal and dirty business dealings with others.

The vehicle was being operated with the a/c on, car charger plugged in and the radio on.while driving 80 mph in the passing lane.when the consumer put a cd into the cd changer the vehicle lost all power.the consumer parked the vehicle on the shoulder of the highway.two hours later the vehicle could be restarted.*nlm

Consumer took vehicle to be inspected by nissan, they feel the accident was a result of human error, also the battery forms corrosion quickly.several times consumer has cleaned battery cables only to have the corrosion come back.*jg

Battery blew up when car started, steering grinds on turns (won't pass inspection!), two middle windows the closing devices each fell apart at separate times, check engine light is on and won't go off, mechanics can not find source of problem.

Battery exploded for unknown reason. Mjs

On 6/30/01, when i started the car in my house garage and heard a deafening explosion with a big smoke that like a bomb exploded. My daughter and i was shocked unconsciously for seconds.after checking and found that explosion caused by battery which i replaced in sept. 1999 with wondries nissan.at that time i was told it had 4 years warranty.on 7/2/01 8:00 a.m., i call nissan (800-647-7261) and talked to ms. Mendozn. She asked me to tow my van to the nearest dealor gunderson nissan.after checking, i was told the alternator is over charged and caused the battery explosion.for this kind of problem, nissan won't take any responsibility for this incident, and i should pay for replacing these two defective parts.i am very angry about this kind of answer.i think nissan should take responsibility for this incident for following reasons: 1.i just got 60,000 miles maintenance service with wondries nissan in this february and they should find something wrong.2. This is unnormal and very dangerous incident. It will cause a car accident if this happened on the freeway or cause a fire, because the parts problems.3. The car designer should predict this kind of problem and design the safety measure.i hope you can investigate this incident.

1997 quest stalls out with no warning. Has done this since 1999. Have taking van to dealer several times, with no luck. Also called nissan and reported problem. No help. There are several problems with stalling of nissan's since 1994,they should know something by now?

All the doors are locking up automatically wheneverconsumer gets out of the vehicle. Also, wheneverconsumer takes the key out of ignition, or with the key in the ignition, vehicle is still running.

I just wanted to state that i have identified with most of the failure problems that are listed on the complaint page. The right rear seat belt has failed, it will not pullout or retract, and no one cause this problem, it is a malfunction of the saet belt. There is a significant fuel odor in the van from time to time, no particular time noted. The sliding door does not lock and unlock properly, and it will lock by itself and stick, also it will not stay in the open position consistantly.my brake pads are going out, it may just be normal wear and tear, but they seemed to go out all of a sudden. In general it makes all kinds of whistling, grinding and bumping noises when driving.

While the vehicle was parked the consumer heard the vehicles hornblowing and went to see what the problem was. Upon reaching the vehicle the consumer saw smoke coming from under the hood of the vehicle.the insurance investigator indicated that the wire within the engine loom shorted and melted other wires in the loom, which caused the smoke.on a separate occasion the 10 amp fuse blew causing the vehicles dash indicators (speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge) to stop working.the vehicle has been plagued with multiple electrical failures*nlm

Purchased used 56k w/in 30days engine lightair conditioner workedat first, thensometimes not air conditioner never cooled the car like others we use. I purchased a 1997 nissan quest from bell honda august 30,2003 at 9:30 pm. By 1:30 pm the next day (16 hours later) the check engine light was on and the back suspension sounded like it was 100 years old. The windshield washers did not function properly and it was monsoon season. The switch for power windows was not working, i had a brake light out, no sun visor, and no dash lights to illuminate my gauge cluster at night. All within 16 hours and 15.5 of those hours it was sitting in my driveway not even being used. I drove it 5 minutes down the road when i bought it and then 8 minutes to the church the following morning, and then 15 minutes back to the dealership to report the problems. I asked for my trade in back and they refused. They placed my quest in the shop and left it there for 10 days. Of which 2 of those days they did not even give me a loaner car knowing that the quest was my only vehicle for me and my husband to go to and from work and take my daughter to school everyday 20 miles away. They contacted me and let me know the car was ready and had no problems and within 5 seconds of turning on the car and driving just a few feet i knew the car had not been fixed it was malfunctioning the same way. I asked them to refix and they told me they could not duplicate the problem. I then demanded to see the owner and asked yet again for my trade in back this was now the third time asking for it or my money.i met the owner some days later. He told me i could keep the quest or he would put me in a new car. He never gave me a choice just threw another vehicle at me and even charged me more money to do it. I hate the new vehicle and will not drive it not to mention i am fearful of my safety as i do not trust this dealership nor their vehicles anymore. I just want my old car back or my money and never see this dealership again. I hope you post this loud and clear.

While driving at any speed, the vehicle suddenly stalled.the dealership serviced the vehicle, but the cause of stalling wasundetermined.

Engine experiences loss of power, then surges back. Slips in and out, rpms fall up to 1000 with each slip. Problem is intermittent and occurs at all speeds. Dealer finds nothing.

Engine noise intermittently. Mjs

When stopping at a light the vehicle cuts off when going through an intersection. Dealer has seen vehicle 8 times and can't find problem.

I bought this nissan quest 1997 two years ago and i was told there is afaulty gas tank that can cause a fire.i contacted dealers in my area and was told the repair was done in one of the dealers but they never wanted to provided anything in writing that shows the repair. Courtesy nissan in tampa florida was terribleand didn't want to help, i contacted nissan at the 1800 number and this guy chris at extension 8443 told me i was going to receive a letter showing the repair but i waited two weeks and never received nothing, when i called him back he never responded to my calls and i spoke with tammy at extension 3879 and said what chris told me was a lie i am very tired of this company lying to me everytime i call ,i just wanted this people to be investigated, they have a terrible service at the 1800 number and i feel like me and my kids are traveling in a dangerous van, i won't recommend anybody to buy nissan quest or dealing with nissan courtesy at tampa or the 1800 nissan number, i wish somebody can investigate these people and do something about it, because i don't think is fair to buy a car with a dangerous recall and they don't even want to provide information if it was fixed or not or at least have it check. I won't buy a nissan ever in my life, terrible company.

My 97 nissan quest gxe sliding door opens unexpedtedly while driving. Especially when running over bumps and pot holes.

When unlocking the doors they appear to be unlocking, but they relock by themselves immediately.the consumer stated that sometimes takes 4 to 5 tries to get into van. Also locks will relock automatically if you use key or remote.

Rear passenger's sliding door does not lock or latch properly. Whenever riding over a bumpdoor will pop open.dealer has been contacted.

The car locks spontaneously and constantly.it is a known defect (service bulletin 98068).we did not purchase the car while it was under warranty from the manufacturer, however since this is such a safety concern (my 2 year old nephew was locked in the car in his car seat over labor day weekend), i feel the manufacturer should pay to have it fixed.they are refusing.

Passengers are getting trapped inside vehicle and locks cannot be secured from outside due to a defect within locks and alarm system. Dealer has had vehicle 8 times, but cannot determine cause or fix defect.consumer states parts have been replaced 6 times and locks have not worked since purchase of vehicle.

Battery blew up when car started, steering grinds on turns (won't pass inspection!), two middle windows the closing devices each fell apart at separate times, check engine light is on and won't go off, mechanics can not find source of problem.

The vehicle has been plagued with a reoccurring intermittent "rubbing" sound when turning the steering wheel.nissan has characterized the problem as "excessive friction" and "internal failure".to date, they have replaced the rack & pinion steering gear assembly, and associated parts 3 times, 8/97, 7/98 and 1/99. With the last replacement we were told that the rack & pinion being installed was a redesigned one.however, the noise has returned just under a year (10,000 miles) from the last replacement.we are currently attempting to get both the dealership and the manufacturer to address this reoccurring problem again.

Allelectrical door locks are working intermittently.consumer had the vehicle inrepair shop twice. Still, dealer can't determinet the cause.

Erratic operation of the electric door locks has prevented access through the sliding side door, and occasionally has prevented passengers from exiting through the sliding door (they were locked in). The keyless remote sounds like it is locking the doors, but intermittently leaves the sliding door unlocked.

Since 1999, doors lock without any warning.happens while driving down road & when stopped, engine running or not. When doors unlocked, they will immediately re-lock themselves.seems to literally resist unlocking.will lock while trying to open doors and will stop doors from opening.

Recently saw a story on this on cbs news, son has been trapped in car, wife had to climb in through sunroof.

When goingin or out of the vehicle alldoors will automatically lock. Sometimes whengetting out doors will lock beforegetting children out.a child crawled in, anddoors locked. Consumer had to get key to let child out.

Power door locks engage without the control being touched.this has happened both while driving, and while parked.

During a vehicle crash the window and door locks malfucntioned while being in a "locked" position, and the occupant wasn't able to get out of the vehicle, had to go through a broken window to get out.

Door locks lock and unlock by themselves.when i walk to the otherside to remove my children, the doors will automatically lock under my hand.i have had my children locked in the van due to this malfunction, but fortunately was at my home.i have had it in for repair 3 times.first the dealership said they could not get the card to repeat the malfunction.i continued to complain and then the sliding door actuator was replaced with no resolution of problem.i took the van back and the drivers main lock and unlock switch was replaced and still to this day the vehicle has "possessed" locking system.the dealership said they can only now try to open the door panel and grease the contacts with a waterproof grease as they believe moisture may be shorting out the system, but they can give me no promise that this will fix the problem.i have spent a lot of time and money on this problem andi am absolutely terrified of locking my children in the car. The dealership said they have never had this problem before with the quests, but my husband said he saw this on tv and that nissan has no fix for the problem.i just want to know who i should get to fix this problem.thank you for your time.sincerely, [xxx]. Door locks will lock and unlock on their own. At times slider won't open preventing occupants from exiting vehicle. Front doors have locked and couldn't be unlocked trapping occupants in car. Locks on door show vehicle locked, alarm can be set but front doors can be opened. No way to know if van is really locked or not. Van will sometimes lock on their own sometimes locking us out. Van has been repaired 8 times but problem still cont. Door actuators have been replaced 5 times but still malfunction at times. At times alarm will go off by itself and car can be started and driven with alarm sounding.

Doors lock automatically in hot weather. Consumer feels children could be in danger.

The power door lock system appears to intermittently locks itself.this usually occurs with the vehicle not moving when i open the driver side door manually after energizing the remote control.

Consumer states the electric door locks will lock the vehicle with no signal from the door locking buttons or the remote device.

All the doors are locking up automatically wheneverconsumer gets out of the vehicle. Also, wheneverconsumer takes the key out of ignition, or with the key in the ignition, vehicle is still running.

When opening hatchback door, without warning, there was a loud noise, resulting ina part ofspring module breaking off.

*sc
