I've been having problems with my van stalling on me in. It usually happens in hot temperatures, but lately has been happening in average temps.the engine light comes on and there is a very loud humming noise coming from the back of my van. Very scary! it sounds like it will explode! this started happening about 1998. In august 1998, we were evacuating for a hurricane and we were left stranded on the interstate. It was hot and the traffic was really bad.we didn't know what to do!we waited around for about an hour and then tried to start the engine and it worked! about 30 minutes later, the same thing happened.we waited again, and it started. 15 minutes down the road, we were stuck! we finally worked our way out of harms way, needless to say, very late! bad weather! the next day, we did not have any problems with the van! as a matter of fact, the van didn't stall on us for about another month or so! then it started again! always when it was hot, and sometimes when stuck in traffic! this has been happening for some time now! i've called the dealership where i bought my van and they never did return any of my calls! i brought my van in several times to be checked out and they could never find a problem!odd huh? i normally don't have any complaints with my van, but i just can't continue to drive around with my children, not knowing when it will stop on me again! something needs to be done about this. Recently, my van stalled on me and left me on the highway and wouldn't get me but about 2 blocks more without stopping. Thats why i couldn't enter my vin #, because my van is in the shop. They have had it for 2 days now and they can't seem to find the problem! again! i've been researching this and noticed a lot of other complaints about the same problem. Should there be arecall or something? when so many vehicles with the same make, model and year, have the same problems? have problems starting in cold weather. Hadhad front end accident and airbag didn't open.

It was very icy on the road consumer pressed on brakes to avoid hitting another driver, and vehicle didn't stop.consumer hit the other car in the rear, and airbags didn't deploy. Consumer feels that airbags should have deployed from the damage done to the vehicle.

While driving consumer rearended another vehicle, anddriver's side air bag did not deploy. Also, driver hit chest against steering wheel.had not contacted dealer.

Air bag deployed with no impact, driving slowing on residential road.

Electrical short or shock in the ignition system and the power doors do not lock.

Driving on a 2 lane mountain road, sudden loss of acceleration and power, able to manuever car to road edge. Husband did a couple of checks under hood, removed distributor cover and found a screw with a washer and lock washer had dislodged and fallen out, causing immediate loss of power without warning. He was able to place screw back in position and tighten it. I was lucky thatb i was not alone and that there was not another vehicle immediately behind us at the time. The same thing happened on the eve of nov. 28, 1999. I was with two of my children and, once again, there was a sudden loss of acceleration and loss of power. Once again, i was very lucky in that i was across a 6lane road from a shopping center and i could call from help at a store there. Once again, i was only able to manuever the van to the roadside. My husband arrived to find that they exact same thing had accurred. Had this been on a freeway, i feel it could create a deadly situation as is the loss of speed is so fast that a vehicle behind could slam into the van.i mentioned the occurrence to a mechanic at the dealer noted after the initial occurrence, but he expressed no knowledge of any vehicle recalls in this area. I have been in touch with the service dept.(yesterday)with vernon in particular, who is very nice

Driving on interstate highway for approximately 2 hours at70 mph, without warning, engine quit entirely. Had to weave in traffic to avoid other vehicles and coast tothe median.after resting 15 minutes, engine would restart.traveled and additional 1-1/2 hours and same thing happened.after restart, traveled for an additional hour without incident.took vehicle to mechanic the next day and could not find a problem.this is a dangerous situation to have the vehicle quit at high speeds on the highway.from reviewing other complaints on you web site, it is apparent that this is a common occurrence and the manufacturer needs to address this danger to the owners.

Will start, run 5 minutes then die.the wiring to the radiator fan fuse box is burnt.took it to nissan dealerwho replaced the burnt wires, cost $75.they said the engine wiring needed replaced.i called a dealer near home and they said it would cost $3000 to fix this.this is half of what the car is worth.we have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, and ignition coil.

Sliding door lock has been repaired but never stays repaired.can not be opened from inside at times, can not be unlocked with key.repaired defective fan in july 99.air conditioned is fully charged but is blowing hot air.unable to determine problem, but appear to be relatively new hoses.hoses are goodyear, so i assume they have been replaced at least once.as second owner, i do not know how many times these problems have occured prior to my purchase.

While driving the vehicle is constantly overheating. The dealer has replaced thethermostat, the water pump andradiator replaced.

Cooling fan motor overheated and started melting the wiring.

We have a 1995 nissan quest at 75,000 mileages that is well maintained and runs very smoothly.we dropped off the car to apple nissan in york pa on 11/26 for a preventive maintenance (change of timing belt, water pump, thermostat, all driving belts) of its engine.after we paid $848 and drove it home, i found the coolant in the reservoir was totally empty so i added coolant on the following two days to maintain it at a proper level.on the third day (11/28) when i drove the car to work, its crankshaft broke and the whole engine was destroyed.the total driving distance is less than 50 miles after the service.the nissan dealer blamed nissan inc. Had designed the crankshaft too small so the shaft is easy to break and could be broken anytime like a tv and mine was not the only one, while nissan usa said the warranty was expired so it could not do anything about it.none of them would take any responsibility, whether the broken shaft was due to improper service or improper design by nissan.as a result, we became a victim who had to decide either paying additional $4,670+tax for the repair or letting the car ($4500 value before the service) towed to a junk yard.assuming a design fatigue life of a crankshaft is 150,000 mile, the probability of the event occurs at 75,000 miles within 50 miles driving is less than 0.1%.without the service, we might still drive the car smoothly.on the nissan usa side, they were aware that the crankshaft was too small so they increased the diameter in 1996 models.why didn't they warn the first owners so that i could have a choice to either trade in the car or let the car naturally die without spending additional money for new tires (3 weeks ago) and the engine service?the other faulty crankshaft cases can be found athttp://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ee93b52/1938http://www1.epinions.com/auto-review-ccc-ad8a28c-396533d0-prod2.

My crankshaft in the engine broke at the timing belt pulley side.i had only 53288 miles on the van and have found others that have experienced the exact same failure in the same location.beginning in 1996 nissan went to a larger crankshaft.if this was due to a known problem with the earlier crankshafts (1993-1995) then customers should have been notified and the repairs made.a broken crankshaft at a high rate of speed could be fatal.this has been the third noted broken crankshaft at the dealership at this location according to the mechanic.

Crank shaft broken when nissan dealer try to change timing belt. The next day i call aaa tow my 1995 quest to arco gas station. The technician of arco found the crank shaft was broken but already broken about 1/2 before i drove to dealer to change timing belt. The new 1/2 broken probably caused by after removing timing belt and crank shaft bolt. The pulley is too heavy for crank shaft to hold it. So when nissan's technician try to remove crankshaft pulley, the pulley drop with broken piece of crank shaft. It happen at milage 89,000. Crank shaft suppose will never broken during normal driving.

Crankshaft broken at 85k, after recent dealer installation of timing belt.engine died while driving, luckily we weren't in traffic.had a similar problem at 21k - driving on the expressway and lost most of the engine power.again, not much traffic, and this time the car would still drive (slow) so we could get to a dealer where all belts and aseal to crankshaft was replaced.

While driving 65 mphengine stalled, vehicle lost power brakes and power steering.vehicle at dealer at this time, crankshaft had broken.

Purchased the quest in june of 2000.second owner of the vehicle.it even had all of the service records (oil changes etc.) listed in the book that came with it from the original owners.while on a trip to texas, the engine died while driving down an interstate.the check engine light came on, then the van just died.we coasted to the side of the highway.it was extremely hot outside (around 95 degrees).we had only had the vehicle for around 2 months.after waiting for about 30 minutes, tried to restart and it did restart.went to a mechanic to see if they could look it over, they did and found nothing wrong with the car.it started just fine for them and they even test drove it for us.continued with our trip and got home safely.that was the first time of many times that the exact same problem occured.after the second time, we took the car to the local dealership and they replaced a hose and said it was the problem (a hole in the bp silicon hose was the problem...mechanic stated that it was a widespread problem with this year of quest).occured 3 other times usually when extremely hot outside. The vehicle eventually restarts, and one person can not keep replacing this hose were my thoughts.now, the vehicle is parked at our house, with a ruined engine.we are not sure 'what caused this to happen' is what we were told by our local nissan dealership, and that it will cost more to have the engine replaced then the vehicle is worth.not to mention, we still owe around $5000 on it.after all of the same complaints that i have read on here, why is nothing being done about these problems?the engine stalling in the middle of driving a vehicle is not normal and dangerous.how many times does this have to be said?i am not angry, i just wish something could be done to help all of us who have gone through this.

Broken crankshaft (engine defect) - common to 1993-1995 quest and villager.

I have a nissan 1995 quest. While i was driving to lake tahoe, ca, all of a sudden, the engine lost power, and i could not control the steeling wheel and break. The car almost fell off the cliff. I sent my van to an auto pepair shop right after i arrived in south lake tahoe, but the technician could not find anything wrong with my van, and i drove the van back without any problems. I heard my friend mentioned about this problem several years ago, but when i call nissan, they denied any compliants like this. Please investigate and get back to me. Thanks.

The engine stalled, however the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. On hot days at highway speeds engine turns off.

Enginehead gaskets have cracked prematuraly, causing leakage onto the engine. Dealer is inspecting the vehicle.

Constantly leakingoil from the rear ofvehicle.

Engine failed.

While on interstate hwy the engine "slung a rod" through the oil pan at 65 miles per hour. This resulted in a hazardous loss of powerand a small fire in the engine compartment. Nissan refuses to honor extended warrenty or return calls or respond to written complaints.

My 1995 nissan quest stopped suddenly on april 7, 2000 approx. 4:30 pm during rush hour traffic in wash dc on penn. And branch ave. I had no warning signs nor any known problems with my car. I called for a tow truck that towed my car to wards in hillcrest heights, md. Nissan closes early with no weekend support and i needed my car serviced immediately. Wards checked my car and find that my "timing belt" had broken. I informed wards not to fix it because i had my "timing belt" changed 10 months ago (06/10/99) and nissan should be held responsible for fixing it. I arranged towing again (at my expense) to have my car towed from wards to nissan. Nissan checked my car and informed me that the "timing belt" had broken due to a broken head bolt that had fallen a broke the timing belt. I had purchased an extended warranty from nissan went i bought the car, so everything should have been covered -- it wasn't, because the coverage didn't cover nuts and bolts.i was outage and had been sold a produce that i couldn't use and under false pretense. Nissan service manger (larry)at passport nissan explained to my husband and i my car had an engine the same as the nissan maxima; and he has seen the motor on these cars do the same as mind when the reach approx 75,000 miles.since, this service manager is aware of this problem why wasn't i notified of this problem.i have kept up the service maintenance agreement for this car and should have encountered the problems i had.it costed my $1697.00 to get this fix and i just paid them $657.00 in june.i would like an investigation on this matter.

Passive restraint seatbelts failed six times. Also, emission system malfunctioned on three different occasions.

I've had a 1995 nissan quest since april 2002.last winter ('02/'03) and now this winter, when i turn on the heater and/or defrost, the gas smell inside the van has been completely intolerable.i have to drive in cold weather with the windows down to keep me and my family from passing out from the gas smell.when the weather is warm there is no problem, but as soon as it gets cold, we drive with the windows down.unacceptable!!!*la

Oxygen sensor inoperative.

While driving could smell a strong smell of fuel that forced consumertodrive with window down.had received a recall notice forfuel tank vent hose, but dealer will not take care of that recall unless consumer picked up the expenses.consumer states recall repair was completed with no cost, however dealer stated that the problem was with the fuel injection and it was spraying gas onto the engine, consumer will have to pay for this repair.

A sickening odor of methanegas emitted by the catalytic converter entered the vehicle.

Shortly after purchasing vehilce gas smell was present, each time vehicle was taken in for complaint dealership was unable to denote gas smell.this vehicle was purchased may 1998.the recalled on the vehicle was in 1996.i am the second purchaser and was never notified of the recall.the vehicle started losing power and i was told that the timing chain was going out on the vehicle and it would be expense to repair.i was advise to replace when it when completely out.on november 2004 while driving alone the vehicle went completely out and had to tow to a garage.i was told that the crank shaft of the vehicle has dissentrated .i was told that nissan should repair it because it was a lifetime part and a factory recall on the vehicle in 1996.the nissan dealership was notified a advised me to bring the vehicle in and they would make the necessary repairs.they repaired the vent hose that had been iinstalled incorrectly and refused to repair the crank shaft problem.the estimate from nissian was $4000.00.i still owe $10,00.00 on this vehile.

Air conditioner failed.*skd

Rear fan does not work, apparantly this is a problem with the 1995 quest if you will check this site you will find that alot of people have the same problem . Www.micro-tech-auto.com/bbs/nissan/index.cgi it seems to be a soldering problem or a burnt relay.

I purchased this van used.beginning of july air-conditioner became sporadic.seemed to quit working when it became very hot, but then would start back when speed increased or air temps cooled.in august it quit working all together.gauges showed very high pressure readings. Replaced every single air conditioner component.weather had cooled, everything seemed fine.this july, when temps got in the 90's it did it again.have had more work done to no avail.i did not see this problem under nissan.when getting parts, i was told a/c was same as mercury villager.i found same problem listed in service bulletin 982016, nhtsa #sb603701.no remedy or bulletin was available.help!

Also, manufacturerconfirmed that this vehiclewas not part of the recall.

High mounted light malfunctioned again.recall was taken care 1998. It stayed on andwent out once. Vehicle started moving or hitting a bump.

While driving on the highwayfront side cornering lamp on the passenger side, that was locatednext to the headlights separated and flew off the vehicle. This occurred because the plastic pieceon the back side of cornering lamp that held the lamp in place cracked. The screws were not loose.

Owner believes right rear tail light bulb socket assembly failure should be inclued in existing recall.

Took vehicle to dealer numerous times for both problems, could not remedy situation.the rear tail light assembly was on recall a few years ago, but the consumer was not informed.the windshield wiper was covered under the extended bumper to pumper warranty, but the dealer could not solve the wiper problem.the consumer states without wipers working it was not safe to travel in this vehicle during the rainy season.

I bought a 1995 nissan quest van with 30,000 miles on it about 4 years ago(1999-2000). My complaint is that every winter on very cold days, when we turn the heat on in the mornings you can smell a very bad raw gas smell.after the engine warms up it will usually go away but not always and sometimes when you come to a stop it will start again. I am talking about a very strong gas smell, not just a little bit.it is enough that sometimes we have to get out of the vehicle it's so bad. Sometimes we roll the windows down, which is not very comfortable seeing that it usually happens on the coldest days.i have taken it to a local nissan dealership 2 or 3 times and they have fixed all the recalls and bulletins put out by nissan on problems related to this. These never worked. I also took it to another auto repair shop 3 times to have it fixed. Nothing has worked to this point. This is a little unsettling that the manufacturer of the vehicle cannot even find the problem and i can't keep pouring money into this vehicle and not seeing any results. Nor do i feel comfortable about my family riding around in this vehicle.

While fueling my 1995 nissan quest i noticed fuel dripping from underneath.i had been noticing a fuel smell for sometime after fueling for several months until the leak developed.when i got where i could make a complete inspection i crawled under my vehicle and found there are 2 rubber lines which lead from the fuel neck into the gas tank.i noted that the small line (know as a vent line)had some cracks in it and also i could see vapors emitting from the cracks.i feel like this could be a potential fire hazard and also a hazard to the occupants of the auto because those vapors could possibly enter into the passenger compartment.also this is an enviromential hazard since gas vapors are allowed to vent into the atmosphere.i have talked to several people and also some mechanics and found this to be a common problem.i replaced the vent hose on my auto and it seems to have cured the problem.i feel like this problem needs to be investigated and should there be a wide spread problem then the part needs to be replaced with a better quality rubber.

My wife complained of a strong gasoline odor inside the car.the dealer discovered that the fuel lines over the engine were cracked and were leaking gasoline.we have owned 6 automobiles (all bought new), and this is the first time that one has had a problem with the fuel lines.

The problem with fuel pump wiring inside of fuel tank. The problem started about a year ago with the fuelpump's performance, such as humming sound from tank section or no pump start up at starting the engine.but last day of march of this yeari was not able to start the carat all due to complete pump failure.i consider my self as very good mechanic as far as car is concern. When i open the fuel pump assembly , i discovered two electrcal wires, red(+) and black(-), were tangled each other. Due to friction of two wires together, red wire's insulation were may be two paper-thin leftbof bare copper wire. Black wire were even thinner than red's where i can almost see the bare wires.i could only imagine what could hapenwith electrical short inside the fuel tank. I replaced the fuel pump with original factory part with different rearrangement of electrical wires. I was very lucky to find the problem earlier. You may call me at work or e-mail me .

Engine quit entirely when traveling at 77 mph on interstate .was able to coast into rest area. Was towed to nissan dealer in tallahassee , fl and the fuel pump was replaced. This was not reported at the time to ntsa . I am reporting this now because i now know the problem is wide spread. My son in law bought a quest the same time and he has had 4 failures.2 occured last week. We now find out his sister owns a quest and she has had a failure. It appears the failure occurs at high speeds in hot driving conditions. My concern now is it will happen again if the problem still exists. I have not duplicated those conditions i just described since my incident, but my son in law has. He lives in ca.

We have had three separate incidents when either climbing a mountain or driving through hot dessert conditions that our minivan would suddenly stop! the aaa worker told us that he sees this "all the time" and has to do "weak fuel pumps" in minivans that fail when stressed! our last incident was dangerous occurring on hwy 40 to be repeatedly stuck with high speed trucks passing by us. Our nissan dealer checked his record (a few months back)and confirmed that nissan was aware of this problem but said that it would cost us >$700 to fix to change the fule pump. The latest nissan recall of the fuel hose may also have something to do with this issue. Well we found out the hard way in the hot dessert since this problem does not surface driving in the "cooler" los angeles area.

Consumer had a fuel pump installed by dealer. Also, axle was replaced andwhen she turnedvehicletherewas a noise, like vehiclewas going to break. Consumer has to continue to put power steeringinside ofvehicle. Dealership was aware ofproblem.

The contact owns a 1995 nissan quest. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start.after having the starter and battery replaced, the contact took the vehicle to an authorized dealer and was informed that the fuel pump assembly would also to be replaced. The vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 236,000 and the current mileage was 260,000.

Nissan has service bulletin for cavitation in fuel pump, causing failure.we were stopped in slow lane on 4 lane bridge with vehicles traveling at high speed.requested manufacturer to replace fuel pump.they only offered 50%.my entire family (incl. Myself) was placed in danger.this service bulletin needs to be a recall.

Leakage from loose clamp on hose attached to fuel rail assembly.consumer has had it repaired.

Fuel lines to fuel injectors deteriorate, leak raw gasoline onto motor, strong gas odor in passenger compartment. Very expensive to fix, very difficult to access for dyers - not covered in repair manuals 'how-to'.

Leaks found on 2 fuel injectors on rear back.all insulators for fuel injectors must be replaced, as well as all fuel injectors.extreme fire hazard.$1500.00 repair cost.

The original fuel injectors all failed at 55,000 miles, reported by the dealer to be due to fuel additives that were placed in the fuel by amoco and that were not covered by warranty. They were replaced by the dealer at my cost then 25,000 miles later thay ae failing again. The dealer suggested that i contact nissan, which i did.they imply that i placed additives in the gas which voided the warranty and that they only warrant fuel injectors for 12,000 miles. They also claim that i did not properly maintain the injectors but refuse to give any specific information in writing.this problem has caused the vehicle to stall in traffic several times, nearly resulting in accidents.nissan refuses to addrss this issue and the dealer stated that they have not had injector problems with other quests.do i have a lemon?

We have had many excessive problems with this van which are now compounding at 82,000 miles.when nissan was notified about the premature fuel injector failure, they refused to assist in any way or provide a written response.i am considering action with lemon laws.

When the fuel tank is filled and the vehicle is parked on slightly inclined driveway, fuel leaks out onto driveway from fuel tank line area..this happens every time the fuel tank gets filled and is a safety hazard..

I bought this vehicle used, with approximately 106000 miles. The key comes out of the ignition without being in park. I can even take the key out of the ignition while the vehicle is running or driving down the road. The first time i parked after purchasing the vehicle, i forgot to put it in park and came out of a store and the vehicle had rolled to the middle of the parking lot. Thankfully it hadn't hit another vehicle. When i put it in park, i have to be careful to make sure it is in gear before i exit the vehicle. Keyless entry doesn't work if the car is running.

Transmission failure.

Difficulty shifting into park. Sometimes goes into reverse.when shifting into reverse from park, it goes into neutral instead.good thing nothing was behind the van.

Transmission makes squeking sound when making transition from reverse to forward.

Dt: the contact owns a 1995 nissan quest.the contact stated thatwhile the vehicle was parked indriveway it came out of gear and rolled into the neighbor's garage.the contact stated the vehicle was in park without the key in the ignition.the gear selector was still in park, but the transmission could have slipped to cause the vehicle to roll.the vehicle has not been inspectedby the service dealer to determine the cause of the failure.but the consumercalled the dealership.the manufacturer said that there was no recall on this problemand they would check into the matter.

Consumer's 4 1/2 year old son was able to shift vehicle out of gear, condition which caused vehicle to roll backward and hit the garage door.manufacturer was notified. Please provide any further information. *la

Differential side gear pinion shaft came out and dwstroyed housing assembly, causing transmission failure.

The nissan quest van had a structural failure of the crankshaft.i found that nissan began building motors with 23 mm crankshaft in 1993,but changed to 25 mm crankshaft in 1996 due to the lack of structural integrity of the smaller part.i had to replace the motor at a cost of $3400.i felt that since the originalpart was defective they should be held responsible for the cost of repairs.i have the defective part.

The crankshaft broke off due to a structural failure of the shaft.i spent the next 22 days trying to get nissan to replace the crank and repair the 1995 quest van.nissan began installing larger crankshafts in their 1996 models but they never offered to help with the repairs.i have a small claims court hearing oct 11 and would like to know of all the similar cases that have been filed to date. After 22 days i had the van repaired at my mechanics shop at the cost of $3371.00i still have the crank.

(this is my third complaint regarding the same issue. See earlier complaints (10208146 and 10208146) for additional details.) this is the seventh (7th) time the front-passenger-side lap belt retractor (mounted at the bottom of the door post / body frame) has jammed over the last several years or so. For the 6th repair/replacement (and now the 7th which is pending arrival of yet another replacement part) i went to another dealership, busam nissan, 1501 east kemper road cincinnati, oh45246 (513) 771-8100.the 6th unit they installed lasted only about 2 weeks before jamming early this year.they then confirmed the failure and the dealerships service manager said they would get with the factory before simply putting in yet another warehouse-stocked "current-design" belt retractor that would likely have the same failure as all the others.after several months i checked in to ask what happened to the ordered part.they said the factory had yet to respond with a better/permanent solution.i said for now i'd rather go ahead and get another warehouse-stocked "current-design" one re-installed than continue to open-ended waiting with no working belt at all.and i'd keep coming back for repairs to get the factory's attention since it costs them each time a dealership gets reimbursed.at present i'm awaiting that warehouse-stocked "current-design" replacement unit to arrive.the service manager at busam nissan tentatively agreed with me that it might be that the lubricants have dried out, but that he could not "experiment" with it, such as gently warming up a unit in an oven to see if it would possibly help any internal lubricants re-distribute and allow the mechanism to properly release.he said that his or my doing so would end any free factory replacement possibilities and fixes.again, i doubt i'm the only one with this problem if this unit is used in other nissan models as well.

Consumer stated the front lap belt was broken, consumer notified the dealer and was informed the parts were on back order.

Failure of the passenger side seat belt, the seat belt is torn/cut.

(this is my second complaint lodged on this site regarding the same issue.see my earlier complaint for additional details on the possible causes.)this is the fifth/5th time the front-passenger-side lap belt retractor (mounted at the bottom of the door post / body frame) has jammed over the last 5-6 years or so. The replaced part is working for shorter and shorter periods before another failure.could this be due to aging of the stock of replacement parts?see nissan dealers records for exact dates: falhaber nissan, inc. 8680 colerain ave. Cincinnati (grosbeck), oh 45251 (513) 385-1400 (sales, service, body shop).it will not extend more than about 8-12 inches before the ratchet mechanism "catches" and prevents the seat belt from reaching over to the buckle by the center console.on the surface there seems to be nothing unusual about the installation -- the unit is bolted in, and the belt simply feeds through a slot in the trim plastic.in frustration i discovered i was able to get it to extend a few times more by very rapidly snatching the belt until it would catch, i suppose simulating the deceleration of the vehicle during an accident (and the acceleration of the spring winding mechanism trying to restrain a "body" from flying through the windshield).then after retracting fully the belt would then extend fully for a one-time use, but only to seize up again after retracting.but this worked for only a very brief period (couple of days) then even that would not work.from my own experience i suspect this problem is more prevalent than the few records on this web site would indicate.i suspect the engineers at the factory are not getting the feedback they need to correct the problem from the dealerships that (i presume) are reimbursed by nissan for repeatedly performing this free-to-the-consumer service.

The driver's side first row passenger seat belt does not retract back into the retractor at all times.

While traveling on a family trip from clearwater, fl.to boone nc, i noticed a scraping sound from the right front wheel as i slowed to a stop.iinvestigated and could not find anything. I resumed my trip and as i was accelerating to highway speed a knocking sound started and it appeared to be coming from the right front wheel. I pulled off at the next exit and agin investigated.i checked the underside of the vehicle and the engine compartment, finding nothing.i looked around and noticed that there was a ford/lincoln/ mercury dealer closeby.i went there and asked if there was someone that could take a look at the car for me as i was concerned about the loud noises coming from the right front end.the service rep took a look at it and found that the wheel cover had several broken retainers and that it might be causing the noise.he switched the front wheel cover with the rear and asked me to drive around and see if the noise was still there. I drove around and heard the noise again. I returned and asked the service guy to ride with me so that he could hear what i heard.he did and announced that it might be a bad cv joint. He referred me to another repair facility down the street.i drove there and had them look at it. They determined that the wheel had two cracks which was allowing the wheel to fles thus creting the noise i heard. He also commented that he and never seen a steel wheel crack like mine.he welded the cracks internally and externally and installed it on the right rear position.
