2003 nissan pathfinder. Consumer writes in regards to airbag recall repair. *tgwthe dealer informed the consumer, they could not perform the recall, because the air bags were not original from the factory. Recall # 14v361000.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the driver side tire blew out causing the vehicle to crash into a barrier on the freeway and the air bags failed to deploy. The contact suffered from back pain, numbness in the arm and hand which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The contact received a notification for recall nhtsa campaign number: 14v361000 (air bag). The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 78,558.
Air bag liht is on
"takata recall'the southern districtcourt florida of united states informed methat my truck had a safety recall.i wasalso toldby nissan dealership to bring my truckfor repair. In december 06, 2017, i went to thedealer got it fix after a long 9 hres wait.
Takata recallhello, i received a safety recall letter from nissan to have my airbags inspected. I went in and left with no issues and no repair was done, just an inspection. Two months later the airbag light started blinking. I called them and asked that they fix it. They said it will cost me $150 to diagnose the problem. I stated that they caused the problem during their inspection as it was working just fine until then. They refused to fix the problem the created. This is obviously a scam to get more money out of consumers for an unnecessary repair. What can i do to get them to fix the problem for free? i have been driving the vehicle around for two years with the issue. I have contacted the dealer multiple times, complained and now that my son is to drive the vehicle i need this addressed and you are my last effort.thanks[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2003 nissan pathfinder. Consumer writes in regards to airbag recall. *asthe consumer received a notification pertaining to the airbag recall, but was informed the vin was not included in the recall. The consumer requested an investigation to confirm whether not the vin was included. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified.
My nissan pathfinders air bag dash light is flashing. I have had it reset and it starts flashing again after a few hours of operation.
Vehicle was involved in a front end collision at 35mph hitting the rear of a stopped car due to traffic on the sr125 freeway in san diego county.the front end crumpled but the driver's airbag failed to deploy.hood, bumper, grill, quarter panels all crushed, but airbag failed to deploy.question whether the inflator for the airbag has an issue as these airbags/inflators are part of the takata recall.
Takata recall
Consumer's vehicle hit a tree head on while driving at 30 mph. Upon impact, none of the frontal air bags deployed.driver sustained seat belt bruises, andhead hit the steering wheel.
Both frontal airbags deployed inadvertently while driving at about 30 mph.airbag obstructed driver's view of the road, startled the driver and caused loss control of the vehicle which subsequently crashed into a parked car and utility pole.
The vehicle anti-theft system with the horn and lights go off unexpectedly about 10 minutes or more after the car is parked after it is being locked manually and/or via the remote. My local nissan dealership could not duplicate the problem and therefore, unwilling to fix the glitch. This problem occurs rather sporadically but frequent enough that it has become an annoyance. Please take a notice of this issue and let me know what can be done. Thank you.
2003 nissan pathfinder gas gauge is inaccurate to level indicated.on empty indicates full tank.once filled it will remain accurate until 1/2 empty then begins to change levels each time vehicle is started.at times it reads full, other times 1/2 full and then jumping to full.mechanic replaced fuel sender unit with nissan parts from dealership.problem remains.presenting a po462 code both before and after replacing of float and sender unit.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. While driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle started to hesitate and skip.the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed that it needed a fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired, but the remedy did not resolve the failure. The failure continued intermittently. The vehicle was returned to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel gauge failed and needed to be replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.
The body is rusting , my gas gauge is not accurate, suspension is falling away from the truck. I loved this truck and have had since 2008 but now i am in fear to drive it. I see numerous complaints for these issues but the mechanics just say it's normal wear and tear. I only drive 5 -10 minutes to work and home. *(
Engine exhaust system is rusted through between the resonator and muffler.the flange connecting the 2 exhaust components is completely rusted.i have researched this problem and the oem exhaust components where made of stainless steel.however, the flanges and connectors to the whole exhaust system where designed with steel components.
Driving home from work on freeway with 1/4 tank of fuel - engine stalled in fast lane and would not restart.i was stuck in the traffic lane for 40 mins until the state police had a tow truck tow me away.turns out, the fuel gauge was inaccurate because my tank was empty.my gauge goes above the f when i fill up and it is empty at just above a the 1/4 mark.very dangerous situation and i could have been killed over a faulty gas gauge that seems to be a big problem after seeing all of the complaints on the internet.when the gauge goes bad - the low fuel warning light does not come on so i was completely caught off guard.i was a sitting duck on the freeway with cars slamming on their brakes to avoid hitting me even with my hazard lights on. Please help.
The contact stated that both mufflers were rusted out. While the vehicle was in reverse, the rear muffler and rear tail pipe were detached due to the rust. In addition, fluid was leaking from the front passenger side of the vehicle to the rear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
We were driving our pathfinder home in the winter the ecsessive amount of salt on the road caused our main water flow to corrode and stall the engine and caused the radiators thermostat to break and the car overheated.
Emissions code for a loose gas cap continually went off. Took it to a different dealer after seeing selling dealer 3 times there is a cracked vent control valve causing a vapor leak.
The passenger side exhaust system separated (rusted completely through) at the muffler assembly.this will be the 3rd exhaust system on the car. The first one was replaced while under warrantee because of a co2 canister failure.
I have a 2003 nissan pathfinder. It has a cracked catalytic converter. It has less than 45,000 miles . Nissan will not comply to the 8/80 law.
2003 nissan pathfinder exhaust system disintegrated at connection point (vehicle has 85,000 mi.).have had the dealership advise and cost will be $1200.00 to fix.have searched on-line and found problem to be widespread with 2002-2003 pathfinders.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder.the contact stated that the resignator, which quiets the engine and is located directly in front of the muffler, is coming apart.in addition, fumes were noticed coming out of the exhaust.the dealer stated that they have a replacement kit to repair the issue, but the contact does not want the kit.he would like the failure to be repaired instead.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 73,000.
Exhaust tubes on 2003 nissan pathfinder cracked before reached the 24,000 warranty expiration.nissan "patched" tubes rather than replaced them.the patch failed this year and i am fighting with them because they should have used new parts in the first place.i can not tell if this is endangering the environment, however, i know that many pathfinder owners are experiencing early failure of the exhaust system and nissan is not owning up to their design defect.
The car lost power and then there was high heat from under the car followed by a small explosion when two catalytic converts burst side seams and began to leak.bennett nissan in wilton connecticut refused to replace the catalytic converts on both sides of the exhaust system.they claim that these are resonators and not covered under the eight year or 80,000 warranty.they also claim that if there is no "check engine light" that they are not part of the epa system.they offer a "fix" that seals the defect of this equipment and charge about $250.replacement with new parts costs about $1500.i think:1) this causes a dangerous situation and is directly related to the epa system; 2) there is danger from fire or excessive exhaust fumes in the car.the dealer and nissan are obviously working to concert to avoid the repair under warranty and pushing the expensive repair to the consumer after they have no they beyond the 8/80000 mile coverage.this is wrong.this issue is on a 2003 pathfinder le that i have owned since it was new.
Maine vehicle safety inspection revealed crack along welded seam of exhaust resonator pipe assembly.vehicle had approximately 37,400 miles just out of basic warranty.dealer would not consider part failure under emissions warranty, but quoted repairs of nearly $200 or purchase of kit consisting of 4 metal bars, 4 band clamps and 1-2 oz of sealant for $70.nissan has issued service bulletin rtb04-094 ? repair of exhaust leak/noise at front tube implying they have had an on-going problem in this area.local dealer readily acknowledged multiple instances of this problem appearing locally.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder.the contact noticed an exhaust leak coming from the vehicle.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that they would use a repair kit to remedy the failure.she was unsure if the vehicle would pass the safety inspection and stated that since there is an open tsb (nhtsa item number 10010378) for this failure, there should be a recall as well.the current and failure mileages were 31,472.
1.) there were no specific events that led to the failure of my vehicle part. 2.) my 2003 nissan pathfinder with 50k miles on it has a cracked resonator pipe which are the front pipes that attach in to the catalytic converted. I have researched this problem online and there are over 200 people on this website:http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/nissan/ttg7l43u0aktkacbf that have the same problem that i do. This is a known issue across the entire country and needs to be addressed due to safety and emission issues.3.) i patched the cracked pipe but the patch has since failed. I am looking at $1200 to put new exhaust pipes on a vehicle with 50k miles. Nissan will not cover this under the 8/80 law due to it not specifically listing the resonator pipes as part of the catalytic converter.
I have a 2003 nissan pathfinder with cracked exhaust pipes.these pipes are cracking on 02-04 pathfinders, and this is a chronic problem.nissan provides (for $200 per side) a patch that includes a bracket filled with foam and some hose clamps.this patch lasted about a week before the problem occurred again.nissan will re-patch for another $400, or replace the parts (presumably with more defective parts) for upwards of $1500.please see the following link for a discussion among the dozens of owners with this problem : http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/nissan/ttg7l43u0aktkacbf.
2003 nissan pathfinder catalytic converter failed at side seams and was patched once per nissan official recommendation.original patch has worn out and side seams are beginning to fail again.nissan is refusing to cover the catalytic converter to 8 year/80000 mile warranty.
2003 nissan pathfinder.cracked resonators/catalytic converters under vehicle allowing exhaust gas to enter vehicle.this is a very common problem with 2002/2003 pathfinder owners and nissan refuses to take action to correct this dangerous issue. No payment assistance has been offered by nissan to help with the cost of the necessary repairs.
Dt: the contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The vehicle has an exhaust leak which was discovered because the contact became a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning. She took the vehicle ito dealer for an oil change and had them check the exhaust system. They told her that there was a leak.the dealership showed herthe leak. It was about four inches long. The leak was discovered on the driver's side of the vehicle. There was a technical service bulletin ,nhtsa item10010378/service bulletin04092; date of bulletin 9/1/2004for this problem, but she was never notified because it was not a recall. She purchased a carbon monoxide detector, and it was letting her know that there was carbon monoxide in the vehicle while she was on her way to the dealership. The dealership told her they corrected theexhaust problemfree of charge. The dealershipshow the contact that there was a 2001 nissan pathfinder that was in for service for the same problem. This problem became more intense since april2005. The service invoice from the dealership stated: concern when in neutral and cold there is a ticking noise in left side of the engine, and there is a carbon monoxide smell in the vehicle, carbon monoxide found leak at heater pipe. The contact stated she claimed symptoms of carbon monoxide but she could not smell it because carbon monoxide is odorless so that statement in the service invoice was incorrect.
2003 nissan pathfinder with exhaust leak. Consumer states that technician stated the problem was a cracked catalytic converter. Manufacturer stated the defected part was resonators not catalytic converters and was not covered under warranty.
Dt: about three weeks ago, the consumer noticed the exhaust tubes split. The consumer noticed this when he started the vehicle in the garage. There was noise coming from the exhaust tubes. The owner noticed the vehicle was leaking exhaust fumes. Then the vehicle was taken to the dealership and they repaired it. There were no warning lights on in the vehicle prior to this occurrence. The vehicle was regularly serviced. The owner has contacted the manufacturer, who stated they would call him back in 24 hours. The dealer did not replace the exhaust tubes, they just patched them. The consumer says there must be a defect where heat causes problems in the exhaust.
My husband and i purchased a new 2003 nissan pathfinder se in july 03. In 2007, the "check engine light" came on. We took it to a dealer, who informed us that we needed to have the entire exhaust system replaced due to a crack in the pipe and the 02 sensor was making the light come on.they never informed us of a patch kit available. We did have the entire exhaust system replaced in 2008.we later came to find out this problem is occurring for many others with the same vehicle. We are doubly concerned about the affect that this has had on my 3 year old's asthma and respiratory issues (considering the emissions issues and what i am hearing from other's who's small children have similar issues and who also have this issue with their 03 pathfinder).i would hope that a recall is required and that those of us affected will be duly compensated for nissan's safety failure.
September 2007- went to repair shop for oil change, was made aware of cracked catalytic converternovember 2007- rear exhaust pipe fell offjanuary 2008- went to muffler shop, was told that 2 catalytic converters and entire exhaust pipe need replacing.may 2008- went to nissan dealer, was told that it is not my catalytic converters, but my "down pipes" that have severe cracks in them. Quoted over $600 for repair kit, as this is something that they claim to have seen often enough to create a patch kit for. Quoted $1300 for new parts. Severe exhaust in the vehicle passenger compartment, both with windows opened and closed. Vehicle only has 71,000 miles on it, and the catalytic converters, which 2 other repair shop have identified as the problem, are covered by warranty, but the down pipes, which only nissan claims to be the problem, are not. This is now a very expensive safety issue, as the exhaust is unbearable.
Faulty exhaust resonators from manufacturer resulting in serious exhaust emission leaks directly under cabin of vehicle in driver and front passenger positions.
I own a 2003 nissan pathfinder le. Took it to a nissan dealer and they said the passenger side resonator was leaking out of the outboard seam. The driver side resonator was leaking out of both the outboard and inboard seam. The exhaust could be very easily felt when the engine was running and there is exhaust smell in the cabin. The muffler was freely swinging. I had to replace the muffler. The resonators should be replaced by nissan as many people are having the same problem. I hope you can do something or that a class action lawsuit is filed.
2003 nissan pathfinder with exhaust leak. Consumer states that technician stated the problem was a cracked catalytic converter. Manufacturer stated the defected part was resonators not catalytic converters and was not covered under warranty.
My aaa light duty mechanic diagnosed my 2003 nissan pathfinder with a cracked catalytic converter.he told me it should be covered under warranty and under 8 years, 80,000 miles emissions law.i took the car in and asked, they told me it wasn't because it was actually the tubes and charged me $700 not including labor to replace.seems like the tubes should be covered under the same act since the cat converter can't function properly without the proper tubing.i think this dealership failed to comply with the warranty agreement and from the overwhelming number of similar complaints i've found, i believe nissan has shown no accountability to fix the issue.
Cataylitc converter cracked, six to eight inches along welded seem with less than 50k miles. Two seperate nissan dealers have recommended repairing the catalytic converter, with part #20711-5w90a, a band and sealant kit,at customer's expense, denying the defect in workmanship is covered under the federal emissions 8/80 warranty. Both dealers state that the crack does not effect emissions.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder.the contact heard a loud sound coming from underneath the front driver side of the vehicle.the sound was apparent from the exhaust pipes, especially when the accelerator pedal was depressed.she took the vehicle to the nissan dealer and they stated that the resonator and catalytic converter caused the vehicle to leak exhaust fumes.the dealer offered to repair the vehicle, for a service charge, using a repair kit.the vehicle has not been repaired because it was not covered under warranty.the contact has not yet notified the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 47,269 and current mileage wa 54,400.
I took my 2003 pathfinder in for an unrelated matter and the service department diagnosed the cracked exhaust pipes at the front of the vehicle. I had never heard of this problem and it seems to me that any exhaust system should last at least four years on a normally used vehicle. I have 84,000 miles on mine so i guess it stands outside of any mandated warranties, but i do have a nissan gold plus warranty which should cover everything up to 100k miles. The service department said no and wanted $246 for the patch. Do i have any other recourse? i live in virginia and the service manager said my vehicle wouldn't pass the next inspection without the patch.i noticed in an on line forum that this is actually a very wide spread problem with the 2002-03 nissan pathfinders.doesn't this manufacturers defect warrant a health hazard that should be reconciled by the company?couldn't the cracks subject passengers to lethal exposure to carbon monoxide gases?since it affects so many consumers, doesn't the problem pose a public health risk?
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder.the contact stated that the vehicle was taken for routine maintenance when the dealer advised that there was a fracture in the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 175,000.the vin was unavailable.
Takata recallwhen driving on highways the back-end sways off and on which can cause you to lose control. The head lights don't appear to shine bright enough. Abs light remains on even after replacing the sensors.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel level gauge was providing inaccurate gasoline fuel level readings. The fuel level gauge would indicate that the fuel tank was half full when there was no gasoline in the vehicle. The contact had experienced several incidents in which the vehicle stalled due to lack of gasoline in the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection however, the dealer was unable to locate a fuel leak. The flute was replaced on the fuel tank as a precaution but no avail. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was 126,764.
I noticed my fuel gauge on my 2003 nissan pathfinder se did not change even though i had driven more than 200 miles on a tank of gasoline.at approximately that same time, the service engine soon light came on.when we had the code checked it came back fuel level sensor.in researching this issue on line i find that a large number of nissan owners have had the very same problem and it is a costly repair as the gas tank needs to be removed in order to replace the senor.nissan has issued a recall for certain years, but not currently the 2003.this problem could present serious issues for drivers if they depend on their fuel gauge to tell them if they have fuel.isn't that what the gauge is for?
Gas tank failure due to corrosion. After smelling a strong odor of gasoline i brought my 2003 nissan pathfinder to the dealer to have it checked, they discovered that the gas tank had rusted at the top of the tank underneath the rear seat allowing gasoline vapors to enter the interior as well as the exterior of the vehicle creating a potentially deadly situation. I was informed by the dealer that the gas tanks were on a national back order as none are available.
This is my second and a follow-up complaint to this website.vehicle dies running after engine reaches normal temp and so far only in freezing outside temps.restarts, dies, restarts, dies, etc.dealer unable to diagnose.have recently received vehicle back from dealer with a fuel pump relay replacement.on the very first cold day (15 degrees) since it was returned, i had a repeat episode of my prior complaint.vehicle towed to dealer for the fourth time.
Vehicle dies running without warning at any speed after the engine has reached normal running temp.so far only occurs in below 32 degree outside temps.usually restarts (once didn't at all) continues to die after about 1/10 of a mile 2 or 3 times and most of the time i caninch my way home.problem has not been diagnosed by dealer because they cannot duplicate it.they have so far replaced the throttle control sensor and switch and have a fuel pump relay on order based on a bulletin that they admit doesn't match my symptoms.i have contacted nissan consumer affairs without much satisfaction and consider the vehicle dangerous to drive.it has been at the dealer more than 30 days since dec. 2003 and is currently there for 2 weeks.below is current incident date. Fyi since this problem is undiagnosed and i was required to choose a component to submit complaint form, i picked fuel delivery based on latest parts order.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel pump failed and prevented the contact from seeing the fuel gauge. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.
Strong smell of gasoline after filling tank.a leak from fuel filler neck was the issue.repair was made, but it was over $400.saw 2 other complains on nhtsa #s 10781139 and 10703027.there was a recall for this issue on pathfinders through 2001.perhaps it is time this be investigated on 2003s as well.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, it started to leak fuel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Common complaint from what i am reading.03 nissan pathfinder with 82k miles, with a malfunctioning fuel gauge.i just bought this vehicle from a used car dealership and he is going to take a look, but with the amount of issues i am reading about, and that nissan recalled the 06 pathfinder with a similar issue, its just irritating this is going unrecognized by nissan.gauge reads just over half a tank always and since i am new to the car i am really guessing on mileage per tank, using the trip mileage to figure what i have left.basically i have been topping off every other day.is it a gummed up tank and the float sticking?a bad gauge, a bad fuel sending unit?a short between the gauge and sending unit? we shall see.and i just bought this less than a week ago, can i hold the used car dealer responsible for it?
2003 nissan pathfinder gas gauge is inaccurate to level indicated. On empty indicates full tank. Once filled it will remain accurate until 1/2 empty then begins to change levels each time vehicle is started. At times it reads full, other times 1/2 full and then jumping to full. No error code.
Fuel gauge does not work properly -- this has been an issue for 2 years now.when i fill it up, it shows as full, but will never go lower than just over 1/2 tank of gas.i have to reset and watch my mileage every time i fill up the tank, and make sure i refill it every 225 miles, to ensure i don't run out of fuel.my mechanic has done everything he can think of to fix the problem, but so far nothing has worked. I noticed i am not the only one to file a complaint about this issue.
Fuel gauge is not reading correctly repeatedly have to top off my tank that costs me more money than it should to get back and forth to work because i ran out of gas and it costed me $200 to figure out that i need something done about the gas gauge there's so many complaints about this why has it nissan done something about it they should not be able to just let this problem go on and stick the customers that pay thousands of dollars for the vehicles. I was going down the highway after being at the hospital all night with my mother-in-law and me and my wife had to walk several miles just to get cell service to get picked up and my car towed.
Fuel gauge indicated fuel tank was at least half full. Vehicle did not start because it was out of fuel.mechanic replaced many things until it was discovered car was out of fuel. Cost me close to $1,000.car could have run out of fuel on a highway while in the fast lane.many owners have reported this problem on the internet.this is a safety issue.i am 74 years old and never had failed fuel gauge.i am told the whole instrument cluster needs to be replaced.no warning was ever provided by nissan that this could happen.how many of their vehicles have this problem.
The metal on the filler neck on the gas tank has corroded to a hole big enough that when the vehicle is fueled gasoline spills out of the hole onto the back tire and there is a strong smell of gasoline fumes in the cabin.
Car repeatedly demonstrates 1/2to 1/4 tank of gas butis empty causing user to run out of gas while driving.no fuel leak, mechanics continues to state they find no problem.
Everytime i fill my gas tank, the gas filler neck leaks, from what i can tell it is caused by corrosion. I;ve contacted mfctr. Nissan/manufacturer do not have any open recall campaign for the year of my vehicle, they do have an existing recall same issue/gas filler neck leaking on model and year of 1997 thru 2001
The gas gauge stopped working a few months ago. Had an appointment to have the fuel sensor replaced. The fuel sensor is fine. The mechanic said it was most likely the gauge. In researching over the past several months, this appears to be a huge problem with the 2003 pathfinder. This should be recalled. I'm not sure why it it isn't since it is a wide spread issue.
2003 nissan pathfinder automatic transmission does not shift properly. It jerks into gear or drags before shifting. Dealer has been non-responsive and has claimed no existence of service bulletins.
While traveling at a speed of less than 30 mph in the left turn lane i heard a loud grinding noise that felt like the gears stuck. The car then suddenly and without warning, revved up,speed forward with the steering wheel locked to the right. The steering and brakes were non responsive, and i had no control. My car, at a high rate of speed, crossed three additional lanes striking a telephone pole(actually split the pole in 2 places), transformer, fire hydrant, and finally rolling down a hill where it came to rest in a parking lot. There was fire from the power lines touchin and water gushing from the fire hydrant at the same time. My father was two cars ahead of me and witnessed the entire accident. We had just left from getting the annual emissions checked on our vehicles and had traveled less than a mile towards home, when the accident occurred. I was told by the paramedics that they never saw anyone walk away from an accident this severe. I sufferedwhiplash, minor cuts and a 2nd degree concussion but this malfunction could have resulted in the death of me or someone else.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed and attempting to stop, the brakes hesitated to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician replaced the brakes and informed the contact that the strut housing panel was cracked. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer. The technician informed the contact that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 11v244000 (steering, suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.
The contact owns a 2003 nissan pathfinder. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and failed to respond. The contact mentioned that the emergency brake was engaged to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.
While driving 2003 nissan pathfinder i hit pothole on a city street, heard loud bang, shortly after completely lost all braking abilities, upon bringing my vehicle home and examining i notice the right front strut housing had separated from frame snapping the brake line on the right front. Appears to be the same corrosion issue as the recall on the left front strut housing.
Consumer took vehicle todealer five times for brake problems. When depressing the brake pedalvehicle pulsated and made a rubbing noise.dealer rotated and replaced the rotors, abs actuator, and the whole braking system.
There was a recall on the driver side strut tower due to server rusting. The dealership repaired that area.i was hearing a noise from the front right passenger side and found out that the rust had damage to that strut tower. My abs and brake lights finally come on and i had s lost of brake fluid. The strut tower colapse severing the right front brake line. The dealer inspected it and said that they would not repair this.i,m not sure why the left front strut tower would be covered and the right front in not.i had leased this vehical and when the lease expired we purchased the car outright. We heard about the recall when i had one remaining payment on the car. Now with the car paid in full it is no longer safe to drive.
Problems with brake system.steering wheel shakes when brakes are applied.*mr. When the brakes engaged, the vehicle vibratedand pulsated at speeds above 20 mph. The rotors were turned twice, however the problem continued.ph
Vehicle lunges forward when stepping on brakes, sometimes, like stepping on gas pedal. Very dangerous.
2003 pathfinder with only 14,000 miles.bought new.front brake judder leading to steering wheel vibration.
We bought a 2003 nissan pathfinder in apr 2003. The pathfinder's brake system has been soft. When i pressed the brake pedal, it didn't engage until it went about half way to the floor. We heard the noise & had brake problem in the early dec 2003. We took it to a nissan dealer to check it out. They said they didn't hear any noise & no problem found, but said the noise must have been from the tires, therefore, we needed 2 new tires & an alignment. When we're picking up the vehicle(after spending more than $300 for 2 new tires & the alignment), one of the tech's came into the office & told the service advisor that he'd just heard the noise that we talked about. The advisor told us to take it home & watch it for a few days. That same afternoon, we heard it again, & took it back to dealer the next day. I asked them to check everything again. When we pick up the vehicle, advisor still said no problem & assured us that it's safe to drive. Two weeks later, we took it in for an oil change, & told them we still had problem, advisor told us needed to set appointment.but it's a little bit too late. A week later, i got an accident because of the brake failure.on jan 25, 2004, i was going slowly (the traffic was moving slowly), & had plenty of distance between my car & the truck in front of me. When the truck ahead of me braked, i also attempted to brake but the vehicle failed to brake, i hit the truck & sustained damage to the front end of the pathfinder ( luckily, the airbag didn't explode), & the truck was ok.we contacted nissan motor company immediately after the accident, they told us would inspect the vehicle while it's at the body shop but didn't do it until 2 months later after we took it home. As of today, we've not heard anything from them yet. We want them to repurchase the pathfinder because i have no faith in it & i'm afraid to drive it.
Vehicle speed control.when the vehicle was new my wife and i were both having problems of stepping on the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time.i asked the nisson dealer in my area to fix the brake pedal adjustment because the pedal depressed so far that it would be at or below the accelerator pedal's level.at first they declined.after i told them that there was an adjustment on the brake pedal travel and that it was a "safety issue", the nisson dealer fixed it.we have not had a problem since.this problem has shown up in several of the 2003 pathfinder complaints.i hope this report will save someone from an accident.
Unintended acceleration at red light and in parking lot. Low brake pedal when applied, foot hits gas pedal while braking. This is a verydangerous problem that other pathfinder owners reported. *nlm

But lets up when you let up off the gas? to me this a major safety issue! that many have had this problem, that i have found on on line forums.. Why hasn't nissan recalled this issue?

2003 nissan pathfinder. Consumer states problem with the steering wheel column *tgwthe consumer stated in the spring of 2009, she began having problems with the steering column making noises. The mechanic performed a wheel alignment, in addition to other work totaling over $660. However, she continued to experience steering problems.the consumer returned to the dealer where they replaced the brakes, but the steering column still was not feeling right. Finally, the consumer went to another establishment who was able to ascertain and fix the problem. The repair shop found the rack and pinion very tight and adjusted the steering gear. The consumer stated since nissan only sent her an interim notice, she did not know she should have taken the vehicle to the dealer for a free service, nor did she know to inform the mechanic about the strut tower housing damage to the steering column.
The passenger side exhaust system separated (rusted completely through) at the muffler assembly.this will be the 3rd exhaust system on the car. The first one was replaced while under warrantee because of a co2 canister failure.
I was driving about 30 miles per hour when the rear bumper fell off. After further inspection, i notice the frames were almost completely rusted away and everything that is connected to it is in danger of falling off as well including the front bumper that is about to fall off at anytime.i am not a mechanic, but i am sure it is not at all safe driving this vehicle.every time i get behind the wheel, i fear something terrible is about to happen.

The floorboards on the drivers side have standing water.when it rains the car floods.when driving the vehicle when the vehicle stops there is water that drips on the drivers left foot.i have brought it to the local dealer twice and they admit both times there is standing water but do not fix it.

Recently discovered a serious problem that frequently shows itself when driving at higher speeds (over 45)and one hits a bump or small pot hole the vehicle suddenly develops an extreme wobble making it very hard to control. I suddenly was in an adjacent lane and was almost hit. Doing some research on the internet it seems to be a common problem and even has been given a name. It's referred to as the death wobble. If one quickly slow down to wobble will go away. I was told by several mechanics don't drive on the highway you'll stand a good chance of flipping the vehicle.it seems the problem is failed bushings in rear control arms. Unfortunately when the problem shows when the car becomes difficult and dangerous to control. Repairs are costly and often misdiagnosed. It appears nissan is aware but no safety warning or recall has been issued.there are numerous discussions on the web describing this issue as on going with many model years on pathfinders and some infinity models
Open nissan recall r1107 on this vehicle for steering and strut housing. There are visible defects relating to this recall on my vehicle. 1st contact nissan 4/9/13. I live approx 700 miles from any dealership with no option of road system to reach dealership. I would need to ship vehicle or take ferry to major road system then drive. We have one state highway on our island. I bought this vehicle locally. This vehicle is not safe let alone drive at highway speeds to reach a dealership. At first i was basically told too bad.i asked if they were telling me i had to drive a dangerous vehicle because i lived in rural america? i was then transferred to dealership in anchorage, ak.we arranged for me to take vehicle to a mechanic locally to take detailed photos to forward to dealership to determine if vehicle was a candidate for repair or if damage was so advanced as to junk vehicle. There was back and forth contact by phone and e-mail with dealership. I was asked to provide shipping costs and later provided details on steps and costs to have the vehicle wrecked here in town. Sometime toward end of june 2013 i stopped getting updates. Nissan corp issued a 2nd case number on 7/15 they have called every few days to say no news.7/26/13 i got a call saying decision is i need to bring dealership. They are to call back 7/29 to tell me if i can get that in writing. Nissan has been provided 3 sets of photos that clearly show through holes in strut housing. This car is not fit to drive the distances or speeds they are asking. Nissan has allowed this vehicle stay on the roads since april even after they were provided with evidence that car is compromised and dangerous. Nissan corp. Is allowing known dangerous vehicles to remain on roads in rural areas placing people like me in danger because it is cost and time prohibitive for owners like me to get to a dealership. This is wrong.

To whom it may concern:nissan is under a federal mandate to warranty the catalytic converter on my vehicle, 2003 nissan pathfinder, for 8 years or 80,000 miles.my truck currently (as of today) has under 39,000 miles.i did not find out until after the work had been completed that it should have been covered by nissan. I am sure it has to do with the emissions and i am sure people would be very interested to know that nissan is looking for any way they can get out of covering the defective parts that the government has required them to cover.i then contacted nissan directly.after speaking with a man in india,i was sent to gloria in the us. My file number was 5793503. I was then contacted by ilysa who statedit is our policy to only warranty service done at a nissan dealership.which makes sense. It would be difficult to warranty any service done at another shop.i am not asking them to cover the service. Only the part that was put on this truck originally in a nissan plant is what the government has mandated that they cover.after getting no where with ilysa @ x57743i requested that my concern be passed to her supervisor.i received a very short phone call from kim(615.725.7761) who also said that is our policy.at this pointi have had 2 people tell me they will not follow the federal mandate of covering this part.after getting nowhere with kim i asked to be put in touch with her supervisor.she absolutely refused and she was very animate in telling me she would not be escalating my issue.i told her that i,as a consumer and customer, was requesting to speak to a supervisor and she told meand i quote it doesnt matter what you want. And again i quote i dont care if you are a client. After exchanging some frustration and words she said i will not escalate this call and further and hung up on me.i have since heard from ilysa at nissan (x57743) on september 6, 2007 and she reiterated that they will do absolutely nothing.

I was sent to post cards at different times to fix the recall one was after thanksgiving about the 28th of november 2018 i went out there they failed to fix the problem they didn't have the parts or the mechanic wasn't available so they sent another postcard saying call back the parts are available now i go there which today december 23rd and she's telling me there's no mechanic people have played games with me i work i don't have time to keep running back and forth if they're not going to fix the car please send me to a nissan that will fix this recall problem if i get in an accident and something happens to me i'm going to sue major big.
The vehicle experienced sudden acceleration.
I noticed after i had stopped car and turned it off that i was not as close to curb as i wanted to be.i restarted vehicle and pulled forward appriximately 1 - 1 1/2 car lengths.put vehicle into reverse to slowly back up when the car suddenly and unexpectedly began to rev at an exceeding high rpm rate and rapidly accelerated.attempt to break and stop the vehicle was futile resulting in my vehicle hitting the front of the vehicle that was parked behind me.other vehicle was unoccupied.i do not trust this vehicle because of this erratic behavior.i drove it home carefully and then had it towed to dealer where it was purchased at the end of april 2003.according to service dept. At dealer, they checked for trouble codes and no codes are stored.they road tested vehicle and vehicle is operating normal.they called nissan tech line and there is no record of incidents like this.printout of test indicates "no dtc detected.further testing may be required.dealer will not do additional testing - this will require nissan input. Nissan customer service rep denies any knowledge of other reported instances of rapid acceleration in 2003 pathfinders.i want to get rid of this vehicle even though it only has 2000 miles on it.if i get another vehicle, however, this does not solve the problem since another operator may experience same situation with this vehicle resulting in injury or death.

Since the very first day of purchasing the vehicle, there was an intermittent scrapping noise that could be heard when the vehicle was driven at idle speed, the noise disappeared when gentle pressure was applied to the brake and the noise would come back again after the brake was released.the dealer did admit that they heard problem, but was unable to fix it.the vehicle was returned to the consumer, however while driving, the consumer heard a loud noise followed by a horrible and scrapping soundwhen suddenly the consumer lost complete control of the vehicle, the consumer could still hear the metal sounds coming from the right front wheel. When the consumer got out of the vehicle,he saw that the wheel was not aligned. It was determined that 4 of the 6 studs were missing.
