I'm second owner and have no assurance that my airbags are orriginal!how do i know that a tekata airbag has not been put into my car??we don't know.therefore, an inspection of airbags should be made!

My wife was traveling in our 2001 model pathfinder suv along the 57 state freeway and the vehicle rolled over on it's side twice after she attempted to erge back to her traveling lane. She was two feet away from a steephighway embankment when the vehicle rolled back on its' wheels. She sustained injuries to her arm, head, face, and leg. The car is a totaloss as assessed by the california highway patrol. I have a picture of the wrecked car and will like to forward it to you. We had reported to nissan dealership - douglas nissan about screeching noises from the front passenger side wheel area twice before this accident and the dealership state they were not able to find any causes for the problem.since this accident i had contacted nissan motor northe america consumer affair to report this accident and claim for loss of the vehicle due to product defect on december 21, 2004 and have not hear back from nissan regarding any resolution.

Excessive vibration at 60 to 70 mph taken suv to the dealer three times and found out that tires are defective and have excessive radial force measurments and that they are unsafe to drive with aand may cause an acedent.dealer inspected the car and muitl times balance the wheel/tire using radial force balancing but unable to get rid of excessive vibration. Dealer gave me back suv as is (knowing it is unsafe to drive) and ordered 4 new tires of the same brand which took a week to recieve. I requested to replace tire with michiline ltx but dealer and nissan refused to do so. I requested a safety and responsibilty letter since they would not give me a choose of what brand to choose but they would not do so.dealer finally replaced tires and vibration is 90 %improved but still exists. Also i have taken my suv for a rattle in steering and the dealer found that the driver airbag was not installed properly from factory. Dealer fixed the problem and then three weeks later the same problem returned. Took suv to the dealer again and they put "tubes in the spring behind the airbag" this is to reduce rattle/vibration. Now the horn is unoperational due to this. You must put both hands on the horn/airbag and push very hard est 40ibs of force to engage the horn.this is unaccptible and unsafe to operate the vechical with out a horn.i do have a safety convern to other owner of this suv due to defective tires that can blow and casue a serous excedent. I dp hope that nhtsa take action. (dot number: en6d0800tiresize: 255/65r16)

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The contact stated that upon impact, the air bags did not deploy and the vehicle was destroyed. The contact sustained injuries to the left rotator cuff and an concussion. The manufacturer was notified and sent someone to look at the vehicle who stated that the crash was not significant enough for the air bags to deploy. The failure mileage was 170,000.

Was in head on collision at approx. 50mph in new 2001 nissan pathfinder le.vehicle had 600 miles on it and was leased.vehicle pulled in front of me on 4 lane highway,i hit it head on. Airbags did not deploy.body shop, police etc have all said that they should have deployed.radiator was crushed and bumper and grill assembly were demolished.also concern that seat belt did not tighten.have been advised by body shop who does a lot of this type work that they recommend having it tested since in their professional opinion it should have deployed.i have back injury.

Vehiclewasin a head-on collisonwitha pickup truck, andair bags did not deploy.consumer sustained some injuries.consumer was traveling at 50 mph.

Was driving 2001 nissan pathfinder involved in accident where my car t-boned another car at about 50mph, front impact on my car. No airbag deployment.

I was driving approx. 40mph when a 16 year old driver sitting the the turn lane coming from the opposite direction pulled out in front of me. I hit my brakes(about 20ft of skid marks) and pulled to the right to avoid the other car. I hit the other car in the front passenger side the went about 15 feet and hit a four foot block wall. My pathfinder followed the wall about 12 feet and came to a rest almost on its side. I had two front impacts and neither airbag opened on either impact.

In april 2019, i was driving at about 55 mph towing a small trailer in the right most lane of a 3 lane highway.as i approached a hill, the pathfinder suddenly smelled liked something was on fire and the engine stopped running.i managed to pull off the highway and coast to a stop on the shoulder.the burning smell lasted about 5 minutes, but i could not tell where the source was at the time.i ran several diagnostic tests, including ecu codes, but did not find anything indicative of a problem of this nature. In january 2020, i attempted to start the vehicle after replacing several worn out drivetrain components (clutch, engine, radiator, engine gaskets) and found that it would not start. I found a burned out fuse to the eccs2, 10 amp circuit.i replaced the fuse and immediately noticed that there was smoke coming from underneath the dashboard even though the vehicle was not on or running at the time. Again the smoke lasted several minutes.this time i was able to see smoke coming from the computer casing of the vehicle's ecu.i disconnected the battery immediately and removed the ecu from the vehicle.i discovered a burned chip inside.after several hours of research, i was able to identify the cause and learn that this happens to many other models of nissan vehicles of similar year model.the cause is always the same - the idle air control valve seals fail, then water gets inside the electric iacv motor and when the ecu tries to compensate for the iacv failure, it overloads the electrical circuit and shorts out this particular chip.some people have reported spending several thousand dollars to have nissan replace parts and repair their ecu as these vehicles are now out of warranty.

The windows on my 2001 nissan pathfinder get slower and slower until they barely work. While the car was under warranty they lubed the windows and sent me back out until it happened a few months later, again and again. Now they say they will charge me because i am out of warranty. They say there is no permanent fix for the problem. They say that the dry conditions in arizona is causing it to all pathfinders. I told them other brands of cars seem to be fine. They said they do not plan on doing anything about the problem and i will have to pay for all future lube repairs. Nissan told me they have been aware of the problem for awhile.

Cd player in 2001 nissan pathfinder will not work properly, it will only click.i have discovered from the internet numerous similar complaints about audio components.

The service engine soon' has been on and off for about 1 year on my 2001 nissan pathfinder (mileage is a little over 70,000). I take the car to a garage (delmar auto & radiator inc., 90 adams street, delmar, ny 12054, 518-439-0311) on 8/1/08 to have it diagnosed ($144.40) and the code says the oxygen sensor (p0140) needs replacement ($219.37). The work is done and after about 80 miles the service engine soon comes back on. I take the car back to the garage (8/7/08) have it diagnosed ($144.40) and the code says mass air flow signal is weak ($563.00). The work is done and after about 20 miles the service engine soon comes back on. I call the garage (8/18/08) after they return from vacation and they will take the vehicle to a nissan dealer and have the ecm reprogrammed at cost.

Nissan has a serious problem with faulty ignition coils.my car suddenly began to shake when the ignition coil failed. The online petition below shows that this is a widespread with nissan and it should be investigated.http://www.petitiononline.com/nis_ign/petition.html

All instrument gauges including speedometer, odometer, tachometer, gas gauge, engine temp gauge, 4 wheel drive indicator, and compass fail to work after driving.fialure is intermittent.service dealer has been unable to fix in under 30 days.

This vehicle was sold to me by an individual and it has so many problems it's unbelievable. Haven't been able to get it to pass emissions. Had the death wobble when i first got it. I'm extremely upset about this lemon i was. Sold. I'm a breast cancer patient and limited on income and i was really screwed over. Lost over 3000dollars over this vehicle

Consumer complained aboutstarting vehicleand intermittent stalling while driving at various speed of 0-35 mph. Vehicle hadbeen to the dealer on three separate occasions and they wereunable to duplicate the problem.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan path finder. The contact stated that the vehicle overheated while traveling 40 mph. The failure recurred on four previous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the dealer confirmed that the water control module and thermostat needed replacing. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 215,000.

Water began to leak underneath of the glove compartment and then multiple light sensors starting activating without cause.dealership stated that the evaporator was clogged with leaves, etc.however, the part was said not to need repair or replacement, but they were going to increase the size of the wholes in the evaporator, so it wouldn't clog again. Call was placed to the warranty company, and they stated it wasn't cover since it didn't need a new part, however they didn't feel the dealership should be increasing the size of the wholes if nothing needed to be replaced.car is hardly ever parked under a tree.don't understand the need to increase the size of the evaporator wholes, if there is no previously known problem that the dealership knows about.

While driving at any speed, the vehicles engine would overheat.the consumer checked the radiator to find that all of the fluids were leaking out on the ground.the consumer has had the dealer examine the vehicle on three different occasions.the dealer have replaced the radiator, thermostat and the fan clutch.

My daughter's service engine check light keeps coming on.she has pulled over at the side of the road over and over due to this since we have told her it may be unsafe to continue driving.after doing extensive research, i find that thousands of 2001 nissan pathfinders have this problem.mileage is very low when this occurs.i am taking it in again to have another "sensor" replaced but this does not seem to solve the problems and the car shakes badly.f hundred/thousands are having this problem with the 2001, why has there not been a recall?e spent 800 on tires because i was told it shook due to this, then they decided it was another sensor.

Severe oil leakage.had to replace oil cooler assembly.

Engine service light - catalytic converter. My mechanic fixed the engine sevice light being always on by bypassing something on the catalytic converter.

The entire exhaust system (from and including y-pipe and back) had to be replaced because the entire system was completely rusted out.my mechanic said it was the most rusted out system he had ever seen.i believe this was due to incorrect making of the product.this may be similar to the other recall in which the lack of properly coating the items caused premature rusting.

Well, i don't know where to start.i purchased this vehicle brand new , my check engine light keep coming on i took this vehicle at least 5 to 6 times to the dealerthey couldn't find what was wrong with it.god, i a nurse i need to get to my patientas we speakthis car is at the dealershipthey told me they cant find nothing wrong with it.isn't there a problem with the catalytic converter withthis vehicle.

My 2001 pathfinder had only 37,800 miles when the service engine light came on. My dealership says it needs both rear oxygen sensors at a cost of over $500. It was my understanding that oxygen sensors weren't supposed to need replacing until 90,000 miles. There is a service bulletin (02006) regarding this issue.i feel that at least of portion of this cost should be covered under warranty. How do i check on this?

2001 nissan pathfinder with gas leak. Consumer states fuel leaked from the vehicle making it unsafe to drive. The dealer did not have all the parts to repair the problem. The consumer discovered there was a recall for the exact same problem they were experiencing. The engine light was on.the dealer replaced the 02 sensor. (recall 07v435000)

The oxygen senor failed. This caused the engine warning light to illuminate. The dealership repaired the oxygen senor. Please provide more information.

Dt: the contact stated when attempting to pass state inspection the vehiclefailed emissions testing due to a faulty rear oxygen sensor.the inspection site performed a diagnostic test that produced this code.there was a technical service bulletin nhtsa item628220 concerning this problem.the vehicle has not been seen by a dealer or repair shop.there were no warning indicators to let the contact know there was a problem with the emissions system. Updated 03/09/06.

Nissan pathfinder- oxygen sensor keeps on falling. Very poor quality.

Bose 6 cd changer does not work and has never worked for more than 6 months after i bought the truck.

Prior to buying vehicle, consumer expressed interest in a tether anchor, dealer stated that this part could be ordered and installed, however it took 2 weeks to complete consumer's request and consumer had to pay for it, consumer is angry because she feels all new vehicle should come equipped with the tether anchors.

I purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The 6 disc bose cd player worked perfect for a few years. In 2006 it read err2. I attempted to retrieve the cd's but they would not come out. As a result the player continuously clicked and then eventually stopped. Now it does not do anything. I have found this problem to be very common in 2001 pathfinder and infintiy qx4. There is not a cd player made that is compatible with bose that will sound good. To purchase a new one is ridiculous because of the high price through the dealership. I have spoken to many people in forums that have attempted to repair the broken unit only to have it last a few months. I refuse to throw away money and want to have my unit replaced by the dealership at no charge. There is obviously a trend here with the number of complaints and i would like this matter to be handled correctly.

I purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder in 2004. The bose 6-disc changer immediately failed. The dealership repaired it because it fell within the 30-day warranty period. It worked for about two months after that and then i got an error message one day when i tried to load a cd and it hasn't worked since. Last spring, i took the car in for a tire rotation and balance and my mechanic noted that there was a slight fish-tailing in the back which was caused by deterioration of the rear bushings, and over time, the fish-tailing would get so bad, it could possibly cause an accident when braking. Apparently this is a common occurrence in certain pathfinder models, and nissan even corrected the problem in future models of the pathfinder once the problem was discovered. I have read multiple posts to this website as well as others regarding both of these issues in the 2001 nissan pathfinder. How can nissan not be responsible for the repair/replacement of this faulty equipment? the rear bushing problem is a major safety hazard, and i pray for nissan's sake no one is ever killed in an accident because of this issue, because a good attorney will have a field day in court with the class action lawsuit. Is nhtsa ever going to do anything about this? based on an article i read located at this website: http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/nissan-pathfinder-wobbles-problem-rocks-side-to-side-t6838.html, nissan has been aware of this problem since at least 1998 and has even issued a service repair description for nissan dealerships. This is a major expensive repair. Someone really needs to help consumers with this problem...updated12/02/14

I just purchased a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the 6 disc cd player does not work, it says "err2".i was under the impression that everything was in working condition at the time of purchase.when i asked the dealer to fix it at their cost they would not do it.i think this is bad business since i mentioned the fact that i liked that the vehicle has a 6 disc cd when i test drove it.i am finding out that many many people have the same problem with the cd not working.why doesnt nissan recall it and care about customer satisfaction?

Cd player no longer works; displays err 2.radio volume control knob no longer works.

My 2001 nissan pathfinder 6 disc cd changer went out on me the other day with the dreaded "err2" message.this is clearly a defect that the manufacturer is not taking care of.something must me done.

My bose cd changer in my 2001 nissan pathfinder hasn't been working in a couple of years. It comes up with an err2 message. I know it's a common problem in this model and nissan has not responded to any complaints i've had about this.

2001 nissan pathfinder se had problems with air bags and seat equipment during a major accident.*mrprior to the accident, the consumer purchased an after market westin safari light bar, the installation of the bar caused the air bags not to deploy.it appeared the westin bar prevented the sensors behind the front bumper from being depressed in order to activate the air bags.

The bose 6 disc changer is also giving me as well as hundreds of others the dreaded 'err 2' error and will not eject or play discs.

Factory cd changer for 2001 pathfinder le becomes jammed, will not play cds or eject them, shows an error code of err2. After doing research on the internet, i found out that the unit is manufactured by clarion and that many owners of the same vehicle have had the same problem. If nissan know about that problem why don't recall it?

6 disc cd changer shows err2 on screen and will not eject any disc.problem occurred around 70k miles and dealer would not fix it under even an extended warranty.quoted $1500 for new one or $500 for repair.

I purchased nissan pathfinder 2001 on march 2001, and the in-dash 6-cd changer defected first time less than a year withinthe warranty. It was sent to factory to be refurbished. After that it malfunctionedagain twice. After i bought the service manual for the clarion unit i found the problemwas caused by plastic gears that continued to break. The plastic will get brittle over time and break or strip out. Knowing this, clarion continued to use plasticgears thatwere known to break during normal usage.thiswas poor engineering on clarion's part. If the gears were made of something stronger , such as teflon? the gears would no longer break or strip out. I am very disappointed that no one at nissan/infiniti or clarionadmitted to this problem. The problem mentioned here could be found in most all of the clarion 6-disc changers installed in nissan/infiniti vehicles. A small group across the u.s. Was now spreading the word not to buy nissan/infiniti products because of this single problem. The dissatisfied group was only going to get larger as the number of people find out how nissan/infiniti and clarionwere denying this problem.

My nissan pathfinder cd changer keeps failing with a error message.

Cd player on '01 nissan pathfinder quit working, err 2 message and whirring and clicking sounds.

Factory cd changer for 2001 pathfinder le becomes jammed, will not play cds or eject them, shows an error code of err2.after doing research on the internet, i found out that the unit is manufactured by clarion and that many owners of the same vehicle have had the same problem.i contacted a nissan dealership, they informed me that the unit could be repaired for $230 plus labor and that there was no guarantee.some customers have reported that the problem occurred again after the unit was repaired and/or replaced.since the vehicle is out of bumper to bumper warranty, nissan refuses to do anything about it.i'm not sure if anything has been done about this, but feel it is something that should be researched and that nissan should issue a recall on.

This complaint is in regards to my 2001 nissan pathfinder.the 6-cd in-dash changer does not work.it makes a clicking sound when you try to play a cd and displays "err2" on the screen.after researching this problem on the internet, i found that hundreds of other nissan owners have this exact problem.the cd changer is rendered useless once this happens.

My 2001 nissan pathfinder 6 disc cd changer went out on me the other day with the dreaded "err2" message.this is clearly a defect that the manufacturer is not taking care of.something must me done.

Cd player in 2001 nissan pathfinder will not work properly, it will only click.i have discovered from the internet numerous similar complaints about audio components.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder that has the 6 disc bose cd change, i have contacted the original dealer of the vehicle as well as nissan and clarion, the manufacture of the cd player and have receivedmultiple snow jobs. All i am looking for is the defective player to either be fixed or replaced with a new unit, i know that i am not the only one out there after researching said player on the internet. I found out that several hundred if not thousand people have the same issue.

I own a 2001 nissan pathfinder se that is configured with a bose/clarion 6 cd changer unit.the unit failed in 2007 giving an err 2 message.i had the unit removed by empire nissan lakewood, co who sent it to be repaired twice to a service contractor.both times the unit was returned reinstalled and failed again.this is a defective product.an internet search revealed many other consumers reporting the exact same err 2 problems withtheir audio systems.

On thursday may 24, 2001, i went to pick up my pathfinder at concord nissan. My pathfinder was in for warranty work, on the power controls for the driver seat and the cd player. Dealer had informed me that my 2001 nissan pathfinder le, vin#[xxx], is ready for pick up. As i go over the repairs, i notice the front driver seat is not bolted in. I go and get the service manager, [xxx] , and when he comes out, he really does not understand why i am upset. As [xxx] stands, chewing gum with his hands behind his back, he casually says, everyone makes mistakes. I tried to get [xxx] to see why it is such a big concern of mine, but i was unable to.i even told [xxx] that his i do not give a [xxx] attitude was unsettling. I asked to see if the mechanic is qualified to the repairs. I asked if there was a torque specification for these bolts and i was told, not every bolt has torque requirements. This dealership did make a huge mistake by not bolting in the driver seat. I have asked for a written letter of explanation of how this could happen.this mistake could have been catastrophic! bolts that hold a seat in place are not an option; they were engineered to be there for a reason. If these bolts had gone unnoticed a serious accident could have occurred, perhaps even death. This is a major safety issue and at what point is a repair facility responsible for the quality of work they do and safety of their customers?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Subject vehicle is 2001 nissan pathfinder le 3.5. Err 2 diplayed on stereo/ cd player. Six (6) cd's in unit cannot be ejected.

Clarion 6 disc cd changer are defective, error 2.

Nissan pathfinder 2001 le - 6 disc bose/clarion cd changer does not work even after attempts to repair.dealer will attempt to replace as a courtesy, not covered by warranty, but service manager and internet users both stad this wasa known problem with nissan.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder le that has approximately 74000 miles on it.this summer, the oem 6 disc cd changer by clarion in the car has stopped working properly.it was not used inappropriately or abnormally in any way.i inserted a cd into it, and it displayed "err2" on the screen, and began clicking repeatedly, and the cd did not play at all.i was able to eject all cd's from the changer, but the unit continues to not work.in subsequent attempts to play a cd in the changer, the same error "err2" displays and i hear the repeated clicking.i have not tried to replace the unit or fix this problem at all.i have done some online research and found that this is a very common defect in nissan pathfinders by readying/joining a forum where hundreds of users are experiencing the same problem.in fact, i have found pay services dedicated to repairing this unit because of the overwhelming population of users with the same problem.i believe nissan should resolve this issue immediately.thanks.

Second time bose 6 cd changer has failed since purchase of my certified pre-owned 2001 nissan pathfinder in april 2004. Same err2 message - grinding of cd's - no play, no eject. Already spent $250 getting fixed about 18 months ago - now same problem recurring.

The cd changer in the nissan pathfinder 2001 has inherent defect. It appears that the mechanism inside fails no matter what type of repair it goes through. I contacted both nissan and bose and no assistance what so ever.

Audio disc player will no longer accept any disc for play.

The bose 6 disc changer is also giving me as well as hundreds of others the dreaded 'err 2' error and will not eject or play discs.

My name is [xxx]and i am a owner of 2001 nissan pathfinder that just hit 78k miles. The factory installed 6 disc changer doesn't seem to be working. It takes cds and makes noises as it shuffles the cds but it won't read/play any of my cds. It just give me an error "err2". Can you please help me in this issue. There are lot of folks out there who are having the same problem. Please see the below link:http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/4/171690.html.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Clarion/ bose stereo err2 on cdplayer , 2001 nissan pathfinder cd player does not work & houses cd's internal. Cd's will not eject . Safety concern as people try to free cd's may get electrical shock..manufacturer will not recall item.

6 cd changer cd player never works, i have tried to call nissan as i found 100 of similar complaints but no response. The cd system is by bose. One of the top cd makers in the world.dealers will charge 2000 to fix it, is it really worth fixing it for 2k i would rather install of the mkt one, however it shows poor customer service and quality.

Cd changer system no longer functional in vehicle, reported to nissan and they refused to assist.err2 or err3 message when trying to play any cd, bose head unit seems to work fine, problem is limited to the clarion 6-disc changer component.othes have reported this same issue, nissan needs to take action or face losing brand loyal customers.

Cd player suddenly stopped working while it was switching from one cd to the next. I did research on the internet and found that hundreds of people are having the same problem with the same pathfinder at about the same mileage. The dealership informed me it would cost $500 to repair. The cd player ate up my cds and i can not get them out unless i take apart the dash and every time i turn on the ignition, i hear a series of clicking noises. There should be a recall on this disk changer.

Bosse 6 cd changer shows error2 on display and dose not play any music.

I own 2001 nissan pathfinder and the clarion bose 6 cd player keeps braking down. This is the third failure and nissan nor clarion are willing to fix. Moreover i was shocked to find out that hundreds of other users across discussion forums are complaining about the same problem. Clarion made a crap of cd player so they should stay behind their product.thank you!

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the front plastic head lamp cover had become fogged, which caused the headlights to illuminate very dimly. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 175,000.the consumer stated the damage to the plastic assembly was caused by hear of the head lamp and the inability of the plastic material to withstand intense heat. 2001 nissan pathfinder le - smell gas and noticed gas leaking.found out that nissan has a recall for this, but our vehicle vin is not included in the recall.our vehicle has the very problem described in the recall....why is our vin not included?

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the tire mechanic noticed rust in the wheel weld on the lower bracket due to fuel leaking from the vehicle.the manufacturer stated that the contact's vin was not included in the recall for nhtsa campaign id number 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap).they also advised him to call the consumer affairs division in two weeks.the tire mechanic diagnosed the failure while replacing the tires.the repair would cost $1,000.the failure mileage was 68,900 and current mileage was 69,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.in 2007, the contact received a recall notice for the fuel system, gasoline towards the end of april.he called the dealer to schedule an appointment for the recall repair and they stated that he would need to bring the vehicle in for inspection.afterwards, depending on the diagnostic results, they would determine whether or not the components needed to be replaced.the recall notice stated that the component would be replaced no matter what; therefore, the contact believed that the dealer should replace the defected item regardless of the diagnostic results.there had been no failure to date.the recall number was unknown.the current mileage was approximately 77,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the contact stated the vehicle was leaking fuel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician made the contact aware of recall nhtsa campaign number 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline) and explained that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where the technician stated that the filler tube assembly needed to be replaced but since the statue of limitation had surpassed and the contact would have to cover the repairs. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 151,033 the current mileage was 274,415.

Gasoline filler pipe perforation leading to fuel loss when filled and fumes consistently - significant health hazard from fumes and fire/explosion danger.... Date and mileage required to complete this form is estimate...nissan refuses to complete recall work as vehicle is no longer in salt state...code put in by initial technician was for non-salt state...technician was unaware that the vehicle was originally sold in and was in salt state for four years prior to moving to non-salt state.

I received a recall for my 2001 nissan pathfinder for a faulty fuel filler tube.i had to replace my tube a couple of years ago due to leaking gas.how do i go about getting reimbursed for this work?

The filler pipe on my nissan pathfinder is rusted and causing a gas smell.have called nissan on recall campaign 07v435000 and they claim the car is not covered, even though the problem is identical to the recall campaign.

A strong odor of gasoline is present after filling up and lasts until the tank is approximately 3/4 full.this problem began 2 weeks ago.it occurs every time the tank is filled.the problem has not been corrected.the nhtsa website indicated that a recall was issued in 2007 for this problem.the manufacturer's report date is 9-12-07.the vehicle is a 2001 nissan pathfinder and was originally sold in new york.i am the second owner and purchased the vehicle in 2004 in north carolina.consequences of the defect are possible gasoline fire and total destruction of the vehicle and death of all passengers.the vehicle is parked and will not be driven until the dealer honors the recall.so far all conversations with the dealer and nissan have been fruitless, and both parties declare the vehicle has no outstanding recalls and they will not honor the nhtsa recall because they have no record of any such recall.when i pushed them with the information on the nhtsa id number for the recall, their response was "the nhtsa does not own nissan."the nhtsa id number is 07v435000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the vehicle was parked when the contact stated that he noticed a strong odor of gasoline from the vehicle exterior.he then inspected the vehicle and discovered that the odor was coming from the filler tube. The dealer advised the contact of a potential recall on the vehicle under nhtsa campaign id number: 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). The manufacturer advised the contact that they were unaware if his vehicle was included in the recall and would later return his call with a decision. The manufacturer did not return the contacts call and the contact was unaware of his vehicle was included in the recall campaign or not. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 105,000.

Smelling gas, and see gas on garage floor.....filler tube is rusted....nissan says my 2001 pathfinder is not included in this recall......than why do i smell gas.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, gasoline would spew back out from the filler neck. In addition, the contact would frequently smell an overpowering gasoline odor from the interior of the vehicle. The contact was able to locate a recall for the failure and when contacting the manufacturer, he was informed his vin was not included in the recall (nhtsa campaign id number: 07v435000: fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly: filler pipe and cap). The vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. The failure and current mileages were approximately 123,000.

When fueling, gas tank over fills and spills gasoline onto side of vehicle and ground. This is serious potential fire hazardautomatic fuel shut off not properly working. If fuel shut off works, gas gauge shows. Gas amount to be slightly above 3/4 full. When attempting to fully fuel tank to have gas gauge show "f" then gasoline will over flow. Only recourse now is to drive with 3/4 tank full in order to prevent fuel spills.took it to dealer. Dealer indicated this is normal for frontiers and nothing is wrong.dt

Dt*: the contact stated while parked in the driveway, a gas leak was noticed.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop, who determined the gas filler hose was fractured and needed to be replaced.

Gasoline has been leaking from the gas tube on my 2001 nissan pathfinder for two years.i contacted the dealer several months ago and asked them about the recall.they knew nothing about it.i then notified them of the recall and directed to the website.i'm tired of the smell of gasoline, gas on my driveway and lawn and polluting my lake.i want to know when i will receive a recall notice and repair.we have waited long enough for nissan to act and ignore the nhtsa recall and ignore potential hazards to nissan vehicle owners.

On september 12,2007 nissan posted a recall on 2001 nissan pathfinders. My vehicle which should be part of the recall was denied by nissan because my vehicles vin#s were not part of their recall. I beg to differ. I purchased my vehicle in june 06 in lou,ky. The recall states that if they are currently registered in certain states and ky is one of those then i'm entitled to the recall. I have contacted nissan and they denied my request. I do not know what will happen to the fuel tube or ifby chance it will cause a fire or some serious injury to myself or others. I know i'm being mistreated by nissan and i would like this to be corrected if possible.i want nissan to own up to its recall and take care of business. After all they recalled the vehicle.

2001 nissan pathfinder with fuel filter recall. Consumer states that the vehicle had already been repaired for this problem and would like to be reimbursed since there is a recall out for this problem.

Pressing gas making too much noice

I have noticed a very strom gas smell in and outside of my wehicle lately. I took it to the garage and it needs a new gas tank as the original has rusted and leaking. I see where this model has a recall in the states with high road salt useage - this unit came from ontario with high road salt useage.

The fuel pump is leaking. Exhausted pipe leak and the muffler damaged.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that there was strong fuel odor emitting from outside the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure generally occurred when the vehicle was low on fuel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and verified that the vehicle was previously repaired under recall nhtsa campaign number: 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was unavailable.

Nissan recalled the 2001 pathfinder rear door (hatch) strut bracket replacement and it refused to service my pathfinder 2001 saying my car was not on the recall list. My car's vin number is [xxx] and nissan said it wasn't on the range of the cars affected by this recall and therefore they wouldn't fix it. I get the same rattling noise from the trunk door while driving and it's the same reason what the recall is for. As per nissan this trunk door can fell off and cause serious injuries. Please visit http://www.nissandriven.com and go to recall info link to find out about this recall.my complaint file number with nissan is [xxx] and the person i spoke to is kim who can be reached at 1-800-6477261 * 8430. 2001 nissan pathfinder has experienced two events where the brakes have malfunctioned.the first event involved the emergency brake activating when the vehicle was traveling about 45 mph without the driver pulling up on the emergency handle.immediately upon the brake locking up, the driver pulled up and down on the handle and the emergency brake thankfully released itself.the second event occurred two weeks later when all four brakes failed to activate when the driver pushed down on the brake pedal - it went to the floor without engaging any of the brakes.after pushing the brake pedal over and over, the car finally stopped just short of the car in front of him at the intersection.we took the vehicle to the nissan dealer and they allegedly analyzed all of the braking systems and could not find any problems.this vehicle has an abs system that might be malfunctioning, but we do not know what the problem(s) could be.since the vehicle is essential to our daily use, we are driving it with some concern and constant worry.

The transmission will not shift to a lower gear when acceleration is needed to merge into traffic or when driving uphill. After taking my foot off the gas pedal and slowing down, the vehicle will go into the lower gear. But this presents a horrible safety problem when this happens while trying to increase speed. After presenting dealer with safety bulletin, dealer said this is not a known problem and will not cover the repair. Transmission now has problems simply shifting while driving about 40-50 mph.

I own a 2001 nissan pathfinder.i am experiencing delayed, noisy and hard engagement when i shift from park to reverse.i have also experienced a wavering when the transmission is shifting at approximately 30 miles per hour.when my wife took into the dealer they told her this is normal for a pathfinder.the delayed engagements occur routinely so a precise incident date is not applicable.

While driving at any speed, the vehicles engine would overheat.the consumer checked the radiator to find that all of the fluids were leaking out on the ground.the consumer has had the dealer examine the vehicle on three different occasions.the dealer have replaced the radiator, thermostat and the fan clutch.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the driver seat automatic drive positioner failed. As a result, the seat would not adjust forward or backwards. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who made him aware of technical service bulletin nhtsa item number: 615858 (seats:front assembly:power adjust). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 116,000.updated 1/23/13updated 02/11/2013

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the contact stated that the center arm rest in the rear of the vehicle leans on the convertible child safety seat.this causes the arm rest to lean outwards.the failure is due to how the rear seat was designed.the center seat belt was twisted at the base, which made it difficult to tighten and secure the child seat.the contact attempted to disassemble it and was unsuccessful.the owners manual stated that it is unsafe when the seat belt is twisted.the angle of the rear seat is steep at the bottom.the contact is using a huge bath towel folded under the seat, but the seat is not secure.the child seat moves from side to side.the safety seat rests on the edge of where the vehicle's seat meets the other section of the rear seat.this increases instability and causes the child seat to angle downwards.the vehicle has no lower anchor tether.the contact has not spoken with the dealer.the purchase date and fuel system were unknown.the current mileage is 95,153 and failure mileage was 60,153.

Drivers seat stuck in the back position. Could not adjust seat to drive as i am very short was very scary trying to get home.

The driver's seat moved from side to side. It makes driver nervous when it happens and it may not be safe in some conditions.nissan should fix the problem free of charge at the customers request, but they won't.

The consumer owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.she stated that the motor on her driver's seat that makes the seat go forward and back no longer works.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they wanted to install a kit that will "wake up the motor" to make the seat go forward and back and that this was the recommended fix.nissan's service department informed the consumer that there are four motors that control the driver's seat.only the motor that controls the forward and backward movement falls asleep.this problem would happen frequently on lower mileage vehicle's that are still under warranty. *sc

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the brakes needed to be replaced multiple times. Also, the contact stated that the check engine light would continuously illuminate after being reset by a technician. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the brakes needed to be replaced. The repairs were made but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.

Premature wear and warpage of the front brake rotors.i have driven the vehicle 34,000 miles and had to have the rotors machined 2 times. *ph

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. While entering a parking space approximately 5 mph, the contact engaged the brakes and the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated. The vehicle failed to slow down and crashed into an unoccupied vehicle. The abs warning light illuminated then immediately, the vehicle came to a stop while extensive force was applied to the brake pedal. There wereno injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and to be repaired. The vehicle exhibited severe body damage. The contact was in the process of notifying the manufacturer of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.updated 07/08/11

There is an extremely long amount of brake pedal travel( approx 1/2 way to floor) before the brakes engage.also, after the brakes engage it requires a lot of pressure to stop the vehicle.this occurs on almost every time i engage the brakes.

There is some shakinginfront end between 55 mph and 70 mph. Contacted dealer 8 times, but so far no remedy.also, the brakes continuously roar or skip.

Abs brake systems should be removed from automobiles or the owner should be able to have them removed.

While parallel parkingvehicle continued to roll backward and hit a brick wall while the brakes was still being applied by the consumer. Dealer was notified , andwas unable to determine the cause of the problem.

Excessive effort needed to engagebraking system. When traveling at higher than 30 mph speeds or whenvehicle load is heavy, driver has to depressbrake pedal all way tofloor to get the braking system to engage. The manufacturer representative inspected the brakes and indicated to be normal.

Brakes felt very spongy which caused extended stopping distance and ma y result in a crash.dealer said it was the characterisict ofvehicle.pedal movement before brakes engage was excessive.consumer have to pump pedal before the brakes become firm.

We purchased a new nissan pathfinder (vin #[xxx]) in july 2001 from white plains nissan, inc. In white plains, ny. October 12, 2003: the car began making a screeching noise when braking.i removed the front right tire to see what was going on, and immediately saw that part of the caliper broke off, and was leaning against the inside part of the rim, at which point i put the tire back on, and began calling nissan to set up an appointment (the car is still under original manufacturers warranty).october 13, 2003: we took it to the local nissan dealer in stamford, stamford motors, inc., nissan division.when my wife olga dropped the car off at the dealership, she stated clearly what the problem was (broken caliper) and asked how long it would take to get it fixed under the manufacturers warranty.she also pointed out that, according to the piece of paper given to her by the service representative, she could get charged for the time to diagnose the problem, while it was obvious what the problem was.the dealership representative said it was standard procedure, and she had to sign it. The following day, nobody contacted me or my wife and we had to call ourselves.when my wife called the dealership for an update, their service manager [xxx]said that the part wasn't going to be covered, because they think that the part had been tampered with.when my wife asked [xxx].to elaborate, he said that these parts rarely break unless tampered with, and because there was a scratch on the outside on the caliper, they think that someone was trying to change the break pads himself, and broke the caliper. we have already shown the part to several independent shops, including a metal expert, all of which recognized a fatigue failure and not something that could have been caused by tempering.we are intending to pursue this matter further, until nissan decides to take responsibility and fix this very serious customer care issue.*nlminformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information ac

The driver side strut tower on my 2001 pathfinder completely rusted through.the strut tower was disconnected from the body due to the rust.when the tower finally let go, the steering was affected causing issues steering the vehicle.the problem was only on the driver side.there is a significant amount of rust on the driver side under carriage of the vehicle, whereas the passenger side is not as bad.the disconnection of the tower caused damage to the front end suspension components.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for an unrelated problem when they informed him that there were numerous holes in the strut housing. The vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number 11v244000 (steering, suspension). The vehicle was not further repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 04/30/13*ljthe consumer stated he took the vehicle to the dealer, after receiving a recall notice. The dealer asked for two days to repair the vehicle. However they returned the vehicle two hours later. They stated the consumer should not have any problems with the strut tower. Five months later, the consumer noticed damage to the driver;s side front strut tower.the vehicle was taken to the dealer again, where they stated they could perform a second recall, but the consumer would have to contact nissan to receive permission. After having the vehicle for two weeks, the consumer received a call from nissan customer affairs, stating they were not going to perform a second recall and cover the cost of the repair. They did not give the consumer an explanation. When the consumer returned to pick up his vehicle, he was informed, it was not safe to drive. Updated 06/06/13

I was drivingmy 2001 nissan pathfinder on a bumpy road and hit a pothole, the right strut punched through the strut tower and i could no longer control the vehicle. I then had it towed to my local shop and found out the whole of both strut towers were corroded beyond belief. I had one repaired after i reported it to my insurance company who then charged me a point on my license for the accident. I then traded the vehicle in order to avoid paying through the nose for the other strut tower repair, i then find out nissan did a recall on the problem. Now they refuse to pick up the phone. They even gave me a bogus e-mail account to send the paper work for the reimbursement. I feel they at least owe me the amount for the repairs and the surcharge i am still paying.

The driver owned a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The driver was involved in a crash in which the vehicle lost control and veered off the road. The contact was not involved so the exact details of the failure were unavailable. The driver died as a result of the crash. The police appeared on the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an insurance lot but they have not diagnosed the failure. The failure and current mileages were 107,000.

I was on the frwy. And my nissan pathfinder started to wobble like, it was going to flip over. I was driving about 60-65 and was headed in a straight direction. I took my foot off of the accelerator and the wobble seemed to go away. I was on the frwy. So i sped up to the legal limit, and now i'm going around a curve and,the wobble was intense , it scared meto death. Since, i have had the struts, shocks replaced twice. I've done a lot of research on this wobble...it is called the death wobble...it is a problem with the materialsused making, the bushings in the rear suspension. Even when these bushings (the same material bushings) are replaced it can and will happen again. People driving around me when this wobble starts... They cannot get away from me fast enough. This is very expensive to repair especially, most mechanics do process of elimination, starting with shocks, tires, struts, upper and lower control arms, rear arm assembly, ball joints and wheel bearings need i say more. On ask.com, the death wobble is well known. This needs to be investigated. This is the second pathfinder i have owned , i purchase nissan products because they are good for 2 to 300k. I love my pathfinder , but i don't want to die in it or have an accident, killing anybody . The bushings need to be made of some other material so that this will quit happening. When all is stable, it starts all over again within a few thousand miles.

The 01 thru 04 pathfinder has some kind of rear suspension flaw.the online forums call it a death sway and i agree. It is beyond me why this has not been recalled as of yet. If you have sometime i would love to take you on a ride because i know that something would get done after riding with this problem. Thanks

Vehicle was being driven at about 30 mph and the steering wheel got loose and unresponsive. Car started to swerve onto oncoming traffic so it was stopped in the middle of the intersection. Framestrut cover came loose due to corrosion and broke intermediate steering shaft.

The steering pull and/or body vibration manifests itself at highway speeds of between 60 and 75 mph, regardless of road crown or imperfections of the surface. This defect impairs the steering considerably. Steering becomes even more of a channlange during wet road conditions in respect of the recent nhtsa publication, showing a two star rollover rating for this vehicle, the referenced defect indeed has a seriousnegative impact on the safety of this vehicle whilst driven on highways at the speeds indicated. The manufacturer has not responded to phonecalls and letter of notification. Arbitration was held under the bbb autoline program. Request for repurchase was denied despite the fact that both the manufacturers representative and the arbitrator recognized the defect during the test drive. The arbitrator considered it a nusance.

I purchased this vehicle used. We did not go over 40 on thetest drive. The next day once we approached 55 mph the rear of the vehicle began to violently wobble back and forth. We decided to research the issue and tons of complaints were cited about the same"death wobble" issue. We had done and alignment, rotated and balanced the tires and it helped slightly but the wobble is still there. It seems there is a problem with the rear bushings and /or control arms. From what i have read. Why has this not been recalled with the hundreds of complaints? we have not priced it out but seems to be a costly fix.

Excessive rust, corrosion and holes in sub frame of 2001 nissan pathfinder where the passenger side control arm connects to the sub frame of the vehicle.also excessive rust in whole front end of vehicle. Did have vehicle recall id # 88860 - suspension:front addressed however nissan did not address excessive rust and hole on right side of vehicle near area where control arm connects to sub frame.

My car body structure was broken into two pieces, and it is not operable. The passenger front side strut tower on my 2001 pathfinder was completely rusted through. The strut tower was disconnected from the body due to the rust. When the tower finally let go, the steering was affected causing issues steering the vehicle. The problem was not only on the passenger side. There is a significant amount of rust on the driver side under carriage of the vehicle as well as the rest of the frame body structure. It caused also damage to the suspension components.before my car got broken, i heard a noise from its right side and i was driving it on the highway, for a second i lost the ability to steel my car, but i kept it steady until i could get the next exit. I could have suffered a fatal accident that day. There is a recall for frame/body structure corrosion for this model 2001 pathfinder registered in new jersey. As soon i was aware about it,i called to nissan consumer affairs to explain my situation. One of the nissan repress. Advised me to take my car to the dealership in avenel nj. My car was not drivable, so i called to the towing truck to pick and drop it off to the dealership on dec 26, 2013. Since then, i have not had a response from nissan to help me with my situation. Each time i spoke to a representative, they said that my case is still in process, and i need to wait for a decision.i can not believe it, i have been in a dangerous situation driven my car in thatmatter. I need a car to go to work for my livelihood and also to take my children to their school. I cannot afford to pay for a car rental. And after all of these, nissan does not have any sense of cooperation. I requested them to help me with a provisional car to keep my life style on, but they denied it. I need help from the governmentnhtsa to make nissan take care about this recall.

I just bought the 2001 nissan pathfinder 1 week prior from a private seller. While driving at 30 mph i hit a very large pot hole, common in mn. I heard a extra loud bang come from the front driver side wheel and pulled over instantly, upon exiting the vehicle i noticed the tire and wheel well were almost in contact with each other i couldn't see what had broke, being that it was a pitch black night. So i decided to drive the rest of the way home. The next morning i woke up and ran directly to mechanic who looked at the vehicle and told me i needed new struts shocks and cv axles i agreed with his bid and he began work on the front passenger shocks, struts, cv axle. Next he does the driver side and notices that strut is not staying in place, finishes the job calls me and says the job is complete but he needs to talk, i get to the mechanics and he hands me a bill for $830 and shows me that the strut housing on drivers side had completely rusted away. I have parked the vehicle and need to find out if this is covered by the recall.

While driving, especially at high speeds (40-65 mph), if road is bumpy, or uneven, the truck begins to wobble from side to side.you have to immediately let off of the gas to get it under control.it's getting worse, and feels unsafe to continue to drive, unless i slow down and get the wobble under control.

My car was parked out in the street in front of the house by the mail box, when some guy backed up into my car pushing it about 4 ft back. Damaging the front fender, hood, and wheel. The steering wheel used to be straight now its turned half ways while driving, which i only went around the block cause i got too scared. But apparently driver has no insurance and hes on disability.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact's vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 11v244000 (structure) and repaired in 2015. While the contact's daughter was driving at a very low speed, she attempted to make a u-turn and the steering column fractured. As a result, the vehicle drove forward and ran into a curb. My 2001 nissan pathfinder se 145,169 miles at the time.(this noise began around 120,000k miles).now i have only 1k more out of necesity. Front right side(drivers side ) began to make a thumping sound.soon after the sound both sides were making the same thunp.i can feel every bump and crack in road and steering feels way off.the service center told me both front struts were bad and the upper mounts were rusty and need replaced for safety issues as well as ride of truck.i have my estimate at $740.00.at this time i cannot afford the cost of this repair.nissan has sent a letter hinting to a future recall, but they said they would contact me later.what am i supposed to do?drive until the struts blow!!!!unacceptable to send a recall notice to be determined.thank you

Family car;2001 nissan pathfinder, we got in the truck and drove about 250 feet to the stop sign. I stop. As i started moving and suddenly i hear a pop loud sound from engine compartment and my steering got hard and difficult to steer and a grinding sound as you turn the steering. Drove back to the house slow and park. Open the hood and i see the strut tower under neath the brake master cylinder, then i look between left side (drivers) tire the strut tower just ripped from the factory weld. The sub-frame/cradle 54400-0w00 on the passenger side is rotted out to the point that it will not pass a pa state inspection.this was found by my mechanic while he was replacing the front rotors and brakes.my mechanic has ordered a new sub frame + bolts to replace the rotted out sub-frame.i wonder how many other sub-frames are rotted out on pathfinders from 1996 to 2004 which is when nissan used this particular part. My concern is if this part fails completely what will happen???i have restricted driving my pathfinder until the new part is installed.i think someone should look into this problem, because when it fails and it will someone will get hurt or even killed?the control arms mounted to this part which controls steering. This part plus labor will cost me about $1500.00.

There is an excessive amount of rust on the vehicle including the wheel well, door jams, floor board, and frame.i was almost unable to receive a replacement windshield because the frame is rusting out.i purchased the vehicle in the north then moved south and the problem has grown worse.the compartment that is holding the spare tire under the vehicle is rusting out as well.this could potentially become a safety problem if the spare tire separates from its supports while operating on a roadway. Rust has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle with no specific start date nor end date.

"front strut tower corrosion and rust" - while parked, i checked the front passenger side wheel well area and noticed corrosion and rust.upon further investigation, there is a large crack in the strut tower itself.this crack begins in the area that nissan allegedly "fixed" and "repaired" under their recall a few years back.obviously, this was not a permanent fix and has now presented a safety hazard and potentially financial burden on my family and me.this vehicle is a primary means of transporting my family, including my 2 year old child.

I am greatly disappointed due to the fact that i have been experiencing several problems related to the same matter in my 2001 pathfinder se.it has been one disappointment after another all related to the same issue, thus makes the vehicle unsafe. The problems that i have are with the weather strips and the regulators in the driver and passenger side.they have been replaced several times, and now they need to be replaced again.obviously these parts are made of poor quality.the cost for replacing these parts is very expensive.i urge nissan to recall the parts in the pathfinder doors.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder. It recently developed steering issues after hitting a small pothole. My mechanic informed me the entire left wheel well was rotted out and that i should not drive the car on the highway as the wheel might collapse. After then taking the car to a body shop for a repair estimate, i was told this was the 3rd time he had seen the exact same problem, with a 1999-2001 pathfinder. Researching on line i found numerous complaints on the same issue. Repair estimate was 2000.00. Mechanic at body shop also stated not to drive car on highway as results could be fatal. Repair will involve removing engine components, bumper and replacing wheel well housing, then welding a reinforcement brace.

Vehicle has spent its life in upstate new york ware weather conditions wet and roads are salted i washed under carriage regularly to prevent corrosion but after winter the vehicles front support bracket connected to the frame that holds the front axle and lower control arm to the frame separated from the frame causing the front wheel to separate as well i was very lucky i noticed the noise and did not take drive it at any speed because the result would have been catastrophic i feel that it is a flaw in the design and that a recall should mandatory for nissan.

The 01 thru 04 pathfinder has some kind of rear suspension flaw.the online forums call it a death sway and i agree. It is beyond me why this has not been recalled as of yet. If you have sometime i would love to take you on a ride because i know that something would get done after riding with this problem. Thanks

Rear end sways uncontrollablywobble. Wobble happens after 50 mph while accelerating around corner and or on freeway. Extremely dangerous and scary ...

I noticed a little pull in the steering wheel when taking a turn, so i stopped in to the nissan dealership an was advised that the shock tower has failed. This is a problem that nissan has know about an has done nothing about it. I did contact nissan and they said they would pay $1100. Towards the repair, which was $2100.00, i tailed them this is a safety defect and should have been recalled. Lucky for me an other people i wasn't driving on a highway an had this fail completely. The wheel would have fallen off an have lost control of the vehicle. They know there is a problem and have decided not to take action. I have argued with nissan, they do know there is a problem, otherwise why would they be willing to pay without lots of questions. I have had this vehicle since 2001 and have done all the oil changes, brakes, tires, it is in great shape, an this failed because of a problem in workmanship. You can find many people that own this vehicleand have had this problem, they need to do something before someone really gets hurt or killed with a shock tower failure.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that when the vehicle traveled over a road bump or uneven road surface, the rear of the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. The contact researched online and found that the failure could have involved the sway bars.the contact spoke with the manufacturer and was told to take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 134,000 and the current mileage was 144,000.

I recently replaced the suspension on my 2001 nissan pathfinder. I see now that the pathfindershave been recalled in the northern states for that problem. I called nissan and they are telling me that my car is not on the list as i did not purchase it up north.i have driven it to charlottesville, va frequently as my daughter attended school up there.i cost me approximately $700. For this repair. I was driving on the interstate for work and could not keep the car on the road as it fishtailed all over.i immediately took it tothe shop and was advised my suspension had to be replaced due to rust.

Vehicle was stopped, waiting to make right hand turn; attempting to turn resulted in the steering wheel spinning freely; vehicle had to be towed; initial inspection revealed steering column shaft snapped in half; upon further inspection the drivers side front strut tower had ripped away from the body of the truck; **this vehicle had recalls issued in the past, it was taken to leckner nissan in stafford, va but they obviously did not mitigate the problem - they simply cleared the recall from the computer**

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact was making a sharp right onto a freeway when he could not control the steering. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road where the vehicle came in contact with the side rail of the emergency lane causing scratches on the front bumper. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the technicians stated the driver side strut tower was corroded and broke the steering column. The technicians replaced the strut tower, the abs brakes sensor and the steering column. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000. Updated 03/03/11 the strut tower separated from the unibody frame because of rust on the bottom/ the steering shaft snapped when the strut tower pushed inside the engine compartment. Updated 09/01/11

Driver's side strut tower has rusted to the point were the truck will pass va state safety inspection. There was a recall performed by several years ago by nissan for the rust issue on both inner wheel wells and strut tower area.

My family in the carwhen this occur. What if this occur while on the highway at higher speeds. My truck only has 106523 miles and was scheduled for a pa inspection.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the power steering seemed to grind. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who stated that the strut tower separated and was leaning against the steering column. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer and the dealer offered to repair it at the contact's expense. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance as the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 90,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, she heard a strange noise and the vehicle failed to respond to the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the strut housing had failed. The contact also mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number 11v244000 (steering, suspension). The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph and heard a clicking noise from the front end of the vehicle. In addition, there was difficulty turning the steering wheel and a reduction in the engine power. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 11v244000 (suspension:front). The remedy consisted of the replacement of the reinforcement plate due to excessive corrosion. The failure continued after the repair was performed. The dealer stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph and going over a bump, the vehicle shook violently. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where it was confirmed that the vehicle needed new tires and an alignment. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 172,000.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.while driving approximately 15 mphand trying to turn the steering wheel to the right he experienced heavy resistance.he was able to successfully turn the vehicle to the right but the steering wheel was very stiff.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop on four different occasions where they were unable to diagnose the failure.the failure continued to recur intermittently so the vehicle was taken to another independent repair shop where he was informed the strut tower was separated from the frame of the vehicle.the vehicle had not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were 135,000.

Driver side front strut tower made a loud "pop" sound when driving.bottom portion of strut top cracked through.strut tower bearing now moaning when turning, out of gimble.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the window pulsated on the front windshield due to corrosion on the firewall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the firewall was corroded and perforated. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer also discovered that the vehicle had severe corrosion and stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The issue would need to be further escalated through nissan. Once nissan was contacted, the dealer was instructed to put an anti-corrosive spray on the strut housing and place a bracket on the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder 4x4 se.for about 8 months now i have been experiencing a problem with the handling of this truck.the car begins to shake extremely hard between 55 - 65 mph.the shaking is so bad it is sometimes difficult to keep control of the steering because the steering wheel shakes just as much.i have seen that im not the only one with this problem.i have gone to the dealer several times to get this problem resolved.they told me it could have been the alignment or the balancing of the wheels and i payed to get that done to no avail.the problem persists even with new wheels and tires.i dont know what it is but it should be looked into before something terrible happens to somebody because of this problem.

Traveling down the highway - hit a swoop in the road and the vehicle starting rocking back and forth like a boat in the water.it felt like it was going to roll over until i had to put on brakes going 65 miles per hour.now can only maintain a highway speed of 50 mph in order not to experience this rocking back and forth.

Broken left front coil springs had been replaced.the consumer noticed a slight metallic sound when driving the vehicle.the drivers side coil spring had sheared off at the base but was still resting on the pad. *sc

The car's rear end sways on slowing down and up on acceleration, it seems to have a loss of traction.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder.the contact stated that there was a hole on the upper strut housing and there was corrosion present. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number 11v244000 (steering , suspension). The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the mechanic stated that there was a hole present however the vehicle did not require any repair.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 185,000.

The body and frame and suspension rusted from what i read online pathfinders are known to rust away from the frame and etc. My car has been well taken care of with original paint and its rusting everywhere.

There is some shakinginfront end between 55 mph and 70 mph. Contacted dealer 8 times, but so far no remedy.also, the brakes continuously roar or skip.

The driverside strut tower has become unattached from the frame.there is no rust marks anywhere in this section.the strut tower wore away at the steering wheel shaft and broke it.i lost all ability to steer the car and was forced to jump a curb.

On braking, right front tire started to shake and steering well was almost ripped from hands. Mechanic put on lift and right rear a arm attachment point was totally rusted out. Upon inspection left front was ready to go as well. Frame has numerous rust holes in it. 10 yr old car can not be repaired.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. While the contact was driving approximately 25 mph, there was difficulty turning the steering wheel in the right direction. The failure occurred continuously whenever he made a right turn. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed him that the strut tower housing was completely covered with rust which resulted in a fracture. Regarding pe11004 - my left front strut tower has completely failed.there is a heavy amount of corrosion around the area, and the thin metal, once corroded, ripped like paper around the base of the tower.handling of the vehicle became very poor, and steering became more difficult.i believe it also put stress on the brake lines, as i could feel pulsing in the brake pedal while going over bumps with the bad tower.

Bolt broke in front strut tower, and feel off in the driveway. We happened to drive 60 mile trip and son called and informed of the broken bolt. We took to nissan in marietta, and got no service period. We have callen nissan customer service and registered a complaint.

No crash yet but i do have a fish tailing, side to side wobbling that appears to be a design defect from nissan.i own a 2001 nissan pathfinder with 99,000 miles and at speeds over 50 miles an hour, the truck will start wobbling side to side due to a rut in the road or a gust of wind.from what i have been told by several nissan mechanics, the rear upper and lower control arm bushings are bad and deteriorate prematurely, causing the dangerous wobble in the truck.the cost to replace the bushings is $700.00 plus and have to be replaced.very poor design which will end up causing serious accidents or injuries.thank you.

The contact owns a 2001 nissan pathfinder. While driving approximately 50 mph, the rear end of the vehicle began to fishtail. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. The contact was unable to locate a failure and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure occurred while driving 50 mph or greater. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

I have a 2001 nissan pathfinder. It sway from side to side while i'm driving. It doesn't have to be fast or slow. First, i changed the front shock absorber. Not much improvement, then the ball joint. It improved about halfway. But now after about a month, it's even worse. I did some research in the internet and surprise, i'm not the only one having this problem. It looks like a lot of pathfinder owners have the same issue. I know my car is old but quite a few have the same issue before they hit 100k miles. I think this is a design problem or parts problem and should be recall. So far, i didn't see any death or accident reported because of this but i'm sure it's bound to happen. It's dangerous driving this thing around with the swaying specially in high speed.

I have 2wd nissan pathfinder.the car has been vobbeling left to right and right to left at speeds of 50mph and over.some of the symptoms are excessive play in the rear axle especially during moderate acceleration or deceleration. A vehicle pulling at a constant speedexcessive sway and rocking motion in the front suspension when coming to a stop.there are about 100 + people that i found on one website with the same problem.http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/t5lstpr50npco9ctlthere are many other sites like the above site where people have posted their problem and solution.

Have a 2001 pathfinder sways from side to side from the rear at 55 miles i thought it might be theshocksbut now i found that all 2001 pathfinder do this at that speed. Why does has it not being recall.same vehicle engine light does not turn have replaced all kinds of sensors and still light does not turn off.

Rear suspension sways violently from side to side when driving over 50 miles per hour, especially when cruise control is used.several mechanics could not diagnose problem so it has continued to get worse over past 2 years.now, through internet, learn this is a very common problem in this model, requires replacement of bushings and is known to the manufacturer who has taken no action.

Sudden unintended acceleration (sua) on feb 24, 2001.after coming to a full stop with transmission in "drive" and remaining stopped for approximately five seconds, the engine speed suddenly went from idle to 5000-6000 rpm.vehicle remained essentially stationary due to spinning tires on wet pavement and the immediate harder application of brakes, but a collision would have resulted had the pavement been dry.engine continued to race for approximately five seconds.i set the transmission to "neutral" in reaction to the sua which may have stopped the sua or may have just been coincidental with the sua stopping on its own.i took the vehicle to the nissan dealer in annapolis, md on feb 26, 2001; dealer found no stored error codes and could not duplicate the problem.both nissan consumer affairs and the dealer told me that nothing more could be done until dealer could repeat the sua. Nissan consumer affairs has a record of the incident, as does the dealer.this not a case of throttle/brake pedal misapplication.i suspect that the cruise control system is the cause of the sua because i rarely use cruise control when driving this vehicle.i was using cruise control for a prolonged period of time immediately before the incident approximately 25 miles/20 minutes uninterrupted.cruise control was most likely set to on when the incident occurred but i did not think to verify this at the time of the incident.also, and very notably, there have been two separate occasions after the sua incident where the cruise control on light was illuminated when the engine was started (cruise set light was off).the cruise control on light should be off whenever the engine is initially started. I will provide vin upon request.i dont have the vin available at this time.other vehicle particulars: automatic transmission, se model.

Fuel/throttle control: i experienced a "sudden unintended acceleration" incident in july of 2002. I was in the process of head in parking and was moving very slowly while applying brakes the vehicle accelerated over curbing into a wall. The vehicle stopped, the engine stopped running, and air bags did not deploy. The vehicle is a 2001 nissan pathfinder with less than 8,000 miles on it. I have read of other incidents like this for this vehicle and am now afraid to drive it. No other incident has occured. I have never experience this situation before and i originally thought that i stepped on the acceletator the same time as the brake. Now i believe i did not step on the accelerator but for some reason the vehicle malfunctioned. I have not taken this into the dealer because i have no confidence in their ability to diagnose the problem as it appears to be very intermittent. This is a serious problem that is potentially lethal and cannot be detected by normal maintenance and happens so quickly that the driver cannot react to avoid a serious collision. There were no injuries (this time) but vehicle damage was $500.

Vehicle suddenly accelerates while applying brakes and stopped or slowed--causing loss of control of car

Consumer stated that they would simultaneously press on the gas and brake pedal without notice causing a distraction to the consumer. Dealer notified ts

2001 pathfinder safety issue.this problem pertains to the spacing between the gas and brake pedal on the 2001 nissan pathfinder. An accident occurred with our pathfinder directly related to this problem. Because of the close spacing, the gas pedal was mistaken for the brake pedal while entering a parking lot and the driver panicked and the vehicle struck a wall. Asimilar problem occurred with me. While driving into a parking space, i braked but my foot was partially on the gas pedal causing the vehicle to lurch. Fortunately, i discovered the problem in time and prevented an accident. The accident which occurred was the driver's first "at fault" accident in 25 years of driving.the clear distance between the brake and gas pedal on the pathfinder is 2 3/8". On other cars, i measured the clear distance as 3". This extra distance makes a significant difference in distinguishing the brake and gas pedals. I believe that this spacing is a design flaw in the pathfinder and creates an unsafe condition.i recommend that nissan recall these vehicles and replace the existing brake pedal and lever arm with a lever which is offset to increase the space between the brake and gas pedals. At this time, i will drive this vehicle without shoes or wear a soft sole shoe so that i can feel the difference with the brake pedal and gas pedal. A hard sole shoe causes both pedals to feel the same, and because of the close proximity of the pedals, is the source of confusion and safety concern.

2001 nissan pathfinder. Consumer writes to inform that while in cruise control vehicle gradually accelerated to 91 miles per hour, which was approximately 25 m.p.h above the cruise control setting *tgwthe consumer stated an attempt to brake had little effect. After switching the gear in neutral and applying both feet hard on the brake, she was finally able to pull over to the shoulder and ultimately stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The mechanic informed the consumer the throttle cable flipped over the top of the butterfly valve. He adjusted the tension for less slack to keep the cable from bounding up inside the throttle body.

Whilebrakes were appliedvehicle accelerated suddenly and unexpectedly, twice resulting incollisions. Manufacturer and dealer have been notified.

The drivers side window shattered while driving on the freeway.there was no other vehicle in close proximity and it didn't seem that any object hit the glass prior to being shattered.there was some bruises on the drivers arm from shattered glass.went directly to tustin nissan service department who stated the glass not covered by warranty, no matter what happens.while still in the dealer, i called nissan customer service and reported the incident.nissan rep said that it is not possible for the glass to shatter.i called againweek later after finding out that the same incident has happened to other people driving the same model and year.i stated my safety concerns.nissan customer service rep said they would not discuss the case again and hung up .*nlm*dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*769304

While driving truck on a side street, the rear door passenger side window exploded/ shattered. My daughter got out of the vehicle and saw no people or anything that would cause this.i reported the event to the dealer to no avail. They claim "impossible, something had to hit it". I then reported to nissan customer hotline, also to no avail. They claim it is not covered under the nissan warranty.

While driving over average bumpy road i heard a loud pop and noticed a tiny crack in bottom of windshield. This crack continued to cover the whole windshield. I took the suv to a very well respected windshield repair shop and after their exam gave me 2possible reasons for this failure. #1 reason insufficient strength of the glass. It is very thin for a windshield (ford windshield recall) unable to handle the stress of normal and expected road surface conditions. #2 improper installation . This windshield was not struck with any object. *nlm

My family in the carwhen this occur. What if this occur while on the highway at higher speeds. My truck only has 106523 miles and was scheduled for a pa inspection.
