Loose connection caused horn to remain on.
While traveling on highway and without prior warning vehicle will stall. Also, electrical locks will not stay locked.dealership is aware of problems.
Consumerwas traveling at approximately 70 mph and smelled smoke.consumer pulledvehicle over, and saw smoke coming out offront, andhood was "bubbled".vehicle burned completely, andwas considered to be a total loss.consumer was advised that the fire was caused by a malfunction in the fuel delivery system.
Horn assembly is inoperative in an emergency orwhen making a sudden stop. Whenhorn is needed the horn will not sound.consumer has contacteddealer, dealer has linked the problem to an electrical short. Please provide any further details.
Electrical dash fire totalled vehicle.ttconsumer's insurance rep wrote in stating their expert's opinion is that the fire started in the wiring harness, however nissan is currently investigating.

The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. While driving approximately 50 mph, a clicking noise was heard from the outside of the vehicle. The failure recurred sporadically before progressing to apermanent occurrence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who advised the contact that the failure was contributed to the exhaust manifold, which required replacement. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 162,000.
1995 nissan pathfinder frame broke in half.***no answer required***. *mron june 19th the consumer had all four pneumatic air ride shocks replaced along with all the belts and water pump.on the way home from having these repairs done the frame broke in half.the entire frame had rusted through.the consumer believes the frame was made with inferior metal.

Exhaust leak, could result in a fire.
Intermittent surging, stalling.
I was told by a mechanic that this an extremely common problem due to poor manufacturing and this problem is under investigation. Didi they ever do a recall? i was also told that if i fixed the manifold and head bolts that this problem would repeat itself. Is there any thing i can do ? thank you.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 25mph uphill, the carpet around the gear shift suddenly erupted into flames.the flames were extinguished by the driver with water and the authorities were not contacted.the vehicle was towed to the contact's home and later transferred to the insurance agency for inspection.upon inspection it was determined the heat shield was missing from the catalytic converter and the floor board in that area was completely rusted through allowing extreme heat to contact the carpet.the contact is concerned about the dealer selling the vehicle without first inspecting for safety problems.the rust could have easily been viewed by simply inspecting the undercarriage.
Vehicle stalled while driving. When this occurredconsumer coasted the truck off the road. Upon exiting the truckconsumer noticed gasoline leaking out of the smog filter.truck was towed to a mechanic after the fire department had secured it for travel.mechanic indicated that one or two ofthe valves in the fuel system, and the fuel cap could be the cause.both valves, fuel cap, and the smog filter were replaced, but the failure recurred.
At my 60k service the mechanic diagnosed a faulty exhaust manifold and replaced it.fortunately, this was covered by my extended warranty.i've come to realize that is was a common problem with nissan pathfinders although no recalls have been instituted.i'm concerned that this will reoccur again as my vehicle approached 100k.
Right oem manifold #4, installed by nissan is warped and leaking exhaust again. This is now the 6th one to be replaced counting both right and left.all replaced using oem equipment, purchased and installed by authorized nissan dealer
Right exhaust manifold replaced, then 40000 or so miles later bolts broken on both the right and left manifold. Reverse in the transmission did not work, had to replace the complete transmission. Drivers sunvisor is bad design, you have problems seeing when it is down.
Last february it was the right side exhaust manifold bolts.this year it was the left side.fortunately i knew what it was when i heard that familiar ticking noise.again, i'm told this is a common problem with the nissan pathfinder, and i could have severely damaged my engine had i not brought it in when i had.
Every time vehicle is started a ticking noise happens. After warmed up noise goes away. Noise in exhaust manifold. An intermittent problem that happens when weather is cold. Not at dealership yet.
Passenger side front most cylinder had one exhaust manifold stud break off and after carefully inspecting other studs on passenger side at least one more is broken.seems like a common problem, but very expensive to fix also very frustrating!!!
There exists a condition where the exhaust manifold warps, shearing the bolts.this is a $500+ repair job.this has been known to nissan since (at least) 1992.yet they continued to manufacture a flawed design.is this not fraud?nhtsa states on the website that safety-related failures must be repaired by the mfg- in this case, if the vehicle is at idle exhaust fumes enter the cabin, and can suffocate those inside.
Right exhaust manifold leaks causing the fumes to enter the passenger compartment.
Engine was making a ticking noise, so i brought it into the dealership and was told it was the right-side exhaust manifold bolts that had broken off.i was told this was a common problem, and if not caught in time would cause extensive damage to my engine.
While the vehicle was parked fluid was leaking from underneath the vehicle. Consumer tookvehicle to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that the manifold needed to be replaced.
Right side manifold failed, bolts broken in engine. This is a known nissan defect and subject of many complaints.
Exhaust manifold bolt broken, also happened 5/00 with right manifold.
There is a ticking noise every time the vehicle is started, which lessens as the engine warms up. I was told it was an exhaust leak caused by a bolt that had been sheared off causing a gap between the exhaust and the manifold. Also, that this was a very common problem reported on pathfinder's.
Exhaust leak at right exhaust manifold. Three studs failed allowing manifold to pull away from cylinder head causing head warpage. Fourth occurrence on same side of manifold.
Exhaust manifold bolts broken. Obviuosly nissan is aware that this is a constant problem for pathfinder owners. Their neglect at addressing this situation compounds my frustration. Wilson nissan in logan utah espects me to replace them at my cost every time they break, which could happen as soon as they are replaced. I suggest a class action lawsuit from all owners of these vehicles is in order to get nissan to address this problem. Had known of this i never would have bought a nissan product, and i never will again.
Manifold warps breaking bolts & leaks exhaust. This time instead of the bolts breaking they are pulled out of the cylinder head requiring the head to be replaced.
Same problem as everyone else with a 1995 pathfinder - manifold bolts have broken and a very expensive repair is necessary. It's been bad for a long time and i've just ignored the ticking sound.
Exhaust manifold studs broke on passenger's side of engine. Found ita common problem that nissan won't fix.
Problem with exhaust manifold bolts that secure it to engine head.nissan is aware of the design flaws. Manifold directs hot exhaust gas back into the exhaust system to be burned or expelled from the car.no recall, but nissan knows the angle of the manifold curve is misaligned.gas hits the metal head on and overheats the manifold and studs.the heat warps the metal and shears the bolts which should keep the part secure.
Driver and passenger side exhaust manifolds have failed and have been replaced. Carbon monoxide was entering directly into the passenger compartment and forced me to pay the ~$900 to have them repaired. Attempting to receive reimbursement from manufacturer. *nlm
Three bolts fromengine manifold broke while driving at highway speed of 55 mph.dealer/manufacturer were not notified at this time. A mechanice at a garage stated the bolts are made of aluminum and that they break very easily.
This problem involves the exhaust manifold and the bolts that secure it to the engine head. Thousands of mechanics around the world will testify that nissan is well aware of the design flaw inherent in the manifold. Heres what happenssuper heated exhaust fires out from the piston head and is captured by the manifold. But, due to the angle of the manifold curve (the bend in the metal piping) the gas hits the metal too head on and over-heats the manifold.the heat is so intense that it warp the metal. The toque of the bending metal is so strong it literally shears the bolts that are supposed to secure the manifold to the head.the metal should never get that hot, yet it does solely because of nissans design flaw.according to the nissan dealer i talked with.this problem then leaks carbon monoxide into the car.one mechanic said he sees maybe 4 of these every two weeks! (pathfinder and maximas)this problem is costing consumers a lot of money.please help.
@ 50k left manifold failure - replace/covered by warranty.@ 65k right manifold failure, not covered by warranty, paid out of pocket to replace.now, @ 90k another manifold failure. *nlm
Exhaust leak on right side due to cracked bolts and warped manifold.there is a posted recall for the 1996- 1998 pathfinder that have this same problem, why would this not cover earlier years if this is a known manufacturer defect.
Exhaust manifold bolts are failing, causing exhaust leaks. This is a well known and documented problem (tsb94041) that any mechanic will attest to. Total repair is 800.00 for both sides. Nissan refuses to offer any help in the matter. Carbon monoxide may enter the vehicle if it is not fixed.
The left and right exhaust manifolds warped.
Bolts are snapping off and the engine manifoldis breaking.dealer was contacted, and stated because the consumer went to another dealer nissan will not be held liable.
Exhaust manifold stud broken
Exhaust manifold studs broke, causing exhaust leak on right & left sides of engine.
While drivingheard noise from the exhaustsystem, and exhaust fumes were coming intovehicle.vehicle taken todealer, and informed consumer thatbolts on exhaust manifold had broken off. Warranty expired, and there was no recall.feel free to provide any further information.
Manifold gasket leaking (i also owned a '91 pathfinder that had to have each manifold gasket replaced twice) .several transmission parts req'd replacement as well as the computer that drives the transmission.
I have recently had to replace my right exhaust manifold due to a very noisy "leak" including exhaust leaking into the passenger compartment (rotten egg smell) with the ventilation system running!!! not a good situation to have.the mechanic at town north nissan (austin, tx) said that either the manifold bolts or the gasket failure caused the manifold to distort, causing the leak. After 2 weeks, i have noticed that the left manifold is now leaking at the gasket too.the labor and 2 new manifolds will cost a total of $1000 to fix.i have talked to a lot of nissan pathfinder owners that have noticed the samething.see web site http://saturn.guestworld.tripod.lycos.com/wgb/wgbview.dbm?owner=pathqafor more information.
Bolts on exhaust broke.
Left and right exhaust manifold studs failed.
Exhaust manifolds have both been replaced due to them warping and the leaking exhaust. They were replaced at 75,000 and 90,191 miles.now at 143500 the right one is warped and leaking exhaust again.from what i have learned, this had been an ongoing problem with nissan and this engine in the trucks and pathfinders.none of the work done to repair these problems has been covered by any warranty.
Air conditioner failed.
Upon turning the head lights high beams on they defuse the light, even tryed using a brighter bulb with 20%, but does not remedy the problem.nlm consumer states the mechanic said the problem was caused by either the lens or the reflective surface that focuses the light in the composite head light unit had deteriorated.
Baker plate rusted and wedged into brakes and rotors - literally tore everything up.. Cv boot damaged- rotors defaced- brakes defaced- all need replacing and mind you the brakes were newer had this not rusted i would not be having this expense. I have had problems with this suv and rusted frame. Both side rails are torn off -due to rust the gas tank has had to be fixed twice due to the frame rubbing on it. I love this suv and am highly disappointed that although built to last its truly not lasting.. I am shocked and amazed thatat the rust and deterioration of frame . Nissan really needs to help us resolve these ongoing problemsthe danger in gas tank leaks due to frame rotting is extreme. I have had my gas tank fixed twice - my nissan is literally falling apart.
When i went to change my brakes on our nissan pathfinder i saw that the entire frame was completely rusted out and full of holes, the gas tank and rear end have fallen down and are hanging on by the frame. This vehicle was used for the transportation of my family, and i was told by an engineer that we are very fortunate to be alive, and very fortunate that we did not kill any innocent people. There has to be a recall on this vehicle. What kind of country do we live in that puts the lives of its citizens in danger for a car company? i pray not this one, please act.

The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated the fuel level indicator would not read fuel levels below half full. In addition, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer advised the fuel tank sensor would need to be replaced to correct the failure. There were no recalls on the vehicle and any repairs would be at the owners expense. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. The failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was 30,000.
The fuel pump has been replaced three times on the vehicle, the fuel pump needs replacement for the fourth time. *mjs
The fuel pump has been replaced three times on the vehicle, the fuel pump needs replacement for the fourth time. *mjs
The gas tank has expanded from its normal size, and is now stressing the weld that seals the two sides together.dealer has been contacted.
The fuel tank is cracked.the vehicle was never in an accident and was never off road.i called nissan and they agreed to pay for 1/2 the repair.this sounds like an inherent defect.the amount of fumes that accumulated in my garage was pretty extensive.could be a serious safety problem.please let me know if there are other reported cases.thanks.
Undamaged and non-corroded fuel tank leaks from the bottom.'dimple' where tank was stamped upon manufacture has small crack which slowly leaks fuel.must keep vehicle outside or garage door open or fumes build up over time.if left parked in one spot puddle forms under tank.dt
Whenconsumer fillsvehicle with fuel he smells gas for a while.
There was a gas smell coming from the outside rear of the vehicle. Dealership pulled gas tank, but didn't find a leak.upon further inspection ofvehicle noticed that gas was seeping threw5 studs located in the bottom of the fueltank.

While driving at aprroximately 70 mph hood came loose , flew up, hitting top of windshield, and causing loss of vehicle control.
Vehicle was parked with engine off, emergency brake applied, as consumer was walking away from vehicle she heard a noise, turned around, and saw vehicle going backward. Vehicle came to a stop when it hit a metal divider in parking lot. Emergency brake was still applied. Damage to vehicle unknown at this time. No injuries.

Transmission failed.
Automatic trans/ no reverse have had numerous problems with trans now no reverse. Warning no signs of things to come, just drove from point a to point b (about 1/2 a mile) and reverse was gone. Have discussed this problem with several other 1995 pathfinder owners and they have had the same problems.
Right exhaust manifold replaced, then 40000 or so miles later bolts broken on both the right and left manifold. Reverse in the transmission did not work, had to replace the complete transmission. Drivers sunvisor is bad design, you have problems seeing when it is down.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact was driving 60 mph when the vehicle independently shifted into second gear before decelerating and becoming unresponsive to acceleration attempts. All of the warning lights were illuminated on the instrumental panel as the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and it was towed to the dealer. The dealer advised that radiator fluid was leaking into the transmission and both components would need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was then contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.
My 95 nissan pathfinder will not go into the reverse gear.the dealer service person says it could be a solenoid switch.they were not certain of this.i have found several other people who own pathfinders have encountered this problem.it is not an isolated incident.
My 2005 nissan path finder had a problem with the radiator that led to the transmission failing. They new about this problem for a while and so do all the dealers and transmission shops. The did nothing and now only cover it to 80k.
Transmission will bogg down and gradually build up speed and also will not change gears.
Abs warning light on almost always. Had front and rear brakes replaced soon after purchase in oct. '99. Same problems with mannifold as many others are reporting. Pass. Door lock does not work with key. Anti-theft alarm goes on when trying to start in very cold conditions. Pulls to the right frequently evn after having it checked for problems. Also beginning to have problems with gear shifting. When turning wheels to exit or entera driveway in drive or reverse often there is a very loud grinding sound, a freind with a nissan pickup has the same problem. When asking the dealer about it, they reported it is nothing to be worried about- "they all make that sound".

Transmission does not go into reverse. Dealer has inspected the vehicle.
Bought vehicle in nov. '98.had to replace transmission in or around april '99.was told by several people that nissan was having a problem with their transmissions that year.dealership replaced with a new transmission only because we had purchased an extended warranty.on august 7, the transmission once again failed only after a little over a year.we thought it was still under warranty so we had it towed to the same dealership.was told that the warranty had expired.they said they would pull transmission to see if they could tell what it was.in the meantime, i started calling other places to check on pricing.was told that the transmission had some kind of bolt (?) or something that was a defect in their transmissions but were still knowlingly replacing these transmissions without correcting that problem.we bought a nissan because we trusted the reliabilty of the make.now we are going to be around $2,000.00 out, plus sitting on the side of the road for a couple of hours and the inconvienience (we were to take our vacation this week, now we can't).if this site is not the correct place to make this kind of complaint i apologize for taking up your time.i think there should be some recourse for us.we do not have a lot of money and this will greatly set us back which was the purpose of going with a nissan.
Consumer states when traveling in bad weather conditions when the four wheel drive is needed. Vehicle pulls to the right, causing poor control of vehicle. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer has yet to determine the cause of the problem. Please provide any further details.
My 1995 nissan pathfinder's transmission has had to be replaced do to failure of nissan in the design of the cooling tubes. After contacting several transmission shops i was told this is a problem affecting all nissan transmissions up to yr 98. That is when nissan fixed the problem by making the cooling tubes larger diameter. They should have had a recall on this but did not. The reverse gear is the first one to burn out. If you can get 125k on any of these transmissions you are very lucky. The transmission shops say to make it over 150k is a miracle. I made it to 189k.make nissan recall this product!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ts

Whenever shifting vehicle into another gear, it would be jumping.casing was slipping from differential. Differential neededchafing due to dropping. Two dealers could not do it due to lack of correct tools.
While driving at 55 mph consumer drove over a dip. This caused consumer to lose control of the vehicle and run off the road. However, consumer was able to regain control of the vehicle. When attempting to get the vehicle back on the road the two front tires hit the pavement, causing the vehicle to roll over three times.driver was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.consumer?s mother stated that, driver's side door opened, anddriver's side seat belt disconnected, which caused the driver to be thrown out of the vehicle. Prior to the accident the deceased contacted nissan about a problem with the vehicle's door.the victims mother believes that the pathfinder doors and seat belts should be investigated and recalled.

My mechanic told me the frame on my 1995 nissan pathfinder is rotted out and way beyond safe to drive at all.the extreme rust problem is at the strut assembly which could easily break and the vehicle loose steering function.the rear frame area is almost completely gone. Some online research has shown this to be an extremely widespread problem in nissan pathfinders. Although it's an older truck, it's a design flaw and makes it dangerous to drive. Toyota had a similar problem and took care of it, i contacted nissan and they seem unwilling to do anything about this safety hazard.
Anti-theft alarm system is no longer operating properly.
1995 nissan pathfinder has severe frame rot. Very unsafe to operate.

Frame rusted out on my pathfinder failed inspection. Only owned it 11 months. I have ownedand leased 6 nissan in the past and nissan will not even respond to my complaint. If you go to the website (nissan comments )this site has over 100 other concerned customers with exact same issue with no response from nissan.
Frame section above rear wheels is rusted out as with so many other nissan pathfinders (1995 model).this is an accident waiting to happen as the suspension components are barely attached to the frame anymore.there was no warning of this problem nor is the vehicle driven off-road.
This car cannot go over 80 mph.when driving high speed on "open" road, car starts to vibrate wildly.also, just heard pop and had car at mechanics immediately.checked and found driver's side strut rod was broken.replaced this strut 204,000 miles.owner of this car is lucky to still drive this car, as this car gives a really rocky, rough ride, especially at any speed over 50 mph.

Nissan 1995 pathfinder has two holes caused by corrosion directly under the rear passenger seats that allowed several items (spare tire jack parts) to fall onto the road. They also allowed automobile exhaust to enter the inside of the car when the exhaust pipe corroded through and separated from the muffler. Also, a massive amount of corrosion on the rear portion of the frame from just before the wheel well to the end of the frame.the muffler has been repaired but the frame corrosion appears to massive to repair and the vehicle will be scrapped.
Bought a nissan pathfinder, 1995. Got a certified mechanic to look under the car and there is excessive rust and frame rot. They said that the car will not pass inspection the way it is and is unsafe for road use.
The entire frame of this vehicle is so rotted that my mechanic told me not to drive it. Nissan of north america had me bring it to one of their dealerships to inspect it. They took photos of the problem and told me it was unfixable. They then told me that they have not encountered others with the same problem. I went on line and read thousands of complaints about pathfinder frame rot.
My chassis is rotted beyond repair can this be take in car of at a nissan repair shop and is this vehicle under the recall list?
I have a 1995 nissan pathfinder. I discovered severe frame rust a little over a week ago both below my rear seat which covers two areas. Just yesterday i also discovered from rust behind the right rear tire. Why is it that visually from the outside the car looks great, it runs great, but the thing is falling apart where you can't see it? that to me is dangerous and i think it's about time nissan takes care of this problem. This could be a real safety issue.
I own a 1995 nissan pathfinder se. Other people are known to have this issue as well. The frame rots out extremely fast and deems the vehicle unsafe. People sink their own hard earned money into their vehicle only to find out it's no longer safe and nissan's does nothing about it nor takes responsibility. If toyota can step up why not nissan? it's a top 5 auto maker for gods sake...

Only after 2 months it passed a vehicle inspection order i noticed a 4 inch hole surrounded by rust and lots of it, i have been doing some reading online and this is a very common problem in lots of 1995 nissan pathfinders. I dont see how there is not a recall on this problem, i feel like i have been cheated by nissan just being cheap and i find it not acceptable
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that while having the vehicle inspected by an independent repair shop, he was informed that portions of the frame were rusted and corroded. The corroded portions of the frame were repaired. The failure had since recurred on various other portions of the frame. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 110,000. The vin was unavailable.
While traveling on highway and without prior warning vehicle will stall. Also, electrical locks will not stay locked.dealership is aware of problems.
I have owned my nissan for 4 years.144,400 miles on it.did not know anything about the extensive frame rot until i had to get a new starter put on.at that time, i was informed i should not drive it due to the extension rust and rot.but, when it's the only 4x4 you have, need it to get to work on days of snow.after reading all the complaints, i feel that nissan should issue a recall.i have contacted my attorney generals office.they contacted nissan.nissan told them that there are no recalls on my vehicle and they can't do anything about it and will not help in any repairs.
My mechanic told me the frame on my 1995 nissan pathfinder is rotted out and way beyond safe to drive at all.we take care of this the same as other vehicles we own, some that are older, and there is no frame rot problems with them. Some online research has shown this to be an extremely widespread problem in nissan pathfinders. Although it's an older truck, it's a design flaw and makes it dangerous to drive. Toyota had a similar problem and took care of it, i contacted nissan and they we willing to do nothing.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for state inspection when he was advised that the frame was severely rusted. The vehicle was not repaired and was deemed as unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure and current mileage was approximately 160,000.
I am submitting this complaint for a friend, it concerns a 1995 nissan pathfinder, and whose frame is rusting out, to the point that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. The frame on both sides of the truck, at the rear wheels has rusted away more then 50%. After doing some research on the internet i find this to be a common complaint with other owners of this vehicle, and includes multiple years. I believe that nissan should be held responsible for the faulty manufacturing on this frame. Thank you
It is a absolute injustice that nothing has ever been done about the frame rust issue on the 1995 nissan pathfinders. I just purchased one a month ago thinking i was getting a good deal! the exterior of the frame looked to be solid. I was putting new brakes on when i grabbed the frame from the inside for leverage. My hand went right through. The best part is the truck was inspected! how is this possible? i live in schuylkill county and frequent joe's u pull it salvage yard. There are literally a hundred or more pathfinders in the yard that look very nice with no frame left. I have also stumbled across numerous forums with thousands literally thousands of complaints on the same issue. I guess nhtsa will just ignore the problem until a certain number is reached of fatalities. We have to wait until there is imminent proof that the deaths were due to structural failure of the frame.
We have a 1995 nissan pathfinder that had the frame repaired for corrosion twice in the past.it is currently in the shop for possibly a third repair.the mechanic indicated that this is a pervasive problem with this model of nissan.since toyota has recalled their vehicles for similar problem, the nissan problem should also be investigated to protect the public.
I own a 1995 nissan pathfinder xe with undercarriage frame rot. I paid $500 to have one section repaired but the remainder of the frame is in jeopardy of rotting as well. The truck still runs fine with 125,000 on it and i want to keep it but i believe nissan should issue a safety recall. Nissan should either repair the frame or reimburse me the money i've paid. This is clearly a design flaw.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for routine maintenance when the technician advised that the frame was completely rusted and was deemed as unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was contacted but the contact had not yet received any response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 147,000. The vin was unavailable.
Subframe of vehicle rusted, allowing a hole to form in betweenengine and passenger compartments.heat from engine/exhaust systemscould causecarpet in the passenger compartment to catch on fire.please provide any additional information/attachments.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated that when the vehicle went through state inspection, it was discovered that the frame rail was missing. After inspecting under the vehicle, the contact was informed that the rails had rusted and fell off. The contact planned to have the vehicle inspected at an authorized dealership. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph he noticed a banging sound and that the steering wheel was loose. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated the front passenger's side strut fractured due to corrosion and the front driver's side strut was also corroded. The mechanic stated the rear frame was severely corroded. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.
I own a 1995 nissan pathfinder that was purchased in 1997.since that time i had to have the frame welded 2 times in order to pass inspection and to keep it on the road.this was done because this problem was never covered under warranty and i had to absorb the cost on my own.this apparently is a widespread problem with this vehicle based on conversations with other owners of the same model of vehicle and repairmen who deal with frame repairs and mechanics. This not only is an economic issue but also a safety issue because if the frames have corrosion problems the frame can collapse during a collision because the stability of the frame was compromised by the corrosion problem. Recently, toyota has voluntarily recalled 1995 trucks for the same problem and because of this recall i feel that nissan should be compelled to do the same.please investigate this allegation because i think you will find it very credible.
As i was leaving work i made to right turn to head towards the highway when i heard low pop from the rear of my vehicle. Then the vehicle started to pull to the right so i pull off onto the shoulder. I look underneath the vehicle and notice that rear axel had separated from the from. I didn't feel safe in putting that vehicle back on the road so i call for a tow.
Took my car in for inspection sticker & was told the whole frame was rotted/rusted out so bad he didn't even recommend i drive it off the lot. Having a small child i was afraid to drive it & immediately went out to purchase another vehicle.
Pathfinder frame is rusting apart.nissan should hold a recall of events.
While inspecting the underside of the vehicle, noticed that holes are rusted right through the frame in the area over the rear axle.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder. The contact noticed that the frame was corroding and could potentially crack. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer who stated that the vehicle was very dangerous to drive and not to drive it until it was repaired. The frame was repaired at the owners expense. The failure mileage was 150,000 and the current mileage was 182,000.
The truck frame has stress fractures and indications that it would critically fail in an accident.most decay is from within the frame so there are little signs it is occurring. Once i began hammering on the frame a three foot long hole was created.after checking the internet, it seems this is common to almost all trucks in corrosion prone areas of the country.i would expect this to be a high risk for rear passengers.there have been reports of failure when driving.i am unsure if there have been accidents or injuries.
1959 nissan, pathfinder rotted frame. Did not know that there was a manufacturer problem with these vehicles. I went to get my muffler system replaced and was told not to spend the money because the frame was completely rotted and was unsafe to drive and would not pass inspection in june. He then proceed to put his hand through the rot in the different areas of the frame.i was told if i were to hit a pot hole that would be the end of the car.the car did not have any rot on the body-was in excellent running condition and always replacing anything that needed to-was always taken care of.that's when i was told that this was a defect that nissan knew about but never did anything or notified any owner about it. I was not able to take anyone in the car with me after this in fear that i would have an accident and someone would get hurt.i was forced to buy another car before by june inspection or would no vehicle at all.
Consumer states undercarriage is rusted, vehicle was inspected and found that frame and both bumpers were rusted bad, due to possibile road salt conditions consumer disagrees that rust is due to road salt conditions he states where he travels, very seldomly are roads icy or snowy.
My 1995 nissan pathfinder has very little rust on the body anywhere but the frame is beyond repair because of rust. The back half of the frame is terrible. It rattles and shakes with every bump in the road. I had my mechanic look at it and he recommended that ishould stay out of it for fear it would fall apart going down the road.everything else on this vehicle is good as can be expected. Hate to give it up.
1992-1995 nissan pathfinder frames are rusting away the only way to repair the problem is to replaced the chassis. It does not matter were the car resides.
While washing my 1995 nissan pathfinder le, i noticed that the main frame rails are rusted out. This is in the arch above the rear axle area and is rusting from the inside of the box section moving outward. Therefore, the damage in completely invisible until it works its way through the heavy metal of the frame. The damage that i can easily see is about 10 inches long and up the whole height of the rail. Feeling with my fingers i can feel rust all along the interior.this vehicle is a local vehicle in wichita, kansas and has not experienced excessive road salting. I have been the owner for 5 years and know the previous owner. This vehicle has always been stored under cover throughout its entire life. Night time in a garage and in a covered parking garage during working hours. The exterior paint is like new, but the frame is rotting out.no corrections to remedy the rusted frame has been carried out as of yet.
Vehicles steel frame completely rusted through causing it to sever. Occurred while driving. The hanging metal parts then severed my brake line causing leak, endangering my safety. This damage is not due to owner negligence. Nearly all owners of 1995nissanpathfinders experience similar issue. Nissan has not issued a recall. This problem endangers the driver and may be fatal. A recall should be put in place. The vehicle runs fine but is immobile due to faulty and corroded frame.
Vehicle was being driven down the expressway. A loud bang was heard from the rear of the vehicle and it started to handle real bad and became difficult to control. Brought vehicle to a shop. Inspected vehicle and found that the frame is rotted, the section of frame that holds the upper 2 rear control arms in place had torn away from the frame causing a very unsafe condition.
Defect-the frame above rear wheels is rusted out to the point of imminent failure.i fortunately was alerted to this possibility by another pathfinder owner and uncovered the fist sized holes in the frame above the rear suspension.had i not been looking for it this could have led to a horrific crash.in speaking to frame repair specialists and other pathfinder owners i have found that this is a very common problem in the 93-95 model years.
Severe frame rust at rear axle, behind rear wheels, rusted through on 3 sides of frame rail, rear end of body bounces off frame when hit bumps, slams down loud and hard in back.the consumer stated he heard that a combination of poor steel from china and problems with the coating process have led to the frame rot that is commonplace with pathfinders from1993-2005.updated 07/26/11
Rusted frame on a nissan pathfinder 1994 and 1995.
1995 nissan pathfinder with a rusted frame. Customer states that now her vehicle cannot be driven. Customer believes that this should be investigated as to why it is rusted out.
The contact owns a 1995 nissan pathfinder.while driving approximately 25 mph, the contact heard a loud noise underneath the vehicle.she pulled to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic.the vehicle was diagnosed as having structural frame damage.the vehicle is currently inoperable and has not been repaired.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved. Updated 11/06/08 the frame had rusted. Updated 11/07/08.
We own a 95 nissan pathfinder.last week the rear frame and rear stabilizers broke in 2.truck cant be driven,as when that happened it pulled and severed the rear brake lines.this is a common problem i have since found out on these. Toyota has a similar problem with their frames on their tacoma trucks.they have a recall on them,to get them off the road. Nissan needs to do the same, imo, before someone gets killed..their are many stories about this on the internet. Just google nissan pathfinder frame rails for more. Thanks.
Purchased a used 1995 nissan pathfinder privately for my son. Discovered a gas tank leak, we bought a new gas tank and upon having it installed the mechanic and collision expert said the frame was so rusty that the vehicle is unsafe for my son to drive. Upon examination of the pennsylvania state police the pa inspection sticker is illegal. Now i have an unsafe vehicle which my son cannot drive and i am out the money so i cannot afford to buy another vehicle. The man that sold it to me has vanished and his number disconnected. I think nissan needs to recoup me for me losses since my loss is due to faulty and premature rusting of the frames in their pathfinders of those years. Please help me.
I first noticed that the frame on my car has rusting away a couple of years ago.now, the rear of the frame on both sides is 50% gone!the front frame on both sides has rusted through at the wheel well.there is extensive rust on the entire frame.the car has never been in any accident and i have kept it in the garage it's entire life.i had it detailed every spring and every fall.i called nissan to complain and they told me they would do nothing since my car was so old.i purchased this car new and purchased extended warranty of 6 years or 100,000 miles.it has less than 94,000 miles on it now.i feel the car is unsafe to drive.i strongly feel nissan is responsible for this defect and should make some effort to rectify this matter with me.the first muffler on this car outlasted the frame.
I purchased a 1995 nissan pathfinder se in june, 2007 for $3000.in 2010 i had to have the starter replaced.this vehicle was loaded onto a trailer to have it towed to a friend of mine to have the new starter put on.when he brought the vehicle back to me, after the starter was put on, he had me look at the frame.it was so rusted out that i was afraid to drive it.but i had to, only vehicle to drive.you could put your fist through the rust.after going online and doing some research, i found that alot of 1995 nissan pathfinder owners have had the same problem.i contacted nissan north america and was told there was nothing that they could do.no recalls have been done.i also contacted the indiana attorney generals office and got them involved.still no solution since no recall has been done.finally in june of 2011, i sold it to a junk yard for $250.yes, i could have sold it to a private party, but did not want to be responsible if they drove it and the frame broke while driving.i would like to know if there can be an investigation in this.toyota had the same problem and reimbursed those people at 150% of book value.
The frame has holes in it. It's a 95 pathfinder with low mileage. 133,545 miles. I take great care of my vehicle. The outside and inside are amazing condition but the frame is rusting out and now effecting the way it drives. This has been reported by thousands of customers and nothing has been done. It's not acceptable. How can this be ignored when this many people complain about there frame getting holes in it due to materials used.

My chassis is rotted beyond repair can this be take in car of at a nissan repair shop and is this vehicle under the recall list?
This car cannot go over 80 mph.when driving high speed on "open" road, car starts to vibrate wildly.also, just heard pop and had car at mechanics immediately.checked and found driver's side strut rod was broken.replaced this strut 204,000 miles.owner of this car is lucky to still drive this car, as this car gives a really rocky, rough ride, especially at any speed over 50 mph.

Gas leaks after engine turning off engine; afraid of explosion (major safety issue).[xxx] from koeppel nissan, queens, ny has asked truck to be taken back from dealership without fixing since "it has not been recalled". The unit also has severe frame and rail corrosion which can contribute to fatality.suspension/steering giving excessive feedback.have spent over $2000 in the past week (outside the dealership) to fix the problems.pls help immediately. The vehicle pulls to the right.
Vehicle has been pulling to the right ever since we purchased it,several wheel alignments have been performed but never have they resolved the problem.
When driving on an open highway 65--75 mph the vehicle feels like its tipping over always to the left. If passing or a truck passes the vehicle feels like its tipping over also to the left.
Pulls to the right at all speeds.many alignment checks show nothing wrong. Whats up?
Shock absorbers failed.
Frame section above rear wheels is rusted out as with so many other nissan pathfinders (1995 model).this is an accident waiting to happen as the suspension components are barely attached to the frame anymore.there was no warning of this problem nor is the vehicle driven off-road.
On august 5, 1999, my husband purchased 4 general grabber ap radials from wtc (wholesale tire company) located at 2250 hempstead tpke., east meadow, new york(516) 794-9050 for a total of $429.22 of which included american car care center freedom plannationalwide tire warrnaty(800) 473-1939, purchase informtion 0780023.we called them and they wanted to speak with the company who aligned and rotated the tires.the company,bradleley-lawless pontiac, inc. Went out of buiness.our new mechanic at champion nissan told us as well as calling warranty hotline, that the tires with or without alignment are unusally worn and very dangerous.we do not have money at this time to replace the tires and after all the firestone incidents, have hardly driven the truck.our warranty states coverage for 48 months and/or 50,000 miles.it's been 1 year and almost 21,000 miles, after having the wheels aligned, rotated and balanced, with all the tire problems surfacing, i'm shocked wtcwon't honnor their warranty. Consumer has replaced the firestone wilderness at (p235/75r15) tires on several occasions due to failure, not covered under the recall that is being issued. *mjs
While traveling at 25 to 30 mph consumer heard a strange sound anddriver's side tire came off and rolled away.dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information.
A catastophic failure was experienced in the right rear tire - the tire had seperated and gone flat at normal highway speed, the vehicle was taken to a garage and the tire was replaced with a new matching tire (firestone wilderness) considering that one tire has already failed i wish to get the tires replaced immediately - what should i do?( dot number: tire size: p23575r15 )
Going 70 mph and the tire tread ripped off like a fruit peel. The tire still had had all its air in it when i came to a stop. I did not crash and no body was hurt. I sent the tire to firestone for them to look at. They said the tire was not inflated correctly and it was my fault. My insurance co. Has paid for the cost of damage but not for my new tires. I would like to know if there is a class action suit that i might contact? i still have the tire with me. I asked firestone to send it back to me and they did. The tires were 60 thousand mile tires and i had about 30-40 thousand on them. I have pictures and a short video of the old tire and its mates showing the tread depth.
I had two of these tired come apart on me.one fortunately was flat in the driveway leaking air through the missing tread area.the second we were not so fortunate on. We were on the highway when tread tarted chunking off.i was able to pull over and stop the car without injury to the kids i was transporting to school. The local firestone dealer said it was something i had done, either by my driving habits. 4 wheeling which this vehicle is not used for, or hitting pot holes. Against my judgement both of the problem tires were replaced with new atx's.in light of your invetigation i felt i ahould forward this information to you.i live in colorado, obviously not in the area where firestone claims the problems are and the incident occured on c470 before university. In douglas county. I don't know if this will adi in your investigatoin or not.i am very thatnkfulnone of the 4 children and my self were injred and that the vehicle damage was limited to the tires.( dot number: vdhl1pm205 tire size: p235/75r15 )

My chassis is rotted beyond repair can this be take in car of at a nissan repair shop and is this vehicle under the recall list?
Tire rack on rear of truck is placed on the sheet metal side panel. When you open the tire rack there is no stop . The rack crushes the rear quarter panel causing $600.00 in damage, which nissan said they would stand behind.
Speedometer/odometer fails to give correct speed of the vehicle.while driving sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not work.
I own a 1995 nissan pathfinder xe 4x4.i took the car for the safety inspection earlier today.it didnot pass the safety requirement because the rust has compromised the frame and made the car unsafe to drive.rust vulnerability is a wide spread problem with nissan's suvs.i love my pathfinder and have invested a lot of money in this car and i'm very sad to see it go to the junk yard because the manufacturer used an inferior quality recycled metal in manufacturing the frame and other parts of the body.over the years, i strugled with rust eating up parts of the body and finally even the frame got eaten by rust.nissan should take responsibility and address the rust problems or nobody will buy a second nissan ever!
The accelerator pedal became stuckwhile driving.
Started jeep, tried to put into drive gear wouldn't move, played with it,got it to move;was driving, parked jeep again and couldn't not get keys out of the ignition.put into neutral with brakes on and the jeep accelerated out of control and hit a building.
My son was turning right out of a gas station when the accelator stuck on our 1995 nissan pathfinder.he veered back into the parking lot of the station to try and gain control however there was a cement pole in his path and he jerked the wheel to the left to avoid hitting the pole headon.the pathfinder flipped several times and landed on the opposite side of the street facing the other direction.i have spoken with two other people that own a nissan pathfinder who has had their accelarator stick.the vehicle was wrecked on all sides and not a single airbag inflated.witnesses on the scene reported that the wheels on the suv were still turning at a rapid pace even when the vehicle was on its side. The sheriff investigating the accident concluded that it was a mechanical failure that caused the accident.
