Engine intermittently stalled while traveling at highway speed of 60 mph. Vehicle towed to dealer whoinformed consumer that the engine overheated and burned up.

Consumer states that they were unable to start vehicle, had vehicle serviced.the engine had lock up. Dealership refuse to speak to consumer.

While traveling in high altitudes vehicle will only go 45 mph.

I would like the manufacturer and the dealers to take these problems seriously. No safety defect listed in the summary.

Vehicle would not go over 45-50 mph most of the time with any significant incline.

Vehicle just die when running on the road.

Have found numerous complaints on the internet with this same problem.nissan does not acknowledge design defect. No safety defect listed in the summary.

Engine runs normal with a slight ticking noise on the passenger side, especially during acceleration.possibly the exhaust system.

I would like the manufacturer and the dealers to take these problems seriously. No safety defect listed in the summary.

Exhaust manifold studs are broken from fatigue on both left and right sides of the engine, possible engineering/design defect.

1) speedometer/odometer broken @ 72500 miles. 2) exhaust studs broken, tech bulletin out (#94041) but dealer wouldn't fix it.

According to the deal this is a " known issue " for pathfinders and this is the second time it has happened to me. I have noticed on the internet alot of references to this problem, infact i got this web address from the nissan website. No safety defect listed in summary.

Cracked exhaust manifold and broken manifold studs caused noise and occasional exhaust smell in passenger compartment (when on fresh air vent).broken manifold studs are a known defect with a tsb in effect (over 10% of all complaints registered in the customer complaint database relate to this issue).only because i had purchased a nissan extended warranty four years ago was most of the repair cost covered, however, i was still required to pay the deductable.i don't feel any out-of-pocket expense should be incurred for an obviously prevalant defect or engineering design flaw.

Right and left exhaust manifold bolts failed and needed to be replaced.

Exhaust manifold bolts failed.

4 exhaust bolts have sheared on both sides of the engine. Dealership said they knew about this, but only covered vehicles from 1995 and newer and under 100,000 miles.

This is the 13th manifold stud that would need to be replaced. When taken to the dealer they want to replace all 6 again at a cost of $636.00. I have already had the vehicle in the shop over the past 2 years twice for the same issue. This is also an emissions issue as the exhaust manifold separeates from the engine. I have aslo logged a complaint with the epa. This is a chronic problem on these vehicles as well as several other model years.

Exhaust manifold bolts failed.

Exhaust manifold (passinger side) cracked due to fatigue. Please provide further details.blower noise in a/c since the begining.

Right rear exhaust manifold studs failed.

Exhaust manifold studs are broken from fatigue on both left and right sides of the engine, possible engineering/design defect.

Exhaust manifold bolts have failed.recall needed regardless of vehicle age/mileage.tsd has been issued so company recognizes problem but is not taking full responsibility.also, many similar complaints on this site.in addition, vehicle sometimes "sticks" in 1st gear (a/t).fluid has been changed and problem is intermittant.several other complaints on this site as well.solution would be helpful.

Common exhaust manifold bolt failure problem/ gov't help needed for customers.

Exhaust manifold failed twice once in december 1998 and in march 2000 due tobolts breaking off which were too small and narrow, and then warped the exhaust manifold.

When driving and turning on the fresh air, exhaust system causes fumes and vapor smells to get intovehicle from the engine compartment. Exhaust manifold had to be replaced.

Passenger side manifold studs failed at 59000 miles covered by powertrain warranty.driver side studs failed at 63000 miles will not be covered by warranty.nissan is aware of defect and has issued a tsb, yet fail to admit it is an engineering flaw and will not issue a recall.

Upon taking in the vehcile for routine mainetence, oil change, tire rotation, & winetrise special.was informed that my exausht manifold bolts were broken and needed replacing, after the vehicle went through two major inspections not over a year ago. 1) for purchaseing a used vehicle and 2) for out of province inspection.nissan canada knows about this problem but refuses to do anything about this problem.

At about 100,000 miles, a bolt on the exhaust manifold failed due to the defective manifold warping away from the engine.bolt was replaced, but future problems were predicted by the mechanic.

In dec of 1999 an exhaust leak started.costs $650 to repair since manifolds warp and break bolts off in engine block.the bolts then have to be bored out and the holes in the engine have to be retapped for threads.he said it was surprizing that both sides weren't bad because pathfinders where "known" for this failure and he said that even though it looked look at that time, i should expect it to fail anyway someday because they all do.about 1-year later, that other manifold did fail in the exact same way and it cost me $600+ at another shop to get that one replaced and retapped after drilling out broken bolts.the mechanic at that shop said that he was surprised both sides weren't bad since all pathfinders have this same problem and i explained that it had already been replaced.why isn't nissan being held responsible for this???

At any speed vehicle was very loud, and the exhaust sounded as if t marbleswere rattling around. A recallwas issued for vehicles of same make/model and certain years, but the consumer'svehicle was not included.the bolts to the exhaust manifold overheated and broke off into the manifold cover.manufacturer and the dealer were aware of the problem.

Had to replace both left & right side exhaust manifold because a design flaw caused the studs to start breaking off.

Exhaust manifold (passinger side) cracked due to fatigue. Please provide further details.blower noise in a/c since the begining.

Speakers failed.

Vehicle would not go over 45 mph.

Mechanic stated unsafe to drive due to gas leak from injectors and parts are on nationwide back order from japan...i'm without a vehicle.

Transmission failures on 1994 pathfinder vehicle.* bfsince the vehicle transmission has been replaced the vehicle has been taken back 5 times for various problems.

Transmission failed.

Transmission would stick. Would fail to shift into another gear. Would have no prior warning when transmission sticks. Would stick in 2nd gear & only going 25mph. Also, door locks would go up and down when key is not in ignition. Would work fine if key in ignition. Have taken vehicle to dealer.

Transmission blew.these cars are sold as cars who have a very long engine life.i just love my car and am very disappointed that i only got 125k out of it.the body and all other parts are in great shape.i service this car religiously.i see on your site a fair amount of others who have the same complaint.i love the car so much, i almost wanted to pay for a new transmission and keep driving it until i read on your site that nissan is aware of this problem and has not done anything about a recall.will most likely purchase another vehicle.thanks

Vehicle's automatic transmission failed to shift gear from 1st to 2nd,car would not accelearate past 20mph.

Transmission will not shift from 1st gear.must go to n, shut down and restart engine, then back to d to clear problem.

Transmission slips while changing fron first to second gear.

While driving down a steep hill, the axle of the trailer disconnected from the wheel, causing trailer to skid/lose control, resulting in an accident.

Took my 1994 pathfinder for front brake services. The mechanic inspected my truck and found the frame completed rusted and could not place on regular lift. I was told that entire frame needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I was told that nissan has recall on pathfinder. I followed up with nissan and was told that 1994 was not on recall list, but recall are for 1996 to 2003 pathfinder. I try to avoid highway rattler and shake too much, so i try to do city driving.

Took vehicle into repair shop getting it ready for inspection. Was told by shop that the entire rear frame of vehicle is rusted out and is non-repairable. It needless to say will not pass inspection. They informed me that this is a common problem on this make and model. I contacted the manufacturer and they are not going to do anything even though this is a major safety issue with loosing the rear wheels and control of vehicle. (toyota had same issue with frames same years and issued a recall) lives are at stake with this issue and nissan should be made to correct issue or compensate owners. Doing a search on the internet on this issue i found hundreds of posts for the exact same problem on same years. What can be done. I now have a worthless vehicle. Note: i purchased this vehicle less than a year ago. My mechanic said that it will be suicidal driving the car, and he can't repair it.

When you accelerate, brake or go over bumps rear axle moves and changes direction of steering. Car will pull to left or right side of road. The car will not go down the road straight.rear frame section rusted completely through at mounting locations of axle support and spring areas. Other people have also failed state inspection do to bad rust problem. Car had factory undercoat installed 8 years ago. No way shoulds a car frame rust out in 8 years or less.suv is still worth $6000.00 but can not be safly drive. You can not see rusted area unless you put car up on a lift.i did not do that before i purchased suv just traded in that day. Dealer was not aware of problem and did not put ona lift to inspect it.my complaint is not with toyota of nashua but with the mfg. Nissan.i am sure you will have reports of serious accidents with these suv in the rust belt areas of usa. Please let me know what is next step.i will see if someone can repair weld in a new frame rail section.dt

Frame corroded to the point where it will not pass inspection. Location of the corrosion is near the rear tires on both sides in the weel well. I went to the dealer to have it looked at, they can not make the repair due to libality problems. The dealer also stated "this is a commond problem with this vehicle". Also i was told not to tow a trailer with this vehicle, the frame would no longer support the additional weight. Bottom line the frame should not rust out in 8 years. Now what should i do with this $26,000.00 vehicle????

There is a large hole in the frame of the vehicle due to rust. Consumer is an auto repair mechanic, and believes vehicle is unsafe to drive.

Hole is developping completely through floor burning multiple holes in mat from exhaust heat coming through panel.

The contact owns a 1994 nissan pathfinder.upon routine inspection, it was found that the cast iron was rusted in the vehicle from the inside out.the inspection station failed the vehicle and stated that if the contact drove over a bump too hard, the vehicle could split into two pieces.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 130,000.

Completely corroded frame aft, beginning at the front of both rear wheel wells. *phthe frame corroded to the point that the consumer could put a finger through the corroded areas.

The frame of the car has rusted out. Mainly above the rear axle mounts. This cars has been washed and undercarriage cleaned constantly. It seems that the metal was not pure but probably recycled. Thus the rust from the inside out. Nissan didn't want to help, just put the complaint on file. So way to keep customers coming back! this was a 26,000 dollar car now worth 0 !

Dt*: the contact stated while a general maintenance inspection was performed by an independent repair shop, it was determined the vehicle frame along both rear axles was corrosive and the frame needed to be restored.the manufacturer was alerted.

Went to replace front strut rod bushings and found nearly rusted through strut/tension rod that connects the lower control arm to the frame on the driver's side. The arm was bent at the rusted section and was near failure.this potential failure may have caused loss of steering control.this is not the first rusted strut/tension rod i have found on pathfinders.we have a 1992 with the same problem.there are also other owners reporting this same problem when they replace the bushings.
