Nhtsa recall 14-v-361i made 3 good faith efforts to make an appointment with victoria nissan motors, 578-5000 but the service manager indicates he will call me and make that appointment.he never returns the call to make the appointment.

Takata recall. On 10/24/18 i hadthe passenger side airbag fixed at the oxnard team nissan shop. I asked about the driver side airbag, and they said the onlyone to be taken care of was the passenger side for my car model,is this true?my concern is, as far as i know, the injuries and deaths have been caused by the driver side airbag. Can you clarify this for my peace of mind. Thanks a lot!

Nissan dealer in metaire/la can't help with an important safety recall.

Takata recall i live in ocala florida i have contacted my local dealership about getting the recall fixed. The problem is they want me to leave my car with them. I have a full-time job a child and an elderly parent i need to have access to transportation. They offered to shuttle me somewhere but that's not acceptable so i haven't been able to get the repairs done. What other choices are thre?

I was driving on the highway here in waldorf, maryland when the airbag indicator keep on flashing. I want to make sure that this episode will notcause an accident.

This is reference to two situation concerning nissan recalls. In 2014 i took my car to sansone nissan dealer on rt 1, nj to take care of the airbag recall issue nhtsa ref#15v287000.my airbag light was not on when i took it to the dealer, after i came home a week later the airbag light came on. I don't think the dealer took care of the recall issue, if they did my airbag light would not be on.i would like nissan to give authorization to the dealer to correct this problem.my second issue was on jan 2016, i was driving to work, all of a sudden the car shut off on me, the brake lock up and all i could do was stair to the side of the road..i was lucky thatthere wasn't any oncoming traffic.i had to call the tow truck to have my car towed but before the tow truck came i tried starting the car again and it started. I was a few minutes from home, so i drove back home and i had my local mechanic picked it up and did a diagnosis on it.he said it was the crank position sensor, i purchased it and he installed it. The car started working a little better but my service engine soon warning light is still on.i did a little investigation and found out that there was a recall for engine and engine cooling recall #03v455000.i read it and found that the consequence on the recall is the exact same thing that happen to me.again sansone dealer on rt. 1 in nj is claiming that they took care of this issue buti was never told that this was a recall by nissan. I wanted nissan to correct this problem based on the fix under nhtsa ref# 03v455000. I've been taking car of all the maintenance on my car since i purchased it from nissan but i feel that nissan is responsible for these two issue, since it was defect in design on their end.

The airbags deployed without being in an accident

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the technician was unable to locate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Front passenger airbag inflator recall not performed , nissan claims wiring harness was tampered therefore recall was not processed. I bought the car from nissan not knowing of this situation and asked for nissan to conduct recall as it is an urgent safety recall.

While drivingat 65 mphdriver applied the brakesto slow down tandlost control, causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail, androll over twice.vehicle landed upside down.upon impact, the airbags did not deploy.driver sustainedminor injuries.however, prior to the accident, when applyingthe brakes vehicle experienced extended stopping distance.

I have three recall notifications and nissan customer service says they are not valid to my vin.so are these recalls not valid or does nissan not want to recall my vehicle?recall subject : passenger side air bag inflator may rupture report receipt date: jun 24, 2014 nhtsa campaign number: 14v361000 component(s): air bags recall subject : nissan/crank/cam position sensor weld report receipt date: nov 17, 2003 nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 component(s): engine and engine cooling

Takata recall-received a recall notice in the mail from nissan about a recall on my 2003 maxima passenger side air bags (nhtsa recall 14v-361). Scheduled an appointment for sept.26, 2014 @ 3pm to have work done. Dropped vehicle off on the morning of sept 26, 2014 because i had to leave town before the time of appt. I picked my vehicle up later that day from the dealer.on april 15, 2016, i was at work on lunch break in our parking lot and i noticed a light on my dashboard on.i took my maxima to the dealer to have light checked to find out it was about my airbag.received an estimate of what needed to be done, total of work needed $1385 plus $90 i had to pay for the diagnostics done. The estimate was for the exact same work that was suppose to have been completed in sept. 2014. I finally had my mechanic fix the exact same problem that the dealership was suppose had fixed and i have not had an issue since.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact exited a parking area to enter a high traffic location. While the contact was traveling straight at 45 mph, another vehicle driving at a high rate of speed crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. None of the air bags deployed. A gray substance emitted inside the vehicle. The driver sustained minor whiplash. The front passenger experienced head trauma and internal injuries, which resulted in the fatality of her unborn child. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was sold to a salvage yard. Melloy nissan (7707 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110, (505) 545-6420) was notified of the crash. The vehicle was extensively damaged. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and investigated the non-deployment, but indicated that there was no air bag failure. The failure mileage was not available. *dt *dt consumer stated due to the defective airbag consumer got into a car accident that led to the death of the consumer's unborn baby.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v361000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Airbag burn/ injury ' my car hydroplaned and crashed against center divider on freeway during rainy weather. The driver-side airbag deployed upon crash and caused a bruise and 2nd degree burn to my left arm (inner forearm). The bruise injury was from the impact of the airbag deployment. Additionally, the nissan logo (decal) on the steering wheel impacted my arm and caused a 2nd degree burn - this burn has now left a permanent scar in the shape of the nissan logo on my left arm. I noticed that this is a design defect on the nissan cars ' their nissan logo decals are not flush with the steering surface (like other car manufacturers) and hence can severely impact the driver in case of airbag deployment.

I was stopped behind a pickup truck when i was hit from behind.upon impact, my 2003 nissan maxima was slammed into the pickup truck.the impact to both the back and front of my car caused the passenger's side airbag to deploy, but not the driver's side air bag. I am happy to say that i walked away from the accident.however....for an air bag to fail to deploy when a car is hit in the middle of the front bumper . . .with enough force to total the vehicle . . . . is very concerning.two days after the accident, i called nissan and patiently recounted the events of the accident including specific vehicle information, driver information, street locations and police case number.after 33 minutes of answering questions, i was told that my nissan case #507-46-73 would be forwarded to an 'air bag specialist.'i was not permitted to speak to anyone at that time accept the information gathering phone agent.on a weekday, during business hours, there was nobody in a position of responsibility who i could be transferred to, not even a supervisor.so as i sit here five weeks later,i have decided to forward the details to the nhtsa in hopes that you can improve upon the general apathy at nissan and have someone stand and take notice of the only salient point of my whole call to nissan:your equipment malfunctioned...call me.at this point, i have purchased a new vehicle (not a nissan) and have moved on, but my hope is that if someone is seriously injured due to an airbag defect, that they can reference my experience so they can take nissan to the cleaners.maybe then nissan will finally bother to take an interest in their product.

While driving 55 mph consumer applied the brakes andvehicle failed to stop.this caused the driver to crashinto a guard rail. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained minor injuries. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

While applying thebrake pedal, the vehicle accelerated uncontrollably.the consumer was not able to maintain control of the vehicle, and it crashed into a parked vehicle.upon impact, both frontal airbagsdid deploy.however,no one was injured.the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.*sc

The passenger's side air bag deployed whiledriving at approximately 70 mph.the vehicle was not involved an accident.*scc

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph a vehicle crashed into herdrivers side which caused the vehicle to spin and crash into another vehicle on the passengers side. The side air bags did not deploy. And two occupants were injured. The cause of the non-deployment is currently unknown. She notified the manufacturer of the failure.

While pulling inside of the parking lotvehicle suddenlyaccelerated.consumer applied the brakes, andpedal went to the floor.consumerplaced both feet on the brake pedal andvehicle continued to accelerate.then, consumer lost control of the vehicle and collided into a building.upon impact, driver's side air bag did not deploy.but passenger's sideair bag diddeploy. Driver sustained injuries, and went to the hospital on his own. Vehicle was towed to a body shop.

Please fix your auto fill --- it just erased everything! anyway, the engine cuts out while driving in traffic.the engine cuts out while waiting at a red light.the engine cuts out while turning.it's all random! the engine code shows p0340, bank 1 and bank2, and sometimes p0345.i have replaced the camshaft position sensors five times!!!!!i have tried both auto zone and hitachi, and neither of them solves the problem.i also paid to have the crankshaft sensor below replaced, and that didn't help. I am told that this problem has been posted online and it was recommended to only use oem parts. This is very dangerous to lose power while in traffic, and then having to wait until the engine will restart, which eventually it does. This is an ongoing problem.please help!!!

As verified by an independent mechanic, the camshaft sensor shut the car down during operation on the highway. I was advised that this specific problem was the subject of a recall in 2003 (notice of which was never given to me) and i found two independent internet references to a recall for this specific problem (recall #33403), one of which contained a range of affected vin's that included my car. I sent the information to nissan with the supporting documentation but was summarily rejected on the basis that my vin simply did not appear on their computer. I asked if it was because the recall was in 2003, but did not receive a reply. Nissan refused to replace the defective part(s); consequently, i had the work performed by an independent mechanic.hence, the question:is this 10-year old (apparently voluntary) recall enforceable by the nhtsb?nissan could obviously not care less.

Front doors, driver and passenger sides, do not open; fail to open intermittently, making a noise as if the door lock are trying to open.driver was stuck inside car which could be a safety hazard.

At times, doors locks by themselves. Child was trapped in car. 1993 nissan quest.

While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After approximately ten minutes, i was able to restart the vehicle. The car has stalled in traffic three times over the last 3 weeks.i have read on the internet that there are many others with the same problem. Nissan refuses to correct the problem. When my car stalledthe car behind me came close to hitting me.the car is unsafe to drive. I or my family could be killed in an accident due to the stalling of the car in traffic. Gm is now fixing the problem with their cars; after 13 deaths.please ensure that owners of this car are safe!thanks you.

My 2003 nissan maxima gle has had the check engine light, the abs and the tsc lights coming on. I took it to my local dealer who ran diagnostics on it and said it was the crankshaft sensor which i had already replaced due to an intermittent problem with the speedometer quit working, or that i needed to replace the entire instrument package. As i am fairly mechanical (father was a master mechanic) this did not seem logical to me. The speedometer has now quit working completely and the tachometer is now having intermittent problems. I have also changed the camshaft sensors. The problem seems to be more electrical than mechanical--instruments only record what sensors send to them. It has now started dying in traffic which scares me as i am afraid i will have an accident. The dying in traffic problem is getting worse. So far i have been able to hit my flashers and struggle to glide it off the edge of the road to a stop when it happens until i can get it started again. Some times it is very difficult to start and sometimes it will start right back again. I have ruled out moisture in the gas has i have run several containers of heet through the gas tank the last two months. When i asked the dealer if they had seen other vehicles with the same or similar problems they said no. I asked them if my car model hadany recalls and they said no again. Due to a search on the internet i have discovered that recall #03v455000 had been issued for my model year nissans that were having this same problem with the engine dying due to soldier flux on variable timing control sensor. Please advise if my car is covered by this recall asap as i am afraid i might have an accident due to the car dying and everything locking up when it does.

When was driving on 11/30/2015 and parking the car to go in a building and came back out and turn my light on and the trail light don't come on and the dash light don't come back on,and the power steering pump keep leaking.

I recently had a diagnostic done on my vehicle because i had been having issues with my car engine would get a little hot, it would also cut off on me while driving without notice, i had a couple diagnosis done and all pointed to my camshaft sensor,in was in the national data base as a recall, but base in north american nissan my vin# is eligible for that campaign thus will not help fix an issue i've already had to repair more than once.they've told me because i haven't had my car service by them the whole time i've owned my vehicle they would not help. I am very upset that this is the result i got after contacting north american nissan directly and they wouldn't do anything.based on the recall issue could be very dangerous and cause an accident in which i have been very lucky when ever i am driving, no cars end up crashing into me from behind.

(2003 nissan maxima)car will not start.after placing the key in the ignition, it will not allow me to turn the key to the on position.i have called nissan and there is no recall on this.i will have to take to the dealer to have fixed at my expense.i have noticed other complaints about the samething on the internet.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While the vehicle was stationary, all of the doors immediately locked without being prompted by the key fobik. The contact had to get the police to unlock the doors. The contact stated that the key fobik became inoperative on several occasions after exiting the vehicle. An independent mechanic was made aware of the failure and stated that the body control module was faulty and needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 168,000.

I no there was a volunteer recall on a couple different parts of this car , yet looking at the vin number doesnt show a recall now. I bought my 5th gen maxima and since then ive had to replace the camshaft sensors in it now 3 times an even gotten new connectors installed to fix the problem. Ive had my car just suddenly die in traffic as im driving or soon as you try to accelorate it dies and is hard to restart.. Its frustrating to love the car and cant ever seem to get it right., it always seems to have a problem. I monitor nissan's website to see if they have any tsb's when i have an issuse an normally ifind theres something from few years back that had a recall for it.

Takata recall driver and passenger windows were both down on 11/9/17 around 8am in the morning. Both driver and passenger window were all the way down. I did leave the doors unlocked or windows down when i went to sleep. The car was stationary on a regular street parked over night.

While driving car just stops, no fuel, no power, no power steering, no electrical, nothing everything shuts off. Restart no issues runs for awhile and happened again two more times. So three times total. There is a recall for this nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000. Took it to dealer and they said they don't honor this because it is not a nissan recall? what?

About 2 weeks ago my 2003 nissan maxima's engine just shut off while driving.over the next two days this happened 3 more times.upon taking my maxima to be repaired the mechanic informed me of the recall for this exact problem.the mechanic told me the problem was with sensors for the cam, per the computer diagnostics.he then informed me that i should take it to a nissan dealer as this was a recall situation that nissan should fix for free.upon taking the maxima to gurnee nissan in gurnee illinois, i was charged $65 dollars for diagnostics, quoted over $500 for the repairs and vehemently told there is no recall on the 2003 maximas.i then contact nissan, after finding the recall notice on their website and a number to call for assistance.for the last two weeks i have been unable to drive my car and have received no assistance from nissan.while i can find the recall on their website, provided the nissan recall number from the nissan website, they contended first it was no longer under warranty, then it was not a good vin, then the vin was good but was outside the range for the recall, then it was in the range, but did not qualify and finally today i was told, "your vin is not in the range, but i don't know what the range of vins are."

Electrical problems; during warranty periodand i had to takethecar to the dealership numerous times because the driver' s and front passenger's seats quit working and required electrical repairs. The power sun roof also quit working and required electrical repairs during the warrantyperiod. My carwas no longer covered by warranty, andpower windows have now quit working. I had so many different electrical problems since purchasingthe car that i could nothelp but to think theywereall connected to the same common problem, and it mademe wonder what will happen next.also, during the 2nd year of the warranty period, the battery went completely dead for no apparent reason, and it was not covered by warranty, however, they towed my car to the dealership , early in the morning, and yet had to keep the car over night.i didn't know if repairs towiring were performed or not, but they didn't admit to any underlying electrical problem, yet they couldn't explain whythe battery became dead, or why it required more than 24 hours to replace a dead battery. Were these coccurence's commenly reported for this model year.

My battery/brake lights went on my 2003 nissan murano and the engine died while i was on the highway.i lost my brakes and steering and almost caused a big accident on the highway with speeding cars behind me going 55-65 mph.i was able to start the car again but it died at the entrance of a one lane road leading to the fdr drive in new york city.worse is that there a big construction under the 59th st. Bridge and i was stuck right in the middle of this construction and caused a major, major traffic from york avenue till fdr. I had to be pushed out of fdr (awds cannot be towed)and had to pay the tow truck.after that i had to call a flatbed to bring my car to the dealer.this should have been recalled long time ago so people do not go thru what i went thru.do you have to wait till people die on the highway?the alternator and battery was replaced by dealer since it was under warranty.i was charged for the new battery!and of course, i had to pay for the towing.

This is a mileage issue.i bought on july 8, 2005 from empire nissan, ontario, ca a 2003 350-z vehicle that a an odometer reading of 11684.on july 11, my insurance agent checked on line with carfax on the history of this car.per carfax report, mileage as of dec. 15, 2003 was 12,243 and as of march 2, 2004, it was 12, 244.upon carfax advice, we can either notify your office or the california dept of motor vehicle.dmv advised us to bring it to the dealer's attention because their records only show 1 registration upon the purchase of the first original buyer.then, the mileage was 8 miles.it has not been smogged nor re-registered.i have brought the matter to empire nissan on the evening of july 13, 2005.i was asked to wait and they said they will research the matter & call me on july 14, 2005.i got a call and am going there in the evening.i was told by other dealers that i have the right to return the car & be reimbursed for everything.please help me.what is the right recourse for this case?

Takata recall driver and passenger windows were both down on 11/9/17 around 8am in the morning. Both driver and passenger window were all the way down. I did leave the doors unlocked or windows down when i went to sleep. The car was stationary on a regular street parked over night.

Camshaft position sensor failed

The car has stalled when stopped and while driving. Slip light and tsp warning lights go on along with service engine. I noticed the recall from 2003 was for similar problems. However i put in my vin # and i'm assuming my car does not apply. Very very dangerous. My young daughter was driving when it died.would like to know if repairs would be covered under previous recall.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving approximately 50 mph, the engine stalled and all the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was merged over to the emergency lane, where it was turned off and restarted; however, the failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the crank shaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure and they informed the contact that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 9/25/2015*ln..updated 10/19/15

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact was driving 60 mph, when the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the check engine light illuminated as the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle performed normally and was later taken to a dealer for inspection. The contact was informed that the engine sensor failed possibly due to faulty wiring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.

I recently purchased a 2003 nissan maxima that was maryland state inspected. I drove it for about a week when i was driving along on a busy road and the car stalled in the middle of the roadway.luckily, nobody was injured or hit the stalled car.the car had to be towed to the nissan repair shop.it was diagnosed with two defective camshaft sensors.i found out that this part was recalled under nissan's recall program, so i called them to see if they would replace the part.they refused to cover the cost of the replacement of the part even though they replaced these parts before under your recall.

Was driving on 4 lane divided road at approx. 50 mph.when depressed gas pedal to accelerate, car acted like it wasn't getting gas.after a few seconds, it acted normal again.came upon stop light.as i was waiting for light to change, engine suddenly cut off without any warning, all dash lights flashed.i immediately cut the a/c, radio and lights thinking it was my battery going bad.i put the car in park and restarted it with no problem.i immediately drove approx. 15 miles to nearest aaa shop to get battery checked.battery checked out fine and mechanic looked under hood and could not see anything obvious.i got home and found out that this year nissan had been recalled for camshaft problems.the description of camshaftproblems (engine suddenly turning off) made me suspicious especially since it had been recalled.took to nissan dealership next morning and they confirmed that the camshaft was weak so they replaced ($552.00 expense).don't understand why all the nissan 2003 maximas were not recalled for this problem.i am asking that nissan considering recalling all the 2003 maximas for this problem.i was very frightened when engine cut out and could have be stuck in the middle of the road and rear-ended.i am grateful i was stopped when it happened and not traveling at a high speed.

While driving at approx 30 mph, the car shut off as my child and i were coming to a stoplight. I had no problem restarting and encountered this same problem 4 more times during my trip, including failure to idle. Check engine light never came on. Next time, i was driving approx 45 mph and the car shut off and it tried restarting itself while i was trying to find a safe place to pull over.the car restarted again no problem. Then as my husband and i were driving at approx. 60 mph the car began to lurch (stopping and attempting to start again by itself). Pulled off the road and was able to restart the car, all of these instances no check engine light. Lastly, i was unable to start the car after parking it away from home and it was acting like it was "flooded". After 20 minutes of attempted starting, it finally took and i drove home on the back roads. After several attempts at home to recreate the no start problem, the check engine light is finally on! at this point, i'm not driving this vehicle until we have the bank 2 camshaft position sensor replaced. We ran a code reader and got a p0345 code. Nissan has a recall on this year make/model but i, like many, many other consumers have been told, their vin is not part of the recall from 2003. I would like to know if anyone's vin fell into their recall. I just told the nissan "customer service" that i am afraid driving this car could result in fatalities, and they suggested i take it to the dealership and maybe they could do something for me! like sell me a new car? never again, nissan.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the failure occurred every day for the past six months. The dealer (ingram park nissan, 6990 northwest loop 410, san antonio, tx 78238) was contacted by phone, but the vehicle was not taken in for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 124,432.

It has the check engine light on, it takes time to start and when it is driving it turns off (but it turns on).it goes off on flat surfaces, and when you are on a rise that's where it takes to catch on.

The car heavily burns oil, this car as well as many other cars in the nissan line-up were given the vq35de motor which is well known for burning oil. I am required to change my oil every 3000 miles because it burns a lot of oil. I fill up the engine 5 quarts which is above recommended because i don't want to risk running my engine dry of oil because it gets burned. Every 3000 miles i get rid of about 2.8 quarts when i start off with 5 quarts each oil change. I only do city driving and not long distance driving. Many other nissan vehicles are also plagued with this oil burning issue.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 147,000.

Car "service engine soon" is on. The car randomly cuts off in traffic and as driving. Won't start up immediately. Very dangerous problem. The engine to stopped running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While making a right turn at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number:03v455000 (engine and engine cooling) but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was 135,000.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. After approximately ten minutes, the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure occurred three different times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that two cam shaft position sensors and the drive shaft shift sensor would have to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

The vehicle stalled when it was driven at speed of 20 to 35 mph. The warning light on and the car can start again after the gear changed to neutral. It has been happened two times in a month and then mileages is 114000 miles. The nissan workshop can't figure out it dues to camshaft sensor problem.

Camshaft position sensor failed

While driving, car suddenly stops responding, the steering wheel locks into position, the engine looses power, and stops running. It happened four times over the past two years. The speed of the vehicle during the incidents was between 20 - 35 mph.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving at various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's title was re-worked; therefore, the dealer was not obligated to perform any recall or warranty work on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and all warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vin was not included. The failure mileage was 47,000.updated 7/13/15the consumer stated the vehicle hard to start. Updated 07/16/15

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced trouble starting and the engine power was reduced. The service engine soon warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine control sensor, crank position sensor, and camshaft position sensor were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,171.

I have experienced problems cranking the car, i purchased a new battery and battery terminals. This appeared to quick fix it but soon after the speedometer stopped working and the check engine light came on. Soon after followed tcs control and abs light came on. I took it to a mechanic and the diagnosis involved a problem with the camshaft position sensors and crankshaft position sensors. I purchased a book about the car and read that my make and model had a recall. After double checking online about the recall i noticed it appeared to be the exact same problem. Convinced, i went to my local nissan dealership to have them check however it was explained to me that my vin number was not recalled. I want to have my vin number placed on the nhtsa recall list so that i may have my vehicle repaired. If this is not possible please advise further. Thank you.

Excessive engine oil consumption at 150.000 miles

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while attempting to exceed 3,000 rpm. The contact stated that while idling, the vehicle stalled while stopped at a traffic light. The contact shifted the transmission to neutral and the vehicle remained on. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the vin was subjected to nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 143,000.

The vehicle has twice lost power and engine died while moving down the street.the check engine light was on after this incident and showed code p0345: camshaft position sensor a (bank 2).this vehicle does not show up on the r3022 crankshaft/camshaft sensor recall.however, the vehicle was manufactured 06/2002 and the recall dates include from 02/2001 to 07/2002.this vehicle has 91,694 miles on it and thus should not be exhibiting this problem from normal wear and tear.this is a very serious problem and could cause a crash in the future.

As i was driving on the highway the car jerked and felt like it was losing acceleration. The check engine light, tcs and slid light turned on. I began to feel scared i had my child, sister and brother in the vehicle. I proceed to drive home with caution. Once i arrived home, i turned the vehicle off and tried to restart it. The car would not start.

Car won't start.it turns on and it cranks but it doesn't start

When drivingdown the street it just turned off. Said it was crank/ cam position sensors well changed them and put new throttle body. And now to find there is a recall however my vin is not part of it. Well it should be. And be fixed. I have been trying to fix for 9 months. Been sitting longer. First had to figure out where to start.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving 35 mphup a hill, the vehicle stalled and the service engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the cam sensor shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage wasapproximately 120,000.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, a burning odor emitted inside of the vehicle with the illumination of the engine warning indicator. The transmission then failed to operate. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road. After waiting fifteen minutes, the vehicle restarted normally and the problem recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis and they were unable to locate a problem. There was a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 01v3570000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the problem who stated that the vehicle had been previously repaired under the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. While driving 40 mph, the brake lights illuminated and the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to crank twice before being able to be restarted. The engine light illuminated shortly after the failure. The vehicle was taken to a repair facility. The technician stated that the cam shaft sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. However, the vehicle was not a part of nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 145,000.

While driving on highway at about 55 mph car loses power without any warning, there was not much traffic so i was able pull off the road.the car regained power without having to start engine and i was able to drive a little further and it happened several times again.the "check engine" light comes on as this is happening but doesn't stay on.(i cannot run test to find out what is going on as "check engine" light only comes on as this happening).the engine is still on/running but there is no power/acceleration to the vehicle.

It has the check engine light on, when the car is up, it takes time to start and when it is driving it sometimes turns off, but if they turn it on again if it starts.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. While driving at a relatively low speed (~30 mph), the engine suddenly stalled. I was able to pull over to the side of the road, and restart the engine a short time later. Within 30 seconds of driving (again), the engine suddenly stalled again. I had to stop driving. Just the previous day, the check-engine-light came on, indicating error codes p0340 and p0345.upon checking the internet, it seems that nhtsa campaign id 03v455000 may be relevant (it covers 2003 maxima). The symptoms my car exhibited are the same as those described. However, when i called nissan, i was told that my car's vin was not covered by recall. It seems very, very coincidental that i would experience the same problem described in the recall, but am not subject to recall. It seems that nissan is under-reporting the cars affected, and i fear my car would be quite unsafe to drive (with random, sudden stalls).

Vehicle stalls at random, rough/no start, loss of power, engine light/code shaft sensor. Same symptoms as recall for this year our vin wasn't included in the list of recalled vehicles.

Oil cooler leak replaced o ring 5 times replaced not fixed yet.

The 2002-2003 nissan maxima are known to be burning engine oil. There is also a significant flaw which makes the car leak engine oil through the valve covers into the spark plugs and with the ignition system close by, there is potential for fire in these vehicles. Nissan of north america is not helping or willing to resolve this issue and shrugs customers by saying its normal. It is not normal to have lost 3/4th of your engine oil by the time next oil change is due !

On 9-2-2008 i was driving my 2003 nissan maxima it just stopped running, towed to the dealer they replaced crank position sensor.called nissan north america inc. And told them of the problem and ask aboutthe recall of maxima"s that had this problem that said my car was not under therecall . The only response was sorry! good thing i'm an experienced drive ori might have not been able to tell this- sorry no more nissan cars!

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima.while driving less than 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning.all of the instrument panel lights illuminated and the vehicle was able to be restarted after a few minutes.an independent mechanic performed a diagnostic, which indicated that there was a cam and crank sensor malfunction (code p0340).the previous owner had the vehicle repaired according to nhtsa campaign id number 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling).the failure and current mileages were less than 115,000.

The engine would not start during lunch.it started after a couple of attempts after work and the "service engine soon" warning light came on.as i left my job and drove 1/2 mile, the engine stopped running on a three lane road in traffic as i was going 35-40 mph.i managed to coast past an intersection and quickly turn without power steering into a parking lot.

2003 maxima shuts off when starting it, back to back.car has less than 80k miles.mechanic said it is the cam shaft sensor position & this car is horrible.this is a life threatening issue and must be fixed by nissan only.it was their error.i have filed a complaint against nissan as well.

- the contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. On several occasion his vehicle lost power, however he was able to pull over and the vehicle to restart. After a few minutes the vehicle lose power again. The dealer information wasn't available.the current mileage was 80,000 the failure mileage was 70,000.

While driving the vehicle stopped running.after researching the trouble code, we attempted to replace the part.replacement was unsuccessful and found safety recall on this same issue.called local dealership and they stated their was no recall on this vehicle.there should be a recall on this vehicle if it dies while driving.this problem is very dangerous.

2003 maxima se 110,000 miles has oil leaking through seals between valve covers and spark plug wires.one ignition coil needed to be replaced.the real issue is that the seals cannot be repaired or replaced.instead, the valve covers have to be re-purchased adding an extra $290.00 in parts to a labor intensive bill.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact was driving 30 miles per hour and while making a turn the vehicle stalled. The vehicle restarted when the first failure occurred; however, when the second failure occurred the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The diagnostic test report indicated that the camshaft position failed internally. The vehicle was repaired using the same recall remedy under nhtsa campaign id number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling), despite the dealer and manufacturer stating the vin does not qualify for the recall. Car was being operated in normal fashion when it the engine shut off without warning during normal vehicle operation.was able to get car off of road safely and then restarted, noticed check engine light was on.took car home and called dealer to see if they could investigate.took car to dealer and same thing happened on the way there.they investigate and found it was a camshaft position sensor malfunction.had repairs completed and car works fine now.i also noticed there was a similar recall to models like mine under nhtsa campaign id number 03v455000, but after contacting nissan directly, they said my vin wasn't included in the original recall.

My 2003 nissan maxima shuts off without any warning i had my grandbaby in the car with me and traffic was moving pretty fast, after sitting for about 5mins it started back up. I took itto my mechanicand toldthat the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced. He also told me that it was a recall on this, so i took it to the nissan dealer and they said it is not for my vin number. I have 174,000 mileage.

My 2003 maxima stalled out twice while driving, once while at a very busy intersection during rush hour. My mechanic informed me that nissan had recalled the 2003 maximas for a faulty cam sensor that causes the vehicle to stall. However, in typical fashion, nissan told me that my vin did not fall under the recall and they would not help me. My mechanic told me that the local nissan dealership informed him that the part was on national backorder and he could not repair my vehicle. In the meantime, i could possibly be in an accident because of faulty manufacturing. My mechanic also informed me that nissan has changed the part number, meaning that the part is the cause of the problem, which proves that my vehicle should be repaired by nissan.

The car stalled on my whilei was still traveling at 60mph and i lost control of the car. The vehicle started drifting to the right forcing me to get off the road where it suddenly stopped. A little scary don't you think? the vehicle also had the check engine light on. I later had the car diagnosed and it pulled an po340 code(cam position sensor, crank position sensor) which was supposedly recalled by nissan on oct 04. My car's manufacturedate was 12/02. I called nissan corporate and they told me that apparently my car wasn't under recall when a bunch of other websites(cars.com, internetautoguide.com, nhtsa.gov). I know this doesn't make any sense when my life was in danger and i own 2 other nissan cars, i don't get why a company wouldn't care about its loyal customers. I am a college student and looks like this issue is going to run me $1200.00 when personally i don't know why i need to be paying for it while the same car has a recall on it and the recall happens to be the same problem my car has. Please help me figure this out.thanks for reading.

Vehicle dies while in operation and traveling to work. It happens three to four time when driving it.

The first incident occurred when my car, 2003 altima was less than a year old.during the summer of 2004, the car would not start.it had a full tank of gas, the battery was fine and it was early in the morning around 8am.i attempted to turn the car on and i got nothing.it finally started after about an hour of trying to pump the gas without trying to flood the engine.i chalked it up to a hopefully one time event. It has happened 4 more times since then.again in the fall of 2004 and i did take it to the dealer in arlington, va and they found nothing wrong.it happened twice in 2005 andmost recently around memorial day and just this past week.i keep the maintenance up on the vehicle every, put "good" gas in the car but i still have these issues.the vehicle information section of this complaint only had maxima gle and frontier listed as vehicle type, not the altima.i submitted maxima just to get through the complaint.my car is again a 2003 nissian altima.

I have a 2003 nissan maxima that stalled while i was driving down the highway.i was able to get the car restarted after a couple of minutes and i later researched the problem.apparently, there was a recall for that problem (recall 03v455) involving 3 faulty sensors and my vin fall inside the range of applied vins jn1da*1**3t 400002 - 515067.i did have my car repaired by nissan at a cost to me of over $416 whereas, nissan replaced two of the sensors.at this time, nissan insists that my car and vin do not apply.i had read on the internet that they are others with the same problem and nissan refuses to correct their problem also.i agree that this is a safety problem since the car behind me came close to hitting me when my car stalled and the driver proceeded to honk the horn and shout and me.it is my believe that nissan has not been diligent in their efforts to get this problem resolved and get this unsafe cars off the road.i would like nissan to resolve this issue by 1.) reimbursing me for the cost of my repairs, 2.)repair the other faulty sensor that was part of the recall that they did not repair this time and 3.) repair others like mine that nissan refuses to repair at this time.

On my 2003 maxima se, the "service engine :light" comes on and the moving vehicle stalls. My wife had a close escape from a crash when it happened to her yesterday. It happens when the vehicle has been in operation for a few miles. A scan of the failure code from the engine returned p0340 which implies camshaft position sensor circuit problem. Checking the internet i find that the manufacturer recalled this model for a bad solder on the camshaft position sensor electronic circuit board in 2003, but the dealer never informed me when i purchased the car. My vehicle has only 55000 miles. The dealer claims that just because there was a recall does not mean that every car from that model year will be fixed. This is a serious safety issue. You can check on the internet regarding issues with 2003 nissan maxima and you will see rampant problem and operational safety hazard with this specific camshaft sensor component.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima.the check engine indicator light illuminated while driving 45 mph.the contact brought the vehicle to a local auto zone and the cause of failure was found to be the engine light sensor.the vehicle was brought to the dealer on april 16, 2007 and the contact was told that the recall repair was already remedied.the dealer also stated that the contact would have to pay for the repairs, even though the vehicle was previously owned.the current mileagewas 67,700, and failure mileage was 66,000.

I have a 2003 nissan maxima and am hearing an engine whine noise when the car is reaching higher speeds.i do not yet hear it when idling but i am told its only a matter of time before i do.the noise sounds kind of like what an alternator hum in a poorly grounded sound setup makes.you can turn off the radio and a/c but you can still hear it.

On april 28th 2011, i was driving on the highway when my 2003 nissan maxima se vehicle engine sputtered and cut off in the middle of traffic and an engine light came on.i was very lucky there was a police office a few cars behind me to stop traffic otherwise i avoided an accident by a hair! needless to say i had to have the vehicle towed. An engine diagnostic report later indicated the a p0340 and p1564 code which is related to the crank shaft and camshaft position sensors. My vehicle only had 63215 miles on the odometer when this happened. I called nissan after an online search indicated they had a recall for the problem but when i called nissan north america inc to get approval for the recall fix, they gave me the run around.

2003 nissan maxima cam sensor failure. Car shut down in traffic.

Approximately a week after a remote starter was installed the check engine light in the vehicle came on, indicating a problem with the cam position sensor. The remote starter was removed (bypassed by installers) and the condition being experienced continued. The result is the car failing to start properly and at times cutting off while in operation including while the car is in motion, which can cause a crash.the failure is still being experienced and the cam position sensor will have to be replaced.

The contact owns 2003 nissan maxima. The contact was driving 55 mph when the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the catalytic converter was faulty and caused the engine to fail. The dealer advised that he was unable to repair the vehicle. Nissan maxima 2003 bose system sucks.... I got my cd player replaced three times. I believe they are clarion (a bose look a like) and sometimes dealers will put in used systems. Luckily i had the extended warranty, so no charge. But i did wasted couple of hours off work. If i had not purchased the extended warranty, the system runs around hundrendths of dollars.

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima.nhtsa recall 03v455000 was issued. And the consumer took vehicle to nissanfor recall repairs.however, nissan refused to do the recall repairs. I bought a 2003 maxima se october 2005.my left side speakers would cut in and out only on the cd player.i found the tsb on this and had only had the car for 5 days.salesman told me i would have to pay for a new one and had to get the manager to send my radio off to a place to get repaired.one month later it quit working again.i haveread on numerous web sites about the way nissan treats people with this problem.i cannot afford to shell out $600 for a new nissan radio that will break in a few months anyway.and an aftermarket radio takes away from that original look for me.can they not replace it with the 2002 radio (a new one )because i haven't heard any complaints on that year.the dealership was crown pontiac in hoover, alabama.they promised me a touch up on the front bumper and hood because of the paint chips and to redo the titanium wheels because the finish was rubbed off and the rims were turning black.no touch up, had a guy come and fix 3 of the wheels and told me to bring the other one to the shop and he would have to work on it overnight for $100.so i have one rim that does not match.i had to shell out $80 for floor mats.even bought the $1800 extended warranty.so for spending $22000 on a 2003 car, broken cd player, ugly rim, half the paint is missing from the touch up i never received.they were so nice before i got the car, but as soon as the paper was signed, all i got was sorry that will cost you.all i want is for my cd player to work and redo one rim.i cannot get that or even 1 of 2 would be okay.

The xenon headlights on my 2003 nissan maxima have become clouded with dramatically reduced lighting effectiveness.i have had to replace one headlight two years ago, and the other needs to be replaced shortly.this is a safety issue.

It has the check engine light on, it takes time to start and when it is driving it turns off (but it turns on).it goes off on flat surfaces, and when you are on a rise that's where it takes to catch on.

Consumer stated the vehicle had a design defect which make it easy for the headlights to be stolen by just "popping" them out.there was an excessive amount of space between headlamp assembly and vehicle's frame.any object can be inserted in the space to dislodge the headlamp. *ph *scc

Headlights are very easily removed.as a result, two sets of headlightswere stolen.

I had my xenon hid headlights stolen the week before christmas. It seems that if the assembly around the drivers side door handle is popped out slightly, the contacts underneath can be shorted and both windows lowered. Once in, it only takes a few minutes to take the lights. It's not the lights themselves that they are after, rather the hardware that powers the lights. Once they have the hardware they can put it in any car. Had i known that these lights were such a hot item, i never would have bought the car. Nissan is aware of the problem so they have provided repair facilities with repair kits to make the turn around time shorter. But that does nothing to the feeling of having your car violated.i drive in fear now. I can't go to the movies. If i go to the mall i have to sit in the car and send the wife in to do the shopping. Now that the weather is getting warm again i worry even more. I try to make sure that i have at least $500 (deductible) on a credit card somewhere for the next time this happens. Good luck to you all.

Passenger hid light stolen and wires cut.literally took thieves minutes, perhaps seconds.

Both hid headlights (xenon) were stolen from my 2003 nissan maxima. The dealer where i bought the car refuse to replace the headlights with thoseof the 2001 model.i found a dealership that installed the halogen headlights of the 2001 maxima on my car.nissan's consumer affairs department refused to consider this problem as a design flaw and offers no help to owner to secure these headlights that are so easily stolen.

Hid headlights were stolen. Took less than 10 seconds for thief to steal headlights.*nlm

I have had the xenon hid headlights of my vehicle stolen three times over the past 6 months.i implore anyone even considering purchasing a 2002 or 2003 maxima to reconsider.this is a marked car, and my attempts to gain the manufacturer's attention have failed.i hope if thieves take the lights again, that they steal the whole car, and relieve me of this curse.

Problems with theft of vehicle's headlights.*mrvehicle was vandalize three times for the headlights. After the second incident, an anti-theft device was installed. After the third incident, the manufacturer offered a $500.00 incentive towards a trade in. The dealership that purchased the vehicle from the consumer would make a reasonable deal.*ph

Due to nissan's bad design of the 2003 maxima model, the xenon hid headlights could be removed from a locked car within less than 30 seconds. As a result the driver of the car is at risk.

Headlights stolen from vehicle twice in 4 months. April 15, 2004 and september 1, 2004.because of designe head lights can be removed quickly with a long sharp object.

The head lamps (headlights) were stolen twice.each head light was $800.00.the dealer statedthey could be removed easily.the consumer stated this is a poor design. *nlm

Nissan knew since at least september 2002 that thieves were targeting the xenon headlamps in maximas, they failed to inform consumers purchasing 2002 and 2003 maximas, as well as existing owners and lessees, of the risk of theft of the xenon headlamps, and failed to inform owners and lessees of the cars of the availability of the anti-theft kit., repairs for the 3 thefts have cost over $7000 within an 8 month time frame. Nissan should be held responsible for a faulty design that is costing consumers thousands of dollars each day in either insurance premium increases or headlight replacement.the company has redesigned the xenon high intensity headlights for the 2004 model. And they now offer a model with halogen instead of xenon. I propose an investigation as to why nissan corp has not recalled these cars and replaced the xenon lights with a more reasonable lighting system at their expense.

Xenon hid headlights were stolen on the 2nd night i owned this car. Apparently this is a huge problem. The problem lies in the design of the headlights. The hood can be opened without any access to the inside of the car. Once the hood is opened, 2 bolts are all that attach the headlights to the car. An eyewitness claims the thieves had the headlights removed in under 2 minutes. Nissan understands the problem and has designed some attachments to prevent the hood from being opened from the exterior. The kit costs ~$350 to install.

I purchased the 2003 nissan maximathe end of january 2003, i was never told that the headlights on these cars are easily removeable, by simply popping them out with a screw driver. So on may 21, my car's headlights were stolen. I complained to the nissan corp but was told that there was noth they could do about the problem. They are aware of the situation, in fact they have already introduced the 2004 model with the headlights tamper proof. The police told me that this model car is very popular with the thieves and i should not keep this c ar in the street for more then 10mins at a time. So basically, i bought a car to keep under lock and key and not use at all.why can't nissan recall these cars and fix the problem, because every time the lights are stolen, the demage is more then $2,000.00, also what happens if i am a distance away and they steal my headlights, i will not be able to drive back home or risk driving with no headlights and maybe hurt myself or someone else.please check into this matter and advise me.

Gas mileage is very low.current gas mileage is between 15 mpg and 20 mpg

After driving and parking car in garage i detected strong smell of gasoline. Returned to dealer and was told that this happens when temperatureis high (120f that day) and that there is no fix. Since car is parked next to a gas water heater i found this answer unsatisfactory and i contacted the nissan office. I was told same and "not to worry, temps. Rarely are higher than 115f". Obviously drivers in s. Nv and arizona are expendable!only fix seems to be to park outside until it cools down. Problem is related to the evap. System , i was told.

The murano lost acceleration on the interstate and would not go into gear; it came to a complete stop on the exit ramp between i-95 north and i-26 toward charleston, sc. I was unable to restart the car and had to be pushed "out of harm's way by a trucker, and a couple who stopped to help.i was brought to the nissan dealership (20 miles away in orangeburg, sc).the service dept. Determined that the fuel pump shut down, stopped working.the part had to be ordered, and i had to pay for a rental car from enterprise , so that i could drive the remaining 3 hours back to my home in travelers rest (greenville,-spartanburg area). The part arrived on 9-25-2007, and i drove 3 hours back to orangeburg to pick up my car and return the rental).my husband asked for the "old fuel pump".i had to pay $350.00 for the part and labor and $100for towing.the insurance co. Last week a new battery & starter were installed.did not drive for a week.started fine yesterday and drove approximately 90 miles, then it just stopped.luckily i was on a road with no other traffic.i put it in neutral and it started right up.i drove one mile and parked it at my home.will not drive it again until i talk with a mechanic.very scary!planet nissan in my area have given me horrible service.if you have an older car they cannot be bothered.i plan on calling a local mechanic that hopefully can help me.

Locking system unreliable. Locked doors unlock while parked and while driving. Sometimes alarm will sound when unlocked door is opened, sometimes not. I locked my car when underway. When i stopped and attempted to open my driver's door, the door would not unlock even though the door lock indicated it was unlocked. I could not open the door manually and exited through the window. The door would not unlock manually from the outside. I called my road service and they could not get the door to open. I am taking the car to the dealer but must enter through the window.

I have a 2003 maxima.the gears are jerking really bad between 1st & 2nd gear.this is not suppose to be happening.i've read so many complaints about these cars, why is there not a recall yet?when someone is seriously hurt maybe then a recall will be issued!

2003 nissan maxima experienced clutch failure @ 23,000 miles with normal wear. Car has original tires and was driven by an experienced driver. Our experience has been that clutches normally last more then 75,000 miles.this was a $900.00 repair on a two year old car and nissan offered no assistance.

Loud thud/bump when going over an uneven surface from right front.had serviced and was advised it was the "bump stop" that was dry.i was also advised that this should have been addressed at each oil change.i reviewed my manual and there is no mention of lubricating the bump stop - ever.in addition, the dealer did not mention the service was done when oil changes were done there.

Nissan murano, 2003 with approximately 75,400 miles.august 9, 2008, my daughter and wife were driving the car and called me on my cell phone very excited and unset stating, ?the car won?t accelerate and it is jerking,, what should we do??i instructed them to park the car until i arrive to check it out i didn?t want them to get onto the major highway in the heavy traffic.i arrived and drove the car home. I parked the car in our garage and didn?t drive it until monday for work. Had no problems that day and drove it to work, both wife and i commute to the same location.after work on this very heavily traveled interstate on our way home i experienced the car hesitating and the rpm gage rived up over 4000 rpms and the car started to lurch and hesitate and had no response from the accelerator. Vehicle started to lose momentum so i exited at the nearest exit. I nursed the car to a parking lot off the main interstate and stop.i called the nissan dealer where i just had the car serviced the week before and explained the problem i was having. I informed the service rep the car would be delivered by a wrecker service to have the car dropped off; read codes and would get back later the next day. I called the next day and was informed the codes were many and they were waiting for the nissan headquarters to give them some instruction.was informed to replace the transmission, cost $5400.this problem seems to be a very well known problem with this vehicle and nissan is well aware of it.i blogged the internet, nissan murano forum and to my amazement uncovered many individuals experiencing the very problem with my car, transmission. I strongly feel nissan should have a recall on the problem and individuals should have their monies refunded and nissan should be fined heavily for their neglect and not accepting responsible for the defective product.

My 2003 nissan maxima gxe continues to warp rotors. I have replaced the rotors on my vehicle 3 times while the car still has under 45,000 miles. This is disappointing as i feel nissan has not lived up to their mistakes in purchasing thin rotors. I can provide paper work on the replaced rotors. I no longer feel safe in a 25,000 car that i purchased. I request nhtsa submit a recall for nissan to fix these rotors. I have spoken to other nissan owners who have had the same issues. The rotors warp prematurely on these vehicles.

Horrible noises coming from the brakes.i went by the a nissan dealer to have them check it out since the car had only 25500 miles on it.they said there was no recall and that the brakes needed to be replaced for both front and rear.i feel that this 2003 nissan maxima should not have had such a problem with so little miles on them, and from my talks with others.i heard that their have been a lot of brake repairs going on at this nissan dealer.i just feel that the top of the line car at nissan should not have this kind of problem.i was giving them another chance since my other 2000 maxima had a similar problem but there was a recall on those rotors and brakes.i am very disappointed with nissan now and may not buy another of their products again.

While driving, car suddenly stops responding, the steering wheel locks into position, the engine looses power, and stops running. It happened four times over the past two years. The speed of the vehicle during the incidents was between 20 - 35 mph.

The steering shimmies and pulls to the right. Power steering fluids are within there limits.

Difficulty reading the instrument panel in low light conditions.*ph

Paint seem to chip very very easy ! it looks like there is no primer under base coat.

Paint blister.submitted to dealer for warranty repair.was advised the claim was denied because the vehicle had been repainted.i have owned the car since beginning and have never even applied touch up paint anywhere.had a second opinion elsewhere to find that the gold fleck in the paint was not distorted, rendering the "repaint" theory false.also, paint chips all over the hood from the poor paint job.

According to the nissan service manager the sun roof mechanism on my 2003 nissan maxima has failed due to warping of cables.the repair cost is almost $2500 and is not covered under the warranty.i'm interested to learn if this is a common complaint about nissan sun roofs, and if any fires or failures of these systems have caused vehicle damage or safety problems.

Noticed a bang sound from front of car on acceleration and braking. Discovered front engine motor mount is leaking fluid, is loose and cannot be tightened.

Normal maintenance performed on vehicle - oil change, tire replacement - car was on a lift.mechanic recommended that i "think" about getting rid of the car as the frameof the vehicle is very very rusted and while not "unsafe" yet, is becoming unsafe.i understand from consumers reports that the 2004 nissan maxima has a recall for frame rust and stability and repairs are covered by manufacturer but not the 2003. I have not contacted the manufacturer as of yet to see if this would fall under their recall. The quality of the metal on this car is very poor (i had to replace an oil pan due to rust which i have never had to do on any other vehicle i have ever owned).the rear panels of the car are rusting through as well.otherwise car has been extremely reliable (one owner) and i don't want to get rid of it yet.

When was driving on 11/30/2015 and parking the car to go in a building and came back out and turn my light on and the trail light don't come on and the dash light don't come back on,and the power steering pump keep leaking.

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima.nhtsa recall 03v455000 was issued. And the consumer took vehicle to nissanfor recall repairs.however, nissan refused to do the recall repairs. The recall went outin december2003, but the consumerpurchasedvehiclein january 2003.she never received a recall notice, and the manufacturer stated that the recall work must have been done. They didnot havethe documentation to provethat it was done. The vehicle was currently in the repair shop becauserear brakes failed, and the dealership refused s to repair the brakes. There were several other problems with the vehicle, such as the stereo, suspension, and other things that they will not repair. The vehiclewas still under warranty.

In between my 12000 mile oil change, and 15135 miles, a clunking and looseness in the steering wheel became apparent as i drove over irregular or bumpy surfaces.i made an appointment with the dealer and took the car in on 5/26/2004.the dealer found that both front stabilizer links had failed internally.the links ball joint did not break, but were severely worn.both links were replaced.since the dealer had links in stock, i will assume that this is not the first failure of this type.what would happen if both actually failed while driving?the links ball joint is merely sealed with a rubber boot, and not greased.

While driving at any speedvehicle shook.consumer took vehicle to the dealer, where the tires wererotated and aligned.the problem still persisted after alignment.dealer admitted, something waswrong with the tires due tocracks.

The subframe and the radiator support bracket are rusted out. Engine and radiator ready to come down.

Our 2002 nissan maxima has been totaled. We no longer have it, but our son was in a major fatal car accident on a major city street 2007, to we ourself do not know exactly what was the cause, our son fell asleep. No drugs or alcohol involved. Courts stated speeding without investigated proof. Our son is incarcerated for 36 years...updated 11/08/17...updated 11/14/17 updated 9/12/18

The paint on the vehicle is of extremely poor quality.it chips extremely easily, much more so than any other car i have ever owned.the hood and other parts of the vehicle are loaded with paint chips.this is a known problem and scores of other people have complained about it.nissan needs to do a recall and repaint the vehicles.

Under low light driving conditions such as early morning or at dusk, during rain, snow, or haze, when headlights are required for safe driving, my instrument panel lights can blend with the dials and under the right light conditions can become unreadable.i drove for over one hour on one day and could not distinguish my speed.the instrument panel lighting is poor.i have notified nissan and sent letters but have not yet had a response.the dealer investigated the problem and it was decided that this is how the panel was designed.after the dealer completed his work, i received a voice message from nissan customer service.i returned the call and left them a voice message to return my call.they never did, so on november 18, i sent a letter with attachments to mr semple, the president of nissan design america.as of today, i have not heard from him or any of his staff.yesterday, i mailed a response to nissan on a customer service form they had sent to me questioning how i was treated.i addressed a letter to mr. Bosley who is the vp of customer service.i would be happy to provide you a copy of all documents.

I have a 2003 nissan maxima gle, with approximately 148,000 miles on it.the transmission "slips:" for lack of a better word when downshifting after being in a higher gear, causing the car to "hesitate", or shut off while i'm driving, stopped at a light, stop sign, etc.numerous other maxima owners who have high mileage have complained of similar problems, but nissan has not addressed this problem.

Car stalls at lights and just stops running while driving down the street.the stalling problem has been going on for years but the car stalling while driving down the road is fairly new. Stalls at ligfhts, stalls while in motion

Purchased nissan maxima on december 11, 2002.noticed, in early may, the paint had chip marks all the way to the metal of the car (on back panels close to both passenger door's.paint is starting to chip along the front edge of both passenger doors.)ilive in wi & bought vehicle new on december 11, 2003.so that means there is snow on the ground until, at least early, april. So out of the five months that i have been making payments on this expensive vehicle...three of them have been during the winter when there aren't a lot of stones, pebbles, rocks, etc.i realize there could be some paint chipping...but my goodness!!!i hadtraded-in my 1996 maxima for this upgraded model!!!my 1996 didn't have paint chips that were chipped to the metal of the vehicle!!!*nlm

While driving, car suddenly stops responding, the steering wheel locks into position, the engine looses power, and stops running. It happened four times over the past two years. The speed of the vehicle during the incidents was between 20 - 35 mph.

Dt:the consumer stated on2003 nissan maxima the rear brakes went out at 27,000 miles.after they were fixedin june there was a clicking noise coming from them. The vehicle died on july 11, 2005, while in traffic. She pulled the vehicle over and after 5 tries the vehicle finally started.the temperature gauge went all the way to hot, and thesetlight came on.the dealer statedthat 7 service codes came up and they stated thatthe computer needed to be replaced.about 10 miles before this happened the vehicle surged, but no lights came on.it was a really hot day,she was going about 60 mph.the vehicle is currently at the service department for both issues.

Thank you.

While stopped at a traffic light with my foot on the brake pedal the engine began to race.i pushed hard on the brake pedal to keep from being launched into the car ahead of me as the engine continued to accelerate.i put the gear shift in neutral and tapped on the gas pedal to see if that would affect the revved up engine.i don't know that this was the source of solving the problem but in a couple of seconds the engine did return to regular idle speed.i didn't think to look at the tachometer to check the rpm but can tell you from the noise inside the car it was high.all of this took place in a period of about 5-10 seconds.

The contact owns a 2003 nissan maxima. The contact stated that while making a left turn, the vehicle accelerated independently causing the contact to crash into three parked vehicles. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. Also, the contact stated that the after preceding from a stop, the vehicle would stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the crank cam position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The failure mileage was unavailable.

When brakes the were applied, the vehicle accelerated.mrthe vehicle experienced sudden acceleration where the engine revved @1500 rpm, then had gone back to idle.scc

Automatic windows do not have a safety stop button. Please provide further information.

Driver side power window malfunctions when using the "auto close" feature of clicking the button all the way up (2 notches).this is supposed to close the window all the way without having to hold the button.when i do this, the window shuts and then returns to half opened position.

The sun-roof on my 2003 maxima se would open randomly; once when i was doing 70 mph on the interstate.i took the car to the dealership after the first occurrence and they were unable to duplicate the problem (see "random").i called after the second occurrence and they still had no formal knowledge of any problem with this equipment.after the 3rd occurrence, when i brought my car in for regular maintenance oil change, i again mentioned it to the service tech.he looked in the technical bulletins and found that this was a documented defect.i was unable to find it on the nhtsa site however, so i thought it was worthy of a conplaint so that others experiencing this problem will know that nissan is aware of the defect and can replace the malfunctioning component.

Severe vibration on front end when vehicle is traveling at 45 mph or higher.*lathe problem was due to ice build up in the wheel wells.this was a major issue with the design of nissan alloy wheels.there was a half dozen or more vehicles with this problem at the dealership. *sc
